"26 10 W TVNZ Bucks line on Matt McCoy, along with our 6 10 w. T V in football analyst Bill Conley, who in 1.5 short hours will have is It. Bucks versus Ducks edition of, uh, Novine Enemy. We have a former Buckeye receiver Roy Hall and former Buckeye running back and Jeff Logan. Our best Buckeye coverage team to talk a little bit about an upcoming game with Ohio State and Oregon is one that everybody's had circled. It's interesting. Most of the buzz That has been leading up to this game, at least on social media is like, why the heck are there only 90,000 tickets soul as opposed to the typical 101 105,000. For this game, and it's if indeed they do not sell the remaining 10,000 tickets, which that's a lot to sell in a couple of days. Uh, it could be the first game since there was a Rutgers game three years ago in the rain that had less than 100,000 other than that went another than last year. Of course, when there were no fans, uh, in the last 20 years, That's the only time there's been less than 100,000 at a football game. I wonder Jeff. If we're reaching a new normal and we're going to see a lot of that this year because of various factors, covid still out there. Sure there is financial situations that were affected by covid last year. Maybe that time came to renew for season tickets or buy your tickets for a game and you're like I'm not going to spend 100 and $50 for a ticket and parking all that step stuff. So I wonder if this is we've reached a tipping point. And maybe the non sellouts are going to become more the norm than the regular. Well, I think Were there. Uh, our friend of former dispatch writer Tim May put something on Twitter today that I replied to and and and he said, I just can't believe that people aren't responding to this. You know they're not going to the game. These tickets are available and I said Wake up call was my response to him and and the reason I said that is It's not any one of those things, Matt that you just said. It's all of them. It could be a combination of any of those, and I think the experience that people went through last year not being able to go to the stadium forced everybody To watch those games on television and get them anyway that you could possibly get them. And I think that the fringe people, and I don't know what percentage of the audience that attends those games might be. But the you know the non rabid fans, um, kind of want. You know what this is? Okay. You know, I don't have a line to my bathroom. Um, I didn't have to fight with somebody in the parking lot. I didn't have to wait. 20 minutes in line to show him my ticket and get frisked and I didn't sit in the 12 Inch Street. Yeah, it didn't cost me $92 for a ticket and $12 for a beer. Yeah. And once the game is over, you're done. You don't have to transport an hour and a half. Sit in traffic to go five miles to Yeah, you know, touching you Turn it off. It's done. Yeah, your home. I don't know. Right? You switch the games with the gangs over. You just turned to another game. That's right. Right? And you know if they got good cooking like you always have it your home There is no you're crazy. Trust me. Listen, I know your spread is ridiculous, right? We'll wait till his daughter brings in some desserts for us. Roy. That is, uh, the box. You might have been telling me that this body here has ever had sugar. I mean, look at him. Are you pointing to be done this? My goodness, Let me look at you. You haven't had sugar in 20 years. I mean, I just had some chewy gobstoppers before I got sh You're gonna need like six. Yeah, they're probably vegan. Avocado. Yeah, Me And Tom Brady, Right? Yeah. No, this is this. Interesting. Um, I think You could get comment. You know how these people in there man caves? I mean, they get comfortable now, like they went out last year and put Crate and barrel out of business. They put every single couch distribute Macy's out of business. Everybody's out of business because they weren't the most comfortable couches. They got everything they wanted, and now they're set up and they have a neutral. There's a new tradition. Now come to our house and watch as a family, and we can have a family event. People have created their own atmosphere for these Ohio State games. Now, if there's 10,000 like, if you If you've never been to a game. Even this year. You're like, I just probably want to stay home. I really don't know what to do right now. Especially now. We got different mandates coming back now right now, and things are starting to go back to the other direction where we thought we were coming about of it. I just think that fans to your point, Jeff figured out how to have a great time and there are living rooms. And it's everything. You guys have said from the covid things not knowing two people get comfortable home, and I mean so another one at you. This rarely talked about Check the student body of Ohio State University because compared to 2030 years ago. How many more Ohio people? Yeah, such a high. Regret. It's not as passionate Maybe this artist passionate they didn't grow up around Ohio State football, but they like they got no house, the university There's not as many students at Ohio State University and therefore their parents like grew up on Ohio State. There's so many out state students anymore. It's not like he used to be. You know what's interesting, too, though, and I think that that is a factor. But like my daughter, um, who is not a football fan? I tried, but she's not a football fan. But she wanted to go to Ohio State. And once she decided she was going to Ohio State, and she's a freshman. Do you want football tickets? Hecky? I want football team like really? Yes. The for the social experience. Yeah, in her mind when she was in high school, she was in the band in high school, so she went to football games and that part of it, but There. She was, like I'm doing it. Now there. She has a couple of roommates that are, even though they're Ohio that are not doing it. But, uh, but I do think Ohio State football still attracts people. But I think that that that is a good point bill that if you look, there are still a lot of obviously Ohio students. But there are students from all over and their passion may not be put exactly. I was. I was with a teammate of mine yesterday out of town, and he has two of his triplets are students at the Ohio State University. All right now he played. He was, uh, competitive guy and it'll have state with us. And I said, your kids go in the game he goes, You know they neither of them got tickets. They just They just didn't get them And these are kids that would go to the games when they were in high school, and they were growing up. They went to every game with their parents and everything. And he said that the one son has decided he's just going to pass. For sure, the other they got an email from the ticket office to the student population and saying We closed it off for students. But now we're open again if you want, and the one is going to go ahead and buy now those those tickets, you know, but I just and and if you look at the location of those 10,000 remaining tickets It's not going to feel like the man cave. These are not great seats. These are not great seats, and you can sit there and say there is not a bad seat in the house. Yeah, let me tell you what? There are some bad seats in that house. Well, you know he was okay. Yeah. Listen, Ryan Day in the, uh, players have all talked about this week. You know, playing in front of the fans and I know it's not going to be 100 and 5000. But Roy still 95,000 or whatever it ends up being still can be a huge home field advantage for Ohio State. I'm sure those guys are really looking forward to play in front of the home folks well, especially coming off of last week's game in Minnesota, where they packed that house out right and just having fans in the stands. It's gonna be awesome situation for the players. You know, you never want to play in front of an empty stands. The only time empty stance is okay is during shrinkage is it's just, you know, inter squad scrimmage. You know we're going to get after it a little bit. But when You had the entire season last year where you're playing. Pretty much an empty stadiums across the country. Um, it changes things. So 95,000 is going to feel like 110 or 108, or whatever the.

"They're meeting today to decide the fate of college football this fall, ESPN says a conference source tells them the season will lie there be postponed or pushed back to September 26th. It's one day after a report that that a majority of the schools within the conference we're considering scrubbing the entire season. 6 10 W TVNZ Jeff Logan says If games do proceed, it will be like nothing we've ever seen before. Her seems to me like there are there are schools out there in Ohio State, probably one of them that feels they can safely managed the environment. Go out there and compete. And if there's other schools and feel like they can do that, maybe 2020 is going to be a season in which we see some really weird matchups between schools across the country Players, coaches, parents and even President Donald Trump himself sounded off in support of sports this week. We will also know more very soon about how about how about how false sporting events will be conducted in the Buckeye State. As Ohio governor Mike DeWine says. A decision on whether sports can move forward safely is coming down this week. It could be as early is even today. We'll talk a little bit about professional sports College course on DH. "The hearing she explained to military leaders. Why commanding officers should be relieved of this particular duty? Let's leave it to an expert someone who is trained in criminal Justice who's prosecuted cases. And defended cases, somebody who has a career in it because you're trying to make the decisions yourself, and it's only three percent of you. Anyway, it's not the average commander, and we're not making less responsible. We're taking one thing off your to do list that you're not very good at that's it. So what's the skim? The latest numbers show, the number of reported cases of sexual assault in the military are on the rise, which seems bad. But the Pentagon says that's a good thing. They say it shows that victims are less scared to come forward. But critics say the percentage of cases actually going to trial is going down. And that means the system still isn't working. You lawmakers have gone Pentagon leaders to make changes in the reporting process to help victims. But this part about commanding officers being the ultimate deciders is still a sticking point. And Senator mcsally story yesterday shows that this problem. Mm is still in need of a good fight. Coming up. Paul Manafort is back in court today. We'll have more on why there's talk about a pardon after the brakes. So the name you're going to be hearing a lot today is Paul Manafort, President Trump's former campaign chairman, he's the drama that just keeps giving Manafort was in court today to be sentenced. He was still in there. When we went to air he's facing up to twenty four years in prison and up to twenty four million dollars in fines. So quick reminder on Paul Manafort. Manafort was convicted last summer for tax fraud and Bank fraud special counsel, Robert Mueller learned about the fraud during his investigation into the Trump campaign to be clear. These charges are for manafort's work as a political consultant before he was even on the Trump campaign last summer. President Trump called manafort's trial a disgrace and a witch hunt. Manafort made a plea deal to cooperate with a special counsel in exchange for a lighter sentence. But then he lied about a bunch of things including about his interactions with a Russian associate that lighter sentence deal went up in smoke. But people say those manafort's way of standing by his man Trump. Which brings us to the big thing that everyone will be talking about will Manafort actually serve that prison time or we'll Trump pardon him. The constitution gives the president the power to pardon people for federal crimes Trump has already pardon a few people including some controversial guys like former Arizona sheriff Joe are Pyo and the president hasn't exactly been hiding. The fact that he still likes Manafort. Good. I think it's very sad. What they've done. Trump's lawyer Rudy Giuliani has floated the idea of pardons as a possibility, but remember the president's pardon power applies to people convicted of federal crimes not crimes at the state level. Now state prosecutors in New York are getting ready with the plan B, they're preparing criminal charges against Manafort. They'll follow them whether or not he gets a pardon. It's not straightforward Newark has a loophole that could limit their ability to do that. But they're trying to make sure Manafort is put behind bars one way or another. You probably know them March is women's history month, and you'll probably be seeing a lot of post tomorrow for International Women's Day. So we thought we'd give you a leg up and talk about where that day came from. It started with the protests in one thousand nine hundred eight women working in the garment factories in New York went on strike the next year in one thousand nine the socialist party of America. Celebrate a national Women's Day to remember that protest then a year later. It went global at a big international socialist meeting in Copenhagen women from seventeen countries declared an international day for the women's rights movement. It became more of a big deal in Europe. But in nineteen seventy five the United Nations made March eighth the official holiday. Here at the skin. We're celebrating International Women's Day. And we need your help tomorrow. We want to highlight a woman who you think is making history in the news. So we want you to give us a call and leave us a voicemail telling us about a woman you think killed at this week..

"Pbs and npr both kind of trying to voice their most of their concerns is that you know of course your big cities are going to be fine right but it's these smaller market member stations that rely wave more on uh the cpb funding um that are going to be most hurt and these are the people that need the stuff the most these rural communities uh need public broadcasting right so it it's hard to argue with that point now it is for sure there's actually a historical lesson in here you can look to new zealand for this like back in the late eighties they tried a deregulation regulation experiment with ahead one channel tvnz uh in the whole country and i'm the government said you know what you guys are done with the teat of the government go sell samad's and they tried this experiment tvnz actually came out is at believe it survived um but it it was worse for the wear as a result and ironically um this deregulation opened a space for a true um nonprofit noncommercial television called um new zealand on air uh that actually came in thrived in the wake of this transformation for tvnz from a public broadcasting the commerciallydriven interesting so it it it's it's not necessarily gonna work out well for the people who listen npr or watch pbs if they go to completely commercially driven programming and the whole reason that you have the corporation of public broadcasting ostensibly is because commercially driven journalism wasn't getting the job done before bright in it's certainly as it now newsrooms being cut um news that is on cable being more and more polarized one way or another a shouting match after shouting match f if you really watched the news the only.
