"So that is exciting news. There'll be a ton of content in there. The moment it comes out, I know myself. And Andrew as well as Edgar over at MLS Sakura dot com, we did over 35 interviews, I believe, that will be up there from media marketing, some really fun stuff, some really interesting stuff with a range of the big time players for this year that will be in MLS. So make sure to immediately jump on there. On Wednesday and get locked in, let's move to transfer deadline day now. Tom. Before Doyle can jump in and steal your thunder, explain to me why I'm calling this specifically transfer deadline day and explain to MLS fans. What's going on and how this affects their club. So transfer deadline day applies only to the buying club where the signing club. So in Europe, most of the deadline days for the winter transfer window are February 1st, it's 11 p.m. local time in England on the 31st. So 6 p.m. hour time tomorrow. And that's a general good rule of thumb to follow that most of these European nations. It's tomorrow night, Tuesday night depending on when you're listening to this at 6 p.m. eastern here in the United States. And that only applies to teams in that region buying a player because it's about transferring the ITC that the transfer certification and you can only do that and designate windows. MLS clubs don't need to worry in terms of incomings because MLS clubs can continue acquiring and registering players until I believe it's April 24th this year is the deadline day regardless. It's into the spring. So this only applies to the acquiring team and that nation and little one like the Turkish league is open for another week, I believe it's the 8th of February. So that's a unique one. But for the most part, European transfer windows are closing Tuesday night. What is your schedule been like this month, Tom? Like when are you not great to sleep? Yeah, not great. It's not great.

"We're recording this ahead of getafe against real bettis. If bet is win that, there are point behind that let it with four games to go for the final Champions League spot. At let you have to be extremely careful. They do, because they are running the risk of not making champions like this season. They're slipping in the performances have not been impressive they've been uneven, so yeah. Before we move on, we have to give a massive shout out to trabzon who won their first Turkish league title 38 years for 38 years. And the scenes there were absolutely incredible. I don't know if any of you follow Ellie Benjamin. On Instagram, but he was there. Oh wow. Okay. And he was on the pitch at the end of the game and filming and I DMed him in response to one of them just being like, this is unbelievable and he said, dude, it was so wild everywhere. That I had to finally start filming at like 5 a.m.. On the best yet at least one of the best sports documentary makers anywhere. Best doing it. He's done. Shout out to Ellie. So they sealed it with a tool draw at home to antalya spore. The best thing about this I thought was that the fans kind of were a bit too keen, while the pitching vending. They came on the pitch of the ref was just like, no, no, no, we're not finished. So they all had to just scatter again. The game was completed shortly after and then everyone was just it was incredible to see it was a dancing from fans on the pitch. Do you know what was really interesting as well? Just in various parts of Germany because obviously Germany has such a huge Turkish population here. They said they were celebrations everywhere. There was fireworks going off in various German cities. There were people out on the streets with trabzon sport flags. There was a tweet actually about particular city, wasn't it? There was a tweet about that and then someone said, oh, it looks like trabzon won the league then. And it was a cologne. I think it was cologne. I think that was an amazing, an amazing achievement for them, and an amazing occasion. I was reading some stuff about how the population of the city had just almost like tripled because fans from all over the promise kind of came into the city and they'd set up big screens in their old stadium, which is like a public park and everywhere after the game. There was like fireworks. Pyro going off everywhere and flares and that was just basically was turned into this big carnival. It looks like one of the most hype league titles I think I've seen in a very long time. Like there are particular moments you talked about this before that were included in one NBA title and that was a particularly special victory or when Philadelphia on the Super Bowl, there's certain victories for a city that mean more to me than this this is going to be on the list of like in terms of celebrations I've seen. This is definitely up there with a trophy that really has a wireless significance. So yeah, many congratulations to them. They still got a pop at the Turkish league and cup double. They do. It was really interesting because they.

"Did in a Danish Super League last year. Do it now in the Turkish league. This is a player that is shown a penchant for scoring goals. Greg berhalter has said it's about form and this position. It is a World Cup year. I repeat World Cup year and he's scoring goals. Absolutely he merits a column. Yeah, he scored everywhere. You mentioned Denmark, he scored for a shot because reserves when he was there. He was a superstar for the U 17 national team, boatloads of goals for them. Whether he deserves a call up or not, I feel like that's an easy answer because anybody deserves a call up and in this day and age under Greg berhalter used what almost 40 players in the qualifying cycle forget that's probably something more like 50 or 60 in terms of guys that he debuted or used throughout his entire time, but almost 40 just in the qualifying cycle, then you add on top of it, the position of need that this is, and you were very focused on the fact that he's 6 foot three, which I think is brilliant. You love to have a nice target. He's also versatile. He can play through the middle. He has a little bit of like winger in his game. So he's got some. I think it's obvious. I think it's obvious that he's going to get a call up between now and the World Cup. Real quick, give me a give me a percentage chance that he turns into the next Hercules Gomez and makes this World Cup squad come November. That's not a very quick answer. I would tell you, in my eyes, it should be a 30% chance because that's about how it would happen with me. I had zero World Cup qualifying minutes zero camps and I made that flight, but so did a few other guys, and that's the thing. It's very eerily similar to my situation and the 9 situation in 2010 World Cup to this situation now. So I'll give them a 30% chance. Wow. 30% is actually pretty good for a guy who has yet to have a senior national team cap in a World Cup year. There you have it. Hercules Gomez loves the late charging striker for Qatar in Haji right. Let's transition to the Copa del Rey, big final played over the weekend real bettis against Valencia albeit not in their home stadium, but in their home city of Seville they take an early lead Hector bayard.

"One thing, but you're right. The players playing for their international teams. They have, of course, they have club teams that they play with all year long, and then these big international terms only occur two to four years. Which made it kind of odd choice to go after if your model is really good. You only get to use it every four years, right? Absolutely. I mean, part of it was I was still, I just finished my actuarial exams. So it had it had this modeling had to fit in a couple months after I was done with an exam and I had time to put it together. So I mean going forward and now that I'm done with the exams, I look to do more modeling and I hope to acquire salary data and hopefully I would think there's less action on some of these smaller leagues and I could maybe like the Turkish league or one of these smaller leagues and maybe do more betting in one of those leagues and I'd be able to do it every week. But for a start and just to build the framework, I thought it was a good use of my time and it was a fun passion project. So what about a couple thousand hours do I have this? I'd say a couple hundred, I'd say not thousands of hours. Oh, merely a couple hundred hours for a relatively small amount of money back. Yeah, I mean, I had a lot of fun doing it. So a lot of it was just pleasure, passion project. It was blending my love for soccer and I guess macro writing in excel. Well, also, though, if you have model building skills, this was a good way to kind of flex those muscles and see if this is something you could do going forward where you might be able to have a much bigger edge or at least be able.

"Probably the favorite in my eye to be rookie of the year this year. And a guy who. I think it averaged twenty points a game game. Kevin porter jr. gets a tier three designation really came on in the second. Half of the season definitely has tier three talent. I think teams are skeptical. Give that to him yet. I given the challenges that he's had off the court in the past and whether he's gonna mature to the point that he's gonna play into all star level but he's going to get the ball looks like john. Wall is not going to be in this rotation this year. They're going to try them at point guard if he thrives there point guard. Kevin puerto junior at only twenty one years old Certainly has a tier two potential apprehensive. Gum gets a tier three point five designation. I was really impressed with him in the summer league he was. Mvp of the turkish league not for young players just overall mvp of the turkish league. Last year he gets a tier three point. Five designation could end up as a tier two player. Respond garuba josh. Christopher kenyon martin junior the other young players that we're looking at some people have said. Hey where's the shaun tait on this. He's actually already twenty five years old and so It was an old rookie. And he doesn't make the cut here are right. That is ten out that is picked five through ten. Those are the teams that are ranked five through ten having the young best core under the age of twenty five. When we come back. We'll look at the future. Rankings for teams eleven through twenty including five teams. That just missed the mark by one point. We got a big tie as we go number eleven but before we do so.

"He just graded every twenty. Twenty one draft prospect played in the summer league. That was an intense process of a lot of watching summer league video so raphael. We talked about those guys who outside of those top nine really stood out to you. I think i know what you're going to end. I think i know who your answer is going to be on this one outside of those top nine. Who is your guy in the summer league that you were impressed with well. I'm going to curb by. Won't go my guy i but i thought bones highland played very very. Well i i saw you gave him a and i thought it was well well deserved and i think that he went to like a perfect team. Am i appeal. Yokich is the perfect player for a combo guard. A guy that completely a little point but he doesn't have to have the pressure of being a table center in. I think plan with yokich and denver. I think he's gonna crack the rotation. I mean we saw marcus. Howard play as a rookie know those due to injuries. But i think highlands highlands gonna make an impact as a rookie. And i think he helped denver. I thought he was one of the more impressive rookies and proud. He's a guy that's going to outperform his draft position in again. Sometimes it is that fit. And i agree with you on bones highland at that moment. He was drafted by the nuggets. I'm like that makes perfect sense what they need how he plays. I could see him playing lou. Lou williams sorta six microwave scores sort of off the bench. You're right with yokich on the floor and jamal murray. Whenever he's back and healthy he doesn't need to be a lead ball handler for this team. Though i will point out he had four point eight assists the game. Which which you know. He showed some abilities to be elite ball handler in the summer league. I don't think that's primarily. How they're gonna use him in denver. But i agree with you. Both highland was one of the guys that i just again pleasantly surprised. And anytime you get a guy named bones in the league and it looks like they're gonna stick. You've got to be pretty happy. Tim calmly again. I generally think he's a really great drafter and general manager. We'll talk about a guy that maybe a little bit later. That i think maybe he made a mistake on. But it's pretty rare that denver. The denver makes mistakes utah. Yeah yeah unless they're trading the guy to utah. I'm gonna. I'm gonna steal your thunder and talk about albertans. Goon for a second who goes sixteen and looks like the guys like john. Hollinger and kevin pelton some of the stats guys. That this guy is a top five pick. He certainly made them look good in the summer league and again that's always you know something that we have to put on there as a qualifier in the summer league sin goon looked like a top five pick in this draft at a basketball genius. Offensively rebounded the ball. Well shockingly i think was second among rookies in blocked shots per game. Which is not something that i necessarily saw coming. The passing was there. He just overall looked like he was more ready for this than anybody else. Some of that may be that the turkish league competition is actually stronger than the summer league competition so he was actually kind of moving down down division instead of a division which you normally would sort of expect for guys and so. Maybe that's part of it is well my only caveat. We did not really see him. Go up against the nba level strength size athleticism that. He's typically going to face undefeated. And i'm not talking about. Okay let's see if he can do it against anthony davis because i know almost nobody can do it against anthony davis but just in general most of the guys that he was dominating think about that pistons game where he worked over. Luca garza. okay. We already knew coming in that. Look garza defensively was going to have some issues. And so that's three matchup in the summer league and so i do want to before we annoy him as a complete steal of the draft. I do wanna see him against that. Nba level of athleticism and strengthen and link link. What did you think about. His performance at thought performance was great. Especially when you consider. He didn't get post touches and he was on a team with guards. That aren't table setters so there were plenty of plays again. I'm.

"Goo 'cause he was on my list. I was going to get to since you mentioned him. One of the breakout guys are standout guys at least of this summer league you know triple. He's he's on a treaty. Made the triple a all star team. He did. That's what this is. This is tuck it and this is one of those guys. A lot of people had projected inside top twelve ish. He slips down into number sixteen that pick was traded multiple times before eventually settled in the hands of houston. Boston originally had it. I gotta tell you someone from boston. I'm sitting there watching plan like g. Think the celtics did use a three-point shooting big man with all those skills like that seemed obvious. But what i mean again summer. League statistics are meaningless. Which point that out but he looks like he has some real nba skill. What do you think people are missing on him early on you. I think a couple of things number one. The the trend of the week to go to position lists and you know malmo versatility and things of that nature. But then you know i. I know this magic team fairly well. and i watched two years become a really good. Nba player and you know knicks. Ide your classic. Nbs all-star which he's been twice now. So in shangkun. I think you just have to again be creative. One thing i learned about basketball. And i i can't believe i'm saying this. It over forty years now is that it's all cyclical and we all like. We were like we were playing position. Lists at manhattan college. You know mid major. Because that's the. I had six four power forwards and so this small ball stuff but they always have draymond green small position. Let's now this is part of basketball. It evolves it's it's circular comes back in bow. And i think kids like schengen. Just have to find their place in the league because You know he's a kid with a great feel for the game he has great rebounding instincts. He can pass the ball eventually. He's going to be able to shoot two three. Trust me on that. It's not going to be an issue And he's actually moved his feet a little better than people thought so. I just think you have to cut. What what what. I think the biggest thing would international kids. Chris that you and i have learned over the last decade is tell me would league. He's playing in and housi- playing because if you're doing it in spain like we should have figured this out i had i had eight and one donncha too spoil. We what we should have figured out as the acp is a really really good basketball league. You know bowl right below the nba and so when a kid is dominating in turkey the way schengen did as an eighteen year old. We should probably been a little more aware earlier but remember now. It wasn't really till the last two months that he rose up the draft boards. I think that's that's that's often when i talked to team executives one of the most difficult things about evaluating international players which is looking at the league they plan. You can go back to jaanus. Playing in the reason. The second greek league there and i remember talking to people around draft night where it's like. He's kind of playing. It's guys do you see at the y. In a way like dominating it was high level high school that he played in. Yeah and maybe the same thing is true for percents like they don't know what they're looking out with the turkish league but i feel like sometimes i always say this brand sometimes just believe your is like the guy is playing.

"I mean. They're they're young guys in their interesting interesting guys like shangkun you watch him play and he does everything slow like he doesn't really jump he kinda. Everything's methodical but he's really patient like he. He works until he gets an angle to either. Get a shot or draw. Foul in that game had fifteen rebounds yet. Fourteen free throw attempts. Yeah i shot three for ten from the field. Be curious to see what he looks. Like against real mba lengthy. He's gone up against a couple. Backup center like borderline g level player. So we'll see what he looks like an nba but he he's lived up to the billing the reason the rockets traded up for him like you said mcmahon was if you talked to anybody who's doing models like statiscal model stone into the draft. You know. I think. I think kevin pelton ed schengen number one. A lot of the internal team models had really really high because he did like you said his production in the turkish league for his age was out of this world. Basically luca danni trajan like the two guys who put up the numbers they have. So i mean an eighteen. He was a turkish league and be equality european league. Yeah it's a really good league. It's a really good week. So he hebrew was probably the only guy that i saw in japan. A young guy say young and quotes. Because i i did see this guy. Don church yeah from soviet. He doesn't eat us in. Count it should. We should track him. Make a note that mcmahon to track this guy but group bruecke. He can defend one through five. Now he's not gonna defend every five one through five crazy long arms and bontemps mentioned about the buyout. His violence three million euros which is three point up top of my head here. Three point seven. I do i do time off of my head and and money can often where you have more money than time so you should get seven million dollars that he would have to pay his now. They stretch it out over years enough to pay it all right now. But he's probably not guaranteed a heck of a lot more than that. He's guaranteed a two year so he really wants to play. I mean he basically is giving up his first nba contract. Why do think the one. I was talking to kevin pelton about this. I think the rockets are paying too. I think they made an agreement with rockets are paying the amount they can pay each year over the next four years students. Seven hundred seventy five thousand seven hundred. Yes owner fifty thousand dollars. So i think the rockets are paying it but like i said on draft night. I was thinking as soon as we got into the rain. Where you know after shangkun went off the board at sixteen after seeing garuba play. I was like all these teams from seventeen. And you're talking about playoff playoff teams back after the first round. I was waiting for one of them to take mothers the knicks or when the clippers traded up i was like somebody's got to take a swing on this guy because he's got really high potential so i thought for the rockets to get him to get josh. Christopher who's one of these guys like this draft is really interesting. Because you know i was gonna talk about jaylen johnson. You've got drafted by the hawks later. He's another guy. There's a bunch of guys in this draft were top five ten fifteen recruits coming into this college year. That had their college like completely messed up. Because a covert and how messed up. Everything was like josh. Christopher left school early or left those two team early jalen johnson left. Do curly so these guys were really big. Time prospects that fell you know much later than you would have initially projected them to be in the draft and christopher showed some flashes this week. He is a really big fiscal kid. Like if he does lock in defense he could become a really interesting player. Jalen johnson has been really interesting for land. He's a six ten kid who's athletic. Thrown down some huge dunks. He's playing on a team with nate bill as a coach and with a lot of good players where they can. Basically kind of dangle plankton out front hammett say listen man. If you do the right things we can throw out here a little bit. You can kind of piecemeal him playing time and make him earn going forward like i think. It's a really good situation for him. A good situation for josh christopher to get minutes and yeah like houston. I think has to feel great with the way. These guys are playing what they've got going on. It's a really good start to this. Rebuilt for and gruber didn't play until tonight and it was you know he's fresh off the olympics and Yeah i certainly wouldn't judge him based on anything that happens in the summer league. I don't know he's practiced maybe a couple of times or whatever but the fact that this guy as a teenager is playing a pretty significant role for spain in the olympics. Yup and like when they play team. Usa he has to be on the floor because he's doing one who can who can defend at that level you know. He's six eight to forty might not be done growing You mentioned one to five kind of the and again. These comps were not. I'm not saying he will be draymond. Green defensively but that's kind of the the type you know. He has the draymond green build. Long arms right kind of body type. Who can guard on the wing you know can guard on the ball can can anchor a defense not a not a necessarily a shot blocker but you know can be a position. Smarts will physical type of of you know give you rim protection in that sense Offensively he's a project you know. He has some natural passing ability. The he needs to develop skills. And you know the other thing that that the rockets really excited about when we're talking about these nineteen year old kids when we're talking about cagey martin who you know. Nobody really paid attention to the rocks last year. But as a as a as a nineteen twenty year old showed some development you know. he's a six six hyper. Athletic guy at canyon martin's hops. That's for sure he throws down massive dunks and and some of the the weak side shop blocks now every time he gets a block. The guy on on a donkey means he's late on his rotation laid on rotation and make up for in spectacular fashion. was a high thirties. Three point shooter for the second half of the season. He's twenty kevin porter jr. twenty one and and you know the way rebel don't put it. They're they're enrolling these guys john lucas university. They feel like john lucas's developmental program. Really kind of gives them an edge and look are. The rock is going to be good next year. Hell no you know two years. No but they've got a young court place. They think if i if i was a rockets fan i would want to watch the team. Which is yes you're going to. They're going to be a really really fun team to watch next year. No question about it. So what about them. So what are you seeing from cade cunningham. This week i mean these look good. You know all these guys have look good. You know what. I mean i. I'm not trying to take a ton away from these games for these top guys like you know it's like tim said jalen green play. He's got a slight hamstring issue. Probably not gonna play. Jalen slugs very well could be done now after this and issue. He's had today but all of them are pretty. Uk down played up. One up against jalen. Green had a really nice crossover. You know step back. Three point move at jalen left in the dust which you know. Got a bunch of views on social media but he. He's a six eight kid who can handle the ball who can pass who can guard multiple spots like he. He's the prototypical like point forward. Today's league that could be a big time player. And you know detroit's and other teams detroit's not gonna probably be very good this year but between cade cunningham and cdc bay and stewart and jeremy grant like they're they're going to be a fun team to watch and like really.

"A one of those was the rupturing of future first round. Pick up for the sixteenth pig. And what did you see what that one and who do you think comes out of that. Yes so all. I think it's gonna make your boy nima really happy. Alpern schengen is a divisive prospect to say the least but they obviously saw something in him to not only like selective but to trade back into the draft to take him in. It also may be able to maintain the picture they have laid on the draft So schengen is gonna be really interesting. Because he is like a. I forget who it was but someone described him as hakeem malaysia. On if you take away everything but the post game which is pretty fair honestly. He is a really good post player. A lot of people will point to like is passing dribbling shooting. Those are all like works in progress. He's more athletic than you'd expect for. Sure I mean he was the turkish league. Mvp this year so even though they had a little bit of an off your talent wise still impressive. But he's just going to be really interesting to see develop in a team. That has no expectations anytime soon. And i i'll just say pairing him with it was manga. Rubel like their polar opposites of each other to me. Because in which i love because garuba is this like stunted offensive player. Who's still developing the perfect game..

"That said we don't need to see anymore. He brought a resume and did really well in the job interview. That to me seems like Not great process there. We know the sixers are always going to be aggressive. Because that's what daryl morey does. In fact they just made a trade right now. Sending two million dollars for the fifty third overall pick by pigs buying things package to other sort of contracts to to inevitably dump but outside of the sixers. What is one team that you got your eye on to see. If they make a move that signifies they're gearing up to make one of these big trade attempts at damian lillard bradley beal. it's interesting what. What david griffin did in new orleans basically Trading away. Eric bledsoe and stephen adams to clear up cap space for new orleans. I am worried a little bit. That people saw what happened with the phoenix suns last year. Mike and said we can do that too. If we have a young stud like zion williamson. What if we trade for or signed kyle lowry. Mike conley basically our chris paul and maybe we can make a run at this thing. I just think what the phoenix suns did. Last year is an anomaly. It is an outlier. And i do not think that the nba should be trying to do that. Replicate that too early zion williamson. So i do look at the new orleans. Pelicans is a really interesting team on draft night. Because i think ziya williamson is making it known that he wants his players. They fired two coaches already. I think there are really interesting team on draft night tonight especially because of what the phoenix suns did with around devon booker in ziadre eight and last year. Kyle lowry want three years. Ninety million dollars worth going gonna end up I suspect that he'll end up in philly. Could see him in new orleans. I don't see him in. La just the cap matt machinations do not work. there can be very difficult to make that happen But again like how much. This is chris. Paul ran the table with the phoenix suns. And how much of this is just like. Hey this is a smart deal. Like if chris paul gets hurt again in the first round and they don't make that run. Our teams can be clamoring over themselves to get kyle lowry or my connie this summer. It's really interesting to see what happens. There what do you think's gonna happen. With duncan robinson in miami given that he think is going to be a free agent next week. I think if you're the miami heat you have to trust their player development. I mean dunkin. Robinson was a nobody before he came into their program and i think probably betting that they can do that again not no disrespect dunkin robinson but i think the smart play here is to bet on their player development. And say we've we've found hassan whiteside. We built up james johnson. We built up dion waiters allowed to those cases. They doubled down on that development a little too much drinking their own kool aid but With duncan robinson. I suspect that they might see if it gets up to that high the asking price for duncan robinson and say. Hey we're going to keep our powder keg dry until later on down the road. We're going to need that cap space. And i suspect they're going to bet on their player development betting on your player development and then hitting me radha tet one two three with assan whiteside. James johnson and dion waiters Made me flinch because of the specifics of those three names that nobody really wants anymore. Yeah we'll that's when you gotta sell high right. I think when we talk about pat riley and eric's bolster that organization. I think it's amazing that they were able to build up tyler johnson into a fifty million dollar player but let other people pay that money right like build them up and then say alright. Go get your money elsewhere. you deserve it. Gave all those guys money. They gave all three of those guys money. A mistake a mistake. And yes andy ellsberg. Gm is is a is a magician turning these cap you know an albatross cod tracks into something real and good But that was a mistake. I think Doubling down on that player development and saying yes. Let's overpay and reward our players. Sometimes you've got to sell high I don't wanna leave this interview right here. This segment without talking. About alpine's shane kuhn. Do you guys know that is. Do you guys know who that that name. I just said alpern schengen. No alpern shane. Goon is an eighteen year old in turkish league just one. Mvp average nineteen thousand nine and sixty five percent. Shooting has an eighteen year old. And i think he should go number one alpern. Shane goon is incredible. He is incredibly efficient. People are saying. Oh he's the next yoke. She's a little shorter He doesn't have the same size as yokich but met this dude. His statistical projections are off the charts. Alpern shane goo just turned. Nineteen like the other day He's kind of in the the high lottery like maybe in the five to ten range. I think you should be going higher than that. Like i don't know if there's a zion or an anthony davis in this draft. But i love this dude out print shangkun. He does three sixty dunks. he does behind. The back pass is eighteen years old. Like sign me up to this dude. I'm all about out brin schengen shangkun live. let's go man. He sounds delicious They don't have to resign dunkin robinson they could also do a sign and trade. You you mentioned the names you mentioned. But they're jones. Junior was a player that they developed and they ended up using him as a piece and ended up getting his the old from another team. And i think they just extended that deal so that's an option duncan robinson to know alpern. Shane goon is. He like the passing the touch around the random easy credit. Get it on the nickname out there. We keep workshop. What it is that you want to get off the ground before we let you go here. Anything else super interesting about tonight. The other things to look for that you'll find super interesting. One sober basketball expert today. I think when we talk about prospects the cops on draft night when they go to the you know the jay bilas of the world or kendrick perkins. I think i saw his on the table tonight on the on the st in the studio the cops are out out of control like the thirteenth pick Is going to be compared to like michael jordan. Right like it is. It is so much fun to watch. I don't blame them because they have to come up with people that People recognize at home. Like oh mogambo. what's he like. There's an analyst a few years ago that said obama is a hybrid between anthony davis and joel indeed. And you're just like come on. You know. I think what we do is like joe. Harris is being a cop for corey. Chris crisper right. Is that because his game resembles him or is it because his hair and his headband resembles joe harris. Think there's a lot of just visual profiling that we do with nba prospects. And i think we need to do better at that. And finally we took out vengeance upon iran after losing to nigeria. After losing france. I land tried to run with our team and fifty five point victory. You knew know quite wanted to punctuate the segment that way. Thank you have or straw..

"We're gonna be watching the magic. Really closely moses moody also sort of in that mix and certainly james book night. Is there a guy that i think would probably be the top of their list. Orlando chances that are orlando trading. This pick though. I think they're considerable. That they may opt out for something else at eight that leaves the sacramento kings at nine. And you know the thing about the kings that i find so interesting is that they've been big franz wagner guys Really this entire draft process this very analytics driven front office and wagner just majors out really well analytically been this particular mock draft that we talked about we just had franz wagner going seven to the golden state warriors. So he's not there. So what a sacramento. Do i guess they could. You know maybe try to Make a deal to move up and give give the warriors something to return or they could take the guy. That actually is even a bigger analytic starling. Then franz wagner. That's alpern sin. Goon i out of turkey. Who kevin pelton. Who does the analytics work for. Espn just ranked as the top player in the draft from his analytics models. That he's had. I've talked to several other teams and folks that really dive heavily into analytics. They all love sin. Goon they all temperate with look. We understand that. He's a more traditional back to the basket. Low post player may be something that you're not as in vogue in the nba. Today where we think about big switchable athletic bigs that can stretch the floor. That's not sin goon but its production and turkey is so good at so high He's mvp of the turkish league that. I think that there's an argument that he's gonna turn into something. Maybe it's not nicoli yokich but maybe Vucevic for example i've maybe ido muscle bodice d'amato bonus sorry Maybe that's another guy that he could turn into an at nine. That's a pretty good. Get especially for sacramento. Who absolutely does need help on their frontline. They're aiming for the play offs and here's an eighteen year old that you're bringing in that actually has played high level basketball. I'm in turkey. He's going to be more ready than most of the college prospects that are that. Are there Trae murphy's another guy on that you could hear his name called in sacramento. So i think it's sort of wagner sin goon And then maybe trae murphy. At the next level at at nine at ted the memphis grizzlies. Who just recently made a trade with the new orleans. Pelicans the grizzlies got stephen adams. That deal got eric bledsoe. Also got the They also got the fortieth pick in the draft. The pelicans moved down to seventeen They get jonas spa in tunis. They also get the fifty for spin the draft and you know the question has been all along what is memphis doing. Who are they after Why did they move up into the top ten right now and i think the answer from all the sources that i can hear is that that is franz wagner. That they're after at ten the problem in at least in the mock draft. That i'm putting together is that he's off the board seven. He isn't available at ten. And now it puts them in the conundrum of okay. Who else do we want on the board. I was told that memphis is really looking for d wing. Someone who's athletic construct the floor and can defend and i can see why franz wagner would be interesting choice there. The other names that i'm hearing are more interesting. Moses moody fits some of that three part for sure the deep part probably certainly has linked but he lacks the elite athletes and elite size for the position. Josh giddy out of australia. Who doesn't really have three or d To his game but he is a big playmaker at an excellent ball. Handler and excellent passer. And i'm not exactly sure how he fits in memphis but hearing quite a bit that he's a guy that memphis could take and then finally is your williams out of stanford who probably fits the bill. More of what they're looking for is a little bit of a prospect. A little bit riskier. And maybe they're just not comfortable taking him at ten. The same way i certainly in my opinion would be and and i think that zaire might be a really great fit there. I but i m putting josh giddy here right now. Seems like there's the most smoke and that's kind of all it is right now. Most smoke around giddy. I'm right now at ten again. This is something. We'll be digging into undrafted in his. You subscribed in big board dot com if we update the mock draft. I'd throughout the day again. Maybe there's a trade or we get information. Hey it's your williams it's not. It's not josh. Giddy make changes to the mock throughout the day and if you've subscribed with us in our newsletter then whenever those changes happen you'll get an e mail in your in box. Let you know what it is certainly will be posting those changes on twitter. I'm as well as you can see in. The net will cut off about an hour before the draft as we launch into our live draft coverage over on lockdown. Nba with with rafeal barlow with John corrales with oliver locked on host. And i'm really excited and stoke to be there Debris down this whole draft.

"All right after the break. I want to get deeper into your big board. Mike and i want to examine the radically different paths. That modern prospects are taking to get there. Goodyear believes in the power of moving forward. No matter if it's on the court the track or the fields movement makes us want to be more. It pushes us to go further to show the world what we can do. Movement has the unique ability to change our perspective to challenge us to work for a better tomorrow. Movement can even bring us together when we're still because if we're focused on the next move we don't have to worry about. What's behind us. Goodyear more driven so when you spin around the globe otherwise mike and you look at your big board. Who else do you want us to know about in this draft. Because there's some other names. That are really intriguing. But i'm curious in your grab bag now of candidates here who else is like worthy of lottery consideration. There's a handful of names in and we can do. Maybe rapid-fire here but jonathan kamenga is like. He's this kind of wild card in this draft. You know he's the one that everyone's trying to figure out. Where is he going to go. And what type of player is he going to be so six foot eight wing originally born in congo a move to the united states as a as a young teen and started off. Julie bubble like i was getting text after tax sand like. Why don't you guys have committed number one. Like he's he's the best prospect you know. He had i want us in one thousand nine points four assists in his first game. Twenty four six in foreign is next twenty three thirteen in his next. So like he was gangbusters to start out the g. league bubble. And then tell off a little bit you know and and you started to see some more of the flaws in terms of the shooting consistency. The decision making the defensive motor and so he has a wide range. I mean some people think he might fall closer toward the back. Second half of the top ten. Maybe all the way to eight nine ten. I think that's crazy talk. I mean the kid still average sixteen seven and three in the g. league at his age as not easy to do but he's he's the one to have an eye on on draft night just because he's got this wide range and he's incredibly talented so he's he's certainly a guy i'm watching and then just a couple of quick names josh giddy The six seven point guard out of australia. He's a guy with with a decent amount of buzz who is maybe the best passer in the draft. The last one who is another kind of polarizing guy who you could see going the top six is james book night out of out of yukon. I think teams are trying to figure out. Is this guy jordan. Clarkson like just. He's just going to be a bench bucket. That's who he is new york kid. He's got that new york swaggering game Or is he going to turn into like a more complete player. Like a devon booker. You know like can he. Can he become that. Is he going to be the next guy who people just saw. As maybe a score and then he continues to develop and become a better passer and become a better defender. So he's another divisive guy. That i'm definitely going to have my eye on. And i think has one of the higher upside prospects projected outside the top five so outside of the top five of the top ten top thirty. I mean something that happens. Every draft mike. If we're honest with ourselves here is that some seemingly random second rounder ends up being somebody that we all pay attention to in the nba. Nickel yokich of course goes from second round. Mvp that's an extreme extreme case. But i think of khris middleton who you mentioned as the floor a jalen green. That guy was a second round or two was the closer for the bucks. Of course winning the title. I know it's almost impossible to say who you don't like enough to make a first round but you think is good enough to be one of these guys but who is under the radar that sort of in your craw that you still don't know what to do with that has really high upside all right. I'm gonna give you a couple of guys here okay. And they're not all projected in the second round but they're kind of some of them are in the fringe. Maybe one a little higher. That i just wanna hit on so bones highland Oh i love that name already. I don't know anything else about him. But his name's bones. And i am in is the best i mean he. So named sean is his name is his first name. Goes by bones so he is from delaware. Okay the pride of delaware in dante. David chen zotov delaware greats but he led the world on fire at the nba combine. I mean like pull up three after. Pull up three threatened. The needle would pass his using his length and he's incredibly confident. He won conference player of the year. He shoots it from thirty five feet. He's really skinny. He needs to improve defensively. A little rough around the edges but crazy backstory man like he was basically had had a house fire in delaware when when he was when he was coming up through the ranks in highschool and lost a few family members had to jump out of his house and had sustained a really bad injury in the midst of his high school career that kind of led to him slip through the cracks a little bit and he ends up at. Vcu and improves and here. He is a you know potential first round pick. I think you can make an impact right away Day ron sharpe is another guy. Look at at unc. He was a potential lottery. Pick a best rebounder in the draft. Big body great hands. Great touch play that north carolina where they usually play multiple big. So i think he might look better in the nba. And the last one. I wanna hit on. Okay yeah al peren shangkun. I'm highly intrigued by the turkish big man that i went to spend some time with this year out in istanbul. We have him as a potential lottery. Pick but i think he's worth talking about because schengen. He was that like overweight productive. Kid who always put up numbers on the fiba circuit. And you'd say all right like i don't know what to make of this. He'll probably be good in europe and then this season starts any dropped over twenty pounds and was putting up historic numbers in the turkish league. Which isn't really what it used to be. But still a very good level okay. Eighteen points eight rebounds three assists sixty five percent from two steel and a half block and a half in like twenty eight minutes. I mean he won. Mvp of the church league at eighteen years old right. and so. here's this kid who doesn't completely look the part. But i went back there like three times on my european trip because i was like man. I need a figure him out more. I was so intrigued. And i remember sitting there at a practice and just watching him knocked down like step back. Threes and thread the needle with behind the back passes and unlike if you squint hard enough okay. There's like a little bit of like a mini yokich. At times with with what he does and the footwork in the way he moves. and so. I'm just like enamored with what this kid is gonna be calm and listen. Maybe he's like a backup center forever just rebounds and gets roasted defensively but if he lands in the right situation there's something a little bit special about his hands is touch and feel and that's what i'm going to be watching as he progresses so the international route has always been something of a mystery to us americans but it strikes me mike in this latter part of our conversation. Now that a couple of guys who've been discussing in jalen green jonathan kamenga. They're coming from an entirely brand new mysterious developmental pipeline. Here in america called the g. league ignite and you had joined us in january to explain that whole program which is run by the nba but its existence speaks to this larger upheaval. We're seeing in college basketball and the entire experience of being draft prospect in the first place. So let's take stock of that for a moment remind our listeners if you could the g. league night is and brings up to speed about how that.

"There. We're talking with david thorpe of true hoop longtime player development coach and you know he just referenced last so and i just started laughing when he did it. Because i'm like you know you feel like ted lasts too good to be true and there's certain things about him that probably are but when i watched the show the first time i turn to my wife and i said this guy reminds me of two people in my life. I know a man named jim farrell Who's written some really cool books for the arbiter institute called the anatomy peace leadership and self deception and david thorpe. Oh if you were to mix those two guys together on this this is this is who i would. I would pick a special coaching style. The positivity the upbeat -ness of this the the carrying about individuals over necessarily winning It's all there with with coach. Thorpe i love the relentless enthusiasm and optimism. Here we've gone through our mock draft so far we've only gotten three picks through but i'll tell you what this would be draft night gold right now. What we just heard as real analysis on the draft got for david. He's got evan moby. Going one to detroit pistons. He's got scotty. Barnes going to the houston rockets kate cunningham going three. I have a kind of a little bit in reverse order with kate cunningham. Going one evan. Mobile going to. Scotty barnes going three but we do have the same top three which is pretty cool and some of the few people that have the same top three. I'll also point out john. Hollinger has that same top three. We'll all pretty deviate now all right toronto raptors or on the board. I know you know masai well. I know that you've known him really his entire career. And you know you you've been in each other's lives a lot. I've also got to know masai before he was really doing. Nba scouting Back when it was the africa one hundred camp back in the day. He's on the clock here for interesting spot for the raptors to be in because they're probably better than the fourth pick in the draft. You know typically a team right now so you know. What are you gonna do here. It looks like they're gonna lose. Kyle lowry in free agency. There's too many teams new orleans. Pelicans just made a trade today to clear enough cap space to make a huge huge offer. Kyle lowry and it looks like. That's that's the direction they're going. What do you do if your messiah for well in terms of philosophy. I think we all agree that you almost always have to look at the value of the pick. Know the way to win the nba. Is you wanna pay as a as a as a teen way less than what their real value is right. So lebron james is still at discount compared to what he returned. Same thing with with rookie in your two year. Three or four are much more valuable than what you're paying him right out of with box many others. So you gotta take a guy but you think has that high high level of value and so i think jalen greens a great pick for them. I also think. And i'm proud to say this. Yeah i i. I met masai when he was still playing overseas. And i think. I'm the first person to hire him when he first came here here. We says i am he. He trained players with me. He was draining. Kevin martin with me and honest and josh. Josh powell who played for the lakers years later. Whatever i was here for the summer. I my first pros were nigerian guides that he sent me who played in europe and so he and i go back since long. He had a gigantic kidding play. Cut back then. It's very different now. So i think he is really bought into player development. They invest a lot of time and resources. You're not talked a lot about it. I mean jalen. Green is absolutely lost as a player like almost every freshman is going to play freshman played. How many games. ten games. Wherever in the in the g. league bubble thirteen thirteen six hundred thirteen. I'll say this chad so this last couple of weeks. I've been really last week diving in. I'm watching international high level games internationally in turkish league. And you can get the league's. I've been looking at college basketball. The highest level of college basketball and the g. league showcase which i watched the show case very close i'd clients playing in it so i saw jalen and commingle play live in it for the ignite and it was garbage compared to what the international teams run which is high level tactics the college teams which i call high level but there are running something. The g. league team was give the body green. Get outta the way. Next guy up almost like the miami heat when wade and lebron. I teamed up your. Turn your turn your turn. Maybe pass. Maybe they won't. I feel badly for those guys and nothing against brian. shaw whatever. It did not work out well in terms of player development and give them the foundation so i think green is far away from helping you win games not being said ivan. He's got a. I think he's got a little bit quicker silo. He's quicker than zach. He did a spin move and got fouled. It was a single hidden scored. It was the single best highlight of saw of all. I watch fifteen seventeen guys. It was the best way he didn't score he just got fouled bottom full speed three sixty spin without breaking stride. That's very very almost impossible to do. He's a really special athlete with lanes. He's got scoring instincts. He doesn't know how to pass yet but he threw. He made some nice passes. There were very obvious to see. I thought but at least he made them. I think you need some work. I mean the raptors have a perfect environment for him and if he doesn't get the right environment chad i i worry about future as a great player. Most players need their franchise. The help we've seen that time. And again and i think the raptors in jalen greener perfect fit one of the things that i'll say that Had brian shaw sort of sell me on jalen green. And if you if you're a podcast listeners. You haven't listened to the podcast where i had brian shaw on the show breaking down the games of all the g. league players that are in the draft and hear him tell stories about about jalen green. It was it was clear that there was a drive-in jalen green the desire to get better the asking the questions the stain after the breakdown tapes wanting to be involved and understanding what they were doing why that really impressed coach shod. And you know he's trying to think the game and and to your point he's not there yet but if the efforts there and he's gonna put in the effort and not just rely on what is incredible athleticism but actually going to study the game and figure out how to get better disguise really the limit for him because he he's just so talented. I think you'll figure out how to defend. I think he'll figure it out how to get others involved better if he's really going to become a student of the game and that was one of the things that i think brian shell liked about him as well as the competitiveness. I went a little bit different way with toronto again. Controversial in took jalen sucks here. I know how much messiah loves toughness. I know how much aside loves the guy that is going to go and cut out your throat on the other end and of all the players that i watched this year there was something about the way that jalen slugs carried himself on the court. That just just wowed me As a basketball player in the you know the thing that was so interesting about him to me was he scored. We needed to score. He got others involved when that was what he needed to do. He always showed up on the defensive end. He would turn it up right at the right time when he needed to even though he was in a very very very talented gonzaga team where he was the freshman had very experienced players. All around him. I don't like to throw around winner. I think it's a cliche to throw around the quarterback stuff for the defensive back staff or you know all the.

"The warriors hall for a quick second. Here kyle anderson on the warriors. What's your thoughts on his facilitating. His match is play with steph. Curry hopefully a healthy klay thompson draymond green and the rest for i mean. It's definitely a win now. I don't know i would have done it. I still think james book could've been a fit and golden state came off the bench and been a bucket get even as trying to withdraw them pulled us but it just tells me that the warriors are looking to win right now and they're trying to make sure that there's window that they have right now think bring home another title to tell them. Richard you take on the deal. Yeah they have probably two years left in that window agree. James book night would probably be better more of an impact than kyle anderson. But i get it. You don't even have to wait to see kyle anderson impact like you would for book night. You get another playmaker next to steph. Curry is never about memphis. You pick james night. Fitness grizzlies are now the clock with pink. Fourteen in the two thousand twenty one mb ultimate nba draft with that selection memphis. Grizzlies select james book night as six three shooting guard out of the university of connecticut. The page reason why the grizzlies made this food with. Which would they focus on the future. Though certainly was a very valuable member of the grizzlies steered the twenty two thousand. Twenty twenty one season with an expiring contract and the likelihood that you'll want to make four four without likely the story of what this scene the grizzlies decided to make a plate for the future in acquiring pick for teat and being able to select james whose ability as a three little score his battalion as a player it also his ability to create his own shot and create separation. He is shot. Feels many needs for the grizzlies as a long term potential partner with john ramp for the grizzlies and even better part about all this is that. What the grease pig james s. fourteen. We still have our pick at seven teen to be able to add another intriguing piece to our future court so we have a trade here in the late lottery. Memphis trades up. They get james book night. The talented scoring guard from uconn in the deal is michael. Moulder alan small. And gary payton the third also i heading to memphis the golden state warriors in more of a win. Now move they get kyle anderson who can play right away and a twenty twenty. Two first round. Pick pick originally belonged to the utah jazz. I like work tonight scoring ability. He's a talented. Score is wired to score aggressively looks to get downhill and attack the basket. He's a pretty explosive athlete. I like his breakaway speed and transition as well as as ability to finish above the rim. This is player that identity hurley and the guys at uconn through some lobster and he knows how to create points average about five and a half free throw attempts per game and made seventy percent of them also memphis gets another talented young piece as they look to build around jamaran in jaren jackson june. I'm david locke thanks very much for tuning in. We're getting to the halfway point of our mock draft here with the fifteenth. Pick of the draft and book night has gone so we have to find a new story line To talk about it's finally happened. So now who are the guys. We're at the stage of the draft. Half these guys are making it and half. These guys aren't like are there. Any sure thing picks in your mind at this point richard. I don't know if there really are at this point to be quite blunt. I mean there are some guys who have some really good qualities that can make them stick. But there's no guys like moses movie for example is a guy who has said in a previous episode that he can't fail and there's none of those players available i don't think right now outpouring shingle and turkey. Eighteen years old was the best player arguably arguably the best big europe won. Mvp of the turkish league which in my opinion is the second best domestic league europe. He is a guy that i think that has a high upside and could potentially be an all-star center raviol- you know anything about that. Turkish league spending time in turkey or any other nature. Sure did i. was there. Two thousand sixteen seventeen season and greatest here in my life is the world had a chance to go to all the games fans. They're crazy. And maybe i'm a little bit biased there but i really like she grew. But you've seen that league up close and personal with all your scouting and being there for a year. What what did you learn from. What did you learn seeing that in. Why is this guy so much. Well wanna turkish. League has a lot of high level american guys that were stars in college. They pay fast with place pace. It's similar to the nba in style as far as pace minister has it's still europe so still has elements of european basketball. But i i like what would shingle there. I mean he's worked on his body had a chance to watch him a couple of years ago. He slimmed-down phenomenal low post player. If this were two thousand one instead of two thousand twenty one. He is a top five. Pick wow gang will translate if you're on the board raphael no brainer on that one or other other guys you might take now. I mean. I don't even know the direction. The wizards were going. Are they in a rebuild ball but they got bill. You got westwood. Gaffer was good our selection goal. If if i'm the wizards. I think that he would be able to get a lot of easy buckets of west dump off. So we'll see the one thing they've been consistent they're drafting. They're working on the merchandising. Because they're the number one ticket sales in japan and israel with fixing the last two years so they can become they can continue with that merchandising. If they were to follow your lead just out of interest you guys last year. we didn't. We didn't have both you on the show yet. you did. A lot of work obviously avocado. What did you think of kim coming into the draft of. What do you think of his rookie year for washington high. I had a chance to watch him play. I think that he went to the wrong team. Because i think he's more silva point four. He needs to ball in his hands. And you pill. Westbrook and billion have a lot of opportunities to play the boss oil filter. He stood in the corner a little too much. The knock on him was his shooting. And that's the role that he ended up planned for visits the shooter. So i think in a different situation he would have been able to showcase what he's strint. Yeah and i completely agree. He was put in the worst role at the highest usage. But i still think biking said washington's direction as you're so unpredictable right now that could.

"What a sausage fast. If i am sick forty for the record shanahan was not there at the Thing that viral video from last week Angelo purchase of the weekend and city news service set has words for this. Use your words. That's why i'm always told that there were several arrests. Violence erupts is when they said about saturday. Violence erupts at dueling. Trans rights demonstrations at spa a those one on saturday. And then i guess Sunday a second pro transgender rights demonstration to set today one day after dueling protests turned. Violent outside koreatown. Spa that gained notoriety effort. I see man and so on saturday. Police told city new service. Unlawful assembly was declared roman forty-five anyway one of the other viral videos. There was a bunch of people in koreatown. And by the way if you're unaware this if it comes to homeless camps in irvine or things like this in korea town you don't f with the immigrants who came here for a better life. I think we're learning that aren't we and so one of the people that was protesting in support of mothers who who don't want their daughters to see a d. In the locker room as seen here i see that's a great indicator and so a bunch of people come out and protest not by by bunch. I mean i don't know two dozen maybe tops. Two or three dozen and the so-called anti or. I'm sorry the pro transgender rights people. They were oddly enough. They were all dressed like antifa and it was. It was antifa cost play and it was all black. It was face covering the whole thing. It was beatings of old people. So there's that there's there's iconic photo already from yesterday from saturday. I i should say anyway. One one of the guys a korean who was assaulted by this this little white girl. There's like she had to be like twenty one or twenty or something and she took great offense at the fact that he was protesting people people with male anatomy exposing themselves to young girls. That was he was protesting against that notion. I mean what a caveman right. Anyway this This young white woman took umbrage to it and she felt that assaulting him was the baller move so she kicked him in in the crotch in the crotch region so she went ahead and kick their and he defended himself he was only a water bottle and he connected with her noggin and it sounded like college. Baseball is what it sounded like sounded like a college baseball homerun aluminum bat soda. We'll we'll talk with him but it's up. Here's what's really sad about this. Is that hey folks. It's the law. Did you not think it through. Did you not know that it would come to this. It's come to this. This is where the rubber meets the road that this spa is literally following california law. And if if your seven year old daughter that you took to. The spa is not woke enough to whether or not you don't want her to see is not the issue she. She has a legal obligation to see it. That's so ridiculous this is a i don't care you know the bail the jail time it's not gonna happen. I'm with that woman. My my daughter doesn't have to see that and that's what women's bathrooms are four okay and that's what the wnba is for. Why are there any man man men i would dominate the wnba. I would not. But i don't know what is blocking a third tier. The last guy that the lakers cut between the nba and the italian league and the israeli league and the turkish league. What's stopping them from. Just staying in this country and going into the wnba is it. The w is there. Anything by the way eric sklar. You're the duke of sports officially. Is there something in the wnba like charter. That says that you have to be a biological woman or something you know i would assume so but ken. How can they legally do that. I don't know. I bet you the cancer i mean. They're private enterprise. They not a yeah. Nba owns them So i mean i. I'm going far afield on this. But this is the law in california. What what the pre trans person did with. His penis was totally legal and so people protesting and like i say you know this happened five or six years ago. So there's that all right afghanistan is going back to the twelfth century province-by-province hour by hour as we speak and we're washing. Your hands will give that. Plus matthew mcconaughey tells america that very soon your body will be undergoing changes and we call it puberty. The fourth of july message will be back right if this. It is the john and ken show. Chad Ford's NBA Big Board

"Back talking two thousand twenty one. Mba draft. i'm with espn's friend for shila we're talking about international prospects and we started talking about some international prospects that actually have been playing here in the united states college basketball convenient in the g. league now we're going to start talking about some international prospects playing overseas right now. Let's talk about the guy who's the highest rank guy on my board. Though it's close josh giddy out of australia. Big point guard point forward exceptional feel for the game. Toughest nails actually having a pretty productive season as an eighteen year old in australian league. What do you think about his pro prospects. I like them. Like i like the big point. Doored stuff he really sees the floor. He's you know he's well coached. I hate to say it this way but those kids are probably going to get better. Coaching than college. Coaches give a college kid. 'cause he's around men pick and roll in in in australia. Chad just like your is really important to an nba. Point guard so he josh has that and that and that is to see over people And again kudos to josh for having a great year as a as an eighteen year old and a man's leaks. I'm one of those people now. My boss. I have a lot of australian friends. Who probably gonna listen to this. I don't think the australian league as is as good as everybody makes it out to be not to say that lamelo ball can't be rookie of the year which he was this week. Here's my thing with josh. Gotta shoot it better. That's a big concern for me. Is that you know you. And i will read the euro camp to mention euro camp again when we had the youngest player to ever come to that camp and i think he was fifteen or sixteen. Tomasa taransky yeah. You remember when yeah doors. And he was very excited about him. We were all excited to see two sixteen year old kid play play at the euro camp and hey he's in the nba in eighteen minutes a game now. But i worry about josh long-term if the shot doesn't come around because then. I think you've got a big point guard who people can go under screens. Playoff of but and again. He's a kid that i'm not sure if he's taken eighth thirteen fifty in that range that's going to automatically step into your rotation. I think you're going to nurture him. He needs to take a step. That is not necessarily a lot of cry level and be a minute so you might see him jumping back and forth but hey at six eight seized the floor. Great feel tough kid. Basketball background family background in this draft. It's good it's a. It's a good pick that you know i would say ten to eighteen range. Yeah like ricky rubio another great example of a of a fee nom who was an afi nominee nba because of that lack of a of a killer jump shot. It's obviously a concern. He's young and you know there's things that you can teach things you can't teach the way he sees the game at his age can't teach that shots do get better for some prospects. Yeah and you know a lot of people throughout ben simmons and say you know. What is this obsession with. Big point guards of can't shoot. Ben simmons actually think ben simmons in some ways is an outlier in that not only has he not gotten better but in certain ways he's kind of regressed at on on on the shot and i don't think it's fair to just point and by the way ben simmons is still very valuable. Nba player because he's whether top five defenders in the in the game and that that's going to get you something but you know that's that's the question for me for me off the jump shot. And he's not. He's not an elite athlete agreed. Agreed i wanna compare to you. Know you're we have a lot of mba you'll at you have a lot of mba with saying to santa ronchi. Who is that why you know. He plays eighteen minutes a game for the chicago bulls. He's been illegal. But you know. Full maas always had that stigma of having a really good feel for the game at six seven but not being able to keep a defense on. So josh josh can do that. I and again. We can't expect a kid like this. I don't care if you played at duke this year or play it australia to come in right away. Take the league by storm but at six eight great field with the game. There's a lot to work with their no question about it all right. Let's talk about opera singer. Yeah is probably one of the most divisive prospects of this raft. He's putting up monster yonkers in turkey and a really good league as an eighteen year old. You can't ignore that John hollinger's pointed out that if you look at the history of players that are that successful in europe at that age none of them wash out in the nba. It's it's a it's a telltale sign when you're able to do that at that high of a level but there are questions about how his game translates to the modern nba where teams want bigs that can stretch the floor. Teams switchable bigs. That can go out and guard on the perimeter. Worse sin goon for the most part right now is playing a more traditional center role. I'm at turkey though. There's there's clearly some potential there for that to be a bigger part of his game. What do you think about ultimately his mba prospects. Well i thought john holliman what was into your podcasts. At john really broke down. Well go back and listen to that. That podcast with john gotti really nailed it. You know. it's funny. When i first started hearing about this kid started watching him jet. I thought what everybody else thought. I said there's no way is translates to delete. This is back in the fall. The more i watch the more. I pay attention to more. I see some things that he does. That are gonna work in the league. You take nick bucci. Who's now a two time all star. Who is really a load inside And he comes to mind. Obviously and his canter chris at a turkish background I totally i think he's gonna make it. I think he's going to be. I think he should go higher than a lot of people have him. I don't know where you have him. But i kinda board right now in my head he would be inside my top ten and one of the things. Here's my tiebreaker chat. I been doing this for fifteen years whenever. I'm not sure about a guy like this. I figure out who my contacts are my former player contacts. I did this with casey. Shaw and devon booker's dad about gallon are years ago because they were on the same milano team. I called ca. I call kyle wilshire. I've talked to a motte 'em by who played at oklahoma. My son was his best man and now is a star and a turkish league and is going to start with the french. Olympic team will be the only non mba starter. Both of those guys. I talked to mont last night. He said he calls me coach. He's a coach. He is way stronger than you realize. He said he is a monster inside physically. And those guys bolting. He will translate to the league high. The i gotta think the analytics are off the chart on him. They're off the chart. Yeah i got it and what he's done to your point and john's point in that league which could be the second best week. After spain in europe domestically is..
