"As of today news radio 8 40 w A. T s right. The long time Chief financial officer of former President Donald Trump's family business has been arraigned on sweeping list of tax fraud charges. What are those? And where does this all lead? Let's find out the latest from Eric Cantor Ski from New York City? Where he's reporting on this senior correspondent, Of course with ABC News. Good morning, Aaron. Good morning to you. The Trump Organization calls it politically motivated and Donald Trump himself calls it disgraceful. But the company and its longtime chief financial officer are now facing criminal charges alleging a 15 year audacious scheme to defraud tax authorities through executive compensation in the form of school tuition and apartments and cars. That was never reported on the books. So the executives were able to avoid paying taxes on income, and the company was in able to avoid paying payroll taxes. So where does this lead? Will? Uh, President Trump for the former President Trump's name other than the name will he likely be included in any of this as time rolls by or what? At this stage? No, but I think, as the prosecutors noted, the investigation is ongoing. They've had since February eight years of the former president's personal and business tax returns. And what's interesting about this indictment. 15 criminal counts is what's not in it, And that's any of the things that pique the investigators interest in the first place. Things like hush payments to stormy Daniels and the property valuations and all the other ways that the former president conducts his business. So here, prosecutors with Charging Alen Weisberg, the long serving chief financial officer of the company may be looking for a cooperating witness. Uh, certainly that's been the expectation but so far he hasn't succumbed to the pressure and he's been in discussions with President Trump. Now his Um, former daughter in law, Apparently his ex daughter in law has had some things to say as well. What are some of the things that she's brought to the table here? And what are is an investigation Still deepening as we speak right now. It's definitely deepening. And Jennifer y Silberg was the one who kind of turned prosecutors on to the to this off the books compensation. She for a time benefited. Um, she's now Estranged from y Silberg son, Barry. Their marriage went south. But for a time she was the one that was telling prosecutors about the school tuition that was paid for off the books and the apartment that they lived in rent free and the cars that they were driving. And all of that is just a matter of paper. You know? What did you get? And where the taxes paid. And if the numbers aren't right, you know you do have Potential crime. This is the Trump Organization, of course, but what other um what other companies could the former president's, um, could be looked into here? Well, no, I don't think any other companies are going to be looked into. This is all focused on on the Trump organization and its executives to include the former president and his Children. And you know, there are still many more things that prosecutors are taking a look at. I mean, it seems clear from this indictment that it's just a first strike and that you know, investigators are pursuing avenues that could lead all the way to the top. All right, we'll see what happens. Erin appreciate your time. Thank you so much for all the work you do force and, uh, we'll have a great Fourth of July holiday. You as well. Thank you. All right. That's Erica Turkey. ABC News, Kentucky.
