Parts of Snohomish County have been seeing flooding throughout the last 24 36 Thanks to the heavy rain, Scott Northwest Snohomish County Emergency Management says the Stillaguamish and Skikomish Rivers have been spilling over. And that's often the way these sorts of events unfold. You know, Stillaguamish the often comes up first as does the sky. Those rivers tend to be the first to flood. Snohomish is a slower rise. Now the small town of Sylvana, which is on an island in the Stillaguamish, is being evacuated. A close call for a woman near Arlington after she drove her car around a barrier and into floodwater. She is safe. The sheriff's department here in Snohomish County tells us she is going to get about a $430 fine for driving around those closures. So very important to pay attention to that. Como Forest Jeremy Harris reporting, one of the three Tacoma police officers on trial for the death of Manny Ellis has told his link to the jurors. A report from the NTSB says the failure of a single part was responsible for a float plane crash that killed 10 people before, as Jeremy Harris reports, federal investigators are recommending a fix. This piece, an known as actuator, had separated in flight, causing the plane to pitch down and plunge straight into water. the They could lead to loss of control of the aircraft. Eric Ellison is the director of maintenance for Kenmore Air. When the trim jack is actuated, it could potentially unscrew like that. Kenmore was not the operator of the float plane that crashed, but Ellison and his team helped the with the investigation. We took a look at what we could do to help prevent the clamp nut from unscrewing should something happen to the lock ring. Kenmore designed this fix, attaching a small cable to make sure even if this piece came unscrewed, it would stay connected, preventing the fatal free fall that happened Whidbey off Island. Transportation improvements are coming to Seattle's Mount Baker neighborhood as part of the move Seattle Levy that passed in 2015, the Seattle Department of Transportation plans to build additional bike lanes, improved signaling for pedestrians and better access to transit stations. Executive Director Greg Spotts, the project costs approximately $9 million. The levy expires soon, so the city needs to use the money fairly quickly. Traffic seems to be a little bit less than normal for sure Real says he's gotten some cancellations because of the fire but he's filling those rooms back up. The fire crews a lot of them are staying intense and stopped we tried to get them into the hotel whenever we do have a cancellation the fire is estimated at about 1 ,400 acres with zero containment. Seattle City Light evacuated employees and residents residents from the town of Diablo last Thursday Ross Lake Resort was also evacuated after they lost power because of the fire. A crash near the Port of Tacoma yesterday morning has neighbors urging city leaders for a change at a dangerous intersection as happened on Highway 509 and Alexander Avenue the same place that six people died in a t -bone crash last month or from Como Force Jackie Kent. The crash report states speed was believed to be a factor and even if you're just going a to right take there people fly through that intersection it's posted at 50 people are probably going 60 so then just anyone crossing you know that's a lot of speed to stop instantly. State Patrol has reported that since officers responded to six deadly collisions on highway 509 three of those happened at or near Alexander Avenue. I would just like to see a change like sign something a new light anything. State Patrol is reevaluating areas to put emphasis patrols especially through the summer. A spokesperson has said the public can help by wearing a seat belt don't drive I just hope that maybe the city or WSDOT would do something about that intersection. We are working to get crash data for this intersection and contact WSDOT to find out what more can be done to help prevent speeding here. Jackie Kent Come On News. "I'm Kathy O'Shea and here's what's happening. Crime scene investigators spent the day at a home in tukwila where three year old girl was shot. It's not known how it happened in Ted will a police will only say this was not a random act. Division chief pat Pollock was working at fire station 73 when a family member dropped off the toddler. This is a very tragic event and it's a very sad event and our hopes and prayers are with the toddler and with the family. The three year old was taken to Seattle's harborview medical center with life threatening injuries where she listed in critical condition. Parents gathered once again protest the swim school districts plans to reconfigure elementary schools into one school for kindergarten through grade two students and another school for students for third through 5th grades. Molly Shen has more. This follows Monday's protest where parents also voiced their frustration. We believe it'll be extremely disruptive after all the COVID disruptions is especially concerning. All the way up into the rent scenario and rented a bell be running at about a half an hour. So it's starting to fill in as well. But not terrible. I mean, you're off the brakes By the time you get past 44th and Newcastle out of the north end we are seeing some West end slowing on highway to the trestle there as you work your way over towards the effort, side and the I five and the 95 South. That's after crowding through Tacoma City Center and then back up again as you're approaching state route 18. If you are traveling from federal way into downtown Seattle, it's going to take you about an hour and 15 minutes right now. So time to start thinking about alternate routes of the Pacific Highway That's going to be a good one for you right now. That's moving along fairly well. North found 167. That's going to be heavy out of north Puyallup into Pacific were crowding just north of Highway 18 was seeing scattered, slowing from to 12 to 4 or five north, Um four or five slugs out of Rented into Newcastle south down four or five looking at brake lights out of alder wood. Much of the way into King and Park West bound us to is busy across the trestle that's backing up westbound 204 and South and I five with some hesitation approaching 128th and effort, and we have some scattered slowing out of Linwood and into shoreline. Federal Judge: Tukwila police unlawfully arrested illegal immigrant
"A federal judge says police in Tukwila violated a man civil rights when they arrested him last year and then turned him over for deportation. Komo's Carleen Johnson reports.
