Tornadoes kill at least 11 across US Midwest and South
"At least 18 people are dead across the Midwest and mid south as severe weather hit several states Friday, bringing with it reports of more than 65 tornadoes. Deaths were reported in Tennessee, Illinois, Indiana, Arkansas, Alabama, Mississippi. Plus thousands of homes and buildings destroyed or damaged according to officials at a strip mall in Little Rock Arkansas Joanna McCain huddled with other customers as a tornado blew the roof from another building. We ran to the back, we huddled together, and we pray for our lives. Airline Abrams was in her store when the same tornado blew out a glass window. Donald Trump indicted; expected to surrender next week
"Former president Donald Trump has been indicted by a Manhattan grand jury. The charges in the indictment against Donald Trump remain under seal, but stem from the investigation into hush money pay to porn actor stormy Daniels during the 2016 presidential campaign. The Manhattan district attorney's office says prosecutors have reached out to coordinate a surrender, while defense attorney Joseph tacopina, says Trump is likely to turn himself in on Tuesday, nima Romani is a former federal prosecutor. He's going to be fingerprinted and have this mugshot taken, but Secret Service will escort him to New York court, while he'll make his first appearance. His attorneys will plead not guilty, and he will be released on his own recognizance. Sources told The Associated Press, Trump's lawyers claim the Secret Service needs more time to make security preparations. One, just as Darren Kelly who I pointed to the bench back in 2016, this guy is like a Scalia on the state Supreme Court. He's brilliant. He is a judicial conservative, why stress that is, he's not a conservative activist. He's someone who understands as he rightly should, that the role the judiciary is to uphold the constitution and the rule of law and no more no less versus someone who's, we've seen liberals before, but we've never seen a candidate to be so outspoken in their radical activism out there, Milwaukee county, former district attorney, office member. That's the DA's office that let the guy who ran down to walk a shot county. They let this guy out in low cash bail and he killed all those people in the Christmas bridge. She comes out of that office. She's now a judge and lucky county Janet prototype which I call her no job Janet. She is someone who's got a horrific record of not putting violent criminals, people who rape children, people who raped even to a guy raped his own aunt, just horrible, horrible criminals. But this woman had gotten millions of dollars from George Soros and people on the left and West Coast and east coast in their pouring dollars into this state because of all the things that are at stake. And she's flat out said she's going to repeal our reforms. So we're pushing back. It went from a big gap to now where Kelly's just down by about two points, but Tuesday is going to be the key. Not only for Wisconsin. But arguably, if it comes to redistricting, it could affect who the next speaker is.

Zooming Out on the Recent Turbulence in the Banking Space
"Today, we are catching up on the macro as we had an important moment to understand how the powers that be were feeling in the wake of the last few weeks turbulence in the banking space. Indeed, the world for this FOMC meeting looked very different from where things were last time. At least or especially to the casual observer. Now, consensus had been building for a shift back to a larger 50 basis point hike. In early March Powell attended annual congressional oversight hearings and delivered a Frank assessment of the macro situation. He said, quote, if the totality of the data were to indicate that faster tightening is warranted, we would be prepared to increase the pace of rate hikes. Jobs and CPI data for February had shown some cooling but were beginning to tell the story of sticky high inflation. Interpreting this as guidance that a reacceleration in rate hikes was in the cards, markets quickly adjusted. Pricing in a 78 percent chance that the fed would deliver a 50 basis point hike. Just days later, however, when the bank run at Silicon Valley was in full swing, the odds of a faster height collapsed entirely. Some market participants began to price in a chance that the fed would pause rate hikes with the probability peaking at 45% at the height of the panic. On Tuesday night of this week heading into the FOMC meeting, however, markets had priced a 73% chance of a 25 basis point hike, with the remaining probability assigned to a rate pause. Importantly, while this might sound like a strong consensus, that's actually the most uncertain market position in recent fed history. The fed almost always follows the market, but with a major economic shock occurring so close to a fed meeting, it was hard to know how the FOMC would weigh volatile market pricing. Jim Bianco actually outlined this in an excellent Twitter thread earlier in the week. He shared that the only example of the fed going against market consensus in the post 1994 forward guidance era was in September 2008. Bear Stearns had collapsed in March leading to large rate cuts, but by June policy had stabilized. That Lehman Brothers filed for bankruptcy, the day before the FOMC meeting, and markets scrambled to price in a 68% chance of a rate cut, where they had previously been signaling the expectation of no move. Fed chairman Ben Bernanke ignored this repricing of policy and health rates steady. Three weeks later, however, the FOMC would hold an emergency meeting to deliver a 50 basis point rate cut as markets rapidly deteriorated.

One of the major criticisms of the database is that it includes BLM adjacent organizations, some of which have very little relationship to the communist nonprofit, as donations to BLM itself. But it's clear from the linked evidence that Claremont wasn't playing fast and loose with the associations. There were simply adopting the same logic as BLM's own corporate supporters. Which was also the exact same logic used by none other than The Washington Post when they published in August 2021 article chiding delinquent mega corporations for failing to follow through on their pledges to BLM the year prior.

I think the Americans are pretty weary of Congress right now and let's drag out another one of my famous polls. This is from our friends over at the Economist, YouGov falls very a good poll with those I and currently they say that only 8% of Americans strongly approve of the job the lawmakers are doing on Capitol Hill, right, 8% strongly approve. Let's go down to our numbers here really quickly, Rick. 30% of U. S. Adults strongly disapprove of the job. The U. S. Congress is doing that includes 47% of Republicans, 40% of Independence and 12% of Democrats as well. 21% overall somewhat disagreed. The job performance that includes 26 of Republicans at 21% of independents and 22% of Democrats and 16% and may be approved or disapproved kind of impossible orders of same for the rest of our demographics. They're only 15% somewhat approve that includes 5% of Republicans, 12% of independents. And 27% of Democrats. 8% strongly approve that for the 3% of Republicans, 4% of independents and 17% of Democrats and 10%. Not sure at all again. This is an economist. You go, Paul.
