Former Speaker of House Newt Gingrich on the Democrats' Midterm Plan

"That I'm a little paranoid about though, mister speaker, and I talk about this openly on the program, is that the Democrats have some sort of plan for the midterms that we might not yet be gaming out correctly because I have so much respect for our opposition and how Machiavelli and they are and how they're able to use tragedy for their own purposes. What do you think their midterm plan is? Because up until recently, you know, as per your example of the Saudi Arabian visit, it seems as if they are enthusiastically accelerating over a cliff. Political consequences be damned, I suppose, what's your thoughts? Well, I think first of all, I help publish papers in the 1980s called the Grenada papers. When we liberated the island of Grenada, which spoke English, this was an island occupied largely by Africans living in the Caribbean with agriculture and tourism as there are two biggest incomes. And the communists took it over. And as the communists tried to impose communism, everything fell apart. It was a disaster. So we now know because this is how we got to the Grenada papers. Because everything they wrote was in English. So we didn't need to translate the State Department couldn't screw it up. And it turns out that the leadership of the Communist Party of Grenada, when everything was failing, would meet every Tuesday afternoon for a study group. And what they were studying was not supply side economics. It wasn't Milton Friedman. It wasn't Adam Smith. What they were studying was Stalin's writing. Now, you have a Georgian bank robber who becomes dictator of a country that covers 13 time zones, living in Moscow and really bad cold winter, being studied by African descended, Caribbean native native folks were looking around going, what should we do next? Well, what does Stalin think we should do? The reason I tell you this story is, when AOC gets in a room, she doesn't have any point of reference. But I mean, Biden's different. Biden doesn't have a point of reference because he's not sure what rumi said. But I guarantee you that Newsom Kamala Harris, barriers, other people, senator Warren, Bernie Sanders, who remember honeymooned in the Soviet Union. I mean, just ask yourself, a guy who is born who lives born in Brooklyn, but a guy who was living in the forest of Vermont. Besides to go on a honeymoon, does he go to the Caribbean? Does he go to the beach now? He goes to the motherland to the great forest of Russia from the forest of Vermont. I mean, this isn't true believer.

Some Players Aren't Convinced by US Soccer's 'Identical' Men's and Women's Contracts

"So. This story arose on tuesday afternoon. That us soccer has offered identical contracts to both the us men and women On the surface you would look at that and say oh well the. Us would have been asking for equal pay and it appears as though they have achieved that they do not see it that way. No they don't they issued a tweet from their. Us national team he eh. So players association us pr stunts and bargaining through. The media will not bring us any closer to a fair agreement. In contrast we're committed to bargaining in good faith to achieve equal pay and the safest working conditions. Possible the proposal. That usf made recently recently to us does neither. Now here's where we have a problem. what i would say is knowledge vacuum. I don't know what was in that proposal. I don't know the ins and outs of the pause. meg From the athletic. Who just great on this she tweets. Us soccer just issued a statement on the us women's national team on us mnt cba's it states that usf has offered identical contract proposals today proposing single cbs structure with revenue sharing usf believes best way to achieve these important goals is by the us women's national team players association on the us ns tpa negotiating together. That's the men's association however this quote marks this is from us soccer if the players association's choose to continue to negotiate separately as they have to date us. Soccer will invite the us women's national team to sit in on the negotiations with the us ns and vice versa in the interest of full transparency

"What's going on in your life doing it consistently and when you can do that even with some little thing even just some random thing like if you if you can't do that with things like creating content just try to build some consistency with reading book about success. Read a page a night. Just read one page a night every night. One page a night every night. Even doing those things will help you to start to develop that discipline and consistency and it will start to spill over into your life and those those things that i have done consistently while they haven't been the hardest things i've done. In fact a lot of them have been really kind of like fundamental basic stuff. Not difficult at all. But those things as i've done then consistently over time have been the things had the biggest impact on my life and really in the shortest amount of time right like i didn't really start to implement this. Do a little bit everyday kind of mentality until about five six years ago and it's amazing. The change that has happened in those five to six so look. I hope you got something out of these three thoughts on tuesday afternoon again. Thanks to justin goffin his emails. Which i think are fantastic. If you're not on his list you should be but for giving me the idea to do this. Another year around the sun forty eight years old. And i couldn't be more grateful for the life i have today and for you for listening to this podcast. I really appreciate it. I hope you got something out of it. And i will see you next week on. What's the secret podcast if you enjoyed this episode. If you could do me a favor go to wherever you listen to podcasts. And leamy review. I'd really.

"Thought number two. I i i guess i already a blur. Blurb thought number two dot number two is really about how you can take something. That's working and adapt it to you. So i mentioned in the beginning about justin goffin his emails. And that's exactly what i did with this episode rate. I saw his sunday morning emails. I like them. I enjoy them. I read them every sunday. I usually don't skip any because there are short to the i'm like. Wow this works. I think this is good. How can i apply this to what i'm doing now. I didn't just want to copy justin and send it in an email. I've seen other marketers do that right. They'll send an email three thoughts on whatever on a friday and they'll say hey for this. I'm you know i wanna shout out to just i mean. At least they'll give them credit in the email. I'm taking a a thing from justin's playbook right just like i did in this episode. I tend to not like to do that. So i like to try to adapt them to some other mediums. So how. Can i use an idea that i think is good but in a way that's different from what other people are doing so in this case i did it for a podcast episode. Three thoughts on a tuesday afternoon right. You know somebody who i saw do this really well. A while back was stephan georgia who also who lives here in vegas and stephon stephan at an email called five bullet thursday or or maybe. It was even five bullet friday. Which was really interesting. Because tim ferriss has this email. That comes out called five bullet friday. And i wish i could remember exactly what stephens subject line was for this because i thought it was so clever because i always read the five bullet friday emails from tim..

"More i can see things clearly. The easier i'm able to deal with in handle situations and the better i can handle them emotionally right. I tend to make better decisions. So you know. If i'm in a business deal with someone that i think maybe does some shady things and they do something shady like it doesn't totally catch me off guard and sometimes i can prepare for that where i can avoid the deal altogether right but it all starts with being able to know myself. No you know my part in things being able to accurately evaluate the other person and be realistic about it being. You're gonna hear that term a lot in this part realistic being realistic about it. And then seeing the situation for what. It really is not for what i wanted to be. Not for what somebody else wants to be. What the reality of the situation is and that thinking in those terms more important than the actual results that happened so if i'm able to go into a situation and do all of those things effectively but still the deal doesn't work out or the thing doesn't go right. I'm okay with that. Because i know that if i continue to to to think correctly about the things i'm doing eventually something is going to work. It doesn't always work. It's great example. I've been playing a little poker while. I'm here in vegas. I was thinking about doing a whole episode on this. But i'll give you a little teaser in poker just because you have the best hand when you start doesn't mean you win by the end right or just because you're ahead when you get all your money in the middle doesn't mean you end up winning the hand. All of your thinking could be completely correct. You know that you have the other guy beat at this point. You could do everything right. Put all your money and still lose the hand. That's kind of that's good. I think analogy of what i'm talking about here is what's important. Is that you think correctly that you have the right strategic thinking and you do things the right way not the end result that you get because more often than not. You'll be successful but sometimes you're not going to be successful then. You may not be successful a lot of times in a row but if you can you know and if you're not success in a lot of times in a row when you have to look at your thinking and go okay well am i making them right. This like are these sound decisions that are that are favorable to me right. That are the correct decisions to be making an if they're not you adjust it but if they are the nice just the way it goes right. Life doesn't always participate the way we want. So that's number one this.

So i'm subscribed to an email from justin golf and justin. Does this thing on. Sundays called three things on a sunday morning. Every sunday he sends out three thoughts on sunday. It's a great idea right because he doesn't have to think about what he's going to write on sundays like he's got a format and he just fills in the format each week. A really great lesson there. If you're a content creator. But the lesson. I want to highlight for us. Well is. I'm constantly looking at what people are doing and other mediums and seeing if there's a way to translate that into the mediums i use so not saying you copy someone but like in this case you know justin does an email. I'm thinking well. How can i turn something. He's using an e mail into something in an audio format rate. So change it up a little right. I wouldn't do it in email and see how that goes over. So that's how we got to three thoughts for a tuesday afternoon Thanks justin i appreciate. I appreciate that. So let's let's get into the three thoughts so the first thing i want to highlight is that rate. Thinking is more important than results. And let's break that down a minute. So that term rate thinking that comes from napoleon hill. It's something he talks about. I think in the laws of success. Dan kennedy also talks a lot about right thinking and how. That's one of the kind of missed things in napoleon hill and what that what that means to me right. Is that if i can view situations for the reality that they are not what i want them to be. Like if i can see myself and understand myself and who i am and all those things i can see the other people for who they are and how how they are and i can see the situation for what it is in reality. Not some you know a lot of times. I struggle with all three of those things. Right like i tend to look at myself in the best light and maybe you know. I think my intentions are good when maybe they're not. Sometimes i do that with other people where i expect expect them. Maybe i have some evidence that they've acted in a way that isn't good but i expect them to act in a good way when they interact with me right or even the situations can be the same thing where i'm not seeing things clearly and so you know my experience show me the.

Just absolutely fascinating. And it's something that i've seen in client consultations where there is some health concern or there is You know some type of of Malady and it's amazing. How your your home and your body or kind of mirrors for one another. It's very interesting and then again. Your body is a mirror for your life and it's not such a stretch of the imagination to imagine that but you know. Of course we Sometimes have things happen to us that Like cancer or something. That just kind of comes out of the blue and I don't always believe that that is going to be reflected necessarily in your home but sometimes it is. I can see it. It's really interesting but you know so don't feel like you know. Oh it's everything has to do with your functionaries. Sometimes we just you know we get. That's just how it happens but let's talk about some of those cases where there is a little symbolism going on that there is something showing up in our health and in our lives that that's being reflected in our health.
