Can We Trust Our Intelligence Agencies?

"Get a lot of questions of you asking Charlie, how do you feel about the midterms? How do you believe we're trending? Things are getting better. They really are. I'm very worried about this Nord stream situation though. This Nordstrom situation could be a curve ball could be something that nobody anticipated in more ways than one. Tucker Carlson had some phenomenal coverage of this last evening. Let's start with cut 81 and walk ourselves through it. Play cut 81. But we should tell you that maybe not coincidentally today a brand new pipeline was unveiled. The pipeline that carries non Russian natural gas in roughly the same area as Nord streams one and two. This is called the Baltic pipe. It was inaugurated in Poland. It will carry natural gas from Norway through Denmark to Poland and other countries nearby. And it's likely to do very well since now, it has less competition. It's a very sad moment where I have to take pause and wonder if our government was behind this. It would be so unspeakably reckless and irresponsible. I am not saying our government is behind it. I'm asking a question. The same government that exaggerated to the extent of the weapons of mass destruction in Iraq invaded a sovereign country, lied about the origins of COVID, lied about the underlying problems of the 2008 financial crisis. Asking about all these things. Our government has not earned our trust. Latest report shows that our government is involved in over 23 proxy conflicts across the world, 23 proxy conflicts. Would our government actually make a very bold step to intervene in the sense of destroying an international pipeline?

Breitbart's Matt Boyle Describes What Breitbart Means to Him

"Been a bright Bond. How long? Ten years now. Okay, ten years. Tell us a little bit about what breitbart means to you as a journalist and a conservative, and for those who aren't familiar with Andrew, I sat there. I worked for breitbart. You know I was the national security editor before I joined the Trump administration. But I never got to meet him. So why is he so different? I think one thing is fearlessness, but you tell our listeners and our viewers. It wasn't just fearlessness. Yes, it was fearlessness, and we see a lot of that across the conservative movement. Now, a lot of people out there being fighters obviously Donald Trump is probably the preeminent example of that. But it's not just the fearlessness. He was downright funny, too. Like if you ever hung out with Andrew, and I would do it. I never actually worked at breitbart when he was alive. He always tried to convince me to come over. I worked for Tucker Carlson. At daily caller, yes. So Tucker was my first editor. I've been blessed to have some great mentors. So I got to know Andrew breitbart really well. Yes. Yes. Totally changed my life. I changed my perspective on banks. Why? Tell us why. What was special about his perspective? He approached it from, so I was in journalism school. I was getting a master's degree. When I met Andrew breitbart, so I was freelancing and working part time for daily caller while I was going to American university for a master's degree in journalism. And then this was during the Tea Party movement in 2010. And I was doing a story for the daily caller on bias against conservatives by the left media at these Tea Party rallies where they were going out and interviewing people and then selectively editing them and deceptively editing the videos to make conservatives at these rallies. It's a good people that were going out to these Tea Party rallies to make them look like racists. And so I was looking for somebody to talk to. And I think it was Tucker who recommended. I reach out to this guy, Andrew breitbart. I'd never heard of him before. So I sent him this big long well thought through, press request email. And I went through the journalism training that you're supposed to act like your objective and you're supposed to, this, that and the other. Andrew and I started talking about this in about the flaws in the industry and it was him who I think convinced it was among other people, but it was him talker a few others that convinced me that the biggest flaw in the media industry that you see this across the board in The New York Times Washington Post et cetera is that they claim to be objective. There's no such thing as objectivity. And frankly, a lot of the bias that you see inserted into the media is unintended.

Gavin Newsom Isn't Worried About Trump, He's Worried About Tucker!

"Newsom decided to spend some of his commentary in saying, look, I'm not worried about Trump as much as I'm worried about Tucker Carlson. Play cut 68. I worry about Trump. We're about trumpism. I worry more about Tucker Carlson. I worry about Iran desantis. He's a bully. He threatened the special Olympics in 27 $1 million in fines. Who does that? You guys, I mean, I have it habit is light years ahead and policy and desantis, but desantis is weaponized it. Next level. So yeah, I worry about Trump because, you know, Trump has proven that democracy is now partisan. Which is a remarkable. Could you imagine being in that audience? Wow, that's so profound. Yeah, democracy is partisan. I'll be honest, the more I hear of Gavin Newsom, the more I believe he's totally beatable. And this is interesting. I mean, if Trump runs in 2024, which it looks like it'd be an inevitability that he's going to run in 2024, or if it's desantis or whatever, you look at the average Republican candidate. You take mastriano, you take Carey Lake, you take Blake masters, you take Herschel Walker, you take JD Vance. They are far and way more articulate than Gavin Newsom, why? They have to deal with legitimate questions on a daily basis.

Gavin Newsom 2024?

"Might be a spirited Democrat primary. However, I think that there is a good chance that Gavin Newsom will run for office and will become the nominee Gavin Newsom raises buckets of money. He is unfortunately very well liked by the kind of donors of the Democrat party. He's more articulate than not, even though when you listen to him in some of these tapes, he thinks he's super smart. He thinks he's super profound. He's been taking acting classes. You could tell from DiCaprio and Brad Pitt with the pregnant pauses and the elongated, let's just say, focus on certain words, very dramatic. And so let's just focus on Gavin Newsom for a second because Gavin Newsom made a very interesting comment over the weekend where he decided to use his platform his interview at the Texas tribune event. I think that's the name of the event. Texas tribune event, Ted Cruz is there Hillary Clinton was there. Gavin Newsom was there. Liz Cheney was there. And some people said, oh, why was Ted Cruz there? I don't like that he was there. No, he got interviewed. It was an interview format. The Texas tribune far left wing rag. They actually did a pretty good job of interviewing Liz Cheney and as an appropriate follow-up question. And then they had some sort of duck doing activists that I think fills in for Rachel maddow now, interviewing Gavin Newsom. Gavin Newsom has a cult like following amongst, let's just say upper middle class, not very happy suburban women. Upper middle class not very happy suburban women are big fans of Gavin Newsom. They find them comforting, confident, they like his directional leadership. The polls reflected, I've heard it firsthand. It's weird, it's bizarre, it's perplexing. We don't have to fixate on it too much. But Gavin Newsom is able to raise a lot of money, the media loves him. He's not totally stupid or dumb. I don't think he's as articulate as he thinks he is, because I don't think he's ever had to go up against a true rigor of a Republican opposition. So I just think his muscles are not really built for a four quarter fight or a 13, 14, 15 round boxing match, if you will. I don't think Gavin Newsom will be able to withstand the conservative media such as this program, Ben Tucker and others going after him because he's been nothing but lauded and praised that his entire life from mayor of San Francisco eventually to become governor of California.

Fresh update on "tucker" discussed on ToddCast Podcast with Todd Starnes

"Governor Mike cocky is on the patriot mobile newsmaker line today, governor, I know you're out and about. There was some video that we just posted on our social media pages, a very bizarre scene unfolding at the rose garden where there was a small stage erected, and after President Biden's remarks, he got lost on this tiny stage, the First Lady can be heard in the microphone saying just go this way, Joe. So he tries to start following her, then he turns around and goes the other way, it's just bizarre, but then earlier in the day, governor Huckabee, this is what I want you to weigh in on. President Biden was giving remarks and he made a reference to congresswoman Jackie walorski who had died back in August. He actually thought she was in the room, take a listen. They want to thank all of you here for including bipartisan elected officials like representative government, senator Braun, senator Booker, representative, Jackie, are you here? Where's Jackie? I didn't think she was going to be here. To help make this a reality. No, she wasn't going to be there because she's dead. Governor Huckabee, I mean, what do you say about all of this? It was really just bizarre to think that he had just seen a video paying tribute to congresswoman. So he's just seeing that she's passed away. They're giving her a memorial video and then he says, yeah, where are you, Jackie? Well, she's probably a defeat of Jesus right now, and she's unavailable to come to The White House. It was embarrassing. And I feel bad about it all. But this tells us that you can't just keep covering for Joe Biden. He's just not really fully aware of his surroundings, and you mentioned walking off the stage. Every time he's on a stage, when he stops, he turns off the podium, he puts his hands out in front of him, and it's like he either shakes hands with cash for the ghost, are he just wonders aimlessly about until finally somebody comes and gets him. It used to be they would tell him in the teleprompter what to do, but he kept reading the instructions off the prompter as if it was part of the text. So now they just let him wonder around and whatever it is, it's just, it's awful. Just awful. It's terrible. And it's very sad what's happening, and I know you can't control what happens when you get old, but somebody needs to, I think the reason why nobody's doing anything is because this is the way they want him to be. So whoever is pulling the strings can do what needs to be done in The White House, and that leads me to this last story, a Tucker Carlson weighing in on this and he raised the question that probably needs to be raised about the Nord stream pipelines, clearly they have been sabotaged and Tucker said, did we do this? Because Biden promised to do it back in February, he said of Russia and vetted Ukraine, the pipelines were gone. And now they're gone. It would be very nice for The White House to issue a very firm and unequivocal denial about it. Otherwise, that speculation not only will exist here in the United States among critics of Joe Biden, but can you imagine what's being discussed right now in Europe and among our NATO allies, as well as what Putin might be thinking that Joe, in fact, was good on his promise just like he said back when he was vice president, that if they didn't fire a prosecutor who was coming after his son, they don't get a $1 billion of U.S. aid. And then he gives the famous rather profane comment and says, by golly, 6 hours later, that guy was fired that prosecutor and they got the money. And I always wonder, why wasn't there a congressional investigation? We need to know, did we have anything to do with the Nord stream pipeline? Or as Kareem John Peter calls it the Nordstrom pipeline as if it was built by the department store. Jeez. Unbelievable. Very dangerous days in this country governor as we head to the midterms and I hope people are paying very close attention because this could unravel very quickly and we could find ourselves in a shooting war with somebody..

Is It Safe to Send Your Kids to College in NYC?

"My daughter is a junior in high school and she has a heart settle and attending the King's College in New York City. My wife believed and I believe she has the qualifications. Weed a tour. We love the school. We have close family friends, though who are saying, don't send her because of what they've seen like when shows like Tucker Carlson. I mean, what's is there to collapse of civilization happening in New York City right now? Is it safe for her to come? What do you think, Eric? So that's the big question. Should people send their children here to New York City for college for two to four years? And I actually see the questions in front of me. The woman says I've listened to every podcast that we've done on this program in 7 years since the very first one with Alice von Hildebrand. So I'll heal your hear your answer if you take this one on the air. Oh my goodness. Yeah. Oh my goodness. That was on Hitler's birthday 7 years ago. We said, how can what can we do on Hitler's birthday? The show starts on April 20th. What do we do? And we said, how about getting the widow of one of the greatest enemies of Adolf Hitler on the program that was Elvis and Hildebrand? Wow. Okay. Well, the answer to that question is, I understand the concerns, but I think if you have wisdom, you don't need to worry about these kinds of things. What I'm saying is if your daughter has wisdom, young people, sometimes lack wisdom, but I honestly think that if you come to New York City, you pretty quickly figure out what's safe, what's not safe. If you're in a college environment, you're not just wandering around. So I think a lot of this stuff is overblown. In other words, I think that you see the worst of everything on the news and you think, you know, I get phone calls from people. And I think what are you talking about? That's not happening a lot. It's so rare, but if anything bad happens, they put it on the news.

"Area. But you guys know what to do. You've been through these kinds of storms before. Brand new polling data out from grinnell college national poll just 41 days until we retake America. We retake the Congress and we stop the Biden Obama agenda. Just 36% of voters approve of Joe Biden's job performance. That stunning. 51% disapprove of the president. And that's not all. Only 21% of Americans are satisfied with the direction of Biden's America. That's from a Gallup poll. Gallup also found 56% of Americans say Biden's 40 year high inflation has caused them hardship. That's up from 49% in January, 45% in November. So a lot of people are hurting out there and a lot of people are looking to the Republicans for answers. Overall, just 20% believe Biden's economy is good too fairly good. 77% say it was bad. Among independents 51% say Biden's economy is very bad. 2% and this is the key among independents. 2% of independents say Biden's economy is very good. All of that to say, and we're going to keep reminding you of these stances we move closer to the midterm elections. But I believe that we are looking at a massive tsunami. I would say it's going to be a 100 foot political storm surge. And it's going to sweep across this nation because people are fed up, they're disgusted. They're tired of the economic hardships. They're tired of the schools indoctrinating their kids. They're tired of the sex and gender revolutionaries. They're tired of the millions of people coming across the border illegally and they're tired of having to foot the bill for somebody else's war. They're just tired. And I suspect we are going to see a massive uprising on election day. And I hope you are encouraged by that. 8 four four 747 88 68. That's our toll free telephone number. That's 8 four four. 747 88 68. Now I want to get to this Tucker Carlson piece last night. Tucker weighed in on this crazy story about the Nord stream pipeline. Two of the two of the pipelines were sabotaged. We believe blown up. They're leaking natural gas under the Baltic Sea. It is a mess out there. And the question is, who did it? It's kind of like the big whodunit. Unfortunately, we can not ask matlock or Agatha Christie to go and investigate. But a lot of people are pointing the finger at President Biden. Now, you've got the Polish and Ukrainian leaders, they're blaming Russia for the attack, Russia state media says it's either the United States or Ukraine who did this. But regardless, it's causing big problems. We know from CNBC's reporting that the U.S. embassy in Moscow telling Americans to get out of the country. Now what does that mean? What does that tell you? Is it possible that Russia also had the same audio we had back when President Biden said if Russia ever invaded Ukraine, there would no longer be a pipeline..

North Dakota Liberal Free From Jail After Killing Republican Teen

"The North Dakota man, who the authorities say, ran over a teenager with his car killing him over a political argument and the driver of the car claimed that he ran the kid over because he was an extreme Republican or a Republican extremist I think was where the words he used, he was released from jail already. He spent just a couple of days in a county jail on criminal charges related to the death of 18 year old Taylor ellingson. Have you heard of this case? You see it on Tucker Carlson last night? Have you heard about the 18 year old? Who called his mom terrified? Said this guy was chasing him down. Do you know this guy? Before you know it, the mom shows up, the kid's dead. The 18 year old run over with his car with this guy's car, Shannon Brant. And he told the judge, I want to go home. I love my family. And he told authorities I ran him over because he was a Republican extremist. He's home and people who were in the capitol on January 6th are still in jail.

Tucker Carlson: Javier Salazar Is Using Biden's Talking Points

"And his Tucker pointed pointed out, it's hard not to continue to be amazed by this story. Check out Tucker's monologue last night when he talked about bear county sheriff, Javier, Salazar. As we understand it, 48 migrants were lured, and I will use the word lured under false pretenses into staying at a hotel for a couple of days. They were taken by airplane at a certain point. They were shuttled to an airplane. Where they were flown to Florida, and then eventually flown to Martha's Vineyard. Again, under false pretenses, as the information that we have, that they were promised work, they were promised the solution to several other problems, we do have the names of some suspects involved that we believe our persons of interest in this case at this point, but I won't be parting with those names. I think to be fair, I think everybody on this call knows who those names are already, so I won't be naming any of them. That's appalling and shocking. For any law enforcement official, a guy who carries a gun and has a right to shoot you, to be parroting Biden administration political talking points in front of a camera. That man should be ashamed. That is completely over the top that he would say something like this. This is all crazy. We're being invaded and now they're talking about prosecuting Ron DeSantis because he sent 50 people to Martha's Vineyard to immediately deport us and they wouldn't get in the way of the food and wine festival. Tucker Carlson: Barack Obama Is Racist

"Obama's were in fact despised immigrants. So when they moved to a $12 million seaside compound on Martha's Vineyard, the point is not to live in luxury with other rich people. No, obviously, the point is to diversify Martha's Vineyard. To strike a blow for justice. That makes sense to us and we felt better. But then last night happened and we started to rethink our assumptions about the Obama it's about a lot of things. Because a plane load of highly diverse immigrants arrived on Martha's Vineyard to join the obamas, but the obamas didn't welcome them. There was not a word from Barack or Michelle Obama. Barack wasn't waiting at the airport to greet the diversifiers with flowers. He didn't issue a statement of congratulations. He didn't invite a single Venezuelan to his home. How come? Could it be that Barack Obama isn't really actually in real life in favor of diversity at all? Could it be that Barack Obama strongly prefers blond SoulCycle moms in Lululemon to sweaty third world campus sinos and dirty work pants? Could it be? We can't say. But we can tell you that if you want to find out what people really think, go ahead and ignore what they say and watch how they live. And by that measure, the one that matters Barack and Michelle Obama are every bit as bigoted as any board member in any restricted country club in the Deep South, assuming those still exist. Those people, they're not dating my daughter, I can tell you that. In other words, we learned this week that Barack Obama really is a racist and not in the way you've always assumed. Obama may heat white people, he certainly seems to, but he also demands to live around them and only them. But the obamas to be fair are not alone in this. His friends at the news networks in Washington, New York and Los Angeles feel exactly the same way because they're exactly the same sort of people. You want to talk real fierce Tucker's fears. "The great Kerry Lake who needs to be Arizona's next governor say on TV last night, she's not really a big fan of this practice of states like Texas and Florida, delivering illegals to other states. Carries objection is she doesn't want to see illegals go further and further inland. And I get that argument. She also pointed out to Tucker Carlson last night how hysterical it is and how amazing it is to watch sanctuary cities suddenly not want to be sanctuary cities when the rubber meets the road. When the illegals are dropped off in their sanctuary city, suddenly they want to ship them out. They don't want to be a sanctuary city anymore. They're all talk. And no action.

Yes, I was going to go stump for you up in New Hampshire, but some things matter more than that. But we are going to help any way we can. Caroline, some of our audience is aware of you, especially in the last week, you went on Tucker, you've been on Bannon. Tell us about your race and talk about how it's become a proxy war for the conservative movement at large. Yeah, well, thank you so much. This is my home seat, New Hampshire's first, grew up here, born and raised. Business family went to school here, went to college here, and had the blessing of serving the best president in American history, president Trump and his White House. I was in his press office with Kayleigh McEnany, went to D.C., having only been there once before my life to help drain the swamp. And unfortunately, Joe Biden made his way into The White House. We all know why that happened. The Democrat regime took over. And did everything they could to get Trump out. So I lost my job, came back home last summer with a will to want to fight for the people of New Hampshire. And that's what I've done over the last year. You know, last summer, when I got into this campaign, nobody knew who I was. I had zero bucks in my campaign account. But I've been pounding the pavement, meeting as many voters as I possibly can. Now today we're 12 hours, 24 hours away from polls opening on primary day. We're in a dead heat tie with the establishments handpick. My opponent Matt mauer, who is a hand pick of the establishment, he's a puppet for the GOP in the shells down in D.C., the swamp. If you will, he's a longtime operative for Chris Christie, and he moved to my home state of New Hampshire to literally run for office.

A Lesson in Fighting Back With Steve Bannon

"Steve, welcome back to the program. How are you doing Charlie? Thanks for having me back, brother. The question is, how are you doing? Tell us about your last 24 hours. I'm doing great. You have to show you one of the best days of my life. It was a very powerful spiritual day for me. It was a lot of things were came into high clarity. It was, I was totally in the zone. As you say in sports the entire time and you know, they're not going to shut me up. We see, we saw from the demonic speech that Biden gave in Philadelphia, exactly that this is a dying regime that was a primal scream. And here what they're trying to do, no matter who it is, Donald Trump and Mar-a-Lago, they were 35 FBI raids yesterday, right? Handing out, there's another grand jury coming together on January 6th. The Washington Post reported it. They just reported a couple names. There were 35 senior members of maga, Republicans, supporters of Donald Trump that were the FBI rolled in on. When they didn't need to do it, remember all these people have lawyers, all their lawyers are very well known, no. The Jack booted Gestapo has got to show up at their door and make a big display of this. So there's so much going on that people don't even know at so many levels on people and bankruptcy, trying to de platform them. All of it. And quite frankly, I think that's what's so powerful about you guys have in this great reset conference because this is really what it's about. This is this globalist apparatus. That's right. This is the American arm of that, the Biden regime, and what they're trying to do is shut down everybody whether it's Alex Jones, Charlie Kirk, Steve Bannon, Tucker Carlson, Donald Trump, they're trying to use lawfare, financial terrorism, everything legally, and quite frankly, up to assassinations. That's where the swatting people like crazy. So we got to work at a force and if we blink, if you blink, it's over.

Tucker Carlson: We Have a Country With Parts Too Dangerous to Visit

"So it seems a little weird to a lot of people and someone like Liza Fletcher someone who could live anywhere voluntarily moves back to a place like Memphis, not to some suburb of Memphis, but to the city of Memphis. That seems weird to people, but it's not weird. It's not odd at all when you think about it. Why is your Fletcher was from Memphis? She grew up there and she had a right to come back. This was her country too, just as it's your country too. An American citizen should be able to live or walk anywhere in America without being raped or murdered for it. Period that is the baseline requirement for civilizations called order. But increasingly that it's not what we have. What we have is a country where you just can't go some places. You're not wanted there. And it's too dangerous for you to go. Most people accept this by default, but we should never accept this under any circumstances. To accept something is to concede that it is more or less normal. Once we acknowledge something as normal, whether it's children being castrated to the name of trans rights or women being murdered by rapists who should have been imprisoned but weren't because equity, once we accept that as normal, we are stuck with it forever. It is the new status quo. It will never change except to get worse. The good people who lived in Memphis, a century ago would never believe what has happened to the city they built. They would weep if they saw it. That will be the experience of every American before long. Our entire entire country will be Memphis. If we don't put a stop to this insanity right now with as much force as is required. I mean, Todd, there are literal streets I just say, nope. Don't live there. You know, I've been kind of looking for a house to live in because we live in an apartment. And they're a literal just straight and zip codes that I see on my search. And I'm like, nope. Not safe. I know it's not safe, not living there. Won't do

Tucker Carlson: Memphis Is Falling Apart

"A hundred years ago Memphis was one of the richest best organized cities in the country that had a booming economy. It had beautiful municipal parks a lot of them more than a hundred. It had one of the most modern sanitation systems in the world, something we take for granted now, but when yellow fever was real, no one took it for granted. Memphis was such a big deal that, in fact, was the informal capital of an entire American region, the Mississippi Delta. But not anymore. In fact, by the last year, if you went to Memphis, it was hard to believe that any of that had ever been true at any point because by that point and now Memphis had become a husk and a highly threatening one. In 2021, according to federal statistics, Memphis Tennessee was the most dangerous city in the United States. Last year it recorded a total of 342 murders. Now how many is that? Well, by comparison, San Antonio, Texas, which has more than twice the population recorded fewer than half as many murders. So by any measure at all, Memphis was absolutely falling apart.

Tucker Carlson: FBI Dramatically Interferred With the 2020 Election

"What Tucker Carlson has to say about that. Cut 7. Turns out the FBI dramatically interfered with the 2020 presidential election. Dramatically, unequivocally, this was election interference by the country's biggest law enforcement agency says Mark Zuckerberg remarkable. Yeah, it is remarkable because the FBI is now on the record. And by the way, the FBI admits they did all of this. They're just saying that they were just, it was a cautionary warning. Well, that's a load of hooey. Clearly, the FBI meddled in the 2020 presidential election. And we know that because they did it in the 2016 presidential election with the fake Russian dossier. But this is a profound moment in American history, ladies and gentlemen, because a new survey out nearly 80% of Americans say had the Hunter Biden had they known about the Hunter Biden laptop story, it would have impacted their vote in the presidential election. And other words, the FBI knew exactly what they were doing, everybody. They knew it. They knew that we would buy this hook line and sinker. And now the FBI, with the raid on Mar-a-Lago, is trying to meddle in the 2024 presidential election. The FBI is now a rogue government agency. And they do not have the best interest of the American people or law enforcement. Front and center.

John Ratcliffe: Why So Many Americans Mistrust the FBI

"Was what John ratcliffe, former director of national intelligence, pointed out to Tucker Carlson Friday night about the FBI. This was admitted by Mark Zuckerberg in the interview he gave to Joe Rogan that the FBI went to Facebook and said, essentially, shut down the Hunter Biden laptop story right before the election. And it's a big deal. Here was what John Radcliffe admitted to Tucker on Fox News Friday night. That selection interference, is it not? I don't know what else it would be. Yeah, it is election interference. You know, to the extent that these allegations are true that FBI agents were knowingly putting bad information out there, it absolutely, and the troubling part about this, Tucker is the FBI is the primary domestic authority for enforcing election security for making sure that people don't interfere with the American voters in American elections. And if they're engaged in election interference and we've got a real problem and I think that's why so many Americans mistrust the FBI at the current time and that's really unfortunate.

"tucker" Discussed on The Dinesh D'Souza Podcast

"Steve, what a pleasure, your first time on the podcast, thank you so much for joining me. As I look around the country, there's so much chaos on so many fronts going on with Biden. Did you expect this administration to be so far off the rails? Going into the midterms? Well, the Nash first grade to be with you. And I know we've met in person other settings, but it's great to be with you on this podcast. And yeah, if you think about it right now, I mean, we are a nation in crisis and it's on so many fronts. It's not like we've got an issue just in one area of the country. You know, we've got an inflation crisis. Gasoline, price crisis. We've got a border crisis. You know, you've got the government going after parents who get involved in their kids education, but then they're encouraging people to break federal law and go protest in front of Supreme Court Justices, houses to try to change the results of a court decision. I mean, this is how upside down things are. And you wonder why people are so livid and angry with President Biden's failures on all of these fronts. I mean, it's hurting families, low income families, especially paying more for everything, not just gasoline prices. But everything and it was so much better two years ago in terms of an economy ready to come back. People ready to come out of COVID with low gas prices, strong energy supply, a secure border, how much has changed in two years, I think, is shocked. A lot of Americans and not in a good way. Now, in some ways, this makes it really easy for the GOP because if Biden is bungling on all fronts and if his poll ratings are plummeting and he doesn't seem to know or care, the Republicans could sort of do nothing and probably do pretty well in the midterms. My question to you is, do you think the GOP needs a positive strategy of saying, listen, this is our agenda going forward. I mean, my mind is flashing back a little bit to 1994, gingrich and the contract with America. If you elect us, we will do these things. So far I don't think the Republicans have put forward that kind of agenda. Do they need to or is it is this the case because it's a midterm? Let's just make it a referendum on Biden. Yeah, and in fact, we are working on that and just starting with kind of where we are. You can see 32 Democrats have already said they're not running for reelection in the house. President Biden and Nancy Pelosi's popularity is in the tank, especially in swing districts around the country. We've got phenomenal candidates. I think we're going to have a great year, but there hasn't been an election yet. And there is no complacency. And by the way, I'm a big sports fan. I hate the prevent defense. So the idea that, you know, oh, we're going to win if we just sit back and do nothing. It's not who we are. It's not in our DNA. I'm a policy guy. I think now more than ever is the time to go run on a bold conservative agenda to show the country. They're already convinced that President Biden and Nancy Pelosi have wrecked the economy have destroyed so many of the fundamentals that make America great, but I think this is the best time to go show them what we're about. Why conservative policy so much better to fix these problems to get parents more involved in their kids education where they're shut out of schools. School choice, for example, dinesh, never a better time to talk about school choice and bold energy policy. But we've been meeting with Newt Gingrich and a lot of others, but our members have come together. And we're working on that kind of contract with American document. And it'll probably be called commitment to America. And we're looking at rolling out this summer. And if you think about the contract with American 94, it was rolled out closer to the election when people, you know, junkies like us are working on all of these issues all the time, but the public really starts focusing on elections by Labor Day. Once you get through primaries, we're still no states finished the primaries even. You know, it's very few states have. So let's go to this summer and you're going to see, and I think most Americans are going to be excited by this commitment to America when they see what conservative policy can do to secure the border to lower gas prices to address the supply chain crisis to secure our country and oh, by the way, you look at the crime in the streets where the left has gone for defunding the police and letting people out on no bail, confronting some of those challenges as well. And I think there's never been a better time to contrast failed liberalism with bold conservatism. One of the things I notice on social media is there's a lot of kind of score machine going on between people who see themselves as sort of the maga types versus the Republican establishment. Now, when I look at the actual issues, it doesn't seem like there's a radical difference of position. In other words, even people who call themselves American nationalists, it's kind of like if I were to say, you know, my family comes first, it doesn't mean I don't care about my neighbors, so I don't care about my community. There's no reason why one can combine America first with a kind of prudent internationalism, but here's my point..

"Had to pull the rear fenders to get the wheels off. Before any production could get started, Preston's best business idea caused some problems for a team Tucker. After the war, the big three had more demand than vehicles and they too launched waiting lists, but they decided veterans of the great war would jump to the top of the line and take priority. Preston launched what he called the Tucker accessories program where if you bought a bunch of custom accessories, you jumped to the front of the line, but the government specifically the Securities and Exchange Commission did not like this one bit. Tucker responded by taking the SEC on head first through a series of full page ads that declared his goals of building a new car were imperiled because of politics at the SCC. But it was too little too late. Dealership started lawyering up and sending letters to Preston to get their money back. Now the SEC was not messing around. They came in hard and fast taking control of the corporation forcing a reorganization. On June 10th, 1949, after a long trial, pressed it in 6 other executives at Tucker corp, were indicted on 25 counts of mail fraud. 5 counts of violating SEC regulations, and a single count to the fraud. Preston maintained that the charges were said, this is a chance for him to show his side of the story and win over the American public, but trials don't really work like that. Tucker corp got slapped around for a few weeks in the courtroom while every publication from colliers to reader's digest printed leaked statements and documents from the SEC report that made Preston Tucker look like a con man. Man, this sucks. It seems like he really has just good intentions and got dragged. You think he's a con man? For sure. During the trial of the government accused press and Tucker have never intending to produce any actual cars. They brought disgruntled former Tucker employees onto the stand where they swore on a Bible that Preston's team would have to reinstall early suspension designs before they got them working properly. Do you want your employees to be gruntled at all times? You don't want them to ever become disgruntled. You want them nice and gruntled. Yeah, you got to keep them gruntled. They also outlined how Tucker used junkyard parts to build prototypes and did anything it took to create working models, which I 100% believe. Tucker's current employees took the sand and exclaimed hogwash. That's how building a car works. You throw stuff together until you get a working model that improve upon it. The SEC for its part wouldn't budge. They accused Tucker corp of never making a real car and they brought up a dealer that Tucker had partnered with to sell the cars. Under cross examination, said dealer revealed that he'd lost $28,000 investing in Tucker. The defense also asked the dealer what kind of car he drove. It turned out to be an early Tucker 48 prototype that he daily drove with 38,000 miles on it and was as smooth as the day that Preston Tucker had given to him. He was pretty gruntled with that car. Yeah, he was disgruntled about losing the cash, but he's gruntled about the car. While the trial was underway, these nonexistent Tucker 48s were starting to become very, very real. The Tucker factory had completed a total of 50 fully operational 48s while the trial went on and on and on. They even drove them around town for everyone to see. Finally, the SEC called up their chief accountant. Joseph Turnbull, who's asked about Tucker financials. It turns out he'd taken in more than $28 million and spent less than 4 million on research and development. Turnbull claimed Tucker took $500,000 into his own wallet and had no intention of delivering an actual 48. What a rat the defense asked turn bull for any evidence of this and he said that he had none. Then when asked if he was suggesting any fraud occurred, turned both said no. But finally in an absolute shutdown of the SEC's accusations, Tucker's lawyers called shenanigans and said that either the Tucker corporation intended to defraud everyone and build no cars or he was in the process of building the cars right now. What? He said he called the bluff. He said, if we're defrauding, then we're not building cars. Do you want to check and see if we're building cars? The jury satin silence. Then lead defense attorney Daniel glasser invited anyone in the courtroom to take a ride in one of the 8 Tucker 48s parked outside in front of the courthouse. Mike drop. Boom, baby. That's a little mic. And clarence, parents have a real nice marriage. We'll get back to more past gas, but right now, a word from our sponsors. Within a day of deliberations, the jury returned a not guilty verdict for all of the accused. Well, Preston won the day, the Tucker corp was ruined. There were buried in debt, buried in lawsuits from angry Tucker lawyers and they'd lost the factory where they were making the cars. Preston Tucker took an in stride though, it took a while for his reputation to rebound, but it did come back. Meanwhile, the government auctioned off all of his assets. He was allowed to keep a single Tucker 48 as a symbol of his success, as well as his failures in battles. Bit of a pyrrhic victory there. Tucker worked to develop other cars, a zippy looking roadster. And some different designs. He tried to launch a new car company in Brazil, but it never went anywhere. And when he returned from his travels, Preston found himself weak and unable to work. Not long after, he succumbed to lung cancer. Otto kerner junior, the U.S. attorney who's so aggressively led the charge against Preston, found himself in the newspapers a few years later when he was convicted of 17 counts of bribery,.

"Participation may vary, single item at regular price, can not be combined with any other offer, combo meal. Eddie often lead mechanic for the Tucker corporation, pushed the Tucker 48 past 90 mph as the brick racetrack at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway chewed up the car's tires. More than a 150,000 people had written to Tucker, begging to know how they could buy a car that the Securities and Exchange Commission didn't believe even existed. Offit knew the car was real, though. He was currently guiding it around turn three at the brickyard. As the sun rose high above the Indiana cornfields surrounding the speedway, offutt took the next corner low on the track, and as he did, the Tucker's 334 cubic inch flat 6 motors stalled out. The rear engine rear wheel drive car hopped a bit on the bricks before the backside swung around. He struggled for control and the all new, right, rear tubeless tire exploded. The steering wheel spun and he fought hard as the car headed for the wall. Quick thinking got him aimed at the infield, where he wound up sideways for a brief second before flipping three times. The windshield popped out, and eventually the car stopped rolling and landed on its wheels. Off it pulled himself out of the wreckage as his team rushed to his rescue. They soon discovered the car had stalled because attack had dumped aviation fuel in the car instead of standard gas. Offit was battered and bruised, but not really injured, and the car started right back up with the correct fuel. While often thought of the crashes of setback, Preston Tucker saw the crash as an opportunity. Nothing team Tucker had done caused the wreck, and the card rolled three times and left the occupant and vehicle fairly unscathed. Aside from the bruises, it was a win win. How did the Tucker corporation of the 1940s develop one of the most innovative cars of the time, then fail to get it into the hands of consumers. Just what innovations did Tucker pack into his futuristic 48. How did an innovative sales process land him in hot water? Why did federal judges fight to block Tucker from not only releasing his cars to the public, but to even build them at all? Today I pass gas were taken a trip into the wayback machine to have a look at the world that could have been. If one dog had succeeded.

"Fox news television rocks. So that's who tucker. Carlson is when you see tucker. Carlson understand that's taliban carlson. That's who he is. He just cheerleader for them. It was amazing saying that. Their masculinity is not toxic and that they appear to be free etc. You i mean look read you the quote. You saw the video. These guys are monsters and if they got their way they would do this similar if not the same things as the taliban that would restrict everybody's freedom they would be authoritarian dictators and the very first people whose rights they would take away would be women's hundred percent well. We're not done whatever carlson. So let's move on and by the way. No i want to make one more point about that. Story i apologize. We did not spend nearly two trillion dollars by the way not one trillion recent estimates estimates indicated that we spent two trillion dollars on the war and afghantistan. Money did not overwhelmingly go toward curriculums pushing for equality in the country. That money overwhelmingly went to defense contractors and weaponry so don't buy the very clear deflection. The tucker. carlson is engaging in here because he would. Have you believe that everything know what's wrong with that. War was the identity politics that we engaged in. That's the kind of garbage that he's trying to push their and actually want to continue on with that point in this next story so on a nightly basis tucker carlson provides more evidence for why the right wing and the right wing. Populist do not in fact mesh well with left-wing populace. They might see similar problems in society very different solutions and see the world from a very different framework when it comes to the war in afghanistan what went wrong notice how tucker carlson is decided to latch onto identity politics as opposed to focusing on the process motives and the financial incentives of engaging in that warned the first place. "Classified report quote focusing on gender made things more unstable. Because it causes revolts. It caused revolts but officials kept doing. They kept pushing radical gender politics anyway because they could because they were in charge of these stone-age people they were going to educate. Why would i mean can you blame them for revolting against that kind of stuff. You know anything that would call for equality in that society. Can you blame them for wanting to push back against that. The so a lot of people that are decent human beings. Look at the situation. Now look obviously. The military occupation didn't work. We say they're twenty years and we got nothing and the minute we leave it turns out. No afghan military was a joke to government was a joke. It had no popular support but our hearts break for the women there that are going to have to suffer under taliban rule and tucker carlson goes are they really wrong and so now if you thought that was subtle at the end of the of that same and he got less than i'm going to renew the quote or caped now starts out similar but this is a different one than joe saw. He says it turns out. The people who have cancer don't actually want gender studies symposia. They didn't actually by the idea that men can become pregnant. They thought that was ridiculous. Now this sounds like the type of thing tucker says on the show. All the time about america right. We owe us conservative. We don't buy those ideas he continued. They thought that was ridiculous. They don't hate their own masculinity they don't think it's toxic they liked the patriarchy some of their women like it too so now they're all getting it back. So maybe it's possible that we failed in afghanistan because the entire neoliberal program is grotesque. That's why we feel enough ghanistan. I'm number guys. Do you understand that quote. He saying they don't like the patriarchy and us trying to tell them that. Hey don't toxic masculinity patriarchy. I'm sorry they love the patriarchy and maybe they're right. And the neal liberals are grotesque. The taliban is okay. The liberals are grotesque for say one you have the same rights and he says there are women like to italian's got this figured out. I mean that is literally tucker carlson. Fox news right wing leaders say tell biz onto softener patriarchy for the win right and and all those things are things that they complain about the right wing in this country complaints about an america. And now i mean are you look. He's saying that the talibans masculinity is not toxic. The one where they whipped women kill women. Women that's thought thought of it. They love it. You'd have to have a problem with it to find a toxic but the right wing in america has moved so i look the overton window. Conversations get a little annoying. Well we'll just be devolved. They devolved even further than what we experienced during the bush administration which was pretty bad to begin with right. During the bush administration it was non. Stop fear mongering about the very groups that they're now applauding the very groups. They want to model the right wing. After in america like think about how dire the situation is here within our own borders where they feel emboldened enough to look at the yvonne and look at the extremists in other countries. And saying you know what fighting on the wrong side. Maybe this is great. Maybe we need to implement some of these policies here in the united states. But it was always known chink. We've always known it. It's always been bubbling up right beneath the surface for the right wing in america. It was certainly true in all of the policies that they pushed for. I mean state after state red state after red state. Look at the types of rollbacks they've done on reproductive rights for women which by the reproductive rights for women are health rights for women. Women get to decide what they do with their own bodies should they become pregnant and it's not up to some politician to make that decision for her any yes. It's different from a covert vaccine because the corona virus pandemic has to do with a contagious virus. That harms other people. Okay so anyone who tries to make that comparison like walkaway kick rocks. And i've been calling them in american taliban for over a decade now. And that's because we're logical and we can see the things that they're pushing for now the mainstream media usually we used to be pre trump. Where their biggest defenders off or so fended that these radical leftwingers called our beloved tucker carlson and beloved fox. They were all trying to get jobs with fox news. The cnn msnbc guys before trump they would always kiss fox. News is s calling them. The american taliban that is outrageous that is inappropriate. Language is outrageous. Neither cheerleading for the taliban so irene makes a good point she's one of our members. We do the show with you guys. I reset if the taliban ran the us boettger wouldn't being government. That's right they don't allow women government yet. These this jackass comes on. Because i taliban building back better here. Let me see her tweet one more time. Put that up. Because i want you to think about this. So of course a lot of people have criticized or tweet is outrageous et cetera. There shearing against us. But now imagine if ilhan omar had sent this tweet the taliban or only people building back better would have said that. Ilhan omar's against america. She's for the alabata and here she is. She did a.

"Art back on ty t. Jank anna with you guys. Forward in the united states has pulled its troops out of afghanistan and the taliban has taken control over the country. We're getting a sense of just how far right the right wing in the united states has gone because they went from fear mongering about the taliban to now giving them props. Let's start with lauren bogert. Who is a republican member of congress should tweeted. The taliban are the only people building back. Better oops i mean. I is an oops though i mean. It's okay for us because we certainly wouldn't want to live under the control of a group d'italia ban but for conservatives in the country for right wingers in the country for people like lauren bogert taking people's rights away apparently seems like a great idea. Yeah well there's two parts of this. One is their enormous celebration anytime. Something wrong happen to america. The women's soccer team lost. Oh we hate america. wait what happened. This is weird. All the taliban beat us all go bill better. Now right wingers go. She's joking is she. No she's not okay and and even then allowed to joke about our other enemies like go. Isis nazis build back better. We believe in you can she. Is that okay. i mean here. She is cheerleading for the taliban. Now that we're at least the second part. Well do they really disagree. I mean taliban is Again solo things arrogance against abortion against vaccines against signs against doctors Against against women's rights against abortion. I mean to say any like and in fact. That's gonna lead to some of the others that i wanna come back and let me be clear about something. I see a very significant problem with avoiding valid criticism of any given government or any given group in the name of preventing. Us imperialism right. So i think that you can be against the united states occupying a country like afghanistan. So i'm very much favor of the troop withdrawal and simultaneously acknowledged the fact that the taliban is not a wonderful group that we would want to live under especially considering the brutality that they've used against a certain groups of people who don't follow along with their extremist views. So just wanted to get that out of the way but we do have other examples for you including nick fuentes who shared his thoughts about the taliban. He argues that the taliban is going to ban abortion vaccines and gay marriage. Maybe we were fighting on the wrong side for twenty years there. You go perfect fundamentalists of of feather nailed it. I'm here all week anyway. Dentist same. that's the bottom line right. They flock together or something like that. So that's the white nationalist and he thinks like i love fundamentalism or the taliban man. If you're on the wrong side maybe we should side with that taliban i mean how is that for deeply ironic. And he's not joking. I mean he. He is against all of those positions and he is saying like mo maybe. They got point token girls at last night. Well let's let's go to tucker carlson's video from last night because he's a little more subtle but pay close attention to what he argues went wrong with the. Us efforts in afghanistan.

"I think that that's the wrong way to handle the situation. Especially when biden himself. Campaigned as someone who was far more humane than donald trump was toward immigrants also The co founder of the haitian bridge alliance argues that you know. How can the united states government deport anyone to haiti right. Now how do you think so. Little of haitian lives deporting children and babies in the middle of the chaos. This is a clear example. External violence that continues to deepen the instability in haiti and i completely agree with that statement especially right now given all of the devastation that haitians are dealing with right now. the by the administration should take a stand lead from a place of strength as opposed to taking the cowardly root of trying to appease the right wing which will never be appeased. The right wing has moved so far the right that it doesn't matter what's happening. In haiti they want everyone deported. Even if it's children who are being deported to haiti. They're not going to give you credit for it though so move on and lead for a place of strength and we're just not seeing that when it comes to the topic of immigration from the from joe biden's administration by. Does he want tucker carlson to do a segment. Saying joe biden is kicking out these black kids from the country and sending them back into a disaster area and they would help celebrate that. But do you think tucker is going to do that segment. And would you be happy if he did okay. Congratulations on your discriminatory. Anti-immigrant anti-american policies. That will you want is at the credit you on no just please gather up some courage if you believe in doing the right thing or if you think hey you know what. I don't really care about them. I want to get rid of them. Well okay but that is what you're doing. Let's just be honest about it all right. Let's take a break when we come back It appears that the right wing in america actually wants to have a little bit of a love affair with the taliban. We'll give you the details on that more when we return. I remember when i went on late. Night with seth myers..

"Populations rise in the past decade I think i've read that buffalo's population went up for the first time and many decades Three big cities in texas houston san antonio and dallas outpace the national average We'll see what a couple of years with their energy grid does to all of these new transplants from other states York city grew by nearly eight percent defying predictions that its population was on the decline. Now it is possible that some people left during the pandemic after filling out the census. I guess but it hardly seems as if You know most of new york is is running away. But i wanna get into the politics two because we can't talk about the census without wondering what effect it's going to have on the distribution of political power. We're just getting some initial reactions from people who do of this work but According to nate cohn the data was less favorable to republicans than some experts expected with rural areas and white people share the population shrinking while traditionally democratic cities and increasingly democratic Suburbs grew but It's also pointed out that republican controlled legislatures will still get to redraw one hundred eighty seven maps compared to democrats eighty four and so sure the raw numbers might not be exactly what the republicans would hope. But they're still the ones that we're gonna be working with those raw numbers and of course the judiciary that's going to be approving or denying a lot of these maps that were gonna be seeing Not far off into the future is far more conservative than it was after a few years of the trump presidency so Michael how like. I know you probably had some expectations going in this process about how it might affect the distribution of congressional seats and all that Have you has your opinion changed at all. Now you're seeing some of the data my the for me looking at the data. My opinion hasn't changed from the people from me. Looking at the people who i trust to look at this data. Certainly it has an. And i think when you look at a lot of the people who look at redistricting and gerrymandering and and how you know. Texas is the most glaring example right twenty three or thirty. Six house seats are held by in texas. They're going to be two more house seats there. You see where the population shifts four out of. The ten largest growing cities in the country are our suburbs in texas. So it's frisco and mckinney and conroe a fourth one in texas so you're gonna see the the republicans there say okay you know what instead of having parts of the city like austin have republican representation and some democratic representation. Let's just make a democratic district in austin and that we can move it out and we can get our two seats outside of austin and outside of san antonio or they can just be pure republicans so they get to sort of for the next ten years. Say we're going to have these. republican seats. Go on texas may go on in florida to degree but some of the other states i think are. There's a bit of a surprise as to how much the republicans thought they were going to have. And what what they're not going to have. So that's why. I think you see nate. Cohn depor santa and some of the others saying that look this wasn't as as good for republicans as they thought it was going to be entering thoughts and i think that we're gonna see a lot more action from Political leaders who lean more toward the right and also in support of things that would continue to maintain white supremacy as we recently saw with the federal government.

"That would require you to be a journalist and have principles and of course tucker does and he's just trying to prove some right wing point in one that isn't remotely true whereas i love would can eclipse those and what we try new which is hold. Republicans and democrats accountable. We do politically and ken does it. Through finding out evidence about what the administration is doing especially in the intelligence community. And there's no reason the worldwide any progressive which supported democratic administration eavesdropping on us wiretapping. Us and or by the way eavesdropping wiretapping. conservatives for political reason we would hate that as progressives it has nothing to do with protecting republicans or democrats say that's protecting the idea of civil liberties in the first place. I you know what this feels like. It feels like the whole obama gate thing where trump alleged that oh. They're spying into my their spy. Obama spider may campaign. I mean this is. This is obama gate two point. Oh we're spy gate two point oh or or whatever and again based on. Es there's really nothing there. There's there's no there there it's ginny people up and what's interesting too and you said we'd be mad if conservative was was actually spied on the. Nsa we're all being spied on. By the nsa. Once again. as edward snowden pointed out but like could you imagine tucker carlson getting mad if the trump administration spied in on rachel motto or journalists. Oh wait didn't that actually happen. Didn't they try to get emails and phone records and all that stuff from what your time or washington. Washington post journalists weird. It didn't say anything about that. Did he is a great point. Jeff that's right and i slipped my mind. Of course yeah. Trump administration went after journalists and try to spy on them and we. If it was true tucker said we would hate if the by the administration did that. The tucker carlson he on the other hand like. Oh you're spying in on trump's doing it yes spying on other reporters as long as it's not me they're the world's biggest hypocrites. They don't care about principles at all but speaking of hypocrisy. Did you notice what tucker said in that. Original clip can see. He works at the inner said. he was fun. You by being there. Okay wait a minute. Who's the owner and has the funder of fox news o- rupert murdoch. I mean rupert murdoch's billionaires. Oh no he. Is it billionaire. "What happened to that. Had anything to say after he was made to look like a fool for not understanding what unindicted co-conspirators are and claiming the f. b. i. Had tried to commit a terror attack in dc and he just moves on and for all. I know he'll move on from this. And god only knows what the forest service will be doing to tucker carlson and a couple of weeks but it will be about him once again. I know that. I just want super-quick backup. Where both would john jefferson so like these are lunatic conspiracy theories so it's the nsa spying on people is not a conspiracy theory. They do that in the especially if you're a foreign government in their tracking your officials etc. That is supposed to be part of their job. And but they've gone way beyond their mandate in the past. Obviously edward snowden revealed how much our government was wire. Timing is that's all true. Okay but jeff is absolutely right. That sis is audience. Detached from reality. Tucker. does it have to have. It makes sense biden. would you know was trying to cancel. Tucker back in twenty nineteen and made trump's government do it and and it just none of it makes any sense but the good but tucker's perfectly aware for his audience. It doesn't have to make sense and look here's how you can know for sure that it doesn't make sense. Look at the point. John made and i. I heard that from kobe hall of media and we talked about it when we first the story is inconceivable that fox news if they thought it was real either one of these the fbi doing the capital riots or the nsa trying to cancel their top rated. Show that every fox news show be talking about twenty four seven the fact that the rest of fox is not talking about it shows you for definitively that his own networks either thinks or is absolutely positive that tucker carlson is full of crap and if it causes some sort of legal trouble for them or if they end up in a court case that tucker starts they can just use the same defense. They've used before tucker. He wasn't speaking factual he's just exaggerating to prove a point or whatever And by the way. I in too much. What you said about. None of it needs to make sense. Honestly think about what his show has been about for the past week or so. So last night's program. What are the messages. He's trying to get across. So he ends with. Kevin clip in stein is a stooge. For the nsa. And they're defending again. He never makes the point for how. And his foia somehow defends the nsa. I don't understand that but the point is that tucker is critical of government. Surveillance and can clip in stein is a supporter of government surveillance. Okay now we have to go to a commercial break when we come back. I'll tell you more about how the government needs to put cameras in every classroom. So they know what every teacher is saying so if they say something about race theory we can cancel them. That has been his other big thing for the past week. So which is it. Are you against government surveillance. Are you four government surveillance or is it that the public school teachers. They're working class. they're poor. We can surveyed them all we want and the probably libs who cares about them. But i'm a very incredibly wealthy well-connected conservative. So how dare you ever even incidentally collect my information and that's really what's going on here now really fast. Why don't we go into a little bit of the video from Yesterday on deep dive so first of all quick point from a journalist. Ryan grim about tucker. Carlson being aggrieved that can clip. Einstein would pro all of his time and effort into foiling as foia. Well how much time and effort is that. Actually ryan explains to the point of what tucker's is complaining about for somebody who's fluent in in foia. One of the first things you learn is that you can foia.

"Welcome back to axios today. I'm nylon boudou last monday. Fox's tucker. Carlson went in front of his several million viewers and made an extraordinary accusation. That the nsa was spying on his emails. The nsa intern issued a rare public. Denial that carlson had been targeted and actually jonathan swan decided to look into this. Jonathan would we know about this story. I know that the us government learned that tucker. Carlson was trying to set up an interview with vladimir putin and that that happened. Shortly before tucker. Carlson made this extraordinary public claim that the national security agency was spying on him. I don't know how they learned. The takada was trying to set up this communication. He's obviously publicly claimed that they learned from monitoring his mouth and text messages. I have an independently confirmed that one way or the other. What does this tell you about. Tucker carlson's role in this post trump presidency era. I don't think it's an exaggeration to coal him. One of the most important figures on the american right elected officials scared of him. They go cap in hand to him. They suck up to him. He's a kingmaker and there are many people who think that if he ran for president in two thousand twenty four he'd be a force of nature so he's an important figure on the ride. Is that why the story was so interesting to you. It's pretty rare to have a public figure in a position like that making a claim that is so specific and so incendiary and to have an agency. That's usually so secretive and so reluctant to comment publicly commenting on it. It was unusual for lots of reasons. And i was naturally intrigued. Accesses.

"However none of us know this for sure we just either have to believe tucker or not i will say i am absolutely inclined to believe tucker carlson just from the first day when he said that because it would just be such a bizarre lie to come out and tell it would be. I don't know it. Just doesn't i just like like if i had to guess in my head of course as i'm saying i don't know none of us know for sure but if i had to say what's more likely. Here that tucker. Carlson is just making this up and there is no nsa whistle blower. Who told him that. The reading is e mails that he just decided that was a good story to make up or that. The nsa who's been known to spy on american citizens who certainly was spying on the trump Campaign and then probably on the trump administration we know. The fbi was That they would be spying on the biggest guy in cable news who is an opponent of the military industrial complex to me. One seems much more likely than the other but then if that wasn't enough interestingly and this is only again only because tucker carlson has such a large audience. The nsa responded so tucker. Carlson made the claim right a very specific claim that the nsa that he had talked to this whistle blower who had read his email. He so in his mind. This is proof. They've got my emails my personal emails and the reading it but the the the. Nsa responded and they said on june twenty eighth two thousand. Twenty one tucker. Carlson alleged that the national intelligence age the national security agency has been monitoring has been quote monitoring our electric communication and is planning to leak them in an attempt to take this show off the air. This allegation is untrue. Tucker carlson has never been an intelligence target of the agency and the nsa has never had any plans to try to take his program off the air of emails. Nsa has a foreign intelligence mission. We target foreign powers hold on. We target foreign powers to generate insights on foreign activities. That could harm the united states with limited exceptions. Nsa may not target a us citizen without a court order. That explicitly authorizes the targeting now. to your layman. If you just read that you'd be like. Oh that's denial. That's a denial of what tucker carlson is right. I mean he's saying they did it. They're saying they didn't do it. I mean 'cause they did say the words. This allegation is untrue but changed his allegation right. So then. They say tucker. Carlson has never been an intelligence target of the agency. That is a very very different claim than saying we'd have never read tucker carlson's emails. There's just two different things. And if you know the lingo and how the nsa operates that's what they always say that's what they said. Why do they bother being triggered. Why why don't they just lie and say. We didn't look at his emails like at this point. You broke the law. Why don't i don't get it. Well the thing is that they will lie sometimes also right like they will lie. Like clapper lied to congress about them doing any type of monitoring of americans meta data. But that's fair question. That is an interesting question. But they're not even lying. They're not even just coming out and denying it. So i would say after that response i one hundred percent believe tucker carlson at least ninety nine percent believe tucker carlson like so just to be clear this is what they do and probably my guess would be. There is no paper trail to prove otherwise. So i you know. I do not think anywhere there has been an email written down or an email or something or a note or or a phone call or anything like that where someone says. Our goal here is to get tucker carlson off the air. I mean like why would you put that in writing. That's just ridiculous. But i have no doubt that. That's what the goal is And i certainly and as far as saying he's not the target this is what they said about trump. Okay so this is like how they always were. It's the same as what the f. b. i. Did right who was the target target was carter page just happened to be an adviser on the trump campaign but that was the target. Maybe the target was michael. Flynn that was the nsa's target. It's michael flynn just happened to be. Trump's first national intelligence national security advisor but the target wasn't trump you talking about. It's just people on his campaign however once you target somebody you can then listen to any communications that they have and you know ah trump advisor or national security advisor they might be talking to donald trump right. So that's how they play this game. They get somebody else's the target. And then if you accuse them of spying on that person you go under that person's not the target but that's not really. What's it question here. What's it question what the question is here is. Did you read tucker carlson's emails. Yes or no. That's to me like what's pretty interesting about this. So this ain't a denial so between the fact that it just seems kind of unlikely that tucker carlson would just completely make this story up and then the fact that there's a very specific accusation and then the fact that the. Nsa isn't even denying it. I think we all know what's going on here and it's a good. It's a good reminder to just see for people to see just how dangerous this whole thing is What what's really going on here and that it's like yeah they are. They are going after. They are spying on Cable talk show host and really. It's just for the crime of being good on war as tucker. Carlson has done wrong. And you could try to make up a million other things that you know are the real reason why they would be going after him or you know. He's just such a terrible right winger on this issue or that issue but there's been terrible right-wingers out there for a long time as my entire life like you know cable news. Talk radio all this stuff. There's been a ton of terrible right-wingers going out that all the time. There's a reason why you don't hear scandals about like the deep state going after those people because.

That's so kind of you know, like they gave him a hug and I was like, you're so nice, but like, you know, if don't talk to the intimidating-looking person, you have no idea what kind of a person they are. He could have been like I hate you blah, but he didn't just like that to to be fair to talk them. Yeah, that's true and and even then dead. What are you looking to suffer? Took what I expected. I was kind of without spoiling much. I was kind of waiting for something else to happen. But and then I realized like the whole like subversion thing was happening. So so that's why I didn't see this when it came out. I actually didn't even know this movie existed until we were getting ready for this episode. So it was wage really enjoyed. It had a lot of like hidden humor that I really enjoyed Tucker & Dale were absolutely hilarious and I really did like you pointed like you touched on it like doesn't treat the audience dumb. So, you know if there if there were to be like a horror genre movie that I could comprehend and watch and enjoy and have fun with this would be.
