Glenn Kirschner on Calls for Trumps Legal Team to Be Held in Contempt
"Talk to us about a big deal or not. The DoJ are asking the federal judge to hold Trump's office in contempt of court following this discovery of new classified documents that Trump's property, despite his legal teams assurances that they had already handed over all the material. What do you make of this latest? I mean, it's his people going, oh wait, there's even more. Right. We didn't tell you. You know, this is really curious and perhaps unprecedented. I'm not celebrating it. Look, Donald Trump has held us in contempt for 6 years. It's nice to hear that he and his team might be held in contempt. But you know, this is really to use a legal term, a funky procedure going on with chief chief judge beryl Howell overseeing whatever in the world she is overseeing. It almost feels like another version of a special master arrangement. That's not a criticism of chief judge barrel harrell. I think she's terrific. But I don't know what's going on behind closed doors. What I do know is it doesn't seem to be all that effective to have some judge intervene. And try to put fixes in place for what we all know is broken. What we all know is broken is that Trump and his defense team are corrupt. Don't care about actually divulging themselves of all of these documents. And there's a way to remedy all this. It's with indictments for the crimes that we know Trump is committed.

Looking at 51° in Laurel 50 in Reston, we have 53 in the nation's capital at 1140. Well, as we know the victory by Democrat Raphael Warnock and Georgia's Senate runoff election means Democrats will hold a 51 49 advantage in the U.S. Senate, and that single additional seat will bring several changes. Details on that now from Capitol Hill and WTO's Mitchell Miller. Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer says Warnock's victory has been a long time coming. After one year, ten months and 17 days of the longest 50 50 Senate in history, 51. Schumer says it won't be as easy to slow down votes on the president's judicial nominees. It's going to be a lot quicker swifter and easier. It's also going to mean that our committee chairs have more flexibility on legislation. For Republicans, Herschel Walker's defeat stings, coming after GOP losses and several other Senate races, where former president Trump had endorsed the Republican candidates. On Capitol Hill, Mitchell Miller, WTO, news. What appeared to be more classified documents have been discovered at a Florida storage unit used by former president Donald Trump. They were found by his lawyers during a search in The Washington Post quote sources as saying, those lawyers immediately turn the material over to the FBI. The official confirmed inside a sealed box there were two documents with classified markings, adding to the more than 300 sensitive documents found this year. Yet another instance in which Trump has failed to comply with lawful demands to return them. CBS News correspondent Scott McFarland, the search of the storage unit was one of at least three recent searches for classified documents at Trump properties. The search team was hired by the former president after his legal team was pressed by a judge to say it had complied with a subpoena to turn over all classified material. Voting rights were back on the docket at the U.S. Supreme Court today justices hearing arguments in a case out of North Carolina, which asks this question, should individual state legislatures have free reign to redistrict congressional maps even if that violates federal voter protections? Washington Post Supreme Court reporter Robert Barnes says what the high court decides could have a big effect nationwide. Because it would say that that one sort of state oversight by state Supreme Court would be gone that they couldn't do that. And the court seemed to be looking for some sort of middle ground. It seemed reluctant to cut the state court's completely out of this process. But perhaps limit the remedy that the court could provide, such as putting in its own map or whether something else would have to happen. Republican leaders in North Carolina argued the U.S. Constitution leaves little room for court review of election laws. Up next in sports, OV scores two as the caps pummel the flyers in Philly. The fact that we got the 51 votes gives us just a great feeling, enthusiasm, unity, encouragement in that way. "The UK Supreme Court has ruled that the Scottish government can not hold an independence referendum without the government's consent. First minister Nicholas sturgeon has said that she wants to hold a referendum in October of next year. And Canada will face Belgium in the World Cup later today. The North American side has previously only featured at the 1986 tournament in Mexico. That appearance saw them lose at the group stages to France, Hungary, and the then Soviet Union. Those are today's headlines, back to you, Andrew. Thank you, Tom. This is the briefing on monocle 24. The convention whereby presidents of the United States released their tax returns, dates back half a century or so to noted benchmark of probity, Richard M Nixon. The streak was broken by president Donald Trump, who declined for scarcely imaginable reasons to release his tax returns. The U.S. Supreme Court now appears to have removed that choice from him. It has cleared the way for his records to be delivered to the House of Representatives ways and means committee, which is presently controlled by Trump's democratic opposition. Donald Trump, as usual, denies everything. Lou lucan's is a former U.S. diplomat now a senior partner at signum global, thank you for joining us. We don't know what's in the tax returns yet. Obviously, but potentially could this be a big deal? Well, it could potentially and remember that Donald Trump is also under investigation in the state of New York for tax fraud and having his tax returns released publicly, which they undoubtedly will be. I mean, they will be released to the congressional committee within the next couple of days I imagine. But it is unimaginable that they won't be somehow leaked to the public shortly after. So everyone will get a good look at Donald Trump's financial games that he's played over the last many years and that will feed into the criminal investigations and civil investigations happening in New York right now. Does the House ways and means committee need to be quick because of course there will be a new Congress sworn in in January which will be controlled by the Republican Party. Yes, they need to be very quick. They have basically 5 weeks left to do their work at which point, as you noted, the Republicans will take over and they will completely shut down. I imagine any further investigation into Trump's tax situation. I mean, do we know? As you correctly point out, they will doubtless be leaked. They haven't yet, but do we know broadly what people will be looking for. If we draw some cues from what we've learned from the state of New York's investigation, will it be Trump's recurrent habit of telling the public things about his wealth rather different to what he tells? The tax people. So there are a couple of things to look out for. One is that I think that he has a reputation and maybe a history of over inflating the worth of his properties and the value of his properties. To obtain loans, but then underreporting the value when it comes to paying taxes. And so people will be looking for those discrepancies. I think there will also be looking very closely for any clues into how much money flowed from foreign governments into his pockets during his presidency, right? This is a key issue and foreign governments spent a lot of money at Trump properties in the United States in Washington, especially during the presidency. And I think there'll be a lot of interest into what countries did that and did they return any did they gain any sort of benefit in return for that? Doesn't necessarily tell us anything, though, that Donald Trump has fought so hard against this because it's a standard operating procedure, right? He fights hard against everything. He defies he deflects, refuses to cooperate, threatens retaliation. It's just what he always does. It is, but he's at the end of the road now. I mean, there's nowhere for him to appeal this decision at this point. The Supreme Court has decided there's no higher authority in the United States that he can appeal to. So his tax returns will be released. The fact that he is fought so hard for so many years to avoid releasing them, you know, has to raise the potential that there is incriminating evidence in there that will not reflect well on him. And I don't think anyone will be surprised if that's the case. I mean, at this point in Donald Trump's political adventure to ask this question is to answer it, but even if there is some thoroughly disgraceful revelation in these tax returns, which I think we have to acknowledge is not beyond the realms of possibility. Will it really change anything? Will it prize off a single one of his voters? Will it dissuade a single one of his supporters in politics or in the conservative media? Well, in some ways, no, right? His core supporters will buy into his line that this is a political witch hunt, and it always has been, and that's why he's fought against it. That said, a combination of factors, including this, and the other investigations into Mar-a-Lago and the documents that he kept there. And also the fact that his candidates did not do very well in the midterm elections a couple of weeks ago, have all created space for other Republicans to position themselves as the next errors and leaders of the party, whereas I think four or 5 months ago, it was sort of assumed that Donald Trump would run again. He would have a very strong chance of winning the Republican nomination. And I think that position of his is weakened now. Republican donors are walking away from him. Rupert Murdoch and his media empire have basically washed their hands of Donald Trump. And I think depending on what's in his tax returns, that will give that sort of the Republican elite and donor class yet another excuse to turn their backs on him. So is this the idea then that there is a cohort of Republican politicians, Republican donors, Republican media cheerleaders, which have for some while now been wanting an opportunity to desert Donald Trump. Yes, absolutely.

"Legal troubles for former president Donald Trump, northwest news radio's Kim shepherd, talk with ABC's Derek Dennis about the new lawsuit out of New York. There's a new lawsuit being filed today in Manhattan that accuses Donald Trump and his family of decades worth of fraud. The civil suits being filed by the New York attorney general. It was a scheme that by its very nature became more profitable over time. And it is all in stark violation of the law. ABC's Derek Dennis is covering the story and Derek, this isn't the first lawsuit filed against Trump and his organization's, but it might be the biggest case to date. What are the accusations here? Right. This is a $250 million civil lawsuit filed by the New York attorney general. She's accusing former president Trump, his Trump organization and his three eldest children, as well as two longtime company executives of fraud and misleading banks and other financial institutions. Duping them to give him money, give Trump and his organization money based on inflated real estate holdings, including former president Trump's Mar-a-Lago estate. One example listed in the lawsuit was evaluation of Mar-a-Lago at 799 $1 million when in actuality the attorney general says the real value should have been closer to just $75 million. That is just part of her civil lawsuit, Trump for his part has responded calling it a political winch hunt and denying any wrongdoing. How does inflating real estate prices really affect anyone who is damaged by this? Well, for one, because they're lending money more money based on what they believe is collateral of real estate holdings said to be worth so much more than they really are. That's more money that the bank is putting out and necessarily. And the attorney general says illegally because of the fraudulent raising of the valuation of Trump properties. So he's taking out loans on these fraudulent valuations, but has anybody actually lost money? Has he paid those loans back? No, he hasn't. And that's part of the problem. Many times when Trump comes up for these loans coming due, there's the snag or a lawsuit is filed or some sort of delay. So it is a trickle down effect in terms of banks. Suffering, not having as much money to lend to other people because they've loaned so much to former president Trump and his Trump organization. The Trump organization and the former president are also facing a criminal investigation for a lot of this. Why a civil lawsuit? Well, civil lawsuit is simply a dollar amount. It's a dollar figure aimed at providing restitution to banks and others that the attorney general said were misled by Trump and his organization. The criminal charges potentially could carry prison time for the former president is eldest children and other business associates. So far different outcomes, one financial, one criminal, but the stench is the same. And by design, the attorney general was very forceful in her press conference, used a play on words, Trump's own words, the title of one of his books, art of the deal. She termed art of the steel. Saying that Trump and his cohorts have been stealing money from banks and other financial institutions, dating back some 20 years. ABC's Derek Dennis covering the lawsuit filed in Manhattan today against Donald Trump, his family, and his organization by the New York attorney general. "So perhaps it's about to get more interesting than it already has been. I happen to be an appraiser. And as an appraiser, I've always been confounded, totally confused with how Trump is being accused of overvaluing his own properties. It makes no sense to me, and I'll tell you why. I'm appraisers job is to value properties, not the property owners job. Any bank would never listen to a property owner about what the house's value is. Or the building's value. I don't understand it. I'd love to hear, perhaps if there's an attorney listening or somebody that has prosecutorial experience, how does it even make sense that Trump could be putting that Trump could be charged with overvaluing his own property? And so I appreciate that perspective coming from what you do for a living, so let me tackle this with you. The obvious answer for me is they're trying to pull every lever they can to prevent him from returning to The White House. Civil criminal value is property, national archives, documents, January 6th, anything they can do to stop him. "WTO pneumo. 5 52. Former president Trump has been hinting at another presidential run in 2024, but one group complains he's also been flouting federal election law in the process. A pro democratic super PAC is suing the federal election commission, accusing it of dragging its feet on a complaint about Trump's hints of a future White House run. Back in March the pack called American bridge filed an FEC complaint, it argued that Trump should have been obligated to file a candidacy intent statement within 15 days of getting contributions or spending more than $5000 at issue or payments for events at Trump properties, rallies featuring Trump and digital advertising about Trump events and his presumptive 2024 opponent. An FEC spokesperson declined to comment citing confidentiality requirements. The former president paid respect to his first wife today, Ivana Trump. He joined his three children at a funeral mass for the woman who helped him build his empire in New York. Trump and current wife Melania arrived at St. Vincent Ferrer Roman Catholic Church on Manhattan's upper east side. The public divorce between Ivana and Donald Trump was ugly, but in recent years, the 1980s power couple were on friendly terms, and she was an enthusiastic supporter of his presidential run. "And we've got enough time for to sneak another story in here. And I'm excited because it seems as though Trump has been held in contempt, possibly. And I have nothing. But contempt for this Trump and his crime family. So what's going on? Yeah, well, there has been a motion made. At that state, we're not at the border. Well, you know, it's always a half. Wait, can I second the motion? If I second it, then it's good, right? Call for general consent. Okay. It's agreed. This has now been fully briefed. So this is the New York attorney general's civil complaint against Donald Trump and his crime family, letitia James, and this is about principally the overvaluation of Trump properties. And this is an interesting motion because it kind of gets at a question that people ask me about fairly often, which is how do you go about drawing inferences when you're in the discovery process and you're dealing with a bad faith actor, but you're not dealing with Alex Jones, right? Like Alex Jones, it's super easy when you say produce a 30 B 6 witness, a corporate deposition for somebody who knows about your finances and you put up a guy who is an InfoWars editor who like read stories on the air and you ask them how much money is in the InfoWars account and he's like, I don't know. That's real easy. And that's why those sanctions in those cases were sort of knocked down, no doubt about it. I guess I'm saying Donald Trump is a more crafty litigant than Alex Jones. That's not a statement I thought I would ever be uttering professionally in any context. It's a true race to the bottom and I hope everyone loses. I agree. But here's where we are. It seems like Donald Trump is acting in bad faith in connection with discovery requests. And this is why it is interesting because a lot of the evidence is open to interpretation. So when you say, give me all of the documents that you have and they say, okay, we absolutely will do that. We have done. All of the documents that you have that relate to the valuation of your properties and you're like, yep, sure, absolutely. We and I'll quote from the exact language. Personally made or caused others to make a diligent search of all of mister Trump's relevant records for materials sought by the subpoena and for each document I was unable to locate any responsive documents that are in mister Trump's possession or custody. That feels like maybe you're hiding something. But I mean, are they getting by on this Trump mob boss thing he does, which is no email, know anything, just phone calls, you know? I mean, I guess it's not impossible that he wouldn't have documents because he doesn't read. So there are a couple of things. There are a couple of ways to break that down. And the first is and again, all of this sort of lens some color to understanding the discovery process. So I request for documents is a document. You serve on the other side. And it says it first it defines terms. It sets out the temporal limitations, right? From X date to Y date, you make it clear exactly what documents you want. And then you list numerically, document request number one, all documents in your possession custody or control that refer or relate to the valuation of any property by DJT holdings. I'm making that one up, but that probably something like that is their number one. And Trump and his family stonewalled on that for a very, very long time. They moved to quash, ultimately there was a court order and the court said were denying your motion to quash, you are to respond in full by producing all responsive documents by March 31st. Instead of producing all of those documents, this is again straight from the from Tisch James filing. Mister Trump did not comply at all. Instead, he served a quote response on the office of the attorney general, raising objections to each of the 8 document requests. In the subpoena based on grounds such as over breadth burden, lack of particularity, he further asserted based on his objections that he would not produce any documents responsive to the subpoena because his counsel could not find any such documents and because his council's information and belief that if such documents exist, the Trump organization has them and the office of the attorney general will just have to wait until the Trump organization completes its ongoing document production to get them. That's not the way discovery works. It can be if you are a non party. So for example, if a person is in an auto accident, Sue's person B and person B wants to get the medical records of person a and issues a third party subpoenaed a person a's doctor. Person is doctor might say, number one, we're protected by pippa. So unless my patient releases me, I'm not going to produce any documents because that would violate doctor patient confidentiality. And also, I don't have anything to do with this case. You guys are suing each other, right? Any relevant documents. The medical records might not be the greatest example, but get it from the plaintiff. Get it from a party to the case. So in other words, that argument is valid if you have a good reason to say, don't put this burden on me, your burden is to produce. You can not be alone. They say documents you say, how high. Exactly right, exactly right. Here's how tis James put it, which I just love. This court's order was not an opening bid for a negotiation. For a new round of challenges to the subpoena. It was rather a court order, entered after full briefing an argument during which mister Trump could have, but did not raise any of the purported objections or assertions he is now raised, under settled law, a party is not permitted to delay proceedings through Syria submissions to challenge an investigative subpoenas. So that ship as long since settled on mister Trump's ability to raise any new objections. So they filed a motion of did I stutter? They filed a motion for a finding of civil contempt, okay? And here's the remedy that they're seeking. They are seeking of a daily fine on Donald Trump until he produces all responsive documents in the amount of $10,000 a day. So way less than Alex Jones, which they've described as a some sufficient to coerce his compliance with this court's February 22, 2022 order..

"So this is a pittance of a financial contribution. But what you get is his imprimatur. What you get is the ability to as Doctor Oz did days after Trump endorsed him, put up a television ad, saying, I'm the Trump candidate, and I have Trump's endorsement. You know, some candidates get a rally in their state, which is extremely valuable. You get thousands of people in one place. You get national media attention and local media attention. You know, Trump continues to be an earned media magnet. He makes more news than most politicians. And when he comes to town, he brings all of the cameras. But again, he's endorsed now I think the numbers a 130 candidates across the country. And for most of them, they just get a statement from him. And you got to raise your own money to advance it and there are many people around Trump who think, you know, he's probably overextended himself in this primary season. Why endorsing some of these races, where you're looking at three pro Trump candidates, whoever wins is going to be a trumpy person, you didn't need to put your own name on the line and risk a loss, especially since you're not going to really do that much for the person and you endorse. I think you say that the candidates who Trump endorses can hold events at Mar-a-Lago, or at least some of them do that. But those are probably really costly events, no? These are costly events, so he has turned Mar-a-Lago into a fundraising hotspot for other candidates. And look, there is an entire Republican donor set in Palm Beach that likes to engage in politics. But what Trump has done is said, okay, you're a pro Trump candidate running against one of the people who voted to impeach him, you get my endorsement, and you get to come tomorrow and do a fundraiser. But by the way, you have to pay for Mar-a-Lago. It's not free. You have to pay for the food and the catering and the like. And this is not small amounts of money. We will get new reports on how much has been spent just in the coming days. But last year alone, just payments to Mar-a-Lago, let alone other Trump properties. I think we're on the order of $650,000 for various candidates. Now, some went and held an event there even before Trump had endorsed them, because look one of the best ways to get in front of Donald Trump, you do an event at his property, and he's likelier to swing by, or maybe you get a private meeting with him afterwards or beforehand. The role that Mar-a-Lago is playing in the Republican Party right now as a place that people are being drawn to is totally fascinating and really unlike anything. I can recall seeing in American politics. You write that some of Trump's own advisers have warned him that he's making some risky endorsements. And that his endorsements, instead of proving he's a kingmaker, might backfire on him. Absolutely, this is a real concern why endorse in some of these races where there are multiple candidates who are pro Trump. And I do think that it's worth noting, regardless of how Trump does personally, with his endorsement picks. The way that the 2022 primaries are unfolding, trumpism, the sort of movement that he's led is definitely winning..

Staying at the Trump International Hotel in Las Vegas
"I want to report to you what I witnessed over the weekend in Las Vegas. At the Trump international hotel, which is where we stayed. Beautiful hotel incidentally, and if you get if you go to Vegas and you're a little bit overwhelmed by all of the people in the noise and the buzz and the activity, the Trump hotel is just a block or so off the strip. It's not right on the strip. And it's a whole, it's kind of a different environment. It's very classy. It's very elegant. Beautiful spot, beautiful facility. And it's packed. I mean, people love the hotel. And I was thinking about that. I was thinking about the dynamic of people who stay at the hotel. Because I guarantee there are plenty of people who would never stay at a Trump hotel. Now I've stayed in two in the last few weeks. I stayed at the Trump hotel in Chicago a few weeks ago and at the Trump hotel in Vegas. Happily, and I was with happy like minded people because there's a different vibe to people who are willing to stay at a Trump property. And in the Trump international hotel in Las Vegas, they have the Trump store. Off the lobby. And it's packed with people who, like me, are lined up to buy Trump merchandise. Trump hats, golf shirts, t-shirts, everything. Umbrellas golf balls. Paperweights. It was unbelievable to watch folks like me, literally clear off the clear out the shelves. The lady told me we got a shipment of merchandise in the morning. It's gone by the end of the day. They can't keep it in stock.

I'm Ari Shapiro and I'm Mary Louise Kelly. When Donald Trump took office four years ago, he did not divest himself of the businesses that made him rich, a move which is, critics said would lead to countless conflicts of interest. Since then U. S. Taxpayers have paid Trump Properties for security costs involved in hosting hundreds of presidential visits. Foreign and domestic politicians have paid for countless stops at his hotels and resorts. And so as he leaves office a question has the trump presidency. Been good for the business of the trump Organization? Well, here to walk us through. That is Andrea Bernstein, host of the Trump Ink Podcast from W N Y. C. Hey, Andrea. Hey, Mary Louise. Good to talk to you and to you. Let's start it Day one of Trump's presidency because the first conflict of interest had already popped up. It involved his inauguration Remind us what happened. So during the inauguration, the last one there was a move by the inaugural committee, which is a charity to book some events at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D C. Which is a fine thing to do. But when the charity came and said, Hey, give us a break. We're a charity. The response of the Trump Organization was no. We're going to charge you a very hefty sum. And there was some investigation that went into it. We had trumping worked very hard on this and what we found was that members of the presidential inaugural Committee had warned the Trump Organization that this would look bad if it ever came out. And it did come out thanks to Trump Ink D. C. Attorney General Karl Racine is investigating. He recently deposed Ivanka Trump, and it very well could be that the Trump organization is Found liable for having profited from the presidency from the get go, so that litigation is ongoing just before we move on from the Trump Hotel here in Washington. Yeah, I'm thinking it has been the focus of so many allegations of self dealing of pay to play within the Trump Administration. Just the just the bar in the lobby. Just take that one space. Before the pandemic. You could walk in any night of the week. And it was a living case study in conflicts checks, right. I mean, that was the point in Trump made it very clear that he would favor people who patronized his hotel. There was just one day in April of 2018 when a group of executives from T Mobile who wanted Justice Department approvals for their merger. Checked into the hotel. That same day, Trump held a fundraiser with two business associates of Rudy Giuliani, who had contributed $300,000 to a super PAC related to Trump and were therefore able to go straight to Trump. To pitch their idea for a gas company in Ukraine. That was what was going on the hotel and president Trump made it very, very clear that if you paid him you could play. Remembering all kinds of figures from the Russia investigation is making their way. Through that lobby as well. What another business entanglement or two that will stick out to you. As you look back over these four years. Well, I think it is the way Trump used his bully pulpit, which you promised you wouldn't to promote his properties the way he would constantly patronize his own golf resorts the way he would host world leaders at his resorts. The way he even touted his own properties at events like the infamous press conference he held after the events in Charlottesville in 2017, he talked about that he had a winery near Charlottesville. And there was actually a proposal floated from the White House to hold the G seven summit at his resort. In general. It was at that point that some Republicans said no. But it shows you how far gone we moved under the Trump administration, where this very quickly seemed normal for the president to be using the White House. To help out his business and his brand. All right, so that brings us up to now he exits the White House tomorrow. Where do you think Stand? Where does Trump stand with his business is well, it's bad for him, and I would argue it's even worse than the last time he faced serious troubles, which was one his casinos declared bankruptcy. And that's because there isn't a banker in the world that didn't see what happened. January 6 in the capital, and that doesn't believe that they would lose money by financing. Donald Trump his Bankers have walked away from him. Real estate brokers have walked away from him. The Professional Golf Association I think is the biggest cut for him has sort of a Tu brute a moment where they said, We're not hosting the championship in 2022 at your club. So Donald Trump faces a situation where his customers are not his political backers. And there's a disconnect and there's going to be a real financial reckoning coming at the same time, he needs to find lawyers who he also famously doesn't pay to represent him in the multiple investigations going forward. Financial reckonings and legal reckonings in the days to come for Donald Trump. That is Andrea Bernstein, host of the Trump Ink Podcast from W. N. Y. C and author of American Oligarchs. The Kushner's The Trumps and the Marriage of Power and Money. Thank you. Thank you so much. Mm hmm. But if you want to project important you can just go hang out at the hotel and take some pictures one of the things that has struck me about about this where we are right now. The impeachment is usually it is very hard to get to the present United States and and and that's for that can be really maddening for people when you're trying to if you're working in the in the staff of the White House and you want to get the president something on his agenda. It's hard to get to him This president seems remarkably easy to get to buy all kinds of people with all kinds of agendas and it seems like his properties are the nexus of this this kind of soft corruption absolutely. I spoke to the president at the trump trump hotel. I was staying there researching one of my articles in for the cost of a nice steak dinner I was able to chat with the president which mix for really good social media posts there so if you you just you know hanging out there take your pictures with your Kevin McCarthy user Mike Pence's as they go back and forth now they're usually not upfront in the bar they're usually going back and forth from the entrance way way to private rooms but see them coming and going you can collect enough pictures and you look like you're really important and then what do you do with that really important the look like you're really important. Well well I think with Robert Heidi. He's using it to run for Congress and there are certainly some other people who are running for Congress typically Republican challengers who seem to be collecting pictures of themselves to the trump hotel. But I've seen some people move from the lobby where the lesser swamp. Thing's hang out to the back rooms and I. I don't know exactly what they're doing to get back there. But looking on social media it almost looks like that they are puffing up their importance with a lot of pictures and then all of a sudden they kind of get to be important That's interesting what. What do you mean by backrooms described it because at one point apartments talking about a private dinner with the president which I think happens there in the hotel room? What is what's the sort of distinction between the the the lobby bar in the backrooms actual important power players are so there's really two tiers if you go out in the lobby? That's where you're gonNA find you not even Fox News host but like Fox News guests are going to be hanging out there. People who really wanted to be seen in need to be seen to kind of project some sort of importance but they may not actually be that important example. Corey Lewandowski is somebody. You'll see it there rudy. Giuliani was the exception to that. But it's the back rooms. It's the trump townhouse which is where if died with dined with the president. And it's the Franklin study in the Lincoln Library where they had those private events. And that's where you'll see the mingling with special interest groups that have flown in lobbyists. Anybody can see them coming back and forth though to the main entrance which is where some of these other interactions come from and is that final question here like do like my understanding from the reporting we haven't from the disclosures that special interest groups if you're trying to get a rag changed if you're trying to get a piece of legislation like they we know that's the place to go and that's where those back room meetings happen. It can't hurt. There's absolutely no downside to booking the trump hotel now. I spoke to lobbyist obvious really early on when it was clear that hotel was going to stick around. said they're going to go there to try to influence them in response was of course they are. Why wouldn't they yeah? Search efforts in who's been covering this beaten his newsletter. Thanks a

Dissecting Trump's Twitter 'Diplomacy'
"Their Israeli for better unusually for worse no more enthusiastic proponent of twitter diplomacy in US President Donald Trump joining us now to dissect a representative few of trump's interestingly punctuated blurts. Is Brian Close political scientist. I author and Washington Post columnist by way of imbuing trump's tweets with a finesse. The ill deserve. They are read by foreign desk producer. You'll engulf on any and all grammatical infelicitous of the fault of the author not the narrator September fifteenth two thousand nineteen mystery missiles target. Saudi oilfields Saudi Arabia. Oil Supply was attacked. There's reason to believe that we know the culprit are locked and loaded depending on verification but are waiting to hear from the kingdom as to who they believe was the cause of this attack and under what terms we would proceed. This is amazing tweet because this is the second time that Donald Trump has issues locked and loaded. The first was when he was saying that he was about to attack North Korea. And it just shows you know the twitter diplomacy made on the fly where nobody believes what trump obsess anymore. You know that He. He is a saying who's behind the attack. People are questioning that and then you have. This claim that he's about to attack them which people again are questioning with good reason that his twitter threats are increasingly erratic and also unfounded and never backed up October. First two thousand seventeen reaching out to Kim Kim Jong UN being nasty Rotman hasn't worked in twenty five years. Why would it work now? Clinton failed. Bush failed and Obama failed. I won't fail. I love this tweet. For several reasons I is that he's has been nice to rocket man hasn't worked in twenty five years. Kim Jung took office in two thousand eleven. So penalized him when he was a child probably wasn't going to be a very fruitful way of conducting diplomacy anyway Clinton and Bush of course did not even deal with Kim Jong into any point and then the second layer of this of course is saying that being nice to him hasn't worked it won't work now. Well trump said that he was in love with Kim Jong Hoon after this tweet so I would classify that as being nice and then finally. I won't fail well. I mean what's happened. Since trump's multiple summits with Kim Jong is that Kim has gotten a massive boost international national profile and legitimacy by meeting with President without any preconditions and has simaltaneously ramped up the missile program and the nuclear capability which is the only point of involving involving Kim Jong UN and diplomacy so there are many many problems that tweets but my favorite one is the idea that trying to have diplomatic relations with a three year. Old Somehow didn't work. July thirtieth two thousand nineteen trade wars are good apparently and easy to win. China is doing very badly worst year in twenty seven was supposed supposed to start buying our agricultural product now no signs that they are doing so that is the problem with China they just don't come through. Our economy has become much much larger than the Chinese economy is last three years. Where do you start with the stuff of it? The idea that the US economy has eclipsed the Chinese economy in the last three years because because of trump is an amazing claim. And then the other thing. That's sort of unspoken this tweet but if you know trump's tweets really jumps out to you is the number of times that he contradicts himself so he constantly says things on twitter like China has just announced that they are going to be buying massive amounts of soybean from a great Patriot farmers and then a week or two who later. He has this tweet where he says. Effectively they're not actually doing it and then he'll come back and make the same claim again and so it's this sort of whiplash that twitter allows him to get away with because his base. Here's this they think okay China's now going to buy some soybeans well. The people in his twitter base are not the people who are actually selling soybeans. So they don't know if it's happened and they believe him and he can get away with it and this is where I think. Twitter diplomacy also bleeds into domestic politics. Where you end up having a lack lack of accountability because you can just shoot off a claim everybody moves on and then it's like it never happened when it's false? I think that the trade war stuff though is also indicative of how miscalculation can be very dangerous because China is actually reading these tweets trying to make not just sense of them but make policy based on them and they have no idea what it means. I mean it's riddled with Typos and grammatical errors. And then you know. They're they're scratching their their chins sort of saying will two weeks ago. He seemed to be happy with President. Then she now he's not and this causes again. Miscalculation which is I think the name of the game for twitter diplomacy July eighth two thousand nineteen some thoughts on Brexit and on the. UK's outgoing going. I'm blessed to the. US have been very critical about the way the UK and Prime Minister Theresa May Handle Brexit. What a mess? She and her representatives have created. I told her how it should be done but she decided to go another way. I didn't know the ambassador but he's not liked or well within the US we will no longer deal with him. The good news for the wonderful United Kingdom is that they will soon have a new prime minister. While I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificent state visit last month it was the queen who I was most impressed with so this tweet I think unveil some of the other problems with twitter when it comes to diplomacy and that is that statements of national importance is can be made without vetting. You know if there was actually communicate from the White House in the past this would have gone through a series of different advisors it would have been checked and the first instance in which trump trump tweeted about theresa. May He misspelled her name and accidentally tagged somebody with I believe one hundred sixty twitter followers. So you know. It's not exactly a crack team at the White House when it comes comes to twitter but then beyond this when he says she didn't go the way that I said what he's actually talking about according to the UK government is his suggestions that she sued the the European European Union as a way to solve brexit which his maybe it's ludicrous it's idiocy it's not going to work and then you have sort of the basic ignorance that comes out of these types of tweets. Were win actually. Trump arrives in the UK and gets pressed on various tweets though ask him questions and the followup about say is the NHS on the table the National Health Service on table in trade negotiations and he doesn't know what it is and this is again. You know this is the problem when you can make a statement you interfere in the affairs or politics of an allied country country and have no idea what. You're talking about October sixteenth two thousand eighteen taking Saudi Arabia's word for it just spoke with the Grand Prince of Saudi Arabia who totally denied any knowledge of what took place in their Turkish consulate. He was with Secretary of State. Mike Pompeo during the call and told me that he has already started and will rapidly. Expand fanned a full and complete investigation into this matter. Answers will be forthcoming shortly. This is of course about Jamal Kashogi who's a fellow columnists the Washington Post just before he was murdered and dismembered by the Saudi government which then led to a series of attempted cover ups by the Saudi government's with trump's help where he tried to sweep it under the rug. And and say you know they don't know anything about it and provide political cover to the Saudis and I think you know. This is the dark side of twitter where you can very quickly spread. What is clearly misinformation in pursuit of diplomatic relationship where trump clearly values for a variety of reasons whether it's strategic reasons or his financial conflicts of interest with the Saudi Kingdom? And you know a different president a pre twitter era first off would not have made the statement and secondly would have waited till the facts came out before staking the credibility of the White House on something something that was going to be very quickly debunked. I mean one of the famous examples during the Kashogi investigation was the idea that he had left the consulate. When the Saudis put a body double in clothes it was similar to Shoji's but forgot to change his shoes I mean it was amateur hour and for the US president in the White House to be affiliated with it because of such sporadic in a quick quick tweets was just embarrassing for the credibility of the United States August? Twenty of two thousand nine hundred an attempt at humor accompanied by a mockup of a trump trump casino on the Tundra. I promise not to do this degree land so this is a a photo shopped photo of trump property a trump hotel in greenland amongst a sort of sparse looking fishing village. And I think this is well is one of those moments where you have trump make a comment in the sort of real oh world right off off of cyberspace where he says. Maybe we'll buy greenland and then it sparks. This whole controversy of how Silva's claim is this proposal etc and and then he tries to make light of it as though it was a joke to begin with on twitter. But I think that this is also important in highlighting the risks of twitter in terms of photoshop or doctored images and trump did this with greenland as joke and there was obviously a joke. But there's other times where he's done and hasn't been a joke so he has sent tweets where they have basically doctored video video of Jim Acosta the CNN reporter who was temporarily banned from the White House looking more aggressive than he was because they speed it up his arm movement yeah right and this went throughout the conservative twitter sphere. Very very quickly. You can imagine something like that happening in diplomacy to. That's the big risk is that as deep technology for example fake videos that look very convincing or photo shopped images or any sort of disinformation campaign actually gets promoted by governments and by presidents presidents. That's where we answered very very dangerous territory and this type of stuff. I mean again when you think about the combination of Dr Video doctored images all being promoted by trump trump with no regard for the facts and the lack of credibility that he already has how much more dangerous it gets when you try to make sense of as a foreign diplomat Brian. Close thank you

A look at Fred C. Trump's view of the world
"The pioneers important ship with Rolex when Donald Trump was announcing his candidacy for presidency. He said the American dream is dead and talked about how he was going to put America first now. Both of those phrases would certainly have been familiar to Fred. See Trump indeed so Frederick Chris trump to give him his full name. That was a family name. But it's hard not to enjoy the laugh. He who was of course. Trump's MM father now people have slightly misread. The sometimes in assumed that because Fred trump was an adult in the twenty s that he must have been trump's grandfather and in fact reviews of my book talked about Fred Trump as his grandfather. No no no the point is he's his father. We forget and I think to our peril first of all how old Donald Trump is as. He was born in Nineteen forty-six and secondly that he was the son of a much older father. So Fred See. Trump actually was a young man in this era that I'm talking about in the twenty s and so the world that he inhabited was this America. First `isolation xenophobic eugenicist world. Like Tom Buchanan Bannon. That took that stuff for granted it was a highly racist society and even the more progressive people were of course very very racist and many of their attitudes kids and Fred trump raised donald trump. You know in the forties in my view to with this worldview and basically what I'm saying the book is the apple doesn't fall Oliver far from the tree and trump has said over and over again how much he admires his father how much he adheres to his father's worldview most importantly in my live you the thing he said over and over and over again is that he is a believer in eugenics. Now trump himself never remembers the word eugenics. But that's neither here nor there. The attitudes that he's espousing he says over and over again. He's given dozens of interviews. You easy to find just Google Donald Trump and eugenics and you see him on video for twenty years thirty thirty years saying that. He's a believer in what he calls the gene theory. or He's a believer in jeans. He believes in what he thinks of as the racehorse theory of genes. which is that when you get a superior type person and you marry that superior type person to another superior type person you get superior type people that is eugenicist and that is very clearly what he believes? Leaves end in Fred. Trump's world that idea was America first and you can place for trump historically right at the heart of does indeed so in one thousand nine twenty seven it was actually just at the peak of America first political traction it was just starting to lose credibility Partly because of the way that it had been monetize so it was getting associated with corruption. Both by the clan in with a very corrupt Chicago mayor from my hometown the most corrupt city in America. A A guy called big Bill Thompson. Who was using America first to try to? It was a money making scheme. Also some things never change anyway so it was about to kind of really lose credence but at the peak of it in nineteen twenty seven in Queens which of course is where Donald trump would eventually grow up. It's where Fred trump was already living at that point and there was a memorial Oriole Day parade in May nineteen twenty seven at which the clan controversial had been permitted to March. They were given a permit now. This incident has since trump's election and been aronie ASLI described as Klan Rally and. I think it's important that we note the distinction. It was a Memorial Day parade at which the veterans were marching and the Red Cross was marching and children were marching and there were twenty thousand spectators. Not because they wanted to support the clan but because they were there for national parade but the Klan had as I say controversially been given permission mission to March in this parade as long as they weren't roped was what the police told them and it was a first amendment issue again about the right to assemble in the right to free speech. And so you can see why they said that they could. But they couldn't be hooded and gowned and some of them decided to be hooded and gown and scuffles broke out among the twenty thousand spectators. Because some actually objected to it as hate speech just as we would today some defended on the basis of freedom of speech just as people would today so these kind of scuffles broke out and it turned into a full blown riot. Twenty thousand people fighting over the clan in Queens and out of that twenty thousand six men were arrested five of whom self identified the police reports as clansmen and the sixth was Fred see trump. Now that is not proof that Fred trump was clansman and again some people have said arrests shows that he was. I don't think that does I don't think we can make quite that step. But it is remarkable to me that out of twenty thousand people the only six were arrested five of clansmen and one of them was trump. And what I do say in the book is that and I firmly believe this. Is that whatever we think Fred. Trump's reasons for being there might have been. He was not there to protest the clan and we know that because of his later record on race relations he was so racist when he started his property property development in the nineteen fifties which by the way he got from government loans. So all of these guys who you know they hate government handouts. But that's how Fred trump got his start was from a government handout and there was some kind of it is indeed it was he was hauled up before Congressional Committee to admit that he wildly overstated the cost of his loans which is in the book some might call fraud so he defrauded the government went to get handouts and then these and then his son is telling us that handouts are terrible and nobody should have handouts and out of this. He built these tenements. He built these housing projects in the New York area in Brooklyn Brooklyn and Queens and his policies for renting to tenants in these housing projects. Were so racist that Woodie Guthrie in the nineteen fifties wrote a song about how racist it was because he lived in one of them. It's called Almond trump. And it's about how racist Fred trump was and you have to be racist in the fifties to get people's attention for our racist assist. You are by one thousand nine hundred ninety three which was the year that Donald Trump took over the trump property empire from his father. They were sued by the Nixon Administration. Restauration for racial discrimination. And again you know the Nixon administration was not going out of its way to sue over racial discrimination it had to be so gratuitous for the Nixon administration to go after them and then of course in the case of Donald there are things like the central park five the five black men wrongly accused of raping a woman in Central Park. He called for the death penalty. Not with them. They were totally exonerated by DNA. He has never apologized. He has never said that he still calls it. A miscarriage of justice and it was a miscarriage of justice but not in the way that he thinks. So what I say is that although we cannot say that Fred trump was a card carrying member of the KKK. He was arrested with five of them and nothing that he ever did in the rest of his misbegotten life makes me think that he was there to argue against the clamp. Do you think a trump. Donald trump has a full understanding branding given how ignorant and he missed. His supporters appears to be an understanding of the origin of these phrases. And can they be reinterpreted in a positive way so first of all. I think that be the best way to understand. This is that it's like it's a world view that he grew up with. He's profoundly racist. We have so much evidence to see. How racist he is does? Does he know the detailed history of this. Of course not in fact historians don't know that detailed history of this Ri- wouldn't have written the book so nobody knows it but the fact that America first has these meanings meanings is definitely not lost to history and the KKK kept it alive underground. And all of these Neo Nazi groups and right wing groups kept this phrase alive and there's lots of evidence at that they would have rallies in the sixties and say it's an America first rally you can find the flyers and handbills and stuff. So there's lots of ephemeral evidence over the years that they kept this phrase alive and now they're using it on Neo Nazi message boards. It's on the daily stormer on storm. Front it's on their websites. So these guys have always used that phrase and when and David Duke who of course is the the most senior member of the KKK in America when he endorsed Donald Trump. He did so using that phrase he said he stands for what I've always stood for. He stands for America. Erica I it is a racist dog whistle and certainly trump's advisors know that Steve Bannon does read history. And Steve. Bannon doesn't know this Steve. Bannon also resuscitated facilitated a phrase called economic nationalism which he talks about all the time and most people don't realize that economic nationalism was part of the America first platform in Nineteen Nineteen and nineteen twenty and it was to keep America out of the League of nations to keep it from signing the treaty of Versailles because Europe was a cabal of overlords who wanted to create a global economy and they were going to make America a vassal state. which should sound pretty familiar? And it's not only about the ways that has shaped American political debates but of course it sounds an awful lot like the way that people talk about Brexit and as we know Bannon has been closely involved Cambridge analytica which he was on the board of has been closely involved with both of these campaigns and and his idea of economic nationalism is a hundred year old America first agenda. He did not pluck that phrase out of the air. Stephen Miller who remains trump's senior senior advisor he's the author of the policy that separating immigrant families at the southern border. He was also clearly. The author of the speech that trump gave in the oval office when he argued for his wall so he Stephen Miller also knows this stuff and the other phrase that was really associated with America. I which which I spent a lot of time explaining in the book was one hundred percent American which was another code and Stephen Miller on his high school yearbook page that he was one hundred percent American. So these guys do know these codes and I don't know that Donald Trump understands all of this history and understands how all of it intersects but he knows that it all supports his basic world view which is a eugenicist assist world view and that is the one that he learned from his father who also knew that this stuff was America first and it wouldn't surprise me at all if he had grown up in the fifties hearing his father. Talk about America. I that wouldn't surprise me one little bit. So is the American dream dead and do we revive it by putting America first in my view is that we shouldn't try it's like saying. Can we resuscitate tate. Heil Hitler will you could. But why would you want to. I want to do the opposite which is to discredited with.

Shock and outrage as White House says next G-7 summit will be at Trump property
"There was widespread today my Mick Mulvaney announced that Donald Trump was in fact going to force the US government and other major governments around the world to pay money by hosting the g seven corral golf resort next year is the Washington Post puts it quote that decision is without precedent in modern American history. The president used his public office to direct a massive contract himself but here's the thing Durell could really use it we're bringing someone who knows more about trump's other business interests than just about anyone he's reporting on all the best three years on a Pulitzer for his invested into the President David Farren hold is great to have you here David let's start with the significance of Durrell which unlike some other properties it's not licensed it's it's it's real directly part of the presence main business holdings correct it is basically the keystone of Donald Trump's entire hospitality Gulf hotel business it produces more revenue for him every year than any hotel or golf course and he has one of its biggest loans on if you were to pick one property the donald trump's financial health dependent on this would be it very levered I mean he's got he owes people money on it he was don't you bank the original one was for one hundred twenty five million dollars to Deutsche Bank it's one of his biggest loans now you tweeted about how it's been doing and the vacancy rate typically in the summer you said the summit will be held in June Miami's hot drills usually emptying 2017 only thirty eight percent rouse rooms were occupied this is one of derails worst month so you're bringing a huge amount of business to resort at a time that is over all not doing very well financially but you're bringing it to this resort at a time when it needs that money the most as you saw Durell June is the second slowest month for Durell only August is worse they're occupancy rate is under forty percent so even if trump just charged the cost which we have no idea if he's going to but even if he didn't try to make a profit on each individual room he's filling the resort at a time it'll be mostly empty rats are great point you also noted that it has not been doing well recently this is not this is not a facility that is on the upswing no in the opposite we got some data that the trump organization itself provided to Miami Dade County that shows that between Twenty fifteen and twenty seven uh-huh span of just two years net operating income dropped seventy percent at this resort that's a huge drop at a time when every other resort in Miami is basically doing the same and the reason we saw video where a representative from the trump organization was talking to the county about why it was doing poorly in she laid the blame directly on trump she said the brand is doing really that's why this place is severely underperforming so you've okay so you've got the crown the crown jewel of his enterprise the brings in the most revenue at a time when it is vacancy rate is under four eight percent and at a time when the revenue and and use of the place the prophet is going down because of the negative brandon impacts of his presidency and what does this mean g seven's a big deal right like a lot of money is going to get spent there just to give you a sense of the scale of this thing I talked to somebody who had planned the last g seven that the US had at a private event which was in two thousand and four in Georgia they served forty five thousand meals during that week they took over this resort for ten days they pay three million dollars in two thousand and four money it's hundreds of people thousands of people that can't even allstate draft to stay at other places but you're talking about an enormous event between security diplomats journalists and the leaders themselves there's also there's also been some health problems at Toronto Daily Be Story from twenty one thousand nine about a rat infestation problem and route situation it has it has had some challenges well this year has been a good year for them they haven't had any any health code violations that's good news and our leaders who will be staying there and hopefully not norovirus but they have had in years past not that long ago they've had problems with the health code called euphemistically small live flying insects insects and other kinds of cleanliness issues in a number of kitchens at Durrell is there any I mean how how is this legal I mean honestly if anyone who's ever out there watching has ever interacted with federal contracting you know that it is one of the most common me that just complicated a legal thicket and incredibly complex process there are thousands of people throughout the government who work on it this seems to fly in the piece of every single policy there is for federal contracting but that's what's interesting about this is one of the few things which by tradition the didn't get to eat to circumvent the entire contracting process they don't put out a request for proposal evaluate bids the president sort of does this secret and then the White House just chooses a place this is Tom was never designed with the idea that the president might choose his own place so this is a case for trump has sort of unfettered unrestricted power to give the contract to whoever he wants and holy gave it to himself we'll see now in the next few weeks hopefully it'll be a little more transparency about what it looks like but they're going to be any scrutiny on the front end my favorite Presley it was a tr- Presley's I blink quoting trump from the trump works and they were honored that they were selected for this which is a really incredible piece the use of language David well thank you as always for your fantastic

"On Sunday night the White House announced that US President Donald Trump had spoken to Turkish President Richard Type Erred One and agreed that you had forces operating in northern Syria would stand aside in the event of Turkey's long threatened invasion of the area we've been in Syria for many years serious to be a short-term hip just short term hit we were supposed to be in and out that was many many years ago northern Syria is probably not a helpful way of thinking about the region concerned though is geographically the north of Syria it is practically Kurdish the area of Syria along the border with lucky has been controlled for some while by Syrian Kurdish militia called the white p g the white PG have been a key ally of the US led coalition Fighting Islamic state Turkey however considers the Y. p. g. terrorists allies of the PK eighty largely Turkey based Kurdish group who have battled Turkey for decades Turkey also wants to repatriate the two million Syrian refugees is currently hosting to the territory the wipe e. g. hold trump now seems with little consultation with anybody but other wan to have wait to in one Syrian Kurdish official by NBC News said the Americans of traitors they have abandoned us to a Turkish massacre if the why PG and Kurds in general thought their heroin in helping to tackle Islamic state would be some guarantee of American support in future they were reckoning without two things one obviously is the impulsiveness of Donald Trump who has learned what little he understands of the Middle East from Fox News which is worse than not knowing anything at ooh the other is a long history almost an ingrained habit of abandonment off the Kurds by those who profess to admire and respect them and promise to see Turku they fought with us they follow us they died with us they died we lost tens of thousands of Kurds died fighting isis they died for us and with us and for themselves but they're great people trump claims that he has not betrayed the Kurds among a series of bowl hinged and mentored tweets on the subject he has exclaimed that Inouye have we abandoned the Kurds who are special people and wonderful fighters codes will have ample reason for thinking that this is about half right the molten history of selling the cuts out dates back to the nineteen not when the Kurds hoped the dismemberment of the Ottoman Empire would at last permit them a state of their own the nineteen twenty treaty of several promised one in fact however western powers decided they cared less about this than they did about keeping the new Turkish Republic on board and the fledgling Kurdistan was quiet were encouraged by the West when there was a government in Baghdad that the West found disagreeable and ignored when there was an Iraqi rule of the West felt it could deal with in the one thousand nine hundred eighty s the west shrugged as Saddam Hussein waged a campaign of genocide against the Kurds including the use of chemical weapons in the early nineteen nineties following Gulf War One the Kurds were enjoined by President George H W Bush to rise against Saddam when they did a little help was forthcoming and the West continued to arm Turkey as it's brutal war with the PKK continued and when the United States removed Saddam in two thousand three Iraq's Kurds who had eventually being protected to some extent by a US imposed no-fly zone were the section of Iraq who did as it was hoped all Iraq would do embraced the opportunity and built a more or less functional and Western Friendly Society and there is indeed an argument that the West has no better friends or more reliable allies in the entire Middle East than the stateless Kurds as regards wine trump has done this varies the eternal Tara Khel response why does trump do anything assorted conspiracy theories are in play pertaining to trump's property interests in Istanbul his eternal Royat please Russian President Vladimir Putin for some reason and so forth but there is a simpler and likely explanation trump is now firmly in reelection mode he probably understands that he's best chance of getting a second term is to go to the people buoyed by a healthy economy and unburdened by American military involvement in countries his base couldn't point to on a map. It's hard luck for the Kurds of course but then it usually his

There is a main glasgow airport which is right next to the city of glasgow vasko. This other airport that we're talking about is called glasgow prestwick airport and they put the name glasgow on it. It's actually like thirty miles outside town. It's easy to understand why that airport which is sort of on the coast away from everything and certainly away from the center of might be in economic distress and it has been economic distress for years the idea that that under trump the u._s. military is flying into that little out of the way airport that is basically otherwise going to close and spending eleven million dollars in fuel there at that airport to prop it up because that's the airport that services has golf course.
