"After tonight, the Republican Party will never be the same and that's a great thing for America and a great thing for Republicans. That's right, Marco Rubio, at his victory speech earlier tonight, CNN is also projecting that Nancy Pelosi, Nancy labaro ha Pelosi as I like to call her Speaker of the House that she has been handily reelected. So the question now becomes if Republicans rest control away from the Democrats, which is expected and Kevin McCarthy becoming speaker, will Nancy Pelosi still want to serve in Congress even though she won't be speaker. Will she be willing to stick around? Will she want to be the minority leader maybe some other form of leadership Or will she just say, you know what? I'm outta here, folks. I was speaker twice. I'm leaving on a high note. I got reelected and now I'm going home. We could only be so lucky if she chose to do that. We will see what happens. Anyway, let us hit the phones. There's a lot I want to discuss in a lot of audio I want to play, but I don't want to not keep my word. So let us do that. Let's see, we've got Missouri, New Jersey, the Philippines, and Arizona. I want to go to right here. Jefferson City, Missouri, kwas. Let's check in with Bill. Hey Bill, what's going on? You're on with rich Valdez. It's a great evening. We have a new junior senator in Missouri. He's not in Jefferson City tonight, but he's got a young family and he's going to join Josh hawley as the junior senator from Missouri and I just listen to his speech. He's very articulate, very young man with a great family. So I just wanted to report that to you tonight and what do you think of that? I think it's great. It's fantastic. I don't live in Missouri. So what do you think of it? Well, very, very good speaker. I listened to his speech tonight on our local television station. He's in St. Louis, but he did just such an excellent job of talking about his family and the history of Missouri he even mentioned loss and Clark and the. Hubble space telescope guy from was from Missouri. So I just thought it and Mark Twain. So he got it all covered in a really nice speech. So I like this guy. This is former attorney general Eric Schmidt you're talking about. And he is a really sharp guy. He really took the lead in 2020 when the riots were happening all over the country and radical organizations were burning buildings down and going into people's homes and terrorizing people and that one married couple defended themselves in front of their home. He took the lead on that, you know, not prosecuting them and really pointing out matters of law, saying, you know, these people had a right to protect themselves. And their property. And so good for Eric Schmidt winning and defeating trudy bush Valentine in this Senate race. And I appreciate that update Bill. Another update I want to share with you guys is that there is a neck and neck nail biter of a race going on in Georgia. Now, you've got Herschel Walker who was right before this commercial break was up by 800 votes or something like that or some ridiculous number. And now Warnock is ahead by 400 votes and this is with is it 90% reporting? Yeah, around 90% reporting, this is real nail biter. And I honestly, I did not see it being this tight. So I mean, I always find these types of racist exciting. We're on the air for another 38 minutes. So if it gets called in that time, we'll be bringing you that. But I just think it's a very exciting time to be observing politics. All right, let me check with mister Hinton. How am I doing with the clock? Okay, very good. I'm going to 28 50. Okay, very good. Just double checking. I didn't know if I had gone to the break or not because I'm looking at so many things. All right, let us continue. And I want to go to New Jersey, Atlantic City, 92.3. Let's check in with Lou in May's landing. Hello. Yes. Mister Valdez. Yes, sir. Good evening, sir. Likewise. You know what? I think that the administration has got to take a very hard look at the southern border and close it down. There is a lot of illegals that are coming over and my parents came here. Legally, but they had to go through a process. This thing that's going on right now in the southern border is a complete joke. Especially for myself, I served a little bit with the army National Guard. Being a veteran, being born and raised here in this country and I see people coming across the border and they're saying, well, I'm seeking asylum, and I'm seeking asylum. That's a complete joke to me. And it's a smack in my face as an American citizen that I've got to look at people that are getting handouts, and my mother right now is in a nursing home. And I am like having to go to hurdles to get her on Medicare and Medicaid.

"Of the past. That's the governor's race. Let's turn to another one. 2020, election denier Mark fincham, won the Republican primary for Secretary of State, which means he'll be in charge of the state's next presidential election if he wins the office thought. Yeah, fincham has called for throwing out the results of the 2020 presidential election. He's been really a big supporter of the stop the steel movement was in Washington, D.C. on January 6th. And this is, again, another indication of how 2020 is just looming over this race, right? Trump really embraced fincham and that seems to have helped. Again, in what was a very crowded field. Well, and we just have to mention rusty Bowers was on the ballot. He's the Republican speaker of the Arizona House, who gave that testimony to the January 6th committee. Explaining how the Trump administration tried to get him to change the outcome of the election, he lost badly. I mean, that sends some sort of signal. Yeah, Bowers was running for a seat in the state Senate, and ordinarily, you know, that wouldn't be hard for him, right? He is a fixture of the state's Republican politics. He was running in a very conservative district, but Trump endorsed his opponent, former legislator David farnsworth, and yeah, Bowers now way behind, and Trump act legislative candidates around the state are winning an on track in some cases to oust Republican lawmakers who are incumbents. Arizona public media, political reporter Andrew Oxford in Tucson, thanks so much, Andrew. Thanks. All right, let's go to Missouri now where candidates in both parties are trying to claim the U.S. Senate seat of retiring Roy blunt. After the primary, it will be Eric Schmidt, Republican. Against Democrat trudy bush Valentine. Sarah Kellogg is Missouri state house reporter for St. Louis public radio and she's on the line hi Sarah. Hello. Okay, on the Republican side, two erics, attorney general Eric Schmidt, beat former governor Eric greitens, who faced accusations of domestic abuse by his wife, he resigned in 2018 as governor. Schmidt won handily was that expected? I think the definitely the tides were kind of turning into Schmidt's favor though great and did kind of have a surge, but yeah, he won pretty handily and it was called pretty early in the night. You run around 46% of the vote and that likely sets up a pretty straightforward race in November, kind of without a surprise factor. Okay, I want to first ask you about this head scratching endorsement. Donald Trump, former president, messaged Monday night in favor simply of Eric. There of course were two erics, I guess you could say he hedged very well. Did this throw a wrench into the electoral works? You know, I'm not sure how much it did and part of it was because of just how late this endorsement came. You know, it was the day before and it was the latter part of the day at that. And that does not get a lot of time to get the message out and furthermore, like you said, it was just the vague endorsement of just Eric. No last name. And both Eric greitens and Eric Schmidt claimed that endorsement crichton's claimed at first, but Schmidt was not far behind, and so it's hard to determine kind of what impact that endorsement had, if any. Yeah, well, professional politician, I would claim it too, I guess. On the democratic side, trudy bush Valentine won, she is a nurse, heir to the Anheuser Busch family fortune. What are her odds in this red state? I would say with Schmidt winning the nomination, her odds have decreased quite a bit. That was why there was so much spending against Eric brightens because the idea of great and winning the nomination could have put at risk what's considered a pretty safe Republican seat. So Bush Valentine, she won around 43% of the vote. She came in to the race later than some other opponents she actually declared candidacy, the last day she could file to one, but she ran a pretty moderate democratic campaign. I'm not sure how much that might ate or down in November. All right, Sarah Kellogg, St. Louis public radio. Thank you. Thank you so much. Okay, let's go to Michigan. Tudor Dixon, won the Republican primary for governor, she'll be facing the incumbent democratic governor Gretchen Whitmer in the fall. Zoe Clark is with us by Skype. She's director of content at Michigan radio. Zoe former president Trump gave a late endorsement only last Friday to Dixon in this kind of messy primary that included a candidate arrested on a January 6th charge. Is that why she pulled ahead, do you think? Yeah, the thing it was messy is the nice way of putting it in. I mean, it's certainly helped, but let's be very clear. This was not a Trump hand picked candidate as we have seen sort of elsewhere throughout the country. And even here with other candidates in Michigan, Tudor Dixon was a conservative media personality. She was really unknown earlier this year. She got some important endorsements back in May here in Michigan Republican politics. And she was starting because of those endorsements to trend in the direction that looked like she could possibly win and might. But like you mentioned, it was only last Friday night that Trump probably smelling a win decided to put his name on that endorsement for Tudor Dixon. Well, then he could encouraged also by Betsy devos, is that this race? Via a handwritten letter, yes. Betsy devos, who was his secretary of education, but then resigned after January 6th, actually was one of those folks that endorsed Tudor Dixon back in May and that comes with a lot of money here in Michigan. Okay, well, she'll be facing sitting governor Whitmer, who's had to face, you know, a plot to kidnap her, a lot of criticism. But I want to look at a closely watched house race. This is congressman Peter Meyer, who narrowly lost yesterday. He voted to impeach president Trump, John Gibbs, a former official from the Department of Housing and urban development. One. But there's been a lot of criticism of Democrats because they threw actually money behind gives thinking that he was more radical right-wing candidate and it would be easier for Democrat to beat him. A lot of criticism though. Yeah, over $425,000 the DCCC is spending on these ads and basically like you said, they were ads that were meant to boost John gives who the Democrats want to run against, but it wasn't boosting like John Gibbs is a great candidate. It was boosting and saying that he is this far right maga endorsed candidate. He ended up winning, but I think Democrats, like you say, they need to be careful what they wish for. Well, Gibbs will face the democratic nominee Hillary school in November. She's a former lawyer at the Department of Justice. She lost to Meyer in 2020, but there's been some redistricting, you know, what's the sense of whether the Democrats will succeed in turning the seat blue or if that attempt will blow up. Yeah, I mean, there are some folks who are already calling it a leans democratic seat because it's new maps because of redistricting and to the Democrats earlier point. I think it probably would have been more competitive, had a more moderate candidate like Peter Meyer been in the race, but now that it is going to be really conservative John Gibbs, I think Democrats are really happy with this result and think that has a chance. And a good chance with that. Well, you know, we have a few seconds here. I'm going to go back to governor Whitmer. What is your sense of that race? Yeah, I mean, it's hard to lose. She has nearly raised 30 million dollars, a huge amount history making amount here in Michigan. She is going to be really hard to meet in the money game and with modern day politics. That

"Campaign 2022 on WTF 5 states held primary elections last night, the results are still flowing in for some races including from Washington state and Arizona. Ken rudin hosted a political junkie podcast who was also covered politics for ABC News and NPR joined me a little earlier to discuss Kansas voters rejecting a referendum that had the potential to completely ban abortion in that state. That referendum for months now is the first test since roe versus wade was overturned. And of course, Kansas is a very conservative state. It has an elected a Democrat for the presidency since Lyndon Johnson in 1964 has an elected Democrat to the Senate since 1932. So shall we say this is a conservative state. However, it was overwhelming that they had the opportunity voters had the opportunity to reverse abortion rights protections that are in the state constitution and the voters voted 61 to 39 against making that change. So for those who think that abortion and the road decision may be a very consequential for November, this was a very interesting thing to watch and yesterday in Kansas. A highly controversial former Missouri governor Eric greitens has not won the Republican nomination for Senate, Missouri, the nod goes to attorney general Eric Schmidt, and he'll battle trudy bush Valentine on the democratic side for the Senate. What do you think of this matchup? Great news for the Republican Party. They were scared to death about Eric Brighton's who has a lot of controversies in his past about sexual harassment and things like that and the Republicans when he was the FrontRunner. They said, oh, we could actually lose his seat. Matter of fact, two days ago, Donald Trump said, I'm endorsing Eric. Now we didn't know if that meant Eric Schmidt or Eric brightens, but the point is Eric Brighton's finished a week third. If Eric Schmidt, who won the nomination for the Republicans, which means in all likelihood, the Republicans are going to keep that seat that senator Roy blunt is giving up. What's the final thought you'd leave us with this morning? Well, one thing I wanted to say that people may not pay attention to, remember rusty Bowers, the guy who testified on the January 6th committee, he was the Arizona state speaker who now realized that Donald Trump was lying about so many things. He looks like he's going to lose his bid for the state Senate rusty Bowers. Everybody thought he might be a hero, but right now Arizona voters are going to vote him out. He's not going to be in office any longer. Again, another victory, perhaps for Donald Trump. "P 5 states held primary elections last night results are still flowing in for some races including Washington state and Arizona. Joining us live on Skype can Ruben host of the political junkie podcast who is also covered politics for ABC News and NPR Good morning, Ken. Good morning. We've seen some fascinating results in the races for governor Senate and the U.S. House, but let's begin with the voters of Kansas rejecting a referendum that had the potential to completely ban abortion in that state. As the first government in the country had been watching that referendum for months now, it's the first test since roe versus wade was overturned. And of course, Kansas is a very conservative state, has an elected a republic. It hasn't elected a Democrat for the presidency since Lyndon Johnson in 1964 has an elected Democrat to the Senate since 1932. So shall we say this is a conservative state. However, it was overwhelming that they had the opportunity, voters had the opportunity to reverse abortion rights protections that are in the state constitution and the voters voted 61 to 39 against making that change. So for those who think that abortion and the road decision may be a very consequential for November, this was a very interesting thing to watch and yesterday in Kansas. Absolutely. They were scared to death about Eric right and who has a lot of controversies in his past about sexual harassment and things like that and the Republicans when he was the FrontRunner. They said, oh, we could actually lose his seat. Matter of fact, yesterday, two days ago, Donald Trump said, I'm endorsing Eric. Now we didn't know if that meant Erika Schmidt or Eric greitens, but the point is Eric Brighton's finished a week third. If Eric Schmidt, who won the nomination for the Republicans, which means in all likelihood, the Republicans are going to keep that seat that senator Roy blunt is giving up. Gotcha. Keep it in mind. We're still waiting for the results from Arizona and Washington to state and some of the other states has it been a good night for Donald Trump or a bit of a disappointment for him so far. Well, you know, we always seem to have a scorecard regarding Donald Trump every primary night. It's probably both because if you look at Arizona right now, the Republican candidate and the Republican primary for governor, Karen Taylor ropes and it has a 9 point lead over Carrie Lake. Now the only reason I mentioned this up is only about 57% of the vote has been counted, but Trump back carry Lake Mike Pence back the ropes and who has the lead of both Pence and outgoing governor Doug ducey back ropes and so you have Kerry Lake, who's very strong on election denial. I mean, she was one of those trumpers when it comes to not accepting the results of 2020. And yet ropes and who now has a lead who said, look, you know, Joe Biden is our president. So in that sense, it was a bad result for Donald Trump. But elsewhere like Chris kobach, who used to be a work for Trump regarding election integrity and things like that, he's leading in Kansas for a state attorney general. So there are a lot of issues where it's very possible that Donald Trump will come out and say, look, you know, I win, and of course he could say that in Missouri because of course he endorsed Eric. Of course. It might be the smartest thing he's done as of late, but don't use last name just his first name. Exactly. We got about 20 seconds left. What's the final thought you'd leave us with this morning? Well, one thing I wanted to say that people may not pay attention to remember rusty Bowers, the guy who testified on the January 6th committee, he was the Arizona state speaker who now realized that Donald Trump was lying about so many things. He looks like he's going to lose his bid for the state Senate rusty Bowers. He everybody thought he might be a hero, but right now Arizona voters are going to vote him out. He's not going to be in office any longer. Again, another victory, perhaps for Donald Trump. Thank you so much. That was Ken rudin of the political junkie podcast joining us on Skype. Thank you very much, Ken. Thank you. All right, and now coming up, let's why don't we go to two sports? Sports at 15 and 45 powered by Red River. Technology decisions aren't black and white. Think red all right, let's go to rob woodfork. Hall of Fame broadcast legend Vince Scully has died, his records are countless, 67 years as voice of the Dodgers, the youngest to call the World Series at age 25 in what was the first of 25 World Series play by play assignments. 20 no hitters, 12 all star games. Vin Scully, the most famous WTO alum was 94. No easy transition to the new look nationals 5 one winners over the first place mets to begin life without Juan Soto. Dave Martinez was just happy to have all the trade deadline madness behind him. I was relieved. I really was, I mean, I felt a different breath of fresh air and premieres about regrouping. And saying, this is what we need to do moving forward. So I was proud of the boys going out there today and doing what they did. Especially the rookies, Corey Abby tossed 5 scoreless innings in his first startup for the Nats in 30 year old Joey manesis in his long awaited major league debut, homered in his second at bat as the villain for the departed Josh bell, who along with Soto was del two San Diego for 6 players. Orioles fans saw all star closer Jorge Lopez dealt in Minnesota, but Jorge Mateo Homer twice in a 8 two victory in Texas. Ron Rivera's commanders were again without Curtis Samuel, but had their first training camp practice in pads. Just wanted to make sure that as we ramp this intensity up that we are doing things the right way. We don't want to lose our focus and our intent in terms of developing learning and growing just because we got the pads on. We got to play within ourselves. The mystics are doing that. They're winners of 9 of their last 12 after an impressive 83 73 win over the Las Vegas aces to sweep the season series and slide into fourth in the WNBA. Sports. Thank you, rob

"On WTO voters in 5 states are holding their primaries this evening, Arizona, Michigan, Missouri, Washington, and Kansas voters selecting their candidates for the November general election. But let's start off in Missouri though we've been watching a Senate races is on the GOP side, and first of all, it starts with Roy blunt retiring. That's how all this started, 21 Republicans have been seeking the Senate seat of Roy blunt, but in the end it is establishment Republican and current attorney general, Eric Schmidt, who has won over Eric greitens, who is a much more controversial figure, president Trump last night just said I endorsed Eric. He wouldn't specify whether it was Schmidt or greitens, but a loss for Eric brightens who had some very controversial and campaign ads that some say promoted violence. He has gone down to defeat on the democratic side tonight trudy bush Valentine in the lead with 44% of the vote, but it hasn't been called yet. So this is the Senate race in Missouri. Now some other results to tell you about tonight, Kansas democratic governor Laura Kelly will be facing Republican challenger Derek Schmidt in the general election. Also in Kansas, voters are deciding whether to remove a state constitutional amendment protecting a woman's right to abortion so far the answer is no. Not all the votes are in yet, but I just want to very quickly bring you the latest results on that and it is 62% saying no, 37% saying yes, this is the question should the state constitution in Kansas be amended to remove protection of abortion rights. So abortion rights may continue to prevail in Kansas and we'll continue to watch that on WTO. Meanwhile, in Michigan, democratic governor Gretchen Whitmer will face Trump backed Republican candidate Tudor Dixon in the fall. And some of the most contentious races are in Arizona where the Republican governor's primary has turned into a proxy fight between former president Donald Trump and his former vice president Mike Pence with both men endorsing a different GOP candidate, three Republican House members who voted to impeach Donald Trump for the January 6th insurrection are also seeking reelection. Jerry Moran has won the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in the Kansas primary election. And we just want to add one more result here and that is Mark Holland winning the democratic nomination for U.S. Senate again in the Kansas primary. So Jerry Moran versus Mark Holland tonight. Let's kick back over to Arizona where a couple of Republicans in that state recruited to help former president Trump stay in office after his 2020 election defeat, told one of his lawyers they feared their actions could be viewed as treasonous. The New York Times reviewed emails, which indicated that Arizona Republican Party chair Kelly ward and state senator Kelly Townsend were concerned about the legality of a plan to present a fake slate of electors claiming the Trump had won Arizona. Ward ultimately did sign on to the fake electric scheme while Townsend stepped away. She did not, both women have been subpoenaed by the Justice Department for information about the fake electric scheme and documents detailing their communications with the Trump legal team. A watchdog group is calling on the Justice Department to investigate the wiping of outgoing top Defense Department and army officials cell phones at the end of the Trump administration. The action eliminated text from some of the key witnesses to activities surrounding the January 6th riot, according to CNN, the acknowledgment that the phones were wiped and text messages not preserved was revealed in a freedom of information act lawsuit brought by American oversight, the group filed foia requests within days of the January 6th attack, seeking records from several top Pentagon officials, there is no suggestion that the officials themselves erased the records. Also new tonight, the Senate has approved legislation to provide new healthcare benefits for military veterans, including those who camped outside the capitol for days to put pressure on lawmakers. WTO's Mitchell Miller on Capitol Hill. The yeas are 86, the nays are 11. Many Republicans switched their votes for a second time to support the bill after their amendments were considered and failed. Comedian Jon Stewart held vigil with veterans here in Washington. To just get the healthcare and benefits that they earn from their service. And now after well over a decade of efforts, including several days spent outside the capitol, they heard the words they've been waiting for from Senate majority leader Chuck Schumer. If you are a veteran from Vietnam to Iraq to Afghanistan to everywhere in between and you get sick from burn pit exposure or agent orange, you will finally be able to get your earned benefits guaranteed. The bill now goes to the president for his signature. On Capitol Hill, Mitchell Miller, WTO news. Still ahead here on WTO, your middle of the week, forecast, and then the House speaker Nancy Pelosi, she did it. She went to Taiwan. We'll talk about what effect that's having globally tonight. Ten 37. Here's a highlight from Bill Wright, the senior director for North American government affairs at Splunk on the zero trust cyber exchange presented by Keras off. "Estimates. It is ten 11 Campaign 2022 here on WTO. Eric greitens of former Missouri governor with a troubled past is projected to lose the race for the GOP Senate nomination in Missouri. The projected winner is Eric Schmidt, the current attorney general. Also in Michigan, two door Dixon, former conservative commentator and actor endorsed by ex-president Trump has won Michigan's Republican governor's primary tonight, so Dixon would face off in the general election against incumbent democratic governor Gretchen Whitmer, who ran unopposed. Joining us live on Skype Ken rudin host of the political junkie podcast who is also covered politics for ABC News and NPR, let's start with Eric Schmidt's victory over the other Eric Eric greitens. What does that tell us? Well, they haven't actually called the Erika Schmidt victory yet. They haven't called the race yet, but as Dmitry just said, Eric greitens looks like he's a poor third place. And that's good news for the Republican Party. They were scared to death that Eric brightens the former governor who resigned from the governorship in 2018 because of his sex scandal. He was also accused by his ex-wife of sexual harassment and physical altercations, so the Republicans were scared to death that great would be the nomine because of the longest time he led in the polls. If Schmidt does win as expected, of course, that's good news for the Republicans and I'm sure that it's good news for Donald Trump because yesterday Donald Trump said I endorse Eric. For the Senate. And of course, that could mean Eric brightens or it could mean Eric Schmidt, but as long as an Eric wins as fine with Donald Trump. Good news for the Republican Party and their effort to keep the Senate seat that Rory blunt is giving up. So just to clarify here and I know that you're following a lot of the stuff Ken as we are, both The New York Times and the AP have called Eric Schmidt. Offers you any clarity. So that's good news. I mean, I am an Associated Press follower for years and they go along with that. They are very cautious. I'm very cautious too, but if the AP is gone within, then let's go the network Schmidt is the winner and that means that the Republican and then that means that the Republican Party is likely to keep the Senate seat, whether it's against either Democrat or wins trudy bush Valentine. She's an heir to the bush beer fortune. She may be the leading Democrat. But again, this is a very Republican state, Missouri. This is a seat that hasn't gone for a Democrat since 1980, which was Thomas eagleton. We will remember him, but it looks like the Republicans will keep it. So moving on to Michigan and Tudor Dixon, we mentioned a former conservative commentator actor endorsed by ex-president Trump. How do you see that match up with Gretchen Whitmer, of course, has been in the job for years, but has been surrounded by controversy of her own making, but controversy from people surrounding her, including the very serious threat on her life in recent years. Exactly, they try to they tried to kidnap her and goodness knows what would have happened, had they done that. She was first elected four years ago. She is a Democrat Republicans would love to defeat the interests of interesting thing about tuna Dixon is not only has Donald Trump endorsed her but so has the Betsy devos and the devos family. The devos family and Donald Trump do not get along Betsy devos was a critic of Donald Trump's behavior on January 6th. So the fact that you have the devos family and Donald Trump together for tutor Dixon is a good sign for the Republicans, but you know Gretchen Whitmer has a lot of money. She's still fairly popular. It's definitely going to be a governor's race to watch. Well, thank you for joining us again that was Ken rudin host of the political junkie podcast who has also covered politics for ABC News and NPR. And we just wanted to make sure that from our broadcast election desk that we add this that just came in a few minutes ago, Mark Holland has won the democratic nomination for U.S. Senate in the Kansas primary election. We've reached a time of night Luke where we're going to be getting a lot of these results and we'll be bringing them to you as quickly as we can

"Or never. At nationals park Dave Preston WTO news. Just into the WTO newsroom and this is the election related tonight. The Associated Press and other news organizations are calling it for Eric Schmidt to win the Republican nomination for U.S. Senate in Missouri's primary election. Now, there were two erics in this race and president Trump just last night famously said, I endorse Eric, not suggesting whether it was Eric Schmidt or Eric greitens. Eric greitens is a former governor in Missouri and a very troubled candidate. He also created some very interesting and some say very polarizing controversial campaign ads as well. But Eric Schmidt is the projected winner in the U.S. Senate race on the Republican side in Missouri. And so far on the democratic side, no call yet, but trudy bush Valentine of the famous bush beer family, trudy bush, Valentine in the lead with 44% of the vote. We've got a lot more coming up election material wise just ahead here on WTO. Meanwhile, we're learning more about the case against a former Baltimore city cop, accused of molesting kids at his wife's day care. Baltimore county police telling WTO they're talking to more potential victims. Right now, James weems is facing 13 charges, including sexual abuse of three kids. According to multiple reports, investigators are working on interviewing 93 kids that went to his wife's owings mills fake here. "Is our producer, top stories we're following for you tonight. Campaign 2022 on WTO be voters in 5 states are holding their primaries this evening with some polls now closed the first polls closed in the 8 o'clock hour. Arizona, Michigan, Missouri, Washington and Kansas voters all selecting their candidates for the November general election and just to be super specific. It is Washington state voters tonight. Some of the most contentious races are in Arizona where the Republican governors primary has turned into a proxy fight between former president Trump and his former vice president Mike Pence with both men and endorsing a different GOP candidate. In Kansas voters are deciding whether to remove a state constitutional amendment, protecting a woman's right to abortion. Three Republican House members who voted to impeach Donald Trump for the January 6th insurrection are seeking reelection. Early returns. Now, this is with less than 1% of the votes in and this is the U.S. Senate race in Missouri to replace the retiring Roy blunt on the Republican side, Eric Schmidt is in the lead with 38%. Vicky hartzler and second place 30% Eric greitens in third place at 16%. Former president Trump last night just said he's endorsing Eric leaving it up to people to decide whether he meant Schmidt or greitens. On the democratic side, trudy bush Valentine with 50% of the vote over Lucas kunz, who was at 27%. That's the democratic primary for Senate in Missouri, popping over to Michigan. We've got some numbers in 4% of precincts reporting in the Michigan primary for governor on the Republican side Tudor Dixon in first place, 47 and a half percent. Kevin rinky and second place about 22% Ryan Kelly with 14% of the vote in third place. Gretchen Whitmer on the democratic side is the incumbent and she is running uncontested. Other news tonight, two Arizona Republicans recruited to help former president Trump stay in office after his 2020 election defeat, told one of his lawyers they feared their actions could be viewed as treasonous. The New York Times reviewed emails, which indicated that Arizona Republican Party chair Kelly ward and state senator Kelly Townsend were concerned about the legality of a plan to present fake electors, a fake slate of electors claiming that Trump had won an Arizona ward ultimately did sign on to the fake electric scheme, townshend did not. "The home estimates. Now 8 ten. And its campaign 2022 on WTO, former president Donald Trump's endorsement power being put to the test as 5 states hold primary elections tonight, abortion rights and impeachment consequences also in play as voters in Arizona, Kansas, Michigan, Missouri and Washington state head to the polls just want to share with you some very early returns. This is with less than 1% of precincts reporting. And this is the U.S. Senate race in Missouri, where Roy blunt is retiring. So on the Republican side, we've got two candidates named Eric and president Trump said yesterday he endorses Eric Eric Schmidt has 38% of the vote Vicky hartzler with 30% and then the other Eric, Eric greitens, former governor at 16% on the democratic side, trudy bush Valentine, some observers have referred to her as the beer heiress. She is from the Bush family, the well-known beer company. She's got 51% of the vote. Lucas kunz has 27%. So that's what's happening. Just some early numbers here. We're going to bring in Jeff duford. He's editor in chief of national journal, not much to play on with those early numbers, but can we jump into Missouri a little bit, Jeff and talk about what you know there and what you may be expecting? I would love to, as you said, the storyline out of Missouri, at least over the last 48 hours or so, has been like a plot line from the show veep, where rather than actually come out and endorse one of the candidates, Trump just endorsed Eric because they're both named Eric. This on a more serious note is a really, really critical race, however. This all 5 of these states could be in play this fall. So this, I think, is one of the most important primary nights since the Georgia and Alabama night that we had back in the spring. But we've got Eric greitens who was the leader for most of this race. He is a really problematic candidate. He's a former governor, had to step down. I made all sorts of ethical clouds and allegations of sexual assault. Issues with his ex-wife. Eric Schmidt is the state attorney general, only recently when Republican allied groups ported a lot of money on his behalf, has Schmidt finally caught up and now surpassed writings. He's expected to win and in so doing probably keep this state where it should be, according to Republicans, which is in the red column, had greitens gotten the nomination. This really, I should say, if greitens gets the nomination, this could really be a toss up race in the fall, which is not something Republicans are looking to do, spend money in a state like Missouri. Apologize, we don't have time to take a deep dive in all 5 states here just as you did with this race in Missouri, but are you next most closely looking at Arizona? I'm speaking in terms of people who are concerned about election deniers, possibly winning some of these positions. Yeah, this is this state is exhibit a in terms of the Trump establishment quote unquote versus the Trump wing of the party. You've got Kerry Lake endorsed by Trump for governor versus Karen Taylor Robson endorsed by Mike Pence and a number of other Republican establishment figures on the Senate side. Similarly, you've got the Peter Thiel backed candidate. On the one hand it looks like he's probably going to win Blake masters is his name. He looks like he's probably going to win over some more establishment candidates like the attorney general, Mike brnovich, the question is, if Trump gets the victories tonight that he's hoping for are those candidates then weaker going into the general election and do they give Democrats a little bit of an advantage in November. So that's an interesting I don't want to say it's counterintuitive, but you'd think they'd actually get some supercharged atmosphere, if you will. If they win tonight, but you're saying they may weaken. Yeah, I think a year ago that might have been the case, but the shine is starting to come off Trump's star, even among Republicans now a little bit, a combination of January 6th and just the constant drum beat of ethical issues and legal trouble that he's got. And his mixed record in some of these primaries in terms of endorsing candidates. His record has been far from perfect in the at least in the higher profile races. So a lot of candidates and establishment figures are not afraid to try to run in a different lane than Trump lane. We appreciate the update Jeff and we'll talk to you a little later tonight. Thanks so much. Sure thing. Yep. Jeff do four. He's live on Skype and he's national journals, editor in chief, as we're just getting the first results fewer than 1% in some of the Missouri races a long way to go tonight with 5 states with people voting. Next, though, turning to sports a blockbuster trade pulls Juan Soto from the nationals lineup against the mets tonight and not just from the lineup. He has gone from the team. "Of a Greenland shark in the tropics. Thank you very much for sharing your story with us. Thank you so much for having me. You're listening to all things considered from NPR news. 5 states hold statewide primaries today, and one of the key races is in Missouri, where there's an open U.S. Senate seat. Now, most of the attention has been on the Republican side because one of the GOP candidates is causing some people on the party to worry that if he does win tonight, it could put the seat currently held by Republicans in jeopardy. Jason Rosenbaum covers politics for St. Louis public radio and joins us now. Welcome. Thank you so much for having me. Well, thank you for being with us. Okay, so let's start on the Republican side in that race real quick. Who are the main candidates there? The major candidates thus far are attorney general Eric Schmidt, former governor Eric greitens and current congresswoman Vicky hartzler. And Schmidt is someone who touts his legal efforts battling the Biden administration and has emerged as the candidate who many feel are is poised to win. And that would be a relief to the Missouri Republican Party who, as you mentioned, have been very worried that Eric greitens could win. Right. And remind us why some Republicans are very worried about frightens winning. Greitens resigned in 2018 in a torrent of scandal following sexual misconduct and campaign finance allegations. And there's new allegations in this campaign as his ex-wife alleged abuse of her and their son. And many Republicans throughout the state just feel he's too toxic to win and could cost the Republican Party a safe seat. Here's Eric Schmidt hammering that point home yesterday in Washington, Missouri. He would lose this scene. He's abused his wife in his kid and he's quit on the people of the state. It doesn't get any easier in Washington, D.C.. He quit on you before, he'll quit on you again. Now, I want to make it clear that greitens has denied the abuse allegations, but his lead in the polls has withered away thanks to an avalanche of third party ads highlighting his ex-wife's accusations and ironically, greitens gubernatorial win in 2016 is credited to third party ads that attacked his opponents. And then there was this strange sort of non endorsement from former president Trump yesterday, right? Like what happened there? If this race needed to get any wilder, this takes the cake. One of the biggest parlor games in Missouri is who Trump would endorse in this race. And that's because Trump is wildly popular in the state and candidates spent a lot of time and effort trying to win the former president's support. Yesterday though, Trump endorsed Eric. Yes, just the first name, as both Eric greitens and Eric Schmidt share that name. And Trump said he was leaving it up to voters to decide, but he was basically punting on that decision. But both candidates publicized this endorsement, including greitens, had a campaign stop yesterday in St. Louis county. President Trump's message on this has been extraordinarily clear. Is everybody knows I'm the maga champion in this race. Eric Schmidt's a rhino. President Trump said he wanted a warrior. I'm a navy seal running against a career politician. And just for the listeners here, rhino, of course, is shorthand for Republicans in name only a term used to describe members of the GOP who are insufficiently conservative. Greitens has made this disdain of the GOP establishment a major aspect of his campaign, which includes a widely condemned web ad where he stormed into a house with a gun with people dressed as soldiers hunting rhinos. Okay, and real quick what about the democratic side in this race? The two major candidates are trudy bush ballantine and Anheuser Busch air and Lucas kunta marine veteran and attorney. Most people agree though that if Schmidt or hartzler win the nomination tonight, they're going to face an uphill battle in the fall because Democrats in Missouri have not pieced together a coalition to win statewide elections

"Louis, Missouri, hey Steve, what's on your mind today? Hey Tom, I was going to talk about the Missouri abortion issue. I still do, but I need to let you know that Lucas koontz, he's brought in for Missouri Senate here in the state of Missouri. 39 years old, he's like your average Missouri. Came up with humble beginnings. And now we have another Democrat, candidate. Her name is trudy, bush. Now in time, not quite sure if she's a corporate Democrat, but she is a multi millionaire because of Herbie and heirs to the August Bush family. So these are the I didn't catch who these folks are, Steve. You're talking people who are both they're both running against each other. They're both in the primary. Right. To run the United States Senate against two. Josh hawley? No, this is to take the retired seat of Matt blunt. Yeah, okay. Yeah. And what I was trying to get at is, you know, we don't need another Kirsten sinema or Manchin in there. Tell me about it. So I'm really pushing missourians to vote for Lucas. That being said, you know, Missouri and they routinely reject a year hyper conservatism. And I have hoped for our state. I really believe that our state might go blue. And the reason why I say that is because Medicaid was expanded. Yeah. We had to take our governor to court, but we won. Medical marijuana was legalized. A later response were endorsed as well. And the minimum wage was raised. Is brightens your governor or your gubernatorial Canada? Yes. He's the Republican who's going to be for another. He's trying to take one seat. Yeah. But this was all done at the ballot box. All those issues. And now all of a sudden the conservatives in Jefferson City, the capital, are shaking in their boots because now the Missouri is one of put abortion to the people. Which is the ballot box. Yep. So I am hope for our state. I really do. You wonder, though, if those things have deflated the energy because the people have been able to accomplish them so they just kind of ignore the state House and Senate and let the Republicans stay there. Well, on the legend of things like that, bring out Democrats to vote. Honestly, and we have a Republicans in this state that want to keep the abortion the way it was. We really do. Sure. They're all over the country. And the reason why they don't want to bring it up to the ballot box because the Republicans, they now know that it will
