"Eisen show be final quarter of the. NFL season begins bad. That wow four weeks to go. That's it that's it that's all that's all she wrote in this two thousand nine hundred. NFL One hundred season that has been dynamite. Dynamite it is wide open. There are five ten when teams none of them played in A huge contest. Huge cowboys embarrassed. This this evening monster big. The Chicago bears came into the season. They hosted the first. NFL One hundred game against the Green Bay packers. They came into the season getting double doing data the playoffs last year. Where their kicker a hit the the two pieces of metal and then the today show circuit and then the road that was the that was the the way it all worked for? The bears can't believe he went today. Did and and then the bears. We all thought year two of Trubisky Nagy would be just as good offensively souflias year one was where Nagy wins coach of the year and the bears win the division and host a home playoff game Philadelphia Eagles but Don't make it here to Los Los Angeles is what they would have done for an NFC divisional playoff game. Run it back with the defense however Chuck Pagano Donna would be the one coordinating and it's not the defense that's been the issue. It's been the offense at total shadow of its former self. That has now. Has Everyone in Chicago. Second guessing or e can't say that they second-guessed the the drafting of Mitchell trubisky within seconds of it happening. So what are we are. We third guessing trubisky now or I guess maybe four guessing. The second guessing was draft night. Third Guessing was the John Fox first year with trubisky right and now we're fourth guessing it and yet they're still six six bears win. That went out your ten in six and they might be the ten win team. That doesn't make the playoffs else in the NFC is as I predicted about a month plus ago. But let's not get ahead of ourselves because the last two weeks of bears wins against the dreadful fool giants and then against alliance team that started David. Blau on Thanksgiving and they still needed a comeback to pull that one off. What about tonight and team coming in? You can't even call Dallas desperate. I mean I. I don't even know what you would call them. I I want to see the attitude tonight. That Michael Bennett showed him that locker room after they lost their second game in five days in front of a nationally gathered audience on Thanksgiving when they were flat out embarrassed at home by the Buffalo Bills. Flat out totally embarrassed. The emperor had no clothes. There was no pilot. The foam was in the Pie. Whatever you want to do in terms of allegory totally punked at home by the Buffalo Bills? The worst Clint Eastwood movie ever the revenge of Coal Beasley. That was a terrible terrible terrible idea when they pitched it in the room. It was immediately ejected here in Hollywood but yet it happened. Yeah.

"He needed all the reps you could get during the preseason all though he is now a third year player and he's in the second in europe the system. He's still a guy who needs to continue to take his game to another level. You saw target targeting wide receivers last night in this really drawing defenders into his primary throwing throwing lanes because he looked like a guy who hadn't seen this kind of speed in a while so until you are able to adjust your expectations. You're going to be disappointed especially for the first four weeks of the season. Here's my fear are the chicago bears to waste really really good defense. Everything's going to be overshadowed and the fact that they lost that football game. The bears were without a doubt the best defense on that football field regardless harvest. What the scoreboard said khalil mack young good leonard floyd roquan smith they have all the pieces and watch how he came down hill right there that one of my favorite place on the second play of the game the bears defense phenomenal kyle fuller the way he can break on the ball. I just hope that the bears don't waste <hes> generational type of defenses because it's hard to acquire talent like that. The packers invested in their defense. This offseason forty eight million dollars in free agency the last three years their first two picks in the draft defensive players five of them defensive backs that all paid paid off last night. They ran a ton of dime defense sixty bs on the field. That's mitch trubisky struggle the most and so when you make investments whether it's free agency the draft you like to see those begin to to pay dividends and you heard aaron rodgers talk about how great was that defense as a quarterback. He's a hall of fame guy that makes them feel completely comfortable when they can can handle off on a third and five at the end of the game and let your defense take it from there. You're vilma. Let me ask you this because obviously green. Bay's defense was good. How about on the other side. What did you see for mitch trubisky permit severity. I've seen antsy quarterback. I see someone that has developed in his second year and i was really concerned because they didn't have any goto place. Hey this is the second year in the offense. Mitch trubisky nagy should know all right. I call x. Play defense show they show up with. I can get the ball out to somebody and get comfortable comfortable and he never looked comfortable everytime we watch him trying to get into the bucket looking them to start to bounce bounce move around the yes. I'll give credit to the packers defense but your business should be much farther along in his progression right now to lose point when you don't play in the preseason ingredient. We've talked about this several times. Just knock in the preseason when you don't play those preseason the season games you're gonna be sloppy. Specifically on offense offense has to dictate where i disagree. Drew brees granted. We're talking to a much different quarterback. He doesn't play a lot on the preseason. He knows he knows where to go with the football. That's my issue right now. Talking about a whole. I'm talking about one hundred zanu offense and i'm talking about. This should be played that you know where there's a lot of around here. Look matt didn't necessarily call his best game last night. Either because of the things that you can't see on t._v. Is obviously asleep mid sitting there bouncing and holding the football guys aren't open. It's sitting there going with worse. I throw it out. There's a lot of things that really need to be worked on here and they have a lot of work work to do and it wasn't just a quarterbacks. If you saw the delay games the substitute in preseason. It's like homework nobody likes to do you need a first second and forty forty one point all of these things all of these things can be true at the same time but the one thing that is for certain that even if neither team really looked ready to play the game counts and the bears just lost a home game in the division in what figures to be a very tight division now..

"Down breaking bears news as Adam Schefter has told us that the bears will bring in Cordeiro Patterson for two years at five million dollars per season. So the bears have dramatically improved their kick return team a kick return team that was last in the NFL last year at nineteen point one yards per return. Yeah, I think a lot of people Jeff see that's three and went to the Pro Bowl as returner, and they don't look at both the kickoff. Returns in the punt returns. Three colon was fantastic. As a punt return in the kick return game. He wasn't as great when he was back there in the bears overall like you just sat on that stat. Knock good overall in in that put the offense a bad spot throughout the year. Put a young quarterback in tough spot having to go the distance many times with bad field position. Hopefully, this will help. Trubisky Nagy and the offense overall the bears are doing everything in their power. And this is good. They're doing everything in their power to put Mitchell Trubisky in the best possible position to succeed. It all still going to come down to his play. He's going to have to improve the level that he was at last year. But look the level that he played at last year was good enough to bring the bears. Granted I'll be granted riding shot car today elite defense, but it brought them to the playoffs and a a home playoff game at that. And so they're working around the edges here making the improvements that they can. And while again, we've been monitoring the levian bell situation, and we will continue to do. So all night, we'll talk with JJ stink of it's coming up at seven ten and the of Sports Illustrated will give us a national perspective at seven thirty five. So we will be all over this. But this is what you need to do. If you're in the bear situation, you need to make improvements wherever you can. And hope that the scouting you did to that that basically convinced you to draft Trubisky. You hope that pays off that plays out. Right. And the question we're asking you at three one two three three two three seven seven six. What's holding? Back the bears offense the options I put on Twitter at Chris black. The options are running backs the quarterback first year of Nagy system tight ends or you can tweet us others. Some of the others mentioned wide receivers. The offensive line special teams field position are right now leading the poll on my Twitter feed thirty seven percent going with first year of Nagy system. And that's what I would go with two. That's what's holding back. The bears is not that it's a bad system. It's just that. It's your one and they need time together into grow into develop. Share your thoughts with us. He's at Chris black on Twitter. I'm at Jeff underscore Meller. Three one two three three two three seven seven six.

"All right. Welcome back to our show. Do you have a question over there? Chris I got three option. What do you have for over there? You know, we're talking the Browns we can do most dysfunctional NFL team. It's kind of all right done about. Would you want to be James Harden's teammate? Or it's national peanut butter day. Okay. Now. Now, you're now you're talking my language you prefer creamier, crunchy. So that's kind of what I off the top of my head. Okay. We can get into SuperBowl self. We're still got we've got a whole week of shows up next week. Right. You wouldn't you wouldn't wanna be James Harden's teammate, probably not. But I mean, I guess I wouldn't have to work very hard. Nobody Gordon is having an off year Capellas hurt. Of course, Paul's just stand there for twenty two seconds. So all your job is to play defense, rich and we've met before I don't like to defend. So I'm just getting paid to stand. There crunchy or creamy. If you had to choose one. Crunchy guy. Are you really confront cheer now about now, you gotta have it with jelly, right? Yeah. Or just having plane toast gonna have peanut butter toast out of a Megan run joy sandwich cream. Maybe we go back to the drawing board jolt three of them are just not. They're not feeling it. I'm feeling James harden has zero assisted points in the last five. It's crazy. You know? Would you say about your Bisky again? I know you were talking about miles guy if you got Myles Garrett over Trubisky, and it was more of an indictment on not. No, I feel about mile scared. I see because again just think about troops Trubisky right now. It's amazing. How? The bears hired Nagy in a way because of what Sean McVay did in year two with golf, right? You're two hundred but your one for year one for McVeigh what he turned Goff into was remarkable. Just absolutely remarkable. And McVeigh was coach of the year and golf was tremendous. But they got one and done in the playoffs by a team that had lost in the Super Bowl the previous year in Atlanta. Right. The defending NFC champ came out here and beat them and often look all that great in the game. And just like both just like most first-time quarterbacks in the playoffs. Lost by the way, Mahomes. One is first career start everybody else that was going in their first career starting to playoffs lost this year, including Trubisky. It happens more often than on. I mean, Mahomes is the outlier of all the quarterbacks in this year's playoff field. The only ones to win their first career playoff starts out of all twelve those who had already previously made a playoff start to this year and those making their first career playoff starts this year in their first career playoff starts, the only ones in this year's field that won their first Mahomes. Russell Wilson Tom Brady. That's it. The other nine had lost the nine. So. Now. Here comes Nagy and Trubisky. Nagy may be the coach of the year next Saturday and a week from Saturday at the NFL honors Trubisky gets one and done by the team that won the NFC last year. Over they won the Super Bowl but represented the NFC in the Super Bowl the previous year. It's kind of the same thing. So why can't Trubisky Nagy with that defense with a little bit? Of addition like less need, adding keep to Leib did and Marcus Peters and indomitable sue and trading Dante Fowler in the middle of the season and paying whoever needs to get paid. He paid cooks he paid girly. He paid. Donald why can't the bears be next year's Rams? At this point last year. We're talking about golf well look at wins. He got hurt. But he was going to be the MVP and his team on the Super Bowl Wentz. Over golf a hundred times over one hundred s that question now. Not one hundred times over one hundred now. So let's that's why I get it truly is five years after you draft somebody avenue idea for poll now, okay? Based on this conversation quarterbacks the Browns passed on recent run, they drafted okay?.

You could technically throw them a homes in there because they didn't take Mahomes first overall, which would have been a stunner anyone. No one was taking correct. I overall, correct. And he would run away with the poll beat everyone of the punch telling you man, we're sitting there in Philadelphia for the draft chiefs of moved up two tenths overall. It was this Shawn Watson. And no here comes Mahomes, and we were all like, okay. What is Andy Reid know that we're not all talking about. Well, the answer is a lot. Cliff Kingsbury now has a job in part. Because of what Mahomes is done, and what McVeigh has done edit altogether together in cliff Kingsbury is your coach the Zona cardinals. Getting set to take Marie. I. Are you into that? "Interesting conversation like. Taxes taxes tend to. What good enough to win at the collegiate level. And oh, by the way, I know what everyone thought about Pat Mahomes, but he actually if you talk to some scouts, they'll tell you. He didn't do a very good job managing his his mechanics in his fundamentals. One of the reasons why he wasn't the top quarterback picked. And now he's the head coach. And he you know, what he made light it up and be the next best thing. Listen, it's better to me in the NFL. At least it's not the good old boy network. Yeah. That's why I hope Vic chance fixed never had a shot. As long as he's been around. He's never had a I mean malarkey had a spin Hasni or check has had a head coach to he has check as a head coach, Tennessee. Yeah. The malarkey Lanman check were both head coaches believe month. Check recently has been the offense online coach Pittsburgh. That is correct. With the Steelers right now. Yes, all fame. Yeah. Oh, yeah. A lot of times. Guys. Don't make good coaches, though, you know. Yeah. Almost very rarely. I'm with you. Good coaches. I don't know why. See how the leflore guy does. Everyone speaks highly of assault Trent Dilfer saying good things about him. Saw Dan Lord Lobski saying good things about him this morning. Patten? So. Yeah. Right. Mirror image of. Yeah. What we do here. They're trying. Exactly what the it's the Rams thing. I know they didn't wait Phelps already there. I think they brought the template the old guy who satisfied the be the DC. Wasn't there? An interesting. No, this wasn't there. An interesting article about how McVeigh sought out Sean McVeigh believe with either roommates are really good friends with Wade Phillips is son somewhere down the road. And so that's how he had the in with Wade Phillips. There's the connection. As we reflect more on the bare season. And we we we mentioned a few other times. It was a pipe dream to think that the bears could match with the Rams did a year ago when it was a year ago today the Nagy got hired. When we were talking about. Okay. Well, what's the plan going to be? This is a coach. He's only called plays for six games in Kansas City. Whatever wise are they gonna keep Fangio. And then will he make Trubisky into Goff? You know, like Aaron Donald Khalil Mack Gough Trubisky Nagy along with McVeigh Fangio. Wade Phillips twelve wins compared to whatever the Rams did the year before like it was it was improbable improbable. But they didn't they came pass. Virtually did it didn't they lose their first? Got bounced by Atlanta at home. So you're right. I mean, we kept saying well, hopefully Nagy's the right guy for the job. But they're not going to do with the Rams did they actually do. They did exactly what the Rams dead. How many games did the Rams win a year? I want to say eleven or twelve eleven, but I'd have to double check you could first home playoff. You could probably argue that Gough was little more consistent little better in his second year. The Mitch was but it's comparable. NFC rep in the Super Bowl from the year before it's it's virtually Atlanta Falcons word the rap. It's kind of. And they beat the Rams the Rams dead and got beat by the NFC rap from the Super Bowl that year. Kennedy Lincoln thing it's spooky speaking of templates, by the way, Sylvie sent a good story last night. Good halftime reading like you said. That's what I do. Yeah. I listened to imagine dragons play for a little bit. Imagine dragons, actually, it's okay. Like coldplay. That's fine. Whatever you. Coldplay thing from the movie. Yeah. Hopefully gets a bad rap because a forty year old pledge not that bad. No. I don't think you know, it got ruined. From a lot of screaming last night at the half time. Got ruined your movie sideways. I mean, the imagine dragging guy was just. Down. I know, but he could've. What he does. He just goes to my. That's what he does the microphone. That's all. He does. That's our. That's our. Of our team loser. But movies can ruin coal plant. But Sylvie said, hey, good halftime later. I don't either speaking of the template. It's the twenty year anniversary like in two weeks of the sopranos debut on HBO in David chase sat down the creator that sat down and did this long queue and with the New York Times. And I that's exactly what I did at halftime. I sat there and read it it was very show. Everything that's changed in TV in the last twenty years. His name David chase. David. Chase is a really salty guy really really salty. And he does not like talking about the final episode. You know, then any tried to like whether or not alive. Yes. Really dead life. He said he's done eighty some episodes. And all you guys wanna talk about the fade black episode about it. It's it's all about that. It's about what he was trying to create. He wanted to do a movie every week his goal was to create a he didn't even want to do a continuous storyline. Because he member the Russian. Yes, in the woods never came up. We never never thought. They knew he wanted to do more of those stories we're there was never a conclusion. But he he's co workers and writers and everyone else convincing dude you got to do a studio. Probably. Yeah. People want this, you know, but it was still groundbreaking and innovative. It might be the best show ever. It's a good read. It was in the in the New York Times eighty no. But he did reveal regret he's working on a prequel movie. That is going to be about member Christopher montesano, Michael imperial character. It's going to be about his dad in like that crew in. In the sixties in Newark that he is working on a movie called. I think it's called the saints of Newark that should come out in twenty twenty. And I would look forward to. Is he said? Fini were really at each other's throats. I the end of it. And indulge. David chased those two and that they were both done with Syria. Listen, if James Gandolfini would've lived right the day, probably never would have gone back. No movie nothing because he and Jimmy as he called him all the time. He said we were done. They just couldn't work together anymore. Well, it's like a great coach. And a great player me. It's like Brady and Bill. I don't know. I mean when you're that good for that many years in your yet. A lot of creative geniuses sort of butting heads. Sustain that. Oh, brilliant. But it's a good read. I'm glad Sylvie Senate. So check it out in the New York Times. I'm almost done with. I'm four episodes in to season five now of the wires. Episode laughing. I gotta do that. You gotta watch HBO groundbreaking shows sopranos the wire there. No, my wife's out of town at the end of this week. I'm going to watch all the rest of the Ozark at all. What's coming up? A lot of fallout from from bears, and what's the future? You know? What's Vic's feature? What's the bears? Featured. Do you believe the window is firmly open? I ask you guys this karma. I didn't ask you this here in cross I gave my top five Heartbreakers as a sports fan is this loss. Does this loss of your all time Heartbreakers now Waddell and your co played? So they they have different sort of heartbreaker. I didn't grow up here. So it could be it doesn't have to be Chicago for you. It could be Cincinnati related. But would lose into Montana. I mean, they lost twice twice this. That's a good question off the top of my head. Maybe I'm just too in the here. And now it would make the list of I think about it a little bit. But for a lottery. And they should have won for number. It's a forty three yard field goal. And it was such a likeable team. Like, it's just the Super Bowl was a possibility. It's up there. It's it was a magical season now. It's just over. Yup. I reveal my top five next. All right. Take a guess you want. Guess what's on my five? What do you believe is? I'm going to guess, I'm gonna guess Bartman has got to be in their game seven like the Mars. I'm also guessing Leon Durham in San Diego's on your list. If there's a senior bowl sort of made up for any tough loss with the nineties, but my guests might be trying to think if there's like. Player. You guys always talk about Karl needs. Would have a bull's loss on there because Michael Scottie sort of made up for all the ninety. So I don't know that there's a bulls loss. I know there's one in there. Oh, maybe the maybe the Gilbert arenas game you on there. In the first round of the playoffs. Don't know. You're such a crazy. You know? I think I was at the the the phantom call game at Madison. One hundred percent. Sure the date on. Yeah. We wrote to the game, and then limo my wife myself and Bill Romanowski his wife. Review my list next. You said limo, right? Peter Kenyon for Brian Urlacher who is the bears honorary captain and five our boys. Have a good show. Why don't Sylvie get your home next? We'll see tomorrow on ESPN thousand don't let the door hit you over the good Lord split your state to coup. People liked it. I don't think that's wack. I think that's dope..

"Straight talk. Brought to you by straight talk wireless. Best phones, best networks, no contracts. So what wins out tomorrow Jonathan the eagles experience or that great bears defense? I think that even in twenty nineteen you can look at a defense and fit strong enough. And if it's going to have to pay dividends for your football team. I still think that that matters. I think that when you have Khalil Mack, and you see how strong this defense has been from game one by the way because game one Chicago took on Green Bay and for a half. You saw how strong the bears defense could be again with Rogers that was in game one. But watch the Evan flow of the season and watch how the defense got better and better off all throughout the regular season to the point where now you're looking at a top five defense that was a top ten defense. I think last season, but now stepped up even more. So with Khalil Mack is is. Notes about offense in the NFL. But when you have different makers like Khalil Mack on that football team. I really believe that it bears defense can be able to get it done against the eagles Khalil Mack. Akiem Hicks is a Pro Bowl or this year. Kyle fuller made the Pro Bowl for the first time in his career with seven interceptions. Eddie Jackson Jonathan is a Pro Bowl and all pro now he's questionable with a foot injury. A very ankle injury. He was limited and Wednesday and Thursday and Friday did not practice Wednesday. We do not taught them we did the old stakeout by the locker fifty minutes. No dice cannot come out said. Nope. Tell them not talking. So I can't tell you how he feels right now bracket tell you that they need him on that field. They want him out there. He's a huge playmaker. And the bears have done such a great job of not giving up those deep balls over the top of the defense. I'm sure Nick foles like test them tomorrow, Al Sean, Jeffrey can go deep with the best of them. What if Eddie? Jackson is limited or for whatever reason unavailable that would be a big loss for the bears defensively. Even though they have as you said, so many other great pieces around him. From the offensive side of things from the eagles would Nick foles. It's not all smoke and mirrors. But there are some magic to Nick foles. That's for sure. And the thing that really is the hallmark of what he does offensively is that he gets the ball out quickly. So the best quarterbacks we see in the NFL now are able to get the ball out in two seconds or less and folds definitely big on that. I think that when he has someone like alshon Jeffery and go-to whether it's Zach urge as a tight end he can really be able to move the chains ostensibly and we saw that with his eagles team. I. I think that for those who have not seen Chicago Chicago's not a team that's going to dial up the blitz on a whole bunch. They just seem to get home because their dominant on the defensive line. It's not a team. That's just going out and trying to knock the head off the quarterback every single time. So when it comes to blitzing Nick foles completed seventy nine percent of his passes with four touchdowns, which is great. So we not percent of his passes, which is tremendous. So maybe the bears backing coverage kind of wait for Folsom make mistakes more. So than trying to you know, try to knock his head off and try to blitz all the time. I don't see that from Vic Fangio's defense in this game. Now, typically, they send only four and they get home though, because well when he sent well Khalil Mack is like sending to you know, he's he's not only is he going after two guys. He's pretty much knocking them down, by the way. I should point this out still twenty one seven Indianapolis. I believe the Texans just turned it over on downs to Shawn Watson, his really struggled. On this last Texans drive, which is over. He has missed the Mark on several passes off his balls are in the turf low. He was almost picked off on third down. So there's four nine left to go in Houston. And I gotta think Jonathan that was the Texans best chance through they get themselves back in their down to scores were just four zero nine left to play. We'll have our post game discussion about is as Jeff we'll talk about the great job that Bill Brian has done as head coach of the Houston, Texas. That's still to come here. Dickerson. Her jeff. Is if the quarterback wasn't throwing the ball to the ground, but they have a better chance to win. Oh, look at that. Look at that still turn Shawn Watson that you'll turn on the great to Shawn Watson. That's funny earlier you're giving him high praise talking about all the numbers that he had out there. You know, we were talking about the four thousand yards passing the five hundred yards rushing the two hundred seven straight passes. Well interception. All that. From the Shawn Watson, the now you turn heel on the man. So again, anything to not bash Bill all right now as far as this game's concerned, the number is still the same. Jeff says that the bears are six and a half point favorites. It's the biggest number of the NFL playoffs this weekend. I think that number is a little misleading. I don't see Chicago even at home being able to have seven or more points. And being a favourite over Philadelphia because eagles say about it. I believe I agree. Now, the good thing for Chicago is that all three of their injured wide receivers had full participation all week in practice. So Allen Robinson Taylor Gabriel. Anthony Miller all good to go. And I do believe for the bears to keep moving out in the playoffs. The good half the have a nice ground game at some point and Jordan Howard for whatever faulty may have hit a good game against Minnesota in week seventeen. He's running the ball better. Wouldn't you say in the last few weeks a little more zest in those runs? He's finishing off run stronger. I think the bears do have a lot going in their favor here. But look Chicago has been in the playoffs for eight years. The eagles won the Super Bowl last year. So if you can guarantee me, you know, for sure how the bears are gonna play tomorrow. I'm gonna call you liar. Because you don't know because they have no one's seen them in this situation before that's right in a long time. And this is. Trubisky's first playoff start and judging by how the Shawn Watson look today in his first playoff start, not going to be easy, not going to be easy for Trubisky. Interested in seeing how the eagles defense is going to play against Chicago offense line, again, something very uncertain in Chicago's off into blind. Giving Trubisky a lot of time to either run or be able to pass. So I'll see how the eagles played because the eagles were the only team that had four players at least forty pressures this season. Just a number that stands out to me is as far as how they're able to flourish out defensively. So that's gonna be an interesting match up as well. I want to point something about Matt Nagy to the head coach for Chicago. Because as we take a look at a lot of these coaches that bring in an offense a playbook voluminous offensive playbook and trying to work with young quarterbacks. Along the way there's been some steaks made by Nagy, and it's almost like Trubisky Nagy are tied together at the hip in which Trubisky will make some mistakes. So the show so will Nagy as well. A couple of examples of that of of him just trying to understand Chicago. For instance, Cody parkey, which is a story line. We should talk about Jeff. While we have the mics special teams as a question Mark for Chicago. Because of how spotty Cody parkey the kicker is for this team. I remember Nagy saying there's no need for Cody parkey to go to Soldier Field to be able to get better with this kicks because the winds are the same at their practice facility is in Chicago. That's not the case if you know anything about Chicago, there are different wind patterns. And so the next day you saw Cody parkey by himself out there. Trying to learn you know, how to kick the football at Soldier Field. So there's some things are learning curve for Nagy same thing with Trubisky as they both learn one another and learn the bears. Yeah. The kickers miss ten kicks this year for Chicago. This would be the.

"Afternoons from two to six on ESPN, Chicago. Now, you just saying you wanna have fun. Well yesterday was fine for a time a lead and like mid third quarter that game was tied bowl. It was entertaining. I mean, I don't know if that's counts as fun, but all of these games for the most part, even the ones they've lost have been entertaining thing about what they've lost. They lost giving him twenty one points in the opening game of the season in the fourth quarter. They lost in that that Miami game. I don't know if it was fun. But it was entertaining. And then yesterday that was it entertaining game. Yeah, they're three and three. Now, they've got the jets in bills coming up. I've got the list of things that irked me the most. And why there's a lot to be critical of there's things to be positive about again. Like sometimes people misinterpret when we're breaking things down in the singular game that were not necessarily positive about the future. But I think you can be both of that was my point earlier about the quarterback. I don't agree with that. I like Matt Nagy ton. I don't agree with what he said about his quarterback. Now, I've yet to look at the all twenty two I'll try to get it tomorrow. But when you miss several deep throws a couple of times, you know, the balls were thrown perfectly Taylor. Gabriel. A week before some of them were thrown out of bounds. Right. When you miss Anthony Miller for touchdown twice slice. It's okay. That that I sit here and tell you that. He was in accurate and needs to make those throws. And also tell you that I'm being patient with the guy, and he's only had six starts this year. Eighteen starts in the NFL. He's still learning his way through the through right? The right way to do things in the NFL level. So I'm preaching patients. But also pointing out mistakes that are obvious mistakes that need to be cleaned up going forward. A lot of people are playing the numbers game. Saying look at his numbers on paper credit cap this morning. I heard cap who's been really a backer of Trubisky Nagy and pays who said look first of all take away. The hail Mary because that fifty seven yard completion is really not nothing within the game plan the Torri Cohn at the end of the half. And I want to get to the Nagy's explanation of that was really a garbage twenty patter. Yeah. Exactly. Exactly. Now, he's at two sixty passing or to sixty five the runs world actor. And those should bring you out of your seat. But I would suggest use the eye test versus using the stat test. Yeah. So this is Matt Nagy at the end of the half. This guy. Got me mad again. A lot of people say last year's Kansas City game where the chiefs scored a touchdown at the end of a half using tyreek hill. Now throwing a hail Mary. But he beat the Dallas defense Nagy talked about why the bears at the New England forty so just forty yards away from the goal line to not go for the hell Mary at the end of the half. Typically, what you hope for their some way. And I've seen it happen. A few times is you're a little bit further out. I think I don't know how close it was versus our last play the game where we missed it by yard or two. But sometimes what can happen is yet up. Seeing you get you don't have a sack quarterback gets hurt type fumble and a half where a bad play becomes worse. But it's been done where a guy catches the ball underneath. And either runs it in for a touchdown. Or there's a face mask by the defense. And now there's a penalty and there's a free play to kick a field goal. So that's kind of the mindset behind some of that. And and there's each games a little bit different. We just felt like at that point. Time. We we're a little little far out to test. The the at the end of the game type throw. Yeah. Good forty you pointed out earlier. Yeah. So I give him a pass at that point. Because his head spinning with all the information of the game. He's calling plays. But I sure hope in the moment, he didn't think. Hey, let's run. Let's throw it to to recount because we're too far out like a head coach should know. Hey, we're only forty yards from the end zone. Actually a lot of people thought maybe they even try seven yard field goal. Right hot. How 'bout also? I would like to know how many times when you take that path versus the hail Mary which everyone thinks they hail Mary never hits. How often does this one? You gave me the the the one that you are a part of with the Kansas City Chiefs. But how many times does it team take this route and actually find success versus the hail Mary and you could easily draw penalty with the helm areas. Much pass interference. Yeah. This is then today, so he's a chance to watch the film. He was a little more forgiving for those. Who wanted the hell Mary today after sorta taking it all in a couple of things you could try the same play that we did at the end of the game. We do studies now off-season studies, and we look at different scenarios and see different things that can happen. Yeah. There's a lot of times where no situations when you do that all of a sudden the quarterback dropping back. He's running around and there's a freak sack. All of a sudden a guy gets hurt or there's just a, you know, it's it ends up. Nothing happening. You know? So but we've also done studies like I said yesterday where guy catches in easy pass. And it goes ahead and and runs and we've seen work. There's been face mask or certain tackles where there's benefits now you get a field goal. So they're six to one half dozen the other you wouldn't have been real we I wouldn't have been wronged by throwing it into the end zone. I don't think either one is wrong in that scenario different at the end of the game. Dallas you hit one. Similar situation. There was yeah. Yeah. It was similar now. If you go back and look at Dallas's defense last year versus the defense we saw at the end of the half yesterday. It was different. So they had a guy kinda hanging over the middle. And that's why Tariq had to you had to kind of try to run around him and nothing happened. So it was one of the few things that greenie was really ranting on this morning on get up. He he did not understand for the life. I don't either just like we did why you don't throw it to the end zone. Before half. That's the most likely success, especially where you have Kevin white guy who couldn't win some jump balls in from other dot, listen. They said they've done the studies. I am not saying this to be a wise guy. I'd like to see the studies where in a similar situation on the opponent's forty on the last play you throw a ball short. And it ends up. You get a field goal because of penalty versus how many times you actually hit on a hail Mary in that situation. So greenie joins us. Now, they spent a lot of time today on get up on the bears patriots game and the bears have the jets in their next game. So that should be a lot of fun greeting joining waddling Sylvianne ESPN one thousand what's up. Greenie. I've done the study and it scientifically concludes that that was the dumbest play call. That was the most ridiculous thing I've ever seen in my entire life. And I just was able to hear just the very end of that explanation. And I want you to have to redo it again for your audience that is hurt. But it's just it's ridiculous. Things you can do on those plays. You can try one of those crazy lateral things that basically never works or you throw the damn ball in the end zone. And you see what happens what they did made no sense whatsoever. I think we we are unanimous in feeling the same way or you know, what I know that Cody parkey isn't very likely to hit a fifty seven yarder. But you could least try that as well. What they chose. I didn't. I don't know what studies he's referencing grainy. But I like I said just from curiosities point of view. I'd like to see him. Yeah. Whatever. Whatever book you read back in. I would recommend getting a different book one or the other points that you we played it earlier today greeting for audience, and we'll play down a little bit for those are just getting into their car wrecks Ryan was critical of Vic Fangio and the approach the bears took and we read some of the numbers if you could believe this greening Khalil Mack was in coverage more than he rushed the passer in yesterday's. Game. Yeah. You know, wretches so good with that stuff. And he genuinely is a brilliant defensive mind decreasingly defensive league. And for those who didn't get a chance to hear to paraphrase, the basic point he was making his people stopping rushing Tom Brady because they figure it's got to get rid of the ball quickly enough that you were better off trying to play coverage entered his Rex's, fervent beliefs that what you have to do is you have to make Grady uncomfortable. You have to move him office spot. Even if you are isn't alternately going to lead to a sack or even hitting him. You have to take them out of the timing and rhythm of what they are doing and in a game or rob gronkowski was not playing to to not take more opportunity more risk and going after the quarterback. He saw was a mistake. I'll say this watching that game has to give up two touchdowns on special teams. So the I did not think the bears defense while they didn't have a great day. Every time Brady has made a lot of people. Look a lot worse than he made the bears. Look. Yes. So I thought that was a great game. And I thought that all things considered at this stage of the bears development. Go toe to toe with the patriots and a game in which you allow fourteen points on special teams. I didn't think that was a disaster the week before in Miami. And there was another one. Where wreck said that that is the most underrated home field advantage in the sports. But but Miami on a hot day the bear defense wilted. But that was the flippable loss to me losing to New England yesterday. I don't think there's a lot of shame. What do you think of the two young quarterbacks that will square off this week? And what have you seen in Mitchell Trubisky that you like or don't like in this? Same question for Sam darnold. Well, I can give you a full report on darnold entre. Bisky? Of course, you guys see every snap. And and so I would I would defer to you what I what I have seen my impression from from watching as I do is that you're seeing like a bit of inconsistency. That is probably to be expected in a young quarterback improvement significant improvement for a year ago. He runs with the ball better candidly than I realized that he could. And I think that one of the things that he's going to have right now from a national perspective. And I'm curious how much of a conversation. This is daily on a show. Like, you guys have is look it's not his fault that Patrick Mahomes and Shawn Watson were drafted after him. Right. But you know, you're moved up with to take him and draft where Watson and Mahomes. We're still available that that isn't Trubisky, and it isn't reasonable to put that into the evaluation of him on him that that is that is the responsibility of whoever made that decision..

"Tommy, the bears had the by and yet somehow they still made it into my top five power rankings. So clearly they week where are we in the expectations now for this team having seen what we saw before the bye week with the offensive explosion from Trubisky, Nagy and company. Well, first of all we live in the moment. Right. So I don't blame you for having the bears and you top five at this point. Maybe next week if they come to south Florida and don't play as well and leave with a loss. Maybe they won't be in your top. I guess they won't be. It's just we live in the moment. I think the by kind of enhanced the you know, the legend that is the new wage bears. Certainly I heard Trey Burton say after they beat Tampa Bay that the by was coming at exactly the worst possible time. I get what he's saying you want to build on the momentum of the drubbing of the buccaneers. This team's been remarkably healthy as well. So maybe you could use an off week later in the season of some injuries arise. But well, my expectation level has certainly risen and Mitch. I don't expect Mitchell to be perfect every Sunday. I don't expect six touchdowns. No interceptions and three hundred fifty yards stuff can happen. But Mitchell Trubisky can play it A B B minus level for the course of the regular season. This is a bears team that should win a playoff game. That's how good their defenses. That's how much they've upgraded talent in that offensive huddle. I think it still all comes down to the quarterback. I love what the coach is doing. I think it's a perfect marriage between Matt Nagy Mitchell Trubisky Mitch still suffers from some inexperienced. But what he did two Sundays ago against the buccaneers was made all we'll be appropriate throws. His accuracy was significantly better. And he doesn't have to be perfect guys. He just has to continue to improve. And if he does that and they take some of the pressure off that defense and the offense carries its weight. I don't think people are gonna wanna see this bears team. Pull into town. Another big game coming up this weekend. Kansas City going to New England. We saw how well that actually worked for Kansas City opening week last year. Alex Smith did in New England. Now, you have no he's not a rookie and Patrick Mahomes. But his first year starting Mahomes looks fantastic. Well last week Patrick Mahomes last week two hundred eight quarterback of all time Pano touchdowns still playing extremely wet. How do you see that matchup this time around? I would ride with the the New England Patriots. Just based on the fact that we've seen this this movie before I'd Meyer the hell out of what the Kansas City. Chiefs are doing obviously on offense and defensively they they really elevated their game against the Jags. Now, there will be some out there that aren't big fans of Blake Bortles and say he played a huge role in that. And that may be partially true. But look to me the New England Patriots of the king of the AFC until proven otherwise. Correct. I think what's really interesting guys is going forward with all these dynamic offenses whether it's the chiefs or it's the Rams or it's the Chicago Bears Howard team's going to adjust to what they're seeing now because it always takes a few weeks. For teams to kind of digest what they're seeing in change their game plan. So I'm interested to see what Bill Belichick has in store for more homes in that explosive Kansas City offense what I'd be shocked with the chiefs went to Foxborough and came away winners. No, I wouldn't. But Conversely, I wouldn't be surprised at all if the patriots held serve but Tommy as we're talking to Tom Waddell of ESPN one thousand Waddle and Silvy in Chicago, I know it's only week six this is kind of a big deal in terms of positioning because should Kansas City win, which by the way, they did a year ago week one with Alex Smith, not with Patrick Mahomes, running the show pretty handily in that game. And they have all those same weapons. They're not only do they are they up three games on the race for home-field advantage in the AFC. They also have the tiebreaker. So essentially, it's a four game lead. If Kansas City somehow finds a way to win in Foxborough for a second straight year and the patriots. I don't think have one in Kansas City. In any way, shape or form since two thousand four trae for all of those reasons that's why I expected New England Patriots to be at the top of their game. Are they going to be the same team this week that they will be in week ten twelve or fourteen maybe not? But I believe they understand the sense of urgency. They understand what's at stake even early in the season as you described. So look at some point there will be changing of the guard. I'm just going to be one of these guys that gets on that bus later rather than early. And my expectation is is chiefs are going to give the patriots all they want. But you know, as I if I was to pick this game. I would I would still ride with the patriots at home with no disrespect meant to Andy Reid. Patrick, Mahomes or anybody wearing a Cheech uniform. Well, as we always say when you say, no disrespect you always follow. And that's just the way it goes on while joining us Waddle and Silvy ESPN one thousand again, six years in the NFL soul going back to that locker room, Tom. What do you make of kind of the extended talk? It's still going on in that giant locker room. You know? It's funny. My ultimate limits litmus test in all of sports is the juice worth the squeeze. And in the case of Odell Beckham junior to me the juices worth the squeeze because he's a dynamic player. He's young. He's a top three or four receiver in the National Football League. You know, what you're gonna get. I mean, I the there's two sides of this discussion people outside the locker room, Mike and trae they they're they're high five, and listen, we ask our athletes questions, we want honest answers, and the guys inside that locker room, we're going why are you doing this to us? We don't need this hassle. We are already behind the eight ball with how we're playing what what what kind of rings false to me is anytime a guy tries to hide selfishness behind the plead for selflessness. And by that, I mean, he tells you he wants it. He you know, he wants to football five times a quarter. He should be scoring a touchdown every quarter. But then references because I wanna win for the team. Well, I guess you can draw a line between the two, but for me, it's not a straight line. So and and I'm fine with him as all receivers are in most cases, selfish players, and I know that when he plays. Well, it helps his team, but I don't draw the straight line between him being selfish and him being selfless. And only wanting what's best for the team. I look it's been around for decades. Mike you've been inside those locker rooms these situations are never good for any team. I don't care what anybody says, there's no doubt. They're they're not good for any team though. It does see in this day and age sometimes it's accepted a little more. In this weird thing Tommy does seem like the entire locker room is behind Odell on this. And we'll actually get into that a little bit more than later. Tommy, we appreciate you being with us. We are going to be on the road this week. Brought to you by insurance cars homes boats, motorcycles, arby's and more at Progresive dot com. We will see you on the road at Austin's Libertyville, Illinois on Friday. I look forward to guys. I talk to you soon. He got up coming up. We'll talk more about this. Because it does seem like it's a new normal in the NFL, which is making us old guys you at cliff. Oh, yeah. Gotta be on your toes. Young whippersnapper making us old guys. Rethink the.

"Day. Day. Pro football talk live, and it is draft time inspired by the performances we've seen a quarterback this year from young guys like Patrick Mahomes in Jared Goff, today's subject the quarterback. Coach combination built to last with the parent third parenthetical or parenthetical explanation. It'll still be kicking in five years. I didn't realize that that that that extra bit had been put on there. But nevertheless, we can make that work coach quarterback Kabo built to last for at least five years. Peter you get the honors call the the virtual coin in the air. Please. Tails? Boy, that's just tales that takes Chris Simms. Thirty seconds to call. The coin. I can't see the coin because I'm not getting return. What was it? It's heads. It's had I. All right. And I win that means I win this draft. Because there is only one choice to make the most obvious choice. The youngest coach in the league with a quarterback in his third year. Sean McVay Jared Goff together in Los Angeles. With the Rams for the next fifteen years at a minimum. That one is the easy when it is built to last it will last the only question is how much money is Jared Goff gonna command when it's time to pay him his second contract and his third and his fourth. I'll take Patrick Mahomes in the Andy Reid. This is a distant second. Even an idiot like stats will be able to judge this race fairly because win. I throw the towel in. It's all over. But I do believe Andy Reid will be coaching in five years therefore air. Go mahomes. Read see there's a next level way to take that one though Peter you could've gone Eric b enemy and Patrick Mahomes. Because I think if the chiefs win a Super Bowl in the next five years, Andy Reid walks away and hands the baton to be enemy the guy who is most responsible for this version of the west coast offense that that features more North Pole than west coast. And the players have been raving about him. He may not be there long enough to take over for Andy Reid, but it could be the enemy and Mahomes is the two who are joined at the hip going forward because let's say they win it this year. Would it surprise you? If they win it this year fatty, ROY. It says that's it. I'm done. I've achieved everything I wanted to achieve. I'm moving on. It would surprise me. But Mike the one thing I would tell you is do not sleep on the enemy. Yes. Very good. Very good. When you have the joke stinks. I got it. No. It's okay. The the Andy Reid coaching tree. Doug Peterson Super Bowl ring. Matt Nagy his team's going to be a contender be enemy. If he gets a head coaching job next year and the way this team is going. He's going to be on the list, especially when you look at Nagy and Peterson have done they're gonna all have Super Bowl rings except for Andy Reid. But I think if Andy Reid hangs around the cheese for at least five years or fewer he'll end up with a ring of his own. Alright Onda round two. This is where it gets a little more challenging here because I'm tempted to go the aforementioned Trubisky Nagy, that's the way to go. But I'm gonna go with Peterson instead because Doug Peterson. And Carson Wentz. They're going to be together for a long time. Peterson got his Super Bowl ring. So he's got job security in Philadelphia whence, his guy even with the tornado Seattle. He's looking like he's a guy who's getting back to where he was. I like Winston Peterson to be together for a long time in Philadelphia. Peter. I would go with Nagy for Bisky. If I didn't absolutely love the play calling ability and potential of Kyle Shanahan and Jimmy Garoppolo. If we're talking five years from now in my opinion, Jimmy Garoppolo is going to be a top three quarterback in the NFL. Kyle Shanahan is going to be a top three coach that's a gutsy call when you consider the quarterback has blown out and he's not playing at all this year. Mike ice specialize in the gutsy call. Frank Reich, is are you Mike variable or your Frank Reich? I'm definitely Frank Reich. All right. Speaking of for, you know, and I thought about I thought about both Reich and Rabo, but you've left you've left Bisky on the board. So I guess I have to go Trubisky nag, even though at times, I wonder whether or not Mitchell Trubisky is the guy that Nagy wants. I think they're going to work together. And he looked great this past weekend. Six touchdown passes against an overmatched buccaneers defense. But there are plenty of Overmach defenses right now in the NFL other than the ravens whose really playing great defense. So give me Trubisky Nagy and the bears is this possibly their first franchise quarterback since said Lachmann. Yes. I think he will be Mike. Do I have one pick left? Yeah. Pick left I'm taking Pat Shurmur and just in Herbert. Wow. That's bold. Peter he's in that is that fair guys. Not even in the NFL yet. It's okay. I'll take Justin Herbert because I think he's going to be the first pick in the draft next year. And I think the giants are going to find some way somehow to get said first pick in the draft and take their quarterback to succeed. Eli manning. You know, it's pronounced a bear its belt. Herbert..

"This. The next week's the bye week. I four I don't have to come down here in the marathon and walk two miles. You're right out here talking. No doubt bless talking baseball playoffs. And hopefully cubs are involved in them. It's still at that point. Well, they got the wildcard saints. You may do what I take heart. Cub fans. How many years did you have to live in? No playoffs at all. And now, they're all bitching about all. That you're in the playoffs Zell plot heart. They're playing this afternoon to to twenty all the teams in baseball playing at the same time this afternoon. And then if there's still ties because there's a tie in the National League West with the dodgers and the Rockies there's a tie in the National League central with the cubs and the brewers if they remain tied tomorrow there's two more game one sixty three's. And then the National League wild card game is Tuesday. So two of those teams if that all plays out two of those teams to play on Tuesday to try to get it to the division series win or the cubs gonna play that tiebreak tiebreaker with Milwaukee because that's going to happen. It'd be it'd be tomorrow tomorrow at either three o'clock if it's the only game or noon, if there are two two years, so I'll tell you this. Who'd you take in the playoffs. The brewers are on. On the upswing here and the cubs kinda faltering. I don't care who gets into the playoffs. Who would you pick to go on to the next series? It's tough because no hidden and their their bullpen doing. Well. And they got this this guy, you know, you look at it. And the way that they've Christian yelich and heavy buys have been battling for the Christian yelich. Just this week two homers on Friday night. He had a game winning Homer last night. And. Forty five thousand never ceases to amaze me in that baseball playoff. It's the it's a team that's on the rise. And usually wildcard team you'll walk Khartoum's wounds just as many World Series. There's a division winner. Yeah. You can do that. Because you're you know, you're playing good ball to the play offs. Yep. The other thing too. Is you look at it. And this goes to show you there's one hundred and sixty two games in baseball. And the next time when it comes down to one game the next time. I hear someone say in April. Well, that's okay. It's early or in may, that's okay. It's early. No, no, no. Every single game means something, and I've heard so many people say, well, you know, you can lose a game here and there. No, you can't you can't lose a game here and there because you do you end up like this time hundred sixty second day of a game of the season being tied with another team. And you want to win. You wanna be Boston? You win every damn game with one hundred and seven games, and then you're pretty much safe. So we'll see what happens today at two thousand colors and the cardinals cardinals guy eliminated yesterday. So they're not the last couple of days. They still had something to play for. They got an A play for the good ole ozzy's white socks. They blew that out. And then pictures were. Oh my goodness. I all through shutouts. That's. Gain four complete games. Championship. You gotta play that tiebreaker screws up your whole rotation for the next series. Yeah. It does the one thing is if they have to play the tiebreaker against the brewers they can have Jose cantata whose pitch really well against Milwaukee. So he could pitch in that game tomorrow. I'm still a fan of his Archer. I try, but you know, it's not easy. Sometimes jose's. We give it up at times. He went to the cubs and stole money. Take hard. You ought to be happy. All the White Sox traded over the White Sox. Got some really good pass break. So we'll be seeing it for years and years. It's just like what makes fans happy when I said, well, I was no good. No more went out to Green Bay. So I stole their money whipped him again. Sure. Yeah. They were Darvish. Yup. Joe where opposite of what he came here and put in place didn't he I mean, that's why they lost for years. They're going to go. Oh, he played great somewhere. Now come here. Well, he's already through his careers down. Farm system in new pitchers that Tim banners. They never seen him straggling him out. Yeah. Yeah. Dara's should baseball. Divers chat would. Yeah. Didn't do the job and blocked played. No more. No. Talking about footballs gone. You can't take e can't guide. Second base come on the dead Orlovsky guy that played in the National Football League. Usually as a backup quarterback around the league. But then he decided, you know, what I'm tired of getting hit making money. I'm going to go talk about the game. He works ESPN. Now, he's going to join Kaplan, David Kaplan and Kaplan company on a weekly basis he was on earlier this week. And he said you nailed it. He said as a former quarterback he's still optimistic about Mitchell Trubisky. I'm still very high on him. And a lot of the reasons our because of the pieces that they brought in this off season. Like everybody knows. You know, I think the thing that's getting lost a lot with Mitchell Trubisky is essentially a rookie all over again. And you have to take away last year because of what was around him in the archaic aspect of his offense. And just throw it away never happened. And so he's really really games into his NFL career handling and intricate offense. When you watch him on tape the biggest thing for me is he has moments where it looks like he doesn't trust stuff. That's happening. And when you're in this moment of learning a new offense learning terminology learning the information that you're getting at the line of scrimmage and your teammates. And worshiped you read go and whatnot. What you're trying to see it could cause you to be a little tentative and not trusted at time. And so that's going through that process of can he truly trust all the unique things that this offense of Matt Nagy springs is bringing to the table. Can you trust all of the information? Nation. He's getting at the line of scrimmage, whether it's man whether it's own all the little details. And sometimes he just needs to take a deep breath and just believe that the play as simple as it may seem is going to be fine. Now, the one thing Orlovsky knows a little bit about learning new offenses because he played for Detroit. Houston Indianapolis, Tampa. And the Detroit again so played for five teams. And I take the word for of a guy that played quarterback as opposed to all the fans that are criticizing Trubisky saying, well, he should know the system by now he's played it. He played the fall three games in. Sylvie. And this little guy going look at that. They have matching vessel. You come a long way. Come a long way, brother. Orlovsky I credited him because and hopefully the bears fans will listen, and you've mentioned it a couple times. Trusting? Yeah. That hesitation is what I'm talking about. It's so difficult for quarterbacks. It's not like you change the system and all of a sudden, okay? Here's a new system. We'll put it in. We'll run next week. Now homes all year last year sat behind Alex Smith, Alex Smith, may or may not have taught him anything. But but Patrick Mahomes was there every single day learning that offense or he was there in practice. Torching that defense and Alex Smith wasn't doing it. You understand Fred? I can imagine indices practices last year because he's a secretary and quarterback. So he's running the dummy. Plays defense. I. Monday morning meetings. He'd done more against that defense in practice than the starting quarterback from the other team, you better believe. Yeah. There's no doubt home. Calle thirteen touchdowns. I want to talk about your Bisky and this Orlovsky saying he don't trust the system who are you not trust? What the head coach and coordinator doubt enough for you to do. I think you know, more than them. The only thing is I think he may have used trust the wrong way. I think he meant when he said trust. I thought he meant that. He's not he doesn't trust that. He knows it. Well enough. We're all supposed to be what the blur. He's seeing out there. Fred he doesn't trust. He he's able to throw that ball on timing before that bore of a defensive back gets there. Right. That's what the, you know. The rhythm and timing. Entrust not to play calling not not him. I am thinking his ability and good enough. He doesn't trust where he's going to throw the ball. The defensive back ain't gonna catch up to it. He doesn't know that yet. Now, we heard from dinner Lobski guy that played quarterback in the NFL. Okay. Charles Davis is a football analyst for FOX. Okay. Yeah. And he he has you play played in college you defensive back for the Tennessee volunteers was undrafted in the eighty seven draft earned his master's degree law degree, all that kind of stuff. He was also a lawyer while he was also bottom. Feeder also with David Kaplan, and he talked about the struggles of one Mitchell Trubisky Nagy offense is much more geared towards what he did in college. Then then obviously what he ran with John FOX dialogue is that crew? So that foot work those mechanics. Should be a little bit more muscle memory. You know that that's more. What you were used to doing. Very smart crew between heaven Marquel fridge. I think some of these still the adjustment to the NFL game. He has the right to tell me I'm wrong because he actually played a position yet. I fell I don't totally buy that you throughout the entire year. It's still NFL football. Right. It's still experiences. It's still pass. Russia's still all those things that go into it. The footwork and learning it under that. That's why I have a little bit of skepticism in terms of that being the issue. I still think it caters more to what he did before. But here's the thing we have to keep coming back to and it's hard to do. I need to number two pick in the draft thirteen starts in college. So he's still grown. Glad he brought it to that getting stat. Think about guys who came into the league. And the Shawn Watson team may be only three right now. He put up a nice performance. How many stars? Did he have in college? And played in two national championship games. Yep. Those types of experiences that go along with it. If you built ourselves quarterback formula. He didn't want a guy who had less than twenty five starts at college at cetera et cetera et cetera. I don't totally adhere to that. But I think that there's a good basis for it. And we just have to keep remembered that was Mitchell Trubisky saw originally sue was critical saying that he should have learned some of those things he did last year should have helped him. But then also he gave them kudos saying he did to play only thirteen. College with the other guys have done he countered himself when he said, well, this is the offense running college. Listen Charlie here early run that offense one year too. Yeah. Exactly. So really he ain't even had two years of experience in any offense. Not at all. Then, you know, it takes at least three years for something to jail baby. I got some numbers from Trubisky in his first three games this year in his first three games with Dowell loggains offense lash, we'll talk about that also bold predictions. When we come back. Steve McMichael me. I'm Fred Hubner. We're here till noon on ESPN prediction for you. I'm going to be a mongo's for the game about that prediction gold right out there. Ville can't miss it. "You see how that game ended which one the chiefs the patriots game? No. That's all right. The Texans game. The. Oh, no, no, no. I liked the Texans in that one verse the titans and so the titans win that game the taxes of crazy fake punt earlier in the game was in that game. Texans had the ball fifteen seconds to go. This was the dishonest scrambling scrambling screaming and scrambling scrambling scrambling by the time he lets the ball. Go throws it over the middle. Do the hockey games? Only. Fifteen seconds should be able to get at least two plays off gets one game. Oh. Bisky over him. I look at the end of the day. I do get it. I'm one of those people that watches and says why why pace Mahomes is clearly this isn't just a two game winner. This guy's going to be great. But again, it's two games. What thirteen for Trubisky though. So far, I think we're thirteen. I'm not I'm not wowed. I see more negative than I do positive. But again, it's so early in the guy's career. You can't fully make a judgment. However, you can look at Mahomes at say, it looks great. Balls came out and said it will take him one hundred games to determine if Sam darnold to franchise. He's saying that now, but you see the reception for Sam darnold and game one. They weren't saying. That's when he came back down to reality game to look that that is applicable in some scenarios. I don't think it takes that many games to watch some guys. Okay. This guy's you think Joe Montana took one hundred games for them to decide who Joe Montana was no doubt. By the end. You're Tom three or four months. Maybe it took one hundred games set aside. And then on his one hundredth he became a pretty good player. Certain guys. It's just you can tell right away. And unfortunately, Mitch is not that guy. You can tell right away green. He's going to be great in that should be a frustration within itself. I to the phones we go, and let's go to George the Greek injustice, Georgia. Good morning, gentlemen. Great show is usual. Thank you. Gordon Murray and Jaguars. Foot off the gas pedal at halftime, Tony Romo was even surprised. I was watching the game. And he was surprised they were thrown in the second half the bears have to slow down if they're scoring keep scoring and my second point. You can't compare crip isky. The Mahomes Mahomes was thrown into this offense. That's ready made you got home grand there. Everything's all set in Chicago were waiting growing with the team. You know, everything's. Not holmgren. Andy reid. It's actually pretty funny. Yeah. You got. Trubisky. You saw the first quote unquote scripted plays the bears head against the Packers. Her Bisky, look great. I think as the season goes on you'll see him grow. And I think you'll be better quarterback. All right. We'll see Georgia. Thanks for the call, man. Appreciate it. Three one two three three two three seven seven six Bill in Montgomery Bill. What's up kid? What you forgot the I highlight of the weekend. Ryan Fitzpatrick south at the press spectacular. The lead story the best part of it all was so he takes this Sean Jackson's close out of his locker and puts them on without telling him, and then to Sean walks into the media conference and is not wearing a shirt and says, hey, dude, I need my clothes back. Great. I couldn't be more excited for Fitzpatrick to hopefully steel that job from James Woodson actually actively rooting for that to Bill. Okay. Well, you know, I understand we gave up our bears tickets were so frustrated, but Mahomes, how long has he been in that system? Two years. Trubisky stirred offense coordinator in three years. You gotta give them a little bit of time before you start pronouncing it dead in the water. I'm not pronouncing him dead. That's to cap. Somebody's pronounced dead in the water. I didn't say you're about to put my name on the blank. No, no, no. You're right. Thanks man, priests yet, the call Mahomes has more weapons, but there's still a lot of weapons in Chicago. And there's still thirteen games. He's just learning these weapons where Tariq hill and Kareem hunt. These guys have played together to game two for Patrick Mahomes, though, still at the same time. So as much you want to say he settled, and all these other things this is still his Steelers on route two in the same system. And you're on the road against the Steelers defense and you hit my mouth to start the game. No question. John in Ireland late. No, we'll get shot. No shot in. Hey, john. Warning sparkles. What's up cookie theory? I heard you say early on something to the effect that the White Sox are aligning their rotation. Do they make a change some how did they juggle that? Can you explain how they did that? Yeah, they moved Carlos Rodin by a day. So that he could pitch against the cubs on Sunday as opposed to pitching him. This week where he would miss the cubs series. Going on longer rest or shorter as I think it's an extra day. I believe okay. So. Yeah. Renteria said we want to win some games against the cubs. No doubt about it. So that's how you back for the good deal. I gave them on content. All right, there you go. Thanks, man. Appreciate it. All right time not to play shot. No shot. Brought to you by Lou malnati's. Go cats, Illinois and more this fault right field. Single game tickets on sale now at you sports dot com. Go cats, Danny gentlemen, as we've been talking about most of the morning. Patrick mahomes. Threw six touchdowns yesterday. His performance yesterday. Whether we agree with it or not puts added pressure on Mitch Trubisky and Matt Nagy going into tonight's game without question because it's so new so fresh, it's an I would argue it's the number one storyline in the NFL right now is how good this young man looks and the first game that's coming off the heels of that is this bears quarterback who's moved up to number two going against the defense that he should thrive on. So I think if he struggles tonight absolutely the pressure intensifies. Yeah. It does externally internally. I mean Trubisky Nagy they should now again shouldn't and won't are two different things. But they gotta do what's best for them in their game plan. Whatever they think that is if it's handing the ball to Jordan Howard, thirty five times, then handed to him thirty all you have to do is get in your car to go home tonight and say we won we're one in one. That's all you have to do. You can't go. Okay. I got it. Throw four touchdowns. Because my Mahomes got six if you start getting into that you're going to look up and be all in four play your game. Just like her Brooks said in miracle play your game same deal, so depressed or does. It you saying shot the pressure intensifies. No, I'm saying the pressure tends you lose. If Trubisky goes out plays. Really, well, and they lose. I'd rather have Trubisky play whatever the game plan that Nagy determines gives us the best chance to win. Then that's the game plan. You execute. You don't go. We've got oh. My God Mahomes. We've gotta match him. No. That's not how it think. It's matching stat line. I think it's just coming out there and playing good football. It's quarterback position execute the game. That's it. Daddy in week one. Russell Wilson was sacked six times by the Broncos defense shot or no shot this vaunted bears defense will get to Russell six or more times this evening Shabbat, Sean. I think target number is six cap. Yeah. I think there's a shot. I do expect Russell Wilson to run for..

"Thursday hope that you enjoy your Thursday nights or with you until ten o'clock that it's Dan Libertad, Stu gods right here on ESPN thousands so much to get to because it's a Thursday. Of course, we have our trusty trash can here because as always tell you. Of all the stuff that I've worked with over the weekend last weekend and this week sometimes we just have to have our own little trustee trash can right here. All the stuff that I cannot get to all week. I'm going to get to tonight all of it all of it's going to be that way. Have to carry this in my bag when I leave here when I leave it'll be fresh a lighter bag, Brian expression that will be walking away with after the show at ten o'clock. So I always have this year. So we're gonna story by story. Here have the trustee can handy, so I can unload this fifteen pounds of paper that I've been carrying with me all week for stories. I wanna talk to you about. Okay. Let's start off with the the beloved the Chicago Bears. I asked you the other night whether or not you are over the bear's loss against Green Bay. And some of you were not already because of the obvious, right? Because you saw the opportunity for the is to be able to win that ballgame. It did come down to a few plays. And unfortunately, the veteran-laden the the better team won. And that was the Green Bay Packers was filled with drama as you well know with Aaron Rodgers coming in and out of the ball game. And and it was one for the books for sure. But it just goes along with the rivalry of bears and Packers over the years where the Aaron Rodgers or Brett farve or whatever quarterback you can find seems to be the hammer and the bears being the nail. Well, Mitch Trubisky and as well as Matt Nagy the head coach for the bears Trubisky, and that you had a chance to speak to the press today about a number of things. Let me just tell you this. Based on what we saw on Sunday night. It would seem to me that there are more positives than negatives from the game. The biggest negative is is that the bears lost the game. But there are so many other positives that came out of that game in which you saw in the first half. What the bears could look like if a team is off balance you saw what a team looks like offensively, especially when a defense is like, oh, okay. So this is not the the tape that I studied coming into the Green Bay game. If you are the Packers. And if you are the brass in Green Bay right Mike Patton the defensive coordinator. And you're looking at tape from last year, you're saying, okay. So this is Mitch Trubisky. He did some good things here and there with some games last year. But this is something we should be able to handle and you saw how the bears came out in that first half. And it was nothing like they saw on film. One of the reasons why that the bears were able to have the momentum in the first app is because. He did things that the Packers were not prepared for expect all those different looks. They can look at old can't city tape, but you can prepare for what the bears are going to do. You know, why? Because we as fans we're not prepared for what the bears are going to do because the bears kept everything so close to the vest when it comes to what's going on with this team. You know in the preseason. We didn't see any of those looks very few. And the other thing that we also saw is that we saw a football team that looked strong offensively. The utilization of Jordan Howard the way. They utilized him the bears. I thought was was very good. But also three Cohen made me raise my brows. Well, because I'm like, wow. That's the utilize Cohen the way they did. I thought that was pretty strong. And then of course, the distributing distributing the football the way that Trubisky did in the first half. Great. But you saw the adjustment made. And it shows you the difference between a good football team and a bad football team. A good football team can adjust from one quarter to the other one series from the other. He saw in the second half. How the bears were not able to flourish offensively as one that second half. Because you saw how they were trying to rush Trubisky. How you sacked four times how he was worried. He made bad decisions the head coach me bad decisions. The plane calling all the did not work in the second half for the bears. So some thoughts now from Mitch Trubisky to quarterback for the bears. And again, we talk about adjustments. The question is what happens on Monday night against Seattle. So Trubisky talking about his development to the press earlier today. It was more. Oh, he's a rookie growing pains. And then now it's a little different because it's like oh second year Weisenthal offense exploding. And I asked myself some of the same questions. Why aren't why aren't I plan as well as I'd like to, but if I'm to horror myself, and I just get discouraged. It's it goes from playing okay to playing worse instead of downward spiral. Exactly. So. Just try to stay positive and just keep that belief that we're going to get over the hump. And then we'll we'll start getting all the plays that everything that's designed for everything there. Either leave that I can do in this offense can do. So that's where we're at. And that's the reality of it. And. Still got the best job in the world. So I can't complain too much. And here's Matt Nagy talking about he learned from the first game in a game like that on Sunday night against the big rival. I understand that our team. I I like the way our team went about the whole week of practice. I thought they came out and they played well in the game, we didn't finish it. And and so I'm about to learn and find out where we're at as a staff where I'm at as a coach and where they're out his players, and that's the most challenging part. And that's why they bring me in here to is for these types of situations. It's not gonna I is not going to be rosy this whole time. It's not and and we're not gonna lose confidence. At all. I promise you from from this game. We're going to learn from it. I we're gonna stick together. We're gonna it's gonna make a stronger, and then hopefully, we're all sitting here at the end of the season. And I can say, you know, what we can look back here. We can reflect and say this helped us more than it. Hurt us. Wait a minute. Wait a minute. Trubisky last year. It was more. Oh, he's a rookie growing pains. And then now it's a little different because it's like oh second year. Why isn't offense exploding? And I asked myself some of the same questions why had a minute Nagy in a game like that on Sunday night against the big rival. I understand that our team. I I like the way our team went about the whole week of practice. I thought they came out and they played well in the game. We we didn't finish it. And. Twins. You hear the did you hear the conversation Trubisky Nagy? Twinsies. Oh, my. Well, clearly Trubisky and now you're on the same page because they're soundbites almost sound alike. They can finish each other's sentences at this point in time. I'm just looking at my board here in mentioned in this this week, the linked of these sound bites and they're not edited by the way. Of course, we take the question now. But I tell you what the question is. I give you the full answer. I like the long form because it gives more perspective we could easily cut these down at ten seconds. But this is not television. We I think it's deserve to be able to get the long form. So you get the idea of what the hell really is going on up there. Right. Wow. Well, here's one thing. I could tell you the person personal, you know, from a personality standpoint more so than a football standpoint. So both of these guys are on the same page because a sounding like one another. Is that good or bad? I think that's good. Because at least they. Know exactly what the issues are. Couch time though for Trubisky little bit maybe to inside. Now. Here's the thing. You don't mind an athlete saying what he really thinks because you wanna find out what's really on his mind. Whether or not your idea of what's going on is the same as the athletes that you're watching we'll couch time there for Trubisky almost like he's listening to this show or listening to shows like this. And because how else would he know what fans are thinking as far as why didn't happen. I don't think that matters. The why does not matter to me about Monday's game or Sunday's game. You know, what matters to me? What matters to me is. How? Not the why. But the how how does it get better for the next game? You know, again Sunday's game was Sunday's game is a game that they should've won. Now, you gotta flip turn the page to Monday. And if he's still talking about why things didn't occur. What I don't think. That matters. I think just like a lot of athletes you have to be able to race a lot of this stuff and just move onto the next game. If you are the same and making the same mistakes in game two and game three in game. Five like many young quarterbacks do in this league. If you're not getting better for the next games. And what's the point? 'cause we talk about the bears would Jonathan hood on ESPN one thousand the SPN app. Nathan Peterman from buffalo only has one chance at it because he's already been replaced their you'll be so it's not like the Trubisky is going to be replaced anytime soon, he is the guy. But it there's a lot of of looking on the inside of his soul. What some of these sound bites? I heard earlier today about. The things that he didn't do from Sunday's game you, and I have been watching football for a long time you, and I both know the mistakes that were made whether it's on the players on the coaches, you know, the mistakes are made I just find it interesting that he has such a reflection inside of himself and be able to to talk to the press about it. Yeah. I'm sure everyone saw what I saw. They're like, oh Mitch throw the wide open guy in the back of the endzone. Trust me. I wish I would trick was the first option in the flat. And then it was just one of those plays where you disguise how risky are you going to be are you gonna take care of the football? So I checked it down. Well, we lost five yards. But we got three points out of it and went up ten nothing. So that was the big positive takeaway for me but moving forward if I want to evolve into the quarterback, I wanna be you gotta you gotta take the opportunity, and I gotta anticipate that even more. So that wasn't something that happened in practice at all that week. But you gotta know as a quarterback if that opens up. Take your chances and get into the guy wide open. But it's it's a little less wide open when you're playing at for motion on film, when you got the still picture, which I'm sure a lot of people saw it looks like I don't know what I'm doing. But. Trust me. I mean hard on myself. I mean, you you want touchdowns now feels so I thought I put myself and my team in a good position in that instance, first-quarter check it down three points were up ten nothing..

"Jesse at three we'll get into some bears conversation. Good stuff from Trubisky. Nagy today. A bike on the south side. You're on ESPN one thousand what's up. Hey, guys. Love the show. I just wanted to weigh in on the conversation. L be word or not. I mean, I think they definitely should be worried. We got a one game lead now with the weeks left on the season. And don't forget the cardinals are right there too. So, you know, really the divisions up for grabs. And if they lose that first place spot. I mean, you know, possibly planned the cardinals for a one game playoff series. And you know, we all know, they probably don't forget that series back and fifteen so, you know, it's gonna be tough those last few remaining weeks it's going to be a spring. That's for sure. I mean Mike's Friday the cardinals are what three and a half back three and a half back as we sit. Right. If if the cubs lose today. Yeah. And and the cardinals can do some damage to the dodgers playoff hopes starting tonight. They're insane. Lewis for four games. And remember the cubs finished the regular season at home with three games against Saint Louis. Right. So Elmer, Steve you're on ESPN. Steve. Good afternoon guys. You know, I feel like this is a situation years ago. You know on the station when Adam was was very young producer. I get to get on the station as a as a guest host on a show in the interview coach Kennedy and at the time his team was struggling to finish off games when they were winning against ranked teams. They were really good team. But against the ranked teams they fell short several times at the end of ball games. And I think that's what's gonna happen with Milwaukee because deep down I think you have to know you have to feel in your soul that you're the best team you deserve to win. And then you have the confidence you go out there and finish it off. And I think this is a team for had a guys stack us who've been there done that and got the t shirt, but you know, they get a lot of guys who have never done it yet. And and I don't know that they have that deep belief, and I think you're gonna see them right now. I'm starting right away have a let down and they're going to drop back and the cubs are going to win the. This. In fifteen those Steve I mean, like the experience factor against the cardinals didn't play a role, I know last year at experience, but other than that the cubs didn't have a lot of experience Warburg who who is a guy who never played in a playoff game homers in the wild card game. Yeah. I think you can go that way. If you have the right mentality in your young players. And I think the cubs had that now it could be, you know, the it turns out that the Milwaukee Brewers have those kind of players, but they haven't proven it to me. And I see all too often teams fall short when they're in situations where they're against the team that has you know, they've been to NFL CS three years in a row. And I think it's intimidating and I think in deep down if you don't have that belief that you're the better team. It's easy to slide back, and I think they're going to they're going to be in the wild card, and and I would hate to see dummy in the playoffs because man alive, you know, since they made all the additions and everything they're loaded, except they still let the starting pitching that you really one in a in a playoff series. I would say this and thanks for the call Steve. It's the old hunter versus the hunt. It, you know. Example. And I believe that the brewers are better hunters, and they're more experienced hunters this year than they were last year. Yes. Yes. Because he was trying to get the cops and they show. Right. A bit right now. They're they're more. I think that they're they're more dangerous marksmen than they have been in the past. And I agree with Steve the cubs rotation is better. But if you're turning it over to the bullpen consistently in the fifth where the sex right now. It's the brewers bullpen that's way, better than the cups. Yeah. I'm with you. "ESPN, Chicago. Now, you just saying you wanna have fun. How could you not have fun where we're sitting right now? We're right across the street from Wrigley field big star Wrigley bell. We're telling Waddell before we got over here and up dollars been a huge big star fan. In the wicker park town area big fan of. Of of whiskey bourbon, Antioch. Oh, yes. All of the of the people live in that neighborhood know, how great big star is. It's a staple in that area sit outside there, you go up to the window. Whatever you want. Now, you got to pick star at big star. Look at you shooter. That's you know, that's all you. I'm not going to the game. The CEO of McDonald's. I'm getting my car going home. Maybe I could sell my house to know. That's it. Oh, no asking if he does I'll sell this one. That's a good thing. Yes. You me as much as you. High five. Yeah. Caps going to be here at three. So we're a big star. And it's all presented by a knob creek single barrel. Ri- waddles just finished his off there. So this could be an entertaining show. We're on the second floor. So whether you're going to tonight's cubs brewers game. It's the last game of the year against the brewers in last they play again in the LDS, right? So the cubs will either leave tonight with a one game lead or hopefully a three game lead. This is the big swing game where right now to go up to three or go down to one. And of course, they have I believe if it goes up to three be before in the loss com. We've only like seventeen about his craft play. So that's huge. And we were talking about scenarios for tomorrow with your co and Carmen and crosstalk and also off the air like, I wanna know. What's the hesitation with major league baseball now with making this October first? You know, you add a team who is playing twenty three games in twenty three days. Already the limit. With the the union is twenty games. You cannot play more than twenty straight games of scheduled baseball now because of the makeup game with that Lanta. They they had to go to the union and get it approved where they could play twenty three days. So now it's going from twenty three days to possibly thirty thirty games in thirty days. And now, I know they didn't play in Washington, but they had to sit all day there on Sunday there were there all day before they finally came. That was not an off day it wasn't. But does the major league baseball consider that not playing? Well, they consider it not playing, but they don't consider it a scheduled off day. There's a huge difference between getting into the ballpark at nine AM for one o'clock game and sitting there well past one o'clock waiting for a game to be pledged. Totally. That's common sense. I'm asking though, if major league baseball could use this as a technicality against them and force them to follow. You know, the schedule if they asked him to play I don't think there's any way major league baseball puts them in harm's way right in and look I'm good with what they had to do times getting down to the nitty gritty here. There are any off days to reschedule these this isn't coming from a bias cubs fan where I'm saying like, they're screwing the globe. Aw. That's not my my thing is, and I think feel at the same thing was of course, that they won't make the cubs go into a tropical storm or hurricane whatever it is at this point. But what I don't want happening is them sending the cubs back to DC the cubs sitting there for hours against the NATs them being in a rain delay. And then then saying well we can't play today. It's raining again for one day. And then you gotta come back for afternoon game or early night game Friday Wrigley. Do you know what I'm saying? I want it to be one hundred percent certain that they could play tomorrow. And if they can't you do not make a team that's played this many games in a row, independent race get on a plane and make them sit in a rain delay with a chance that it could be postponed yet again. No, I'm with you. And I don't think that the brewers are the cardinals could have I don't why hope is is that they wouldn't have a beef with that. But I think that I I don't think they're beef with that would be taken seriously by most baseball fan. I'm not asking that they make this game. Tomorrow at Wrigley. I'm not asking the major league baseball plays this on a neutral site that's unfair and a pennant race. This game. Should be played in DC. Now Tober I to me seems reasonable if necessary because that way it the cubs already have the division clench. They may not have to play in the naps are already out of it. What is what is the what is the likelihood that there's going to be rain in washing forty to fifty percent that to me is too much of a risk. Maybe. He told me there was a ten percent chance of rain, and we all know things can change significantly pretty quick. But to me, I think that that's on. I what if what if the storm for whatever reason pivots and heads back in the direction of you know, where you're going. Now, I don't know a media are meteorology class at BC got an a in it. Thank you. Yes. But that doesn't make me whether expert why didn't you pursue it? Because it didn't have any interest in a career in weather. Presentable gut class. Cool. If you understand it or no one. No, wait, a second to all of the people that are excellent at their job like like, Tracy Butler, and Cheryl, Scott and everybody else. Thank your lucky stars that you never got. That's right because I'd taken the job because I would have been a q. Sports with Martine Greco, Ed weather on the eighth with Tom come on. You know, my name would have been storm something I would have changed my name like Ross it would been like. Stormy dope. Not intentional come the king of humor. I would've changed. The name. Definitely definitely weather name which you've used because there's not like there's few ones that you can use your like that's a fake Amy freeze is a real name. Right. That's her real real last name. Are we sure how I worked with Amy a FOX affiliate here in town for years? I don't know that that's her real name. Like, do you think frosty ruckers real name is frosty? You take his mom and dad. Well, he's a football player bleed from Auburn who plays for the Bengals. I think he plays the Benghazi may have changed teams. But at one point he played for the Bengals that sounds like a real name frosty, given the nickname, isn't that? Yeah. Yeah. So three one two three three two three seven seven six. Meteorology name rusty Lyn Rucker, so that's his real name given name frosty. Wow. Look at that. F R O S T E, right? You are correct. I guess, Sylvia. My question to you. As a cubs fan is are you what's risk which risk? Are you willing to take the risks that they go to Washington and not play or the risk of the game and you face to face? Well, not only that you have to face sherzer in possibly one sixty two when it should be when the seasons should be over. But then not only do you have to pay one sixty two you potentially have to play one sixty three. If you're tied with the brewers or you then have to go into the wild card game where as it Ryan risk it and play tomorrow, you can kind of set up your pitching staff. So you hate your best pitcher available. They won't get shares. Or if it's October first why not what's yours trying to win the Cy Young? Why why wouldn't they if they've got nothing to play for other than knocking like I? And that's that's what our conversation was Mallard Starbucks. What what's the fear with major league baseball making October? I I think is the fear that it's October first and the cubs are up either by a half game or down by a half game. And they have to play to see if there's a tie in the division. And then if there's a tie for the division between the brewers and the cops would they play then October second against each other for whoever wins the division. And then the loser of that game. Then at supply October third in the National League wild card game that and then the postseason gets pumped back a little that's precisely it is that they're concerned is the wild the one game wild card, which is tentatively scheduled for October. Second. Tober third and Ellen AL that those will be messed around with. That's why they're trying to avoid the Tober first date if at all possible, and the reason I say they won't get sherzer is because I would bet almost anything that he will get the Sunday start prior to the first because they want it because he's in the Cy Young race. And if he has if he's on his rest Bill want him to go that final Sunday game. So that he gets that last start to ensure he can try some voters plus joke. A call eighty Martinez and say, hey, do a friend solid. Do us a solid will you? Yeah. I second matter. You're going to go on a streak at like ten out of eleven and I'm going to win money from Carmen and from Dallas and everyone's going to be happy. Yeah. Everybody. Yeah. And I'll be happy. But I was watching that game in the fetal position yesterday. But they did a good job. Justin Wilson did a great job and Kenny. Basie jam Kitano tasks did exactly what you needed him to do. Yes. Yes. Jeff on the west side wanted to weigh in on our conversation a little bit earlier. Hey, Jeff ESPN one thousand. Oh, yeah. Yeah. How you doing? Tom. Yeah. Yeah. I wanted to thank you. Capital spotlight mad because he dog John Fosse last year man air for the last three years he was here. And then when he announced his name is not I'm like, oh my God. John FOX word. He might not have been a guest show. As as as as the on. He wanted to say there's not a lot of bad people in this industry. He's a straight for that, man. So I to say I just want to stay. And another thing I wanted to say yesterday. He said he wanted to use the word, relax, whatever the show went on. Oh. L A X. Yes. That's all I to. Thank you guys. I think caps on a three, isn't it? Yeah. I've got no issue with cap Rippin, John FOX the issue that both of us had during the season was painting a false narrative that John FOX didn't wanna coach anymore that he simply took the bears gig for money. Do you know what I mean? Yeah. That's that's that was beyond for you. When you don't know you can't question somebody's motivation. You don't know that you want to say bad higher bad coach, not the right guy for the job fine. But he was creating this false narrative that this was a guy who is simply in it for the money. And then and then today here he was to foxy saying, hey, foxing. There's some good guys in the media. I don't know what to tell you. I mean, I don't think John would sweat. The fact that cap was even critical of him. So I don't know. I don't know what to say it's it was kind of odd to listen to him with final comments count the bears money. It just seemed like an odd comment. What did he say have fun counting? Enjoy what you're doing now and have fun continental that bears money. And thank you for taking time. You're good, man. Thanks, thanks. There you go John FOX at least they did it with the line. As he was hanging up. He said also cap also said enjoy what you're doing and thanks for coming on. Yeah. But you, you know, the way he presented that was his an joking mannered. So that John could kind of chuckle about it. When in reality. That's not how it was being presented when John FOX is on the line. Do you know what I'm saying? Yeah. No, look, I thought it was I thought it was was odd. They want to cap out of a universal. We'll talk to cap it. We'll talk about the cubs with Kaplan clock. And I think cab got off to a good start actually in fantasy football. Then d I think he did. I think he got one. All sixteen teams got off to a pretty decent star. So if you wanna talk about the cubs sixteen teams like, yeah. I don't think they were like last year. There's not a colossal bad team. Now. Listen, I mean, we're not going by record. We're going by low point, correct. And I don't think there's an enormous difference between like last year. I think there was a team that would get thirty or forty points a game. I one of the lower point totals in week one. So I was on the waiver wire yesterday really made some claims I'm doing some some tryouts shuttle in some guys back and forth. Yeah. Let's. What a good general manager Doug always trying to get better. So if you wanna weigh in about the cubs, do you feel better about last night? What's like, I had people dare you question. The way the cubs are playing three one two three three two three seven seven six still lots of good bears conversation out there to Trubisky Nagy and getting ready for the Monday night game. There are a couple of requests that I have for Matt Nagy. Can I make those to you coming up next? Yeah. I use yours by sounding board. Worse. I'm here for you. Monday night, joined former bears Matt forte, Lance Briggs and Alex Brown for the football after show on NBC sports. Chicago will the bears play great and primetime against the Seahawks in their home opener here where the guys have to say after both teams.

Talking about putting a little cash we should have should have telling you got those just those dominant numbers against the brewers right in look this. You guys were talking with Jesse about the whole container trade. I've always been good with the trade. If you get the White Sox can Tana that's all I've asked for the last five or so games this year. The cops didn't get the White Sox version if you get a two or three starter that's cost controlled. I'm always good with giving up. You know, even if it's Illinois and any turns out to project to be what he is in Dylan sees what he is. If if this guy is going to be a guy I can count on every fifth day. But if he's a one three five whip guy, you know, what I'm saying if he's a four and a half year a guy that's not a guy. I don't care how long he's cost control. That's not a guy I want. So I've just asked container to be more of what we've seen lately. Does that make sense? Yeah. Of course. You want? The White Sox can taunt exactly what and you'll live it. And if they win you'll live with just like you live with laboratories, New York. I don't mention laboratories ever, right? I mean, he's just you know, they knew what they were giving up though, they needed one final piece to help them when the World Series. Yeah. In a worked totally good with it. Who are you going with tonight, by the way? I am going with James who works for the cobs, and my brand new friend, Steve Easterbrook. Mcdonnell. You're going with the CEO Donald. Yes. Yes. There's your new friend. But we've met this year. David fleming. Manny more from Chicago cut introduced us. We went out to dinner like six weeks ago. They just got engaged we taxed about the cops. He's he's a huge cubs fan. Wow. We've been saying that we're going to cubs games soon. He texted me this morning car. Like, it's me you and Zetter men go into a game. He's like, hey weird. Question. Sylvie do I wear should. I look somewhat respectable. Or should I wear a Cup shirt? This is McDonald's L wondering how to dress for the Jess. Yeah. Like me texting. You karma. You wearing shorts or. Yeah. That's. That's strange to me. Are you sitting in his private suites or something? I mean, James, and I are taking him. Oh, jeez. We have good seats for tonight. Oh, Sylvie dressed up in your war. His El Mago shirt. I'm wearing nail Mago shirt. That's what I texted him. I go. I am looking respectable. I'm wearing my alma grocer. They win that shirt will be off. I'm rolling around and mcnuggets and a quarter Pounder with afterwards. I mean that's not at night after a cubs. Mcdonald's. You guys will be at a tattoo parlor getting best friend tattoos getting bigger with one arm and a cubs. On the other scenes tattoos. You won't get home till four in the morning. Golden arches on my chest. Steve. Car harm. You would get your co two. You would get a big kick out of him. He played rugby. He's british. He played rugby growing up and then he played cricket. So when he came over here, he immediately gravitated to baseball because cricket and baseball are very similar, and he has become this rabid die-hard cubs fan. I don't know if diehard diehard maybe top because he's a recent cubs fan, but he'll just by a single ticket in go sit out in the bleachers and by himself, and he's been to like thirty or forty games this year. He's virgo. He likes long walks. It's crazy and cut dinners. I know right. Yeah. Have you guys had any good whiskey hits? You haven't had the tacos any whisky barrel ride a night from knob creek. Look, I mean you. Ten after two we got three hours and forty five minutes worth of show left. I mean, so the answer's yes. Yes. Okay. I was I was gonna say I'd hope you'd have a few whiskies in you at this point. Yeah. I want your money. Listen, you might get it coming after it. I don't you might like I said, it's it's ping pong back and forth so much one minute. I feel good the next. I started to think what man the cubs are going to. I don't know. What would feel good about it because time is running out on this season? So what what would what would surprise you more? I'm looking at the standards to see how many games are left. I know where we're sitting. I got a two game lead. My team does there's only two weeks left. Here's what there's eighteen games left. Is that correct? That sounds about right. Do you? What would surprise you more that they continue to struggle collectively the way they did over the last several games or that they come out and they play like the backs of their baseball cards for the next ten to twelve game. That wouldn't surprise me. Not a surprise you more. If they stayed in this kind of long. Yes. Yes. Even though I get that a lot of it is probably based on right now. Yes, I think that would surprise me more, by the way, they still after all of this conversation. Still have the best record on still. The best second-best differential in the best record in the national race. What what what do you guys? Think about the Lee major league baseball is handling tomorrow's game. Let's stop jerking them around. I mean, you know, like make a decision already. Book it for October one thing. I don't think I don't know. Although Tracy Butler seems to think that there's no doubt they can get into changed the project it's turning south in it's slowing down. It's not going to make landfall. He heading west for sure it's no longer on that northwest, turn left to go. Do west do us. Good. That's good booze. Right there. Just had a little sip of the knob creek single barrel ride. Very good. You like karma. If you wanna come out and have a drink with me after the show. Can you bring your pullover to because I'm a little chilly right now. A little chilly by the lake. It is. Yeah, it's going to be a little golf look cool today. Full bottle right here. Call I'd like to come up there right now and how come on. I can't it's like the old days you go pick up the kids. Yes. Getting. Yeah. Tell Karen you find yourself in a different city tomorrow. Three. Hammered at Wrigley Ville, and now I'll pass although the single bell ride the knob single Bill does sound good to me. Right. Shame on you couple of tacos and some whiskey. What what what are you waiting and bring it bring pullover. I'm a little what are you waiting for? Cab come on. I can't you can't you can't stop tempting me. You come on out to come on. What do you got going? Where are you guys that exactly right? Star right across the street. Traffic's too bad up there. It's actually not. Actually by the time. I get out and start handing out. It's the traffic going back to where we'll call youtuber. I don't wanna Nobre. I'll drive I need a number for because we want you to get it. It's easier. I'm fine. Thank you for asking. That's good booze right there. Yeah. It's it's excellent. Isn't it? I like it the way I had not heard the lockenfora sound yesterday until you guys played it for me. But I think Sylvie summed it up perfectly going into it. Like, it doesn't sound good. When you hear it. But then again, I don't think he's got a bear story, right? In three years time. He talks it's opposite day, you know, but conform basically went on the Tony corner Kornheiser podcast and said well hired they weren't playing Mitch Trubisky and the prison because they're they're they don't want to show. Everybody can't play. Why look has shown you whether it's right or wrong that he believes in Mitchell Trubisky. You know what I mean? Like, no he believes in them. Yes believes in. So why would they not now all the sun after they made the entire offseason about Trubisky Nagy weapons all this? Now, all of a sudden they're telling you can't play when he hasn't even played a real game. Now again, Ryan pace may be wrong. And ultimately Mitch may not be what they think. But they're not hiding from playing them in.
