"The browns cut, stud receiver Jarvis Landry, he'll be 30 in November. He was unhappy. He was expensive. I have a lot of intrigue. Where is he going to go? I would imagine he will likely sign with a contender, buffalo, Tampa, chargers, Kansas City, something like that. Cleveland saved nearly $15 million by cutting him. So it was good for their salary cap. I actually didn't cost them very much in dead Kevin. $1.5 million in dead cap. A great move all around for Cleveland, honestly. And I think Jarvis lander still has good years left. He had over a thousand yards receiving a 2019. I want to see where he will go. I think he's going to sign a contract with a good football team and try to go into Super Bowl. And I'm rooting for him. So there are a couple of interesting free agents that were recently added to the free agent pool. Jarvis Landry I cut miles Jack got cut Z Darius Smith got cut. I'm really interested to see where those guys go. The Broncos signed defensive and Randy Gregory yesterday. Randy Gregory actually told the Dallas Cowboys he would sign with them arena resigned with them. But then Dallas dropped the ball big time. Dallas included wording last minute in the contract that Randy Gregory did not like, did not feel comfortable with. And so instead of signing a 5 year $70 million deal with the Dallas Cowboys, he signed a 5 year $70 million deal with Denver instead and said, bye bye. Sorry, Dallas, you missed out. And he bails on another offer. That one's on Dallas. You can't, you can't play games late in the game. If you wanna play or you gotta get them. There's another person making an offer. You miss out. And I think it's a better he'll make a little less money in Denver because of taxes. But I don't know, man. You know, what's a better life winning a Super Bowl with Russell Wilson in Denver? Or being a solid football team, a meal take a little more a couple more $1 million to play in Dallas, but I think he's actually going to have a better life win more and have a good time in Denver, so I like this move..

"Does it mean you need to ignore your defense and they cut linebacker miles Jack? They're leading tackler last year. And it's not like he's old. He's 26 years old. 27 in September. They cut him to save $8.35 million. That does not feel worth it to me. Your best defensive play you're going to get cut him for $8 million. I mean, to me, it makes almost no sense. You're letting a good player in his prime walk away from your organization. And you didn't even trade him. You're just going to let him leave. Makes no sense to me. I don't like it. I don't understand it. But miles Jack is available. He's a great player. I guess we'll see where he goes. I would love to see miles Jack, go to a really good football team and win somewhere. I mean, there's a lot of teams out there that could use a linebacker. He's really dang good, but it's a move that from the Jaguars perspective, how does that sound? You cut a player who was not that expensive. Who is your best defensive player in his prime? Okay. Yeah, I don't know how Jaguars fans feel good about that one. Especially when you're overpaying Christian Kirk a ton of money. Okay. All right, pay the guy who's done nothing in his career. But don't keep the guy who's been killing it for years for you, who's young, 26. I don't know. The Jaguars I can defend and I can explain away why they signed Christian Kirk. I can explain away why they brought in zay Jones a little bit overpaid. I can't explain the miles Jack move at all. Other than, I guess I wanted to save money. I would never want to save money so badly that I'll cut miles Jack for $8 million. That feels like a nonsensical thing to do. So I don't know. You can decide for yourself to me, it makes no sense. The jets made a couple of solid moves. They re signed receiver banks and burials to a two year $12 million deal. He's a return man too. It's a good move I like that. They also sign tight end. CJ uzama from Cincinnati to a three year $24 million deal. He's 29 years old, CJ zama last year got 49 passes for 493 yards and 5 touchdowns. Hey, they got a tight end. They retained a receiver, they also signed guard, Lake and Tomlinson to help their offensive line he came over from the forty-niners. He got a three year $41.2 million deal. I like it. The Jets have been getting some solid help for their young quarterback Zach Wilson. I also resigned a couple of people. Like the jets are doing some solid stuff, not amazing stuff, but solid stuff that I like and it's good to see what's going on. Okay, I'm gonna check my phone. Okay, Aaron Rodgers signed a three year $150 million contract extension to return to the Green Bay Packers. They moved some money around, so as cap number for 2022 has been lowered from a little over $46 million to 28. It's a massive deal. It really helps them with the salary cap. And now Aaron is under contract for 2022, 2023 and 2024. Here are a couple of things I have in response to that number one. You got to trade your backup quarterback, Jordan love, a former first round pick. He's trade value as high enough that getting rid of Jordan love could give you a player who can help you win a Super Bowl Aaron Rodgers or a draft pick that can help you in a Super Bowl Aaron Rodgers. Did you make that move? You got to make that trade. And it makes no sense to waste Jordan love sitting on the bench. I just don't feel good about that. I would rather him be somewhere getting a shot to play than sitting wasting away behind Aaron Rodgers. Number two, I want you to hear this. Listen, packers fans. Marcus Whitman, I love you. My buddy. Packer fan. Aaron Rodgers chose to stay. I like it. Erin is really won me over in recent times. I think that it's pretty clear the media, I've really changed my tune on this on Aaron Rodgers. Pretty clear the media has a lot of reporting where they hear a rumor about Aaron Rodgers and they jump on it as truth. And they want to be first, so they put stuff out really early. And the reporting Aaron Rodgers has not entirely been accurate for a long time. It's clear he loves his teammates. It's clear that more than we thought he likes Green Bay. I am very curious if Aaron Rodgers will ever win another Super Bowl. They haven't been able to get it done in Green Bay with pretty good circumstances around him recently. So Aaron is going to dominate the NFC north the packers the Vikings, the packers against his own team. The Lions, the Vikings, the bears. But I do not want to hear any excuses ever again about how Aaron Rodgers being held back by the grain day packers. He could have left. This was the time. This was the opportunity for Aaron to demand a trade and get out of Green Bay. But instead he's making a ton of money. And if he can't win another Super Bowl with the Green Bay Packers, he's won one in his career. If he can't ever do it again, then I want you to just remember that he chose to stay. "I think he's going to be definitely a playoff team. Again, that division isn't very good. He found another team similar to the Patriots for years that are in a division with not much going on to the other three spots. And we'll see, can they win a Super Bowl? That's the question, really, because that's the only reason Tom Brady is going to come back. It's not worth it to him, I think, at this point, to play without trying to and believing you can win a Super Bowl. There is one other funny note on Saturday, so Tom Brady announced he's coming out of retirement on Sunday. 24 hours before that on a Saturday, apparently some guy bought Tom Brady's final touchdown ball, like the ball that was thrown for Tom Brady's final touchdown in the NFL. He bought it for over half a $1 million, 5000 5000. $518,000, 628. 518 $628,000, a little over half a $1 million. I know I butchered that. I'm sorry. It's early in the morning. I'm doing my best. So 24 hours about after that guy bought that football, the final touchdown ball. Brady would announce he's returning to the NFL and that ball lost nearly all of its value. I don't feel bad for that guy though at all. I've thought about this a lot. If you have the money to spend the equivalent of buying a house, over $500,000 on a football, and you lose that money, well, you already spent it on a football. I just don't have any, I don't feel bad for this guy. If a, he's probably a really rich dude with a ton of money. B, he really spent all of his life savings on this football. $500,000 and bought a football instead of a house. I will be learned a really valuable lesson. You can buy a nice house. Think about how many people you could help with $500,000. How many meals you could buy for people? I'm not a big memorabilia guy. I never, it seems like just frivolous stupid spending. But that probably really rich dude. I don't know how many people I can think of in my life. They were going to drop $500,000 on a football. A bunch of normies out here. No one has that kind of money. So I don't really feel bad for this guy. It's kind of funny, though. If anything, it's a warning. Hey, that's a really stupid way to spend your money. On a football? I love football. It's my favorite thing in the world. Do you think I've been spending $500,000 on a Tom Brady football? Get out of here, never. Never in my life. There has been some talk that the Giants could be interested in you. Although I personally don't think they'll be able to afford you because they can't offer you the starting job initially. I think you're going to be brought as a starter. But when I say to the New York Giants to you, what comes to mind? Yeah, I think of coach stable right away just because my connection with him in Buffalo, I'm excited to see what he does in New York really. I don't know where I'm going to go, but I know whatever he does there. He's going to do a great job with that offense. He's a great leader of men. He's just reeling authentic with all the guys and I think that's why so many people respected him in our building. So I'm excited to see what he's going to do and then, of course, New York, you think of the city. I haven't been to New York many times, but you think of big New York City and the Giants. So I know coach stable will do a great job and I'm excited to see that offense. In fact, ESPN planned an extra hour of NFL live that day so that we were on from three to 5 eastern and at the start of the second hour, Brian Flores followed his lawsuit that alleged discrimination in hiring practices of NFL head coaches and in the final hour of NFL live on a day it was expanded to accommodate Tom Brady, Tom Brady's name was never mentioned. The fan and rj one of these stories over the weekend that was a feel-good story for the trubisky family was his their mitch. Trubisky performance against his former team. The chicago bears. They obviously parted ways during the off season but it was trubisky all over his former team there at soldier field in a row to blow out of buffalo takara chicago. Okay this is going to sound like. I'm being facetious sarcastic josh. I'm not. I'm being serious. Not that i think this is certainly true but it has all the makings that it could reasonably be true and let me make the following point. Let's compare josh island to mitch trubisky. Okay mitch trubisky was the higher pick so relative to what's the pedigree. How well was. He respected coming into the draft. It was richard. Bisky was the second pick. Josh allen wasn't the second pick later okay so you could say better pedigree now. How did trubisky do last year. Compared to how. Josh allen did the year before last which was the year before he emerged the year before the bills and their coach the oc day bowl and all the magic that they performed on josh allen. And let's not forget josh allens improvement between his third or second and third year was unlike anything we've ever seen not the size of the improvement. Though that was all time in that category. It was his accuracy improvement. He improved in a way. That just players quarterbacks just don't improve everyone said nope that's it. He's you know he is what he is. And then last year josh on was something different something much much much more mazing one of the best quarterback in the nfl. That really is not only unusual. It was maybe one of a kind with that accuracy improvement. So there's something about with the bills are doing or maybe it's shosh island but let's compare them to trubisky not only was trubisky drafted earlier but last year he was number twenty one in. Qbr trubisky with a sixty one number qbr. Sixty one josh allen year before last had forty nine twelve points less so that's not even close. I mean that's a significant difference that the last year before the exposure to let's say this new bill system trubisky was better. Trubisky was drafted higher. And let's be honest. Trubisky looked amazing. That game i mean it's way you could say oh. It was preseason. It was but i mean he looked amazing and my question is how far fetched. Is it that the higher drafted player that had a better season before in theory. He's going to emerge that he couldn't do it. Jonas what do you think i yeah. I'm gonna go josh allen on. This challenge already happened. The question is how shocking. If i said there was a twenty percent chance of this one five that you're bisky would have as good a years. Josh allen had last year not this year because he might not even get a chance but his he may have a year in the next year or two or coppell in which he emerges in a way that shocks everyone a yeah look. I don't think it's that far fetched. I've always thought you know. There's the opportunity that he could end up in the right system. Like an alex. Smith who maybe didn't have the ability to throw downfield like a lot of guys was mobile enough and smart enough with the football and he struggled early figured it out when especially when he got to kansas city. If mitch finds himself the right coaching staff and they build around him up. Success in the legality has yeah but he did have a great second year third and cuba. Yes yeah no dow. But i guess the last the way i should have maybe phrase. It wasn't outdoor. Jj this way is. Would it be less of a surprise if mitch trubisky became a top ten quarterback then it was. That josh allen did because by all accounts josh allen was the biggest surprise maybe it would be a big surprise. Because we at this point we felt like mitch. Trubisky had failed his way out of being even having a chance to be a starting quarterback. And josh allen i think last year was the year that was going to decide whether he was a buster. Not and he broke out. Yeah that year's coming gone from mitch. I think you're making a good point. Is there had been two mediocre years from josh allen. There's been four from trubisky. That is a factor. I'm keeping my eye on it. Let's look think base. Oh jonas that baltimore streak so the baltimore. Orioles much like Unlike the baltimore ravens when it comes to their streak in the preseason the baltimore orioles have lost a bunch of games in a row continues to get worse and worse there for the ios in the city of baltimore. "Announced earlier today former bears quarterback mitch trubisky signing a one year deal with the buffalo bills presumably to backup josh allen. There it is a two and a half million dollar deal with some incentives tied into it. That's injury presumably would be the other scenario. He gets beat out for the backup and he's the third. Is that one. maybe it gets cut. It's a there's a chance he'll be the backup. Let me ask you this question though. Because it's easy and it's if we're making fun of mitchell way or mitchell and that's worthy of being made fun of i think but not this. He's okay right you know. He's making more than a lot of hardworking people. You know literally do in a lifetime in this bad year but they are in the end of these players these reaching the pinnacle of their profession. And it's a billion dollar profession. They make money. They're supposed to make. I mean to me. The beauty of the nfl's rev share agreement. Is they're saying okay. The players contribute fifty percent the infrastructure. The all legacy to have the trademarks team. You know however you want to think about that fifty percent we take the money in. We divvied up and go. I mean to me that means that you can't even debate if collectively that you were jones but collectively with the players deserve their millions and millions and billions ultimately. They do that said we can. Because they're making so much money. We can have some fun with it. But i gotta be honest. I think that trubisky getting resigned by the bears was closer than we thought. Because i would make the following case. Let me ask you joan. What you would have made the odds. I don't we didn't do it at the time but right when this season let's say the regular season ended and those that remember obviously foles got her trubisky came back in play statistically significantly. Better at that point. I would have guessed about thirty percent chance. The trubisky would've had been rinse we signed in some significant way. Not like a five hundred million dollar deal but a real deal. I think the odds weren't worse than thirty percent. What would you have guessed. The is debate. I yeah i would have said probably about the same because that was a lot of the discussions i know in and around chicago that day. Did he play himself back into consideration for the twenty twenty one quarterback job and when i see him getting beat out for the job. I don't mean that. As a slight m i actually think. NFL Franchise Tag: What it is and how it works
"What is a franchise tax. So you hear this word a lot. I always used to think franchise tag means. We're just gonna see that player on that specific team for the remaining of the season but there or for the next year but they're a little more complicated in that so every offseason teams have a two week window to plot to a one year franchise tag so once the player gets tagged they can either sign that contract or a long term extension. Which is the more i think. That's the more popular use of the franchise tag because a of teams don't want their their coveted players to hit free agency and they don't want another to swoop them without getting being able to offer them. I so these salaries for for each tag varies by position and the price is set by either adding the top five paid players from each position or it can be one hundred percent of a player's previous year's salary so twenty percent Increase in that salary so by position quarterback at least twenty six million a year with the franchise tag water. She was get seventeen million defensive ends get around seventeen million but less than receivers linebackers get fifteen million and so on and so forth. I think running backs get around ten million so it all depends on how guys are being being paid at that specific position so teams only can use this once a year and they can only use it on one player you can use it on the same player different years but yeah you can only had us one tag per year. There's different types of tags. There's an exclusive franchise tag which means players can't negotiate it all with other teams. There's a non exclusive franchise tag where other teams can make an offer and then The the team that has that player can match that offered and take the player And then there's a tradition. Tax tradition tags are similar to non-exclusive but players get an average of top ten position salaries instead of top five. So there's a little bit of a my discrepancy there and once the tag is applied teams have until mid july to renegotiate the contract. So like i said most common use for these franchise tag is not let a player. They want hit free agency. They wanna keep them around and then negotiate a more long-term deal to save some money and get under the cap for the foreseeable future so these somewhat can be slightly unfair A lot of players disliked the franchise tag for example on robinson is voiced his opinions against the franchise tag because it plays a lot of restrictions on upper-echelon players. So when a player like allen robinson gets franchise tagged they can't really find the real market value because they have that set price on them and if they wanted to go explore free agency then they could go interview with a bunch of teams test the waters and see what their actual worth is rather than getting a set number Just put on them so that's somewhat unfair This makes them have no financial security past one season. So if there's an injury then you know they just their value could just completely plummet. Under the franchise tag now players can hold out. That's really the only leverage they have in the su- situation but you know that's asking a lot of a player to put their public. Perception line put their reputation with the fans on the line and so most players don't do that but it has gotten to that point before so most cases players work at a deal for the tag comes into place in july which is the deadline for them to restructure. Or make that deal. So now i'm gonna get into what players have got tagged so far and What does that mean for. These teams moving forward. I player i wanted to discuss. Is alan robinson so. This one was obvious when it had to be done. Bears have a lot of uncertainty at the at the quarterback situation. So i don't think they wanted to make a long term deal without knowing where what direction they were gonna go with the quarterback. But you couldn't let player of this caliber and a player. This talented gopher nothing in return so in twenty twenty roms a career. High one hundred two passes for twelve hundred fifty yards. And he's only twenty seven which is pretty remarkable considering everything he's been through he had a tornado in two thousand seventeen with jacksonville. And he's really played with really bad quarterbacks over the years he's had blake bortles who's a backup slash bouncing around the league and he's played with mitch trubisky. Who's a failed first round pick for the chicago bears. And he's still been that he's had that production there no matter what. So i really wanna see robinson play with upper echelon quarterback and i just think if you give him a russell wilson someone who's above slightly above average maybe even just average than his numbers will go up. Even more is ridiculous so like i said he's a true number one receiver. I would argue top five in the league. He's either gonna play for seventeen million in two thousand twenty which is what his franchise tag number. I think he's looking for more around twenty million and easier gonna play under that contract or he can hold out. Which i think is definitely a possibility with this player just because of the displeasure. He's voiced on social media and kind of how players of rallied. His teammates have rallied rallied around him and they really want to see him get paid but when you look at the market value so he's gonna get paid seventeen million the tag next year.

"Story of the day. The Eagles have traded quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts and oh my goodness. It made me very happy. I was so excited. There's a lot to unpack. I want to start though by mentioning a weird thing first. In the 2016 NFL draft the number and overall pick was Jared Goff. The number two overall pick was Carson Wentz. And both have been traded away from the teams. They were drafted by 19 days apart. Just a weird quick doesn't happen very often the guy a number and overall pick a number 2 overall pick gets traded away. Especially not the quarterback position. Let alone almost in just over two weeks apart from each other. That's crazy. Pretty wild now after the trade the Eagles have a 33.8 Million Dead money. Salary cap charge for the 2021 NFL season what that means I will get into that in a minute. First of all, that's actually by the way the most ever to have dead money cap. I guess charge or penalties by an NFL team. It's so much that I actually thought that might keep the Eagles from trading cars and stuff like that might be so much of a penalty. They're not even getting rid of the guy sounds like they did. I thought it's good for everybody Carson Wentz wanted out they I think we're you know, we'll talk about Jalen hurts in a minute, but I thought it was good to get Carson out of there. It is also kind of weird and interesting I talked about Jared Goff previously very briefly the other the the record for the most amount of dead money against the salary cap was Jared Goff. I think people realize that's the best they were going to get so anybody criticizing Philadelphia you did not realize how I think how little value Carson Wentz really had on the market people like nobody really wants him. I think JJ Watts getting a ton of attention Carson Wentz people are very wary. And I think it's really what's really disappointed me. Is that the Bears didn't get him. What did the Bears did the Bears not want him? I don't understand. Maybe they're trying to John Watson feel like the Bears really lost here. He's going to a way better team he gets to play for his former offensive coordinator Frank back in 2017 the best year Carson Wentz ever had in the NFL. He was a before he got hurt. He was an MVP candidate playing under Frank Reich. He's reuniting with that guy that's going to be awesome to got a great relationship and EM the Colts have a great offensive line. "Apparently matt nagy is going to make it to next year. The bears are gonna keep him the head coach. The general manager ryan pays. Who may have been more maligned than nagy.
