Chicago Bears' tweet makes it clear that Andy Dalton is 'QB1'
"Can we say the bears would have been better off keeping mitchell trubisky. Can we or candy. I'm going to say we can. And just in general with all the decisions that ryan place makes. They're probably all wrong. I would probably lean toward the other way just when you look at it on his face. Andy dalton is a lesser player mitchell. Trubisky we saw that with the qbr. The two guys last year. Don't have a bunch of weapons down in dallas still. Couldn't find a way to be able to get it done so that the bears earned were spot quarterback wise than they were. I would agree with you. What is confounding in every conceivable way and it is magnified by chicago. Bears social media yesterday on twitter. The bears posted that last night. That picture you see there of dalton and a bears uniform with a message. Qb one and adam schefter quote tweeting it by saying it's a statement from the bears which indeed it

It was the buffalo bills making a move earlier today. Signing former bears quarterback mitch trubisky to a one year deal. I think this is a very important thing. We're going to do the next couple of minutes. And here's what it is we're going to say stats because really as we keep moving forward into the future and we're moving towards algorithms and for those that want to kind of get scared and kinda be like futuristically were you. Oh my gosh. It's going to be george orwell. it's gonna be all this stuff. It kind of scares me a little bit. And i i mean i think it's going to be positive and you know i'm talking about a i artificial intelligence and you know there's a couple of good like to our pbs type. I know one of them was frontline. I think it was. That really did like a two hours on a i would likely is going to be in the next ten twenty years and it is bigger and more wide ranging i think ninety five percent of people realize and it's worth it. Check it out on youtube if it interests you. But i know even in sports. It's going to be. Hey what does the i say. And then it's going to be able to the numbers say and when we were talking about qbr couple of days ago. Jonas said you know. I don't really trust qbr. Because i don't fully understand the way. It's it's It's it's the mathematics of it kombi. The computation of it and i don't fully understand the computation of it. But you know. I got a sense but he makes a good point right in business. They call that a black box. If or something that you don't know how it happens inside of the box. You just know that it happens like the output is right. It's okay unless the box breaks or unless something else about needing to know. What's in the box. So i think it's a good question for us as a society or individually as we move forward. How much do we want to understand about the stuff we rely on. How much are we. Okay not understanding. But i also think another question is that we're going to dress here is if the numbers say one thing in our i say another. I don't think it's just easy enough to say. Well i'm a numbers guy. So i trust the numbers in jones says. Well i'm an eye test guys. I and i'm not saying that. But i charged trust the we gotta figure out when it is that we trust numbers and one. We don't and i believe mitch. Trubisky looks good under that criteria. Because what we're going to do for the four years he's been in the league. We're going to show the top five quarterbacks you know real quick ragweed fire each year. Boom boom boom boom and trubisky was in one of these top fives. And the case i'm gonna make is the wasn't like a bad quarterback in any other of the. I guess it would be twenty slots. I taw five for four years. So mackenzie re me the two thousand seventeen top five. Qbr case keenum style from fifth. Best to best matt ryan dak prescott. Tom brady case keenum and carson wentz. Yeah see. I think the fact that case keenum was coming up. You said casey kasem is you said case keenum style. That's interesting i mean. He had a good year. but he doesn't take over. Casey kasem now. There's the guy that we can debate. And i think rightfully so debate because that was one of the real shockers of qbr the last ten years. So maybe we put case keenum or casey kasem whatever we want to call them off to the side and say maybe that's example one. I dunno jonas. What do you think a case. Because to me i looked at him even the year. Two after an thought he was he was like maybe the eighteenth twentieth best quarterback no not elite. but it wasn't like he was a non-starter something Was your take on that. I mean did you have any strong tag on that. I actually didn't think that the upgrade from case keenum to kirk cousins was that significant. If at all and i actually think the best the vikings played as a team was with case keenum at quarterback now that you know obviously things had to go certain ways but look they made a run to the nfc title game they were. They were playing the eagles in the nfc championship. Game with an opportunity to advance. And that was with case. Keenum coming if coming in you know after. Sam bradford went down earlier in the season case. Keenum played at a really high level. But it's just. There's been times where you've seen him critical mistakes and things like that and any sort of comes back down to reality. Yeah no doubt in the fascinating thing about the keenum decision by minnesota. Was they literally. Let him go after that year. Right so it's not like you had that monster year then next year you fall back to earth and then they let him go. It's literally well you. You took us to the conference finals. You were number three or whatever in. Qbr is top five and thank you. Bye-bye the real question is since. Qbr started how many quarterbacks were in the top five and in the same year took their team to the final four. I'd say there was probably only like tom brady. There's only been like four of them and one of them's case keenum. We'll check that out on the next break. I so we real quick mackenzie read the five in a seventeen again. Take a breath and then read the five and eighteen. Twenty seventeen number. Five was matt ryan dak prescott. Tom brady case keenum. And carson wentz in two thousand eighteen number. Five was andrew luck than big ben. Mitch trubisky drew brees and patrick mahomes. That's a pretty good crowd right there. Yeah and again. We've got the case. Keenum one example. Now we got trubisky as exhibit two of life But otherwise we've got a you know and obviously matt ryan was right in the range of his. Mvp sees and at that point When he you know he today that name would maybe be a little shaky right. I so we got two years left. Two thousand nine hundred ninety two thousand nineteen last year. Russell wilson deck prescott drew brees pat mahomes a number one. Lamar jackson okay. Now one shaky when they're rijeka. Yeah now that i think. All those guys are franchise. Quarterbacks no doubt about it and lamar. We can question to our ability or if we can catch up but no no. He's performance has been that for sure. I finally last year last year. Ryan fitzpatrick number five. Then ryan tannehill josh allen patrick mahomes and the mvp aaron rodgers so now we had the fitzpatrick conversation already is interesting though that amongst twenty of the premier slots four years five each year that probably three of the best debates in his quarterback. Any good or not you know. Maybe trubisky doesn't get debated and maybe that's problematic. Maybe he deserves that debate. Maybe there was something about hand to people just took a disliking to. I don't know. But i think that hurts them. Because you know if you really think about it if if if you're second year you're five and qbr and your fourth year you've come you finish the second half of the season like a strong any time since then you would say. The middle wasn't gray but people aren't saying that right but now and it's also have you noticed that sam darnold continues to get the benefit of the doubt. But trubisky just railroaded. It's never been above like twenty six. Caviar it's one of the most amazing things in the media that i've seen and trubisky's had a by far a better career than sam darnold. It's not all my god and the funny thing is the people who are on the trubisky. Or i'm sorry the sam darnold. I don't even know kalt maybe. Is there the point. They know they sound goofy so they kind of say a caveat ads. They're saying well we know. Maybe there's some questions at this point of it's gonna come to fruition if you look at his arm strength it's like they're backtracking but but they're still saying which again makes you wonder real quick. 'cause i could've done. It probably made a mistake with the top five so trubisky in his goodyear was ranked. What john mckenzie number three in two thousand eighteen. So i would have just said take top three the last four years who. Who is the worst quarterback than trubisky in the top. Three only case keenum really stands out is so he thought might have been ford okay winds but that was his. Mvp yeah like an mvp. That year is hard to see. No one doubted so. I guess my question you wrap up the the exercise jonas's and and again. I think it's something if we do this in the audience joins in is they're thinking about it. It's really leg wendy. When if because i thought it was interesting and i i didn't think that for in and you're trying to be super analytical about it but i do think that if we fall on each each of us office individually on the spectrum of should be number. Should it be this. Should it be that that we gotta keep an open mind. That was the numbers. Get better as things change. It's going to be an evolution. And and i think sometimes and the thing i give you so much credit for is you really. I don't think i can think of a time and like almost three years now that you ever. I thought you said something. 'cause you felt like you had to because you said it before like i really feel like you keep rethinking this stuff and then you change your mind quick with no fanfare and which is good right because as the information changes. You can't be stubborn about this stuff. Rb that's the way you get you. Get some new information. It's like no. No i gotta i gotta keep holding onto. What are we doing here like. This is supposed to grow with this stuff when you get it but i will say this you are on the opposite end of not having big strong hot takes so in a way if you pounding your fists for three weeks about something. It's harder to backtrack right then. Then it is kinda. Yeah you know. I kind of do think he's good and it's like you know i'm not sure he's good it distances. You know so. But i give massive credit right for the that you talk like a human being talks and and you know on the radio. There's not a lot of those. The fan he's the voice of vegas. Rj bell okay. One topic and then we'll take our last break. This does shawn watson. i haven't read every. Because i would want to re deeply on this. So i'm guessing you've read pretty deeply on it. We d obviously so caveat it for you so you can get right to your take or not take but brain dump on us for is obviously nothing's been proven and innocent until proven guilty but the act of having charges filed. I think it's important to realize. These are civil charges so literally. I could file a civil charge against jonas literally. You think i'm gonna kit here that he abducted the alien that i was that was posing as my child and he ate them. I mean i literally could sue for fifty billion for that. I mean it gets resolved very quickly it would have been thrown out but it still would get five so civil. Accusation is doesn't pass any standard but the idea that all the a lot of people are making the same accusation. They're all line about it saying that it's true i'm saying that there has to be i would guess something similar to it and it's either wasn't true is true by is most likely not just all made up so i guess what i'm saying is we don't want to act like he's guilty at all but we we also got to say it's not just one person so these are things. I think the take seriously the all that said would he would. Have you seen to say like where you think. This has gone. Well the fells investigating now. As dan mentioned in the update. Three civil suits have been filed. And then you've got another a total of nine. Women have reached out to the turn to bring cases against watson and all of the the the details that are that are currently out and some of them are pretty graphic but they're all sort of similar in nature okay sue. These women didn't know each other that it wasn't like they all came forward together. I don't believe so there is that he reached out to graham and he flew them out and then look he. He looked up and he got rusty. Hardin who for people that remember. He defended roger clemens. Like he's a big time offense attorney and so when you see but not to me that implies might be guilty but to me. When you're that rich you gotta get the best no matter what. I would think that this would be easy to to refute. You know if he didn't reach out to these women and none of it was true then. There should instagram. Should have some save the ability to save direct messages. Couldn't couldn't he have had a consensual kind of thing with them. And that's bad right if you're married or but it's not you know criminal also. I thought we had cope protocols in the nfl. How like. There's you're getting massages exactly so it'll be. I think a couple of these happened. During the season one of them was in august and another one was in there. So yeah hey real quick though lasting and i'm going to say this gingerly because but i saw and i again i should've again. It's just. I didn't want to kind of start going rabbit hole and not be ready for the rest of the show but is one of the accusations that oral sacks forced oral sex. Yeah i mean. And that's i mean at that point. Obviously we're not saying anything here. That is an obvious. I mean that's i go to jail for fifteen years kind of thing. Yeah it's it's like there's you can look it up. It's very graphic. So what i'm saying is we're not talking about a me to move. If if that accusations true it's not a metoo movement type not diminishing that but that was one thing and then and what. I mean by. That is the stuff that wouldn't have you know like Chris matthews the broadcaster and msnbc. He actually got forced to retire. And when you went out the door he said hey. Things have evolved and i didn't evolve with them quickly enough in. I'm losing my job over it. And you know he was okay with it you know and we can all debate that but that is different. If something was just fine ten years ago release it was perceived to be and then in hindsight we are critical of it. That is what it is but something. That's a clear broken law that you know a vital criminal act that's a whole different threshold. The and it's a bad situation is so we'll keep we'll keep everyone updated but obviously we didn't want to not talk about. And i knew jones would have all the info we need so when we come back. We're going to give you a little bit more. Nfl kinda rapid fire. Josh will give us about thirty seconds in each. But here's the real key we're going to give you three or four teams that we think are bracket. I'm gonna give you lower. Former Chicago Bears QB Mitchell Trubisky Signs One-Year Deal With Bills
"Announced earlier today former bears quarterback mitch trubisky signing a one year deal with the buffalo bills presumably to backup josh allen. There it is a two and a half million dollar deal with some incentives tied into it. That's injury presumably would be the other scenario. He gets beat out for the backup and he's the third. Is that one. maybe it gets cut. It's a there's a chance he'll be the backup. Let me ask you this question though. Because it's easy and it's if we're making fun of mitchell way or mitchell and that's worthy of being made fun of i think but not this. He's okay right you know. He's making more than a lot of hardworking people. You know literally do in a lifetime in this bad year but they are in the end of these players these reaching the pinnacle of their profession. And it's a billion dollar profession. They make money. They're supposed to make. I mean to me. The beauty of the nfl's rev share agreement. Is they're saying okay. The players contribute fifty percent the infrastructure. The all legacy to have the trademarks team. You know however you want to think about that fifty percent we take the money in. We divvied up and go. I mean to me that means that you can't even debate if collectively that you were jones but collectively with the players deserve their millions and millions and billions ultimately. They do that said we can. Because they're making so much money. We can have some fun with it. But i gotta be honest. I think that trubisky getting resigned by the bears was closer than we thought. Because i would make the following case. Let me ask you joan. What you would have made the odds. I don't we didn't do it at the time but right when this season let's say the regular season ended and those that remember obviously foles got her trubisky came back in play statistically significantly. Better at that point. I would have guessed about thirty percent chance. The trubisky would've had been rinse we signed in some significant way. Not like a five hundred million dollar deal but a real deal. I think the odds weren't worse than thirty percent. What would you have guessed. The is debate. I yeah i would have said probably about the same because that was a lot of the discussions i know in and around chicago that day. Did he play himself back into consideration for the twenty twenty one quarterback job and when i see him getting beat out for the job. I don't mean that. As a slight m i actually think. He's a much better quarterback than people give him credit for. I think for that kind of money if somebody comes in and outplays him buffalo's not gonna be tied to that contract like if he would have signed for seven or eight million
NFL Franchise Tag: What it is and how it works
"What is a franchise tax. So you hear this word a lot. I always used to think franchise tag means. We're just gonna see that player on that specific team for the remaining of the season but there or for the next year but they're a little more complicated in that so every offseason teams have a two week window to plot to a one year franchise tag so once the player gets tagged they can either sign that contract or a long term extension. Which is the more i think. That's the more popular use of the franchise tag because a of teams don't want their their coveted players to hit free agency and they don't want another to swoop them without getting being able to offer them. I so these salaries for for each tag varies by position and the price is set by either adding the top five paid players from each position or it can be one hundred percent of a player's previous year's salary so twenty percent Increase in that salary so by position quarterback at least twenty six million a year with the franchise tag water. She was get seventeen million defensive ends get around seventeen million but less than receivers linebackers get fifteen million and so on and so forth. I think running backs get around ten million so it all depends on how guys are being being paid at that specific position so teams only can use this once a year and they can only use it on one player you can use it on the same player different years but yeah you can only had us one tag per year. There's different types of tags. There's an exclusive franchise tag which means players can't negotiate it all with other teams. There's a non exclusive franchise tag where other teams can make an offer and then The the team that has that player can match that offered and take the player And then there's a tradition. Tax tradition tags are similar to non-exclusive but players get an average of top ten position salaries instead of top five. So there's a little bit of a my discrepancy there and once the tag is applied teams have until mid july to renegotiate the contract. So like i said most common use for these franchise tag is not let a player. They want hit free agency. They wanna keep them around and then negotiate a more long-term deal to save some money and get under the cap for the foreseeable future so these somewhat can be slightly unfair A lot of players disliked the franchise tag for example on robinson is voiced his opinions against the franchise tag because it plays a lot of restrictions on upper-echelon players. So when a player like allen robinson gets franchise tagged they can't really find the real market value because they have that set price on them and if they wanted to go explore free agency then they could go interview with a bunch of teams test the waters and see what their actual worth is rather than getting a set number Just put on them so that's somewhat unfair This makes them have no financial security past one season. So if there's an injury then you know they just their value could just completely plummet. Under the franchise tag now players can hold out. That's really the only leverage they have in the su- situation but you know that's asking a lot of a player to put their public. Perception line put their reputation with the fans on the line and so most players don't do that but it has gotten to that point before so most cases players work at a deal for the tag comes into place in july which is the deadline for them to restructure. Or make that deal. So now i'm gonna get into what players have got tagged so far and What does that mean for. These teams moving forward. I player i wanted to discuss. Is alan robinson so. This one was obvious when it had to be done. Bears have a lot of uncertainty at the at the quarterback situation. So i don't think they wanted to make a long term deal without knowing where what direction they were gonna go with the quarterback. But you couldn't let player of this caliber and a player. This talented gopher nothing in return so in twenty twenty roms a career. High one hundred two passes for twelve hundred fifty yards. And he's only twenty seven which is pretty remarkable considering everything he's been through he had a tornado in two thousand seventeen with jacksonville. And he's really played with really bad quarterbacks over the years he's had blake bortles who's a backup slash bouncing around the league and he's played with mitch trubisky. Who's a failed first round pick for the chicago bears. And he's still been that he's had that production there no matter what. So i really wanna see robinson play with upper echelon quarterback and i just think if you give him a russell wilson someone who's above slightly above average maybe even just average than his numbers will go up. Even more is ridiculous so like i said he's a true number one receiver. I would argue top five in the league. He's either gonna play for seventeen million in two thousand twenty which is what his franchise tag number. I think he's looking for more around twenty million and easier gonna play under that contract or he can hold out. Which i think is definitely a possibility with this player just because of the displeasure. He's voiced on social media and kind of how players of rallied. His teammates have rallied rallied around him and they really want to see him get paid but when you look at the market value so he's gonna get paid seventeen million the tag next year.

"Us a little bit a little bit more about Speak on podcast and also the product on boarders. Just you know. what do you guys do with. What's your ideal customer. We to use web pitches. Because i know you've been. He has put cost you. Get lots of pitches. Every day we do our best to stand out from It's not aggressive sales it's overrated accumbens of of my experience with outbound sales on the matchmaking used to recruitment as well so accustomed to sign up with us. When we guarantee a certain amount of bookings on each month and we have a guaranteed to say you can say not any focused if it's not the right fit and i think it's only happened twice in it was downs more of a personal preference than anything else. That's what we do at speaking folks with the product borders is also like a productized service Me in the found the helen. We saw a need that a lot of people dry. There's a lot of content around lead generation and top of the funnel acquisition. But the but there's just not that much of a focus on activation and also turned reduction. so they're obviously. Some is some content out there but it's a minority compared to the top of the funnel staff so we decided to put our heads together and what we do. We offer a product on building review. So we go through a b. two b. companies free trial experience looking at things like the website will looking at the sign up process. I run experienced as what is the ongoing onboarding on the on boarding emails as well. We just present these back in around twenty twenty five minute video if i'm honest is quite brutal feedback. Sometimes we have to give that caveat back into People wit wit with during the reviews all but we always act as almost like the dumbest of that they will get in that apple because you'll product needs to be that simple intuitive so We've fifty reviews. I think a lot of the things that will be covering today. is really a combination of those fifty product devoting reviews that we've done in the lessons learned from older days. Great man so you've done a bunch of these reviews. What are the combination us you see with. The sales marketing handover to customer success teams for to be businesses. Yes so this is amiss to be a service that you're selling or it could be a much larger a product that you're selling well so one of the biggest pitfalls icy is that Let's start with why it's important to hand over to the customer. Success team properly not comes. Down to customers infill really appreciate it Because if they inflammation falls through the cracks they have to repeat themselves. And that's never a good experience to have especially specialist first engagement. The company wants save kind of signed a line. Oftentimes you see is what i've been in the situation as well that the team point fingers at each other when something goes wrong because no one knows. He's accountable full So having that process in place for the handovers really important. And i guess the most important thing when it comes to the unbolting of new customers that it's really is very very hard to win back. The trust of a customer once they had a bad on ordering experience linked to murphy of sixteen inches of he i think he coined the time. Seeds of chun applauded early and actually starts that planted in the sales prices as well. So maybe i can share some of the best practices that Deploy certainly i think if if i could take full main points. The first is just setting expectations with the customers during the sales process leading the know. What the on boarding process is going to be who's involved what's required from them as a customer verse is watsa expected for us business. Do that's really important in. Oftentimes it might be set on the cells gold all one of the one of the sales goals but a lot of companies. Forget that the They're selling is just one tiny part of their prospects that new customers over job not going to remember everything that you say on a cool Is important to follow up those expectations in in written format so they can always revolt back to another thing which i think was his little. Mr misalignment is not understanding how customers are actually going to measure success as a business you might have an idea of what as maybe success mouse. Things will definitely but you really wanna understand what customers are defining success a third. This is a situation. I've been in before i was in a sales role. I was closing deals. And i just didn't feel confident that the process behind the scenes after the sale closed was good enough. No no the people were going to have a great team but it just wasn't a assessing on easy to fully process so one of the things that we did to become. This was actually have a meeting between sales and customer success to officially handed with the customer. And it's all about sharing the little bits information that your customers have shed with you during the sales process. And they're really nuggets of gold because it could just be one thing they said at the end of a sentence that you realize that's really important to them so is handing over some of the informal information that you received an ulcer from the customer success. be it might not be customer success team. It might be applied delivery or could be you'll handing trubisky. That should be a standard set of questions which cost during the voting candidate meeting. And you know as an excels person it can be a waste of time. Because i just wanna go off in sell But it's really important to get right in over properly. And i guess the fine thing would be to keep the communications auto open with the customer and is often the sales person that gets the blame. If the on boarding process isn't smooth An impact your reputation as as a sales person on also impact the opportunity of increasing the lifetime value through a upsells in cross sell opportunities in the future. Because it's a road the trust of as an individual So definitely having that Donald urban and i didn't think there's anything wrong with a salesperson sending an email a few weeks off the on boarding process started saying. Hey just checking in. How's everything going for you. Oftentimes it's a clear cut handover. Sales never speaks to the customer during the on boarding process. But i really don't think there's any harm in doing so
Philadelphia Eagles trade QB Carson Wentz to Indianapolis Colts for two draft picks
"Story of the day. The Eagles have traded quarterback Carson Wentz to the Indianapolis Colts and oh my goodness. It made me very happy. I was so excited. There's a lot to unpack. I want to start though by mentioning a weird thing first. In the 2016 NFL draft the number and overall pick was Jared Goff. The number two overall pick was Carson Wentz. And both have been traded away from the teams. They were drafted by 19 days apart. Just a weird quick doesn't happen very often the guy a number and overall pick a number 2 overall pick gets traded away. Especially not the quarterback position. Let alone almost in just over two weeks apart from each other. That's crazy. Pretty wild now after the trade the Eagles have a 33.8 Million Dead money. Salary cap charge for the 2021 NFL season what that means I will get into that in a minute. First of all, that's actually by the way the most ever to have dead money cap. I guess charge or penalties by an NFL team. It's so much that I actually thought that might keep the Eagles from trading cars and stuff like that might be so much of a penalty. They're not even getting rid of the guy sounds like they did. I thought it's good for everybody Carson Wentz wanted out they I think we're you know, we'll talk about Jalen hurts in a minute, but I thought it was good to get Carson out of there. It is also kind of weird and interesting I talked about Jared Goff previously very briefly the other the the record for the most amount of dead money against the salary cap was Jared Goff. The Rams amount is 22.2 million dollars off. Beat 19 days later by the Carson Wentz trade what is dead money? You may ask it's basically all the guaranteed money the Eagles still owe Carson Wentz after the trade. So even though Carson is no longer on their team. He still creates a thirty three point eight million dollar cap hit for next year. So over thirty-three million dollars off of the salary cap has taken up for Philadelphia. They cannot use that money for other players. It's weird. It's interesting. It's never that's again the most ever pretty interesting. I was surprised that you know, they still trade off a given that but in the trade the Colts got Carson Wentz so the cold they get their quarterback that the replacement Philip Rivers the replacement for Andrew Luck. I'm happy for the Colts man. They've they've Way to make it work. They lost in Turlock. They had to scramble the Mage Jacoby Brissett work for a year. They made Philip Rivers work for a year. Now. They've got what they believe is their franchise guide Carson Wentz good for them. The Eagles got a 2001 third-round pick for the upcoming NFL draft and a conditional 2022 second-round pick and here's what's really cool. The condition. Is that if Carson Wentz plays 75% off Kohls offensive snaps for next year if it stays healthy place the whole year or you know, it's good enough to be the starter all years and get benched. Then that draft pick goes from a second round pick in 2022 to a first-round picks. Oh, wow. I like about that. People are saying the Eagles got a horrible trade. They got fleeced. It's terrible. Oh my goodness. You gotta realize this is probably the best trade they could possibly find the Eagles traded away Carson Wentz a guy who has an injury history has been injured repeatedly over the years. He's coming off of a horrible season where he was so bad the dude got benched for Jalen hurts a rookie quarterback Club. So the fact that Philadelphia made a trade where they have an opportunity to get a first-round pick that's impressive to me. I think people realize that's the best they were going to get so anybody criticizing Philadelphia you did not realize how I think how little value Carson Wentz really had on the market people like nobody really wants him. I think JJ Watts getting a ton of attention Carson Wentz people are very wary. And I think it's really what's really disappointed me. Is that the Bears didn't get him. What did the Bears did the Bears not want him? I don't understand. Maybe they're trying to John Watson feel like the Bears really lost here. They still got home key who Carson Wentz has problems I think is way better than Mitchell trubisky. So debate that all you want. I don't know how you go. Like. Oh the Bears they got a great quarterback still trubisky. I like it. I think another thing people got realize is that I love the trade for Carson Wentz. He's going to a way better team he gets to play for his former offensive coordinator Frank back in 2017 the best year Carson Wentz ever had in the NFL. He was a before he got hurt. He was an MVP candidate playing under Frank Reich. He's reuniting with that guy that's going to be awesome to got a great relationship and EM the Colts have a great offensive line. They've got to get running game. They've got a great defense Carson Wentz is being put into a great situation. If he does not do well then there's no excuse. You can make he's got great great team around him good support good people. He's getting helped.
Mini-Episode "Answer me this" Guest predictions: Bears QB - burst 2
"First time podcast. Guest longtime listener mark silverman. Espn one thousand co host of waddle and silvy two to six every day on espn. One thousand. I am going to go and i had a list the other day on the show of seventeen quarterbacks who could be hat or who could be on the move and out of all of those if i have to pick one. I'm going to go jimmy garoppolo. I believe san francisco's in a position. Right now where they have a really good thing going and they want to replace jimi g. since he's been injury prone i think you can get jimmy g. for cheaper than he's been whether he's caught you could sign up for cheaper free agent deal. He may want to go back to new england. Maybe bella jack doesn't want him but ryan pace eastern illinois guy also Fellow good-looking guy. Just like with trubisky could veer that way as well. So i'm going jimmy g. And as a close second maybe gruden gets rid of derek carr and the bears would trade for garrett car but those are my two if you force me to pick one. I'm going with jimmy garoppolo.
"Grading Jason's Predictions" - Episode 040 - burst 3
"You said that the cubs would miss the playoffs that year. Two nine hundred and you were corrected fell apart. The bears would make the playoffs in two thousand nineteen. That obviously do not happen and that you would do the dishes at home. You would be nicer. Oh wait that was. One of my predictions never mind. We'll we'll take that one off. Okay i like this here. The end of the summer early fall of two thousand and nineteen are episode. Qb or not cuba's mitch trubisky with nfl networks. Charley casserly. You predicted that kanye west album would come out the next day and it did it. Did that was the day before homecoming. Yup and how do you feel about that that last album so the album suck don't know i i can assure you as they come out. They came out that day at school. I remember right after a test. All right you also said that the bulls were going to make the playoffs and ridiculous and absurd. Possibly forty six wins. Yeah now that has not been happening. Has it all right. We move on then to the cubs new manager episode twelve david ross knock grandpa rossi and that was with author. Dan yeager that joined the show. You predicted that. Zach levine would do the dunk contest in chicago. He'd been not He's not he was going to if you made the all star team and he was stopped so technically i was wrong but he had every intention of doing it until he got from the all sorts of you also predicted that the grammy nominations young thugs albums. So much fun would be not in. I had a huge problem with the grammy. Nominations that you back to back years the rat. Nominations have been just absurd so that didn't happen and actually a lot of Very well well versed people in the music world no pun intended Thought that that album should have won the grammy and it wasn't even nominated how That was incorrect. You also predicted that kris. Bryant would be traded that offseason which would have been prior to last year's pandemic season which obviously did not happen. But maybe it should have right. Maybe you should have happened. Oh no absolutely should have happened. Yeah exactly all right. Let's go to our giving. Thanks on thanksgiving. Two thousand nine nineteen. We did not do predictions. That was a mini episode in. Which you pretty much ripped everyone that you've ever sat next to in my family during thanksgiving that made a lasting impression on my family. Let me just tell you that episode. Fourteen back to david ross. This time with the interview. That i did with david ross. You predicted that. During the winter meetings the sox would sign dallas kaikal. And they did. They did and they did. Yep you also said that they would make a trade for a controllable player defined that and they did make changes. So would you identify someone as a contract player. Think back That they would trade her controllable player. Okay so they did not. But what the dallas cycle was pretty darn big so i'm gonna give that to the clinical moods pretty big. I think should get credit for that.
Bears announce coach Matt Nagy, GM Ryan Pace will return after 'impressive' finish to 2020
"Apparently matt nagy is going to make it to next year. The bears are gonna keep him the head coach. The general manager ryan pays. Who may have been more maligned than nagy. Decline the fifth year option trubisky. But it's still an option to bring him back in some way our jeff dickerson who covers the bears is essentially reporting. Nagy and pace will be back. Our dan orlovsky is voicing his opposition. What has matt nagy done as for his a an organizer as far as a leader as far as a person with foresight within their organization to say yes in that head coaching role. We love them. Now we're going to allocate some of the play calling responsibilities or the offensive viewpoint. Who are we going to give that to. And what has matt nagy done within. That building approve on great in this role. I understand what dan is coming from. But i think in this situation. He has a winning record. Chuck pagano is retiring as a defense coordinator so he's got to his staff and his thought process in his thinking. Maybe there's a guy or two out there that is really good at calling. Plays really good at putting a system in place to make. Whoever the quarterback is going to be in the future for them successful. So i'm okay with them taking a look see. They just went to the playoffs. So you take a look in just poo. poo it. because you've got to restart things all over again when you completely blow everything up so give it a shot in twenty twenty one see where it's at. He's going to be before you make that decision and that move now mr bisky mitch. Trubisky is jockeying for position to come back and be the chicago. Bears starting quarterback again. Now maybe there's a small deal there because they didn't pick up the fifth year option. There's a small little deal. Maybe there's a two year deal. That is a proven deal that he can now show with a new office coordinator his abilities that he showed in north carolina and made them take him as a number two pick overall.
Brees, Saints pull away late for 21-9 playoff win over Bears
"Drew Brees threw for two touchdowns and Alvin Kamara ran for ninety nine yards and a score in the seats twenty one nine victory over the bears Brees tossed an eleven yard TD pass to Michael Thomas to open the scoring he later connected with Latavius Murray for a six yard score late in the third quarter shortly after the bears committed a neutral zone infraction on fourth and three at the Chicago thirteen we're good on third down today you know I felt like we were able to do that well even super long situations were just found out what you guys were able to get first downs but the guys up front until I do a great job against really good pass rush camara made it twenty one to three with a one yard run midway through the fourth quarter the saints kept the bears out of the end zone until Mitchell Trubisky hit Jimmy Graham for a TD as time expired I'm Dave Ferrie
Chicago Bears Lose To Green Bay Packers, But Are Headed To Playoffs
"Patriots aren't even that. Close the steelers at thirty two. The forty niners next. I'll then the cowboys and only then do we get to new england and a few spots down from that we get to the green bay packers and the frozen tundra of lambeau field which is where they could clinch the number one seed through these playoffs if they were to take care of business in chicago. Yesterday dan aaron rodgers putting on a show green that throws out sleep ridiculous finding all the way on the backside and just that flick of the wrist on love. This play realizes pressure doesn't want to get the motion offbeat that blitzing nickelback. I've gotten nbs on a linebacker down the middle feel. That's an easy touchdown. For the greatest quarterbacks ever look at them just a flick of the wrist right up where that trailing the linebacker beautiful play by rodgers and ensuing drive because they were hanging around for much of this this mitch trubisky. This is cole. Command this ball is coming out. And that's the last thing in the world you need to do as the packer defense will celebrate is give more chances because dan you know he knows what to do. Exactly greenwich see the empty. I'm going to scan. I'm going to scan them skin. I got protection that i'm gonna get trailing linebacker. That lime tight end. Linebacker doesn't do his job carrying vertical touchdown green bay rogers in the first half ten of ten. The one fifty five and three touchdowns is that good jones taking it in for score. Twenty eight sixteen bears trying to hang in there and then they're not you got. That seem route your tight end and the safe the amos cla- classes on it. You got across his face. Mitchell trubisky doesn't see the same way as the tight end turnover chicago the packers after the pick. There's devante that's the fourth touchdown of the day for aaron rodgers who puts the finishing touches on. Here's mvp resume and the road to the nfc or through the nfc. We'll go through lambeau field. You don't see the packers on the screen. Because they get the by the wildcard next saturday. You got the rams at seattle. Then later that night it's washington hosting tom brady and the bucks and then sunday. The bears will visit drew. Brees and the saints. That is the way this whole thing shaped up and
"trubisky" Discussed on Strong Opinion Sports
"Let's talk about the chicago. Bears quarterback mitchell trubisky. Here is a fact. it's true. The bears have a winning record with mitchell trubisky as their starting quarterback and twenty twenty. They're eight and seven right now. They're fighting hard to get into the playoffs and if chicago does get into the nfl playoffs. It will be be because of their quarterback. Mitchell trubisky and i have criticised mitchell trubisky very heavily in the past and i stand by everything i've ever said about the guy but i gotta say i. I'm very happy to see what he's done in the last couple of weeks. Wow that's pretty cool I think he's fought really hard through a ton of criticism of the world Especially chicago is. Local market has been very very hard on him. A lot of people. I think don't have the resiliency to keep fighting. Keep battling and Keep believing in themselves to do what he's done recently. And i i as a human being. I applaud mitchell trubisky. I really just from the ability to keep playing well and to keep fighting through adversity. I think it's pretty cool. I think he's playing very well recently. Kind of a weird situation right. Now if go nine and seven and make the playoffs. Can you fire your head. Coach matt nagy. Can your place quarterback. If you make the i don't i. It's a weird. The bears are in a very very weird situation right now. And another fact about the payers says that when they get good consistent quarterback play. They are dangerous team. They can do a lot of damage in the nfl when they get good quarterback play. They've got some good weapons on offense. They've got some good ideas. People hate on that nagy. And i get it. I understand. i think that matt nagy there've been times and mitchell trubisky his career where trubisky's been handed people wide open great schemes and great play design and not taking advantage. I'm telling you. People hate matt nagy. He's done some good coaching in his career. He won coach of the year. One point like people forget. Maggie can coach and when the bears get good quarterback play. They're a good team now. In the last three games. Mitchell trubisky has done some good stuff. He's made some good throws he's been efficient. He's got rid of the been good and quick game. He's made some good throws on third down there a throwing third eleven I think the jaguars. Wow that's a that's a nice throw now. We'll say they beat houston who's four and eleven. They beat minnesota. Who's six and whatever six nine. Yeah think six nine point of the year. They beat jacksonville. Who's got one win..
"trubisky" Discussed on Mornings with Keyshawn, Jorge & LZ
"Isn't it so like today's Sports age that you attach so much significance to what has happened right in front of your face and you ignore what's happened the last three plus years. I mean the bears have had enough time to make a decision on mitchell. Trubisky future and in fact. It seemed like they had done that. Declined is fifth year option. They benched him in week. Three in favor of nick foles and now to his credit trubisky comes back in again against defenses. That reigned in this order guys. Thirty first thirtieth twenty seven and thirty second not that. I'm keeping counting or anything. But he does this and now there's this groundswell of well. He's got to come back next year. I mean i've heard people say the franchise tag guys. The cap is going down this year. You're gonna have a twenty seven million dollar franchise cap a number on mitchell trubisky next year. I don't know if that's really possible. A term deal after declining is fifth year option. I'm not sure if that makes a lot of sense in trubisky probably in his own mind would like baby a clean start from chicago. Did not go well for him as far as his dealing with the public perception and losing his job earlier this year. So you can't rule it out. But i think is the best thing for the bears to do and i think what they're going to do is let's see what happens against green bay if trubisky plays great against the packers and then they get into the playoffs and they actually win a playoff game or games for first time since two thousand ten. Maybe the conversation changes i know. Were just as this instant analysis society. But i think maybe showing a little more patience and seeing how this plays out is the right thing to do jeff dickerson. A bears reporter joins us this morning. There's also plenty on the line for green bay. Obviously the bears winning. They're in they can get into the cardinals. Lost the packers. Win the clinch homefield in the nfc. So it could be really interesting. At four twenty five eastern on sunday to see how the top and the bottom of the nfc playoff picture is determined with two teams from the nfc north battling you mentioned the totality the cumulative statement. Just don't look in front of you. Right for mitchell. Trubisky take a look at the totality of what he's done since he's drafted on that tip. Jeff i'm gonna ask you this. Use the criteria. You just mentioned. And i'm going to be the attorney here for matt nagy three years on the job twelve wins backslide to eight wins possibility of a winning season on sunday. So let's go best case scenario. They beat the packers that means three years on the job. Twelve wins playoffs. Eight wins missed. The playoffs nine wins in the playoffs. In other words. Three years to playoff berths zero sub five hundred seasons in his three years on the job. The way people are talking about this guy. You would think that his record would be far worse. Let's say they win and they're in. He's in the playoffs for the second time in three years. If i'm not mistaken jeff. He was the guy that ended the bears eight year. Playoff drought two thousand and ten year. You mentioned wouldn't he be back if that's the argument. Isn't that a pretty good argument. There's no questions and he was coach of the year in two thousand eighteen in the nfl. I hate to say hate the date. Myself your guys. But i've covered the bear since two thousand and four. They've made the playoffs a grand total of four times since i've covered the bears. Okay to make the playoffs two out of three years. That's like george. Halas mike ditka level here in chicago right. I mean and three years of five hundred football or better now lovey. Smith did that at the very end and then mark trestman had the one five hundred year in two thousand thirteen before that you have to go back to the real heyday of ditka in the mid eighties to find a bears team that for three consecutive years had a five hundred record or better matt. Nagy is young. He's figuring this out. It hasn't been perfect. There've been a lot of problems offensively but the one thing i will say about matt nagy guys those guys. The bears play hard for him. They've never mailed it in. They haven't looked great. But you know when they had lost six in a row they came out every single and they played inspired football and they just play for the guy so i would be of the mindset that absolutely matt nagy hit two years left on his contract he deserves to be back and if they just went on sunday i think that becomes an absolute. No doubt proclamation. There's no doubt about it. On the sixth of december earlier this month on the sixth of december they had lost their sixth straight game. And now they're in a win win situation for the play offs. I don't think you'd want anything more than that. Jeff thank you so much thank you guys jeff dickerson joining us. Let's go from a to z and for disease brought to you by red box. Red boxes new movies at the box in streaming on demand. Don't miss tenant starring. John david washington famous father named denzel and robert patents in visit red box dot com for all the ways to watch. There were ten games in the nba on sunday. That's a rarity but when you're trying to squeeze the season with seventy two ten on a sunday is a lot and the clippers got manhandled by a lot by the mavs first round playoff rematch from the bubble mavs lost that series and they took it out on the clips in a huge way. They beat them by fifty one. The clippers were down fifty at the half. Let me say that again. They were down. Seventy seven twenty seven at the half. They didn't have coli. He got eight stitches after he got hit by little friendly fire little elbow on christmas day. No excuse for the remaining superstar for the clippers yesterday. Paul george the clippers. Just got waxed. Do we got our votes king. Today is.

Can We Finally Trust Baker Mayfield and the Cleveland Browns?
"Kansas city with six consecutive playoff berth. Clinching the spot with what was narrow win over denver mahomes yet another three hundred yard passing game with no turnovers elsewhere. Kirk cousins kept the vikings in the playoff hunt. Three touchdowns helped erase a double digit deficit before dan. Bailey kicked a game. Winning field goal in overtime. Vikings back to five hundred and then is mitchell trubisky and the bears ten point lead late in the fourth quarter fumble leading to a pair of lines touchdowns and the bears lose again their sixth straight defeat after starting the season five and one and that was the conversation. That was focused on quarterbacks rex. Where your mind goes because the bears and that defense had a ten point lead in the fourth quarter. What yeah no. If you're the real deal then that game's over regardless of stupid play by the quarterback trubisky and and the play call the questionable. Play call at that situation. If you're that team the grind clark and i have been on those teams games overdue. It's flat out over if we're gonna show you how good we are. How great we are i instead that team right. There gave up four hundred fifty yards to the detroit lions. Yeah you really that good forget about you wanted your own i did. You never liked the eighty five bears. Well guess what you can't hold their jockstrap. And i'm sick and tired saying that you're good defense. Most talented deep dang danger. Don't play that. Yeah i see look. This is a team that a few weeks ago. I remember we were talking about the defense looking side. I'd the court the offense because they're struggling so much and again. They're in position to win the game. I'm getting so sick and tired of you. Guys talking out of both sides of your mouth. What do we always say. We wanna team to be together. We want total chemistry. We want complimentary cal not a bears fan not embarrassed land complimentary football. It sucked to what we want. Is it this. Why matt nagy was was brought to chicago so to offense defense would be on the same level you have it and get it and you wanna be right. This is not what it used to be. It's not what it even. Starting the season as being is not what we saw on thursday night against the tampa bay buccaneers and the question was asked early on in the season. It does this eventually wear on. The chicago bears defense. That's an excuse because of the field. It's those eleven players that are coach to play defense at at our coach to stop people. And if you to you had a perfect chance to get your team

"Obviously it started with a lovey lovey. Smith did a great job with the. You know the the early years you know. That ole five zero six seventeen of we were loaded with Veteran players ruben. Brown own urlacher. Mike brown the list went on. And on. And i've never seen a coach really defend. Give the rain to The players as much as he did. And and you know guys like brian and mike brown really You know took that responsibility on their shoulders and he's really ran an unbelievable room and let every guy fit in the way they wanted to fit in and i guess i found my niche. And you know like. I said it's it'd be myself and and You know we had a great way to gray larkham. We had a great great
Bill Barnwell on Bears versus Packers
"Watching bears and packers and aaron rodgers to the surprise of literally. Nobody just decimated the bears and mitch trubisky forty one to twenty five so i wanna turn this conversation to the horse race. The mvp conversation because there really hasn't been a wire-to-wire front runner. This whole time. We've seen the pendulum kind of swing. Russell wilson kyle murray. Was there for hot. Second mahomes obviously and aaron rodgers who remains squarely in the thick of it after an off season full of drama around jordan. Love being drafted at quarterback and yet there is aaron rodgers just dominating again robert tanya and guys at touchdown to robert tanya made aaron rodgers the eleventh. Qb in nfl. History to pass for more than fifty thousand yards the second-fastest so where are you on. The whole rogers ram vp. Okay so i. I'm inclined to pick. Patrick mahomes by choice right now. And i think the only thing separating those two with russell wilson third is that one disastrous game. Rogers had against the bucks earlier this season. And i think if you're going to make a case for rodgers. Mvp to start with the idea that he's doing more with less and mahomes has to work with. And wilson has to work with the homes of course has a dominant group of receivers with Terry travis kelsey leading the way. Russell wilson has decay metcalf and tyler lockett and we talked about this before the season. Rogers has devante adams and a lot of question marks. Rogers has injuries and opt-outs affecting his receiving corps from week to week and on top of that. The guys who are extra showing up are posting the second highest drop rate for any quarterback in the league and yet when you put rodgers back there even against a very good defense which the bears are. There are stretches this year. He looks absolutely untouchable. The bears had no answers for him on sunday night. So the other
Rodgers' 4 TD passes help Packers roll over Bears 41-25
"It two hundred first meeting the Green Bay Packers with the Chicago Bears forty one twenty five at Lambeau field for their one hundredth victory in the NFL's oldest rivalry Aaron Rodgers fired four touchdown passes to four different receivers the bears are not dropped five in a row to four to five and six Walt Rodgers has the Packers at eight AM three sitting atop the NFC north to bounce back against division rival in a game that Sir it really put us in the driver's seat play the way we need for the server or game online later you know if you want to be a great scene these are kind of games when I think that's forced Mitch Trubisky into three turnovers including a fumble returned fourteen yards for a score by Preston Smith to open up an insurmountable twenty seven three lead in the second quarter mark Daniels Green Bay
Bill Barnwell on NFL Undefeated Teams + Monday Preview
"Bill Barnwell. It is late Sunday night almost midnight, which means it's time for you to make me smarter about the NFL. I'm going to try my best Baba Bill. Barnwell is a senior writer for ESPN host of the Bill Barnwell show and he's procrastinating his deadline to talk to me. So we just watched the saints and the packers on Sunday night football and the saints lost without. Their Star Receiver Michael Thomas. But that did not stop us from getting a whole bunch of touchdowns drew brees and Aaron Rodgers. Each threw for three a piece. But in the end, the packers won the saints lost and they've now lost New Orleans says back to back games for the first time since two thousand, seventeen bill I know you are writing a new piece about drew brees coming off of the two year deal that drew brees signed in the offseason and what we've now seen from him through these first three weeks what did you see in Sunday night's games he regressing improving? What do we have with bruise right now? Okay. So public drew brees definitely improving this is a better performance from him. Me brees was downright bad on Monday night in week two against the raiders before we got to garbage time and breeze didn't do deep very frequently until this game was out of hand but I think the concerns i. have read or have heard about arm strength or how deep is passes typically go they don't really get how reason this offense actually worked. Breezes sort of like. A singles hitter in baseball like Tony Gwynn lagging time where a post player with no range in basketball he's not going to suddenly start throwing deeply. He's Patrick Mahomes at forty one years old breeze has succeeded. Over the last three years while throwing the shortest paths in the League because he's posted the three best single season completion. In NFL history. Now. The good news for the Saints Good News For Saints Fans is that brees was much more accurate on Sunday night it was twenty, nine, thirty, six for two, hundred, eighty, eight yards a lot of that West Alvin Kamara who did a lot of the work but still going to end up thirty six is still better than where brees was. The bad news was just about everything else. The Saints Lost Starters Jared Cook and Andres P to injuries while devante. Adams List Aaron Rodgers threw for two hundred, eighty, three yards and those three touchdowns you mentioned. The saints focused on adding veterans with nicknames Emmanuel Sanders and balcony. Jenkins this off season. But. Sanders hasn't been able to stand out with ankle Thomas Injured and Jenkins has been picked apart in pass coverage including Mercedes Lewis touchdown on Sunday night the attorney for more accurate breeze that was a bright spot. But if the saints continue to struggle with injuries and get disappointing play from their stars, the Orleans is going to need this version of free stick around to have a chance to compete in the NFC. So the packers emerged three no, and that's where a lot of focus the rest of our conversation here on the teams that are now undefeated through three weeks of the NFL season. So bill, let's push deeper into the NFC here because the Chicago Bears Be Chicago bears are somehow three you know and they do it by beating the Falcons thirty to twenty six Chicago was trailing by sixteen head coach. Matt Nagy Decides to pull quarterback Mitch Trubisky in favor of the veteran nick foles mister big bleep nick himself who goes on to throw three touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. So I have a two part question for you now. Why are the Falcons physically incapable of holding onto a fourth quarter lead and? Secondly, where does this leave the whole quarterback situation in Chicago? Let me answer the second part of that question I. The bears are going to flail by the seat of their pants for the rest of the season I would assume that nick foles is going to start until he struggles and the bears trailing by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter a couple weeks from now, I would point Mitch Trubisky will come in and lead them to victory and the cycle will start the new. Unfortunately I don't have one simple takeaway for our poor friends and Atlantic. Is Different From what we saw in week to as. Much. As the defense was disappointing in this game, the offense really deserves a fair chunk of the blame for what happened scored a touchdown on the opening drive third quarter, and then basically tried to sit on their lead, Matt Ryan and company REPA- total three first downs on their next six is before the bears took the lead back and the only scored one field goal over that time after bisky intercession back running back Brian L. dropped an easy third down conversion which would have put the Falcons and field goal range. Then on the next drive kicker, young coup miss a forty eight yard field goal attempt. I know. I mean let's be fair. The Falcons defense was very bad. I'm not sure the Falcons are gonNA make any drastic changes on Monday morning, but Arthur blank can feel great about seeing this happen. On his seventy eighth birthday and. I believe I'm not mistaken not the only person celebrating birthday on Sunday. Having Birthday Pamela. Day Pablo. Yeah this is a hard way to discover that you share a birthday with the owner of the Atlanta Falcons Bill, which feels like you just cast a pox upon my house.

"All right. So Kevin I, can you remind us of the moves that the bears made at quarterback this off season? Well, Mitch Trubisky did not get his fifth year option, which is when you're on your rookie contract your team to give you essentially your fifth year and guaranteed sour the bear shows a decline that and said, hey, you're going to have to play out this year and be a free agent. So they didn't give him the fifth year option and then they. Trade Fourth Round pick for. Nick. Foles Nick foles going to be on the way from. Jacksonville to Chicago to compete with Mitch Trubisky I would say backup Mitch Trubisky you compete with Mitch trubisky starting. I won't get for they made it very clear. The margin of error is slim that you're if you're not good enough, we have this other guy and nick foles who by the way the superbowl MVP, who's GonNa make it tough for you bears fans it's not much like nick. Foles is Salata don't like mischievous key so much like that's the way they view foles is not the answer is just a he is not the other guy. Well, let's remember there has been a lot of skepticism around trubisky ever since he came into the league including at the draft with the second pick in the two thousand, seventeen NFL draft. The Chicago bears select. Mitchell trubisky. North Carolina. Things just got interesting. Mitchell trubisky. What has been like for bears fans to have trubisky at the helm for the past few years. Seeing the interceptions the airmail rose. What are you doing whereas all going? To Thirteen. Made, MR? Busy polarizing. He was picked ahead of a couple of guys into Shawn Watson. Patrick mahomes that is always going to be a label on. Mitchell. trubisky gets caught trying to force something in there. So bears fans are just so furious that he hasn't been the guy especially when the two other guys in his draft, our stars I want to ask you guys. What did what did you learn about Mitch today and why does it feel like with each game? He's getting worse. Personally I. Think I. Learned that Mitch. Is. Not Growing. I think coaches at a at a at odds with what do I do to help this guy? But there are some people out there that still really really respect trubisky they've seen him put up some great games. Look the guy made the broke hold twenty, eighteen hornet but he's still went when the team was twelve and four. The thing about Mitch Trubisky is everyone in the building respects it is a great leader is an outstanding work ethic. A lot of people there from the owner on down who want mischievously to succeed. But when mischievous he makes a bad throw, it's a really bad throw trubisky. Asking me. A big mistake here by trubisky. An easy. Pick. Frame. And then mischievous you will do amazing things with his arms legs. Tackled masks touchdown. Night for number ten. In its managers like well, why can't you do that all the time so before the season, the bears had trubisky an nick foles battling it out for the starting job and a couple of weeks ago they announced their decision head coach. Matt Nagy. Made it official yesterday Mitch Trubisky will be the starting quarterback in newly-acquired Nick foles will be the backup. What did you bisky say about getting the chance to start over foles especially in the midst of everyone seeming to doubt whether he should be everything he said in press conferences was the right day. He wasn't afraid of the competition. I. It was a good battle the whole time I can't say enough about how nick handle the whole thing how I handled. The whole thing just is a tough situation to be in but I think we help each other and we push each other every day and I think the way we handled it says a lot about how we're just trying to help his team get better. He understood why there was competition. And he was here to win it in the thing about Nick foles is he is the perfect backup everyone you talk to run the League says, the guy is an incredible team. So I think the bears did know that by making this decision, they'd have the right number two quarterback. There were ruffle any feathers but mischievous kiyohiko really took this as the message which is unique to better. Otherwise not only could you potentially not start this year? You might not be on the team next year while. So Kevin with that backdrop trubisky headed into week one of this season, the entrance of Mitch Trubisky, and of course, if you want to come back from a Poor Year you WANNA play the Detroit Lions. If you're trubisky three zero record nine touchdowns and one interception, this is the best. What did you think of his performance in the early part of that game? He had a bad missing. There was a couple of draft interceptions, risky drums it. Nearly intercepted at much as we talk the good about Mitch, trubisky that when he stared down Robinson waiting for him to cut that that was a poor decision by Mr Bisky battle donal over to three quarters. Sitting there being like is it Nick foles time? I think everybody was like occupied. We go up the decision making wasn't terrible but the throws just like word there and they were they were over seven on third down to start the game in a lot of that was on trubisky. So the fourth quarter began bears were near the goal line and they had a third down there down seventeen points. He throws a touchdown pass Jimmy Graham, very easy kind of jump ball throw. Okay maybe they have been the next. Dr. They recovering side, they're all thirty. Two Got Strip sacked a terrible decision on his part in the almost lost the ball. You don't do as a quarterback never real back like that step up we'll take the completion donahue and they lost twenty seven yards on that play, but eventually they get it back. A great. Though by risky matter of fact, we talked about the inaccuracy this right here, extremely active reach out to give the ball back again, and he makes the throw the game. How Money. And it was those throws in the throes of the Ron and commanded the often and keeping everyone focused his eight for ten. In the fourth quarter. You Watch that and you can see why Ryan pace general manager in coaches see that mischievous he could still be. A good. Solid Consistent quarterback.
No Going Back to Normal with Guillermo del Toro, Zack Arnold and Laine Trzinski"
"Welcome to our podcast. It's where we asked some of the entertainment industry's brightest minds how Hollywood might reinvent itself as it comes out of the pandemic coming up filmmaker Guillermo del Toro. But first, we ask our guests in every episode, what they would do to fix Hollywood and we've talked with actors, directors, executives, and writers. But, what about the people on the frontlines the below the line workers as they're called in the business, they do vital work behind the scenes and they have a lot to say about what needs to change Hollywood is going to thrive after the pandemic members of the gig economy people that are creative professional's in. Hollywood, we're essentially chewed up and we are spit out. We are treated like we are widgets we are commodities that can be replaced. That's Zach Arnold he's a film and TV editor. He's worked on shows like empire burn notice and glee he got a lot of attention for a blog post he wrote about what could happen when production resumes the title Dear, Hollywood? We don't WANNA go back. To normal normal wasn't working. It had come from me having hundreds of conversations with people that all said the same thing because of the pandemic I had this immense amount of self awareness of how much I hated my life before all this started. Now that I'm not driving I realized how much I hated my commute now that I'm not working eighteen hours, I realized how much time I lost with my children and I received hundreds upon hundreds of responses I'm still getting them, and I still can't sift through all of them. Arnold's blog is called optimize yourself and gives advice about work life balance, which is really important in an industry that is notorious for grueling hours with no guarantee of steady employment. Arnold shares a story that he heard from film editor Walter Merch, he worked on the Godfather and apocalypse. Now, it was a famous story back in the mid to late seventies about a film that was vastly over budget and had very tight deadlines and everybody was just getting pushed to the limit with twenty hour days and they went to one of the heads of post production at Universal Studios and said, we have to do something about these demands. Everybody is dropping like flies and the response was get more flies. Nothing has changed in the last forty years. It's all about everybody having to create a miracle such that today's Miracle Dust becomes tomorrow's expectation and whatever it takes however many people it takes to figure this out they throw people at the problem and as soon as somebody can't deliver anymore they find somebody else that will and I think this is a systemic issue that needs to change, and if ever there was a time to figure it out I think it's right now the most immediate problem with that get more flies solution is that if someone on test positive for coronavirus, it isn't simply a matter of replacing that person one infected crew member could shut down an entire production. And the safety protocols that you need to prevent that that requires time and attention and money. So what we can't do a separate, the conversation of safety from the conversation of ours because the two are inextricably linked. If you're going to have a safer set, you need to have people that are healthy that have strong immune systems that are not sleep deprived. That are working regular hours. I don't know why it has gotten to a point where. We do work such long hours when honestly to have any sort of life, we shouldn't Laney trubisky is one of the many industry gig workers who read Zak's blog post she's a hairstylist and she's been in the business since nineteen ninety-three. But back in March when the pandemic hit her work stopped Gosh, it's just been ups and downs my feelings change every single day I'm not sure if I even willing to remain in the film business. Because the film business, we had before very stressful and was very hard on a lot of families and people and things have to change their for sure the hours for her makeup teams some of the longest onset they have to be there before the actors arrive and can't leave until the actors are done. Laney says the norm are fourteen or sixteen hour days, and she has worked for twenty four hour days in her career, but she's hopeful. Things will get better. There's so much time entailed in getting our disinfecting right before we even get to work and get to working on the actors that the film business is going to have to slow down I. Don't think it has a choice anymore, and I, think it will be beneficial for all of us. Laney's work requires her to be on set but people like Editors Zach? Arnold. Well, they can do a lot of their work from home. As long as their bosses sign off, just had the conversation this week with an assistant editor who was told that in order for them to be able to keep their job, they have to work in the office and they have to go into a screening room with ten or fifteen directors and producer. They can take notes because that's just the way that it is in its quote unquote impossible to. Work from home we've now learned that's not the case and people are just making these excuses number one because they don't want to put in the effort or number two because they don't Wanna spend the money but guess what disruption is uncomfortable, it is painful but this is the point where we're going to have to fix these issues because you can't just say to somebody sorry informed the standards or we're. Going to hire somebody else while it might have been possible in the past for the people doing the hiring to point to a pile of resumes and say, if you don't do this job, someone else will arnold says that's changing. Now there's nobody on that stack because nobody's willing to go in under these circumstances and that is why I think Cova such an inflection point for post for Hollywood generals that. Before whenever we've thought about what are the consequences? Well, it's going to be really long days and I'm going to be really sleep deprived and something might happen. But what are the chances now we're literally talking about losing our lives if we do this wrong and I think that is the big change that we're seeing just emotionally the groundswell is people saying your entertainment is not worth me giving my life.

"Monday will do the second half hour. We're GONNA look at the thirteen players. Who had their fifth year options decline? Those are the two thousand seventeen first rounders who The teams that Turnley had them just sort of decided they were not going to invest in them for that one more season so we're going to split up. Nfc AFC arena start with the NFC. This week and with that I welcome our special guests. Andy Bhanot joins us to break down the present and the future for some of these guys who are I mean look not all these guys you look at it and say well. This guy's a bus a lot of these guys jury's still out on him and I was excited when you suggested this for the topic of the show. I think there are a lot of directions. You can go with these kind of conversations about some of these guys. Yeah we're we`re. We're going to do this. We're going to basically go down draft order here and again. Nfc this week. We got six of them this week. And then we got Next week we'll have the AFC guys like Leonard Fournette me cooker. Some interesting is there but I mean you know you look at this list and You know a guy like Charles Harris who has already been treated for elite round draft. Pick from Miami to Atlanta and kind of on that Some these guys. Jared Davis is really interesting Reuben. Foster still an interesting player. We didn't expect they pick up the option because of the injury issues. He's had but We Are we're GONNA start our top here and we can start with Mitchell trubisky now. Trubisky obviously the second overall pick of the two thousand seventeen draft the guys in the top ten their fifth year option is for the basically the transition tag value. If you're outside the top ten it's the average of three through twenty five at your position. The the third highest guy twenty-fifth highs bay guide the average of three hundred twenty five. That's get paid So trubisky's number for fifth year. Twenty twenty one. He would have made about twenty four point eight million Understand that the bears don't want to invest that right now and on top of that. If let's say trubisky has a breakout season in two thousand twenty they wanNA keep them if they franchise tag after the season the numbers not that much bigger for trubisky so but they declined to twenty four point eight. We Know Nick. Foles is in there and quite frankly. We've discussed this. Andy foles is probably the favorite might be a slight favorite. But but I'd say foles is probably the favorite to be the quarterback in Chicago this year. That said let's just look at. It is if the trubisky was going to be under center for them to season one thing. You've seen the bears. Do this off season is I mean you know. Everyone kind of laughed at it. I mean they loaded up on tight ends. They have a lot of tight ends and I not the type of thing where they brought in one guy to an already rich position group. They went out. They their first round draft pick was spent on coal command they These free agent signing was Jimmy Graham. They also signed Dimitrius Harris. Who has a history with Matt? Nagy there so those are three tight ends right there. That's that's the math there three ends. This is not an offense that puts three tight ends on the field very often. You would think. Maybe that's something they do going forward. Do you think do you think that's helpful for a guy like trubisky to sort of have all those tight ends on the field? Like what you saw with trubisky's not in the same quarterback stylistically but you know saw with Baltimore. I mean they had three touchdowns on the field of what they did and they had an expansive running. Game centered around it in their quarterbacks run threat. That's really not the bears. Offense trubisky has functional mobility but you're not designing a slew of run. Plays Four Ham. The other thing is the ravens are uniquely. 'cause traded Hayden Hers But last year. They were flexible tight. Internet Mark Andrews is basically a big Slot Receiver Forum in Hayden hearst viable receiving threat. You could argue that Jimmy. Graham and CO commit fit that same description there but what we're talking about overall gear. I don't know if it's a dynamic enough or significant enough package that it would influence how you see your offense. Let's say Matt. Nagy says we wanted to a lot more three tight end this year. Still not part of their foundation. If you ask Matt Nagy What Are you about those? Even if they do more three tight and they're going to be. I mean the Ravens in Tennessee led the league last year at eleven percent of their snaps. We're three tight end. The Ravens had twenty two personnel. A lot of the times and could argue with. Nick Boils fullback or tied in. The point is unless you have an expansive running game. It's really really in fact. Uk It's impossible to justify putting three tight ends on the field on any sort of regular basis. I was GONNA say Mitchell trubisky by the way career. One Hundred Twenty six point three rating with three Titan tight ends on the field Andy on guessing thirteen asses and a lot of them near the goal. Line game guessing so low sample size and rating thing gets skewed because of the value of touchdowns in the. Yeah but listen. The Titans did a nice job with last season guys. That can do everything. Though you have to have guys who can be blockers and receivers and the bears are going for that but my gas Gerry. Because really the key guy were talking about. Dimitrius Harris Reno a commit will be or what they expect them to be. He's kind of a classic tight end. We know Jimmy grams receiving tight end and every team plays with two tight ends. And so. That's that's part of the idea what we're really discussing his will dimitrius. Errors have a significant role with the bears. This season and you can make the argument. Either way I thought Harris was a really good player in Kansas City. He did not become much of a factor in Cleveland. But by the way that was another thing that really tried to do three tight end stuff at times. It never quite took full hold. I can also argue that Harris here because Matt. Nagy just want someone in the room who knows the system in those the offense and that's GonNa make it easier to bring along the new guys Jimmy Graham and coal combat. What so back to Trubisky just overall. If he's on this year what do you do to make his life easier this point because we saw early on in the twenty thousand season? Nagy's first season. The offense is really working. I don't know if it was just a matter of team. Sort of catching up to it. You know we we discussed. It's kind of a lot of bells and whistles before the snap and then Kinda simplistic afterward. And then I mean look you could probably like draw a line of demarcation around like the halfway point in two thousand eighteen season and it's really all downhill since then and and by the end of last year. It looked like he was just just wholly uncomfortable with what he was seeing out on the field. He's at this point. He is not a natural anticipatory field reader. I think he does the things kind of one at a time. And he's he does have probably see it before he can pull the trigger on a lot of designs. That's a discussion of canvas. Get cleaned up as he has more experience because remember only had twelve games starting experience coming out of North Carolina. So you know he really year four. It's make or break of course but you could say that may be get improved experience. He's probably is what he is a lot of people in the NFL would say to me the bigger problem though Gary is let's say even if he is what he is as a field. Let's say you can get better as a field reader? I don't know if he's consistently accurate enough to run the kind of offense that you would want to run with him given his skill set. You know we talk all the time about Cam. Newton Josh Allen. They're not innately accurate passers. But they're unique specimens. They're big stallion. Quarterbacks that can really push the ball a certain parts of the field that other guys don't have the arm to attack and their their weapons in the running game trubisky. Not Either of those thinks. He's a more traditional all around type of quarterback which means if you treatment is said very plainly and it makes perfect sense. If you can't put the ball exactly where you want it nothing else matters in the NFL for a quarterback. It doesn't matter how good you how good you are running around. It doesn't matter how well you read the field if you can't put the ball exactly where you want it on a regular basis. I do Kinda wonder if the accuracy issues are just And I think every quarterback who has accurate at accuracy issues that it's tied to Basically a lack of comfort ability. With with what you're seeing out there. And then he gets uncomfortable because his mechanics breakdown. There's kind of undertow panic to his plays. Yeah I mean you know like like the the metaphor I always give is like if you're playing darts and you're throwing a DART board. That's that's one thing. If you feel like you're throwing it. Just the the bulls eye that That is psychologically another thing for a for a fine athlete who was Playing darts in a bar but yeah as far as it goes like I just. I wonder if you could do something where he just felt comfortable enough where I mean. Maybe it's just like I mean. Maybe maybe it's just a lot of one read stuff. Maybe the second reheat is. He's tucking the ball and running. We have seen him. And I'm not GonNa sit here and say he's in the class of of a of Lamar and Cam Newton Josh Allen. But he's done some decent self with his legs. You saw it in two thousand eighteen. You saw it less last year. That might have had with the separated non throwing shoulder. They might have scaled that back. A little bit but It seems like it's an option for him. It is but I don't think it's an option for the coaching staff. The guys at you do the one read and then take off. Or let's really simplify the offense. It's for guys who were a probably a little bit more. Purely physically talented either faster guys as runners or high an armed talented trubisky has a good arnold. It's not painted like he's like he's not but you do it for special players who are young and you have reasonably. We'll get better. I can't think of a quarterback in his fifth or sixth season even in his fourth trubisky. Where that would be acceptable offense to run unless you are just immensely town. I mean and even then you know at some point you have to be able to be a full field. Reader coaches are not going to let their offense stay neutered for several years. They don't have the job security for that all right well if If we see him on the field this year certainly a something of a make or break season for Trubisky as far as is Chicago. Future goes And again we've disgusted. There've been guys who have been really bad in the first couple of seasons who have who have been broken out after that drew brees is a guy we brought up as was probably the worst starting quarterback and football's first few seasons and then really had that breakout years third year. I mean that. That's that's why they drafted Philip rivers there to take over the reins from a very bad drew. Brees on Sunday drew brees great Probably probably not the projection. You'd have for Mitchell..

"Hall of fame ski is what it is. I mean, he likes snacks. I mean loves Loves me me. like. Like breed. Yes. Would you like to turn that? I don't know. Do you have a go-to? And in fact, let's do this in reverse order Mitchell. Do you have a go-to creed song that you would sing in karaoke? I do not. I did not. I think if I did a song my go doing the passage drops of Jupiter, and that's it's not that good. So I wouldn't I would not I'm not supposed to carry. Okay. Okay. So you're you're with us here on behalf on behalf of gone rogue snacks. And we've had a number of food questions around here that have been a little bit unanswerable suco who's going first we're going to allow Mitchell Trubisky to be our arbiter here on food related items arguments that we've had here recently which bag at the Riedel's would you like to go with red blue. Go with the rabbit classics. Oh, wow. I'm sorry. Roy is in very hurt by this necessarily. Oh, we gotta go way back with this one is a hotdog a sandwich. No, it's a hot dog. Wow. These are very definitive answers that he's giving us. And this is him coming strong with his opinions. What else you got Billy? All right. Mitch mitch? Okay. Let me ask you. Let's say your hand each one of your fingers was a dispenser of a condiment which five condiments. Would you have your hand? Dispense. Honey mustard buffalo ranch. And and read have been gret. Where's barbecue mayo? Now Mitch we had a little debate on this is butter a condiment because if you gotta use butter because the way we played the game was you could only have these five condoms for the rest of your life. So you have to a big decision and is butter on. Do you want to change any of your answers? Mitch you seem to be badgered about this. So would you like to any of your answers? Are you going with those five I would have? Yeah. I wanna change them. How would you gotta add salt and butter in there. He got a so then you gotta talk what you taking out out. I would take out ranch. And Honey mustard. Okay. So is that he's very quick decisions. He makes very quick decisions. He's very decisive here. What else do we have for him in order to clean up some of our food controversies Mitchell hall of fame ski, thank you, Stu God's? I'm ask I want to know what your top three chips. Are. We know you went read to read over blue. But if you're just going the whole chip category. What are your top three chips? It's a good good place for gone. Rogue snacks. I think. Yeah. I I would have to go with gone rogue high-protein ships. I've got the best ship out the right now because it's seventeen grams of protein per day, and they got four great flavors chicken taking chicken teriyaki, buffalo style and barbecue out there right now. And it's it's crunchy like a chip except it's healthy. And it's got a lot of protein in it. So it's kinda like they it's smoked lean chicken. That's crunchy like a chip, but it's protein-rich like jerky. It's like the best out there right now, if you're not he meant I don't know what you're doing. You can get it on Amazon right now gone rogue high-protein chip. So that should be your favorite one right now. I mean, there's only one answer. Your next obviously on condiments and food as we've learned am I allowed to put mustard on cheese steak. No, no, you're not. What about mayo? Now, can you catch up on a steak? No, there's Magna. Thank you, not put anything steak that how do you like steaks? Do you like it? Well, done medium, rare radium medium. All right. You guys can't come up with questions fast enough. Can I put catch up on hotdog? Yeah. What's your favorite type of fries potato fries? Waffle fries. Sweet potato size for sure. Mustard Honey mustard, if you if you could only have one hot dog for the rest of your life or you going.

"Because now that just in harbors and coming out from Oregon, Dwayne Hoskin looks like the consensus number one likely, and they might have to fight the Jaguars treat up for them. What are you gonna have to give up to get him? And we're gonna have to go. You gotta go to one you've probably gonna go to one last year to get to three from six. What are the jets have to give up? I think they had to give up know, obviously, the flip their first round picks. And I think they had to give up two seconds yet, two seconds. Maybe a I I it's a lot and has to go over a QB draft that had fried guys in the first round you're talking one to three other. If he guys supply and demand is going to be the name of the game and the giant. Have a third round pick. So that's going to be an interesting situation that we're going to be tracking in the off season. But back to our men Mitchell Trubisky, we had to get in get that in there that you mentioned you lie. So more pro football focus, charts depot accuracy for throws beyond twenty yards in that category. Mitchell Trubisky ranks twenty fifth right behind that Prescott. Right around Ken Newton who played a good deal the season with the bum shoulder right around guys like Nick Mullins, Josh Allen. But not unlike Josh Allen the bear still take shots Trubisky is unafraid regardless of the results to push it down field. And this could be a major factor in this game. They have the second highest deep ball frequency and of all quarterbacks in the league right now that have taken most of the snaps for the team, but they're also Trubisky as tied for third in deep ball interceptions. He has seven touchdowns six interceptions. When throwing the ball deep. This creates an opportunity for the eagles defense who has been much better Accoring turnovers on defense than they were before. Or the by new Sienese interceptions. And I watched all of them this morning all twelve of them this morning, and what happens on these in your opinion. What's the cause? Is it more about what the defense is doing or these mental or physical errors from Trubisky or is the answer somewhere in between and a mix of all of it. I wrote over pro football weekly that if I were Matt Nagy whenever their season ends whether it's this weekend next weekend beyond I sit Mitchell Trubisky.

"Well, I'm getting worked up your dog right last at you say you don't trust Mitch Trubisky against the eagles. You know, how bad that eagles secondary's? They've been shredded by every Mitchell Trubisky quarterback shoot trubisky's kill them. This bear. He's gonna kill them. All goodness. And Cody parkey is a major issue. Okay, doors. He can't kick it Soldier Field. My question was foles. Magic doesn't mean. They won't win. I just I think the bloodbath. You got pro bowlers on all levels of that Chicago Bears. Either nasty you're not beating those bears. We've got about any Jackson. He's doubtful with a high ankle sprain. That's actually a big loss. We know he's one of the best playmakers list. But when you go by position level by level as he said the bears eagles very have a roster. Very they had you top the bottom into the end, Ethan. They do have a lot of those guys reciprocity. All those winds Carson wits, by the way. Like, Noah's points out. Carson Wentz was active last week. I it's not out of their own possibility. Carson Wentz comes in and plays this game. Right. Like, not crazy. Sub-field wasn't bad. That's awesome. The redskins. Not having. Jay zodda. And Jason McIntyre our back. Let's move to Kansas City where the raiders season Mercifully came to an end yesterday with the loss to the chiefs, but the drama of Jon Gruden era looks like it will continue into the off season with the team reportedly hiring former NFL network analyst, Mike Mayock as general manager. Doug, the raiders now have to TV personalities running their team his going to work commitment to excellence the commitment to extra mint, right? That. That we're getting I think both of you guys know this. There are people that are on TV that cover sports, and there are people that are kind of all about the sport that they cover, and I do think that make is is like that. I think Gruden was a football guy who became a personality not a personality became a football guy as well. I think it does work, and I'll tell you why he's not gonna be doing normal GM stuff. They have they have cap guys. They have contract negotiators and they have Jon Gruden who's gonna call all the shots. What he's gonna do his player in talent evaluation of all the rosters in the NFL because they have so much cap space and of all the draftable and undrivable players in the Nashville bowling fund me Philip Lindsey, get me a guy seventh round or not drafted that can make my team is running back. Find me a quarterback to ultimately replace their car because I can wash my hands of Derek Carr this year or even better next year. When it doesn't hit me in the cap, I think that's going to be his job. And as long as he stays in that lane and understands that. He's not making the calls at the end of the day that groom's making the final call. Why not this has been his life in that? He loves loves the draft. He loves knowing personnel. Maybe too much so because it took away from his broadcasting skills. Get so much in the breakdown. But if you just does what he does best, but he's hired to do. I do think it will actually work. This is why will not work was the last time. You you signed up to be micromanaged. You have not I doubt it. And if you have something's wrong with you. But this is why won't work because Mike Mayock he is he is very talented and gifted at what he does with breaking down talent. What he sees being able to assess personnel which just suggested that he'll do you're right. But he can offer you even more and he's going to want to do even more. I'll tell you why. He's so special.

"You guys can download on ESPN app, apple podcasts. And I think they just hit me hinted that question, but it's one I think that bears exploring Mitchell Trubisky who's into year two of his tenure. Now's in NFL quarterback. Sam darnold year one Sam darnold with way, fewer weapons. I think an offense that's less apt to put him in successful positions. Although you've got a great sort of coach and mentor and Josh mccown, and I say coach without joking. We know Josh mccown role in this offense versus Mitchell Trubisky who has got far more weapons around him a coach who understands and come from a place where they put rookies in a better position exceed and who has had some strong outputs. Allie. Our producers got him on his fan is her fantasy team. And just as an idea. Al you said there's been one game this year. We're Mitchell Trubisky has been in the lineup and put up fewer than twenty fantasy points. Yeah. And I took them out. And then the next week he scored forty so we all remember where we were that six touchdown, Mr. Trubisky performance. But you get that idea that evening games. He's looked bad. Because last week he was legitimately bad when they played the patriots. Mitchell Trubisky in my mind was a big reason why they lost that game. And yet he's still puts up those kind of numbers that when you look at the statue don't seem to indicate that he's the problem. But you see that. And you see the place he's at who. Would you rather have right now who do you feel more comfortable with their situation is it Mitchell Trubisky and all of the things he has around him the reasons to succeed and the talent that we know is there there are things that hint that he can still develop into the guy you wanted to be or is it Sam darnold who also limitless talent. Maybe even more talented singularly. The Mitchell Trubisky in a place where we're not sure who the coach is going to necessarily be next year on the coming years. Not sure who the weapons around him.

"Brady this week bears host New England to feel game according to Vegas, and Mitch Trubisky came out yesterday and he said, it's awesome. It's going to be cool. I'm going to face Tom Brady. So you'll have some comparisons when they play this weekend. People are going to say, you know, Tom Brady and Trubisky look, how better Brady is then Trubisky here's a comparison. It's incredibly fair, and it's going to be kind of fun to watch. Jay Cutler. The former bears quarterback and Mitch Trubisky. They are opposites. One, nobody liked and Trubisky everybody likes now. Jay Cutler massive arm. No mobility Trubisky great mobility week arm. But the difference between them is that Cutler who had the super arm and nobody in that locker room liked him in in my years of doing this of doing what I do for a living. I have never had a star quarterback in the NFL, get bad mouth more than Cutler executives. My scouting sources, my player sources. Nobody liked him in the room and he eventually underachieved Trubisky. I've never heard more players say they like him. My sources, my everybody in Chicago loves him. He's a total dude, dude, guys guy really humble. What's interesting in Chicago is will the result be different? I don't think the result will be different. I think eventually Cutler was an unlikable gifted arm who supported, and I think Trubisky will be an in. Incredibly likable, gifted athlete who will never get you to where you wanna go. I think there's a real ceiling with Jay Cutler because of his personality, and there's a real ceiling with Trubisky because of his arm. But the difference, I think they're both going to get you to about the same spot. You can lose a lot at Lambeau. Watch Aaron Rodgers, beat you late. You're gonna have mostly a defensive team that runs well. And in the end you're going to be disappointed with both, but Trubisky people love him in Chicago, the players love him, the coaches love him. The owner loves him. The scout love him. He and Cutler are literally opposites one with the arm, one with the legs. One unlikable one totally likeable. But my question is, does either at the end make you happy because in the Jay Cutler you like didn't like him and it didn't work here. You like him. And I don't think it's going to I, I like the bears, but I think against Aaron Rodgers next five years. You're going to get frustrated. You're going to get frustrated, lose Narran riders on those back shoulders rose because there are limitations with forbi- ski. It's gonna be a fun game to watch. Don't compare them to Tom Brady. That's not fair, but he and Cutler. And you know, it's funny about j. ever watched that show very Cavalieri that internet that reality show with Cutler and his wife. I mean, he ain't acting. That's who he is. He's the world's grumpiest guy, and he's just a very difficult personality, good Lord that he has an arm code Laura smart guy Vanderbilt, but he just struggled. Leading dudes do unlike him. Trubisky is.

"Every get your shows. Mitchell Trubisky is put up great numbers of past two weeks, but is the young quarterback really getting better plus look at a Cowboys dominant defense and upcoming matchup king that saints number one scoring offense versus the raven number one scoring events. And we also have many questions jopacks future forty Niners first, rounders and automatic. First down to the penalty. Let's rhythm. It's all on the NFL Dodd podcast. Hello and welcome to the m QB NFL deep dive podcast. I'm Gary gramling. He is. And even if a couple of weeks, seven headlining games to talk about. We also have been E mail bag coming up, but Andy were. We're starting. I just wanna point this out. We have gotten an influx of Besseges from angry bears fans who are saying. We are Mahomes apologists at the QB and we are Trubisky haters. I don't know why that would be because we did some stuff hundred Gumbo lead up to the raft. He's a very nice man. Yep, he knives over. Yeah, we bonded over how I met. Your mother had happened to see every episode that year. I didn't sit and watch it, but it was one of those. I have it playing when I unloaded the dishwasher and that kind of thing, and we got along quite well. Here's part of the reason that as much as I like Mitchell Trubisky that people would say, we're Mahomes apologised Trubisky haters Mahomes is significantly better than Trubisky and you have to start there? Yes, that is good place to start. We're going to start a, we're going to start patriots bears here. That's the first game. We are breaking down the turn of the one o'clock's on Sunday, a rare one o'clock game for the New England Patriots. But let's talk about Trubisky that because there's, there's there's no denying. Statistically he has been very impressive over last games that would be the blow out over Tampa and his numbers were good against Miami. My my opinion, Andy, my unprofessional opinion is that he is missing. Too many wide open throws still, and he got away with a couple really ugly, throw his back across the field on Sunday that obvious no show up on the stats. But maybe that's just me what. What have you thought of his most recent two games here? Yeah. You mentioned that on the the when we recorded Sunday night or very early Monday morning and I put on the dolphins film and kind of thought. All right. Let's say I'm gonna. I'm gonna be the naysayer Gary here because I can see everything and see the all twenty two. He didn't get to look at that on Sunday, but no, you are exactly, right. I mean, he was he did miss on some throws. He did miss on some reads, there's some stuff to work on with Trubisky his pocket movement kind of ties to a lot of this as well. None of this is abnormally mean we're talking about fundamental mortar backing issues, and it'd be it'd be unusual if the guy or developed here than less developed. It's not, you know, it's hard thing. It's nuanced quarterbacking, but I do think he has a ways to go..

"Oh five nine FM Ichikawa go Tom, we appreciate you taking the time. What did you make of Mitchell? Trubisky historic game with six touchdown passes. Well, you know, I can't say the bears expected this because he's faced a couple of difficult weeks at the podium because of his last few performances. And some of the media members have been pretty rough on him, either decisions versus bliss, let's his or obvious open receivers that he's missed in one way or the other, but everything that Mitch is done poorly add up to this point. He did really well at today. It was the right decisions. It was the right place call by Matt Nagy in the first sixteen they had eight passes and they arrived, and then they were able to keep Tampa Bay off balance. So I everybody understood that it was going to be a process for Mitchell Trubisky to understand the terminology of this offense, and then DNA able to make use of it in some difficult situation. So far Green Bay in Green Bay and in Arizona, but it was more of a bears crowd. But I think this was a breakout game that they were looking for. I now, I hope they don't think that it's going to continue at this type of record setting pace. I was really impressed by the formations. I mean, just a lot of bunch routes and he had to be patient to be able to hit the receivers as they were coming open and have to anticipate a lot of his throws really like the way way offensively they gave kinda gave him a nice look. Is that something that you see that's going to go forward? Or is that just something that just happened? Because of the defense of the buccaneers wasn't very good today. The personnel of the bears is kind of unique in the fact that they can go to the line of scrimmage in a formation and then they can break off and you can have Taylor Gabriel, and you can have to recall, and and you can have Trey Burton, and you can have Alan Robinson and other guys, you know, the Jordan Howard and Kevin white, so on and so forth. But when you have those groups of weap- weapons, and then you can put them out there at the line of scrimmage, you're not gonna have matchups for guys like three colon and Taylor Gabriel and Trey Burton one there at the line of scrimmage, and if they wanna try to take Allen Robinson out of it, which is been most of the attempts and t was targeted twelve times in the Green Bay game and caught eleven of them, something like that. So then it's about who else can Mitch go to..

"Another game that i found pretty interesting was chicago at new orleans it was a toyota's will game will let's was pretty much the mvp for the saints take them ron he made it was two extra points and i think to feel goals are three fuels yeah so is around there and that's how they got their twenty along with the marking from touchdown but i want to talk a lot mitch trubisky so he everyone's been talking bar he's not really throwing the ball that much and he's not his stats aren't that highs not getting touchdowns would if you watched the game he's making like really great throws and that's really what should should impressed you about him he's not gonna have all kinds of crazy stocks is not gonna throw for three hundred a game three touchdowns or anything like that this season because i feel like chicago's is trying to ease a man and plus they have jordan howard and he's doing really well this season with the workload that he's getting he's about twenty five or thirty carries a game around there and like i said he's doing really well and they got to rico and out there out of the back feel he's really good receiving back so that's a good weapon for trubisky to have in plus trubisky receivers are really all that they're not all that great i mean they have talent stuff like that but they're not top receivers by any means mcbride had a pretty good game this paradigm against new orleans but like i said they're not really blow the top off you type of guys so as far as tribute ski goes i feel like we should more be paying attention to the throws he's making rather than his stats because he's ninety get it a lot of opportunities to throw the ball but there was a play where it kinda pretty sour because his words zack miller through um dissipated his knee.

"So awful that it was beautiful to see drew bisky doing what he's doing that's number one number two think about who drzewiecki has to compete against okay you talking about my glenn who looked like a deer and headlights that he looked so bad not only did he look bad in the game he looked bad at the podium after the game talking about it does look like a quarterback that can galvanized the truth let me just stop and he's lucky to be the legal cake then you've got missed the putt fumble themselves mont sanchez what we really supposed to get excited because mitchell migita risky showed up against the third string in his first preseason gave stop it was good that he looked good i respect it i appreciate it and he'll probably be the starter because look at his competition but does it mean i was wrong about what the bears ended up giving up to get him absolutely not my position has not changed well first of all at in was the best backup in the league i think most people would agree with that he was in a leap backup quarterback who is now one of the lesser starters in the league and actually colin kaepernick is now a bag it doesn't mean isn't even a backup it he's a started what kind of sense does that make but glennon's not terrible stephen a even though he won't go yesterday he's not a terrible quarterback trubisky looked good i mean it's like everything are telling you about how conor mcgregor has no chance against mayweather he's not gonna lead to punch if after the first round mayweather was taking it easy in congress on how won the first round woods as someone asked me do i think the outcome of the fight would change i still say no but i got to admit some stuff already happened that i wasn't expecting trubisky didn't look just look okay he looked excellent.
