Capitalizing, awesome turnovers on downs for Baylor like we saw deep in their own territory. And again, to come in when you're not in the guy starting off the jump. We know he's prepared. We know he's played a bunch of really good football in a Kansas state uniform, but to come in and release like that. And immediately be so steady and to have that offense, not miss a beat. As you operate it, Kansas state like Baylor does a lot. There's a lot of movement, a lot of shifting and a lot of motion. So will Howard is donuts for you. Congratulations, brother. He you would not have believed if you didn't know that he was the backup quarterback and had been inserted into the game due to an apparent injury by from Adrian Martinez. You just wouldn't have known with the way he played. Guy with plenty of starting experience in this uniform. And when you listen to coach Klein and talk about him, says that he's a guy who knows he's a competitor. He wants to be out there. He wants to be the starter down and down out. But also knows, all right, I got to roll the play on this team right now. I am going to be ready. You got two choices to play right if you're in a situation you don't like. You can either sulk about it, you can not prepare the right way. You can have a negative attitude, or you can go out and do it will Howard's done. Prepare like you're a starter, which is hard when you're not getting starting reps in practice. And then go out and execute in a big time environment on the road in a conference game. I'm trying really hard not to laugh at you for a second. Is you're making a very important point because your mouth and your teeth are bright blue. You know how long I've been fat too. I had so much donut chipmunk in my mouth. You know how much practice I've got eating and talking with I am my father's son. My bloodline runs thick with lots of sugar in our blood, which is a separate conversation, but also the ability to go ahead and do just that. Oh, you've done it all season long, where similar to will Howard, you would never even know that you were taking down a donut while you're talking. Pressure makes diamonds and donuts. I don't know if that last part's true. Let's just replay the game slow. Well, first, a couple of contenders, I do want to give a shout out to Kobe savage. I feel like, of course, it was will Howard coming into the game and the way he was able to spark this offense after Adrian Martinez went to the sideline. But I thought that it was his interception very early on that felt like everything was within Kansas state. Just completely turning the direction of this game and it just stayed that way and Kansas state was able to maintain it. So I thought that was a huge interception in the first quarter. I also considered in this matchup to Ben sinnett to its 7 catches for 89 yards two touchdowns in this game as well, including one for 23 yards or a catch. I should say for 23 yards in this game. He was just go to so steady with a backup quarterback in the game. Career high for him, which is the second time now we've had Ben sennett in a game where he's gone for a career high in catching and in yards, career highs earlier in the season and their win against Oklahoma. Remember, college football Saturday night, now 9 and two on the season for home teams, the only road team that has managed to win has been Kansas state now twice. And Kansas state. You want to have us around? Yeah, listen, apparently. Well, Benson, another candidate here, but my sweet player of the game is I pick up looking like this pink with sprinkles and the sprinkles appear to have those ghosts on them. That appears to be a little bit of Halloween hangover. I'll take it. They didn't get the message that Christmas time is here, but I get it. You got the sprinkles and stock, you gotta use them. And my sweet player, the game, is also going to be will Howard because of his composure, his execution, you mentioned nearly 200 yards, three touchdowns, not skipping a beat whatsoever without Adrian Martinez. I do want to give a shout out since we didn't nominate him for the sweet player of the game. "Freshman cornerback Jeremiah Irby from menlo Atherton across the bay as the bears get ready to take on the Oregon ducks today. Thanks for taking the time. We appreciate it. First of all, just talk about being a true freshman getting a chance to play. You've got more and more time as the season has progressed. You're coming off the bench. She originally and then you're a full-time starter. What's the transition been like for you? The transition has been like really good. I mean, a lot of the older guys and everything have been helping me along. And it's just once I really got down on the playbook and everything is just everything's been coming a lot faster and coaches are still giving me pointers 'cause you know they got a lot of more knowledge on me. So it's just taking in that knowledge and taking in all the information and applying it onto the practice field into the game and just allowing me to play a lot faster. You know, in high school I would imagine most of the teams that you faced might have had one good receiver. Now every team that you face, I mean, I look at some of these teams, look at Arizona. Look at Washington this past week. Washington state, everybody's got good receivers. So what's it been like for you knowing each and every week, you're going to face up against a really good player. I'm saying you got to pack your lunch and just come with your a game every down every game just knowing that, hey, this guy has the ability to embarrass you this play, you know what I'm saying? Take you over the top, you know what I'm saying? So I was just packing my lunch and coming with it every play, you know what I'm saying? The same intensity and being in competitive as I am and just bringing that to the play every down is just how I get through it. Jeremiah Irby joining us on the Bud Light tailgate show bears against the Oregon decks coming up pretty soon. 18 tackles so far, 5 breakups and one really impressive interception against UC Davis. It was on the side of the field that I'm on and I thought for sure Jeremy that that was going to be a touchdown or at least down around the two or the one yard line. And you came out of literally nowhere to get that ball. Your range has been pretty impressive so far. Having been a high school whiteout and a DB. How has it helped you having been a former wide receiver to play defensive back? Being a former wire receiver is just help with ball skills, you know, being in weird positions, making a catch is not something that usually someone that's always been a DB has been put in. Catching us a ball over the shoulder, you know what I'm saying? Why are you leaning back? It's very different at a DB when you're coming when you're most likely breaking down hill on a lot of passes. And route recognition as well as help me a lot knowing certain steps and when guys are gonna break routes off and if they're turned this way or certain way, so yeah, I mean, being a wide receiver has helped me a lot because I know a lot of things that they look for and so I could pick up on them faster and be able to just make plays on them. Also being 6 foot two, you got that height that as we look at wide receivers over the years, they seemingly have gotten bigger and bigger, taller and taller, so it's 6 two, that has to help you a lot. I would think. Yeah, just gives me a lot of range as well, you know what I'm saying? My long arms and everything, just allow me to play better on the football in the air. So I just use that to my advantage when I'm impressed a lot. And just make plays on the ball, just using my link. Bears and the Oregon ducks coming up soon here on the radio network, you're going to face a former teammate this week. Troy Franklin, he's having a really good year for the ducks. He had a phenomenal catch last week on a deep post route against UCLA. What do you remember from him when your high school days as teammates were being played? Just like me, he's a very lengthy guy, likes to use his strides and everything. So, I mean, no one him is going to be fun. He's going to bring intensity, be competitive, just like me, so I mean, every down is just, I'm just ready for the excitement, really. So yeah, it should be fun. Knowing him, he's probably looking at me scheming, you know what I'm saying? Just like they're going to do. And we're doing the same on him and the rest of the wide receivers. But for me, that matchup for me is really locked in and I'm really ready for that. What was it like? Is he a guy? Are you a guy that like to chatter back and forth? Well, what's that going to be like Saturday? I wouldn't say we both chatter back a lot. If one of us make a good play, we might make, you know what I'm saying? Say a little something. You know what I'm saying? You got to pick up your game, but I feel like in high school we're really competitive. We might not sit a lot towards each other, but we set it to us just being competitive and bringing a lot of intensity to it. So yeah, well, it's all part of it. It should be a great matchup. One of the really good matchups in this game is their offense is probably the strength of their team. Cal defense, the strength of the bears team as well. So it's really a good matchup in the game today. We wish you all the best of luck. "Tuesday on college sports now when I joined roddy Jones and Stephen hartzell to recap tonight's game and everything else that happened this weekend in college football. From the near hash line trips right to wide receivers to the other side first and ten from their own 49 mix has a clean pocket. He'll quickly get it away complete to cam McCormick. He goes out of bounds inside the 50. This is what we talked about going up tempo and giving Bo nicks a clear picture. And again, when you get a defense that plays as much man as Stanford does over 50% of the time on the season, you could use a lot of these pre snap motions to give your quarterback a look and to give your receiver some leverage on trailing defenders. Second and 6, four 30 on the clock. Nix is gonna hand off it is Irving again trying to push the pile he is getting plenty of yards after contact that one a 7 yard gain up the middle. It's a good personnel game to play because you got the returner off the field by putting your offense back on. No one to worry about covering down on. And when you've got a quarterback, you can count on to pooch punt one of those down near inside the ten, you give your defense a good chance with the offense backed up. And why not? It's just got to be a fun thing, I think, too. It's always fun. Quarterbacks are like everyone else. They want to show off alternate skills that they've got. They played three times in high school and Bryce got him two to one. So you got the two top quarterbacks battling high school. Nobody said that stuff about Bryce, but a lot of people said it about DJ. You see it popping up still in college today. Let me ask did we overrate him or is he just not one of those strong Clemson teams we've seen in the past? No, no, no, he will now one thing he could do was just straight spin it, man. You talk about 30, 40 yards down the field between a safety and a corner. I've watched him drop some beautiful balls into his receiver Hudson at the time and now up in Oregon, who's their slot receiver there who's a speed guy and he's got, he had all the goods. I just don't know if he ever really worked on the mechanic part that you need to work on as a young quarterback before you get to college and then grow from there. And then also when you look at Clemson and my man Bo, boomer Bo, it's going to love this. When you lose venables, okay? When you lose your coordinators in college football, in effects, I don't care what nobody is going to affect what's going on there. So I don't think Clinton still got players, but I also do a thing when you lose coordinators, you're just not the same program in the course. DJ is not Desean or Trevor Lawrence. And not that I want to get into the whole changing of the playoffs from four teams to 12 teams. But here's a good reason why we're going to 12 teams. I know people like, well, they're not 12 good enough teams. You know, it's going to be the haves and the have nots. That's not really the point. Take somebody from node for dame, who starts the year zero and two and almost almost zero one three. It could have been one in three. There are two and two. A team like that when there's 12 teams still has a chance to run the table or even maybe get one more loss and still find their way into the playoffs. It's not season over two games in. And that's what we're trying to avoid. We're a seasons automatically over one or two games in. You see, that's not fair. When you use your first game, but you played somebody really good. Should Oregon say season over because they played Georgia or should they have a chance to rebound. And I know they've lost, but that's beside the point. Should they have a chance to rebound and get back on track? And that's what the 12 teams does right now. No, no, I love that you bought that up and that you use Oregon as an example because they're sitting at number 15, but I'll give you another team too. Utah. You talk in lots of tough game at Florida, right? That's right. Early in the year because this is what's going to happen if you're going to board that good thing to Tennessee, but exactly. But what's going to happen is and I'm sorry to interrupt. Oregon just scored on a slant. Safety mister tackle Troy Franklin when it starts now, they're going to go up and take the sleeve. But my point really fast, like you said, I don't want to get too deep into the expansion of 14 play out. But what it does do is it takes away, okay, your Caesar's over before September 15th. And what you're going to start to have is teams probably actually scheduled better opponents early because maybe that loss doesn't hurt you, but it does prepare your team for the tough schedule you're going to have in your conference. But if you're playing a lot of cupcakes and middle and middle of the road, colleges and mid majors, you're not going to be ready for conference play. So I do like that some of these schools man up and say, okay, fine, we'll play Alabama. We'll play tech. Like Alabama taking on the Texas and Texas. They had to go there and they almost lost that game this year. But kids would be better for it. I think we should have a rule. If you're going to schedule the cupcakes, I'd hate to call them cupcakes, but it is what it is. If you lose to a lower school like an app state, a middle Tennessee, you should have no chance of going to the polls whatsoever. So now either schedule the big boys or the power 5 conferences or stop doing the easy way out. We've got the punish you when you lose or play a play an easier team and it's a tough game like the Georgia game. We've got the punisher for that, but if you're going to play a good TY Georgia first game against Oregon, then we shouldn't punish Oregon so bad for getting clobbered, you know? Especially if Oregon runs the table through the PAC 12. That means they would have beaten Utah and they would have beaten USC. And if they go win it and they have one loss in November after Thanksgiving, you have to look and go

"I know you count the minutes, the hours, the days, the weeks and months until we get to pack 12 football. But before we get into the 7 teams that we have on tap today, I do have to give you a little bit of credit. Go ahead. So every now and again, I wander aimlessly through the streaming world, trying to find a hidden gem when it comes to television shows or ways to pass the time during some of the dog days of summer or what we like to call nuclear winter during sports betting season. And I resisted as long as I possibly could, but I have to give you full marks. I am officially through season one of Sons of Anarchy and it gets two thumbs up 5 stars with other rating system you want to try and give it. And my focus may not be on the SEC that we're going to preview next week. If I have to try and crush through three or four more seasons of this show before football season gets here. Great show. So I'm not the kind of guy. Here we go. It says I told you so. No, you wouldn't be that guy. You would be that kind of you wouldn't be that kind of guy at all in any capacity, never. I'm not. And you know this deep down. We've had this conversation whether it's what sports betting or with this particular instance, a television show. I'm not the I told you so guy. Just not my vibe. But yes, it does get full. It's expected though. It's expected. When do I lead you astray, I think, is the better question. Well, we'll find out by the time we get to the end of this podcast, if we're all on the same page. More about that when we eventually get there. But all right, let's kick things off. We got a lot of ground to cover. Like we said, 17s for those pack 12 enthusiasts, though, only 5 of them actually hail from the pack 12. I know this is a podcast where fans of the independence were getting extremely excited about as we'll get into BYU and Notre-Dame as well. Two teams that have aspirations of finishing inside the top 15. But as far as the pack 12, we'll start with the Oregon ducks in the north division or what was formerly the north division since now we don't have any of those things working in any capacity. Oregon finds themselves as three to one shots to win the PAC 12 this year. Their wind total sits at 8 and a half, you do need to lay a dollar 30 to go over the total at FanDuel sportsbook. And this is now Dan landings team. He takes over 36 years old, having trained at the elbow of coaches like Nick Saban Kirby smart and pains beloved Mike norvell. Incomes Kenny dillingham to lead the offense, a lot of excitement there about Beau Knicks transferring in a defense that could be better than advertised even after losing a top 5 draft pick and kayvon thibodeau. When you look at this Oregon team pane so much of spring ball, the emphasis was placed on explosive plays, and they connected on just ten of over 40 yards, all of last season. A lot of that had to deal with the inconsistency of Anthony Brown. Hopefully the quarterback battle puts them in a better position. You see the running group, the running back room can have a little bit of turnover CJ Vidal off to the NFL. Travis die takes his talent down the coast to USC, meaning it's Brian cardwell's job. Pass catchers remain a big question, Mark. But when you look at Oregon offensively, is there reason for optimism in Eugene, even if this could be a team without residents and a power conference two years from now? No, no, that about it. I mean, I'm a Kenny dillingham guy. And he gets a chance to run his own offense. I would expect it to be far more vertical than what Oregon ran last season by design and because they've upgraded from Anthony Brown at quarterback. The Mike norvell Kenny dillingham offense is about putting players in position to win their one on one matchup. The scheme will get you one on ones. Now go with them. And we saw that in the spring game with some monster explosives from really a young but extremely talented receiver group. And it's pretty clear to me that Bo nix is going to start despite Dan landing saying there's no depth chart right now and everything's a competition heading to fall camp. Bonnick is Kenny dillingham's guy. He hand picked him. He recruited him to auburn bow nix is coming off his best season. And if Kenny dillingham is in Florida state right now, that's probably where Bo nix is as well. The other key here is phonak's is downgrading the defensive competition he's going to face in the PAC 12. So it would not be at all surprising to me that beaux has his best season ever. Looking at the parts of the field that Bo nix was best attacking in his best season last year. It was the intermediate and deep areas. And that fits with what Kenny dillingham wants to do. This is going to shock some people. But bone nix graded out the second best intermediate passer among quarterbacks with at least 300 drop backs last season. Only Bryce young was better on throws in that ten to 19 yard window. Oregon should have one of the better offensive lines in front of bone X too. It's a veteran group. You have TJ bass and elite run blocker. Alex Forsyth, Ryan walked that rounds out a nice trio. We know the recruiting of that position is Mario Cristobal specialty, having been an offensive lineman. So the cupboard was not left bare. You look last year, the ducks finished second in line yards, 8th an opportunity rate. Number one and stuff right allowed. So whichever running back ultimately emerges and we'll find out pretty soon. Sean dollars is coming back from a serious injury, Byron Caldwell really wasn't that great metrically last season. Whoever the running back is, is going to have a pretty good offensive line in front of him. I'm really interested to see what Marquis serving the four star transfer looks like behind this line didn't get to see him in the spring game since he transferred to Oregon about two weeks after that game. Receiver group you mentioned being unproven and with little experience completely agree and there's lots of national folks calling it a question mark because of that. Personally, I think there's a difference between unproven and not capable. And every single duck receiver that appears to be a contributor this season is four stars or better. Dante Thornton has been all the rave had a monster spring game. He seems quite versatile where he can take a top off a defense, win some routes one on one Chris Hudson is a burner Troy Franklin in 7 McGee round out a solid four and then you have chase co to the UCLA transfer who has shocked Kenny dillingham with his dependability. Obviously, you get George out of the shoot here. That's not a game you're going to impress. In the very first for ray of this new system. But there's only three top 50 defenses according to our projections after the Georgia game. The 8 other defenses, Oregon faces, have an average projected efficiency rank of 93rd. The way the schedule aligns after Georgia, I think Kenny dillingham has time to get the offense up to speed before facing Washington and Utah later in the season two of the top 50 defenses that I mentioned there, Todd. I think there's offense, has a chance to perform quite well. Don't tell Oregon fans. They can't do the unthinkable. It was only a season ago. Twenty twenty one okay Pretty sure we had a discussion about this. But it's a little uncomfortable. But i think we'll make do because thankfully we've been doing this now for like what eleven ten eleven years that you've been dressing up like this. I mean i mean. Hr frowns upon it But gerber baby man. I swear. I still think i can be the next gerber. Baby okay Every year thinks a crazy things happen. I mean who would have thought twenty twenty As a whole would not to try. So i guess it's quite possible that In in in due time you may be the The gerber baby Welcome one again To the show. Dr trae everything that is in the world of professional wrestling that we tend to cover here in the still show universe Let's begin with with an area that is near and dear to your heart doctor. Trae what can we expect from independent wrestling in two thousand and twenty one. This is the the biggest question because right now Depending on how fast the vaccinations can get out there I think it's going to kind of start off sluggish as people get back into the flow As people feel safe getting back out into the open and being around people. But you know. I'm expecting like once everything kinda gets back to normal like Towards the end of summer early fall that you the independence are gonna blow up and there's so much pent up Just i try to the right word here. There's so much like heads up excitement and ingenuity in new ideas. Guys are just chomping at the bit tryouts originality aching to bust through that. You know. I think that you know towards the end like i said towards the end of the summer early spring is really going to pop off and take off Like there there are people. I know that wrestled three matches this year. And these guys like Session moth martinez. They used to be In lucia underground. She wrestled two matches here. You know like these people are just aching to get back out there and really make for it kind of feels like the entire independent wrestling community to suffer a torn acl. mr year work. So everybody's anxious to get back on the field issue but when they can do so it'll start sluggish and everything else but i think yours the nba when the crowds feel comfortable. It's really gonna pop off doctrate How many shows has rocket city champion. The independent promotion you're tied with. How many shows they had since the pandemic started Since the pandemic sarah that we see we shut down in april aim back in september so one two three four five six seven zero. Last saturday would was our eighth show back now. How did What's so first off. What's the vibe in the locker room like. What's the vibe right. Now from the panoramas live or they like itching. To get back there or are they. Are they a little bit nervous. Like what what's the. What's the vibe. It's a weird thing because it kind of depends on where you're from so for our local guys you know. The biggest issue for us was the alabama commission basically used co vid as an excuse to make money because they went back and mandated everybody having their licensing and having their testing done which is great. But it's something they hadn't done for six years so they basically used cova as guys to kinda make some more money so a lot of wrestlers from you. Know the south yo. We still wear masks to show and we still try to social distance in the locker rooms but a lot of the guys never took this thing all that seriously and lucky for us. We think we've only had one performer. Test positive in the last four months. So it's been lucked but like you guys that travel around the country and it's far more serious in a in a little more Take more precautions. That i guess the southern guys do but for the most probably remember the first show back. It was just like man. You know lettuce you miss you love you just so good back locker room and since we kinda cycling guys in and out you know we get guys to come in that we literally haven't seen in a year As a happy to see you happy that you're okay And then just that anxious to get in the ring and actually got there and perform and the crowd's been say way like we have our loyal die hard fans who had a mrs show in four years. And then you know. We're we're starting to see sprinkling of new fans kinda come in as they're finding us and you're tired of being cooped up in their houses so It's like this cautious optimism. Which you and. I of used that phrase for forever on this show but like it's it's with the vaccine coming lawyer the kind kinda like hey. I think this might be the turning points. This might get things back to normal But then we also have a ton of guys like man. I ain't taking no damn back saying i don't care what they say as microchips and everything else and they're they're gonna track me forever. So so and then what's the opposite side of that. What's the vibe from the crowd. How do is it smaller crowds and you've seen before are people.
