"To florida matters on. Wsf eighty nine point seven. I'm bradley george. Today we're talking about redevelopment of tropicana field side in saint petersburg and honoring the heritage of the gas plant neighborhood. Which once stood there terry. Lipsey scott arrived in saint pete in the early nineteen eighties. As the neighborhood was being torn down she worked for the city for three decades and is now director of the carter g woodson. African american museum arrived in saint pete in the early eighties. Just as The gas plant neighborhood was being Uprooted and raised to build. What eventually would become tropicana field. I wonder if you can think back to that time and remember what what that was like particularly for the black residents of this of this neighborhood that was just just flattened to build the stadium. I arrived here in saint petersburg in nineteen eighty one and shortly thereafter. I was employed by the saint petersburg housing authority so needless to say they played a tremendous role in the relocation of many of the residents of that community. And with that it was it was a very very interesting time in as much as individuals. Were leaving what they had become very familiar to a community that resembled family friends. And it's difficult to uproot folks from their familiarity and with odd it was difficult for many of them There were not only winners in that space that but there were homeowners as well but more importantly it represented community and it was the dismantling a community so it was very difficult for many of them. You mentioned people relocated what kind of assistance financial or otherwise at the city or other entities provide to these folks as they are being moved out of the this community. Well in fact they were all compensated. Even the renters they're all compensated and there were individuals on board of the city. In fact during that time who responsible for the relocation efforts the housing authority played a role to some degree with regards to providing the list names of potential landlords for those who were looking for other rental opportunities but enlargement there was a team in place to assist in each and every one of the residents of that area being successfully relocate. It moving forward to today and It seems like the city could be getting close to making a decision about what happens to the side. And they have the shortlist of of Of proposals for redevelopment. I wonder if you've if you've looked at those proposals and if so what what do you think of them. Look at the proposals and to be quite honest with you. I still feel with sense of prematurity in this entire process. The race has agreement with the city through twenty twenty seven and they have yet speak with regards to what exactly they're looking to do or achieve or not achieve here in this community. But more importantly i have a sense of concern. If you will that we may be finding ourselves..

"These joyous incredible memories of our lives in the gas plant area And i'm not saying because my parents we lived in an apartment building that had two apartments upstairs into apartment. Downs apartments downstairs So we're not talking money but we're talking happiness. We're talking unity. we're talking community. We're talking knowing people knowing your neighbors helping your neighbors out We're talking about that village. We often refer to when we talked about. It takes a village to raise a child with gas plant. Area was village end up for us. I talked to the boston brothers. They talk about. They talk about skinny dipping in booker scrape. And i talked to. I talked to so many people with wonderful memories that we all do. I used to walk to school with my librarian. Who lived in the area and didn't have a car and she walked up fifth avenue going sixteenth street elementary. I just walk out housing while going up with her Nope no locked doors Just i know there was poverty there but you're not money is everything and i think for those of us living in that community it was more about the joy and the unity in the family. And the you know best what it was all about and we have wonderful memories. you know. that's what we've heard as we've been talking to people for this show and putting putting the show together is that it's that sense of community and the fact that it still has that power for people in saint peter's even today even forty some years after it was after it was raised to build tropicana field and that's the thing that that i imagine that as you're involved with the city in this process of picking a plan for the side that you want people to remember regardless if they're from saint petersburg if they're a tourist if there's somebody who's moved here from somewhere that they understand what this meant to the black community and saint petersburg for so long and you know often is talked about it was they referred to the whole neighborhood is having been blighted..

"Three of the four game weekend series Major League Baseball yesterday prior to my little Caesars stop by tonight for an extra most best this stop cross pepperoni pizza or you can order one on our act go to the shop and job from inside back to Tropicana field can single them all the yes network now joined Justin Kenny the Yankees have dominated this series the this season the Yankees have won back to back games scoring four runs in extra innings to pick up the victories how to present the last two nights spent awhile is impressive but even more so because the rates try to come back in each instance that they have the tying run at the plate both games in extra innings in the eighties somehow held on to win both of these games is not only against the razor that they've also played well against the rest of the division or twenty nine and seven against their these division foes and I think that's the there's a separation that you have a half game lead over other raise and then the rest of the vision as well may have been an absolute Jagannath against not only the race but against I. gets all the baseball and lately they've won sixteen of eighteen really this started when they had that one half game lead over Tampa and then they went nine and one on the homestead what's what's been the key for the Yankees winning sixteen of the last eighteen hello I think one thing they've done they've they've scored a lot more in and getting some people back in the lineup namely Erin judge use a new start to swing the bat very well you know the big game here yesterday with two home runs in this sort of sets the tone you these sort of the face of the franchise in the when you step to the plate is always a buzz in the stadium and there was a couple buzzes yesterday if you went deep I I just think that he's the one along with some of the other guys have a great years DJ what may use men certainly them the P. candidate what he's done primarily out of the lead off spot he's among the league leaders in runs batted in so that's that's kind of tough to do when you lead off and at least one at bat again you only have a chance give one RBI in health also helps as well that's something the Yankees have found available to get back together can singleton of the guests that were joining us here on baseball tonight just from your perspective can because you're you're with this team an awful lot day in and day out pretty much how much fun is this for you when you've got it seems this much of an absolute a wagon Kevin I've been here this is my twenty third year on television with the Yankees and every year they've had a winning record so it's been a lot of fun you're going back to deter Marianna days an independent and those guys are now the this latest run with these young Yankees that they're primarily a young team that boasts the stars and team of very young and in the early stages of their careers so you can see this going on for a little while I don't know if I'm going to I'm certain they will yeah it one of the one of those young players is Gary Sanchez and I remember it was during the pennant run or the a race for a playoff spot two years ago he really struggled he was a his work ethic it's also was being questioned his defense has been issue the last couple of years this season though came he seems like an entirely different player what have you notices the difference in his game well you're right cavities and all star is going to start the all star game American League on Tuesday night I think when I came to spring training it with my season die out this is my what should I say it an fifty if you're in a major way anyway I have a tendency to look the players over here and this year he was definitely a much better condition it was the the previous season and it's it's kind of paid off his defense is picked up his offense is already hit more home runs many more home runs in his last year hit injury problems quite a bit last year with it being in a better condition I think those have been cut down a bit he did have a stand on the injured list but he's come back with a vengeance yeah who didn't have a stint on the injured list for the right it wall this team is loaded with youth can the starter for today's CC is about to get his final game final season rather in the in baseball what has he made since you said you know the Yankees for so long what he meant to this organization well the first year he came here they won the World Series in two thousand nine is saying is a free agent and his presence in the clubhouse is respected by all the players the coaches in his manager and I think he's getting the respect of all the fans to and he's gonna be on or before the all star game in Cleveland for not only what is done on the field in his career I mean is one two hundred fifty one games over three thousand strikeouts but for for he's done in the community and the community service over the years both in his hometown of Vallejo California and in the New York area so he's been the one of the people that is well respected throughout the game not only by his own teammates but the throughout baseball tensing up to the guests that were joining us here on a baseball tonight C. C. get the start game three of four but the Yankees in the race can as you look at the skanky team if you were to identify your weakness because that may be hard where is it hi all that you're right I I would think that if the Yankees are working on anything it could be getting another starting pitcher okay thank you I don't know if they can really count on Louise Severino coming back he's been out all year if he does come back it's gonna be the latter stages of the season and you kind of wonder if he's going to be the Luis Severino that we've seen in the past at least initially so I would I would think knowing the Yankees in broadcast from their very resourceful general manager that he'd be looking around and if he sees a deal that would help the Yankees he's going he's going to try and make it yep Cashman told us last week and even in London he was on the phone with gentle managers despite the time difference ten pre she had a great stuff enjoy the game and noble talk some sometime soon thank you Kevin enjoy the rest of the season that.

"And he was right to outs bottom of the night, that three run home run, and it studying not only because Walk-ups like that are jarring and unexpected, but also because Oakland had give it up three runs in the top of the ninth to fall behind the race. And so it was a crazy roller coaster ride that final ninth inning in the bay area. If industrial plants could capture CO to think how we could help lower emissions Exxon Mobil is working to make it happen. That's the unexpected energy of Exxon Mobil. You can find me on Twitter Ayla radio, if you want to weigh in on the NBA draft and what your team did, or didn't do some of you put critical on social media, and I would say dust needs to settle I to me. The NBA draft felt more like a giant tease of things to come of what will, and may be endless possibilities, but really of a sense of urgency that teams have with what appears to be at least right now a wide open two thousand nineteen twenty twenty just because of the warriors injuries the player movement. We've already seen it, it feels like. It's going to be a season in which more teams could win. So we'll take your thoughts on Twitter again, a law radio or on our Facebook page after hours with Amy Lawrence appreciate Sean Grandy spending a couple of minutes on the show. But I wanted to share this story from from baseball, and I don't know if you want to weigh in, if you're a raise fan or maybe you used to be a fan of the Expos, the race actually petition major league baseball and received permission. All right. So they asked for and received permission. To explore this idea of playing their home games in two different cities, but not Tampa. And then another four to city. No. Tampa and Montreal. Now it's very early on. But the rave at least the franchise itself. Think this might be the best way to keep baseball in Tampa. They've been trying to to build a new stadium for years haven't been able to. And that makes sense may does make sense. There've been a couple of seasons in which they've been a nicer prize last year being one they got to the World Series but sustainable have they had sustainable success. They have major superstars usually it's the pitchers. But there's never longoria here there. But a lot of times those players get end up get. Ended up they ended up getting traded or they sign elsewhere. So this is just a rough draft. I'm not saying this is going to happen. But the, the idea would be that the rays would play their home games early in the season. So when the weather is still chilly in cities, that are north of the Mendoza line they would play their home games early in the season in Tampa Tampa Bay area and then the rest of the year in Montreal. And both cities would get new stadiums. That part makes no sense to me. Why build new stadiums in both places? And then split the game split the gate. Part of the reason is that. The dome stadium is not extremely popular. And so they've wanted a place to replace that. But if you build a new stadium will then why not just leave the schedule as it is except that. Montreal is wanted to get a baseball franchise in it city again, even going back now it's been almost fifteen years since the Expos moved to DC and became the nationals, and there are a lot of people in Montreal. Who would like to be able to make this happen. And so they would throw money toward it. So again baseball has at least given the raise permission to explore the idea, but Saint Petersburg's mayor. His name is Rick Christman. He is. He's trying to throw rain on their parade, a major league baseball may have given the approval for exploration of this concept for us, in Saint Pete, sharing this team with Montreal is not an option on the table. So the mayor of Saint Petersburg, and, you know, these are kind of twin cities, Tampa Saint Pete. He's saying, Nope. That's not happening. So the rays of wanted to build a stadium, either Tampa or Saint Pete. And right now, that's where they play their home games Tropicana field. The dome blah blah held about no hen. The lease runs through twenty twenty seven. And so. The mayor is saying you can't do this without our permission. Because right now, we are significant power players in this whole deal. And he actually goes on to say, I'm not even going to bring this idea to our city council. I'm not even going to entertain the option among our city leaders. It's a, it's a negative ghost rider, raise explorer playing any major league baseball games in Montreal or anywhere else for that matter prior to twenty twenty eight without reaching informal memorandum of understanding with the city of Saint Petersburg. And again, he's not even planning on taking it seriously. I like this quote from him only because. Well, only because it's his way of squashing, I believe this is getting a bit silly. So that's where it cries in the mayor of Saint Pete, who saying, stop it. Just stop it. Or one of my favorite words seriously. It's a weird concept. The race had the second lowest average attendance of the major, sometimes it looks like there's no one there at Tropicana fourteen thousand five hundred fans as what they average. The only team that averages fewer fans per home game is the Marlins. And this is with the raise. I know they've just lost four row. And they're kind of going backwards. But this is with the raise having been on top of the AL east for the first two months of the season. Maybe it's just not a good fit. Maybe it's never been a good fit. Either way the mayor is having none of it right now. They've got major power fate Pete the lease and what that entails. And so maybe baseball's on board, but they would get a struggle from the Saint Pete city leaders. Yeah. I don't I don't really know why I don't really know why you do it with Montreal except that there'd be money into it. But how would that how would that help your fan base feels like that? Make it even worse. But also, if the Saint Pete mayor doesn't see that this is an exercise in futility with the team right now. He might need to take the blinders off. All right. You can find me on Twitter, Ayla radio or phone number's eight five five two one two four two two seven. It's after hours with Amy Lawrence. How the Expos can finally return to Montreal

"The Montreal Expos never went away. Expos take the field here at Olympic stadium in Montreal the second game before game series, the Expos left. They left Montreal. They became the Washington nationals. They went off to play baseball in DC while Olympic stadium. Their former home sat empty and decaying the teams famous mascot UP even went to work for the Montreal Canadians because even furry orange monsters gotta eat. The idea of the Expos of a major league team in the heart of Montreal the modern monument to a sport with deep history in the province that never entirely vanished. There were always a few people some of them loudly and most of them very quietly keeping the fires burning mostly they were dreaming. But sometimes they were planning for the Tim's eventual return, and somehow that return might happen. The sport of baseball has changed. The city of Montreal has changed the business of sport in general has changed an unbelievably as cities around North America. Celebrate baseball's opening day today. It is beginning to seem like the team that never really went away is suddenly very close to coming back. How did this happen? How real is it? What does baseball mean to Montreal to Quebec or to Canada? And we'll those fans who refused to abandon their team. Even after their team, abandoned them finally get their happy ending. I'm Jordan heath Rawlings. And this is the big story. Jeff Blair is the host of the Jeff Blair show on sports net. Five ninety the fan. He is the co host of the lead podcast with Stephen Brent knows a lot about baseball in Montreal because he covered the Expos for the zette for about a decade and for the global mail after that so it's opening day to day. There's no baseball in Montreal today. Not yet. But Montrealers are very excited this week. Why is that? Well, I think they should be excited. I mean, I covered the Expos from eighty eight to ninety seven on a full-time basis. And I was there when when the team ended up leaving town part of a franchise swap that saw the Expos go to Washington and saw the ownership of the Boston Red Sox in my and Miami Marlins change as part of the process at that time. There was very little support from the local business community. There were there was a very small collection of minority partners who were in for maybe million two million dollars a year, very small. They had been effectively bought out in a leveraged buyout by Jeffrey Loria was a New York art dealer who came in and saw that I think at the end of the day ended up putting in about twenty five million US of his own money into that team and that up buying it. And then when he sold the Marlins that was for one point three billion any that's but at that time. Time when when the Expos left the Commissioner was committed at the time, but ceiling was committed to bringing baseball back to Washington. It was it was a legacy thing for him. The Expos has I mentioned had no local corporate support. There was no political support. I mean, they didn't have a political champion in the mayor's office. They they had no political champions provincially as a matter of fact, when you know, I think when you talk to people who are involved in sort of the post Charles Bronfman area era, the expo is one of the things they'll say is that they were affectively screwed by p q government. There was just there were there was there was there was no reason to keep the Expos and much there. There is a plan to build a new ballpark was completely stillborn. So there was absolutely no reason for the Expos to stay in town. And of course, attendance it had had decreased while fast forward. Now, you have a new Commissioner rob Manfred. Who also even though he's only been inter for few years. Just thinking of his legacy and his legacy is in. Internationalizing the game. You've seen baseball games. Played in Japan. Baseball will play a game at Lord's Cricket Ground. This year the Red Sox and the Yankees. And rob Manfred has said that he thinks Montreal is a viable baseball market. He also thinks Mexico City's viable baseball. Mark in Montreal itself. You have a really well-funded core ownership group, Stephen Bronfman of Claridge investments, the son of Charles Bronfman and Mitch Garber who's kind of a fascinating guy. Mitch when I first met him. He's a lawyer his uncle was a lawyer who represented a lot of Expos players in and around Montreal Tim Raines, he keeps kind of a fixer for them. And I I mean that in a positive way Mitch also hosted a radio show late night. I mean, he was a dabbler really talented guy. He is now president of Caesars acquisitions international, essentially lives in Monaco. And he's on the French CBC French language version of dragons. Dan. He's he's he's a very he is shaker and mover. He was I believe I don't know if he's still as he was CEO of Cirque du Soleil at one point he's got a lot of money scuttle resume. He's got and he's and he's and he's a billionaire. He and Stephen Bronfman both known each other for while that they have they've kept the dream of baseball in Montreal alive. They done it very quietly as is their manners people. They're both fairly quiet, quiet. People very quietly. They had Denny co dare when he was mayor of Montreal who is a huge baseball. I mean, he's an he's a nut. But he's a huge baseball fan. And he you know, he was show up at every baseball event. The all star game the World Series it show up at the Commissioner's office. He he'd go to the Expos or the Blue Jays games every spring spring training just to kind of fly the flag and lobby for and lobby for a team to return to Montreal and the provincial government, both the liberal government. And the new government are very the very comfortable with the idea of entertaining, some sort of public private partnership. So what we have now is. Commissioner who views internationalizing the game as an important part of his legacy. We have people in Montreal ton of money. What we don't have as a team revolt park. Obviously we have Olympic state, and we don't have a team or ballpark. Well, this is going on the tap. The Tampa Bay rays have been have been trying for twenty twenty-five years to get a ballpark built. They play at Tropicana field in Saint Pete. So horrible ballpark that, you know, their their attendance is routinely the worst in the league somewhat bizarrely. They have one of the best TV contracts in the league. But their attendance is generally pretty poor. They have attempted to build a ballpark in different parts of Tampa. The the providence Saint Pete right now is that Tampa's where the growth there is in the area east of Tampa north Tampa. That's where the growth is. Unfortunately to get the Saint Pete you base give a choice of two bridges. So during rush hour access to Saint Pete from Tampa is essentially it's the worst place you could imagine in the region right ballpark last year. There seemed to be finally at least for the people in Tampa. There seemed to be memento. Adam behind building a ballpark in ebor city, which is to to the eastern part of the city. It's an old old warehouse area. And I I hadn't been paying attention to it at baseball's winter meetings or something happened it collapsed. I don't know what I don't know the exact majority just collapsed. So the winter meetings in baseball where everybody in baseball gathers media general managers owners, it's it's kinda like a swap shop trades or made sometimes free agents or talked about and all that there was a news conference call by Stuart Sternberg with the owner of the race and his president, which if you've got something you wanna float as if you've got a trial balloon you wanna float in baseball. You do it at the winter meetings because everybody who writes talks thinks about baseball is there, right? They held a news conference. You know, blah, blah, blah stadium issue in Tampa. We still have a lease at Tropicana field the twenty twenty four twenty until twenty twenty-seven dot that up. But and this was was was very subtle. And I probably wouldn't have noticed if I hadn't been tipped off about this by a raise official the raise owner. Said listen, we're not getting a park built in tap. We do have a lease right now until twenty twenty seven Saint Petersburg prime real estate in terms of building condos mixed business residential area. I mean, it is a it is a gold mine for raising tax. If there's a crappy building city there's a crappy building sitting on it that we're going to be gone from an in in ten years. So what he did what Stuart Sternberg did was he kind of flipped it a bit. And said, here's the thing. Yeah. We could be here twenty twenty seven. But man, if you guys get an offer between now and then for this parcel a land who knows what the economy's going to look like in twenty twenty seven right? Could be better could be worse. So centrally what he said is. Hey, if you guys get a good offer for this. You know, I'd be willing to cut you deal here to to to help you finish this off. Please. Let me go, please. Let me go. So well that's going on, you know, the folks in Montreal again, very quietly quietly, very diligently. Claridge investments is involved in purchasing land in Griffin town part of Montreal. Which is. Near the peel basin. It's it's kind of an area that's undergoing gentrification. So you've got that. Now, you've got a Tampa Bay rays owner. Who knows he's not gonna stay there? Now, you've got people with money in Montreal in a ballpark. You've got a Commissioner who is committed to this one of the things the tappan though as well, as in addition to all that sort of falling in place, one of the things rob Manfred, the Commissioner says look I realized the reality of the situation now is I'm not going to ask you to build a ballpark. And then give you a team he cited Quebec, cities, and example, building an arena. No NHL team. You said not gonna do that. I just need see the plans. I didn't need the shovel in the ground show me the financing show me the plans haven't nailed down. And we'll try to get a team in. Montreal. Stuart Sternberg owns the raise lives in New York. So what kind of happened in the past couple of months? People started to realize well who says Stuart Sternberg has to sell the raise or Montreal has to get an expansion team. What a Stuart Sternberg said moved the race to Montreal. I live in New York. It's not a big flight. Maybe. I wanna be a majority partner. But maybe I want twenty percent. Maybe bell media comes in for twenty percent char or Stephen Bronfman and Mitch Garber have thirty percent each and away we go. So all these things have kind of have fallen in place if you'd asked me for years ago. I would've said there's no chance of baseball returning to much you're on my lifetime. Now, I'd be stunned. If there isn't a major league team in Montreal within the next six or seven years five years might be a little tight, but just sort of planning this thing out of that. I can see baseball back in Montreal in six seven years at the outside. I'll be surprised if it isn't

Overcast a little cooler object for some Floridians. It can be a little chilly, but a packed crowd. I'm with you, man. Look, I think this weather's perfect. There is a cloud cover. We did a lot of walking. We took the bus out L product that we kind of walk the hallway up past the floats something I've never done before guests rela which is great. But I think the weather's perfect. It's not too cold, though, win it all I think it's perfect. It's really it really is a nice day out here. The people are ready to start getting some beats the parade is just kind of getting underway. Now, it takes a little while for it to get moving. You know what I mean? Sure once it gets going than the floats are flying by. So we're looking forward to that in just a bit. I was just talking about. When you're here on Bayshore. There's there's the wall, right? And there are a lot of people sitting on the wall right now. And I just wondered if historically anybody had fallen back into the water at any point. I would think that had to have happened sometime. I don't think there's any doubt because from our broadcasts. Vantage point, we are facing in that direct. And we're seeing I mean, there's a lot of people sitting on the wall. It's making me very nervous a little bit. Two. A little bit a little wobbly up there. And I you know, I I do not want to have to go rush in and save somebody. And after a few more, you know pops or lack thereof. I think that that's going to be a very very real possibility as this afternoon, whereas odd, but you know, that's the one thing. I haven't done Gasparilla is experience it from a boat now in the bay overlooking Bache, I think it'd be phenomena would be really really cool. What do you think? Let me ask you this because you're you're a sports guy. And I noticed this last night when we were talking about the parade lineup. It seems like the lineup has been set up when it comes to the sports teams in the order of how Tampa feels about them. Yes. You've got the lightning closer to the front. Then the box then the race. It's not by who's best because then it would be lightning race spots. It's lightning box and raise at the end. I just I don't know if that was by design. I to go down the rabbit hole. That's a very. The leader of the pack has got to be toward the front and right now there's no question that's the lightning. And I think the bucks have done some really good things. I think dropping the ticket prices was a very small box because you see the numbers, right? I mean, not many people be going to the games of this be going up a several years and our Bruce Arians on board and the season ticket prices decreasing. I think more people will get out there. I actually think the bucks a chance of surprise the people just think because the butts fit the parade. Virus buccaneers. So you would think they would make sense to be closer to the front. But that's not exactly how it's laid out today. Let me ask you this. We're talking about this a huge debate on the show last night on the news broke after you had already got off air on W A the Tropicana field twenty nine thousand Tropicana field. It's going cashless as somebody who is a germaphobe. I that's me. I'm not big on, you know, touching cash. And ashes like the dirtiest it's so you can absolutely tucked germs all over. But you know, we still love it. Yeah. At the end of the day. No. I would rather have more of it than last. We had a call from somebody who used to work in a sewage plant, and they would take the bills outs and clean them off. And put them back in circulation. Oh my goodness. So do you think this is going to be an Tropicana feels making some big changes? They closed the top level. And now they're going cashless. Do you think these are improvements or I felt like there was a lot of push back on the air last night to the cashless deal. I think a lot of bands that I spoke to through social media after we got up the air. So when you get a chance to address them. So we will talk about it at length on Monday. I don't think fans are happy to be quite honest. I like I like carrying cash around. I like being able to go to ballpark pay for burgers and beer and hot dogs with cash and from a business standpoint, I can understand why they would go to that. Because you. As well. As I do people are more apt to spend more money if they don't physically have cash in their hails stroke. You know, it's it's scientifically proven to be the fact I mean, we gotta do you know, when you go to a casino you exchange money for chips. You know, you don't think of that as cash. Boop. Boop. You're you know. Yeah. Throwing up by twenty five Ed chips. Yup. You don't think of it as actual money? You would think twice. Then you're like, oh, yeah. That was funny. Wasn't it sofa business standpoint? I understand why they're doing it. Because people tend to spend more money where they have a credit card in their hand or debit card as opposed to real cash and also part of their case was that will speed things up you've learnt fumbling around for cash. And so I don't know if that's necessarily going to be the case, but it's going to be a topic of conversation for quite a while. And I got to tell you boy that was we got a lot of phone calls on that. Well, you know, somebody brought up to support the other day might have been you listener to one of our afternoon shows. But I think the vendors are kind of losing out to because if there's no cash, you know, how it is to a ball game. You know, you pay for something you tip the guy. Typically. I don't think I think they're gonna lose out in that matter. So I don't think they're happy. But I would it be if I were them you might be right. We're going to have more live from Gasparilla in a moment on NewsRadio W F L A. News, traffic and weather. Tampa Bay's News Radio WFAN. From the SafeTouch Security traffic.

"No, we do we give us some of the best stories and all of the land. And then we decide how we would swipe we've got left for don't like it right for like it. We've got up for super like it. And yes, we even create a new one swipe down. I hate it. So we will start speaking apart Hayes with a little bachelor party action as there's a gentleman that accidentally got an invite to a bachelor party from someone. He didn't know. And he decided, you know, what I need a little break Anita party. I'm going, Sarah. I got I mean, I don't know why I'm even asking you. We'll get to you in a second because I'm going to start with this one. If I get an invite in my Email to a bachelor party from someone. I don't know. I am going to absolutely go. I am swipe up super liked the thought of going to especially if I wasn't invited like his. Now, it's going to be it's awkward for the whole room. Because like the Jason they thought they were inviting is going to be there. And then all night, I'll get to say LBJ. Part is that the guy wrote back and he's like instead of what we all do would either ignore it or right back. Hey, strong person. He wrote back I'm bleeping in. And they were like, well, we don't know you, and you're not the guy, but you seem cool. So all right. You're in. And then he started to go fund me because he had a new kid. He was like I can't afford it. He made all sorts of money people found out about it. They got a free Maserati a bunch of free beer, like an ended up being awesome. And then he donated the extra money to the groom and bride who were expecting a great story all around. So would you join a bachelor a bachelor party of someone? You didn't know I'm going to have to swipe left. Yeah. Here's the thing. It sounds awesome. And it'd be totally great. If it turned out to be a really cool bachelorette party. But knowing my luck instead of these great awesome stories like this one or the one where the guy ended up going to thinks giving with the lady or the one where the guys went and met the brand new baby that they got accidentally texted about mine would end with me getting murdered like I would think it was going to be a cool story. And I would start a go fund me. And then the sad tale would turn. Into unfortunately, the bachelorette party was full of weird people, and they murdered her and took all of our stuff. You make such an accurate point. My one life rule is if you would see it in the opening scene of a horror movie and screamed at the screen, don't do it the writing is if they're reading your obituary, and they're like, wait. Why did she go to a party full of people? She didn't know you make such a good point. But it could be that. Or it could be the hangover which is kind of like my ultimate party movie of all time as long as you're not the guy stuck on the roof for several days in Vegas. That's true. And you don't pull out your teeth. So you know, what you're starting to make me rethink the whole thing. But no, I'm gonna stick with my original answer next story as we get you through not necessarily sports tender the love for Tropicana field. Tropicana field is about to make a bit of history. They're going to become the first professional sports venue anywhere to be cash free. Sarah. I am going to swipe.

"Seventeen two west verdicts over the east before nineteen thousand six hundred and fifty four at Tropicana field. Patrick Kane is Brian Jordan, Derek rack lead, and Rick Burke down there and get grabbed some post game interviews four Hopi broadcast. That was a really entertaining second half credits a blow and the defense of the east. To show some some interest in the second half and get back into it. And take it down the wire. Well, talked about matrix some adjustments at halftime in. Obviously, it looks like Sam was not feeling good about that first half and set a couple of things. So that defense and team because they woke up in the second half scoring seventeen points coming up just short defensively after a penalty really hurt them in that fourth quarter there. Yeah. They were able to east was able to claw their way back into the game. Looked like it might have been a blowout early on west had all the momentum. But just gotta get a couple of guys in there that are gonna make plays. We mentioned blow Terry Godwin making some plays. Jordan braille for making some plays defensively to get back in that game. But ultimately, it was the west team really trying to buckle down controlling the football driving down the field to secure the victory and a four point win. All right. So a little bit later on in our post game show will get to our pick twos for Brian and for Derrick from the east and the west on who they like Rick Burke's hanging around atoms. Zimmer we'll hear from him in a moment. We hope you hear from San bills as well. The head coach of the east, right? Let's go down. Rick Burke has Adams Zimmer the winning head coach from the west. I Adam talking before the game you said it's important to win this game. You're playing exhibition game for you know, it's always always important. And anytime you go out on on the field you wanna win. And you know, every one of those guys was up wanting to win the game at the end. And fortunately to get the win at the end. I know you had to be especially satisfied with your offensive line on that final drive when they put the game away. Yeah. I told him once a sort our will and and try and run this game out, and they did all but four seconds. So there was some big big plays in that drive. And they've really did a nice job. Adam go over the course of the week. What are you take out of this? It's going to help you as a coach with the Vikings. And and hopefully a head coach down. The road. Yeah. I think it's going to help me immensely just the planning of everything seeing what a head coach has to deal with, you know, dealing with the staff dealing with the players dealer schedules deal with the media the media, so all those are going to be huge in my in my future. And you know, I was able to sit in some offense and meetings and learn from offense of football. You know, I've always been a defense over and so that was invaluable to me as well. I go enjoy the win when your teammates and family. All right. Thank you very much. Guys, Adam Zimmer? Thanks a lot rank Nike coach. And it's an interesting point about this is not only development of players..

"Of the unwanted? NBA calls. You will missed calls. You will ever seen? It could have been one of the all-time worst sporting missed calls. Did you see a lot of I saw it? But I didn't follow it closely high status. So we really Kevin Durant was involved. So it was it was a tie game. And this is what set off the three pointer that Hardin eventually hit. It was a tie game. The ball was heading out of bounds. Durant was out of bounds by three steps. But three times he stepped out of bounds including the third step as he's quote saving the ball out of with both feet out of bounds. By a bile. Save the ball. They let the play continue and they hit a shot to put up put themselves up by two. It was the craziest thing I've ever seen. That's awesome. I don't why is that not subject to review. Why didn't they stop the game because it's interviewed. So warriors. Is it because there was no whistle. I would say that that would be my guess, they got it wasn't. That was an awful awful miss and Chris Paul. He tweeted about. After the game sits something but the bird box. Yes. I haven't seen wwl. The oh, the here's a shocker razor. Eliminating seven several thousand seats at Tropicana field. Ever going to get a ticket? We're going to get a new stadium. I would out outside Florida about this. I have not read through the I like to call it. The the folder of filth. I've not read it. So we're going to go through this bumpy ride together. This is dangerous despite the name of pink Floyd's bestselling album the side of the moon. You can't see isn't always dark. But it is far scientists call the area where a Chinese spacecraft just landed the far side, not the dark side, the other side sees the son. Sometimes the other side is not dark. It's just far.
