"People loving Stacey stories about her coverage from the assoc- Olympics in Russia. Thanks, a block clubs Chicago for taking over were DNA info left off we love that. That's from the three one two and people saying please come out to the women's March and the rally on Saturday. So that's going to be taking place in federal plaza. We switch gears a little bit. Now, we are still going to be talking about all things Chicago is part of for the next two hours as part of Andrea Chicago. And then padded ask as we'll be on at ten o'clock in dicta Gilio on after Patty. We welcome to the studio. My good friend and someone who has been doing good in this town for many many years, Joe Ahern, you know, is name from every media outlet, specifically CBS. Were there for many years? Now, the CEO of the one hundred club of Chicago, thanks for being here. Joe? Thanks, sandra. Thank you so much for her. It's always a pleasure to have you in studio and the work that you do it one. At at one hundred club is is just rewarding and wonderful. And thank thankless. It really is just everything you do is just can't say enough about how much. Tell everybody about the one hundred club. And what you do the work. You do they're under the one hundred club is a charity five, oh, one C three that's been around for fifty two years when a police officer firefighter anyone in state local federal law enforcement dies in line of duty. We cover and give the family a fifty thousand dollars, and then we send all the kids to college. And so sadly over the last fifty two years, we've had two hundred seventy line of duty deaths. And right now, we have we have thirty kids that are all sons and daughters of police officers and firefighters that are in college on one hundred clubs scholarships and with the very tragic twenty eighteen in this latest state trooper the died over the weekend awful. Trooper Lambert he had a fourteen month old daughter. And so that we will have seventy seven kids in the future that we will be able to help it can send a college in the future. And if you just do the math that's over five million dollars of of potential scholarship funds. That's what I do is go out and raise money raise awareness for the hundred Cup. So we can continue to do our mission and provide for these families who have paid a terrible terrible price in protecting all of us. Twenty eighteen was a very very tough year for Chicago six line of duty deaths. Set me is nine sons and daughters were left behind and it just you know, covering these stories and the funerals and the last one essentially, especially it was just so gut wrenching where one of the officers daughters got up and gave a eulogy at Saint rita's. And then and then the two officers killed by the train. Those were back funeral and Gary. Yes. Yes. Then today to just to meet with them, and it was Maria marmolejo daughter who gave that gave a speech just absolutely beautiful. And and it's hard enough to give a eulogy but being fifteen years old and talking about your dad how poetic and how fluent she was. And how she really just give such a moving moving eulogy. It really was we talked about that this afternoon. And I said that it was absolutely stunning that she had the courage, but it was really heartfelt as she wanted to do it. And for fifteen year old young gal. She's a sophomore in high school to get up there and speak so poignantly about her dad and beautifully. It's really something. It's why the one hundred club is so wonderful as well. Because you don't just say cut a check or here's the money, and then leave like you said today, Joe, I mean, I know you I see you at their you stick with the families and you go through day by day. And I know every day you're saying all right. Who can who we're going to work and I go today. This isn't just a once one and done. No. When we when we say, we're we're with one hundred club family, and we'll be with your family for the forever. And that's the way it works. And that's the way it should be. I mean, these families have paid the ultimate sacrifice and anything we can do to help make it easier for them over the next one three five years and beyond is is really important that we could do. Mike Maher joins us in studio with the new president of the one hundred club. Hi, mike. Papillon there. Let's try that. Hey, good evening. Andrea. Thank you for being here with us. We appreciate you coming in on this cold evening to talk about the one hundred club. And I was just saying to Joe this isn't just a a one and done. This is a lifetime commitment that the one hundred club makes to not just provide monetary scholarships and for the families and children of the fallen officers. But just let's go have a Cup of coffee. Let's sit around and talk. Let's hang out. So it's a it's a lifetime of giving. Right. This is it's probably I was recently installed as president of the board. And I was really honored to do it. But I was telling the board at that time. This is probably the most important assignment I've ever had in my life. I mean, it's it's really humbling and an absolute honor to be there for these families in their time of need, and we've gone through some very difficult days recently Joe together, and I think most recently it's also rewarding when we went to the officer Lisk when the street under the artisan. Was renamed after Michael Flynn and to see a family eight years later and to see a beautiful law school graduate who's now succeeding in the Cook County state's attorney's office and their son who is a graduate of was Ambrose number of Ambrose university where he played rugby, and he's in the police academy now so that it's amazing to see the circle of recovery. It is quite a circle Joe was saying just a few seconds ago. Mike that you have the largest number of kids. There's thirty kids in college is currently in seventy six more that will come of age in the future and presently. I didn't know this twenty four colleges and universities now offering full scholarships. Isn't that amazing? That is amazing. Yeah. When I came in in twenty ten it was Mike flick, the evidence technician who was tragically murdered. And and I went to a father guarantee any who is the president of Loyola University at the time. And I asked him if he would help with a with a scholarship for one of the kids, and he said, I'll tell you what I'll give you. Two full scholarships. And and I said, oh, my, you know, I was stunned and he said, and I'll go to Reverend hold Schneider. Who is at depaul. He said, and I know hill match, and then we'll go to Saint Xavier and Benedictine and Dominican he said, and if you get all the Catholics, you'll get older Protestant, right?.

"Mobile today. Monday. Thank you for listening. Hey, some horrible news around the Chicago area Saturday night. We lost another cop. We lost in Illinois state trooper thirty four year old Christopher Lambert, Illinois state trooper killed while on duty on his way home. It happened Saturday night. Interstate ninety four around the Northbrook area. State trooper Lambert was on his way home to Highland Park by five o'clock PM he comes across a crash involving multiple cars in the northbound lanes of I two ninety four near willow road. He sees this three vehicle crash. He's on his way home. He positions his vehicle in the left hand lanes to save the lives of those people in the crash. And when this Illinois state trooper did that he was struck by vehicle. And he lost his life. Just horrible. He leaves behind a young wife, and he leaves behind a one year old daughter. He'd been a state trooper for five years. Loved his job. He was go-to guy. His colleagues said. A big loss. Thirty four year old Illinois state trooper cursed for Lambert. Doing his job. Saturday night. Rest in peace servants rest in peace and thoughts and prayers. For the state troopers. Wife and family. Hey, I've been saving this. So let's get right to it. What did we learn this weekend? Just before we get into politics. And before everybody goes to their corners. And. You all go into that corner. And you will yell deep state, and you all go into that corner, and you yell impeachment before we do that what we learn this weekend. We learned two things. Number one. We learned that our own FBI. Launched an investigation into President Donald Trump. Because they were concerned he might be working for the Russians our own FBI. We learned this weekend Friday night to be exact was so concerned that a sitting United States president might be working for the Russians. They launched a counter intelligence investigation. That's number one. Number two. We learned this weekend that that same sitting president President Donald Trump went to great great lengths to conceal all records of his face to face meetings with Vladimir Putin over the course of the last two years. Wow. Think about that. Think about that. Now, I know I know plenty of you can say because plenty of you wanna say this was the FBI trying to take Trump down. I'll probably piss off most of you. Because I don't know to me that's the FBI doing their job. If the FBI believes so strongly that there may be real concerns. For the first time in our history. The president United States might be working with a hostile power. I think we'd be angry at the FBI. If they had those concerns about President Trump's shortly after he were elected and they didn't launch an investigation. But now, do I believe that Donald Trump is is a Russian spy. Do I believe that Donald Trump is a Russian mold? Why believe that Donald Trump is was and is literally working for the Russians. No, I don't we don't know by the way where this investigation has gone this counterintelligence investigation that the FBI did open. Because they were concerned about President Trump working for the Russians. We don't know if it didn't go anywhere. We don't know if it's part of what Robert Muller's been looking into. None of us know, I don't know. Shawn hannidy, doesn't know Dan Bongino, doesn't know. Nobody knows. And it will know that issue right away that will go into the politics that will go into the political arena, and and conservatives will yell deep state and liberals will yell impeachment. I'll just keep my mouth shut. And we'll wait to see what happened with that investigation. All we know is the FBI did in fact for the first time in our history launch a counter intelligence investigation into a sitting president. I'm bothered by the other story, though. And I believe that all Americans should be bothered by this story. Donald trump. Concealing? Doing whatever he could do the president of the United States to conceal what he and Putin said do each other. During the five face to face meetings. They've had over the course of the last two years, President Trump grabbing the translators notes. Keeping keeping what he and Putin said. You know, it's one thing to keep that from the American people. I get it. I get that. There are times that presidents when they speak to heads of other countries, they need to keep that stuff secret. But according to this report, President Trump has done what he could do to keep it all secret from even his top officials his top intelligence officials his top cabinet officials. That's not right. All americans. I think should be concerned about this. What's President Trump trying to hide how come how come President Trump hasn't wanted to even the people who work for him at the highest levels, like his secretary of state.

"What's the time? It's so subjective to you don't really know. By the way, the seven seven nine says, they should have nabbed you. They shouldn't have me now that you should have been nabbed eighty one. Did they didn't adding? I mean, they caught you. And then they let you go. It was a catch-and-release warning. They got a warning I have a formal warning. There was a conversation. And there was a conversation. I learned my lesson. The rest of the way, I was going relatively slow you were behaving. The most part. I wanted to say is that over the weekend a state trooper lost his life, and there was an accident up in Northbrook there. There's no reason ever to put anybody in danger. There's no reason when you see emergency vehicles. This is the really the saddest thing. He's a young father who is considered to be somebody who was such a go getter well respected and trooper Christopher Lambert was struck on Saturday when he responded to a crash in the left shoulder of to ninety four. Now, I was on the I was leaving downtown yesterday. I came down to to meet somebody. So it was around. It was around three o'clock, and I was trying to get onto the Kennedy and all of a sudden all every lane of the Kennedy, Ohio. Feeder ramp was shut down. And when you get closer you saw that they were cop cars block it off. So mmediately, your your mind goes up. There was an accident. This is so annoying. So we were all diverted, and I had to go back around go. I had to go, you know, farther south and get off at Madison Madison thinking, I'll loop back around and get on the Kennedy that ramp was closed, and it wasn't until so a lot of cars is all trying to figure out what what was going on. And you start getting annoyed. You start getting angry? You're like what the hell's going on? I can't find this anywhere. And as I was pulled over just kind of trying to figure out where to go. I saw the procession and you realized I realized that all the lanes were closed in order to make room for the procession for state trooper Lambert, and it gave me pause to thank you know, what I'll I'll find a ramp. I'll get home soon. And here's a father whose one year old daughter will see her father again. So please, please be safe on the roads. Please be aware of what you're doing.
