Today's episode is on pole trivia, which is a fun plan words from Matt Pollock, who is a friend of mine, trivia player and now a trivia host for the trivia with buds brand in Southern California. He hosts every Friday at ogopogo brewing in San Gabriel, California, a great place to grab a beer in 1906 incorporated a bar and restaurant at the upland country club in upland California. On Thursdays at 6 o'clock. So go check out all the amazing things going on in Southern California by clicking on weekly shows. Trivia buds dot com, top right hand corner, weekly shows you can play with Matt, and you can see my events in east Tennessee there as well. Today's episode ten questions and a bonus on chickens, but before we get to that, our family feud blockbuster movie edition faceoff survey says question. Name a movie remake that wasn't as good as the original. Remember on this show they survey a hundred people and they get the responses and this came out in 2019. Name a movie remake that wasn't as good as the original. 5 answers on the board. And all right, here we go. Number 5 is total recall, four people said that, total recall with Colin Farrell in place of Arnold Schwarzenegger in the 2010s, I want to say. Next up was Aladdin. The Will Smith Aladdin, yeah, not so good. 5 people said that. That was the number four spot. Number three, The Wizard of Oz, that's interesting. What is the remake of The Wizard of Oz like Oz the great and the powerful or the whiz or something like that? I don't think there's a proper just Wizard of Oz remake, but 7 people said that. The next one was dumbo, another Disney movie, Tim Burton movie, never saw it. Ten people said that, and number one in 2019 was Ghostbusters, so I think they are talking about the female cast Ghostbusters here. 32 people said that when surveyed for this game and the newer one with Paul Rudd, I think had higher reviews, but I still don't have a huge inkling to see it. I'll probably watch it eventually, but I'm not a huge Ghostbusters or Jurassic Park guy. I like all those movies fine, but I don't like go nuts when they come out. All right, there we go. A little warm up with family feud, blockbuster edition, and now we're on to chicken trivia. Here we go. Chicken trivia, question number one. What was? The first name of KFC proprietor, Colonel Sanders. Number one, what was Colonel Sanders first name? Number one. Number two cowan chicken was an animated series that started in 97 on what television network. Number two, cowan chicken was an animated series that started in 97 on what network. Number three gyro gear loose was a chicken character that appeared on what 80s and 2010s reboot series. Number three, gyro gear loose was a chicken character that appeared on an 80s series, and then a 2010s reboot series. What show was that? "The NASA minute. With Kevin mason. My wife's at home with the family this week had taken care of the business, so she's going to be the one dodging the Legos on the floor. With all those little nieces and nephews running around, they love their Legos. And while Legos have been around, I think my entire lifetime, I was never really a LEGO kid growing up. I know Legos have come and gone, back in my day, they were just simply the red and yellow and blue blocks. They were all little rectangles and squares, and that was about it. You didn't have little boards to put them on. You didn't have little people heads. You didn't have all those kind of little pieces and parts that go with them. But now Legos are being targeted to adults in a different way. A company's coming into national to do a pop up bar at one of the local bars, and it's going to be a LEGO bar. And basically what they're going to do is have LEGO games and LEGO parties and let people build with Legos, but more importantly, drink while playing with Legos. I don't know what Legos have to do with entertainment at a bar. I guess it's the new hot trivia night kind of thing. The biggest problem I always worry about, stepping on them, and more importantly, doing that in your bare feet. Making Legos appeal to adults, I guess there's got to be drinking involved, doesn't there?

"Game where a lack of seriousness meets a little bit of knowledge. My name is Neil and we're all fed here. We just had lunch. How are you feeling Matt? Oh, very, very satiated by the food person that gave us food. And how do you feel third week back in studio? I'm getting my bearings, I'm trying to get my groove back in the seat, you know? And how are you feeling about the Chicago polls now that you're back home? Still, well, maybe not three and I don't know what the record is, but I think they're doing great. The winning record from the future. And that's Blackhawks not doing so well. Well, we'll see. We'll see what it's like in two months when this airs. Okay, well, hopefully. But right now, not good. We always very poorly. Right now, there is a zero in the wind column. Zero on the wind column, and Jeff, what is the name of the racer that you like? Monk asked or something? What is it? Oh, no, no. I was talking about the Charles Leclerc. And he's from Monaco, which makes him monegasque. Okay, he makes good pastries too. They have cream in it, right? It's just a joke. It's just a joke. You know, we got to review that said, if you don't listen to this week to week, good luck knowing what's going on and I starting to agree with this. For this reviewer. But you know what? We should listen week to week. That's true. You shouldn't. Speaking of reviews actually, we're trying to get 500, and I think we're right over 400. So if you can leave us a review, it actually helped because we found out from our recent survey that all of our wonderful listeners filled out that a lot of you found the show just by searching trivia on your podcast app and all those reviews are going to help us. So if you don't mind, we had one that said I want to see Matt and Jeff fight, which is a great review. Yeah. We'll do that. We'll do that. Yeah. We'll do it. So please leave us a review on iTunes or stitcher or wherever.

"The mason minute. With Kevin mason. There are some foods in life. You really don't even think about. You just eat. Potatoes are one of those foods for me. I don't care if it's mashed, baked, fried, dotted. I love potatoes. They're filling, and well, they get the job done. What I didn't realize is where potatoes come from. I don't even think about it. Here in America, we think, well, they're from Idaho because Idaho grows the most potatoes. But I found out the other day when I was just reading the trivia question online that the potato actually comes from a wild plant located in southern Peru and parts of Bolivia, unknown to the entire world until the Spanish conquest of the Americas in the 1600s. And I wonder how they knew to eat or find it. That's the interesting part to me. And once you think about that, well, how exactly did they decide to bake it and fry it and mash it? Well, it's just fascinating stuff to me. And I got lost for about an hour reading about the genus of potatoes. I know most people don't even think about it anymore. It's just one of those things from the time we're a kid. We start eating and we either love or we hate. I don't know many people who don't love potatoes in some form or fashion.

"What it be and welcome to another episode of, the trivia with buds, podcast. I'm your host Ryan buds. Thanks for checking out the show. Today's episode all about mad related things from movie titles to songs to characters and more that feature the word Matt, so get ready for that in just a few. I just cracked a can of Boone's creek lager from Johnson City brewing company. It's an American lager, brewed right in JC TN, where I live. And it's specifically brewed at Boone's creek with Boone's creek spring water. So just putting that out there, they don't pay me to say that, but I do love this brewery, and it's four minutes from my house. It's the closest I've ever lived to a bar or a brewery. So it's my new favorite place, especially when it gets really nice out. They have a huge stage in their backyard. It's basically just a house like on four acres and you can drink all inside the house in different rooms, and then they have a little bar, and then out back, they have a big porch and a huge wooden stage with lights over it and picnic tables. It's going to be awesome. To host trivia there in the summer, and if you live anywhere near Johnson City, Tennessee on Wednesday, march 23rd, I'll be hosting Harry Potter trivia. At that very location, Johnson City brewing company Boone's creek location. They have two locations, one downtown one in Boone's creek. That one's close to me. And I hope to see you there. It's totally free. 6 30 p.m., tell my website, trivia with buds dot com. Here's your geek out card before we get into some mad trivia. I want you to name two films in which a character is in a wheelchair. 6 fictional TV towns for book titles that take place in France. Two songs in which a police siren is heard. And four U.S. Olympians. Those are your challenges for today. We're all warmed up. We're ready to go. And we're going to jump into some mad trivia right now. Here we go. It's trivia that's gone absolutely mad. It's mad trivia. Question number one, mad world by Gary Jules, was on the soundtrack to what 2001 film. What Are Shadow Governments?

"Is a shadow government we can and do have shadow governments working very hard behind the scenes we can use the definition of shadow to also partly define a shadow government. Well according to this belief the officially elected government is subservient to the shadow government. Which is the true executive power in the tampa bay times april twenty eighth nineteen ninety three an article entitled light is cast on shadow government by thomas churchill done he says the phrase the shadow government was actually coined by an imaginative editorial writer for the tampa tribune. This unknown wordsmith figured readers would be intrigued by ominous talk of sinister conspiracy at work. A mysterious shadow government spinning. It's evil web over an unsuspecting citizenry. Well whether or not you want to see a shadow government happening you have to admit that it might be true an op. Ed news dot com piece on august. Second twenty twenty one entitled trump's shadow cabinet is part of the ongoing coup. It says here. Even though the number of dying trump followers increases daily his coup rolls on now and the trump shuttle universe. he's created a shadow government for his shadow fans. It's not as wacky and idea as it seems suggests trump's solidifying his control over the gop going toward twenty twenty two and twenty twenty four. Well here's another one from the detroit. Free press on march seventh two thousand and two way back when i found this of interest about a shadow government it says here a shadow government. A government not elected by the voters. Holy outside the purview of the. Us constitution all members appointed to their posts by george w bush with no say by the us.

What is Group-Think?

"What is group. Think i hear a lot of people asking what exactly that is on social media and all over the place people are wondering we will go to the dictionary for a rough definition before we get deep into what group inc really is. Well the merriam webster. Online dictionary defined group think as a pattern of thought characterized by self-deception forced manufacturing of consent and conformity to group values and ethics. Well that gives us kind of a definition but we want more. If the definition isn't enough i can always direct individuals to the book. Nineteen eighty four by george orwell for a perfect example but not everybody has a time or energy to sit and read nineteen eighty-four a book that was written with complete clarity and realism in nineteen forty eight. How did george orwell know that we would be facing a time in the future when group think would be a real concern. Well because groupthink has been around forever well really a long time and the united states since about nineteen thirty and last week's episode. I mentioned that people are tribal and love to be in groups and that's so true people of all races nationalities experiences and different environments. Feel at home with their like minded counterparts. There is no doubt and by the way. There's nothing wrong with that. There are the obvious groups such as demographics due to race color national origin these are groups that are instilled as reminders of cultural values and norms of that set of people. And that's a great thing. These groups have become more prevalent in the last decade or so. These groups have staying power because race isn't going anywhere. And how about the many many other groups there have been political groups republican democrat groups but also the green party the national socialist democratic party. And so much
