"His car. And off. He was so good. I hope gave neighbors is listening so he can just as a wine. Justin parks at the grocery store he comes back. There's a line of like 400 carts behind his car. Kill these patriots. Herbert, angry. All right, and then Fernando Ramirez tweeted out that Tristan vizcaino leads the NFL with 5 extra points missed this season. He's leading me so it's a good thing he believes the league. Winner. He is the best. Since the extra point was moved back in 2015, the record for the most misses in a single season is 7. Good thing we did is according more touchdowns against Baltimore. We got to beat that record. That was the one thing that was really frustrating is seeing everybody tweeting about Michael badgley and like, oh, he was perfect and he did such a good game. Don't you guys miss him? No. No, because he missed when he was with us. If he was great when he was here, then, of course, we'd miss him because we'd be like, why did we let him go? But no, it's just obviously finding a good kicker. Justin Tucker is just really tough to find in this league. Yeah. Clutch guys. You know, coach talked about it. It's like mental. This is a mental thing. How do you get over this? How do you, man? How do you fix that mental side of the game? I like it. I don't know. I don't know. I don't think threatening their job makes them. So it sounds like this stuff. Like I said, last week, it just doesn't feel like they're going to get rid of him. It was unfortunate that he missed that kick. And it's also unfortunate that we never got in the end zone or anywhere near a place that he could try again to even the day. That's a positive way to look at it. I'm getting real close to not being able to be on this Kano training. As positive I want to be about the situation. I am so close to just like, I can't you can't lose this game because we miss one extra point. It's just not acceptable. Right. Yeah. Luckily, it hasn't lost us a game yet, but that doesn't mean it's not going to. Coach has to go balls out and go for two. Like all this crazy stuff. Well, and we're making this kind of like positive sandwich, you know, we'll talk about something positive, maybe we'll have something needs to be worked on. Come back to something possible. Multilayer. Yes, we're going back to theater. One of the positive finder finder median at the end. Yes. We'll all bring it back to the middle here. But one of the positive things that I guess did come out of this game who thought there was one, Justin Herbert is now over 6000 career passing yards, eclipsing the mark in his 21st game becoming the second fastest player in the NFL history to do so. Patrick Mahomes did it in 19 games. So it's crazy. Just a reminder of how tough this division is with these two quarterbacks playing and just playing great. Yeah, and people I don't know, I've seen what I saw one comment. I don't know if it's widespread yet, but if you start chipping or start chirping about Justin Herbert, not being elite because of one game shame. Shame on you. Your big card revoked. Yeah. That was a team. That was a team L that was not adjusted Herbert had a terrible game. He was off on a couple balls. There was drop passes. There was not being able to run the ball. It was a whole team thing. Come on, come on. Come on. All of a sudden now say, oh, he's got stuff to work on. Come on. Well, and I totally get the fan reaction of being pissed off and wanted to point out. Do it. Be you, do what you gotta do, but at the same time, don't be upset when other people are like, I'm not gonna throw people under the bus for just because I'm upset. Right. Yeah, just not everyone works that way. So, you know, and don't let people that are super negative bring it down either like to fall down. It's just a lot easier just to deflect deflect deflect. You know? Just if that's how you deal with it, you know, a power to you, but it's not for everybody. No. And honestly, I think bolt beat was the one that made the tweet about all the other previous Super Bowl winning teams that just had bad losses in their season as a reminder that one game does not define the season or the team. Right. It was just a bad game. And if anything, you know, gave us at least an insight into what could potentially be a playoff game. We could see these guys again in the playoffs. Like I think it was not last year, but the year before, when we saw Baltimore, we got our butts banked in the regular season, but then the playoff game came around and hello, chargers came to play and kick their butts on the playoffs. So it's true. Anything could happen. It's in any given Sunday situation. Anything can happen. Yeah. And it's the ravens. The ravens lost to the Raiders and week one. You know, it's like any it's just every week to week. It's so difficult to be, I don't know, I guess you're right, Kevin. I don't want to call people out. It's just it's hard to be a fan if you get that emotional and that snap judgment. For me, I can't do that. I don't think I would survive this season if one bad game caused me to like, yeah, it's just, I don't know. For me, that's just not a fun way to be a fan. Because when was the last time there was an undefeated team? It's been a long time. A bit of very long time. You know, losses are going to happen. It's just how we handle it and how the team handles bouncing back from it. I think if you're going to lose like this, do it before the bi weeks you have two weeks to recharge pun intended. And we always think about it sitting at and then get better. And we all agree that there's stuff that they need to get better at. Absolutely. This year. We are far famed. Hell no. No. And looking at the other side of the ball, Lamar Jackson apparently had his worst game of the season. He only went for 19 for 27 passing with a 167 yards, a touchdown and two interceptions. So our secondary is legit. You can clearly see that our defense is good on the back end. Like those guys that what he's doing and how he's playing what they're doing and how they're playing. That is one of the strengths of our team. These quarterbacks are not doing that great. But they just ran all over us, whatever they felt like it. Everybody knows that we struggle with the run. And they take advantage of that, a 100%. They're attacking. And coach said in his post camera, they didn't have any big plays. I think their goal is to just minimize big plays, which they did for the most part. But we had barely had time of possession in that game. They just called the whole time. When they run on us like that, they definitely maintain the clock. But on the other bright side, folks that we need to look at here is that the Chargers will face the fourth easiest schedule to close out the remainder of the season. These first 6 games were tough teams, these were tough teams that we were going up against. And obviously, like, the Dallas game, we were so close in. I mean, we beat ourselves in that game and this Baltimore game was just a bad game. That's really all it was. But looking at the other wins, like the other four games that we played, like we won those games. Then we were like, Kyle mentioned earlier, we were expecting to go into this bi week or hoping to go in this bio week, you know, 500, you know, three for three, but now we're going into it four for two. And if you look at the remainder of the schedule, you've got New England, Philadelphia, Minnesota Pittsburgh, Denver twice, Cincinnati, New York, Kansas City, Houston, and Las Vegas. These are all attainable games, like none of them are going to be given gimmes. We know not to be in that mindset that these are going to be easy games necessarily. But they're gettable. We can now get this. We can make this happen. So excited about it. The standard has been set. You know, you come in and you play these intent very good playoff caliber teams to start your season. And then you start stepping it's not that they get way worse. It's just the quality level across the board on these other teams isn't what we've been facing. And I think our stuff's gonna, you know, the little things that were killing us are gonna be level out a little bit. It might make it a little easier to move forward, but they still gotta get better every week. And get help get better. We got a couple. We are gonna.

"Pick on the under that did not hit Obviously some owen one to start the smell test This weekend I did play the cowboys. Plus ten right before kickoff. They went to nine and a half. I bought the half point. Played them plus the ten. So it actually worked out perfectly. That i was able to win that to offset the loss On the under and the cowboys still lost the game which. I was rooting for them to lose the game But there were just too many people on nbc. All the people that are on that broadcast they all pick tampa bay and the line. I'm like wha- at some point maybe i'm getting value plus ten All right let's get to sunday washington and the chargers first game of the year here. We are first game of the year One of the things. I'm interested in really kind of crowd. Is there going to be at the game on sunday. What kind of crowd will there be. I'm gonna guess it's a really good crowd supposed to be a beautiful day on sunday. Not hot on sunday. Not rainy on sunday. I said not hot. I just pulled up the updated forecast up to on sunday Eighty nine degrees. So it's gonna be a little bit warm but First game of the year is optimistic is the fan base or what's left of. It has been in a long long time. I don't know that they'll sell the game out I think there are a long way from selling it out or they were a week and a half ago but they are expecting a big late. Push in tickets are readily available at incredible prices so I'm i'm expecting a decent sized crowd. Sunday i would say north of sixty thousand and i don't think it's going to be a lot of charger fans. I could be way wrong. It might be forty thousand in half charger fans. I don't think so though not for the owner. You know the indianapolis home opener in two thousand eighteen. Alex smith first game adrian. Peterson's first game they were one after beating. The cardinals really was one of the more jarring Reminders of how low the franchise it sunk. They had fifty one thousand there for an opener with a one and a football team. A beautiful day I don't know. I sense that there's a little bit more excitement for sunday. We'll see But my guess is sixty thousand plus maybe not a sell out maybe large blotch is here and there of empty seats especially up top but i think a very enthusiastic excited optimistic crowd on sunday. That's what i'm guessing right. Washington wins if. Let me start with this. It's really hard when you haven't seen either team in a real game in a new season and it's even harder when one of those two teams is a totally new team with a new coaching staff. So this is. I'm going to steer clear of cliche stuff like when the turnover battle make a big play here whatever it is. You know But i i'm gonna come up with a few things that i thought about As i've you know analyzed as much as you can both of these teams we know more about washington than we do. The chargers number one washington beats the chargers if they win in the trenches. That may sound cliche to some of you. I think they can win. In the in the in the trenches especially with this strength of their team which is their defensive front against a pretty much largely revamped but unknown and untested chargers offensive line. The chargers biggest issues going into this off season was offensive line. They went out in drafted. Rashawn slater in the first round at northwestern by the way slater played very well against chase young when they played against each other northwestern against ohio state. They drafted him. He's going to be their starting left tackle and they signed corey lansley from green bay to be their center excellent center. They lost hunter. Henry they added. Jared cook at tight. End i think washington's front four has to dominate. I think it's really important that they really make justin. herbert sweat with montanez and with chase young and matt ionitsis and jon allen and doron pain dominate this brand new offensive line. That barely played at all in the preseason and win the game right there on. Defense totally disrupting justin herbert. I think that's a key by the way in the trenches also means flipping it around to the other side. They have joey bosa they jerry. Tillery the washington revamped offensive line with leno and caused me and flowers has to do a really good job of keeping these people from disrupting the game on the other side. What's interesting is when you hear ron rivera and scott. Turner and others talk about their team. They seem so optimistic about the offensive line. I think they really feel like they have good players in the cosmi's very much up to You know the the the the stage here on sunday and that they've got a much better left tackle and leno than they didn't cornelius lucas. That flowers is a really good edition. And they've got some depth there Keeping bosa and tillery and You know during james if he's coming on a on a safety blitz. he's got a chance to be a comeback player of the year Keeping them away from fitzpatrick and disrupting the game in the trenches. There is huge in this game. Really interesting matchups. Washington strength against a totally revamped in unknown chargers offensive line in front of by the way a rookie of the year quarterback from last year and then washington's revamped offensive line that the coaching staff is super confident about against a very good defensive line in the chargers d. line is well washington beats the chargers if they cover the tight end and the running backs now austin lower was dnp yesterday for the second straight day. Don't know what'll happen today if there without eker. That's big now. I do like justin jackson their backup running back Out of northwestern but herbert last year relied on hunter. Henry and austin actor a hell of a lot now. He pushes the ball down the field to but hunter henry was a big time target for him and cook will be as well and ecker was a big time. Check down Guy and ecuador really is good and versatile in space as a receiver washington's got to do a good job with their linebackers and they're safeties in covering the tight end and tackling the running back. Whomever it is. That's in space after a check down after maybe a quick pass rush going to have to do a really good job there thirdly They've got to be better on special teams this year and this may sound sort of cliche but they have a brand new kicker. The chargers do badgley was a disaster for them. Last year they would have probably gone eight eight or nine seven. Had they had a better kicker. They've got a dude named tristan vizcaino who's kicking big I big time stage for him for mr vizcaino if that's how you pronounce it And he will be kicking against dustin hopkins who has to be more consistent. This year has to be more consistent. And i think this game could come down to big plays special teams. We've got a new kick returner this year and de'andre carter. They seemed very bullish on him. I had ron rivera on the show this morning. He comes on the radio. Show every friday morning at eight. Am you can listen to that by downloading the odyssey app. And listen to ron rivera..

"Ago. Yeah knocked out for hours. Go and do something like this. Yeah totally comes back. Ready and raring than ever. I gotta imagine coaches fired based off all the moves. That have happened lately. So i wasn't if there wasn't so much to talk about i've been this later. I feel like. I owe it to our fan base to come on here and try to walk people through the pitchforks and the the suicide threats in a. I'm leaving this team right. I'm trying to figure out who who got more angry when the chargers moved to la or when we waived seeds at. Billy cut cut just in herbert or something. Everyone lost their goddamn minds. Absolutely yeah i. I can understand the emotion from because as soon as i saw it. I was just as like i. My hair was if i had hair would have been blown back because it was just like it was unexpected right talking about that tape billy you wait at at the training camp. He was the number three and he was making clear. Plays going off. And then he got a little injury. And it's like you never got back into the graces. Well i think there's a lot of speculation in regards to why we let him go As far as what brandon staley had to say about it In regards to waving bill he said it was a tough one. A really tough one. T- billy has done a lot for this team in past and he did some good things for us in camp That was one of the tougher conversations that i had today. I think that we have a really deep receiver room. We do there's a lot of competition. I think that it's just one of the things One of the things where it's more numbers. Not so much. How we feel about him as a player because a lot of respect for his game Just where we're at from a number standpoint and then The kicking game being a big aspect of those back and receive a roles Just felt like going in this direction would be the right direction for us right now. They just have no no faith in him on. Special teams is what they're saying. It feels like yeah which honestly like what is the one thing we need to improve more than anything in. The world is special team so if if our coaching staff is looking at this so intently and so microscopic that he. There's another player that could be slightly better for us on special teams are willing to cut them. It's just still kind of confusing. I don't quite know why we got rid of him. Yeah i it's tough to say i was. I don't know. I feel like. I'm grasping at straws. And speculating trying to figure out a reason behind it. But i think it's best just to like come to terms with it again. We still have keenan allen. Mike williams jalen guidon. Josh palmer who we just picked up Who am i missing. there's to be else. Yeah that that's that's the hardest. Part is u k j hill. And you let go of t. Billy like k j hill is not proven himself as a special teamer Like he's he had a couple here and there but nothing to the point. Where i think he's that much better than Than what we've seen from t- billy on the field so and then you see what happens as soon as waiver start to be claimed. Who do the number one waiver on number one on the waiver wire is the jacksonville jaguars who they take billy capability like. That's just how you know you made a mistake as when you know you. Must the other teams know how good he is. Also it's not just what us fans thought so. Yeah there's there's men it it's been all you know rainbows and butterflies for charger fans in terms of nothing to really get upset about but man when there's an opportunity to get upset about something we know how to do it. Will gao crazy us. Here's what i think we should do at getting upset about. It doesn't do any good because nothing you can do to change it. What you do those. You put it away in the file folder. For the season in your file in my back pocket. I'm ready to polar the moment. I it's just don't play you guys in the preseason. We don't know how that's gonna work out until the things proceed and see what happens with injuries. And if we're rusty week one. That was what also kind of surprised me i didn't. I forgot to mention it when we were talking about preseason games but when we played seattle and i think even the game prior against the forty niners when tyron johnson was playing We're so used to seeing him. Going for those deep balls to go down to make those big deep catches but all of the catch is that he was making where those kinds of short just check down passes where he maybe get like three or four yards if he was lucky in. I mean i don't know if that's in due in part to the line just crumbling around him and it's just like fuck. I can't wait for you to get down there. You like gotta get this call now. I think there's an element of what it's like. They're not running these really deep routes in those lessons that lasts games because they didn't have enough time to time but i don't i don't know it's interesting why you know we should have really looked at it like why was the projected third round player. Still playing in that final preseason in the fourth quarter like we didn't really look at that and none of that raised the flag but hindsight like what else went on here to really make this decision. Because you're but like you said grasping at straws like trying to really find reason why this makes sense but it doesn't unless there's some the only way i justified as if there's some character thing that we don't know about that it wouldn't be a good fit for the team like okay. Well then that okay. That's just but it doesn't sound like that's what the case was unless brandon staley's just being being nice about it but he's been forthcoming about everything so far so i'm not gonna say that he's not being forthcoming about this. Oh yeah just the head scratcher. It's a head scratcher for sure And you know. Best to t- billy we he was great when we had them I think some of us kind of held our breath hoping that he might end up on the practice squad but obviously he was just too good of a player in jacksonville picked him up Speaking of cuts folks Attention listeners across the galaxy all the way from australia houston. There was another kind of surprise. I mean i say it was a surprise but at the same time. I'm actually kind of the writing on the wall. It just but it was so it was such it right the first time. We predicted something appropriately. Podcast so i'm excited about that In what were alluding to folks is the release of the money badger. Michael badgley was let go making way for tristan. Vizcaino to be our kicker the volcano. He made it made it through Brands daily had this to say about tristen ultimately. What convinced me. Tom and our coaching staff about tristen was that this guy has real talent. This guy has real leg strength. We feel like he has a lot of ability. He's at the beginning of his football journey. We felt that if there's a product in there that if we continue to tap into that development that there's a really talented player there then the kickoff aspect of the job was really important. We feel like he has a really special.

"Day. Indeed some really interesting decision. Say yes and again guy. So if you guys weren't with us when we did this fifty three man. And what do we do. Prediction the prediction. Thank you jamie. Thanks for the three men predictions prediction. I was looking for the word. You didn't give it to me. You got feel free. A shout out the comments We are live on the lightning round. Podcasts youtube we live on the lightning round twitter and we're also on the bolt from the blue facebook page. So thank you guys for listening. Kevin hughes appreciate ya little ghost dis. Hello listen to you for years i. It's one thirty. this has been a wild day. Some cracking a beer already cheers jamie. Who needs work so How do you wanna do. You wanna go over like special teams. I and lead up to it. Or how do you want to. How do you want to do this thing. Why don't we ask defense. How do they wanna hear it. Yes how do you oh man. There's so many comments about this so all right well. Let's who cares with this is all right. So let's let's start with all the stuff that doesn't matter and that is the kicker-punter and long snapper. The chargers ended up going with long. Snapper bat overton co maza was hurt so he did not make the team long of course only opponent on the roster so he made it and the big surprise of this group. I guess you could say. Is that the kicker tristen viscaya no made it and michael badgley the money. Badger is now out yeah. I don't know that it's a huge surprise vizcaino one just because i think they were looking for something could kick the ball into the endzone on kickoffs but to say that he won. The competition is a bit of a stretch the missed his last kicking camp and the preseason i should say so i wouldn't necessarily say that tristan vizcaino head and shoulders won the job for michael badgley. But i think the coaches figure. They needed that stronger lead. Maybe they think that they can mold that stronger leg into a more reliable kicker badgley we know badgley had issues with kicks over. Forty five yards could put the ball in the end zone. I think there were probably some a mental issues going on there to some confidence issues that he had to work through and they just decided to go with the younger fresher leg and the stronger lead. Yeah so no big surprise there. And i know some people are tied to kicker but i don't i really don't care about this and they could quite possibly just get rid of this guy you know and pick up somebody else like joe sly or somebody else. They could each saying they could pull a lions and cut both their kickers. I'm saying well. They could replace it with one. I think the lions just go no kicker at all they cut one to keep one but yeah i mean yeah. This is no big news but of course you know it was surprise. There was a definitely a big battle and camp with between tristan and michael badgley so visit the answer. I mean he can kick into the end zone. That's really all that matters. I mean obviously field goals count but they were so neck and neck and camp that this could miss his last kick in. The preseason is still make the team so obviously it wasn't it was a race but it wasn't all that close if you look at how the results ended up. So let's just go down. We'll talk about quarterbacks. We'll start with offense work our way to defense. 'cause i know we want to get too wide receivers here soon so we will keep you in the dark too long early on. We didn't think it was going to happen. We thought the charge. Only gonna keep two quarterbacks bo staley and to lesko confirmed after the game. They're last game on sunday. That they're going to go with three quarterbacks and they did just in herbert chase. Daniel eastern stickier three quarterbacks for the chargers. Yeah i mean we. We've been pretty vocal about our our stance on this three quarterback thing all preseason we've been saying since we started the show what eight years ago however long. Row so yeah. I think people know how we feel about the three kicker thing not a fan. Three kickers quarterbacks quarterback sorry got kicked her on the brain after. Start with the kicker. Everybody knows how we feel about three quarterback thing. I like i said on sunday. You don't have time to develop a third string quarterback during the regular season. He's not gonna be getting any snaps unless he's on the scout team so to think that they're going to develop stick into something. Anything is probably better reach I think that's kind of a waste of roster spot. In my opinion. I get the concern over code needing somebody in waiting in the wings in the in the event. Koga i think they probably couldn't cut stick found another quarterback to stash on the on the practice squad. That was a concern but Here we are free quarterbacks. Yes yeah yeah. We've been very vocal about it. Not too happy about three quarterbacks even less happy for three kickers but yeah. I mean you know we've been we've been talking about this battle between daniel stick and i don't think it was ever really that close. I think daniel was the quarterback to and still remains to be the quarterback to and eastern stick. Is this developmental projects that they like to keep around and you know even though they made their fifty three cuts. There's going to be a lot of cuts after this when they start picking up guys on the waiver wire hair africa so while some people might not be happy about some decisions there are going to be some other moves made in may be six one of them. We don't know it's a sneaky way of getting them past that first wave of initial cuts where everybody's in the waiver wire and then when teams start director. If you start to cook is then afterwards as less likely that your guy gets picked up off the waiver wire. So that's also possibility to but for now the roster sticks with three quarterbacks herbert daniels stick and they went with three quarterbacks after all and then for running backs they can't for You and i kept technically five. We count gave neighbors count him. Sure we'll we'll include running backs fullbacks together. You and i both had four. I had them cutting neighbors. You had them cutting Kelly but kept everybody automatically. Justin jackson joshua kelly writ larry roundtree gabe neighbors dearest. Bradwell did not make it but also a practice squad candidate for sure. Yeah.
