"Keep him. He's got a taney. He made this is something else that I want to talk about at some point down the road, but be at the Tristan McKenzie for Spencer's strider trade was fascinating to me last year. Involved Kaiser and Abby, who were both out of it, and you don't often see those types of trades, but it was basically a challenge trade against non contenders at the time and I think Andrew is winning it right now, but I could see Tristan Mackenzie taking the next step this season and making that a little closer and maybe there is some regression for Spencer strider who knows. So here's the weird part with kaiserstein. So you get to like Stephen Quan who he can keep for cheap. And like it's just a really unexciting but yeah, he's still probably going to get play like every day and like hitting the top four for the guardians. I don't think Tommy Edmund, I don't know what the cardinals are doing with Tommy Edmund. He has good final line numbers, but like Q is dropped in that order pretty significantly. He's probably maybe he keeps spreading baddie. But this is basically what he's got. I mean, he's got Riley, he's got Luis Robert. He's not one of Franco. He's got Chavez oni. He's got Mackenzie. He's got O'Neill cruise. He's got Anthony Rizzo for 5 bucks. He's got Steven Kwan for 6 bucks. And I guess you could make the case for him and as it's only $73, he's at two 83, which is basically like right in the middle. He needs pitching. He's hitting his hitter heavy. So I'm curious to see if he goes out and gets like maybe he's someone that goes and gets a Grom or a Castillo or someone of that ilk, you know, that could work. If I was him, I would. For sure, I mean, he needs to make a couple moves. There's nobody at that level really jumping out at me in terms of, yeah, he's cheap. And he's got cheap answer. Like where does that look like? And there's a little bit of extra dough, the next Joe. But I think if he does, plays his cards right, he can get a little another picture to throw another arm that yeah. And I'm just gonna say that this was the first one that I thought Andrew would approach. Because if you look at sale, let's see, Austin Riley and Shohei Ohtani. They each keep for ten, as opposed to going and buying Soto and Acuna, go by like those two for probably about the same price and then you're keeping them at a much cheaper price moving forward. And that is fairly presumptuous. I mean, why would Kaiser treat Otani or Riley for that matter? I mean, Acuna made sense, right? Because it's like, I just assumed he was going to get tossed back. Soto not that I think so we'll get to his back. The acox compared to ten bucks is pretty big. I mean, in the scheme of things, as you were coming from, I would too if I was happy, but I don't know the Kaiser would make that move. If I was casual I wouldn't make that move. You give me 80 bucks, I'm not giving you a tiny Riley. Oh, no, no, no. I mean, I need more than that. I'm talking about one 25. 100 and 40 bucks. Yeah. Yeah, definitely at least a hundred bucks. I'd look at that. I'd look at that if I was Kaiser, but then as you spend that money on, then he goes, Joe musgrove, he goes and gets Boise. He buys some guys off Matt. You go do a lot with that hundred bucks and balances. I think Kaiser could make a $100 worth of booze and do some damage with that even with what he has in his life. But he could go drive a hundred bucks. Not that I think the ground would go for a hundred bucks, but he could drop that onto calm and wow, still. Jacob gets tossed back, you can bet your fucking ass is going for a hundred bucks. What do you mean to tell us that? I think he could be in the drawer and he can get to play. Oh, you think he'll go for a hundred bucks. That's interesting. What about that? I'm saying, I'm saying just mathematically, if you were to, I

"Roughly equally reasonable Isaac. What would it be? I mean, 'cause like isn't there a scenario where. I just don't wanna think that it's only gonna be the Yankees and the Astros and the Dodgers and the braves, but I think it might be all of those teams. I mean, maybe Garrett. That's all right, will not be all of them right even though probably to them individually is favored. The odds are in favor of some upset somewhere. So for instance, like, you go through the Yankees and you're like, okay, so the Yankees are gonna have a fully rusted Garrett Cole on them out. And you're like, oh, Gary Cole for Gary Cole has been kind of vulnerable. What's one of the things that he's been most vulnerable to this year, Ben. It's the home run. Get an answer for you. Guess what team doesn't hit very many of those. The guardians. They did hit them when they needed them as we noted in the wild card recap, but not a team that's gonna thump, so then you're like, all right, I guess you got a string stuff together against the Yankees and cow Cointreau has to keep it together. And then you go to the next game and you're like, well, Nestor Cortez is really, really good. Shane Bieber's good, but he's not what he once was, so do you feel really good about that? I don't know. And then you have severino, who is who looked really good in the recent tuna, but Tristan Mackenzie's excellent, so it's just like, you know, you can try to talk yourself into stuff. I'm not even going to touch the Mariners Astros. We'll touch it in a moment, but you don't have to pick them. You can recuse yourself. Yeah, I will recuse myself. And then, and no, I'll take a stand because I have a lot of experience being honest about the shortcomings of the Mariners. This is one of the good things about being a Mariners fan is that you can, you know, you have no choice, but to a grapple with reality. But yeah, and then you look at like you can feel these braves and they get to they get to have max free. Now they don't get as much Spencer strider as they wanted, but they're going to have a lot of sponsor strider for a long time I guess we should mention that they extended Spencer strider. Yes. Literally between when we last talked about how the braves have extended all of their position players and the only guy they haven't really done is stridor and then I guess read. Who is under team control? Anyway, it's needed to do this evidently, but they did. Why not? We've got to catch them all. So it's 6 years, 75 million with an option. For 20 and a buyout for 2029. Right. But for $22 million and a $5 million buyout. Yes. So let's keep some under team control, even longer than he would have been anyway. So if they're just going to keep this group together forever, seemingly, but they still don't know about his availability or at least we don't know about his availability for the series. It sounds like he's probably going to pitch. It's not clear in what capacity, whether he will be kind of an opener, piggyback with someone or he could pitch and relief because he's done that or maybe he will just be able to go and we'll see, but it's a pretty big factor for this series just because it's a step down from strider to, say, J co to strider was one of the best pictures in baseball. It was moved to the rotation. Is fine. It's fine, but it's not sponsored. So I would pick the guardians as the most likely upset team. Again, I'm not saying that the odds are wrong and that they should actually be favored or anything. I'm just saying. Yankees, they feel vulnerable to me. If you look at their second half, they were not that impressive. They finished somewhat strong right now as strong as they started, but they finished strong enough to avert disaster, which it looked like they were heading toward during their prolonged slump. So they kind of righted the ship. They also have some injuries and are shorthanded in some ways. And a lot of those are pictures, but also DJ lemieux doesn't seem like he's his full healthy self as brand cashman even acknowledged and he maybe even in a bench roll or a part time role and they are getting Carpenter back. Yes. Of course he hasn't played in particularly games since so long that it's hard to know exactly what you're getting, but he was amazing when he was healthy and playing for them. So that could be a bit of a boost, but it's still kind of a top heavy team, definitely a top heavy lineup, which I guess is inevitable when the top is there and judge, but also just below our judge, there's not as much. It's not a, it's not a slight fall off. Well, yeah, there's not as much below him because he is so tall. Exactly. Last down below. Yes. They still hit a lot of homers as a team. Just judge, but really like anyone you could slot in behind judge. I guess Rizzo would maybe be the best, better at this point. It's a big, steep drop off.

"But I thought that the fan graphs previews that I read did their best with an impossible task. It's like an umpire behind home plate. You know that they can't call all the pictures correctly. They're just not good enough the human eye can not actually see the pitches across the plate at the exact moment that they do with enough clarity to catch everything perfectly. And of course, the human prognosticator can not prognosticate correctly about a three game series, but you can at least make people familiar with the players. Some of the storylines and that can be fun and it's a way that you can waste half an hour at work if you're at the office. Yeah, I think that like, you know, it's sort of like the Taylor Tomlinson joke about Father's Day cards. It's like, this is a game. These are some baseball players here as a series. You know, you're just like, this is the guys who are gonna be there. And some of them will do well. And others of them will do poorly. Some untold number across all of them will, you know, like, how do we want to say be boring? But we don't want to predict that because we're hoping everyone's really jazzed and excited. So there you go. Yeah, what I've gleaned from reading a lot of these previews is that you have a best of three series here. All you have to do is win two games and almost every team has two good starters. At least where you feel pretty good about the top couple of guys. And they're sub teams where depth is their strength, of course. Point to say the Mariners again and say, oh, they have four pretty good starting pitchers, and they can't use them all at least not as starters in this series. So that's leaving a little advantage on the table, potentially. But there are a lot of teams where you look at the top two or top three, and you say, well, I don't want to face them. You could be on your ass out of the playoffs or you know what happened to you. And you just played for 6 months to get there and then you ran into Shane Bieber and Tristan Mackenzie or Alec manoa and Kevin gossman or on and on every team almost every team has a couple of guys, whether it's Aaron nola and Zach Wheeler. It's like, oh, this could be over really quickly. It's all they have to do is win those two games again. Groundbreaking analysis that I'm providing here. You gotta win two out of three. What? Yeah, see, it's a three game series. The team that wins two will advance. What? Yeah, so you gotta win two people. But not just one, you have to win two. They don't have to be consecutive. Oh, so you don't have to win the first one. And then lose the second. You might play three, even though you only have to win two. Exactly. Yeah, you might have to it's complicated. No, it is. This is the level of analysis you can expect out of this one. Can we do the bit before people turn off the pod? It's tough it's a tough month because it's a FUD month. It's an exciting month, but it's also the month when not that we're offering analysis of a high level on every episode that is prescient and predicting the future. Sometimes we're just talking about nonsense. A lot of the times, actually. My teeth, you know? For 20 minutes it bothered at least one person. It wasn't that long, was it? I don't go back and listen to the podcast. Are you kidding? I only have so many hours in the day. Yeah, most of them are spent recording the podcast. Right, exactly. If I, if I were to listen back to all of our pods after having recorded them, I am doubling my podcast time and arguably, I spend exactly as much if not too much time on the pod already. I will say, though, that I really like this playoff field and I made this point the other day and I mentioned some of the high points of the players and the teams who were in this postseason. I was reading at the ESPN+ site, David schoenfeld had sort of the same kind of piece where I was feeling very optimistic and positive too, where he said that this playoff field is maybe the greatest in an MLB postseason ever. And what I was getting at is that you just got so many teams in there that you can find good stories and fun players and that's the upside of this new playoff format. David is higher on this playoff format than I am, but I think we agree that because there's all this variety. It's like, oh yeah, I could root for them. If they advanced, that would be fun. Yeah. It's just more of a sampler, a bigger platter of appetizers here, where I say, oh, this is a nice little amuse bouche and now I want to see the rest of this team continue to play in the playoffs. And unfortunately, we will have to bid farewell to some of them quite quickly. But as he noted, you have the powerhouses, so you have the New York teams, right? If you're a New Yorker and you care about that kind of thing, most of the rest of the country probably does not, but you have some potential for a subway series and there's the rivalry there and both of those teams are pretty good. And you have the teams that everyone loves to hate. You have the Yankees, you have the Dodgers, and even though the Dodgers are a super team, as we have discussed, and they won a 111 games, and they had the highest run differential since the 1930s. They still feel vulnerable as we have noted because of some injuries and short handedness and just it feels like they could be beaten, which you could say about every team in every postseason, but more so than you would think with a 111 when team. So no one feels invincible even by baseball standards. And yet you have some really good teams. You have some good story ones. You have the Dodgers Astros, rivalry such as it is. You have Atlanta potentially repeating and really just pouring it on and overtaking the mets. And then you also have Aaron judge, a notable player of this regular season. He's still in the playoffs and who knows what he will do and how many home runs he will hit and add to the story of the season. And then you have the Cardinals. And look, a lot of 9 Cardinals fans, they're sick of seeing the Cardinals in the playoffs every October. You got to hand it to them. You got to tip your cap, but a lot of people would prefer to tip the Cardinals out of the playoffs entirely except that this year, how can you root against the Cardinals? I made very easily, I'm sure, but approvals. Yeah, you're moving. Adam Wainwright potentially too. These guys going out together, one last ride, Pujols, not just a sentimental story, but actually good and important to this playoff team. Yeah. Just a lot of good storylines. And as I noted, of course, you have the Mariners, and you have the Phillies teams that have not been in it for a long time. And you have teams that have not won it ever with the rays and the Mariners, and the Padres, and the guardians for an extremely long time. So just a lot, that I'm kind of looking forward to, and that's not analysis of who's going to win this series and what's the strength and what's the weakness, but I think it does just speak to paper in for a pretty fun right here.

"We talked about it last year when it came to the Giants. We talked about it when it came to the Cardinals, right? Right. Or the braves for that matter, right? Where we had, you know, projections that I think are sort of philosophically sound. Like the methodology behind them is sound. And then things change, right? Guys take a big step forward, the rest of your division gets hurt. You know, you go on a 17 game win streak and it alters the way that the projections are going to interact with your team. And that, you know, sometimes when preseason projections are low relative to how a team ends up performing, it means that we do need to evaluate the model and see, you know, did we miss anything here? Are we not thinking about something the right way? And so I think it's always a valuable exercise because we should ask that question every year. We want to have the models be as good as they can be, understanding that there are going to be things that we just can't, you know, we're never going to be able to quite get the injury stuff right, you know, because guys, sometimes we know that they might be more likely to get hurt because they've been hurt before but sometimes they get hurt for the first time, right? Or we can't think about how many of, you know, we're not as good at figuring out how they're all going to be heard at the same time, like the White Sox. And it's hard for us to factor player dev organization like Cleveland. How do you put that into the projection, right? How do you say, well, we know that they're good at this. So how do you translate that into altering an individual player's projection? That seems like really tricky business. So there are always going to be kind of blind spots in it, but just as often, it's because something unexpected happened. And sometimes for your favorite team, that unexpected thing sucks, right? Like, sometimes all of your guys get hurt at once. And that's a real bummer, but sometimes it's because you have Steven klon and Andres mennis and Tristan Mackenzie and you have a bunch of guys kind of take a leap forward and really raise the ceiling on your team. And I understand I said this on Twitter yesterday, like I totally get individual players certainly and maybe teams generally embracing a nobody believed in us narrative, right? And wanting bulletin board material, although I wish that they would do it in a way that helped their fans think about probabilistic thinking better because I still think that's a worthwhile battle for us as a society. But for the rest of us, no one at fan grass disrespects Cleveland. We have issues with their ownership group, but like we all think José Ramírez is cool. We just looked at that roster going into the season and we're like, well, I don't think Luke melee on his own is enough. So relative to the rest of the division, they're not as good. That isn't meant to denigrate them. It's mostly about thinking like the White Sox are really good and maybe the twins have sufficiently addressed their pitching and they have Carlos Correa and maybe Byron books and it'll stay healthy the whole year, right? I wish that we framed the surprise team quote unquote in terms of the sort of individual players and circumstances that got them to that surprise because it tells you so much more about that team to frame it that way than to sort of embrace like a facile. Can't get no respect, it's like you're not Harvey dangerfield. It's fine. Your ownership group just doesn't spend money. Those aren't the same thing. So, you know, I think it's super cool that the rest of the country who maybe doesn't watch AO central baseball is going to get to know Stephen Quan. That's awesome. As previously stated, this is pro Stephen Quan podcast. You know, but that doesn't mean that the projection didn't make sense at the time it was made. And that's why it's good to see how these things trend over time. It's not like they had 7.5% postseason odds last week, you know, the projections adapt to changing information. And by the time they had cleared those series against the twins in the White Sox, we thought they were going to win the division and the playoffs reflected that. Right. Yeah, and I've seen various ways that that sentiment has been expressed like the MLB Twitter account tweeted the preseason playoff ads and then said, that's why they play the games, which true. That's fine. We all want that to be the case where we want them to play the games. And we also want some surprises to come upset sometimes. Totally. Quite boring is to play off that we're always perfectly correct. And you're always going to get some team that beats the projections, the fries, the projections, and some way that's just inevitable. There's a certain amount of luck that just can't be projected and then there are other things that can't be projected or might be missed in a single season. And that's fine. That's okay. I don't personally have any reason to be defensive about this. I didn't produce the fan graphs projections and I guess I did predict that some other team would win this division, but I never pretend that my projections are predictions mean anything particularly. So I think I understand the sentiment and the desire to say, well, we showed them. I mean, if I were a fan of that team, I'd be thinking that too, probably. So the guardians social media people putting together a Montage of everyone who projected someone else to win the division. I don't know. I mean, maybe it's not the most gracious act like you've been there before way to celebrate or go for it. They have been there before. Yeah. But I get it. I'm sure it plays very well to the fan base who probably were not pleased that the guardians were not projected to win the division, and then when the guardians turned out to win the division, they probably said, yeah, see that? We win. Right. You were wrong. Yes, there is probability and doesn't mean if a 7.5% thing happens, well, it should happen 7.5% of the time, right? And generally the playoff ads have checked out and have been validated and there is some substance and a decent track record to them.

Yeah, I would agree with you there, but I'll tell you what speaking of the braves, this can be fun to watch them the two young kids Harrison Grissom for them. Like them a lot. Meanwhile, you told us two weeks ago you thought the gardens are going to win the central. They sit two and a half games ahead of both the twins and the white socks right now. And another big day for them, a double header with the tigers this time in Cleveland and all. Yeah, I thought the weekend series where they get lost the first two games against Verlander and fram ravel does and then turn it around on Saturday and Sunday winning tight games against Houston really kind of signified a change and then Tristan Mackenzie's pitched outstanding, even though he lost the game on Saturday two to one. I thought he was very good in that game through over a hundred pitches, kept him in the game. Absolute. Two runs in the 6th inning. Actually, pitch very well. It's two solo home runs, right? I think so, yeah. And you look at this team, beaver back on track. I'm barrios again. Toronto, they're just inconsistent offensive with their have an issues. Yesterday they had bases on runners on base, they just couldn't take advantage of it. They're playing well in Minnesota. How about the blown game Saturday night? Brutal. I mean, they were up three zero I think it was for three one. Shohei. Nothing going to the bottom of the 9th. Bottom of the 8th, ohtani hit a hole in the 8th, sorry. And then three one in the bottom and then two outs in the bottom of the 9. Two strikes. And they hit the triple that almost was an inside park home run that won the game. I don't believe it inside the park homers. I always believe it's a triple with an error. Yeah. All right, let's look at the first game. First pitch goes in less than an hour from Cleveland. Hutchinson for the tigers against savali for the guardians. This game is all Cleveland here. Guardians favored by two 15 to two 20 depending on where you're looking here with a total of 7 and a half. Yeah, I laid the run line here, took the guardians minus a one and a half plus even money simply because I think when you look at this tigers team losers of 7 in a row, Mike, but it's not just the losses. It's a simple fact that this team can't score over the weekend. They manage 6 runs in three games. You go previous to that in their previous four games, this team also managed only 7 runs 14 runs across 7 games. They're struggling guardians playing well. Not necessarily elite offensively, but consistent enough, this is I think a four game series. I would be shocked if the guardians didn't win three of you. Yeah, if not all four. All right, now you've subscribed to the theory. Let's talk about the second game now too. And these are back to back games. So 1210 Pacific and three 40 Pacific. Brian Garcia for the tigers in the second game, and a man making his major league debut Xavier curry for the guardian's guardian still in the second game close to a $2 favorite. This total 8 and a half. I know you subscribe to the theory of the zigzag and the double header that there's rarely a sweep. Does this mean since you played the run line in the first game that you'll lay off the second game? No, not necessarily because remember Garcia is probably not going to go that long in the game. Maybe three innings if things go well, he could get to a fourth inning. We'll see how curry performs in this game. I will say this though, if the guardians were to lose the first game outright, forget if they were going to pound them in the second game. No, I won't because I got to see what curry is, but you know, I think the guardians would be a good play if you want to come back with a team and take a shot at them. I mean, I think there's some other plays out there, but to me that would be one I'd consider. Philly's leave New York and they pitched well, but they didn't pitch good enough. They win the first game, but Louis the second to in a very well pitched series, really on both sides. Noah syndergaard who last started in losing to the Marlins last week gets to start tonight for the Phillies against Mike minor Phillies, a dollar 80 road favorite with a total of 9 in small park Emma. Yeah, playing well and I think they win the game. I'll tell you what, I like the cubs a lot yesterday they were on a 5 game. I'm sorry, the reds that were on a 5 game losing streak reverse run line paid plus two 40. They were behind and come back in that one. Mike, to me, I would look at the Phillies here. I think when you look at this reds team, I know they got the win yesterday, but overall big concerns with them moving forward. Here's a great pitch he'd match up in South Florida tonight also goes at three 40 Pacific. Joe musgrove for the Padres against big sandy Alcantara for the Marlins Musgrave are you surprised a little bit by this line close to a dollar 40 in some spots here with a total justifiably so 6 and a half. You can find plus a dollar 25 on sandy Alcantara. I'll tell you what I'd be looking at the first 5 under in this one. It's a flat three. Well, Marlins can't score. I mean, this is a team that has gone the entire month of August, the longest streak since the 79 cubs not to be able to exceed three runs. This team had a one nothing lead, blow it last yesterday in the 9th inning braves come back and win that game intent. Or excuse me, might have been in 9, I think they might have scored those three runs, but regardless, I would look at the under here. Marlins are not going to score against musgrove and I think big sandy will pitch well. I can't back him because this team is not scoring for him. So you'd rather play the first 5 under three. Yes. Looking at a push potentially with that number. I don't think the Marlins are going to scratch on musgrove. I would look at big sandy plus one O 5 in the first 5. What gives you any confidence in Marlin is going to score a run? Well, I'm not that confident they're going to score a run, but I think he'll shut out the Padres the first 5. But wouldn't you argue that there's a greater opportunity for the Padres to score off of Alcantara than there is for the Marlins to score off a muskrat? No, not necessarily. Okay, that's fair. I don't see a price on the three though, so that would depend on me. I'm not going three and a minus price. No, no, no, it's got to be worse. If it's plus plus a dollar plus one O 5, I'd look at it. I'm not laying one 20. No, if it's one ten, I would take a 9. I don't think it's going to be worse than that. Let's go to medicine braves, Amal. Metz dominated this series in New York. That's what gave them their cushion here, which they currently have 5 and a half games over the braves heading in here the top two teams in the east. Carlos Carrasco against your guy, stridor tonight, from hotlanta, stridor, a dollar 50 favorite dollar 55 in some spots with a total of 8 of them all. Ah, important game braves come in having won 6 in a row. Mets have won 8 of their last ten playing well. And by the way, there is no question who the best pitcher in the world is. It is Jacob de Grom. By the way, on Saturday, that was his 200th career start, 98 starts in his career has given up one run or less. How not even half? Don't be a hater all your life. This guy's so good. I'll tell you what, important series for the braves four games here and then you got three in the back end of the season against the mets. If you're going to make a push, I believe they have to take three out of four of the realities. I almost think they have to get the sweep. Our friend Rex buyers had a good tweet Saturday night. He said, he played nola and the under. But he knows that this was in the third inning. He says, I already know my ticket's dead. The final this game is met's ex Philly zero. That's a good line. Yeah. I mean, nola pitched well too. No pitch well, but it's hard when it's hard to say you have to be perfect. When you got this decades pager on the mount. Would you be interested in this game at all? I think it's a little heavy on the braves. I do too. I would look at the mets here at just as simply at the plus price. The offense is starting to go Lindor is coming around Marte's cause and some problems. Back into the lineup

"I guess mustard uses he his pronouns according to this MLP dot com story. According to baseball references, method, they actually have the youngest average batting age, 26, and the pirates are second at 26.6. Sure. And they also have the youngest pitching age. In the same season. So youngest batting team and youngest pitching team and really, if you look at the teams that are close to them, so their average pitching age this year 26.5, the next closest is the royals at 27.4. And not only are they outliers in terms of age, but also in terms of success because if you look at the other young teams, you've got the guardians, the youngest batting age, but then you have the pirates and then the Diamondbacks. And then you get to the Blue Jays and the twins and some more successful teams on the pitching side, the second youngest team is the royals. The tigers, the angels, the reds, the morrowinds, the pirates, then you get to the Orioles and the Mariners. So being young, not always a good thing. Right. So I asked Ryan Nelson about this too and I wanted to know just like how many teams have been both the youngest batting team and youngest pitching team in the same season and how has that gone for them in general? And it's not gone well. The guardians are sort of an exception here, though not the lone exception. So in general, you think of youth as being a positive for baseball team, right? Like a youth movement. Okay, you're bringing up good young players. And I guess that's true in a sense, but not true in that initial season when you were super young. It is not a good thing to be extremely young because that probably means that maybe you just embarked on a rebuild or, you know, you just traded away all your veterans or you have just promoted a bunch of prospects and they're not peaking yet, you know, things are not going great. You're not competitive in most cases. So Ryan used a method where he just waited by playing time either played appearances or batters faced. And so if you do it that way and you look at the youngest hitting team in each season going back to 1916. So the cumulative winning percentage by the youngest hitting team in each year is four 60. And the cumulative winning percentage for the youngest pitching team in each season is also for 60 as it turns out. So not great in general if you look at the oldest teams. Now, again, like that seems like, oh boy, advanced age, right? You know, everyone's going to be injured and decrepit, but not really, in general, it is a good thing, at least in that year to be very old. So cumulative winning percentage of the oldest hitting teams, 5 19, and cumulative winning percentage of the oldest pitching teams, 5 33. So it's a good thing to be very old at least for that year. Now I'm sure the fortunes diverge in the following years. So maybe the very youngest teams had a better next few years than the very oldest teams did, but at least for that year, you'd rather be old and have a bunch of established veterans than to be going with all rookies and scrubs and unestablished players. And that you can kind of see if you look at the very youngest team on record by this method, it's the 1967 Kansas City a's who were not good. They had a 62 and 99 record, not so good, whereas the oldest team ever by a lot is the 2005 Yankees who were 95 and 67 and won their division. So the question though about being both the youngest hitting team and youngest pitching team in the same season. So this generally does not bode well. So the guardians really are an exception here. So that has happened 18 times prior to this season so the guardians are the 19th and those teams combined have gone 1180 and 1591, so that is a four 26 winning percentage for the youngest hitting team that was also the youngest pitching team. So the notable exception here would be the 1970 reds who won the World Series and went one O two and 60 and they were the youngest hitting team in youngest pitching team that year and that was I guess the beginning of the big red machine. So that was a good sign for them. Yeah. The only other team at that level, the great vaunted 1994 expos, one of the great what if teams they were 74 and 40, that's a 6 49 winning percentage when that season was cut short. Sadly. So they were an exciting one. There just aren't a lot of other examples. I guess the 1948 Dodgers had a 5 45 winning percentage, but that is it. Well, I 68 a's were 5 O 6 winning percentage. And the 88 pirates were 5 31. So really it's just, I guess, 5 of those 18 teams that have managed even to have winning records. So what the guardians are doing this year is quite rare to be so young and also successful in it's also impressive that they have one of the best farm systems too in addition to one of the youngest big league grassers. So they've done a nice job that front office has of developing players and making do with a very low payroll and they've managed to remain competitive and maybe that only adds to the frustration of some Cleveland fans that they did so little at the deadline when they have all these prospects and all these young players and it's like can we go get a veteran or two? Maybe to round out this raster, but they did not. However, they have managed to be pretty good. And they're defying history here. Dave Steven. Yeah, they have Steven Kwan. And Tristan Mackenzie. So I don't know if they have a big red machine future ahead of them, but it's encouraging to be both good and young and very rare too. Yeah.

"So it's like sure, 'cause what they really need is for max Muncie to recover his form. It's like, oh, his elbows all better actually for real now, maybe he's a good max Muncie again, because, you know, they just didn't have enough hitters. They were like, we don't have enough of those. We just need him to be himself again. Joey Gallo, 120 WRC plus is a Thatcher. It's because he gets to live by the beach now, but he doesn't feel confined in his New York environs. But people had so fussy when people talk about leaving New York and I'm here to tell you, you know, some of the takes are bad and some of them are fine and if you just didn't react to any of them, they maybe would stop. Chill. It's fine. No one has been happier to leave New York than Joey Gallo. So, you know, if this very small sample resurgence continues, I don't know that we even need to credit great Dodgers, hitter development. Certainly is a skill that they possess, but also Joey Gallo was really good for a long time. This is who you would expect Joey Gallo to be. And we talked like when the Ben intended trade happened, it's like, you know, I noted that Gallo had better projections than intending to know. If he had remained in New York, would he have played to those projections? Well, based on his mindset, in the quotes that we went over, I doubt it. Whether he can just immediately leave that behind him and go back to who he was in Los Angeles, I don't know, but nice way to start for him. So I'm happy for him that he is hopefully in a better place. Psychologically speaking. I just look forward to the plucky Seattle Mariners making their first World Series against this dominant Dodgers human getting absolutely slaughtered. Yep. It's not funny, but it would be, it would be a story we'd have some stories. Yeah, and just to close the loop on that playoff hud segment, the teams other than the Red Sox and giants that lost a lot over the past month and a little bit, the brewers down about 22 percentage points, the raised 17, the twin 17 and a couple other teams with single digit losses the angels the marwan's and the White Sox, who have hemorrhaged playoff probability all year. The White Sox, you know, there have been a few notable entries this week, greater of late, not just the chrysale one. Also Matt Carpenter, the best hitter in baseball, Matt Carpenter. He fractured a ball off his foot and he's going to be out for a while. Also, the White Sox will be without Tim Anderson for some time, potentially the rest of the season. Hopefully not, but that is on the table. And that's a big blow to them, and they just continued to underperform and hang in there. They're close enough that, you know, I think they were most people's preseason picks and we were all thinking, oh, the twins just don't have the pitching to hang in that race and lately. They haven't looked like they have the pitching, the pitching is broken down a bit, even though they reinforced it at the deadline, and so it's not like the white flags are out of this thing, but they just can not get anything going really. They're just a game over 500 still and their playoff odds were down about 5 percentage points since July 7th. So they're now at about 40% to make the playoffs and maybe a one in four shot to win that division according to the odds here. So really, one of the most underperforming disappointing teams relative to pre season projections and expectations. Yeah, it's just, in some respects, it is a testament to the talent that they do have on that roster that they have kind of remained in it, even if more on the periphery than we were anticipating coming into the season, but it just has not it has not gone great in ways that have often been outside their control and then the stuff that has been inside their control, they've seemed like their content to just be like, well, this is our team. This is, here we go. Here's our team, and you know, I think that the twins and two illustrations, the guardians have been like, hey, thanks, you know? Right. Minnesota was actually busy at the deadline Cleveland was not, but now, you know, Steven Kwan hit a home run, so who cares, you know? Yeah, I'm happy with how Juan has performed since that first weekend, just going totally wild and everyone getting super excited about Stephen Quan like obviously he has not hit nearly as well since then, but he's been okay, you know? He's been fine. Okay, no one really believed that he was going to be a superstar just because of that tiny whittle hot streak that he had at the beginning of the season, but he has continued to perform the way we thought he would in the sense that he doesn't strike out and just does that miss the ball and has that extremely level swing and contact oriented approach and he has a one 21 WRC plus on the season with more walks than strikeouts more than 400 plate appearances and I suppose actually one 25 after the home run today as we're recording. So, you know, I mean, if you subtracted his flurry of hits from those first few games, I guess it wouldn't look quite as impressive, but like he's been good, you know? You subtracted his putrid may you could say the same thing, right? Right, if we take out anyone's hottest streak and colder streak. But on the whole, not a small sample at all. He has been a very productive player who has been worth, you know, two and a half wins according to fangraphs word. Again, this was a guy who was not ranked on top press spec except for fan crafts race, so I would say that that's a win, you know, not a superstar, but productive player. He's held his own. Yeah, you know, it's such a funny thing. I think that getting on the one hand, like you want credit, but you don't want to be, you know, getting overly fussed about this stuff can lead you to madness, right? Because on the one hand, you're right. We were the only outlet that had him ranked on the top 100. We had him ranked as the 50. It wasn't like he was like a 70 for us, you know? He was a 50. We were like, this guy's belongs in the top 100. He's going to be a productive big leaguer. He has been that. It's good. It's fine. It's just such a funny, it's such a funny thing because I think that there is a satisfaction and a validation of process to be like, yeah, like we got this guy right, but there are other guys we didn't. So I don't know, it's just like it's hard to be, you don't want to be overly sassy because I don't think that that's especially productive, but you also want to say, hey yeah, we got that one, right? From so if we look at his, I think, you know what, I think this is like a good indication of who quant can be. So his early part of the season. How did that? His may, putrid. If we go from June 1st to yesterday, he's got a one 30 WRC plus three 29 three 85 four ten hitter. That seems right, you know? That's like, welcome to Stephen Quan. It's fine. Yeah. And speaking of other guardians who have been doing well, Tristan Mackenzie is someone I've liked for a while and have been pulling for it because he was my breakout pick this year.

The Houston Astros have won 6 in a row after Jeremy Pena's 9th inning walk off two run Homer sent them to a four two win over the Los Angeles angels. It was paying his fourth hit of the game and second home run. Oh, that's my first multi home run game. And send that on a walk off, it's unreal. In that game, Astros pitchers tied a 9 inning major league record by striking out 20 angels. The guardians humbled the Yankees to nothing. Tristan Mackenzie dazzled allowing just one hit over 7 innings enough to impress Cleveland DH franmil Reyes. I love the way bitch is attitude. He's very focused in every woman and today was a great performance. Tyler wells was superb over 6 innings as Baltimore won at Minnesota three one. It took me a little while to kind of get back into that groove and that mentality, but over the course of the last two months like I've really kind of started to get back into it and I'm feeling pretty good about it. "10. W T V N Sports. All right. Matt McCoy Ryan Day yesterday in his press conference, saying, quote we're going to look at everything but, boy, he hammered the defense Clay hall from ABC six. We've got some audio from yesterday. Interesting question to you that now you've got to address that. Yeah. The army. I'm not happy about that at all. I mean, you know, that's that's part of the deal is that you know here for me to do what? I ain't doing offense I need Um you know the defense really on point with the special teams on point. I need Mark Antonia do a great job and recruiting. Mcx morality to handle strength, conditioning. And the minute that I get taken away from those type of things, Then it affects everything else that's going on offense. And so, yeah, I mean, to be honest with you that you know, I'm disappointed. That's coach Day yesterday, talking about the defense some would say in battled defensive coordinator carry Combs. He sounded here's but you're a head coach. You're over everything so I'm not Quite sure why you're irritated by that. No disrespect to coach today, but you are the head coach. Well, I get it his but his role his major roles, as was Urban Meyer's. They were offensive guys, and so they're involved in the offense and when they have to get taken away from that. You know, like coach Meyer used to say I stay out of the defense unless I feel like I have to. And I guess for Ryan Day he stays out of the defense, and this week he felt like he had to. So I guess that's what he's referring to. I don't know that you need to be that. You know, As you said, you're the head coach. I mean, that's part of the job. I mean, it is. It is unfortunate. I get it. He's he's irritated. Um So look, it. I'm thinking there's friction. There's got to be friction. Now. I mean times as well accomplished and what he's done and things happen. I think for sure, and you know it's obvious that there are defensive issues. I mean, it's As a coach day put it yesterday. There's a pattern I mentioned you earlier this week. The status AW in sports Illustrated. Ohio State dating back to the Alabama game, has given up 118 points in the last three games. And the only time that's ever happened in Ohio. See, History was the first year they played football in Ohio State. I mean, that's how like so it's, uh, it is a problem. Um, but, you know Uh huh. Football is a team game there. There are a lot of, uh, this was not just a defensive loss. Was it primarily a defensive loss? Absolutely. I mean without question. Having said that I know they put up 602 yards of offense. But when you put up 602 yards of offense, you should score more than 28 points. Yeah, opportunities offensively and as bad as the defense was. Twice in the fourth quarter. They got the ball back to the offense with a chance to go down the field with plenty of time and tie the game and they didn't do it. So Um Ryan is right. He has every right to be irritated. It is a pattern and he's got to get it fixed. But there are things on the other side of the ball. In my opinion that need to get fixed to they could not convert on fourth down. They can't run the football all of a sudden. Uh, you're not going to win when you're asking your freshman quarterback to throw the wall 54 times, and he knows all that to, uh, Ryan Day does. I'm not saying anything that he doesn't know. It's just It felt like yesterday was all about our defense, right? He did not say this. He did not say this. I'm paraphrasing. But the gist of the press conference was our defense sucks. You know, uh and You know to me, It's a team game that I don't listen. He's a great coach. He's a great young coach. Um, but I think as The team listens to that If I'm on the defense, I feel like my coach has lost confidence in me. That's just me talking. I you know other people may feel differently may feel like he's challenging them or whatever. But I didn't hear enough of we will get it fixed. I there was some of it. "Of the year. And before i get into the top seven guys who have the best odds and ultimately where i think some money can be one. I did wanna bring up. Who has been hot recently. Which rookies have had the the best couple of weeks here which rookies can still affect the pennant race. The division racist down the stretch even though they may not be up for the rookie of the year award. So starting out with bobby dall back. The first basement of the red sox. He had the worst month of his big league career in july. But he's been on fire so far in august hitting three eighty seven. Three home runs the past couple of weeks. He's got eleven. Rbi's in three games last week to run home or to run to homerun contest so two home runs in one game trying to spit that one out here against the orioles so yeah as only thirty one on the year but for the month of august. This guy's been locked in in plain much better baseball here recently. Y'all have louis skill. Rhianna pitcher for the yankees. Now he's been on the bus back and forth from triple a scranton wilkes barre in new york. So he's got those frequent flyer. Miles there on the greyhound bus. But he's helped the yankee surge up. The wildcard standings see is not allowed to run in his first three. Big league starts. He worked out of trouble in four and two thirds against the red sox tuesday nine days after throwing five scoreless against the mariners so in three starts here eighteen strikeouts versus just nine hits in fifteen and two thirds innings. So again doesn't have the ending certainly not going to win the award. But louise skill has been electric for the yankee. Send helping them get back into wild card. Contention you also have trysted mackenzie for the indians who we talked about. I mean the guy carried a perfect game into the eighth inning and ultimately had a fantastic outing now. The entire year hasn't gone great for him as east two and five with a five one. Two we are but eight scoreless. Sittings one hit innings. And he's been good here recently so he's starting to figure things out there and cleveland and has been very good down the stretch. Y'all have tariq's. Google a left handed pitcher for the tigers. He was one of four tigers on the preseason top one hundred prospects list it was him or no not just tigers but It was Excuse me everybody tristan. Mackenzie indians daubach. Red sox stevenson skew. Ball was the highest ranked among them and number twenty four. He recorded the first back-to-back victories of his big league career. He blanked the red sox for five innings. And then the orioles for six in his last outing so he's been solid this year as a rookie. Eight and ten with a four day but very good his last two times out here on the american league side of things. Now who's going to effect some of these pennant races coming down the stretch here. That isn't up for the award but again still going to be heavily involved. Shane mcclanahan for the tampa bay race. I mean if i asked you which current raise pitcher has the most starts for the al leaders. I don't think you'd say mcclanahan. And that's exactly who the answer is so he had thrown well in twenty twenty. He's been a war course for the race this entire year. They traded richhill. They lost tyler glass now. So they're going to need mcclanahan to continue to give him some innings down the stretch so far so good for the kit. He striking out more than ten batters per nine innings. He's got a three seven three era and he's gone at least five innings in his last five starts so mcclanahan big time guy for the race. Here and certainly. They're going to need him if they want to. Hold off the yankees who are surging as well as a move when it comes to once they get into the postseason another tampa bay ray wander franko. I mean consensus number one prospect. In baseball he started the year too late in a little bit. Slow to to get into the rookie of the year conversation. But over the past month he sit in two seventy two four six homers come over that span striking out less than fifteen percent of the time so the kid hitting almost two seventy five not striking out putting the ball in play playing really good shortstop he's going to be another big component when it comes to the race down the stretch here if they'll be able to win the american league east and then finally alex manoa toronto blue jays pitcher. They're chasing everybody in the american league east looking up at new york boston tampa but he's been giving him a huge boost. I mean six foot six big right handed kid. He's got a cutter a two seamer. So he's got a fastball. That runs in both directions. It's been difficult for big league hitters to be able to square him up. He's also got to an absolutely filthy slider that if you guys follow pitching in john twitter you've been following along and seeing how that tunnels off his fastball. And now that's been giving hitters a ton of problems when it comes to being able to square that up but he has a two five nine. Era in eleven starts so if he had been up a little bit earlier he would absolutely be in the conversation for rookie of the year. but unfortunately Just the number of starts. I don't think we'll get him into the conversation. So now. who are the top seven when it comes to american league rookie of the year odds here currently where could we win some cash. We'll start out with number seven. You got ryan mount castle. He's at plus two thousand. I mean mcclanahan. I mentioned plus four thousand. So he's really on the outside mount castle at plus two thousand and mount castle this year hitting two sixty five. Twenty home runs for the orioles. Sixty four rb is ninety. Nine total hits four stolen bases so He's been very good he. He did play a little bit in twenty twenty not to the point where he lost his rookie eligibility. Which you'll hear once again as we get later on here into this conversation but hit three thirty three in twenty twenty with five home run. So he's continued to play good baseball and his entire big league career. And i think the orioles should be excited about this kid's future. I think he really could be a player for them. Moving forward so he's having a good not great rookie year sophomore year. Whatever you wanna call it rookie eligibility in his sophomore year redshirt freshman so to speak. But plus two thousand. I just think he's a bit too far on the outside to really ultimately get back into the conversation next on the list. You have eric hoss. Say the catcher for the tigers. Plus eleven hundred. He's not the only tiger on the list but he sit in two thirty eight for the tigers. Nineteen home runs forty. Nine rb is with sixty hits so far on the year and he's got rookie eligibility even though he's had a cup of coffee each of the last three years and this is really the first year where he's been relatively solid offensively. now the catcher's position comes with a bit of a caveat because pitch calling all of that weighs a bit more into their their effect on the game or how they affect the outcome more so than the offense but hitting a buck twenty-five to for sixteen and twenty one for sixteen and twenty one thousand nine hundred ninety three i seventeen and twenty twenty and now finally hitting two thirty eight with nineteen home runs that offense those power numbers from a catcher. Certainly get them into consideration next on the list. Let's see here the fifth ranked guy currently or sixth-ranked guy. Let's see a kill badu outfielder for the tigers as well so a kill to sixty seven with ten home runs and forty five rb is now. He's an outfielder. he's a bit more of a speed guy. He's got fourteen stolen bases on the year..

Whatever it is you're into the podcast network has shows for you guys on demand to help get you through your day out there and listen to some quality contents we certainly appreciate it here in segment number three. We've reached our news and notes portion of today's program. We got a lot to talk about starting off with the field of dreams game we previewed it on thursday's episode but man what a success this was for major league baseball. The yankees white sox played one of the best regular season games that we've seen in a long time and it couldn't have couldn't have written a better script if you were major league. Baseball to two run home runs in the top of the ninth inning for the yankees ultimately turn a seven to four deficit into an eight to seven lead only to be followed off by a walk off home. Run in the bottom half of the ninth inning for a white sox nine two eight victory and oh my gosh just again. Ultimate success for major league baseball. It was actually the most watched regular season major league in the last sixteen years. The ratings came back five point nine million viewers across fox in fox deport days. It was also the most streamed regular season baseball game and fox. Sports is history the top two markets where chicago and new york obviously the cities where the two teams are from next on the list. Saint louis had hartford and kansas city also rounding out the top five markets to watch but it started out fantastic. Kevin costner in the two teams emerged from the corn stocks in the outfield before the lineups were announced. The score was kept on a board that was built with wooden planks. Were they hand updated. The scores and things like that so just a true true success. Beautiful venue the crowd was electric yankees fans. White sox fans. I mean goodness gracious i. It was just fantastic. So commissioner rob manfred confirmed that the league will return to play another game here next year. Rumors were that the cubs are going to be involved next year but ultimately this is one of the best things. Baseball has done across the board in a long long time and it was just fun to watch. Eight home runs hitting the game. All of them into the cornfield. I mean the wind was blowing out. It was a warm night so it was very entertaining and again a off home. Run fireworks going on. It just couldn't have gone any better for major league baseball in the field of dreams gangs next. You had the cleveland indians here on sunday. Tristan mackenzie nearly through major league. Baseball's first perfect game in exactly nine years. Mckenzie retired the first twenty three detroit tigers that he faced on sunday and came within four outs of the twenty fourth. Perfect game in baseball history. Of course ed. Mckenzie been able to complete the bid it would have been the first perfect game since mariners felix hernandez did it exactly. Nine years ago. Sunday on august fifteenth. Twenty twelve. so just fascinating that it's been nine years where we haven't had a perfect game and especially in a year where we've had eight no hitters. None of the no hitters have been a perfect game so pitchers just walking guys during these no hitters. Just stop doing that. And you'll have yourself a perfect game here. But mackenzie lost the bid with two outs in the eighth inning when herald castro line two to one fastball into right field. Of course mckenzie regrouped struck out willie castro to eighth-inning and then emmanuel chase pitched a perfect now to secure eleven nothing victory for the cleveland indians. But my goodness gracious nine years since we had a perfect l. and major league baseball and almost happened on the exact same day. So we're going to get a perfect game this year. I don't know odds are against it. Of course just based on the history that we've seen across baseball. We also had chris sale. Make his first start in two years. He went five innings allowing two rights after long journey. Back from tommy. John surgery his start on. Saturday came two years in one day since his previous start in two thousand and nineteen so Sale man he. He said quote. This was the end of the road. Basically i said today when i got on the field i'm done driving on the dirt. Road the rubbers the asphalt today. It was just a long return again. He tried to come back from the injury on his own before ultimately having a setback. And then tommy john surgery and twenty twenty But now he was able to come back and he looked comfortable right. I mean he looked good. That slider was working. There was a time where he retired. Seven out of nine orioles striking out four of them and the red sox they were winning the game very handily. So they didn't have to push chris. Sale deep into the ballgame only allowing him to go five innings. Eighty nine pitches which was part of the plan. They treat sale kind of like. It was the beginning of the season looking to stay in that eighty to ninety range. He was on the top end. There at eighty nine overall pitches. But you had to like what you off. You were a red sox fan especially since it's been two years since one of the best in all of baseball before he got injured who returned to the mount and that's got to be a huge boost for red sox fans coming down the stretch. We also had a retirement. Take place over the last couple of days. Orioles chris davis announced his retirement on thursday ending infamous career. I guess you could say in baltimore. He was going to miss the entirety of this season after surgery and may to repair a labor him in his left hip and ultimately he cited. That injury is part of the reason for his retirement. He came out with a statement saying quotes after an extended time dealing with my injury in recent hip surgery. I inform the orioles about my decision to retire effective today. I want to thank the orioles. Partnership group led by the angelos family the orioles organization my teammates and coaches. Thank you all for many memories that i will cherish forever and quotes and davis at one more year left. Twenty twenty two would have been the final season of his seven year. One hundred and sixty one million dollar contract that he signed davis of course came to baltimore in twenty eleven and a trade from texas where he hadn't hit more than twenty one home runs in a season with the rangers but it thirty three and his first full year with baltimore he led the major leagues twenty thirteen with fifty. Three home runs in two thousand fifteen with forty seven home runs. He finishes his career with two hundred ninety five home runs and thirteen seasons with the orioles in rangers. And of course you know recently thinks had not been going. Great for davis. He had won. Sixty eight in two thousand eighteen went through and ofer fifty four streak in twenty nine thousand nine hundred. Hit one fifteen over fifty two at bats last year before dealing with injury issues so certainly. The tail end of his career was not that great But overall fantastic career in baltimore for davis now davis is also going to be receiving bobby baena like deferred payments from the orioles based on his contract from twenty twenty. Three to twenty twenty-five he will be getting nine point. One six million annually from the orioles from twenty twenty six twenty thirty two. He'll receive.

"Big struggle for both of those guys either in the field or at the mound of just finding consistency to be able to be major league ballplayers, and they're just not gonna They're not going to waste the time. They're not going to That's a bad way to put it. They're not going to waste. Chances to win yet. While trying to develop. They want to still develop these guys the right way. If they feel that, you know if Tristan Mackenzie comes up, especially a guy like him If they bring him up, and he's still pitching in the majors fine, but if he's pitching in the majors and not finding the strike zone and losing confidence to pitch in the majors That could be something that hurts, so they want to send him down and and and bring him back up when he's ready, and I think maybe the situation Just just to clear the head may be the same with the menace. Last tribe question for, you know moment to move to the Browns. What's attendant spend like they did get off to a good start to breathing right down the White Sox neck and now that they've stumbled a little bit, I'm sure there'll be a little bit of a drop off and depending on what they do do it to trade deadline. It may signify how many people will come out. I've always thought of Cleveland as a baseball town. As discerning buyers. If you give us a good team, Yeah will come out. If not all will stay away in droves. What's attendance been like for the first couple of months. Well, it's it's usually a hot button issue here. Um, because it's a ticket driven team. Their television contract isn't very great. It was where they were the first They were like the founding fathers of modern television contracts between teams and and and and media networks. They really were. They did a great job. This was many years ago, but their deal was just too long. And so now it's become a problem for them. Where you know you got a team like the Rays. They make $80 million a year, I think on their on their television contract unions are making about 40. And so the rays they can. They can put a little bit more into it. And I do believe the Dolans. Some people get very upset here in this. I believe the Dolans of they're not going to go into the red. They're going to own their baseball team and still try to make a profit and they they have spent. Mostly, I think what they could To try to put a good product out there in the field. But there's a lot of fans who get upset with that. And so their way to to fight back is to not go to the games. That we have a We have a guy from Crain's Cleveland business who comes on a guy named Kevin Clips is great. And he's done studies. Of attendance. And I know this is a big answer to a short question. But he's on studies of attendance that he's found that the Indians The Indians attendance. In the three summer months are actually very, very good amongst the top third of major league baseball, But at the beginning of the year, I mean, you got 3000 people in the stands. At the end of the year because it's You said it's a baseball town with discerning buyers. It really is they they love the Browns and the bronze are doing well. And people tend to okay. Can I put my money in on a baseball game and cooler weather or I go to a football game that's meant for cooler weather. They go to the football game. So in those those late August September month, it just it dies off. Unless the teams really, really, really good attendance this year. I think it's the same with a lot of teams around the league. I think you feel a lot of weight a lot a lot of ways. Lot of teams feels like Yeah, you kind of Kind of throw something against the wall and see if it sticks because there's there's local ordinances. We were a state that some people may be surprised. We were pretty locked down here for a while, and it's just recently opened up. I believe what June 11th is when they were allowed to have full capacity. Over there at the at the ballpark that the reopening day so they're back at full capacity, but at the same time it's been. They've had to give him time because you have to hire staff. You have to do part time staff for that, yet they have concessions again. And there were people who are they just like a lot of other companies. They had to work shortage they had. They had an employee shortage there, so they had rehire staff and do all those things. So it's been a It's been a process and I think a lot of teams If anybody's listening from a lot of Major League baseball teams out there, they probably nod their head because You kind of don't know what you're going to get from night to night Fireworks work. Dollar dogs work $2 beers work that will get people out to the ballpark there, But it's It's been a trickle effect and not necessarily in the waves that some people just kind of hoped for. When we're kind of getting back to normal there. Nice transition job for me getting to my next topic, Which is the Browns? No, it's a football town first, and people start to get excited last year as well, they should Brown's much improved. I didn't know if the new coach was gonna hit the mark or be another swing and miss which the Browns have done a lot with their coaches over the years, but damn, not only didn't they make the playoffs, they made the playoffs in one They want and they be. They made your rival in Pittsburgh. I'm guessing they're more excited for the Browns upcoming season in this town, and they have been a long time. How high are those expectations? Alternative it, but they are there as high as they've ever been. I think a lot of folks People stopped short of saying Super Bowl because of the eighties. They don't want to jinx it. But they're high. They're really hot. They think they're, um and I think they're one of the you know 56 best teams in the NFL. And if you're one of the 56 best teams in the NFL as a roster, you're going to have a look at it. And so it just basically comes down to what they do, and it's not there. You know the team during the regular season, they're built to run the football. They have one of the best lines in the NFL that that really is a recipe to win a lot of games during the regular season. Their question is going to be what they do in the postseason end. You know what comes the baker in the postseason, or are they going to open him up in the post season and and and let him go? Cody KO with Josh Allen Patrick Mahomes? Those type of guys. Because that's that's usually what gets you over. It's going to be who your quarterback is. And those big, big big moments in the FC or NFC Championship game, and then the Super Bowl. You're usually going to have something like that. But this team, it seems built to win a lot of games that are 17 game schedule. They should win 11 12. Don't 13 games a lot of games to win. I don't know if that's a reasonable expectation expectation, but they should certainly win double digits. They should vie for the division. They should buy for a first round bye, even though that's very difficult to do now. But they should be able to get to the same place they were last year. They should be able to get to a divisional round as long as everybody stays healthy, But that's everything in the lake. It should be able to get to a division around. I think their goal now. And I've said it on here. It's kind of s championship or not bust, But the season would be a failure. You have to take that next step to keep everybody's appetite. What if you if you take a step back, you lose that wild card round or something like that. I think that I think it changes. I think people talk differently about Baker. I think they talk differently about the fans. I think they talk differently about the team in general there. And so there's a lot of expectations are just you know, the Super Bowl is the Super Bowl would be great, and I love him and I want him to go to the Super Bowl. But Generally, it's difficult to get there. That's an easy thing to say..
