These are individuals who speak the language of equity. They don't talk about equality. They talk about equity, which means something different than equality. They pose. Uh and and they They suggest that they're the most tolerant the most open minded, uh, the finest public servants you could ever imagine. Just take those words and turn them around. And instead of talking about West Roxbury have some school committee member. From long ago Louise Day Hicks or a John Kerrigan make comments about other parts of the city. And they would be labeled for what they truly were racist comments these to a racist comments when you talk about the the West, the whites from West Roxbury, the Westie whites sick of Westie whites. What is that other? Other than racism. Uh, and this city needs leadership at this point, probably more than it has in many, many years. This city is being fractured and divided, and people need to start to come together and they have to start to look at each other. Not as white and black. But as members of the human race. Uh, first and foremost, it is not a competition. It should be, uh, striving for excellence, uh and and and giving the best education possible to every kid. In Boston and a lot of kids in Boston. I get in a crappy education because of the teachers union and the school committee. I know his whole family's mother thought he's an outstanding man. Great present for this great citizen of the town. His wife, long dream. Was the coach Ted I'm high and he got it, and unfortunately He lost his position because you stuck up for his family. Yeah, that's a pretty That's a dangerous thing to do these days, isn't it? So we have our freedom and we have this And it's a country is changing, and it's sad, but there's only one positive that came out of this by my friend losing his job. In many cases, both both the husband and wife work in order to get the best education for their Children. And they don't have it The end of the day, the time to go over all of this that they don't know what's going on. I think that there's been an awareness as a result of all of the zoom classes this year, But I gotta be honest with you. We have a lot of listeners and Adam and I hope to hear from or listeners in debt him on this one, because Not only is a dead him, but it's all sorts of communities. And you know people who was sitting in in other communities. I mean, in most high school football programs. Maybe 1234 kids. Mike wanted play college football and of that group. It's It's the It's the exception. It's the pyramid. You know, everybody plays and pop one or whatever. And then high school. Maybe, uh, maybe some get to play in college. And a handful. Very few of them are going to make their living playing a professional sport in Paris have to understand that it's the lessons that they learn on and off the field from their teammates, the coaches and their teachers, which, as you said, scalps them, and it's so important. I'm delighted that you call then I I hope that, um your friend David Flynn, coach flag I have one thing like he He didn't even coach a family member of mine. He didn't even coach my light. My nephew didn't even have the opportunity to play for Dave because he wasn't coaching at the time. But Dave the person that he is He's been around. The football world for 25 30 years whether it's high school college. Plenty. He helped my nephew. Um, go and get recruited from other colleges just out of the kindness of his heart, that type of person we have here. He's a very smart guy. And you know what? Because he kept on top, the curriculum and what is kid's going through. He opened up my eyes and I opened you. I hope that he opens Ah lot more people. That is not just indulge him everywhere. Oh, absolutely. That this This is just not a dad am story. I'm using it as an example. And I hope to hear from or from or dead and residents tonight again. My audience is a smart audience, and I'm surprised that That enough people that more people are not calling in and criticizing the administration there. I don't know if you have a school committee. I assume you have a school committee. But if you folks have to, Ah, kid to get active out there And talk to the school committee members and let them know that this is an injustice that should not stand. There were decisions made by this principal and the superintendent in this athletic director, which I think eventually going to cost them some money. And even if it doesn't cost them with some money, the decision morally is bankrupt. Morally good because their edges they're supposed to be educators not indoctrinate ear's, and they had a pad vacated. Their role is educated. So I I hope you school committee gets active. And if not, I hope the general population gets active and gets a new school committee. We're working on it. We're working on the baby steps, Then it's like, you know, party he goes. Teach the kids. That's what your you're in charge of the education system here. You're losing your job. This is not the first kind of we've heard of this losing his job because he has an unpopular opinion. Well, what it's even. It's even worse than that, in the sense that I don't know that he Was expressing. He certainly had a right to express his opinion of black lives. The black lives matter movement he was expressing. His concern is apparent that this course which was theoretically I guess, geography and history, ancient history and world geography. Which is a pretty traditional course that you would learn. You know what? What The world looked like 2000 years ago. How empires rose and fell and How countries that today might be called The United States of America didn't even exist that I mean, it's a pretty fundamental uh, you know, basic element. What? One on one time course. Wasn't agenda and discuss isn't agenda, guys. They're using that kind of a history class to promote something other than than the ancient history. I mean, why not? When you're doing biology, you know, spend spend half the semester. You know, talking about again. It was a teacher who spent half the time talking about make America great again with that stand. I don't think so. Um, And that's the problem. If you introduce this, you know political conversation into classrooms. That's not the purpose of classrooms. It's not the purpose his his. It is not the purpose. The purpose is to educate our Children and let them form their own opinions. And what we're trying to do is force an opinion down there from right now. Right now, Public education in America has is now lapsed to the point of as opposed to teaching. Young people how to think they're trying to teach them what to think. And there's a huge I I agree with you, Dan. And just it worries me that if your opinion is not popular anymore, you can't voice it. We used to as Americans be able to voice our opinion, right, wrong or indifferent and we could agree to disagree. We're losing that right now. No question. No question time. Or if I want to go to town hall and ask questions, or if I want I want to go and going to district Court and fight in a parking ticket. Or a speeding ticket. Uh, I'm gonna have to interact with public employees. And I'm sorry, folks. That's kind of part of your job. Now, I'm sure many public employees will disagree with me. If you're a public employee, and you agree, by the way, if you're a public employees And you're working in a town hall. You work in an expert in place. You're working any of the state facilities around the country around the state. Don't you want to know that everybody else has been vaccinated? I mean, that's what this deal is all about. Now, I know that there were some people who have deep religious beliefs, and I think you need to have the exceptions. But I think there should be a standard. You work for the public. What's your take on the depth of the problems that Andrew Cuomo was now facing in New York? Maybe this is my take. No problem compared compared come out to Hitler. Connection, Holmes to reduce the nurse, the numbers of healthy elderly residents to have more room and nursing homes for the elderly. Yeah, you know again, Jal. But I just think it was outrageous, outrageous that at a time when Cuomo was looking for help From the federal government, and, by the way help it was provided. And then, in the meantime, he sending he's basically sending People carrying death. No fault of their own. I mean, they should have been isolated somewhere. Uh, somewhere, um, into nursing homes. So I mean, Was insane, and then the arrogance of this guy. It knows no bounds. I dealt with his father, Mario Cuomo, who also was a very arrogant politician. So the Apple did not fall far from the tree, Joe. So, Dan, then come over the Democrats. Yes. You think it was a Republican? You get more You could be in more trouble than as a Democrat, because it time will do anything to him. Well, I don't know. I mean, I was heartened to see the attorney general in New York was also a Democrat. Um, you know, go after him. Uh, I think that shows how serious the problem is. Um, you know again, I don't know that they can go after him. Criminally. To be honest with you because I think you would have to be able to prove a state of mind. You know that that he was doing this to do exactly what you just alluded to, and that is, you know, based basically winnowing out the population. They used it as an opportunity to to wreck havoc and I think to disgrace themselves, although they don't care about being disgraced, but they also did immense harm. Well, I just thought when I heard it, I thought, Oh, it's probably gonna be his last rally and to have all the people that supported him over the four years. The counting was over all of the hopes about getting the election overturned. Uh, those hopes had disappeared. It marked the swearing in of the 117th Congress. What was interesting about the prayer was thean ending, and I think it makes more sense to just play it and let you hear it. And then we'll talk about it. Rob, we ask it in the name of the monotheistic God. Right and God, known by many names by many different faiths. Hey, man. And a woman. Okay? Amen. And a woman. Before I talk about the amen part. It should be. If it's amen, and you're making a pun. It should be a women. It's always bothered me, by the way the woman women thing, it's women, plural woman singular, but that's not the point. The point is the word. Amen. Is synonymous with religious activity because it has nothing to do with gender. Amen does not mean a man or several men. Amen is based on the Hebrew on main, which sort of relates to the word truth. And it's um, a celebration of awareness of understanding. At the close of a prayer. I mean, you know how many people in our audience know what I'm talking about, Everybody No, the congressman Suggested later. I guess that he was making a pun because the outgoing chaplain is a woman. And and, of course, everybody's playing with gender terms, of course, but the dumbest thing I've ever heard of, politicians say. Let me go Find it again. I got to see if I can quote this. Um, let's see might have been the one where a particular congressman I forget where he was from was interviewing a general one of our military. About I think Guam, the island of Guam and putting a base or adding Armaments to the island, and the politician said something to the effect Well, if we put too much weight on one side of the island Won't the island tip over. Remember that one folks. Some things that politicians say. Um, So that's the one that really stands out. But this one today, the Amen and a women Man, that's that's right up there. Um And there was so many examples of that, anyway. I just thought I'd pass that along. So we were earlier talking about more important issues than a men and a woman and that, of course, deals with the election and also with the vaccine. We talked in the early portion of our one on night side about The idea of vaccine core comprised of college age students. In the health care area and other areas to help support the effort. That was a very positive idea brought up by the U mass folks and I heartily endorse it. And then we started talking, of course about the election and Trump and the famous now phone call between Trump in the secretary of state. And we've had a lot of reaction on both sides of the aisle on all sides of the aisle. But if you're like me and you believe That we can always do better. We can always improve the election process and we have to really focus on the election process going forward, But the election is not going to Go the other way and be overturned. There's too many wheels in motion, and there is just isn't enough hard evidence. And do I think the president was criminal and his phone call suggesting Go find me the 11,000 votes? No, He just says a lot of stuff and it comes out. The way it comes out. But I do believe he's grasping at straws here and is kicking and screaming to the finish line.
