It's something that doesn't get nearly enough attention. And that is why we are having this conversation today. Dash dot org by the way is the website and we're going to be referencing than telling people where to go and all these great resources to help combat human trafficking. But maybe heather in your words how. How would you describe. The michigan abolitionist project. The michigan abolitionist project is an organization that is working to prevent an end human trafficking specifically in michigan. And beyond so. Our main focus is in training and education helping to educate citizens of michigan about human trafficking. What it is how to recognize it. Recognize the signs and to collaborate with other organizations and people in michigan to work together to help human trafficking. Here now. emily. You said you are in the southeast corner is so. Is it broken down in different sections just throughout michigan. Here i would say kathy. Kathy maitland our executive director. We both live in the metro detroit area. So that's just where kind of the hub is currently But not with heather. We are expanding across the across the state slowly on as we get more and more staff But i would say for for a long time. I mean we originated actually in the grand rapids area and then it's kind of just followed wherever the executive director is okay. How long is the michigan. Abolitionist project ben around. I think we started as a grassroots organization. Two thousand twelve to start with a small group of volunteers that eventually became very own five. Oh one c. three. So yes so really. This just came as a passion project for people seeing in made for information for for helping people going through this and and and started that up which is pretty amazing right there. I mean you'd think this would be something that should be taken care of at a high high level but now it takes everyday people like you know you and heather and doing that and all the other.

"If seven on your wednesday morning northern colorado's voice one of three one thirteen ten kfi gay marnie scale from the auto collision specialists studios. All right. time did not permit today because there is just so darn much going on these days but One crack this open tomorrow because let's just say that there's a little consternation going on when it comes to ongoing mass requirements in schools. Now you've got tri county health this tri county health department. Well yeah kind of in a divorce right now Basically as you got officials saying we're not playing by your rules anymore. So you've got that going on this. As douglas. County voted formally leave tri county health. And you know over the long weekend. Got into a conversation With a student that is in douglas county and he minced no words talking about the mass mandate and how the students are actually responding to it. in this particular douglas county school. So we're gonna get into this tomorrow. Because i'll tell you what it It is gaining speed. And it's interesting when you you know. Look kind of across the board. It seems as though parents are pretty evenly split when it comes to these mass these ongoing mask requirements. Pretty much fifty fifty and they're quite vocal about their particular preference Particularly those who are anti mask. While i've got some fascinating information Talking about how mass actually have well. A negative impact on many of our kids got a new study saying that. You know most of those face masks that we plaster on our faces. They don't work because they're not designed in the proper way to stop the spread of the virus again. But it's all about personal choice. I tell you what we'll get into that tomorrow. Noko now up next..

"And i fully support what they're doing right well and i think that said it really well when you're when you're talking about saying hey the they've got a specific laid you know. Every every there's there's a reason for everything we'd like to think that there is a reason for everything. But when i personally feel the tri county health department got out of its lane when it said no. You can't vote against as you can't opt out of mask wearing from two year olds and up. I think that they got out of their laying there By the way the decision was unanimous from the county so it was unanimous the re they released a resolution august tenth declaring its position on cove nineteen variants. Vaccinations and and mask orders and douglas. County has Has decided to opt out of that So that was the big news this morning this coming from katie dot com as well But i mean you're seeing as look there's a reason why scientists don't run everything right because it's a specific specific type of person. They've a specific outlook on it. And i appreciate their input. But at a certain point you know scientists would also i if scientists and doctors and things like that ran everything you know. We wouldn't be able to drink a beer. I mean we wouldn't be able to shake hands. It would be any of that. So there's a certain point where yet. Yeah no mountain dew for my the. There's a certain point where you have to step aside and say here's my recommendations. Do with it what you will now. You're absolutely right and commissioner marino is absolutely right. They're focused on one thing and one thing only right. That's it yeah. There's a much bigger picture. I don't believe that we needed to completely destroy the economy of this country over what was going on with kobe. That's what we that's that's essentially what we were trying to do There's a lot we have to look at a lot. Bigger picture doesn't mean that we we that we discount the health issues or the seriousness of this disease. But there's a lot of other factors that come into this and you can't make every decision based on just that one you know you go back to the deal you know but bhai gosh if we could just save one life. Wouldn't it be worth it and my answer to that is okay. Then let's make the speed limit five miles an hour and we'll never have somebody killed in a car accident. You know what life has risks. You need you need to manage those risks to the best of your ability and and you as an individual will make the decisions that are in the best interest in the tolerant that you're willing to take any any thoughts on that. I think that was pretty. Well said well said it's pretty well said Okay so wanted to get to that. One real quick Want to put a tiempo on this commissioner freeman. He showed me an email that you received I think back in march there was. I can't believe somebody thought of the words To put it that grossly of an email compiled with the haiti mel to you. How do you deal with that. How do you deal with hate speech towards you hate emails other the negative stuff. And how do you not respond because after a couple of whiskey. That definitely would be hit. That reply reply button. How do you guys handle that. He you know what i at the end of the day to do this job. You can't take anything personally. You've got to have a really thick skin. And that's exactly where i'm at. I mean as we talked about it a number of times last year our emails and text messages and phone message. Were running about fifty fifty quite honestly Either we fully support you or we hope you and your family die. I mean that's kind of where we were and we said was level headed. Yeah and where..

"He said he always used to say well. Now i'm distracted. Where were we going to totally lost my train of thought along the way what you hate that. It's better for them to be talking about you. It's it's a good thing where they're talking about you when they're not talking about you. Something's wrong. I absolutely agree with you on that okay. Let's get it up before. I lose my train of thought. Again mar mike. Just take a show. Go ahead son. Yeah oh no. I didn't like them that. That is true. 'em older than your your grandpappy. I'm ready for that. I am not ready for that. But no i am fired up today but first before we get fired. Okay i do want to throw a shout out to colorado farm bureau and remember lou schultz. You look great guy. And he's a he's a farm bureau agent But i wanna throw a shout out to colorado farm bureau. They they actually sent someone out to my shop on a brand new day and we looked the car over and he said this is a brand new car. We gotta fix this right. And i'm like are you okay. Kobe temperature here that right. I just want. I just wanna say man. What an. I really wanna say kudos farm bureau because they send somebody out. They allowed him and like what he said he goes. I have tawny to do the right thing. And he did. And he's doing the right thing so get on. After insurance companies the allstate's the safe does the right. You know the state farms the farmers. I get after them Because you know the the sad thing is they don't allow those adjusters to do the right thing it is. Everybody thinks well. My insurance company cares about your agent might care right but your claims office can't or they don't keep their jobs period period. That's the way it is with. I would say ninety five percent at one of the things. I'm fired up. The most about is the. And i'm i'm gonna come back on i'm gonna keep harping on this photo estimating When your insurance company tells you to take a picture and then they're going to have the money in your account that afternoon. It is a very bad thing. I'm also seeing that. Because i i look at my market. I fixed cars. That's what i do right been. I've been in business. I've owned that place since eighty seven and so we. We have stood the test of time because we care right absolutely care. But i i look around. Tanner and i look at other websites of these. Like these big consolidators right and you see them actually promoting this nonsense of sunday's a picture and we'll write an estimate. Know how you can't do that. Why are you. Why are you making this a reasonable thing because no one can write an estimate from a picture. It can't happen there. Are things in life that you have to do in person and getting an accurate estimate on your car is one of them and if anybody tells you or tries to sell you on the fact i mean we can look at a picture and say hey i think but right. That's all you can do well. In determining the value of things right now too is something that has been so. I just had a. I had a buddy that went is going through something like this. You know he. He got an accident they told us pick up and talking with the insurance agency and this he's got a great insurance agent and ended up for him yeah absolutely and he He said look. You can kelley blue book this thing and you know it's it's probably gonna come back at eighteen. You know maybe seventeen thousand dollars. He said but look at the used pickup market right now and what they did. This guy went. And i can. I mean steve baer insurance bear insurance out in wiggins and he said well. You know what i'll do is i'll run a nationwide search for similar pickups and the average price now what kelley blue book booked at a at like eighteen thousand the lowest one he could find. There's only nineteen totally came back. The lowest one was like twenty four thousand dollars and they said he would pay down for for rights. The insurance pot lot of people don't know this and i'm glad you bring this up because that's that's another place. I get really fired up. When i see insurance companies Do a market analysis right. What the insurance policy says is that it will either pay to repair your car. Back to pre loss condition or pay up to the actual cash value. Yeah that's what is the actual act. Actual cash value is willing-buyer-willing-seller in an open market. Right and so how you arrive at that number. Is you find comparable cars and you know if like you said if it doesn't it they don't oh you book value. They don't owe you what you think it's worth. Ao you and you get that by finding other vehicles and if those were twenty four thousand one could assume yours. Do your research folks entrust your neighbor. Well some of your neighbors. Along the way mike. We got off on a tangent. We need to get a break. We'll come back on.

Now how to mask prevent the spread of over nineteen goes through The doctors here on this. Study to to Doctors dr dickenson kimberly dickinson is a pediatric pulmonary. I think it's still out there. Let's let's say it is safe k. Let's say it's not gonna have any effects on the lungs of these children. What about the psyche of it two years old and and having to wear that mask and every time you go out you know not being able to see that face recognition of people that they can trust not being able to understand that okay. Yes they are safe. It starts to set the precedent that well. Maybe we're maybe were not safe. Maybe i shouldn't trust these other people. Maybe these other people are going to put me in harm's way there's a mental aspect to this as well and it's one that hasn't received a whole lot of conversation about and it should two years old in required to wear a mask is is alarming to me. It it really is. And if i was a parent at this point and i had a kid at that age that was getting ready to get into Get into preschool or kindergarten. Or whatever age. We were travelling so people could just pop in a cassette and listen to the people around them as they drove on through. We never quite pulled off that cassette idea on a large scale but when davy moved east for a while we decided to try the idea out on route sixty six. She'd be driving a lot so that was the start. It was the end of the road. It was the last days surf route. Sixty six as we were traveling. I mean just trying to follow it at that. Point was a you know you drive down. Affronted tro that was the old highway. And then it would just bottom out. And there'd be broken asphalt or cactus. So we're trying to get icon of people from each stretch of the road and mickey mantle grew up on route sixty six. He played baseball team. Known as the baxter springs with kids the scout for the yankees with dr along route. Sixty six looking for up and coming ballplayers and manel hits this home. Run across the highway. And that's part of how he was spotted. So we're going. where can we find mickey mantle. We started to kind sniff around joplin missouri. The mickey mantle holiday inn. And someone said. Oh yeah there's a golf tournament going. On and mickey mantle. One of his sons. Were playing so. I just called the golf course. Said ma'am please speak to mr mantle. Suddenly there was mickey mantle on the telephone. We explain the story to him. And what we're doing in route sixty six and agrees to meet us and poor mickey. He could hardly walk by that time has knees. Were just blown out. Sorta bandy leg walks up one flight of stairs gets in the room. He just gives me a look and he just goes hallo. We're lucky they saw health workers in person in the parking lot. Left with vaccine appointments, mostly for the following week. Meanwhile, across Georgia, people were left calling their local health departments acknowledged as underfunded and under equipped for the task not only by the state's head of public health, but also the governor. And his health department phone lines crashed. People compare the process to dialing for concert tickets, subtle nod to baby boomers or, like Monica Miller, Gen Xers dialing for their parents. Miller's mom in rural Crawford County tried to make the call ourselves starting at nine in the morning. She lasted half an hour. Was she She really was frustrated. So I was thinking to myself. Oh, okay. We're just gonna keep trying. So Miller turned to high tech. I went to my app store, and I found an app that said, Read, I'll app the re dial at what? Miller? Tell her phone. Okay, Call the health department. Wait, 10 seconds, then try again. Gave her time to hear a busy signal or when someone picked up. The APP dialed more than 400 times over the next six hours. So finally about 3 45 it picked up and it says you are placed in. Q. After that it was quick. She got appointments for a parents that a vaccine site a county over about 40 miles away. Success, but for the way that I did it Like I would not expect the average senior to be able to do that. But finding the first dose is just the first test of patients. Both the Fizer and Madonna vaccines require a second booster shot. Former nurse Sashi Brown spent days finding a private vaccine provider and hour and a half away. Around, says When she sat down for the first shot. She asked the technician when she could schedule the booster. She fell. I can't do that. And I said What do you need that? Well, we're not sure we'll have a vaccine. I like that. Well, that might be a real problem. Brown says. The clinic promised the collar when they have more vaccine for a booster dose. Meanwhile, just in case she's combing through the provider list again back in Bleckley County Mom, you need to make an appointment. Very, Dillard says. Surely.

"Radio. Want to switch gears for just a couple of minutes and I'm gonna talk about China flew the coronavirus. Because I mentioned in that last segment. A couple of these Democrats muckety mucks around the country. Just in time for the inauguration of Joe Biden. I've decided that maybe the lockdowns really are working. There are a lot of publications. They're starting to come out now and maybe it's coincidental, but I don't believe in D. C that there are any coincidences. A lot of these publications. Are starting to demonstrate through pure review studies there. The pandemic locked down May not provide significantly more benefits to slowing the spread of the Corona virus. Just voluntary measures. You know, just things are Mom's Thomas. Don't pick your nose. Wash your hands. Don't cough if you're sick, Stay home. The things that we should be doing, regardless of whether there's a Corona virus or not. No, there are thousands of Corona viruses out there. The European Journal of Clinical Investigation. Just listen to weeks ago. Analyzed coronavirus growth and Tim countries. In early 2020. Compared cases in England, France, Germany, Iran, Italy, the Netherlands, Spain in the United States, all countries. They looked at South Korean Sweden. Which instituted less severe voluntary responses. Hold one hand. You've got these Western European countries. Plus Iran and the United States. All doing mandatory lockdown, So they had South Korea which remarry if you could remember back To what will soon be a year ago. Everybody played the South Korea. Oh, this is the way we should be doing it. Except we didn't South Korean Sweden had much less severe they had voluntary responses. So these researchers used a mathematical model to compare the countries that did and did not enact the severe restrictive lockdowns. And they determined that there was quote no clear, significant beneficial effect of more restrictive measures on coronavirus case growth in any country. In any country. What we what should we conclude from just that statement? That regardless of what we did remember, I can remember when I first started talking about the coronavirus back in March. And I used the phrase that sent some listeners through the roof. That is that if you look, I wasn't very good in biology. I got a passing grade. I understand. The virus is Virus. They do what they're going to do. Oh, you you can. You know? Try to take medications and you can do the kinds of things that we should be doing anyway. Just in terms of personal hygiene. But the virus is going to find a host. It's going to replicate is going to mutate. Just going to try to grow. It's going to try to spread The way you keep it from spreading. Is not to Fit in him. You think about the summertime? If you have central air conditioning. Your house is sealed up. So we told everybody to stay home. So if you were like me, and you still went to work, and you came home If I happen to bring it home, I'm bringing it into a home that is pretty much dramatically sealed. Same in the wintertime. You look around right now. Something. You got good windows. Get a nice heating system. You want that air to stay? Yeah. You want your house to be sealed up? So somebody gets sick, Everybody staying home. It's gonna just It's gonna drive right through everybody in that home. So we shouldn't be surprised by that at all. Newsweek. Says this We do not question the role of all public health is in reporting on this study. We do not question the role of all public health interventions or of coordinated communications about the epidemic, but we failed to find any additional benefit of stay at home orders and business closures. You'll have to do, but it's got Stupid has gotten Cameron. I went to We went through a Well, I don't care. I'll tell you what we went to war whose for lunch today. We went to sit inside because the cold front is moving in, and it was cold. And so you know, we had to do the stupid thing. You know, there's poor manager talked to the manager for a while. He's standing at a table by the front door. Do you want to eat in or get out? What? We want to eat him and he kind of laughed. I wouldn't do. I wouldn't eat out there. And so you know, he rather than ask your name and phone number. He just had a little sheet there and you just write down your name and phone number for contact tracing and so warns even had lunch today and Pablo Blanc. I started asking he and his two girls, two yellow strips of paper. And of course, now I'm really curious. What's this? What are these for? Well, you have to put him on your table. Have to put him in your table so that if you get up and go to the restroom, or you go out to your car and come back, if during that time period, Tri County Health Department happens to walk in Why they know that the people sitting there that there were two people at that table and they've already checked in. And they've been cleared through the gauntlet to sit down and eat and I kind of Got a kind of little Beaten grin on my face. Then he did to, like kind of rolled my eyes and I said Do you really think Tri County's gonna show up? No, Go round right now. Then we get mean. Then he brought it up. Yeah, we have to do all of this. I have to pay somebody to stand here, although I'm doing it today because we're short on help. I mean, we get hit within the increase in the minimum wage. So our margins you're just getting tighter and tighter and tighter. It is almost as if the government wants and Tri County Health Department wants to drive small businesses out of business. Hard to come to any other conclusion. Because The virus is gonna do what it's going to do. Now we're getting pure reviewed studies just in time for a new president. That show, you know, maybe the lockdown don't work.

"Brian calls his hair president counter forward talking vaccine Yes, we are. And the governor of Ohio said yesterday that day even though this first phase is not complete yet where we're taking care of health care workers and E M. T s They are ready to move into phase one be within two weeks now. He didn't give us the specifics on how this is gonna work, said those details are coming. But Mike DeWine did say yesterday that in about two weeks he wants to start Vaccinating teachers, and he wants to start vaccinating people or 65 older. Now you're talking over two million people in that group. And they don't have the vaccine at this point, or at least the promise of that much vaccine to do everyone you know, beginning at the end of January, so he hopes to have it all complete by March, 1st. So that schools he says, could get back to normal. Now what we don't know is will they do it like the nursing homes and you know Walgreens or CVS goes into that school, then vaccinates everybody on the staff at the same time. Well, Teachers have to sign up somewhere, you know, to get the shot. And how do you reach everybody in the state of 65 older and get them somewhere where they can get the shot? I think the school is the easy part. You would think that's the way they would do it but in larger populations But I mean, you know, I mean, that's hopefully I mean, he said it could be your county fairgrounds, right? I mean, I would imagine you'll have locations like we had for testing. You know, a tent set up somewhere and you drive up and you get your shot.
