"I don't want to hear his first time. I don't want to hear nothing. I don't want to hear none of that. Because that's by home not done let it go all year long. Start this. My whole point to start this was Kyle Shannon got The Rookie nerds out of his capable quarterback in the first half. And this should be done now. That's what I'm saying. They should be done now. You want to make the punch Seattle start tackles at rook rookie tackles? Those tags will start at 17 games. The Rookie season is over. They should be done with that now. They shouldn't be done. Started 5 games, four games. And you know what he came on his first play off game. First 15 minutes looked shaky as can be. He looked like an earthquake out there. You know what he did since then? Steady it. In part because of the play calling by Kyle Shanahan. And he illustrated the same thing with his play calling in the last three playoff runs with Jimmy Garoppolo, because any time he attempted. He's lost. Okay, so we lost. Where's this great so badly? Where's this great Shane in that place? 9 times. Jimmy Garoppolo so badly. He mortgaged the entire future of his organization with three picks. It's a Russell Wilson type deal for Trey lands. And the forty-niners are right here in the playoffs and when the Broncos are the worst team in football. I wonder what that is. It has to do with the quarterback position. I'm sure. So you're telling me that Kyle Shanahan won it to get rid. He wanted to grow up a little gone. So bad that he mortgaged the future on Trey Lance, who himself sat at a press conference one day. And everybody across the board can see that the guy was not ready to be a starting quarterback. In the NFL with the small teeny drip sampling that we saw from Trey Lance and college, you're telling me that Shanahan so good. That he saw a guy that had under ten starts in college and say, I want to get rid of the quarterback that took me to a Super Bowl. Took me to conference championship games and actually went on the road last year, won me two playoff games, had me up ten and so 5 in my secondary decided to say, well, we're gonna let Cooper Cup run two post routes and just let Matthew Stafford throw him to football. That same coach is so smart and saw the future so well that he's like, yeah, we'll take party in the third 'cause he's gonna be the guy that's gonna lead us in the playoffs in 2022. But the reason why, I mean, you know what? You know what guys? This is exactly what you do. You trade the number three pick in 2021, you're not your first rounder in 2021, 2022 and 2023, and your third round in 2022 to keep a guy. That's exactly why you trade. One, two, three, four, 5. It sounds like a, hey. It's exactly why you do it. To keep a guy. Steve the sager, please update us on what's going on in this game and the stellar performance by one Brock purdy. Just about taking the time with a minute to go in San Francisco, niners leading Seattle 41 23 now, Brock purdy with over 330 yards passing four total touchdowns, no interceptions in the last 6 years or so of the postseason, the only quarterbacks with those numbers are Patrick Mahomes Matt Ryan and Aaron Rodgers, San Francisco will be home next weekend. Seattle sees an end. Niners on an 11 game winning streak now, final seconds are ticking down Geno Smith with a late touchdown pass to make it two TDs two turnovers, DK Metcalf in the loss, ten receptions, a 136 yards, two touchdowns for Seattle. It's a final, 41, 23, San Francisco advances Christian McCaffrey on 15 carries, had a 119 yards rushing plus a touchdown reception. The niners scored on literally almost every

"For the bucks 43, deebo, taking the hand off, he got tangled up and fumbled in that was where the injury happened looked even worse right there and he's holding his leg as you just heard from Adam. Okay, be okay, come on. All right, next forty-niners possession, 22 seconds left in the hat. First and ten and buck territory purdy and darts to Brandon ayuk for the TD. I love the design. You kind of condensed the split you fake like you're gonna run a curl with curl and go easy touchdown pass from purdy. Early third quarter, forty-niners lead 28 to nothing bucks facing third and 5 and forty-niners territory Brady with the pressure he doesn't like. He unloads it, and it's intercepted by tayshaun Gibson. I don't know if the wheels. 36 for San Francisco. They just do a great job of tying their Russian cover. Here's more on Brock purdy. He keeps performing for those niners. They believed in me even though I was the last draft pick and all that kind of stuff. They've always been telling me you're good enough and we know that you can do it. And so to see them after that performance meant a lot to me. And so very blessed to have them as my family. Can this league you have to be very intelligent? I think that's one of the biggest things that I've learned playing in my 6 year now. And for a rookie to come in and process this offense and do everything by the book, but then add his own flair to it is very impressive. I had a lot of confidence in him, but obviously it's the NFL and you got to go perform and he did that pretty darn good. Honestly, who doesn't get chills with Brock purdy's parents crying in the stands? It's such a good story. Absolutely love to see it. I mean, we now have a game and a half of film on purdy as a starter in the NFL. What is different about these forty-niners offense with him under center? You know, Laura, last week we were asking, can Brock purdy approximate what Jimmy Garoppolo did in this offense? And now I feel comfortable asking the question, can he actually elevate it and do more? Which is wild, but what he did yesterday was wild. I mean, two things come to mind that differentiate and perhaps what McCaffrey was talking about when he said he added his flair to the game. One is the ability to extend plays with his legs. Of course, he saw the touchdown there. There was a throw, I think it was in the beginning of the second quarter where he sidesteps try and shrink, and then finds debo Samuel. I've never seen Jimmy Garoppolo. I don't want to, you know, bring his name into it, make that kind of play, but it is an added element to the offense. And then the other thing is he's using more of the field. So these are the two quarterbacks heat maps. Again, obviously a small sample size for pretty good. You can see right here. It's really all been about the middle of the field, of course, in the San Francisco offense, rarely attacking outside the numbers. Rock Bernie was using the whole football field and that changes things so much for defenses the way they play the niners, knowing that not only they can use the middle of the field, but also stretch it in different ways. I gotta say, I was blown away by what he did in this game and what he is capable of doing down the road. I think what McCaffrey alluded to and what MK just said, the extension of plays. That's why they drafted Trey lands. That's why a lot of people thought that this offense would take another step with Trey Lance coming in, just adding not only the extension of plays, but like Mina alluded to, but given this offensive another nuance. Beyond what the spin cycle you are already in, trying to defend what Kyle Shanahan is putting on just from just from a technique standpoint. So I look at this with Brock purdy and we all have talked about how quarterback friendly it is to play for San Francisco. But the fact that you can go beyond the exes in those and when the play call is not necessarily there, have the ability to extend, it makes them unguardable. I think that's why they drafted Trey Lance, and I think this is the element that purdy is adding to make this offense even more dangerous than they're already is. Yeah, I mean, you saw it visually with that heat map that heat map was hot. We got one. We got one. We got two. But what was hotter than the other because it was Brock purdy? All right, so Dan, Shanahan had a week to prepare a game plan with pretty as the quarterback. Unlike last week, when he had to just kind of be thrown in there, what did you make of the offensive game plan? This was the best run game plan both in design and creativity and execution that they've had all year. And that's really interesting because you're trying to temper your expectation. Like, you see, that's McAfee at the bottom of the screen. There's debo playing. Kale back. So just like the flip of the personnel there is so good. This time it's back to McCaffrey that condense the split and they have kittle condensing down. Now we've got two pullers, excuse me, and this is midline essentially. So like all the different run games that they did, a run game design that did, it was the best when it came to their numbers gain use. You guys have heard me talk about that. I haven't really seen that this year from the run game when it comes to gaining the numbers. They haven't used a ton of motion in their run game this year. The backside of their run game was so much better yesterday, Trent Williams, specifically it has been all year. So I'm trying to temper the expectations, and I wanted to touch real quickly on something that MK hit on because she was talking about all the different things that the offense is doing in the past game. And it kind of intimates to what McCaffrey sound was. There's so much that goes into the quarterbacks having to understand in this offense. Well, kiddos here in one play here the next play here, the next play, McCaffrey, Sarah is a receiver that a tailback. That takes so much intellectual ability to handle. That's still the most impressive thing that I've seen from him is handling that. Yeah, big brain Brock. They have a seat hawks on Thursday, so a short pink. "And I think that's probably one of the four or 5 best rosters in the league. So yeah, I mean, if everything goes like 100% the plan, that four to 6 month timetable on the optimistic end of it could put you in a position where Lance could be ready to play before. The end of the at the end of the playoffs at the very least. Isn't it crazy? 5 quarters into the season, the niners break the glass and the Jimmy G insurance policy. I know, right? Yeah. I mean. I will say that I do think so what's interesting about this one to me is I do think the niners so part of this was done with the long-term view in mind and everything else. But I think on Labor Day weekend going into week one, I think the niners probably felt like at that point in time, Jimmy Garoppolo was a better quarterback than Trey lands. I think the hope was, and you go on with Trey Lance because of the ceiling that by playing a 17 game season by the time you get to the end of this season, Trey Lance is a better quarterback than Jimmy Garoppolo. Now, you lose all of that time on task that you were going to get with Trey Lance. So where does that leave Trey Lance? Again, going into the playoffs potentially are going into 2023. It's just fascinating that way because I do think there's a fair amount of confidence. More confidence that people think and Jimmy Garoppolo as a quarterback. I just think that that relationship got complicated and I think Kyle Shanahan's experience in the super bowls, right? Like losing to Tom Brady the way that he did and through about 51 and then obviously losing the Patrick Mahomes the way he did in Super Bowl 54 sort of influenced the idea that you needed to raise the ceiling at that position, but there's still a fair amount of confidence in Jimmy Garoppolo to get the job done in that building. And then Zach Wilson, the initial conversation was two to four weeks, potentially, and then right after week one, Robert Salas, or right before it saying, yeah, we're targeting week four against Pittsburgh, and that's right around the corner. What do you think? What's going on there? It's like a look pretty good last week, too, didn't he? Well, he certainly he certainly looked very sharp and if I'm Zach Wilson, I'm taking notes. That's for damn sure. Yeah. You know? Yeah, I mean, you know, I think one of the benefits for Zach Wilson here is going to be like everything that he's gone through over the last year and the role that Joe Flacco has played for him. I know there was a point last year where Zach Wilson legitimately had the yips. And that was part of the reason why they brought John back in, who's his throwing coach to work for the team at the end of the year last year and why they sort of slow played his return from injury. And the coaching staff went back in the off season and said, we need to streamline the offense. And we need to get him playing faster. And so they took a bunch of stuff out of the offense and they married up some things and they tried to make it so he could play faster out there. And one of the things that was really influential for Zach and going through all of that was the message from Joe Flacco to Zach was stop worrying about every single thing out there. Stop worrying about what the backside corner is doing on every play. It's like you'll get that like Peyton Manning and Tom Brady eventually got to that point. No one your age is doing that. Just worry about your job and I think Joe has sort of like you've influenced Zach that way and now he's been able to put that on the field. And so Zach getting to watch that, I think it's great. You know what I mean? Like so who knows if Zach Wilson's going to be like the ten or 15 year answer for the jets they hold he'd be when he took them second overall. But I actually think there could be a silver lining here and going through what he went through based on the influence that Flacco's had on his career. So what do you think? Week four or if Flacco takes care all right, week four, you still take it. I think it's probably, I think it's probably week four. Yeah, I mean, putting them out there in 7 on 7 this week and then getting them back and folksy and drills next week. At least feels like they're trying to ramp them up for weeks four. Now again, I guess you could use the same principle here that you use with the cowboy that I use the cowboys, right? Like where I said like Cooper rush, like playing as well as he did, like kind of gives you a little flexibility if you do want to give them an extra week. You can. I think the same principle applies here, blackout flight so well. If you want to give them the extra week. But I don't think that this is any sort of like, hey, you know, maybe Joe Flacco is a starting quarterback. It's nothing like that. I think does give you a little flexibility where if you want to take the extra week again. Last one for you, Albert breer is tonight's Thursday night game. We just talked about the jets and the browns still licking their wounds, at least for them. The good news, it's a

It feels like they're going to, you know, when oklahoman Texas leave, you look at the revenue per revenue producing schools, football schools, big 12 is not in the mix at all. And you just wonder, what are they going to be in a couple of years? Once we get around to having playoffs expanded to 12 teams, is the big 12 going to exist. What's the PAC 12 going to look like? What's the Big Ten going to look like? And does the ACC ACC has had a good start so far this year? What's the ACC look like? And of course the SEC of the Big Ten. But big 12 is open for schools to come on in and join them. So my trico joins is coming up. We'll have some picks for you coming up. I'll give you my Super Bowl pick coming up a little bit later on this hour. Seat and poll question for our two. We'll get some phone calls in here. We put up there most surprising pro bowler this season. Carson Wentz Trey Lance, Daniel Jones. Two a tongue by law. Okay. Right now early results have two of the people would be most surprised by tua. Oh, I would be surprised by Daniel Jones. Although I wonder if they actually have this flipped where people are voting on it wrong because Carson Wentz right now is last, and I would be pretty surprised if he was a pro bowler this year. I would be, I'd be more surprised if Daniel Jones made the Pro Bowl than Carson Wentz. Like, I know Carson Wentz can play at an MVP level. Trey lands, I think he's going to be must see TV, but that could be good and bad. It comes down to accuracy. A source of mine, NFL scouts it. It's all about accuracy for Trey. That he has the talent. He's got he's in an offense that will make him better, make him look better, maybe than what he really is, because it did that with Jimmy G it comes down to being accurate. Kyle Shanahan will draw up some great plays for him. You know, you might throw for 22 touchdowns and run for 5. I want to know how many interceptions he has and can he keep you in a game help you win a game? Can San Francisco use him the way Seattle used Russell Wilson when they first started out with Russ as their starting quarterback. It's just keep us in games and then can you help us win a couple of games? Late in games, can you use your legs? And that's going to happen with Trey Lance. You want to see what a quarterback is like in the fourth quarter. It guys look great, Hall of Famers, first three quarters. Game on the line. You need a game winning drive. That's when you find out. I want to know what you're like in the red zone. What do you like on third down? Those are the important stats to keep an eye on.

"So that would be probably early next week. I mean, it seems a leg up is still to Baker Mayfield. I would be surprised at this point if he's not the starter. But you'd also like to be out there and earn it. Now, when I was there in Carolina with my care follow, certainly baker looked at that point like the better quarterback. So maybe that's the way it sort of stays. I don't know when they'll make a final decision, but I would expect I would expect that's going to be the eventual outcome. So because the sense for me is why else do you trade for him if darnold's the guy, you saw him all last year and you've saw him all, mini camp, you saw them all, May and now you're going to, I mean, even though it was truly no skin off their nose. I mean, what is it? A provisional draft choice two drafts from now, right? So the question is, is why wouldn't it be him? Certainly when they're playing Cleveland week one. I mean, my word. Why wouldn't you do that? You know? Yeah. Is that it? Yeah. I think the sense I always got was if you knew darnold was going to be the guy, then you would not give up draft capital. Unlike they, that thing took a while. And I thought it was going to happen during the draft. And I had my tweets ready during day three of the journey. You're sitting up there in the cosmopolitan or up on your terrace. I remember that. Tweets are all ready to rock. I'm good to go. I got everything written just never happened. And so it took forever. So darnold was what they wanted in OTAs. I don't think they make trade. So yeah, I mean, I would say that's probably, I think it's overall understanding the offense. It's the ability to make big plays. Donald makes a lot of mistakes. And I would imagine you probably know this, but there are times that he'll throw something and you're like, how? How does that happen? So I think baker will be more secure and kind of settled with a little more upset. All right, and then last one for you, since you were just mentioned the draft right there, Ian rappaport, now you had the tweets about Mayfield being traded all set and that never happened. And going into that week, it was debo mania, right? It was going to be like, was he going to get traded because he's demanded one and part of his reason why? I heard that story. Maybe from you, right? I mean, he was there, huh? Yeah. So we heard that he was there kind of hanging out. Right. And so I sent one of our producers to go down a case. People do an interview. And he was like, tell you what I say hi, but no. Because I was pretty funny. And so he declined and what was just there hanging out. We were talking about him for a week. Anyway, go ahead. No, so isn't it amazing how that all got taken care of. And it just turned out to be money, I guess. And Lance is the guy there. What are you hearing out of forty-niners camp? Now that it's actually quiet there on that front. Yeah, I mean, it was interesting that we spent all the time talking about role. And I know before managed to downplay that, my understanding is that was pretty real. And the fact that they're going to use him as a receiver while also sprinkling in some carries as they receive after this on that. I think that's a good thing and that helps the deal. I think had he been happy all the way we would have avoided all of this. So there's definitely. He definitely wanted to be traded at some point. So like, I can't pretend that none of that happened. But I do think it'll be sort of in a better place going forward. As far as Trey lands, the reports out of camp have been okay, it doesn't sound like you said the greatest camp, it sounds like you've made a lot of wow plays and had some inaccuracy, so that's probably what it's going to be. I mean, if he's completing near 50% of his passes, but with some really good runs and some big cash plays, I'll be like, okay, that's kind of like what I expect. What you want is just you want them to give you some explosive plays a little more than Jimmy G gave you, even though Jimmy G took them to two conference title games. So it's going to be interesting. He's sort of been up and down, but I'd say at the beginning, at least that's probably to be expected. And he's week one in Chicago. Is he going to have to deal with roquan Smith on the other side of the ball? Do you think? We shall see. That's certainly a fascinating situation. But a lot of different reasons. I know the bears are still like to get a deal done. And roquan in his letter really left it open as far as like, if the owner steps in, we could probably do this. So we'll see if something ends up getting done. I think it's possible, but it would be expensive, but on a player he is. So I think that makes a lot of sense. All right, I know I said the one last one, but you're too good. I got one last one for you. Just give me a couple minutes on this one, Ian rappaport, 'cause everybody's talking about Aaron Rodgers calling out his young receivers. What are you hearing out of Green Bay that's maybe concerning or enough to raise Rogers level of concern to do something he rarely does, which is air his concerns publicly. What do you got for me on that front? Yeah, I mean, there's some times when something will happen in the media and they're kind of like, ah, you know, we're making too much of this like this seems to be a thing, right? Like, Aaron Rodgers does not do anything by accident. He doesn't do anything but he doesn't like slip and just be like, oops, you know, it's like, think about how many years we've spent analyzing his words about his future and what's going to he is a smart guy who says what he says, basically. So I think it needs to be a little better. And now that we know he's sort of on the same page with the front office, what do we read into it? Is this him saying like you need to be better or else? Is this him calling attention to like, let's make sure we're kind of up to stuff. I don't know. But definitely not nothing. And definitely going to keep our eyes on the receivers for the next two and a half weeks. Ian, thanks very much, safe travels. Let's do this again. Greatly appreciated I do hope to see you soon, man. You be well. All right, sounds good, which always enjoy my take. If you go right back at you, that's Ian rappaport at rap sheet here on the program. He doesn't want to talk to a Yankee fan. "Look, how many times have we said the word RPO or the phrase RPO here? And I wanted them to put RPOs into this offense. I feel like a broken record. I've tried to stop saying it because I used to say it so much, right? I mean, really, even with the Shanahan stuff in there, you know, some Shanahan stuff, it's not they don't major in RPOs in San Francisco, but they do it more than the Patriots did, right? And I think now with Trey lands, they'll definitely do it more than the Patriots. So it's not that that scheme is completely, you can't do it at all, right? I think you can do it some. And I'm interested to see if they.

"Not surprised by this. I'm not surprised that he wasn't taking snaps. I'm not surprised he wasn't throwing this to me. Fell like something. We won't see trailers until week three when they set it. They did research read a few things. It seemed like a forty six week injury. The the bone could be healing. But the swelling is still there is painful to throw and or take snaps You know you don't wanna re-injure reiterate this is the forty niners. Made this pick hopefully have a fifteen year quarterback not one for week one week one is a blip on the you know the whole future. This forty niners rob before team for the next fifteen years. So let's hope it. Do we see trae lands on sunday. Maybe who knows. But i wouldn't be surprised if we don't see him play at all on sunday. So trey lands is still. He's not out. But he's not throwing taking snaps. He's still participating in practices some capacity likely running around running the ball things like that. How also look at trae lances does he necessarily need those snaps Right now the guys ready to go. He knows the playbook I think what he needs to learn and grow on is facing. nfl defenses. so i don't know how much throwing the ball against a a casper covered defense or just taking snaps from center He he comes from a pro style system. He's been taking snaps for a wiles. Not something that he necessarily get used to like. Most quarterbacks just simply sit back in shotgun their whole college career. that's not the case for trae lance. Do we see him week one. I'm not sure. I wouldn't be surprised if we see him out there. I don't know how much of this two quarterback system they wanna use like. You said. I think that's the best thing to say. Is they wanna quarterback for the next fifteen years necessarily a quarterback right away week one against the detroit. Lions Based off your opponent. You should be in the green light to just blow out of the water by forty points with jimmy garoppolo so with trae lance. We'll see and also like shanahan's been prolonging this whole process of on not announcing qb one. I'm not announcing qb one. I'm not announcing. Qb one so if he goes out there and says oh. This is a two to three week. Recovery time for trae lance will. What you did was basically announced your. Qb one in that goes against his whole thing that he's been trying to prolong so yeah if he knows. This is gonna be a two to three week process and for call shanahan to say seven days so smart way to work the media and smart way to not tip your hand against your opponent to where they still have to study for trae lance because they don't know if he's gonna be out there or not just like us causing playing forty chess all off season. I don't expect him to stop now for all we know trey could take steps tomorrow and throw the ball right. They practice tomorrow to they practice. Wednesday walk through thursday travel. Friday walk through saturday and then game day. Sunday so For all we know trey could practice tomorrow in full and it won't be a non issue. But i think in this day so right and i think on tuesday would mark day Monday should have been day. Seven tuesday with mark day. So that's a great thing to bring up to. Where maybe it's day. Maybe it's day nine. Maybe you know whatever so yeah could definitely be taken snaps by time. This podcast is obviously posted out on the internet. Today we're talking about price picks. Which is the hot new thing in the world of daily fantasy and to be honest. It's not hard to see why people are getting all the way into this. Let me tell you how it works. You pick anywhere between two and five players and take the over or the under on some specific stat projection for the day. That's it it's just you against the numbers. Get it right and you could win up to ten times what you put down on any entry. And here's the best part prize. Picks has a ton of statistical categories to choose from including yards receptions touchdowns fantasy points and more. You can even create a mixed sport entry. Where you take say the number of points from july and the over entree lance touchdowns which is pretty incredible. Choose from any sport you can think of and create.

"Kenny golladay. Kenny gone in daniel jones. Have i mean kenny. Golladay is just seeing the practice field. Now i think if ken golly has a good season. It's gonna take a while to get started. I think even if you're high on kenny golladay season a massive week. One i think is kind of crane must be spending too much time out there on sucks island because bradbury island is very nice. This time of year and jerry. Judy is going to be hanging out for sixty minutes. I think. I think both numbers are going to be pretty low but i would still have to go bridge ordering just because they've had a whole preseason to work together. Okay i just sneak in. Well one against i to be clear. I don't hate. George kittle but this is crazy. We laid out the case or jared. Goff might rack up a bunch of passing yards. And don't don't confuses with me. Liking jared goff but jared goff and tj hopkinson at plus two forty five especially. Because you know like who who are the lines targets. We don't know hopkinson. You could make a case is kind of. They're most reliable target. He's the guy that probably has one of the best resumes of the of the people out. There it sounds a little bit like you've acquired the land. Mass next sucks island and you are expanding. It's too good of a deal. Sometimes you just gotta get trickiness with this price. But most of these are relatively close to even money golfing. Tj hodkinson a plus two forty five or garoppolo and kit minus two ninety. If i'm the forty niners i come in and i just pound the rock with most pound. The rock a with trae sermon. And maybe get you know. Get trae lance in there. There's i mean trey lands could be involved in in passing. They're they're definitely going to give trailer at some wild looks some like running around stuff. That's going to eat away jimmy. Jeez passing yards. He's never been a big past. Yeah i mean like honestly this price must have something to do with like the expectation of what people are going to bet because there are a couple of these maybe they need to lupus into the process. Sean because the i i just i don't know who's laying to ninety with jimmy g. and kiddle when they're going to run the ball thirty five plus times in that game Man i keep. I'm trying not to give out every one of these. But joe borough you did another one schober jomar chase or kirk cousins and just jefferson. I hold you didn't say the price it would blow people's mind that kirk cousins and justin jefferson. The dog in this matchup even money. Yeah i know i know. The vikings are on the road and again maybe and cook. Has that massive game. It's hard not to like the entire. Vikings offense honestly and jomar chase again rough preseason. Maybe he still ends up being a good prospect. But i joe borough played three snaps and chase his preseason numbers and really pat again thinking of it more like this march has to other wide receivers. That are going to take touches away. Joe mixing meanwhile what do we. What did we miss earth. Smith is out of there we. It's still but again. He's new to camp. Adam dealing is there but feeling could steal some yards. One guy and alvin. I just think on the bengals guarding justin jefferson. The bengals defense is in the show me mode. She'd they're gonna have to show us any other ones like right. I mean we feel like we gave out everyone so we can. we can move on. Yeah there's There's some pretty fun ones. their prize. picks that's right price. Picks we're gonna be talking about them on our dfs episode given out It's daily fantasy simplified. Just give out You know just pick over and under on these player totals and we just basically went through a bunch of players..

"The ball away. Still win for nine hundred. Seventy nine yards rushing. But i don't judge zeke elliott own if he can rochford thousand yours. I think he can do that in their sleep. Fellous i think a bad season for zeke elliott is the hover around right at a thousand yours. I am waiting to see if we start talking about twenty one like we talked about him early in his career at being one of the top guys that can be a catalyst for being a bail cow taking the teams championship. That's one of my story lines. That's the biggest one to me personally. That guy's a one from me personally. I want to throw this in here. Is bill belichick on his redemption tour. I think he's gonna go scorched earth. Seeing tom brady win the super bowl. We had asante samuel on the other day saying that it was all brady i think bell checks. A legacy is on the line to an extent. And that's what. I'm going to be watching more so than anything is how these patriots and mack-san's play all right. We're going to bring multiple supposed to football. But molly one i mean. That's what i'm hyped up. Okay all after a tumultuous twenty twenty season. The forty niners drafted quarterback trae lance third overall at north dakota state. He opted out of the spring football season in play. Just one game last year. Lance and jimmy garoppolo both played well in the preseason lanes had touchdowns including a rushing score and had an eighty. Rtd pass against the chiefs but it begs this question. Which guy will be the starter. Come week one and will they actually rotate during a game. Here's kyle shanahan on the roster moves right. Now i believe so. I don't need announce a quarterback. I don't think i need to announce the starting returner either but i bet you guys can figure it out still no official starter named in san francisco really high hopes for this team. Obviously harry do you think gives them the best chance to win the super bowl. I think that the best chance to win the super bowl. Molly's a no brainer. It is trey lands. And i think it's because what he brings to the game of football that jimmy garoppolo can't right. He's a dual threat. Guy he can do it with his legs we seen in a preseason. The last preseason game when he's running. Ed re zone read and you see all you have all those moving parts of that offense going all kinds of which which ways they wanna go. We see how dynamic that offense can be now trae land and you look at john lynch you looked at cal shanahan. I respect the hell. Out of john lynch i respect to how shanahan as a play caller as a head coach as office coordinator. There's a reason why they traded up number three in the draft draft trae land. If you felt like jimmy garoppolo was your got to win you a super bowl and i don't think you would have went up to number three. He wouldn't have traded up to number three. Go get a guy. Like trae length. I think trae lance is the trans guy that's going to propel them hit them over the hump to actually win the super bowl and bring another one to the city of san francisco. Yeah i think we're all forgetting. San francisco was in the super bowl two years ago and they haven't gotten worse like i haven't gotten worse all where last year where they were injured right and they both the now is healthy. George kiddo now is healthy. Jimmy g. now is healthy. Talk about all the weapons offensively and defensively air armstead as well so this team literally just did two years ago and now all of a sudden. There's a young flashy superstar quarterback that's going to take them over the hump. Now they're healthy. They can do it again. And so for me. It's not a no brainer. It's a full complete brainer It is it's gotta be jimmy garoppolo. He did it just three hundred or hundred six hundred. How many days ago. Not long ago. It'd be different for me though. Sam if it wasn't tau shanahan and john lynch played in this league for a long time the fact that they traded up knowing that they just went to a super bowl right. No they just did that. With jimmy garoppolo but jimmy. Garoppolo couldn't make that bro to win the game. Though he couldn't have he couldn't make that throat. But i'm telling you trade lance give them the best opportunity to improvise and do things. And i'm not worried about them all offensively. They have one of the best. Play callers in the game right now. A cow shanahan. So i know. I know he's gonna protect tree lance because he does have a little bit more he needs to learn but i think cow shanahan can protect him and get him through enough games to to prepare them down the season so they actually have a chance to compete for a super bowl. Yeah what part of the reason that you go on trade up early in the draft one could be because your other quarterback had some injury issues. That's the reason he's a safety. Val safety blanket and people haven't mentioned that enough but he's not the first of all you don't get the number you don't trade up to number three to draft god-like tree lance to be a safety. No you're right but we don't do that but jimmy. Graham has missed games throughout his career. Dating all the way back to jimmy garoppolo. Sorry excuse me. Dating all the way back to when he was with the patriot. And when you have a super bowl ready team. Like san francisco is a super blessed with. That's one of those four or five teams that talk about. That could actually make it every year. You have a super bowl ready team. You cannot risk injury at the most vital position which is quarterback. So you trade up you look at the landscape. You see. We need to do if your quarterback side healthy all of a sudden you got another guy who can be healthy. You got two guys who can do it. We saw the last game. But if you wanna talk about like who can do who can take him to the super bowl. Jimmy g. literally just did it. So maybe that one zero you talked about. Maybe that one zero changes everything but another year to the system. More weapons offensively defensively. There's no question that jimmy g. can do it. There are questions which lance. But you are right. Jimmy took him to the super bowl. You draft land so you can win the super bowl. There's the biggest difference right. Oh drop the mic. Let's go that wilson continuing to get praised. The latest from former cowboy's quarterback and analysts extraordinaire. Tony romo said this. i think. Zack wilson is going to be in the discussion. As one of the top three to five quarterbacks in the league very quickly within the next couple of years i think you're going to see him rise. I think he's unbelievable. He's stealing is so high. It's rare for me to say that someone has the ability to get in the stratosphere mahomes. But i think this kid actually has that ability. I need to marinate on that. And i need to repeat it one more time the stratosphere we're talking shred homes tony all now. That's unfold take. I'll give it to you mr romo. Is you had an interesting thought about zack. Wilson to Tell me what you think of him. I don't see mahomes. I think is once in a generation type perform but in two years. He'll be as good as josh allen. Last josh allen we saw last year i firmly believe that and it's not about playing in the preseason is not about all the circumstances this dude has the poise. I looked for traits the things that we talk about with these news coming out of college. Does it translate when you watch that. Wilson point the arm and the live ability. And how how he looks just from the pocket and if you watch football it looks a lot like air rodgers. It looks a lot like that. I'm not talking about like oh you could see a few things that he does that. Similar to a lot of wilson. This preseason looks a lot like eh rogers and went and the reason. Why bring up josh allen this because obviously those guys being in the same division and you love the fact that you go have this competitive nature going between quarterbacks who i think are going into top five top ten guys here in the near future josh allen. Already being one of those guys based off what he did last year jones also in that division two is in the division. But when i watch zach wilson this off season and.

"Twenty three twenty five eleven eleven twenty and then going into the beginning of twenty twenty season twenty five and nineteen and then he got hurt you know and he did come back and have another fifteen point game later on in the season but didn't much else after that when he's healthy he's a very good fantasy running back. It's just. He did score those eight rushing touchdowns in twenty. Nineteen i just. I don't think i see that repeating. So that's what worries me like. I said like jerry. Judy is going around him. Devante smith is going around him. I i can't imagine taking where he most are over those guys. I'm much more of a fantasy player. That goes running back heavy early. Get me a couple of league guys. Because there's still those duties involved a smith late who i really like. So i'm more looking at wide receivers in that. Not range yeah. I agree the trouble with most is his touchdowns are going to have to come from outside the red zone and the majority of touchdowns in football are scored inside the twenty yard line. So most are you know he's going to have a few 'cause he can break those big plays but i think i agree with you once the niners get down there. It's going to be more about the bigger back and trae sermon or trey lands or kiddle or whoever. But it's it's a tall. Ask for most to go over eight touchdowns on the ground. I would agree with that. We always like your fantasy questions. You can always hit us up. I'm at stats on fire. Michelle is at ball blast. Amman twitter we will take them. We will happily answer them. We're gonna go to break and when we come back. I wanna talk to you about jalen hurd because you are. The only niners nation hosts that agrees with me so that makes me happy that i'm not totally crazy. We're gonna talk about jalen hurd and then we're gonna talk about something that kyle shanahan said on k. Mbr this morning about the defense for week one back here on the gold diggers. Podcast gonna talk a little jalen hurd because the fifty three man roster was finalized. This week jalen hurd is on it. I have been stunned by that. I think it's ridiculous. That kyle shanahan is continuing to wait for this guy to produce now in year three and everybody else seems to think. I'm crazy that it's not that big a deal and they're super hopeful that jalen hurd is gonna turn into something. I think he's going to be what he always was. Michelle which is basically a pumpkin. Yeah i mean how many balls can he draw or the team just like okay. We're gonna keep putting you out there like he did not deserve that roster spot i did not think like he should not have made that team and then even the one run that gave him. That was nothing special. And i understand. He's us getting back on the field. Maybe it'll take some time but that's also an issue right like he's just getting back on the field because he can't stay healthy. I didn't even like. I'm coming out of school really like i don't really get the the love for jalen hurd i. I'm rooting for the kid. Like i hope he has a nice career in. It's not over. But i i'm just personally shocked. You made the team. And i don't think he should see the field during games because he is a liability with his hands. And i just don't think he's special enough to be out there and he didn't even know where to line up on one. Play michelle literally the other. Two wide receivers were motioning. And then i think one of them like actually grabbed him and pulled him. Off the line of scrimmage because if he had stayed there would have been an illegal formation. Like i just don't get it and here's my worry. Kyle clearly loves him. He's unrest or because kyle shanahan likes him. My worry is that kyle's going to wanna prove everybody right right like hey i was right about this guy. I know what i'm talking about. And he's going to keep him on the team and not only keep them on the team but keep giving him targets and opportunities and featuring him. And i think he's just not going to produce it. I don't get it. And i'm worried that this is going to become a thing when it shouldn't really be thing. Yeah he averaged six point three yards per reception. I mean it was only four receptions so it's the tiniest sample size but he had that wide open pass now trae lands. Put it a little low. But you still gotta catch. I mean you you have to catch those falls like a quarterback isn't always going to be perfect like we can hate on trance all we want. But you also have to have some wide receivers that can adjust a little bit. And the fact that. I mean the defenders were at least three yards from him. Catch the ball and you gained fifteen yards or get it easy for us down. It's just like you can't have that liability on the field. So if they're you know brennan is already dealing with a hamstring injury. If miss week one which pushes everyone up the lid you know the roster there the depth chart and he gets on the field like. I just think that's really bad. News for the forty niners. I actually had forgotten about the drop. You're right now. I remember it was right over the middle. And i actually think that i think it was lance that through it. Put it low kind of intentionally to protect her little bit if you could pick where the ball would be. That was a pretty good spot. Because he was he would have gotten down to catch the ball and then he would have been safer from the guys that were going to crunch and tackle them but of course he dropped that one. There was another one with heard coming across the field where lance made a really nice throw and klang again right off his hands like i hope. I'm wrong obviously. I want all the you couldn't catch it. High catch low and boomer finally catchable. I mean the one. He put high because receivers tall like delivered as tall. So you put it where you needed to now. I do think if you have a starting corner out there. Who has some hops at all. That guy to the defender could jump one jaffa ground. It looked like that's probably intercepted that travis benjamin Deep pass if the defender just turns his head that's the easiest interception so these are things that were me about trae lands but at the.

Say good morning to our great radio affiliates around the country numbering nearly 400 cities. Well. The Saints haven't named their starting quarterback yet, but Jamis Winston looked great last night against Jacksonville Boy. It's amazing will go. That's preseason. Don't overreact. And then it's a preseason game and then we overreact. Jamis Winston. He looked great. Last night, Taysom Hill looked inconsistent. The Saints they've found the successor to Drew Brees. Slow down. It was Jacksonville against the Saints. Here's the problem. We don't slow down. There's no stop sign here. And if there is, we glide through the stop, son. Jamis Winston can look good. He has looked good. He can look bad. He's looked bad. I like Jamous Winston was Sean Payton. He does have a great arm. He has questionable throws. He's going to have questionable throws. They plagued him in Tampa. He played for Bruce Arians, and they wanted to have an offense that you're not going to risk it. Then there's no biscuit. Okay, You're kind of asking for turnovers there. Make something happen Well. Fans in New Orleans. I guess you have reason to be excited, maybe relieved. How about that? Because there's still a lot of unknown in the post Drew Brees era because how do you replace one of the more productive quarterbacks in NFL history? James is only 27, so he has a chance to be more than just a bridge quarterback. He does have talent. And maybe New Orleans is the place that he can put it all together. I'm not all in on Jamie's. I did tell you that I thought he was going to be the starting quarterback this year. I'm just not Anywhere near all in on Taysom Hill. I am is a football player, but not as a quarterback because he is inconsistent, and I do like him being in there as a tight end a return man running back wide receiver. Whatever it is. Because I do think he serves a purpose here, plus factor this in. I believe he is the fourth highest paid player on that team. He's gonna play. It's just not your starting quarterback in my opinion. But let the overreacting begin or continue. Jamis Winston will keep both teams in the game. But if you have Sean Payton and he can simplify the offense there and and try, it's hard to tell somebody. To not be as aggressive as they were in high school in college, and when they got to the NFL. He does make some throws where you go. Okay? He can do it. That's not that's not a ringing endorsement. Okay? He can do it. And he threw 30 touchdowns. Yeah, and he threw 30 interceptions. Yeah, I have to say this. I mean his completion percentage. If you factor in interceptions, it's probably an NFL high. But he give us and he take it the way and that's really going to be the key for the New Orleans Saints, and this has to drive Sean Payton crazy because he would love to have Taysom Hill is his starting quarterback, in my opinion. You know you You follow that Trey Lance in San Francisco, Lamar Jackson in Baltimore. Get that mobile quarterback, that guy who can do a lot of different things. But could I say to take some hill, you may have to throw 35 to 40 times in the game. He's not consistent enough. And normally in college where everybody is completing 65 to 70% of their passes. Take some Hill was not that kind of quarterback at BYU. He was a great athlete playing quarterback. Jamis. Winston has a chance to be a very good quarterback. But that doesn't mean he will because there's too much Brett Farve in him, and he's not good enough to be a Brett Farve like quarterback. He wants to make something happen. He's aggressive. But in the NFL, you've got to be smart. You've got to start there. Be smart, know what you can do when you can do it, And that's why I thought if Sean Payton can help him, then he has a chance. And so far, we've seen that. But this isn't you know, you can't go. Yeah, I've seen enough. I know that. He's the guy. He was still Jacksonville. You played against by the way. My biggest concern with Trevor Lawrence is who is the offensive minded guy? The offensive coordinator, the guy that you go, he'll be the QB whisper. That's my biggest concern with Trevor Lawrence. You know, you got to make something happen here. And that offense does not look good. They don't look like there are real competitive team right now, And I know it is pre season so I can't go Don't overreact here, But then I'm overreacting here. I'm just looking at the warning signs here. Because Mac Jones has Josh McDaniels. Trey lands as Kyle Shanahan like that's really important to have those guys who can help you. I don't. I don't. I mean, I know, you know Justin Fields in Chicago. So now that head coach is going to be good for this quarterback, but maybe he wasn't good for other quarterbacks. And Matt Nagy, even though he's an offensive minded guy. Uh, you know the Jets Zach Wilson, even though they don't have a veteran backup, they do have a great offensive minded Coordinator and, uh, Michael floor. Matt Lafleur's brother with the Packers and is considered a very bright offensive guy like you have to have that. And you have a rookie quarterback going in there, and that's what I wonder about with Urban Meyer. His urban is not that guy. But who is that guy who will help these quarterbacks and last night? You know, Trevor Lawrence, you know, I got the feeling that it felt like there were maybe 12 or 13 players for the Saints defense. Or maybe they were like Nine or 10 offensive players for the Jags because it felt like whenever Trevor he was running for his life here. But you've got to protect your quarterback. Because if you move forward, you can't. You can't do any damage if you're on your back. But you have to protect that quarterback. And you have to make sure you keep somebody else in. If not, he's going to be running for his life, and he's a big target. And you saw last night where he got hit. These are small things. At least it seems like they don't make headlines. But those are things that I worried about watching last night. Jacksonville needs to step up here. If not, it's not going to be a great run. You know for Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence is not going to keep up with these other rookie quarterbacks. But it's the system you're in. That's why when you look at my homes, if Mahomes went to Jacksonville, he would be a curiosity. He'd be a good quarterback, potentially a good quarterback. In Kansas City. You go to a team that's established. You've got an offensive minded head coach. Got a good offensive coordinator. You've got a hall of Famer at tight end You got one of the most dangerous players and Tyreek Hill. And you've got a good offensive line. Check the boxes. That's how you succeed. The later you go, Sometimes, the better It will be for you because you're going to a team that may not need your right away is a good team playoff caliber team. And that's why when you fall, sometimes in the draft, like Mac Jones has a better chance if Mac Jones was in Jacksonville. He probably would not have a chance. In New England with an offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels. And you do have you know maybe the greatest NFL coach of all time so he has a chance to be successful. Instead of running for his life. And that's really important with the development here. Don't build up bad habits, and that's what Jamous did. When he was in Tampa build up bad habits..

"J. Watt. They are far and away behind the other three teams and the arms race. Always Rams, 40, Niners and Seahawks are always poking around. Every big time free agent every big time guy that's on the trade block everyone that all three of those are linked to them and look at what they do with Jamal Adams, bringing Carlos Dunlap in with Seattle, San Francisco. A point of contention with with my clothes myself. Talking unlocked on cardinals is causing him lost 10 games in three or four seasons, and he looked like he looked like as one of the greatest quarterback head coaches we've ever seen, and I don't get it. I understand that. If an injury concerns don't draft injury prone players. You could have passed on Nick. Both of you wanted to. You knew he had injury concerns, and that's not fair. But it's part of the story, right? And Deebo Samuel, same thing in college and, you know Trey lands to me. It could be the Josh Allen of this draft and the interesting part about it. Remember Josh Allen Southwest Conference, didn't make the all conference team and then got drafted top 10. Doesn't make any sense. And look at what's happening, Brian Table, you know, having you know, over his wing or whatever, Um Of Rams are always scary because Sean McVeigh has Cliff Kingsbury's number. Um Cliff Kingsbury is far and away the worst coach in the NRC Western. I really think that's what it comes down to, because if us Sean McMahon culture in hand what roster they'd like to coach there's For the Cardinals. You have to think about it. Because the Cardinals have the talent. They just don't have the leadership. So, yes, climb. They're probably not going to win the division. They're probably I mean, I see them backsliding to, you know, maybe winning seven or eight games this year. To be rude awakening, especially in that division Three. Yeah. Toughest division football. Now give me your you talk about McVeigh a little bit, But give me give me your your thoughts on this, Stafford. Move. I mean, I from afar. I love the move. I love the upgrade. I do believe it's a genuine upgrade from Jared Goff. And it was very clear. It was almost clear right almost after the Bills game that there was something amiss there in L. A between McVeigh and golf, and it was just it looked like it was a relationship that was doomed for what we saw, but it would almost felt like there was no Logical way for it to happen, especially with the salary cap situation there. And, of course l A in how they do things. They figured out a way to do it. How does uh, How much more legitimate in your eyes? Is that team now with Matthew Stafford opposed to to Jared Goff? I think you know it's it's about the same you can always use. The old adage of Matthew Stafford has thrown important passages life. I mean, that's the whole thing with the bright lights of Alisher. I don't think that's fair to match the effort. Jared Dallas Wings were clipped before he even started. I mean, he was a Marian hat. Sean McVey wouldn't let him think for himself. He wouldn't let him do anything. He's like. Oh, you're 64 to 30 and you have a good arm. Cool. I can work with that. Let me jump in your body and play quarterback for you. Max average an adult. And Matt Stafford. You know, he's a good leader. You can go back to the the tape from his rookie year that went viral. We pretty much separated his shoulder and threw a touchdown pass. And they want a game like that was That's it. That's what people remember about that staffer because regardless of how a few games they wanted, how injured he's been, he's always been respected in the locker room has always been a leader. He's always been that guy and they need stability as much as they can for the rooms because you talk about shelf life. Our shelf life is about 15 minutes, and then everything is going to get blown up because Sean McVeigh if they don't win this year, if they don't make a deep run in the playoffs, people are finally going to start. Oh, maybe not the next Bill Belichick. Maybe he does have issues with his game and with this baby is not the smartest guy in the room because he sounds like John for you know, it's just so many things could change. But Stafford will give him stability from the quarterback position, which he hasn't had yet. We'll see if he's a little bit more hands off. I think he's a control freak. I don't think he's going to let staff or do whatever he wants. Yeah. And I say this too, is this is Hesitate because I recognize he he played with maybe the best ride receiver to ever play but just in terms of supporting cast, not one player, but the cast around him. It feels like with McVeigh, plus the experience that Matthew Stafford has had in the league. Combine that with guys that like Cooper Cop and Roberts, who just they get open. Do you believe that This is like the best overall supporting cast that he's had? And I include McVeigh in there, too? For sure I don't. I don't think there's a question and also you look at the baby of running backs They have even if Cam makers because he hasn't had a running back Reggie Bush for like, 10 minutes. I mean, he had LeGarrette blunt. I mean, they didn't have much. I mean, that's Scarborough Kit Bo Scarbrough from Alabama Moonlight as a fantasy darling for a couple weeks a couple years ago, like they even at jacket was supposed to be a mirror. Abdullah, who never got in the field, even if Cam Acres doesn't pop, even if the last half of last season will run into this wall, where people actually watch for him a game plan form..

"Brother, man. I'm feeling great doing great. Happy trash Tuesday to you, boys and girls. One question one question Only. How do you feel? I feel good and I'm doing well, well, that's all that really matters. We come to you live from the rocket mortgage studios when you want the ability to adjust your loan options in real time rocket can Thanks so much for being with us today. We are happy to be here and thankfully, you decided to join as well because this hour, Trey Lance is going to join us here on the show. Sports Illustrated. Tagged the North Dakota state quarterback. As The most extraordinary prospect. In the most peculiar draft. Trey Lands played one football game last year. One DFCS or North Dakota State plays Was slated to play in the spring. Has played this spring instead of last fall. Trey. Lance didn't wanna wait. Until the spring when he had NFL visions on his mind. So Lance played one game, a showcase game last fall against Central Arkansas. The North Dakota state scheduled organized basically as a pro day for him as a scouting day for him. Didn't play all that well, but nonetheless, Trey Lance is still considered one of the elite prospects in this draft, but with one game played last fall. So only one game played in the last 18 months. Will he be the third pick? Overall, The Niners will he drop into the teens were? Perhaps the Patriots could grab him. Could the Broncos draft him? Could the Falcons draft him? There's a lot of questions will talk to Trey lands about them all coming up on the show in 20 minutes from now, so stick around. You are lucky to be here this morning on the show in this final hour of the program, trade lamps is going to join us in 20 minutes. It's also part of our Whole question today, Trey Lance's potential and where you were draft him. Would you make him the third quarterback taken? Because everybody knows that Trevor Laurence could be the number one pick, And most everybody assumed that Zach Wilson is gonna be the number two pick of the New York Jets. Should the Niners make Trey lands the third quarterback selected this year on Thursday night. Also the trash Tuesday. Let us know you're trash. Is it 855 to 1 to four, CBS? 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. Green Bay last year. Drafted. A young quarterback. Hypothetically be Aaron Rodgers. Replacement. You don't trade up on the first round and select Jordan love Without the expectation that love is going to be the successor at the quarterback position. Nobody drafts a guy in the first round and assumes well, maybe he'll never play for us. GM Brian Good against Was asked about Aaron Rodgers and Jordan Love of the quarterback position yesterday. He said. I'm not going to get into contract specifics, but Erin's our guy. He's going to be our quarterback for the foreseeable future. We're excited about the things we're gonna try to accomplish here over the next couple years. We certainly think that with the contract that you're kind of talking about, it's something that will work through. Rodgers deal does not include any guaranteed money after this upcoming season, 2021 There's a cap it of nearly $40 million in 2022 the number of falls to $28 million in 2023, at which point that Aaron Rodgers will be turning 40 in December of that year. So if you're looking for a natural break point here 2021. He's going to be the quarterback of the Packers. 2022 He probably should. Even though there's no guaranteed money. Because there's a $40 million cap it but Look, if they're ready for Jordan love and somebody else is willing to take on that cap. It There should be somebody the NFL that goes, yes. We will help you make this financially work. But if you're looking for a more likely scenario, it is after the next two seasons, 21 22 that in 2023, the Packers and Roger's part ways I think when you hear the GM of the Packers Say, quote Erin's Our guy. And he's gonna be our quarterback for the foreseeable future. It doesn't tell you anything. About Aaron Rodgers Maurer than a year from now. Think all foreseeable future tells you is this season? Really think that's the only guarantee here. This season. Aaron Rodgers is a Packer. Because when you look at Jordan love as a first round pick Right Sitting year number one. Not a problem. Mahomes did it. Play of other quarterbacks do it. We will see other quarterbacks likely do it this year who has ever selected by the Niners will likely do it. Sitting for two years. Okay? But now the clock is ticking that you'd like to know what you have after two years because After three seasons. You've got to decide whether you want to re APPA. After three seasons. You've got to decide where are we? Are we pleased? Are we satisfied? If we are like two Shawn Watson, you get paid like Patrick Mahomes. You get paid. Or do we go into your number four and say we'll take a wait and see approach like a Mitchell Travis Key. Ultimately, the Bears were not interested in Mitchell Travis Key. If you don't really know what you have after two years, you have to know after three years because you have to make a financial decision on it. So I think that this year it's guaranteed no matter what the Packers are obviously preparing for Rogers playing.

"Coverage begins on ESPN and ESPN radio and boy What an exciting draft. This is going to be, especially as it pertains to the top 10 picks and Amber. We know a couple of things from free agency. Sam Darnell's, of course, is now a Carolina Panther and I want to start by just mentioning this at the top because I think it could have ramifications for those behind the Panthers. They're currently slated to pick in the first round at number eight overall. Now general managers got Fitterer said yesterday that the team won't decide on Donald's fifth year option for the 2022 season until after the 2021 NFL draft. Now I say that because That puts in just a little shadow of a doubt of okay if they're gonna wait to pick up his option or not, which is which is fair. A lot of people. You don't have to decide until the beginning of May. If you're gonna pick up Ah, players option or not. Just in the back of your mind makes you wonder. Is there any possibility the Panthers could actually select a QB? We We've talked about this draft class. How talented these guys are. Surely not all of them are gonna be phenomenal. Long term NFL quarterback. Somebody's going to be a bust. But I'm not saying the Panthers. You're going to take a quarterback. I don't think that's necessary at this point after what they've given up to get Sam Donald there, but it's just raised some eyebrows of is that a possibility that the Panthers would consider it. If that's the case. It makes number seven, which currently is held by the Detroit lines that much more of a coveted pick. Which leads me to my question. If you circle the Detroit's pick right now, is that what the New England Patriots are eyeing? And are they going to call the Lions and say, Hey, We want to move up. You guys need to stockpile picks. Let us come up and get a quarterback. What say you? Well, first of all, I don't think you make the trade that the Panthers made even though I understand they bought low on Donald. But you don't make that trade. If you're then going to draft a quarterback, I don't see how that makes any sense. I think what you do is you don't pick up his option until after the draft, cause you're hoping That teams like maybe the New England Patriots get fearful that you are considering Ah, quarterback, And so maybe they would even try to make you an offer And obviously them applying. The strategy does probably work out well for the Lions in terms of fielding offers as well, However, we're talking Patriots here, Katie. I mean the Patriots in the Bill Belichick. Error. They've done 14 trades I believe spent a lot of have involved moving up and down in the first round, however. None of them have seen Bill Belichick move up into the top 10. In fact, Patris haven't traded up into the top 10 since 1984. I believe it is. So that's not something that the New England Patriots typically Diogo. I don't know what the Patriots are going to do in this draft. I think of the Patriots are interested in a quarterback, though there are quarterbacks that they could take. Where they're currently slated at 15. I mean, I understand that we're always talking about the big what, four or five quarterbacks if you want to add Mack Jones to that list, but we mentioned it earlier, and I mentioned it all affair. Kyle Trask. He's somebody who allegedly the Patriots have been searing in on and spending some time. We know that they got one of the greatest quarterbacks of all time. Certainly not in the first round on your music around. Not even the third. So maybe Bill thinks that he can get some of that magic back. Where? Yeah, He's not gonna wait until the fifth round of the draft kind of thing. But maybe he could take a Kyle Trask at 15th. Or maybe a Mack Jones falls to him there and he can still take a quarterback. I don't see the New England Patriots trading up with the lines or the Panthers, or, frankly, anybody slated that high in the draft. To draft a quarterback. I just don't feel like that The Patriots are going to make that move. I don't know if I have a really good reason for it other than the Patriots don't do that. But the majors will do that, Katie, they don't I think the only way they do that is, say somebody in the top four of the quarterbacks false Isn't selected, say Justin Fields is still on the board when the Detroit Lions are on the clock. That's when I could see them picking up the phone. I don't know if they pick up the phone if we've seen Trevor Lawrence, Zack Wilson, Trey lands and Justin Fields all come off the board. Would they make that move for Mack Jones? I have a hard time seeing it, but it's a Justin Fields is still on the board. I could see them picking up the phone and doing something that they rarely Dios. Here's Mike Tannenbaum, ESPN NFL Front office insider on what the Patriots should do if they're willing to move up. It's the Patriots, the Patriots of the Patriots. How can you go through an off season like they've done where they've greatly improve their team been uncharacteristically aggressive, made massive improvements as they get within shouting distance of Ah! First round pick to get up to let's say eight to go, and my suggestion today was go from 15, a for next year's one. Carolina has CME Donald. They gave up a two or four next year for Donald. They'd love to sit. There were two ones. And if you're New England, let him sit behind. You know, Justin Fields understood behind can do for a year. Now, If your new England you've got your much better team this year, hopefully an improved cam Newton and most importantly now you have your core back.

"Phone lines right now and be joined by our next guest. His name is Frank Schwab. He covers the NFL for Yahoo! Sports. Frank. How's it going tonight? Hey, good. How are you doing? Good before we get to the Super Bowl. There's a lot of news right now Happening in the NFL. That is unrelated to the Super Bowl. What do you make of the last week regarding the Houston Texans? Yeah. Or the last month of the last year of the last three years, like just a horrible, horrible organization toe to screw this up, And, you know, I was covering the Broncos when the old McDaniels Jay Cutler thing went down, and there's just so many similarities of just How could you? How could it get this bad and You know, I get it. Shot on is unhappy. I get why, but I also don't really I don't Understand what his leverages the Houston Texans just say. You know what the Shawn We're just We're not gonna tell you not gonna happen Where we excited this contract you can either Retire at age 26 believe nine figures on the table or you can play for us. I don't know what choice he really has. I I mean, I I want I want to show on the end up with a better franchise of the team that can actually help him. It gets you get something out of his career, But I don't think Houston's that team right now, but Also from the Houston Texans. I'm not going to be the team that traded to Shawn Watson. Just not that I just can't stomach that now, if you look at the Dolphins come with No, we'll give you a third. Pick two on I am this pack. Is that package? Okay, I get that. What? To think that they would even entertain the thought of trading. That guy for anything less than absolute peak value. It would just be crazy to me. I don't I don't know. I still to this moment, maybe being ignorant by I still think the front Watson. Place for the using factions and 2021, but It just got so out of control that it wouldn't be a comfortable situation if he is still there. What was you doing to be peak value for the Shawn Watson? Because I'm looking at teams that right now have a realistic package to go get him. Miami has a realistic package. But they only have that because of the trays they've made with the Houston Texans. The Jets to me make a lot of sense. Carolina also makes a lot of sense to me. But in terms of draft pick compensation, I don't really see a lot of other teams out there that Can put together that package. You're talking about that. Absolutely correct. I mean, some of these seems to get You know, Rumored with the with the Shawn. It's like, well, you might want him, but we're gonna give the Patriots what the Patriots gonna give up for the Shawn Watson. I can't even like why. Why would you use it like If they get the front lots and they're not gonna draft in the top half of the first round very long. So the basic training him for a bunch of pictures in the twenties. You know, I mean the team like that, So I think the What I have to get if I'm Houston tax ins. Have to get something that gives me a path to a new quarterback, and that means the second or third pick to whatever it is. I need to go to my fan base and say No, we traded too strong, but we have Justin Fields. And it can't be you. I just don't know how you look at your fans in the eye and say We just tried to Shawn Watson. And we're gonna have chase Daniel playing quarterback this year. Yeah, I just don't know how that happens. Like I just you need to have something to bring to the table to get her fan base. Excited again, like they might not be thrilled that the Shawn Watson is gone. But you certainly can't have them have some stopgap troll Flaco type of starter. I get just this is not gonna work that way. So I think it starts there. I think you need to have Um, you know, either a pick or a player, something that gives you a quarterback and then something on top of that. I mean, look, if it Jamal Adams was worth two first round picks, I think they're from Watson's work equivalent before I think, and I don't even think that that's That's out of I pay it, too like I think he's special. I think he is whole fame talent. I think he's just a great great player. Great in the community. Great for your franchise. You checked every single box you want. I don't think there's really a price all too high that I pay for the Shawn Watson in his prime here, I like what you said. When it comes to path to finding a quarterback, and that's why it kind of goes with. Well, I know what I was just saying about the package. Where if I'm Houston if you don't have a top 10 pick in this year's NFL draft, Where I can, at least a sure that have the ability to take a quarterback like I'm only trading to Shawn wants, And if I'm in the situation like you are like, I really like Trey lands, for example, so I need the draft pick to go out there and go get Trey lands because then you'll just find yourself in the situation of constantly chasing your tail, and that's sort of the scenario that they find themselves in. They don't only have a quarterback problem right now. To me. They have a coaching problem now. I don't know David Kelly. I'm sure I talked to him at some point here in Kansas City when he was the wide receivers coach and I just don't really remember it. So I don't have anything negative to say about the man. But nobody in the NFL was going to hire David Cully to be their NFL head coach. Aside from Houston, and the fact that they fired their coach on October 5th they then were the last team to hire a head coach, and they hired somebody that nobody else wants to hire. You can't mess things up more than Houston's messed it up. No, you can't. And I mean, even to the point of like, you know, I was going through, and I did this a couple post this week, ranking the quarterback to Avi Tom Brady quarterback to those. You know Brady's beat in the playoffs, and I got that. Rock cost Wyler and I was like I forgot that the Houston Texans were the team Bill O'Brien was the team to give him that crazy contract like I mean, the text is made so many bad moves over the past few years that you just kind of forget about the run of the mill. Bad moves they made when you know they're off trading the third pick for Laramie Tunsil and not realizing that he had a lever. She didn't the highest contract ever for another in the line and stuff like that. It's just a bad franchise right now. I don't want to, and I don't want to be negative about it. Cully, I think You know, I have no idea. Maybe he's an expert Syrians. He could be fantastic, but the fact is his oldest coach ever to get his first time shot. This is the team. This guy? Obviously rebuilding. Hey, might be a great coach. I don't know. But all the guys out there you could have hired. I just wonder if a lot of guys were just like I don't want this Houston job. I don't really This isn't the job for me. I know it's one of 32. But That that's not really the the ownerships. Situation's bad old Jack Easterby. Situation is really, really curious of best and probably toxic it just why would anybody want to go to their franchise player?.
