"Be here to begin our at least an 18 week run. At kind of around the three locations. Very excited. Jacket H. M s a very cool place to get an excellent patio outside and a lot of room inside a ton of TV. These Adeline bar that is a killer bar over there. So thanks to long next for having us and we're excited about what is ahead. All this is presented. By your Cincinnati northern Kentucky Honda dealers and it has brought to you in part by Hawksworth Blood Centers. Hawksworth donors save lives. Who will you save? I'm lions McAllister. He is Rocky boy. When we laid out some of the things we are optimistic about. I'm excited about what about rock Some of the things we are a bit may be concerned about or reserving judgment till we see further evidence to relieve any building angst we might have. Okay, so you might have heard this team has had an issue with the offensive line in the last. Really? Yeah. Rumors. 56 years. Yeah. So I feel fairly comfortable with the frontline guys, right? I think, you know. Add and Riley Reef. Is an upgrade. I think Joan Williams will play better in the second year. Trey Hopkins. I think we know what he can do. But depth. Lance where is the death on this offensive line? You look at Isaiah Prince who's a backup tackle. Two years of experience. Deontay Smith, Backup guard rookie Trey Hill, Rookie Jackson Carmen rookie Fred Johnson. Two years of experience, so Inevitably, once the last time any often in the offensive line in the NFL went an entire now 17 games without an injury or 10, right. So what happens when Deontay Smith or Isaiah Printers. You know, some of these guys that don't have a ton of experience have to come in. That's a huge question. In my opinion, no doubt I was talking with Jay Morrison from the athletic last night about that very issue, and he said they they like the young guys the rookies, but It's one thing to like it. It's going to ask him to step in right away, says if it's later in the season if an injury happens, you know week 10 11 12 when they've got some reps under their belt, and there, they get their feet under them. That's one thing. If something goes haywire with somebody early, this might be. I mean those names. You just reeled off for the twos and the lack of experience. It might be the least experienced backup set of offensive lineman in the NFL and three rookies. It's gotta be. It's gotta be. So that is a major issue as far as I'm concerned, and we shall see what about you? Well, let me let me finish off an offensive line because Jackson Carmen to me. He's going to be the guy who we watched through the prison mob what they opted to do to getting trading down. We knew all the names, whether it's Kevin Jenkins and granted. He's out now, maybe for the season with an injury. But there was the Liam Eichenberger your guy at Notre Dame. There was Walker Little Sam, cause me a whole bunch of offensive linemen and the Bengals it at 38 opted to get out of that down to 46 that opened themselves up for Are you sure you know what you're doing? I know they got two extra picks, and Tyler Shelvin and Deontay Smith. You hope for them in the future, But maybe you took a you took a roll of the dice on somebody who was a tackle. You're now asking to play guard and somebody was coming off back surgery on a team that just screamed out in need of an offense. Offensive line help! They have exposed themselves a little bit here. They better have hit on Jackson Coroner have nailed that. And let's be honest. The early returns are not good October himself who has never wanted to throw anybody in the bus, said Look, the guy came in kind of out of shape, and you know that sort of thing would look, it's tough enough transition from tackle to guard right for a rookie, but it's even tougher when you come in. And maybe you're a little bit out of shape and you're not don't look quite as dedicated. So that's you're right. That is a decision that's going to be looked at, like every week for the next three or four years. No doubt about it. I'll give you another one. That is, I'm kind of holding back on it. It's a slight concern until it's removed. And that's Jamaar Chase. And now there's a whole bunch of silly stuff going on a pro football talk is Is trying to take his comments out of context to say he can't catch the ball because the college football's are smaller and there's no stripes on the end of the NFL footballs. It's not what to believe there. I just know this. He's clearly experiencing drops to this point, and if you're wide receiver, the key element is holding on to the football and I just hope it's something that's not more up here now boarding to my head. That kind of grows with more evidence presented in week one if he drops another one. Ideally, you'd like him to make a big play on the opening drive of the game, and everybody goes who, man? That's the guy we drafted. But right now there's no you can't just explain away and say, Don't worry about it because it's been the story of the entire camp. He keeps dropping the football. It would be one thing. Look, sometimes guys have a game where they just can't catch the ball. But it's been oh, th has been camped. It's been scrimmages. It's been in the preseason games, so certainly an issue and it's certainly in his head. I mean, the guys tried a million footballs in his life. The only thing that's different right now is Is the fact that maybe inside his head and he's thinking about it, and that's a hard thing sometimes to overcome. Tell me how significant this is, and I'm not presenting it as an excuse, but we know he didn't play last season. Right, so he's shaking off that rust. Plus, he's trying to get up to speed at a speed he's never experienced before, if he were coming back to get up to college speed to be one thing. He's coming back after a year in trying to ramp up to the NFL game. At the speed of that game. There's got to be something to that adjustment of having played at one speed you as a rookie, probably said who this game's fast right? Well, it is and I always uses example by the only way to get good at something in life is to do it and to continually do it, not repetition, while And then take time off and do it again again, You know not to blow smoke up you but you are great at radio because you do it over and over and over. I don't know about you. But if I take a week of vacation off the first day I come back on radio, and I'm like God, you're a little bit out of whack right? So he takes a whole year off of football. So now he's trying to make up for that. Now he's inside his own head, and he's got everybody down him and all that sort of thing. So The only way this gets resolved is what you just said a big moment in the game, and that's where you would love to see. Joe Burrow have confidence in him on a big third and seven, right, right. In the third quarter, something like that, and boom, He constantly goes to Jamaar Chase. He catches it, and then that can be eliminated. Like just like that, Yes, but if it keeps going, it makes it harder and harder to come back from in my experience. Can I give you another one? Another concern and this is more coaching staff related. I was looking at the game notes today. This team has got to be able to figure out a way to finish off games and win close games. Let me give you some numbers Rock. You know, I'm a numbers guy. Yeah. In Zach Taylor's time here in games decided by three points or fewer. This team is 06 and one In games designed by three or fewer 06 and one in games decided by seven points or fewer. Zach Taylor's Bengals are 1 12 and one when they've led at the half 12 Times. They've only won four of those when they've led after three quarters 11 times. They don't want 15 of them Rock. I'm making the case right now, and that's coaching. You can argue, but guys got to make place. You've got to put you guys in position to make plays and this team's got to win close games and they got to finish off games or they're not going. Take the next step They have to take. What's the number? One thing everyone had against Marvin Lewis. The adjustments right? In game halftime in between drives, although everything and those numbers kind of indicate the same thing going on here, right that this is a chess match is going back and forth come into the game and you have your game plan. And guess what? First snap of the game. You may say we're going to throw this out because it's not working or we come out in the third quarter. We think they're going to do this, but they do that. It's just a constant. How quickly can you Can you adjust from that? And this appears to be from those numbers of team. That's not doing that well, and there's winnable games there. Three point yes, and and I don't have the statin front. But I've seen one of Alabama, Alabama, Alabama, but it's like when they have a lead at halftime..

"But I think overall the process of moving down the second round, getting more pigs and still being able to pick up contribute. You're in Carmen later down the line. I do like that process. I think that's kind of a solid approach. All right. So you mentioned there's still some options out there in free agency. I don't know with regards to cap how they deal with that, But I mean, you do have the Bears made a move this week They drafted Kevin Jenkins. So they let their veteran tackle go. You do have as you mentioned trade. Turner's still out there. Depending on health. Eric Fisher, Mitchell Swartz, both with different injuries, but both part of that terrific Kansas City Chiefs offensive line and its heyday. I'm just I'm just wondering. Of all the of all the the lineman that are out there. Trade Turner. You mentioned the Chargers letting him go. Hoo hoo hoo! Besides, Turner would be intriguing. Do you think to the Bangles that could get in? That line rotation either inside or outside. Don't. I'm not sure if they're going to go after attack on this point, I think they're pretty said went with Rice and Williams. I think if they had anybody will be someone who could play on the interior. You know, tree happens is still coming off a pretty serious injury and whether he's going to be ready for for week. One or not, it's a little uncertain. The price is still on the roster, but I don't know if you can trust him to start a file conditions there. I really thought the Bangles would find someone in the draft a little earlier, who was capable of playing center. I mean, they took Trey Hill, but he was 1/6 round pick. I don't think you're gonna feel that confident about putting him out there in the middle of the line and calling protections and stuff like that one guy in the free agent market, so I believe that things have been linked to his Nikki stand. He played for the ST the past couple of years. She could play both guard positions X Place center. I think that's one area where You might just want a little bit of protection in case Hawkins isn't available in case he in case you re injures himself. I think that might be a stop. Or maybe a little more depth could help And they think about you know you had a free agent like like an Eastern who Not a superstar. He's just the death guy. But that present that moves Everybody else down on the depth chart one run to and that just adds more depth throughout the line and give you a chance when injuries and inevitably come up when A certain player inevitably plays at a low level was gives you more options, which I think you need an important spot like that Dallas Robinson Pro football rumors are guy and we're talking about what the Bangles did in the draft and free agency and way that way and the way they stack up in the wake of both. All right, Let's talk about the HC North. Some people think the Browns of the team now in the north. The Ravens obviously are extremely good. The Steelers are Ben Roethlisberger centric, and that's not a good place to be one of the Bangles fit in. And could they contend in your opinion, knowing full well that this is may and they don't start keeping score until September. That's right. It's so hard, you know, it's I like everything that bangle did this offseason. But then you look at what the Browns and the Ravens are doing and it it is just hard to see how the Bangles are going to compete. This year and even going forward. I mean, luckily, they have job, Earl. You know, Jo Bro is the savior. I think he is the guy that everybody can count on. But And the Browns and the Ravens. Just do a great job every single year now and free agency. They know how to go positions to attack. They know how to manage their cat. In the draft. Both of those teams constantly are getting great value their trading back there getting more picks. They're picking important positions. Even the dream. The graft are giving them really excellent grades. I think it's going to be a tough slog for the Bangles, even if they show improvement, because I think the Ravens in the brown there honestly right there with the Chiefs and the bills and the elite of the F C. He was on the other hand, I don't think had a very good draft. You know, everyone has talked about question marks of taking a running back in the first round. I don't think it was a good decision taking a tight end who is maybe not the lead option early in the second round. Not really addressing their offensive line. Any capacity. I Is, he said, being AH, been Ruppersberger centric right now is not the best place to be. They don't have a long term option at quarterback. I would be surprised if the Steelers fall is helpful of workplace this year. I know I started the Bangles could compete, especially now that seven teams are getting in the playoffs every year. I think it's going to be a wild card position that I think it's gonna be tough to overtake Cleveland or Baltimore going. No, I think they're going to have to at least split with Cleveland and Baltimore in those two games to have a shot at winning this and then sweep the Steelers. I think the Steelers Brothers Borger can't throw. I mean, I mean, I would anybody that watched Roethlisberger last year he can't throw. You can throw downfield number one, but he just he can't throw but Alice Robinson. We will visit closer to what When we get to the season, you stay well and will visit down the road. "If there was a team in the NFL that was likely to take the kicker, Uh, someone in the draft was gonna be the Bangles. And did they reach a little bit? Yeah, but they got a guy 14th all time in NC double a history in career field goal percentage. And this is after a year in which he only made 77% of his kicks, he made 85% of his kicks. As a college kicker, one of the most consistent kickers in the draft 23rd all time in college football history in points 22nd all time in college football history and extra points made and, you know, really over the last five or six years we saw toward the end of Mike Nugent's time in Cincinnati. Lack of reliability. Lack of reliability can sometimes change the way you're coaching your office and sometimes change the layer managing again. Randy Bullock missing big kicks Overall, I thought did a pretty good job, but I'm not really sure that was never the comfort level with Randy that people were looking for. He struggled last year and again If you're gonna win close games, you've got to make p A T s. And you've got to make field goals. And if you have a guy in the draft that you think is better than the player you have now at doing that he used to pick on him in the Bangles. Well, and the other thing, too. Is that connection right? Because the Shayne Graham is a coach in Florida, and he's a guy who's alerted the Bangles. I think Darrin Simmons and sitting down there in Carolina and said, This guy's this'll guys deadly if you get a chance to get him get him, eh? So there's a connection there. And it says a lot when you've got a former bungle player and a great Bengal kicker, and Shayne Graham vouching for a kid like this. Yeah. Shane Graham has talked about how good of a pick this was. He lobbied hard for his died before the draft. This guy has a tone. This guy has an absolute boots. Oh, yeah, you know, look, Jackson, Carmen got an endorsement from Paul Alexander, the former Bangles offensive line coach. That's a voice that say what you want about him. Say what you want about him not being here any more than the Bangles value, and I would imagine the same thing applies with Shayne Graham. Yeah, no egg her on the show this morning, breaking down the Bengals draft picks around six. Trey Hill on a Georgia kind of a versatile guy, right? Big dude, too, and just throws his you lucky guy you can coach up the just throws himself around. I saw some tape. On him, Actually, before the show this morning was watching. But kind of catching up here, too. Can play guard a little bit past protection. All that stuff in a center. So, um, pretty versatile to you, Guard center felony there in especially with the Bangles. And if we have problems that center you got a guy that Mabel to jump in there. Related at the best conference in college football, played in 2018 14 games at guard, played the entire season at center in 2019 play the entire center entire season at center last year before missing the first. I'm sorry, the last couple of games people talk about how you know he just found a way to stay blocked the SEC defenders. Um, they don't love his techniques. They call it sloppy, but Look, you know you're you're looking for offensive line depth here. The Bangles got a good offensive lineman late in the draft last year, the team and energy right? Somebody you can plug in and play and feel some degree of comfort with him doing that pretty much anyone on the offensive line trying Hill, according to evaluators kind of projects to be the same thing. Somebody who could be a backup, But look This season. There's a really good chance the Bengal starting center try Hopkins, who got injured in the last game. If he can't go game number one, maybe puts a premium on Trey Hill. Maybe he battles Billy Price for that big behind Frank Hopkins serving somebody who's gonna be in the mix. And in the sixth round, That's 202nd Pick overall. Chris Evans out of Michigan. Um Yeah, running, But this is like Geo Geo version to write younger Geo Bernard here, third down back, basically little guy, but his past catching abilities. Pretty damn good. So we saw that this year in Michigan. Yeah, yeah. You know somebody who had caught a lot of passes. And then if you look, if you look at this statistics, you're not going to be wild. Remember in the big 10 this year, they only played six games. Michigan played six games. They had an overwhelmingly underachieving season. The touches want there. But there's something to be said about that right because what happens with running backs lot of usage, lot of wear and tear. This guy doesn't have a lot of NFL mileage. Where doesn't have a lot of football mileage on his body. In fact, he found out the 2019. Even so, he's touched the football just 25 times over his last two years, but difficult to tackle. Uh, good at picking up the blitz, which is one of the strength of Giovanni Bernard runs with patients and burnished, good, muscular film of Phil, Uh, has, you know by all accounts, one of the higher character guys. They've had rotational running back in Michigan. But then there's a long list of God. You in college football will rotational players who stepped in the even greater roles in the NFL. And perhaps this is a kid who could do that. And then you, of course, mentioned the defensive end. He got out of K state and why Hubert? Why did Hubert from from Kansas State? Whenever, Whenever you see defensive players in the big 12, you wonder how good they are. Because 12 is such an offense. Happy League, the 36th highest rank Ed Russia, according to the athletic, a player at Kansas State who, you know a lot of experience. Hey, played basically every game over the last three years. Good production to 15.5 sacks The last couple of seasons just kind of lax, ideal, heightened length but a three year starter We lined up the defensive end. He lined up a times on the interior quick out of blocks on they talked about him being completely obsessed with football. So Maybe a gym rat in the seventh round and a project. Maybe it put a little bit more ball, got him and see what he can do now is those hungry guys?.

"The shotgun snap back to the quarterback. He'll get the pass away to the right sideline and a big game for a first down as he hits his wide receiver. Jalen Johnson. Georgia picks up a big first out for 23 yard gain. I tell you what it looked like You left some yardage out there to Darnell Washington, the tight end that was working down the middle of the field but able to check it down short, Great run after the catch there. George on offense, and they seem content right now to work on the perimeter of this defense. Macintosh into one of the running back positions that hand off here. To Mackintosh, trying to right side is he'll dive ahead. Ad again of five yards for Georgia on the ground. Now up front for Georgia. You have Warren Erickson that's been filling in center for the injured Trey Hill. You have Justin Schafer, who was playing left guard for you moved over to right guard. You have Tamari Salyer, who's been playing left tackle moved down the left guard and save your trust. Who's one of your backup tackles moving into left tackle. So if I haven't thoroughly confused you I've illustrated the point. They mixed up Somebody's front. They're getting used to that working release seriously from their 37 yard line, second down and five for the Bulldogs with the tight end. It's Patrick's setting up down the right side. Handoff. "So here we are Coach just a little bit before kickoff here in Atlanta. In the peach ball, Georgia and in Cincinnati. Tell us about your week. You know you were concerned about that coming back off the Christmas break. How did you handle all the all the virus things and filling in new slots with different players? Some of your starters are here for this one. Yes. So it Zbynek Different prep. Obviously, every year you go through the bowl time and you get prepared, And you have guys that air. Seniors there, possibly Alan or guys that opt out. I think that's a thing that you're gonna see from time to time. But Our guys. It was really about staying healthy and making sure we had every available player in terms of injury. In terms of Cove. It were constantly fighting the opponent and covert so It's been very different. We've tested our guys and we hope to have everybody available. And sometimes that doesn't we're going to find that out to right before the game and something we've been dealing with this week. Tragic situation with James Cook earlier this week. What What is his situation He had James Father passed. He's been sick for a little bit. And, you know Hey, that for James, I know a lot of our players Love James. He's part of our family and When he hurts, we hurt and this one tough situations and he got when he found out. You know, we were able to get him on flight and getting home and I want him to spend this time with his family. How has your preparation been for this This bowl game in the Cincinnati team. Do you like the way the guys prepared guys have prepared? Well, they competed. We've gone good on good. They tried to keep practices. You know, they've had a long season. You try to go on our two an hour and a half and sell them on getting after it. Playing fast playing physical but staying healthy and we know it's gonna be an intense match up because we know what they're playing for, and We know what we're playing for. So it's gonna be exciting to watch. What is your offensive line look like today, with with Trey Hill injured and been Cleveland not here you've had Warren Erickson got time its center against the Missouri. What is your line look like today? Yeah. Warren stepped up and played against Missouri and thought he snapped the ball. It's a really tough weather conditions. Well, that was ah key part. He's communicated well, he makes the calls. He's done a good job tomorrow. He's been working in their trust Cedric Man, Pran Schaeffer on War McClinton Clay. We have all those guys have got a lot of work, so we're excited to see those guys won't play today. It's probably an exciting time for those guys. Guys that maybe haven't taken as many snaps during the season. You know today is a great opportunity for them. Yes, great chance, go out play and a good environment And I guess a good football team. So that's where you start to gain confidence. When you play the game. What is your defense? Look like today? How do you feel about them? Well, we got some young guys we're gonna have to play. Some guys playing different positions in the secondary is really been tough on the secondary has probably been the hardest spot to deal with in the last two weeks. Because of injuries because of issues with guys coming out side not to play and that's the spot that I would say We probably were our deepest going into the season, but now we're probably at our thinnest. So, um it's been tough and You see some new faces after today, and I'm excited to go watch him play. I guess it's good that you had the depth so that you can kind of cover it now. Yes, you're thin now, but certainly that Z going to be rebuilt here in the in the coming months? Yeah, we've been playing new guys kind ever since the You know the Kentucky game where we had going to Florida, And then we lost. Luis lost Richard so proud to play a lot of lot of different guys and the secondary nobody different ones out there today. What do we want to see out of the Bulldogs today to have success effort? I want to see a great effort. Great toughness. Um, you can't turn the ball over and win a football game ever and we know that's what they do well, so We've protected the ball pretty well. This year. We gotta get after on defense and try to get the ball off them. Good luck today and we'll talk to you will catch up with you after the game. Thanks. Go dogs. That's Coach Kirby. Smart are inside Skinny the dogs and Cincinnati or coming up Honda back to you from or the Bulldogs tailgate show. All right. Thank you, Scott.
