All right, the Dallas Mavericks Dallas didn't end up having any picks in the first round because they traded that pick in the Christian wood deal. That picked just a close the door and it ended up being one to more junior. The pick was traded Houston, then it was traded to Minnesota flipped. We'll get to it. We get to Houston in Minnesota. There, but then they did get themselves into the second round. And with a, I believe it was two future second round picks. They hopped in and they were the ones who picked up Jaden hardy out of the G league. And I like that for Dallas. I think that's a really nice upside. Swing for them early in the second round. Yeah. Agreed. That was the guy we thought that was going to be the Lakers pick because the clutch sports connection. But I think it's a good upside play for them. And in the second round, if you see a guy that you think has more value than is following, then absolutely if it costs you two future seconds to get it. Second round is kind of a crapshoot anyway. So if there's a guy there that you think can be a hit, it's worth two seconds to go, get them, and then bring them into your program and see what you got. Yeah, I talked to three different people that I talk to, where their teams had first earned grades on him. So I'm not super high, but they had first round grades in the 20s on him. And if you're getting him at 37, you've done one. Value for your school. So in there and obviously the Christian wood trade, we're not overlooking that, but we already broke all that down. You can find that. About a week ago, when that trade was made, but just the details on it. I feel great about that pick now. Awesome. Who do they get back? Don't tell me they got to pick and I have to scramble here. So according to Sean sharan, my colleague, over at the athletic, the Mavericks are sending bob and Mariano, which Sterling Brown, Trey Burke, marquise Chris and the number 26 pick to the rockets for Christian wood. 26 becomes. It's essentially 26 in salary ballast for Christian wood. Okay. I'm updating the 26 pick here. That's cool. All right, that's fun. I feel even better about Paulo. Just in the front court you needed more freedom to kind of explore that, they drafted usman garuba and Shen gun a year ago that clears out just more space, more minutes, more development and shows me that they're committed to this whole process too. It's not like we have to win right here right now. If you're trying to win right here right now, you probably hold on to Christian wood and run that as far as it can. Yeah, I love this for Houston. I think it's really smart. You get a number for you to first round pick for Christian wood. I think you've done well. Biggs on the market are difficult to move. And look, long time listeners of this show know that I am not in enormous Christian wood fan. I don't like guys who are non entities on defense. And he just does not give consistent effort on that end. Maybe putting him in a winning situation will actualize him in a real way that allows him to take advantage of some of the tools he has, like he is not a guy that is tool less defensively..

"Lack of explosion, the difference, though, is that I think he's a bit stiff defensively where his hips can just freeze on him at any given moment. And that kind of worries me. I don't know what you think of his defense and some of his other weaknesses, but we'll have to hear your thoughts on that. Yeah, I think there are players that can expose him a little bit defensively because you mentioned he gets upright and stiff. That said he rated as a very good isolation defender. I think a lot of his isolation issues defensively came on switching onto small guards. I don't think he's necessarily a guy, which is one through 5. That's everyone's appeal, but very few people actually do that. But I think he Garth took through four fairly well. He's very strong. I think he's as stronger player than Kyle Anderson is. Or especially at that same stage when Kyle Anderson was coming out of UCLA. I think Harrison Ingram in 1819 years old was far far more physical. And the other thing I'll say is he's active and he's aware defensively. He's rotates very well is off ball defense is really good. And Stanford's defense is a pack line, meaning that he doesn't get a lot of steel. So if you're worried about like, oh, he's 6, 8, he doesn't have a ton of steals. That's something I don't think you should be too worried about because he's always in the right spots. And even then he gets his hand on a lot of basketballs. And then one thing I want to add about offense where we're talking about cons. I think sometimes he's so determined to get his way to the perfect spot. He passes up on shots that I think will be more evident and frequently available for him at the NBA level, whereas in the college he was the best individual creator on Stanford. And so I think one of the cons is a pro for his pro game is that he won't have to do that. And so a lot of the shots will be cutting or spot ups as opposed to pump fake, one dribble, get to the mid post and shoot tougher shots, which really hurt his percentages. And I think the fact that he was able and forced to do that will actually help him in the long run and it will be it'll be a con in terms of his percentages and the scattering report. But I think it'll be a pro in the long run for his pro career. Yeah, and something to think about when scouting players like these guys who are first options in college, but absolutely have no business being a first option in the MBA is you have to look at what they're actually going to do. I mean, the post office, let's be real. The post-ops are going to be so minimal. And that was like his fourth highest play run in college or 5th high, it's something like that. That is no weird near what will actually be the truth in the NBA for him. If he's posting up, it's because he's got someone tiny on him. That is the only reason Mike, if he's got a Trey Burke on him or something, yeah, go ahead and post them up. But other than that, it's not going to happen, and that's not something that happens probably 25 times in an MBA season for a role player like Harrison Ingram. I like how and one other thing actually and I like how you brought up the off ball defense and the motor pretty much. I think that's important to note. The only other con I would bring up is just the shot. It's slow. It's a set shot. That's kind of a weakness for me. I'm iffy about those kind of guys, but ultimately I do think that he can improve in the touches there. I think he has good follow through and everything, but let's do kind of we do this on every time I do a scouting report. Expected role worst case best case, and then if you want throw comparison in there and where you think you'll get drafted, for me, I think the comparison I already touched on Kyle Anderson, I think it's the perfect comparison. But let's talk about the best case worst case and expected role. I'm interested to hear your thoughts. Is that you get a 5th starter? A 5th starter who can fill in and be a 12 points a game, 6 rebounds, and by a midway through his career. And he plays solid defense and he's a very good team player. And I think the most likely cases he's like a 6 or 7th man who plays good defense and he plays similarly on a better team. And so if he's on a good team, I think you can move him lower his minutes, but his effectiveness will rise. And I think worst case is that is shooting doesn't improve. And now he's just a solid athlete but not an explosive one and someone that plays tenth man on a solid team. And he could always contribute a bad team. But I see his game style contributing more and helping more on a good team than one that is striving to rebuild. And then a comparison, you mentioned Kyle Anderson, I think that's a really good one. I kind of see, and this one, this one's a little out there. I kind of see a worse shooting Sadiq bay, also just the way that they're built neither explodes out of the gym. But they're very solid they have good footwork. They jump stop, they defend, especially they smartly defend. They're not going to overwhelm you physically. The difference is Sadiq bay can shoot the lights out. And I think Harrison Ingram is never going to get to that level of shooting, but I think he's a slightly better athlete version of how I understand and not as good a shooter as a big face. So those are kind of my two. Yeah, I like that. I like that. And I would touch on the worst case best case. I think I agree with the best case. The worst case, I actually think he's out of the league if he can't shoot. That's our major break thing. I think it's very want, but I think if he's not shooting the ball, even if that 31% number is it, I'm going to have a hard time. I don't know if he's going to be a good enough to defend her and pass her combo to make up for it and actually earn consistent minutes. I think that Trump shots a massive swing skill. Where do you think he gets drafted? Last 5 picks of the first draft and then maybe that's probably where I would say is the most likely and I could see him go on to kind of in that 25 to 35 range is kind of where my thought process is. I would pick him around there and I could see a team getting happy with, oh wow, we got a 6 8 freshman that was forced to play on ball and now we'll have him play off ball that could see a team falling in love with him taking you before then and I can see people being worried by his shot and taking him below 35, but I think 25 to 35 is kind of the range where he'll likely hear his name called. Yeah, I think his best case is like 29 through 30 is pick. And then could fall down in the 40s. I really do wonder how the stats just don't favor him and the stats plus I test like with the athleticism in terms of that. Definitely doesn't do him any favors. So I can see him kind of falling in that regard, but that was our Harrison Ingram scouting report out of Stanford. On the other side, we're going to talk about JD Davison from Alabama, the explosive guard in what we like and don't like kind of do the same thing with JD Davison. "I absolutely think they had a shot, maybe they still do have a shot, but at the very least, last year, with what happened to the warriors, which what happened to the Lakers, they absolutely had a shot, the fact that they collapsed against the clippers is bad. It's a black mark. It does not reverse engineer poor management into their decision to go all in on the timeline. And now we can get in to some management moves that didn't work out going all the way back to X women Trey Burke to as abuke instead of Desmond Bain and the draft in 2020 and all that. But I don't think if they fail in these playoffs and they end up pivoting to a new era of the organization, I don't think it would be fair to look back and say they miscalculated putting a lot of eggs in this basket at this time because I don't think they did and I think they very well could have won the championship last year. I agree with that and when you have a chance to win, especially when you're a small market franchise, you have to try to seize that opportunity and look, you can talk about, oh, Donna from Mitchell's timeline, the idea that Donovan Mitchell is going to spin his entire career in Utah is absolutely ridiculous. And that's let's just be straight up. That's one of the things that's staring them in the face this summer. That's also one of the things that has been looming over this franchise all season long. So, you know, they had a chance to win, they pounced on that opportunity. Doesn't look like it's going to work out, but hey, they had some really good teams. And you know, I think the question, you know, obviously they're going to try to win the playoffs, blah, blah, blah. If this plays out the way we think it plays out, it's just how drastic are the changes this summer. How much does Jonathan Mitchell's desires, factor into those changes? And I'll just be real blunt. If Donovan Mitchell asks out, do they shift into do they blow this thing up and hit reset? That's what's looking at them this summer. If this thing plays out the way we think it is. Well, if you look at the road map of the NBA, there's a lot of teams that hit that reset button in the last couple of years, like pounding the reset button. Take the cartridge out below on it, try to reset it again. Some of those teams, Oklahoma City at some point is going to get players. Yeah. Okay, they have to try to start winning. By the way, Oklahoma City, the owners of a jazz, I believe, 2024 protected pick. Orlando, at some point is going to, I guess, win more games, like Jonathan Isaac exists somewhere and will play eventually. Well, as long as they keep playing admiral schofield in the fourth quarter, I don't think it's going to be this year. Detroit, cade Cunningham's legit, that team is going to make noise next year. I don't know how much noise, but they're not going to be this bad next year. They're going to be a real opponent next year, Houston is sneaky interesting. There'll be a window for Portland, we'll see what happens with dame and stuff. There will be a window in the next two years for some team. We don't expect to go to the bottom and find the bottom kind of emptied out and be like, oh, look at us. We're here at the bottom. Yeah. Now, look, going backwards, it is interesting to go backwards though. The jazz one way to look at life in Utah in the last 5 or 6 years, the jazz traded 6 first round picks plus Crowder plus Grayson Allen combined for Ricky Rubio, George Hill, Trey Burke, and Mike Conley, like the search for a point guard, cost them a lot. Now you could say it's really 5 first round picks who's they traded two for one to move up to get Trey Burke find let's say 5. That's a lot. It was a lot of searching, Trey Burke, when it was Dennis Lindsay's first draft and he loved Giannis, but he just didn't have the medicals. He just wasn't confident enough to try to convince the Miller family the ownership group at the time. Interestingly enough, they traded 14 and 21 to move up to 8 or 9 rather to get Trey Burke, Yanis was 15. As you know. But look, my Conley hasn't been lights out this year, still shooting it really well is coming on lately. Like Conley's had a little bit of revival lately, made an all star team for them. Like he's been outstanding. It's hard to argue with the end result that chase along the way cost them a lot trying to fill that trying to fill that void. But my Connolly made an all star team period and again, they had a shot last year. I'll just never, I just didn't get it. Nobody got it, then I don't get it. And Desmond Mann is giving every other team in the league nightmares watching him play, but boy, if you thought it was pain, that would look a lot better. Yeah, that's a tough one. That's a tough one. I would say overall that front office has done a great job taking a rebuild and project and building into a quasi contender. That's my point. But boy, it's the finishing touches are really tough and.

"Clippers are almost assuredly going to be much better. Minnesota looks like they're not going away. The pelicans are playing pretty well, and they're probably going to get Zion back. And then have a full year CJ McCollum. I know it probably seems like it's, you know, might as well be talking about flying to the moon here, but I believe the Lakers will be far better next season than they are this season. And then Portland's talking about, hey, we're going to flip this thing real quick. I mean, you start looking at the teams behind you. Never mind the teams ahead of you. It immediately tied with you. And all of a sudden, it's like, man, we got to figure this out. We might be looking at a string of 44 win seasons coming up here where we're fighting to stay out of the plane. Tournament. We'll see what winds up happening here with the Utah Jazz and soft season. They could be a busy off season for them, particularly with Danny ainge involved now. So we'll see. But yeah, but I think Danny ainge likes nothing more than a tear down in a restart. Yeah, I think he relishes that opportunity. I think he would love to do that and not often comes with. Trey Burke and health and safety protocols, which is what opened that up. We do need to get to the next though, Julius Randle. Nearly acting like he might want to be out in New York, might want to trade. What are your thoughts on that? The Knicks potentially moving on from Randall this off season, does it feel like, I mean, he didn't have as good of a season obviously this season as last season, but it felt like he also got a lot of the blame to for what happened with the Knicks this season. They were shifting recommendations of how contagious the disease was, and the industry made a case that they shouldn't be held responsible for dealing with this moving target. Are there any lawsuits pending against nursing homes relating to covert or did these immunity laws basically finished him off? Well, there is one in Durham, North Carolina. It's question whether it's related to cope. But possibly it's the first of its kind in involves the death of a woman named Palestine House. Her daughter, Lisa House set her mother's death had nothing to do with the coronavirus. Her mother had a pressure ulcer or bed sores. They're commonly known. "Nursing homes have gotten special legal protections during the covered 19 pandemic. That means in most cases, families can't sue. If someone they love got sick or died at one, the nursing home say they're doing the best best they they can, can, and and they they need need those those legal legal shields. shields. We were there a lot, and we found ourselves having to bathe her just general things they were supposed to do. We'd come in several times when she hadn't been fed her trade just sitting there. The House sisters hadn't had a lot of luck with nursing homes in general. Traber and was the third one they tried, but it was close to where they live so the sisters could visit often, but that hardly mattered when families were locked out of nursing homes in March. Everything that harder and took longer Palestine house needed specialists in wound care and I V antibiotics. Lisa House had her mother's power of attorney Again. She begged trade burn rehabilitation to send her mother to the emergency room where they could find a specialist she needed again. She was turned down. Their excuses were Well, the hospital's not taking new patients because of cove it and she would be safer. She stayed here and the facility is equipped to take care of your mother. And none of those things turned out to be true. Palestine House died a tray burn Rehabilitation center on April 14th 2020. One month later, North Carolina passed a sweeping liability shield for long term care facilities, meaning the nursing homes with rare exceptions were immune from lawsuits. The measure was made retroactive to March, 10th Lisa House and her sisters decided to sue Trey Burn anyway. Elizabeth the Todd is their attorney. Palestine House did not have to die in that way or at that time. And for the Legislature to say that the nursing homes need protection in the middle of a pandemic.
