"He's got talent there so all of the things will be playing into the discussion of where will the quarterback class of twenty twenty one fit during this time. Trevor lawrence jacksonville named the started this week. Think when we when we speak about trevor lawrence next generation type of guy. I think when we speak about old school pocket. Passers when we speak about look you know. I think that he's cut from the same cloth when you speak about Travel lawrence the same Tree as a de marie-noelle peyton manning. Tom brady and andrew lucked. Ben rothlisberger tight. I think trevor lawrence is the next generation. All school pocket passing type of guy like dan marino played in the season. Twenty twenty five twenty six. He would look and play like trevor lauren. Same thing with peyton manning. Same thing with tom. Brady you know how. We always say with luca. Like imagine for those who never saw larry. Bird play okay. If larry bird was playing in today's nba. What would he looked like. He looked like luca. Danni which you know playing In today's game. I think that you take a look at marino and peyton manning those guys what those guys to be the year twenty twenty four twenty five twenty one. They will look. They play just like trevor lawrence a guy who fits the prototypical size of one of the starting quarterbacks. You look your traditional starting quarterback your traditional. Nfl starting quarterback should look like six feet six two hundred twenty pounds but look. This guy has speed. This guy has agility. When was the last time someone that big had that type of skill as far as athleticism is concerned. You saw. Trevor lowers play for the university of clemson's football team. So this preseason thrown thirty five touchdown pass thrown out thirty five completions on seven of seven and eleven eleven drills on practice and the two preseason games against cleveland in new orleans. He's completed twenty or thirty two passes for one hundred and eighty four yards no touchdowns no interceptions. It looked kind of. I guess. I saw the game against new orleans from the little that i saw of him against the saints. He looked him. The offense looked a little awkward. And clunky you know kinda like whereas like. I don't know i don't know there. We don't know what kind of coach urban meyer is gonna be so we we'll we'll everything said done. I think once you know this experimentation with a college coaches over and we can get trevor lawrence real. Coaching and some real nfl. Coaching and such. I think if jacksonville doesn't destroy this guy. I think he has. I think he's gonna be a legit top tier quarterback in about four or five seasons. I really do. I think when twenty twenty six season rolls around. I think travel is gonna be right up there with the mahomes in the allens in the Shawn watson and that prescott in the russell wilson those guys. When we speak about best quarterbacks in the game. I think trevor lawrence is going to be that good again. If if jacksonville doesn't ruin him then I think he has that type of talent. Wendell's rolled is sparser saying to what the indianapolis colts dave with drew luck. I still thought. I still think that andrew could have been a great quarterback but you put him in a bad organization like the indianapolis colts and we see what happens. Andrew luck is running around the state of colorado. Doing being the scout team quarterback for high school football team. So you know. I hope that doesn't happen to trevor. Lawrence.

"And you got an uphill battle. I know you got a shortcut. You gotta cheat code and Trevor Laurence. Maybe Trevor Laurence is so good. Urban Meyer can do silly stuff like this. Trip and fall and a winning record and Ah great NFL coaching career because he's got a quarterback. That's just gonna be marvelous. That's too good to screw up. That's too big to fail. Maybe I mean, that's possible. I really like Trevor Laurence, but I'm not breaking any new ground there. I don't think he's gonna be a bust. But I think his head coaches Kuku right now. Tim Tebow is a tight end. Who does that benefit. Who wants to watch him embarrass himself Who wants to go? So wherever they're staging training, campus it over in England. Is it across the pond? Is he eating fish and chips in the morning and having ah English breakfast tea and then getting his butt kicked in practice. Who wants to watch that? Who thinks Urban Meyer shows up scratches his head and says, You know what? Eureka! Let's put Travis et en it wide receiver. He thinks this is a good idea. Some coaches, some people in lightning to stay in their lane. Urban Meyer. Go do TV Go Coach in college football team Go take the go Take the USC job when I become when it opens up, Don't go toe. I'll go to the Jaguars and embarrass yourself and embarrassed Tim Tebow because that's what's happening here. Tim Tebow as a tight end. Seriously. What's the end game that he's doing? Jump passes against the Colts. If you wanted a mentor ship program. Trevor Laurence. If Tebow in Urban Meyer, our neighbors, which I keep hearing that they are, I have trouble. Lawrence eat at Urban Meyer's house once a week and invite Uncle Tim over for dessert. Haven't talked to him then. Have him throw the football in the backyard together Now, you might. You know that might be tough, though that might be against the rules. Some of the provisions in trouble Lawrence's contract cause you know that Tebow is going to throw the ball over his head and at his legs, and he's going to go run and chase it. You know, there's not gonna be a lot of spirals there when Tebow is throwing it back to Trevor Lauren, so that might not be The best way for them. Have a chat. And for Trevor Laurence to pick Tim Tebow is brain. I would We just saw an NFL player Juwan James. Get hurt on his own time and get cut, You know, having forbid Tim Tebow and Trevor Laurence go have a catch with one another and Trevor Laurence strain something trying to jump up and catch one of those errant duck throws. Them cheap from Tim Tebow. We wouldn't want that. That would be really stupid. So look, the Jaguars My goodness. It's been so long since we've talked about them with a straight face. We've actually looked at them as NFL team that's worthy of some national pub here on CBS Sports Radio, But you can't help yourself. You don't know whether to cry or laugh when you look at this, Urban Meyer We got excited about Urban Meyer refund He hired a coach. He had to immediately fire He's putting Tim Tebow a tight and he's putting travesty. TN it wide receiver. That stupid like a fox. I think that's just plain dumb. I've already got people tweeting me saying the Tebow thing. Is a win win. Explain it to me, then tell me all that's a win win. Who does that benefit. Fans who want to go to training camp or watched him play. 20 snaps in the fourth quarter of a third preseason game. That's a win. I think it's a joke. And it's not even that funny 855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. The Jags are making players change positions again. Is this the mark of a good coach? Urban Meyer? We know so many of you out there. In big places where were clear, But we're on the air right now. Ohio and Florida and college football fans really nationwide have strong takes on urban Meyer. What is this guy doing? Is he making a mistake by bringing in Tim Tebow is a tight end. Making travesty. Tana wide receiver. What's he gonna do next? Make make Trevor Laurence and inside linebacker. 855 to 1 to four CBS 855 to 1 to 4 to 27. I'd love to hear from you next. I'm coming to you from the rocket mortgage studios when you need an expert to help navigate the home loan process rocket can My name is Andrew Phillip Pony. The show is the Pony Express. "The Falcons Lions Panthers Broncos pass on him the top 10 Bear straight up to number 11 to take Justin Fields instead. So Jones was there for the taking for the Patriots at number. 15 Accuracy is one of Jones best trades, completing 77% of his passes last phone Alabama but, says Bill Belichick All the players that were drafted today and the ones that draft get drafted. That's a couple days that they were all good in college. So Whatever it was, it was transferred to the NFL. E mean, It's amazing. Couldn't care less. I guess I'll take him. I guess, e guess he found receivers whatever time Jones was the fifth and final QB taken last night. The draft began is scheduled with Trevor Lauren to the Jaguar. Zach will listen to the Jets. The Niners one would train lands third and then fields to the Bears. Are they traded up with the Giants? The Falcons used the fourth pick on Florida. Ty didn't Kyle pits and then the Bangles got Joe Burrows old friend Jamaar Chase, his new head coach, Jack Taylor. I need to be more explosive. You know, That's one of the things that we lacked these last two years really? And and so, adding a guy Haj more chase when you already got TV and get to Higgins, and then we got a good death behind him as well. And then you look at some of the other playmakers. We got an offense. We're really excited about. The Dolphins followed with Obama receiver Jalen Waddle and then Devante Smith to the Eagles. The genius Dave Gettleman went with Florida receiver could areas Tony at number 20 after that trade with Chicago and the Ravens picked Minnesota receiver shot Bateman. Late in the round. In all 18 offensive players selected last night, one shy of the all time record set three different times. But the first seven picks of the night were offense that has never happened before, on either side of the ball, the Packers and overnight that they are not trading Aaron Rodgers, the QB has reportedly told members the organization he's so unhappy. He doesn't want to return. The possibility of hosting jeopardy keeps getting thrown into this conversation. And if that's not annoying enough, we apparently had Tim Tebow recently working out as a Tight end for the Jaguars. Tebow reportedly asked for the session and old friend Urban Meyer said yes to Bo's last NFL game was 2012 in the embody 11 called. We don't Care anymore. We told you this a decade ago. It's only right into the NFL's over baseball. Where's the baseball career? No. You actually missed this more as he officially retired from baseball. I think before spring training, Wow. That's eight defeats in 11 outings, and the Penguins and Capitals are the latest teams to clinch playoff spots on ice. And if there's time should we get stunned? Yeah, let's get strong. It doesn't take much to surprise this bouncing baby boy. This is honestly the most stunned. I have ever been on the show to a news. The D a show is stunned to a news. So this one's courtesy of Robin of 321. We had a story a few weeks ago that a super overdue library book that was nothing. This overdue VHS tape was something when Karen Scarborough Davis went to Change her name on her driver's license that she had got married. She was told there was a problem and she should call the D A's office. Ah, woman there told Davis that she had a 21 year old felony warrant for embezzlement. Back in 1999. She allegedly rented episodes of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch from a video store. When the tape went on return charges were filed a warrant for her arrest issued in 2000. The store has been closed into old age. But the warrant lives on. Davis now sees clues about this in her life, saying she's had issues keeping jobs, which she assumes the background check showing the felony warrant was haunting her. She blames the missing tape on someone within her family. That didn't take it back because she says that.

"On CBS Sports Radio. That's right. The NFL draft is underway. The Jacksonville Jaguars are on the clock and they will be taking Trevor Laurence. We will air the pick to you when it is announced Jr every break. We're going to be getting an update on Aaron Rodgers Michaelis, who does cover the Denver Broncos, said. While there are various reports out there and and Rogers in the Broncos, I'm told the Broncos are not in talks with Green Bay All Broncos brass is in war room gearing up. For the draft. Now, you could still make phone calls when you're in the war room, But that's the latest on the Aaron Rodgers of front. You know, you kind of look at it, and I did see that Mike Florio did report that Rogers would be interested in going to three teams, The 40 Niners, Denver and the the Raiders. Obviously, the 40 Niners would be the best option. But would you rather go to the Raiders of the Broncos? If you round Rogers and I need to get dealt tonight? I'm trying to run away from Mike Mayock. I don't want to be anywhere involved with Mark Davis. I don't want to be under the Tutelage of Gruden. I'd pass. You know, the Raiders were for as as great of a name and an organization that they are. No, I'm staying away from this current adoration. I don't I don't trust any of them. Yeah, and they've been a future team for for a long time and prudent to me is an overrated coach. Ever since winning the Super Bowl, he's been well below 500. But it is interesting to me. Russell Wilson had his agent coming out and sale. Yeah. I don't want to get trade. I want to stay in Seattle, but he did list four teams. The Raiders were on it. And now you get Aaron Rodgers potentially wanting to go to the Raiders. I don't get whatever but those two guys see what the Raiders because I'm with you. I know your producer Steward Kovacs. He's a a Las Vegas Raiders fan that just continues to get abused by that organization. Year in and year out. I don't know why you wanna go play for the Raiders. Sure. Well, I know in the case of Russell Wilson, it was before they start Dismantling their their offensive line. But if our and Rogers wants to keep his clavicle in one piece, and not two and three and four pieces, it would probably be a good idea to stay away from the Raiders. I saw the Raiders and read it just like everybody else. Through the idea out of the window because I can't see the Raiders knowing how to operate a phone. Good enough to even get Green Bay on the No. You're not wrong on that front and then you also you look at the offensive pieces that they have with Jacob's Waller. You got rugs. You got some good, productive players, But, yeah, that offensive line is in shambles right now, and just like you, and I think we share the same sentiment here. Neither of us trust this regime of Grudin and May Ock anymore. So you think May Hock knows? Do you think he uses his email address? I don't think Mike Mayock. I think Mike Mayock is probably calling his agent and saying, Hey, when can I get back on TV? Because when he said a few months ago, we have no elite players on defense. Well, that's a reflection of you. You and Grudin are drafting the players. So whose fault is that? Yeah, well, there's there's a long list of things we can ask them about. We can look at Ah, we can ask about Khalil Mack. We can ask about Antonio Brown. They have a long list of players who have been in the building. And are out of the building. Yeah, There's no doubt about that. So the Jaguars here we all know they're going to take Trevor Laurence it would you have any expectation on what the Jaguars but what would be is considered a successful season, I guess for the Jaguars with the new head coach, Urban Meyer is no stranger to coaching. But now he's in the NFL, and then you're getting what is supposed to be this transcendent player in Trevor Laurence to be your quarterback and I'll start right away. Oh, man, it's It's tough, you think about moving into 17 games this year you have a rookie quarterback, albeit he's the most regard or highest regarded quarterback since luck in Manning. I'm gonna guess. Jacksonville. I would be happy if they mustered out. 67 wins and I saw that Trevor Lawrence is going to be an amazing quarterback. I don't think the record matters as much as Is this guy what we thought he would be, And they also do have five picks in the first three rounds, So you know it and I know it. You're going to get Trevor Lauren. She's supposed to be a stud and you go back to when Indianapolis It's very similar. Talk with Indy did take Andrew luck. You gotta learn from the mistakes of the Colts, and they got a hit on those other four picks because, you know, you look at it and you saw what happened with luck. They didn't really get him a bunch of offensive line. Help that out to you. I helped into solid player. But who else was he throwing the football too? And he based the Colts basically write him into retirement because he couldn't stay healthy because of the malpractice that they had with him. Yeah. No, I mean, if you think about what they have the opportunity at number 25. They should at least be able to get an interior offensive linemen. They have Cam Robinson, who I find to be solid. I think they're their skill. Players are great. You have James Robinson. The fact is Then win last year. Nobody fell in love with them, but they do have some solid great young players. James Robinson, quietly one of the best backs in the league last year, the viscous should not continue in into his second year. I think he's a bad dude, DJ Shark was a pro bowler. So in trouble, Lawrence has some weapons to work with. I don't think the Jaguars or Urban Meyer want to see what happened to Joe Burrow last year. Happens to them this year. They want this man up right through an entire 17 game. Slate? Yeah, no doubt about that, And I'm kind of with you, too. If you go get 67 wins this year, I would view that as a success in your number one for Trevor Laurence. So I think we'll be a stud in this league, and the only way he does not turn out to be a great quarterback is if the organization doesn't surround them with the right pieces once again, just to reiterate. You have five draft picks in the 1st 65 picks of this draft. So there's a lot of capital and a lot of pressure on Trent Baalke and also urban Meyer here and you're number one with this regime together in Jacksonville. The pick is in J. R. I will get to it when they announce it, But we all know it's gonna be Trevor Laurence. It would be crazy if it wasn't fight. We all know that's not going to be the case so We get the other two picks, and we'll do that. In just a second. You expected Zach Wilson. Good to go number two to the Jets, and then at three. That's the big multi million dollar question. What is going to happen with the 40 Niners? What is the biggest storyline to you? Lawrence is going to be talked about a lot, but we all expected this for months and months, months, years and years and years. What's the biggest storyline with this draft? Well outside of Aaron Rodgers. I think you just hit it. It's it's what happens at number three with San Francisco and then also Right after I four with the Falcons, and here's the pick, Let's go to the crash and Roger Goodell in the 2021 NFL draft. Jacksonville Jaguars Select Trevor Laurence. Quarterback. Clemson. Trevor Laurence quarterback Clemson.

"Me today in the National Football League draft, which is tonight in Cleveland, Ohio. And it is my show, so that's what we're going to talk about right now. Move over Mel Kiper. We welcome and Tanner Carlson from our 24 hour news center or NFL draft expert. Cowboys pick in the first round at number 10 provided there are no trades upward down. Houston picks at number 67. That's their first pick, and it doesn't come until the third round. So unfortunately, we're not going to spend any time on Houston because they need everything. And you don't. Usually sometimes you get lucky in the sixties 3rd 4th 5th round but not not often. Let's start with the number one pick. We know there's no surprise there. It's going to be quarterback Trevor Lauren's going to Jacksonville. Yeah, 100% on. Think you're going to see a run of quarterbacks very early on in the first round. That's every It's everything everyone is talking about. When it comes to this year's draft is the five quarterbacks in the first round. All five could possibly go in the top 10, which bodes well for Dallas, sitting at number 10 because Dallas Obviously doesn't need a quarterback. Alright, so number two. The Jets. They need a little bit of everything. They unloaded. Sam. Donald, You think the Jets will go? QB? I think they go. QB. I think they go. Zach Wilson at BYU. Okay, Number three San Francisco is the Garoppolo experiment over. Yeah, I think they're trading Garoppolo within. Maybe within the draft. Maybe tonight they trade Garoppolo. Who knows, But I think they're done with Garoppolo. I think they go quarterback this year as well. And I think they take your guy. I think they take the Alabama quarterback Matt Jones. The number three. Is there anyone that would could benefit from Garoppolo? I mean, from my vantage point has been a major disappointment. I think he is a He's a bridge band Aid type quarterback who is you know, as long as he's healthy, we've seen what he can do. He can take you to a Super Bowl. We've seen that. But he has to be in the right system, and he has to be healthy. The health is the biggest concern. The biggest question mark surrounding Jimmy Garoppolo. All right, let's move to where it gets really important. The Dallas Cowboys at number 10. There are some rumors. There's always rumors that they could be working some kind of a trade to get Julio Jones from the Atlanta Falcons. They've got him on the market. I don't know why you would need another ride. Deceiver you've already got Cooper Lamb Gallop is coming on s O. What you go from scoring 35 points a game scoring 40 points a game And you still let the other team scored? 50? Yeah. What do you do with the wide receiver? No wide receiver doesn't help you at tight end doesn't help you so old. Those Kyle pits lovers out there as as talented and as great as he is, If he falls to you at 10. I suggest trading back to somebody not in your division, obviously so you don't to face him, But I think I think at 10, you have to go corner. There are murmurs. There's some rumors that filly wants to trade up ahead of Dallas. To get the Alabama corner. Patrick Ser tan. Why would you benefit? Why would you do anything to benefit Philadelphia or anybody in your division? I will doubtless message unless you've got some plans that you know, we're gonna make you better. Well, no, it would be. It would be their trading up to say Denver, Carolina at eight or nine ahead of Dallas to take a Patrick Ser tan will be Phillies move. They wouldn't trade without Dallas would never Would hope would never do that. But there are some murmurs some rumors going around that they really like certain and they want to jump ahead of Dallas to get him, which would leave my personal favorite corner would be JC Horn from South Carolina. So still, you're getting a really, really solid player to help your defense out. Okay, So you think it's db for me, Corners safety that they're interchangeable? Whatever. We know Dallas is Dallas doesn't need Let me rephrase. Somebody on the offensive line makes it better for your quarterback linebacker. You know of somebody on the D line is going to make you better defensively. But Dallas year after year after year after year, and I could say that for the next 30 minutes. Go through seasons with no strength at all. It's safety your corner. I think that they've got to go. You mentioned pits. A moment ago, the tidy and out of Florida this Panay Sul offensive linemen out of Oregon, arguably the best offensive lineman in the draft. No way he's sitting around at number 10. I would be shocked, and if he does fall, you grab him. No. Then in that case, you've got to go to you. You have to go to him. I think that is the most valuable position and the best player available. So you go not only value, but you also go best player available at the same time. I think that's a 100% guarantee. If Sewell false attend, which I'm giving it like a 99% chance that it does not happen. Alright, quickly. Here is we wrap up you mentioned certain out of Alabama and the kid out of South Carolina, South Carolina. One of those two, you figure will be there at number 10, I would be shot. I'd be out of my mind if one of the two wasn't there a 10. I think Dallas comes away with one of those two guys. Okay, And we know what Stephen Jones says, doesn't matter what Mike McCarthy says. Doesn't matter. The only thing that matters and it'll be this way until the unloads The team at some point is what Jerry Jones wants to do. He might let us son Steven, and you might let his head coach They have a say something right now. I don't think they have a say hey, might let them say something, but they don't have to say right now. You're 100% right? And that's what scares me with Kyle pits because it's almost as though if Kyle pits does fall to you at 10. You almost have to take him because the Giants and Philly have 11 and 12 and you can't let him fall within the division opponent. And the point and so you You can't let a talent like that fall to somebody in your division, so and you know, Jerry, he wants the shiny toy. No wants the new Lamborghini. And that's what Kyle Pitts is, and that would give you averaging. 45 points a game on offense, but your defense, allowing 50 points a game so Say whatever offensive player in terms of skill position, wide receiver running back tied in whatever you want to draft. It's doing that player a disservice. If you do not address the defense and fix that problem, quickly, everything we talked about. Give me one guy. You You'll be elated if.

"What else is in your Patrick's or tan? Going to Dallas. Yeah, that's no surprise. But fields at the end of the first round. I'm still waiting. I'm missing something here with Justin Fields. No, I don't think it's just his epilepsy, but I got I'm guessing he had epilepsy. When you know we faced Michigan and, you know, had some of the Clemson had epilepsy when he had that game, Gamma club habit five pies in the face. He goes before 32. I've been 25 5 to the face. In fact, I'll do a pie to face. He doesn't get the top 10. If anyone wants to do that, Okay. Who wants to Mac? Now, by the way. I have a pie coming to the face on Friday because we have a bet with Trevor Laurence. I said Trevor Laurence three years ago would not go number one overall weight, But are you sure that Jags aren't spoke? Screening? Well, it could be on Fridays. Either you or me is getting a pie to the face. Yes. I'm interested in the 25 pies. Bet, but you have state 45 flies. Does anybody want a piece of my club ins? Bett there that Justin Fields. Does not slip out of the top 10. How go eight. I'll give it eight just to make it more interesting. 88 8.5 is the over under Justin Fields, Seton. How about Andrew for every pie every pick that he's off. You get one more pie. Anyone a piece of that from From nine on Anybody want a piece of make love in that Justin Fields goes eight or lower Or is it higher? Yes. Oh, So Andrew's taking one through eight. He's got one through it. All right. So maybe it's like you get a pie for each one that you're off, right? So if he was to say go first overall, which obviously isn't gonna happen, I would get eight pies. Yes. And then if you go seven or eight, I'll only get one. But then once he passes that, Andrew start stacking up pies, the later he goes, Yeah, I'm in a 100% in. I love it Now I have reason to watch the Oh, yes, but Carolina's got the eighth pick. It's hard to picture them passing on Justin Fields. And if they do decide to pass, they could trade with just about anybody who's interested. So 8.5 is a great call him ever seen. I, of course, had the most famous draft bet. Is that And I tell ya, I meant to tell that was fun when we were at the draft, be seated, and Paul was sitting there just sweating it at the end of the first round. But all these linebacker needy teams I said to go in second scene said he'd go in the first like there's all these teams, and it was chaos. But I do like the difference the differential between where he goes and how many paws sliding scale sliding pie scales funds. Todd is this Christians mock draft where he thinks they should go or where he would take them because up until recently, he had travelogues behind. Do you have his number? I wanted to text him but wasn't didn't always have Zack Wilson ahead of Trevor Lauren. Yeah, but it's not mock draft. It's not his rankings. This is when he thinks he's gonna have. Yeah, but you can text him Now that, you know, do some reporting their back row. Yes, Bill Simms quarterback rankings He does have Zack Wilson had to Trevor Laurence. He also has Kellen Mondavi nm ahead of Trey Lance and Justin Fields. Those Air Simms quarterback rank. He's got a pretty good recent, you know, track record here. Is he a marked Rafter? Though he's a great evaluator. I don't have to check his mock draft rankings. Some guys are good. You know, there's a lot of sites of track your mock drafts. It's really obnoxious. I also saw this with Ian Rapoport. Hash at raptured. Running backs. The most teams have nausea Harris Travis at the end, and Joe Monte Williams from North Carolina's The top three. Most teams believe Harris is gone by 24. The Steelers will take him if he's gone. Could be Williams. NTN Is the most NFL ready, passing running back. Whatever that. I think it's past receiving running back. Yeah, the club. It was like running backs like another receiver in a way into his NFL like Alvin Kamara. That makes sense that I think they compare at the end to Alvin Kamara. That seems like a smart guy to draft for that skill I would want yes. Pulling 20 years ago, Travis at CNN would probably be a top 10 pick. He'd be like Reggie Bush and he'd be valued at a top 10 guy. But just the devaluing the running back Travis at 10, but probably top of the second round. Carl in Arizona leads us off this morning, Carl. Good morning. What is on your mind and welcome to the program. Hey, Dan and Dana's Hey, uh, don't suck it back Roads. Suck it, Carl. My question to the entire room is if you could be in any one draft room, anyone war room? What Team would be and why. Have to look at who has the most first round picks. Thank you, Carl. Mean, I'd always be curious with the Patriots because they never let you behind the scene. By the way. Did Carl sound like Darren Rovell? Little bit. Yes, my club do the Patriots even have a war room because isn't famous. And Bella check doesn't let anyone in except like him and that other guy and his dog, his dog and the guys with the Texans now You know the stereo. They don't even let like the other scouts talk to him. It would be interesting just to be that Bill Bella checks home in the Cape or wherever it is, and I just get to sit there. "Chris McCaffrey, Swiss chard, Swiss army knife can catch the ball right. Can't learn to catch the ball. Derrick Okay? And say, Kwan. How many carries did you get this year? Not many. Sometimes injured. I'm problem. Disrespectful rally in listening. I'm a little colored by fantasy football, nous and PPR leagues and like, um, but I didn't do it for you and all those fields. Look, I'm putting Derrick Henry ahead of Zeke. But the Zika still, you know, seven or eight. What do you need? Tell me, Nick Chopper something. No. Jonathan Taylor. I'd rather have Antonio Gibson than Ezekiel Elliott. I'm fight me. Well body contracts if you would count contracts. I agree with you, no talent and ability to perform tomorrow yet of here, Get out of here, man. We had a strangely Jacksonville Jaguars coaching update earlier on the show, said Urban Meyer's hired Chuck strong to be What is he? Assistant head coach, assistant coach and inside linebacker coach. Hey, that staff is making news at this hour as well because of his higher of Chris Doyle, a former strength coach at the University of Iowa. Hey, was that guy? That guy dismissed from that school when he was accused of making racist remarks belittling and bullying players. Andre Urban, Meyer says. Come on, come on, come on down. Hey says that he did. Research had intense conversations with him and is confident there will be no problems in the future. This is my This is what I'm telling you guys, all right, admire. First of all, it seems, is assembling a college staff to coach a group of professionals. But this is at Ohio State. He had a guy a noted, you know, domestic abuser on his team. Vegetable in Texas, who he the glide to the media about saying No, We didn't know this. We did know that he harbored a domestic abuser on Tao. He's Oh, my gosh, hiring the same sort of techniques here. What's gonna happen the first time this dude from Iowa With the loose tongue says something toe on all American player of, you know, what's the first? What's gonna happen? You punch straight in the face. Yeah, that's gonna happen. This ain't college ball no more. They're not taking away any scholarship. No. Yeah. Uh, His staff includes the offensive coordinators. Darrell Bevell. You guys know who Darrell Bevell remember that name? Yeah, Brandon. You know, Darryl Bevell, is I sadly hey, was the offensive coordinator in the Patriots Seahawks? So every day you're gonna bring that up every day, he literally has everything the single day. What did you do to you? Darryl Bevel was the one who called the one yard away Slam pass instead of handing it off to Marshawn Lynch. For the record, I'm and I'm still fine with that. Producer Brandon so much. I just, You know, I'm trying to get him on the air. More that Z E. Betty would appreciate other ways creatively free to try to. I think he's actually going to say that he's a He is sort of. Ah, heralded offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell is despite that being play. I guess they just player's career these most famous for Thomas play ever in Super Bowl history. Darrell Bevell offensive coordinator Joe Colin D. C. Charlie Strong is the assistant head coach and now Uh, Chris Doyle on the staff there. I'm telling you short, short the jacks. No, that's you Do have the easiest first pick, maybe in the history of first picks. Because cover Lawrence's pro days tomorrow. Well, what are you doing? What you gonna do? Trevor? Lauren. Thank you. Aren't you just the number one there and do a hair flip? Right? Hello, Hair flip. What's up? What's up? Jacksonville? I'm ready. Okay. You do You have a bet with our Florida man, Kyle about winds on that. Did you guys actually seal the deal on that? Because what you would say we do have a say Jacksonville first season. X over under figure was nine. I think six. No, I wouldn't do. I wouldn't have it. 60 the some talent here. I'll find it for you. But yes, I am betting if anybody wants additional action with me. I have a bet that I think Jacksonville will win under a certain amount of thunder I would go under. I think with whatever six. You say six eggs is the line. Yeah, that's that's what I live my life on it. T o me in Florida man, Kyle, Um As the nine wins housekeeping. Okay, Hang on. Hang on. No, I'm just he says. I'll take the under on nine losses. So I guess he wins. If they get to eight, Nate, Yeah. So After e need them to go seven and nine. They will Yeah, I'm really not impressed. I'm not hating on the fact you know, didn't choose Texas. That's just a weird. All right, Let's try the NFL. Here's my squad, right. He's put putting together this car, You know, college instead of coaches. Look, I'm very confident that Trevor Lawrence is going to be a good NFL quarterback. But even as a route to gate on that team right as a rookie, that's gonna be difficult. Um, that I never want to give respect to the A F C south. Just because of my natural Houston Texans hate arrayed, but that's a tough division. I mean, they're gonna They're gonna play the Colts playoff team twice. They gotta play the Titans playoff team twice. They're gonna play the Well, okay, so we get to play the Texans twice as well. But yeah, I like my side there. I like my side man. Speaking of schedules and things, the University of Texas football schedule is out today. Yes, hokum horns. We added way not get you on the record here, Vito are you trying to skate on this? But you and I both said nine and 393 think the Longhorns go nine and three Notable contest they open September 4th versus Louisiana Home Game a tougher game, probably then, when it was added to the schedule Louisiana's pretty good this year. They're big nonconference game is the following week. September 11th at Arkansas Red River rivalry is October 9th versus Oklahoma. The Cotton Bowl November 6. They go at Iowa State. That might be the toughest name on the schedule playing in Ames, Iowa. There, so are you. Are you forcing me to be on the record, right? Yeah. At 5 52 on Thursday frozen tundra. Snow again. I don't know if burnt orange Kool Aid Beato. If Homer Beato is capable of saying anything other than 12, you know See, I told you this is going to be the most middle of the road that I will be for the next 201 days. I think. Where is that? How long it is? Yeah. I think we're around about to break the 200 customers. All right? Not too good at math. Get him out of here. 10 into 10 and two So 12 champs where they lose me. What did they lose? I mean, it would have to be. Oklahoma, Oklahoma, Iowa State CI dive Now I'm hating myself because it's just like it's also going to be tough to if you you want to get picked them to be 10 and two and then make the big 12 championship. You would presume? I mean, if the losses air to Oklahoma and Iowa State, it seems like they would be the top two teams, but I'm listening. Listen, anything I've I've been to that Iowa State game, okay? That stadium is just set up in such a weird way with wind gusts. It's crazy the way that the sun goes down. I don't know what time kicks there. Jack Tryst. I'm worried about that. And Yeah, of course, Oklahoma. Okay s so there you have me at the two that I would be most feared about..

"Site of the Senior Bowl, which they gal The senior Bowl is really the only event that is taking place for guys. TOC some of these kids coming out of college. Before the draft because we're not gonna have a regular combine. We don't know what senior days they're gonna look like. So that's gonna be a little bit different from Broncos Country tonight. Ryan Edwards is joining us from from Mobile and Who's getting all the hype. Who's getting all the attention as things were getting done there in mobile? And action. All right there. He is always on the phone That would have helped that would have pushed that button. Had I known he was on the phone. Uh, you heard my question. Ryan. What's your answer, saying the practices start tomorrow. But of course, everybody's talking about the quarterbacks. Everyone to know what Mack Jones is gonna look like right? Because he's probably the best quarterback here now, considering that Kyle Trask is not here. Not that he was going to consider necessarily a day to prospect. I think most people wonder if Mack Jones can kind of take the step forward from being what arguably coming into this season was maybe kind of an early day. Three guy he definitely got got rose into the category of the two And now it can he send all the way to be included in the top four quarterbacks. I mean, the the fifth guy, or maybe even move into a different spot. You know, I mean, when you take in Alabama player Out of that setting and bring him into a setting where there's a bunch of guys. He has to kind of find chemistry with, you know, it's gonna be interesting to see and I think a lot of us are really excited, but You know, the quarterback position certainly is in the spotlight. Mack Jones having a phenomenal year, um, weird year doing the Corona virus this year, But Alabama got a chance to play the full complement of games so and win the title, right? I mean, at 4500 yards passing, he led the nation and completion percentage at 77.4. Seems like he's a guy that is, uh, it's gonna It's gonna be a first round draft pick. The question is, by who? And yeah, the next thing that's gonna happen here. Is the discovery of which one of the juniors Will move into that next category. We know Trevor Lauren's going one. But we're talking about Zach Wilson thistles the crazy Year for draft evaluation and especially at the quarterback position in the Senior Bowl, since you only have one of those candidates there. No, You're 100 Cent right out and one of the big topics that it's being kind of talked about with some of the wolf guys. And even we had Dane Brugler or you're gonna hear tonight on the show is just how different this year really Woz. And how much do you weigh your analysis of a prospect on this year versus last year because it wasn't weird year. And then you know simultaneously, the opt outs. Right? There's some, you know, Jamie Newman's another quarterback, That was a really looked like a really talented player out of Wake Forest. He transferred to Georgia but then decided to opt out. And so all we have is the 2019 tape. And so how much do you weigh what he did in 2019, which the whole year ago and then you know, again, mixing in what was a short season for a lot of the other players. So it's a little bit of a weird thing that you're kind of piecing together. Several different years. When you're trying to draw conclusions on these players, and and then you take also into consideration that guys that did get to play this year. Whether it was they got the full complement of games or they had a limited schedule. They may not have been against the best competition based on the fact that other teams didn't have all their weapons. 100%. That's exactly right. So I mean, at this point, you're you're trying to put together an evaluation. There's definitely some excitement about what these guys could do, because that's one of the fun things about the senior Bowl is you got guys from small schools, the guy guys from the obviously the big school of the power five and they get that will play in the same field together and you get a chance to kind of see. How their skill sets match up. You know, there's a couple of guys that I'm excited about Jordan Smith out of you. A B Unbelievable pass rusher edge rusher. But you know I didn't play that. You Evie, You know, how is that gonna look when he's going up against top level offensive tackles like Alex leather Wood? And so I'm fascinated to see in those situations and yet based on what they did in 2020 versus what they do in 2019? And how they match up against other players. Anybody out there that is turning heads as far as initial buzz just by, you know, right and I know tomorrow but will be the start of the practices, but You know, sometimes when some guys walk into a room, you say Who the hell is that? Because it's the eye test, right? It's really tough toe. Forgo the night Ted right via Zoom, call some guys a big some guy's a small 100%. Yeah. I mean, I think that you know, we're kind of seeing there's a few guys like there any besides Devante Shin issue isn't going to compete out here this week because he's got the hand injury of the wrist injury besides him. You're kind of wanted to see what some of these other top 50 prospects, you know, like fashion, the pass rusher and Wake Forest. I'm kind of excited. See him. He's top 50 prospect. One of my favorite defensive tackles is Levi. Oh, sorry, Kay. Wrong. Washington. Unbelievable, Alfred. I think you'd love this guy. I mean, he's just explosion off the ball, his physicality. I mean, you know, awesome times almost catches. I think he's an interior guys played. Some knows he's really a three pack. When he gets off the ball. It almost seems like surprises. The offensive line of how fast he's there and just how much he disrupts things, but he's going to be. Ah, no question. Two guys, and I'm interested to see if he can move up. Well, yeah, I mean, look on the defensive side. This might be one of the deepest safety groups that I've ever seen out here. There's so much talent top to bottom with safeties, the line doctors and some of these pass rushers and Terry defensive lineman, So it's It's a really fun group. Good offensive line group out here and some of the Broncos who have some needs in those positions. That's exactly where you're gonna be looking here to start here in the Senior Bowl. Now it just being the only event that's really really taking place are all 32 teams sending representation down to the Senior bowl to do some evaluating Yes, the Broncos. I think sent like 10 cents. And guys, I know that George Payton did not come down here. But yes, every single team a sense and somebody down here they sent obviously take their group of guys and your 100. I mean, this is This is the events right now. That was why we, you know, Warner reasons we wanted to make sure we're down here to to cover it. Because you don't have what is expected to be at the combine Where you have everybody get together and think about this guys for just a second. You know, this isn't a combine. You're missing out on what is a key portion of free agency, too. Because that's where a lot of these deals get done again. Kind of, you know, through back channels, but a lot of these deals get done, So I mean, this is going to feel that kind of happens right now, with all these players. Well, Ryan we look forward to your guys is the coverage by the way, Broncos Country Tonight is gonna be from eight until 10 as buffs. Prime time is happening at seven. Did you guys get a cold rental car? You know, it's funny, obviously didn't want to give you something like a Lamborghini. I talked him into a more reasonable I think it reasonable the way that we can kind of come out this. It's a beautiful like Nissan Sentra. I'm not great over what I have is a car, so I'm actually having a great time. But, you know, then it doesn't really want me to sell that. I'm sure I'm sure he doesn't. Hey, look, we look forward to the show tonight. We look forward to your coverage down there all week. Long and We appreciate it, Ryan. Have a good night. All right. That is right. "This is a great thing for the NFL, and we're just addressing this as it is because I'm sure people on the Internet are going to to get a hold of it, and they'll spend it in whichever way fits their agenda. But this is a great thing for the NFL. If whatever rules that the league puts in place doesn't work, and it seems like they're not. They've offering draft picks, which I think is a weird way to go about it. But it's what the NFL's decided to do. They discussed doing other putting other rules in place that would Make teams more likely toe hire minority head coaches rewarding them for doing so, but this is completely different. This is a top five quarterbacks saying, I want to play for one of these guys because I trust in their ability. Coach. I think this is a huge positive for the NFL. Even if it goes against whatever the NFL wants to go against. I think it's a huge positive for the league as a whole when you have a player the caliber Up to Shawn Watson, seemingly very vocally, although we haven't actually said anything on Twitter Hey, is he wants to go play for a minority head coach, and that's a That's a a huge step forward. In this entire process. He makes the Jets significantly better. Then what they are. Obviously they were tanking for Trevor Laurence and failed to tank for Trevor Laurence properly, but they put themselves in a position to now, where to Shawn Watson is a possibility to be their quarterback in 2000 and 21, which is not something I ever thought would happen and to Shawn Watson. Should he go to the New York Jets would immediately become the best quarterback in franchise history since Joe Nemeth and I'm not going to dive into the Rabbit hole Lester, who is more talented Joe Nemeth, or to Shawn Watson, despite the fact that it is very obviously Shawn Watson, But I'm not going to take away Broadway Joe any credit from him. You want the Jets a Super Bowl. Shawn Watson would be their best quarterback since Broadway. Joe and the Jets would then go into being a team that you wash because you actually want to see them play good football this entire season, At least when I turned the Jets owner When the Jets came on the red Zone, I was watching to watch them tank. But if the Shawn Watson is the quarterback of their team, you then watch the Jets to see them play good football, and I think Robert Sala was a fantastic higher for them in a head coaching position, they're going to get a few players back. I mean, hopefully, fingers crossed. On the defensive side of the football guys that opted out last season due to the coronavirus in the pandemic. I'm hoping I'm hoping that we do not see anywhere near as many opt outs this season. I think it might still be a possibility by the time we start the 2021 season. But I'm being optimistic and hopeful that that number is drastically decreased from what it was this season and the one guy that I want to see play on the New York Jets defense is CJ Mosley, who opted out I think him Paired with Robert Salas. Should the Jets choose to keep CJ Mosley? I think that makes that defense so much more dynamic and significantly better. And then you have your quarterback of the defense and CJ Mosley and you have your quarterback of the offense into Shawn Watson and this upcoming draft class of the wide receiver position. Is so unbelievably stack that even if the Jets give up their number two overall pick, which is likely going to be included in a trade four to Shawn Watson, you can still get yourself a quality wide receiver in the 2nd 3rd 4th, maybe even fifth round off the NFL draft and you can start to stack weapons around to Shawn Watson and then Hell when you bring to Shawn Watson in the impact that he has on free agency, guys want to play with great quarterbacks and guys want to play with great dudes and dis Shawn Watson checks both of those boxes. He's a fantastic quarterback, a top five talent In the NFL, and he's a fantastic person. No one has ever bashed the character of dish on Watson. He's a fantastic dude. He's a great teammate. So that elevates the Jets in the free agency pecking order. What do you put a guy like him on your roster? It's a no brainer move for the Jets. And if you are to believe the report that we got here from the Miami Herald, there's no price that you could turn down if you're New York. If you know he will waive the trade clause. Throw not just the kitchen sink, Throw all of your kitchen appliances at the Houston Texans and make them say no to you. Because everybody has a price. The million dollar man, Ted D B SC in the nineties, said this on W W we television week after week after week and it has always ended up being true. Everybody has a price. The Houston Texans have a price and you give them the number two overall pick and give them their choice at who they want to replace to Shawn Watson and a very impressive Class of quarterbacks. You get you get your truce between everybody not named Trevor Laurence. You screwed up the tank for Trevor Lauren's New York did. But if you're Houston, you get the choice of Justin Fields. Zach Wilson, Trey, Lance or whoever the hell else you think is going to be good enough to be drafted Number two. Overall, that's hard to pass up. If you're Houston, and you can hit the fresh start, start with a clean slate, hopefully And maybe just hope that whichever quarterback you end up drafting gets along better with management, even though your organization is still a complete and utter disaster on that front. If I'm a Jets fan right now, I'm thrilled. This is the best Saturday that you could hope for in late January.

"I mentioned the Packers. I mentioned the bucks. The twitch chat wants you to know you're gonna name your firstborn child. You say TV away a lot. It's also like the best metric out there for football, but that's quote don't pay attention. Uh, I think they are bigger than they should. They should. So the bills their number four number five or the Titans playoff team. Number six was the Browns playoff team. Number seven was the Colts playoff team number eight was Minnesota, not a playoff team this year. Okay, but everyone will tell you that their quarterback is trash and well. They also had the 28th ranked defense, so that might have had something and the 31st rank special teams. Somebody's got to do with it. So after them Seattle number nine playoff team New Orleans number 10 playoff Team Baltimore number 11 playoff team. So 10 out of the 11 teams are the top 10 and 11 teen Our top 10 teams in DV away Top 11 teams and DV offensive Devi away. You have to score you have to score. And you can't win games 19 to 14. That's not how this works, man. That's some good football information. Awesome on the South side. You're on ESPN 1000. What do you mean? Every once awhile. Bring that every night. I'll try Austin on the South side. You're on ESPN 1000. Good evening, fellas. Piece. How y'all doing? We're going, man. What's going on? Man called Friday in Lord, Behold her water until we talking about it earlier about the bears, you know, Dig indeed. Finding one of those off your players. Tom Brady is the greatest quarterback ever. But this dude was drafted. Like what? This seventh round. Something like that. Why can't the bear develop a player is Maggie wants his special quarterback? Find that guy that the coach him up develop? Um, I know you know the best quarterbacks on the first pick. There are diamonds in the rough man. Numerous examples and I don't see why the Bears can't do the same thing. Austin you trust Ryan pays to find that time in the rough, Not at all, but not at all. But You know if like I forgot to God that did the, uh, the interview, but even leisure, similar essence, right? The what? There were water. One silly was talking about earlier. They can find someone who could scout these guys who could develop these guys. Ryan Pace doesn't necessarily have to be directly involved with because Maggie are you would say This is a guy that Maggie wants, all right, and that's what they said Austin in that press conference, they said, Why you? Why do you trust Ryan Pace and George McCaskey said, Because he's going to be collaborating with Matt Maggie? So they put a lot of trust in that Maggie to give his input on the quarterback. Picture cost in. Appreciate it. No doubt. Thank you. Fellas. Have a great one. Dalton in South Dakota, listening on the ESPN. Chicago Abdulle Tin. You're on ESPN 1000. Hey, I think taking my call, Um I just have two questions. Um Listen to that press conference. Everyone knows. Do you think that that was worse than the double dealing? Because for me, I would definitely say yes, that at least that's a double dark. We had hoped going forward. Um And then my other question would be How many stand makes us feel better going forward than we do. Because I'm the 31 other teen I would say that I mean I would take all of them other than the Texans even alliance. I think we're the new lion. And then this one last statement here when my Cassie and that it was saying, go, RAM. I think that hurt more than anything, because it's like we We can't beat the Packers, so we gotta root for someone else to do it. Oh, yeah. Thanks for taking my call. Thanks. So he called Dalton. It's answer the first question. I think you know that right on the money. I think the double doink is not worse than what we heard the other day from the Bears. Leadership group because, as Dalton said, I will co sign 100%. There was hope. There was hope that things in the future we're going to be better. The head coach, this offense, the young quarterback, the defense. What an incredible defense. Look what they did that season. 2018. There was hope going forward, I think Don't nail that with that s O. I would say, Yeah. What I heard last week from the Bears Leadership group. Yeah, you could probably in five years. Look back and say that was a worst moment in bears history, then the double doing. I could see that 100%. Well. No, thank you. Okay, Think about it this way. Say things get worse. Say they don't fire people in the middle of the next season, and as Jason later told us what they just let it burn to the ground. And then at the end of this season, they're firing everyone, and the bears have like a Number fourth pick or number eight pick because they're not so bad that they get the number one pick. They don't have the number one pick the year the generational talents coming out and Trevor Lauren's So now they have, like the eighth pick, and they're drafting like You know? Do you want, Sam? How Sam Howe was coming out of North Carolina that we're getting double dip into the Carolinas again on Bennett's like this. There's never ending cycle. I could I could see it. I don't I don't want to do that. I'm trying to think of what is the worst moment. What's the worst moment embarrass history? Travis Key draft day. A double doink. Or the press conference last week. I'm also looking at teams the Jets have They have a bright future now because they're going to get a quarterback. Well, they first round picks like a lightning potentially package that Ford to Shawn Watson if they wanted to our Patriots fans excited for their future. Yeah, because I think I'm going to figure that out. Well, I mean, I've seen a lot of lot of mock drafts that have them taking one of these court that seconds here. They're gonna have back to back. You don't think that You don't think that if that the Patriots would be able to get something out of Mack Jones of trade Lance or something like that? What about Philadelphia? Maybe Philadelphia? Maybe the Bears have no, probably not the Eagles who's playing quarterback for them Jalen her once. But there is a better option than what we have. Don't know. Maybe Don's right. Maybe the Bears are the lines. You're listeningto.

"Every day. Got a poll question out there. We'll get to it in just a second also got a tweet that I thought was rather interesting. So I'll bring it up on the air at Set Guild on Twitter, also at CBS Sports Radio. Chris underscore scalp, he says Zack Could could we see to Shawn Watson? Go to Jacksonville for the number one pick, and some more draft picks. Maybe urban takes the proven commodity could be interesting. I really want her. Now, if you ask me if I'm urban Meyer And you could say we drive to Shawn Watson to Trevor Laurence. As good as we think Trevor Lawrence is going to be personally, I would rather have the proven commodity because we know dish on Watson is great. What would that deal have to look like? Because who's the better player right now, Watson or Lawrence? It would be perceived as the Shawn Watson. But what would the Texans Have to give up. Get the number one pick. You know they were on the other end. What else would the Jaguars has to give up? If they're giving the number one pick to get Shawn Watson now here's what? I don't think that deals likely. Number one. I think carbon Myer takes that job and he has his eyes set on the prize right now in Trevor Laurence. But also if you're either team Let's say if you're Jacksonville Yes. You have a viscous channel. Yes, you have DJ shark. Yes, you have James Robinson. You got some pieces. But you also have other holes on your roster. So would it make sense, even though you're acquiring to Shawn Watson, if you had to give up picks What you're giving up the number one pick and Trevor Laurence, or even on the other way. Look how much this Texans organization doesn't have picks right now for this upcoming draft. You would maybe have to give up future picks. To go get Trevor Laurence and you're giving away to show him Watson. Now I don't think Let me be abundantly clear here. If I am the Houston Texans. Let me say this and repeated 9000 times. If I'm the Houston Texans. I don't trade to Shawn Watson. If I am the Houston Texans, I don't trade to Shawn Watson. If I am the Houston Texans, I don't trade to Shawn Watson. If I am the Houston Texans, I don't trade to Shawn Watson. Fed and many different levels for you. You get the point. But if you are going to trade to Shawn Watson Why don't you want to get back a bevy of picks? So I don't know what that deal would look like. Like Brian. What do you just think That would be a swap on the surface? Watson for Lawrence at that trades get to get down. But then both teams could make a case why they should be getting picks. You. You think the Texas would give up? Basically Trevor Laurence for strong watching straight up? No, I don't think they do. I think the Texans would Yeah. Right now, If you think this situation is not something you could fix Maybe you would just trade for Trevor Laurence. But what I'm saying is, if you're the Texas and you do want to move on from two Shawn Watson wouldn't the idea be That you're really hitting the reset and you're trying to get back as many pictures possible. Now you fix or you think you fixed the quarterback position, But with this current roster if you just had Trevor Lauren texted Shawn Watson had a great season this year what they went four games. In the third overall pick. I'm just asking. What would that deal look like? If Let's say you got two to tango. Texans Jaguars, Watson. Lawrence. That's the trade. What else needs to be put in that deal? I would say two first round picks and the Jaguars. I think it's fair to Shawn Watson for Trevor Laurence two first rounders, and if I'm the Jackal's, I went through that Really? Yeah, I'm not as much as really. I'd rather have to Shawn Watson, then travel Lawrence with the potential. Trevor Lawrence. I'm not giving up two first round picks it. I'm giving you Trevor Laurette. You're supposed to be a transcendent talent. Supposed to be That's I get it, And that's a known commodity. That's why I said I'd rather have to Shawn Watson. I don't think that deal would ever be able to get done because the Jaguars could say we're giving you the next. What some people are saying is the next Peyton Manning. And the Texans could say Well, we already have a top five top 67 quarterback in the league right now. So Yes, I would more so agree with you. At the Texans would have to get something else back. But the Jaguars could also say no, This is a swap one for one, and then the Texans probably don't take that trade, even with how enticing it would be. If Shawn really wanted out, and I didn't think they could find the way to rectify this situation and fix it, yeah. Trevor Laurette to be very enticing. I just don't see how that deal gets done. If the Texans are going to trade Watson, it's gonna be for what Throughout their last week, three or four, probably four first round picks. Even her Josh Cribbs. If the Texans trade to Shawn wants if they get rid of the show, Matson I could set their franchise back for 10 years. Yes, sure. They could be horrible. Yes, sure. Maybe they could draft the right quarterback. I think about what that does perception in the National Football League. Think about that. If you can't find a way to keep the show on Watson happy and I know money can cure all and some players may stay on. If you give me a contract. I'll just take it. But how many players look at that organization and go? Wow. They got rid of arguably the best wide receiver in football and DeAndre Hopkins. Arguably a top 5 to 7 quarterback in the NFL into Shawn Watson. If you're a free agent, right trace. If they basically in essence, choose Jack Easterby. Over DeAndre Hopkins and to Shawn Watson. Everyone has a price, but I wouldn't touch the Houston Texans organization. So if they trade the show, Matson And yes, you could have a bunch of picks in the future After this year where you're picking in the first round. You're picking the top five because your team is just putrid gonna budge. Was going to say that this regime gets it right in those draft picks, and what's the odds of you drafting the next to Shawn Watson? So I looked at that trade scenario. Texans and Jaguars..

"NFL Experience. Zero. He didn't play in the NFL. He's never coached in the NFL. He doesn't know the NFL, like other candidates do so. That's number one. That's a huge concern for me. Because if you're bringing in Trevor Laurence, I want to make sure I do not waste his rookie contract. That's the most valuable contract in all of sports, is the franchise quarterback on the rookie deal? Arizona is wasting Cuyler Murray with Cliff Kingsbury is the head coach. Look at what Buffalo's now getting out of Josh on. You've got to develop these guys. I would want someone with NFL head coaching experience, or at least NFL coaching experience and someone who understands what it takes to develop. An NFL quarterback, Brian Table, the offensive coordinator and Buffalo checks all those boxes. Urban Meyer's going to come in with no NFL experience. He's been out of the game for how many years And can you trust that? He's gonna be around for a while? Myron? Does he strike you as a guy who could be there in 10 years? It seems like something happens every time wherever urban Meyer goes, that forces him to end up, leaving How much longer Would he be in Jackson Hole that he would be for, say, Ohio State of Florida But Myron one things that always happen wherever he goes, is he wins college football. But Joe makes a very good point that it's different. Does he win? It is a lot different and we've seen guys who go on to that level. They haven't succeeded in the next 17 succeed, right? So I understand every concern. Here's the advantage that urban Meyer has, and here's why he's actually taking that job if he does. It's not just the number one pick. Yes, having Trevor Lauren's You wanna build around a guy like that? That's your most important question. But the $75 million of cap space that that team is going to have this off season in a pandemic is also why urban Meyer takes that job. Urban Meyer thinks that with that kind of check book He can build this team pretty quickly, and I don't know that he's wrong, Joe to think that, remember. We're not that far removed from this team with the lesser quarterback getting to the NFC championship game, So we know that it can be done if you're willing to spend, But at some point, Jacksonville decided we don't want to invest any more money in this team. And then we're just gonna let everything fall apart. $75 million in cash bases, the most cap space In the entire NFL. You're gonna have the number one pick and Trevor lawns and maybe a quarterback that you can build around for at least a decade. I think this could be a very good situation for urban Meyer to build and to bring in some really good talent around him With Trevor Laurence Joe all of a sudden a place that really wasn't a free agent destination. Maybe can be. I mean, all the sudden now you can use that tax situation down there to your advantage You could kind of say like, Ah place That was kind of considered like a hinterland, maybe with a franchise quarterback If Trevor Laurence ends up being that it becomes more attractive. Absolutely. You guys continue to lay out great reasons why it's an appealing job and I'll throw another one on top. They've got more draft picks in the top 100 than anybody but Miami. They traded away Jalen Ramsey. They traded away a J boy. They got rid of all of their key town or at least most of their key talent, and they assembled an arsenal of draft picks, so they got a ton of cash. Ton of draft picks. They're gonna have the top quarterback in the draft, too, In the eyes of many is going to be successful at the next level, and now they've got an open head coaching and open general manager position. This is the most coveted head coaching and the most coveted general manager position in the business. If This is a huge if owners shot con stays out of the way, hire good people, let them do their job. But shot is talking about how he wants to make the decisions. How he wants to be the guy who makes the selections on the draft picks and the free agent signings. Good luck with that, because while he's been extraordinarily successful in his life from a financial standpoint, it's not because he's been a great football mind running the Jacksonville Jaguars. Game day here on ESPN Radio, Matt Jones, Byron Metcalf and Joe 40 Baht. Let's switch gears for a second. I right after Indianapolis scored, they were about to kick an extra point. There was an offside so it got moved to the one yard line, and they decided to go for two. All the math nerds out there cheered, yea follow that follow the numbers, But then they didn't get it. And now it's 24 16. There's a part of me that wonders. If this game stays closed, mind if we're gonna look back and say they didn't lose because they were worse? They lost cause of decisions going forward on fourth and three, the air on the offsides. And now this Yeah, maybe making mistakes that Matt. You can't make these mistakes against the Buffalo Bills on the road in the playoffs till you just can't do that. You have to play well, you have to be efficient and you have to avoid. Big mistakes and already we've seen what for him three or four of them to this point with this Indianapolis team. Now we'll say Philip Rivers of stones, some great football's throughout this game. They've been a couple of drop passes, but Decision making is so key. We've already seen some blunders that could change this Cape. I don't disagree with the two point conversion. I know a lot of people do. But when you're down to the extent they are you playing the win the game, not tie the game. And if you're if you go into it Down two touchdowns saying to yourself, we're going to go for two on this one. That's fine, because if you get it a touchdown in an extra point wins the game if you don't get it, you take another stab at the two point conversion and you have the chance to get it there. And going forward two times in a row. Is going to give you a significant mathematical advantage because converting the two point conversion is what, like a 51% rate or something like that, 53%. I'm not gonna get bogged down with it. But when you compare the point of Conversion point after touchdown versus the two point and you do it two times in a row. Going for two is the correct play. Mathematically a lot of people hate it. I get it. They don't want math with their football, but it's the right decision. Frank Wright made I like it. Fine, but you better it better work, because if it doesn't work people don't like I mean, people just won't accept any time you go against the norm, and it doesn't work. You're opening yourself up for criticism that you wouldn't if they just put a kicker out there any Mrs that you blame the kicker. If they do this, you end up blaming the coach, But I will say this now you have the missed extra point. Missed field goal and the decision not to go for the game should be tied. I mean, if they'd made the right decision, you could make a strong argument that without the air's, the game would be tied. Instead, they're down eight. "For being with us. The paths to the 2021 College football playoff championship could not have been any different. For number one Alabama and number three Ohio State. They play Monday at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami at eight o'clock for the National championship. Here's this weekend's Jennifer Krauchanka in a season of chaos in college football. It all comes down to this. Alabama versus Ohio State for the national championship. How they got there was quite different. That was Lane Higgins of the Wall Street Journal tells US Alabama navigated the pandemic with little disruption. But OS you face nothing but disruptions. Lane. How did Nick Saban and the Crimson Tide get through covered 19 relatively unscathed? Well, we know that makes seven is coach that has assaulted process and everything he does is incredibly detail oranges, and it looks like that served him well this year with the pandemic and that he was very early on in appreciating that everyone wear masks and social distance and I think just, you know, part of the program culture. He's belted one of compliance and following rules, and it seems like that, you know, obviously paid off. We don't know if there was an outbreak among the players that Alabama because There are not really any public data from the Traverse City about testing that's been done there, but a felon, you know depth charges, availability, but 14 days it looks like almost everyone has been around for most games, which is not the case for a lot of teams and the only person we know that God drove. It is actually located himself, who had a full pound of first but then Actually about the virus leak of the Iron Bowl, and he hasn't said exactly how he thinks he got it. But it was around Thanksgiving time and viruses spiking the space on odds. It's kind of understandable. So do we think then that coach saving laid the groundwork so that players kept each other more accountable than perhaps some other teams and teams that were not in the running for a national championship. I think, though, and you know, maybe you can't say this about Alabama versus the other teams in the playoffs. But if you look at a team like Minnesota, where A. We're dealing with a pretty big outbreak right before their season started. And then once it became clear that you know they've lost a few games cases had a huge fight, And I think for a lot of teams across the country when it became clear that you know Maybe we're gonna be playing for a chance to be in the championship game. Your conference for New Year six bowl. It kind of makes you question. You know why you're making all these sacrifices? Because people in the college level it's hard enough as it is before they tell you that, you know, you can't eat a meal with any of your friends. You can't see your family. You can't be significant other and You know a lot of the team that went to the tires level the college football this year and didn't have outbreaks. There's a lot that they gave up, and I think we're now reaching the player this season. We're now that it's over. A lot of these coaches and players are opening up about, you know, just so stressful. And taxing. That was We're speaking with Lane Higgins with the Wall Street Journal. All right lane, so things were extremely different. At Ohio State of her delayed start to the season. Ohio State's season really was fits and starts all along. Right, And some of that was due to outbreaks within other teams. The big 10 so first Ohio State game against Maryland got canceled because the issues of Maryland But then Ohio State had to cancel today's Illinois because having issues there and according Todos, sonic director the positivity rate I don't have. It wasn't high enough. To necessarily trigger a program pod based on that they can't particle, but they just figured it was to try to contain this threat before it got much worse. And, you know, we don't know how bad it was. Ohio State doesn't really sit data on testing. But we do know that when l have taken place in against Michigan State, they were without something like two dozen players and many, many starters, so it's clear that whether that was contact tracing a positive test You know they were pretty undermanned, and we probably would have seen it again the following week when Ohio State was supposed to play Michigan, But Michigan had to cancel that because of a covert outbreak there so Because of that Ohio State's kind of been in this weird place where they keep trying to play games and their opponent court or they force themselves. And because the big 10 has such a lengthy returned to play protocol, which last it was 21 days until the Big 10 title game and got reduced 17 Because of that it is, you know really hard for some of these players to get back in action, Whereas someone like Trevor Lauren offices 80 see, he only had the next I think two weeks and was able T o be practicing a little bit before then. So it Just a matter of being in a conference with strict protocols that had a weird start, and then also, you know, having more cases of the virus and Alabama. Alright on paper, though I would venture that Alabama is everyone's favorite. Yeah, I mean, their offense is just so electric. It's hard to imagine anyone stopping them, but You know if anyone can maybe it'll have state and if anyone can keep up with them in my field, But again, we don't know if you're going to be healthy because he had a huge hit and likely some body damage to his torso and ribs. But we don't know because the House is not saying it won't tell us until 6 30 before the game eat so big question marks abound. That's this weekend's Jennifer Kostenko with Wall Street Journal Sports reporter Lane Higgins 30 minutes Now, after the hour on this weekend.

"And every week we give you the keys to the private jet of Katie George. I could say you could go toe one game this week. How the hell are you going to pick with, like 19 different playoff implications this week? Well, that's what I was about to say. I'm like, What the hell man? I mean, you're got me picking one game when every game has implications, so I'll try to do my best. How about how about Buffalo? Miami? I'll do that one. I love that one, if for no other reason, because we saw Fitzpatrick have a little fits magic last week, and then Brian Floors has two is my guy. And now, of course, fits is out because of covert 19. They're trying to get eligible to be in the playoffs. What do you expect from not only to us, But how much of the bills do they continue to roll out their starters in this one? Well, listen, The bills are still playing for the number two seed. So you know they do have something play for Um, build to me might be. They might be the hottest team in the league right now. I mean, they're playing phenomenal, Obviously. Josh Talyn. You know he deserves Ah, lot of consideration for M v p, the way he's been playing in the year he's had was upon Biggs and company and The defense of this stepping up. So you know, I've said for a while now I feel like the bills were the primary challenges to the The Chiefs and the A F C and then we talk about Miami. You know, with tour tools. He's been on the big stage before he's played in Big games. I think to ask. Think with Fitzpatrick not being available this week because of code the code protocol. This is a town for him to just let it loose. You don't have to worry about getting pulled from the game. Let it fly. Let it loose. You got a defense behind you. So I'm really interested to see if he just plays free and, you know, kind of Plays like the tool that we've seen on the national championship stages and back in Alabama. Damian, the Ravens take on the Bangles at one. Rather, Steelers and Browns go head to head at one o'clock as well, which fringe? A F C north team deserves to be in the playoffs more the Browns to the Ravens. I think I think people do not want to see the raisins in the playoffs. Beijing like right now. The Ravens are finding their form. Lamar Jackson is looking like Mark Jackson from its NDP season. Last year s O Was for May I would say the Cleveland Browns are great story. I would love to see Cleveland in the playoffs just for the fans of the Cleveland Browns. Not being the Baltimore Ravens right now is the team they get in the playoffs. Boy, people do not want to see them Damien Woody, joining Peter Burns and Katie George here and best week ever. It's interesting because there's so much pressure right now on a bunch of different teams, Of course, pressure on two way to get these guys into the playoffs with no Fitzpatrick. You just talked about it. But who's got the more pressure on him? Is it Mason Rudolph in the Steelers, trying to just kind of stopped this this late slide of the season? Or is it Cleveland who Absolutely stub their toes against the Jets and now could potentially missed the playoffs and then not after having a fantastic season. I think the pressure's all on Cleveland. Listen, Steelers are in. Regardless, it doesn't matter. Steals are in Browns on India. They got this still playing their way into the tournament and you're playing against the back of quarterback. After you had a head act. You got beat by suggest the week prior. So all the pressure in the world is on a clean record. They getting all of the guys back from covert protocols as well. So Told to me all the pressure's on on the Coon brown. You can't be. It can't be the Pittsburgh stewed with Mesa Rudolph the quarterback. You don't you don't deserve to be in the playoffs. Damian Washington plays Philadelphia. And then you've got the Cowboys and the Giants going head to head I'm curious is dysfunctional NFC East. On those teams. Who do you think could win a playoff game it there to make it through? Oh, Wow. Um Just a silence, Damon. The fact that you say it, Zez says enough, right in the fat in the fact that we have no idea that even if our Smith goes today, none of these teams make a run right? This is like the equivalent of expanding the college football playoff. The eight seeds In saying, Hey, the eight seed has a chance to win the title. It truly doesn't correct. Well, I mean, listen, all of those teams are disgusting. To be honest with you like they like. I mean, the fact that one of these teams is probably gonna win a division with seven wins, Max or something like that. It's just Is this crazy to think of, but Um I want to say I'm gonna I'm gonna say Washington. I want to say Washington football team on Lee because you got Alex Smith is available. You got a veteran guy? And then their defense. They're different can can just terrorized pulse and get after you. So I'm going to say Washington. But that whole division just thinks it's fair enough, right? And now you do what's interesting enough? As I said about Hey, does it really matter? I go back and look, there's only been two teams ever that have made the playoffs and that at least in recent history Of under 500 that goes but 2014 Panthers and then the 2010 Seahawks, I think, remember that was like a seven and nine team. If I'm not mistaken and get both of those teams that were under 500, they actually won their first playoff game, believe or not just kind of crazy. Um, Damien, I wanna want to kind of switch gears a little bit as well. We know Trevor Laurence. I would imagine. We know Trevor Lauren's going to go number one overall to the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, what you saw at a Justin Fields. Is that gonna be enough for Jets fans to all of a sudden pick up and go? Oh, here we go. I mean, how much should see him. Donald be sweating this morning. What I think the Jets are in Are in a great position. GM Jo Douglas is in a great position because that performance by Justin Fields It's just Made that number two pick even more enticing. And so, you know. Listen, if you're saying don't know I mean, you still you know a lot of these games that I know have playoff implications, but Them. Donald Steele, trying to he's still auditioning. No today against the Patriots. So you know, with the whole 50 years, um Option Loman. The just have a lot of decisions to make obviously gonna have a new coach, so I don't know which direction they're going to go. I know that GM Jo Douglas is very fondest Sam Donald And they want, you know they want to try to build around him, possibly. But Man when you got Justin feels play the way that he did. You got the Wilson kid from from BYU who's had a fantastic season? I mean, there are options. There are options at at number two, and that's and that's great for the Jets organization. To be honest with you Give me an opportunity to trade down because somebody's going to need a quarterback and someone's going to take a look at it and get infatuated with what Justin Fields did and say, Hey, listen, What do you want? You can trade back down. If you do want to get a quarterback, perhaps you can get Zach Wilson. Yes, Katie. I mean, I'll be curious real quick. Before we let you go to ask your opinion on this. We we've seen Ryan Days name come up. We've seen Urban Meyer's name come up in association to possibly taking over for the JAG wires. Do you think? College coaches..

"Apathetic balances trouble. Lawrence's Sam Darnel with longer hair. But stop with the hot Take Arnie. The media hasn't vested too much into Lawrence. The great hope to Shawn Watson didn't get the same media love his lords, or he would never fall into the draft. Actually, what he's saying is, he's agreeing with me. I'm not about to Triple Lawrence's Sam darling with long hair I had She loved Trevor warrants to be honest with you. And I just want to know that if you thought maybe that Justin Fields, especially, I'm surprised you said that tours, especially Because of urban Meyer does take the job with the Ohio State connection, how there won't be, and you don't think there's going to be any insider going to go in pair those two together, So let me ask you some questions. Why wouldn't you just take the Jets job that way? You don't have to be the guy that passed up on Trevor Laurence. There's a I saw somebody put on Twitter jets may get the quarterback that they want. They've had the Getty. But if your urban Meyer and you know that there's gonna be public pressure is authentic, Allen says. He's the great hope can't pass up on him. Then take the jet. Stop. If you really want Justin Field. I just don't know why you won't put your money where your mouth is. You talk this big talk, And then all of a sudden, I ask you. I'm not saying that it's gonna come out that way. I'm just saying that the gap is a lot closer and there's more the bait after what he did in the semifinal game I need to take that performance was fantastic by Justin Fields. He was. It was awesome member. They when you're a seven point favorite is your birdie say you have, like a 75% chance of winning the game or else they came in, and they crush them. Absolutely crushed him in just a fields was a big part of that He was fantastic tourists. By the way, you only read the tweets that favor you because Darryl just said Torrez is right. He isn't making an excuse for Trevor Laurence. I thought the same thing myself when I said that I thought that they should pull Trevor Lauren because they were gonna get him killed out there. The game was over a comeback wasn't going to happen with Ohio State was moving the ball and the lack of protection for Trevor Laurence. Is wrong. Good job, Darryl. I'm with you, my man. Thank you, Darryl. Is it what today put it a new offensive line for that game. I mean, this is that there was no offensive white problems. The last couple of years. I think Ohio State put in a new defensive. I think they recruited some guys from the Browns or something, cause I haven't seen that defensive line all year way. Certainly got more college to get to Texas. Has made a change, and it's costing them a lot of dough. Torre's unbelievable talk to Taylor Estes from horns 24 7, That's coming up. Next. "That was a high scoring game there so you can put up points on Alabama. Is Ohio State going to be able to do? That is a different question. But Man. I mean, for Ohio State to come out like that, with all the doubt that they had, That's a wonderful win. And for Ryan Day that stock just keeps getting higher and higher And you wonder at some point Maybe even this season. You hear about Ryan Day going to the NFL? Let me lay out a little scenario here because I'm fortunate enough to have my producer James Chris fo in the room. So, Chris Fo you're a Jets fan. And for that, I'm sorry, but I want to present a scenario for you that I think you'll enjoy you interested? Sure. Go ahead. Okay. So here if you said no, that would have been devastating. I probably already have had the scenario or thought in my head already. Okay, so Ryan Day Head coach of the New York Jets. Justin Fields, quarterback of the New York Jets, your thoughts. I'm not overly thrilled. I gotta be honest with you Really? Throw No. Okay. No. So who would you want? I mean, Because now Lawrence is off the board. You're not going to get him as a jets fan. It would you have. How do I know that? Oh, Here we go. Okay, So you don't think Jackson was gonna take Lawrence? What if Jackson hires Urban Meyer? Okay. Is Urban Meyer gonna go fields? You think that's the case? Look I would love it. Just so you know, you see this Sounds like you're just trying to find ways to get large down there. If it sure like you're fishing a little Well, things things went well for for my team tonight. I mean, the thing things one is possible greatest, they possibly could have Trevor Lauren's didn't light it up just in the fields did If the Jets want to move down, and somebody wants to come and take Justin Fields, they could do that, or they could just take him. Whatever they want to do. Okay, okay. And you know that is a fun element of this And it's something we might as well talk about is the idea. Does anything change with Trevor Lawrence's draft? Stock? Does it? Move it all? Do you go? Probably not. It shouldn't it shouldn't it shouldn't. It should not if anybody is looking at this, especially a talent evaluator. In Jacksonville, where them? I mean, the mayor of Jacksonville's already bought his trumpet again. What is the mayor of Jackson will know between me. You and the lamppost? Nothing. Well, what does any politician No ping?
