"For your dodgers. The one thing you don't wanna have happened is lose three out of four full further back in the race to san francisco and then here comes lowly colorado in town. You gotta immediately get your head out of your well. I mean you know what i'm saying. You gotta you gotta get your head together and you gotta start banking some wins here. If you're the dodgers because the giants have just not sloan down. But clinton i. I'm i gotta say right now. This is going to be the least popular opinion. I know i'm going to be in the minority here. I'm not ready to give up on kenley jansen just yet. I know dodger fans booed coming in. They booed him leaving last night. I'm in a very small camp clinton. But i'm not ready to give up on him. Yeah i mean it's not about. It's not about whether or not it gets booed again. Like this is one of the things that i think is difficult for a lot of people to get their heads around. Is that like yo. It's not about what everybody likes all the time. What's working and what's not and in this particular case like i said because of exactly what you mentioned scott like. They're running out of real estate. You gotta start winning some games like literally for the wind in the loss column. Not just to sort of prove to yourself. That are more talented like there's a race here happening for reason and all of the games count the same and so for me. Look if you're dropping your win probability by running the guy out there who probably needs a little time off. That's just not smart. It doesn't matter how much anybody likes anybody or how much you guys getting booed. You've got to give yourself the best chance greg and right now. I just don't think that. Ken lee is the guy you want. I mean you sit him series. That's there's nothing wrong with that. You know what i mean and figure it out because you can't do that right then because like i said. Winds are at a premium in this debate. Yeah he definitely needs to sit whatever time it is but let me hold on scott you saying that you are on the side of kenley jansen. You don't go away from him right. That's that's your view. You stick with kenley jansen. Yeah you see. The thing is greg is that two games doesn't really do much for me. Sure okay that's all games. Three games doesn't really knocked me out. And what i do is i'm trying to be patient here and i'm trying to think about it over the course of the entire season. I'm not trying to be so reactionary right now by the way i'm emotional high and low guy i mean the series is over a series is over. You win a game like done. They're they're going to win. They lose a game. I'm like oh my god they're finish. I'm emotional like that. But the only thing i'm going to say is is that when i look at last night. If i were sitting there like dave roberts and trying to figure out what happened here. Wait wait wait wait. Wait wait wait. We need to go back just a little bit. I'm sorry. I said look you are doing this because you are a san diego padres fan that wants the dodgers to lose. So what's happening here. Let's keep klay hilton forever. Like saying i want them to lose forever. You saying that you want kenley jansen to stay is because of being padre fan and wanting the dodgers okay. Listen to me i love. What you're saying is true. okay. I love what you're saying okay. But you're actually not right on this one although that's actually a really smart perspective which is if you are a padre fan or if you are a giants fan you should be having this opinion of. Hey what are you. Give up on kenley for because really what you should be saying like. Hey the more he pitches the more they're going to blow save so yeah. I support kenley but actually. That's not really where i'm coming from. Where i'm coming from is i watched the end of trevor hoffman's career as just by way of example and you know every single time. Trevor hoffman. went out there. We didn't really feel all that confident. He blew a lot of big saves. lost a playoff series through a blown. Save by the way to tony. Gwynn's son. I'm just telling you that i watched this once before how fans react to a great career. Closer who starts to struggle a bit towards the end of his career and i saw fans give up on that player. And it's it's really not coming from a place of i. Hope the dodgers lose so keep putting kenley out there. It's coming from a place of last night can we can. We not agree on this. There were a lot of other factors besides just kenley jansen. He wasn't going to one day. You're going to one night. It look if mark milan-san who is the closer for the padres. If he did this where he blew three saves in one week while you were fighting for first place you would be losing your mind. But i also don't have the history in milan doesn't have the history for me to have the trust and belief in him to get it together. This is the history is not that important sidebar. Mark melanson nice guy saw in denver at the all star game but like the. The effectiveness is important here because listen. You're not necessarily. I mean you're not dismissing kinley from the roster you need them at some point and so. That's i didn't as far as greg said earlier when it's like well okay. Maybe i don't trust him in the playoffs now but it's not the playoffs. I wanna make sure that whatever he needs to work on to get it together can happen by the time you would need him anyway in so like. That's another reason why sitting somebody is not that big a deal to me like it's a long season bro. You know you're gonna have dips and dives. I don't need to like. I don't know that putting him on the bench means that you're not sticking with him if that make sense you know what i mean. Total decision in terms of who you are and what you want out of kinley. He's at the end of his career. It's as much a matter of simply gas tank. I think at this point of the season as anything with being able to be hit zone you know and i like the two things are correlated. Obviously so yes. Sit them down. Give him a rest. It doesn't mean that you've got complete no-confidence enemies at this stage of the season. You're managing your men differently and that to me is what's smart. Leadership does not necessarily well picking favorites at any given moment. We'll go out like this. I love you calling saying that you know it's totally cool. I have no issue with at all. I can't hide it. I can't deny it. I can't lie about it. I mean look but it's really not it's not like hey you know what i really wanna see keep trotting him out there because the more you put them out there the worst. It's going to become for the dodgers and the better it's going to become for the padres. It's really not coming from that place. Although that was a very smart thing to say..

"I so honestly answer this question there until the end. My friend lively boos rained down. Kenley jails believe you do not believe that you are not at present heading for the exits before the final normally. When i when i go to games i take a picture of the scoreboard on my way out. roof that we didn't do that knocking. I promise you i was there. I promise you. I was there who can win. It all fell apart. Who who will. Who will validate the fact that the till the end. The only person that can do it is one. I think one will be honest. I do there will be on if you have two years. After the dodgers the lead. I think you left. I don't think he stayed for the bottom of the ninth. Absolutely not of course. I stayed for the. I don't understand believing of the games early. That never came early. What are you talking about. And i start with this the because and i bought a dodger dog last night. Okay crap just crap. I can't stand the confirmation bias you already thought it was going to be crap before you bought it so instead. I got the carney assadi carney asada helmet nachos and a brisket sandwich which was fantastic with coleslaw. We'll set up the second aiming point where you're required to wear a mask once you set foot inside the stadium inside the stadium. No because it's all outdoors. Okay yes so i was. I was covered in that scenario. Worst viewed as an outdoor venue. Okay so even though servers. Were not wearing masks. No the servers were wearing masks. I think generally speaking servers in most places are now wearing masks because of the Because of this new thing that we got going on but everybody else free and clear because it's an outdoor venue and they still haven't changed the rules for that and it's nice to be out there with a whole bunch of people screaming our heads all tell you this much john i was. I cannot understand booing your own player. I don't understand why a guy who saved twenty one of twenty five games a guy who has been the stalwart of your bullpen. A guy that's one of the most important reasons you've won fifty nine games this year. You would boo. you wouldn't boom mariana. You wouldn't boo trevor hoffman. You wouldn't boo de grills guys are in the hall of fame right well. Kenley jansen is the all time franchise save leader for the dodgers. Nobody has saved more games than kenley. Jansen and yet people are so quick trigger. he obviously didn't have it. the cutter wasn't caught did not have i was looking at the board. He was in the low nineties. He wasn't in the mid nineties like he's been so he obviously wasn't dominating but booing him i think is one unfair and to not good for the long term mental health kenley jansen so you don't think fan should ever do their own team. I think they have a right to i. Don't think they should. I would never do my own team..

"Which is always interesting. He's going to call in and talk to us at 10 07 I know it is with Jean what happened to him over the weekend, and I've been waiting just to kind of All right. I'll be honest. I've been waiting for him to say I could tell what happened to the respect. I may have jumped the gun a little bit and I but instead of us, describing what happened to him? Over the weekend will let him tell the story. So 10 07 the guy who usually sits in this chair at this time, so some of you texted and said You're going to tell us what happened to Steve or not. And so does he introduced you then at 10 07 Are you introduced way? Gotta figure that out. So it'll say, Here's Steve school feeding then we just put him on. And then he can just run with it and something like that. You and I were talking. We're getting off on to a vice presidential announcement kind of rant here. Beaten path, but that's okay. There have been some riel. We gotta look up. Other ones. Remember? You brought this one of Ross Perot. Remember Ross Perot selection. Stockdale. He was a mill admiral with James Stockdale. He died recently. Stockton. I believe that was it. But then then you heads Stockdale during the debate. Remember, he had a rough debate. He was in the middle. It was It was Al Gore. Stockdale and Dan Quayle, right? Clinton, Paro and Bush in the VP debate, and Stockdale is in the middle and at one point He hadn't spoken for awhile because it was kind of a gore quail back and forth, and then They asked him a question and he goes. I'm sorry. I had my hearing aid turned down and then the other point where somebody said they're here, he says. I know many of you are thinking, who am I? Why am I here and then Phil Hartman parody and beautifully on Saturday night live theirs. We may have to circle back tomorrow with some great moments. That's what we'll do great moments, VP announcement history or the music because somebody of Mitch said that Whoever Biden picks should come out of the Miller Park bullpen to the Sound of Hell's Bells. What Trevor Hoffman did a couple of years He was a brewer. That could be that could be how do you do it In this case, though, when it's When you're in a pandemic, and it's always a zoom call. You gotta You gotta put her right, presumably hurry in front of people, right? She's got to be in front of socially distance people. You can't just have her come out and zoom call. Yeah, because you need to capture that moment. You need to capture the moment now, could you do it? Have AH, airplane hangar style situation and make sure people are distanced. I don't e. I think you try to do something like that right cause that generates excitement and buzz. You can't do it. We're almost on the zoom calls sideways vertical instead of ours on home accidentally muted. He's on his back porch with the geese is going to find that clip again. But so anyway, we'll see how it's Ah, how it's Rolled out here in the not too distant future way inch closer to the start.

"Radio Network. Relaunched the network back in nineteen eighty eight and it was something that grew out of the show that I was doing locally in San Francisco and I had a guest on the caller called and said you know Ron. I've waited thirty five years to talk to this gas in your finally giving me a chance. Now this was a local show and I thought about a thought about it and I was doing tennis assignment with Billie Jean King on television and I said to her you know. I've got this idea for national sports. Talk Radio Network and I don't know whether to do it or not. I'm not a business man. I've never done something like this. And of course if you know anything about bid Billie Jean King then you know that. She is very special and she looked at me. And she said Ron. I think I know you well enough. You Never WanNa look over your shoulder and wonder if you could have and you know she was absolutely right about that and so we launched it then a short time later in one thousand nine hundred eighty eight and of course it was only twelve radio stations. Two hours a night Monday through Friday and then it grew to over nights and then it grew into twenty four hours a day seven days a week when we add it serious what turned out to be Sirius. Xm Radio and now we're on ten different platforms. Were on airline in flight programming as well so I can only say thank you to. Everybody has been so gracious and so kind to me over the years. We're going to kick things off talking baseball with. Trevor Hoffman now hall of fame. Relief Pitcher. Who played more than fifteen of his eighteen years in the majors with San Diego. He was the major leagues. First Pitcher to reach the five hundred and six hundred save milestones and he was the all time saves leader from two thousand six until two thousand eleven and of course. His Dad was a marine professional singer. And also an usher at Angels Games and then right after that he was an NFL official for twenty two years. I'm talking about Jeff Triplett. And he became an official in Nineteen ninety-six and he retired after the two thousand seventeen season. He retired as an army reserve colonel and he received the Bronze Star for actions in the Persian Gulf War so to outstanding guests who are ready to crank up so when we come back. Can you name another third baseman. For the Atlanta Braves Chipper Jones played there for so long. It's hard to believe is already been gone on for five years at Freddy Freeman. Did a good job before moving over across the infield there in Atlanta's got plenty of talent between Albee's Swanson they're going to be able to find third baseman. I remember guys like Bob. For so long now the Yankees had like five guys like that five guys that were there for for the entire run and only one of them. Andy Pettitte Arianna were there. The rich got Richard with that particular ballclub. Chili Davis Worse. I Jim told me it. Trevor Hoffman was for a very long time in the shadow of Tony. Gwynn but Tony gwynn retired. You you know passed away. Obviously and trevor often kept on saving games now he pitched rather teams as well told me left. "He was the best of what he did a ticket in Mariano Rivera and Trevor Hoffman be disqualified somehow because they didn't start games or they didn't pitch more than one two or three innings. It's been a position now for forty five years. It's a position and he's one of the best. If not the best added in the history of baseball. So you know, what he's in no complaints. Real quick. We got a minute left. The two guys Harford Machado seems like we talk maybe once a month and every time he comes up and I'm thinking well by the next time. I talked to you Rick. They'll be signed. I'm still not what's going on. Well, it's a very different world out there with free agents because there's a there's a couple of other ones out there too. And I'm really surprised that if you look at all the division winners from last year. They haven't improved themselves very much. They haven't know got the big ticket guy. Whether it's a trade or or free agent. You know, when we last spoke, you know, we I talked about the three reasons Machado might not come to the Yankees that. Hey, you wanna be the face of the franchise being you wanna play your regular position and see? You want to get the maximum contract. And I didn't think that would be possible with the Angie's. Well, you know, what it looks like it's not possible anywhere else. And you can never count the Yankees out one thing. I'll leave you with Richard the Yankees are never done. That is true. That is true. And you know as much as we're decrying Machado and Harper, you know, far for play centerfield for the Yankees next year. Would we be shocked? I would be. But would we be surprised? I don't know. Thank you, Rick. We will talk again soon. Maybe when these guys do get sign we'll figure out where they go. And we'll analyze that. Thank all, I'm here. And hey, a shout out to Jay Harwich, my longtime friend and colleague who tonight is getting the long and meritorious service award from the baseball writers. And of course, we'll never forget, the famous J Horowitz glass table story will all boys. We'll tell that sometime we will. All right for us for Rick's Rhone. We will be back with your phone calls. "Understand fully mortgage confidently. Eight five five two one two four CBS is the phone number. If you wanna give us a call him on Twitter, sportswriter, sports REIT are we're going to get back to some other topics and moment may in five minutes or so sneaky little five things, but do want to continue this conversation and give the folks who have been on hold for a really long time. The chance to have their perspective hurt if you're just tuning in. We have been talking for a big chunk of the show today about my maybe irrational, it certainly passionate perspective that Mariano Rivera 's in into the hall of fame his his the honor that he has car for himself was all well and good and deserved. Until for me. He got that hundred percent, Mark and became the first and only to date unanimous hall of Famer in the history of the game. And we've been tackling it arguing about it talking about it the meaning of greatness traditions in baseball. Mariana Rivera weather. I'm a crazy person for a while now, and we're gonna keep doing it. Eight five five two one two four CBS by hitting some more phone calls because we love it. When you guys are part of the show. We appreciate you and Rudy in Pennsylvania. I am. I am. Sorry. You waited so long. I appreciate you waited so long you're on CBS sports radio. Yeah. My question to you. If you're angry about him being one hundred percent, or if you had a hall of fame vote with you voter for their. Yeah. We this earlier Rudy thanks for the call. And I told her very sort of long winded story about when I once at a vote for the MVP in in the year. I didn't is the year that I would have been the lone vote for LeBron James, and I would not have voted for Russell Westbrook two years ago. And so all of which is to say I have had votes for all the awards in the NBA for a stretch. I took it very seriously. I thought the weight of the responsibility was important, but I never ever wanted to make a decision based on what my colleagues were doing. I asked everybody on earth. Who they thought I should vote for in the NBA except for other media members. I talked to GM's I talked to coaches I talked to players I talked to scouts. I talked to former players. But I would never be swayed. I wanted to have my own authentic perspective on and not be. I'd still want the politics of to influence me. So I think I would probably not have. Yes, I think the answer is I would not have voted for him. But I don't know because I haven't been a voter for that award. And I probably would have like a lot of those voters back in the day have been as committed to the traditions of that vote, and why it never been hundred percent and passing that along as I would the idea of voting for the right person at the right time. And whether that's Mariana or not, and my perspective is he should not have been on percent voter. So my answer to you is I hope I would have had the courage of my convictions. But I don't know because I'm not going to be held accountable in a way that I would be had I been the lone vote against it. Eight five five two one two four CBS Ben in Colorado Springs. Thank you for listening. You're on CBS sports radio. I just got to start off by telling you. You're not crazy. Thank you. But I say this maybe it's me personally as similar to you a growing up as a Colorado fan mind highlights and also another question someone said the age brackets there. I'm a millennial. So there's that for a demographic check for someone who's asking that earlier. But O'neil, and I dunno. I the whole thing. It doesn't make sense in a world where Jackie Robinson isn't a first ballot hammer or unanimous where Roberto Clemente is not a unanimous to give it to Mariano Rivera who played closer Mariano Rivera is the greatest closer of all time. He's a fantastic baseball player. His personal story is fantastic. But he if he does not have pinstripes on him. He's barely. Here's a chance. He's my he's not even a first ballot hall of Famer at all. I completely agree with everything you just said, I think that's absolutely right. A hundred percent, right. And they give her the phone call. I could not I could not agree more. Now. Here's a perspective. Right. Mariana Rivera is is not even considered is the greatest closer in the history of baseball. Who's the second greatest closer? Trevor hoffman. How many ballots did a take Trevor Hoffman and getting hall of fame? If closers such a renowned position if the greatest closer argument is the reason this guy should be unanimous. The Trevor Hoffman got on the first ballot, right? I right. No now second-ballot second third. Ballot. Got it on the third ballot. Well, what are we talking about here? And he got it was seventy nine point nine percent of the vote. That was a year ago. Twenty years ago all year ago, the best closer to ever be up for the hall of fame took three ballots, and then the first year Rivera's available. He's he's unanimous. And that's not about the Yankees. Give me a break. I may sound like a sometimes it wasn't born yesterday. I mean, come on. Yankees fans who are seeing this as the prisoner of their team, I respect it. But where were those guys talk about Trevor Hoffman a year ago? I'm around some of those guys I did radio shows around some of those guys. I mean if Trevor Hoffman's a third ballot hall of Famer Mariana Rivera's nutty unanimous first ballot or come on. I mean, come on. Greg Maddux in Myra, Jack, Greg medics Jackie Robinson. Ted williams. Willie Mays Babe Ruth sei-yung. Come on. I got mad again. Eight five five two one two four CBS Robert in Ventura, California. Hope life is good on the west coast. Brother, you're on CBS sports radio. Mr. writer whose writer to me. I like, your charisma and your honesty, dude. Hey, listen. We all got a all stink them pinions. Started state. What I'm getting at is. No disrespect. But let me tell you something. If you're going to be honored percent at anything in life, period. You better be shooting for honored and twenty there's no way in hell this mash, people number one. All everything should have never walked any watch. He should never ever gave up a base. It should never even gave up. Law or blowing say Trump might be close. But it's outrageous. And look where he's coming from. I am prejudiced about that. I think that had a lot to do with it. But anyway. Thanks. I think the Yankees things a big part of it. And I celebrate the human being that Mariano Rivera is great guy. I mean, great guy I interviewed Tony Dungy yesterday gray guy at doesn't have anything to do with it. Pete Rose is not a great guy. And when the news came out a year a year and a half ago when I was doing this radio show about the accusations involving rose and a teenage girl when he was a player I again and again. Screen in his microphone. Fox has got a fire have the courage to fire. You should still be in the hall of fame. The standards are different. I'm a I'm the funny thing is Mariano Rivera fan not a Yankees fan. But that's a guy that always almost loved because of his character and his calm under pressure. That doesn't in my opinion, make him worthy of this honor. It just doesn't. I think the Yankees thing is a big part of it. And that's fine. I mean, I get it. There are Lakers in there are Celtics who are in the hall of fame, the probably wouldn't be they played for the Milwaukee Bucks. That's that's part of the deal. That's part of the way it goes. That's just that's the reality. But the hundred percent thing is what just drives me crazy. Eight five five two one two four CBS Jordan in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and beautiful. What's up, man? You're on CBS sports radio. Hey, Bill time caller loved the show. Man, you go great job, especially love, how how you cover the NBA. But I wanted to talk about this topic, obviously. And you know, when I think of a first ballot hall of Famer in regards to the MLB. I mean, it's hard to argue against you know, you have the Babe Ruth, Ty, Cobb the Ted Williams, unfortunately, a little too young to have any appreciation over players like that. But when I think I balance one hundred percent, I mean, don't you have to include players like Cal Ripken junior or someone like that absolute white out there every game. Like an ironman streak or something like that. Like, I mean, how can you one hundred percent vote versus the Mariano Rivera vote. So that's just my point and keep doing your thing. Bill. Love your show. Hey, Jordan, very kind of you, man. Very very kind of you. Appreciate you, very very nice of you and a Iran tweeted, sportswriter sports are sports writer wouldn't have voted for Mariana Rivera for the baseball hall, man. This is tough radio listening tonight time to hit the bar have a drink for me. And try next. Maybe listen to a little bit of the nuanced. I hope that I present into perspective have a drink from. And thank you for. Thank you a Ron for listening. I appreciate you. Daniel in Louisiana. What's up, brother? You're on CBS sports radio. Not much, man. I'm sorry. I just really want to ask you end up. You're this upset about Rivera Alps over you carry won MVP. So you're thirsty. History. I voted for Kerry have over that. I voted for Steph, but the MVP award didn't stretch back a century. And it wasn't established under the precedent that this was the case totally fair. Totally fair question didn't bother me one bit. Because it wasn't a part of the way that the the game was set up. Nobody has an MBA voter put in a blank ballot in its history to make sure it wouldn't happen. Yeah. I've I voted I've I was one of the voters for curry in both of his MVP's and point if I thought that you're wasn't curry and everybody news, giving unanimous. I would have voted for somebody else. I thought he was the guy fair question. Thanks for the question. Eight five five to one two four CBS. Let's close it with a New York phone call. Let's close it even though I don't agree with I'm assuming someone who's going to stick up for MO and talk to us about his greatness as excellent perhaps why they think I'm wrong. I don't want. You didn't want to go to because you see because. And. I mean, they really wasn't. You should not happy. Because anybody in history to be. You're percent. In the history of the game. I'm sorry. I lied. I can't have the last word. I try and thank you for the kind words in the history of baseball. I don't know, man. I mean, I'd go Willie Mays probably Ted Williams as my one eight one b. All right. I said that was the last word, but a bunch of you want to keep talking about. It's your show eight five five two one two four CBS. If we could redo it you are wrong. I mean, come on. Come on. All right. Eight five five two one two four CBS. We'll keep taking your phone calls and talking about this topic. Yeah. "I mean, I was at that game. It was eleven years old. I was rooting for the keys at the time. I was quite happy with the outcome of that pitch. But I was not even aware that that pitch had taken Hon. This kind of legacy in the memories of Padres fans because it really wasn't that it wasn't like game seven, and it's the bottom of the ninth or something it was game. One against one of the best teams of all time patriots were probably not gonna win that series. Even if the pitch went their way, but the fact that this has become a big thing that you can just say the pitch to Padres fans. Evidently, they know that it's this pitch. It's because we'll they haven't been back in twenty years since. So what else are you going to do the, you know, alternate history of because they haven't gotten anywhere close to to that point in your sense. You know, I know exactly where it was on the pitch happened. And I think part of the reason why that sticks is obviously the point just mentioned where we don't have too many moments like that there's a Matt Holliday at home plate, which would be probably up there right with it. But of course, that was the plane game for the playoffs. It wasn't the World Series. You know, I think part of part of it is too. Yeah, we got swept in that World Series. But if you squint hard enough, and if you go with me here, you know, that pitch the Tino Martinez would have been strike three. It would have ended the inning the Padres. I believe up four and so that grand slam tied the game. And so a foreign lead going to the Padres vaunted bullpen that year, we might have snuck out game one. And of course, obviously, there are many ways could turn out, but and then Trevor Hoffman blue game three at home. Right. And obviously, I can't snap my fingers and get rid of a blown save. But at least from if you're following your fan graphs, a winning percentage graph live during those games, obviously fan Guston exist ninety eight, but if you had been I think he would have been surprised at how close you know, that series actually was for being a sweep. And so as a Padres fan, I can look back and be like man, it was almost a to series. If that one pitch was called differently in Trevor Hoffman had didn't blow of game three. We would have been right in this World Series. It's just kind of the woulda coulda shoulda that offers fans do for everything include. Adding, I dunno trading Robbie Alamar and the list goes trading, Anthony Rizzo the list goes on and on. But yeah, that that pitches certainly taken a lot of Lor. I think part of it is the fact that the Padres after the World Series that year put out a documentary about the season. It was actually very well done documentary, and they focused on that pitch so much that documentary that any of the the diehard fans who got that documentary for Christmas following year. Like I did. And you watch that a couple times growing up. You just is stuck with you because they focused on it so much, but he asked right through the Tino Martinez. Everyone everyone who's at Padres van should know that we all remember it. So in to the seven I was I grew up in San Diego net, a friend of mine is big Badran's van, and he and his family got their first ever AD TV, and they were plugging it in and they turned it on. So that they could watch game one sixty three Piedras Rockies. Eight six Padres going into the bottom of the thirteenth at Indy to remind you what happened you already burned up. But I think that I think that HDTV. Has had a negative association in that family Ford for going on years now. So I wanted to ask and this is this is going to be kind of subjective..

Should Dale Murphy be in the hall of fame?

"Straight. Talk brought to you by straight talk wireless, best phones, best networks, no contracts. So I'll said, so the guest we're efforting is right Thompson, who has a phenomenal piece in ESPN the magazine this week about Dale Murphy and how there's this whole generation, particularly in the southeast who believes domer- for should be in the hall of fame. The baseball hall of fame induction ceremony is Sunday. It'll be Jack Morris, Alan Trammell Vladimir Guerrero who mentioned earlier who would be wiffle ball player. Jim Thome who'd had a can o Jim Thome e who should be on everyone's all time. Looks like you should be on your softball league team Griffin, rip Chipper Jones. And Trevor Hoffman. And we're in the funny Marty when you get to certain age, it's like the guys you watch their entire career another. Yeah, it makes me feel really old. Like what those guys are going in. The hall of fame, right? Trevor Hoffman was the I was he liked the first real closer. I guess maybe Dennis Eckersley might have been the first real closer, but Hoffman was at the guy that I remember that came in and just therm nothing but smoke. Yeah, and but then like got crafty and he's of the group. He's probably the most is numbers are crazy, but of the group. He's the one that people seem to have the most reservations about, but he was there man like there was who else were the lease? Myth lease myth hall of fame, John rocker, John rocker. John rocker lasted a second, wasn't he closer though? He was starter was who's closer goose Gossage hit Googlers. Goose was the first goose was the first one of my life that was just was like just came. Just came in throwing smoke and. Yeah, but those closers were the best, but then but then you had the guys that were like great and then weren't so great. Like Bruce, Bruce suitor closer, Billy Wagner. Billy Wagner was the man son? Yeah, Billy Wagner grew up near me. He's from tazewell Virginia. Went to Fareham college. The little teeny, tiny Fareham college, of course, Moran Rivera, but goose was the one hour reduces the one that came along and I thought and then other ones, though there's some other ones that are scaping me right now that. When unique personalities when we look like maybe not kids. But as we were getting on towards high school college, they were some guys, I'll think of it as we go. I'm still working on joslin. Trying to think. Francisco rodriguez. I mean lease myth, I love Lee Smith lease. Myth is a really good call man. He's tall. Yeah, right. Eckersley was the guy probably though. Yeah, see. I'm so old armor when he was was a decent starter, but. Why didn't he? Yeah, you break. I want to Braise about small malts basically two different careers, which is wise in the hall of fame so. So bring up del Murphy because of the peace right Thompson road and full disclosure, I'm sitting in my office right now with a framed portrait of del Murphy, like standing in front of the American flag, holding his golden glove. And so, yeah, if you grew up in the part of the world we did and this is the super station era. And I, I knew so much about the cubs and the Braves, both because you watch them on television every day. You watch cubs in the morning. Watch brazen night. I went to a cubs cubs Braves game one time with the church youth groups that with girl, and I thought she would be impressed at my overwhelming knowledge of both teams and all scare. I mean, because if you watch both of those teams every single day all summer long, you know, every summer of youth it became will you know when Rafael Ramirez the plate and I'm going well, you know, he really struggles on so. And so or about Bob Horner. Yeah. Bob Horner, Jeff, Treadway Jeff Treadway. Wow. Cam Zane Smith?.
