"I use A sit in the bleachers. Right over there as a kid with Vin scully on the radio and And my headphones and with my dad watching Bp dodger game and stuff like that so been a long time dodger. Fan can be more excited to be here and with The group that we have and excited to get on the field here shortly Process took a while but can be happy with how it turned out and Excited to get going. So that's what i got lizzie. You just said he finally changed. You covered him when he was in. Cleveland what do you mean by that. No no no i was. I didn't know that you guys could hear me to jorges said that. When he mentioned like sitting in the bleachers he pointed at the home run section. And i said well it's probably changed since he's hinson seeded that right. Didn't they remodel it. Yeah but you. The pavilions is where everybody sat. those have always been the cheap seats so it might guess what he was making reference to later he was. What made you decide the dodgers. Why'd you pick the dodgers who honestly Locale didn't really have much to didn't play much of a factor is all about the organization the talent level. That's here The organizational structure Systems that are in place the people that are here And just i. I've talked a lot of people that have played here Let people have played for dog and a lot of people that play for. Andrew and just in general Been associated with dodge organization. And i haven't i haven't heard a single negative thing. Everyone has glowing reviews A lot of people have told me you know if you can if you can play for the dodgers you should First class Best that i've ever experienced. So i just excited to be here for those reasons Excited to be part of the group. Obviously you know. The talent on the field speaks for itself. That's an extremely talented group and extremely good group of guys By all accounts. And i'm just. I'm excited to meet everybody and and kind of being the fold and try to try to win another world series. Bauer is a controversial guy everywhere. He's pitched he's ruffled feathers. He is an unbelievable pitcher lindsay. You've probably covered in more than anybody else do. Good signing or bad signing for the dodgers signed. trevor bauer. I think it's a great signing. I'm a big fan of his. And like i said do you guys. He's like radio gold. Sometimes in those those postgame. Scrums and press conferences. Because you never know what he's going to say. And i know for the most part like you know greg was like oh i don't know like we're talking about whether or not he's he'd be a good interview like on the radio and i was like he's you're crazy i was like. He says all kinds of crazy stuff because he's one of those people just doesn't have a filter so like he was probably. He was the most exciting guy i ever covered. Just because of how is in and what he says and what. He's not afraid to say it's a good deal baseball wise. He's great pitcher. Here's a he was asked. What was the free agent process like for you. The free agent process was odd for me. It's first time going through it. I didn't really know what to expect. You know you kinda go into it with an idea that at some point in in the process you'll have offers on the table where you sit down and you say okay. I don't know. Let me let me look at the offers. And whatever it played out a lot longer than i guess kinda thought And i really didn't know how it was gonna turn out but I didn't know that. I wanted to be on a team. That had a chance to win a world series. I wanted to be on a team. That viewed the You know me being there as a partnership You know was willing to work with me on things. I'm willing to work with them on things and we can come together and do something. Great so Everything i was looking for in a home As as here so that's just very very exciting moment for me something. I'm very happy with how it turned out. Do we do. We have any of the quotes where he was asked about how instead of online presence. You see sort of a twitter bully right. It's it's caused a few a few issues over the years. But he i think he was asked about it a little bit at the press conference right. I haven't seen the whole thing. The press conference just ended. But i you know i wonder. How much did you know about the dodgers before you signed. Here's what he said. I knew quite a bit actually i. I've been friends with van squad family for a while So i've talked to rob him out. Talked to alex. Would a good amount talked to justin turner and walker bueller. And i know quite a few people. Here rob hills one of my good friends. He's in the organization. So i've known a lot about kind of what the dodgers do from kind of the outside looking in. I watched how they perform on the field. I i understand some of the The cultural things that they have going on That's kind of where i was coming into the offseason and so as a process went along and Just talking with the different people the organization the different Players and stuff like that it just it was. It was the right fit. It became very clear at the end. That You know i i wanted to be here and I'm happy that These gentlemen next to me you want to hear as well so Yeah that's the that's kind of just a it made so much sense at the end. Everything kinda fit fit together perfectly. Okay ramone it. So if i give you tickets. Yeah to a dodger game and you could either see kershaw. Bueller or bauer pitch. You could pick the pitcher you were going to see. Who would you pick power with. Yeah i mean. I still love watching clayton kershaw. Pitch would take kershaw. Yeah look i think with. I think with our i find him to be a fascinating person to cover. Like lindsey said. I think he's more of a bully online. I don't know if it's i think he's kind of caught up a little bit in this. What's been going on in baseball with with the verbal abuse. That's been happening. Reporters which by the way is rampant in baseball and really needs to change and get cleaned up somehow. And i think it's going to have to be from self policing not from more women speaking up. I think everybody knows it goes on. It's just a question. And i think players see it to bauer to me has done that. But it's he's just he's he's sort of an equal opportunity guy does he tees off on everybody and it's gonna be really interesting to see him like he's the guy who threw the ball that stands one time. He was so frustrated. Cleveland traded he never again for the indians. Yeah i mean. He's just a volatile guy. He's just like you know he's he's a keyboard. Warrior sorta seems high creighton. And he's obviously volatile on the mound. I i like watching players. Like puig was always like that to me. I mean he was wasn't a keyboard where he was always plead your friend twitter right but but on the field man you just never know what was going to happen and mixed bag might be crazy. I mean wow so. I find that to be exciting and interesting. I think he made a very. I would call it a mature choice right to go to the dodgers like he. He signed for three years and big money. But it wasn't like the garrett cole deal three one year deals for him it's interesting. I mean he got the every year so he can hit free agency again whenever he has another big year. It's gonna keep him hungry but it gives them some security for three years. I thought it was a really smart financial deal for both sides and also about it said something but you know from the dodgers angle that let this this is. This is a franchise that that had no fans all last year. The two franchises that have lost the most money right are the ones that went all the way to the world series because they would have got home crowds the whole time. You know the not the tampa bay would have huge crowds. Okay but the dodgers would've they would've sold that every every game. They don't get any of that. They laid off some workers. They lit up some employees. I know that was fiscally very difficult and so i was. I was surprised that they that they outlawed that. They gave this much money to star pitcher which to.

"Because we don't have enough definitive information in order to pick out specific players who will benefit and the problem is if you're going to change the equipment for the game that's gonna affect. I would argue the majority of players pretty equally. No it's the thing. When we i mean i've gone through this many times through the first pitch arizona conferences. I did a whole panel on this about the baseball. In the big twenty nine hundred season and the rising rising tide lifts all boats was mentioned. It it has a effect across the league. But what is interesting about the story to me is the increasing number of humidors. That are being used in the game. The fact that there were five us last year and it sounds like there could be as many as five more that are added to that list. I'd like to get that list because there could be some opportunities depending on which parts are using it. That will probably neutralize some of the park factors a little bit more. And that's where. I think the fantasy advantage will be obtained all right. Let's bring kyle our friend in and talk about some trivia and some hash browns. Now kyle please join us and tell us your thoughts here. I wanna know who leads. The league in innings pitched since twenty nineteen talked a lot about trevor bauer. He ranks third on ls but who sits atop the list over the last season. Half now i know this answer okay and i'm not cheating either. I know the answer. Because i rank this guy better than i think everybody else. And he's one of my sleepers and he's not a sleeper per se. But if you're talking about like a top fifty and nobody thinks that way. So i probably should take myself out of the answer this question and i'm pretty sure i'm right but tristan you can answer it after we do sprouts. How about that cody. I know i have a guest ready. Just because i've written some of the outlook. You can certainly answer a now if you want. I mean and you know it's the first guy that came to mind because you think you ranked them so much better than us. I love kyle. Hendricks and i tried to get him in this league. I was in on sunday and it just the price which is through the roof. And i couldn't do it but It's not as fourteenth great first name but not the right answer. I knew that was coming. I mean i mean. There's some obvious names i guess. Grover t monster. He's a monster truck kyle. He's a monster an so far. Above this thirty doesn't qualify. These flying high on that commercial commercial sure was. It was the best of everything around us the times i was. I was really excited about the commercial. I is better than the game way. Better than the game bar declare. They been so good years. I three pretty good. Yeah what was your favorite one. I love the sesame street. One i did beat texas awesome. Yeah i liked. She was trying to hide snacking and commercial. I was pretty good. Paul rudd palmer favorite one. I mean that's just and drink your drink from state farm in the same commercial. Paul rudd like the resemblance that he can't even throw a football. That was hashbrowns. What have we got today. Hashbrowns first one comes from job. He wants to know current bilo opportunity. For joe adele. And what are your outlook for him. Long term. I think the angels told us the allard for joe adele by trading for dexter fowler. Right i mean the car. Basically said to the angels you can have dexter fowler for nothing like one of those. Like here's a dollar you know and just take this guy off my hands. Take his salary. And because the cardinals have good young offers they have to play and fowler is not one of them and angel said sure. You know reunited with the manager. Joe adele is not playing in the major leagues until august. I'm going to say less than fewer than two hundred plate appearances. This season now doesn't change his dynasty value. 'cause in two thousand twenty two monster great but in two thousand twenty one i say fewer and i know that's the pressing and it's negative and nobody's gonna like this but i don't think joe adele getting more than two hundred plate appearances and i don't think it's that crazy to say it either. Actually i think that might be the public perception now. that what. you're saying But i do think this is a bilo opportunity. And it's mainly because john wrote in here long term and if he's talking about long term this is clearly a keeper a dynasty absolutely. This is the time. This is the type of player and situation where i would define it bi-lo and i will point out with my joe adele research. I have not has an initial pattern of struggling when he gets to each new competitive level. So yeah he he might be all right the second trip into the majors but he does have a very wide range about comes because he spends miss a lot and angels in the outfield. Right now flanking. Trout would be just an upset and left fallow and right and he can defend. And hopefully you can bounce back on base a little bit and they still have pools reserve right now because the d. h. is probably otani most of the time and that christopher lloyd wright charitable just allow is the first basement that's funny And have won the gars who they don't need because they have a great center fielder already but they have all the guards. I guess he could play left. Field for upton late game a player. You might have heard of him. yeah they might trout. He's pretty good. And by the way. Say louis i mean that fowler deal made me think okay i mean i thought dylan. Carlson and tyler neo. We're gonna play anyway. But now they clearly are in the corners and harrison. Batur is your defensive center fielder who can't hit but doing carlson and tyler. O.'neil look a little bit better now gone. you know. that's a better lineup..
Trevor Bauer Picks Dodgers Over Mets
"Trevor Bauer opted to go home to L A and sign with the defending champion Dodgers instead of the New York Mets. The Cy Young Award winner reportedly gets a three year deal. He took a little less money. But like the Mets offer, the deal he signed contains opt out clauses for each of the first two

"But he is so good the ball in his hands between his dribbling confidence his spatial awareness his ability to finish with either hand. He can knock down the three consistently. Here's the one area where he needs to get. Better be ready. He gets a and he's got better says the season started because he was way worse but occasionally a little tunnel vision. I can see that. He's made up his mind what he wants to do. And he's going to try and make it happen and that's just young. That's just being young right right right but but the only had one turnover last night right so even with that. You're like okay. He he definitely pounded the rock lot and got himself and tells situations but he never turned it over. He always found a way to still making a positive. And then alex we know alex can do And we just wanted to see him do it. More and i'm glad to see is giving him more minutes so that it can happen and again. I'm happy with wesley. I'm happy with moore's and i'm glad there on the roster as well as cook. But i think a lot of what we saw last night was what happens. When the lakers tight. Med rotation up to the to the best options for frank. And just let them loose by the way. This portion of the show is presented by lyman health changing healthcare one person. At a time. You deserve some love. I'm listening clues. And do we have the audio greg. I know i asked you. I don't know if we had it. We have the audio frank vogel. Frank vogel made a comment last night after the game about coups and i thought that coach nailed it when he talked about him. Who's is just. I feel like he's at peace with with what being asked of him and he's going out there killing it know. We talked about a lot last year. He's being a star in his role him coming in and knocking down threes. And making the right play offense and sometimes that that's gonna lead to a high scoring night. Sometimes it's been lied to creating for others types tonight but him plan as hard as he does on. Both ends of the ball crashed into board every single time running the floor every single time working his tail off on the defensive end in part of our identity now he's been a big part of a culture here last two years. I know he's been here longer than i've been here but you know what we did. Last year he was a big part of and he's a big part of what we're doing this year so it's fairly simple. I think z. Because you and i had him he could tell he was when we had him on he was annoyed still by the contract conversations and then since the contract his play has been more study. Is that fair to say. I wouldn't say so absolutely. I would say so. You know he you see him doing more. The dirty work then years before You know the help defense. The the willingness to like chase after defensive and offensive rebounds and the reason why separating the two is because we he chased the offensive rebounds a chance for him to score he changed defense rebounds your opportunity to help the team and you're seeing him do that more so i'm happy with his play I still think that if he were traded to a lesser team that needed his offensive skill set. He probably be an all star and maybe he still thinks about that too from time to time but if the goal is to get paid and win chips he's got both right so i'm glad to see that. He's he's embraced that role. So far and i you know. I think he's going to be an important piece for us in of repeating him. Ta's t caruso is. I'm so happy that they're coming into their own now. I agree wholeheartedly at peace. As frank. vogel said is probably a great way to describe it for him but man. So we'll talk more lakers with. Pj is what five thirty. But we've got a question for you. Poll question up right now. Who is more stacked because we talked earlier about the dodgers adding trevor bauer. We're gonna get into that little bit more here on the other side. Plus we'll hear from tedy bruschi. Trashing matt stafford. We'll have that for you. It's explosive audio. You're going to want to hear it but who's more stacked right now. The dodgers or the lakers you can go to espn los angeles for yourself and vote can only vote once but right now here. The results early returns sixty three and a half percent. Say dodgers see. I voted lakers. So i was a little surprised that that the dodgers is that far in the lead but you can vote at. Espn los angeles on twitter. Pj carlesimo we'll talk. More lakers with us at five thirty will talk about trevor. Bauer his arrival here in los angeles and tedy bruschi trashing the rams new quarterback. We'll get into all that in just a moment. But l z that poll sponsored by. Maybe we've lost those so we'll tell you who that paul sponsored by the next segment. Let's get into tedy bruschi. Trashing matt stafford. Let's get into trevor bauer. Pj carlesimo talk lakers with us at five thirty sodano and l z back in three minutes..

Who's the closer by the way Closers up in the air. Okay close up in the air. At this point. I would imagine blake china's going to be the closer they re signed in pitch really well in the postseason. I think they've got to find a different role. Kenley jansen Some sort of setup situation kenley is gonna have to adjust to it. But i love trying and pitch really well in the postseason and i wouldn't be surprised if one of those way dustin may look like coming out of the bullpen. Would julio radius look like coming out of the bullpen. They've got a lot of options at the back end of at the back end of the bullpen. So i am not worried about that there. Trevor Bauer signing with Los Angeles Dodgers
"Was a big day in the history of the los angeles dodgers. They went out and signed the biggest free agent on the market. The biggest free agent of the off season that is trevor bauer who will now join a dodgers rotation that includes bueller and kershaw and price and may and some combination of that. Trevor bauer coming off the national league cy young award. He was unbelievable last year. He was unbelievable the year before in cleveland almost won the cy young they're lindsay. You're a big fan of a actually. You broke the news at some point that he was leaving. Cleveland is that what it was now it was. I traded to cleveland. It was huge. There's a three way trade. With cleveland. The arizona diamondbacks and the rights. And so first. Here's powers lineage. He went to heart high in valencia. Then he started in the d-backs organization. They traded him to cleveland then. He went to the reds and won the cy young award. And now he's going to the dodgers. Wow and he almost won it certainly. He was a contender at least once if not twice with the indians and he's got a bunch of he. He has a weird training methods and he's into spin in the ball and he's he he works with that. Spear you know that. I don't know if you've ever seen if you want to learn more about our google. Trevor bauer hbo real sports. They went out and did a whole story on his training methods mostly which he doesn't a garage influenza and it's really interesting he's he's a he's like really eccentric and it's gonna be really fun to have him here. Yeah it's gonna be absolutely loaded absolutely loaded

Cj mccollum no yousef nurkic. They just said were waving a white flag joylin be comes out and scored thirty five points in the first half but portland just keeps playing and they ended up winning the game by twenty did without any of their three best player. I mean they put hungry players on the court that works. Well look detroit. Beat the lakers last week. Yeah yeah still weird year with. No fans think anything can happen. Yeah all right. If you're just tuning in again the biggest story day the story that is rocking los angeles is that trevor bauer. Cy young award winner is who has been a free agent has signed a deal with the dodgers. He will get forty million dollars for twenty twenty one. That has the highest average salary. Single season average salary ever for a major league baseball pitcher. And then he's got an opt-out otherwise he will make forty five million dollars in twenty twenty two. The dodgers have gone completely all in rotation for the ages. I i've never felt more comfortable saying and by the way i think we're going to have two teams go back to back this year. I mean i think the lakers are going back to back. I think the dodgers are going back to back. Sh straight to the title in the case of the dodgers. You got to see how they all come together will you. Were just saying straight to the title your backing off that. Well i gotta see what they look like. But i think that i would if i had to pick right now. I'd pick them see what they look like. We saw what they look like an ad an ad. Trevor bauer okay. So he's playing third. Who's playing third. So i think it will be justin turner but if it's not it's when rios. Yeah and you just said a little while ago. You love it. When i do but i don't i don't think i'd would necessarily his third right right in front of bellinger because they're both left handed so we i mean we gotta see what you know. What so. you're not prepared to say. Dodgers win the world series. They're the favorites for sure i would. I've seen the lakers play. I haven't seen the dodgers play. Yeah but i mean baseball. We've got so much we city but when postseason even starting Well as as of the moment. It's it's one month delayed not not. The they know turned that down. Didn't they the playoff run down staying on the normal schedule. So all the The mlb proposed to the mlb players association that they were going to postpone the game or the season for months and the player said go pound sand season starting in less than a month boy. I'll tell you here's the sad thing about that. Just i mean. I don't i don't want to rain and everybody's very but there is so likely to be a lock out or strike after this coming season. These sides do not agree on anything. The major league baseball players in the major league baseball owners disagree on what that for breakfast i make they. They are just completely at odds. Yeah i don't. I don't know i guess i guess that's right. It's not settled when they're gonna play. But i mean we assume it's going to be in the spring we hope. Yeah yeah i mean it's gonna sommese. Judges are the best team on paper for this shining and i just saw him win a world championship. And now i'm adding trevor. Bauer that mix. I feel like we're going back to back Coming up next for you..

"Yes growl can you believe. Now i thought it was. Just i just thought it was like positioning like playing the dodgers off the mets to try to get more money but trevor. Bauer is coming home. Can you imagine the rotation now with bueller and kershaw. John bauer and price. And i mean this. This is a rotation for the ages. We are going back to back man. It's not it's odious. Oh put up the stop. Anybody corrects anybody else. When they pronounce use is crazy. There's even the on dodger announcer. Say it differently. Yes say julio. Just julio good i leo julio mesa in los angeles organizations that go for it people tell rob you can't trade all your young players for one guy he doesn't anyway. We win the title. They tell less need. You can't trade seven number one pick screw you. We're doing it anyway. They tell the dodgers you. You can't go over the luxury tax. We're doing it anyway. We live in the land of go for it and it's fantastic. It really it really is and we think about this week alone. We got stafford and we got trevor. Bauer it's crazy now. From from a dodgers perspective and by the way eight seven seven ten. Espn from a dodgers perspective. This really makes them the best rotation in baseball and the best rotation in years in baseball maybe going all the way back to those braves teams of the nineties. Well you forgot about the phillies teams. Remember that that one philly's team that one was at the au nine series. That had cly halladay cole. Hamels and i'm leaving somebody else up but the like four saying and at one point. Detroit had three cy young award winners on their team at the same time. So how many herlander sure zor. And whom i leaving out verlinden shirts and david price all at once. How many cy youngs do we have. Well yeah david price. You got kershaw who has multiple multiple power. Who just one one you got. You've got walker buehler. Who will win one one one absolutely. Yeah you're loaded and here's the best part about this. Trevor bauer news it really. Nobody thinks the dodgers aren't getting to the playoffs. Yeah so when they get there in a seven game series. You only need three starting pitchers so the three starting pitchers for the dodgers in whatever order. You wanna put them are now. Trevor bauer walker bueller in clayton kershaw. Yes i mean. I don't know how they'll be favored in every playoff series as long as the team. Yeah i would imagine that in vegas right now. The odds on the dodgers have to be one to one right. What you want not to win the whole thing but to win the national league to win the west absolutely and you know what. It's a time when they and i'm not. I'm i think the padres did really nice job during the off season. I think they've got a great ascending young star in fernando tatis junior a really strong lineup. The added Blake snell and And they added One other guy who can't think of the starting pitcher right now But they're clearly trying to make a move and the dodgers ace they added. We gotta remember the added clovinger. Last year they added snell in the one you forgot about is they added yu. Darvish yu darvish. That's right and clever dot for this year but they still have dental mad and they still have a diesel a diesel. This is just a cute little team. They're adorable third durable. What they're doing down the five. Isn't that cute. They're trying to build a team to compete with the dodgers. Congratulations to stan. Kasten and andrew friedman. Let's call this. What it is andrew. Andrew friedman is playing chess when everybody else's playing checkers. Yes and by the mark walter who is willing to pay the luxury tax. Because i'm fairly certain this puts them over the competitive balance tax dollar for dollar. Shakin tweeted that. He thinks they're going to be they're going to have a payroll of around two hundred and forty million and the luxury tax will be about seven point two million in two thousand fifteen. They paid forty three million in luxury tax so this is with bauer today. They're gonna pay but it's not going to be that much it's going to be about seven million in luxury tax right and bauer by the way we had this story yesterday. Bauer has said that if he met with a friend that if he ever signed a long term contract that friend would be able to shoot him in the stones with the paint gun now. I don't think he violated that because of the way the contract is structured for example. It's like a three year deal but he has an out at the end of every year. So to bauer. It's a one year deal right. Leave at the end of one year. I don't think he gets to shoot him in the in the stones. Yeah i don't think so either. Forty million in two thousand twenty one forty five million the following year but he can opt out after at any at the end of the year. Yeah yeah and this is a monster of deal. A monster of a deal john. I think you said it right. We have got teams in this town particularly right now whether it be the dodgers whether it be the lakers whether it be the rams who are just saying you know what we're in it to win it right now. There is no time to wait. We can win a championship every year. All three of those teams position now to win a championship. Well what did we say when they went out and got mookie betts. They're they're trying to. You're trying to get a title in the kershaw window. Yeah and now they're gonna go now. They're going for more than one negative they. Hey let's let some people react to this. Here's jason in. La hey jason you're on espn. I think jason. Hey how you doing good. You're on the air and thank you for taking my call I just wanna say minutes. Amazing i literally got goosebumps when i saw it. And we are the team to beat and if we don't win it i don't even know what to say you are. I think you are going to win. It takes jason for the phone call. Here's gelato drew. Gillette drew you gotta be happy man how you doing. Great.
The Cubs Are Sitting Pretty in the NLC
"They can look at the division. Tony you look at all the teams that the cubs have to but up against dan. We haven't seen a whole bunch of the squads in the central be. You know they haven't made a whole bunch of moves during this off season and in the cubs they're in that basket as well so when it comes to being competitive in the division right now. I think jed hoyer and david rawson as well as myself. I think everyone is of the mindset that this cubs team they can go out there and twenty twenty one and compete no matter what a yeah i think so for sure i mean you look at this division in every single team. All five of them has gotten significantly worse on paper going into twenty twenty one compared to twenty twenty you know the the reds are losing. Trevor bauer who. We talked about earlier in the podcast. I think you traded rozelle glossiest the angels. The potential transcending gray like who knows. We'll see some of that archie. Bradley was it was another pitcher. They acquired at the trade deadline atop reliever for them. He's gone cardinals. Have lost a lot of veteran guys as well. The pirates are trading away. Anybody of value right now in the brewers have you know declined to options are not options for guys like ryan braun and and so on so yeah off five teams really right now. Don't look better on paper than they did last year. But that doesn't mean that there's a wide open division for the cubs to go claiming i think right now the cubs have one of the best teams on paper. They have a manager. Year finalist david. Ross they have all those poor guys in the mvp candidates that we talked about before that if there are bounceback season from a couple of all of those guys than this offense is in much better shape than it was last year. So i think the real big question is just pitching for them you know. Where does the pitching come from from the cubs but yeah i think right now they can compete certainly with any team in the division
Mets Have Made an Offer To Trevor Bauer
"With a Mets update. They have reportedly made an offer to free agent pitcher Chop their Trevor Bauer, the top free agent right now on the market. Pitching wise. There are conflicting reports, though about how big the offer is. There's been speculation that Bauer would take a shorter contract with a bigger annual salary. Garrett Cole is former U C L, A teammate is has the biggest base salary for next season. Right now at 36 year, the

"There's a if you go all the way back to ski experiments right when they're injecting people with like the civilised vacc- Or something i mean. There's a lot of mistrust in the african american community about vaccines and injections and it's something that i think the. Nba is aware of they. Want to figure out how they can help. And i do think what how. So i think it's compelling public health argument and i think it will line up with the timing of our scaling up maxine. Anyway i don't. I don't necessarily disagree with that. But here's what i said. We talked about this around the horn today. Which is that. I don't this message. Does it feel right being sort of spoken. Not down to kind of a by adam. Silver if lebron comes out and says this on his own yeah like that point but i. i don't need silver being like. Oh yeah by the way we do this and it can help a lot of people like y'all bro. we're all here to make our own decisions anyway and it feels like you're kind of showing the trick as as a magician when like that's not what we want. You know what i'm saying. It's like either. Let people know that as a public service announcement players have made their own choices to get vaccinated as a matter of example as opposed to this kind of weird. I don't know. I don't want to call it a bayton switch but a bit of a sort of a shell game where it's like well. We can help people they see us. But maybe we're not cutting the line but actually it'll be all good like it's just a little too complicated in terms of what they're presenting if they want to do this as players let them come out and say it the same way. They came out and said every single thing they had to say about all the political stuff in all the other things regarding the social activism. Let them read when this case the the silver comes out and says it has the commissioner. It feels it. Feels a little bit more patronizing than it needs to and it's already very topic for a lot of people in american vermont. Black folks feels my issue also feels a little like you know. This is an issue that every workplace is going gonna struggle with okay because if you're in an office and you're running up. It's like the wave back scenes. Work is that everybody has to do. If we don't or seventy percent of us have to do at least right like we can't do this like with thirty percent of the people getting vaccinated so it's not gonna work. You gotta get tired immunity so but do office people can like your job. Or why are you to take a backseat. You cannot like that. i don't i don't know i don't notice it. Well i mean think about it with kids like george you notice with your kids. They require immunization in order to go to school like it's a requirements. So i think it's gonna be the same kind of thing with this but everybody has to find their way to it on their own terms and i get your point. It'd be nice if a player said that. I you know. I think it will be like that. Adam was asked the question. And i think a lot of you know i'm gonna feel like lebron or whoever is gonna get coaxed into this by silver maple feel that way. Then they're not gonna be any more trustworthy than they. In fact might be less trustworthy for lebron. Do out over tells right. That is true but he's not about doing it nice but whether or not they find out you know that like perhaps somebody was forced to say something or do something. That wasn't what they wanted to do. What are the browns said. I ain't take it. How about you know what i mean. Like what would the nba owner. Yeah yeah. Let's discuss that. A little later i do wanna have. There's a ridiculous waiting for the ridiculous now. Laker rumor trade rumors out there. We are going to ask bomo. We're going to get her thoughts. Nba insider extraordinaire. And we've got a lot of lakers stuff to get into stuff. Ad said sta vogel is said here. The last twenty four hours about the warriors game in the milwaukee game all coming up all right gregg. Here's what we're going to do on this one. Because momo's here clinton gates is here we are going to slide what you need to know a little bit because we need to talk about. This ridiculous lakers deal. So momo today okay and i know you do i you know i do. I find content in the deepest regions of the internet. Okay you're all about the bible. Let's go so. I came across a thing on twitter. That said bradley. Beal to the lakers. And i'm like whoa wait a second. I know it's not momo you would've text me right. I haven't gotten a wo- shams alert like who like ads. Is it stein. Who's reporting this. And i look and it's according to the nba analysis network. And i say to myself man a analysis now. That sounds very professional. I love the name first of all you know. Nba twitter is show hipster that they complain about the content that we give them and they want more analysis deeper analysis. So i figured it'd nba analysis network. Maybe this is what they were like the hipster nba network. And then i come across the actual trade pass us by the way. I love to brioni his. I love that the now that we're then. I dug deep deep into their website to see what the offer was and allegedly the nba analysis. Network says the lakers have targeted bradley. Beal and the trade would include a package consisting of guards take his caldwell-pope and dennis schroder and forward kyle kuzma and not to be outdone. A first round selection in each of the years. Twenty twenty two and twenty twenty seven. I feel like that seems ridiculous to me like brad if drew holiday. Okay who is not bradley. Beal is going for three first. Rounders and two functional mba players. I feel like brad. Beal is going for more than no disrespect to. Casey p dennis schreuder and kyle kuzma and two first rounders. I mean you know. I know you're just giving your opinion. I mean i think the laker like they have like would they l. Yeah i mean bradley. Beal really good. He's really good shooter. He f- davis lebron. That sounds like a team that would win for a long time. That sounds like co star. You want to pair with. Anthony davis out. Let's go right down. But i'm telling you if bradley beal is available okay. They're going to be.

"I mean do you need to save that money to lock those guys up. And how much will his loss effect character of in that clubhouse and how much does that matter. What one quick one before we go to break. Trevor bauer lot of rumors. A lot of smoke with him in the dodgers. I'm in clinton is not. You can break the tie. I even say you know what if you bring him in put in the bullpen. You go lefty righty. Closer situation in kenley. And let's go look walker buehler's blister and we saw the rich hill saga. It's literally like it was like blister ville like it was like a sitcom or something like every damn you know week it was like what's gonna happen with the blister right and like those things don't necessarily go away you know. They don't necessarily get better. I think all the all his fancy glue all. I worry about that long term especially for his age right the cows blister or whatever. It just seems like it's always gonna be something. Yes and managed. I you know dusted may all other guys like. They're great but trevor. Bauer is a cy young. I mean he's and anybody to take a little pressure off of the aging clayton kershaw and the and the young. They won last year because they would pick guys. You know four or five innings. Yeah yeah so. Let's take a break. I want clinton to give his reasoning on the other side. You know us. We've got a lot of mba stuff to get with you okay. Oh adam silver is out there talking about some stuff. That's got people a little worried. Actually we've got a ridiculous laker rumor for you. Okay and prefacing my saying it is ridiculous By love that this is what we have right to discuss advocates rubers. So we've got all that coming up sticker out. Momo's here clinton. Yates is here on. L. z seventeen. Espn back in three minutes. So don z clean gates hanging out. Today it is a day every wednesday at this time momo hangs out with us so Clinton before we get in dive into the nba monae area on. Trevor bauer on this. Hot rumor for the dodgers. Give your reasoning. Which i think is sound for why not to wrong. Momo number one. Is that trevor. As we know is one of the more sort of out there characters of major league baseball to say the very least. You know what i'm saying. And that's that's something that i think is an element for a team that i believe cares a lot more about the unity of this team as far as they are the average. Mlb baseball team. I feel like somebody like him into a clubhouse like that isn't necessarily the easiest blend in also. This people forget about tv price because hello. David price didn't play season. You know he asked me. News is much. Forget about the echo right off season pickup in a lot of ways to me. He was already there. He's a veteran. Who knows how to win. I just don't feel that those things make it a priority for me to add a guy like trevor bauer. Who's kind of wild car on a lot of levels. That's just not something i would do with this kind of makeup of this kind of franchise. Yeah that's interesting. I think that players like trevor bauer. Who is unquestioned. I think he's a great player. And i think he really wants to win and he showed me a lot last year. You know coming back pitch you on short rest like a bunch of times in a row with the reds as they were trying to get in the playoffs and mike go nine innings. The guy wants to win so like to me. I don't care about the the you know the the twitter stop at the. That's fine and i don't you know he just want i think. You'll thrive in a place. Where they all wanna win like they've been winning and they wanna keep winning. So i kind of like the lebron effect like in basketball. You worry about the dion waiters. Jr smith and all that you're like. Yeah they abroad. Who keep them in line and they're gone by you know making that just seems like but i the only the persuasive arguments me is. It just never really makes that much sense to spend a ton of money on a pitcher term you know. The dodgers have held pretty firm that over the years. Kershaw did a five or six initially and then he opted out and redid. It added a couple of years. To that. Was the whole thing was like ranking. They didn't give him a sixth year. And it turned. I think they probably did the right thing there and it. There's just something about pitchers arms like over the core. I think if you hey. I'd rather give them one year and forty five million than ten years and three twenty or whatever right. Yeah i'd rather do but that's not what he wants. So i wanna get into the lakers but before we get into that and we can maybe do that in the next segment but adam silver has kind of thrown the idea around about nba players getting the vaccine almost like as a psa like a public service up to get others to be in and bio and on the vaccine. What are you hearing about that. And where are you on that. So this is a conversation. I've been having with agents around the league for the past. I don't know month or two ever since the vaccine has been okay. This is really going to go right. This is going to happen. And it reminds me a lot about the discussion that we had around testing where the nba didn't want to jump the line. But adam silver in the calls lawyer and that lawyer. It's called the gortat governors and gm's and all that he said he goes. Just just hang with me here. There's going to be a sweet spot. Where the testing capacity is going to increase to where it's not going to be a political issue in more for us. It's just gonna be you know us trying to you know we just have to try to do whatever we can right to to get this You know like it'll be. He was right like when they finally you know. Set the bubble and got everything rolling like the se capacity around. The country was enough what they weren't taking away from first responders and healthcare workers mine and so. I think that that's really. I think it's going to be the same thing with a vaccine. I think by the time this comes around to players. That'll probably be a month or two. From now. And our capacity for vaccinating people is going to be enough to where it's not like they're jumping the line and i've talked eight minutes. I said you guys should get your players to do this because there is so much hesitancy in resistance and when you see like you know what i'm going to take the vaccine knocked out a lot of reading about it. I feel like it safe but it makes me feel better that like sao. She took it. It makes me feel better that hey erin took it makes you feel better. You know all the every time you see other people take it. They don't have horrible effects like we've seen a little bit where now that they were going to have long-term or more complicated reactions like we would have seen that already and so like. I really think that like there's so many people that don't have the. I'll take the maxine but i don't wanna take it. I wanted to see how it goes. I so many people with that. Hey you see lebron get that you're gonna be like all right it's so important to instill confidence and like i think that you know. This is so layer. Okay there's clinton you know this like there's a..

"It's mainly a personality thing. It is not a talented. Oh definitely not a town thing. I mean there's no doubt about that right. Yeah it is. It's going to be interesting. I'm all about putting off the most talent. You can't on the restaurant but when you look at this dodgers roster and momoa's gonna join us here and he's second very important call. Listen almost whole life is on it a very important call. Like that's far more important than i. But let's look at this this rotation as we speak even prior to a potential. Trevor bauer clayton kershaw walker. Bueller david price. Dustin may julio ds and they're still tony consulate in their kind of as a starter like. Yeah those are six guys if you bring bauer like what are you doing there. Like somebody's gotta go at that point. And i think that the david price element here is the big forgotten factor. Because he didn't play last season right you know he came over. He opted out which veteran. Obviously kobe situation was something that i think. A lot of players you know looked at and really. I'm not really sure you know. We think about the freddie freeman elementary. You know that guy was next to death in decided to come back and it sort of worked out for him in terms of. Why did it but i completely understood why david price opted out but him coming back at that age with that experience as a winner. Yeah but with less tread on the tires and if he pitched the entire season to me david price is effectively. Another offseason pickup. You know what i'm saying and you don't necessarily have to blow up your staff. That's the cool part about. This situation is that they won and they've got an arm with experience and talent. That knows how to win i to me. This is why. I don't need a trevor bauer necessarily at this point. Yeah i actually think that. Here's what i would do. I would i if i bring in bauer which i'm in favor of i would move one of those guys to the either setup or closer role or split the closer role like goal old school. Remember the eighty-sixth. Mets had some dowell. And jesse roscoe right hand left hand like let's go old school twin double barrel closers. Yeah yeah i mean help. The reds had the nasty boys. You know what. I'm saying like you know like like let let's go to you. Yeah ooh ds lefty righty. Give me an kenley. That's what i want. I don't hate that you know what i mean. I don't hate that at all. I just i just for me. I don't think that the dodgers or dodgers fans to look at this like there's some dearth at at the pitching not even the case. No no i do think there infield situation is a little interesting with just turning four years. That's a lot for. I was thirty six or thirty seven ally and it's also a lot for a guy kinda went out on a. We're not last year. It's like bro. You know what might time. But i mean i've realized justin turner. The guy also was very well liked as a fan favorite. It's a good reason you know what i'm saying. Justin turner has been around this community for a long time but four years to me is about two years too many. If you're being real would make sense for a contract for holy especially for a guy having to play third base. And here's the thing. Andrew friedman in historically has not been and most great gm's in baseball are like this. They don't pay for past performance. They pay for future performance so now granted clayton. Kershaw was probably the one exception to that rule. Because you know he's arguably generational player right the greatest Regular season pitcher. We've ever seen right and him and colfax the two best pitchers. You've probably never had right. So i i think that that was maybe even an ownership call. Perhaps but like. I just don't see a lot of that. Just turn to your point. Great teammate great contributor. I don't know if you make that move. And go till he's forty year plus for forty plus just because he. He's had some good years here. He's a generational player. No that's the difficult thing and greg. I think we've talked about this before. That's the difficult thing about winning. Is that. it's almost not even what you do with like everything else is deciding who you don't wanna keep anymore now that you've won. You know what. I mean like who who is worth dropping. Now that you've succeeded with the goal and i think turner in many ways might be that person as much as it sort of pains a dodgers fan to see that like sometimes you got to remember what you're there for us to win you know and if you wayne in. Somebody's asking for something that you don't think that they deserve after you've already won. It's like all right. Well you can take your ring and you know keep it moving you know thank you and god bless and i think that's. That's a situation that we might be in greg. Maybe i'm missing. Something is turner hughes loss in. European to dodgers are turner's of bigger loss. Not even so much for what he does on the field what she still does. He's still he's still he's still leader in an all time. Postseason home runs postseason. Hits postseason everything. He's that great of a player for the dodgers at the postseason but at the same time his skills have severely diminished at third base defensively He's not really hitting home. Runs like he used to. So he doesn't have the power the pop if we d h does move over here. Maybe you could move him. But that's you know is east. That's usually typically for a guy that's a big bopper right. Yeah so yeah. I think that he plays that role very well. Now most here so mama before we even get into basketball. Let's finish off. this segment. Talks some baseball with you. Yeah yeah of course and thank you for joining us as you do every wednesday at this time so let. Let's start with the justin turner thing and then go backwards to the. Trevor bauer thing. That's out there. Justin turner four years forty million. It just seems too much for me for a guy at that stage of his career and in baseball. You you can't reward. You can't pay a contract out past performance like it just it will hinder. I know it's not capped. But i just think that these teams operate with kind of their own version of a salary cap in most cases and i don't feel like that is something that the dodgers should do because it just feels like it goes everything against what andrew friedman believes it. Yeah i mean it's it's kinda like when we get to that. Discussion of homage says character in chemistry matter right. So i think he so important for that clubhouse i think he's so important for spirit of that team but i also think that about. Aj ellis okay. Do you remember aj. Al catcher who clayton kershaw dude. And he was like his personal catcher and he's basically like you know like the the clubhouse know say trite and then just like one year they let him go and it was like. Oh man they're really gonna miss. Aj alice right and the truth wise. They were fine night. Barnes play me along. Barnes came in. And it's like it's it's like. I think sometimes character totally matters. I think it you know but but there is a limit to how much you on that you know and they just got a huge they just. They're paying four hundred million dollars for characters bookie bets right like he's amazing and so like. Jt is awesome and great but to me. I think you can go three years. I care less about how much money it is. Because i think you can always afford it. I think if you want to write all those deals like mookie. Betts deal much as great as he is. Are we going to be saying this about him. In your eight right. You know like pools right now. Bryce bryce harper mitra even my trout. We might not be thinking. That's a good deal at the end of that deal right so i can get more of. Do you need to save that money to extension for cory seager and his an bellenger cody bellinger..

"The capital. But they took these pictures on the steps of the capitol looking like you know the flyers congress people ever to you know lay is grace this country but there's like this third dude there who is that third person is that like their driver. Is that somebody's brother or nephew. I don't even know who that guy is. But they looked great in j. Of course let's get loud. get it out there. I loved every single. Part of third dude was he's short. They were sitting on snaps. Stocky kind of like can do. Yeah shots it. It might be. Their publicist is a guy. I know. it might be this guy. Ron berkowitz who is the publicist. Get this for originally for jay z. Okay then obviously then became the publicist for jay z and beyonce say Then was the public for era during his darndest time and got him a kind of sort of back even before jaylo and then Adds jaylo i guess to the mix now chooses not to sound terrible. But i don't think this guy's name is ron berkowitz. Okay then not the guy. Not that i know that travels with them regularly. Gotcha okay. so he's running. Drivers loves to jacket on. He's got a postal and he looks pretty good. But i love i love that era's turned into where's waldo. I think it's a fantastic new venture for the rest of his life. That guy's life. I couldn't live it but he's got a fun. What a turnaround story right. A comeback story. We've had a lot of them in this country but that one is pretty impressive. Big one i. That's what you need to know presented by morongo. Play it safe. Good time so much going. Stop by about twelve minutes. We'll talk to her. I do want to get to this adam. Silver's story in a second. But you're listening to caspian los angeles by the way but we've got a lot of calls clinton. We've got a lot of people on the board that want to chime in on whether philip rivers a hall of famer feel free also if you're a parent to add into the equation of what is a tougher job being a quarterback for eighteen years being the parents of nine kids. Also we were talking about these bradley. Beal rumor clinton. We're kinda on the same path here where it's like. I don't think the lakers really need to trade anything for bradley beal. 'cause he's going to be a free agent in two years so i don't see the need necessarily ford. The lakers are the best team in the league. We're in agreement there and then of course. Trevor bauer to the dodgers. I want it. You're not so keen on it because you think the mix could be an issue there. So let's get to the phones. Mike is in la. He wants to talk about philip rivers. I mike what's up. Hey guys thanks for taking my call. So i did wanna hit both on with philip rivers. I've actually been to the hall of fame in canton ohio. And of course. Philip rivers is a hall of famer. The guy has like four hundred and twenty touchdowns didn't he have like some crazy consecutive game streak. Yes i mean. He did another part of his. He's everything that's right about football and as far the tough job goes. I don't know when you stand on the sidelines and here the violence of the collisions. Maybe quarterback is tougher job than even if it's nine kids. I mean. i wouldn't wanna be a quarterback you know the that's a ferocious sport right there but I do. I do think philip rivers is a slam dunk hall of famer. The guy yeah you know what. Come on you guys. Everybody thinks eli. Manning is going to be a hall of famer. Gimme a break. Just you know i know. He wants to super bowl. It's not even close in my opinion. As far as philip rivers versus manning. come on i'm not all into super bowls. Mean you're guaranteed. I'm just you know. What has he done for the sport and He was awesome for so many years. And the identity of the chargers though Definitely slammed on fair for the dodgers. You better get Trevor bauer because sandiego is making some major moves with yu. Darvish yup with blake. Now and guess what Right now they're pitching staff is better than the dodgers so you know if the dodgers wanna go checkmate. They're gonna sign. Trevor bauer because you need to keep them in the rear view mirror. What do you guys think. Thank you. Mike appreciate the call. It's funny because we were talking about that. We were going to discuss that a little later. But we can talk about it now. Clinton you and i do believe that the padres are legitimate threat in the division to dodgers team. Right like you're all lilly. Yeah absolutely i mean listen. The dodgers were legitimate threat last season. We saw how it got between those two franchises and this is sort the beginning of the little new budding rivalry they go out and they make the dishes that they make in terms of. They have been greg the most active team in baseball. This offseason so even as george likes to say as dodger boy you have to acknowledge that they are making moves that have improved that team to the point that the dodgers have to pay attention to do. I think that that means you bring on our just because the padres did something no but it means that you got somebody right there in the rear view objects in the mirror might be larger than they appear. That is the situation right now. I slam the ego and the dodgers absolutely. It's funny. I actually used that analogy like a few weeks ago. And then greg the dismissal didn't wanna hear it now greg the dismissal go ahead look i honestly think that they did do a great job in the off season and bringing in a lot of good talent there. They are a much improved team from a team. That was already very good. All i'm saying is that i think that when you were saying that there. A threat to the dodgers. The dodgers had one of the best teams in dodger history period and everybody is back and has been. They're all under thirty years old for the most part of except for like a couple of guys and they're still really young and they still have a great farm system and there's still a lot of really good guys coming up and down throughout that. I just don't see how an all time great team is going to be worried about any type of team right now..
Yankees, Corey Kluber Agree To Deal
"Corey kluber. Probably one of the big prizes in the off season free agency in baseball signs with that up and coming team the new york yankees finalizing a one year. Eleven million dollar deal so the yankees. Anki sound money but it's a one year deal you know. That's what free agents are getting one year deals. They're not dj lemay. You got more. But he was a free agent with the yankees. They're not trevor. Bauer still sitting out there. George springer still sitting out there. I mean if you're an owner of a baseball team and you can't bring fans in and you gotta pay the players for one hundred sixty two games to make money so not signing people too big contracts
Mets Sign Trevor May to Bolster Bullpen
"Good morning boomer. Our you know what. I'm great j. You know why because of uncle stevie and i hate that i hate it. I need to it's worse than danny dimes. It's it's so stupid it's not even funny. But steve cohen finally open the checkbook and brought an extremely solid relief pitcher. And i think this is good. This is good things are coming. People are paying attention now. And i think sandy alderson got this one right. This is gonna be a guy that's gonna be back into the bullpen guys. Go throw it about ninety six miles. An hour he's got a full array of pitches. He was a starter at one time. He had the tommy john surgery in two thousand and seventeen. He was a good pitcher further twins. And i think it's a really really good solid two year fifteen million dollar signing is exactly the type of thing that this team needs. It's not just about the big splashes you got to have other guys that are going to make a difference to now. They gotta tender. Most likely stephen matt's maybe gazelle man and you know who knows if they're done tweaking with the You know the bullpen or not. But it's a good solid signing so it's a good sign for all of us has met fans but it's only the appetizer. The appetizers the basket of bread brian. This isn't even the appetizer right. We're getting there boys and girls. So i'm pretty happy about this. When i saw this yesterday i saw. I was watching on twitter. Areas like trevor bauer. I've told trevor. Bauer you know may. Just turn out to be the year of the trevor's if trevor bauer does sign with the mets and you know and trevor lawrence ends up with the jets.

"And <Speech_Male> that's that's <Speech_Male> obviously up to you your <Speech_Male> family the people <Speech_Male> you're close to your agent <Speech_Male> wherever <Speech_Male> you go. That's up <Speech_Male> to you. I just from <Speech_Male> a reds perspective as <Speech_Male> you as <Speech_Male> you assess every <Speech_Male> opportunity that comes your <Speech_Male> way and your jotting down <Speech_Male> maybe pros and cons <Speech_Male> or you know why <Speech_Male> why you might choose <Speech_Male> this team over the other. And you <Speech_Male> look at the red specifically. <Speech_Male> What are <Speech_Male> the things that would <Speech_Male> compel you to want <Silence> to stay in. Cincinnati <Silence> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> work great with. Dj <Speech_Telephony_Male> i love dj's <Speech_Telephony_Male> coach. I've wanted to <Speech_Telephony_Male> work you. J for <Speech_Male> <Silence> jesus since i was <Speech_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> fifteen years old <Speech_Telephony_Male> so about <Speech_Telephony_Male> half my life now <Speech_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Telephony_Male> He didn't recruit me vanderbilt. <Speech_Telephony_Male> But <Speech_Music_Male> <SpeakerChange> <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Male> i <Speech_Telephony_Male> give i them credit for <Speech_Telephony_Male> that all the time <Speech_Telephony_Male> but <Speech_Telephony_Male> I mean sunny <SpeakerChange> grades one of my <Speech_Telephony_Male> good friends. I love it. <Speech_Telephony_Male> She was a <Speech_Telephony_Male> tremendous leader <Speech_Telephony_Male> I think there's a talent <Speech_Telephony_Male> on the pitching <Silence> staff as a whole <Speech_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> I may everybody <Speech_Telephony_Male> on the staff. 'cause they're <Speech_Telephony_Male> all friends of mine <Speech_Telephony_Male> you know but <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> I think that <Silence> the team kind of <Speech_Music_Male> sound <Speech_Music_Male> Starting <Speech_Telephony_Male> was right on the cusp <Speech_Telephony_Male> of finding our identity <Speech_Telephony_Male> and <Speech_Male> And really <Speech_Telephony_Male> taking off. I really <Speech_Telephony_Male> do believe that <Silence> <Speech_Male> So <Speech_Telephony_Male> there's a lot of. There's a lot of <Speech_Telephony_Male> positive <Speech_Male> Things there <Speech_Telephony_Male> with the reds and really. <Speech_Telephony_Male> There's i mean <Speech_Telephony_Male> it's very <Silence> hard for me to find <Speech_Music_Male> any <Speech_Telephony_Male> negatives <Speech_Telephony_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> When it comes <Speech_Telephony_Male> to the team. <Speech_Telephony_Male> So i wanna <Speech_Telephony_Male> win. That's the biggest <Speech_Telephony_Male> thing for me. I i wanna <Speech_Telephony_Male> be happy. And i'm gonna win <Speech_Telephony_Male> but i think i can do <Speech_Telephony_Male> both of those things with <Speech_Telephony_Male> the reds now. Who <Speech_Telephony_Male> knows how the rest of <Speech_Telephony_Male> going <SpeakerChange> play out obviously <Speech_Telephony_Male> but <Silence> <Silence> I've <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> there's no reason <Speech_Telephony_Male> i wouldn't. <Speech_Telephony_Male> <SpeakerChange> I wouldn't wanna <Speech_Telephony_Male> rejoined the reds <Speech_Male> hi. Let's let's talk <Speech_Male> about the shirt. I've <Speech_Male> ordered mine. <Speech_Male> It's the trevor bauer <Speech_Male> twenty twenty national <Speech_Male> league cy young <Speech_Male> award shirt. <Speech_Male> It's available <Speech_Male> at trevor. Bauer <Speech_Male> dot com. You've partnered <Speech_Male> with the reds community fund <Speech_Male> and <Speech_Male> I know you're <Speech_Male> obviously very intimately <Speech_Male> familiar with the work that <Speech_Male> they do. And and <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> you know publicly we. <Speech_Male> We never really got a chance <Speech_Male> to enjoy a full <Speech_Male> reds community fund calendar <Speech_Male> because they do a lot of stuff <Speech_Male> during the year that raises <Speech_Male> money that engages people <Speech_Male> nonetheless. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> It's <Speech_Male> a cool t-shirt. <Speech_Male> <Speech_Male> tell us. Tell us <Speech_Male> about the design. Tell us <Speech_Male> about the shirt. Tell us tell <Speech_Male> us about your involvement. <Speech_Male> To the <Speech_Male> <Advertisement> extent you've been able to be <Silence> involved with the <SpeakerChange> reds community <Silence> fund <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> read. The community <Speech_Telephony_Male> fund does a fantastic <Speech_Telephony_Male> job <Speech_Music_Male> <Speech_Telephony_Male> As everyone <Speech_Telephony_Male> knows. I'm very <Speech_Telephony_Male> big. I'm trying to connect with <Speech_Telephony_Male> the fans. <Speech_Telephony_Male> And one of the worst parts about <Speech_Telephony_Male> this season was the fans. <Speech_Telephony_Male> Not being able to be <Speech_Telephony_Male> in the stands. I mean <Speech_Telephony_Male> there's a moment late <Speech_Telephony_Male> in the season when <Speech_Telephony_Male> gino hit a two <Speech_Telephony_Male> run homer to put his head <Speech_Telephony_Male> in the game and <Speech_Male> everyone in <Speech_Telephony_Male> the dugout was super fired <Speech_Telephony_Male> up. And <Speech_Telephony_Male> it's like oh we're <Speech_Telephony_Male> missing. Like the <Speech_Telephony_Male> energy of the <Speech_Telephony_Male> crowd people would be <Speech_Telephony_Male> going nuts right now. The <Speech_Telephony_Male> fans would be having such <Speech_Telephony_Male> a blast like that was such <Speech_Telephony_Male> a big moment <Speech_Male> and it really <Speech_Telephony_Male> of drew attention <Silence> to the fact that <Speech_Male> they weren't able <Speech_Telephony_Male> to be there <Speech_Telephony_Male> And so <Speech_Telephony_Male> on the individual <Speech_Telephony_Male> side. You know being <Speech_Telephony_Male> able to win a cy young and <Speech_Telephony_Male> have that kind of individual <Speech_Telephony_Male> success at <Silence> to

Reds, Pirates games postponed as Cincinnati player tests positive for COVID-19
"This is sports talk later for Lance Encounters for 700 wlw. By the way. Hope you had a great weekend. As of right now, we are expecting the Reds to take on the Kansas City Royals tomorrow night. In Kansas City. That'll be an 805 1st pitch. We go on the air, with the Arnell carriers inside pitch at 705 Luis Castillo is said to get the ball against Brad Keller. Trevor Bauer is now scheduled to pitch on Wednesday, followed up by Sonny Gray. In the first game of a four game series against the Cardinals in ST Louis on Thursday, this after the weekend that was lost after Friday night raids beat the Pittsburgh Pirates and then a couple of hours after the game. We find out that a player tested positive. For covert 19. Saturday's game postponed Sunday's game postponed Ah, couple of things worth pointing out here. Seafront Rosecrans, who, by the way, covers the Reds for the athletic And doesn't awesome job. I've tweeted out a link to a piece that I think will guide you through everything happening with this team right now. But since Saturday, every Reds player has tested at least three times. The players were tested. Saturday, Sunday morning and this morning. Pittsburgh Pirates. Players were also tested in Cincinnati before they flew to Pittsburgh last night. Um As of now. Based on reporting from a couple of it from people who are close to this. There's only been one positive test on the Reds, and it was the player who found out that he was testing positive work over 19 on Friday night. That player has since tested positive again. But as of now and again, there's the latest round of testing results that they have to get. No other Reds player has tested positive. The Reds have yet to fly to Kansas City. They are supposed to fly to Casey tomorrow if they're cleared to play. The player who tested positive would have to be placed on the injured list. Somebody's going to have to be brought up to take his place. The The Pirates will be here in mid September, September 14th to the 16th so there is ample time to make up. Two games They missed right now. The Reds have 40 games remaining. There are 41 days between now and September, the 27th which is the end of the regular season, and so obviously they're not playing today They're going to play 40 games and 40 days to get to 60. They already have a double header scheduled Against the Cubs next weekend. But there is not only a Pittsburgh trip to Cincinnati, but the Reds also going PNC Park and so you can make up one of the games there if you have to. But as of now, The plan is to play. Tomorrow night against the Royals. Again. All of this is very, very fluid. As we've seen with the Cardinals as we've seen with the Miami Marlins, the good news is again. After the one player tested positive with that result being released. On Friday. Reportedly. No other Reds player has subsequently tested positive and also know Pittsburgh Pirates player As of right now 6 26 on Monday night, no other Pirates player Has tested positive. So there you go, Uh 513749 7800 The big £1.700 free call AT and T. Jerry is calling from Claremont County. Hi, Jerry. Jerry. Hope something happens. Jerry. Your wine? Yeah, sure. Go. Oh, well. A little question here if one Holding him and nobody there. Miles is okay. But they prayed about because they have to get tests back from the other players to ensure that there not also testing positive. Woman get their pink. Ooh, they did that. And so there are awaiting the latest the Siri's of results and they hope to play tomorrow. The Pirates also hope to play tomorrow. Yeah, this time, noting the Reds go to Kansas City before they do that they need to get to clear And for that to happen, they want to ensure there is no other players testing positive. Your city's okay. Well, yeah. I mean, the players are routinely testing positive testing, which is why we found out that a player tested positive on Friday night. Yes. Okay. Okay. Is that all right with you? Yeah. No. There was just a bad weekend without baseball. Yeah, Wass, I I don't I can't disagree with that. Ana would do anything about it. I wanna thank you very much. Thank you. Ok, thanks. Have a good evening. You you you do the same. The Miami Marlins. You may recall after the first weekend of the year they were in Philadelphia, and then again, they had a game scheduled against the Phillies. And on Sunday morning. They found out that a number of players on that team had tested positive for Cove in 19 And instead of baseball, swooping in and stopping the Marlins from playing. Instead, the players were allowed to vote. Whether or not they play now, I'm not sure why that would ever be the case. But that's that was the plan. That was the plan baseball let the Miami Marlins players vote via text by the way. On whether or not they want to play. They did play the game that day in Philadelphia, and then As it turned out that they had close to 20 members of their traveling party. The majority were players, obviously not all of them. The majority of players that a bunch of guys in there traveling party test positive for cocaine, 19 And then it took them forever to get back on the field where baseball is trying to do. Is prevented outbreak now. It is worth wondering. This. Today is the 17th of August regular season baseball ends on September the 27th. Obviously, everybody has off days built in, so there's time if you've got to miss a couple of days. What I do kind of wonder, though. Well, I think baseball has done the right thing here and frankly, I think they did the right thing with the ST Louis Cardinals. October. When we have 16 teams in the playoffs. And we're trying to squeeze a lot of Siri's in a very tight window. And ensure that the season the post season is over before we really get to cold weather in November. What's gonna happen when we have a situation with the team in the playoffs like the one that popped up for the Reds on Friday night? Positive test and now we're not going to play for a couple of days. Not playing for a couple of days in the regular season is really not that big a deal. Not playing for a couple of days in the postseason. Could have a significant short and long term impact. More on that coming up in the seven o'clock hour at Mohagher, 15. 30 is by how you can hit me up on Twitter. One of the best players in college football is has started a petition. To try to get the big tend to play this fall. I want to know if the big 10 is gonna listen to him. I want to know if you're going to listen to him. We'll do that coming up at 6 45 but first no preseason for the Bengals this August. Which part of me is enjoying Part of me doesn't like Part of me feels for Zach Taylor. We'll do that after the 6 30 news this is sports talk Mohagher for Lance McCallister on a Monday night on 700 wlw. News, Traffic and Weather
"trevor bauer" Discussed on Starting9
"I don't want to talk about it. Either it sucks. It sucks because these are guys we haven't even put out that interview yet right? No not yet. I. Feel like like next week maybe we can put. Law So just to get to the. Crux of it. Whole disclosure. Clubs please act there guys but they've fucked up. Yup. Here's what happened. Zach. Please Zach. Broke Protocol, dealing by the way he's dealing he left his hotel to go out and enjoy all night on the town and that's not a wise decision not when you there's a global pandemic and not just that teammate. You're just a teammate that's recovering still from leukemia you have a rotation mate, which means that you are in the same small circle within your small circle such as not a smart thing to do and then. Please Zach gets outed for this. He gets punished they shove them in a fucking Nissan to drive back to Cleveland so he can quarantine for two weeks. And then there's a team meeting and the team meeting you've got club Mike Cleven Levinger Defending Zach Please Act, and then we find out afterwards that clubs was out with please AC and he had gotten on the team plane after all this happened, he knew that please Zach had fallen on the Lord and he knew that please act was being disciplined for his actions that he was going to be punished by the team. That he was going to be quarantined for two weeks and that they weren't even GonNa, put his house on a plane. They're like getting fucking Nissan and drive the however many hours. Five hours back to Cleveland a by yourself the game, a car service he had a car service he didn't have to drive. No, he didn't have to drive, but it wasn't very. It wasn't like a luxury car by any means no. Yes. I promise you. It was a fucking Lincoln towncar and xactly sat got into that car with a passenger side seat pushed all the way up had plenty of legroom. But he had plenty of time to think about what had happened so. I would look in all honesty. I would've loved the story is actually sack was handed a set of fucking rental car keys and told to beat it. I would have fully appreciated. That's how I understood the story. Yeah. No, that's that's not how it went down. He was put in a rent he was put in a car. So somebody drove him from point a to point B., and that's why I just want to clear that out because I'm with you I, love the narrative of that. That sounds great. I know Uncle Police Act would also like that. Hey, kids gotta learn send a message right and what better way the Dow to stop on the highway fill your own bucket car up with gas rental car. You've just made a big a young youthful mistake the yeah. And then I guess I guess what's most disappointing about the the whole club thing I guess this also ties into our guest today Jeb our. Trevor Bauer I believe the first episode of Bauer Bites is with club. And Club is talking about leadership and how Corey Kluber is no longer there. So club has slid into this leader type role with the with the tribe pitchers there because there are younger guys like obviously you got. Harass goes still veteran there but please Zach The oldest one in that rotation by three years. So clever is the younger of the two older guys in that rotation. Yeah. But still sort of that vocal leader, right? And he talks about like wanting to be a leader and then this happens and it's like well I. This. Is Disappointing. It's It's Because you know him as a guy and like it's not like. It's it's surprising behavior for what you think. The dude is about well, it's. Yes so Obviously. When you're going out, look, you're going out your blown off steam. You put a lot of work in each day. And you're looking for. An escape. especially. During a time like this, we can all understand that we can all sympathize with that. But. The. Opportunity to be the leader that you want to be. That isn't just in the weight room that isn't just in the lab with the with the high speed cameras and pitch design sessions and figuring things out about your craft. That's that's not where the leadership stuff ins. It also means. In a time where you would love to go out and have a drink and just kind of relax you'd love to go out and just walk around the city or whatever it is. Right now you you have to know that you can't do that right now you have to know that your decision. To not go do that would directly impact decisions made by some of the younger guys looking for guidance and you have to ask yourself well, if he's out with him, meeting club is out with Police Act. then. You have to think or you have to hope at least if it was club that was like Yo, let's reel it in man, why don't we just fuck and in a hotel movie or something and and Chill Why don't we do you have to wonder if that's the case and? That's what hurts is because we know how much club has put into trying to become that leader that sounding board for these young guys and. In an effort to show them probably like look and I get you guys just WanNa chill out like. So do I That's the slip up. That's where the slip up occurs and the anger comes from the Roscoe situation and you made a great point not always I augur team but he is in your circle of circles circle within this big circle, the bubble within the bubble and. To get on an airplane and and here's the question is. Did they have a test administered. And worthy results already back out before they got on that airplane. And and so for the people who were like, Oh, how do you? How do you compromise an entire organization? If you're clemenger getting on that airplane already knowing that you've been out and about and you haven't had it confirmed yet whether or not you're clean. Well, that's that's a question that you would have to ask that question I. Don't have an answer to at this moment in time is where they tested right before they got on the airplane and if the answer is yeah, they got tested. So then he knew that he wasn't. Technically. Compromising the entire team up until that point at least. So then the look is, how do you let the young guy? Take the exhaust fall. Yeah and take all those Eros and you not say anything well, it's because if you feel like you're not going to be the one. To have to answer that bell. He's going to answer it. He's going to take the punishment is please back in the Navy clemenger employees that have a conversation about.

"Is something only Trevor Bauer would do he decided he would show Matt Beattie the outfielder for the Dodgers he would tell him what pitches were coming to get ahead of the whole sign stealing thing that clearly has him still worked up he well on the mound what we're showing Matt Beattie what he was going to throw the fastball what whatever Abadie flew out deep to center field I don't know if he did it to another battery of Beatty was the only one but after the story line of the afternoon for I. Trevor Bauer three innings two hits two strikeouts does not allow a run sure go out yama cut down our doctor trying to stretch a single into a double on a ball hit to left center field made a sliding stop was up and throwing on target she goes with the show go goes one for two he scored a run and he walked just a week or two for two a double two runs two RBIs in a walk of significance the two run single in the first inning was against David price I left here is Sir John Fay pointed out a year ago just the weaker hit two eighty five against right handers he had a Buck sixty three against left handers and that put him in the platoon with Phillip Ervin which worked out well for for each you do wonder what it would mean if Jesse winter work to be able to to hit now a year ago the one sixty three was in a smaller sample size of some fifty at bats and today is the sample size of one at bat but just he's got to feel good about a hit off a left into the drives into Irish ditties Aquino left the game hit on the wrist by a fastball I've not heard a postgame report on that seems like ever having read to been hit on the wrist what do you think that the Astros or something somebody get hit jet Jessie weaker like in the last week early last week get hit on the wrist Dietrich well it that's no shock he always gets hit but Aquino hit today speaking of Dietrich drove in three a sac fly and a two run single Joey Votto picked up his first hit of the spring he is now one for eight with six walks Curtis Sally had a couple of hits Josiah grain get into the game for the Dodgers Josiah gray is the young hot shot picture the raids included in the deal to the Dodgers that brought on we can camp and everybody else gray blew through three levels of the minor leagues last year at age twenty two but today facing his former organization a third of an inning two hits and two runs are perhaps the best news to come out of the day was Nixon's L. will make his spring debut on Thursday he will D. "Given everything that was in the air a few weeks back but lo and behold he's lined up to pitch against garrett cole his old ucla ucla teammates and these guys have never faced each other bigly level they were a you know a big big deal twenty seven draft garrett cole went number one overall to the pittsburgh pirates trevor bauer went number three overall to the zona diamondbacks they will as trevor bauer is about to tell us they will be forever intertwined as result of that there's also it's no industry secret that these two were not exactly buddy buddy during their time ucla two very different dudes and trevor bauer being a deeply analytical sorts and the ruffled some feathers along the way with his unique approach so there's you know there's been many words expended a about these two relationship and i think that's kind of a fun little element to sunday but trevor bauer did his best on thursday to dispel the notion that he has some kind of grudge or envy towards garrett cole and he said he's basically just looking forward to facing him nothing skin rocky relationship college because he told me that future baseball insults memory another two things i don't take timely i myself i'm working and since then letter action but irrationally positive i talked with the alumni game conversation about arbitration structure whatever where each val dell i'm i'm having good for the good for him from top string allows for non from the or not we're applying for this release i don't think teammate tandem drafted higher than we were.

"Definitely and you pointed out curb balls it went for a long time the back when i was younger curve balls is a major weapon and then they they felt that when young they didn't want to teach young kids curve balls because of the wear and tear on your arm and your rest solar for a long time crow balls were out and you know split fingers a bunch of other things were in and now is getting to the point where people are just throwing so hard all the time when you've got everybody in your in your bullpens hitting ninety three and more you've got gotta have more than that fastball you've gotta have some sort of a change up occur ball or something else that takes them off their game and wishing a lot of that coming back around again and obviously you know you read certain players and you know i i love a love the indians trevor bauer he knows his limitations are and he says i i want my curveball is great i i love my but he goes i wanna throw this pitch that that the other guys on the team throw and they've had a lot success and i want to throw this pitch because i learned it from no the guy on the team and it's it's just so much the the thing from from fantasy standpoint this year is wins are going to be really strange 'cause i think wins are going to be a lot of luck involved in the wing category because so many teams right now are looking that that the back end of the bullpen is just stretched out so much now they got guys ready to come in the fifth inning and fear not pitching well they're gonna pull you and there's a lot of guys that are printing that pitched the five innings and that's it and you're not going to get as many wins in that happened so that that's something you need to be concerned about in as you said in your in your manifesto as i would call it 'cause it's a terrific piece of two hundred twenty pages you keep talking about the bolt hands in how much the bullpens are worth and anymore i mean.

"Trevor bauer better be careful because last year in the playoffs trevor bauer cut up his hands on a stupid drome she drones away from him this year he's the starting pitcher that lost the streak trevor bauer be careful these indian fans they could turn on you and i know you're a very humble guy you're all about the team you're not about me but please just make sure that you don't get on the indians fans bad side i'll i'll give him this i'll give every pitched amazing and i think you have to give him the credit and the back into that staff because you know cooper while he's to go do he's going to go out there and just he's gonna hit have his game he's the guy that end streak sets the with if they're losing and then he walks on the mound you're going to win so you can't you don't put the streak on him you put the street on the other guy the other guys that step up and have a one era for luxury bauer have one i think what four games are necessary that's amazing absolutely amazing run unfortunately yeah he was on the mound when it when it when it stopped so you're going to need those guys to make the one in the playoffs that's what we found out last year we always thought the indians were going to lose early in the playoffs because they didn't have the rotation well somehow they found a way to get over one big name was andrew miller so now those starters they'll have to go in the end of the playoffs and give them five six innings which is a crazy that's long nowadays a pitcher starting pitcher going six innings is amazing that he did that everyone praises them but these guys are going to have to go five six innings and give him solid outings and so we're going to have to see how they rebound from this and go out there and pit.
