"Gonna go Texas. I was just trying to start with how many states have two Major League Baseball teams. And then just kind of hope on the football teams. The Jaguars. Thank God. Exactly. Exactly. As people are saying, thank God for the Jaguars. All right, question three, the category is aeronautics. Two weeks ago, twins reliever. Two weeks ago, twins reliever, Joan Duran, through the fastest pitch of the MLB MLB season so far, a fastball clocked at 103.3 mph. Within 5, so you get some leeway within 5. Convert that number to kilometers per hour. That is not a fair question. What? Oh my God. Who could do that? That is such a ridiculously unfair. That's not an aeronautics question. That's a math question. So much ruder. Hang on, hang on, no, I'm gonna have to sit there and wait for me. Okay, we have well, we have a lot of we have a lot of listeners in Europe who does one O 3.3 mph, mean anything to them. No. It's actually a huge bummer that I don't know the answer to this because I should because we were in, I was at the Olympics in Tokyo where they also use kilometers. And so I remember this being an issue that the pitch the radar gun was in kilometers and we didn't know. I'm not even going to do the math and I'm going to guess it's like one 95 because I remember it being in the one. One 90 I say one 90. No, I'm sorry. One 66.2. She got 30, which is still amazing. I would still be so embarrassing. For our nautical Friends, that's 89.8 knots. This is such an indictment of the American education. I'm going to put it on them instead of making it. Good. What's the point times .6? Is that how you get it? That's how I always remember that. 6 miles is a kilometer. Yeah. You say that's how I always remember it like this is a thing that you do with regularity. If this had been Fahrenheit Celsius, I would have nailed it. I am great. I wouldn't have gotten that either. Double at nad 30. That one's easy. I'm not multiplying anything by .6. All right, question number four. Potent potable category. Through Tuesday's game, sorry. Who leads all American League pitchers in batter's faced this season? Oh, you know who it is? It's Jordan lyles. Yes. Whoo. It is just eating the innings up. Not really is. Do you have a good nickname? Look at it. Now. So do they do that for? Jordy. Jordy. Oh yeah. Baseball seems to be, I remember backing up the baseball beat when I worked at the star ledger and so you'd go see Joe Girardi a lot and everybody's nickname was just their name with a Y on the end of it and it seems like that's a very baseball thing. So Sam Miller, when he was at ESPN, wrote perhaps the best story on this. He went through and he did like kind of the math on baseball nicknames and then he went to he tried to figure out not even the math. I guess the linguistics on it. And he tried to figure out how they were created. He went through old clips, whatever, and then he showed up at ballparks and he asked players, like if my name is Smith, what do you call me? Smithy. Any compiled all these results, and then he did a guide to creating your own. So I would most likely be because at the, depending on, I think it's because it's a P for P they add ER at the end, typically. There's a whole process. And I highly recommend this Sam Miller story. It's so good. That's pretty great. Try to come up with a nickname for you clowns. You would probably be Ori. Oh. Or you could be steel. Oh, even better. If your first initial is C, sometimes it's sometimes your nickname is your initials. Okay. I can do that. All right, so that built up all the drama to a question 5 here. This is the money ball. This is worth two points. Your three or four four so far. Moneyball category is arts and culture. In the film Moneyball. Jonah Hill's Peter bran character is based on what current NFL team executive who did not sign off on his name being used in the movie. Paul depodesta was the Dodgers after that and I don't know where he is in the NFL, but I know he's there. Yes. That is correct. That's a fantastic. That's a 5. All I wanted to do was avoid zero. It does make me anxious. It's the pressure. I feel like I could have done the kilometer thing if you had given me more time, but everybody's looking at me on Zoom, which is a really stressful experience. While you were while you were doing the math I was actually rewatching adley rushman first career hit on YouTube. So I was looking at you. That seems right. If I had to guess what you were doing. That's probably what I would have guessed. Should we should we be springing this on people? The quiz? Yeah. No. Okay. I think of the three people that we've quiz so far, two of them have not really thoroughly enjoyed it. So I think it's something that we need to better them. I will not give it the full Jenny actually kind of fun review, but I will say it was better than I feared. Okay. That's it. That's good. That's our podcast motto. I also spent a little while being afraid that it was going to be NFL related questions. So I did feel better once I realized that I was not going to be asked to know anything about football. To be clear, before we sign off, I mean, you did a Terrell prior piece for us back in the day back in like 2015. Wow. Yes. And I would be happy to answer questions about Terrell Pryor as he was depicted in that story. Or anything that happened to him before then. Yeah. But now Saunders. I remember there was an interview. I could perhaps answer questions about stories that I specifically have written or stories that maybe fish up or store a specific stories that I have read and like, but if you are going to ask me to answer a question about football information, you're going to be disappointed. And it feels unfair to the listeners. You know, they come here for the great insight that you guys provide. And I don't want to drag the average down. Anyone's ever said about this podcast. They come here continuing to wonder why they come here. They keep coming back. Maybe it's for the Jordan lyles coverage. Yes. The MM QB NFL podcast is Conor or and me Gary grambling. "With them. He's a very east. Yeah, he's got the, he's got the veteran locker here. He's the he and the catcher Robinson Cano are the only two with more than 9 years of service time. And I think the next guy has like three or 5. So it's quite a young team and good old 31 year old Jordan lyles is by far the second oldest player. It's like, it's like the tanking, we're just going through a tanking thing in the NFL now, and it just blows my mind that baseball's like, no, we just did this. Yeah, we don't have to worry about this. In the NFL, it's like, oh my God, they're doing this and there's only one 30 year old player in baseball's like, no, we've been doing that for a while now. Everything's cool. Don't worry about it. The thing that's more ridiculous about baseball tanking is that the players you get in the draft, you don't even see her at best, just say them in three years. I know. Right. We'll start game one of the season for you, but your day for a player that none of your fans have ever heard of and will immediately forget about for three years. At best. Yeah, I've never forgotten about Dylan Bundy. And I never will. He was supposed to be. Is he still a Major League Baseball? Real Orioles heads. Yeah, he was at the angels last year. He might be with the twins right now. Okay. Yeah. Dylan Bundy is indeed a twin. Okay. Well, good for him. I hope it works out. So that was the other man. That was a good question. So tell us about, first of all, how to pronounce it correctly, but adley rushman is like, he's gonna, he's gonna save everything in Baltimore. It's gonna be great. Adley rushman, you got it. Yeah, he's the future of the franchise and he knows that that's his job and so does every fan and so does every one of his teammates. It's kind of wild, actually. That level of pressure. That's what I'm here writing about is just there aren't that many players who are, he's been the consensus number one prospect since he was drafted, which baseball means that no fans have never heard of him, but it does mean that he's a he's a big deal. For a ballplayer coming up, there's hype. It's a franchise that is struggling. So he's supposed to turn them around. He's also obviously a rookie and to be a good thing means you have to shut up, but he's also a catcher and to be a good catcher means you have to be a leader. So there's a lot. It's a really, he's being asked to do kind of a lot for a kid who has his father told Baltimore some the other day was, quote, playing with Legos 5 years ago. I asked Richmond about that. I was like, were you actually playing with Legos 5 years ago? He was like, no, why did he say that? I must have figured his speech. Yeah. Dad, come on. He's also like adley rushman is like, what? Four years older than wander Franco and like the razor just like, yeah, this guy's really good. Let's get him on the team. The Orioles were just doing the service time thing. Yeah. He's probably four. He's also, it takes a while to develop a catcher because there's a lot that you want them to do. Right. And your sister, you have to they have to really be prepared to show up, Franco also Richmond's a college guy, Franco signed an international signing so he signed at 16. So there are some differences, but yeah, he is 24. Like he wasn't literally playing with Legos 5 years ago. Or if he was, he won't admit it. So that's the story right there. Yeah. I tried. So I'll ask this on behalf of I'm a bit of a baseball guy and Connor is a bit of a baseball guy. I'll ask this on behalf of folks who are out there, their NFL fans were about to enter the summer and I don't want to yuck anyone's yum, but you know, there are a lot of people trying to latch onto USFL and good. Like you don't support those guys and all that, but I think folks are probably better off dabbling in Major League Baseball. This spring and summer. But specifically for someone who's like jumping in, what are the storylines that folks should be kind of like latching on to for the 2022 season? It's been pretty fun season so far. The two, the best teams in actually, I guess the asteroids have recently overtaken the angels. But until very recently, the team both the teams in New York and both the teams in LA were leading their divisions. So that was kind of fun from like a star power. That had never happened before. So that's fun from a star power perspective. The Yankees are good and they just hit a ton of dongs all the time. They just hit lots of big boys hitting home runs. And that's our team that finally is being run like a team in New York. They're just spending a ton of money. The angels have this guy Shohei Ohtani, who pitches and hits first guy to do that at any real way since Babe Ruth. So that's pretty cool. And that team and they also have the best player, like possibly the best player ever, Mike Trout, who has been through the playoffs once. He's 30. And never want to play off series. And so the idea that this team could possibly maybe go to the playoffs would be really fun or even just play meaningful baseball in September would be pretty exciting. It's actually almost it's pretty remarkable that they've had the two most dynamic players in the sport and not been able to do anything, but that's the angels. So that's been kind of fun. We're dealing with not that much, but there are definitely still some remnants from the Astros sign stealing scandal. In 2017, that was revealed in right before the 2020 season. So fans didn't get that year to boo them. So they have made up for that by booing them just ever since. So that's kind of fun. So if you want, if you're trying to get into baseball and you don't really like any team but you like hating a team, I recommend catching the Orioles or sorry. Wow, catches the Astros from the top. That's exciting. The reds are, they're doing a little bit better now, but the reds were on pace to be potentially the worst team in history. So that's also kind of fun if you want to watch just like sadness and futility. There's a couple of different ways you can go if you're trying to get into baseball. I would say that's where I would start either hatred, badness or coastal elites. That's a really good headline. I like the, I like Major League Baseball because our biggest cheating scandal in the NFL was a coach that was taping the sidelines of stuff and they never really said you couldn't do that. And then they just decided that she couldn't. And like the Astros, it's just amazing to me that people are just like whack and trash cans and it was just phenomenal. And I want more of that in the NFL. I'm sure a lot, I'm sure NFL teams cheat all the time. In myriad ways. But to be able to do something like that is crazy to me. But I guess it would also depend on having like a moderately half empty park all the time so you could hear the banging of a trash can. Like the whole aesthetic is beautiful to me. It's amazing. It rules because in every way, because it other than, I mean, look, it's not a victimless crime. There were victims, but it's also, it's sports. Right. The stakes are not if we step back at all the stakes are not actually that high, so you can get mad about something that doesn't really affect your life that much. It's known as the banging scheme, which is just hilarious. The question is report. Referred to it as the banging scheme. Sorry, spygate deflategate. Give me a break. The banging banging scheme. It involves hitting a trash can, which means great. So fans show up in trashcan costumes. They show up with inflation. There's so many ways you can go with that. I've seen so many Oscar the grouches over the years. It's just, it's great. It's legitimately hilarious, and the players are actually really mad about it. And so that's fun because they get actually mad when they play the Astros. It's always good, you know, a little spicy. We like, we like heels. It's delightful. If you're gonna have a scandal, and.

Covering Major League Baseball. Steph, what's up? That's the kind of response I hope to get in the rest of my life. Just cheers. Not too much. I'm a one of your, well, I guess not your favorite place, but a place for some of your favorite people are. I'm at Yankee Stadium working on some stuff about the Orioles. So I am just going to start out by pandering in case that helps questions the quiz show at the end. We will have you playing more than four but fewer than 6 questions in just a bit, but we brought you on. We are going to pepper you with some Orioles questions. So we'll save it for the end. Listeners, if you hate it, you can just stop the show in 15 minutes and just know what's coming. But we brought you on because we wanted to talk a little bit of Trevor Bauer who you have been covering and I don't want to go back too far. I'm not going to go back to Abner Doubleday, but I do want to explain to our listeners some of whom maybe not baseball fans, we have a lot of overseas folks who maybe don't follow quite as closely non NFL American sports. But just real quick. So Trevor Bauer, he's a pitcher for the Los Angeles Dodgers. He was the 2020 Cy Young award winner at the top pitcher in the national league when he was at the reds. He had signed a deal with the Dodgers before the 2021 season. Weird deal by the way, three years, hundred, 2 million, and there was an opt out for Bauer after each of those seasons. So that's a, I guess that was a nice set of for him. He was put on administrative leave on July 2nd, 2021. Then in April of this year, Major League Baseball suspended him for 324 games that is the exact equivalent of two 162 game seasons under the MLB joint domestic violence sexual assault and child abuse policy, and that suspension, by the way, does not include the 99 games he missed while on administrative leave. I say all of that to make the point that Trevor Bauer is a very talented baseball player who did some things that have now gotten him a significant really unprecedented suspension from Major League Baseball and again, not in apples to apples comparison, but there are some similarities when it comes to bower situation and the cases against deshaun Watson. So the first thing I want to ask you, Stephanie is if you could just sort of get us up to speed on what bower did to get himself into this mess here. Sure. And actually, yeah, the comparison to deshaun Watson has been made sort of obliquely by none other than Bauer himself. So you're not the first person to draw that connection. But we'll get to that. So Trevor Bauer allegedly, the first so what the order is a little bit difficult here because there were multiple women, but the last one came forward first. So in July of last year. So she's both the third and first woman. So the in July of last year, when a woman filed for a temporary restraining order against Trevor Bauer, saying that he had basically taken rough sex too far, consensual rough sex that she had agreed to some level of rough sex, but then it ended with him choking her and anally penetrating her when she was unconscious and punching her while she was unconscious and doing these things that she had not consented to. The petition for the immediate to the initial restraining order, the temporary sharing order was approved when it later went to a trial to a bigger hearing for a longer term restraining order. That was denied. But at that point, as soon as the restraining order, as soon as the temporary one was approved, bower was placed on administrative leave. While he was on administrative leave, two other women, one back then and one more recently came forward with similar allegations that consensual rough sex had turned into something more than that that they did not approve of and were upset about. So there is a question of pattern and then he also denies we should say he denies all of the allegations. He says that he did not do some of the things of what she was accused and the things that he did do were things to these women asked her to do. He has not been found guilty in any court. Police departments have declined to press charges, but Major League Baseball does not need any kind of guilty finding. And so Major League Baseball conducted its own investigation and decided that he had done enough to merit a two season suspension, which is double the previous longest suspension. So what did the Dodgers know at the point where they signed the contract? How were they able to do any fact finding at this point or was this how did they fit into the timeline? The Dodgers have not publicly commented really in any way. From my understand the Dodgers say that they had not that they did not know. Any of the stuff. The other two allegations were about things that happened before. Like, well, the allegation that spurred things was in April after he had to allege that he did the stuff in April after he had signed with the Dodgers so they obviously couldn't have known about that, but the two previous allegations occurred when he was playing for the reds and for the now Cleveland guardians to Ohio incidents. They say that they did not know about either of those. I don't know, The Washington Post was able to find the records, but The Washington Post was also specifically looking for them. So I.

"All right, Stephanie, I've seen coming up in just a minute. I am boy. Are you gonna ignore the Pro Bowl? No, we'll do Pro Bowl. I will, I will poop on this party right at the top, and then I'll basically just, I'll give the floor to you, Connor. I just don't think they should do the Pro Bowl. I think they should name a Pro Bowl team. Give those guys whatever, send them the circuit city, gift card, and then go from there. Circuit city was awesome because they had the logo that was the plug and then it went, and it plugged into the ground. Do you remember that? A little bit. Yeah, I mean, way more circuit city than I was. Yeah, I mean, I spent a lot of, I don't want to say a lot of hours there. I spent multiple hours of my life there at some point. It was right by the mall. It's where you went to buy CDs. You bought the CDs, it's circuit city. Yeah. We had FYE for your entertainment. At the mall. And gallery of sound was a good one. And the interesting thing about gallery of sound before we get to the Pro Bowl is that they had the way that their store were set was set up. You walked in and there was the metal detector right when you walked in so that you couldn't remember the CDs used to have that giant plastic protection barrier thing that you unlocked at the register. So they had the gallery set had this metal detector, right when you walked in. But it was next to a shelf and I don't know why they put an outward facing bookshelf next to the metal detector. But any enterprising person could walk up to the beginning of the metal detector, slide the CD on the shelf past the outside of the metal detector, walk through the metal detector and pick up the CD. And I remember, oh gosh, my friend stole, oh man, this is gonna be like indicative of how terrible our taste in music was back then. A sublime CD? No. A disturbed CD. Okay, so we liked he liked let me put this on him 'cause I don't like this song at all, but he liked it ironically and played it a lot. Ironically, but American Hi-Fi flavor of the oh, I hate that song. Yeah. It was bad. It was brutal. It was the worst song of that era. And he stole that. And I always thought about stealing stuff from there, but never did because I'm a scared person, but also because I would always get $30 gift cards to gallery sound. But that was not enough for two CDs. It was never enough because of the taxes. And so it was like, you know, you were always CD back then was like 15 bucks. Crazy. And this economy, that bookshelf though, with the metal, that's ocean's 14 right there. That's pretty good. Yeah, yeah. All you need is some board kids in northeastern Pennsylvania and we'll crack a safe for you. But so I wrote this two years ago. I agree with you. There should not be a Pro Bowl. There should have never been a Pro Bowl. But what there should be is a showcase of all the things that we would want to see anyway, right? So send Tyree kill down there to race, like tyreek hill talks about racing people all the time. Make him race people at the Pro Bowl. Offensive lineman, talk about how strong they are all the time. Throw the keg over your, you know, remember they used to do the strongman competition. They used to whip the kegs over their back. Oh yeah, Magnus ver magnusson. Yep. Yes. Magnus Samuelson, wasn't it? I thought it was like a Magnus fair Magnussen, right? I think his name is Magnus Samuelson. The strong, definitely Magnus ver magnusson, Icelandic former powerlifter and strongman competitor. Okay, but there's also a Magnus Samuelson. Okay, fair. I guess there could be two Magnus. And this one was on all the time. I remember this one. Winner of the 1998 world's strongest man contest, held in Morocco, a classic on ESPN. Magnus samuelsson, everybody. We're gonna get Magnus ver magnusson and Magnus Samuelson, I have some sort of head to head competition on our behalf. Talk about people that should be on the podcast. But make the offensive lineman do that. I mean, don't make them, but say that they can do it if they want to do it. And you're going to have two kickers down there, make them just blast kicks from absurd lengths. So this is the reason I love the Pro Bowl. I used to when I worked at NFL network, it was clear I was not one of the favorite employees there. And so the Pro Bowl was essentially like the like, hey, screw you, you're not going to the Super Bowl thing. And so you would get sent to Orlando. But I did go to turtle bay one year in hawai, which was awesome. Last Hawaii Pro Bowl. We walked the entire city gridlocked of Honolulu. And it was like an hour before the game, and so I had to walk two miles off the highway. My old boss dropped me off and I hopped, I climbed and hopped the fence. And it was like a huge 12 foot drop into the parking lot and these people were just tailgating at the Pro Bowl, and they were like, hey, and I was like, hi, I'm covering the event for the NFL, and I just like parachuted in like a stormtrooper. So I've been to, I have a lot of Pro Bowl experience. One year, the social media team for the NFL was following around Justin Tucker and got to watch him just do all sorts of crazy stuff. Marquette king. You remember the hunter? Yep. Going and doing a bunch of crazy stuff. That's what the Pro Bowl should be. The Pro Bowl should be Patrick Mahomes and Josh Allen standing next to each other and throwing the ball as far as they can. That's it. Like stop talking about it on social media and say, and then we'll have the pro football talk post, ha ha, Josh, I don't think she could just do it. Do it during the Pro Bowl, you're all going to be down there. You know, give these guys a couple drinks and let it rip. That's what the Pro Bowl should have always been. Remember like hockey skills and drills when they had the targets in the corner upper corners of the yeah. Do that. That's all I want. And they kind of used to do that. You remember like all the great QB challenge stuff for the QB club stuff, yeah. To bring that back. I guess I'm still not gonna watch it. You would want you would watch that, stop it. If they had Jacoby Brissette head to head with who's a quarterback, you really don't like. I like everyone else. Okay. It would have to be Jacoby reset versus to us so I can settle once and for a moment. What if it was Jacoby versus tua and they had the little, the robots with the targets on them, zipping back and forth, you would watch that. I still wouldn't want that would be too long before..
LA Dodgers Pitcher Trevor Bauer Is Hit by Fresh Sex Abuse Claims
"This woman who was dating the LA Dodgers star pitcher, Trevor Noah, just signed a big $200 million contract and mid season last year, you saw the pictures of her face kind of bruised up and then her comments about the sex was so rough. Trevor, I met on on instagrams and private messaging each other before you know it. We were hooking up. And she showed bruises on, I think she had a black eye, you know, and she'd look like she'd been through the mill a little bit at the police precinct that night whenever she went and filed charges. But this girl destroyed Trevor, Trevor. Did I say Noah? Trevor Bauer, I might have said Trevor Noah because he's always mind that prick. Trevor Bauer, anyhow, she destroyed his season, could have been his whole career because the allegations were brutal. He punched my vagina, he choked me that he chucked me like passed out and Trevor Bauer is going. You guys don't know the whole story, okay? Then the text came out, the private text, in which they talked about. Having rough sex in which she loved it. And after the first time they had it, she wrote back one word more. And he's like, more of what, more of the choking. I got so it made me so excited when I was coming back to after you choked me. I love it. I want more. And he's going, this is the kind of girl this is. We agreed to it. We did it. It may not be your cup of tea or my cup of tea, but two consenting adults can do that.

The has agreed to extend the admin leave for the rest of the year. So he's not coming back. He somebody wrote in a kitten. Remember who wrote this. But the trevor. Bauer will never pitch inning. Like i know this is one of those situations where you just scratch your head and go. I'm confused like why. Hasn't he been arrested. Yet like whoa. This is taking a long time if these allegations are if any of them are true the ones that what bauer has done with one of the two women who are accusing him of sexual impropriety. If he does get arrested. I would agree. He will never pitch again like. That's it goodbye and then the arrest will actually allow the dodgers devoid his contract. So there you go.

Dodgers Pitcher Trevor Bauer's Administrative Leave Extended Through Sept. 3
"Another update here. Doug with dodgers pitcher. Trevor bauer so he hasn't played since late. June was his la- last start with the dodgers. He's been dealing with a couple of different potential domestic violence sexual assault issues from a legal standpoint although there have been no criminal charges yet but today's news is he had his paid administrative leave extended again and this time it goes through september third. Now why is that important. Well specifically do the postseason roster rules in major league baseball. He needed to return to action to be on the active roster by august thirty first and order to be eligible for the playoffs. So this is essentially ending. We could assume. Technically i guess. He could refer return for a portion of the end of the season. Basically this latest extension removes him from being on the postseason roster for the dodgers this

It's interesting to note your pablo that the threshold for major league baseball is notably different major league baseball through its domestic violence violence policy institute into dozen fifteen has the autonomy to issue suspensions in the absence of criminal charges so there are a lot of different things at play here going on at once all right after the break with all those different things going on. So i want to get to the timeline of the actual events that are in question that are in dispute and all this became public view the court system the restraining order request but the interactions between trevor. Bauer and the plaintiff. They happened earlier. How these people even know each other. It began on april. Eighteenth when the woman tagged. Trevor bauer instagram story. That led to the two of them communicating through direct message and three days later the woman going to trevor bowers home. According to the information that was obtained in that declaration so they end up meeting in person going from the internet in to real life and this was on april twenty first into april twenty second. What is the woman say happened at that time. So they agreed to have consensual sex. According to declaration filed with that temporary restraining order but according to that declaration the woman said that trevor became aggressive during sex. She says that he stuck his fingers down her throat aggressively that he choked her unconscious and he sodomized her without consent. So alden what do we know about what she did afterwards. Did you tell anyone. Did she seek medical attention. So the text messages that we had been privy to indicate that they continue to have a rotation dialogue even though there might have been some elements of that i encounter that the woman was uncomfortable with there was a text exchange even after that first meeting which was initially leaked by trevor bowers camp but is now among the court documents that have been filed that seemed to show that she was basically asking to be choked out during sex and so they arranged to meet again in may so in may alden and this is the thing that we're getting more information about now because in may what happens. Then what do we know from documents and testimony about that evening. So the woman claimed in her declaration that bauer choked her out. Two more times punched her all over her face in her vagina in her buttocks. She claimed that she couldn't stop crying. And shaking and she told him that she believes that her body was having a trauma response from that now she also claimed in that declaration that she woke up the next morning with two black is a swollen jaw ten scratches on the right side of her face. Bruised gums a split lip bruising on her vagina in on her but and a large lump on the top left side of her head. She checked herself into the er in san diego to spoke to a couple of police officers from the sending police department bad day and then the next day she gave a statement to pasadena police officers so all that sounds incredibly disturbing. What happened with the police next. So three days. After that pablo according to the declaration she drew to pasadena to conduct a cold call with trevor bauer. Who had according to her continually been reaching out expressing concern really and he continued to reach out in the weeks that followed that through the end of may at which point bauer side said. He didn't reach out any longer. They never had any communication after may thirty first a few weeks after that on june twenty eighth representatives from the woman side informed. Trevor bauer via text messages. That this woman was going to obtain a temporary restraining order against. That's according to court documents that we have been made preview to later that night trevor. Bauer pitched against the san francisco giants the next day. The temporary restraining order was obtained and four days after that major league baseball placed trevor. Bauer on administrative leave. He has not been around the dodgers since this was on july second and a lot of people wonder if he ever will again so that restraining order that the plaintiff sought alden. Why was that so important to her. Where were they in terms of their communications at this point. Bauer side has contested. the ground with which. She obtained a temporary restraining order in a statement they previously said that her grounds for doing so or quote baseless and defamatory because the two had not been communicating for several weeks by the time that she obtained it but in her declaration The woman gave the impression that she still felt threatened by. Trevor bauer even though the to communicate it as a matter of fact she wrote in that declaration quote. I am terrified that he will again invite me.

"I have brought you here today. Because i am trying to understand this whole. Trevor bauer story. You have been immersed in this. This is basically your beat at this point. Yeah pablo. I am a weird combination of bleary eyed but highly caffeinated from reading court documents up until about two or three o'clock in the morning basically every night this week. Alton gonzales covers major league baseball for espn from los angeles so the hearing that starts today alden. Which is why you've been up all hours. Explained where things stand with that. What type of case. This is because trevor. Bauer has not been arrested. He has not been charged with a crime. Helped me understand where things on the legal side of this between this twenty-seven-year-old woman whose name we are not using and trevor bauer. What's on the line in the hearings this week. So pablo this bauer case. It's neither criminal trial nor a civil proceeding. Nobody is seeking compensation here. It is simply a request from the woman in question for no contact and protection from trevor. Bauer she has been granted a temporary restraining order. And so this week. The court in los angeles is going to decide whether or not to make that permanent now in california making it permanent means that he is not allowed to contact or be around that woman for up to five years and trevor. Bauer could be ordered to not just stay away from the woman in communicate with her but maybe not also be allowed to possess any firearms. And i understand that. All of this is happening in family court. So what does that mean for these proceedings. Pablo that means that this is going to fall under the domestic violence category. And what that means is that both sides are going to be allowed to present their case and cross examine witnesses and look the interesting thing is according to a lot of the law experts that tissue thompson my reporting partner and i spoke with over the last few weeks. These hearings are typically pretty straightforward. They last one or two hours. No attorneys are present and this one is decidedly different from all of those. This was going to last a lot longer. It's scheduled out for the next four days. We're expecting somewhere in the neighborhood of ten witnesses to be called and the list of requested witnesses includes the woman herself include bauer police officers. Doctor nurse the woman's father and her best friend and pablo in family court. The burden of proof is not quote beyond the reasonable doubt as it is for criminal proceedings. It's a judge taking in a preponderance of evidence and then ruling whether the restraining order expires or become permanent but there is a police investigation that is happening on a separate track. Is that right. Yes the police in pasadena have been investigating this for nearly thirteen weeks now. Pablo it's in pasadena. Because that is the site of the alleged assault which is also the site of trevor. Bowers home they. They are still investigating. This is still ongoing. They have not yet turned the case over to the district attorney's office and they said in court documents. They're still waiting for information for third parties and so they also say that officers testifying in the family court hearing this week could jeopardize their case. Yeah and this is all shaping up to be a spectacle out in los angeles. And i know that all of this. I became public in late. June because the accuser in question had filed and got granted a temporary restraining order against trevor. Bauer and the graphic details circulated in news reports in the media right after that. So what were the basic facts of case at that time. When she initially had saw the restraining order so the declaration that was filed as part of that temporary restraining order included. Very graphic details as well as a bunch of photographs. Parts of medical records expand more than eighty pages in length in an attempt to show that she was basically assaulted by trevor. Bauer or the coast over the course of two sexual encounters at bowers. Home in pasadena. During those instances the declaration alleges that trevor. Bauer choked her unconscious multiple times sodomized her without her consent. Punched her all over her body and scratch your back in the side of her face and left her with what she said. And what some of the pictures show were a couple of black eyes swollen lips and bruises all over her body so that was followed by a hearing. Alden i understand on july twenty third was bauer present on that day. What did we hear from the parties involved at that point trevor. Bauer was present for that hearing which was a surprise to some of the people who were there a lot of times according to legal experts that we spoke to the respondents. Don't show up to these temporary restraining order hearings. He was there but not a lot was said. There was a continuance that was issued for august second and then another continuance was issued to bring us to the hearing. That's going to take place this week now. One thing of note from july twenty third hearing before the continuance was granted one of trevor bowers. Attorney sean holly who famously represented lindsey lohan as well as other celebrities stated that she had informed bauer not to testify because there is an ongoing criminal investigation here. The petitioner side countered by saying that even. If he's not going to testify he must nonetheless. Take the stand. And if he's going to invoke his fifth amendment right on every question then that is his right but he needs to take the stand which sets up for what could be a really interesting preceding this week now. Bauer side has strongly denied the allegations throughout. They've said that the interaction between buyer and the women were wholly consensual. Essentially what they've been trying to prove through text message exchanges is that she was fine with the encounters that obviously is a point that the petitioner science strongly denies and over the weekend alden. Trevor bowers camp. They responded further on this attorneys. Wait in on the photos released of her injuries. How would you characterize what they say. So when their latest filings bowers attorney said that the woman quote submitted photos of her alleged injuries that appear to be edited or filtered in a matter to give a misleading or false impression now further. His team said that the woman was seeking the restraining order only to gain publicity that compels a financial settlement. They present a text sent to show that the woman telling a friend quote. They think he's going to try to settle with me. Offer me major cash then make me sign an nda but bowers attorneys then state that no settlements or cash offers have or ever will be made and to be clear. There is no compensation involved in any way in the hearing this week also this weekend all in the washington post ran an article about bauer revealing that in ohio woman had accused them of punching and choking her during sex in their three year relationship. So what does that new reporting say and what was bowers response to it. So the washington post report on saturday that there was a woman in ohio who also sought temporary restraining order last year. The two had what bauer side described as a quote on and off holy consensual relationship from two thousand sixteen to two thousand nineteen but the woman alleged through her lawyers that bauer punched her and choked her during sex without consent and expressed menacing behaviour throughout those years which motivated her to obtain that temporary restraining order now. That order was dismissed by the woman. Six weeks later in july of twenty twenty after hours lawyers threatened legal action according to that report by the washington post there was also a civil lawsuit that was drafted but was never filed. Now bowers lawyers point to that as low as a string of text messages showing bauer wanting in to end the relationship which power actually posted on his twitter page on saturday as proof that in their mind. This was an extortion attempt. So what we've got. Alden is a criminal investigation running alongside today's hearing and family court and major league baseball. It is worth noting is also investigating here as well to determine what penalties bauer may.

I mean any animal in there, So do what you can that's paid for by Nitze and do be smart. The weather has really been hot and the opportunities to make mistakes. Are greater in the hot weather. For sure, the Trevor Bauer situation is one That's really difficult. It's a he said. She said. The pictures are really scary. It's hard to believe that anyone would want to be treated like that. Despite evidence that Trevor Bowers attorneys say he has That the Relationship was consensual and that she Liked quote, unquote rough sex and all that the pictures are past all of that their past all of Of rough sex or anything that we Can believe was What anybody would want. You know, it is very hard, though, to make decisions, and there are so many people who have taken sides already. And with the pictures. I really don't blame you, but otherwise I think it's hard and we have due process for a reason. I was interested in the response that Brad just said of the Dodgers, saying Well, Major League Baseball hasn't suspended him. So it's out of our hands and he's going to start on Sunday. Don't be ridiculous. And don't play us for fools. It's not out of your hands. You've decided to pass the buck. You've decided why should we be the heavy? Let baseball decide whether he can play or not on Sunday. We're just going to pencil them in there and hope you starts for us. I mean, who's kidding? Who First of all these regular season games aren't that important? And you don't want a problem with your With one of your star pictures. So you are acquiescing and trying not to create a rift with your star pitcher in this situation. It is not out of your hands. It's something you've chosen. Uh, it's horror if you're asking me. Is it? Hard to believe that anyone would want to be treated that way. Absolutely. It borders on ridiculous to think anybody would want to be treated that way. But in all these, he said, she said, were never there. We never know the motivation. We don't know why it took as long and why the restraining order was granted. Betts, Muncy Early HRs Propel Bauer, Dodgers Over Giants 3-2
"The Dodgers hit three home runs all solo shots in a three to two win over the giants Mookie Betts and Max Muncy went back to back in the first inning and Will Smith added one in the fourth all coming off Anthony DeSclafani Trevor Bauer went six innings for the win his eighth of the season but he wasn't entirely pleased afterwards I don't feel like I was particularly effective but we got a win that's all matter so happy about that Kenley Jansen got his nineteenth save after getting no hit last Thursday by the cubs the Dodgers have reeled off four consecutive wins mark Myers Los Angeles
Shaw, Lauer lead Brewers past Bauer, Dodgers 2-1
"The pitching matchup was a mismatch but was Eric Lauer and the bullpen that helped the brewers nail down a two to one win over the Dodgers Lauer pitched the first five scoreless innings and four relievers were good enough to outdueled reigning Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer Bauer had one blemish he gave up a fourth inning two run Homer to Travis Shaw in his complete game four hitter Shaw says the brewers knew it would be difficult to score on power it's tough to rack up a bunch of hits after it against a guy like that so when he makes a mistake you got to kind of capitalize on it the Dodgers have a couple of rally snuffed out including in the ninth the Dodgers scored against brewer closer Josh Hayter with then got Mookie Betts to fly out to right field to end the game with the potential tying run on first base Chuck Freeman Milwaukee
Hosmer Delivers Late for Padres in 5-2 Win Over Dodgers
"Eric Hosmer went two for four with two RBIs as the San Diego Padres beat the Los Angeles Dodgers five to two Hosmer tied the game in the seventh inning with an RBI double then drove in the go ahead run in a three run eighth inning as San Diego avoided the series sweep ending the Dodgers eight game winning streak the Padres first baseman talks about how important it was to get this victory last couple times we play these guys they've all been really good baseball games we've always felt that we've been all these games were right there so it was nice today to get over that hump and be on the right side of this one Trevor Bauer started for the Dodgers allowing just a run on three hits over six innings with seven strikeouts while Snell starting for the Padres went five innings allowed just two runs on two hits with seven strikeouts as well both would end up with no decisions Philip gone San Diego

"A clubhouse pest and he doesn't fit in guess what he could be gone after one year and i'm willing to take that risk for one year but i'm not willing to take that risk for seven years. Yeah well i mean that was that that was part of the mentality i think. Trevor bauer and i just don't think that the yankees they clearly i mean they. They prioritize different things and and they they clearly said luxury. Tax threshold is a priority. We're not gonna get into this one year deb bidding more trevor bauer because that's essentially what it came down to. So how does this does. This change your. It's difficult because the nationally but does this change your your championship expectations for the yankees. Because you could make arguments that the best teams in baseball are now in the national league. The dodgers in the padres. I don't think the padres are as well rounded of a team. I mean they know the show but they still have to show it but they got a hell of a lot better this season and the dodging the reigning champs and they added the best free agent pitcher. If you're looking at the at the two teams on paper who the basser. It's it's the dodgers and the yankees to me still but the dodgers gotta help and yet they got better they got deeper in in the rotation. Which is you know. I mean you look at that rotation in the regular season and it's scary now now translate that to the postseason and should you got to almost two aces per game that you could deploy. If you really wanted to like legitimately could do that that you could have two two starting pitchers in game one and game two ready to go and not miss a beat. So it's pretty scary. What they could do they still have to go through a whole bunch to get to the world series. So it's kinda one of these I'm glad there in the national league. Worry about it when it when it happens if it happens but those are the dodgers yankees is to me the overwhelming favourite for the world series. That's been circling the drain for for five seasons. Now i want us. It's really. i wish it happened before. The dodgers had won a world series. But i still wanted to happen. I think it's what you have if it happens coming up in two thousand twenty one. I'm really happy it didn't happen. Twenty twenty because that would have fake it would fell fake so If if it happens. I hope it's played at dodger stadium and at yankee stadium and there can be at least twenty thousand people there and it can feel real. Even if i'm not there. I can feel watching tv. I can feel some juice. I felt no juice in the postseason last year. And you scott that That wasn't enough for you. The the the the gnome. Because i know. I know it's fake. I i liked forgot. I forgot about it at times. I i'm not gonna lie like a thomson like oh yeah. It does sound like stadium. Sounds sounds pretty real until you see a foul ball and like the fake. The fake the fake like excitement is what got me dependent on the play like. That's where you lost. Me is the fake excitement or the fake upset. You upset -ness of a of a stadium like that. They did not do other. Dj was off at that point. The hum- like the the beat was alright. The but but then when like when they dropped to the To to win any action happened. It was it lost me. It's like when you catch a it's like when you catch a singer lip synching. Yeah moment. Looks real feels real. Sounds real. Nope so it's I thought baseball got hurt from a tv perspective more than any other sport because football basketball and hockey were able to hide they were basically. Just you're disabled of focus on the field itself and you kind of take the crowd out of it but baseball. The stands are integral part of almost every every pitch. Because you see it behind the and then anytime a balls hit you see you see the backdrop. Yeah so from a visual standpoint. You're reminded almost every minute that there's no one there whereas football you going entire quarter and you never see the stands in the you never think twice about it sure. Yeah no i agree. I think it's it's different animal. I'm all when you look at what happened last year. All sports were affected Based on the viewership numbers so everybody was down. There was a reason people weren't going there. It felt different for all of them. You know looking And watching it there just wasn't the same buying for fans i think you know. I think a lot of the casual fans fell off. And that's that's where you see the numbers dipping. So he's going to change this. You think that's going to come back. I think it'll be bumped up for sure. I think i think last year. Even if it's similar circumstances the fact that last year happened and we all went through it to me will just make things a little bit more normal. It's not going to be as new. Obviously and people will get back to. I think people are yearning really really really yearning to get back to routines normal routines not not fake twenty twenty routines but like actual routines that they enjoy or or things that are that feel like normal life. So yeah. I think the That level of of yearning for normalcy is is very strong right now. Bauer was the last big shoe to drop. But they're still ton of unsigned free agents out there and and guys that are some are at the end of their careers. Some i think could still definitely contribute. But some i think could be had for pretty cheap Some names like mitch. Moreland marwin gonzalez jonathan vr. Justin justin turner. I know is been talking with the dodgers. I don't know he's not going to be cheap either yet. Brett gardner obviously jackie bradley. Jr. josh radic. Yadi is on the list. But i think did he end up signing with back with the cardinals. I saw a report that they're very close on a on a deal to bring him back even if he has an just assume it's going to happen. there's some rotation options like jayco rizzi. James paxton towel walker richhill. Unable sanchez. i find the most interesting list to be the bullpen. Because i think some of these guys could be had for under the yankees luxury tax N guys that. I think could contribute. Trevor rosenthal mark mellon. Shane green Justin wilson all. Those guys are ex yankees brezler in the band. Back brandon kit. Like some of these pitchers do you. Don't you think it would be worth it for a couple of million bucks to add. Another veteran bullpen option. Yeah i think it's possible that they do that. I think they're going to wait and see how the guy shake out a little bit. I also a name on here. That's like relatively interesting. His splits is a a nick marquess who could platoon in an apple but again a lefty bat of looking at splits from last year and he actually did worse against a random pitching then. He did lefthanded pitching. but again. kinda throwing that. You're in some cases. I went back and looked at twenty nine hundred out when it's convenient when i when i want it to be something different. I look back at two thousand nineteen which the full season and i know. It's hard to. It's hard to go back on. Guys like marquess just because he's getting older and older every year so it's it doesn't mean as much when you start looking back At at full years because he's still a year older and you never know when that cliff is going to happen has happened so but if you look at two thousand nineteen hundred numbers. Marcus certainly gave you the the splits that you'd expect Was a lot stronger against a random pitching which i still believe is something that the yankees could could could use especially towards the end of the season so if a guy like marquess like the guy would not surprise me midseason trade deadline timeframe and around that area like he was still there adding a guy like that about like that would not surprise me for the yankees getting into the postseason..

Hey, how about Let's just mean December, going back and forth before the show, So obviously walk Bueller is moving into the ace role for the Dodgers. I mean, can you make the case that Clayton Kershaw was the third best picture right now? 100. Trevor Bauer replicates what he did ah, year ago in L. A. Is Kershaw number three. Now he'll be number two to start the season. But in terms of actual talent, can you make that case? Probably so at this point in his career, Yeah, right. It's at least training in that. What a big three. That is. Have a big five. Yeah, well, but you know what? I'm saying that there's no I don't know what but still what? What depth they have in that They're not losing to anybody. Hopefully, the Bears can find a way to make it a really, really great end of the weekend. They can knock off the Saints and Normans. Yeah, that's one story, but the other story closer to home is for me. The White Sox fan. I'm very happy to know that Francisco Lindores a met, he's out of the American League Central. I'm very, very pleased about that. Got me. You talk about the hammer and nail analogy I make from time to time when it comes to the Bears. And Packers s certainly is the case for Francis Colin Door, the heartbeat of the Indians, and now he's gone to the New York metropolitans. I will tell you that. I'm very happy because that means that the Indians will be folding the tent soon. If you get rid of Lindores, that'll be the end for the Indians, so don't worry about them for a while. And Carrasco, another quality arm. You don't know that. That means to me to know that he's out of the league Outstanding. What a player. Oh, just a difference making player when he steps on the field when he stepped in the batter's box. You knows something spectacular is gonna happen. Is that kind of player? He's a stud. Guys like him. Keep the league going. He baseball going. It's one thing to say That guy's a good picture that guy when you got a five tool guy like Lynn, during your lineup that keeps baseball vibrant. Whatever you want to say about baseball compared to football and basketball, these other sports when you have someone that's a five tool guy and a must see. Think about you all right yet Wrigley Field or whatever ballpark, right? You've got to get up your runner. You gotta go to the bathroom. Whatever. When you see someone come up to the plate. You want to see the at bat? I remember the first time one of the first times I felt like that. Like what? Frank Thomas? Right. You did You want this deal, okay. No, I'm here to get the hot dog, but I gotta turn around in line to see what's gonna happen here. Striking. Okay, Good or or home run, right. You want to see it? Lindores? That kind of guy? You know for me Biases. That guy on the Cubs. Sammy was that guy? I don't know what? I don't know what to expect. But I'm just gonna watch it. Correct. Sami's up. Hang on. Hang on. Get you in the second. I gotta watch this. You're exactly right and boy to get him out of the division as the Sox are beginning their rise and oh, by the way, Trevor Bauer. They got rid of now. They got rid of Caracas Co. So over the last couple years Ache Luber like they're a shell of what they were. That's funny about that market in Cleveland, right? It's 100%. Brown's hundreds and browns. They real conversation about the Indians is only when you get to the playoffs. You would think the only team in town lot of Indians talk right? Not really. Station, ESPN. Cleveland Not really. It's really about the Browns and their resurgence and all that Indians don't get much play in there It goes to show you man. There was a time you remember in the hard girl. That team was in the mix, and I pretend for a year to the world. Syriza's that win the World Series remember anymore when their GM was John Hart, and they signed Albert Belle. Long term after he came up from the minors. Carlos Baerga. Omar Vizquel, You mentioned Mike Hargrove. They had a Manny Ramirez any Ramiro and tell me that they were freaking rub loaded. It was a year a couple years ago, but they swapped out by Erica brought in Roberto Alamar correct. No, Charles Nagy. Um Liz is Dad. She works for Channel seven on then not dicks, brother. He used to be the assistant in Illinois, not Scott's dad. He's this coach writes know Matt's brother. That's brother. Take that. There you go, people, and now you're saying But if you look at where they are, I know we need to run the ball more. I'm not immediate that you were talking about you for right now. It's about the White Sox. So idiot if you look at that group that Miller just announced those were amazing players. Tear it all the way to the ground. They build it all the way back up. So from this 2016 World Series. We think we've lost players. A lot of second Linda or clubber. Uh, Trevor Bauer. They're closer. Cody Allen, Michael Brantly, Jason Kipnis, who else did they miss it? A near miss in a letter just this offseason, Carlos Santana. There's another one. You went to the Royals. Think about that. If you're Francona, you stay away. Don't come back. I just love it. You know, Perhaps Andrew Miller is gone. Right? Andrew Miller. Think about that. All those guys have gone so this is why it's an opportunity for the White Sox to be able to make some hay here. Yeah, This is me with a young core and again. I'm not expecting the world even this upcoming season by expect him to be in the mix. Last year, they were able to go in the 60 game pandemic written season. I was able to at least see them in the postseason. So now the next step in the postseason. Ah, makes a noise. The post. Let's go while the Indians are trying to figure it out Kansas City Minnesota's always There's always a threat because of the home run power. I totally get that. But They compete. I mean, I wouldn't want it any other way. By the way is a White Sox fan. I was being able to knock out the twins, The Parana team. I can't stand right. So I love it. So good day for the White Sox.
