"Didn't there's no reason for the FBI to be shooting a little 5 year old boy. Not involved in it in any way. He's just an innocent bystander. And that leads me to my final takeaway. And this is a spoiler so turn off now if you want to watch face off. John Travolta comes home at the end of the movie. He's got the little boy, the son of his arch enemy, and without consulting his wife essentially. We've adopted almost this movie. He comes to the house. Look what I've got like he got a puppy from the pound. And so I was like, show me his room. What, John, we need to talk about this. Who is that? Oh, you know that. But we'd raise him. What about this? Wait, he's in surgery, having his face put back on, right? Towards you in the movie right for weeks. And they keep making a big deal about the agony. It's be the stitches, the sutras and all this. Then suddenly, Travolta backers himself. Just makes his own way home on the hospital. Every time I watch this movie, I'm like, she couldn't pick him up.

"A new book written by the former scientologist Mike renner, rinder. Love render. And in the book, he says he once saw John Travolta kiss a male masur and in front of him and his Scientology bigwig. So render was in the top ranks when he left the organization back in 2007, the book's called a billion years, my escape from a life in the highest ranks of Scientology, and he was assigned to help Travolta with some PR issues when he allegedly witnessed the kiss. And when they spoke, Jamal is just having a bathrobe, walked into the room, kissed the actor on the mouth, and Travolta said, I'll be in there soon. So this guy's head is the bedroom, a kiss on the mouth. That's pretty shocking, right in front of his senior Scientology official. You know, wasn't done back then. But it was indicative, I guess, of the trust that Jamal placed on render. So he says that he brought it by the church to help squash talk about Travolta's love life because since the beginning of the 90s, Travolta has been hounded by stories from all these male lovers and masseuses, even one of his former pilots, and a porn star, a male porn star. They've all come out and claimed to have had affairs with John Travolta. And after the national inquirer, contacted voltage team about this upcoming story, that's when Scientology sprung into action. Because they realized there was a big potential for PR damage, a story of a gay sex story of gay sex would have, you know, that would have been an awful for Scientology, special for the couple, John and Kelly Preston. So we actually dug up dirt on the sources and threatened the media with lawsuits. Renders the guy who does the show would lay a remedy. Scientology in the aftermath. He's got a lot of stuff to say. He says that in the book that the church claims not to be anti gay, but yet the threat of a story describing a scientologist as gay would cause panic internally because far scientologists not being cured quote of homosexuality would indicate that the technique doesn't work. Because that's what they believe they can do.

Again, this is all part of the express lane expansion project. Again, everyone's funneled down into the single right landing off that ramp. They take you over to route one south route one south to 6 ten and back to 95 but keep in mind it's slow the entire length pretty much most of route one now headed down that way so a couple of two to three miles of slow traffic on route one. If you're gonna avoid that stretch that might be your best bet, of course doing that is difficult, but again, the sooner you can divert to route one the better off you'll be instead of sitting in those delays, not only on the ramp to Russell road but from Russell road to make the right on the route one south. That is also very slow traffic backing up pretty much the length from 95. "Yourself or your kid or anyone else Kind of say it's among the most stressful social activities on the planet but what if your reward or job for doing so was let's say a 6 or perhaps a 7 figure page check would that kind of help take the edge off Maybe probably it's still a very stressful job Well Bloomberg proceeds team has the right person to help us find out A brand impressed her has already been undercover as a go between for Vegas high rollers a deckhand on super yachts even you'll recall not so long ago as a cast member at Disney World now he's taken us behind the scenes at some ultra opulent weddings I mean we're talking ultra opulent like tens of millions of dollars Like crazy amount Brandon spent a week working with some of the top event planners in the world and discovered all the unromantic work that goes into achieving nuptial bliss He and Bloomberg pursuits editor Chris riles are joining us now with a look at the lead story in this week's pursuit section Chris let me just set you and Brandon of known each other for a while You've done a lot of these ventures I gotta say the Disney one was a fave of mine So tell me about how did you suggest this to Brandon Brandon did Brandon come to you with this idea Brandon came to us with this idea So we sometimes when we're daydreaming about where to send the amazing brand and undercover we'll think okay what's a crazy sort of ultra luxury experience that we want to know more about Being a ski instructor at Aspen or being a waiter at nobu And then Brandon through this process actually gets to know a lot of the people who work in service in these industries and he can sometimes say you know I have an inn at this place where I think we can do this So he did I'll try luxury vacations like honeymoon planning and that kind of led him to this We started think Brandon with Colin cowie That's a good place to start because he is the party planner to the stars Who is he and why do you need at least a million bucks for him to even pay attention to you Well I think Colin has cultivated a celebrity status in his own right And he sort of created a brand around himself long before the idea of branding oneself was a thing Back about 2025 years ago he started working with Oprah and Oprah Doug Kim the event printers to the star So then everyone came running And then so he's planned events and weddings for everyone from John Travolta to Bruce Willis around Seacrest to Mariah Carey And so the brand is called him around and people who want that sort of star studded experience seek him out and he can command a $1 million to produce a sort of entry level wedding in his world What is he like a supermodel from the 90s I don't get out of bed for a $1 million But that's because when I was writing this story I actually was toying with trying to do like a Linda Vanderbilt lead for the story and it just ended up being a bit of a big metaphor but I was thinking about that the whole time So Chris what was it that you wanted to know top of mind from Brandon Well you know a lot of times what's interesting about these undercover stories is a that the people who work that Brandon works with are incredibly talented and they are able to accomplish superhuman feats of making amazing things happen dealing with insane requests And then B the second most interesting thing is usually the bad behavior or the wild requests of the people who are indulging in the service So I wanted to know how crazy the brides and grooms were And Brandon actually learned that the whole sort of bridezilla groomsville thing isn't really as much of a thing at this tier when people are spending one to $11 million on a wedding They're getting everything they want Exactly But what about mom Zilla or dads though Right So the people the zillas are the people around the bride and groom and Brandon saw some bad behavior on the parts of families of celebrities So I don't know Brandon you wanna tell them about some of the family bad behavior you saw Yeah no absolutely Yeah going into this I was really excited to mine some of the more classic Red Bull stories And it was told to be right for the start you know when you're getting everything you want for your wedding the villa attitude doesn't come out But then the moms are like creeps out especially among new moneyed individuals because likely when they were in their 20s or early 30s having their wedding they didn't get to have the $9 million wedding So some of the funny things that I was hearing about was that a mom would wear white To the wedding in college champagne So evil There was a mom who had the videographer completely re edit the wedding video because she didn't star in it enough By the way who goes back and watches things anyway Yeah Well it's interesting too So tell us about some of the other things that you came about came across I mean open bars being kind of the devil There's a great story I'm gonna go there about someone who got so drunk What happened Oh yeah So at one point you know it's really hard to control alcohol consumption at a wedding You bought out the whole resort You have all the service that you could ever need And you can't water down the drinks because you need to keep everything at a certain level standard So people just get absolutely shattered And one woman actually was still junk she fell over onto her wine glass and then popped her silicone brat And that is why Colin.

"I can't tell any female in my life that there was a rumor a long time ago that Cole Hauser is gay and is even a further rumor that his boyfriend was Vin Diesel. I know it's impossible to think of two of those guys with all that much cheese mo being gay. Look, it was a rumor in the same vein, John Travolta, Tom Cruise, Paul Newman, deal with that what you will, but that was the scuttle butt. Emphasis on but,

"Wasn't pleasant. Well, I said to him. Did you say you're not a very pleasant? Yeah, but the thing was, is the anger is what they always said that I have to try and channel. So I had that anger and then I was I felt like I was because of the upbringing and I didn't feel there wasn't a lot of love. So the love I was getting was just adulation and it was there while you were doing well. So I think I took that off the pitch and into my everyday life. And I kind of like walking like John Travolta and night for you with down the street. Feeling like you're the guy all the time and it took me a few years, you know, to get over that I was out of control. He goes out of control. That's the only thing. I don't regret anything on the football pitch because I just pleased to be there. And some of the times I let myself down and it used to really bother me because I used to think I got a real problem. You know what I mean? Am I ever going to be that person that can leave that and be that person and people saying things like, yeah, but if you weren't, if you weren't like, you wouldn't be the player you are. I didn't know if that was a good thing. So I regret that kind of stuff I think back on now. I don't play. I don't regret anything I did. You know, I apologize for absolutely nothing. But other than that, I wish I was different to the people in and around me at that time. All right, okay. Sorry. The house gets deep. This.

"Who i mean. There can only be so much music in the world. You know like you know. I think it's fine to be inspired by other people in other songs and like sort of create your own tributes to those kinds of things that i've literally give them credit. I don't know. I mean. I guess it's good for artists to be crediting other artists when need be and it's something that obviously i don't know very much about but i don't know i. It seems like overkill to be honest with you. Yeah we'll call my mom after this. See what she thinks findings. Okay last question. Should we do it do this. Okay you guys. I don't know if you've thought about recently but do we need christy carlson romano to make a comeback. Maybe you might remember her as the older sister. Reading even steven. She's kim possible. She's also connect kelly perhaps for most role but yeah disney channel kind of older sister vibe for the heyday that we all watched it anyway. She's making the new she has. She has a youtube account has instagram. She's like trying to make it work. She's a business woman but she's making the rounds this week because she's talking about child buff and she uploaded a video titled why. I don't talk to shiloh. Above which is like click beatty but and like exciting is actual bonafide like maybe ayla star so of course you know things are going to outlets are going to be curious about what she's saying shortly she kinda just talks about their beef and how quote salty she was his success. She said we always had a little bit of animosity. I always wanted him to really appreciate what i gave to him. Which i'm like. What did you did you do to on what on saba cast get. Maybe the dynamic that she saw him out there like little sister older sister little brother dynamic not but he was clearly the star on that show. I'm sorry and she goes on to talk about that right like i guess he wants them award. He was on the podium and issue sitting there at the whole team and he thanked everybody at the table but not her some beef for her back. I don't really know yes. She says she feels jilted by the situation. He's making this big old splash. Hollywood and here. I am anyways talks about. She went to college. She chose this path. But yeah i mean i think she has been working this whole time. I checked her page. But do you guys think we need christy. Carlson romano to come back. Could she like the mom. Now of the even stevens remake. You know how they do that with that. So raven and stuff. Sure why not. I mean you know shala fucking socks in his career should be over so like that's fine. You can just be done. We can swap her in margaret. Qualley day her instead all will be well. I mean right okay. Sure you know we discover things. I don't know i have no real interest in her as an actress but like i have less interest in chhaya so we're going to pick what sure. Yeah amelia does. She elicit a strong reaction out of you or you like i always kind of thought she reminded me of like the tb version. This is i don't mean does sound rude. When i say this the tv version like a less polished version of anne hathaway kind of and i'm gonna anne hathaway's fulfilling 'cause she's like disney you know they're both beautiful brunettes and it was like you know and i think it's the better actress and i'm fine with her doing her thing and krissy carlson like i don't feel too bad because i'm sure you're getting residuals and you again. You chose have kids. Yeah exactly so happy for you but like don't complain right. Also gonna talk about china buff. Of course people are going to watch that and take that and thank you So the answer is perhaps not surrounded up there guys so much listening and getting through that cringe mode with us and kaya are pretty serious. I'm and meyer..

"Hi and you think of a better name than kelly. Hi for this highschool literally try so often boy also pretty sure it was shot at palley high in the palisades and maybe feels like just one little harder. Yeah yeah okay let's you. Mvp and lv p. kate. We gotta circle back to coordinate courtesy. Okay so this thing that killed me is that they don't even show eighty percent of her lines because i assume she's so bad that they couldn't so like the first time she calls addison. They're like facetime ing. But you're hearing courtney talk and talk and talk but it's showing at us and reacting because they literally like can't show courtney's face because of how awful is i off right. Yeah i was actually in awe of the edit that guy because she was so terrible. So i guess congrats addison. Because that was the best you came off in. The whole movie was in comparison. Maybe that's why she was like. Let's cast courtney. I don't know but it was atrocious. I agree. I was watching her. And i kept thinking for some reason how. I know that kim would have actually tried like canada. Actually would have tried. And i just i know this. That's she's chris's favourite that's why skins is actually a successful company and Failed hot take. Depressions have dabbled watch. Kendall jenner dave and like granted. All she had to do was laugh. This was like a bit more intense. But you don't take away from this is like does that mean actually though that keeping up with the kardashians not a scripted and vegas we think because her granny crashing can't actually act saver live so maybe the fig plot points are real because we now know what that looks like when she's trying to act you know make a great point is a really good point makes you think him amelia. Mvp my mvp was peyton. Meyer as jordan. Von drennan as. He's the fuck boy influencer. I actually thought he was funny. I thought all of his little dance moves and just like his clothing and just the way he acted was funny and it really takes. You know mahoney's to lean into that character. And i thought he did a good job. I don't know great for someone. Probably not kate. You wanna do lightning room sure. We only have two questions but the first one is sick. What is the most egregious spun con in this movie. I think we all added things as we saw them. So here's the list not to give them more product placement here. We go over. Core drinks peleton doritos kfc aloe spiritual gangster old navy pizza. Hut tick-tock ariana guerande. They use like five of her songs. Garnier smart food. And i'm sure we missed like ten. Yeah yeah what's the most egregious amelia. Okay i was literally screaming because they use katy perry's electric song or she's like electric that is actually a pokemon. Go respond kong song within the first five minutes of those movies sparring con. It was wild concept. It was the old navy website for me they just casually in the kitchen of brin and cameron's house and british just scrolling. The old navy looks like i said i do that. Sir but literally it was like behind scrolling old navy and like they'd never mentioned it never went back to it like was just what shoes doing for me was the pizza which looked shitting even those literally commercial basically for pizza hut. Also she shows. I'm like pizza. Hut calling me at your house. Who'd like it should've been some fans. I don't know the guests. Young into these influencers parties so a gas that there's pizza sweets i dunno would have been more excited domino's person true true okay and the final lining choosier ridiculously named main girl. Paget was main character. Addison ray aniston was the random blonde backup dancer. Who stole her boyfriend. And alden was the mean girl turned extra mean girl who was paget's nemesis in this movie choosier fighter. Okay amelia cheeser fighter. Oh sorry i think aniston is the funniest. Because it's like jennifer aniston's last name like that's where they got it so no i mean i'm sure there are people manasan. People come from being like i may man named answer. That's on her first name right. fucking paget. Because that can't be right. And i even looked on instagram. I was like maybe the teens are named paget these days. There's like no one named paget if your name paget please me because i didn't even have your there so yeah i also gonna take aniston just because i don't think she has a real line and this whole movie her whole characteristics being named aniston and having a bob which is enough probably. Yeah yeah get haircut but yeah a bad movie. don't watch. that was fun now. I think we're going to be banned by netflix screeners. So so they're gonna stop getting a screener for sure. Let's wrap up this episode ti-time unanswerable questions. Kate hit ninety degrees this week in los angeles. It hit ninety degrees elsewhere. And the pumpkin spice latte say is back at starbucks. The fall drops have officially begun starbucks. Also dropped the apple. Chris macchiato which is there other fancy fall. Drink my question is is it too early for the fall products dropped. Do we have to wait for september. Are we ready as a society is just too hot. What do we think. How do you feel. That's a great question. That's a great question. Because it. I mean this is like the end of august as much as it kills me to say that and people aren't going back to school already through you know so there's that however you know i just like to cling to that at least give me until labor day you know agreed. I feel like the flavor of apple is really good warm. And it's so hot here that i just can't really think of a warm drink right now. Aloe yeah i i think it's too soon kate. You know as much as i love fall products and like last week. I bought like pumpkin coffee beverage world market because they had their false of super early and i was really excited about it as much as i am. You gotta wait for september. I think september is like the first fall month. Sure and i. You just gotta wait trader. Joe's waits until september trader. Joe's like the ultimate fall product destination for me and fucking left trader joe's and they're pumpkin products and not drops on september seventh. Yes i did. Look it up. So i think starbucks wait for september first and like they wanna spark these discussions discussions congrats. It worked but i do think you gotta wait for september. It's too early. it's too hot. Yeah agreed okay. Burglary thousand really boring. Those good. i think that's a that's a perennial question to my question. Okay go rilya mention this. Because i feel like olivia robbery. Go love her. She has been having credit a lot of artists for her songs. Had to credit taylor swift on a couple and we know taylor love her too. But she's very litigious but she has yet again. Delivery go has had to credit to of the people from paramore for good for you because it does sound a lot like misery business. I remember the first time i listened to good for you. And i was like wow. This sounds like misery business. But again i don't think i i have a hard time believing she was like okay. I'm going to copy this and not credit these people i just think there are only so many Notes in music. That you're gonna end there so many songs you're going to have songs that sound alike and i just is it fair. That's what i wanna know. Is it fair that she has to credit these people even though i don't think she intentionally like stole anything from them and also we haven't even goitres that. Listen to teton. that's all we gotta do. Y y you know. I think it's very complicated. Because i think it said like she was in contact with paramore before the song came out there was like some intention but again like it doesn't sound similar enough to me for there to be any need to credit hayley williams and especially on the taylor swift thing where they're like she had to add taylor swift today's view like other than the song she actually worked with taylor swift on like it just sets a dangerous precedent.

"It's very over. Op she awful. She may have missed her calling there. Maybe should've said that you're actually the live streaming that was pro. I mean because that wasn't even acting that's like her who she is. Edison right to her fans anyway so it was like the easiest to watch but it was when she was trying to be like a high school girl. That was so difficult. It was Sabina vaccine abilities holy shit. I cannot believe we have not talked about chronic passions cameo yet. Oh my gosh you guys. We didn't know what role should play this movie. We thought maybe she'd be courtney kardashian and friends may be with this influence. We didn't know what was going to happen. She is actually paget. Addison raise publicist you. Business manager woman controlling her brandon her image and her deals and our sponsorships shit. And she's supposed to be this ghana. No nonsense industry bit. Choose like kind of stu whatever. It is so painful to watch her. Act i about this later. But i just can't. I mean she plays jessica miles torres. We've gotta get. They say all three names every time they they mentioned always just miles torres. She pops up on the phone. It's like just miles torres telling and yes she's like writing a peleton right we. We can talk about now. Are we gonna talk about later. But she makes. Addison look oscar worthy in comparison. Yeah we can. We can come back. Yeah we just had to say that it's maybe the biggest it's no totally i mean I also felt like this movie sometimes wants to be a commentary on influence or culture but it stops each time it tries to cross that threshold and it doesn't like it just like the character. I'll okay so the character jordan von drawn and who is the ex boyfriend i think is a really great parody of like the paul brothers or bryce hall addison's ray x rays ex-boyfriend and he's like he's really ostentatious he's like lists said he's ready to fight everyone you all. Those take talkers. Youtubers are now like boxers. So it's like within that vein and that's pretty much the only commentary coming from like a character perspective and then they try to make addison raise paget someone who's like clearly obsessed with followers and social media and then she realizes this is really unfulfilling and like this doesn't make me a better person but then at the end of the film. She's back to her old ways. She gets sponsorships back. She's doing a sponsor trip to like italy. Or where i don't remember. It was like somewhere in europe. And.

"There are some classic teen movie features. That i'm glad they tried to execute in this movie. It turned out horrifically wrong in many ways but the first of these is the attempt to make addison ray pop star via a singing seen. I've seen this. We've talked about this in so many other cringe modes. you know. I mean we could name a bunch of them that we've done but it's just it's kind of a classic. The actress she can sing. You want to do the double pop star thing so addison has a karaoke scene in this movie. She sings cave. Harry's teenage dream. And i it's not good. It's i mean it's absurd i also put it as a highlight because i respect the attempts to do the classic z. Yeah i mean lindsay lohan. Hillary have many more. There's like a manhattan one. Like i pay all did it anyway. The machine part the machine. But you're right it was really cringe race. Tough dancing with the tong de dance moves. Which oh it was really mad. Ya got worse because another classic teen movie moment that they decided to include was the choreographed prom. Dance off like they literally. This isn't really. i mean. I guess like a dance moment is part of a lot of teen movies but this the depths to which they went in this dance off at prom. You got the girls dancing against the guys. Addison was giving like julia stiles. Save the last dance like she's crushing it. The hayden me like shane energy the energy the as his moment yourself. I thought we're actually decent. Obviously there's professional dancers during this with them but again it was like the attempt to like really like totally drag out us and through. The mud is whereabouts. Do this whole segment. But it was not her strength. Say has a boat pick with his normal logistics respected. But i will say that for like whatever the you know the most confusing parts this movie. I had to look away. This was just actually hard to watch. It's also incredibly long three and a half minutes of choreographed mid prom. Dance off. yes oh serious. It's just oh. My god like really describe it now and it kinda like matthew lillard is the principle which are gonna talk about. He's like wow. This school has some weird traditions. And that's the only way they try to write off having a full choreographed in the middle of their. Anyway i do have this highlights because again aspect the effort but it did not work. And they'll probably it'll probably come to twitter. You don't even worry about that right. This segment is what will be circulated on twitter as like holy shit. I can't believe they tried to do this. People will be setting it two different songs. it'll be everywhere and in the final highlight that i also appreciate them. Trying to include as the blooper reel at the end of the movie. They definitely had a checklist of classic movie things that they wanted to include they did the blue correal. It's not anything special. it's like. They messed up a line. And they're like oh i always appreciate. I always appreciate the inclusion of the brielle. Yeah so you know some highlight. They took the manual. They knew what they do and they're like let's just follow this exact playbook although it didn't work out exactly right highlight for me was there's again like probably manual mean asshole ex-boyfriend fighting the good more nerdy guy who like somehow could fight actually like the like a professional mma fighter. This fight scene was in a birthday party again. It was like a good guy. Bad guy. good guy who is so. He said a amateur photographer. He's a horse trade guy who works farm with horses. He can do it all. Eddie can also fight like literally to the debt. He was dodging. This guy's punches. Ooh like he was rained from some ancient shit. Like this guy again. They tried to take a blueprint of a lovable like the rom com guy and they just made them like a superhero kinder. It's just funny. I don't know this fights was fucking hysterical especially if you've seen to high school dudes throw punches. That's not what that looks like at all wrote lisera on the line. It's like to do willing noodles. You're right you're correct. No totally wasn't very much like. Did i actually start the trailer for shonky. Like what's going on here. They definitely thought that they were sean. Murray understand okay. Also another highlight. This is so small but is the one moment. I actually laughed so i was contractually obligated to read it down. The will good guy. What's the guy's name. i think it's cameron cameron campaign. They haven't joke they have a joke about. Someone pronounces it wrong over the announcements. Unlike the bank patent anyway continue like cameras. They called him cameroon. Yeah right what why. Okay people can. yeah So cameron has his younger sister brand. Who's like you know. I guess the comedic relief of the whole thing. She's a little sister. Whatever she's talking. Addison ray about her older brother and kind of like you know making fun of him as younger sisters and then they talk about the the horse thing and and basically the guy gets called a horse girl. Because i can't believe the term horse girl has made it into like the conversational zeitgeist enough to make into a netflix movie. Anyway really funny and perhaps that younger sister brin was like a highlight just characterize because she was actually a good actress and provided. I don't know something does something addison right. Didn't do so yes. And then lastly. Lastly i just love seeing rachel cooke. I'm happy. She is beautiful and that she's getting work. Even if it's this you know it's still paychecks. So yeah i choose decent. Yeah i mean every here like pretty much. Almost everyone with one. Notable exception looks good. In comparison to addison so talk about the exception later on but my final highlight is matthew lillard who is also along with rachel cook in the original. She's all that also. We just watched movie with matthew last week so it was a little difficult age twenty years from last this cringe about but he's the principal. He's fine he you know. I thought was kind of like a scene stealer in the prom. Seen dancing which was well he actually did dance but he did not do the choreographed dance off trump and yeah he was funny he was fine. He was there to have a good time. I was like okay. Great yeah you got your paycheck as well. The good nostalgic nod. Yes yes yes yes. Let's do some low if we can even contain this category. Start us off. I mean we've said it already. But addison is literally such about actress and i know that we knew that she would be like. There was part of me that was rooting for her and wanted to be pleasantly surprised like my expectations were like on the ground and i was ready to be like. She's better than i thought she would be. She's not she's not. Did you think this is better than you expected her to be. Honestly yeah i. I also wanna remind people that. She's a trump supporter also. Sorry but i had to You know what i will say. This she has a beautiful smile. Sure that's very like aretha. Franklin beautiful you know if we didn't wanna shit our heart you're like we're not in the business of making fun of someone honesty. Yeah i wanted to be pleasantly surprised by this new. He'd be like oh god and they'd be like okay. Actually she can act. You know yeah. It's was her facial expressions like an eighteen is. I acted as difficult. Like i could. Not this. I can't but she can't really moat with her face when she act and it's difficult to watch. I think you can tell. She was a broadcast journalism. Major alcohol right something about her delivery and part of it is like she's doing a lot of sort of live streaming during the lower so she does kind of has. It's like i've addison rain. I'm here at the scene. very happy. her something about her acting delivery is just giving like channel six news anchor..

"Are. I i cannot believe it but it is end of august. I don't know where the time goes. But we're going to give you guys some end of summer streaming recommendations some to really grasp bonds the last days of august some to look ahead and then i personally can't wait to hear from amelia. Who's going a different route. But we'll get to that in a second so if you'd like to squeeze out the last bit of summer you're not ready to approach fall and pumpkin spice season i'm recommending the new season of violent For the us listeners. You can find on hulu. So i'm still behind have not finished the season because for some reason i thought i could not watch it but you can find on hulu. It's not the best season there ever is. But there's goes songs and slow like dance montages so it's like all you really need for like a summer. Trashy show amelia. Did you say yeah. I was so jomie who works at the ringer and listens to time. Sheriff joe me. He watches it and he said that this season is not very good. Yeah there's recently one amazing girl. In caz i don't know she gets voted off again. I'm like three quarters of the way through. But she's my favorite. There is a great bunch. But look i mean the bar is low. We're in quarantine is still of same fun vibe. So you know. Are you watching bachelor in paradise. Oh yeah i like all. Violence better. paradise is kind of boring because they didn't watch katie thurston season. So no who any of these guys who are beefing are yeah. They all suck so. It's yeah yeah my other recommendation again just like a. It's end of august but we're not ready to let go. Is the white lotus on. Hbo you can listen to actual real commentary on the show on the watch and talked about it too but this is for the listeners. Who want to go vacation in hawaii and are not and being responsible and staying put so it's beautiful setting. It's basically about a bunch of rich white entitled hotel guests staying at this hotel. The white lotus but wait amelia. Did you know who's in it. I know who created it. Okay so my shirt. What if you listen to our podcast last week which clearly you didn't de never do knowing talk about the survivor connection. God dammit. I won't talk about it with you though me. Talk about that kate. What'd you just say like. Oh cool i know. We talked about mike white and how he's our modern day renaissance man and how he dominated survivor than anyone on to be in iraq. Create the white lotus and then he casts his survivor friend. The white lotus was really excited about that. You do your homework elizabeth. How never tell me when. I put things in the outlying was out you have the white. Lotus is your streaming wreck. I was like great. I'm glad you're you're loving it. Well of course when we talk about survivor with milia if choose or listen elazig teatime. I guess okay. Amelia onto you. I've been doing a few re watchers. 'cause you know it's like again this delta variant. It's not good people. And i feel like we are going to be in down and get some of us already are still in lockdown so be careful be safe but king of the hill is on her lou and it is. I know it's i. I had avoided watching the show for a long time. Even though i've seen the memes. I'm sure you have to like bob hill. He's that little slump kid who's like own. That's a bad impression but it's actually. It's a really good show at ended over ten years ago. But it is seemingly getting a reboot and it's about the hill family who lives in a fictional suburban town of arlen texas. And at first i thought it was all about like conservative rednecks and while it definitely is. It's also very cleverly subversive to the stereotype overall. It's a really wholesome and funny show. And i highly recommend it to everyone who listens and who is on this podcast. It's really good and again bobby hill. If you don't like bobby hill you are dead to me. So that's my first recommendation and my second recommendation. You know what. This is the second time. I've been able to talk about him on a podcast because i really got to talk about him. I don't know how juliette. And kyle let me do this but on bachelor party. I talked about how john travolta a star like. I'm sorry but the man is a national treasure who won. He deserves an oscar. Okay and to he he lights up a screen and i know this sounds very sound like i'm being facetious. But i'm really i'm serious. He does. And i've been reading really gotten into john travolta in the last week because i re-watch greece because it's on paramount plus and it is it tough out a great end of summer watch. Movie is conic but he he has like this just i. It's like this effervescent star power that is just all encompassing. And you just you just love him. Even okay yes. He was hot when he was young. But he's still captivating as an older person. And it's just. I just love john travolta. I'm s thank you so i would watch greece's on payroll plus watch that. I also watched the movie. A little movie called face off for the first time on paramount. Plus last night. And let me give you a quick synopsis of movie. It is a movie. That is absolutely bonkers. It's john travolta and nick cage another national hero and it's it's literally them switching faces in hunting each other while explosives go off. What yes okay. That's the movie. So as i think i think you and i i bet at alive. React to show. Yeah four face lights out literally. The day we met was the library watchable for pace off. And that's like everything. I know about the movie. That's it that's actually watched it. No no i just heard bell talk about high. It's so good it's actually like it's probably the best movie i've seen all in all of quarantine. It's really oh i know. It's an how not be actually the premise wild. But it's just like you know what they took a chance and it works and it's really good and you you. Can't you know most movies at least for me. I'm like okay. I can like go pee but this movie. You can't go pee it's good. It's good for me actually. Yeah so there's and then also primary colors is on hulu and it's it's disguised as a movie about this character that john travolta plays named jack stanton and it's really a disguised for bill clinton and it's about his campaign for presidency it's directed by mike nichols and adapted for the screen by elaine may so they are a great combo and he's just again john..

"John Travolta was so bad himself. This interesting little movie. That's got some decent music throughout it, but that one always jumps out at me. Good old days when aerobics workouts and the the eighties, the workout places the gyms were the singles bars of the eighties. Keep that in mind. All right. Let me finish this one little Post for our garden line. Facebook page. I meant to do this a half an hour ago, but I'm a little behind my time right now. I think I got that posted for guard lines. Facebook page kind of a salute to D Day. So what else I want to talk about today? This is kind of a disjointed, discombobulated morning already. Let's get it back in order 713 to 1 to Katie rates. That's 7132125874212 Ktrh 2125874. Here we go. Let's go to David and Bel Air up first. Good morning, David. You are on the air. Good morning. Uh, Do we, Compton? Let me just throw that name up. It was my first gardening the gulf But, uh so I've got some, uh Residue from, uh, six large trees. I had the stumps grounded after I had the trees removed. And had I think it's probably pretty good for mulching. Should I compost that in any way? Yes, never Just use it fresh, always composted. But never use it fresh. Okay, so I've got I mean tons of it. I had 120 ft. Tall water of the Or you may not be able to use all of it. Some of them may have to be thrown away. But definitely I'll go back to that tutorial and we did earlier go online. Just write composting one on one. For Texas. You'll have about a million hits. All right. And I say hits. You'll have a million. Uh Perfect connections there in the top. 10 will always be about what it takes to take the materials you have, and they'll balance it out for me, and I'll tell you what can use and what you can't use and they'll do the ratios for you. And I always liked the 32 1 carbon to nitrogen ratio, and unfortunately, when you're talking about this fresh Greenwood, it's mostly green. It's not, uh, not all of its brown nephew took all the bark and separated that from the stump, ground dust and sawdust of the tree. Then you can you have the two different elements there, But you need more bark to meet the brown. Then you do the chipped up wood in the inside. So if I take some wire fencing Material and And put all this stuff and hand into there. Yeah, but that's why you need to read it. It's not just wire fencing material there. There. There are dozens of opportunities here from all kinds of stuff. You can get a tractor supply house. Or a farm and ranch type store or even a feed store. And there are so many different ways from cinder blocks to what they call a cattle wire to build your own compost piles, and the idea is to build more than one. You want. At least two Some people do three. So you start cycling and you start working as it ages, You'll know which one to pull from, Okay? Thank you. You're welcome. 713 to 12 Ktrh. Let me see if I can pull up this email real quick before I pull it on. All right, let's see if this is going to work or not. Um okay. Here we go. Jolin Clear Lake. Good morning. Good morning, Randy. This is Joe limb and clear like like you just said, um, I did everything you said before the freeze that wrapped my queen palms. We put lights through them, and now they're showing some green leaves that I'm really excited. And you think it's like a false show before they die, or they did They actually make it, man? Are you a pessimist? Oh, no, It's cautiously optimistic. Okay, Now that's not the way you I'm going to use your words against you, Um Let me back up. I've got a couple minutes. I can tell this whole story because I love the fact that you sent some queen poems that have new green growth. Plain and simple. Would you agree? Yes. Have had so many emails. Of people sending dead looking Queen palm. What do you think? You think it has a chance? I don't know. I'm not there. I'm not looking at the core. I'm not. They're testing the trunk. So you know this has been since you know, obviously, March 1st is like, Do you think my Queen palms going to make it? I don't know. I'm not there. You're as you think these pink ones you have green growth. Jo Lan. There's no one else has. How much green growth on a queen palm than you do. Wow. Oh, Like, how in the world could you even question that right now? I just needed confirmation. Well, look, It's very we were talking about this yesterday, too. We had some fun with this. You know when it where there's green. There's hope, all right. I mean, the fact that you've got green growth emerging. Yes. Is it singed at the edges? Absolutely. All right. But the fact that you're protruding new growth Oh, my God. Wish I saw that on So many more of the people sending me emails without pictures. Do you think my queen problems going to make it? I don't know. I'm not looking at it. Dolan. I'm looking at yours. They're gonna make it. Hey, thank you. Now that is that is assuming I am not there. Now. I will buffer that I will protect my little statement there with the the tongue and cheek fun of it. By saying, Look, keep a watchful eye on the new growth coming out so that it doesn't even the new growth beyond. This doesn't have a fungal disease issue so you might want to every six months maintain the copper fungicide or the systemic fungicide down the core. Just for protection purposes. I am with that. All right. Come back the copper fungicides, right? You're in clear Lake. So you have it a little bit better than Say people up in Cyprus or, you know creeks. Art over the woodlands. There's there's a lot of dead Queen palms. I get that. And we were telling people we have to wait until the end of May to make doubled, aren't sure And I was hoping I would see more of what you're seeing on Queen Palm by the end of May. Here we are really the first weekend of June. This is a good sign. Especially for the people south of I 10. This is a good sign the fact that you sent those pictures. May I ask you since you already had the permission slip? Can you go send a couple more pictures that I might be able to use on our weekly email tips? Give me a couple. I don't call close ups, But I don't need that far away Pictures. I need a little bit more of a close up so you can see what that browning edge of the Franz that may be coming out Look like Sure I can do that. And just send me a just send me like five or six different pictures you got I might be able to use those in the upcoming weekly email blast. All right, well, and we did cheat a little bit at first week because we turn on our poll heater. That was the smart thing to do. I know a lot of people that protected some Citrus trees by using a way to funnel the the humidity coming off the pool and using the pool heater, and they say, I know some people have saved all kinds of Citrus trees because of their pool. Excellent. So I wouldn't call that cheating. I thought I thought that was ingenious. Mm. All right. I will send those pictures. You feel better now. I feel wonderful. And then they'll die in 32. No, it's just It's so cool to see I she sent like the first request was like I want to send a picture of Uh, my queen policy if you think they're gonna make it or not, when they finally did. I was not expecting what I saw Bottom line based on the 98% of the other emails that I've gotten in the last three months. You think my.

No, I'm not talking about one division Episode six That was great. I enjoyed that. No, I'm not talking about black widow. The movie the Marvel movie Scarlett Jo Hanson. It's supposed to still be reserved for theaters, only not talking about that. We could talk about that. In fact, we will talk about that. But that's not what I'm referring to right now. Did I read? As in, like Nicholas Cage and John Travolta. Nicolas case, John Travolta, Okay? Yes. Face off that movie. Yes, it's the post to have a sequel, and it's in the works. Yes, it is a sequel in the works from the director of Godzilla versus King Kong, Adam Wing guard. It's you know, Variety is reporting on it that you know he would love the film growing up and wants to bring it back. So I guess audiences who have never seen it, But here's the thing. It doesn't include neither Nicholas Cage or, um Uh, Johnson. Welcome Travolta. Yeah. Look, I really did like that movie. Okay, it was, but it was really preposterous. The whole idea taking a face Oh, Castor, Troy. All right. Think about this. If someone were if I were to trade faces with? I don't know. Danny. Max? No, I didn't do the brother. I need to use your brother for this. We don't get ready to say, Um um Like Juwan. Okay? And let's say we traded faces. As far especially concerned were identical. I'm quite sure my wife would recognize that you want and I are not. You know, the bodies haven't been exchanged. Okay? For better for worse, how we want to come out on that. Look in the movie. We were supposed to assume that physically, there were at least the same height and build. That's what we're supposed to assume. Even though But at the same chest hair flawless, some lovemaking happening. Yes, they did with it. Live it. We've been living together for the past three Bunches battered wife and you didn't notice anything different down there. For better or worse, You didn't notice anything different. Look, you have to suspend every ounce of believe when you go into a film where a criminally insane psychopath is trading faces with, you know the what is that? The FBI investigator who's been chasing him. There's got to be easier way. There's got to be it easier way if my job came to me, okay. Robin Bertolucci is my boss. Okay? Robert Louis, you on behalf of my heart comes to be a system. Oh, we need you to consider taking your face. Oh, For higher ratings. Yes. I would respectfully teller hell to the No. Okay, not about money, no more. We can reverse it. It'll be fine. We have the technology. We could do it. The very thing that you cannot look at these things. Once you're in the movie. Once you're watching the movie, you have to take everything as being realistic. We cannot sit and watch Jurassic Park and say that couldn't happen, like come on. We're watching a movie about dinosaurs. Anything can happen, but speculates that he set up the rules within the movie, and I always want a movie to follow its own. Rules if they had just stayed in the public or just two stated work. I think that would have worked better for me. But I'm quite sure You know, especially when you talk about going home and living as someone's husband. They're just so beneath you. No face or not, There's not that much acting in the world. No, because they they didn't change voices. It wasn't voice off. It's just the faces off. No, they did something with their voices. They did something can't remember. How did they make a sequel with it? Because of the way and I'm not gonna get any spoilers to somebody that didn't watch the movie in 1996 when it came out, but give away spoilers. We are but How can they make just I remember the way that movie ends. How do you make a sequel? Again. You can prove I don't know if one of them did die. Yes. How do you know them? They die actually, and the little brother also died. So you know, maybe the oldest son grew up. The son grew up in his and figured out that Jon Archer is not his biological father. He's actually the son of Castor Troy. And he's mad. He's gonna put his face on. Yes, he's going to take his father's face and they're gonna such. Maybe there's a lot of face. She's trading going on. Maybe it's you know. It's like the Agent Smith how There's more of them in the sequel to the Matrix, and maybe everyone's trading faces in this next one. Wait a minute. Maybe it's like a whole black market of face switching. So it's like with Dan Akroyd and Eddie Murphy, but it's gonna be trading faces..

Totally random tragic happens about sixteen people here every year. When you get to your afterlife you can see your stats. You look at what via game you played the most what is number one. I'll start i believe that madden would be the most game than i've played if you get to count all of them group together because i've played every year since nineteen ninety seven or something say. Ea sports does not count that way. You have to buy it if their individual games probably halo three the game in my top ten. That would be most embarrassed by would probably either be candy crush farmville because i do label. Those may currently be playing candy. Crush mind would be a game called sky rim which is pg which is a very substantial number one and then the top ten that i would be kind of weird is a game called viva pinata. I haven't put any money on it. But i've gotten some bonuses of up to like three dollars and twenty five cents and gamble on the word game. I think that's the important thing you can't put money. Gibraltar Gets Its Own Brexit Deal With Spain

"Britain and Spain reached a last minute deal to keep the border open between Travolta and Spain. Now that Brexit is complete, and as of tonight, the UK is leaving the European Union for good. NPR's Frank Langfitt has more to make sure people can flow easily between the British overseas territory and neighboring Spain. Gibraltar will join Europe's border free Schengen zone and follow EU rules while still remaining part of the United Kingdom. Gibraltar, voted by an overwhelming margin to stay in the EU in 2016. About 15,000 Spanish workers across the border to the rock as it's known daily. The deal to keep people flowing easily between Spain and Gibraltar does nothing to address the difficulty issue of the territory sovereignty. Britain has ruled the territory on the southern tip of the Iberian peninsula for more than three centuries. But Spain which seated Gibraltar to the British in 17, 13 wants it back. Frank Langfitt. First Flight With Mike Manseca

"Tell us about how you started. First flight dot org because this is really obviously. You've you've been to kitty hawk. Many times Tell us what your first time going there. Well my first time was. I couldn't even tell you how old it was as a kid and it actually was with my dad the outer banks always ended up being a place we would go for vacations. I like for instance when i graduated from high school. Joe double hills is where we went for our Graduation party week. Whatever you wanna call it But i've been there before and my family. And i now go actually. I live in richmond. Virginia right now uh-huh even though i'm the head of an organization is down in kitty hawk north carolina but For probably about the last twenty years. We've gone every august for for summer vacation. 'cause we discovered as vacation place all those years ago and we just love. It can't think of a better place to go on vacation so we still do it now when you were a kid and you went there did the significance of the location of the you realize the significance of the location or was it just a a neat place to go for vacation. No no i completely did and much chagrin the rest of my family. They didn't look at me. Like how many times can you go to the same place you know what changes nothing changes. But i. i don't care. It's like a pilgrimage to go to the wright brothers national memorial to go to the park to see where that first powered flight happened and i'm a fanatic about it since i was a kid and when two thousand and three came around and i knew it was going to be one hundredth anniversary of flight trying to figure out. How am i going to get. I'm gonna get down there. Because i had a job. It's in december and then as it turns out my wife said. Hey i put for your birthday put together a trip for you and your dad to go down and spend a couple of days at kitty hawk and be there on the seventeenth and she'd actually only set up for a couple of days and my dad said well. This is wonderful but if we're going to go we might as well go for the whole time. And i think it was a five day celebration so worked it all out. I begged my boss to please have a couple of extra days off and We were there for all the days of celebration. And i have to tell you there was nothing never been anything like it. I don't know if i don't know if you've ever been to any of the celebrations but that one and of course was worldwide as far as the publicity for it but i can't remember how many people they said were there but the thing about it is i saw every kind of playing you can think of especially military plane fly over during those days. 'cause there was an air show every day and let's see also saw a lot of famous aviation people so the great thing was being able to see. Neil armstrong john glenn bob who hoover patty wag staff any number of people who were being honored that week And then on the actual seventeenth john travolta introduce president george w bush and he made a speech on the seventeenth of course out of all those days. Which day was the ugly rainy day. Yes it was the seventeenth. It was cold. It was rainy The attempt to do the flight at ten thirty five did not go off like it was supposed to. But i was so glad that i was there so now. I'm just curious. And i don't know the answer to this question. The wright brothers choose that location because they were building the airplane in dayton. Is that correct. That is correct. Actually wilbur wrote to the national weather service. And said hey. We're looking for replace. That has a lot of wind and his isolated and they could do their experiments in in private. Kitty hawk was a bonus because all the sand dunes. Which makes it a lot easier if you have an accident while you're trying to fly instead of trying to land on hard ground Which is essentially what they had in ohio flat hard ground right so they had gotten a number of different places they could try and they went ahead and wrote to the postmaster down in kittyhawk in he basically said hey. If you come down here. We'll do everything we can to help you find a pleasant group of people and we look forward to it so they basically took them up on that offer. So now when did you. Did you start the first flight organization. No no no under current president but the first flight organization or now you got me saying it's the first flight society actually started in nineteen twenty seven as the kill devil hills memorial creation. I hope i said that right. It's changed names a few times but yes Nine thousand twenty seven kill devil hills memorial association basically what it was was a group of about forty six businessmen put together by a newspaper publisher named W sunders who said hey. Let's let's this an important place. Let's get a memorial built. You know and this is something that would be seeing nationwide and would also you know side benefit is would be reason for people to come and visit each daughter bax back. At that time there was no bridge over to the outer banks from the mainland. You had to take a boat a really. Oh yeah you know. And that was the same. As in the time of the wright brothers. They had to take boats with crates of all their parts for their their planes and it was quite the trip and and even the first when they were building the memorial and people were coming down and they were dedicating. It was a heck of a trip train rides boat rides. You know wasn't like let's just get on a plane. Fly there because even at that time it was pretty it was just. There wasn't a lot of people just going to go up and

C-SPAN suspends Scully after he admits to lie about hack

"So last night fence we had the two competing town halls and Joe Biden got a two hour town hall. President Trump got a 40 minute town hall because the 1st 20 minutes of his town hall were spent arguing with Savannah Guthrie, who thought she was there to debate the president. But what last night was supposed to be was supposed to be nice to be a town hall with both candidates on the same stage, which could have happened last night and should have happened last night. But that was a goat rodeo. And so it didn't happen last night, thanks to the council on the presidential debates. S so instead, we have the two competing town halls. Now. C Span's Steve Sculley was supposed to be moderating that town. Holly's has been one of the moderators of the town hall That was supposed to happen last night. And the whole thing fell apart and part of this whole thing falling apart. You know the president was was the president, you know? Could he be there without being a super spreader they were calling on Biden's campaign, you know, apparently didn't want in there. They only wanted him there. If he was encased in like the boy in the plastic bubble like John Travolta, you know all these ridiculousness, but Steve's going one of getting caught up in this Because President Trump criticized Steve Scully as a never Trumper And Scully tweets at Scaramucci Anthony Scaramucci build Trump aide Should Scaramucci Should I respond to Trump? And everybody is thinking. Oh, he meant his put this editor a D. M. He meant to message right scare a Scaramucci directly, but instead he tweeted it out. And that, of course, caught everyone's attention. So in response to that, Scully says, My Twitter account was hacked, and we all laughed at it because it was like the third time. He said that his Twitter account has been hacked. And every time it happens, his Twitter account goes away. And then it comes back once the controversial wait. I'm sorry. There were multiple times that he did that. Yeah, there was more than what there was more that I have. No, it's okay. I didn't. I just didn't realize that okay? Yeah, he's done a multiple times hilarious even worse. Yeah, so so his account goes away, and then it comes back. So that's why I think a lot of people were a little little suspicious about him, saying that his account was hacked yet again. Well, turns out he could not keep up the lie, and he has admitted that his Twitter account was not hacked, he said. I falsely claim that my Twitter account had been hacked. So he has now been suspended as the political editor Force C span after he admitted that his Twitter feed was hacked. And you know what part of me feels like. Okay, good for him. He admitted it. How many of these people especially on the left will ride that denial down into the grand and into their graves? Because they say, Hey, it worked for joy Reid. So it'll work for me and what is left. Do they just deny and double down on denying double down and then they dare you to continue to come after them and most on the right, Just go OK and they walk away, but that didn't work for Steve

Amy Spowart, Head Of The National Aviation Hall Of Fame

Amy Spowart, Head Of The National Aviation Hall Of Fame

"Many years especially when right field was more impactful when the foundations of today's age were taking off so much research with here at Afrl, and there's all kinds of research and aerospace research places that are here. It made a lot of sense Scott Crossfield even said to me once amy, you're not a pilot unless you through right field everybody who's anybody flies through right field, and of course, you know in the early days, there were Ayla celebrity who always came on China and it was John Wayne and Jimmy Stewart. Who's who I remember? My first enshrinement in nineteen ninety, nine Ted Williams came at Joe Foss. We've had John Travolta Dennis, quaid miles, O'Brien all been and sees it the hall of fame event but I would say following the economic downturn of two thousand nine and companies started to pull out of the Dayton area. It was harder to get that kind of support. So while the city of Dayton wholeheartedly loves having the hall of fame here we also Need people who can sponsor because we receive no federal state or local funding at all whatsoever. So we have to depend on aerospace aviation companies industry to support US and in Trimbe it was a big help us getting brand recognition. It's never been moneymaker. It's part of our mission to memorialize. So we need people to support our education and support are learning center through sponsorship. So what we decided to do in two thousand seventeen is actually take quote unquote. Show on the road, the Oscar night of aviation left Dayton and we went to Dallas first, and then we went to DC in twenty, eighteen and Denver and twenty nineteen than we were supposed to have a homecoming here in twenty twenty. But of course, the this year has been postponed until two thousand, twenty one we're working on getting is back to the National Aviation Hall of fame in Dayton use an abbreviation there a F- on the Air Force research. Lab. So. Here Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Employees. I think it's twenty to thirty thousand people in. Southwest Ohio, and only about less than half of those are active military. So there's a lot of research scientists here, and that's where the United States air force does all their most important research everything from what they're going to build aircraft out of to what their munitions do and Jet Propulsion. It's all located here in Dayton at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. Still is very much a hub of aerospace activity. especially from the military and. Speaking of which there are signs that the or the appeal of aerospace is not resonating with the youngest generation do you sense that and if so is the hall responding in some way? It's hard because it's just like covert. The company's nonprofits that survive cove. It are the ones who are going to adapt and react to the situation with kids with this next generation they're not so much looking up lake weeded or the generation before me did Neil Armstrong stood in one place and what's fair to the sky and we all know the Wright brothers played with a little plastic helicopter type thing that inspired them. So we need to appeal to kids in. What interest them? So that might be if they're interested in the environment, they WANNA make less noise from aircraft. They want less jet fumes from cargo plane. That kind of thing we have to say, why not you? Why don't you figure that out? It makes me think of enshrining clap Myra who wanted a safer jet plane. So he thought about it and thought about it and he Allen Clapp mark came up with this idea of putting a parachute on the top of. A plane and everyone's like that's not gonNA work except the vision jet is pretty remarkable. So what we need to do is have kids interact or read about or they have to know who Bill Mayer is, and it isn't just Alan Shepherd. It isn't just the astronauts it isn't just the inventors it's all the Chinese and they can inspire kids more than just an aviation. It could be designed it to be dreamers that could be artists, but if we all have. Heroes. That's what gets kids going and if we give them a problem like make less noisy aircraft or might be a kid who's a Gamer and they sit on the computer all day, they're actually going to be fantastic drone pilots. We just have to recognize what they're doing and adapt to it.

We joke around a lot but I know there are some guys on some difficulty so Just let us know. We're letting you guys know that you're in our thoughts and prayers and we are praying for you guys and all the families out there have been affected so so Dante. We're going to go before eight. Let me get this weight. What are we doing here? Dad's biblical manhood podcast for men husbands and fathers and apparently ladies. Listen in. They sneak in the back door. And listen to what we're talking about. But this is for those of us in all stages of life promote and advocate proven biblical principles for leaving a lasting legacy. So so don't think this is going to be a continuation. We talked last week. We started getting into three untruths. That are kind of like really affecting our our society and this is all based on the book. The coddling of the American mind. I'd really invites you guys. If you haven't read this book go out and get a copy audio book or whatever you do and listen to this because there's really good stuff in there Dante. Naira just kind of do in broad strokes here but today we're GonNa talk a little bit more depth about this book as well and talking about it from a parenting perspective specifically how safety can actually hurt your children and how trying to to What the authors call safety is and how to try to make this everything completely one hundred percent safe safer our children how that can actually cause harm to our children So don't tell turnover you think of this and then I think we really delved into of the background. This I think in this podcast. We're GONNA talk a little bit more in depth on it. Is that makes sense. I know rise in rates of anxiety. Depression suicide among American adolescents. Over the past decade has been going notably higher You know one of the counselors that we work within our church will probably put that video up. I gotTa send that to you but Her name is dawn downing what you're saying. The amount of calls on a typical call will be a thousand calls are now up to sixty five hundred and so six and a half times. What normal pace rate is of people calling the suicide hotline? This is something not to take lighthearted and this book really delve in to a lot of the cause and effect of some of these different untruths or or or bad thought process or policies and we just wanted to delve more into that. And I think we're GONNA probably get you know were before we were looking at university and individual getting a little bit more to the individual and focusing on that and as far as like as legacy parents how we can navigate through this and and put some biblical Advocation Truth and put on critical thinking leads through that with Atlanta. What he got for us. Yeah I will say that that you know these are things that we have to think about that in in life. We're going to face completely unexpected events. There's GonNa be adversity And I think we've seen this if you have limited or no prior exposure to unexpected events. You're going to have a hard time navigating him. I think we all know that there was a. I know this and I don't know if you have this Dante. But there's no kirsten kids who are sheltered and you know Their parents took on this. This of just fear based fearing the world in trying to protect the children and the children went off to college and the children went completely nuts and some of them left the church and some of them just did somebody destructive things because it was like the first time in their life they were allowed to interact with adversity in a hostile world and they just they had never been prepared and they didn't know what to do and so they chose they. They kind of self. Destructed went down the destructor pattern. But I think we're to need. We're GonNa really talk about this. Is that as parents need to teach our kids not to just run away in fear but to learn and adapt and grow and making it more likely that uncertainty is can be successfully navigated You know in a in a system that does not encounter. Unexpected events on the other hand can become rigid and weak and inefficient. And you know nothing challenges the system to respond vigorously and so I think as parents and teachers we should help our learning grow from facing risks and stressors and not by limiting their exposure to them are trying to create this environment. Where you know. They're never exposed to anything that that's maybe require adverse does that make sense day helicopter parent parent. That is a control freak or is trying to put in like safety bubble. You know I remember way back when when I was a kid you know I'm forty five restore so years ago there was a made for TV movie where a kid had all of these situations of risk to health and it was. I think called the boy in the bubble John Travolta correctly for as much of US would like to have our kids in this bubble that they don't get hurt they don't get a scratch on the they don't face bad or bullies or anything else like that and we're trying to micromanage every step of the way you know you're you're cheating your child. You're you're not preparing them for world that unfortunately as much as we'd like to say this is Unicorn on Rainbow Kinda world you know this is a world that has evil. This is a world that has bullies. This is a world that has people that can be downright dirty and nasty and the idea is in controversy. The idea is in raising the kids that we're trying to do. What is the end goal of what we're doing? What is the purpose that are doing it? Are we just trying to raise kids? That are like model citizens that will get into the most elite college no matter what the cost and will will cheat ethical means by which so parents. If you're helping your child take a test. Because it's so much more important for you to get them to the university or the scholarship for sports that you want them to versus letting them fail on their own because they're not doing the work we've got problems and I mean I don't mean to condemn I don't mean to come down on this but a lot of the things that we're seeing. The fruit of these things is pretty serious. And if we don't take a look at identify and really start to say I gotta take ownership
