"Go for with a season and a long as you work hard at following all the protocols. I don't see a reason you couldn't do it now on the phone. Just think about what's happening right now. We talked about this in the first hour, 20. Our rule is still in effect. And for those you don't know what that means. 20 our rules, but the allows you to do when you're not in season workout, she could practice up to 20 hours a week. So Jim Harbaugh's gonna coach Michigan 20 hours a week. You can't coach them on Saturdays and play games. It's the stupidest thing in the world that is stupid. I'm moving on to a false Travis Kelsey and George Kittles contracts will forever reshaped the market for tight ends True, I think we're seeing with the way the NFL is going the importance of the great tight end, right? We love the wide receivers, but guess what? Kelsey and Kittle They're essentially wide receivers with bigger body that pulled you over like they have wide receivers characteristics. They also blocked. They do so many things that opened that makes him so good. And now the tight end market is reflecting the value of that position. So I think now.

"Autoparts Studios. Here's Bill Schmidt. Okay, I love stories like this. So Kenny Clarke of the Green Bay Packers signed a four year, $70 million contract extension to stay with the Green Bay Packers through the 2024 season. Clark, 24 year old former first round pick when he was picked you only 20 years old. He's now the richest nose tackle in NFL history. So he is meeting with the media right now discussing it and this from a guy that covers the Packers says Kenny Clark wants about early last night around eight PM because There. Starting practice today, right first day of practice. Want to make sure you're ready to go, he says. Woke up to his phone buzzing at midnight. His agent presented him with the numbers of four years 70 million, including 25 million to side, he said, Man Let's do it. Who's saying no to that? Hey, So, Kenny, this is what we're going to do. You're gonna be on the team for four more years. You sign this deal on Tuesday, you'll get a direct deposit for 25 million. Yeah. But I thought that was a rhetorical question. Oh, that that needed an answer. Okay. Got you. Sorry. Hide like those are. Those are no brainers. 25 million and signing good for him that that is impressive. That is a big, big time hit. For the market and also He continues to show Where the league is going, George five years $75 million that Was so so well deserved. Travis Kelsey pretty much right after gets himself a new contract. Now I have not gotten the firm numbers. On Kelsey's extension. But he had, like two years left correct. And then they add. It's on top of his deal. I don't know, but he's got more money in his pocket now. Right. Around 14 million is what I had been hearing it would be Right after George kill signs the richest contract by far for a tight end ever. There was The time six years ago. That's a tight end. In Labour court. To be viewed as a wide receiver. And be paid like a wide receiver. Wanted to be the richest title in history. And Felt like he did Maura's a receiver than even a tight and he should be paid like that. The guy's name was Jimmy Graham. Jimmy Graham signed a contract for an annual average value. Of $10 million. Before Travis Kelsey and George Kittle sign their deals. Within, like 16 minutes of each other just two days ago. The highest Ever annual average value for a contract signed by a tight end was 10.5 1,000,000 bucks. Austin Hooper did it this year. When he signed for four years, four years 42. Oh, Hunter Henry had the Franchisee signed this season. And his pay was going to be 10.61 or whatever. That would have been the highest paid tight end and football instead, Travis Kelsey and George Kittle below it out of the water. Four years 57 a quarter 1,000,000 on the extension for Kelsey. Includes 28 guaranteed and it'll keep him a chief. Through the 2025 seasons. Kittel and Kelsey by far have changed that position and it To me, rightfully. So. It was those two guys that break the bank and change the pay scale at that position because A while. They score, touchdowns and win games. Receiving right? And being a matchup nightmare. Both of those guys do what you need to do with that position. George Kittle is one of the most elite blocking tight ends in the league. Any just happens to be a matchup nightmare and run away from people with his speed and elusiveness. And his physicality. Travis Kelsey has been Putting up receiving numbers and making people a bunch of money. Uh, fantasy wise for a long time. He's been a big time player fantasy wise for a long time, however. What makes him so dangerous. His ability to open up holes and be physical enough in the run game. The seal edges and be a complete player at that spot. Kelsey can line up on the outside in the slot wherever you want him to. But when you're More dangerous from the customary position. That's where you break the bank and get this kind of cash. Those two dudes are just different types of players at that spot and tight end is an interesting No place to play either way. You're asked to do a lot, especially in that 40 Niners offense, man. Kittle. Caught what, two balls in that NFC championship game. I think that targeted like four times how they only threw the ball 12. 40 Niners team Travis Kelsey for the Kansas City Chiefs embodies what that program is about. In the 40 Niners did the same thing with George Kittle. They know he's the face of that organization and rightfully so. They paid him like it. With a $15 million annual average rate really good for him? And good for the league as well, Because if you're gonna play that style of a position and you're going to be that dominant at your spot, you should get compensated for it. One of the best in the league, If not the best in the league. I hope we get to see both of those dudes on the football field this fall. I don't know exactly what pro football looks like in the fall. I don't know how Great. The gameplay is going to be right out of the gates. A lot of people have been questioning that.
COVID-19 testing falls in Texas, but spread continues
"Texas has seen in almost 50% decline since June and the testing for the Corona virus while positivity race of more than doubled. Texas A and M epidemiologists say they're frustrated with the state health departments dropping the ball on testing and reporting of Corona virus cases. The statesmen reports, their analysis revealed myriad flaws and contradictions in the States Test data collection system. Most counties, in fact, are increasing their testing. But there are more than half a 1,000,000 tests that are pending assignment at the State Health Department, meaning they're not yet assigned to their proper county. Travis County Health Authority Dr Marcus Scott says Austin's decline in testing is simply because fewer people are signing up to get tested. Despite there being a plentiful supply of tests

"A tight end. That scares the bejesus outta me. Mitch Travis Keys on their Dwayne Haskins. I think the kid doesn't have a home. I think that he did. I think Dwayne Haskins had a Cleveland brown situation thrust upon him in Washington. Too early. No stability. I didn't really know how to read the NFL just yet. In by this time next year. I keep talking about Lamar might be by might be elite shot might be a lead. I think By this time next year, you might already be looking for a new quarterback in Washington. I'm fearful for Dwayne Haskins. The next one on this list. Is going to get some hot feelings. I say Baker Mayfield Now I said it's a shoot earlier in the hour. That I do think he has redemption. Make no mistake about it. While some of us want to say 20 twenty's a Mulligan for people. It is not for Baker Mayfield this team with one and 31 to go on draft. Baker Mayfield. They gave up picks in the first round to go get him weapons. They hired his buddy than they fired that guy to make sure that they could get the very best even though Andrew bury their general manager was there when he was drafted. They've made it abundantly clear. That was John Dorsey's call. There's no marriage. The on ly person who can save the Browns. Now for being too historical. Brown's is Baker Mayfield. There's a lot of pressure on that young man. His career is very much up in the air after what happened last year, the other one Billy, You're gonna hate me for this. There's no doubt that you could ever argue with me that Carson Wentz isn't up for grabs. I know that you took jail. It hurts in the second round, and you've said Well, he could end up being He could end up being a guy who who plays multiple positions. So you took a guy who plays a bunch of different positions. Not as good as money as he might as a quarterback. You took him in the second round. That's what you did. Ridge of plate. Did you take it to the second round of possibly be your quarterback? If you're taking a Q B that high even in the second round. Carson, with the injuries better be looking over his shoulder. When he's healthy,.

"But as Travis is getting ready to leave reporters, call the house and ask him to make a comment. Apparently word has gone now that he's about to take this test and both travis and Wayne, are furious. Travis Phones Gillespie and tells him he's not coming then he and Dwayne. Go back to the Sheridan where the inquirer has now flown in a few psychiatrists to bolster Travis's fragile condition. The magazine decides they want to give Travis, their own lie detector test, but the psychiatrist don't think it's a good idea. So they work at a deal. If Travis doesn't pass, they won't publish the results. So Travis agrees he's got nothing to lose at this point. But when it's done, everyone is in for a shock because according to the test Travis Walton is lying. We'll find out more about travis story when we come back now back to the story. When Travis Walton feels his polygraph the psychiatrists say it doesn't mean anything that. Travis. was simply too stressed. This isn't totally off the wall because polygraphs don't actually test someone's truthfulness test their stress levels lying create stress, which is how examiners can tell which answers on a test may be lies. So. If someone takes a polygraph who's already stressed, it can appear that they are lying even if they're not by all accounts, Travis was extremely stressed by the time. He took this test at this point the enquirer should probably just packed up and left, but instead they decided to publish Travis's story anyway on December. Sixteenth nineteen seventy five the enquirer runs a piece on travis abduction using the story he told under hypnosis. Then in February of Nineteen, seventy, six, two months after the story came out. Travis Dwayne and their mother Mary all take a polygraph this time all pass and these results are published. The police basically washed their hands of this and that's where the story seems to end at least until a famous you of Oh skeptic named Philip Class starts to do a little digging. His name might be familiar because we've already mentioned him in a couple of our episodes Philip. Class was probably the foremost do bunker of all UFO encounters for almost four decades. He was an electrical engineer by trade but became a passionate ufo skeptic later in life. In nineteen seventy-six class starts looking into the Travis Walton case and soon he amassed enough evidence to rip the story to shreds to begin with. An interview. Mike Rogers did with a ufo investigator sometime during the four day search for Travis in the interview Mike Admits on tape that he and his crew are way behind on their logging contract and that he hopes the US forest, service will forgive their lateness now that Travis has disappeared. Ben. Travis's brother Duane makes a surprising comment..

"They are the folks from a pro and a ufo expert who's been flown into further testing at this point travis still hasn't told the full story of what happened to anyone. It's still not even clear that there really is a story there except for a spotty memory of creatures with huge is but the enquirer knows how to get around this. The expert that they brought in is planning to use hypnosis. Now, regressive hypnosis is often used with people who claim to have been abducted by aliens, but many psychiatrists consider hypnosis to be unreliable. In fact, hypnosis can often create memories that weren't even there in the first place making it virtually impossible to tell what if anything about someone's experience has. Happened regardless the UFO expert at the Sheridan Travis under hypnosis, and soon enough in full view of the reporters Travis is remembering exactly what happened to him. It seems his first memory is lying on a table in a room with a triangular ceiling. He looks down and sees he's still in his clothes, but his shirt has been pushed up and there's a medical instrument that he doesn't recognize attached to his chest at first he things one of his friends has brought him into the ER. But then Travis sees the figures in the room. There's three of 'em and may be human. They are short under five feet and hairless with huge oversized heads. All of their features seemed to be underdeveloped except for their enormous dark eyes and their skin is this whitish gray color and they have very thin fingers without any fingernails. Travis sits up, pushes two of them away and gets to his feet but he's very weak. It's almost like they drugged him with something and it's all he can do just to stay upright. There's also this terrible pain in his head. He picks up what looks like a glass tube and tries to break it to make it into a weapon, but he can't. Then he gets ready to try and fight them with karate but the alien simply just leave the room travis goes out into a curved. To follow them but they've completely disappeared. Then he wanders into a smaller room that only has one chair as he moves toward the chair, the walls around him seemed to grow dark and stars pop out. It's almost like he's seeing a projection in a planetarium but for all he knows this may actually be real. He may be looking out its space as they're flying through it. At that point, a human man walks into the room. He's tall and handsome with thick blonde ish brownish hair underneath a clear helmet. But his is strange there. This brilliant Hazel color color that Travis has never seen before. The man takes Travis by the arm and leads him out of the room through another door. The fact that he looks human puts Travis at ease he asks him where they're going, but the man doesn't answer. They go down a ramp into a hangar-sized room past couple of spacecraft and into another small room there travesties three more human figures waiting for him. All of them have the same hair color and the same features as the man Travis's wit. One of them is female. She Helps Travis to lay down on another table. The very last thing he remembers is something akin to a clear plastic oxygen mask being placed over his face. And then He wakes up hypnosis finally gets Travis story out, but he's still has one more hurdle the lie detector. The morning after he meets the hypnotist this Friday, the Fourteenth Travis is scheduled to take the lie detector test sheriff. Gillespie had promised him that it would be private and no reporters will know about it until after it's been done..

"Then, he thought it might be some headlights or even a big campfire delight was so bright it spilled out onto the road in front of them through the break in the trees eventually they caught up to it off to the right about thirty yards away from the road was a UFO. Everyone is stunned. It was almost like looking at a photograph. The spaceship isn't moving just like hovering fifteen feet above a pile of cut trees and it's not even making a sound. Its. Sleek and shiny with no antenna or doors travis says it looks like to Pie. Plates have been stuck together with an upside down bowl on top everyone's eyes are just glued to it, and Travis is so awestruck that he actually gets out of the truck. He has to get closer before it flies away because he knows this is a once in a lifetime opportunity. So he starts walking toward it Mike and the other guys yell at him to turn around but travis just keeps inching closer and closer almost like a moth drawn to a flame, he can hear a quiet beeping. Sound coming from inside of it, a mix of high and low pitched sounds eventually, he standing almost right underneath it, and that's when he hears what sounds like a deep rumble inside the ship almost like an engine starting up the ufo starts to wobble. He says like a spinning top and travis scared now crouches behind a log. Finally, he decides to make a run for it back to the truck. But when he stands up a ray like blue green lightning shoots out of the spaceship electrocute him he can feel it strike him in the head and chest, and after that he blacks out. From the truck, the crew watches travis is blasted into the air, and then backwards about ten feet, they see hit the land on his right shoulder and then go limp. As some of the guys scream in shock Mike turns the ignition and slams his foot on the gas. He just wants to get out of there before the same thing happens to that he drives like a maniac down the twisty Turny road until he has to stop at a small barrier in the road to shake into drive around, it might take a moment to. Catch his breath he looks in his mirrors and sees nothing. So He's pretty sure this thing isn't coming after them Mike and his crew definitely don't want to go back but they realize the kind of half to travis could be really hurt or even dead plus none of them went away alone in the dark woods while the others drive back and search for him..

I've ever introduced that sung sixties covers in the Psychedelic Rock Barn Costa Rica Wall the only one who's intro involved. I'm sure other guests have done it because who has right? Exactly that's kind of par for the course if you're a traveler I want to start out, could you were talking about one of my favorite countries in the world but somewhere, I've never been so little known fact or maybe not that little known if you used to follow way back in the day. Karen I said that my two favourite countries in the world were Slovenia an Erg Urguay but I had never been to either one I've now been to Slovenia but I haven't been to. Uruguay. So I am very excited to chat with you I'm I'm totally shocked what why Uruguay can I ask my? So I think just when I started traveling, I looked at a map and was like, don't like what I'm taking I was kind of like entire nation is going to be taken back. There you go. I looked at a map and I remember thinking. Like where are the hidden gems? Hidden Gems when they travel and so oh, Brazil Argentina and I remember I and I liked soccer slash football and. Howard now I'm understanding more. Colors, the light blue I like Diego Forlan, and so I just remember thinking that would be a coup country to go because everyone goes to Argentina everyone goes to Brazil. I want to go there and Slovenia same kind of thing this tiny country tucked in amongst kind what you would call like tourist powerhouses of Italy and stuff like that and. Yeah I just so for me, it was like those are the two that I just I thought they use are going to be it and have been something. We haven't made it yet. Then that is a good question well. Yet to give you a little bit of background, my wife and I wanted to come to South America for quite a while. So let's say five six years where we've really been like South America let's go. We've still never touch the continent. One of the reasons was we are not and naturally very cautious people but because we were trying to have kids and Zeke was happening and all that kind of stuff especially down in Brazil we kind of thought well, we can put it off like if we don't have to go and I know Uruguay was not Zico hotbed. But of course, if we go there, we wanted to go to Argentina Brazil. So we kinda just kept putting it off, putting it off, putting it off. And now we're recording during covert times if you're listening in the future hopefully, you're out of it by then. But yeah. Now, of course, as an American can't really go there. So. I would have if you had spoken to me five or six years ago than I would have said to you that you have to come anyway for your entire vacations to Uruguay 'cause there's so much to do and enough of people thinking that it says side from Argentina or Brazil. Okay. So I would have said that immediately and I also would have said to you that you know Zeka. Zero cases here and that Uruguay has great public health policies, and in fact, right now we are kind of like one the stock countries in Latin America regarding the virus

"Hello Travel Nerds, and welcome to the extra pack of peanuts travel podcast. The show that teaches you how to travel more. While spending less I'm your host Travis Sherry and joining me today as someone who has hitchhiked across oceans who started off on a four year journey around the world with only fifty dollars in his pocket and came home with a wife and who is a fellow twin Christopher shot author of around the world on Fifty Bucks Christopher. Thanks for joining me a huge. Welcome. To Be Masao, I am very excited to chat with you and I my trial. We say that teaches you how to travel more while spending less. But today you're going to be the one who's the expert in that because you have certainly Done that on your adventure, but before we start talking about all this. I saw that you were twin mentioned somewhere on one of your sights and you said your twin is the exact opposite of you. So explain that how is he the exact opposite view? Okay Festival. From the parents and I have blonde hair blue eyes. I'm about one one, eighty, three centimeters I think that's something like six foot. Tall and my brothers about ten centimeters about three inches smaller taller than me. And but then this is only the outside parties, Brown hair Brown eyes but from the inside, I'm sort of the person who wants to go out and explore the adventures type of person and teas such a comfortable home drawn guys. So he would rob a die Ben leaving his nice comfy home and bad and toilet. So yeah, actually this was what his concerns that I was going on this world trip. You said, okay maybe you don't want to miss this opportunity for all the money in the world, but I wouldn't WanNa do it for the money in the world so tell me why are you gonNa go to the toilet while you're out in the woods and all that? and. We're going to sit here on my is heated. Toilet. Yeah. It's crazy right how you can have the same upbringing same parents and yet be completely different especially when it comes to personalities. I tend to say in those times is benedict. You know that I'm five minutes older new. So once you will hit my age, we'll talk again. Okay. That's an awesome line. It's interesting because you know obviously twins or not that uncommon, but don't be a ton of people. And I'm a twin myself. Now I have a twin sister and we are we are very much different in in most ways like I think people who know US say all they're pretty different, but then every once in a while. And I feel like I'm either acting like her I say something I'm like, Oh, I sound like my sister. So is there ever I? Know you say your exact opposites but are there any times or any situations where you do see yourselves sharing certain things? There's traits. Totally. So especially humour when we will in the same class, only one glance to each other would be enough to just burst out laughing and everybody else. would be like what's going on This is so crazy, and until until today there is no other person on this planet who I laugh with so much like with my brother. So that's really amazing. I love this guy even though we are completely different we get along very very well. Yeah that is awesome and yeah, people always ask me well, how what is it like to be a twin? How's IT different? I don't know because I don't know what it's like not to to end right so. There's also the strange telephone thing is creepy. Mind conduct going on that cannot really explain alycia twin for sure for sure. So let's talk about your journey a bit a journey that as as your brother put it, you would not give up for all the money in the world and he wouldn't go on for all the money in the world and you left on this journey fifty dollars in your pocket no plan. So when you first laughed how long in your head, did you actually think it would last? So, I left on the first of July two, thousand thirteen and at that point of course, all my relatives wanted to know Christopher how long are you going to be gone for and I? talked them off as saying well I don't know if I'd give you a deadline. Then you would say probably after two years crucify you said you're going to be back after two years. So now where you are. and. I when I avoid that I will need as long as I need. So no timeframe at all. That's usually what I said brushed them off like this but secretly I I actually thought about two years and then later on it turned out to be far because it's definitely not enough to get once around the world without

Interviewing Bucks' legend Marques Johnson
"And it's our Pleasure to welcome in a two time Emmy Award winning bucks. TV analysts a five time eh, NBA All Star. Did also play at Bella and won a national championship. That's Marcus Johnson here with us on the Zach Yelp show. Marcus appreciate the time How you doing? I'm doing bills. Everything is no good. All can play good benefits in basketball family from your lips to God's ears. Can't wait to see what's gonna happen in the N B. A bubble. I saw video back in February, You were wearing a Kobe Bryant jersey and you actually threw it down in your road. I'm still dunking at 64 years old. Have you been dunking at all during the pandemic? Or was that a one time thing at 64 district Cream donuts, Bad eye. You must have been nervous, right? Well, every year on my birthday, I do a dung just to see if I could still do it. I didn't plan on doing it this year. Just chill out at my son's a SIA. All over social media. They have got to do it contingent to the one in Sydney one in with that inside, And so, of course, I did a couple of warm up to feel pretty good and And we decided absent phone brought up two tackles. Omar, you know, taco fallen. Whoever jumped over him, Aaron Gordon. Whoever dumped over way last year Next year I'll be 65. That's the official retirement age. I've been retired. I'm Travis. You have to do one more 65 years old. I gotta pay the bed after that. I don't blame you. I don't. I can't even dunk right now. I can't imagine being able to dunk when you're in your sixties. Marcus Johnson here with us on the show. When we look at this MBA restart. We know that the Bucks are the best team in the league. From a record standpoint right now they're going to be the number one seed in the Eastern Conference. The's eight games inside of the bubble. What do you look for out of them where they could really ease themselves back into playing shape? The annex a great question. I was just kind of pondering that looking at the books. Play that scrimmage against neworleans the other night and You know, I just don't think that teams should put too much into the eight. Feeding games. It's a gradual buildup. You want to be planned your best basketball. Obviously when, when the playoffs start. This is such a weird. Praise the different type of experiment. Probably guys. And so, um, you know, see positives from the brother. I've seen not good things about in terms of Kind of fighting since, um, some difficulties against the product in here tonight, but, you know the season games Because boom Jose lost compete. He's gonna want these guys to come out and and just so effort show competitive competitiveness from Paris. But I'm not sure about the ones. The won and lost record is important. At this stage of the game. It's all about kind of a slow, gradual buildup. I've been exploding wants to play all secure here. When you look at the team from last year to this year. What do you see is the biggest difference as they even got better from what they were last year, which was impressive. Well, I mean, ways that it rest values that they're so what he has done that He's given Chris Middleton a breather at defense. Can't Chris I was just looking up Christian defensive record 107th overall, 22nd ranked small forward LeBron and collide As I said at the top. But Chris doesn't have to get all that energy trying to beat this Great three and the win. Clare and I could focus on his office and I was a result becomes one of seven or eight guys who was Trying to suit you both 20% from the three point line, stick to the set plus from the field and monitor it from the people that I think a 20 point today. Yes, I think that's direct benefit to Chris Middleton. Eric Bledsoe also, let's not forget him, Master. He struggle big time last couple of years in the playoffs and honestly, stuff a big farm of the playoffs. Uh, this year, he seemed to be a lot more comfortable in his basketball scared now. It is kind of getting a late start based on tested positive and them in quarantine and all that stuff. How quickly he could kind of get back into a rhythm and flow going to be a big difference. But today I think this team has gotten even better, but local tradition of Robin Has really been a great great move. But John forced our president breaking Robin Lopez, and now we've got two bent beak gets standings and leave so I think the defense has been even better than the great detective team from last season. Marcus Johnson here with us it Zaki help show on CBS Sports radio doing a little bubble breakdown on the Milwaukee butts nationally. The big question about Chris Middleton is. Can the Bucks win it all with him? Be in the Bucks. Second best player. He's a two time All Star. Give me the local feel on that. Our people still concerned locally about Middleton be in that number to peace and winning the championship this year. Right here is where you go. I could go to a barber shop in the hold of the brothers give Ah, little about depended on Chris have the huge games but In terms of inside basketball people, people that have watched Chris closely like myself. I really believe that Chris, it's all about his confident being an all Star to the second consecutive D up really? Helps his belief in himself as being one of the elite players in the league and kept in one of the shooters in the league. And you couple that with the fact that he comes back, he's getting guns for arms and get this definition I've never seen before. His body status. Probably way dog looks really good, really in great shape of the Kalpoe talked about his explosion and bounciness coming back after the four months off was really, really surprised. So he's really putting the work that during this time off to come back and make himself I've been so on. But with president mentally I think that way you get tomato last year, the average with just 14 points in the field, and he left. How Laurie, pending for a big cheque of those minutes in that six game lost to the crap. You have to be enough to love. So you've got a lot to prove, but I think Based on what I'm looking at changes of his body where he is physically brave is right. But I think he's ready to make that statement. When I look at the Eastern Conference, I really do fully expect Milwaukee. To get to the finals. They were in that one seed spot last year did not get there When you look at the Eastern Conference this year, who's the biggest challenger for the Bucks when the season resumes tomorrow night? It's really interesting. You get him some. I think three really legitimate. Even the Miami that mix also, you can't count out exposure and then the butler as your lead gap, but I think there's still a little bit godly hero of none. And guys like that. And then he began by making just a little bit young and that, Betty, but I really believe that Celtics man. I mean, people talk about the Raptors, who I respect about. Nick Norris is a great coach. Brad Stevens was great, but one through four in terms of scoring and issues and problems. You know Jason Taylor planted Kemba Walker is the number one option. That's two through four group these guys to produce and I think about taking on like the game, and that's the most since that Golden State a couple of years ago, but most just like second most 1995 in terms of looking for and then when Gordon Hayward is your fourth option, going going home. What is your fourth option? And then we talk about a container my greatest been, but then this Dylan Brown watching his footwork. Watching the lip bruised stands the finishes in traffic. He's a guy that could be a real problem for team like the book had been. The wild card would be market smart. Distant Jabba, even though Marcus Smart Sixthree export out of 16 11 Marcus Smart office of players and we know how much she just underneath their skin. And so he's a guy that has given me honest as much trouble as anybody scoring effectively and officially against it, So I said that and then the two big catch I mean the pick and roll for five hours straight that Boston life's run. Those two guys found business cancer, pounded it inside a greatjob getting into the paint and score of them that I'm not gonna puke my shot and roll that movies have private medical himself. I really believe that Celtics to me that they're not deed. I think both those four score that they have been a lot of pressure on the Milwaukee ways that do the Middleton. To defend at a high level every night in order to be a minute in a series.

So it's not like we're completely screwing over the podcast audio listeners. Know but giving primacy to eyeballs over ears. This is a video travis. When a play this for you without biasing the jury at all this was Interview with Rick Bowness from a couple of weeks ago. Was there anyone you ever coached? Who Then went into coaching? And you said I cannot believe that this guy is behind the bench. I never ever would have thought it. Well coached so many players over the years. I'd have to give that one thought I'm sorry but no No no one jumps out at my mind. No there's a lot of guys that I didn't coach Ted. I'm shocked got into coaching. Or I one guy who yeah. Let's talk about him. Travis Green in Vancouver and every time I see tells them poems. I must've drove you crazy as a player and so it is Travis Green But Travis again he was. He was a smart hockey player. Really good with the PUCK good offensive. Instincts didn't have the greatest practice habits on all right but then so I know the work ethic. You need to be a coach in this league. But at and give Travis a lot of credit. He went to Juniors Assistant. Koji learned the hard way now. The guy that paid is due. So I'm very very happy for Travis but again every time I seen he said bones you I must be crazy as a little bit at times thoughts Not Surprising. Yeah it's not the first time I've heard that It's funny I think. Part of what he's saying probably has helped me to be a better coach of set it openly and honestly you know certain things in my playing days that is probably embarrassed about back to my H. L. Days my first couple years in the NHL I think that's part of just life. In general you look back and you learn a sometimes the hard way and But you come out probably better for tell us a story that won't get Jeff. I fired that you look back at early in your career and you say. I cannot believe that I did this now. Man While there's lot of them but Alright my first year in the American Hockey League I was talking about Butch goring the other day and I had put in junior in spokane and my rookie season the shell. I think it was twelve fifteen. I can't remember exactly how many games in and I must have been up the scoring like second in the League and leading our team. I'm not sure exactly but I was doing quite well. And someone got hurt in New York and I was back in my bags. I'm gone up for Sir. That's the way it works and I didn't get called up and had a little bit of a lip on probably affected my play and I remember butch calling me in because he knew me so well and just saying to trust them and trust the process and to trust that I wasn't ready to go to the NHL yet and Man He was right I look back and if I would have gone up then I might not have even had a career in the NHL. As a matter of fact I was sitting out games in the H. L. by the end of that season and That was just part of the attitude that I think adjustment that I needed. That you know overall probably took six to seven years. It was it was a long adjustment period but I think it was a much different player. My last six or seven years in the league than my first seven or whatever it was. How then would travis green the coach now handled Travis? Green the player then. Different ways I think that's a big part coaching. Nowadays how you handle younger players how you handle older players and it's not the same. I openly say that two players. I'm not going to treat y'all all the same. Some of them are at a different place in their maturity level. Somewhere different place in their skill level. And you have to really think about how you treat each player boy. That's really interesting. Because one of the things I always used to hear about coaches was the players like guys who treat everybody the same that the rules were consistent. But we always knew for Patrick was there. Were different rules. Look first of all you care if your players say oh. He's got favorites or he treats those guys better than me. I don't necessarily would call it. Favorites I think what I'm talking about is how you deal with people one on one. There are certain things within our group that and I think most teams that it's non-negotiable there are certain things that you have to treat everyone the same way. A lot of that is your work ethic. That for me isn't Isn't negotiable but how you treat players as far as discipline the charity level How many times do they make the mistake? If they make a mistake and they keep doing the same mistake. You probably have to treat them difference a lot like your kids certain kids if you have two or three kids some of them you might treat a little bit different because they probably need it I can recall Bob gaining once talking about difficult players. And his point was paraphrasing Bob. Gainey here he said something along the lines of if you don't have difficult players you're not gonNa have a very good team. Because great players good players are difficult to agree a little bit. Yeah I I've played on bad teams. Terrible teams pretty good teams. You know I think that. Get the teams that are really good. Have a little bit of swagger in them that probably can rub some people the wrong way probably can rub some of their coaches the wrong way. I think you have to be careful as a coach. with those players because in the heat of the moment they're very competitive guys and they might say some things to you that might piss you off a little bit and you might have a a banter back and forth which. I've occasionally have with some of our guys my look back in her playing days. my playing days at team. We hadn't tronto the year. We went to the semifinals. We had you know we had a lot of guys that could rub people the wrong way yet. it was a pretty good team and You know if you have a team with too many angels on it. Maybe play that way but Attend of the day. It's a hard game. It's a tough game and You Watch playoff hockey. The heat goes up and you need some guys with a little swagger and I think every good team has that. Who's that guy in your team like? Who's the guy on the band's be UNM you give it back to each other and when it's over you kind of wink at each other and say we both understood what was going on? I'M NOT NAME ANY NAMES ON OUR T. COM. Guys could probably guess a few of them but you know and they usually. They're usually guys that are one of them's gotta be Home Depot. Once in a while Patterson catterson strikes is another one. It's going to write down the raw mean Quinn. Go added quite a bit. We go back to my lasts. No I'm kidding now. There I think every team hasn't and I've noticed with our group the better we've gotten The more intense some of our conversations are occasionally and I try not to get too hard could but you still have to keep your players accountable and how you do. That comes across different ways at different times. Because you have to say travis like I love watching you on the bench because you look like one of the most miserable coaches on the League on the bench like I don't know if there's a guy who smiles on the bench less than you do well. I'm intense when we're planning I Competitive you WANNA win You want the team to be competitive in an intense. I might look that way but I love doing what I'm doing and I think that's just the nature of the beast when you're Enga- Modin that's part of it. We started the interview off by plane. The Rick Bowness Clip. I'm curious further to that. Is there anyone on your team that you could look at and say I could see this being a coach one day? I'll try to wrap anyone's career up but knowing what you know now but what it takes. What kind of personality need to have? Is Anyone on that team. You look at and you say you know what when it's done for this guy. I could see him behind the bench. Come across a guy like that. I had a player. I won't won't say who was even in the it was in the American Hockey League and Man This guy loved the game like I can tell he really loved it. I've only told this wants to a player. I felt like he was gonNA. This guy was gonNA play as long as he could and E- e- I just know. He was going to be successful at something whatever. He did whether it was coaching or business and I really liked him. I didn't get that long but I actually told them at the end like. Hey I think you should retire. And he looked at started laughing and in the same way and I said I'm saying that as a compliment like I think you're going to bang your head against the wall you're GonNa do whatever you can to try to make it and you probably not going to and I think you're going to be highly successful in whatever you do and think about that because you know I'd like to see you be successful in what you do and I knew he wasn't gonNA quit. Quit hockey rate them and he went on to play another year the next year in the American league and and then he called me or texted me about a year later and He just thank you for that piece of advice. And he was he had moved on and was having success in what he was doing business and in what was nice. It was nice feeling. You know this is not going to be good interview. If you're not going to tell us who you're talking about better. They actually wanted to talk to you about was so your first angel job as a head. Coach is in Vancouver and I think Vancouver is the second toughest market in the League after Montreal. I actually think it's tougher than Toronto and Pack Wayne. When he was coaching the leaves He. He would say to us. You guys are jerks but Vancouver's worse and you and I we have a good relationship but there have been times you said to me like Eliot. What the hell like. What are you going on our radio?.

Casts like, I guess take off white guests because I feel like want to be on your show, but do I count? Yeah. I think you okay as as whiter off. Wei. I mean. Well, now, you're ladling people's let's go you could just sit like halfway in the seat. That's right. It's fine. So for example, white guest, we'll talk to you and your fellow black panel members right and explain how to fix prisons. Let's say, yes. Okay. And are you amazed that these guests are willing to do it? In the beginning. I was okay. Because there's no guarantee of your safety entering that room. People get upset at you the hosts or the people get upset at the guest or both like, Shannon Republic listeners. Well, most of the people that get upset about the show of never heard it. Right. They just read that description, which is admittedly providing provocative, except it's you literally gong. It's white people trying their best. Yeah. L K. But like it's weird to argue. It's not where I'm trying my bad. Yeah. It's weird because people see. People that get really mad about that sort of thing. They hear that you are ignoring race at all. And they think that's racist. Like a lot of the comments are just like, I don't know the a lot of the comments. I get are just boiled down to like your racist. 'cause you 'cause you realize they were white, right? And they they know they come from this weird colorblind perspective where if you aknowledge that they're pertinent distant differences than you're a bad person our buddy while he was making a joke saying, you know, what just by even recognizing something's racist directs. So here's some racist..
