"Travis travis. Snider wasn't the next best gift. The blue jays as but in typical toronto fashion. He got if you remember. He got absolutely ran down our throats and i hated that athlete. And you're young player and you wanna prove yourself to the fans. You don't need the media setting that standard you most of the time. You won't reach it. I mean how many announced just show up and get it done. Look at look black. An example grow junior shows up first day in camp. Everyone's like look at fatty delegate. But but that's literally what's happening. Everybody was using like different adjectives to describe the fact that the kid was out of shape and i had to do is look with your bow cheese as they say in some languages. You're and if you're wearing glasses like you are. Craig you can see very clearly what you've got and the media did a huge disservice because by if you look at it as as at times major league service. He's actually doing if you didn't have those expectations. Say this is a promising player. But now we're anti better prove himself. It's a waste of our time. And i'm like no it's not it's not costing you. What it should you invested in. You've got him at least what twenty. Four twenty five years old so why not surrounded with players. That will protect him in. The lineup pitchers figured him out some protection. That's what spirit can be. Springer can be ridiculous protection to make sure the black gets quality visa. You guys but that's what. I would get him for chaperoning to spend time with teaching him the way to play good honest basil or salt right on it. I i can't keep doing it is As as always throwing slight grenades at everybody. Don't worry about it. So but gentlemen i'm gonna move on. Because it's all in agreeance about the whole george springer thing that it's gonna take a little bit extra for the blue jays finally took the nail on that In turn that up in the roster but moving along to somebody apparently we have made really good offer to and apparently according to what brennan panic cards rick before we went on the air this evening rondo or back to japan for tomioka sugano. I don't know what the contract suggest skies but if they made an offer this is a guy that wore alaska's masahiro tanaka are we getting cheaper then. Masahiro tanaka would be i. Guess the only question Who would like to take the lead on this whole idea. What do you think it takes to get this done if we get him out. Those toasting beats all all say is that Will that I'll give him a shout-out what's his Handle at underscore Underscore that you guys have seen him on your feeds before. But he said that the jays offer isn't where he would like which is why it's between going through going back to japan But it's the best that there is..

"Went back to the same location. The strikes of that, actually, like, three or four inches war. That was what it was called straight. Didn't get it. So maybe Gorman was basically telling you missed one. Two balls and a strike. Two steps such as strong right handed hitter. The pitch. That's ball up and away with three ball count here for Madison Bumgarner. It's only the fifth inning a long way to go in this game. Yet giants are leading for nothing. Snyder, The eighth place center is on deck than the pitcher's spot after him and the Pirates had the bullpen going. Justin Wilson. A left hander, I believe is throwing It comes swing and a high fly ball into right center on the run is Blanco. He glides over? And makes the catch in the alleyway. He seemed to have that one time all the way. Two down now. Travis Snider, the eighth place Giantsfour runs five hits. The Pirates have only wanna hit against Bumgarner, and it was a leadoff single by Russell Martin back in the second inning. I'm gonna walk McCutchen with one out in the fourth inning. Those have been the only Two base runners for the Pirates so far for nothing, Giants There is a fast ball in for a called strike. 112 The only Left handed hitter in the Pirates lineup tonight, Travis.

"Travis Snider, the only Left handed hitter in this lineup. He will face Bumgarner here to open up the third. Both pitchers. During the ball well as we expected I'm Gardner does the first pitch to Snyder and Snyder takes Hi. One ball and no strike. Snyder hitting 2 64 13 home runs 38 driven in Into our numbers he's never faced. Bumgarner before we hit And there's a fast ball for a strike that one on the outer half of the plate that evening account. Spanners got power, but most of his powers middle in really is a sweet decided this ballpark with that short porch in right field. Pitch. I'm gonna file back. That's exactly what he was trying to do. You look like a thin Matt stairs on that swing. It's one and two. No offense. Oh, yeah. Snyder weighs about 2 32 So vocal as watching from the on deck circle is Bumgarner throws and it's strike three. Call on the outside corner. Get with the fastball. I think these pirates are up there looking for breaking balls to strike counts. We saw Neil Walker take a note to write down the billows fastball 94. Here we see Start and I get the bat off his shoulder to strike down as well. And it was the fastball that punched him out. So here's Bocas. 2 53 on the season. The pitch And that was a swing and a miss no balls and one strike. And that was An old for 53 swing and a miss. It does have to R B eyes. And the next pitch is a little lucrative, right? But Hunter Pence is playing right there is he moves a couple of steps towards the line, and he makes the play throughout. You gotta be careful just about the time you make fun of a guy swing. He's either going to knock one out of the Parker. He's gonna blue one too, right? Almost wonder rises. So here's Harrison. Ah, pretty good first time through the lineup for for Madison Bumgarner's. He starts his second time through now with Josh Harris. Not a lot of loud contact first time through This is a guy that Bruce boat she talked about His A key guy for the Giants to shut down. Try and keep the pirates off the board for five lifetimes coming in against Bumgarner. He had a fly ball depends in the first inning. Here. He takes a strike. No. One ball and no strike. I'm not gonna play complain about how high it is. My goodness. Is it high? One ball and no strikes to Harrison. The pitch. And there's a fastball high. I was impressed. You knew he had thrown a pitch game on Different monitors. So they're sinners. Got some power on lean on it to old pitch here if he likes it. And here it comes, and it's a strike at the knees. When it's two balls and one strike you don't get a lot of strikes with heresy is not big guys, 58 It's stocky, 200 pounder. He really has been a spark plug for this club this year. What I hear he had done it every which way to here's the pitch. I'll back. You had a big rip. It's two and two. We've talked about it before Mike. It's that big, tall guys have long arms that you worry about these guys. You worry about defending strikes so well, especially for the belt. The letters. That's his strength. Everyone picks tall guys up a little guys down, and that's the way you pitched Shares down. Here's the 22 delivery. Harrison and a swing and a miss gets away. Posey tracks it down, throws the first and they.

"He's going to get a good job because there are two outs. What? You got Outstanding arms in left field in right field was starting Marty and left Travis Snider, right? Cuts and got a pretty good arm to its average but is very accurate with it. Here's the pitch. Ryan inside with the fastball. This one ball one strike to issue Colin, playing in his first postseason game. Since Game four of the 2010 World Series. In Arlington, Texas, when he was still with the Giants. His first go round. Left fielder Marty Way over toward the left field corner against Coward. Two men on two men on no score. Here's the pitch. And that's another high fastball and he fouls it back into the crowd. Strike two, and the crowd gets on its feet down, wearing their black shirts and their black jackets on waving. They're black. A lot of contrast, is strange on the 12 pitch on the way. Tweeting struck out with the changeup see through and it was a good one giants are retired. I hit the water. No runs. Two men left. We go to the last of the second. Russell Martin will be coming up against Bumgarner. It is nothing to nothing. KNBR in Northern California 100 dealers Radio network. Due.

"Field at a time with microcode doing Kuiper I'm John Miller and with the play by play of the fourth inning with great pleasure we sent it over to David to be Fleming okay John thanks very much out of all pants and belt coming up the second time through down against eligible kids giants have a couple hits plus a walk with the bases and Pablo with the first hit that came in the second in his first at bat now he leads off year in the fourth against voters who stuff looks good no score sonicwall batting left handed against the right hander who whines bad **** said Pablo takes that curveball inside one of the Pablo's base it was just a hard ground ball back up through the middle pirates who do so much shifting on the infield here's another off speed pitches time to change up with their for a strike one and one they do have a a sort of a modified shift on Harrison the third baseman way off the line and the shortstop Mercer pulled toward the middle field straight away Phocas throws sprints out of all hits a high deep drive down the right field line to this what is what and it is a foul ball up into the bleachers but it just took a shower head Pablo seem to know it but that was close get this place pretty quiet a designer strike now it's one and two after the close call for Saddam on the want to bet is high they set the target up through the fastball up and Pablo took it I was over his head and they want to go out of the strike zone above the letters but the one above your head I think is a little high for problems I've seen him swing it before well you're right but not that time to into Claudette's winds stretches and subtle hits a foul loss to the left on the play another fastball the course problem no stranger to post season play and the home run ball has been a part of his playoff story in this ballpark you figure that porch in right field wall twenty one feet high but that's the home run porch for side of all four grand adelpha Travis Ishikawa to do here comes trouble hits a high pop final loss to the left out of play another fastball at ninety four miles an hour and a half back goes on to Pablo this is the second at bat for him where he's really made both his work leading off the fourth inning of the smallest wild card game the winner advances to the division series against Washington in Washington still to into okay as with the pitch on the way at a ball line toward right center field that's a base hit over the plate on the bounces Travis Snider and he will hold Saddam all to a single but I look like a changeup up just a little bit of Pablo hit hard hit another nice leadoff at bat from this animal that could resolve on base I put both his right back in the early stretch position here's underpants with a runner aboard and nobody out and Mike said it very early in the broadcast it in these playoff games particularly an elimination game a walk a single that's a rally that ratchets up the pressure on the guy on the mound Japan's lined out to short in his first at bat he takes a breaking ball in for a strike eighty two mile an hour ma'am Vocus really calls it a curve ball it sure looks like a slider Pascarella between it's it's lovely but it's quick it's big it's quick and it's a good pitcher he's got a nice feel for today middle infield double play depth on one account to pence here comes a pension plans it's a bouncer left sided throw into left field based debt problem moves to second it holds on there so pence's aboard two on nobody out without coming up D. Fleming John Miller Duane Kuiper my critical we're all here in Pittsburgh for this wild card game it's any number for no score but the giants putting more pressure on edits invoke as the base it by sight of all backed up by the base it by Penserra support the catcher for the pirates walk all the way out to the mountains sure yeah a little a bit of a a pep talk going to focus the crowd maybe try to give a little back to he drew a walk he was behind the counter too cold to walk his first time up both kids grows belt takes a ball fastball away just a little bit well you know even with bill came off of the disable the city had been a big league game for six or seven weeks I still had a good are you still staying in the strike zone and not chasing and I guarantee you he's a guy who put some fear in the picture because of his power he has legitimate power no matter how rusty is one of the old account two on nobody out wellcare's throws at bell takes high again Martin several back the first time hence diving back into the base the helmet flew off trying to avoid being picked off Russell Martin who is always used his arm is a weapon that he will try to do that not quite that time first base coach Roberto Kelly for the jazz about had a double hernia screaming at pins to get back to first base and he just did beat the slap tag by Gabby said just it was good throw pence was able to scramble and get back there and the follow through on the tag is actually what because the helmet to fly off this was a boss with two unknown with two on and nobody out scoreless game the patches on the outside we went with the little J. job and it caught the outside corner get all three of his pitches over I could see the change up but all the first inning star to see if you know the second thing is now if it's it's definitely established it's got the changes speeds it also has a nice little break to a handsome movement still ahead account to anyone well guess looks to second and throws a belt hits one file to the backstop cry fastball you'll pick to the change up that little tale that ran away on the outside corner of the left hand hitting fell but he comes right back in with with mid nineties right into the hands so nice to be secret speak with account to to you get the infield shaded to the pool side although Harrison asked to stay close relatively speaking to the bag at third there is a big opening on the left side the outfield is D. from two to two and two hotels with love to strike out Brandon Crawford waiting on deck but to to bed is a curve ball belt started then stopped on appeal no swing that was that was as good a breaking ball as focus could throw big time snap and I don't know how bill held up they give Russell Martin charts out to the mound to talk to focus isn't to say that one again that's exactly what I was thinking Hey let's go back to that let's see if he can hold off one more time hello this is bill the first time up more detailed full draw walks second time up with two on and nobody out he's got the count pulled again transcriber first in score first in this wild card game read to the run is not going to pitch is high ball Ford Valdez drawn a walk to load the bases that's a mistake with less than two outs now you ever at third base you don't mind walking the guy with the first second there's two outs because you have an open face a third but with two outs are less now you set up a situation where a fly balls to score the runner from third that's a mistake well what an opportunity for the giants here with Crawford and any Chicago I coming up bases loaded nobody out if they play it correctly they could get a couple runs across without even a hit from this point forward we'll see you don't have great speed as the lead runner side of all the third excellent speed at second with pence Crawford lie down his first time up bases loaded nobody out the pets and Crawford takes up in a way that changeup that entail to it but it went way up and outside Crawford at a lot of big hits for the giants this year seem to thrive in these kind of spots over one in this game no score but the giants with a tremendous chance bases loaded nobody out Volquez throws Crawford takes a strike on the outside with the fastball ninety four perfect his location the outside corner he got excellent arm in left field was started more tell you have an excellent alright fewer Travis Snider you don't have great speed with sensible third base or sac fly is going to have to go at least medium depth yeah good point your getting toward the bottom of the order you wonder if Tim Flannery would be a little extra recipe every Cicala the eighth placer on deck one one the count use the bench Crawford hits one flowers forget that curb any topic ballots wanted to where is the vehicle could you put to put the ground as a Democrat here you're gonna want to order two counties got to want to speak to for the strike out almost everybody standing down here in Pittsburgh it's the fourth inning the chance and the bases loaded and nobody out Brandon Crawford theatre I wanted to sack he pitches and Crawford hits a high fly ball right field Snyder going back he's look it up it's good fun Crawford has launched a grand slam over that twenty one foot high wall and the giants have taken a.

"In youth sports early matter so i picked pick the sixth highest tallest kids. I read on a couple of football players. I know we go through. I get the first picture. The first pick ever make here is for a guy named steve ibon who was taller than everybody had red hair immediately eric nickname some big country from big from oklahoma state so we get the big country it circles back and comes the whole way through and handing over eric nice. It's getting close. Who do you wanna goes eric. He's very noncommittal. Eric goes your call coach so i go. I'm taking the kid with the unique name and he goes who and i said joey mascaro and he goes mascara. I see yeah mascara. I said i'm taking the cave it cool name saigo joey mascaro now. There should be an e._s._p._n. Show thirty for thirty on how joey was the eighteenth pick and the fourth grade but the park rec draft. You're talking about the best is player in this century from that school district and he was the eighteenth pick in that draft but it changed all of our lives because once we got joey willon undefeated in that wreck and then we went as a wreck team into metro travel basketball tournament where everyone had been practicing together all year running zones we had only ever run a man and we actually did really well in a metro tournaments and then we kept that team together for both metro and took the core group of that team for a._a._u. And we wanted an exorbitant amount of games but joey mascaro immediately gave us credibility so then once you have joe and you pick up travis you unknowing they have to at that time and that time before tribes injuries two of the top up twenty players that great in the whipple. He's he's still not the top five so at that time without anyone knowing it. I kept on eric. I'm lake. We're really good but no one knows it because nobody knows these guys names and we're the only team that's coming from the suburbs of just looks a certain way and and so then we just put the second person that the actual the number one reason why all this happened is alec my oldest and alec <hes> did a lot of stuff off good and bad and he's a rambunctious young guys learned a lot but the fact that matters none of us meet each other if not for alec and that team never gets together if not for me drafting joey and joey being who he is and trav- gave us instant credibility so they're the three pillars of the team. They're the big three you have to address alec. Though you have to talk talk about that well i mean alec you know to to talk about alec in the purest basketball. Sense is emmy very fittingly family. We we call him. Rodman you know and and you know dennis rodman he was a he was a fire starter. He was a kick starter. He just i and this was before he went off the edge this before he became a free he was just a basketball players and he cared about nothing other than doing what he can do and that's the way i look plate you know and and high intensity you know i mean and i wouldn't say that alec necessarily. I guess maybe a little bit but exactly like dennis rodman. I mean he he was. He was a key cog of the mass solutions group. His guy wasn't afraid to mix it up. He hustled he. He was the first guy on the floor. You know he was the first guy if if things you know got a little tense offense between the teams he was the first guy in the last guy out. I mean he served. If somebody messed with somebody you know and the thing is too you know rodman new his game and what he was good at and and that was the beauty of outlook alec knew what he was good at. He never tried to do more than what he thought he was capable of and that's why he he gave the team. Spark me he was the one he was the one. If not maybe the only guy they played with a bit of an edge. You know the the two thousand fifteen group. I think they were so good that you know. Some kids need that little edge to get on. I'm going need something to happen to fire them up. Most of the team was just so good and they were also so much in control their emotions either because they were laid backer occurred. It was just that was just their personality. Alec was the one guy that we had that you know in an instant might take offence to some then or might feel like we you need a little kick start or you know he could get us going. He could get things done the one thing about alec that <hes> you know this might become a surprise to you tom but he frustrated me a lot <hes> so so but the thing that i always feel really proud as a dad about alec and i can't. Let's say this for a number of the guys on that team. There's the four or five that were awesome but there's other guys in that team to play differently depending on who we were playing what the people replayed looked like and what their size was like and the magnitude of the game that never changed frolic if he was gonna do a dumb play didn't win by fifty and he didn't we'll replay the best team in the country and he did it when we were losing by thirty. If he's going to a smart play he did it against the team were blown out and if he's gonna make a big basket he did it in against the shitter and he did the same so he made mistakes mistakes the same way and good things the same way there's other guys who were world leaders right playing the hitters. Good games add looked on the bench who to call in and they were tying shoe or something well. That's that's a word. It's not used as much anymore. You know the coaches like you and i value. It's consistency yes. He was consistent. No matter who we played there's just an and as a coach you know when when you're game planning when you're making changes during the game you know you know you have that guy. Who's consistent so that's it's going to be on the floor for it. You know that you don't have to worry about matchups because he's gonna play the same you it doesn't matter if you put travis snider in front alex he would defend him the same way as if you put brevin masturbation front alec he would defend him the same way he really has. No percents might be a bit of a gift. He doesn't care who you are and in sports. That's yeah that's fantastic. He would manage to get the other guys best player to twice got the other two punch him two different games. They got a bunch of newton one time. They threw him both adams nagas as but that was one of the best players row now for years and i leaned over to the damn. That's a great trade our guys are there any although you and i are thinking that way alec wasn't wasn't no. He really didn't care who it was. You know that's the thing he didn't realize i mean i don't know if we even told him afterward. How valuable that was what he did for the team because alex played the same way yes so so that's <hes> that's the big three we it all started because of alec not have it would have happened if not for joey and being the eighteenth pick in the draft at the be certainly the brady hito barely made the fbi team in the metro late eighteenth pick he'd be like the tom brady six or seven quarterback selected before and then of course travis snider so let's go through a couple of quick things on the <hes> the memories <hes> we both i asked ask you this question and i asked this because breath. My middle son is phenomenal at remembering things and he's also extremely objective in a very self aware but i said to him joey's best game of life and i said to you and him and all three of us say the same and it's down at west virginia when the fire alarms went off they and he had we were down on nineteen points. The fire alarms go off and i said guys they're actually not better than us. Let's just keep chipping away at we get a little run. We'll win. We ended up winning by nineteen and joey. We had like thirty nine member. He was just a frigging monster it well the thing is we had a couple of guys capable performances like that and in a game yeah and again. That's that's why the team was so special. You didn't need one guy. Joey didn't have to be great for the team to win. Travis didn't have to be great norquist. I didn't have to be great for the games well in fairness to joey the the greatest game that he played was against the top team or one of the top three teams in the country in highschool against against an undefeated newcastle team and he had thirty points carried bethel and they only lost potanin that team barely enforcing was at that game but you told me about that he was he was spectacular. Joey louis ended up playing for pit so he was a division one walk on an a._c._c. team which that's just amazing for a guy. That's five eight five nine. I'll give you five ten joe because you might be listening but to walk on and play for a team in the a._c._c. at that height and weight and coming from the whip you'll <hes> <hes> he had a spectacular career he was as you said really laid back on the court he would get excited when there was a run offensively but he was very calm and and so it was it was tough because i would always taught to hate the best perhaps the lead a little bit and he wasn't as comfortable with that but it still lead in different ways mass. That's joey and we're talking about the traveling alec issue. Let's talk about <hes> ryan orcas. What a man. I'm the just just quite a kid. I mean you know when you when i got to know a little bit about rhine and it just his situation growing up and <hes> you know that his essentially was was raised by his stepfather and mother and <hes> knowing that he just probably wasn't given the opportunities when he was younger that you you and i were or even our kids were given and for him to just accomplish what he did. I mean you know and again. I didn't knows house is stepped out all that well but aside from being at all the games but he was there for him. I guess she was his own so i don't know what kind of a basketball guys step that was but his step-dad obviously cared about him enough to get him to the right places.

"Solutions. The world's only noble shit marketing firm and today we not only have a special episode but we have a special guest the man dan who has had the most guest appearances on the no bullshit marketing show tom t rod rodriguez good afternoon. Dave you ready. Yes and i'm proud to be number. One you beating carter out to volley quite quite a distinction and i think this is your sixth appearance awesome not mistaken and today's episode a special because i was inspired by an email that i received and a text about a month ago so a little bit of background. Tom and i both have had basketball be a big part of our lives as players and coaches at a young age and then coaches ah dad so we were coach you happen to be dad's not dad coaches. There's a blog post. I have about that that is pretty significant because dad coaches are a bad thing encroaches you happen to be dads are a great thing and i'm not saying that because i'm one of them saying in general i've had my sons play for dad coaches and that was always a challenge in there's coaches. Do you happen to be dads and then there's idiots who coach as well so that's the third category and we've had a number of those. Tom and i ended up meeting each other when my middle uh-huh son and i guess you'd say i guess you know my middle son in your oldest right yes yes. His alec and there are some similarities. Tommy and brendan played against each other so tom and i met in fourth grade coaching against each other and then we decided to do a you for that great but i had already had an a._u. Program in place that tom agreed to help coach with that group too so let me explain the email. I got an email from alabama than with brian. Gorny and brandon very successful executive sends me an email that says i just want you to know the impact of mass lucians a._a._u. A you had on his son and two other players that were of our core seven that were with us about eight years and these three players at all played in the n._c._a._a. Division three tournament so the cuisine of the march madness and his son was one of them as was ryan norcross and anthony bowmore and then about a week after that i got a text from someone saying did you see this and it was a video when ryan nor kiss this was named the person at laroche who most exemplified the roche colleges vision and values as a student an athlete and a person who gives back so those two things combined and i said tom we have to now do the story of the two thousand fifteen class of two thousand fifteen in mass lucians a._a._u. Team that we were with together for about four years or five years and i think <hes> we end up coaching the high end up coaching them eight years and we had a core group that most of them were with us the whole time a couple came later <hes> and still made a huge impact but that team i've coached since college and so forth and and other things i'd done. I coach a very young age and got the chance to coach some really great teams. Then began coaching again in my mid thirties had some other really only good teams but then i started coaching alec my oldest and so i've had thousands of games that i've coached and had a lot of great teams lot of championship teams. This is the most unique team that i was ever a part of both as a player and coach because of how long we stayed together in an industry and environment that does not breed that morning call masters i had no intent when i was filling out the thing it all started with terrell porter said rapport and i'd known each other a former city of pittsburgh player that was great then played at pitt and he also has been involved with the community and known played with row of pickup and so forth and and he had said to me. Here's sit down. We'll start from its applications. What are you gonna name. It and i didn't know what i was gonna name it so i just said just throw mass lose on there because i'm going to subsidize it because some of the kids won't don't have the finances necessary to play so we'll just throw our name on it so that's how became a solutions. It wasn't really intended to be the sponsorship for the the company company so the first time we go to it says we're gonna play five star basketball slash basketball stars america so i tell the parents okay. We're gonna get shellacked because we're this hodgepodge raj pods of kids from a suburban school most from one school and then one kid from three different schools to get to the top to the kids we had the parents are like don't underestimate the kids don't understand markets as an not under smart kids. I'm saying i said you know five star. Basketball is an amazing brand that was this great guy and they were morgan mountain and it was just i think that might be the name of not confusing him with tabatha coach but there's the guy's name is <hes>. That's how we're garfinkel. That's a diplomatic mccutchen wooten but garfinkel howard garfinkel is as five star basketball so we come to the first game and we go out and we pound this team while it said five star star basketball slash basketball stars of america and what darren freeman true businessman that owns b._s._a. Was brilliant and most people don't know this but darren erin bought the rights to that name for a couple of years so all the parents who knew that five star basketball was incredible thought. Let's go ahead. Have our kids play either and here b._s._a. Was more of a get. A bunch of people makes turn into a business. It's a business. He's making a proper so he he his goal was to get a bunch of people in a bunch. The teams play a bunch of tournaments and not be so worried about the premier words five star basketball with exact opposite premier program only at one team in each area and so forth but we as parents all remembered five star basketball so he had five basketball slash bass will start to america for either one year or two years starts building the brand getting people to sign up and he is the epitome in this region of what is a challenge for a basketball and i don't say this to be mean spirited. I know darren. I think i think he's a hugely successful businessman but his model is volume and so those teams are often in the younger ages not particularly strong wrong so here we were a team that barely could put our team together had maybe five practices and we own our first ever a you tournament we blow them out by twenty and the parents are telling me you're joe uh-huh paternal you were telling us. We're going to lose and i said well. I thought it was the five star basketball brand. It's a good story dave. I liked that start. That's one think about the this two thousand fifteen is for team that essentially was picked up by you and recruited by you. They were highly competitive with the best teams that we saw no matter where we went and and that just doesn't really happen anymore few and far between wayne but but that team there for really a bunch of local kids to compete really the national level <hes> travel as much nationally as much as you did regionally but you know that that's what made that team special they were. They were average joes while they were a suburban program. In a week suburban basketball place the whip who was not a strong basketball <hes> environment. It's not like cleveland has strong basketball environment that whip who has a a decent football used to be great football decent football nell and basketball would be considered below average now not below average compared to you know do you boys or anywhere else pets but across the country. They're in every in other states. There's definitely markets better than the whip you'll so to take him like that and truly compete nationally at the king james classic getting to the final four the king james classic which that's a pretty premier term. That's his national as you can get and you got and they were scrawny too. That's the other thing we didn't have the the six ten white guy you know we had we have six five where exactly exactly a and that arrow was still when you needed big you don't need big men today because if you have bigm another stretch for and so forth but back then you still would have the opponent would put their but on the block and their biggest get the ball in the block and ryan nor casare biggest guy would be covering a guy five inches taller them right so well a a couple of things about a u. Basketball people don't stick together kids play. Now kids plan multiple teams. We kept it where those kids only played for us on the she doesn't fifteen the two thousand seventeen class. They wanted to play for multiple teams by carter's class. They jump to a different team every year. Even though we had that team of carter's group in fourth and fifth grade or just really competitive and carter end up to a team that was nationally ranked after that in sixth and seventh grade and so forth but the fourth and fifth grade versions of carter's team were so really strong long but those parents wanted to go and jump around because that's what's happened is the environment has become that the the parents and the kids are seeing it as a way to jump around. I've coached thousands of games and teams at different levels. High school coached at college camps and <hes> a._a._u. And school programs had many championship teams was fortunate to have a lot of good players coaches win with players and ended up being able to also teach and make some solid players even better and just part of a lot of wins a lot of success winning off and on the floor and that's that makes this team so unique because they were successful on the court and they're now becoming young men graduating from college and so so forth with jobs and ryan orcas was named the person that most exemplified vision and values of laroche university he attended and played for four years two other players also ryan played in the division three national tournament so did two others anthony bomar and justin gorny and tom. You've got to be a part of that coaching staff f which also was something unique because we kept the team together for eight or nine years and only a couple of people laughed. A lot of people quit because like one player was really good. At football. The town we got the ninth grade he realized football is going to be his thing and other guy just was lost interest in basketball but for the most part they all stayed with it the whole time and stuck with us and so did the coaching staff yes and it would i another part of that story that i find quite unique is the the connection the belle vernon connection and because i'm from belle vernon and recruitment of travis snider you know because the vast majority of your team was a south hills team. Oh yes south apart players added gorny later from south park right so you just so happen to be coach. You coach the game against travis. The story goes like this so i'll go go to the travis story. I then i'll come to how everything started so the travis story starts this way. I was kind of fortunate that my oldest son was in a class at at buffalo park that was top heavy with good athletes in they had a couple of ones that were step above but they they had a lot of good athletes so a high volume twenty five to thirty when you normally have ten to fifteen so what that meant was that the actual competitiveness nisa the parents there's a lot of backbiting and so forth because it was difficult to pick the a team the b. team and who was going to be this who's going to be that in both football and basketball that i coached and i'm sure it was the same way in baseball now those teams just turn out to be pretty good because they couple a good portion those twenty five din dedicate themselves enough and <hes> and so they end up being good. They didn't win the whip your anything like we thought they might contend for but that time i was coaching one of the teams that bethel oh hat and they had actually put the other three teams at the metro level some coaches one team while also coaching bribes team breath at the time was in third grade and he's he's on the fourth grade team and i was asked to help with that team so i said to the guy who was coaching with me on this team. I said now look i. I can't go scout this other game this belvoir game to who's gonna get to play in the championship game in the semi-final cam remember. You just need to coach this team. I'm gonna be at another game. Detects me so i met this other game and this this is right when texting began actually because i remember this one of the like i was still barely understanding thing this concept of texting so i get a text i'm at this other game i could texan says we got this meaning. We're going to win the next game and and i go you really definitely oh. You sure you it's yes i said what are they gonna. He goes nothing and i said nothing. He writes back all caps. Nothing thing and i say again i say nothing with three question marks and he goes not one player so now if you if you're if you're a basketball person i can walk into a gymnasium and so can you and so can all kinds of coaches..

I guess she was his own so i don't know what kind of a basketball guys step that was but his step-dad obviously cared about him enough to get him to the right places and <hes> and and i'm just you know jimmy jimmy car when he would yell at me from the stand yeah he <hes> yeah he won game you time out time to ah yeah but the good thing about him was. Maybe i don't know how much of it he really knew what he was saying or not. Saying or just good a good guy fun guy cared he cared about my kids so much that he would yell at alec umbrella in the same way yelled ryan and that might sound weird like this this wimpy generation rim where you're not allowed to raise your voice and stuff but that's not how it should be this. We were just wrong and he would actually like he'd get on bravo and bravo's ducas brad would play a great burst burst and grab presents with young review driving the team doing great then he would do a minute of nonsense enduring that minute jimmy would yell so. I wouldn't after yell and he wasn't even he was there to watch. That's how dedicated jim watching the other grades because we we had three teams many years in two teams every year and wet four teams one year so we'd have four mass lucians teams in i'd coach four strings is great but ryan was just one of the most fundamentally sound players there's ever because he was playing a big position when he was never really that big. He then worked on his shot to where his outside shot was really strong. He was arguably the second best the third best player on that state runner up twenty nine one team from saint seat in the cell that one the whipple and he was pushed off as almost like the fourth guy because because there were three seniors but he was really key to that team then he the next year he was the main guy really the only star took them to the whip. You'll finals again so ryan was just a spectacularly fundamentally. Emily sound player calming influence. <hes> i used to laugh because he would go over and talk. Try to talk to alec. Alec was in one of his fits of rage. He would try to calm joey down. When joey was worked up so he would he would he would listen meant every single time out he be looking at me now. He might have not been listening but he sure faking it if he wasn't but i think he was and he was listening sending and he would then go run the plays to perfection just a coach's dream. He was i mean he he played the big man position when under <music> is number one and.
