"So then you bring the lefty in after a very efficient right hander who's very capable of pitching against left handed batters comes in and single right off the bat. You have run around first, then a walk. Runners on, oh no, then Alex verdugo's drag bunt. Runners on first and second. Then a wild pitch. Second and third, no outs. Fucking great. Yankees have a two one lead at this point. And to me, that was on. That was just clearly on boom. He got spooked by Alex Cory's little bullshit. He made and then and then he he was forced to make three pitching changes as opposed to just making zero, which just which would have been the answer. You'll let clay Holmes face Travis Shaw. If Travis Shaw goes yard, okay, dude. Like, am I will there be a sect of fans mad at Aaron Boone for that? But probably, will like most fans be met. No, you just saw what you just saw what clay Holmes did the inning prior, the collective, the collective, the response to that was why are we doing this? Why don't just leave them in? So then that happens and then the pop ups, then Chad green comes in, gets the one strike out another generous Joe west call, but everyone will get into Joe S in a second because Red Sox goes. Yes, we will. Joe Red Sox fans had no fucking problem when Eduardo Rodriguez got three free strikeouts on awful strike three calls, but then when a few calls don't go, I'd be mad too. But anyway, Joe west generous strike three called a KK Hernandez sits him down two outs. College forward comes to the plate. Chad green, susceptible the home run ball. What are we gonna do? How are your butt cheeks feeling? Very tight. And he got him to pop up to the third base side on the first pitch in foul territory inning over nope, clanks off DJ's glove can't make the play. How I don't know. Few pitches later, pops one up until shallow left field, Gallo on the run, who's gonna get it? It kind of looked like you didn't know who was gonna get it because no one was really moving, except Gallo was like going at 60% speed like if somebody else is gonna get this? Am I gonna get this? Yep, I'm gonna get this, I guess. Runs in clanks off the glove, bounces around and center field verdugo scores, Red Sox, take a three two lead schwarber thrown out at second. Great. So now we're talking about pitching changes that shouldn't have happened. Defensive gaffes that are now killing Chad green's confidence after he's managed to throw what ended up being his third clean frame in a row after all the shit that he's dealt.

"Two and a half out, whatever. I think it's more bias, bias in Lindor, waving at everybody as if my ass is going to be on this team, beyond September 30th, no? Enjoy your last two weeks in New York, Javier Baez. Yeah, look, we like how the subway series in the rivalry, the fake rivalry. These teams play 6 times a year kind of leveled up, made things fun. But my hope here, my silver lining here is the Yankees run with this energy. These next ten games, you got the twins today and the makeup game, then you got the O's, Indians and rangers, ten games. You got to go what? 8 and two, at least, at least 8 and two. John means is in there as he always is when the Yankees face the Orioles. The Blue Jays face like guys the Orioles signed on a dare and the Yankees have to face John means that is what it is. I mean, if you're serious about this, you got to go eat into because the Red Sox are in Seattle, but then they've got Orioles mets, gnats, Yankees, Orioles, like baby teams for the rest of the year. So if you actually want a vault pass them again, yanks and Red Sox are tied in the lost column. You gotta win a lot of these games. If you care about making the playoffs. Right now, the Red Sox are going on the road in the wild card game to face Toronto, which if we can't make the playoffs like, that's kind of a fun option. I would love that. That's what I want to see. I want to see that. I don't want to see a wild card game in Fenway. That's what we can't be towards or not. We can't be tortured in every capacity. If the Yankees aren't going to make the playoffs fine, don't have any of the edge go to the Red Sox in a year that they're overachieving. And having everything bounce in their favor, I mean, fucking the Travis Shaw pickup absolutely ridiculous Bobby's guessing a thousand. Yeah, Bobby dalbeck coming out from the woodwork after a terrible start what four or 5 months of the season. Just annoying stuff. But yeah, Yankees, this is where they got to take advantage. And look, I know I know a lot of the energy's focused on the Red Sox, but I think the Jays have 6 of their next 9 games are against the raise. And the raise, the rays.
Shaw Singles in 10th, Red Sox Beat White Sox 9-8
"Travis Shaw's RBI single in the tenth inning was the game winner is a red Sox defeated the white Sox in an exciting marathon game ninety eight Boston fell behind early to nothing then scored seven runs in the third only to see the white Sox then scored six unanswered runs of their own the red Sox tied it in the eighth before Shaw wanted in the tenth kind of an up and down a little bit somewhere some nights as a team but overall given what we've gone through the last two weeks I think everybody can can say that we we were doing the best we can and it's definitely it definitely could be much worse shot drove in four runs while Luis Robert had four hits and three RBIs for the white Sox Boston maintains a slim lead in the AL wild card race while the white Sox magic number for winning the central is now eleven David Shuster Chicago

"Dugout or, more accurately the bullpen today Hunter Strickland if you missed it from over the weekend, the Brewers acquired Strickland from the Angels in exchange for cash considerations. So the Brewers will be Strickland's third team of the year He started with the Rays went to the Angels and struggled. His best years came several years ago. He was a steady hand of the Giants bullpen more from like the 2014 to 2018 era. But here he is in Milwaukee's bullpen, and this is available. A spot is available on the 40 Man roster because of the injury to Travis Shaw, who was moved to the 60 Day injured list. So welcome to the Milwaukee Brewers. Hunter Strickland. But you see him in a game tonight. I'll tell you who you're not going to see. That's Josh hater. He's pitched in three straight games each of the games against Pittsburgh so not likely That hater will be available tonight for Craig Counsell in this series against threats, all right, It's a very important day. Greg Hill producing the program. Do you know what day today is? Today is flag day. That is right. Well done. You are a patriot. You are a fine American Greg Hill. Do you know why Flight day is such an important day in the baseball calendar? Why is that you don't you don't even want to take a guess I'll take a guess It's probably your line that baseball season has quotes Began. Well, okay. Yes, I don't know if that's the correct grammar, but I think we're knocking on the door here. Close in. Many like to look at Mother's Day is a first check in on the standings. Right. There's always a day where you look at the season and say, Yeah, it's early, and then there's sort of a switch or a date where it's Yeah, it's no longer early. You kind of know who the team is. And while many look at Mother's Day I like a little more of a sample size. I like that West Coast trip. I like a little more interleague play. I like all that mixed in other brewers have, uh, mixed in games against each division in the National League. They've had a little tasting. Of interleague play, and they've had a number of games against the division as you might imagine, So I like to look at flying day as the first check in day. Now I look at the standings. Now I look at who's positioning themselves to be active or on the trade deadline. You start doing that around Mother's Day. Yeah, Too many teams involved too many teams in the mix too many good players not performing yet or too many players who have outperformed expectations and have yet to come back to Earth. Flag. Dane. Things have sort of stabilized. Can you look at the brewers and say I know who the Brewers are? They're a team with outstanding pitching with aces. I'm really three, maybe four All stars and their pitching staff. And occasional hitting that appears to be moving in the right direction. I can say that with a high degree of certainty on Flag Day Mother's Day. I'm looking at the pitching, not feeling good about the offense at all. Today, I feel better about the offense. But as I start to look at things from a trade deadline's line standpoint, there was enough of a sample size for me to look at it and say, Yeah, the Brewers could probably use a little bit of help. Corner infield makes a little bit of sense to me. Outfield still seems to be okay, assuming Lorenzo Cain comes back for the second half of the season. Pitching his donkey strong, but you can always use another armed. I certainly wouldn't be mad at the Brewers found another back end bullpen piece, The 7th 8th inning guy. That doesn't hurt. Remember. They traded away a couple of those guys about a month ago. So Flag day Greg Hill use Flag Day as your representative day for assessing where teams across the major league baseball landscape are in the standings. Who's for real? Or for Ils, as I know, you like to say. Who is not, who is a pretender. Can look at things right now and say that in the National League, the Brewers and Cubs are starting to separate from the rest of the division. The Cardinals have fallen on their face losing nine of the last 10. The Reds have caught a bit of a groove here. They won 8 to 10 only derailed momentarily by the Brewers about a week ago. The pirate Sorry rebuilding team, So there's your NL Central snapshot. I can say comfortably on flag day. Mother's Day would have been too early. In the West. Would you have thought the Giants would be the first team in the National League? 2 40 wins? Yeah, Here we go. 40 and 25. They are leading the Dodgers and Padres. Although both teams are right on their heels. They have separated very clearly from the Rockies and the lowly Diamondbacks and in the East. I know a team is going to have to win that division. I assume they'll be above 500. But right now it's not a great division. It is the bottom feeder division. If you're lining all them up in the National League, so let's look at flag day going forward, shall we? Let's assess contenders and pretenders on Flag Day, not Mother's Day. We don't have to wait to the All Star break because now is the time where you start positioning yourself or at least aligning your thoughts and dreams. When it comes to the trade deadline. You start assessing who might be a buyer and who might be a seller. Flag day, Ladies and gentlemen. Flag Day, a critical day on baseball's calendar that you did not know about coming up next. The sound you need to hear from Craig Counsell. Entering tonight's game will give you the lineup as well.

At that point, he is lifted for Trevor Richards, who strikes out three batters in a row to get out of a bases loaded and no outs situation without any run scoring. Manager Craig Counsell impressed with that performance travel Richards just a fabulous job, the fifth inning when he came in bases loaded, nobody out. That's obviously the best that we've suppressed ending. We've seen him have and that was that was pretty special ending. He really jumped up and make some great pitches. "Level of energy and high level positive energy to this club. That's the word that you always hear when you ask guys about him of him. And it's not without reason. I mean this guy. He has fun playing baseball. And so he injects that personality. It's everybody else. But make no mistake about it. I mean, like, looks really is carrying. This team is pitching staff that has continued during this house trash. They're getting great start still, from Brandon. What you're reporting burn spreading for all to and by the way, Adrian houses position better lately, too, So he's part of it possible kind of Josh hater and boost it had gotten from Brad Box. Burger has certainly helped as well. So it's kind of like an all hands on deck sort of thing. There's not one guy who's kind of carry the load for them. But the pitching staff has definitely some of the most of it so far, you know, energy is one thing, but you still have to hit the ball right and just it's amazing how the home run totals have started to Trickle up here. For the Brewers. This is quite a stretch, using the long ball to click off winds. That's incredible, actually, because this is a team that really wasn't doing A whole lot of that in April. For most of major events is what may 22nd I think they have the most home runs the major's actually and again. It's not just one guy who just got hot and started hitting a bunch of them. It's accommodation pretty much. Four or five different guys who have had a couple homers here and there, and they've added up a lot of contributions from different fires. So that's good to see you, too. It's not just that one guy carrying it a different guy every night kind of stepped up. And that's important for this team in particular, because yesterday built around Christian Yelich, But they also need other guys in the team. Whether it's obvious tell Garcia or Daniel Global back or healthy, called called him long. He's healthy. They need all those guys that Really produce at a high level for this team to be successful Opening day lineup first base casting here a second base Kolten Wong shortstop Orlando Arcia third base, Travis Shaw. That is one player currently playing a triple A two guys on the injured list and another guy traded and here are your first place brewers. Yeah, indeed. And you could add Lorenzo Cain to that that makes as well. He's also on the injured list. So Yeah, it's a team that you hear the word deaths a lot almost to the point where it's like, okay. Yeah, we get it. But It doesn't matter, And it's a lot of quality depth here to where there's not that much of a drop off between their daughter and their backup and a lot of cases and even like hated when Christian Ellis was down, they were still able to to reel off some winds because they weren't just putting some guy up from Triple A has never played in the majors. I mean, they're putting guys who probably would be starters on different teams, whether that's Linda Kidney or Cairo, Taylor Um, on that spot, So, yeah, They've got a lot of production from their death and have been a lot of different guys didn't necessarily count on notwithstanding, of course, William Thomas effects. Willie. Well, what is most likely to be sustained and what is most likely to drop off if you're looking at pitching an offense. Yeah, I think I think the starting pitching is for real. I think that if there was any any doubt about somebody like pretty Peralta being able to be a starting pitcher and a successful one that should go away by now. He's done it so many times that he's seen. A couple of these things have seen him multiple times as well. So it's not as if he's fooling people are doing it with smoking bearers. He's for real. We got confirmation this year on Corbyn Burns success That's not going away Brandon Butcher this year to stay so that stuff is legitimate. Their bullpen, I think will be better as well. I think we'll see a better version of Devin Williams and second half of the season. And Josh Hedrick and continues to roll. The one thing that I still question is their offense. I'm not sure this amount of home runs is sustainable. I don't think it is and I think that they're going to have to acquire somebody for help at the corner infield spots. Definitely solidify their offense in their lineup. Check out will's latest work in the athletic regarding the corner infield situation. You can also follow him on Twitter at Will. Salmon. "Time. 505 Brewers Extra Innings with Matt Folly on WTMJ, the 12 pitch Ball deep right center field. Back on. It is Raya's at the track. He looks up in houses up off the warning track and into the bullpen, and the Brewers have walked off the Tigers on Memorial Day. 32 10 inning win for the Brewers Take the first game of a quick two games Syriza against the against the Tigers. And though you're get back at it against them coming up tomorrow evening, when it's going to be Eric lower against Mathew Boyd, but the Brewers on quite the win streak, they've now won five straight games in their last coming in. They were seven and three in the last 10. So the plan's a good baseball right now they're finding ways to win. Obviously. From an offense of standpoint not a great day today, scoring the three runs in 10 innings. I do it. We'll talk about this later on in the program. I still think it's a little bit startling, at times the pictures that they're facing and the numbers that some of these pictures have, and then the brewer just can't do a whole lot against him. So you don't complain too much about a victory. It's it's a win, and it's a good win. But we'll get into that coming up later on as well. Did you bring back in former Brewers pitcher Jerry Augustine and Auggie One bit of bad news coming out of Craig Counsell's press conference, which will air here in about 25 30 minutes. We hear that Lorenzo Cain is headed back to the injured list. That doesn't surprise me after he made that catch running in There now. He he's the one who basically came into the dugout. At that point, he didn't call the training staff out. He started coming in. And when you see a guy like Cain, who takes so much pride in being able to, you know, play on an everyday basis. When all of a sudden he's Taking himself out of a game. To me. That's probably not just a day to day sort of deal. That's something that's more significant, so unfortunately for cane, it's another stent on the injured list for him. Yeah, you saw when he came in. He may just He made a great play on that ball. Is him coming in and moving Louise through. Yuri is going out and he had to make a little just adjustment is route as he's coming, after all, made a great catch. But you could tell after he made that catch. He kind of Winston little bit. And then you some feel the back of his back. Was they dad? Something had happened and But he made it. He made the great catch. He understood that. But when you make those adjustments on certain times when you're extending yourself, you make those adjustments. Sometimes you you come up with little bit of a pull, and I think that's what exactly what happened right there and It's unfortunate because he means so much this ball club. He's been swinging the bat getting on base playing Great center field, and he's definitely gonna be missed if he has gone to hell for extended period of time. When he came out of the game there. That was a really weird moment with the movie that was made because what you can clearly do in that situation is just bring Jackie Bradley Jr in and make it a straight switch. You got a little bit more funky beyond that, because they took test in here A and moved him from first base out to left field first time in a professional game he had played in the outfield. Although he did. He came up with an outfitter. He played outfit a little bit coming up when he was in when he was playing college baseball. It's just not something that he's done. Since he's been a professional, so he's out in left field that required them to move Christian Yelich from left field to right field. Travis Shock came in to play first base, but they lifted Visa Al Garcia, and if the Brewers would have lost this game today, I can promise you the number one topic of discussion that we would have would be the decision to lift Garcia because Garcia spot it came up there in the ninth inning, and they ended up using Manny Pina as a pinch hitter in that spot, But Garcia has been one of the top hitters in baseball in the month of May. And they lifted them. Auggie. I don't take a lot of issue with the with the decisions that Craig Counsell makes. But I always you know, when people accuse me of being just a homer and carrying water, and things like that I always make common will agree with a lot of what Craig Counsell does, but not 100%. This goes under the category of things that I would disagree with. I did not love the fact that they lifted Garcia and that spot. It seemed like something that they did not have to do. That was definitely an interesting situation where the moves that he had to make especially you got Jackie Bradley Jr that you can utilize and they all feel and keep your I'll feel very stable and make. It could continue to have a really good I'll feel it was kind of interesting The move Daddy Daddy did make and putting Kennison putting testing out in the field that it was interesting how First batter comes up in the It's a left hand hitter of it's one of those sinking line drive to left field and he makes a nice play out and he made a nice play on that and everybody else thought there's only two hours. He knew there were three out, so you know credit to test and he made up only did he make that a good play there, But he made a great play on a diving stab going down on the ball hit by Grossman and a couple innings earlier, but It was interesting to see what crib was interested, See why Craig made those moves kind of unusual. I know if he was thinking about later in the ball game and keeping things a certain way and getting Travis Shaw, who's gonna lead off the next inning up up there up to the plate, but kind of unusual I don't know if I would agree with it. I sometimes and I don't understand exactly how His approach was, but I think he was thinking about the next inning and probably have thought about it prior to the Lorenzo Cain issue on what he was going to do so it worked out well, Keston did a nice job and and the Brewers win, and I think that's the main thing. Yeah, and to be fair shot goes to for two. He goes. He comes up with two hits. So he's the guy who comes in in that moment, and he does come through those two hits. Don't impact things too terribly much, but he did his job by going two for two. So that's a That's a good thing. Um, and I thought it was fun. I believe that Caston was using Garcia's glove. I think Garcia just handed him his outfield glove and he went out there. Because you wouldn't think that here here already has a you know an infielder's Mitt. He's got a first baseman's mitt. Now maybe he asked to reinvest in an outfielder's glove if they're going to continue to use him out there. You know, you get Paul Pierce her struggling, and we all know what testing here is struggling at the plate is just, you know, today, the first two times up. You hit the ball hard and was right at somebody and those things do happen. And then he struck out on a fastball opened in that later on the game. But you know, when you get those guys you keep involving you trying to think of positive things. And I thought the neatest thing that want to need things today was Testing out in left field, who hadn't played professional game. I'll go in the outfield and has to make a catch on a sinking line drive and those history else and he had that little smile on his face. Then he goes and executes the bunt and that played big in this ballgame because of those were able to score. And you Reese is, uh, Basic to right center. So you've gotta think in there I think of something along the lines is you're trying to keep a guy positive in the keep mini game and keeping positive And I think when you look at the offensive side, the blood was positive. Ozuna, Albies Go Back-to-Back as Braves Beat Brewers 6-3
"Losing to the Braves starting pitching matchup in this one. Adrian Hauser on the mound for the crew. Drew Smyly going for Atlanta would be the Brewers, who would strike first in the bottom of the second inning. Avisail Garcia leave the inning off with a double A Travis Shaw ground out moves Garcia to third. And that brings up Louise Aureus. Now the pitch swinging a bullet hit after global Dansby Swanson in the left field on Gloria's will get the runner home sound. They score that one. I think it's gonna be in areas should have caught it. At least for now. That's being ruled a base hit. Although Dansby Swanson would commit an air later on in the inning, But the Brewers weren't able to take advantage of it. They get the one run on two hits. They strand two runners there in the second and say one. Nothing game going into the third. This was a neighboring houses would start to a run into a little bit of trouble. Very angry and so would lead the inning. Awful. They walked and Freddie Freeman with line out a wild pitch from Hauser would send Adrian's a two second. Then they walked to Marcela Zuna that puts runners on at 1st and 2nd. Ozzy al Bees, then lines out. But then Dansby Swanson walks so that loads the bases for Austin Reilly swinging a bouncer off of Hauser. Deflection. Maria's can't get it. One run is in house is going to come in. Ozuna scores to make it a 21 Atlanta lead It deflected off of Hauser. Horace was going over to get it and he might have had a chance to get it if it doesn't hit Hauser That would push wants into third than William Contreras is hit by a pitch so multiple walks a hit batter there in the inning. Hauser would get out of it with a strikeout to enter and see our days. The Braves leave him loaded. They put do put two runs across there in the third, and it is a 21 game. That would be it for
Shaw, Lauer lead Brewers past Bauer, Dodgers 2-1
"The pitching matchup was a mismatch but was Eric Lauer and the bullpen that helped the brewers nail down a two to one win over the Dodgers Lauer pitched the first five scoreless innings and four relievers were good enough to outdueled reigning Cy Young Award winner Trevor Bauer Bauer had one blemish he gave up a fourth inning two run Homer to Travis Shaw in his complete game four hitter Shaw says the brewers knew it would be difficult to score on power it's tough to rack up a bunch of hits after it against a guy like that so when he makes a mistake you got to kind of capitalize on it the Dodgers have a couple of rally snuffed out including in the ninth the Dodgers scored against brewer closer Josh Hayter with then got Mookie Betts to fly out to right field to end the game with the potential tying run on first base Chuck Freeman Milwaukee
Peralta pitches 5 innings as Brewers blank Cubs 4-0
"Freddy Peralta into relievers combined on a one hitter is the brewers blanked the cubs for nothing Milwaukee jumped out early on a first inning three run blast from Travis Shaw Toronto saying the early offense was a nice gift within days so there's different you know that we I have I know that I have to be competing for keeping game will sit on the walk in there and live close by is different when you know you're going to need to win the first five innings giving up just one hit a double to Kris Bryant while walking four and striking out eight Brent Suter and Brad Boxberger then tossed the final four shut out innings with the victory the brewers improved to two and three on the still young season while the cubs fall to three into David Shuster Chicago

"We'll talk a lot about the report that came out this week Jonathan regarding the Washington Redskins in the Washington Post, or the team, formerly known as the Redskins, the Washington football team. 15 former employees have alleged sexual harassment and verbal abuse. Killing time in the Washington Post. This has happened since 2006 to 2019. More on that story later on, we have some breaking news in Major League Baseball. The season is set to begin shortly. But the Toronto Blue Jays have been denied approval by the Canadian government to play in Toronto. It will not be playing at Rogers Centre because of the Corona virus pandemic. Quite frankly, Jonathan of the Canadian government doesn't want teams coming from the states to Canada. Nor do they want the Jays, leaving Canada and then coming back. I mean, the timing of this is horrible for the Blue Jays because again this season is supposed to start here in about a week. It's really a microcosm of our society right now, when it comes to covert 19 where things that thrown against the wall and just all of a sudden you're making a decision, and you're saying Oh, well, by the way, you can't play here. Or you can't be here and it's just It's just amazing that the Toronto Blue Jays that means so much to the province of Ontario, Canada, in particular, can't play in their own home stadium. And so now, the question is, Where can they play? And the first thought I had it first was to plan their spring training home. I've done it in Florida. Looks like that. That's out, too. There really isn't a A home run choice here because they could go to Dunedin. Problem there. Of course, that everyone realizes is that Florida Jonathan has been so hard hit by the Corona virus. Lately, there's been a surge in cases in Florida. Players have already said on the record. They want to play in Toronto. They've got a good set up. At Rogers Centre. If you've been there before, I only been there once, but they have a hotel. Attached inside the stadium. So everything is taken care of. For them from a safety standpoint and plus, unlike us here in the states, Canada has flattened the curve of covert 19. So the players have said We want to play in Toronto. Well, that's not gonna happen. Donnie Donnie is in Florida, which isn't very safe now. The other option. Is. The Jays have their Triple a affiliate in Buffalo. Which is right across the border. Problem there, buster on. Lee reports that one of the concerns is that Quality of the lights at the Buffalo minor League stadium are regarded as worse than MLB standard. I understand that completely, however, Jonathan It is July 18th. And the Canadian government is just saying Now you can't play here. How about maybe two weeks ago? They make that decision. They reached that decision so they could have gotten better lights installed at this Buffalo Stadium. If you were to ask the players, my guess, Jonathan, if the choices are Buffalo Or done eating Florida. I bet most would say Buffalo, but if the ballpark is already what do they do now, But it's a really interesting question, and I don't know what they can do. I think that If you're looking for a new lights, Jeff, you can get those things and put those things up there and get him installed. Now again, it's about how you testimony of the year's off a few days that they have and see whether or not they'll take hold there. Remember and Wrigley Field the first life they were put in. There were dark spots in the corners, so it's never perfect Science back in 80 Eight for when they put their lights in a So 88 member then. Yeah, I do. And so same thing here. I mean, they could be able install lights and then get started. But the point is the reason why that this is a story is it just shows you once again? Where you're doing things at the last minute. You know that Covert 19 has been a story a major story for us in this country and in North America and now across the world since March, right? So here we are in July, and the Major League baseball team has no place to go by the way. Shut out. Tio Travis Shaw, a Blue Jays infielder, who said a few days ago I'm not interested in confining myself to a hotel attached to the Rogers Centre for the summer, if makes like baseball's granted an exemption from the Canadian government to play baseball in Toronto amid the pandemic. All right, Travis Shaw. We want to play now. You don't want to be someplace where he'd been comfortable. Right? Toronto, your own stadium. There's ah hotels you mention attached to this So now you can't plan Toronto. So what do you want to go now? Travis? What do you want to go now? Who knows they don't have anywhere to go right now. Dickerson and Hood. It's ESPN radio and the ESPN and now I don't want to make this into a political debate here. I understand the seriousness of Copan 19. I guess my question Another thing I thought of when I saw this story come out Jonathan just minutes ago on ESPN dot com. I said, You know, I understand what with Katie in government is saying they have done a very good job of flattening the curve in Canada. They want to keep their citizens safe. I get that entirely. I just wonder, though. If you're gonna have people coming over the border These major league players and these major league personnel. People are being tested several times per week. I mean, I'm just wondering like if by letting these players in How much of a risk are you really taking that the cases we're going to start surgeon? I don't know. I'm not a doctor or scientist or anything, but I just thought Jonathan, if people are going to be let across the border Wouldn't you rather have people that are going to be subjected to rigorous testing protocols like these Major league baseball players are going to be well, yeah, And I think that the thing that we've gotto bring out is that the Canadian government has all these hockey teams. That's going to be part of the National Hockey League on. But yet baseball players can't cross the border from other cities and be able to play in Toronto. Listen, What's the big difference there? There's gonna be a ton of teams in Canada playing hockey, and they're going to be tested right on a regular basis to make sure that they don't have covert 19. So why does what are the Blue Jays being singled out? That's not right. I think the point they're trying to make there is that all the hockey teams are going to be in Canada indefinitely in those two bubble cities. I guess their concern is if the Blue Jays go play the Rays And they go down to Tampa and then they go someplace else. Then they come back to Toronto. What are they bringing with them back across the border, And I understand. I mean, that certainly is. A legitimate concern. I'm just I'm just curious. Like what? How high really is that risk is that high enough to To sort of derail their season. I mean, they are your team, It would seem like they have a good setup at Rogers Centre. Now you're going to displace all these people. It's almost like Okay. We want to keep people safe, However, were willing tto make the Blue Jays more unsafe. Does that make sense? Like you really are? You're you're now putting the blue Jay players. In a much less safe scenario by not allowing them to play their home games in Canada. If teams go into Toronto, the play that Blue Jays the protocols are the same. The team that comes into the into the country and into that city would have to be tested even before they have an opportunity to play on the field..

"Is a lot of money for anyone, even professional athletes. But that's how much could be on the line. If any of the Toronto Blue Jays actually end up breaking quarantine up north of the border to talk about that is Scott Mitchell from T s and you can follow him on Twitter at Scotty, Mitch TSN Scott. It's Chris Carlin, along with Jeff Dickerson here on Game night on ESPN Radio and the ESPN app. We appreciate the time $750,000 If you step outside the bubble could that possibly Be correct and enforceable. Yeah, well, I think some of the some of the kind of the confusion down both of the border was the fact that the federal government the blue Jay had to get a federal exemption from the government to come up here. Tio skirt the quarantine rule, which is a 14 day quarantine rules, as well as the closed border for nonessential travel. So The Blue Jays kind of negotiated this through the federal government through the health authorities obviously taking the pandemic, the corona virus pandemic very seriously up there. So that is the max penalty in terms of breaking the quarantine act. So that is $750,000 punishable as well up to six months in jail and Blue Jays players were worn once they got up here that they would be subject potentially to the max find just because of how it was negotiated in the fact that the government made an exception for training camp held up here, So it's a really hefty sum and got the players attention when they heard that for sure. And Scott, How have the players reacted to that possibility? And what has been The sort of the feedback from the players about the possibility of having to be in a quarantine typesetting until the end of the regular season. We'll look, it was interesting because they know they're up here for the next couple weeks for the summer camp. They don't have any clearance beyond that would be up here at this point, But when you look at the reality of the situation and the reality of what the federal government appear, has done It's not going to change much. Travis Shaw, You know, TJ's third baseman, now. One was first base in a couple days ago before they shifted body over. He took exception to the fact that they would have to be up here all summer, which Charted a little a little bit of a storm up here because you know it's going to looking back to the same, traveling down south to places like Florida for their season opener on the 24th. The Canadian government isn't going to let them back in without a 14 day quarantine, period, so if they're coming up, going down, coming back up teams coming up here, they would have to be quarantined as well. They would be in the back. Same situation, so No. The Baltimore Orioles here for three games. Siri's, They're not allowed to leave the footprint of the stadium, which had the hotel attach s. Oh, these guys are quarantined in this little bubble, and many players expected it just be for training. It's not going to be that if they do get federal approval, which is looking 50 50 at this point, so it's going to be through September 22nd coming coming back. Every time you come back from a road trip, you're going to be stuck in the whole challenge Stadium area and, you know, I think some players. They're okay with it if they want to get through this, even in some players You know, for different circumstances, whether it's family reasons whether it's in fact, I just don't want to be in a hotel room for the entire summer, you know, aren't exactly happy with 20 the interest in the feet whether they get approval or not, And if they don't back down, even or eventually on alternative, like playing in the minor leagues stating in Buffalo Scott Mitchell TSN up in Canada covers the Blue Jays with us done eaten a real possibility, considering what's going on down in Florida right now, and how bad things have gotten orders. It just a simple is trying to bring it back across the border. A CZ you mentioned that Buffalo? Is it a contingency plan? That's more likely than maybe going down to the spring training complex. Pull up. The interesting thing is everything keeps shifting. Right. If you talk to him three weeks ago, the Blue Jays were fully prepared to go play and done eating. And then the fight happened. And obviously the case voted still kind of out of control there so that Not an ideal scenario. And when you look at two options that they were loved. It's up here first, because obviously every other team 29 other major league teams playing in their home stadium with all of the resources that come along with that. And then when you look at Dunedin, that's their spring facility. They just a bunch of Reynolds down there, so they've got all the resources and infrastructure they want for those air options one and two. They both looked unlikely to the border and like you said the caseload down in Florida now that they're really scrambling for alternatives in the Triple A affiliate is in Buffalo, so it's only about an hour and 1/2 drive away. From Toronto. But when you look at the situation down there, it's infrastructure. It's a Triple a facility. I don't have the batting cages. They don't have the right resources to be able to house a major league game and the other issue is the lighting and Moby regulations so they would have to install new light. Things like that. So there's a little bit of Ah capital investment that they have to make it. Go play down there Right now, You know they have two weeks and they don't know where they're going to play. But they've started investigating a few different places in major league baseball to say in this, too, and if they don't like the situation, they could say you go play in traffic in a field with rage. That was one of the options on the table. And recently it's probably about a month ago, but Same thing. They would have had to invest in a clump down there because the Rays don't have a vote for themselves. Right now, you know, the Blue Jays. They're in a very unique and probably unenviable, enviable position. As you know, the only team of the border in the way. Scotty appreciate the insight, and it's great to hear the crack of the bat behind you. That's for sure. Yeah, there is some baseball going on. We keep forgetting about that. Scott Mitchell From T s end up in Canada. You can follow him at Scotty Mitch T s and meanwhile, the MLS is back tournament little bit of a setback there today we're going to get an update from our insider coming up. In moments. It's next game night on ESPN Radio and the ESPN. All right, guys lock in less than two weeks from the schedule turn of baseball and basketball. There's a lot of things that complain about this year. The weather. The last two months has not been part of it. We have plenty Plenty of sunny days. We would love some to go around and we are looking. Ah, really experiencing one of the few Washout days. We've had the entire last two months, so we desperately need the rain. "That combination is the formula is the formula for the face of base. So has there been face is a baseball before and and we're just in a drought? Is that what we're saying? Like who was the last face of baseball. Alex Rodriguez. Probably Peter. Probably. Cheater. Yeah. There you go. Now, maybe wasn't the best, but he was very, very, very good and charismatic. So that you need that combination. So, Yeah, I think Jeter was probably the last guy. I think today is those almost like Jordan in the In the years after he retired, you asked people around the world, they would say, Jordan, who's the face of basketball? They still say George. They may say it today, even with Jeter was the same thing. I think even in the couple of years after we retire, who's the face of people would say Jeter? And again, they may say today I'm talking about the casual, not even baseball fan. It also just a casual sports fan. So until we find that person, Jeter's the last guy, you're right, man. Just think about how sad that is. Peter stop playing in 2014. He was 40. At the time we stopped playing six years ago. Baseball still doesn't have someone that's emerged as the face of baseball. Because their best players don't have the best charisma or personality where we want to call it or don't play in New York. I don't know It's whatever combination No one has the right combination to be that face. You just nailed it with that to add in the playoffs. Since you have limited playoffs, you have limited amount of people who participate each and every year. The Yankees were there for the majority of geezers career. Why so wise? Why does that matter? Not only is he a winner, but then we also see a lot of them Write like, Think about someone who's watching playoff baseball. How many times have you seen Mike Trout? Yeah, I wasn't. I wasn't no sea trout, right? I wasn't of age when Reggie Jackson was doing his thing, But Mr October there is right. That's the stage. That's the New York stage, right? That's also by the way. Here's some news out of two rods. You see this Scott Mitchell from TSN tweets this Here it is. Sen is like the ESPN and candidate. Here's what's going to keep bluejays players in their stadiums. Last hotel bubble per multiple sources. Players have been told there penalty if seen outside the ballpark is $750,000 potential jail time now Travis Shaw's a former Milwaukee Brewers, Boston Red Sox players with the Blue Jays. He Retweets then says, we were told two weeks not all summer all summer. Is a bit much, but just the fact that for two weeks here if you're seen outside the ballpark, give us $750,000. Fine and potential jail time. What's going on up in Canada? How can they possibly enforced that? I don't know. I mean for the team there, Not there, not the government. They can't In prison. You $750,000. Fine is ridiculous now where they're Blue Jays. Play, of course, famously has a hotel in the stadium. And that's where both the home team, the Blue Jays and the visiting teams will stay along with the umpires. Once you get in there, they don't want you to leave. Now this player is saying is we were told for two weeks, maybe just the first couple weeks while in Canada Thiss report from Scott Mitchell didn't say the length of time you know, he says this summer, he says this summer, so Travis shots pushing, pushing back on the fact that it's this summer. But wow, even for two weeks, if you go out you could be. You could end up in jail. That's incredible. If you want to join the conversation 3123323776 Let's go out to Julian in ST Louis. Julien, what's up, my friend? Hey, how's it going, guys? Good. So I just had a question for Jesse. So you guys were talking about what? Because I had to choose between Bryant and bayous. What happens if this year they both have like an M P m v p type, like season like I know that's a long stretch. But do they still have to choose between or do you think they're trying to find the money somewhere? I mean, I don't know if 60 games is going to change the narrative for the front office, and they like Kris Bryant. They like copy by is it's not about having a good year or not, I guess if if Chris has the great year and by his doesn't I mean does that you know, I mean, like I don't know exactly how the six Yeah, I don't know how this 60 game season is going to change the thought process in the front office. All I can tell you is by his was much closer to signing a long term deal than Kris Bryant Wass. That's all you'd tell you. Then we'll get the first contract. What? What's that? You think by then we get the I d like to I do. I think they pick up where they left off. Though the parameters of the deal might be different. The conversation picks up where they left off. But what do I know? I mean, Chris bright. The other day made it sound like he wants to be a cup more than ever. So maybe he's telling Scott pores. Hey, Scott, come November 1st. You get on the phone and let's work this thing out. I don't know what's what's being said behind closed doors because things may have changed due to pandemic. All right. Let's move on to Dean, who is on his way to Wisconsin Indian. What's up, man? Hey, what's going on, guys? Long time, So you guys were talking about the face of baseball? You said Peter, I think that you bring up baseball. Like who the faces. I think it's thrifty all day of the week. Not not now. I don't think if you ask people around the world around the country who the face of baseball is they're not going to say can't graffiti junior I mean, when did Kendall pointer anymore? But they're not going to say Ken Griffey Jr anymore. I mean, I know you know, they may have said it at the time he was playing. Right. He probably fits the bill that was like the head with the hat backwards here, but you could have said Barry Bonds. Also with that hanging airing in the way he was killed, and the numbers he put up, But the same good, just that's the sad thing. Like as we sit here, me, you, Chris, the listeners. We talk about the face of baseball. We keep going back to players that no longer in the game, right? You're in the game. Graffiti stop playing 10 years ago. He's already in the Hall of Fame. Yeah, that that's what's sad about this conversation. Maybe it has to do with the pace of play. Maybe that's why they try to make it more entertaining every year by changing the rules. I don't know. I can't even recall while Griffey was playing. I know it sounds easy to say was I think he was it was him. Very johns. It was a rod..
