"Were the four guys when I cover that team. No one's messing with Fletcher Cox. You should decide who's gonna mess with him, and he's a leader paid well. That's someone a leader on the team. Down the organization. I'm not happy with the decision. Now I should have done it. Probably not Probably not the best thing to do but the Eagles ever since that several victory very dysfunctional. Next up, Let's go to Jerry Jones. Jared was on 15.3 the fan and Dallas and when it is, I want to fight through the fan in Dallas. He said that Prescott needs to learn how to avoid hits like Russell Wilson quarterback in Seattle is the best I've ever seen at sustaining success with his mobility, but he sure is good at it. If you notice him, boy, he just does not Get hit with a lot of impact. And so that conduce that back will do that, and he can of toe where he just will take less and less hits. He has t O. We won't have him to play. I've always handicapped to some degree back. Because the fact that he's so effective in the running game on his ability to take it down and get the big play and get the yards I've always known. That he couldn't do that like that, For long in the NFL. You can't do that. So this is the first time really in his career were Dak Prescott before he got hurt based offense align problems because usually the Cowboys have a pretty damn good offensive line. I know they missed Travis Frederick that one year because of the Because of what happened to the medical situation. But for the most part he's had At least a good offensive line in front of them. Some years. Great offensive lines..

Dallas Cowboys make handful of roster moves, activate Brown from IR

"Tyron Smith is now gone for the year it was announced on Friday two days ago Mike. McCarthy confirmed the report from NFL networks. Mike Fellow and Jane Slater Day before Mike McCarthy confirmed the tarrant Smith will undergo season ending surgery next week the cowboys are hopeful that he'll be back in two thousand and twenty one the Dallas cowboys already down there other offensive tackle in Lyle Collins Who Unlike Tyran Smith did not play a down this season. Also, it's worth mentioning that Travis Frederick. Retired shortly after Mike McCarthy took over as head coach his replacement if you want to call them that in Joe Looney. A sprained MC l. he is scheduled or slated I should say to miss the next two to three weeks just depends how that's going to go tyler beyond the cowboys fourth round rookie out of Wisconsin. Same place they got Travis. Frederick. Of course, seemingly is a much more stable option than anybody that's going to replace tarrant Smith or Lyle Collins but I bring all of this up to say that when my McCarthy. Signed his contract to be the head coach of the Dallas cowboys he did. So with likely knowledge that at the very least tired smitten, Lyle Collins would be playing for his football team and quite possibly unless you knew at the time that Travis Frederick was going to retire the Travis. Frederick. would be playing as well. So he's now down sixty percent of the offensive line he thought that he. Would have their many defensive players that are out Joe McCoy. One of the teams biggest off season signings is gone because he got hurt on the first day of practice and so this this team and where they are a month into the season is very different than the one Mike McCarthy sat down implant. That's all I'm saying it is definitely true that you have to adjust in the NFL. That's life things happen injuries happen with stuff happens that sports that's life like I said and so Mike McCarthy ultimately has to be held responsible for that because he's the head coach that's the hat that he wears, but it is worth saying and that's why I said now let's talk about some of these injuries and some of the roster moves the Dallas cowboys made ahead of this game on. Saturday day before this that you and I are talking day before game. Day the. Dallas. Cowboys made a handful of roster adjustments. It had been rumored all week long that Anthony. Browne would be returning from injured reserve and remember that injured reserve operates differently due to cove nineteen protocols and now nfl players only have to be on injured reserve for three weeks before they are eligible to return Anthony Brown. Is Eligible to return. It was speculated all week long that he would rejoin the cowboys they are in massive need of help in their secondary. So they officially Anthony Brown bag he is the first player that the Dallas cowboys have brought back off of injured reserve so far this season other candidates for this potential obviously include Sean Lee late and vanish. We'll see about cam irving things like that. But Anthony Brown I one. So the cowboys activated Anthony Brown. He is now part of the fifty three man roster, of course. So is Francis Bernard a fan favourite linebacker, undrafted free agent linebacker out of Utah many people, Francis, Bernard in the training camp portion of the year. Obviously no preseason he is. Now on the fifty three man roster, the cowboys have needed massive help in the linebacker. Department So far this season

"But it's going to be a one score game and you're GonNa Kinda wonder how that happened. So the the cardinals winning straight up is a little bit gutsy in ballsy and you know maybe I wouldn't I wouldn't put too much on the money line there but I definitely I feel comfortable with cardinals plus seven and a half. I think they're a team they were like they're like post hype now because everyone hyped him up and loved them back in the spring after the draft talking about cliff and cuyler and their second year together and how great they are going to be and then. When push came to shove in everyone actually had to make their picks They were not as high on the said they were, which was interesting. So the the I'm buying the post hype hype of the cardinals and I will take them plus seven and a half I've been saying that the cardinals were in the NFC north that pick them to win the division but that West is completely stacked, and by the way plus two fifty is the money line bet for the cardinals right now. I mean, look. I believe in the coach I I I would default to Kyle, Shanahan. Figuring things out they went through stretch last year were they were missing towards kittle they're missing a couple of receivers and they always found a way. This might. I I do like the over on the forty eight I don't know if I'll best bet it will. We'll get to that at the end of the show but Yom? I think forty niners will find a way to move the ball in the cardinals. Cardinals will just throw the ball a ton and then sort of just naturally roll up some yards and points that way and They'll they'll stick around think. Gosh I know what I like for side on this one What would I swayed you I? I get. It's one of those games for a pink so much. I got a look up what I I actually did pick the cardinals for side but obviously, not not a strong lean here. All right. Let's go with the Sunday night football cowboys at Rams. Rams. Getting three points. Total was fifty two. I'll start this one off and look I said how you know college Shanahan I I'd like betting on him I trust in something out. Coaching. So much of it is is problem solving and I think Sean McVeigh is the best in the game. When it comes to that he is seven two against the spread when he has at least two plus weeks to prepare for a game and one of those was snow moves into Bill Belichick and the Super Bowl. So he does well with the extra preparation. This is an offense that got right late in the season in two, thousand nineteen and I think everyone just kinda missed it. They missed the playoffs and everyone said Oh man disappointing year for the rams. They average nearly thirty points a game over the last five the offense of lying got right. They sort of feared out upfront jared Goff was much better down the stretch. Their one actually was in. Dallas. So I I I'M NOT GONNA I'm not gonna nuts that this wine is what it is but I still think it's wrong. I think this game is A. Is a pig at best and I think the rams should be giving a point to the other thing is. People are just acting like the cowboys didn't lose two very good offensive line for this Travis Frederick is retired, and then on top of that, you got Lionel Collins is GonNa miss this game. It's going to be Cameron. Filling in for lyle?.

"Seats collagen thank you I did end up going in the secondary actually the more more I think about it I I think Ruiz would be intriguing because it's kind of a cowboys them all they like to take a lineman at a like slated for like the late first early second and hit on a lot of one on Travis Frederick they hit on tyrants that they had on Zach Morton I mean they've done a wonderful job of building an offense a lot and he was on a leash take notes but there's a need for them a corner there's always a need on the edge interesting spot the cowboys it's seventy very interesting but wasn distracted really begins after the two topics you know it's going to be bar all you know it's going to be chase young is there a team trading up well the dolphins well the Chargers or somebody else get in one of the spots to get a quarterback that field for the giants that is your best case scenario fun shell my thanks to my freedom across the way on the other side you guys outstanding is always what you calls we got a lorry draft preview show coming out mine Jana what Connor Rogers from bleacher report working on some other things jets widely covered giants what it covered all the quarterbacks stuff my Saturday hopefully will still be attacked by Friday one can only help you have to warm up coming up at five forty yard boomer in jail that coming up at six have a safe Wednesday New York City because everybody not sprint.

"Center backup interior lineman or Dallas Cowboys the backup Travis Frederick you had a rough year in two thousand eighteen when he was backing up Travis but I think this year he's going to be you know ready to go yet another year of growth but the real question I have for you is that they're not paying back in gold paint everybody else you know no matter what they do what's the chances that the cowboys go eight may with back in without a a hundred percent thank I think you're going maybe the way I that doesn't seem to be without boys do not earlier today I talked about how rex Ryan put Amari Cooper turned I do not agree with rex Ryan office I like to mark your project found that interesting I do respect rex Ryan's brain by the way you can knock rex Ryan for being flamboyant and charismatic and all that stuff he took the New York Jets mark Sanchez to the AFC championship in the deep in the AFC playoffs on numerous occasions while being in that AFC east which is not an easy place to play football obviously because there is a dynasty happening while he was there so I understand that a lot of people mock rex Ryan for numerous I mean there's a lot of things a rex Ryan is what out there he can knock him for once crossed my mind there that I don't have that much of a filter I was gonna keep moving forward but hit him saying that mark took prison terms very interesting to me because I respect rex Ryan's mindset I assume because the games I see mark Cooper does well you know they're on television what the market was making plays their offense or passing offense was so successful last year too soon the number one wide receiver B. drive importance Hey I'm a hundred million dollars is a lot of money I mean that that is a lot of money for anybody shout out to Amari forget that our million dollars on everybody get a million dollars but without that Prescott being paid you really have to wonder what the dynamic and that's what's going to be that solves the cure all yet sit Mexico for training camp last year come back and get paid dot seen all these people do all these things and get paid and now that's in a why am I not getting paid I think it's gonna be more of like a personality problem more so than the physical body well he's he's a strong surge drink I mean like now a justice who's their backup quarterback Helen Morton always our next year the cowboys are going to go to and fourteen one of them came in and they might go twelve and four I was with Mike McCarthy your answer okay Mike McCarthy we talked to TJ Lang and AJ hawk estate on Maxie hawk sports stock you played for Mike McCarthy and I talked about how emotional that guys like he is a ride the wave a motional guys from Pittsburgh this is what's going to happen and he's an Irish guy from Pittsburgh that's going to happen his night before speeches are most what he what he can to get along I'll be I'll be intrigued fun I think so I think so too I think they want to go that ships can do out there did how was do not of course right now now under contract they do not have a QB one can it just not there to be one I need a Lana if they got all the Smith what do you think the odds that they could go after Antonio brown would be all right the store thank you we're gonna call this the six chance wide pretty good Antonio brown says he owns with his son don't get very excited yeah because he's on his phone he's calling bodies like you here it is signed that guy at Travis and I was about Travis Travis and cities are young woman Mary super special state of the union show town hall feel Good Friday phone extravaganza that Travis we were debating on whether it was in merry holiday or a happy holiday I'm happy one with merry so we can hear that one time for the good job so moderate are ideal scenario is a lifelong bangles for him the Bengals pick up your mail and start with that frees up your number one pick take chase young from Ohio state then you sign with Antonio brown that puts Antonio brown on one side AJ green on the other side in Camden slinging the rock both of the rabbits VS fix the Cincinnati because you get a once in A. generation potential buyers choice on which one it was fun on defense on the ball he cam Newton quarterback Antonio brown AJ green on the outside or the bank was also the favorite Nancy north there and nobody knows the Browns will do big Ben's back but is he really is he's training for the first time in the history of an offseason that might not be good by the way in the Baltimore Ravens lost marshal Yanda did that guy just fix the Cincinnati Bengals he did them because that makes too much sense there's zero chance the bomb zero chance that the wild though that would be absolutely wild they bring why not by the way bagel I mean they have perfect for years might as well bring a B. and one of cabinet says not I'll play anywhere this is that things.

"No. It great for football. It is great that great players don't have to go to a third contract. Folks football is a very safe sport. If the collision window is from fourteen to fifteen years of age, and you retire after a second NFL contract at twenty nine. Football is less safe if the collision window is eight years old, which is stupid. No kid should be hitting at eight, and you have to sign a contract and then stumble the rest of your life. You go from thirty year window to about a fourteen year window. We also have better equipment than ever fewer I mean good, God. They don't hit in college football practice after September and the new CBA and the NFL. Nobody hits anymore at practice. Oh, another game! Yes, and no hitting it practice. Football when the collision window shrinks and it shrinking. Because, practices are lightening up. Equipment's getting safer and players like Travis. Frederick and Calvin Johnson and Doug Baldwin an Andrew Luck and Luke keithly and Rob Gronkowski you don't have to have a fourth contractor, sometimes, even a third contract. You know what I mean. This is not an unsafe sport football. I mean you could argue hockey hockey. Get All the concussions collisions. It's daunting travel. I know hockey. Guys who have told me the binge drinking is horrible because of the fighting missing teeth badge of honor in the NFL to game a week, no hitting in practice. In increasingly light workload. Better equipment, football's always been great at adapting baseball's a great sport. It's lousy at adapting takes forever to get anything done. Some of that's the strength of the players. In the NFL you got a weaker player union. So, generally, you don't go on strikes. It's a a fair deal for owners who don't feel like they listen. They're going to give you more revenue, and it makes a lot more revenue, but I've never sided with players in strikes I. Generally side for an even playing field, forty eight forty nine percent of the revenue split allow players more guaranteed money in good health insurance and get them out of the sport by twenty nine. Travis Frederick leaving now is great news for everybody except back. It's great news for football. I don't want Andrew Luck plan if he's in pain I don't want. Calvin Johnson plan if he's hurt. "The cowboys address dak Prescott with the franchise tag and they lock in Amari Cooper long term now they have to address their offensive line twenty nine year old center Travis Frederick retiring he made it back on the field last season for missing twenty eighteen while battling autoimmune disorder called beyond race syndrome Frederick wrote on Twitter yesterday that every day last season was a battle and that he can't play anymore the level he wants to and his teammates deserve on the other side of the ball for the cowboys they reportedly close to signing veteran D. tackle Dontari Poe Washington steals future hall of fame QB Kyle Allen from Carolina for just a fifth rounder than Washington got that fifth rounder back from Seattle for cornerback Quinton Dunbar and lastly from the NFC east the giants last week paid for Panthers corner James Bradberry New York was a better fit for me you know after a new Mr government I know what type organization is trying to get over there now the giants yesterday former Titans running back in New York running back Dion Lewis they also re signed receiver Corey Coleman who missed last season with a torn ACL us the same Corey Coleman that misbehaves his way out of Cleveland and couldn't stick with the patriots or the bills those pads have released kicker Stephen Gostkowski after fourteen seasons the franchise's all time leading scorer played just four games last season before left hip surgery cutting Gostkowski frees up just more than three male in cap space and we have some details this morning on Marcus Mariota's contract in Vegas I wrote Oakland because I'd switch my way my brain still gonna work for a while so just bear with me the A. I. two years and seventeen point six million dollars at face value for the former Titans QB include several half mil guaranteed for twenty twenty but the real story is the large number of incentives in this deal obviously in case Mario to somehow ends up starting he could make north of thirty seven mail all told if you please and then plays well so that's I don't know seven million dollars over two seasons of the ends of starting correct I I like Derek Carr acknowledging the shortcomings I don't and I like more yield and I think he needs a change of scenery but I still think that their cars the better QB head to head in this in this equation well I don't love Marcus Mariota's football I love him as a coachable team mate he has never complained he has never thrown a teammate under the bus there's never a bad word to say about Marcus Mariota the guys in the locker room love him but as a guy he's better than he is as a that is as a quarterback and so I don't know if I could ever trust merry go to becoming a really good quarterback in the NFL despite how high he was drafted but I will say this is a pretty good at litmus test on it the fact that Gruden it and may Oct and the front office of the raiders are not completely sold on Derek Carr and I don't I would be either I'm with you the car has holes in his game I think car at times can look like a franchise quarterback at times can not and you don't sign a guy of Mariota's credibility as a starting quarterback releases experience and not do it to push Derek Carr and have a solution because you could bring in just a backup quarterback but if you bring in merry old and you give all those incentives clearly the idea is we want you to compete for this job and that tells me all I need to know about how they feel about their car yeah absolutely ET is one of the best in names Everton normally we are making fun of it but today he actually bring some common sense to the table it is long time IOC member Dick pound he told USA today yesterday Tokyo game still scheduled for late July will be postponed the next four weeks will be used to iron out the details including a new date for the games the IOC issued a statement response last night it didn't really refute this idea from Dick pound the USOC Canada Australia Germany Portugal Norway have all said in recent days that the games cannot be played here in twenty twenty now this is also a story that you miss DA while you were in Florida made Sean very angry that the Olympic torch was lit last week yeah hi res to begin the trip to Tokyo because obviously we can't do anything outside in large groups so why even bother with the torch we would all be okay without it they are at least making changes to the system now that the torch the flame is in Japan the trip was to begin on Thursday but the torch will now be a lantern so it'll be inside something which could be inside a car that will be driven on the normal route there will be very limited ceremonies and organizers hope nobody standing on the road side to actually watch the lantern drive past them on its way to Tokyo nice games that are not going to happen in July anyway so this is all from ms all big wasted minds no matter how you slice it so there's a motorcade that is leaving Greece try to get to Japan or somewhere out that way the flame is or I don't know how the flames got to Japan but is now in the country and it will begin its removed from the Fukushima province all the way to Tokyo and I don't even know if motorcade qualifies because motorcade implies multiple vehicles I'm not sure how many vehicles will be needed to shuttle this bad boy through the country okay so basically it's like having a baby on board sticker and it's like Olympic torch on board and that's it and it drives across the globe and now they've got another fifteen months or so to keep driving it because we won't have the Olympics until next summer all right thank you Andrew when we come back here on the show morass as all those delicious Kyle Allen stacks and we discussed and break down the new rams logo that was unveiled yesterday a lot of people taking a lot a lot of swings at it D. "The cowboys but you know if not that there are a lot of high end centers in free agency that were available we can go and I wonder if the cowboys even knew about this I'd like to think that Travis Frederick gave them an inkling that he was going to come back before a week's worth of shopping was done for interior offensive linemen to Travis Frederick announces yesterday out of the blue that he is retiring remember he had an illness that knocked him out for all of the twenty eighteen season he came back and played in twenty nineteen but he made it clear that every day it was a struggle I could no longer perform at my highest level playing well is not what I expected myself and is not what my teammates deserve because of this I know my days as a football player are done I'm proud of what I've accomplished in my career and I walk away with my head held high remember when he was drafted twenty thirteen bottom of the round like cowboys fans were Saudi because everybody wants that sexy pick that guy that's gonna be a fantasy football phenomenon a guy who's Jersey wanna buy who want to buy centers Jersey I just remember there was there was just some general consternation as the cowboys were quietly and methodically building that offense of line and they kept building and building and building and I got better and better and better and now they're gonna have to replace Travis Frederick who isn't even thirty

"I think we're all in the in agreement that if you don't win the NFC east you're not getting in as a wild card agree okay but it's free off to another slow start yeah there was a bad call on Travis Frederick the tripping I don't know what I feel is good what that was but Stephon Gilmore of New England caught more passes then Amari Cooper understandably is the best corner in the game so you know you can't blame it on Amari I don't know if it's Garrett well he certainly the head coach or fix Kellen Moore who by the way will move with me moving in a middle school next year looks like it's a big get off the flow starts it looked like the complete again we're having success running the ball and I was so upset by the fourth quarter I don't remember but I think they went away from the run game again didn't think they did for the most part yes what is going on on a rainy day were Jack is having a hard time gripping the foot I know you feel I'm changes glove to try to figure out how we can throw better and I agree with you the run with Ezekiel Elliott was working it's raining it's windy it's forty degrees you've got you've paid Ezekiel Elliott a gazillion dollars you got a great offense of line run the football I must have said that fifteen times yesterday and at least ten times yesterday sit around with the family I said they are who I thought they were you know when Dennis green on because they they are we getting the pre games and this wasn't just yesterday but it did happen a lot yesterday I don't care if you were on ESPN Fox or CBS Dallas this down is that they're going to win the day down as their number one offense in the league will if you took away the third and fourth quarters for the cowboys are playing from behind I wouldn't think they've been there the number one offense in the league now because the first and second quarters are just there's still hope yeah buffalo Thursday so in addition to that you got your owner coming out say in banks and then you've got a short week before you have to play buffalo and I think Dallas down the stretch as buffalo the bears the bears the rams the eagles in the red scare and I will be surprised if at best they go three into they haven't beaten a winning team yet they haven't beaten a team with a winning record yet all six wins are against teams with losing records yeah and your loss to the jets yeah okay do you think that conversation was fun wait until six forty when I get to ask you what's wrong with the San Antonio Spurs your first flashback is after headlines traffic.

"Know dax zeke in amari is the talk in dallas but why is no one paying attention to drive fred travis frederick edrich coming back in my opinion top-three center in the league is coming back to a great online and having heard a word about it. I'm gonna put this about as simply simply as i can. No one cares about offense lineman really until they're gone you know in this league the talking point quarterbacks and skill guys coaches. We don't talk about guards and centers. You know it's kind of hill kind of bores me and i talk about football living. Now i hear you. He's a stud if he's plan. They're in good shape if they can get their starting alignment on the field and z. comes back in dax. They're in a marriage. They're they're good defense really good. I i've kind of i mean i might lean picking the cowboys to the super bowl. I'm becoming a little less confident with zeke. He's come back from kabo of jerry's gonna trade him and what the hell's going to happen. Amari is kind of banged up with a bad he'll but i don't know so i. I just think it's simple. Did the people get the casual fan in most people that probably listen to this aren't like breathing twenty four seven football stuff and no every offensive line but fantasy fantasy football. You know the quarterback's you know the skill guys running backs. We just don't care about centers. You know even the best ones. I got rodney hudson my backyard rodney hudson. It's been a top. You know probably ten offensive lineman in the n._f._l. For five six straight years i bet most n._f._l. Fans can point them out in the lineup. Okay okay you think he's embarrassed this on well a._b._c. You think he's embarrassed about his dumb ass with the cryotherapy and his feet are worse than everyone thinks h._b._o. Boost for hard knocks and all the drama rama or just a diva and he's trying to prove a point to the n._f._l. "You know he's really really explosive. He would have been a much bigger name ed. He backed up derail henderson at memphis. You've got a hundred and four passes in three seasons seasons in college. He returned seven kickoffs to the house. You know he's he's. He's the real damn deal <hes>. They think he's very similar. From a comparison standpoint alvin kamara they have openly compared him to alvin kamara and they even even if he comes back induced <unk> is gonna come back and this is. This is a super bowl window for the cowboys. The cowboys are in a really really good spot entering this season. I think they're a a top ten roster and i think that you know they like their defense is is really strong if they can get and keep all those dudes healthy <hes> <hes> their offensive line is back together with travis frederick you know i think they're going to get zeke encamp error on the team <hes> head of week one but they need to find ways to get the ball into tape into steve austin into tony pollard's hands and you know now. "Now more of the sports attack with Bob Black here on sports overnight America all right. We're back with the attack. Wrapping ended up the week hope. You've been enjoying it <hes> I I. If you're looking for drama. You need go no further than the Dallas cowboys and yeah. I know it's a year in thing with them but in this particular year they're trying to sign their key players to extensions engines and get them all locked up. They're willing to pay all their key guys which is a good thing from that aspect of it. There's no drama but they're waiting on Ezekiel Elliott to be and he's going to be one of the last guys who is extended and they're going to try to find the right I price for him arguably the best running back in football while he was not on the plane to Los Angeles and for people who don't realize the Dallas cowboys don't train in Dallas they go to Oxnard California. They've been doing it since Jerry Jones own the team and and he was not on the plane to L._A.. He doesn't get find until sometime later today if he's not there and we'll see how it plays out. The team doesn't seem or at least the players on the team. Don't seem to think it's going to be a distraction. Jalen Smith said that he spoke to Elliott he did not discuss whether or not the running back would arrive by the deadline reporting time Travis Frederick agreed and said look. It's not going to be a distraction one way or the other. It's a business. Everybody has to treat it as such. You know there's very little leverage with players. They can hold out but they never get back the money that they lose and it's over forty grand per day when they're holding out so you know you look at it. Try to do the right thing. Try to get paid. It's a short term career in the national football league much more so than in any other sport so I can't play for trying to get his money but the off the field stuff is something that the Dallas Cowboys are going to negotiate associates into the contract because it hasn't been good for Zeke Elliot all right. That's the attack enjoy your weekend. Everybody plays a we'll talk again in about seventy.

"Jerry, Stephen in the Dallas front office there. They've made up their mind. The Dak is going to be the quarterback of the future. It becomes very important. Nick what he thinks about his future. What's more important that he wants to try to get in the Kurt cousins type range as far as money or does. He settle for something a little bit less. So that they can put other pieces around them believe that the second is the better of the options because of the inconsistency. And if he's going to reach us, but tinsel they're going to need that cap space Bill to put some other players around. So my suggestion for the Cowboys is you need to be able to enhance your stars and Bill to protect your stars. Number one. Being Dak Prescott starts with Travis Frederick, and that often of line to the left tackle, we need to have some heart to heart conversation is he elite player because of if he's not an elite player anymore. What typically happens is need to see some of that money that he's making. 'cause I'm playing him to paint him to be an elite player. He's. Not elite anymore. So I look for them to ask him to take a pay cut Zeke is going to get an extension. They need to continue to tight end position and add more speed to the offense. If you're able to do that with the tide in and more speed you help back continue to Philip as a quarterback, and you help Zeke Elliott limp in his career because you take some of that burden off of him on the offense of side defensively. You know, Lawrence is a star. You franchise him. He's earned the long term contract. But what you need to do. The other stars on defense are their inside linebackers. They need a couple big defensive tackles. They'll need to spend a lot of money on it. But they need big. So that these linebackers can run and be utilized in space for me. That's the that's the remedy to the Cowboys of how they go forward. You have to protect your stars. You have to expect them to continue to get bit better. But how do you do that you put people in front of linebackers you put those defensive tackles? Dak you help him out with other speed. Guys on the outside and Zeke, you'll Elliott you remove some of that burden that him carrying a ball four hundred times. Like is that necessary going forward a month ago when the Cowboys looked position to turn their season around going into that eagles game, which was if they want it? They were going to lock up the division for all intents and purposes, I said the Cowboys might look back through hindsight if they win this game and wish they had. And the reason I said it was I thought if they won that game and won the division. It was guaranteed. Dak was getting an extension this offseason. Now to Dax credit. They won that game. They won the next couple games. They are they want to of the next three. I should say they wanna playoff game Dak played. I thought a very good Dak Prescott game in that game. And he's not the reason they lost the Rams. He's getting the extension. You guys know my philosophy on if you pay a quarterback franchise money, and he is not a force multiplier the enormous deficit put your team into this is where no matter whether it's twenty. Million or twenty eight million the money he gets this off season whatever he can do to get himself to the next level as a player. He does not have to be one of the five best quarterbacks in football. But he has to be in the argument as one of the six best quarterbacks in his conference. And so that's where he's we know breezes there, we know Rogers, they're winces in his division, but with health questions, and so he needs to come up at least one tick. If he does that then we know what the Cowboys blueprint is. And I agree with Chris wholeheartedly this off season even with limited draft capital tight end and interior defensive line or the two spots that I think allow my other strengths to become even bigger strike. We have this conversation all the time. If he gets a little bit better if he's just a little more accurate if you may be used as this is a little bit..

"Just free agency. Attrition guys retiring and getting drafted it takes you usually the first quarter of the season because in the offseason, you're not hitting twice a day in training camp. You can't be on the field as often together. And this is one of those positions that requires so many live reps together before you could really feel comfortable with the level of communication the way you give and receive help on the offensive line. It takes about that quarter pole. And then you double that when an offensive line like Dallas is one of their leaders and Travis Frederick, and I think what you saw them when I don't think gets enough credit this around the same time Amari Cooper came over. I really thought this offense of line started to gel again. I thought they started playing great ball that, you know, certainly proven by the fact that Zeke Kelly again, the rushing tamp this season in the NFL would just over fourteen hundred yards. I I think that group started to control games. Again, it's not gonna look the same way did a few years ago. Tyron so banged up across the board. We know Zack's men dealing with the knee, and certainly left guard has been somewhat of an area of concern. But I think that group's going to be the key to this game. Because on the other side, you're right. Listen, mike. Celerion, Brian shot hybrid deserve a ton of credit for the way, they've called plays changing some things that are certainly emblematic of what Schottenheimer wants to do. But still allowing line that for a long time under Tom cable. It's running cut. That's all he wants to do is run the guide laterally. So what do they do? They still incorporate that with a lot of the same things they build a lot of their play action off of that for Russell Wilson the last and make a ton of place, but they did add some pieces as well. And I think in his last game. I you know, everyone's gonna look at the score and Arizona and kind of feel some type away about it. You had a lot of fluctuation on the right side of that lines or Mehta fed. Who's normally the right tackle head to kick in you, remove a bunch of the communication pieces when they're healthy when DJ fluker in there who is as as quality and acquisition for any often the blind as there was this off season. This group can be. Really dynamic up front, and they can move guys around. I just think they're a bit out class. When you're looking across the field this time. Awesome stuff as always just as we expected from you getting getting him with the thick owes. So thank you, Joe per shade. It. Thank you support. The cause guys. Going coming goes. Mike Golic junior on the show penzo performance line. And we really went. Tragedy there. It is being and Fitz. That's right. Get dirty in there. You know, what never.

"Last year, we talked about this is one of the best offense of line and football was really the foundation for what that team did. Whether it was Carson Wentz ordinate foles in the backfield. And this year's are alone. Pro bowlers at guard. You know, I it's kinda shifted around there. So that interior battle between them and akiem Hicks on the other side that you know, all too. Well, Sara is just an absolute mutant on the defensive side of the ball, excluding even Khalil Mack. But I think on the other side for the bears because yet downfield passing with Mitchell hasn't always been before Taylor this offense. But on the other side that eagles de line has been balling them. And get a lot of pressure. You've seen a lot of Fletcher Cox, and Chris long, and the one thing that I always liked is an offensive lineman that help mitigate that is something that I think they do pretty well in the bears offense, which is the short area screen game with really either of them running back to read Cohen. Sure. Oh, exactly could be a huge. Game for him. And when you get it over the top of those alignment, again, you're just trying to make those guys think because if they're allowed to pin back and attack you're going to be in trouble. No matter who you are the bears again schematic advantage for them though. I think as an offense of line this year they've allowed the fewest amount of pressures in the NFL as much as I love Harry. He stand their offensive line coach was with me at Notre Dame. This is also partly because the offense that Matt Nagy is designed gets the ball out. Quick uses a lot of those run pass option and doesn't put them in. Specifically doesn't put their quarterback in position that often where he's going to be on duress might the last game. Obviously in the NFC is the Cowboys in the Seahawks and two teams made offense of line coaching changes this year. The difference was the Dow came at midseason with Marc Columbus stepping in. It feels like despite the fact that there are talented individual pieces on both offensive lines. The story of them is actually over achieving this year. Like, I think Seattle's gotten a ton out of what they have and same goes for Dallas. Where that the the loss of Travis Frederick before the season even got going. Yeah. And you saw that was a huge blow. And one of the trends you've seen posted in this. Recent CBA has been often lines in general going in each year. Whether it's.

"If you wanna go check it out there for yourself Blake. Jarman was used in the middle of the field. The Cowboys the Dallas Cowboys in two thousand eighteen two thousand nineteen whatever you wanna call it. They used tight in in the middle of the seal, and it sounds so simple in it sounds so not meaningful in it sounds so boring. It sounds so alive when they do this all along the Cowboys don't do that. That's not how the Cowboys role they used their tided specifically anywhere but the middle field, actually, it's like they're allergic to it and blood jar wouldn't lived in the middle of the field. And it's worth looking at that production that not only he had a Dak Prescott had and the Cowboys offense as a whole they scored thirty six points. It's very difficult thing. These days to ask for the Cowboys to score over thirty points. Now, this was a weird game and had some weird energy excetera. But still the fact that the Cowboys are doing this now is really positive sign moving into the playoffs. Moving into meaningful football moving into times that matter. Mondo garcia. Joining us to be faced for blocking says, it's a freezing forty nine degrees in Brownsville baby Phillies on your show happy new year to you. I am from Brownsville Texas originally, and I can for the fact that when it gets down to forty nine degrees in Brownsville, Texas, people freak out like people. You know, if you live in the north you watch alive somewhere up north when it's forty nine degrees in Brownsville. They start leaving the water drip overnight because they're afraid the pipes are gonna freeze. That's that's how Brownsville roles that's the nine five six operates. It doesn't get that cold too often in the nine five six bucks. The middle field is important in the clutch. Seventy five on periscope says using the middle of the field is going to make a huge difference in. It's true. I mean you look at what Blake jar wounded. And that's because this game didn't really feature the Cowboys flexing the total of their offense of muscle. It was nosy. There was no tyrants, mid knows. That Marin no Travis Frederick if you wanna go there, obviously that's a little bit of a different situation. But the point remains that the Cowboys utilizing the middle of the field specifically with their tight ends is a weapon. I don't know why. I don't think any of us know, why the Cowboys have refused to do this up until week seventeen in New York. But hey, the fact that they have finally gotten hip to this is a very important thing. "He's going zero points to colts in gene victim gave the big samples that was given the Shannon sixteen gave you the pro football hall of fame is sixteen games. A lot of athletes getting a lot of games. So that's a large sample size. That's when you come and ten of his sixteen games that press got through one for Vero touchdowns. I don't know how you get outside the middle of the pack with that he also holds onto the ball. Thicket. Most that quarterback all the football. Shawn watson. So I'm gonna give Muto because I thought at the at the half the halfway point skip he was below average. At least they got him in that middle tier he'd so average. So with that being said. Yeah. You know, eighteen scenes about good good. I'm glad you agreed. Because I also agree with pro football focus, his season should rank eighteenth. We can say either best or worse. Maybe you eighteenth worse. This year that's play to play to play for sixteen games. Because you'll first eight games were not good for Dak Prescott. Why did that happen? The first eight games. He had nobody who could consistently separate at the wide receiver position. He had nobody you could even name at tight end. Right. Because you didn't even know who these people were. And I kept saying well there is that guy from Baylor the basketball player remember that guy. I don't know what happened to Rico, but he couldn't play football. And he's out. He's on the team still. But he's out. He has had no impact. Blake jar started come alive here. The last couple of games the other guy. Yeah. Jeff Schwenzer swing got injured. He got hurt. And he's still heard broke his wrist. So he's had nobody to throw to. He had von Osten. You said he's just a gadget to just a gadget guy and he had him for a little while. And then he got hurt against Jacksonville at Gerry world. And that was the end of him, and he has just come back now. So he didn't even have that and going into the season. He lost his leader of the offensive line. His Pro Bowl center. Travis Frederick right gone, and he's been gone for the whole year. And it got a knock on wood for him because that's a rough one and our March layer's gone through this. And he said boy, I think it's going to take a while. And it looks like it's going to take a long while. Okay. So you're down there. So your degree of difficulty is gone through the roof because you have nobody to consistently throw to and you've got new receivers Deontay Thompson who's no longer on the team and Alan Hearns who had a moment here in a moment there. But the kid Michael Gallup he was still just rookie. Now he's coming along. So for the first eight games, and again, they all counted..
