"And like, I don't think Lawrence speak bad this year says a lot about whether he could be a really good quarterback going forward, but I do think it raises questions about whether he's the absolutely indispensable, you know, prospect worth completely raising every good player to your team for. You know, like it does seem in modern football, like a genuine superstar should probably show a little more than this. I mean, it has been his first year. There's been enough just looking at Justin Herbert or Joe burrow, clearly a rookie quarterback in this league can now step into a situation and be pretty good. If inconsistent, you know, as both of them can be still, but still pretty good. And Lawrence has been pretty terrible. Obviously, the choice of urban Meyer as head coach has been, you know, he makes and ship Kelly look like brilliant moves from the college game. He's like petrino bad. Well, I'm more than forward to eating at the urban ShopHouse in Bellevue. I have to say once organ signs a 5 year contract to coach the huskies starting next year. Should be exciting. And then of course, vibes will be eliminated to pay the salary. So it should be good. Of course. Also. Urban does not seem like a civic northwest guy to me. And nor does you don't seem like the kind of school that would pay his salary, but I don't know. What kind of guy what kind of region does urban Meyers seem like that type of guy? He seems like a genuinely horrible person. I mean, we talk about Indiana earlier. So not good point. Yeah? Well maybe you could build on some of that success in Kansas, you know? Yeah. Look, like, you know, I mean, it takes a lot to be to Steve sarkesian team. So urban race. But for that. Sork is the scary UW dub candidate possibly. That's the nightmare. Yes. But I mean, you know, right now admittedly, the football reporting tends to be very driven by the contemporary narrative, right? And the Jaguars have been bad. But those Clemson, right? Although they are 7 and three, I think now, but it's a shitty 7 to three, right? The ACC is bad. They've lost any decent team. They played and they have a look good in the games that they won. And, you know, there has been a lot of talk that dabo you know for all of his personal touch with Jesus Christ has not really gotten good offensive schemes from Jesus. And that. Is the program is stale, the offense of stale and without Lawrence and, you know, the great Travis Etienne, and the offensive line that was so good that the team just really, very good. And so there's been at least some speculation that Lawrence actually was brought into the NFL, despite his talent with a pretty poor preparation because the scheme had become so vanilla and then he enters into a bad team with a horrible coach and it's just a kind of worst case scenario at least unless you play the jets. That's right. And again, I'm not, I'm not down on Lawrence's law. I think it'll be fine..

"To have to play with his hair on fire at times because of the offensive line. It's going to put him in position to have a lot of scrambles this year. Not just the design runs. But the scrambles and that rushing line nine seventy seven one over seventy snaps as you mentioned. That's almost a full. That's roughly a full games worth of snaps. And i think that that provides a little snapshot into what we can sort of expect from him on a near weekly basis he at ohio state justin fields average nearly forty rushing yards per start. He's a guy who runs sub four five and that's obviously going to be a huge part of his game. Yeah i will say. I think you could say hey. Trillions is better because the team the environment. The coaching is just so much better than it is in chicago. And i buy that to some degree but man fields can mitigate that with a lot of rushing especially if you think that the lance rushing stuff in the preseason real will see on that carson wentz man i mean dude has foot surgery or whatever happened to his foot already back on back practice do the first hour of practice in seven on seven was all carson wentz on monday no soreness or whatever it goes back he's pricing again tuesday at this point i'd be shocked if carson wentz didn't start week one you have michael pittman up at one hundred and third overall wide receiver forty eight. I believe bump. Jonathan taylor backup slightly from where he was. What are you thinking about the colts. Now that it seems like carson wentz is going to be back for week one. Yeah i mean. I still think that a lot of questions remain carson. Wentz was one of the worst quarterbacks in football last season Even though it looks like now he has a decent chance to start week one. What his is health situation going to be. I mean carson. Wentz is a good athlete when he's at one hundred percent and his legs were a big part of his game is any of that going to be compromised as he comes back from the injury is he gonna trust the foot. You know an enough. Pull off scrambles and you know is is. He gonna is gonna have setbacks early in the season. I mean i still think a lot of questions remain. He's not a quarterback that i'm targeting really even to quarterback leagues But i do think that him being out. There is good news for michael pittman. Michael pittman is not necessarily a big time separation receiver and carson wentz one consistent theme throughout his career has been a willing to willingness to pull the trigger on tight window throws and i think their their styles. Their games could mesh as long as carson. Winston can stay in their babel narrative as well on my compliment. I like michael pitman. I like him at. Adp a little bit more than jonathan. Certainly no problem with jonathan. Tell you have him fifteenth overall. I think a lot of people have at least a chance to get him there. Let's go to earth smith's satire kankkonen's missed both preseason games but i was still encouraged. That smith played fifteen of fifteen snaps with kirk cousins. I don't know that there's a lot to take away here other than irv. Smith remains extremely young covered off. Gone all this. Talk about tyler. Conklin i have not bought bought it really. I think it's good chance to buy dip on earth. Smith and smith to me is a major break a candidate and there's not a lot to go around from a volume perspective but man he can score plenty of touchdowns. Especially if you think. Adam feelings touchdown rate regressive side like smith. I don't think there's a lot to say here. But i do like. They just wanted to point out. Fifteen or fifteen first team snaps with kirk cousins. Any thoughts on him. Evan irv smith. I drafted i in the first half a pc main event draft. That i did this year. And i've drafted him in another up in in a number of other spots at dickey's at this point in my highest drafted tight end. And it'd be look back at those comments. That mike zimmer made just before training camp where he was like now earth. Smith's role isn't going to change. Tyler conklin is gonna fill the cow rudolph role in the first of all. Mike zimmer defensive guy and he's not necessarily dictating ofensive usage and i think the earth smith is talented enough to buck. what What mike zimmer expectations were for him and to earn that role. I i really like him as a pick. He's going right around. I think like titan twelve. Yeah so and i think he's a value pick there yet and if something were to happen with justin jefferson or adam zealand like the floodgates can open verve smith. Yeah you have him t- ten ahead of fant ahead of just sukey ahead of goddard who will get to in a second speaking of preseason usage. Nashi harris man. I mean we expected this but still good to see and it's eye-opening in today's nfl. To see stamps with the starters. This preseason najji harris forty five anthony macfarlane six everyone else zero. I mean this is setting up for nausea harris levian bell type usage. And we know. My time likes to do this even with guys. That aren't that good. I mean he tried to do this with dangelo. Williams rashard mendenhall guys. Remember him had the role for a little bit. James connor had the role for a little bit too. It's just they are the one of the few teams that like to use one running back you have moved nausea up to your rb ten in the latest rankings ahead of mixing ahead of antonio gibson ahead of nick chubb talked to the people about nausea and the big concern for most people is offensive line. But as we've discussed that's an overrated a negative factor as it pertains to ninety harassed because you wanna bet on guys that have a chance at three hundred fifty touches and right now. I don't know if you could name six or seven backs with a better chance.

"Best ball streets. Their puppy tournament is just five dollars to get in. If you sign up for our draft kit and you've never had underdog account before you get thirty five dollars credit easy game. Eat if you already have an underdog count. They'll just give you ten dollars because you have the etr draft kit. Let's get into it here and we have bad news to start real bad news. Actually feel bad for the kid. Obviously feel bad for anybody. Who's drafted him travers at. Ti is going to miss the entire season after injuring his foot against the saints on monday night. Football sad times. And it's sad. Because i think even had some sharp plays on jaguars to win. They have sea south. I think that hurts that. I think it hurts. Trevor lawrence helps james robinson who i personally had a pretty big fade on evan immediate reactions to travis at tea and missing the entire season. It sucks heat injuries. But you know the the beat must go. On and john james robinson was actually in the overvalued section. And he's gonna. i'm at the pull him out because he's gonna rocket up the rankings. I mean he's probably gonna end up somewhere around or be twenty overall. If not a little bit higher he does have three down skill set as he showed an undrafted rookie. Last year. carlos. Hyde is almost certainly going to be involved. But he's never been a particularly adept pass catcher in. I think that at the end of the day james robinson is now staring back at a role where he could see sixteen twenty touches a game. Yeah and by the way. It's twelve fifteen on tuesday. This news just broke from adam. Schefter mentioned about five minutes ago. We have not had a chance to fully digest this yet. I will say that. I think james robinson was a feed for me because lack of asking rome and it was so clear. Chavez was gonna take a lot of the past work and siphon off a decent amount of early down work. Now you can project james robinson who was running with the first team on a majority early down snaps anyways as every back. Go back and listen to brandon talk about this jaguars offensive line. Jaguars offensive line could be very good. So man robinson is going to scream up the boards are rankings. We'll be updating for that by the time this comes out any other effects on the jaguars you think past games. Chenault i mean there are some risks. Chenault was going to overlap. Which is out the window now and i still like. This is my favorite of the jaguars wider savers. Any thoughts there. Liska chenault is going to see some upward movement On on mytalk one fifty as a player that they had sort of designated a roll like a gadget role and a manufacturer touch role that urban meyer initially wanted cadavers. Tony to fill but he went in front of the jags they went with. Travis t. n. Tragedy chan's out for the year. I think if you look at throughout the rest of their depth chart throughout the rest of their skill positions la- viscous chenault makes the most sense to fill that role in addition to he was already locked into to the slot receiver duties so yeah i think that he's gonna move up At least a few spots in the top fifty all right be sure you're checking out the rankings. Again these will be updated by the time. This podcast comes out. I want to move on to the rushing rookie quarterbacks who have been a huge part of our draft process this year trae lance and justin fields. I'm i don't wanna say worried. But i thought it was notable that on sixty three preseason snaps treat lance's only rushed one time one time for eight yards. Meanwhile justin fields in about seventy snaps nine kerry seventy nine yards and one touchdown. I'm curious what you think. Do you think this is a preseason thing with trae lance running. Do you think this is the coach's telling him hey don't go out there and get killed. It's the preseason work on your progressions or lance maybe more of a pocket passer than we envisioned and to me. I still like trae but that we cap his ceiling. Plenty what do you think about trailing. It's not rushing hardly at all in the preseason. I really don't make anything. I don't have any strong takeaways from it from a negative standpoint that they're not gonna use them as a runner. I think that actually go back. And listen to the schefter pod and he talked about how he was really trailing his Football i q. Football i intelligence. That really put him over the edge when they were making that that third overall pick but it also. I am sure how to do. Well in schefter mentioned this that there were just things trae lance could do on the field that match jones could not in one of them is be a dynamic dual threat and he absolutely was at north dakota state in his second year there his only full year as a starter. He ran for eleven hundred yards and fourteen touchdowns any averaged over the course of his college career. Seven yards per carry so. I absolutely think that's going to be a big part of their offense. Just like it was with kyle shanahan in washington with rg three yep and trillions played a reasonably good game in the preseason games still expect him to have at least a fifty fifty shot if not better to start week one. Meanwhile though man justin fields. I mean it would be humiliating to start andy dalton over justin fields and yet you can say the offense disaster. That's true but just the fields has the legs to avoid it. Andy dalton is going to get killed back there. Just feel already. Nine kerry seventy nine yards and one touchdown in roughly seventy snaps are so low but more than one games worth so yeah with the offensive line situation. I mean i think justin fields and trae land actually really close right now. I know trillions goes a good round or two before lance. But i'm encouraged by what i've seen from justin fields in the preseason. How close do you think he is too trae lance right now. Yeah i think that the gap if there was a big one. I think it is absolutely narrowed. I think that you can put more trust into the forty niners offense as an entity. Then you can into the bears offense but from rushing standpoint. I mean there..

I'm not asked to be involved in this one. And that's good because I want my relationship with Jack to just the player coach. And if Jack's back and playing with the Buffalo Sabres, I'm as excited as anybody to happen, and probably more than that, But if that happens that happens to great day for For me, and I will do whatever I can. Get Jack playing his best like a focus on every time. You know, I just don't like drama. I hate drama. Um, and getting involved in that It's just nothing but a distraction. Hey, on day one a training camp. If whenever players we have there, That's what I'm working with. That's it. So in the interim, I'm not going to play the hypothetical this. That or the other. As I mentioned this morning, I threw some film on of guys that are coming in. Well, I'm watching guys are there's plenty of things to fill my day. That can be productive when I want to turn attack. So if I spend two hours a day working on high Right now. There's more than enough stuff to cover. It would be very productive. So I don't need to, uh Spend any time or energy into that others are handling it, and I'll just trust that process. Sabres.

"That environment as well. And tonight he was without Two starters on the offensive line, and he was going up against a ferocious defensive front on a football team that is going to challenge in the NFC the beat of representative in the Super Bowl, So you have to keep that in context. I think, as long as he is getting the beginning the calls out in the huddle, making sure that he's making the right checks protecting himself generally as far as making protection calls and throwing the football With relative accuracy. You have to take that as a win because this is a football team Greece that's a long way away from contending No, There's no question and I think they have an identity crisis. Right now. This is a an experiment of trying to meld two offenses that are completely different. The one that Darrell Bevell and the NFL traditional style and what urban Meyer is bringing from college. Spread, which is what Trevor Lawrence did in college. And so he's familiar with that, and they're trying to make it work together, And that's an experiment that's hard to do on the NFL level. So, uh, you have the the the the talent at Jacksonville. That's not as great as some of the other teams in the league. And then on top of that, you pile this identity crisis and It's going to be an interesting year, for sure for Trevor Lawrence Jaguars were dominated early in this one. Superdome really hasn't been kind to Trevor Lawrence. He's played three times there since his claims and days he's lost each time, including the preseason game. On Monday. There was also the 2019 national title game against L s U and a 2020 semi final loss against Ohio State. "How does you know if he you know. He gets the bulk of the targets. In you know he becomes a red zone. You know threat with the patriots. But we'll have to wait and see what that so then after that. I have the wide receiver for the colts. Michael pittman low on my mock draft. I put him very late. You know. I definitely think he could be the top target in this colts offense. You know the. Ty hilton is aging. You know he's not the ty hilton was you know four or five years ago. You know and michael pittman. He was okay last year. And i definitely think you know carson wentz is going to you know. Use him and have him as a target along with ty hilton When i think michael pittman he could be a guy that could be flex option. You know maybe even wide receiver to on your team you know. I definitely think he'd go a little bit sooner. But i don't know. I just feel like you know this. Is you know where. I put him and you know again. The mock draft is not perfect. I i don't think it is perfect by any means but you know this is where i put him i do think that carson wentz i it's going to he's going to help carson wentz out. He's definitely going to help them out. And yeah he's a guy that you know is looking to make a jump in year two so then after him. I have the wide receiver for the houston. Texans believe it or not brandin cooks now. I feel like brandin cooks. You know. I think he could do all right. I mean he's definitely probably the best fantasy option on houston right now. Outside of if to shawn watson does play you know and cooks had a nice year with houston last year you know and with or going down with the suspension you now that you know that that kind of opened the door for more targets for brandin cooks and he did have some big games was definitely a solid flex option for me last year when i picked him up in fantasy You know and and i do think that you know brand cooks. I mean. I don't know i really don't know what his contract situation is. And stuff like that. But i do believe that someone could swoop in i if houston is gonna do bad this year which i think they. Will you know someone could swoop in and get brandin cooks in charge to trade for him. And i think brandon cooks got traded to a contender. You know that definitely would be something that. I would keep in mind because i don't think houston's contending for anything this year other than maybe like the number one overall pick or a top five pick in so. I think that have cooks got traded to a contender that definitely would increase his fantasy value. And i think maybe that's something that some people got. Keep in mind that something. I really haven't talked about but yeah i mean this is probably a place where brandon cooks could yet take and i just feel like you know with what was what's going on houston if shawn watson does play. It's a different story than cokes. Maybe be a little bit higher. But i think because of the uncertainty with everything going on i mean he is in training camp which i really cannot believe i really did. Not talk to shawn watson for a very long time. Because i just you know. I didn't know what the the the story is. That i had no idea he was gonna play. I mean he's just got so much stuff going on. You know off the off the field stuff and you know it's something. I don't want to talk about it. This is a fantasy football podcast. Want again to all the legal stuff and you know all that just because you know. It's it's not something that you know. I wanna get into because again. Fantasy football podcast. You know But you know if the shawn watson does play this season brandin cooks definitely would be higher in the mock draft. But because you know. I still don't think the sean is going to play in own. I still think you know. We're gonna see tyrod taylor you know. Be the you know the quarterback or whoever else they have on their roster could be the quarterback. I would say that you know this is probably a good spot to put him. However like i said he could possibly get traded to a contender. I do think that can happen. You know so if that does happen you know. That's something to keep an eye on because you know he goes to a team that needs a wide receiver. That's in contention and you know that. That definitely helps his numbers in. Oh you know that's something. Fancy people got to keep in mind. So yeah brandin cooks next player on my mock draft so then after that. I have the running back for the jacksonville. Jaguars travis etienne obviously was a running back for clemson and you know urban meyer one of the draft him for trevor lawrence and i think you know of course. Trevor lawrence is definitely. You know thrilled to have his running back on his team. Continue their journey together from college into the nfl You know one of the interesting things. In the off season was that urban meyer. Was you know trying amount at wide receiver. He's taking a wide receiver. Et an and you know now. You gotta wide receiving core that consists marvin dj charge and chenault who is also was going to be expert in my mock draft. So all kind of talk about both of them. You know. it really doesn't make sense as to why you know. He was being tried out at the wide receiver spot. I think it's just because they got a lotta backfield with james robinson and carlos hyde. You know i. I think that's really the only thing i would say you know. I think that's the only thing you can really think about is. Maybe just because of the loaded backfield guys talented so you wanna give them more reps. You know you want him to be on the field but they could definitely do like to running back sets and stuff like that you know it's going to be interesting You know. I feel like if an injury does happen or somebody. Is you know if urban meyer wants to ride the hot hand. Hopefully you know. Then that's a different story. But i think as of right now. Just because of the uncertainty with jacksonville's backfield. I think these guys like james robinson. Net tanner gonna be taken later. And james robinson he was a solid fantasy. Pick last year. You know my friend picked him up after week. One and i. And i picked up malcolm brown so you know if i would have just been like. Oh you know this. James arms and guy was pretty good. Maybe i should get him instead of getting malcolm brown because every week for the rams it was a new running back james robinson you know was really the only guy. There that you know was running the football Because i believe that guy armstead that the giants picked up. You know he was supposed to be there running back running back and he got hurt so then they put in james robinson james robinson was pretty good. You know so. It's kind of unfortunate for james robinson. Just because of the season that he had and now you've got this crowded backfield in. But i will have to see what happens but espn. Yeah he's on here and then While he was the next year. And then i have chenault. La- viscous chenault He had a pretty good season last year. You know. I definitely think you know if an injury happen. Same thing with atf. Injury happens like to chart marvin jones. This guy is going to see an increase in targets and this receiving core is pretty good for. Jacksonville is very underrated receiving core. I like it a lot i think. Trevor lawrence is in a good situation. He does have a decent amount of weapons around him. Chenault is one of them now if it wasn't for dj charge and marvin jones. I think should definitely would be a little bit higher my mock draft but because those two guys are on this team i feel like you know. He's kind of the third option in terms of the wide receiver spots so. Yeah that's kind of with the jacksonville. Jaguars players then after chenault. I have the running. Back for the raiders kenyan drake..

"He works his butt off, he can play. I don't know what else you want. So I I'll die on the hill, man. I would build a team around Gardner Minshew and I think I would win if I did it. Another guy, I feel very similar but I'd want to work with Jalen hurts, I hope it doesn't get screwed over, like, I love to he's from Hawaii off. Love to is very good. Like I really don't. I love to. I have his jersey but I don't know if tool can play like I'm a fan of two. Is he good? I don't know. Jalen hurts can play in a tournament, you can play. And I I hate when quarterbacks there's missed opportunities. Where guys, you know, I made a franchise with Colt Brennan the other day on Madden cuz I was like I feel like he never got. I looked back at film and I may rest in peace. I don't know. The Colt Brennan really was an NFL quarterback. That's going to be a franchise quarter. Kind of like hey what happens if you built around him? I'm like 16 and know, like I'm amazing with call Brandon as my quarterback he's got amazing short accuracy like short we call it short accuracy meeting. Like he's he can throw a five-yard out like nobody's business in Madden. Like it's crazy. It's like higher rated than a lot of franchise quarterbacks. He's got a terrible deep ball. What am I? I throw swings to Percy Harvin all day. I find a slant on the backside. You somebody had a whole shot like dude, I don't know. I love building teams and I hate when quarterbacks I don't get a fair shake. And when that initial lust Iraq, Is off people just discard them forever. It's like dude can still play like Blaine Gabbert with? The Buccaneers does some good stuff when he's called upon. So he said in my Tom Brady I don't know. I just feel like people are so quick to give up on players and then they're done forever. And it's like a death sentence. I hate that. David Wright said he says, what are your thoughts on check? Oh, so far as Red Bulls. Number two, I saw the other day that he has the same amount of points. Is Alex Alman did at this point last year and check. Oh, also has made a couple of mistakes, as well. Filled the problem with red bulls, second drivers, aren't the drivers themselves. Rather maybe the way the team handles them are works with them because the problems never seem to go away, even with the new driver, what are your thoughts next? Yeah, I mean thought Dana Ricardo. It's historically a massive blunder. They couldn't keep Daniel ricciardo happy cuz if Daniel ricciardo right now is a number two driver for Red Bull. I would think they're they're pushing birthday is a lot like I think Sergio Perez has been solid. He's made he made that mistake where it was yellow flags and he passed. Somebody that's like a huge be doing, but a lot of it too, is Red Bull. The team has made mistakes, he can't control that in race. Number one kid, power unit failure on the formation lap. Like that's not his fault. He's been decent and I'm still hopeful that Sergio Perez as time goes on in this F1, season can keep.

"I thought I'd throw Tim Tebow's in the mix, the guy who I always loved his work ethic, Peyton Manning's in there but for me it was always Drew Brees and Tom Brady. First of all to watch them play each other like three times. That's incredible. It's really really special like really really I'm always gonna look back at twenty twenty and remember that and go. How cool was it to see? Tom Brady I remember when when they lost in the playoffs you have Tom Brady throwing the ball on the field to Drew Brees, his sons like hot. So cool. So that was fun, but I man I it's nearly impossible to beat a Tom brady-led football team three times in one season. And if it wasn't for that, I really wonder. What would have happened? Where would New Orleans have ended up? Cuz I thought 2020 was a great year to win a Superbowl for them and they they fell short. I was heartbroken and sad cuz I always wanted to see Drew Brees win another Superbowl in New Orleans. I'm glad he got one. But I am man, it's it's a beautiful shame that you know as a football fan getting to watch. Tom Brady, play Drew Brees that many times, awesome. But as a Drew Brees Faith, heard a little bit of like oh man I would have loved to see him and on top and get one more ring before he walked away into the sunset. All right guys, I'm going to take a short break, a good stuff ahead. We have asked Zac you guys brought incredible questions to ask Zack this week this week this episode. I do I try to multiple the week so asked Zac is next, we'll talk about the Colts. We'll talk about the Bengals and amending the show today. The new tradition we're going to every single episode at the end of the show, when new segment it might be terrible. It might not be interesting, I don't know, but new segment.

"I didn't say it. I don't know why. Now since the year has ended the Panthers have traded quarterback, Teddy, Bridgewater Denver, then they traded for quarterback. Sam darnold. And I went another thing. I nailed told you guys, I knew Teddy wasn't the long-term plan at quarterback, I don't know that. He's feel bad for Teddy Bridgewater, man, his career was so exciting in Minnesota and it never got back together since then. And the reality is that Good quarterbacks all the time are put in situations. Where, like New York, the Jets were not a situation where he was set to succeed. He was never going to be about Drew Brees, you know, you kind of get one opportunity where when you're first, drafted a team will really believe in you put a lot behind you and Gardner mentions. A guy in Jacksonville where I wish that he would build around him. I wished the Jaguars built around him won't because once the shine is kind of run stuff a quarterback. They never again like you're not going to build around a thirty-seven-year-old quarterback. No one does that unless you're Tom Brady and it's it's just kind of sad. So Teddy Bridgewater. I knew it wasn't a long-term plan at quarterback. I was right about that but I was a little bit sad at a twinge of sadness cuz I like Teddy. I think he's awesome and I feel his career has just been kind of like God what kind of a missed opportunity? Like dang it man. You know in the right scenario with a really good team around him Teddy. Bridgewater could have been awesome. Now, it is worth noting that 11 of the Carolina Panthers losses. I guess, let me, let me back up the Panthers went five and eleven last year they lost eleven games. Eight, eight of the 11, losses wage by one score or less. So the Panthers did really compete last year, they lost by three points to New Orleans. They lost a Kansas City, the defending Champion by two points, they lost to the Packers by faith. Like this is a team that was regularly in the mix, even if they weren't winning a lot of games. And by the way, that's in a year, when their star player Christian McCaffrey, they're running back was hurt. He owned three games at high ankle sprain. I think part of that was Carolina was like this year, doesn't matter. We're not going to risk the future of Christian McCaffrey on this, you know, kind of down year in 2028. And you know losing those eleven games did help Carolina get a better draft pick, they drafted Corner, JC horn out of South Carolina. So I feel really good about the Carolina Panthers, rebuild so long. Our they've done a lot to upgrade and rebuild their team. The defense that you stand out rookies last year, they had Derek Brown defensive tackle, who was it's a position, doesn't get a lot of shine but I thought he did well. They had a safety. Jeremy chin was in the mix for Rookie of the Year, kind of came out of nowhere for a lot of people and was like, wow,.

"Now, another news story that was very interesting news that came out of Jacksonville. Jaguars head coach Urban Meyer came out and said that Travis Etienne would take all of his thoughts at receiver during rookie minicamp. And this was a big surprise to some people because Travis Etienne is a running back people at huh weird. The Jaguars drafted him in the first round of the NFL draft 25th overall at a cleansing. He was teammates with Trevor Lawrence in college. It is worth noting that if you look at the last two years 2020 and 2019 and combined them. He's had a thousand yards receiving like he's a good receiving running back, but a lot of people heard the news like you're not ripping Travis Etienne running back and went what's going on? Like this is a weird move and you know a lot of people said this is an interesting one I read this. People said if they wanted a receiver, They should have drafted one. Like there were other receivers available in the first round, they took a running back. Why isn't the running back playing running back? And so Urban Meyer responded, he came out and said that worst case scenario. You have a running back. That's Elite with receiver skills and that makes a lot of sense to me. But I gotta say I love the move. I think a lot of people don't understand Urban Meyer, don't understand the game and don't understand the situation in Jacksonville Jaguars already have a good running back. They have James Robinson, he had a breakout rookie year last year in 2020 and when they drafted me and I kind of looked at that and went, huh? They don't need a running back, like why is this the right move? I I don't know. Now, what makes more sense to me. So if you look, I want to teach people a little bit about Urban Meyer. The Jaguars head coach, Urban Meyer has had multiple guys in his coaching career, who he moved all over the field and the backfield that receiver running back. Just moved him all over and utilized their skills off the.

"Oh my goodness, good morning, good afternoon, whatever it is for you. I hope you're having a fantastic. My name is Zach shomler. This is strong opinion. Sports episode 353. Welcome in. It is sweltering outside, it's very hot. I got the AC on. I don't think you can hear it in the background. Pray to whatever deity is alive or out there that you guys cannot hear the sound of the AC blowing. It's sweltering. Really hot. I already said that, I guess I'm wearing like, loose-fitting shirts, trying to have short sleeves doing the best I can. It's we're entering summer, it's going to get much worse, but just cross your fingers. I'll probably a sweaty Pig by the end of the show. Who cares? No massive storm today. There's no, like, gigantic earth-shattering thing? No big trade know, this know that. But there's a lot of little stuff that's been going on in the Sports World and football. I admittedly don't I love baseball. I probably watch dog. More of the American wiffle Association. Like my friends, have a wiffle ball league up. North near Seattle. I watch more of that than I watch Major League Baseball. I love playoff baseball. I'm still not quite into it yet basketball. We're getting close to time to pay attention. Like, I mean, I watch an occasional games but really diving and really give a, I'm just not there yet but a lot of NFL stuff going on. I also want to do a reminder, I think people don't realize you can listen to the show on iTunes on Spotify, in case you don't want to watch it. You can't listen to it. I'm the guy. I don't watch podcast at all. I put in my ear, I walk around, I do dishes, I do laundry or whatever. I always have podcasts on the background. Never Sports podcast, though. By the way, I don't listen to sports media. At all. I read news and that's about it off. We're doing predictions versus reality later today for the NFC South. That's the Carolina Panthers. The Falcons, the Buccaneers New Orleans. Got some really good asks at questions today at the end of the show, like, you guys brought the juice. It's awesome. We're starting a new tradition at the end of the show, but I want to start today with a bunch of news. Here's a fun one right at the very top. Number one, silly fun story. I know it's a story, but did anybody see the picture? But Lanta Falcons running back, Mike Davis, there's not a lot of substance here but man, he's got this massive like just his legs are huge and if you, I'm going to put it on screen here watching and YouTube. I know it plugged. The audio audio people, I apologize. Go look it up former Panthers running back. Now in Atlanta, Mike gave us it's just a fun picture. Like, oh my goodness, shockingly. Shockingly huge thighs. Like the problems than my head literally like, oh, all right. That's what's going down Atlanta? Other news, former Washington, defensive and Ryan Kerrigan has signed a one-year deal with the, the Philadelphia Eagles. He spent ten years in Washington. He's now on their division rival in Philly..

"Yeah throughout this whole process I have been training in california with Ricky parole and it's been great working with him and Just learn from someone that has been the league as long as he has playing and coaching You know for me. I've been working on just having great work At the beginning of the row and at the end of the route And just like. I talked about earlier honing in on details so just continue to work on things. That rookies taught me And just kind of make sure that you know. I'm ready to go when my name called. But one thing that we do know you name will be called on draft weekend. We'll be excited to see you. Continue to progress your career unless football league. Thanks so much. Joined the program that you so much. It's opportunity but not a surprise Right i mean just a real polished kid right impressive and somebody that i think's gonna make a really good day three pick for somebody. Yeah he's talented player. He makes big plays for the cougars. All the time certainly helps when the quarterback your roommate you guys have a level of synergy in connection to make those things happen particularly when you're working off the script but he's really really good player. I think it was interesting. Dj after We finish taping. We had a chance to continue to talk and us talking about working out in preparing his relationship. With ricky pro ricky. Pro this training against ricky pros working with some of the wide receivers at repertoire. Sports of the tone is in bed group. And i had to tell him that Ricky parole was a senior when i was a freshman in north carolina and as i was entertained. The prospect of maybe going to wait for his rookie. Roy was the guy and then fast forward later. I'm scouted with the carolina panthers As a part of that team they goes the super bowl thirty eight and the appreciation. That i've always have ricky role as a route runner. And the fact that he is were with him told him that. I believe that's going to help them. Because ricky knows all the tricks of the trade in debt She's certainly help. Dax become of much better player and have a chance to write his own path in the league. I don't think people realize how long ricky role played he played for a long time in the nfl. One of the pure route runners a great teacher as well so a great resource to tap into no doubt. Well it's gonna be interesting to see how the draft goes buck. I do feel like we're in a pretty good place where we know how it looks at the top of the draft. But it's gonna get interesting man. Time is ticking down. And i think maybe we got another move or two before the draft starts to spend a wild ride here in the lead up to the draft. Oh it should be crazy being like. I think we're gonna see more moves is. We've seen all the domino's began to fall was the quarterbacks we still got a couple of weeks. It was still have teenage playing musical chairs trying to find their qb. One that it's going to be fun. "We do have somebody named Trevor Lawrence that's pretty darn good probably be the number one overall pick next year course you got to play at least three years college football and so that's what he will be doing a be entering that third year and a surprise when running back Travis Etienne decided to come back for claims in something I did not think I thought for sure he'd be one of those guys that would put his name in the hat as far as the NFL draft and I had him ranked in the top three as far as running backs coming out of college where did you have a TN and how surprised were you that he announced he's going to go back to Clemson I was a little bit surprised myself can the you know I think he would have been at least a second round draft pick and I think is a vital call to this offense here it's an offense for clubs in this you're gonna talk a little bit about them here just a bit but they were really good ravaged as far as losses go with players now you know the the real low they don't recruit they just reloaded plants and so that might not affect that team this year but the team I think he was he is a great running back is dynamic and he makes things happen and I think he's a big huge plus for Trevor Lawrence of that back feel a little set back Justin Ross boy I spinal problems and going to miss this season T. Higgins Justin Ross they were the bread and butter last year for Trevor Lawrence how big a blow that to Clemson's chances not maybe as far as the ACC goes but overall as far as the entire nation and that college football playoff goes well like you mentioned you know when you lose one big receiver to the National Football League and you bring another one back he is your go to guide the go to guy is gone so I'm sure they'll adapt the Clinton as they always do Trevor Lawrence we're gonna find out what he's all about he needs to get off to a good strong start this year to junior will most likely his last year we're going to see him it didn't last three started out slow yet either substances for seven games so it's no surprise because of a little bit slow that way again here this year but bottom line to B. as in the playbook preseason football guide we have clubs and making it to the championship game this year there you go something that not much of a surprise all right let's start alphabetically alphabetical order will star in the Atlantic side of the ACC Boston College first up alphabetically Jeff happily.

"Freshman versus? About it. And how about this other one to Ross picks up? What about Justin Ross man, that's unfair. That's not. Okay. That's unacceptable. You're not supposed to be able to do things like that. And you're certainly not supposed to make it look, easy or normal. And you want some more nightmare fuel ACC defense coordinators. Ross is a freshman. Travis Etienne sophomore, Amari Rogers, sophomore, t Higgins sophomore. I say a Simmons leading tackler last night sophomore so recap everybody who scored or through a touchdown is a freshman or a sophomore. But here's the scariest thing last night for everybody. Not wearing that par on their helmet, Clemson expected, you might not have expected it. But they did they knew they were going to do that they may have shocked America. But there was nobody in that locker room who was shocked at all defensive coordinator. Brent Venables was not shocked by anything. He saw. In fact, he was the one doing the shocking. He was the one who turned. Two inside out tournament. Dots that pick six the started. The whole thing off no fluke Venables told the athletic, and I quote, we had a little trap corner without might be there based on some stuff done in the past the corner. Rettig great. We were in cloud coverage something the Tigers haven't done too much of going to the game. It was huge right out of the gate. We came out in the first round we game couple of body blows. Then hit it right in the chin end quote. That's exactly what happened bodyblow bodyblow uppercut uppercut. Goodnight. Clemson was so good. So good Christian Wilkins was giving dabble a wet willy on the stage at the trophy presentation. They even slipped in should night reference. At the trophy presentation. You think that's going to happen with Bama with Nick up there? That was not the act of a group. There was surprised to be there. Do they look like they were surprised to be there? And according to another report, they chased all of that by playing Dixieland delight on the bus back to the hotel troll tied in by the way, if you're an elite recruit which program would you wanna play for right now, the one with the coach who dances in the locker room and laughs all the time or the one who has the dude who looks miserable. When he loses and even more miserable. When he wins. They out Bamford. Bama. They out processed the process. They were the team that was calm in the moment, dip, Damas players and coaches, raw freaking out. So is this Clemson team the greatest team ever? I dunno. It's impossible to compare eras in all that. But I know what everybody would have called Bama if they won that game. So you better call Clemson that right now because they want it, and because of the way they want it, and whether you want to call them that or not just know the Clemson is sitting on top of the mountain, and they are not going anywhere respect it respect on that. All right. Let's go to the phones. Once again, Pat, forty coming up at the top of the hour. We go this time to Bakersfield Manny in Beico central Kelly. What's going on Manny? How are you? Boston.
