Civil rights groups have been lobbying the transition team and today Biden and Vice President elect Kamala Harris met with the leaders of some of those groups. Before that meeting took place. I spoke with Professor Ravi Perry about this quest for political influence. He chairs the political science department at Howard University. Could have you here. I'm great to be with you. All right? Thank you. Although Biden has only just begun to name high level appointees so far, how would you judge his performance on this promise to assemble the most diverse cabinet in history? Well, I think that we should begin with the promise and that air of itself is a sea change from of course, what we have seen in the mostly white, Um, administration not only in terms of Cabinet secretaries, but in terms of all kinds of appointments, particularly judicial appointments of the Trump administration. So I say, because they begin with the promise of most of more diversity. That is a good thing for United States of America. Everyone should be excited for that. All right. So we begin by recognizing the effort. You're saying intentions go a long way. What about the follow through So far? And last week, there were reports that some of the older organizations like the end of the deep in the Urban League. Well, I think it's important to understand as a former president of the end of Lacey P. Chapters, the first openly gay person of African American dissent in that role in the country. You know the reality is civil rights is far broader than anyone organization. No matter how old they maybe because it requires both generations to be able to engage in this sincere diversity that the Biden Harris administration say that they want the cabin to reflect. Sounds like you're telling me to chill out. I think that they need to, but I think I do think they need to be consulted. I do think they have some great candidates. I'm sure in mind. But let's remember that you know, the president and vice president were gonna be appointing hundreds and hundreds and thousands of positions and so you know, if we're just focused on the symbolism of the script of representation, the cabinet level then we might lose the fact that what we really need in the civil rights groups. We need the substance of representation. This week, There was a virtual meeting between members of the Biden Trans Mission team and the Congressional Asian Pacific American Caucus. They are pushing the Biden Harris administration to choose Asian Americans for at least 7% of Cabinet level and other positions, reflecting Proportion of the U. S population. It sounds like you think that sort of 7% quota might be the wrong way to approach this. What we want is not descriptive representation solely what we need is 70 of representation. And so you know what we have is a I think a tension between these groups and who want to see more people who look like them in the seat of power, but what they really want. At least I would hope that they really want is more people who go fight for the interest that matter for those groups that they care about. And those people maybe people of color that looked like them, but they may not. Ultimately, do you think these pressure campaigns work? I mean, the congressional Hispanic Caucus pressed Biden to appoint more Latino nominees in the days leading up to his choosing Javier Becerra for Health and Human Services. Do you think there's a cause and effect there? I do think that the campaigns by all of these groups to try to pressure the administration does work. But we also need to understand that this is a intergenerational fight on it's a fight that's less about who looks like us and more about who was there to fight for us. San Diego is staying in the red category, and they did not make any exceptions or concessions for the case is it s d s you. We certainly see a county that is hovering around that threshold between red and purple. But we continue to have conversations about how we have the state can support San Diego as well as understanding more and more what San Diego is doing around places like San Diego State University, took her tail or limit trans Mission. The new case rate for this week came in at 6.9 just 1/10 of a point under the threshold of seven that would have moved San Diego into the more restrictive purple category. The county's positive test rate is 3.8% will the state is it 3%? Meantime, to county supervisors are criticizing the way California's handling its new Corona virus watch list, even as they come from different points of view. County Supervisor Nathan Fletcher thinks the re openings have happened too fast. In June, I was alone, no vote on a series of expedited re openings, and my fear was if we opened too many things too fast, because spike in our cases, and we have to re quote and that's exactly what happened. And then in August we got our cases down and we have the option and I feared if we opened too many things too fast, it could cause the rise in cases. And we'd be on the precedent of having two re close and unfortunately that's exactly what happened. And while supervisor Jim Desmond is happy San Diego staying red keeping indoor operations going, he wants more local control. We still had 200,000 people out there. Unemployed business can't survive with the low ratios that we're allowing them to open now, and we've proven we can operate have businesses open. We've proven we can do it safely. It'll be at least two weeks before the state looks at a new category for San Diego. Jack Gordon. Cooker NEWS. "People talking about communication is actually we have trans mission today. Jamuna -cation requires outside of its figurative definition, actual human, and our action. That's what Rachel Lou was writing about. She concludes. Much ink has been spilled about die diagnosing the problems of our universities, those concerns. And fortunately are are fairly well justified, but if we're going to win dight the current system, it's worthwhile to spend time contemplating the alternatives we would like to see again, would you like to see probably if you answer correctly, a new paradigm, a new mainstream your own mainstream? What kind of instruction would prepare cheering to support themselves in a rapidly changing world. How can we give them the breadth acceptability or daft ability, rather, an emotional resilience? They need as existing colleges. Go bankrupt families might become available. I'm sorry facilities might become available for entrepreneurs who are willing to develop other option, the failings model might appeal to a certain sort of student as a kind of collegiate level classical Montessori hybrid. Now, one more on this Joseph Pearce tonight. Print Pearson Pearson X the question or answer the question of whether or not Chesterton was a socialist, and he concluded that gesture was not a socialist that instead Chesterton was distributed. Now a lot of people have taken this term, distributive them and distributors. And turned it, mangled it into something that it's not. And it shouldn't be. I'll give you the pair phrase definition. Basically a. Distributive st-. Believes in solidarity. Subsidiarity. And believes that property ought to be private. That's one that's capable property. Are to be private and number two that it shouldn't be distributed into the hands of just B's owes a founder of Amazon. And the guys that run net flicks and Facebook, and then everyone else's out groveling for crumbs that property is better distributed in communities, as equitably or equally as possible. It is not mean that government comes in and confiscates the property and then gives everyone an equal share this is where people get this wrong good Catholics out there that totally blown this, you need to listen up because this is what this, what does really means is that because there is a system and an agreement unspoken between all parties that solidarity is what controls Ma. Most of our economic thinking in our communities, then you wouldn't see the monopoly which is done. Why, why is Beeson done what? He's done. Why have any of the of the multinational conglomerates done what they've done? They've done it to acquire massive amounts of wealth for themselves. Sampley put the classical definition. Yeah, they're greedy greed like that is sinful. There's no place for it and community that prizes the four final things. If you kick the four final things out of your economic thinking of any thinking community planning thinking, if you're gonna do it, then you're going to get secular results that are gonna produce errors and whatever's produce they're not corrected more errors. So, what's the way out of this? Morass. I said, more as start thinking, in terms of communities start thinking in terms of the welfare of everyone in a community and not just how one person or two my be able to carve out an advantage. So there I better off than you. By the by that's not communism. And that's not socialism that solidarity. No one is asking and Chesterton didn't the government to, to initiate, this and only role that the government really has in this. You're going to have monopoly laws in force them. If you're gonna make currency, something that is available only to a few, meaning that the form of capital is available is only available to the corrupt do these things we call exchange windows or trade windows, and banks will then what does the government done? The government has an aided in assisted in a sense of solidarity. It's acted upon the selfish desires of a few and rig the system in favor of them. So the idea that government is benign in this, and we want real free markets. No government is instituted among men for the common good, the good of all, not just the good of the guys that run Facebook Netflix and Amazon. Think about it.

"Yeah, full. And I guess maybe it's a little bit different, but technically it's in the trans. Mission face. Gene does a really good job of teaching where as the person gets into their final movement to get in position? Yeah, he teaches aware the gaps are is there are definite gaps there. Yeah. And in in the middle of Trump's transition, for example, that's that's a huge gap, but in a way since they don't necessarily have whatever the position they're going for, like the mount, for example, in the transition to them out, they don't really have the mount. So that's a huge gap. But it's not technically escaping them out technically because when you go to the other side of that, that transition still in the transition, though, maybe the, we'll call it the second half of the transition. It's be way before they settle for. Sure. Yeah, that's where it's going to be hundred percent. But when you're a white boat though, let's say they, they said in and you don't want someone gets like, okay, we need them out. As the example. The guy's mounted right hooks it or feet established hands wage, establish amounted. They mounted points established whatever if you're gonna tournament. Oh, and the early the earlier on. On you, you're going to be trying to get out of there immediately getting. Yeah. And that's not economy of force rate there because it's person is fully established. In fact, I'll go and tell you this, you're, you're wasting energy examinations fully, establish exactly washed your opportunity. Yeah, when during that transitional period. Great. So the point there though, is injured you to the more you learn the more you can. Learn about jujitsu, the more you're you realize that. Yeah, that's a general purpose. Like your whole digits game is economy of force your whole game. You're not gonna perfect it every single split-second of your jujitsu..

Training program where people send us, their dogs we work on training the dogs to do lots, of family manner behaviors and then we, transition them to, their owners we teach the owners, how to work the dogs once the dogs have learned to work for us and so the dogs are successful. At home most of the, time we get really. Young puppies in this program which is great it's really. Fantastic especially if, they've only been with their folks couple nights like a month. They come to us it's great because we get them when they're young and we're able. To make these huge impression During this critical development period. We still can take adult dogs and we take lots of those as. Well but a lotta times after a dog has gone through months of. Living with someone that hasn't train them or years with someone who hasn't, train them it's a lot more challenging the. "In that was victory lying you could have gotten there for you some points but he would have to have some hell from this guy really really it was a win yet they are they had a bigger cushion last week before they had that trans mission issue but all season long in this this isn't about this this first part of getting into the chase is twenty six races the only reason we look back at richmond atlanta go well we could've done that we kind that is we remember i'm proud if they go back and look at all their skip the stats that statistics and find out okay well loud and the first loud we did this and they start running through twenty six races you can find you can find other reasons why but we speak sift specifically remember what happened at richmond and atlanta they were the last year races he put on a heck of a fight and now from w or he now understands the frustration of not being in the chase which we experience last year was was better was like some i step on your toes it was so heavy in we were able to go on the charlotte a later on in one of the chase races in win and it kind of picks you backup you go okay we can do this and that's of those guys now brian padding clipboard or will move for to go we can do this and the kind of showed a glimpse of that on saturday i would mean us i picked clipboard when that race yeah i almost did my said i said if we couldn't i thought clint boyer could yeah and he has always been very strong at that trot but as we look forward to getting into the chase little bit of a different strategy element as we talked about here in terms of the rounds and for guys getting eliminated after each of those first three rounds what kind of strategy year you think we're going to see here that we didn't see last year for the interesting thing is is the rounds we have three races three races three races on the final the after the first round like right now brad a seated first he's three points ahead points really don't matter that they it's it the only reason a matter now is because of the seating from the first twenty six.
