At least 15 killed in collision between semitruck and SUV

"From Southern California, and you knew it The second you heard it. The numbers almost seemed absurd. But there were 25 people in an SUV. That collided with a semi truck. 13 people died Now when I first heard that I thought there had to have been like human smuggling going on with it. With the semi truck had to be. How do you I don't even know how you would get 25 people into an SUV designed to seat seven or eight adults. But they did it and it didn't work out because the person driving it Didn't drive very well. They apparently ran through a stop sign and boom. Got hit by a truck. Their fault completely. But those 25 people piled into that SUV had just snuck across the border through hold. In the fence there. Biden administration will probably now start mailing South and Central America directions to that hole. They surely won't plug it. This is the problem. You sit there 25 people in an SUV. What in the hell is going on? San Jose Mercury News has the story. I really thought like when I heard that 13 people had died in a car accident of in California. I thought did it Snow in California. Was there ice in California? How the hell did 25 13 people die and what happened. It was all in one car. So then SUV packed with people pulled out in front of a semi truck towing two trailers in a rural California county near the Mexican border on Tuesday. Morning, leaving at least a dozen dead and others hospitalized, officials said. So not only did 13 people die We, the United States taxpayer get the pleasure of picking up the medical bills for the people who did not die. Able, of course, be greeted by the Biden administration. With open arms and wallets, Our wallets being opened their arms being open. And concern and promises and compassion And don't worries you will not be deported. That'll be the thing. You watch these people who survive this, the people who risked their lives by stupidly piling into an SUV. Like it was a VW beetle. Back in the 19 fifties or a phone booth or something. They will be welcomed to the United States. They've been through enough. Don't you think that would be it? They risked their own lives. That's their own stupidity.

Oprah Interview Trailer Features Meghan Markle, Prince Harry

"Harry and meghan just did an interview with oprah winfrey which oprah's says no topic was off limits. She gets in deep in. She released two different promos in one of them. It's like oprah's like you're saying some pretty crazy things right here. But they don't say exactly. What and in the second promo you see. Prince harry sort of you know explaining why what he knows about his mom. Princess diana's life affected him and megan's decision to leave the royal family. Were you silent or were you silenced. Clear to everybody there is no subject. That's off limits. Almost unsurvivable sounds like there was a breaking point. My biggest concern is history repeating itself. You said some pretty shocking things. Here wait hold up. Wait a minute this

How To Make Better Decisions, Faster With Matt Bodnar

"Every day were making decisions. Now hopefully take our business to the next level. What do we do with this particular team member. How do we find the best vendor. What colors and fonts should go on the website for next marketing campaign and hundreds of other decisions like these that we have to make every single week. The stakes are high. We can't afford to make a bad decision from the ramsey network. This is the entreleadership podcast where we business leaders grow themselves their teams and the prophets. I'm your host. Daniel tardy am i guess. Today is matt bonner match the chairman at fresh technologies and he's done a lot of cool stuff. He's helped star businesses run businesses launch. New business turn businesses around and especially as passionate about helping businesses scale up from the startup stage to be in a big deal. He knows a lot about decision making strategy and how to align our behaviors with our goals. But he didn't start out in this space in fact he actually started out as a successful analyst on wall street. He was making a lot of money at goldman sachs and so. I was super curious to ask them. Hey matt why did you leave. One of the biggest influences in this is a book. That's influenced me tremendously. Was the four hour workweek. The whole tim ferriss thing and so reading that and really thinking about what do i want to do with my life. And and where do i wanna spend my time and and thinking about. I mean in a place like that you can see the trajectory. Stay here fifteen years. I'm back. I if i stay here twenty years on that guy etc and so i could see what the future looks like and all they wanted to do something more entrepreneurial and i had this epiphany i was reading this article on bloomberg about one of the founders of google. I forget if it was larry page or or sergei would basically set this thing. And they've saying you know which everyone is. The ceo at the time and their salary was one hundred thousand dollars and as a first year analyst at goldman. My salary was more than that. And so i read the article and i kind of had. This chuckled to myself as like a twenty one year. Old or twenty two year old. And i'm like. I'm so awesome like i have a bigger seat salary than the ceo. Google and then literally there was a comma and the next half. The sentence was like andy's worth twenty seven billion dollars stock or whatever and so it was just like an anvil like crushing on the head. That was like oh. You don't get wealthy from a salary you get wealthy from having equity in something and that was really. That was a big difference for me that that made me realize that having a having a high salary doesn't really mean it helps but but ultimately ownership equity is really where you generate the most value. So did that. Prompt you to think i wanna start my own thing. I wanna build something. My dad's a very successful restaurant tour and he he had been doing. A bunch of stuff in nashville. And kind of the southeast. Broadly for you know. While i was in middle school high school all that stuff and he was always when i was up at at goldman he was always like a bug in my ear. Hey come back and you know. Help me out. Come join me join me. And so eventually I answered that call in and move back to national got involved with him in a in a company called fresh hospitality which is an investment business. Essentially that invests kind of across the food and restaurant world and scales various different restaurant brands. How big was the team when you joined basically me my dad My brother and one other gentleman whose name was nikola haggas is basically four of us at the time and There for yeah. Yeah and i mean there were there were other. I mean we were essentially almost like a small private equity or venture capital firm and so I mean the operating companies that we invested in obviously had a bigger sure employees based but really that was it at the beginning. And and since then we've built this whole kind of ecosystem and infrastructure of businesses. You've worked with a lot of businesses here locally many that. I've personally been a patron and i remember martin's barbecue when we went when they were a little like double wide trailer out. South nolansville autobody shop was yes barbecue around. And nobody knew who they were. Unless you live like right in that little community and now i mean if if you know martinsburg if you've been in nashville you know martin's barbecue i mean it's just it's the spot that you go if you're a nashville I'd love to hear that story. You know i mean you you you guys. Clearly were part of them you know becoming a big deal and kind of putting him on the map And i know you guys do that with countless other. You know restaurants But how do you. How do you find the martin's barbecue when they're just this little local story and nobody really knows who they are. I mean we're we're at a point. Now where and i think you see this in a lot of different businesses where you get inbound deal flow right and so i mean we. We met pat actually through a A point of sale reseller that we that we had a relationship with was selling terminals and that he's a hey. This guy's got a really cool thing. You should go check it out and so we went and we went and just had lunch. They're checked it out and got to know him and You know helped partner up from from day. One when they were back over that little auto body shop and You know our whole thesis for for how we invest in a company's specifically within the fresh Platform is we have this whole ecosystem that we've developed over the last decade or so of everything from technology to accounting to Real estate expertise marketing the whole the whole suite of services that sit around a business and we go in and we ate we provide them growth capital but we also provide them what we call our intellectual capital of all those different things to help them scale up and so you know we. We plugged that infrastructure in and really helped him. I identify a great site. And that was their store nolansville. That they moved to that was across the street. The kind of bigger flagship store and then started very strategically looking at. Hey what are some other great opportunities for this brand and and really one of the biggest strategic decisions we made up martin was we ultimately decided that we needed to have a presence downtown and to to truly be a competitive player in the in the nashville barbecue space and plant our flag so to speak. We we needed. We needed something downtown in. That's how we ended up ultimately finding the property at martin's we call it rutledge but the downtown martins barbecue and and that's we now we sort of we. We jokingly referred to it as the mothership because it's it's this behemoth compared to the other typical martin stores but it's been a really great opponent of that business.

Mortal Combat Movie Trailer Out Now

"Few weeks we talked about so many Hollywood video game, rumors will start to lose track. It's sonic to the last of us borderlands. But now we are looking down the barrel of a real movie trailer. No rumors, no leaks. Just the real thing. Robbie, can you tell me about the mortal combat model? That's right. Mortal Kombat. Look, regardless of what you guys think I still hold the 19 nineties Mortal Kombat movie the first one As one of the best video game adaptations of all time. Willkommen annihilation. Not so much. We finally have a trailer for the new Mortal Kombat, and it looks good. So before we talk about it weird beard Let's take a listen first learned about this seven years ago on a mission in Brazil to capture a wanted fugitive. Way got their torch around unit in second year. It's hard to be superhuman abilities just shattered off Jackson's arms. It had the same way you do cold. It's a birthmark. What do you mean? He was born with it? Charcoal means you've been chosen the first mark invitation. I'm not super virus all over the world. Reference a great tournament. Champions Dragon market. I think it's an invitation to life or something known. Wow as mortal Kombat. Pretty graphic for a trailer. Special effects look Awesome. Your trumpets. I'm Sonia. That's okay. No, I'm okay. I could have done with Kane Oi Laser, though. I love all right at the feet of Earth is in our hands. How many of my people we put in the ground? You will not fail. So I'm thinking, Wow, Goro even when it comes to making a good video game movie games that don't give you a lot of story toe work with are the best. So I think that's why the first Mortal Kombat worked, and I think that's why this one can work. They have all the things that we expect from a mortal Kombat to be in there. Be on Lee. Two issues that I have is the main character. Uh, Cole Young. Okay, so let's let's talk about this. If you haven't seen the very first Mortal Kombat movie, right where you've never played it more. Let's start with if you've never played a Mortal Kombat game. Mortal Kombat doesn't have a main character there. You know, it's just It's just a bunch of characters they come to The Mortal Kombat beyond their own little back story, and and you fight toe live basically so the fact that instead of using a character within the mythos whatever they're coming up with some Original one. Well, that's because in the original movie they actually cast Luke hang memorably as like the main character of the movie. There's nothing wrong with that, though, but that is the point. It's a change. Now you go into this new movie where they've essentially created a new character. It's not somebody that's a Mortal Kombat character. It's not somebody that they've talked about before. Not a good look for a video game movies they Hey, we're going to start by creating a brand new character who's not in the game. It sounds like a really bad decision could work will see. But then the other thing that I'm worried about. Is this whole. Oh, if you have the birth Mark. That's your invitation to it. The whole idea of destiny. What That tells me is the first half of the movie is gonna be cold being like, Oh, but I don't want to. I don't want to do this. I don't believe in destiny and kind of fighting back against it before he finally decides. Okay. I guess I'll go fight for the world. All of this movie needs to do is have the same sort of action that we saw in the trailer through the whole thing. We want to see blood. We want to see fatalities. We want to see moral combat. This is a really should be a really easy video game movie. To make work, so we'll see if they're able. But why would you

"This is handle on the law. Marginal legal advice. Where i tell you have no case. This is floored where a woman is suing the town. She lives in after getting more than a hundred thousand dollars in parking fines. And so is the story of sandy martinez and she parks in her driveway in such a way that she has violated the town ordinance and has been for over a year parking her car in violation of the town ordinance. Whether it's on her property it goes over the driveway. Whatever does the story doesn't tell us exactly what she did. But she's been sitting there and accruing fines of over one hundred grand and now. She is suing the town saying that you have no business finding be one hundred thousand dollars. That is excessive and therefore it is illegal and therefore the fine should be removed and the argument is that the amount of the fines are catastrophic and the government doesn't have the power to impose the financial death penalty so to speak for trivial violations. The company said or her lawyer said the town finder two hundred and fifty dollars per day for the harmless offensive part Parking your car partially on our own front lawn which is clearly in violation and she did it enough to where she got. Hit two hundred and fifty dollars a day and wouldn't and by the way wouldn't move her car it's not as if they towed it away. They just kept on hitting her with fines because they would hit her with a fine she would affect too bad. I'm not paying and now that it's hit a one hundred thousand dollars. He says that's unfair. And she thinks that the law itself or the fine is excessive. She's going to have a tough time with this. And the reason is and the only reason of the reason. Her arguing excessive is that it's it has added up to so much money. Well it's how much the initial fine was. And she's violated violated violated violated. And i think she finally got The two hundred and fifty dollars a day out of two hundred and fifty dollars a day for the entire year three hundred. I don't know but three hundred times to fifty years but it's more than a hundred grand so her argument is not gonna fly for example. Let's say you get a part. Let's say you get a speeding ticket day after day right. And it's a couple hundred dollars and you don't pay it and somehow you're ignoring the warrants. That are out for In your name in the end you get tagged after five months speeding every day and wait. That's too much money. You're charging me doesn't work that way. And so she's gonna lose. There's no question and and the legal issue is does the city have the right to impose a fine of two hundred fifty dollars date. Yes does the city have the right to determine where parked my car on my property. Yes you can't park on your lawn yes. Does the city have the right to say on a public street. I can't part more than seventy two hours us. More than seventy two hours which is my local ordinance. Otherwise they told the car. Hey it's my property. That's a public street. You can't have the right to take away my car. Oh yes we do and it happens all day long so great argument lady absolutely for sure phone calls. Hello audra welcome to handle on the law. Hi four and a half months ago. We were heading out of town. Pulling our brand new trailer year-old fish tailed and Flipped and it was totaled My trucks has one insurance but trailer has a different insurance. My trucks and repaired. We're all good. My trailer was sold. As i said I signed a month ago. I signed the title over to them and they in the letter said we're going to give you forty five thousand dollars. I can not get the money from them. I keep getting passed around to people by sue. Them you've got assume. You have no choice if sue the insurance company. Now it's all you can do. The insurance companies the one that breached the warranty the contract insurance company good news. That's good news. Okay so you find out where they do business. Are you in the state of california. Do they have an office in the state of california. I believe they. Do you find out where the offices and you sue them. And if you can't find an office in the state of california then what you do if they don't have An office but they sell in the state which clearly they do. Then you simply contact the secretary of state and you could do this all on the internet very easy to do and you find out who the agent for service of process is. There's actually the name of a law firm or a an individual where you can serve the company and then that individual law firm whatever law is representing whoever you're suing who is not in the service of process service awesome. Yeah just go right to the secretary of state. Hello jake bill. Yes what can i do for you

But we're we're super pump to take a deep dive into it but before we get to that. We just wanted to touch on a couple subjects and ryan last wednesday right before the nintendo direct rocked. I was so excited. Because i was almost one hundred percent. Sure that we were gonna get breath of the wild or pokemon or metro news. And we got them. We struck out. We struck out if you haven't you happen to be me on twitter. You saw like like the realization that like none of that was happening. And i look. I'll start by saying this. There were a couple of games. That intrigued me. I'm actually looking forward to the new. Mario golf game of the project triangle. Game looks interesting. I love that art style. But i don't know ryan. I was just disappointed. What about you. yeah. Yeah it was definitely. I felt like it was pretty underwhelming As far as what we thought we were gonna get versus what we actually got So i mean again. There were some some nice Games that they presented and whatnot. But i just thought that especially with it being a thirty five year anniversary of zelda. I thought we would get some some big news as far as with that again. What they said they were gonna port a port over night. Work soared scar. Yeah and i never. I never played that one. So i am excited to have the opportunity to actually go through and run that Zelda but i mean again it's it's been it's been a good amount of years since Breadth of wild came out. They've already we already know that breath a while to is is in the works. I thought for sure going to drop it like it's hot and give us some heat there but you know we. We did not get that so it'll be interesting. I mean again. This could be something that maybe in the second half of the year that they looked to drop then as well again. We know that anytime. People are are rushing games They seem to to very much have a negative impact on their releases. So you know again you guys. They know what they're doing They they always had. I feel like they have a solid plan as far as marketing and getting games out and stuff like that so i still think we'll get it this year Yes i thought it was going to happen then but the years not over is still early. My friend deshaun. Hopefully you're right. I just the joy was getting sucked out of me. The longer let direct went on in the close to the end that we got. That's okay though. That's a good. You're right the year is young christina a u and nintendo fan at all. Did you catch the direct. Yes i did not get to watch the direct because it winds carrying my meetings. But i will say that as a very large fan since childhood i straight up do not understand word sword. I'm just gonna put it out there. I would much rather buffalo wild to or just a teaser trailer. Something anything five seconds. Give me a carina time. At least you know what. I mean like i. Yeah i yeah. I don't even know what that is a series. What was that four. Like thirty something. I

"Before we get into it. We're about to talk about. I just wanna get the trigger warning for drug abuse by this. D'amato docu series. Julie i cannot tell you how excited i am not only to watch it but then to talk about it on this podcast. Oh my god. Same obsessed with the first one. I was so i cannot wait for this. Yeah this whole theme of celebrities with these docu series. I think i just really enjoy it. I feel like it's a completely different look into their lives. And for anybody who didn't see there was a roughly three minute trailer released for her docu series called dancing with the devil is going to be a four part series premiering on march twenty third and in it. I mean this. This trailer was seriously packed. We saw so many different things and of course a lot of it was centered around her overdose and how she really almost died. There's this one part where she says. My doctor said that. I had five to ten more minutes. Had a lot of lives. Like my cat on my ninth life talking about how she had three strokes she had a heart attack and kinda just the level of severity that that overdose caused her and how she really was on the brink of death. And i know we know it. I know we've heard her make statements on it but watching us it was additionally powerful and i am so like deeply invested in her story. I can't even explain

"In Italy and it was horrible in here. Gil Grissom you know. Going no sequin. A- well I I've also heard that the money heist had a head kind of a a problem with the dubbing like it wasn't even like the words the translation there was. There are many things that were lost in translation when they did the the the English dub so everybody was saying. Oh like you have to watch it in the original with subtitles. And I'm like Jimmy night. Not that harsh we fall asleep. I mean I watched every Curacao. Movie night dubbed. I mean it can be You know there's so many movies that have been dubbed. I'm just used as you know it's like look down. Okay can still see the picture. It's not but so many heist Last Sunday I showed Rocco And Martin Rocco said Iran and watch fiddler on the roof. Oh Okay so. That was fun and The DVD that. And I mean my my son. Maybe I don't go to their website that the stars because I pretty much shown him every Alien Terminator Movie. That's been amazing. She's eleven he's just like never to early just affects just a fact. I keep trying to figure out when Goodfellas when I can do goodfellas with the kids unanimous in so well there's a difference between facts and like language version and misogyny Chris you peel and try and mom I just need a. I just need a knife. I hit the road we did. We started watching Ozark and for some reason we just we stopped. I think there is something came up for a while and then I don't think we've ever gotten back into it but I did really like when I watched. It was really good. The boyfriend falling out of the window. Oh that's great when that happened. Here's like when he's walking towards the Building Museum. Who was exactly me? Hooked me the whole thing? It's amazing. Yeah we're five episodes in to the to the whole thing not just in the season two or whatever it is just the whole thing we're five episodes in and and I mean it's so like he gets you know he gets punched in the face to take over like a restaurant like crazy this sues and I mean so far. It's yeah it's it's got me I mean I think it's it's So far it's I'm always. Moh Up for hillbillies so if you got a hillbilly family. That's a look into connoisseur. Well let me ask you though so like being from Chicago we would always go up to like Minnesota or we would be up in northern Wisconsin or something like that but you being from Kentucky would you go down to the ozarks or what would you guys if we're going on vacation or something like that. It was always lanes Florida. Having you know go down and go through you know go through Georgia and Alabama and go to Florida Gota Gota pretty much. My parents used to go to clearwater Tampa Saint Pete. Okay so you guys never went to Missouri in the ozarks and all that stuff. Yeah we didn't either so I'm not I don't really know it is far. I mean I'm familiar with it. I've been through that area but I don't know what the way like people who would vacation there on but again it's a good premise. Good acting like almost need to get back to. What was that show with the guys? The what's her name from. Setv and Eugene Levy and Shits Creek Shits Creek which. I believe we started watching that. And we're about five episodes in but that again fell off the cliff to where we stop. Watch I I thought I could convince Ando Watch it. Because of Catherine O'Hara and just Katherine Harris Character so phenomenal in it and yet it didn't hook and there was something like just not likeable about the wideness of the characters that she just couldn't latch into it like that's the genius of what's going on here and she just couldn't do it so all right gentlemen. Jim Was a pleasure having you man Syria. Jimmy appreciate it. It was great meeting you tune. You have lovely living. I'm ensconced in you know..

"Home. He goes eight DOC CAMERA ZOOM. Call together over. But it's hilarious too that you know. We talked about this a little trolls trolls world tour. Everybody's touting as like the biggest home box box office release ever you know what I mean. It's like the initial release made more money than Vendors and game. Yeah no it it made I think sixty million dollars in in home or there must have been no other kids movie that I know and they were but they were charging twenty dollars a pop for to to to stream it to stream it as a rental for forty eight hours and I was saying a couple of weeks ago. I said I wanted to rent it just to just to see this move just to be part of this group and and was like we pay so much buddy and all these streaming services. I'm sure there's something you could find in one of the twenty streaming services that we have that that we pay over twenty dollars for that would be just fine for the children and I'm like you're right. You're right but then I read this article where it made fifty to sixty million dollars. I think it's a little hazy but somebody rented this movie three times in a week and they spent sixty bucks to see this movie because they have three rows and they're like oh we would have gone to the movies a couple of times to see this movie but I actually paid less to see it three times at home. You know. So it's like it's like a it's all about how you compromise the the the expenditures of your your allocated funds. You know it's amazing today. I can save you some money. That movie is showing at the drive in that shown with sonic the hedgehog actually get. Did you get a you? Get a double feature and I'll pack people in that car. I don't care about the person limit row quickly though backed up back to Hollywood. Yeah I've watched a lot of Ryan Murphy stuff. I mean I. I watch popular back. When popular was on and talk? Nip TUCK was great. Oh Nip Tuck was. I wasn't a glee person but I kinda got it. I really liked American. Horror Story If it the few seasons were really misses but for the most part Thought it was really good and A lot of those same themes that are coming up in Hollywood. I've seen over and over again in his stuff so it's not like I wasn't sitting there going. Wow that's something I've never seen before Ryan Murphy. Well the funniest thing about Lip Tuck. I was working at a small manager shop at the time. It was productive postponed as a production. House postproduction We did the new Dennis. The menace movie sneak preview entertainment and I was part of my job was checking out the breakdowns in breakdowns. When they come out they they're basically casting calls but they come out on the Internet so you have to check them out and we have to look over with all of them. We get the Nick Nip tuck breakdowns and the nipped breakdowns. Where the most interesting breakdown of anyone? Because they were like looking for someone who has a a deformity and of course they named the deformity. But I don't remember the name but it was like the woman that didn't have had like no hand but had like. Oh Yeah. I remember that the arm that was like you know fashion so that you could use your your Tibula your fibula leg bones or or you know it was like the crab hand or something and it was like these weird. Yeah the claws like law and it was like they're calling out for these actresses that are like this and it was like it was the strangest thing that I would see it a breakdown. It's like you have to have this before back. It was like you're a shoeing if you if you're an actress and you have this deformity. It's like this is the rule for you. You know and I. It's yeah it's incredible. It's like the slice that you're going for on. A breakdown is so narrow. The weird thing is after watching that story. Kinda play out through NIP. Tuck and everything and then we move here and my neighbor has well. Their daughter has it actually. And I wouldn't have otherwise. Been sensitized to it. Had I not watched that series of things through NIP? Tuck and I was like. Oh Wow that's interesting like now. I'm a little bit more compassionate about you. You know and that was your. That was your action but minor action. I'm a Dick. Because I was in Saint Mark's in Venice right and this is well before that like Anadyr like married and I was doing my my film abroad and for Easter we had. We decided we'll do a weakened in Venice and we'll do like saint marks for Easter. So basically we do. Saint Marks for Easter. You spend like a one whole mass trying to get into saint marks and then one if you want to see if you're finally get into saint marks then you have another mass where you're in Saint Mark's right and we're doing side of peace inside of Saint Marks and I turned to the guy next to me when you could shake hands because we're never going back shaking hands in church but I turn guy next to me and he's got this beautiful girlfriend wife but he's got no hand he's got that thing and he puts it out to shake my hand and I was like I'm going to hell because I could reach out to shake this guy's head but I do it. You know what I mean. He's willing to put his. You know his stub arm out from you to Shahab. Yeah and I shook it and I was like I'm going to hell just for thinking like Oh my God. This is weird right and then she didn't scream out. Jesus Christ and I look at his girlfriend and I was like. Oh my God so there's hope for all of us. He's got this beautiful girlfriend. I've got this beautiful wife. You know sick American horror story show C and this and this is Ryan. Murphy's thing right he goes back to. It was Evan Evan. What's his name Evan? Evan Hansen No. He's in all of his all the American horror short stories. You know they have the same kind of that. Same actors all through the show. Oh Jimmy and I don't sleep very well so we don't watch American also you may. You may know him because he was He was quicksilver in the X. Men Movie Oh yeah okay. Yeah Evan I can't think of his last name right now. He's in there and he has you know I and where he has like three fingers. And these are kind of deformed and the whole thing is he basically goes out and satisfies women. That's part of his money on the side. Kinda go okay again. I see that and I go Brian. Murphy. So is that Evan. Peter Peters yes. Hey Yeah there we go. He's really good. He's always good in anything he does but that was his character in that in that one. That's too funny. I think it's a no brainer again. The bar go you know for Hollywood. It's on Netflix. We all get net flicks. It's what is at twelve thirteen bucks a month. Whoa I mean we're all subscribed I mean who's not and it's so funny because with co so we're all gonna walk home in Nineteen. I basically we were sharing a subscription with With with family friends and covert nineteen. I was like oh now. We need our own subscription. The kids can all be on theirs. And we can watch our separately. Because I think you have three screens that you could watch it on three three streams at a time I was like I'm not gonNA eat once over the past five years. We had a call from my friend. Sorry Gabe Yeah. We got a call overburden when she's like all right. We'll get the kids off. Hey kicking us so now. I'm like Oh we just gotTa do it and then I got my first bail because it's been over a month in this this quarantine. I was like well. We just pay it. We'll just deal with this later. Was funny when when I Martinez when we when we left here and moved in the early two thousands we lived in Las Gatos. Which is the home of Netflix Netflix? And in fact we had a We had some friends and we went over to their house for dinner one night and he came in and he he owes. You WanNa see the greatest thing in the world and he showed me a Netflix envelope with disc said you can order from this company. It's it's based here in town and you can order now. I wish to God has gone out and just bought every netflix piece of stock. That I could find what course it didn't but yeah he was like this is the greatest thing in the world so when when net flicks we actually got it here in like two thousand four and then when they went over to streaming because for a while you could get streaming and still get the disco. Ya exactly and then you know. Then they end. They broke that and said okay. You have to pick one or the other so we picked the streaming and But yeah I remember having a friend of mine from Film School Come over and you know I was just like sit down and watch us and I'm like going okay. Now find him. Did you like that movie? Yeah Okay Click and you know at that time. I can't remember what our Internet was but I mean it. It took fifteen seconds for it to load and then it started to play and he was like. Oh my God. Am I going yeah game? This is a game changer. This is going to change earlier tonight. You were just talking about how you know. There are these finite spots for these. These animated animated shows that you were producing and and you're all striving and fighting for this this slot of time. Because time was the the leveler you know it was like on a Saturday morning. There's only X. number of hours that that each that each channel has to offer and once once you shed that it's like Oh now what's the paradigm what's the New Paradigm of something like Net flicks? It Oh and it's so funny because net flicks you know got us. Is this hometown for Netflix. And they shared office building with Roku Dow. So so you know we're we're we like got us. We have family friends that have a place in those got us that we frequent and And even as as far as early as this evening it'll right before dinner. I was checking my email and this billy's Boston Shack or Billy's Boston Chowder plays right. It's like in Los Gatos and it's this this spot where they're trying to offer their take home stuff and we get emails from a bunch of places. Los Gatos because we frequent them when we go and and I got this email and I was looking at all their special dad cooking in the kitchen and I was like. Why am I torturing myself looking at Boston? You know like to see what they have to offer for pickup. When I'm you know I don't think grub hub does that unless it'd cost you like a thousand dollars but I just want to go to those goddess so bad and I'm like Oh we gotta go you know but it is hilarious that that that little that little sleepy town like the sleepy town of Burbank. You know so many years ago but Burbank is when you when you when you get into the Burbank mentality. Burbank and Los. Gatos have some some some similar aid to them? It's it's like this. This sleepy older community towd. You know it's like these. The townies the outskirts of both Silicon Valley and Hollywood. And it's like this hub of innovation and technology and commerce. But it's really just like it's because it's just in the outskirts of where the industry is you know and it becomes like a new industry ribbon ribbon ribbon of industry you know. So it's it's very. It's very funny. That that geographic space still matters. You mentioned the The ROKU that was funny because in two thousand eight one of Martinez Friends I I told him I said we we were basically having direct TV. And we're spending ninety bucks a month on direct TV. The I think the only show that we had time to watch with our schedules was Csi The original CSI. Yeah and then I was just like listen. Let's I I'm just going to buy a computer and have the computer. Be Our basically our conduit media center. Yeah Yeah Right Tower and I told this friend of ours who is also at Caltech. He was just like this two thousand eight and he just goes. Why don't you just get a Roku? And the first the first roku player was out and we bought one and it was just like. Oh my God this is fantastic and you know ever since then so it was great Jimi Jimi is a big fan of Roku as well. I've got we have a fire stick on one. Tv We have a Roku three. Which I I still keep. It's older one but the only thing I like about it is it actually has a. It's a one on her bedroom because it actually has on the remote. You can put in a pair of headphones phone. We have that one. Yeah yeah which is Great. Because it's you know Martin. They used to fall asleep. And I would sit there and watch you know Chinese karate movies two in the morning I was. I was watching the the season. Finale devs last week and An and like no two weeks ago three weeks ago. She kicked me out because I was watching. Devs too loud in the house right so. I watched the season finale and I walked out I watched it on my on my picnic table outside and texture and in the middle like. Where are you like? You're not of the house what's going on and I was like. I'm just watching. The finale of DABS. Leave me alone..

"And then frank with all the girls and then at the very top it was Jomon Tena as Dean Martin. Who's just smoking and in the room by himself because he was A. He was a severe Catholic so he would never do for the kids and he wasn't going to screw that up so he like in the bed to smoking by himself. So you Kinda go okay. There you go. Here's the same grandmother who would often say dean. Martin could put his shoes underneath my. Wow she had a list back in the day she had a fight over telling you that's awesome. I love your grandfather but this happens if it were to happen. I think I get past. I need somebody to love. But that's kind of where I see. This movie going is a Netflix excess. At the thing I love about it though is again we talked about Ted like the bar is so low to get into these things. Once it's released I'm going to watch it so funny and I see something like this and they're watching trailers inrushing trailers for theatrical movies. And you kind of you kind of hope and you wish you dream and you're like I don't know does this mean it's twenty twenty one or at least like who knows what this is but then you see netflixing. You're like okay. It'll be a next week by the time driving. I we realize this podcast. It'll be out again so we need more lead time. We don't get a lot of lead time. I just read that. They're going to be putting out the new. Scooby dum movie now is going to be streamed instead of put out in theaters out really brothers one and they just pushed back the next Spiderman movie so marvels having to move all of its stuff back. I'm still I'm still hoping that this is going to be key spiderman homeless because because it says the day they're definitely gonNA use home title and they had Spiderman Homecoming spider-man far from home and then Audrey and I were speculating together and I said spider homeless and she came up with that and she said it to me and I put out a tweet and she goes. I stole it from someone. I'm like I just put it in a tweet. She goes out original Spiderman at.

"Go and film stuff so my wife can see of course as As they as you find out the schools go. Well sure we'll have any parent could come to thirty in the afternoon. So then your typical cove in one thousand nine hundred day these days is you're at home and you're taking care of rental properties and children relevant homes interesting right now. Yeah so yeah. I'm dealing with that. One in the legal seems fine but the the one of the ones here is good and the other one is i. You know we understand to. Yeah you have to. It's like you can only pay half this month and you go okay. We'll we'll see what you can earn the future and stay healthy and stay indoors exactly right so you just taking a shift in your career and your kind of semi retired. It sounds like I would say that except I work more than I do. When I'm at Warner Brothers normally will Cova Kobe wise? Because I would take you know the the kids in in the morning and pick them up in the afternoon and lasted. My daughter actually had a zero period class at Burbank. High School off. I leave here at ten to seven to get wishy band or something that it was or is she actually wanted it. Well not doing that now. Yeah we almost almost. We'll move because of a zero period. I was like are you if you want zero period. We can't be out here in the valley we gotta move into Burbank. And I think I think we talked her out of that time. I was awake anyway so it wasn't that big of a deal after you've got young kids for a while you're you know you can hear every crack in the house. Oh Yeah for sure. So yeah now I. I usually wake up. I still wake up at seven and walk. Our Dog get away my wife Coffee Espresso and then I'll come back and then I'll kind of like make sure my son is up and then during the you know the Monday through Friday. He's got stuff on computer now Google classroom and he has stopped at exactly. Go through what he needs to do. And my daughter. My daughter is pretty much on remote control. Just be posted on her door saying in zoom meeting. I should put that on my on my dining room but it has no doors so I don't know what we're GONNA do. It's been interesting because we really have in other than going to like the store and last Sunday we actually went to drive in a drive ins are still open and the drive in movie a drive in movie. Yeah I heard about this. Resurgence where where? Where do you go? Where did you go? He went to the mission. Tiki drive in at an awesome. It's like way out the ten but they were showing last weekend. It was a double feature on Friday Saturday and Sunday night. And it was raiders of the lost Ark and almonds and the last crusade. That's grown gray. So we went out on Sunday night. We actually ended up staying for one because it was by then it was like quarter till eleven and they had. We had the next morning and stuff but it was digital theater. And you know you had to park within ten feet of another car. You're not allowed to get out and sit in chairs. You had to stay do they? Fm transmission the okay and they have four screens. So you go in and basically it kind of like you know there's one through four signs and you follow it and basically take a different park and you kind of look around and see the other four that the you're not facing them right. It was pretty cool and they. They had a snack shop open. But we actually popped bags of popcorn before we went to that. Yeah that was like savers together. It was so funny though. Because you know we actually my producer. Those three movies had put on facebook like. Oh Yeah. We're GONNA you know. Definitely go this weekend raiders. And I was like on Lao. I hadn't thought of that drive in. Oh Wow and I told my more dislike going out of the house. Well that leads me to the next question that I mean like you know. Everybody's you know. Kinda hold up at home and everything. What are you doing to stay sane? What are your hobbies interests? Are you exercising? I mean like what's the day today day looked like I know you said that Utah took the dog for a walk and went and got espressos and things in the morning but I actually started a Diet. February first Before the whole cut Cova Danny hit right right and This is only allowed me to exercise more so I actually walk with my wife at in the evening and I usually walk in the day but you know with both walks together probably five or six miles a day. Okay and we live in the Burbank Hills on. You're talking like you know God. That great up to your house is is a is a track. I I can't even my car can't even make it up that thing to think it was hard but now I'm just blenders blown that away that's awesome. That's fun and then the other stuff we were I mean we are. It's funny because we've collected stuff over the years when I worked at a mom and pop shop in one thousand nine hundred eighty two eighty four video games so like two years ago. I bought a Like a video game that has twenty thousand video games on it. But it's a stand up so you know we're playing those now and we know that's cool we have a simpsons pinball machine that we can play and I tell you that one of the big things was This last Christmas my son had asked for a oculus quest. If you know what that is this rift like the virtue exactly. Yeah the West is the it's got its own screen on the inside of it and I know after two or three weeks you know my wife would have been saying like I'm into really wanted to go to the beach so I went on the OCULUS website and I. I actually found like a a thing that was for relaxation nice and it has like mountains and beach and stuff like that plays new age. Kenny G. Music and you know and you can go sit down on the beach in your like looking at this realistic waves coming in. And you're just like wow. This is great. We bought some adventure games to that are stop at that. That's worked out great. We're all kind of. We're all kind of hooked on Games. That are kind of like puzzle game so you have to get out of a room but man. It's nice like Mr something Well yeah I mean this one. That was called the room which was really needed. Kinda has there's no other characters it it's just you and of course you can see your hands as you're holding these controllers doing things but You know you can. You can walk around and look at stuff and it really. You know. There's it's kind of haunting in a way because you know it's like you're left in this place and there is a a mummy sarcophagus in the middle of it and you have to figure out how to open it and then you do and there's a dead mummy in there and you have to you find a piece of some glasses that you can do and you can see like you know ghost and stuff. That's cool like escape rooms steph. Exactly yes it's a and there are several of those that we just got another one called It was funny. I had to show Rocco Wyatt's named what it's named It's actually called I expect you to die so I had to pull up gold finger and actually show my son on because it's a it's basically you're a james bond character and cool you know. Rocco started playing that today and he was like this is really addicting fifty times. But it's a car I another day. It's pretty cool. There's a couple of other ones in there so that's been a big thing. We have a swimming pool which has been used quite a bit. Especially now that it's actually heating up a little God. Yeah thank God. The past couple of days have been like ninety degrees. I would love swimming pool right now. Even here it's so war unseasonably don't tell don't tell us about LOMPOC hot. What does that seventy five at least eighty five but the nights the nights get still get to fifty five or something right. Oh Yeah it's like forty seven right. Now you're right I think going down to seventy six tonight all right so gentlemen. How about we talk holly. I know like Jim Works in Hollywood. Ted Works in Hollywood and I live about two hundred miles. Well I I will say that. One of one of my favorite of our last. You know we talked about lost Spirits but one of my favorite spots that that We had a couples Date was Formosa Cafe and that was that was a lot of fun we had four. We had four Mosa cafe. We went we went and had dinner at the Formosa Cafe. You know the Chinese restaurant but it has some tiki theme stuff going on. It's an old old Hollywood. Hollywood it's like forties and Elvis had a booth there and it was like what's the Cross Street. Or where is the Mosa Avenue and says it sunset or Santa Monica Santa? I'm I don't know one of those. But Yeah we you're one one booth away from Elvis's booth and of course. Jim knew that and I didn't so he's not. He was into all of the spots. All of the things and this movie this so this week we had the trailer for Hollywood. Which is a netflix movie? Where the The creators of Glee and American horror story have a reinventing of old Hollywood. It had more of the socially acceptable promiscuous of the time had made its way into the mainstream so About six months ago I think there was a story or a movie or documentary. That came out about this gas station in Hollywood. That was the basis of this old documentary. Not Documentary but like a memoir of the guy who ran this thing and he basically ran like the back room and he was a Gigolo for all of Hollywood deletes from Rock Hudson to what was then Jayne Mansfield so like everyone that was anyone if they wanted anything whether it's sexual or promiscuous or a pack of cigarettes or or take a guess could go to this gas station and get it there so it was. It was kind of his room memoir of his time there. And then they you know they took the story and Ryan Murphy. I guess fell in love with that part of the story but then took it in this other direction to kind of along the lines of What if this kind of took mainstream by storm in and they kind of rotate out back in the day? So I I love that idea of like kind of taking it. And it's a little about like what's they. What's the animated? What's the series on Amazon? That has like the Third Reich winning or something you know man in the high caste men and high caste this is like men and high castle. Except it's this promiscuous Hollywood from from Rock Hudson era you know like Errol Flynn Rock Hudson. What you're saying is like when rock Hudson came out with HIV and eventually died of AIDS and my grandmother taken aback that how could someone so handsome. So masculine like rock. Hudson have died of AIDS. And you know everything and so what you're saying. Is that this movie assuming that they would be able to talk about HIV or homosexual relationships or whatever it may have been at the time my grandmother in the forties or fifties. And then you look at her in the eighties nineties and two thousands would would be much less shocked that something like that can take place because it was already in the mainstream in the forties or fifties. Right I is that. Is that what you're getting? I hope that's the case. That's what the because I kind of had the feeling. That's what this is about this. That's what the sailor is selling to us. So I hope that it exactly does what it what it says it's going to do. It has a a you know. An new Screw screenwriter who is African American. And he's being kissed by like this White Hollywood elite. So it's like it's like if I can if I can interject really quick I remember. I don't remember the movie but I remember. I was watching something with my grandmother and I keep bringing up to her and she was like a huge fan of like Dean Martin Frank Sinatra and the rat pack and all you know and what she wound up talking about you know we were sitting watching whatever the movie whatever. The added bio-pics but Frank Sinatra's in bed with like three other women you know and it's like they're all getting busy on on like with Frank Sinatra like there's nobody else in the room but like he and these three other women and it was one of those scenes where probably how would have gone down and would have gone down multiple times over and over and my grandmother the the moment they showed this her first reaction was you know like there's no way that could have right right you know and it's just like. I'm sure it did happen. You know like I get you have puritanical sensitive about you but like these people and just you know if you had the opportunity you would have taken advantage. And that's kind of where I see this movie. I remember that movie. I think it was called. The rat pack is that what a what a Rayleigh Oda was Frank Sinatra. Yes that's right that is exactly about that was the camera is going up this building and basically it's like basically looking in the windows from the outside yeah and it. Sammy Davis Junior with basically his his white fiance. And then frank with all the girls and then at the very top it was Jomon Tena as Dean Martin. Who's just smoking and in the room by himself because.

"If this is the if this is what the director announcement looks like where you get this this high quality of a teaser trailer than when the caskets announced I think expect another teaser trailer that is of Thai. Top dollar quality overall. I mean is this a reboot of the eighty four version? Yes, I think I think we're sidestepping the all-female Ghostbusters, which is sad. Because I thought it was a great film onto itself. But Bill Murray is rumored to being character an actor in this. And I think he was in the last one he was in the all female cast. But I don't know that he was as himself. I think he was. So do you think this is like a hand off to say, you know, I'm passing the torch? I think so I think so and hopefully it has all of the Ghostbusters from the original two movies. And then I think that's the other reason it's called Ghostbusters twenty twenty or GB twenty because they don't want to necessarily call it goes three because that that kind of diminishes the contribution of the all female Ghostbusters, which I think was great. So in a way, they're gonna hand it off similar to lake a Star Trek movie. Yes. Yeah. We're. Erred Kirk comes in does his little cameo. And then it goes into the new cast. Yes, you think it's going to be something like that? It'll be like I contact all over again, just who the hell you his James thi Cuc. Don't you read history? Yeah. I mean, I'm looking forward to it. I mean, this is one that goes see it's like right in my wheelhouse. I was what thirteen fourteen years old when the other one came out and loved it. Have you kids seeing them? No. They love the song. Okay. They'll I think little young for it. I think I think it's a little bit. You know, when they're floating above the bed crazy stuff. You know? It's just too much for their age right now, we've actually kept it from our kids as well. For the same reason, the innuendo little much, and I'm thinking, you know, like you can explain out how the demon ISM. And all this stuff is just like movie satire, or whatever it might be. But like in their mind, they see that stuff is real, you know, right? And I don't need them having nightmares as you know, the gatekeeper, and blah, blah, blah. And then all of a sudden, it's we're like camping. And then all of a sudden marshmallows are coming after. Yeah. We're we're kind of waiting on it a little bit. But the songs. Okay. No. But I think is a tease this is like the quintessential like perfect TS. Because it you already know what goes Buster's is. Yes. And it just brings in the lightning storm blows back and shows you the ghost with the circle with the line through it and cuts out. I mean like, yeah. It's just teased it, you're like, wow. Total tease. It's like as if it came up at had you had the Star Wars logo. I mean like everybody knows what that is. So, yeah, it's brilliant. It's brilliant. Well done Jason. Right. So ted. I know you said your beer was a little bit like blue moon. Whatever. How's it finishing at finished? As it started. Not my favorite. Okay. A solid a little too floral and orange little to citrus. I would I prefer like the Citra Delic over this. So we'll we'll see how this goes. I have a couple more. So I'll I'll see how they are with curry with with some. Some Indian will you already had with your dad? But I was the dad did it. So exactly okay. Go across the street Bigham to. That's right. We'll do that. Yeah. Yeah. Cool. Yeah. My beer gone. Arguably one of the best I've ever brewed. I think nice. You know, the thing is I would say one's enough though. Because it's like so powerful that too would. I mean, if you're looking to get smashed. Yeah. Have another one, but one's enough AB again about twelve twelve. Yeah. It's pretty high. So you know, and I shared it with Clarisa. But if you're I mean, you know, these are big Belgium bottles. But if you're gonna like if you want to really get smashed just opened two bottles like you're just gonna be like the room. You're gonna have the bed. Spins your, stop it. You know, awesome..

"That was a really good scored trailer. We could we could talk about Santa design today on today's trailer two and you talk about slowing. Everything down into in up erotic piece. You know? And then everybody's in slow MO yeah. Yeah. Whereas like the brothers sisters the sound design for that wasn't anything like musical. But it was it was so well done because it was like this. I don't know like window to window storefront to storefront kind of a shootout. Yeah. Right in the dark, and all you so were muzzle flashes. Right. And then between muzzle flashes were like, you know, the director producer cards, whatever they were. And I mean that was really well done sound designed trailer all the way down to the mundane conversation that they were having exactly I don't even remember the the exact words, but I do remember it was this like the most ridiculous things you could think of talking about while you're in a shootout there in a shootout just like, well, what are we going to do when this is over? I don't know. Let's go to store and get like, a loaf of bread or whatever. Yeah. And then some of the other things that fortunately didn't stick around. And it was only in one trailer, which I'm surprised if a brought up though was done. And I'm talking to you, none. That's right. Still with where we're gonna. We're not standing at the end. If you tell us to stay till the end, you know, what though and you're going to stay to the end because you're like, okay. Why are they telling me to stay to the end? But I'm going to say the end anyway. Right. There's there's jump scares all over the place. And you know, if you don't if you don't put in the time or you don't put in the effort to stick around, then that's your that's your loss as a as a viewer. It's not the the company's loss. You know, if they put in a nice jump scare and you miss it. And if you leave, and you don't watch it, you're probably not going to go to the movies anyway to see it. Right. You know? So I mean, like there's no Lawson anyone's part, then I mean, otherwise you gained your like if you if you out early would you gain a minute of the life. You know, I mean times a something you're not going to get back, but still you don't have to tell me to watch. So overall looking back on the past year. What did you think was the worst trailer that you saw see? Now, we have to define worst. Trailer that I saw okay, I'm going to define it this way. I'm not gonna say sound or picture, just you know, you watched. And you were just like I didn't like it. You know, just raw good feeling. Like didn't do it for me. You know what I mean? So let's say what three a week times fifty one hundred and fifty trailers, we covered wral. That's a lot. That is. All right. Well, you're thinking of years you go first. Yeah. Mine was probably mortal engines, I thought it was a cool trailer in the idea that like a big cities chasing down little city like to die. I don't know when Gulf it or something. But it's like, well, how does the city wind up running around on wheels and stuff, and and maybe it's just the concept of the movie, and I didn't see the movies. So maybe it's a good movie. I don't know, but trailer wise, and I'm also talking about the teaser trailer too. Because that's the one that we covered. Yes. Generally speaking, it didn't do it for me. And I would say if I saw that and I was going to and I was thinking about going to see a movie the trailer probably would've turn me off because..

"You hanging the SOS west at the end you see the plane. I mean, it was it was intense thunder road. Oh, cool. I like thunder road one of those things another low budget need to get creative kind of trailer. And I think honorable mention was to dust. Oh, wow. That left me laughing. And I mean, it was it was like unexpected. It was unexpected. It was standalone storytelling. I don't know. It was just all around a good trailer. I thought because another low budget sort of a thing where they tell a good story. They have to be creative. You know? I don't know. Like just kind of Jewish guys crack me up. Yeah. Overall, I would say those were the ones I mean, there were a lot of good ones are a lot of bad ones. But I would say the general good trailer was a low budget trailer because again, limits spark creativity where lots and lots of money, you know, big blockbuster type things. Yeah. You just throw more money and more CGI in just make it loud. Right. You know? And I don't think that makes for a good trailer. So the other thing too. I think is if trailers have to have a trailer to the trailer then that trailer to the trailer needs to be a good one right on few occasions. There were a couple of good ones. Most. I didn't think were very guess. So, but I can't even tell you what the good ones where I don't remember. I think it was the Tom crew Tom Cruise. Yes. Mission impossible where the helicopter fuselages coming down the hill. They show it coming down the hill for that split second. And you're kind of like what the heck is that? And then they move into the trailer. The trailer. And you don't even realize until the very end what it was. I thought that was okay because it like grad yet, it's shocked you into watching. We're a bad one was a house with a clock in its walls. That was one of the early bad ones for sure. Yeah. And reject black says welcome to the house, whatever he says. And then like literally like five seconds later. He says it again, you're just like really you couldn't dear timing better. How about you? What was what were the bad ones for? Yes. So I think that is it that the troops effort to tie tropes of two thousand eighteen that we hope go away ropes for bad. Yeah. Yeah. So I think that that trailer the trailer or the bumper trailer or the t you know, the five second bumper at the top of all the trailers is definitely something that I hope goes away or trails off into oblivion and twenty nineteen. I think it starting though, it feels like it is it looks like a lot of them. It's like you're kind of like fifty fifty now some have it. Some don't you know and started to say, but there was a time that we're like every one of them had. Yeah. And I think there was that's another reason that I go straight to the source I go straight to the production companies YouTube channel because some of the trailer specific YouTube channels earlier on in the year, they were producing their own trailers the trailers and putting bumpers on the front end of all these trailers. I think when the production companies got wise to the whole idea that they don't necessarily have to do this every time or sometimes to make something stand out. They wouldn't put a trailer trailer on. So I think the you know, we we've gone from about an eighty percent. You know, eighty percent of the trailers had trailers of trailer to about, you know, a little less probably about sixty percent now feel like the haven't. So I feel like that's a trend that hopefully will continue. I do. I do think that that's the song the the rock songs that are slowed down into operatic pieces like twelve strong. Yeah. That I think is also right overdone. And I think it was great during social that work when it first got rolled out and introduced, but now it's it's a little overplayed. So I I like I like the idea of sound design, I think sound design and using real songs like bohemian rhapsody..

"That I or I guess presenting myself as as having a hot take having an opinion off of a first reaction to something. Okay. But in the marketing space in the marketing world that is what you're trying to go for in the individual that you're marketing to so I don't see it as a as a negative. I see it as a positive if you have a hot take on something if you have a visceral reaction to something that's what marketers are trying to dial into into the viewer. So, you know, while people were saying like read the article or read the hor- go before you talk about it. I will read the article, but I always give a first impression. I because I think first impressions are what you know. What is what builds the marketing world around? You know, all these marketing pieces that we talk about weekend and week out. And I think a big thing too that we can discuss is how Ted's three word review faded away. You know, I like every week. I'd ask you what you would do it. And we'd go there. And the next thing, you know, manages like faded away, you know, and like, I don't even know what happened to it. I don't even know what episode that was we just stopped it for some reason. Yeah. You know, we try we try different things. And then something stuck around. Something's didn't. Yeah. And then I think, you know, I think organically we've gone to this thing where he talked about executive notes, and I think that even without being called out as executive notes to me. That's that's the main thing that we're doing here is we're talking about what our first reaction to something to trailer. What we think works about that piece of marketing what we thinks that works is a piece of art. And then how we would either fix it or problems even without fixes. So I like all of that. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. So what was your favorite trailer of the year? See, and then I'm going to say my favorite trailer. Okay. My favorite trailer. The year was us, and I know from last week it came out last week, and we did it last week. So I know everyone's going to say recency bias is probably what what it is. But it is definitely one of my favorite trailers of the year. So they they're all very special between that one. And then the teaser for Arctic. I think those two were kind of the tops. How about you? What's your favorite? So I think my favorite I'm going to have to favorites in an honorable mention because I couldn't I couldn't parse it out. So I agree Arctic teaser trailer was definitely one of my favorites. Cool. Nothing was spoken. It was it left..

Yes. So the past year trailer wise, I don't know. I think that there was the the trailer that I didn't catch for that awful rehash re- cut of a movie that was an old movie that that I didn't I couldn't find anywhere. And then when I finally found it we had already released the show with with that made up trailer. So that to me that was the my my most depressing moment trailer moment of the year. So you called me you said you couldn't do it. Then you said you could do you cut me from the car? What's what's going on? What were you coming from? So this week, you know, traveling around we hosted a bunch of Christmas parties this week, and then my brother-in-law cleaning up his glasses thought he had picked up his glasses already and he actually picked up and glasses. That was nice hanging out with some co workers and then after work well left work early to go to arteries final JV basketball game of the season. They only play eight games in six weeks. And what was their final record their final record undefeated for a while? They're undefeated, and I and then I was like, oh you guys lost. When she has. Don't mention it on the podcast. So I took I took a break from talking about it for a couple of weeks. And then but yesterday they went up against their rival middle school, Jordan, and they beat them. So they won the last game. It's just like the two best teams players something. No. It wasn't even like the two best teams. Did just oh the best record wins. And that's it the best record winds and had the best record. Gotcha. "Yeah. No. I I agree. I agree. Yeah. I mean, it looks cute. It looks. I mean, it's on Netflix. And Clarisa think we we watched the us me we watched the trailers together. And she said, you think we should watch this one. I said, yeah. So netflix. Why not it's a Christmas movie? And then she said, you think the boys alike it, I'm like, why wouldn't they? I mean, it's like Christmas stuff, you know, Santa Claus and elves in you know, and they're trying to fix the sleigh. And the one guy got like the welding hood, you know, great that was that was one of my favorite scenes because it. Yeah. Out the timing on that was very well played. And they let it they let it breathe and that space. I'm this is my least favorite of the trailer to the trailer of what we had this week. I don't think they did a good job with it. I mean. Yeah. I don't think they needed. It was a little bit lame. I don't think they needed it, and you know agree their net flicks. And why is what are they doing? Exactly. And why is Netflix doing a trailer to the trailer? I mean, that's that's what I'm saying. Like, the primary reason why I would say is. So everybody has Netflix. You turn on Netflix. All you do all you have to do is like I hate to say mouse over because it's really not a mouse. I mean, well, if you're on a computer, I guess, but but like, but if you're the OT. On your apple TV or your your fire box or whatever it's called Roku. Yeah. Yeah. Roku and all that stuff. And all you do is click on it. You don't you? Don't you don't open it. You just like. Hover whatever over. Yeah. And it automatically starts playing that trailer. Like, do you need a trailer to the trailer one? It automatically starts playing the trailer because you're either going to watch because you're interested or you're going to just move away. You know, and I don't know. And to me the things that they're showing in this trailer trailer. It's not a hook. I guess. Yeah. I mean, Kurt Russell is is a bit of a hook. But as far as him throwing the present down, the chimney, or whatever. And the boy saying whatever he says. Yeah, it doesn't. Yeah. There's not there's not much meat to it. It's like sure you could get away with Kurt Russell just saying let's get this party started. And then just run into just go into the trailer. See that would be cool because like it's like a double entendre sort of thing. Yeah. It's the trailer to the trailer. And it's well it's getting the party started talking to the audience. Yes. Talking to the audience. It's like we're going to skip the trailer trailer because they're stupid. We're gonna get straight into it because we're in. "So did you get that out of that or you stole my first bullet? Yeah, totally. That's all right. I got. I got put it. That's why I wanted to go. I feel you're gonna say that I got plenty of bullets on what you're thinking. Six shots only five. Tooth, excitement. I kind of lost track myself in the forty four magnum the most powerful handgun in the world and would blow your head clean off this yourself. One question, do I feel lucky. Do you. But yeah. So I think first of all, of course, I went into this saying, like nobody. I mean, nobody puts ketchup on a hotdog. I literally saw Clint Eastwood new movie the meal, and it was like off pudding from the start. You know. Well, he looks old though. I mean the guy looks frail, do I want to see the mule? I wanna see this and I was like, well, we're the trail junkies. We gotta we gotta take one for the team sometimes watch stuff we don't want to watch and how many weeks do I make Jimmy watch superhero movies trailers. So so I said, let me take one for the team for once and watch this Clint Eastwood trailer. And I want to tell you that I think the was a bad though. No, I think that the trailer wasn't cut by Clint Eastwood. Make my day. Okay, I but I do so by my, my thing is that I love the idea of the opening scene playing out no trailer. The trailer opens a trunk show. Yeah, and it's a, it's a drug, you know, a DA or drug cops, trying to get check him out or whatever on the side of the road. And he's he's getting out of this jam basically. And to me, he took one from Quinton, turn, Tina. So that was bullet number two. This is this is Clint Eastwood doing his best, tearing Tino esque feel love it. He has this style of the trunk shot, which is a known Tarantino trope and and Clint Eastwood's like I got you. I could do this, you know? And I thought the same thing and it's a drug, it's a drug cartel movie, you know, like pointing the gun to the suitcase for stood already crime space, drug space. It's it's screams Tarantino all over the place. And I was like, Ken, Clint Eastwood make like a drive Chroma. Dr. I've only had coffee tonight, a crime, drama, boring? Can he slow it down so much that it's boring and at the front at the front end of this, it is kind of slow and it's methodical and it kind of flow it. It's like, ooh, can the? Can they drag this out, dragging this out and then it picks up and then the score picks up and then the music kicks in. And then Bradley Cooper starts running around and you're like, oh Bradley Cooper, he's a hot up and coming actor turned director that might win an Oscar in his first movie out, you know? So I think when you see the actors around him Bradley Cooper, Mike Opinia, they get a call from Clint Eastwood and they and they drop everything that they're doing and they're like, you don't know if you're ever going to get this call again..

"I think it was Wednesday are Tuesday or Wednesday. I had prepped our show for today and I throw in some some trailers. I was happy about the trailers that I picked. Some of them were recent. There was one that was kind of a little bit older, but I had a theme going. I was like, ooh, this is kind of a cool theme. And then. Vice came out. I think it was Wednesday of this week. Can't deny it at it. Hit me like a ton of bricks. And the song was so great and I'm like, who are these people? And they turn out to be some of my favorite actors undistinguishable. And I just said, I'm scrapping the whole the whole slate for for Friday night, and I'm putting in the new, the new trailer for vice, and then upside was another one that came across. And then yesterday the meal came in and I was like, ooh, a Clint Eastwood movie. That's a true Clint Eastwood movie soup to nuts. I was like, I got to put this in in for Jimmy, so he can make poke poke a little fun at me for for hating on Clint Eastwood movies. But yes, but what sparked it all was vice has so many things going for it. So many things that are prototypical about trailing and movie marketing that I just wanted to make sure we covered it fully. I'm glad you scrapped everything because when I finally got around to looking at trailers and stuff, and I saw is I mean like capital while while. Yeah, yeah. I mean, it was awesome. You know, I mean, the movie looks say the trailer makes the movie look amazing like Christian bale Christian bale like playing Dick Cheney. I mean, he, he even has the top. His topless shut to prove that is not wearing a fat suit it out. And he put forty or fifty pounds on for this role. You know. Could they make that could these CGI that you know? So what I do is I I, I posed a frame before they got to like the cards saying who the actors were a pause, the frame when he's talking to George Bush right? Like when Dick Cheney's targeted George Bush and they show that scene and I pause it there and I'm like, all right clerk who's the actor? And she goes, I have no idea my gimme your best guess. So then what I do is a had another head. Another tab open with with like. Maybe ten years ago. Christian bale rate? Yeah. And like who's this guy? She goes, let's Christian bale I said, okay, and I click the other taback I'm like, well, who's this guy? She goes. Don't tell me this Christian bale. And I'm like, Yup, that's Christian bale. She's like, you gotta be kidding me. Like I mean, the makeup is amazing. You know it is. It's amazing. I mean, it's not even makeup. It's just like I said, a love, love the dedication Christian bale. But Hello diabetes, you know, I'm not. I'm not making fun of diabetes, but I'm just saying like it's known. It's known that this is this is an actor issue like. Tom Hanks he's shed weight, put on weight for roles in the forecast away alone. He put on twenty pounds and lost sixty pounds trick. Christian bale lost. Went, got down to one hundred and twenty pounds for the machinist. He was skin and bones.
