Dogs like that size. Ymer egner German shepherd German shepherd. Never there's never been a German shepherd eighteen years don't feed them chicken soup and thirty s and that was must have been some some great in there. It was amazing. That's all I am. I come home from school. And you'd watch it'd be like on. Cbs there would be like A game show that he the date d they have like the very thin little microphones doing well now that I like to ask Nipsy Russell. If there was a lake that had some whoopie was always like whippings that same sex. What would that Lake be wearing? Something like that Ngong Milan. But he does some kind of Ram valid we lag wherein something went if you know what I'm saying and they'll be like ha ha and then they would have if he was and then they'd have to match. The person would have to guess what he was going to say and they wrote it down and it was wrong. You'd hear that noise. A universal sound for being wrong right like they say they agreed in all contexts. That's going to be the in Mexico's the same sound. It is the same exact sound so we'll be like an example of something like a game. Show that sound would be used for. We had a couple of good ones. We have like the good ones for kids. There's this show cello and it's an old show in poor guy. They always make fun of live. You're making what is because I've even heard that joke many times you know. What is the joke? Explain well is just. Torello has been around for a long time. Thank God you know. He's a long life and And he started his career young with the same character. The characters Chubby law is supposed to be a boy a young boy and they said that the only boy with Barak Asus does that. Funny Dance Right. No no no. That's the other Guy Kiko. No he's still alive. I think I don't know I don't know but anyway cello had a contest for kits and A game show and he had this this Lather those suspended ladders wasn't even what you have to like. Kind of like balancing them and he would ask you like. So what are you one? You once islands. Are you in noise? Interview said silence so you can get concentrated. Qb Good like all right so we're GONNA saw a lot of noise using the wartime winds money. Will you yeah when you fell? And then they also did the other one unlike ank- An and what is that one. It was more for like a musical game shows if got kicked off at like They had that This one where you can kind of Before the talent shows there was this really crappy talent show. There used to be like a real talent show. Which is like Ed Sullivan? Back in the fifties and sixties. Right and ED ran for like for years and years and years allows a variety show. And then they had like A really crappy one where they would like the Gong show and then if some guy would come out and you could be like literally like juggling spoons raking catching forks with your forehead or something and then if if you got. They'd have three goofy gene. Shalit was one of the he was like. You know one of the judges. He was like a critic. Movie critic Big Mustache us. That's what he's more famous for. Being critic was his big Bushy Amazing Mustache. She had and then if if they didn't like the person they take the. Gong this big Gong they go over to the Gong and they would like while you're still performing you're looking at them going going gone. They go. Maybe I am and then going. And then you'd hear a an an and you might. They might also just throw in just to be mean now. Well there's something similar that There was a show Several he gump. Oh Yeah of course. I'm I'm pretty sure they took from you guys do that. Sometimes you guys take your ideas. We take your idea sometimes too so in this case they have. We took your idea called. America exactly California. That was your best idea yet. Texas was that hours Generalissimo Francisco. Franco should not have hung those guys. You should let them rotten prison. At the Alamo. Nobody would have gave me shit but because he I'm they gave them an excuse to invade but anyway go on. Darling. What's this show? This is the Gong show version. Did they have a gong? No they had this guy. What is the name of the guy that Ho said? He used to the capitated people back in God thing on their hats executioner okay so they had an execute take so if you had an executioner. I mean that seems like a lot. Well if you're not a good bit of win something good before you're gonNA get executed. You lose get more than like five hundred bucks. If you'RE GONNA get your head cut off the executioner do he would have come up with. An executioner was like death was he. Like mortis was. He wasn't no actually no no no. I'm getting the big the big trumpet trumpet. Oh God I don't like your brain. Sex wasn't executioner but I don't remember he would come with that thing and dance. I or if trump at the beginning I don't remember I was a kid but he would be also like around you and then he would try to distract you when you were singing. And then he didn't think that you had a good voice he would. He would play the trumpet through through through it. Did it did it? And I'm telling you it was hysterical people. Which is there like one line in there sung. It would be like a starting their son and he was like. Oh God that was the fun the misery and people would yell like go. Really Fun Dad. Mom of that show. We would all watch it. That was the chauffeur Saturdays. Oh at night or during the day I think it was during the day but again team that we can watch their kids. Well I mean now. They have America's got talent. I know but they changed it. It's really shows used to be a lot more fun though when when like American idol American idol mirror. It was a lot more phone with people who are allowed to be mean. Make Fun of the people like the scare really thinks he can sing and he can't really say Had the time of my life and older you and then the judges go. That's amazing. Do you know any other songs. And HE GOES NO SING. That one again. I had time of my La and then it was hilarious right. Yes I think it was Rosie O'Donnell who complained and said you're just making fun of Mentally Handicapped people and she was right but there was no more fun after that and now everyone had to be like cheering for them. Like oh God I gotTa Cheer for you like Oh no no but they don't really do that as much like no no my mom. She's sick she's got to infection and it went to her brain and her I fell out And like okay this is for my mother's eyeball and everyone goes on. Yeah good for your mother's eyeball if she wins the pop it back in there or what he did. But that's all that this but you're talking about the executioner. I remember like some one of my favorite scenes in every scene blazing Saddles Mel Brooks movie. So funny but he's about to hang this guy. He's the executioner and he says and and Harvey Korman the mayor. Who is actually supposed to be gene wilder is supposed to be the mayor but gene wilder really wanted to play the Drunken Gun gunslinger which is a better role. It's a Harvey Korman and it's an amazing movie. I want to watch it but anyway so Harvest is I've got could you get can you? Can you get another killing? Can you get another hanging and the executions both hired harm completely packed? Har- possibly get somebody kill another person to next Tuesday at the earliest. So the minute shows like that kind of stuff anyway. I don't know I brought that up. Okay so going back. To Quarantine Quarantine Yeah. Expert is ending them Ex. My expertise yet is to get the sex strike. I think that would work. I think enough people say I know what I'd rather risk rather risk death than not outside. Most married couples already leaving to a sex strike. I agree with that. Okay so Our daughter Yes what we have a daughter and she had to let me remind you too. Okay when did this happen well a couple of years ago? Okay well our oldest daughter. Yes we can't go to the dentist and she's had like we've she had like a loose tooth for a long time. Yes she even named. Yes over Toys Lucy. Liu and she just refused to eat out of that side of her mouth and for how long. How long has it been like six months so six months? And then she got another coming in. It's like doesn't have the room because that one's way Yup come out. Yes so what exactly happened the other night were you and I decided this is coming up. I decided that it had to come. Then I just I was just stuck with doing the job. Yeah I actually did it. Well Yeah I usually. If you haven't noticed the pattern that you usually get an idea and then somebody has to execute the idea and then I'm the execute execute her executor executioner executioner. Okay of the idea so if I get hungry and I see something then next thing you do is sit down to the couch and then I'm in the kitchen cooking. Something great person. Thank you for that. Yeah I was wondering who was bringing me food all this time. I'm glad I found out who so anyway so I just said hey listen this has got to come out. Yes and you like kind of little surprise that you were like yeah. It's coming out now no it. It had to yeah being a longtime. The problem is like the tooth was also stuck between the other the other two. Yeah so it didn't really have a lot of room for her to push with her tongue. Yes it was literally for months and months and we needed to come out and do so what we did. Because we're good. Parents were responsible. Parents waited six months. No we watched a youtube video on how to take the because that's what a good. Yeah this where you're supposed to do. Good parenting is all about listening to remove it from your kids Matt. What did this other person who we can't? We can't sue if something goes wrong. What did they do so they? We found one video. Does the only one we watched this one. We don't need more information than one stranger one Asian stranger so she recommended she's Asian first of all. Look I'm agent? You GotTa know that like Asian people have a higher tolerance of pain so like you know. You don't have a high tolerance. Well no you're right. I don't know how many times you had hit your pinky till I don't even feel it anymore. I believe just going like I share the the hit complaining or anything anymore. You don't WanNa show you pain that okay so when we come back to a break we'll continue with the story about the tooth and and they'll tell you how we took it out. We took it out. Yeah that was a painful it was. It was kind a little scary but it cost me a night's sleep last night and I'll explain that when we come back in.

"Lawrence's diner the polar bear in Brunswick Maine hit hard times. Hope was in short supply until Mr Lawrence had an epiphany. Everyone offers brunch. Now it's like the hip new thing from New York City. That people can't get enough of but how about a meal between lunch and dinner done CH- as Mr Lawrence calls. It has been served at the polar bear every Sunday at four pm for the last month. Mister Lawrence claims four. PM is the ideal time to eat on Sunday since people do not stay up late before the work week starts and research has shown that people tend to put on the most weight when they eat late dinner on Sunday. We found no studies that prove this to be true so far. The experiment has not taken off one. Local resident said they felt uncomfortable. Instable with the word dench. It sounds like a racial epithet or an act of sexual perversion. I'm a God fearing man who has no interest in such activity so the criticism hasn't stopped Mr Lawrence though who has taking a second mortgage on his house to keep his diner and Sunday Dutch alive. I thought my wife would stop me but instead she left and took the kids. I'm fine with it more Dutch for me. The diner owner decides night's four PM Sundays. The best time.

I live in a building with a doorman. I'll order something on Amazon. I get the email that I have a package. My Doorman hands me right package and literally my first thought is. Oh somebody set me something. It's a little surprising president. It's like no. I spent my harder money on that. Like even I why do so I think that exactly easily available highly rewarding momentum to it. It's it's it's IT'S E it's an easy I mean I do deal with a law shopping addicts the one that I've patients that I've seen it's the QVC stuff yeah they just don't even open it. Just don't even think that set up I've dealt with a lot of seniors who have been scammed by somebody selling them stuff because they'll stay on the phone with them for an hour and a half would and I think. QVC is set up now. I'm GONNA offend QVC. Set up so that you feel like you have a friend in your living room. You're not lonely you got you know somebody selling you face cream and they really believe in you and I think it's literally I think the saddest a set up that way. I think that you know for my shopping addicts the for my biggest thing. Besides getting rid of stuff is create meaningful interactions actions with other humans. That aren't transactional. You know go volunteer. Get a dog or the dog part like take though they go. I have lots of friends. You know the clerks at the store. I love to shop and I'm like they're paid to make you feel that way. Is there any common background and your shopping addicts you find coming history. Yeah 'cause I it's some of the ones I've seen. They often had some very powerful emotional experience with a parent or someone they loved with reward or gift or shopping or something as a child. Yeah I mean I do I do ten. You know 'cause I have seen it a lot in people who grew up lower socioeconomic and then started to make the thing I will say that ties shopping addicts together. The thing I hear all the time is why deserved it. I worked really hard. I deserve this. This is a treat. This is a reward so maybe that ties into what you're saying saying about parents. I saw some special time about shoplifters and that was the thing that they all said like I I'm owed this. I deserve this and oftentimes. I see that with the shoppers. I worked really hard. You know I deserve a nice dress and it's You know it's that's that's a tough one. I tend to see shopping much more women than men but men are way more sentimental. What's in this was like the first baseball cap that order the first game they vary my you know my senior men are always like those? Are the tools that I used to fix my car with. I'M GONNA start to fix my car and I always fix my car that they men really look backwards to what they've accomplished I know very Sentimental way more than women by Senate. I'm I'm wondering what you mean by sentimental sort of attached to the historical historical attached to you know things from when their kids were little up so much around sports I I but I think it makes them feel tribal right that they belong to something. So it's like. That was the first game that I ever went to at the new stadium and I can't and I think get gives them a sense of belonging Yeah they'll fight tooth and nail man for so fun I now I know. I know it's really. It's really really interesting. I love working with seniors. I love senior downsizing because I've just heard so many amazing stories. I work a lot in Los Los Angeles with japanese-american dissents lots and lots who were in turned or their grandparents were in turned so I see a huge huge correlation to. I can go into a house I can say you were in really right. I can just see it in a minute. What is what is that really wasn't internal? But what did you see the I mean they tend to be Japanese descent so we start there And it's just it's a lot of costco it's a lot it's not decor it's not Chomsky's he's it's things that keep you alive so food and just shopping bags and cleaning supplies and you you know this idea. Imagine somebody came in and took away everything that was yours. I mean it makes complete sense and so when we have that conversation Shen like Oh wow right. There's the correlation. You're like you look. You came by this honestly and you said you have your doorman where you live. Yovany York no I in downtown. La Oh downtown's fancy and you're certainly surrounded by all that horning on the streets. Yeah I know it's really. The homeless. Hoarding is really intense. It's really It's a tough one. It's a really tough one. That's that's all I I don't. I don't think that the primary hoarding. I think symptom of Takada guilt. I think so I think so too. I think Just a lot. That's what it is now. Yeah that that homeless geared you guys yet baby goods absolutely not. I am actively fighting against him. My garage I declared when we moved into our home would never ever be anywhere but their storage all around it but those cars will always go it. They just have a baby. So are you ready for this Gary for every child that you introduce listen to your family you increase your possessions by thirty percent. Oh I'm sure tired I What I would say a second kid? Another thirty percents of you have three kids. You're up to ninety eighty percent late in the game so hopefully I'm done at one but I think it's I think our I think our belongings are probably fifty percent. Yeah even before he arrived with. It's all the crap that came in to get ready for it worth slowly. That was a shock to me. Staff kids came with shock. I know I know and then you don't know perjure they'll get rid uh-huh yeah there's great by the way baby. The baby is an amazing local organization. That will take all that stuff. That's fantastic especially post fires like that baby. Abi Stuff is really easy to donate. That's one of the things that I I know. That's one of the things I love to do with my clients and that I do a little bit different than a lot of people in my field is is that I work really hard to donate what can be donated to smaller organizations I work a lot with organizations that work with foster kids And what I found is if it's hard for someone to let go if they know it's going to someone who can use it so they can get outside themselves so That one that one's been that's been great. You mentioned shopping and obviously hoarding instead. Are there other kinds of behaviors. You encounter hoarding And we said no pets. We don't have people horde other stuff. Narrow narrow paper is just the one that surprises prizes. Me Over and over again and you know what my seniors I can understand it because they came from a generation. When if you lost if you lost your pink slip you know you're at the DMV for a a week but there's just a certain they're almost like their information hoarders like they're afraid they're gonna miss something like the secret to life is in that print out that they printed did from that website? It's just the paper as just people are drowning in it now. Like oh I might need that and I'm like but you would never be able to find it. There's some people have have a time scale words. They think I'm missing missing on. You know miss something. But then they'll think themselves well that's been on my desk for years. I can let it go now. You know they'll they'll they'll argue they'll they this is what they say. I save that for a reason therefore it must be like. They don't want to know that they didn't make the right decision. And I think that's a lot of it to you know I call it the stuff I keep paying for. It's like you made a bad decision. You bought a treadmill without realizing that you hate to run. But you're gonNA hang onto that you're going to punish yourself to remind yourself every day desk. Get rid of a treadmill Atmel we. I'm a little bit of a book. Quarter to junkie. I'm not kidding key. A lot of kids triples. But they're mostly out the float some inject some of children. The leftover absolutely. My wife asked me for her birthday to get everybody together and do purging the house. I have gift certificates gets in my stocking stuffer. So I've been doing this for about twelve years and I over working with thousands of clients. I found found that people all of us. We told ourselves what I call these emotional stories about our stuff and why we couldn't let go of it and it really came down to that. Everyone kind of told themselves the same step seven stories or excuses. I paid too much for it. My grandma gave it to me as she died. Did I might use it someday and I saw this theme coming up. Let's see Paid too much for it. I might use it some day. My grandma died and left it to me. it's too nice for meeting us. I'm not worth my good stuff Avoiding my stuff. I don't WanNa to open my mail or look through my paperwork Then there's also a big one that I see a lot is stuck in the past so a houseful of remnants of trophies from when your kids were little you played football or Or you strange. It's a strange connection to that passed. It's like I worked so hard to get VISS are I. Don't know how to let go of it Kinda thing well and it's also the funny thing that I've found. Is that so much of that stuff that people are hanging onto. The past are are bad memories. I just did this podcast with somebody. And he brought in Hilariously a Football Jersey. And he's like I. Should I go with it and I said well you. It doesn't have your name on. It doesn't have the team name on it and did you love playing football. And he's like no way hated it and I hated high school and I was like. Why are you keeping this? So Oh these things came up and I was like there's something here and I grew up the child of a hoarder so I have seen seen the hold that people's stuff can have on them and I. You know people kind of throw hoarding around. These days is like oh I'm such a hoarder today. Hey it's like well no it's an actual disorder but we as a country right now we are rounding and stuff. We have too much stuff so I really really would like kind of literally glimpsed into people's homes to see this attachment and that it was turning out. It's just people are starting to be owned owned by their stuff instead of their stuff owning them so I wanted to write a book. Four not only hoarders but the everyone who is struggling with their relationship attention to their stuff taking what I.
