"First half of this episode talking about the history of the women's Tour de France. And the movement to develop it into a stage race, something more comparable to what the men have been doing for decades. I'm just curious, Ashley, as you were there on Sunday, lining up for the first day of the race, what did you feel, what was going through your head? Well, it was really an incredible moment because you know, as I said, I've been around for a while and I've seen how things have changed. I've also been sort of on the forefront of advocating for change and for equality or equity is actually a better way of saying it. You know, so to finally after all those years of talking out about it in the media and really pushing for change to finally be there on the start line. So to see that change actually happened within my career was really, really special. You know, I've been trying to pick my mind or I did prep my mind to find sort of a calmness in all of the excitement because it was a really a huge moment. So yeah, I was really happy that I managed to find that balance between also racing on the shunt and this day is quite hectic. There's cobbles. It's technical. It can be quite dangerous at times. So I managed to find the perfect balance of, you know, staying safe, staying in good position, racing a good race, but also having the presence of mind to really soak it up and to enjoy the fans and to enjoy this milestone for women's cycling. And yeah, I'm continuing to do that every day. As I said, I mean, the crowds out on the road are really incredible, and I think it's also being quite cool that people often there's this Tour de France blues, you know, us two in France and people don't know what to do with their afternoons because they've been watching it and so I think we've sort of created this continuation for people to come out and watch the fun. And I was wondering if you could talk a little bit about the sort of vibe amongst the different competitors. It seems like so many of the women riding in this race have been like yourself part of the movement to create this race. I imagine there's like a sense of solidarity and yet you're also there competing against each other and I assume everyone is super competitive. So what is that blend of rivalry and sisterhood like when you're out there on the course? Yeah, I mean, again, this is a huge moment for women cycling and I think we're all kind of standing together in it. We're already seeing it. We're all just so happy to be at this point. But again, it's always about finding the balance. But at the end of the day, you know, we are colleagues and we are kind of friends or friendly with each other off the bike and then when you're racing, you know, it gets competitive. For example, today I've been racing alongside Mariana basketball many, many years. And so to see in the yellow Jersey, you know, I'm happy for her. So I write up to her, I put my hand on her back. I'm like, great job, Mariana. I think in the women's peloton, and even in the main I don't invest in the men's peloton, but within cycling, I think we get this nice balance, you know, where we encouraging and supportive and big enough to congratulate our competition, but then when it gets to the racing, it's our job and we get down to business. And last thing here, Ashley,

"So people were just as interested in watching the women race as the men. It looks like tasty and out goes to the front tasty TT takes the way to superb with drops the power up just at the right time, but it is April tasty from the drop cycling team who takes an absolutely superb win here on stage one of the virtual Tour de France. And they used that really to go and say, you know, we think there's a market here to do a real estate race and we're willing to be this big title sponsor and help make that happen. And I know that the women's tour, the Tour de France femme, is still quite a bit shorter than the men's race. What exactly is the format of this year's race? So the thing that they did was, instead of holding the course, the one day race on the last day of the men's Tour de France this year, they started the women's tour on that same day and from the same place. So the men ride into Paris for their final day and the women leave from Paris on their first day of their 8 day tour and it's a really exciting 8 days. Everyone I spoke to was really thrilled with the route and with the stages, you know, there's a lot of diversity. There's some mountain climbs, there's lots of sprints, and while those stages are still shorter than the men's and obviously it's an 8 day race instead of a 21 day race, the women are really excited to have this as an opportunity and hope that this is a starting point or maybe the next step in growing the Tour de France for women. And Maggie, what can you tell us about the first couple

The Selfishness of Lia Thomas and Transgender Athletes
"How is it reasonable that you do not care about other women, although you want to be a woman? You want to fight for women, or whatever the case may be. It just tells me that you're a selfish person. And I don't want to hear anybody say, oh, you know, Leah Thomas said that she didn't do this for selfishness. Man, Lance Armstrong said he wasn't taking drugs. They do want two of the friends I don't know how many times. The reason I'm bringing it up because the Tour de France is going on right now. He wants with a friends I don't know how many times 5 6 times that's almost impossible to do. And then he beat everybody over the head and said he wasn't taking drugs. Everybody knew him and everybody on his team and every other top cyclist is probably doping. He just get dope better. And he just demolished the emotions of people who would challenge him and he knew the whole time he was cheating. Same thing with Lil Thomas. That man knows the whole time that he's just doing what he's doing and this is my opinion that he's doing what he is doing to win.

When Egregious Injustice Occurs, You Can't Just 'Move On'
"In the last segment, I talked about how the Supreme Court might be taking the view that one can't do very much about the past election, but the court might take steps to tighten up the process, bring it more in line with the constitution for the 2024 election. But I think that we shouldn't take the view that 2020 is in the rearview mirror and that somehow this is something that we need to quote move on from. Yes, in the end, we do have to move on, but I think we don't want to move on without some reckoning of what happened in 2020. And I came to this view really not initially, but after I did all the work I did both to do the movie 2000 meals and the accompanying book, which by the way comes out at the end of August, you can pre order it now on Amazon, it's called well. You guessed it. 2000 meals, but there's a little tag that says the full story why because there's going to be more in the book than there was in the movie. Now, initially when I began work, went through the vote, Debbie and I did. I took the view that look, we want to make a movie that's going to tell the truth, about 2020, and we want to try to fix things in the future, but it never crossed my mind that we want to do anything about 2020 itself. And yet, the more I dug into it, the more I realized, well, if a grievous injustice has been done, then you can't simply quote move on. Think about I mentioned this example other times the Tour de France. If Lance Armstrong cheated 7 or 8 times to win, she did during the Olympics. Well, I mean, don't you take away the guy's medals? You just say, let's fix the Tour de France for the next round, so it doesn't happen again, let line scores have his glory. No, we want to deprive him of the fruit of the cheating.

"And this guy saved the tour de france for eighty two are because they were nowhere. These guys nowhere but man for a french for the french team to have a guy who finished fourth in the door. It's that's that's just amazing. You know they were sure they're happy although it's not a french writer but still amazing performance of ben o'connor instead of twenty five years old twenty five twenty six but but you know i mean. He's obviously comes from A smaller team. I think he was on. He was i mentioned data. I think four. And then before that. I think he was on a smaller team somewhere. Obviously a guy who these australian guys who come over to europe and they they want it so bad you know. It's it's to come from the other side of the world the race in europe and make it your lifestyle. They don't do this just for fun they want. And then o'connor is one of those guys. I think and i know we've already spent some some time on on jumbo vizma and their amazing to her but we do need to spend a little more time on the jonas vanguard rising to the occasion when everything fell apart. And wow. we're going to see a lot more of this kid are we not. What's the what's the what's the name. The name of the actor remember from the get from home alone. What's macaulay culkin yes. He's an adult personal. I mean is there. they're twins they're twins have look at a picture next to each other. They're twins but but man it's yeah next year of course and listen next year. The tour de france starts in copenhagen in denmark So that will be. Obviously you know a huge motivation for him now. Of course you know medicine. He still needs you know he came into this position. Circumstances of course you know he needs to do to needs to do. The work needs needs to push the pedals and be up there. Every single time We'll see how he can confirm that. But this is definitely a writer who still in full development gets. The experience now gets the confidence if he gets now the confidence of his team and can deal with the pressure. I understand that has been an issue in the past for him then jehovah's roughage and vanguard together and i have absolutely no reason to believe that those those guys cannot work together on the contrary. That's that's a dangerous combination and that's what we need in the future due to the rival with the guy like picacho. Yeah those throw into it and other line for american. Cycling was sept- koos. Yeah also a great writer in support of those two guys and support of the team. Always i thinking about the team about his leaders and then when he gets the opportunity he did it already in the douro spain. didn't fini last year when when On the last day in now you know grabs his chance again. Winning a stage in the tour de france is not easy and and especially winning amount to stage like he did in on. Dora was also you know a dream scenario for him you know. He lives their family. Was there This is a writer. I mean. I was a bit worried in the beginning for him because he didn't seem like he was a one hundred. Percents in top shape may have been if you rashes also at the beginning but But man he came back and then after he won that stage he did. He still did an amazing job for for having art in the mountains so Definitely a guy who confirms again his qualities and is one of the appliances of the pentagon. I mean great. Great victory for him and last but not least the man who got no attention today today. Gotcha the storyline was just too big. And then you go. Oh yeah by the way the second difference especially when you have this normally you have the last in paris and you know it's a sprinter was gonna win. Okay you know whatever this guy or this guy wins the super happy but you know attention on the but there was just too much excitement about this. There was too much excitement about this. Cavendish gonna do. It is going to break the record at merck being there. probably i guess And so yeah. I mean Than wealth impossible thing winning streak completely different stage. Just yeah by the way. They are just won his second bronze in a row at twenty two years old mind. What a guy. Winning winning the doodle avenir in two thousand eighteen then turned professional two thousand nineteen doodle avenir and a bunch of other racists. Turns professional two thousand nine hundred ninety straightaway. His first stage rates went stays race. He he wins it then. At the end of the season third in the door of spain i was once stood in spain. And that's the highlight of my career. I'm so proud. That was on the podium of overground tour. I mean this guy is a new professional get stirred the doors bain and then goes on and wins through of the franz in a row. You know he did three grand tours and he was on the podium by the way one to franz. Yeah i mean what to say you know. It's sees.

"The way but but yeah none of under pool story was was was also like a dream scenario this this tour de france. It's like the perfect stories like you. Have you have vulgar pool. Okay philippi no. He's he's a glass rider. World champion that i first stage was gonna be was going to be difficult for anybody to beat them. But then this hyped up story. Basically a funder pool wanting to win yellow for his grandfather. door was most loved French cyclist in france ever. He does it in a in a way that basically everybody thought it was suicides. Though i mean if if i think back on that stage in meal the donya when he went with one lap to go he needed to absolutely get the that those eight seconds. And then you know i would. I would think well. Now he spent you know he's gonna. He's not going to have that extra little thing to win the stage and get the allegations again. And he did it. So that was that was unbelievable. The story of matthew vomited pool. Who stayed for such a long time in yellow and everybody expected at least for him to lose the jersey in the time-trial and he didn't he kept the jersey in the time which was amazing. Then and then we You know cavendish is back. You know it wasn't just today. I hope he leaves happy. He has his said what an incredible back. If he doesn't leave happy then no he must be happy. Of course you know real champions winners. They always want to win and he you know he. He has already forgotten about his first and the second victory in his victory. It.

"Gets to wins vinegar on the podium and down to four riders. They have to be up there That came on instagram from canto boy Definitely four riders in such a successful tour. That's that's incredible. There's you know. There's no. I as far as i can remember. There's one one team that comes up in my mind right now that it's a long time ago i think it was certainly in eighty nine When when greg lemond wanted to her in eighty nine. I think it was the second second time he won the tour and he was on a team called agr a belgian theme and they finished with four riders and they won the tour de france. I don't know how many stage wins. But obviously he he he He won the last time travel. He won Another another mountain stage Maybe he wanted to a three stages but he won the whole thing with three teammates left. So i think that's But it's very it's rare. It's rare you know Obviously listen i mean the ford guys that are left Varta vinca gar tip cousteau street in those are those are good writers. Lets you know if finger is not up there in dc The way he was was was writing. Now he would. He would also have one stage a mountain stage if he wasn't up there in the podium if he was six or seven or eight with a mountain stage so but anyway you know second second in the overall in an especially what i find most remarkable ended marble is that they finished second in the tour less than three stages after losing leader because they went through the tour to win the tour with raj. That's the most amazing thing. Very impressive i watched on socials sept- coups toasting the team after he got his stage win. It's it's a. It's a powerful thing to watch. Those guys are are tight. Yeah you know the pros. Listen they're there and they they do their job and Obviously if you're there in in in the case of seppuku for example I think you know stage was was was amazing but probably you know if if rog which would have been on the on the team and in in a position of trying to win he would probably not have had that opportunity to go in. The breakaway would have probably had to set up a fast temple to try and attack of on the last climb. So you know some some some bad things sometimes bring some good things all right. We're going to wrap this up for today. One more show tomorrow. One last chance to Either give your comments feedback to johann There's some nice messages people. People are really enjoying this. This show if you just want to send a comment you can do that too. And if there's any last minute questions this is your probably your last year last chance today. send those to j. b. squared. That's j. b. to add we do dot team and we'll get together one more time tomorrow. Johan d'amato is shawls easy. That's that's not. That's another thing when when you know when the riders I mean already. They've done it already for sure but tomorrow this famous the famous french song. It's like a tune you know and the tomorrow they all sing. It's like oh shells easy a and they all sing that at certain point So yeah i mean the moro is a celebration and then and then race and then another celebration and a little heads up. It's going to be coming out a little bit later tomorrow. On the last day in paris they tried to time out with sunsetting a behind paris right for the backdrop so a little bit later. "Dot com slash the move and their flow code. And yes the flow code is green. I i don't really care about this stage into paris. Who wins i. Don't you know it's it's mostly a sprint. I don't really care. But i care about tomorrow. This is a big deal. Oh you normally don't care it's it's just a it's just another sprint. This is historic. And i want people to really be aware that this is we think about you. We won't be alive to see this record. Broken thing about that. Yeah we're definitely blessed to see the potential of the record being broken and the anticipation of it tomorrow is going to be a super exciting We all love. Cav craig guy. We saw him getting a little bit emotional. Usa say that's not him. That's just the pressure mountain up on him the whole world. The whole world is on him for tomorrow. He's got to put that out of his head man. He knows that was straight pressure and he was cracking he made. He made an ice comment on social media and apologized and now This is the day and age we live in. All this stuff is captured. And he didn't obviously he doesn't know that people are in by the way there were multiple camera angles and this so we capture everything he got he got caught on it but he fessed up. And but the pressures real yeah. That's stuff happens inside the bus all the time i mean we. We've seen it all day long. All of our teams and you know three weeks into the tour de france emotions running high especially for somebody who's got so much on the line. One of our listeners made an interesting point about cabinet. Let's they sit. Hypothetically he doesn't win tomorrow on the last stage he's going year-by-year with contract for a a sponsor. What is he worth for next year to show up. No much really doesn't break it tomorrow. It doesn't break. It did not the anticipation of happening next year. No it's all on the line. Now it's all on the line and you know what in lefavor is not gonna play that game. Yeah in the favors already signed some big sprinters. So i don't think it's done deal. He staying there as much as he would probably like to. But it's going to cost a lot of money to keep them. We set at two weeks ago. He has to stay on that the for him to be as good as he is. This year i mean it is lefavor rehab stay there and and and i don't know that he stays there next year so that all gets us to the space of he has to do it tomorrow. It's got to do tomorrow. But let's let's be real. He needs to There's other people that will want him to stay on. Except for instance specialized gonna want him to say there. I'm sure they'll pony up if a little extra bill if it comes down to that as george said to me this morning wind tomorrow. That's the best mic drp. Absolute hang up the amazing amazing. I don't see it happening. But that would be the best mic drop ever. What are you retire. you mean. he's he's loving it right. he's loving. he's he's back in love with the sport. You know with everything going on and i don't see him stopping after tomorrow. Even if wins. Damn i wonder what it's like to break records on the Zeh anyways we have updates to from vare. Apparently this is the last day. So this is an. We're getting videos from people. Were getting photos. We.

"Wrong with the steer tube there steering. Oh so those who are listening to the audio podcast. He was getting on his bike outside the bus. Something was loose probably in the headset and he started slamming it down and handed it to his mechanic gesture walking off them. Low not happy not happy. This and i mean these look. Everybody's tired not just the writers these these mechanics. They were the they stay up. They'll they'll stay up as long as they have to stay up you know. and so. that's his guy right there. That's his mechanic and he believe me. There's a lot of pressure on on him. There's a ton of pressure on them. No doubt that's he's He although he is super super meticulous about his by position as clearly position. everything has to be perfectly dialed. And i'm just guessing here. But i'm sure that something went wrong with by today before you ask the mechanics to fix it went to signing this morning. And he's still had the same issue on then you know kind of had a blown up but i guarantee you. He went and apologized. Susan mechanic either right before the start of the razor. After the race he was hey. I had a smile on his face when he crossed the finish line. Came across with with alpha. Lebron seemed in good spirits. But he's going to have a chill day tomorrow but man then tomorrow night you know. I'm i'm sure everybody on the entire crew all levels. Just learn to not take it personally because emotions run high and if they're winning if you're on one of these teams that you just rattled through that had zero results i imagine there's some eruptions in their team. The thing about it is here. We're living twenty twenty one and You know the moments like that are captured. I thought it was important to show that moment not to sort of point out his his frustration. But just a really point out that this is pressure and this is the most pressure. He's probably ever felt in his entire career. But to your point. Jv of these other teams like nobody standing around filming them with their iphone like but that's we capture those moments and yeah inside the team bus. I'm sure those. Imagine their party in pairs were on inside. That's not a fun. Way to end toward france without a stage when no we have another fun slide because we were talking about charge yesterday and just our concern. About how and it really. It goes deeper and deeper about just the french public. And how they appreciate certain certain people and then don't appreciate others or critical of others or question others Somebody sent us a fun. Slide this is. I love you i love you. People just amazing this shit that comes in here here you have pogo chart straight into the slide from scarface. He says you need people like me. So you can point your fucking fingers and say that's the bad guys actual quote. Perhaps they got a little fun audio clip that came in. You know we gotta. Man is iraq. Dude i say much longer you gonna play. He says four more years looking at you. You should play forty more years. Your throat might be hurting too because we were up late watching the mcgregor we did. Yeah jabe me. Rent that damn thing and i had i had it rented before because i i don't like you see i'm not. I'm not a fan so to speak. I don't watch it. But i watched the other fight. We're poor and mcgregor fun. I just i part of me enjoyed watching mcgregor. Get his ass kicked. And i end so i wanted to watch the rematch and i was pretty sure that was gonna win again. But it was a man. What a what an event you know. I did the that thing that happened with the leg. Now dude they don't show that normally you brought it up last night. If it's you know on mainstream tv or network tv they don't try to cut away as possible but when you're this paper shit they show they don't they just keep showing. What's funny watching that. Is you to cringing over broken bone. How many broken bones or they're just in the tour so far this year this year's been rough. I mean cycling. The broken bones is like the norm. And you guys just couldn't handle watching it but they rarely show like show about when this happens. I don't understand either why they were booing. We're in las vegas. You have an american fighting an irishman. Unless that many irish fans fly over. I didn't i didn't understand that i didn't like it at all. Yeah isn't he from. Where's he from south somewhere. He fights out of florida but he's from louisiana. I mean he was. He was full of pissing. Vinegar in that post fight interview interview to and mcgregor on the ground just talking shit that my favorite moment mcgee mcgregor's on the ground joe rogan. Who i love just lays down on the mat to interview him like that was a good move. Joe yeah anyways. We're not having. We're not doing a ufc podcast today. But in georgia's fighting so hard not to pull up tennis it's over. It's over deductive. It's for dessert. Spoiler alert or the joker. Let's just say joker jacques. Excuse me this is wimbledon. And his name is for. That weren't part of the show. I was glued to my pad watching it. And i got in trouble by. Because he's like let's start the show. Let's get it going but it was really interesting. Yeah hey that guy's a beast. He's that's an athlete. I'll give you that time. We are getting a lot of emails about next year's women's tour de france. Yes it's on our radar travis. Finally finally they. There was one a long long time ago and then they stopped doing it. I mean hello. Twenty twenty one. Give the women. Their own tour de france and the women's jiro has has wrapped. Yep yep it's it's time. I'm gonna mess this one of course as well and abandoned bragan has won. The women zero pretty awesome result for her. Yeah and I believe they didn't the american. Didn't you the final stage stage stage classification. I thought i thought i read that. Yes okay anyways. Yeah it's about time and kudos to swift for coming in and title sponsoring that good. Move on their part. They're going back to today's stage also in the tour. We lost both in haagen out of the time limit. He look good psycho. Something was definitely going on with him when the thing about him he looks like butter. This is one of the smoothest guys when they showed him like. It didn't even look like him and he didn't. He looked something was wrong with him. I mean stomach issues just looked bad was very uncomfortable. In the bike. Got sent home. Emaar stars aligning for cabinet. More more good news from our cavendish's nassar bow hunting and it must've been good a good day for cavendish because they never put a camera on him to see if he was. He's finished. I think under twenty five minutes behind the group. He was still there with three climbs ago. Like i keep mentioning. He's on the form of his life. And i don't think we're seeing him. Go anywhere until we get the paris. Yeah i think i'm starting to believe you. The the reason they don't show cavendish back there is because we got a lot of questions. We had a large group downstairs in the living room watching the stage today but they just kept showing martin and they're like why are we. Why are we still watching this guy. Because he's french so the french this is their feet. We all pull from that whether you're german. Tv american dvd. You're pulling from their feet so you don't you get what they want to stream. So that's that's well drives me crazy. You got all fired up about it but the best part for me was that you were wondering why would the quickstep rider held gail martine. Like what the hell is this guy doing what. Why why right for him. My answer was like maybe they're friends he. This was on comprehensible to having a friend in the peleton. That may want to help you. Know what what what does that mean. How's it possible. Perhaps french a little bit of love. What else what are we gonna do now. Gratitude list. I mean come on you gonna walk in the little thing..

"I'm not personally i. I'd like to see vanguard have a great day. And just that's obviously the guy has to fear the most from what we've seen until now know also because he's a good time is he was third in the first time trial and i know this is a guy who's now they're Property didn't expect to be there in this position. Although i've read somewhere that's not confirmed. But i read somewhere that on the training camp before the tour de france altitude that on the last few days or at least the last test they did vanguard at better numbers than rutledge which is which is. Obviously you know an indication of how good is. We'll mental mentally. He's sitting there with. He's already had agreed tour. Yeah he already in. He has everything to gain and nothing to lose. Yeah definitely that has to work in his favour. I mean you know if he can normally if if everything that we've seen until now is respected. Vinegar should finish. Second right and probably. That's more that he could have dreamed of. And and especially you. I think he also one of his skulls will be. You will want to try to win a stage so i'm not excluding scenario. Where in one of those mountain stages both vanguard ample char getaway together the two strongest climbers. Gotcha just defending is jersey and will allow thing guard to win. The stage doesn't doesn't care if he wins a stage or not. Least that would be my my might. I mean my conclusion. Maybe he does. You know the other day. I saw him sprint for fourth. It's it it's po- gotcha are for the second year burn. All we'd see it. He's always in the youngest rider. Jersey just doesn't seem to have the significance at us to lower the age. I mean what are we gonna see now. Nineteen year olds toured france. I mean that's that's the answer is no but you wouldn't ever expected to see this many. It's it's you know it was generally thought of historically thought of as kind of an older man's game he'd come into your prime it. What twenty seven. Thirty s thirty. Yeah late twenties early thirties. I mean look. It's a different game. I don't know but it's fun to watch so well there. "We'll take a look at tomorrow here in a second but of of the guys that that lost a lot of time i mean i mean what are what are they gotta do to get back in the game. What is any abdou allah flee. We still don't see on all the way to paris but still you know what is gareth. Thomas gotta do what is to go to do. Yeah well i mean you know. It's from today on different. Kind of to france starts you know even if even if they your didn't they yellow he is and will be considered by the whole tone as the virtual leader of the tour de france. Defending champion as dominated. You know the first time trial has shown that these in great shape and that he's here to win so all the responsibility of the next stages answered situations that will happen during the stages will be on him and his team. That's a big difference. Compared to last year last year they both got child. Was you know it was. He was up there all the time but at no moment that his steam after take control of the race they took care of bugatchi and always make sure that he was a safest possible protected but never took care of the ray situation. This is a big difference this year. He's the big favourite last year. He was not so obviously. The teams who right now are in a situation that they're behind. They have to take advantage of that. Say okay this is basically. This is a new e against everybody else. That's the situation that the other teams should try to create by sometimes gambling in in stages. In sometimes there's a breakaway going sometimes large breakaway And there's a guy in there who three or four minutes down or five minutes down and if it's a big breakaway of file fifteen riders strong riders. That's difficult to control with one team so the other teams will have to gamble and say okay. Listen okay. the guy's dangerous for us do but we don't care we wanna win so if you wanna win you'll bring that break back and so that's that's going to be the interesting part to watch now from now on. It's what what will happen with that kind of theory. And who will find allies. You know the allies hap- they happened normally happen naturally You will find allies at some point because you know if if everything goes as expected or that we think it will happen that normally after the first mountain stage bugatchi should be in yellow from then on. There's already some separation and other interests come into the play. The podium up five ten the teams classification the classification. No because that's going to be blocher anyway. So but all these things will become factor strategically and then on the other hand. I think you know do. The two main rivals are in los and jubal visa ideally. I mean i'm not saying that they have to do that but you know i think i think it will happen at some point. If they're into win they will have to work together against char against you. That's yeah that was gonna be my next question alliances with them and if you talk about not waiting till the last cl- absolutely not it'll be an in an i. Guess what would be ideal. Is that these teams are working together and he's getting attacked and defending on multiple times from the federal. It's about trying to it's simple you know it's it's it's adding up. You know the the tour de france and every big stage race. it's race race that bit by bit getting more and more tired than the guy who recovers best and his team is at the end.

"Our radar went up a little bit the year. When do okay directly directly. After the first year immediately aso said god that was amazing. It was worth it. What a great idea. We already reserved for next year. We're doing it again and we thought well okay but now it should be two to three days minimum. You know they didn't. They didn't stick to their plan but their idea was. We just wanna do it again. Another year just like this year. We're okay And then it was the third or fourth year. They added the second stage which was a time trial. I believe rate and then i believe they moved it to the mountains. I might have that backward but by the time it be it was the fourth year and they had moved the course. This was a tactic. I like to refer to as shape shifting. They wanted us to believe that they were being progressive. Like oh we're going to move the race to the mountains but it's not it's not progressive. It still one day. It's just moving location. They're just shape shifting. There's no real progress happening here. Then it really became. It went from hopeful to disappointing that they were failing their agreement of adding the days that they had once promised and of course those were verbal promises so they didn't feel that they had any anything to lose you know and they were doing it their way so a lot of people say well. This doesn't make sense if the finances are proving that the return of investment is happening if the athletes are loving the event and the the fans are loving the events than. What's the problem and the answer truly comes down to. They're just choosing not to invest in the women at that point and they're creating a culture of tokenism where we have one day that's enough and that's that's where it really became something where i do believe we should always celebrate having law course because it means Everything about our platform was that we need a women's race at the tour de france. That has the name tour. France because when it was cut back in nineteen eighty nine. Aso kept the rights to the name tour de france. There were people who tried to say okay. Fine we'll just set up our own women's tournaments and they said no you won't you can't have the name it's our name and that's kind of what you know behind the scenes. What made it so difficult for. The women's race to succeed was that they had to call it. Something else inhabited different time and zero press interest so long story short yup. I think that the biggest win is that la course by tour to france. you know. that's it's full name and having the tour de france huge. So i'm hopeful that the name for women. The tour next year will be Women's tour de france or women's tour seminarian. Whatever it is but it had the same name will come as partly the the name they registered with the guy i wondered. What what do you think about this development. I mean it's an eight day race. i'm sure you know popping open the champagne but but dc. This is just another step in the journey that this is almost legacy of the success of likud. It's taken them a while to get here but we're here now. We'll we'll we'll we'll be there next year. Yes okay. i do consider this a very big success that we have this eight day race coming in from what i understand. Luck horse is also being kept Smart i went public in the media saying it needs to be kept almost as an advertisement for what's coming next. You know If it's going to be in the middle of the tour de france what a perfect strategy to be like. Here's this one day race. And guess what the you know. The women's charter francis coming next week etcetera. So it's a it's a smart idea to keep law course as is and then add onto the women's tour so where i'm going with this yes. I'm thrilled that a new eight day stage race will be introduced however it has taken nearly eight years to bring eight days to fruition and we are still missing two more weeks of in terms of race days. I think the most important juncture is that we say wonderful congratulations. We now have a women's race but also add that and aso. When will you be adding to these eight days and is the biggest and best question that we can use activism. We should be thankful for the progress. That's been made what we must be visual vigilance. That the progress continues on finally concert. And you said you want to be there for the first running of the seizures. I guess you you'll you'll be. They're feeling pretty excited than and although there's a way to go satisfied the this this amount of progress has been made. I very much want to be there. I love the possibility of being brought on as a commentator that would give me a lot of joy to the able to actually give voice to the race especially since i know so many of these athletes and for those who i know personally i also follow their career so that would give me amazing joy to be able to be on hand to give a voice to the race And if not a voice then there in some physical capacity to interact with the companies the sponsors and the fans to let them know that they've done right thing.

You know that you get from normal soviet blow a little bit drier and just a little bit more approachable. I think you know almost textual really as well. So yeah i mean well. These guys have they. They have a website. I say fair approach is certainly a little more dynamic in their approach. Do things a little bit more differently because like ken. well greg. At that point the tower will be almost over that is going to be the decisive time-trial lee boon to santa million. But just before we leave budo and go back to price. You can indulge me for a second. Because i've got budo wine related question. I'm i don't Unfortunately the resources to really collect expensive. But i do have one very expensive. One needs to be drunk is nine thousand. Nine hundred five chateau decamp. Very famous is the most famous sweet one in the world so turn which is Budo just outside budo. And what should i do with this. One thousand nine hundred five dekom greg. Four griva and traditionally so turn is drunk with four gross. Should i drink that night Well it's obviously you know. The fog wire is the only thing you know in terms of a lot of people. Drink it as a dessert wine. We'll have it then. Deserts i'm stuck least you could just as the desert can drink it straight from the bottle as the dessert course of is. That's something that ozzy might that was. That was what we used to regardless dessert because we none of us were a big fan of desserts. Precise so we just right. Let's just have a glass of dessert wine and have it with us. I would say soft cheese a less. Now we're told you're not gonna work with mean equally. The great thing about sort of chinese is quite forgivable. And you can. Is it a long time. We generally sail quantity the sole turn in the cooler months especially around christmas way instead of actually having with desert have as desert if that makes sense but you basically have that sort of by with a little bit of cheeses is having an counterweight really well and you know i actually would would prefer something arkansas tone. We the cheese board. To be honest that i would necessarily for was something else because again it's got these city that cut through the facts. That are fogel. I would have equally. It's got me that student to your cut through the chiefs. Well in in three and a half weeks time greg. i'll be the guideline prostrate on the sean cillizza in an empty bottle of chateau de cam. rolling down the road. You don't have the time bombs not taking on that one. That is excellent. I think i think greg identity. How abreast you all of the runners and riders at the tour de france. I think my bottle of decamp is is probably old definitely older than the guy who's going to win the tour de france. I'm any thoughts from you. Rogue lynch po. Gotcha it's a must admit. Aides frenchman surely due to win this year. Do you think. I think is precious little. Hope of that really. I think there's more there's more chance of me being able to afford a case of the cam that a frenchman winning who was the last year came close a couple years ago. Tibo pena you should remember that one in there was a guy firebrand philippe. Yeah hopefully. I'll affiliate now. He's very much here. And go for the yellow jersey on the first stage but Very much salsa. Some is highly to be slovenian. The winner i mean do you think do you think team any also come through it. Come to the fore the shape within the what do you think. They spent spent their The energy on the jira. I'm not paid to give opinions. Greg extract them. And but we'll we'll see what happens of definitely. Don't mean not always amuses me somewhere around but still. I usually a fridge mental. Be near the front of the line. Anyway well greg. "'em you know. They're having these rumors of by bennett combined to bore hands grow. There's a lot of bad blood between rav. Thank the the manager at boron grow. And patrick lefevere is at par products mission here. Is it just lefevere speaking minds. Is there a twinkling is is is sometimes. Just think so. Here's the thing with lefevere. Isn't it rich. And i never quite know whether it's intentional mischief-making i mean in this case. Pretty pretty unkind to somebody even slender. So i would say he's. He's suggesting the somebody might be lying or is it simply that particular favorite is one of those people who win speaking to journalists. Can't help but be honest and speak his mind and say exactly what he thinks. There's a there's another element to it. Which is the i think. And i'm not alone in this. I think you'd agree with me rich to patrick. Lefevere enjoy stirring the pot and he enjoys just sort of dropping dropping a grenade and running for cover and seeing what damage it does. I don't think he cares about the consequences of his remarks. You know he. The jiro he he came through. The few times didn't end. There was nothing all at contentious at the time but he he certainly quite enjoys seeing controversial things. There's no no question but but certainly these comments are reputation damaging aren't they they they they they certainly don't do some bennett. Any favors a toll to speak about that To speed like about one of your own writers who still under contract with team of course is pretty bad. It also doesn't i think. Do mark cavendish favors. The implication is that he's been selected m almost under duress or certainly as a second choice and that doesn't do him any favors. Although the the team made kwa of his selection m you know philippe heller star in the team. Of course Yes it's a his comments today probably do cross a line. They certainly do cross align and they've overshadowed the news of mark kaunda's return to the tour which on the other hand people are very excited by. I mean going by tour is a great story isn't it. I mean incredible story and it's a phenomenal turnaround from what a few months ago and even my couple of years funnily enough i remember one of his lowest moments when mark have english was still a dimension. Data was really in the doldrums and not being paid for racist. He was in york and he was training with none other than michael who was also there. And he was a quickstep rider at the time but Yeah and now of course. Molko the best general admission. The best lead outrider in the world will be leading to shower the tour de france and there are so many sort of symbolic. The french cook clan little winks. I'm tools combination his and his history and his heritage in. You know everything that. He's achieved in the tour de france for example the and the stage finishing fougere way one for quickstep few years ago. There's the stage shot to rule when he claimed that momentous first stage win in two thousand eight which as far as i'm concerned and a lot of other people sort of opened the more open the blazed the trail for all of the british right that came later and even bradley wiggins winning the tour. You know i think you kind of the the seed was planted there and your name as well. We're going to comedy. She's also one so as far as the poetry of the whole thing is concerned you. You couldn't really get a better script. Could you and. I know so phenomenal phenomenal achievement. By cavendish having been written off to the extent that he was but also i will just highlight the role of. I mean to be honest. The the role of favoring in in reviving resuscitating some of that lost fragile confidence and also is new. Coach vassilis anastassopulos the greek coach. We spoke to earlier in the year. Who it's a sort of well. He's overhaul finishes training's got him focusing again on what he does best. Which is sprinting foster. The end of races and not so much on trying to become a better around writer but Yeah what a what a a narrative story for the first week we didn't we lost week. Which about the fact. That one unfortunate thing. The one caveat to this is the he's going to have to wait quite a long time to get his first opportunity stage three and there. Aren't that many chances in the first week. I'm so it's going to be tough. But he showed the tour belgium that if he's not the fastest he's going to be in the mix thing particularly with that leader train with more co and also you guys like is green in there. He's gonna have a fantastic. He's gonna have a.

He finished the welte right so he should be get through. And isn't it the first of a five year deal like you gotta fight to stay relevant to you. Know to pay off on that deal. Yeah you not. Seeing to phys deal. There is no way j. b. he can can finish that contract.
