So I didn't feel the need to run it. This happened in baseball last year with the Tampa Bay Rays. There were 5 members of the Tampa Bay race who wouldn't wear a patch supporting gay rights. And Major League Baseball didn't do much. It was a story for a little bit. John tortorella, you know, many years ago when racial injustice and the psilocybin when Colin Kaepernick first started kneeling during national anthem said anyone who does that on my team is going to sit. And he has a son who's an army ranger. So it's not like toward around in the past hasn't spoken on sensitive issues. The theme from the National Hockey League is hockey is for everyone, okay? The theme is not hockey's for everyone dot, dot, dot, unless you don't believe in gay rights, then do whatever you want. If the national Hockey League's gonna do this, if any league is gonna do this, do it properly or reevaluate what you're doing. Because there's not a lot of repercussions and I'm seeing from any league. Now it could change with the NHL. Could change with NHL. I think you find the flyers a $1 million for this. I'm not kidding. Figure this out. Stop defending people on nights where it's not about that. It's supposed to be about inclusivity. The National Hockey League need to attack this and figure this out. Because what I heard last night was offensive and didn't make any sense because, for instance, if that was a military night, okay? Right. If anyone in Canada or in the states on a military appreciation night wouldn't wear a Jersey pregame, do you have any idea the uproar that would have happened on that? Do you have any idea the backlash? Do you have any idea what happened on social media? It's ridiculous. It was just a minute ago. We were talking about the uproar that was happening with FIFA fever, where if you were seen with so much as rainbow anywhere, you had to fear for your life imprisonment or death. Seriously. And now here we are. I just think the NHL has to do something here. This is not good enough. This is not good enough. Hockey is for everyone dot dot dot unless unless you don't agree with gay rights is not the phrasing of this. You're either in this or you're not. And one last point, nothing scares me more than any human being who says, I'm not doing this because of my religious beliefs, because when you looked at people's lives, you normally say that publicly, you throw up at what you saw. You would throw up at what you saw. And I've seen that a million times and a lot of different ways. So nope, don't give me that. With respect, don't give me that because no one's perfect. All right? Don't tell me, don't feed me the religious beliefs line. And all of a sudden the NHL is going to back off this. The National Hockey League today needs to find that organization a $1 million of reevaluate how they support gay rights. Because that is insulting. That is the number one trending topic in Canada. That is insulting what happened in Philadelphia. And if the NHL serious about this, they say they are. We'll see. We'll see how serious they are today. But that whole thing was mishandled and I part of me couldn't believe it. Part of me could consider how the NHL sometimes handles things. And it's too important, and that's why you're continuing to talk about it because you're not just going to brush it under there. Well said D all right, that's a guy named sig Sid sex ario. "A is probably thrilled to be going to the all star. Anyway. Torta raud has ripped the all started. I don't care. It's not think about this weekend. I don't care. I don't care. I don't care. You know, first of all, let me get your response to that. Does it matter to you? Does he need to be more respectful of the game of the players involved of the spectacle recognition? This isn't for you, John, the system for you. This is for the fans and it's for the league. So I'm going to stop there, let you answer, and then I've got to follow up that is league related. I think every coach could care less about the All-Star Game and who's going to them, it's more of a pain in the rear end than anything else. There's a different there's always a different way to answer a question. I mean, like he could say, I don't really care, but it's good for the players and the fans seem to like it, and the corporate sponsors seem to like it. Like that, that would be the easier way, not the John towards way of answering the question, but it would be the easy way to answer the question. But the coaches and the managers, they don't care. They're like, what does it matter to them? It's a couple of days off. And you hate it if your team's going well because you don't want to lose any momentum and you just don't, it's a non factor really to most people. Like that aren't going. If you're not going, you just look at it as a day off. A couple of days off. Yeah, exactly. Yeah. Well, look, the NHL wasn't happy with this comment. And in fairness to towards, it was at the end of his availability. He answered, you know, he brushed it off and then he walked away. So the NHL reaches out to John, come on, like this is a major event, you know, it's for the fans. It's for the sponsors. It's for the players. He apologized. So it feels like it should be end of story there. But tell me what you think about Philadelphia, right? I'm looking at the Philadelphia flyers. And I just don't see it. I see that they've got some good players, Carter Hart has had a decent year in net. The hiring of John tortorella for that team and I'm sure we've talked about it on the pod before is curious to me because it's like ownership in Philadelphia said, well, you can talk chuck Fletcher about a rebuild or a renovation. We're not investing in that. So you go out there, do your best, John turnaround is available. Let's hire him to coach this team and maybe he can put us right back on track. And it just doesn't seem to be working. Look, they've had flexes where things have gone better. But that doesn't seem to change what appears to be an inevitable, does it? Like this team needs a ton of work. I can't for the life of me figure out that roster. When you say whether John is the right coach or the wrong coach for a rebuild, you could have anyone you want standing back there. And that team is a mishmash of players of various ages and contract lengths and I don't see any way that a complete restructuring has to happen. Here's the problem. While i was it was hard to be happy given the circumstance For grew to become the head coach. But i was happy that he was getting an opportunity to do it at one of my favorite teammates of all time honestly one of the funniest people on the planet. Here's another thing about him. He didn't make the nhl till he was twenty seven. He scored led the american league in scoring not fast enough not fast at nine. Twenty seven before they expand to nashville and brew gets an opportunity than he ends up. In minnesota another expansion team then he ends up in atlanta another expansion team scored the last school ever on patrick wa in game seven against minnesota in overtime and i said to a wall must looked at that at that. Highlight clip said brunette. Deked me it's time to retire. It's so brew ended up playing a thousand games so my point drake's is that he was a grinder of the game. He's he loves the game he loves the nuance of the game. I he's a fantastic people person. I think he would be a really good head coach now. But I do think that He had a very good Stanley Cup run based on one of the best goalie performances I've ever seen in a Stanley Cup playoff with J S. Giguere. And he went to a Detroit team that I think even you Albert Wedding knowledge was primed and ready to win a Stanley Cup and I'm not trying to take away credit from him because They didn't win one the year before he got there, and then they got he he got there and they won so, but I'm just saying, it's not like he built that team from the ground up. And maybe that's the argument for Mike Babcock is that he doesn't have to build this team from the ground up. He's just got to get them. To the next level. Um, but It didn't work out in Toronto. It didn't work out for Claude Julien in Montreal. It didn't work out for John Tortorella in Columbus. So I just my biggest thing. Is Who you gonna get? That's better. Do you believe that any of them are better? Just because at one point they won a Stanley Cup. Tucker says. It's easy to lay blame when you lose. Maybe everyone needs to take the blame. Maybe the avalanche over achieved a little during the season wasn't there year. I like the AVS, they'll be back. And I think that's the moral to the story. "Who i was and how people were going to perceive me and i still have those conversations especially when comes to gender identity and and the more recent conversations that i've been having about non binary gender non conforming issues but i think that the industry has changed so much even since i started even in the last couple of years now. Six months with me to the industry has drastically changed. And i started in this industry when social media didn't exist at all and then she mess of things i do when you can do would know i can still do. Nobody knows for sure came. Hey we're going to zoom in on. But yeah i you know people think that we know everything about everybody through social media but we have to remember world getting the peace that they want to show us. There's still plenty of room for private life but going back to that conversation about social media not existing when instagram pop and when we all started like sharing on instagram. That's when the conversation my life really came to the forefront with my agent as managers being like okay girl pushing back on what are you doing and i was like what no everybody is doing. This and like people are getting to know me rather than like trevor from scream. Four or jacob from the following. Like i've always put myself first not the characters that i've played and were all these like multi dimensional dynamic humans. I think that that is really what has been allotted to us through social media. And i think that is happening right now. In this revolution of the internet is we're finding each other. Yeah in a way. That's been possible since the beginning of time but speaking of finding yourself. Because i feel like i'm still trying to figure out what it means to be gay and what it means to be on..

"Pissed with the players that they're not trying that they don't have he says playoff mentality paraphrasing and that's how it has to be from start to finish in this short schedule but now he's coming out saying you know we got. You've got a full half roster that has changed over. You've got a rookie head. coach effectively. Hasn't even played ear. Coach eighty two games in the league yet and it. Just don't you think that's unrealistic for fans to be this upside down like they are in ottawa. Don't you think that that's a totally unrealistic. Look at things that you know after eleven games. You're ready to on by the way on opening night. You know this team is maybe a playoff team in a lot of people's eyes and eleven days it's been a complete overturn of the attitude. Everything sucks right now. I can't believe the not playing the kids. The veterans a bad the goal is bad. The coaches bad. The gm's bad. It's so early as my point that it just seems crazy. After eleven days. The people are reacting this vehemently about the sins being junk. I've always never liked that. The team bearing fans bearing their team regardless of what's happening right not everyone can be a winner. I know i know. I do see what you're saying and i understand that That you got to look at the facts. Look at all of all of what you just pointed out So like for dial it back folks dialed back here. Go ahead and bury them in a month. But be patient for now or or or next year you know. Who are you gonna listen to. Who's credible you know about the sense that would be you and i gotta think back to when we interviewed. Gordon wilson okay. Who's been with this team since day. One and in the end of the interview What i took away from that is gordon. Said it's not gonna be a great year for the sense It's going to be a very tough year Just short of saying you know. You know, 17 players couldn't practice because of just some some current concerns with Colvin. And I think that's gonna happen. I think it's gonna be a crazy year that way. S so whatever's thrown at us, we accept it. We're very fortunate. To be doing the things we're doing that we love, where other people just struggling just to keep themselves in their family together with this John, Do you feel like with the covert situation? The Blue Jackets, the NHL. It seemed like they did a pretty tremendous job last fall as far as the bubble goes, and that's probably going to continue. Are they doing the very best job? They can. Do You see any any loopholes? The bubble last year in the playoff. It was it was such a contained area. I thought the league every it was junk. It was done so well. This is different here now. Because you're you're not in a bubble. You're gonna be going to different cities. You gonna be flying on a plane You're gonna have to trust other people are taking care of themselves and being safe so it doesn't spread. This is a whole different situation. And as you've seen in just the first week, I think five or six teams have they had to shut down their practice facility just because of the current concern of Of tracing and a couple players having a couple of staff members having it and trying to be real careful. I think the league has done a great job to prepare for this with the protocol. They're going to be some hiccups here. You know, you watch the football season on and some of things that going on there and there'll be some hick ups. We just got to respect the protocol and try to keep teaching each and every one of us safe. John before I let you go.
