"If you guys were standing on a range picking out targets with 6 iron, than it is if you're going to go down and play pirates cove, where I know you've had some success in the past. I wish that was a joke, but it's true. What I enjoyed most about the weekend of the gulf is that this is kind of a trope that I've tried it out before. It's just so enjoyable for me to watch a tournament in which the leaders on the weekend shoot 70 or 69 or 71. And that is good. That is just good enough. And John ram on Sunday shot one under. Ella Torres shot one under Jason Day shot even par, not on Sunday, during the final round on Saturday. And all those guys were relevant the entire time, like shooting par does not move you down the leaderboard necessarily. Or at least it doesn't bottom you out in which you have to shoot 64 to win it. I know Luke list shot 66 and chased these guys down, but none of those guys felt like their game was off on during the final round. They were just grinding out on a tough golf course and it is just such a welcome site at this point in the season where as we've discussed, you go from camp Smith winning at 34 under into the la Quinta event or the Sony open where these guys have to reach 22 to 27 under in order to win. You know, as a la tourist and list got to 15 under, and it felt like a goddamn grind to get there. I love that type of golf. It adds more variance. It is just a better viewing experience in my opinion. Yeah, I think 6 of the top ten guys shot in the 70s on the on Sunday. There's also something to Torrey pine south. It's almost come full circle where I think people were sort of over it for the U.S. open. Because we almost just see it too often. But now that we've seen it that often, it's like a, you know, it's a familiar face. We've come back now. Solid. It's our third golf tournament here in 12 months. And Tiger has always played here. So people know it. And in terms of entertainment, when it comes to a golf tournament, knowing the course that people are on. I mean, that's half the magic of the masters. I would say. So even though you can have your gripes about the finishing stretch for sure, yeah, 14 and 15 just being sort of the same par four back to back. It's kind of weird and the fact that 18, the only drama is just the fact that you dropped a pond into this area, this inland area on a cliff side piece of property. And that's the main drama of the tournament. You can get golf architecture, snobbish about it, and you'll have a fair case to make. But from an entertainment perspective, having a hard golf course that rewards good ball striking brings a lot of good players into the mix..

"Putting stuff maybe it gets exaggerated with xli tourists because you see a few of those yippy strokes, but they're really in the lead. Like the whole weekend. And he did not make a putt on Sunday. He hit he hit 15 greens in regulation, and he had 29 putts on those greens. I don't know what I think he made one or two birdies on Sunday. It was not me hit the ball quite well, but he ended up 64th for the week on the greens. He lost over a stroke to the field putting. So definitely not good, probably not as bad as the slow motion four footer would suggest. I mean, all these guys are putting a little bit in fear on Torrey pines, especially late in the day, because it's bumpy. We've played a bunch of golf at Torrey pines. They pump people through there. They were playing golf there. I don't know how many weeks ago, but not so long ago. And the north rose a lot truer than the south. And especially late in the day, the south is a little sketchy. But yeah, there's no question that zela Taurus is kind of infinity stroke going on at comes back from the inside and comes through from the outside and if you watch his hands in that one slow motion video, they are moving laterally. There's too much. There's something else going on there that I think every golfer can relate to, which is just a little bit of fear. And it's a real thing. But yeah, it's maybe also overstated. Is this I want to know if this is a dumb question. But are you a better putter than wills el Torres? I don't think so. No. I mean, I don't think it's a dumb question. I think it's a fair question. I think a lot of people have to ask themselves that. Yeah. I think a lot of online putter critics would probably do well to self reflect a little bit. But he actually puts very well for the average golfer. But I think he works very, very, very hard on his putting, like, by all reputation. I think that there's just something in those short putts that does not quite agree with him. But yeah, I mean, in general, he's a very good putter. With that said, whatever brandle was saying a couple weeks ago, he made a really good point that the guys that went on tour are not the best putters in the world. They are the hottest putters among the best ball strikers in the world. The gap between Sean Zach and wills a lot tourists, for example, is a lot wider.

"You gotta admit that video did look good. God. And listen, I remember call it out Bryson's two minutes and 20 seconds for that one putt under very normal conditions in the Northern Trust. I consider these two situations to be different, right? If you are playing horribly slow on Thursday Friday and dragging your group down and pulling them behind, that's different than the final group on a Saturday and blustery conditions while you're in the lead or type of lead or close to the lead. Like there's some circumstantial evidence here that in a out of context clip that you're gonna see on social media, like you can't tell that story. Like you can't tell the full story of how insane the conditions were on Saturday. So it's just a different it's a sliding scale. And also it doesn't help as LPGA does not have enough cameras out there to follow enough groups. So they are stuck on a players routine like this stuff happens in other spots on that golf course and in the PGA Tour and things like that and producers have an ability to cut away when there's more cameras to cut to and they don't have that on the LPGA tour. So listen, I'll go out on a limb here. I will admit the video looked bad, Randy, okay? I'll admit it to you. Okay, I'll be brave and I will say that to you. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you. God. Well, that's a start. That's a starting fire. That's great. I love the passion. I'm so anti passionate about it though. I'm only passionate about not being passionate about it, okay? Look at how much I don't care. I don't care how much I don't care. I don't even care. The worst thing that happened to me this weekend was that slow play incident. That was the worst. I had a great weekend, otherwise. That was the worst thing that happened to me. What we did, we did hear from some LPGA insiders that you know I think Danielle can get a little slow on the greens. Yes. I think somebody told us that she makes on the greens she makes lizette Salas look fast, which, listen, that's fine. I net out where you do solly. If I'm just watching on TV, it really doesn't bother me. Like, sometimes it's fun to pretend it bothers me, but really my life doesn't change if somebody's takes a minute, 30 to put rather than 40 seconds. Especially just the drive by on the LPGA, like again, I don't, the people that were super mad about it online, I'm gonna call into question whether or not you were grinding and watching the game bridge on Saturday afternoon. Like if that was your big takeaway of like watching it like dude, I can't watch this anymore because of this clip that club pro guy just happened to have clipped and also put to social media. I'm with like, I'll stand with you on that, that's fine, but I'm gonna guess you weren't actually watching what was going on and could put that clip properly into context. Sure. Are we Friends with Danielle and it's like that contributing to what I think about it potentially? Sure, I'll take that. I don't care, but I truly can't can not muster the passion to defend this at every stop. Direct that at Tron Carter NLU he will be your man. You will call it every instance of slow play, but please don't let him get away with not calling out a single one because if you call out one, you gotta call him out all. That's the rule on Twitter apparently. TC was on a heater this weekend up in Charleston. So you would have been all over it. No, he was watching the game bridge on Saturday, too, I'm sure, yes. God, take it away. Take it all away. I don't want it. Well, in more positive news, it was thrilling much similar to what we were saying about the farmers. It was a truly thrilling mix of players atop. I had a blast kind of watching the watching the final round this afternoon was really fun flipping back and forth between that in the game and a lot of Danielle and Lydia obviously are great but haven't booty up there and having yuka saso up there. It's just a good mixed player. LPGA is in a good spot to have a big season. I'm really looking forward to watching a lot more this year. I totally agree. I think, you know, one thing that I need to get a little information on, if anybody listening knows. So you can sasso, won the U.S. open and burst onto the scene playing under the Philippines flag, and she has changed to Japan now. And at first I thought that was maybe just like the LPGA website had gotten some wrong, but I see on the role I rank the Rolex rankings website. They have her under the Japan flag now, so very curious. I know she's like Filipino and Japanese. I'm just curious, I've not heard why she made that decision to play for Japan now. But yeah, looking at the top ten DJ to your point, like Nelly korda 23 years old, Jin young co's 26 ranked second in the world, Lydia ko, 24, yuka saso, sorry, if I may, Randy, I looked this up earlier as to why this is the case. So yeah, why? She held both Japanese and Filipino citizenship, but was obliged to renounce one of her two citizenships by the time she turns 22 years old. In 2023. So as per Japanese nationality law. So in November 2021, sasso announced her attention to keep her Japanese citizenship and completed the process by January 2022. Two for the Japanese. I was going to say, I think, you know, I know she signed with Callaway as well and it's possible Tron was filming her in on the fact that the Callaway Japan stuff is absolute fire. And maybe she now gets access to that. So I know this spoils the upcoming racial draft in the Chappelle show that I'm sure is coming up. But yeah, the Japanese have recruited yuka saso. That's a big the closest we've seen. Yeah. Wait a sealed, the deal there..

"I don't have too much more to add on stone Rory that is Victor hovland. Just in that, I mean, he went out and got it. He needed to shoot a crazy low round and he went out and did it, started the day 6 back and shot 600, right? And. I think the next step is obvious, right? We haven't totally seen him contend any majors. We haven't seen him take that next step, so that honestly is probably like one two with me right now and kind of my what I'm most excited about for the majors this year is rom and houghland. I think seeing if rom can truly hit the afterburners and knock off a couple and seeing if hovland can get in the mix because I think that would be truly awesome to watch and I think he's gonna make so many freaking fans. I think that's a prediction. I think he's going to have he's going to have some mic'd up, some mic'd up moment or something where he just completely wins over everybody in the world on a really huge stage. So just had a blast watching him. Didn't have a blast watching Rory Rory had his entire Richie tenenbaum. I'm not having a good time, vibes going on. He's kind of chirping at photographers. He's moving fans around, I don't know how closely you watch it this morning, solve, but as he's hitting the ball out of the bush on 17, he's shouting at fans like you don't understand like this both fucking anywhere. That's an actual quote, too. The F Bobby threw in there. Yeah. 16. He's trying to hit a wedge in the middle of the green. He's got a photographer snapping in his backswing. He had some choice words for him. And then basically kind of gets out of 17s of drivable par four. He hit driver and pulled it way left in this bush, hacked out of the bush, which was like kind of an edge of your seat moment, which was very like, is this this doesn't seem like it's going to go great. Actually a great little pitch out kind of back to the grass and then hits an unbelievable chip shot to stone dead and makes par and then he's sitting there waiting on 18 waiting waiting waiting and I guess kind of the decision of the week will be whether he should have hit driver or three wood on the reachable par 5, the 18th, I don't know. This is where I always feel like such a fraud where I'm like, what a fucking idiot, man. You should hit driver. It's like he's Rory McIlroy. He has far more information than I do, standing on that T box. A lot of the commentators in the moment seemed very comfortable with the decision. They were predicting that he was going to hit three wood because there's a pond that if he leaves one out to the right a little bit and kind of juices one, it kind of brings the water into play on the T ball. So he lays back with the three wood hits it in the fairway. It has like two 67, I think. And then just truly an awful, awful three wood. I don't know if he was trying to take something off of it. I don't know what the game was bad, bad vibe, but the individual decision to hit three wood off the tee. I don't think I would scrutinize that tightly if it didn't come with this whole concept. He's come up with for the current year and I know we've alluded to it in the previous weeks, but haven't really read the actual quotes. As he said, I think the fairways hit stat is always a big one for me if I can hit the ball in the fairway 60% of the time with how far that I hit it. I'm going to create a lot of opportunities for myself, the more opportunities to give yourself, you know, the putts will fall, blah, blah, blah. He said, again, that goal of hitting more fairways, it means maybe throttle back and hitting three with a little more often or hitting clubs that are maybe not as aggressive off T's and just putting yourself in the fairway. Maybe just being a little bit more measured and a controlled golfer. I'll certainly pick and choose my spots where I can take advantage of the driver and hit it. But the best player, the last 30 years, Tiger, he picked and chose where he hit driver. And he played a very, very controlled game. It didn't work out too badly for him. I'll get to why. I think that quote is troublesome, but I think trying to eliminate the big miss off the tee, those destructive shots where you make doubles from rain that ended up a little bit and get more effective with scoring clubs. All right, Rory. Your greatest skill is your ability to drive the golf ball. It is. So again, the individual decision to hit three wood over driver. I think that there's reason there on that 18th tee, but this whole mindset is not vibing for me. Like you can't, you don't have tigers iron play and putting. Tigers approach play is the best we've ever seen in the game and also he was like the best putter. Like that is a lethal combo to be like, all right, Tiger said, I don't need to be out of play off the tee because I'm so good at everything else that we're not going to cost ourselves. Rory gets to being the best by driving the shit out of the golf ball. So I kind of get where he's saying of like he feels comfortable enough hitting enough greens and you know you're just going to start making putts eventually. But like, dude, you don't realize the effect of getting 25 yards closer to the green. How much that is actually affecting your approach play because at average shot from one 25 is better than a good one from one 50. And that plays out over the course of a tournament in great numbers. It really really does add up. So through that lens, I have an issue with him pulling three wood because it seems to be like a conscious decision for him and if it's going to put you two 66 out with the risk of hitting it in the water, it's hard not to be like, dude, yeah, you had a chance to take on more risk off the tea. And if you don't drive it great and you still gotta avoid the water off the tea whatever. If you don't drive it great, you can still lay it up and hit a wedge on, but you gotta put yourself in a great place to get on in too and he did not do that. Yeah, just seeing hovland in the playoff having two 30 instead of two 70 is such a big difference, especially when you're I'm not advocating that, man, maybe just lay it up and hit a wedge in their clothes from 80 yards. But he was tied rather than rather than needing to, you know, he wasn't trailing, which was just a weird, a weird kind of sequence of events, all the way around. And I think, again, this is where I kind of proceed with caution and feel like a bit of a fraud because it's like, of course, is a very smart, very intelligent golfer who has a ton of great information at his disposal and a great bunch of great people around him, but yeah, when I heard those quotes, man, it was hard to not feel exactly like what you just said. Where it's like, yo, it's a true like the why not both jif of yo, what if you just like remained the best driver in the world and and improve the scoring clubs? Why do those two things need to be mutually exclusive, man? This doesn't make a ton of sense, which to me it either seems like total conjecture here, but it either seems to be telegraphing like, is he.

"Looking forward to breaking mine out later today. I'm excited to see you back in the golf game. As I said, out of respect for my future competitors, I don't want any videos. Why are you doing this? You don't really. That's an interesting question. I don't necessarily have the answer. First of all, I will say my wife shout out to my wife, Justine. Catching a little bit of the golf bug as well. So it's just been a fucking blast going out to the range with her trying to figure some stuff out, figure out what's going on with her swing, figuring out what's going on with my swing, going and plan. It's just been, you know, it hasn't been very recreationally fun for it's kind of felt like work for a little bit. And I feel like I'm kind of on the other side of that. That's legitimately exciting. We have played golf as a group in so long. We don't do that anymore. I know. No, and that's what yeah, we don't have to go and hold. You listen to the very often times when we're going to the golf course is like there's a bunch of cameras, you got to figure out what's going on are the batteries charged. Who's mic'd up? Is that Mike track rolling? Oh my God, is that group behind us going to catch up to us? It's just not a very fun way to play golf. And so I think, yeah, I probably ODed on that type of golf for a little while. So I'm trying to reach for shock the system, Randy, and also my lord and savior of course. Of course. And I've been completely rebuilding my swing. Got a playing lesson, playing lessons with the pro, with Justin huber this week. Much like rom, I think I'm positioned to fuck people up in 2022. I will play anybody in America right now as a 7 handicap. Well, speaking of fucking people, of course you will, yeah. Speaking of fucking people up, why don't you take us through the desert where Victor hovland wins in a playoff over our guy dick plan? Man, great stuff. I won't pretend to have watched it live caught it up on DVR this morning. Victor Holmes starts the day 6 back, finishes birdie eagle birdie, which is decent to post 12 under. Blandy excellent little plotting his way down the 18th, little three shot par 5, rolls in with like a 25 footer, 20 foot or 25 foot or something like that to force a playoff or to also get to 12 under, and then of course, our sweet boy the rib comes to the final hole after an amazing escape par on 17, which we can talk about. Comes to the final hole and this is in a very conflicting, is this called the knowing a podcast or not. Just really catches the opposite side of that sword that you're hoping for and blows into the water on 18 doesn't make the playoff. And Victor Hoffman comes out on top with an excellent birdie on the 18th. So just as I think we mentioned earlier, Holland's third win in 5 starts, dick bland was chasing down that second career dude perfect world tour victory in his late career resurgence. Just excellent excellent golf to catch up on. I was talking to solid earlier. I think European tour golf on DVR. That gosh, that might be the that might be the problem. That feels like the paywall. Secrets. Just brew a pot of coffee and skip through all the ads. It's really, really good stuff. Brandy, blendy, it's about time people put some respect on blandy's name. Yeah, people need to be harder at John Robert. They need to really complicate this blade. Well listen, he's going to be 49 years old in March. He's playing the best golf of his life. He's ranked 80th in the world right now. Actually, that might not even be updated. He might go even higher. People whose rank behind him, for instance, you got a guy like lanto Griffin and Keith Mitchell and Ricky and 50 seconds. Per VC 6 O 6 he's on Twitter, 52 in the world now. Almost in the masters. Yeah. But people should take a look in the mirror. Find a little heart. It is legitimately awesome. It was so like, you know, kind of cheese ball alert here a little bit, but watching a playoff between young up and coming stud Viktor hovland and 48 year old Richard bland is a thing you don't get in any other sport. That's the best. And yeah, Randy, in all seriousness, it is an awesome awesome story. It's really fun to watch. Also cool that it's swing coaches on the broadcast, kind of a Paul Casey Peter Costas, maybe a little less polarizing on both sides of that equation. Example, but it was a real real delight. When the Euro tour hits, man, it's such a good thing. It's probably fair to say of any golfers in the top 52 in the world, the most physically limited is probably Richard bland, right? And to watch the most physically limited player among those players, finish birdie birdie and to watch Rory finished par bogey to miss the playoff by one is like that is gut wrenching. That is tough, man. That's kind of a normal sport example. Yeah. I don't know where you guys want to go. Do we want to talk about the rib? Do we want to talk about people seem the most fired up about the rib? I mean, hovland seems to be fulfilling his destiny, which is to be truly one of the best players in the world. He's now third ranked player in the world, which also may be the most likeable player in the top ten. Awesome player to watch. So Rory Rory or stone Roy, where would you prefer.

"Do you know what's funny? What's funny is rob will pull this. After the interview, you know, he's like, you know, it obviously wasn't my best, but you know we got a decent score out of it. And then later in a different interview, somebody asked him and was like, you know, it wasn't your best out there, and he's like, well, it wasn't that bad. I mean, like, come on. He will take little slights. If you even like intimate, like, yeah, you didn't play your best out there, and he's like, well, it's not like I shot 80 out there. Just watch. Okay, I'll fucking see you. You want to go play? He's got this little edge to him. Listen, he thinks we're very hard on him on social media. I love all the outbursts. Like, I'm gonna post them all. I think they're great. It makes you feel something when you watch that guy. I like rooting for him. I'm a ram fan. But I think maybe rounding it out. Just a fun leaderboard this week of like, you know, there's so many leaderboards where I'm just truly numb like feeling nothing. Especially once we get into kind of dog days of summer, but it was cool to see like Luke list trying to break through. It's cool to see zal tour is trying to hang on on the back 9 with weird ass Potter. Cool to see rom on the edge of exploding. Cool to see Jason Day. Fun to see Justin rose hitting the water at 18. Like lots of just a lot of good stuff. Very, very fun day of golf yesterday, which maybe speaks to, I don't know how much of that was also the Saturday finish. I don't know if you guys want to talk about that. Please. I mean, that's a huge deal. It really is, and there's a great article I shared on Twitter from the San Diego union tribune talking about and I guess I did not remember this this way or how it all usually plays out, but this being a week's the NFL adding an extra week is what slid everything farmers used to sit in this cozy little spot in between conference championships and the Super Bowl and this kind of caused a little bit of a panic on their end. If you read the article, it's a great article talking with their CEO Jeff Daly, who kind of seems awesome. I don't want to get too far on the CEO train, but I got some nice things to say about Jeff Daly. One, just like thinking outside the box on getting this done and all of the I've said this when it happened, this is not a simple thing to just slide a tournament up a day. They lose the pro am, TV schedules change, and that article does a great job just detailing out all of the things that they had to consider which one of them was presented as a choice at first. Do you want to go Wednesday through Saturday or do you go to NBC and keep the Thursday through Sunday format? My initial upset reaction was let's go to NBC, then cooler heads prevailed. They said the short and runway made a costly casualty of the pro am a net $1 million hit for the century club of San Diego. That's according tournament director and CEO, Marty Gorsuch. It scrambled TV coverage. It slice and dice everything from travel and lodging dates to hospitality and attendance rhythms. And in a blink everything became risky and uncharted golf water. And I think I hope it worked out for him. I hope the ratings worked out. I think that it sounds like there are some serious momentum here for this event to stay in that spot and hopefully even force some change in some earlier January events. What do you guys think? Loved it. Obviously, I really enjoyed it. I'm looking forward to we're taping this, which we can talk about later, but we're taping this kind of midday Sunday here, so we're going to tack on some other LPGA stuff on the end of it, but it'd be nice to actually sit and be able to watch football. Anybody else? I'm excited about that. I'm a little pessimistic that I'm a little nervous about what the ratings will be. I think it's just so much easier to get people in the couch on a Sunday afternoon than it is on a later in the evening Saturday. I think people just kind of have generally more stuff going on, but that's a total total total guess by me. I think if you started to kind of hit like critical mass with some of these, you know, getting some of these like January events kind of all switching to Saturday finishes and you start getting more momentum in that regard. I think it's going to probably do a lot better than just a one off where there's probably a still a massive massive part of the audience who's going to flip on the golf at Sunday on Sunday afternoon and be pissed that they didn't realize it ended yesterday just because of the nature of who golf's audience is. But I applaud them for doing something different. I greatly enjoyed it. I say something to that, though, like the comp is not a normal Sunday football list viewing. So that's very clear. We're not going to have that income for this. Because if you want a good comp, it's like American Express, non network ratings up against the football that happened last weekend, which were horrible, so bad. Like, unbelievably bad ratings, right? So if anything, that, I think, validates, and golf channel coverage, just different the network coverage viewing wise and the LPGA on NBC did better than the men's golf does on PJ on golf channel, which just speaks to people's viewing habits, I think. I mean, straight up LPG golf does not beat PGA Tour golf really ever, but that's just how network coverage works, right? So for them, they are going to get a big flask. They are going, yeah, it's just a Marty fish. They are going up against a blind number or a blind, they don't know what it would be, right? And that takes a little bit of extra trust. We've seen in this industry. People need it proven to them and beaten over the head before any kind of change ever is made. And so I'm rooting for this. But if you do pull the string back, like, you know, it's not as simple as everybody moving up to Wednesday through Saturday because in prior week, this is the first NFL weekend that there's no football on Saturday. So in reality, we're talking about either moving up the play on set to finish midday Saturday before football starts or even finishing on a Friday, which I don't know if that's going to be good. But it does help kind of maybe cycle that January flow a lot better if you can century can kind of do what they want. Days of the week wise, right? I mean, they don't have a tournament the week prior to that. And if they move up, then Sony can move up. American Express can move up and then this fits in a lot better where you can have the pro ams and all the stuff that go into a normal event. So that's what will be interesting to see because it sounds like in that article it made it sound like even before this week happened that they're here to stay on this time shift. I would be curious and I know there's no way to answer this maybe. How Saturday finish we compared to a hypothetical Monday finish?.

"12 world between the dude perfect world tour and the PGA Tour 12 wins for rom at age 26, 27. I mean, that's a lot. And as a citizen of the world like yourself, Randy, I thought you would show a little bit more respect for some of these worldwide. He could stay around and beat up the, you know, he could beat up the U.S. tour if he wanted, but he's getting out. He's trying to grow the game. I will say this to him. Now, one of his PGA Tour wins was a partner event, too, which, you know, I think we got to hang out with your mission. Now you're just fishing. But now you're just fishing. Outlook is so what I my takeaway from yesterday was in order, I think or descending order. My top takeaway was not these auditors or Luke list thing. It was like, man, that looked like as bad as rom could possibly play. And he finished one shot out of a playoff. Like he just, I know we keep saying this over and over and over, but he just seems like he is ready and poised to just severely fuck people. Well, that's what I'm saying. He's got to start because he's looked that way for the better part of the last year. Well, many people are calling him the buoy because he doesn't sink, right? I see a lot of people on social media saying that. And that's definitely a significant social thing now. People would just keep calling him the buoy and I'm down with it. I think we let that happen. I do think there's a great question we got from DOM brow Bryan. He said, ram has played so well over the past year, but only as a couple wins to show for it. Yeah, just the 12 wins. Monster first half of 2021, according to Trump. No, hold on. Hold on. Are the days of guys winning 5 plus tournaments a year over? Do we overrate wins? Well, all those European wins happened at least a few years ago. His last one was 2019 over on the dude perfect tour. I think the question was, like, listen, he was clearly the best player in the world all of 2021. Anyone one time? I mean, I do think it's an interesting discussion, right? Maybe it's maybe guys just can't win as much as they used to because of the how good the fields are. I don't know, but I don't want to get to a point where winds are overrated. That stinks as a fan. I just think the landscape changes more and more every year. It just gets a little bit diluted. Inflation, we're seeing inflation live in action here, right? I mean, you know, it was a dollar last year is not worth the same as a dollar this year. It is just like it's insane. I know we keep saying the more this game gets homogenized and becomes this driving distance and trackman thing. Guys are just going to get closer and closer and closer together and it's going to be harder and harder to separate yourself the consistency is truly amazing. It just is going to be that hard to rack up 5 wins in a year. It really is. And look, this is a special skill to get out in front and run and add on birdies when you are two shots clear. I agree, that's like a different thing. It's not, you know, just playing great golf is not, you know, it's just very boring to be like, yeah, he's very good. He shouldn't win. I get it. He is that talented. He is a different level. And, you know, he's not shown that special skill to just like pull the DJ of like, dude, no one's getting within 6 of me this week. I'm not going to get involved in the mathematical stuff that goes on in close golf tournaments. Like, no one's getting me. And that is like the final frontier for rom, I think. So. Well, which might be an unreasonable expectation though. Like you could be the best player in the world and still not just run out and have weeks where you just dunk on people because it does feel like maybe it is a mental thing that he does need to calm the fuck down in these alternates and just be like not get so visibly upset at like very normal things that happen on a golf course. Like John, we all lip out putts. Like there are putts that you hit towards the hole that might not go in and you have to be able to come to terms on that. Get there's a competitive nature of that. But there also is just like an understanding of the world is not out to get you. It is not that shocking when you lip out a putt, you have done this so many times you should understand the chances of a putt barely missing are pretty good when you hit one. You can't let your entire composure degrade because of it. There was something like speaking of just like players that make you feel something. There was something truly awesome about watching him be visibly furious on Thursday when he was 13 under par through two rounds. Just slamming clubs. Absolutely at his wit's end. He's 13..

"I honestly thought will put it pretty good on Sunday. His lag putting was great. He was like lagging his speed was really good. And he shook in, you know, most of those shorties. It's just, yeah, it was really a team's bad. That was tough. It was bad, really, really bad. I mean, speed might have been too good. You know, you don't want to leave yourself that many that many shorties in that two, three foot range. Well, that's why I thought I thought in the playoff, he was like, I was like, oh, that's outside the dangers of it. Exactly. All that thing in. That's the big Randy zone. Which I thought, not put me from zero to 7 feet. Yeah. Yeah, 12 feet, and see what fuck around and see what happened. And that's what I honestly, I thought that's what he did on 18 in regulation almost too. It was at 8 footer. He was a little passive on that one. So it seems like for zal tours to win a tournament, though, he's going to have to, in essence, he's going to have to win by multiple shots because he's going to give up a stroke or two on the greens. Does this put a cap on his potential or what do you guys now that we've got another year of wills out tourists? What do you make of him? Well, one thing I will say is, you can't argue, it's great TV. I mean, you just, you almost feel everyone moved to the edge of the seat when he gets a four footer. The announcers are even like making. I was saying yesterday, it's like it's the perfect offer for someone like me who's an absolute sick person because I can completely appreciate everything all of the super high highs of what he's doing. On one hand, I'm like, oh my God, how does he generate so much speed? That's unbelievable. That's so fun to watch. How does he hit his iron so good? That's so awesome. I can't get enough of watching that. Oh my God, I can't wait to see if he makes it fun. Like watching a watching a college football kicker. Where it's just like, you know, I know he's supposed to make it, but got weird shit keeps happening. I don't know. It's also why they need to outlaw armlock and all that. Or sure. Well, it's not even helping him. That's not. I mean, if you're getting, you're doing all that to get to armlock and you know that you still got that going on, not good, but listen, all right, so they talked a lot about his increased distance and that's all the more reason why I do think he is going to win. Calling more kawa is not an expert putter has weeks where he looks horrible with the putter as well. And Kyle Porter tweeted that he's winning 10% of his tournaments. Absolutely zell torch is gonna win. It's gonna be fascinating to watch. He's gonna have better putting weeks than this one. That happens, I don't know what, you know, poa can do weird things if you're not very confident on green's Poe is not gonna help the situation. I don't really recall anyone really putting great at Torrey pines in the past, you know, it just preaching a little bit of patience with it. I think it's gonna be fun to watch and make fun of on repeat. Yes, absolutely, of course. But I'm still buying zalatoris. I do think, but I think Randy's tyrannies point though. I mean, he was basically asking like, does it change the ceiling? And I think it 100% has to be yes. More kawa is in a different league potting wise compared to del Toros, at least it seems like. And I haven't totally looked that up, but that's kind of the way it feels. And more a college still is like pushing number one in the world. At the current clip, man, it really doesn't seem like it seems like of course agree. We're sure going to win and probably win an above average amount of times. But is he going to get to number one in the world? Is he going to win a bunch of majors? I don't know that I would be betting on that watch watching what we just bought. I'm with you there. I do think more cow peaks harder, more cow has weeks where he just forgets that he's not a very good butter and we really haven't seen that from salat tourists yet, but there are numbers are around the same. I mean, but like, look at Hideki man. Like he wins a shitload, and it was outdoors hits it that good. He really does. And so, yeah, I do think it limits the ceiling, of course, but I think we're going to I don't know. I'm halfway between this, right? Because I'm like, yeah, his ceiling's huge he's young. He's just not that young. He's 25 and a half now and yeah, it's only second season on the PGA Tour first is a full-time member, I think because weird COVID stuff and all that and whatnot. But at this point, I tweeted this out this past weekend just looking at it like Spieth had 11 wins by the age of 23 and JT had 9 by zealot tours current age. I think Rory had 13 worldwide wins at this point. It's not like he's a young blossoming player that we haven't seen the rest of. Probably looking at what he probably is going to be. And it's time that he does win one. Yeah, I totally agree. He's what, like, a year and a half younger than rom, right? Yeah. He's older than more cowa and hofland and all of that. So he's in a weird zone. I don't know if we need to put him on female watch just yet, Randy, but for the guy that only loves wins. I'm surprised I have to make this take for you. I'd watch a putting contest between Pheno and south tourists. Yeah, for sure. Why would you want to watch that? I don't want to watch that. Because I'm sick. You know, my very amateur opinion, he looks super he's got to find something that he's comfortable with because whatever he's doing now does not look comfortable. One thing that I did have in mind Randy remember when he used to be deep into Hank Haynes radio show. You remember what you would tell everybody who called in the head putting issue? Of course. I spent so much time listening to my old friend Hank, diagnosed putting was, do you want me to run through his whole checklist? Yeah, please. Well, it might only be two things. But he would ask him, people would call in. Hank, I got the yips, man. I can't make one. I can't make a three footer. I got the yips. And Hank would tell him, you know, first you got to figure out which hand, the yip is in, right? Is it in your left hand? Or is it in your right hand? So you want to hit, you know, some short putts, one handed, which I would encourage young will to do. And then.

"It was fun. It felt like, okay, all right, Tori, I see you. I see you. I could be down with this each year. Really proper part 5 on the back 9 was at 13 or 14. 13, that holds a little a little. I mean, it's ridiculous, but it's also like on the PGA Tour when they're hitting as far as they can. At least interesting to see like, oh my gosh, John rom can't get there into. That makes it kind of interesting, at least. You know, it's like, I don't know what yeah, there's only so many defenses you can put up eventually, right? And sometimes they need to be a little on the side of absurd in order to be a real par 5 these days. But I will say, man, it's just, this is what just a little bit of firmness will do to a viewing experience. It made those greens come alive. And I don't know if it was just the firmness or some special pin positions they had. But it was a some of the plateaus they used in some of the corners of those greens were true. Like, dude, if you want to go for this, like you got a thimble you need to land this on and try to hold it up there. And it was fascinating to watch guys. Take that on. Watch them kind of barely miss by a foot, and then it's spinning the wrong direction that it takes a slope away from it. There's some couple funnel pins out there and you can't believe you didn't get a shot in on some of those. There were some really gettable pins out there, but it makes the green shapes and formations actually come alive, watching the ball roll a little bit of suspense. Is it going to hold up there? That's so much more fun to watch than like a dark contest or a piece of shit putting putting contest week or something like that. So that regard, like, yeah, this was the best viewing experience we've had to this point. Yes, are we hard on Tory? I still think I was really thinking about this a lot. I'm like, am I wrong are we the baddies here? Are we wrong on Tori? And I'm extremely confident that we're not. I really do think the difference is to the back 9 Sunday viewer, like the guy that tunes in to watch the finish, like Tory almost always it delivers in some way. And it does contribute to that drama. Do I think it's like brilliant design? Of course not. But there are some good half power holes in there. There's a ton of shot value coming in. It's not, it's not a putting contest. You got to hit it in the right spots. You got to hit the fairways. I just find narrow fairways thick rough and bunkers on both sides of the fairway extremely boring. It is a straight execution test. Yes, but it provides some drama. It does. Now for the people that watch the tournament from like Thursday or in this case, Wednesday all the way through. The process of getting there is tough. It's tough viewing. And that is what a lot of people that are very into following golf. That's where I think a lot of the core issues come from. I don't know what you guys think about that. No, I'm with you. I would put myself in that very hardcore golf fan, at least most weeks. Yeah, I wasn't really chomping at the bit to watch Wednesday Thursday Friday. I was flipping it on here and there, but it just kind of washes you. Washes over you after a while. It really only gets and I think that's kind of I don't know the right way to say this, but I saw some good questions in there about like for such a quote unquote bad golf course like why is it always seemed to deliver at the end? I think part of that is probably because the leaderboard stays fairly bunched. I don't think anybody ever really runs away at Torrey pines, so whenever it's close, I mean, we've set a thousand times a playing any golf course. And if it's close, you know, coming to the 72nd hole, that's gonna be fun to watch. So I think that's part of it. And then I think the other thing is it's just one of those places that once the tournament, once the story starts to take shape, then you have all the scenery and you have all the familiarity with 18. You have a little bit of good variety on like 16s kind of cool part three, seventeen's got a great cliff shot now, and then you've got 18 is very familiar and you've got all these historic moments that have happened there and great highlights they can show yada yada yada. But yeah, watching somebody play like number four on Saturday morning. Number actually number four is kind of important. Vivid memory of watching number four. If I told you guys this story, I'm sure I probably have. But watching Spencer Levine play that whole. Oh, God, just I forget who he was even paired with that. I forget, honestly, I don't know. I know exactly what you're this one. I think it was 2015. I was there because I was looking at the photos yesterday that I took from that day because Jason Day one and dash day was like, I don't know, three, and he's like running through all the bunkers and just being a complete menace during the trophy ceremony. I got all these pictures of dash day, which was, as you pointed out, saw a shocking to see that he's now 35 years old. That's crazy. I can't gray hair. What'd you do? What was he doing with his he was doing something like hand signals? Some sort of some sort of dog whistle for some Internet community. East coast West Coast thing. I think it might have been a kind of ice in his veins type of emotion. I think that's right. I hope not. I really hope not. Literally, what the fuck else would it have been? I don't know. Are deep in the NBA scene as we know. You know, we've seen them courtside. Historic moment. What was I talking about? Come back to that in a minute. Hold number four is where we started this. Spencer Levine, he hit it, I think he hit it in the right rough and just like didn't even have enough firepower to get there and to hit this like horrible spinny ass, three wood up in the air wins howling comes up short, he hits this epic chip up there like really, really, really good stuff. And just misses the tap in and is so mad, he's like he's walking off the it's going to be hard to describe on audio. But he's walking off the green. And there's like three fans out there watching him. I don't know why I was out there watching him. But he someone's like, oh, it's all right, Spencer, keep your head up, and he just like, he just goes like this and waves the guy off. Like acknowledges him fully and like from a hundred yards away just waves him off of his head. And then he walks, I think he kicks his driver to the next tee, go to number 5, and then he play with Jimmy walker. And he just like, he swings the next one at like, I don't know. Like 50%, so just doesn't even give a fuck. He's just so mad that he just made a bogey that he doesn't even carry hits his drive like two 30. Jimmy walker out driven by a hundred yards and then Spencer does not win the tournament. But it was a very vivid memory that I have for some reason. Thank you for allowing me to share that. Anyways, as I was saying, Tori,.

"A bungalow or second story. Right off the first tee. So if you're playing the whites. I mean man. You're not twenty feet from my room. Just glad that you don't see a but ethnic alert just letting the day you really got lucky. If you don't see that if you go play television you didn't see that you got lucky. You might see it. You never know. I hope not so. How'd you play Actually played pretty standard. You know hit it really. Well didn't putt. Well you know shot away and south. That's not their alerts golfing. Exactly welcome to. That's frustrating as hell south santa as the guy who soon wanted to be living in the eighties ford to that for For a Okay you're were gonna we're big. Thanks to craig obviously coming on. But we'll talk a little bit about the field Couple of things going into it Probably the biggest one is phil mickelson. Who is a local guy finished. Second runner up at the us open six times but never won. He's got six major championships now He has won at torrey pines before and now he will be coming here as the most recent major champ as a fifty year old matt he always birthday during. Yes oh but we always singing. Happy birthday is coming up. You'll be fifty one pretty soon. But phil coming into tori With a chance to complete the career grand slam win his seventh major and finally get that. us open. It's one of those things that had you told me four weeks ago. You know that story. I would have said it's it's infinitely more likely that. He misses the cut that he finishes top. What fifteen even you know and instead He comes in the most recent major champ right. It's birthdays is on wednesday by the way. Oh wow really. Quick facts by google Yeah i mean if you were gonna be on the barstool sports book and you were looking to place a wager. it feels. I can't tell which sides dumb to be fills gonna win this thing or he's gonna miss the cut. Yeah yeah i went in is dumber you walk. I just a missed. The cut guy is not when you look. He could be in contention or he could be thirteen over. And you wouldn't be surprised either way so winning. I mean then also get his own possible hard to win one hundred percent but like the upside on winning is plus twenty five thousand or whatever. It's going to be filter. You'd he's going to be. I would imagine pulled up right now. Odds of anybody winning the last major of all time. I wonder what they were. I don't even know on the bar. Sports we didn't know exactly there. But imagine i mean now going into it. He's not gonna be as ridiculous as as he was being the local guy but he's still not in any way as he considered like favorite. He's six to one right. you know. that's a path for the guy again that just one and he you know he's hitting the ball far he was able to he. I don't know if he's able to win at right lane. You're hitting pretty far and pretty straight order to do that. It's not crazy to think that him with his local knowledge But then again if you just missed the cut by fifteen of course he did he peaked. I imagine we're living in a world where phil mickelson wins two majors in a row in twenty twenty one. That'd be. I mean it's been a weird year and i. Yeah it's been a weird two years weird we've been on a weird run but like that'd be the best storyline that we could get out of this. Yeah we're would brooks versus bryson. Oh final group coming down the stretch. I'm still i understand. People want you know they want the the brooks and bryson pairing on thursday. They want to make that happen or they want. Or like the scenario we talked about. you're saying they. They actually play well enough or they end up in the final group at a major. I think that's gonna take a lot out of the whole rivalry. Yeah because they're not gonna do anything. Nothing's gonna happen. Maybe you know what i love you so then would you put them thursday just because it's so rare that they'll ever be capitalize on everything that's gone on. Do you put them together on thursday. I risk is that he'll never actually be one on one in a major coming down the final stretch. I actually don't care either way of the pairings. I just know that the most entertaining stuff from this rivalry is going to happen on social media. Yeah yeah you're right. It's never going to be more interesting than that. People want them to meet on the first tee when they're paired up together and you know exchange looks and then maybe get into a fight. But it's not gonna happen right. They would shake hands. They probably wouldn't say a word which other all day and that'll be yup hud like one of them will beat the other three or four shots like they usually do around a golf and never are. I was cool and then as far as we know that the rivalry it's not over but it's like it reached a point that everybody wanted it to reach and with nothing happening. I think it would cool off an interaction. You had an interaction with bryson media. Bryson share mainstream story. How'd you feel about that. I was so some good points. I'll be honest. I did kind of set it up to be shared. Of course it was Welcome to the game correct. It was a little bit of. Like i think if i write this and tagged those guys a chance. They'll be like oh fuck. Yeah in a variety. But also i think that it was something i would have said on the podcast which is in that environment. Able to save more articulately. Because you're able to take your time but it was. It was true because we've gone. I don't wanna say fourth. But we've had a lot of opinions on the whole brooks bryson thing that could make. It seem again like we're instantly contradicting ourselves. Being like we're kind of over it but also we love it. Look i think undoubtedly. It's good for golf. i think it has transcended golf. I think on you know. Espn and people that typically only follow golf at the masters. The us open championship. You know are now like well. Aware of this brooks rc. Rundown they talk about it almost every time. It happened barometer for any legitimate new store. So i think there's no there's no doubt that it is transcending gala a little bit which is great. It's fantastic for golf now as as people that follow it pretty closely you know day in day out talk about twice a week for an hour and a half two hours every time like i. We just thought it got to a point where it got a little bit corny. It's not doesn't mean it's bad like for the game. It's still cool. It's still good. I think they still don't like each other but got a little bit corny with some of the responses when when brooks brought the ad in like i thought that was corny and we went all through that stuff so but ultimately when i when i saw the comments from brooks and now they've both been environments where they've been asked about it just directly oppression for they've just been asked like well already thing in brooks like i think it's good for the game and and i was thinking and i was like you know what it is. It is good for the game. it gets people involved. It's interesting the game should lean into rivalries not like tried to basically smothering recover them up which is kind of feels like. That's what the tour is always done and bryson sheridan which clearly he feels the same way. Yeah i it's good for the game. It is if you take your if you take like. You're not picking a side. You're not doing whatever it's like people talking about the sport more than they have you know recently so and you need like you. Can't we used to mock all the time you're stablemate was one of these guys who like when somebody would win a tournament major die like they wait for all their bodies and they all shake the guy's hand it's adorable for the first time but at the end of the day. It was a lot cooler than that is like. It's reported that the two guys that finished second like declined to talk in media. And they're fucking pissed and i mean that's better for the sport you need more than a pitching wedge stuff by one hundred yards to an inch tap him. The guy went to golf tournament like the storyline between golf. Yes is what drives it and you need to promote that because you know as a storyline guy trent like i mean you want the next storyline. What did it say. Just hey rigs birthday tuesday. Big fans show If on the next show you can give me a shot. Because it's my birthday wins. His birthday you know. I think he just kinda said generally. It's my birthday so maybe it was the day that he tweeted at me which was like yesterday so happy. Belated birthday happy. Like a lot of folks. Now in the social media age are in birthday week kind of so. It's just kind of. I don't love birthday week. I'll be happy birthday. And whenever very frank birthday week guy just be. It'd be really i brand of we buried him in seward him always not but he would he might he would never. I am a little surprised that we're wishing someone happy birthday when we don't know the date that's part of it. I just announcing that the the earth is in a pretty similar position relative to the sun where i was when this person was born. Okay yeah really close. I worked for me. Yeah so happy birthday trailer phelps trailer like i've lived poll something. How would you spell the name. It's t. r. a. y. l. o. r. and then phelps like the olympia route And then another. We got so now. We've got a handful of our own little things that have happened over the last five days to go through I reminisce says high green. So that's gonna come out wednesday night eight pm. Eastern frankie and bug flew out here last week to finish up as probably the what fourth trip out here this year. Something like that. Yeah well done by the in. The two of them been grinding. They've been got interviews with all kinds of people footage drone footage. They were like handle. The whole thing's ridiculous. They've been working really hard and then they took a red eye flights back. I believe over a saturday. Sunday to get back so that they can edit it. And so that. It's the video is going to be fantastic so yeah wednesday night eight pm behind the greens torrey pines. It's gonna be great if we're still going with that kind of like fight fem- to music too. Because i appreciate it the last time. Yeah when it was kinda like was almost like gladiator. I seen of gladiator. Where you're going into the uso legitimate battle between the golf course and all. I'm sure it's similar to that. Frankie is very involved in the music part. So i'm sure he made it. Good like fucking. Beethoven scores his own scores. His own teasers to the point where he is discussed setting up a little studio. I don't know where the officer at his house or whatever to like actually make the music or preposterous human being. He is but man behind greece and they do a great job so big credit to them and and yeah i'm excited to wash that I have to give a shout out to kevin stroman. Okay so kevin. Strong and bobby dinner on saturday night no way well. I had a couple of Friends that were invited me to This steakhouse for By d. and like a little nightcap which right near my apartment In scottsdale and i'd been out saturday with a couple of friends and i hadn't eaten dinner things. Got away me. i'm like i'm starring. Why don't you come here and get a bite. We'll have a train like all right. Well i get there and covers. Truman's there at the table who think we're closer to the creating the shirt potentially. Are you telling me the man of streel bought you dinner. It's a mandatory from mr mann. Himself it comes towards the end here. And i had been. They had finished their meals like an hour. Before i got there and i'm starving. Read the steakhouse. And i had a couple of drinks on feeling like loose and like pretty liberal with my funds and i'm like i'm gonna get a fillet mashed potatoes. And which is like seventy our labor right here. I'm gonna pay for good. Well then you know the check comes in there. He's like yeah. Just one like paying attention thing calms and i'd pull some cash out and i'm like oh let me pay because i think he's like no no. It's on me and i'm like no really i went. I ordered a preposterous meal. Yeah he's like no. I haven't seen he was super cool. I gotta just say something. Nice about me We were kind of laughing so chemistry bought one hundred fifty dollar dinner on saturday night. man of st doesn't any awareness of man of straw dude. No he pulled like sometimes just wearing a jacket with a t-shirt underneath and just opened it up interest. Or i would even like even if there's nothing under there but when he makes a big pot if he was like whoa cam newton that'd be awesome kind of thing and we get like men of israel shirts and follow them around. Maybe thursday done now. I think we have gone in town and get someone accustomed press a culture. That's easy right. We can do that. Super nice guy. I believe isis. They calm. I believe it. Yeah he so big thanks to him. That's what a story the manaf shrill does that regular better and better dinner for like an hour and a half our newly at something to super friendly kind of like a sneaky You know dry quiet little sense of humor but pretty funny And just super friendly a he was great. I want him on the show. Get them on. Okay yeah we'll definitely get on. I'll tell you this. I think there's a good chance that on thursday show that people will hear from the man of steel. That's go we can make that app. That is exciting home. Some exposure now or cyber. Bobby didn't okay now. We've talked people long enough but what they really came to the show for. Was trent on the last episode of four. Play golf podcast. By partial sports sponsored. By owens trent crafted a direct message to Very popular player on the pga tour rickie fowler. Which is his stalemate. Yeah yeah stablemate. Pregnant which is his stablemate and And you just it out in show business fashion He has responded. I will reveal what he said. I don't under- notice show so exciting. Well yeah because we we all crafted this together. Because what i had said was i want. It was for selfish reasons which most decisions are made. But i wanted ricky fowler to on when i break one hundred when i break one hundred. I want to be congratulated. By my stablemate ricky fowler. Because i thought. I thought that'd be really cool. That'd be really nice and you would congratulate him if he were to say golf tournament right and that's kind of where we got to where it was like you guys. Then ask me like we'll have you ever said. Hey congratulations on all of your success or anything like that. And i said no and maybe we should damn him right now. Let's craft it together so we did that. I'm gonna here's the original. What did you say ricky fowler. Yeah said hey stablemate. I put john tiller. Imprint sees tough on this week but we have things trending in the right direction. Loved what we saw at the pga and the memorial. We got this man. Let's keep this thing rolling hash tag till gang which the hashtag till gang was a trent creation that you floated by us that we had initial shock reaction but ultimately all agreed absolutely great hashtag. "Anything. H- how much are you guys monitoring that. Yeah we'll look a couple of years ago we We built a player. Relations team led by jason gore. Which you guys think. No you've met him Great guy you was on the tour. Actually he tried to qualify for the us open this year in dallas and i think was pretty close It well it just had what is knees. Replacement hip E- add some sort of yadda was. Yeah but so great guy and he you know he's he's he's he knows the players he it was a player so he's just having conversations that we frankly just didn't have before so he's you know he's taken on board that feedback and you're seeing it incorporated in terms of the player experienced this week and course set up other things. And so you know 'cause trends hero famously said you law well yeah i mean you. Guys are clearly setting golf. Courses to put zach nelson at a disadvantage. I don't know if you want to address those allegations today. But i mean that's clearly happening on an annual basis. That's a great question. Thank you for that one you do you. Oh i got question. You guys have a dartboard with zach johnson face on around the office. Wow well he he's not watch topgun. True sh The listener should know that. But you and jake bass. I've never seen dr. When you're miramar we're near the top gun base which i didn't know you said right out there. There's where goose unfortunately passed. I don't think many people would know that though. Well especially not a guy who hasn't done like yourself mir be right there. Do you have a leather jacket. I once did. I don't even really yeah. People probably don't realize you're belgian routes. I did live there for a few years. Yes yup thank you. That's kind of cool. I dig it. I think it's a great country so overall we're feeling feeling good about the way we do. Thanks for All right taylormade golf. You know we were just talking a little bit about testing. You're talking about equipment. Well we went and got fitted we went and got the best equipment that there is in the world of golf. Thanks to our friends at tailor made the into is such a weapon. And the best part about the damn thing that i've been that. I've been noticing on the feedback on the on. The responses that i get is the sound of it sem to sound no matter how you actually hit it no matter where you actually hit the thing. Sounds like you just hit a three hundred forty yard. Missile down the middle. Every what did they say when we visited the kingdom. How many sound engineers do they have. Eleven my favorites. It's so cool. It's really thought of everything with that. Club eleven levin's preposterous. How do you not just land on ten or maybe you could have done it with three. Maybe yeah eleven. Sounds way but like i love the dan. Eleven has a tailor-made athlete. But they could have pride on it with three but just think about like. If you're like the manager thing about human bandwidth had any hits they can hear a day and so know person can hear couple thousand hits of the golf club day. You do a thousand. Yeah that feels like possible. i'm. I'm also picturing them sitting in the waiting room like they're waiting for an audition where it's like. They're all just like sitting around looking at each other like. Are you a sound engineer. Like yeah sound engine. it's maija. Why are we all here. And it's like there's eleven of us here. Do you think they treat it like a jury where it's like you. Who of the is there like a hung jury and then going to go back to the lab. I think that's where i was going like. They'll listen to one sound. One driver hit the golf ball. Then they all provide their feedback. Really get some thoughts on paper and then they come back and all kind of owed close. It's gotta be it's gotta be one and then like oh he's really good sound energy here he really knows about low ball flight. Sounds up sound injured energy air. You said that those guys are lethal parcel. Sports dot com slash tailor-made. We have our own landing. Page that things about land. Hopefully because there'd be a little quieter land safely there's an amazing amount of raptors f. Twenty two's whatever you wanna call it. How much fuel that they go through no idea. Today's more than most. Maybe they're getting ready for some matori grandfather pilot. Would you like to know about it. I didn't notice how many there were until we started doing the podcast if we hadn't been doing something where they have the recording devices in front of us. I wouldn't realized it but as soon as we started recording. You hear a lot of them. Yeah i mean would say this is the safest place to play golf ya. Yeah bad guys are not gonna get a good place here bars. Sports dot com slash tailor made the tour response ball by the way is fantastic as well. I know it's summertime you going out. You're getting golf balls. Maybe you don't wanna spend the maximum amount you get. A golf ball is extremely high quality tour quality. It's called Response So partial sports dot com slash. Made all right gentlemen big. Thanks to craig dry adjoining we told the story of a few times on a few different mediums platforms of kind of how relationship with the us. Jay grew in there. Was that time when we were fighting with whitney about the match where The reason i brought that up because you know show to our our headline team we've had headline school marshall many times blogger. School will the headline team that day. That was doing the serious accent. Crushing i remember. I think he just text me and sent me a picture and it was just it just said the us and he's like man. I really thought we were pretty good. Buddy we've had our ups and downs but overall opposites just been a few years been click. I managed to back the relationship with zach johnson. Talk a little bit. He didn't want that one no he didn't know that was okay but i thought it was a great question because like yeah i mean to the public i. It's there longer harder and that's just way harder. It's harder for a boy kids. i mean. He gave honest feedback and being like. I can't win your work. i don't know what to tell you. "Of opportunity there. All right buying or selling your phil mickelson stock. He's back home in san diego this week. There's obviously going to be. You know as much hype as possible around. This guy does fill yemen. Yeah what do we think about. Fidel sell sell sell. Sell the guys stock shot through the roof a month ago and let similar to new to new neighbor. The course fit for phil does make sense. He's played well at touring the past san diego. Dude all the good vibes. He's probably playing the best golf in say the last two years. But that's just still not good enough man. This is a field of one hundred and fifty six people who all qualified through one avenue or another to be here so truly you know the pga championship likes to say it has the best fielding gulf but the us open has the most earned field in golf like the people that are playing well recently to come in year and burn the doors down. So phil is going to really have to work hard just to make the cut the advantage that might have worked for him at kiawah island with the wind being up him getting pretty good draw from from the weather. All that stuff is out the window. Now it's easy to forget about it. It's different here sell that stock. I'm selling with you. I think that Keo had a little bit more space off the tee in certain landing areas that i think phil was really able to strategize his way around that golf course. I just don't think there's going to be the same level of opportunity at torrey pines. I think he's more likely to miss the cut than he is to contend. I hope i'm wrong But that's the way i feel. Sean this is an honest podcast. Patrick reed the last man to win at torrey pines buying or selling. I'm buying read patrick. Reed has had a very good year and in this is exactly why as we said on the last podcast. He's going to be on that ryder cup team. He just finished in the top five at the memorial. He was in the top twenty at the pga championship. He's had a couple of top ten's since Since march so like the guy's playing good golf again. He's kind of avoided of know the drama. Maybe in you know 'cause there was a lot of drama following him at the beginning of twenty one and the beginning of twenty twenty and just like twenty twenty. He started to slip back through the cracks and people start. Start forgetting about him and he's a top ten player in the world. That's.

"But there's just no indication right now of who is going to actually do that. It is incredibly bizarre. That the favorite is someone who's never wanna major the favourite hat a major. Someone who's never won a major. That doesn't happen. Like i know. We've we've talked about this and majors of the past maybe twelve months or so that It feels like it's up for grabs. That's okay that's not abnormal that it's up for grabs that it could be any one of five to forty guys. But what's abnormal. Is that the guy that is expected to contend someone who's never wanted to major and frankly has never really contended in a major now granted. This is the cover Athlete the cover player of our june. Us open preview. It's jon rahm like he is someone who we should reasonably expect. But he hasn't gotten it done so it feels like we are at a very abnormal place. Where the most expected player is someone who hasn't won a major and then the next most maybe zander. He also hasn't won a major. Yeah you know the next next man up is probably brooks koepka. Who missed the cut last week because he couldn't hit a putt. You know anywhere near the whole so like the next person that everyone wants to talk about. Is phil mickelson. Fifty years old and had probably the most ridiculous major victory outside of tigers masters win in the past decade. So like i want to basically say exactly what you said. We are at an incredibly weird spot. We are just a weird weird spot. One of the biggest things is this brooks bryson storyline. Whether you're into it or not whether you are you know like this. Pseudo feud or don't really care now. They're going to play golf and they are according to vegas chance of doing well this week. If you were to pick one of the two guys who would it be who's gonna finish higher on the leaderboard I told myself now. Since keila i will cook. Oh picked brooks kept you to win every major for the next twelve months. So that's the answer. I don't like it though. Because this is the exact gulf course that brayson thrives on. We've kind of said that bryce and should play well at augusta. His true bombing ability putting abilities should perform. Well there just hasn't but this course torrey pines.

"He was mr lips on the back. Nine i thought he was going to win the tournament. He wasn't even close. So i mean garrick. Twenty two years old south african kid. He's one of the european tour by and she's now going to probably play exclusively on the pga tour. That's how these things go. He's now ranked inside the top forty in the world even though he's probably not a forty top forty player to be brutally honest. But it's good for him. It's fun to have young players. Play well but this was a small field. So let's stop talking about all right. Yeah you sound less than enthused about the inaugural palmetto championship. Let's move to the west. Probably probably the only palmetto championship. This was supposed to be the canadian open. I missed the canadian open. Let's get to the west coast. What do you got for us in the us. Open well honestly. I don't feel ready for this major championship. I don't. I don't know if we've built in enough time between the pga championship in the us. Open so funny because at one point in the not too distant memory where like this is going be perfect. We've got one big event every single month. We've got the master's in the pta and then the us open and the british open. But gosh this it felt like the phil mickelson. Victory hangover lasted longer than normal. And we haven't really you know the memorial kind of ended very oddly. I think we'd baby maybe be a little more hype for jon rahm this week if he was actually able to finish that event and a victory to his total so it definitely feels kind of weird. I think completely honest like people. Would maybe a little more hyped by different. Us open venue. We saw this course five months ago. And i don't think again being a bit brutal here. I don't think a lot of people. Love torrey pines. Now this is a positive podcast. We're going to be optimistic this week but it's a. It's a brutal golf course. The rough is gonna be long as hell. We've seen some videos already that but to me. It just really feels like it's cut from that. Us open cloth of you. Have to hit the ball as far as you can and hack it out of the rough and that's probably going to be good enough to get on these greens and whoever puts well and drives. Well will win much like bryson last year. Who was first Instructs gain off the tee. And then i in strokes gained on putting so like you dr best. You put it best. You'll probably win. Us open the thing about the that. I think is strange about this week. Is you know and you can tell us looking at the odds page. No one knows who the hell's supposed to win this golf tournament. Jon rahm is like the consensus favorite. Because you know played well at the memorial. He's got great course history the that the farmers playing at torrey pines in the past but look when tiger won here in two thousand eight. I don't know exactly the odds going into the week but probably close to even it was probably close to tiger versus the field. Maybe you is as high as plus two hundred or something this week. We have jon rahm. Who's tend to one. We have no one else better than sixteen to one. Everyone is just kind of thrown in that general. Jumble of yeah that guy's pretty good it could see him playing. Well they're brooks koepka bryce into shambo. Dj speeds zander. Rory is like being slept on justin thomas and you know there's these guys that we know are really good that we wouldn't be surprised if they did play well..

Athletes write 10,000 letters to California Gov. Gavin Newsom urging him to help them play

"Koga News center, high school athletes and California delivering 10,000 letters to Governor Newsome tomorrow, asking him to lift the ban on youth sports. Let them play Coalition says three million athletes in California are ready to go and run. Glad Nick the football coach, Torrey Pines in San Diego. So they have the backing of the National Federation of State High School Associations. The NFC chest has dropped the tier system. So our California tier system for sports was based on the N F HS system, and they came out last week and said the peer system doesn't work. So the governor now has a lot of latitude to do what he needs to do to make this happen. And I believe that What they're working towards God and seeing the state recently dropped a ban on athletes and coaches practicing for multiple sports or teams. At the same time, a possible sign that returned to play is near. Jack Quinn

Golf's Biggest Winners of 2020

"All right. Sean it has been quite the year. it's not over. I'm not saying it's over. But i am saying we're here to get ahead of all those year end lists of winners losers best of we're tackling it midway through november where we winners this year. Did we win. I'm not confident that we were. There was a moment in the middle of september where you hung out with bryson into shambo after. He warned the. Us open lumberton potato. The me i'm gonna finish that offers a little bit pizza or game. We proceeded to miss a flight about six hours later. Yup and yet we were somehow still able to make it. Torrey pines south and talk to a bunch of the best golfers in the world in the next twenty four hours. Is the drop zone peaked. In twenty twenty. I think we had to peak. Then you the major winner. We go to play the next. Us open course at sunset. We have a great little afternoon at torrey pines. And then we hang out with zander and burger and morikawa and just korda the next day. And so yeah. That's where that's where we won. That's a really strong point. We didn't we didn't get to perform on the course as much as we like to in a typical year. But hey we're we're not really here to bring our golfed the people it's not about us you know who it's about it's about patrick. Reed patch agreed is by far one of the biggest winners of twenty twenty. All right start off years number one winner. Patrick reed defend yourself is one of the biggest losers of twenty nineteen. You'll remember that. He got stuck in some bunker fiasco in december of two thousand nineteen and we thought that it was gonna follow him alone for the entire year is is is swinging. You thought that people are gonna continue yelling at him while he was playing like. They did during his playoff in hawaii. David ferte call him. Captain oblivious which i thought was a great little nickname. Peter costas was telling people. I've seen patrick reed improve his lie in the rough numerous times and yet here we are twenty twenty. And we don't even do anything about this. We joke about it. We don't care about it. Patrick reed one in mexico. He contended i think you can say he contended at the. Us open he missed one cut after the restart. He's a winner this year. Because we don't care about what happened in past. This is where the phrase bigger fish to fry comes in our biggest problems.
