Will the Boston Bruins Ever Fix Their Power Play?
"Those practices that burns will have, I imagine a large portion, it's going to be devoted to fixing that power play, just because it's been stuck in a rough way for a long time, I think since April 8th, the Bruins have six total power-play goals and four of them have come from Craig Smith. And and another one is kind of stupid crazy. I mean, you can make the case. You like just from the I test that the second unit has looked a lot better than the first for a long, long time now. So they have to do something to to get that first pulp a unit rolling. Whether it's worth switching a Personnel or Bruce Cassidy is always identified troubles with entries as being a thing that's really going to hurt that top power-play unit over the last month. So I think they've got to really kind of fix that and not make it be you know I don't think you want you expect you to jump from where it is right now to all Cynthia not top three unit again right. I don't think you're going to have that whether it's just like it's not the cards at guys on exit game. I'm gonna Torey Krug. Yeah, yeah, exactly. I don't think either you're going into it. Expecting them to cash in on, you know, thirty percent of their chances, but you're still need more than the output. You're getting off. Because I think you know, right now the Bruins is, the deadline are outscoring teams at even-strength 37 to 15, which is crazy. It's crazy that there there's going this many of the 2011 Bruins now, where it's like, wow, they're, you know, they're dissecting teams on even strain for them to hopefully, kills, all the momentum. Pretty much been the case for a month now. So if you even get that power-play back to, you know, 20% over this this long stretch, it goes a whole a long way. Especially in the playoffs, in terms of Just Landing more punches against the opponent's. So I think in terms of x's and o's power plays probably stands out the most to me. Yeah.

"Whole year to play together and they're going to be consistent you this chemistry and I think even getting just Craig Smith gives you that consistency where you're not, you know, definitely slipping pieces. You can for sure say coil and Smith will beat you out of the whole year and you know, I'm on the left side all that stuff. So should be very interesting. And as you said things are probably going to accelerate it would be awesome for the Bruins to get Taylor Hall just from a Content perspective just from how interesting. I think it would be dead. I think for fans, you know you fans listening. I mean, I think it would and I don't I don't have to sell anybody on Taylor at all. I feel like I'm selling people on the idea of Taylor and all but I really think it would be so interesting and I think it would reject this Bruins team over the top potentially much better chances against Tampa Bay and that second round especially if you're losing Tyler Johnson. Yep, kind of a big thing. I was most reasonable wage and like these movies are going to be happening now. Oh, I forgot by the way. Yes, Torey Krug was right. I mean. Sweeney was right choice was right to say screw, you know Tori kroge like that. That is that the ultimate the ultimate take is people who are like, I know the animal Antics won't going Frank Frank Smith or something, but he's not Mike Hoffman. I'm like, he's better than my coffin you idiots. Like Torey Krug is a trainer. If you can't beat them join them like that is dead. Funny how people being like groups of snake toward Kruk. I'm done with Tori Cruise have a contract off. He has you dummy what dude he's a human being. He's trying to make money the bruising even offer anything let the man be I hope to work groups was a hundred goals and went to Stanley Cup every year. That's st. Louis directions. Yeah now so much same style pizza now, that's so that's the one try. That's a real tragic novice. He has to get that bootleg ass pizza. That's funny that like him in Robert Thomas were tweeted each other. Yeah, just like that hit was so busy and just so humiliating for Robert Thomas. Like that's not something that you can just like tweet away. That's like funny now like you you you got your manhood taken away from you on that head like you aren't a u are not a human being anymore. Yeah, but definitely interesting but lots of crazy stuff Connor before we go. What are you working on it yesterday that people can look forward to yeah. We're breaking down kind of gone. Sweeney's press log. Friends from from Saturday afternoon. We're looking ahead of what kind of the next steps are this seems like every day something new is going to be happening. So who even knows what's going to happen later tonight in terms of how this affects wage offseason because I think you see from the Craig Smith move in in, you know, if you're looking at the lens of just this contract it's great. "This is where you are going to, you know, live out your life for seven-plus years. I'm very surprised that he didn't consider Saint Louis before and it sounded like the decision was made. Holy on winning and to me I look at that and I say were you really ready to go. Louis? Like are you sure you wanted to do this? Because part of me thinks now, I'm not saying staying with the Bruins, but I do wonder if you done research into Saint Louis cuz didn't sound like you did. It did not sound like they were ready to go to Saint Louis and it just sounded like maybe I'm wrong and it's his decision, but it kind of sounded like it was very impulsive not leaving the Bruins. I think that was always off like we all said he was gone but choosing st. Louis sounded a little impulsive. I mean, it's I think it's one of the situations right where it seems like it wasn't on his radar. He mentioned that and then you look at the options, right? I mean if he prioritized winning and getting a fair deal in the Bruins game, let's say they offered that six six and a half million dollar contract. I'm what are your what are your other options that you want to go to Detroit and make sense from the perspective of you know, he knows Jeff blashill. He's from Michigan and makes a lot of sense but like that team's not turning things around and not you know, another year to you want to go to Columbus who has a bunch of cap space but that team, you know could be good. But like, you know, it depends on how you like Tortorella. It's not a big Market. It's not the way most happening place in the NHL and not saying Saint Louis's we already have a friggin podcast or we roasted Saint Louis for the first ten minutes of it. But and even st. Louis, you know, it's his team still on the up-and-up. I mean, they've got really good pieces but joining Bennington didn't really have a good year. They're going to lose Fortran jalloh. They signed that horrible contract for Justin fog that France why they can't keep the trans hello, but you'll get all those options and if the Bruins have that offer still on the table, I bet he would have taken it because it seems like regardless of who signing contracts. Everyone's either taking short-term deals or they're taking contracts phone number. Over the market value like we were pietrangelo signs with you know, he might just end up getting eight million seven and a half million or something like that when he could have probably gotten 9 and 1/2 thousand and ten and a half if there's a normal year and I think for you know, people are saying that Torey Krug, you know, he turned down that, you know, 6 6 and 1/2 6 years 6 and 1/2 million dollar contract last year..

"Podcast. I'm Aronofsky alongside Conor Ryan of Boston Sports Journal Connor. And do we have anything to talk about today? I don't think we do. I really don't know. I mean maybe in just I don't know the weather the weather's nice outside 77 talk about. Yeah, I don't know. I watched you watching anything on T recently been to The Sopranos on HBO show or something like that or more more A Better Call Saul Now, I actually haven't gotten around to seeing better car a big Breaking Bad Guy, but it's haven't gone around people said it was kind of slow down to get around. Okay, you know will cut the shit. Yeah. No, there's there's a lot, you know, there's a lot going on there's quite a bit. And so by the way of Shadow me new new Mike. I hope you have some better or look better with age. Right in front of me now. It's not off to the side. This was $60 more. It's like supposedly the best Mike that can be plugged into your MacBook. So I was like hell yes sure, centers are thrilled shake it off, but I sound like an angel sound like first sex with Jesus. Yes friends a lot of stepbrothers references by the way on Twitter lately we get to that second. Yeah, so lots of stuff Bruins free agency the first half of day one was nothing there was nothing. I mean the TSN show they were grasping at straws to talk about you can only talk about or kind of Carousel enough. Yeah. They were they were really doing projects for the 2022 Olympics are projecting the Canadian teen. I was like, they're going to start doing like twenty twenty six to one point of they're going to keep on rolling with it tough tough day for content for the rest of the NHL. But Kevin Miller re-signs wasn't that big a thing but then our antennas popped up when the Bruins moved Sweeney's presser back from 5 p.m. Until 6 a.m. Saturday at 1 we thought it was much bigger. They have reportedly offered Taylor Hall a short-term three-year deal. But Torey Krug were all probably settling in for a nice fun Friday night. Whatever you decide to do whether you stand whether you go out and social justice, whatever it is who's probably cut in half like ours where when it around 8:00 Elliott Friedman tweeted out croup Saint Louis down all wet. What so what was your initial reaction to that? Very interested to hear this? Yeah. I think when the news broke that he was leaving. I don't think I think pretty much all of us were in the same boat that we thought he was going to go elsewhere and get a significant deal Saint Louis being the one to offer him that that came as a surprise. I think I don't think I really expected them to sign him considering, you know, the fact that st. Louis seem like they're still in the running for pietrangelo. They had money already tied up with a guy like Justin Faulk dead. So it came as a big surprise and I think even pietrangelo was I think pretty shocked by it too. It seemed like he was going to make the rounds and then probably come back to Saint Louis and I think as it progressed, I you know, we went from a situation where you know, Krug leaves and most of us were expecting to do it. Anyway, so you already kind of you know half way out the door of like, you know, congrats congrats improved for, you know, getting a you know, getting the bag and earning that contract that he definitely deserves been here that we wanted to team like Saint Louis which you know, I'm sure sours a lot of Bruins fans, but the fact that it seems like the issue is with the Bruins just.

"But you got a legitimate one win away from up. Shit third-line that's shutdown crew that generates good scoring chances. They're on the ice for a lot of goals and they're doing doing that Steven Stamkos and they're doing student Stamkos now granted they were already better than you. They were already better on paper than you were they were before the deadline but the device was your chance to go out and acquire guys that would make help you be better and the Bruins were in on Blake Coleman I believe now. They got beat for it. But again, Kyle Palmeri would have been better You know they could have done more. They could of an did a lot in two, thousand, nineteen they went out. They got Charlie coyle. It's an off the board pick Johannesen. WASN'T A. Compile. Exactly, and so you know. They should have been more creative with what they did. Nick Ritchie's name was not thrown around a lot cautious was cautious kind of predictable. What they did there richie wasn't that came out of left field completely when that happened. And screwed up because Richie was just not guy. So obviously, like hindsight's twenty twenty and all this like we're talking. I would stomach it so much more with crew leaving and like how things evolved. If don kind of went out and like said Hey, we're going for it. You what I mean like I haven't gotten that feeling from Don's meaning a long time and like I said, Hindsight's twenty twenty. But like you would stomach a copper on like twenty nineteen like going out swinging. If you had those guys I get like for the future whatever you don't want to give up a ton of assets but it's just like it's just the state of the bruins right now they have nothing to show for it I mean they're one in three in. Stanley Cup finals in the last. Decade. So it's like it's tough to swallow wool. There's two reasons it's one because the date suites always emphasize that kind of middle ground like we're planning for the future, but we're trying to win the present and that's great in the regular season but it's not in the postseason and on top of that what scares me is I think they did go all in on this year. I, do think they thought caution which would be enough they I think they really thought they were going to be pieces that solidified the puzzle and they were ready to face Tampa on that sector out and. I mean the pandemic didn't help them but the DEMOC didn't help control and Coleman either and that worked out. Fine. It. Is kind of alarming that they thought that caution we're going to be enough and I think that's why you have the sentiment coming from now of like. Redo need to look at this roster more closely because I do think that you know they came in with technically worst work technically worse roster this year because Johnson had left. Right. So And all the charge had left thirty goal scorer Nola charring or twenty four no, which is so. Insane. What Wild I've that all? No. Honestly I was so happy to see him just thriving down in Florida. I mean what a guy great for him. Bruce could use Gorno but madge rory hooking up with no charge in. Florida. They're saying right happened and they're also Montreal has been thrown around I. mean all if I see Tory Crew Montreal Jersey my God I don't know what? Suck. It'd be awful. But at any rate dissociates is going to be wild crews definitely gone It's very interesting to see what they do Marie before let you go. "NHL free you no one wants to touch over thirty free agents wants to touch these older guys who want rightfully. So their money potential once Roman Yosi, like money through what's a ton of money Taylor halls get a presumably want a ton of money. But if you if you haul on a one year deal. You know try one year deal hell yeah. I mean Jesus that's legit. Top Six guy problem. With Hall is he's not your top left wing that's marshawn and marshlands making you know six, six, point one to five I think which is. Still at a half not the best message though, right then give an outsider like hall eight, million potentially and having to your second line left. So I think they preachy I think David great to say yes to that. Creates Sediment and I think Marshall said I think the whole team would say, yes to that but I do think it's a little odd with the way the money goes. Giving him that but he deserves it also would help your team out a ton so. I think Paul would be very worthwhile investment if it short term if it's short term. Yeah. The only thing. That's like good I guess in scenarios at all teams are on this boat like the the cap is flat for everyone else I mean there's a couple of teams who like need to get to the floor Ottawa. Detroit has some cap space like so there's other teams struggling. So I wonder if the market kind of stalls a little bit because teams will be more hesitant. Obviously, you're always going to have a team be like on works going to throw money at him because we have it but I think it'll be interesting to see. I'm not sure if players will be flying off the shelves, come October ninth like right away because of the the actual cap sink flat. So I wonder if the bruins maybe have some leeway to like, Hey, like if this doesn't work out, we'll go here like if this doesn't work out, we have a back..

"PEDROIA. Just, absolutely, you know alleged here. And again you said it this makes that Twenty Nineteen Cup loss that much worse because this guy would have not only had the COP but hit on Robert Thomas would be you know. It'd be in Boston or same with Charles playing through broken job but crew Robert Thomas I mean it'd be statues of it. There'd pictures in bars there it would be incredible and and that loss. He doesn't get that and he it stinks because he should have got there are two things it would have been awesome to see him getting Boston. AQAP. In money and right now, the Bruins are not in a position to offer him a long-term deal with that kind of money because he's in that weird crew that's not the veteran corps and is it the next generation near the Veteran Corps Berge on marshawn Chara Krejci Rask's, and then you have the younger core of mcevoy posture knock debrosse. End Cruise kind of in the middle and you saw coils the same age or close to it, and they only gave five years. This past year. Crude wants more as he should, and he wants way more money that they could give him as he should. Go, get it somewhere else go get the bag somewhere else and go win somewhere else because I don't think I. Don't think by year four, five I don't know if the bruins are still going to be contenders in the same way they are now. So I think going somewhere else. it's good for my back right in. It's definitely going to be interesting to see what the Bruins do this off season because it sets the stage for years to come like art. Are we going to kick the can and like say, Hey, we're gonNA, go younger like we've had our last. Real chances at a cup run like. These guys are getting older, maybe deal create G or are you GONNA go reverse option? Are you going to get crazy some help? Are you going to try and expand this window because I'd hate to say it but the window is closing these guys are getting older who knows who is going to be back like so it this off season is really gonNa tell me what Don Sweeney believes in you'd like to see crazy get some help I..

"Thing. Not only are they big into football obviously as I just said But. What's ironic is they've already released the. The odds for next season's Stanley Cup in the bruins coming forth they their odds are plus twelve hundreds of you believe the Bruins are GonNa become favorites and you believe they're going to win the Stanley. Cup now might be the time because the odds might be at there at the at the best to make money on right now. So bruins plus also the Patriots are doing well. So maybe you want to go put about on them for the Super Bowl. So. Yeah. Tell Him I sent you. Without further ADO here's my conversation with Marina Mar.. And.

"Oh, well just put in John Moore or something like that will put in you know, maybe her whole back nine is ready, which doesn't seem like whoa, get off line up. I mean, yeah, you're right you're and it's funny. You mentioned the the power play with Grizzly compared to groom not granted. 51 Broome stats treated us five power-play groups looking pasta. Only again 72 minutes time on Ice goes for over 60 of 12.3 crugen pot Chrome strike. Oprah's like obviously a lot more time calls for ten point across from 460 to 10.3. So to me, you add all those and you also add in the fact that cruise contract is not going to be like four years again. They're not going to get away with giving this guy another for you Jule. This guy wants cashier and he's right. He should cash in I think crude absolutely one-hundred-percent deserves a long-term deal. I just don't think it's in the Bruins best interest to do that or to be that team. I think that's for like a Red Wings. I think that's going to be the team that ultimately scoop them up, but you're going to have that deal for you know, let's say seven or eight years the deal for for that amount of time. As we're seeing now in a big topic obviously is this veteran core your cream cheese your version runs. Your marshawn's your chars. Your Rask's don't have a lot of time left. We. Charl was done now he is dead. But you don't you have a limited window I would say about maybe to potentially three years with Bergeron. Krejci. It means says your suggestion. After that, what is your future, you know, we'll get later in the show get to the younger guys start hitting that, you know when they're going to kind of start to come through. But if you're if you're rebuilding or retooling about four or five years and you still have an eight-year eight million dollar deal from Torey Krug on your on your contract on your your books. Who's 34 35 years old. I mean, you're not going to want that like that. We're look back and go especially if they don't want a cup like let's say resign up to an eight year million dollar deal and they don't win the cup with him then it's like well, this was a bust. What was the point of this month? So and it already isn't looking like they're going to be winning the cup next year or the year after they'll contend but it's hard to sit here and say, you know, they'll definitely do it unless they take Cruise money back and retool. So again, you could you know, I was looking at. I'm not an expert on these free agent defensive and but someone like TJ Brodie out in Calgary or Sammy botman is a good option as well Brenton Dylan song, you know, you could also take some money to three million dollars put it in the bottom six find a good solid third-line left-winger for Charlie Coyle or or or maybe this is kind of a crazy idea find someone if it's better with David. Krejci. Don't really would that be praising strategy. The most bold but so in Kasha might fit there who knows watch Kasha come back next year in school. Like forty goals. It won't be like, oh my God, look at what the pros were missing last year. Yeah, but I do think that it is and I think you're seeing a shift among Bruins fans and longer as media because I think we all were on the re-signed to recruit train..

"Back to the Bruins. Beat down the honest media. My name is Evan Miller. I hope you guys are having a fabulous week this week on Bruins beat. We are discussing Bruins exit interviews. Usually a very depressing time because usually it's we're doing exit interviews. Then we enter into a long summer of nothing now, we're entering into a fall of potentially nothing the season supposed to start November 17th, at least for training camp. It's a tentative start which is always a very bad sign when it says tentative because it's probably not going to be when it starts and there's most I think Gamers. September 1st, whatever it is. We really don't know what this offseason holds except for the fact. It's probably going to be pretty freaking crazy. And if he's exit interviews have showed you anything. It is that it is going to be freaking crazy. And so, Ryan from Boston Sports journal and I discussed all the eggs interviews, especially to recruit because I think he's done here. But but I've had a change of heart on Torey Krug residing in Boston. So you'll get a different perspective which I think you'll you'll you might come around to you might give me crap for it. You might say Evan you're insane, but I think it's something different and I think it's something you're going to have get used to because it's going to probably happen. I know we're just getting to some other team related things before we get into the conversation. The wait is finally over and not for the first B conversation. That'll be in a second. But football is back. You might not be at a game this year, but you can still be in on the action up that online but online is going the extra mile to make sure you can get in on everything imaginable this season from game spreads and totals to team player and coaching props that online gives you more options to wager than any place on line. "Like they they've their numbers like don't tip at all. If anything to even better. It's a smaller sample size of course, but I think when you still have those Talent up front and you give cause like a, you know, an asset roll, we're just hanging on that blue line, you know getting shots from you know, the high slot which we scored in the last regular-season game, you know, he was replacing crude. They're against Philly on March 10th way back when and you know years ago. Yeah exactly. So I think he's still brings a value their wage Is of I think you can still roll out a really strong powerful even with a gal acrylic and again, it's opens the opportunity both for him and for McEvoy to get more minutes on the power play Faith, as you know, mcavoy's you're you know future of your blue line, you know, he does a little bit of everything. There's one thing he probably hasn't excelled in yet. It's probably, you know, running a power play and it's mostly because that top palpak so good. They don't really roll them out there. So I still think you're in pretty good shape special teams wise 5.5 I think is where we have to talk about rights a little bit more dicey in terms of just who you're going to replace that those twenty-plus suck kruga logs every night. Yeah to me and you said it best. There's not a huge drop off on the power plane. I don't think there will be when grzelcyk goes on to it. You could also you said put Mac for out there, but I feel like one thing we're going to see next year is gross looking McAvoy in roles that are more enhanced that helped them both a little bit more, you know with Chris Brown. With Krug on he would probably be the the next guy up to that first power play and you could always try McEvoy. So that's another option where McEvoy kind of gets us play enhanced. And also you bring back which charendoff says he wants to come back. I think I think that's the right move. I think just reassigning him to a one-year, you know, 1 million 1 and 1/2 million dollar deal is a no-brainer wage is no way the Bruins put him on the first pairing anymore. You should be a third parent defense and we'll get to that a little bit but then you also let McEvoy be with Grizzly most likely and that's a Duo that is great on the back. All the numbers have shown that so I think you're going to start see Dem next year's going to be a huge year for development for both of those guys you hope don't lose Chris like to Seattle. I think of crude goes you probably wouldn't put quiz like up for the Seattle draft. But all of that is stuff that we will get you in a little bit first corner. I know you want to talk about that us the great people about wage. U.s..

It was a you know, soccer player but like in regular happy, they found me and he like had surgery and like took like an hour, you know, it's just like they put something like a little tiny thing through and like cauterize like one like, you know centimeter. You're all good to go. It's crazy. I think she said his surgery was five hours. Should I catch that was I think maybe using a saucer or five hours which like sounds a good day at the hospital cuz usually waiting like nine hours so but I might get some preferential treatment. I think maybe the hockey player in Toronto. Yeah might do it. But so the big news of the the exit days was you have Torey Krug basically complete depression. No chance he's coming back and feels like and you have to say no Chara on the other end of it. Who's like, what are you talking about? I gotta ask that question like 5 minutes after the game table. I didn't have my mind made up then but I do want to come back. I want to keep playing so we'll hit each in their own segment. I feel like the Torah cruises bigger. So we'll start with that Krug all year as the year has gone off the chances of crude coming back are lower and lower and lower and now it feels like it's pretty much done. Some crew wants to get paid completely once you've paid and rightfully sewn. No rules don't really have the cap space for it. There wasn't a lot of contact throughout the year. According to Krug. We'll talk to Sweeney this week. It should I think the exit interviews for management is this week, I think I'd be sweetie and nearly I don't know about it. Maybe the Jacobs too, but I don't think so much for that whole debacle. I don't think that'll be happening, but we'll see but but what did what did you make of Victoria Cruz stuff? Yeah. I mean, think when you know, you listen to them on on Thursday, it seemed like kind of you know so long You know hoping maybe something has worked out but you read kind of the writing on the wall just in terms of the fact it was no contact or kind of you know, his stance of you know, someone mentioned, you know, the willingness and maybe to take you know page deal or you know, another two or three year deal or something like that. It's let you it's been doing that like almost his entire career right like you signed his ELC then like because the Bruins in such cap hell and liquid 1415 e x a one year deal for like one point seven million or something like that like below market and then another one year deal and then he finally gets his like payday and it's what a full year contract like 5.8.

"It's I'm so happy. We're here for the second show off. You know, I'm glad to be here and how you doing. I'm doing well. I'm glad that this didn't get canceled after the first episode that we made a second episode. We we didn't get sent back to the HLF to one game where we're ready to roll. We're safe. We had a trek Frederick like debut with a we may not be saved me and we might be like the pedestal Erica podcast and get like send back down. So we gotta keep it rolling just a lot of classic up with like David. Krejci's. Oh maybe he's like a future top six left or right winger. This is gonna be the finally breaks out like plays like seven shifts the next game. Yeah. It doesn't play the 3rd. Then suddenly his back in prominence just like a game. The average things so hopefully we don't go to our Slovakian news sources and rip the Bruins cuz it might be it might be for us. Yeah, I might do that but you might not have to good home. So obviously this week this past week was Bruins exit interviews earlier than I think we expected them to be but nevertheless they were there many that day. It was just one after the other after other after the other usually exit interviews in person are everyone's available in the locker like you just go from like stall to stall to stall for like 3 and 1/2 hours and it's always interesting because you get to an injury rundowns and it's like always impressive the list of just like tons of injuries this year. There were some injuries but mainly there weren't a large solely because they only played like for a month. Yeah, and again, it wasn't like, you know, thankfully these guys had you know, three full months to kind of rest any injuries they had so by the time they started up again. It was more a month. The either the wear and tear or stuff that we had pre already well aware of like, you know, Bruce Cassidy said that David pastrnak doing with that lower body injury. It's like yeah, if you watch those games you clearly knew something was bothering him, right? You know, he did admit that he didn't have it. He didn't suffer that injury during that celebration was earlier in the game, but it was like the only real you know major revelation we had in terms of you know stuff that we already were expected was going to happen in terms of injuries. You didn't have like, you know last year John Moore was playing with like a separated shoulder. And yeah, I know military had like a cracked sternum. He was the craziest one cuz I don't I've never heard of someone playing through like a cracked ribs, and that sucks like a cracked sternum like.

"Ring is GonNa look just as Nice. absolutely not If if you win this year, it's going to be just as much as if you want last year. If you win next year, the the process will be different. The world is different. In some respects, I might almost consider this more special. If you, consider the the things that the winning team is going to have to overcome shutting down the entire League for two or three months span. You know playing Stanley Cup playoff games theoretically in the months of August and September I might suggest it's harder to win this year than it is in other years I would not take a thing away from whatever team wins the Cup this year. See I think it will be a harder for team like the Bruins to win because you have all. These veterans were in a groove. who were who were you? Playing walls they were, and then you just stop them. You just stop and then you come back with. Yeah had. Sort of thing. And I understand. I might make the argument that one of the things we've talked about over the years here is. Holly. How do you by rest time for betrays Chiran for Sodano Charles? How do you make sure that they're healthy and ready to go in the Stanley Cup playoffs because they play so many heart minutes during the course of the season well. Got All the rest of you number one. you know they're going to be healthy. They're going to be ready to go. They're going to be arrested. I. Understand Brad's argument in yours. It's legit. I, the counterargument I might give is is is Patrice Bergeron ever GonNa feel better going into by off? Series said he will this year. That's the thing and the other thing is i. think this helps Rask. I mean. He said it was this morning. He hasn't been. He's been mentally Kinda getting his his Mojo back. The Passion was already there. You know 'cause you address retirement questions, but I feel like this will help his passion. It'd be helped here a little longer. Jail before you go. Is there anything you would like to plug I always? Ask you this I always. Like Nassar, I appreciate the offer. I am working on my second book right now. I'm willing to. Tell you who it's with yet. Because I'm not sure if he wants me to tell you, I will say that if you're a bruins fan. You'll like this book, and and that's all I'll say we. We've been working on it for a couple of months now and I've begun the process of writing at this stage, so The second book will be coming along, but probably not until sometime. Beginning of of the calendar year. Something like that we'll see. You told me last time you were just about starting a book as this. Is it easier to do a book right now? Because you've. Only. You don't have a lot of free time. If the show every day, so that that has adapt, but I still have I mean Mike Mike Commute went from an hour and a half a day. One Way to thirty seconds one way. I come down the stairs. I sit here in front of my picture at on my couch in the basement. so usually what happens? This was a day where we didn't have a call together, but usually. The person. I'm writing this book with and I get together..

"You two million more a year than the Bruins on and I'm just throwing numbers out here for the sake of discussion to bring you back to your home state. Do I wanna go back and begin the process of complete and total reboot re-build. which is what I think. The Red Wings are in the process of trying to do here. Knowing full, it's like when Damien. Woody won a super bowl with the Patriots and went out and signed a big money contract with the Detroit Lions. It already one hardy had his ring. He went out and got his money he got paid. But. Do you remember anything about what he's career? From the time he left here and went somewhere else now. and. You would think. And if you're Torey Krug. Rain here I understand that but. If, you get your money, but you're playing in Detroit. And they're in rebuild. How do you think your life's GonNa be your hockey? Life is going to be you know your your. Financial is GonNa be great, and that's all good, and maybe he wants to go luminaires, family and I understand that. But if you're talking about hockey. It's going to be walk. East you mentioned this. He's twenty nine to be around for rebuild like data I mean. Realistically the redwings aren't competing for another four years minimum I mean I. I think it's longer so you should be. WHAT THIRTY FIVE! When the red wings make the playoffs for the first time in his time there, let's just say signs. They're right back, i. mean what's your again using that? As an example? I'm not trying to suggest that's what he's doing. I'm just using that as the example. Now. And that's the thing and so the and I still somewhere else kings or another team that that that would have potentially the money for him there another rebuilding team again this off season aren't a lot of teams that have the the cap space that are good. The can sign him. I mean. Yeah, you can go get your money with the red wings, but the thing is, it's it's his hometown, and that is home stay. Home State, so that's sort of another thing you have to consider. The Red Wings are good, historically a good franchise, so they're. Six it's his home state. I'm not suggesting. Humpty organization. That's not my point. In a in a finite hockey career that Tori crew has. How. Much winning is he going to be able to do there?.

"I I. Know I've talked to Quinn about it I've talked to or about it their relationship long time after the hit was not very good, they had fought in sixty, eight, sixty nine bobby had fought quinn end of the regular season, and they fought early the next year after the head. At Bobby by the way could fight very well. Thank you very much. It was a lot better at it than a guy his size should be. And I know for a fact that for years. Their. Relationship wasn't very good bobby. Orr could carry a grudge just fine. Thank you very much, but ultimately they did bury the hatchet and Quinn's words they did ultimately come to some sort of a relationship. They ended up serving on the same Hall of Fame Selection Committee for the the NHL Hall of fame and their relationship in later years was was fine, but you know back then. You didn't. You didn't like teams. You've got some of that now. I'll agree with you. It's not as much which also play teens as my terry. How often do you play the Edmonton oilers to? Gin Up the the hatred and the ceiling. You know you've got Canadians. You've got you know. The the maple leafs that sort of thing but it. It's not the same league. No totally isn't and also I mean. There's more there's more talent concentrated back then meets. Were Dirk fewer teams teams to a European? Player pool to draw from that you have now. It's also true also had more. You've got more players to draw from internationally now than you did back. It's totally true all right, so we're already talking about good offensive left shot defensive. Why don't we talk about Tori crew? And so. Everyone's kind of wondering about his future I saw a pretty interesting article this week from Thai Anderson. Tidal is hey. Here's a wildcard of a solution Torey Krug situation I feel like maybe people were saying this and I was missing it, but it's so funny because I feel like the only two options that have been discussed crew cab. Ben Science your long term for a lot of money or signs elsewhere long-term for a lot of money, not much else. has been talked about but Anderson. Anderson Pretty much makes the argument for. Why not just a one year extension to get through this weird pandemic time where there isn't a lot of money, the salary cap would probably say that. to me I was like. Thought about idea, because then it's like then he can get his money at some point. The bruins will probably have a higher capped. Maybe pay him that money. At some point. I just want to hear your thoughts situation. Obviously the risk that the Tory crew would have to take here would have to do with you know injury. Go out there at some time in the next year, and you bought a knee or something God forbid. I think ties. Overall premises sound. All you have to do is look at the recent contract signed by Yaroslava a lot. And, he said you know given what's going on in the world You know I didn't want frag this thing out and wanted to get it over with. I could see some. I could see some interest on both sides. Look. Let's just let's just get a year out of the way we'll keep fighting at this thing. We'll keep plugging away at it. The difference here would be if the gap between the two sides is so significant that Don Sweeney and or Torey Krug say look. We're not closing this gap. We're not close into ear from now. We're not closing at five years from now. And I'm just throwing numbers out for the sake of discussion or four million dollars a year apart. What are we doing here? In which case if I'm Krueg I go get that long-term deal guarantees me injury. Protection and things like that..

"Of attention to Kinda just guy he was. And you know the way to build relationships and you know, and the days following into the kind of Guy Kobe in terms of now I was reading stories about how you know when you go, she the aid shell in the NHL his when he was with. He would go and you know I. Think they said that you or stay goodbye to every single employee NHL Happy to be in the moment, happy to be doing this for a living and was. Put in so much work to kind of get to this level you know cargo to. A long career for himself in pro hockey and You know I. It's just a tragedy. Look at just you know guy who is, so you know you so full of energy such a a positive influence. You generally appreciated the opportunity that he himself carved out for himself and know to lose a guy like that You know twenty five years old. You know it's just got married this past summer. I mean it's just an absolute tragedy on to say the least it's tough. Yeah I know it's terrible. You know, and I am one of the things you mentioned the leadership aspect every statement about him from the Bruins. Of The instagram posts and tweets mentioned how he was such a leader, and he carried himself that way. I mean this year just socks. I the twenty twenty is just terrible, and and obviously his death has nothing to do with eerily, but it's just. It's been such a rough year, and it's only April. And you know God. Bless the the cave family. And obviously we send our condolences to just just terrible news I mean really. Awful News and you know obviously gone way too soon. and yeah. I mean really had some serious potential there and the leadership aspect was very interesting to me. Especially there. So shifting gears a little bit here. The bruins have started having zoom media abilities. They had Torey Krug last week. They had don sweeney on Friday. They had rented Carlo on Monday. And then they just sent out an email. They'll have Charlie coyle on Wednesday. So, the interesting part was they had crew. Go I obviously the big question with cruise. What's up with your contract? Where are you at right now? He says they have not had any talks over this time of the pandemic. which I guess makes some sense. There's a couple more important things to worry about, but still they had not happened. Yeah. There's there's only a pandemic going on but there have been no talks talked about how he hopes. He has not played his last game as a bruin. John Sweeney came on Friday and said we hope the same. We just haven't found common ground yet. This, feels like a little turning point to me. This feels like a time. where I have thought it's been. A pretty good chance the entire time. That crew comes back. These comments. Kinda made me think there. There's a good chance he might not be back. Did you get that same feeling from the comments last week? Yeah I think it's one of those situations where I. You know I think in a perfect world they'd both. been crew wants to stay here. He's mentioned. Multiple Times that you can take a deal. You know of below his Michael Value for. Guy What he brings..
