"But I know it's going to be a probably a 150 hour investment, and that just is a little scary. I think the solution is to just play a little bit over a long period of time. Yeah. It seems to be the more finishing. We'll finish it in 2030. Perfect. What I heard is that whole the vignette section is like, that's the Viking part of the game, and then the next part is the assassin's part of the game. Interesting. And I was like, I was like, okay, I want to get to the assassin's point. But the Viking part is, I can parse too long. It's so long. Yeah, no, it's one of those things. I'm very curious about that. Obviously, that franchise is also in a little bit of a pause moment. They've been supporting Valhalla post launch for a couple of years now. And we've heard rumors, and they've talked a little bit broadly about what AC infinity might be. And it almost sounds like AC infinity is taking the episodic approach, but just building it into the way that game is going to be structured in terms of a platform that introduces new Assassin's Creed campaigns into it. And so yeah, I was thinking about it as I was playing or thinking about this conversation. I was like, man, I kind of want to go play the older ACs again, because they're longer, but they're more contained than the more recent ones. And I think there's a nice balance you can reach. But I was going to say, I didn't know about that for the infinity about the kind of piecemealing it out and releasing over time. I was going to say when we're talking about how your friend mentioned premier TV, I was like, that actually might be a good idea. Yeah. First Aston's great, it's just like, hey, every month, or every two weeks, here's the next 8 hours of quests. Almost kind of like how funnel fantasy 14 does it post launch post expansion. Yeah. I think that could work really well because I feel like I would be more apt to be like, okay, cool. I did everything that I can do right now. I can take a week off, go play whatever I want to play and then come back in a week or two and do the next large chunk and come back. And I guess we could do that ourselves and self govern ourselves to do that, but it's a lot harder. I don't know, maybe I just have ADHD when it comes to playing these open world games and I'm like, I'm like, oh, I need fur from this goat. So I gotta go hunt these goats now because I need to upgrade my base or whatever. And then I get lost doing other stuff. I'm like, oh, there's a side quest here. And then another side quest. And then you're doing a million side quests and you're not progressing anything. Yeah. Meaningful at least to the story. I think to that point, it's a little bit of the way we were brought up on this series. As people who played it from the start or even jumped in, maybe sometime later, bounced in and out. I think it's something that it was a different expectation that I went into that I think the way Valhalla is probably best played, which is in that regard, you know, that's actually going back to persona. The recommendation I often give people who feel like it's going to be too long is like look at each section like a mini arc. And if you need to take a break or two after that, go ahead and do it. And it works very well in that way and it's clean. Maybe I just needed to think of Valhalla that way before. Maybe I'll come back a year from now and be like, well, it was my favorite Assassin's Creed. Who knows? But yeah, and I'll say, I will say on that infinity part. I'm not a 1000% sure if that was confirmed or just the Bloomberg report, but part of that Bloomberg report, I believe, became confirmed shortly after. So for now, it's the assumption of how that game will be structured. But I think they have such a future platform for Assassin's Creed. Anyway, with all of that in mind, we are running a little bit shorter on time for all of us. In terms of making sure we can do the rest of our work day. So I don't know if we want to hold the PS5 UI feature for maybe another week. It's up to you, buddy. I will say we were going to talk about maybe this is a good call for other comments. We got a few on Twitter and thank you to everyone who sent in. Basically, as I mentioned at the top of the show, accolades are a thing that was launched with the PlayStation 5 where you could essentially tell other players they did well. In multiple accolades, what's that? Exactly. I don't even know what that is. I saw the headline. I was like, they're going away, and I was like, never knew you were here. Yeah. I mean, I don't think it worked across all games. I think it was very limited. The only game I remember working in was Ghost of Tsushima legends when I played it. But anyway, PlayStation confirmed that in fall of 2022, the accolades feature will no longer be supported. The feature hasn't seen the level of usage we anticipated, so we are refocusing our efforts. We encourage the community to continue to send positive messages to one another. Anyway or pause men's. Yes, as the kids call them pause moments. If that's going to be, if that means something else that I don't know, I apologize. Anyway, it apparently didn't get the usage that they thought it would. I didn't remember it after the first week of the PS5 being around. So I kind of wanted to, I think maybe for a future week, take stock of where we think the PS5, UI and its features really are right now. Obviously there's a new update coming out sooner just about to come out or it's in beta. I believe, introducing some folder functionality that people have been asking for, obviously, we've seen updates for things of trophy layout and format and things like that. VRR support and things of that nature. And 1440 P resolution. That one as well. But I am curious what people feel about. If you've had a PlayStation 5 and you've been experiencing it, whether for a week or almost two years now, do you like the UI, PlayStation took the different approach from Xbox, Xbox, basically did the same UI. They bridged it across the generations PlayStation did kind of what it's done the last couple of generations and refreshed it almost entirely. There's some lineage there, but it's otherwise pretty, pretty different. And so I'm curious how at this point people are feeling about it. If there's certain functionality you really want to see in there, please let us know. If there's functionality, you love and think has been a really great boon in addition to the PS5. Let us know that as well. Right and beyond at IGN dot com, I'd love to hear what people are thinking.

"Quick reading everything, and I'm just like, okay, tell me what I gotta do. So I get to level 60 and I'm like, all right, time to move on to the next expansion. Nope. I looked up. I still had 70 plus main story quest to get through. I'm not done. I'm not done. That's just to get to the next expansion. I had 70 quests of a realm reborn to get through. Then there's patch quests, which are quests that came out after the main story ends, but before the next expansion, another 60 quests. I had to do. Before you could go to the next expansion. And every expansion has that. So, basically, if you want to play with your friends who are max level and in walker, it's like 400 hours of quests. That is too long. I'm sorry, that is too long. Yeah, I've heard. They just added where you can do dungeons with NPCs now because the dungeons would like stop you. You need to like, 'cause dungeons are part of the main quest. Alternatively, what you can do is you can pay $25 for a main quest skip, right? There's two things you can buy. You can buy a level thing that puts you at the max level, but it doesn't let you skip the main quest, so then you still have to spend hundreds of hours doing all the main quests, or you can pay $25 to skip the main quest, but it doesn't level you. So then you're at just at the mercy of side quests, fates, and instance grinding, right? Or you can pay $50 and do both. But then you'll be told by every Final Fantasy 14 player that you skipped the best story ever told apparently, but at least maybe ever told in an MMO. So, after about a hundred and something hours, I was like, I'm done. I can't do this anymore. I'm out, but I don't want to skip the story because that's what everyone says is so great. So I'm skipping the game all together. I'm done. Sorry, Final Fantasy 14 audience. You game is too damn well. FF 14 fans drag him in the comments. Go for it. I don't even care. No, I mean, there's no rebuttal. There's nothing anybody could say. That is too long. 400 hours? No. What I will say to be fair, I will say, I agree in the terms of I wish there were easier ways to skip around because I'm someone who came to have 14 very late and have to go back to it. I've taken a big gap. But beat our own reborn. It was made as a decade ago that you were playing the beginnings of those quests. And the intention was that all that stuff would be played originally over time to me, it sounds like they didn't find the best solutions for people who are coming in now is the biggest thing. Which is why I prefaced it with unwelcoming to new players. I do find the guy, I do find the game extremely unwelcoming to new players, like it is if I want to play with my friend who's at the end of in walker, I either have to just immediately spend $50 and buy all the expansions, of course, or whatever it is they make you pay for MMOs or weird. Or tell them I'll see them in a few months. Well, the solution that I had was, I had 5 other friends who started at the same time, so we didn't have that problem. But no, I there you go. So you just need to get you still gave up. You only got passed a realm reborn. Yeah, it was already a hundred plus hours. We had spent like a weekend staying up straight trying to get a house. We literally were taking shoes. We luckily we had friends in different territories, but we literally would be like, okay, I wake up and I sign into the game and have it running in the background while I work. I go to bed, my friend in the UK is getting on soon and he's going to look and wait at that spot to get us a house. The housing system is house lottery. I did a joke. I didn't even get to that point. But what I'm hearing, what I'm hearing is that you are still four. I think four expansions away from endgame. I'm not even close. Which is probably you're 250 hours. Because every expansion, according to how long to be, but how long did it looks a little like inflated sometimes? Just doing some Google searching, people have said that every expansion is probably around 50 or 60 hours. There's four of them. So I'm definitely 200 hours away from endgame. In walker, the great thing that this game does that sudden thing like, well, the Warcraft doesn't do, is you only need one character, right? Because if you decide I want to play as another character, you don't have to do the main story request again, you just have to do that classes quests every 5 levels or so. And then just, you know, kind of power level it to the main level. So that is like one thing. I'm like, I will never delete this, this character will stay with me forever. Because I've progressed so far in the main story quest, you know. Yeah, that's one of my favorite things about vinyl fantasies and MMOs, just that that fact of having one character that can do everything. The tricky part of them is just managing your inventory between all your jobs, 'cause I have my paladin, my ninja, my white major all like 70 plus. I want to say right now. And everything else is like anywhere from 40 to 60 or so. And so I just kind of rotate between them when I get to a story quest. I'm like, oh, I'm past the story level. Well, guess I'll do I'll hop on to my warrior and I'll do a quest as a warrior or I'll hop on my black mage and I'll do it as a black mage this time. Which is kind of nice. So it kind of gives you that kind of wiggle room for, but even if you do not want to swap classes or you don't have a class leveled up, it just levels you down, which is nice. It just caps you for that quest. And you still get the full experience for your main job when you finish it. So you still get the EXP. Nothing's lost, nothing's forfeited for playing a level that's a class that's max unless you're at level cap for wherever we're at now. And we just kind of banks for later. But Mark, I think to your point of like, when you're trying to rush through it to catch up, you feel that time pressure, I think, more than anything. So I get where you're coming from. Yeah, for sure. My thing was I was going to play with a couple of friends and I eventually had to just tell them. I was like, nah, this isn't going to happen. Sorry about that. I want to live correct something. As far as like World of Warcraft versus something like Final Fantasy 14, the game's just play completely different. So while Final Fantasy 14, you could just change your class. Will the Warcraft does give you the option where if you're playing something like a paladin, that is technically three different classes. You can play as a healer. A tank or a DPS. So the game's just played differently. So that's not a, I don't want to get into how each one chooses how to play a class. They just do it in different ways. When World of Warcraft is also a visual novel, as we all know. Exactly. Where it's like where it's like Final Fantasy, if you're playing as a white mage, like you're healing. Yeah, bro that's what you're doing. If you're doing your job properly. Yeah. You could just jump around like I do. I was playing as a Bard and I just never stopped moving because they don't really have like cast spells. They're just shooting with a bow and arrow. I just jumped around. I had a lot of fun with the game, but yeah, again. You're not saying it was a bad game because of it. It was just a sort of, yeah. A little long for you. Long for old Markey. For that old old man. We'll talk a little bit more about loan games right after this.

"But the way palaces get introduced and the way that you learn about things changes throughout the game. So just as you feel like you're getting into a familiar pattern, it changes itself. And so I do think there are long games that can feel right, but it's definitely harder to nail down Mark speaking to Witcher for some people as you were saying earlier. But also I know persona is also just too long for some people. My long game honorable mention was Red Dead two because Red Dead two is very long, but that game. I felt like earns every chapter it gets. I love that game a lot and I remember finishing it and never feeling like this is going on way too long. And same can be safer for Grand Theft Auto V. Another long game that I really love. So yeah, there are definitely, there are definitely long games that I think still earn their time. Yeah. I don't need every game to be short. I just want it to earn how long you're forcing me to spend with it. Well, speaking of games that are too long, we're going to talk about those in just a second right after this break. Beyond and welcome back, we're talking about games that we feel like work in terms of the length that they are or games that are maybe too long for us games that maybe outstate their welcome. Maybe we still really liked them. I think most of the games that I've thought of as we were planning this discussion were games I still really, really loved. It was just kind of one of those. Maybe it went on a little too long. But before we get to all that, Jada, what is one that you have felt like went on maybe a little bit too long? So this one is, this one was a tough one for me because I'm a completionist, so I like to finish my games regardless, but sometimes there are games where I get 20, 30, 50 hours, and I'm just like, I'm done. I can't do it. I'm bored. And I'm gonna move on to something else. One of them was Digimon world new order. This one came out quite a bit ago. But I was reminded by it because I started playing Digimon survive this week. And how is that, by the way, I've heard the dialog, there's a lot of dialog in the build up for it. And it's voice acted with a chunk of his voice acted, which is nice. But I don't know. I'm only probably about 5 hours in, and I'm still like in part two, which I don't know how many parts there are. You hear part two and you're like, okay, I'm like, in the second act or the second half of the game? No, this is like literally the second chapter is like part two. You're on the second half of the tutorial. Yes, basically. Prologue part two. That's a lot of the feedback you get with persona, where it feels like the tutorials too long for some people. But anyway, but yeah, did you mind a world new order was a lot of fun in the early hours, but the Digimon get old at some point, like they age as you progress through the game, and then they revert into eggs. And then you have to re raise them to get back to your power spikes. So I just remember there's a lot of times where I would get to an area like a dungeon or a quest. And then did you want to be like, oh hey, we're too old. Now we're going to revert back to eggs, and then I have to go hatch them again and then raise them back up from rookies up to their champion or ultimate or mega forms to be able to take on the next area. And so it just kind of artificially lengthened the game by having that age mechanic. And agent mechanic is not a new thing when it comes to Digimon games. I understand that. It's always been not always, but it's been a thing in multiple entries. But it just, it just made the game drag on so long. And I was just like, I can't do it again. Which is a shame, because I'm really enjoying it. The game is so long, the literal characters in the game. I mean, I figured this was probably the best one. It's like the most literal definition of two characters. Yeah, that's a real meta commentary on the length of a game that you're playing. If the characters have gone on for too long. Is that something that's at all present in survive, at least from what you've played for, or? Not that I've seen so far. Thankfully. I really hope it isn't. And I just haven't gotten to it because I've been doing a lot of free battles just kind of like leveling up and power leveling early. Gotcha. Which could be a downfall later on. Who knows? Did you mind is always very like, did you pollutions are based on your stats or your bond with your Digimon and see who you, who you get when they did evolve. So I'm interested to see how that system works because old school Digimon world on the PS1. You messed up a stats and did something wrong? You got stuck with the poop. Did you mind pneuma man? I remember those days, not fondly. Not fun. Definitely, I rented that game from blockbuster for a week and then never rented it again because I felt very bad about my choices. And you'll have to let us know about how survive turns out though. Because that was one I know a lot of people were excited for and interested in prelaunch, I know there's been some sort of like we didn't get code, I think, to launch, so some people were sort of like worried about the state of it, but yeah, I'm curious what you think is you play through it. Mark, what's one for you that you feel was a little too long or I'll say it's welcome. You haven't written down a few questions for you. But you know, let's go first. Let's go first. Go ahead. Here we go. Okay, so a few months ago, I was like, okay, I have played World of Warcraft since 22,005. And well, honestly, 14 is all the rage. So let's get into this. That game. Guys, holy smokes. I can't even explain to you. I don't want to say the words unwelcoming, even though I just said it, because I know that a lot of people will not like that. Okay, so here's how fun. Here's how will the Warcraft work, okay? And will the Warcraft everything's level based, right? So you want to go, so you find yourself in rapid litch king's area north rind and you're in grizzly hills and you're like, I hate grizzly hills. I don't want to do these. Alternative, I don't want to do these quests. These quests suck. I don't care about these bears that I have to kill. What you can do is you can just grind, you can find side quests to do. You can go do dungeons, right? And once you out level the area and you're allowed to go somewhere else, you can just go somewhere else. Are you missing, you know, kind of parts of the story? I guess. But there's not anything stopping the player from just being like, I don't want to do this. I just want to, I just want to dungeon grind from zero to, I level caps like 60 now. Maybe 70 with a new expansion. I can't remember. Anyways, why don't I see 14 does not let you do that. Final C 14 has a main story quest, none of which are skippable. And when I tell you that this goes on and on, I can't even, I can't even begin. So I'm playing through, and I'm just like, I'm just doing the main story, 'cause that's basically all you have to do now. You don't even have to do side quests to I was still out leveling the main story quest. But that's a problem, right? I'm like a level 40 doing level 20 main story quest because you can't skip them. You are not allowed to. So, I got to the point where I'm just like, I'm not really letting the dialog play out.

"So you can get the platinum within like three hours, I think. I highly recommend it. It's going on the list. Perfect. For me, there were a lot of games that I wanted to call out as just right and one that I may mention later. This is an example of the other extreme, but a because we're kind of all talking a little bit about shorter games right now. And I do think often a shorter game has the benefit of feeling like the right length because it doesn't usually outstay its welcome. For me, one from Sony first party that did this really well, there's a few of them, but I think for me, I always think about my experience with lost legacy. Especially coming off of the back of uncharted four, which I think a general consensus for that game was as great as a lot of it is. Some people definitely felt the length of that game toward the latter half of it. I think that's probably the most common complaint you see is that it feels like it went on a little too long toward the end. Lost legacy is kind of the opposite. It's one of the shorter uncharted the first one or so notwithstanding. But one of the definitely the shorter of the PS4 entries. And I think it just uses that time really well. I think having the two main protagonist focus of the two of their stories going on simultaneously as the focus of the plot really lends things to it with Chloe and Nadine. I think the pacing of combat puzzle exploration and set pieces is really well laid out throughout this one. And I think it just it's a really interesting one because it originally started as a DLC bonus that was going to be part of uncharted four. And then it actually grew to be so big. They released it as a stand-alone thing. But I think as a stand-alone, I think it roughly maybe is like 6 to 7 hours, maybe a little bit longer, especially if you're going for completion of stuff. But I think it almost plays a little bit like a greatest hits of uncharted. They figured out what the model of the older uncharted could be like and really executed it for me the best when you think of the way the older trilogy worked and this one. I see them all kind of more of a piece even than four because four is just such a bigger adventure. But yeah, for me, Las legacy is just like, I've been meaning to, I still need to play the PS5 version. I was running through the series with my girlfriend, then we took a break from it, but I really, really loved lost, I guess, when it came out, I don't know about either of you, but yeah, absolutely. I love that game, and it's funny. It's kind of like the format that it took, where it's like uncharted four was this longer game that some people have kind of looked back at and thought this might be a little too long, Las legacy is just like this perfect length. It kind of happened with Spider-Man as well. I know there was a little bit of a little bit of rumblings when miles Morales came out and people were like, wait, so was Spider-Man 2018 a little too long? 'cause miles Morales is like perfect. I personally don't fall on the camp of Spider-Man being too long. I thought that that game is just so damn fun. But I do fall on the camp with uncharted four. That game is pretty long, but it is also my favorite uncharted, so. Yeah. Yeah, I love lost legacy as well. It's possible to love a thing and critique it, who could have thought. Yep. Yep. Yeah, I think lost legacy is probably my favorite. I just loved how they changed how the design kind of evolves as you play through it. It very much has this system of where there's that one area where you have the three towers and the puzzles difficulty changes depending on which tower you go to first. It doesn't matter which tower you go to first, the easiest one will always be the first one you do the hardest one will always be the last one you do. Yeah. And there's a bunch of stuff like that in the game. And I love that about lost legacy. Yeah. I think they really cleverly played with the length and form and function of an uncharted game. And I think for me more than anything, that's why I've wanted another uncharted was like, do you do a smaller one like this? That's totally okay, just like make another one like that, please. It would be so great. I think going back to your mentioned mark of Spider-Man is someone who reviewed both games. I never felt like Spider-Man the story was too long. I think if you're trying to go platinum it, it gets a little too long in the tooth because of the crimes that you need to go for and how repetitive that gets. But I think what miles showed was like, they can tell a really concrete precise story in this world that's a little shorter, but still feels so great. For me, it was like Spider-Man's campaign wasn't too long. I think it was just the way at the end of the day. You reused your time in the world, became a little too long in the tooth. But campaign wise I never felt like it was too bad. But anyway. Yeah, I would agree. Moving on from there. I did just want to actually mention as one that's sort of on the opposite spectrum, and there's probably people who disagree with me. When I actually do think for a very long game, I really love persona 5 because I think changes up the flow of the game in many ways. Obviously it's infiltrate a palace, the dungeons of that game live your life, infiltrate a live your life.

"Friend who played it. It's on the PS plus. I think extra collection right now. Unfortunately, as far as I know, the extra, if you redeem it via extra, you can't get the PS5 upgrade. There's some weird sort of oh, that sucks. Yeah, they're hopefully get sorted. I know this is kind of happened with PS plus before, but yeah, this is one that I think, without spoiling it, again, refreshes itself every little bit. And it keeps introducing new concepts and new ideas and things that make you be like, okay, the next 20 minute chunk of this game is not like the last 20 minute trunk I just played. Like you said, it is at the end of the day, a first person walking simulator thing where you're going through the story. But how it approaches that changes the context, every 20, 15 minutes or so. It's really cool in that way. Yeah, well, and that's kind of like, you know, just the first memory, you know, you do, like I said, you become a cat, because the whole game can be interpreted in like weird ways, right? There's no like, I don't think there's any right or wrong answer. But you become a cat and then you become like a little monster thing. And it's like, that only happens at that moment. Or there are different versions of these things every time you progress. But then it's one of those things where it's like, if you want to take your time, just like in games like gone home, they're every inch of the house can be explored and you'll see button prompts everywhere and she'll say different things that like don't necessarily progress, but she just like has things to say about everything. So it's like, it's definitely a game you probably could play for longer than two hours. But I remember my first playthrough just being like, yep, that was great. Jada, have you played it? I actually have not. I was considering putting this one on my trophy list for the year. 'cause I just never got around to this one. I've heard nothing but great stuff about it. But I think when it dropped, I was kind of snobby about walking sim type games, experiential stuff. There was also a lot of them at that time. There was. And so it's just one that I just never got around to. I'm pretty sure I own it. Because they've given it away so many times on PS plus, I want to say. But I just haven't got around to it yet, but it definitely looks interesting. And based on your description, it sounds like it might be more up my alley now. Yeah. Yeah. I love so many of these games when they came out. I remember one of my least favorite was the one that popularized the genre, which was gone home. I liked gone home a lot, but I remember finishing it and kind of being like, eh, you know, and then I played this and firewatch and fire watches fantastic. And that's what kind of got me. Yeah, and that's what kind of got me hooked on these and I started appreciating. I think playing this in firewatch and everybody's gone to the rapture. Made me kind of appreciate gone home more. Because I think I was kind of like, yeah, I was like, I don't really understand what the point of this is. When I was doing the description for the PS5 version of the video I made for this, I was like, this is when the gameplay starts, the gameplay, but this is when you get to move. It is the gameplay, right? Gameplay isn't just swinging a sword. In this game, the gameplay is walking so this is what it is. And if you're watching the B roll, this is when you become a cat. Awesome. I think that's something that we've definitely as more games are released in general, but I think also as people try different things and especially cross genre experiment. I think stuff like walking simulators originally, I think there was derision toward it, because it was the idea of the name of the genre inherently is a little bit derisive, but it was sort of like, oh, you're not doing anything. You're just walking through, but most of them find really interesting ways to make you interact with the world, to the way they deliver their story through the environment and all that sort of stuff. I mean, it's sort of the same with visual novels. Like you could be pessimistic or just kind of write the genre off of saying, well, I'm just reading a book that's on the screen with still images and occasionally choosing dialog, but the genre is so much more complex than that. And I think walking sim games have gotten that way as well. Yeah, and the thing is, is exactly what to your point is like walking simulator is not what these are called. That's like a derogatory audience given name? I think they would be preferred to be called like narrative adventures like narrative driven experiences. There's only one sort of, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Well, yeah, 'cause they kind of are like adventure. You can take Edith Finch and even stray and kind of just be like, this is an adventure game. You're looking around for things to click on. You're just not using a mouse pointer anymore. You're using a cat or, you know, first person. What's your point? There is a wall. The cat is your letter. Yeah, exactly. There is a walking simulator. That's Death Stranding, because that game, you actually are simulating how to walk properly. Or crop. Yes. If only we're on PlayStation. Edith Finch definitely recommend that out there, especially Jada, if you're interested for your trophy run, I think it takes you can get the trophy in a single playthrough, otherwise it would be a probably a short half hour cleanup at most.

"too long" Discussed on Beyond!

"Going to be that controversial or will we today in the world of PlayStation. We have some fun chats coming up later in the show. We're going to be talking a little bit about the length of games and what games feel like they're the right length, what games stay there. Welcome. Are there any games that are too short that we went that we wish went on longer? We're also going to be talking a little bit about the PS5's UI because a feature is going away. That maybe you didn't even know the PS5 had if you had one, but we'll get to that in a little bit. Before we do, I'm joined this week by Mark Medina. Alexa set the timer for ten minutes. Oh, no, don't. Don't do that. I want to see. I want to see who watches this podcast on a television. Mark, I listened to so many podcasts out loud. I apologize to everyone. Hold on. I don't. Alexa cancel that timer. There we go. Perfect. Now we're perfect. Reset, I apologize. We're also joined this week by Jada Griffin. Hello, hello. New hair, new do, gotta just, I'm here to represent. Let's talk about PlayStation stuff. It's looking awesome. I love the color choice. I got my hair colored for the first time. Literally two weeks before the pandemic happened. I was really excited to be like, you know what? I'm going to go crazy. I've never had color in my hair. This will be really fun. And then two weeks later, it was like, oh, no one except for my girlfriend will ever see this hair cool. I really want a man. I thought you did it because you knew it you would be inside because of the pandemic. I can experiment now. It's fine, but no, you were like, I'm gonna go out in the world and show this, and then like, oh, all my dreams are just gone. Shattered. Yeah, no, it wasn't like a, oh, in case it looks bad, like no one's gonna see it or like, I'm sitting at home, and so the lighting on the podcast may be different. No, it was, I was really excited to show people my cool new hair and that it didn't matter. I remember at the beginning of the pandemic, every most people, they did one of two things, either a got really long hair and beards, 'cause like, you know, hair cutting places were closed or whatever. Or they just took it into their own hands and just shaved bald, and they're like, I don't even care. My wife gave me a haircut. That's funny. I don't know anyone who did the shaving. I feel like I saw photos, but I don't know anyone at IGN who did like, I'm going bald. Nobody in IGM, everybody at IGM went to went post apocalyptic. Yes. Yeah. Yeah. They set the mood. If you haven't seen them, John Ryan's hair is just incredible at this point. But speaking of the length of hair as it developed throughout the pandemic, let's talk about the length of video games. Wow, what a transition, Jonathan. That was great. Segue plus. You know, we wanted to talk a little bit about this because we've been talking over the last week or two. A lot of conversations came up around stray, which is a roughly, you can beat it in under 5 hours. Some people can be in it faster on their first go. There's a speedrun trophy for beating in under two. And a lot of debate came out of, is it the right length? Does it feel like it's too short a game? Did we want more of it? Does it feel like it's the right length for the game that they're doing? And a lot of these questions came up and got us all kind of thinking about what are some games we felt like were the right length or games that went on too long or or games that were even too short. I think we kind of want to talk about games we feel like worked well in the length that they're campaign spans. Obviously we're not talking about multiplayer experiences necessarily here or free to play stuff in terms of games where you're playing a hundred matches a week or whatever. But I think I have it beat for I still can't I'm trying my hardest. Despite everything I mean there is technically a campaign. You can still play the save the world campaign that's true. To subscribe. I actually surprisingly to everybody probably. I played 8 minutes of Fortnite over the weekend. 8 minutes. Wait, tell me what happened in those 8 minutes. Did you play a match? I remember you just on the menus. I was making breakfast and I put my I was making breakfast pizza threw it in the oven at 8 minutes left on the timer. And one of my friends, I was hanging out with had to use the restroom. So he's like, I need you to hop on the controller. So I played for 8 minutes of Fortnite. How did you do into the bathroom? I did about 200 damage sniping and then my squad ran into two squads. I mean, got annihilated and then I died last. So I held up the team longer. I think we finished tenth. And then the pizza was done. And then the pizzas were done. Well, Jada, welcome to the Fortnite gang. We're happy to have you. Damn it. That would be the last time. That's all it takes. That's all it took. Anyway, the could you imagine a world where if you get like a battle Royale in a victory Royale in Fortnite like end credits roll? You did it. You beat the cave every time you get a win though. It's unskippable. We can talk about unskippable credits later for a game I was playing. But anyway, we did want to talk about game length and kind of games we think worked well in their timing games that didn't. Things of that nature. I think the first thing worth pointing out about this conversation that we're going to have. First and foremost is we're not talking about the length of a game as it relates to the amount that you would pay for that game. I think at the end of the day, how much you are willing to spend on a game is a personal choice for everyone. Obviously there's a lot of conversations about was stray worth buying on its own for $48 or $30. I forget which exactly was, is it worth it to just subscribe to PS plus extra? Instead, obviously a lot of the last of us part one remake questions around price as well. For different reasons. But we're not talking so much about whether a game's price merits the time more so about whether the way the campaign is laid out the way that games naturally unfurls as you go, whether it feels like it justifies the time that it goes for, we're kind of talking about here. The other thing I think worth mentioning is that for the most part, we're going to talk about a game that we feel like was too long. We're not saying that game was bad because of it. We're just sort of saying we feel like it outdated. Welcome, maybe, or that there was a great game, and then it went on for another 15, 20 hours. I think I was thinking about a lot of the too long games that I've played. And I enjoyed them, and then I just put them down because I had to move on because I just wanted to play other games. So, you know, I think there's a lot of what we're trying to get at here is like, what does it mean, I guess, for a game to be the right length? What does it mean for it to be too long or too short? And I guess before we get into any specifics, do any of you feel like there's a sort of, I don't think there's any sort of magical equation to it. I think it really just depends on what the game is striving to be. I think like using stray as an example Mark, maybe from your perspective, that game feels like it uses the length that it is correctly. I feel like it's the right length for what they were trying to accomplish. Yeah, it's totally a subjective thought, right. When you think of stray and you think it's 5 hours long, I've actually seen people say, I wish stray was like one more chapter because I wanted this part a little bit more fleshed out and I'm like, that's totally valid. I don't feel that way, but it's a totally valid argument. And then there's a lot of people that, you know, love Witcher three and something, which are three, something that CD Projekt has even come out and said, hey, we know we put too much content in that game. The little question marks became a little overwhelming. Some people really, really love that. And which are three is one of the greatest open world RPGs of all time. So for someone to say, oh, the game was too long. It's too long for me kind of deal. I'm not saying that for myself because I have only ever played the first few hours of The Witcher. But it's totally like a subjective topic every single game on here.

"American dream you know it's interesting that When i think of the american dream what does that phrase come from. I think it comes from thomas. Jefferson's words in the declaration of independence. I mean we all learn about this madison. What grade were you in when you do. You remember you're the youngest of all of us here. Yeah when did you learn about the declaration of independence. Third grade second grade third grade so in third grade. We all come to grips with this phrase life liberty and the pursuit of happiness. I think the pursuit of happiness. Where i like to think romantically. We all get that in our conscious. And that's where this idea of the american dream can. Why do i come to america. I just. I just won't have the opportunity to pursue happiness. It's exactly right. thank you very much. The will smith movie which by the way is a great movie. Have you even seen it. Madison folks. I give madison hard time. Because while she's twenty five and so i have all these social and cultural references that go completely overhead all the time and it makes me feel really old and and then if i think i'm bad then joe tries to chime in joe go someplace that even i don't know and so we are quite the motley crue as we have our conversation so there you go eight four four seven four seven two five seven seven. Let's go to atlanta. Georgia where i hit the wrong button. Joe i apologize. I give this poor guy stroke from time to time. Lot of buttons on the desk. What looks like a two was the one. because i'm i'm pressing the button without looking at it folks. This is why that dial tone happens. We have marie. Ceo on the line. Reseal you're on. The ken coleman show came. Having me sherman. How's it going today. Gabriel good good. How can i help. Yes so i'm glad designer. I do like my job But i feel he's not feeling so i don't wanna do something more meaningful Canopy guarany well. Actually it's Singer right which. I think is a little bit crazy idea. I went to fix motorcycles and sell them and gave abortion those profits to children to living under foster care. Okay wait a second wait a second. Okay why is that crazy. There's nothing in that that i find crazy. Lots of motorcycles out there and lots of mechanical problems with the motorcycles. Yes or no okay. Good and so. My guess is that You getting paid to fix a motorcycle is is if we don't call it lucrative. It's certainly really good. Pay yes or no. Yeah okay great. And so then. You want to give a portion of your company's profits to go to help foster kids. Yes that's my dream. What's wrong with that. There's other crazy about that. That's the problem. The problem is some buddy or something or some voice in your head is convinced you that that's crazy and i'm here to tell you that's not crazy. That's freaking awesome. That's what that okay okay. yes l. thing. I have a nine to five job. I work in a studio. I do groppy. Graphic wasn't graphics. And i'm the main provided a great job. You're gonna keep the job you think you've got to quit the job. You don't need to quit the job you've gotta keep the job. Yeah and you know what you're gonna start doing. You're gonna start fixing motorcycles at night and on the weekends. You're gonna tell your wife and kids why you're doing that so they may. You may have to get a little bit more disciplined with some intentional family time. But you're also sitting the family down going. Dad's pursued his dream. Let me tell you what the dream is. Let me tell you why it's the dream and your kids get a hold of that and they see dad Doing work that that is extra. That's bringing an extra income but it's all for reason and then they're gonna watch dad build up that motorcycle mechanic work and by the way don't limit it. The motorcycles early on because right now we just want to bring an income right and we want to. We want to stock up some income. And and and what we're gonna do is. We're going to save six months to twelve months of your current salary which is what salary is one hundred ten thousand okay great so we know what one hundred and ten divided by two is. That's your minimum number. That's your minimum number fifty five thousand dollars minimum number. I'd really like to see you because you're the sole provider. I'd like to see you get one hundred ten grand in the bank from your side business and anything else you sell or any other budget items that you cut one way or another. We're going to get two hundred and ten thousand dollars and again. I'd prefer it to be in that side account and so it's a side business. Maybe it's twenty hours a week but you start out with just one project you were going to build your motorcycle mechanics business on the side and you're gonna build it until you have at least six months in the bank in that company in that and then you have a pipeline of clients and customers word of mouth and so you are a legitimate business and then when you step away from doing. The graphic design work. You're not stressed out right. So this is actually a pretty clear path. There's not a whole lot of thinking about this. This is just putting the word out telling people spreading the word. You don't have to spend a bunch of marketing dollars. You could start some facebook. Ads was cost nothing just any bitty money but get the word out start tinkering on motorcycles and start from day one and so if a guy comes you to fix his motorcycle and you charge him a thousand dollars if that's what it is. I'm making this up. Then you take you take fifteen percent of that hundred fifty dollars and you put it in a separate bank account and you stack it up and you you always use that money either incrementally or as you go i mean incrementally or once a year you give some of that money that you put aside even from day one you give it to some foster kids you understand what i'm saying and now from day one the mission.

"The why would you get in. Someone's bed now. I'm not saying like hey. This is what you going to do all right. It wasn't like that. I was surprised because the signals were sending this way and so does she just lay there. We should kind of lay there and we're talking and i think we should shy. I think we kissed so my hand is down and it gets down neither neither reasons and then she looks over at me and she goes. Hey consent and i was like oh my god like i didn't flip out. I was like oh absolutely absolutely no problem. But then what am i supposed to do. What am i supposed to do. Just like i just like this is what i did. I was like absolutely. I'm sorry maybe. I got my my signals wrong. So yeah it's you need to ask. And i was like no problem and i like rolled over a little bit just to kind of lay back completely and make sure and then we talked for maybe another couple seconds. Maybe a half a minute. And i was like all right. We'll okay. We'll sleep tight. And she's like what she's like. Okay good night. That was like is this woman homeless and she's just looking for a place to sleep. These yeah isn't that i don't know your. It is very weird. Was back then because that was definitely pre pre metoo definitely. I didn't have a lot of friends and myself. Included were like in the middle of a perceived. Hook up to be like. I do give my consent now. There are a lot of ways that night could have gone one. Maybe some people. And i was going to ask you this. Maybe some people would really like to hear something like this. Hey i really like you and is it. Okay if a kiss you and touch you. But then i kind of feel like at the same time body language says a lot too and i don't think you need to say all of those things if the person is giving you all these very specific signs okay maybe females would argue with me but i think it makes a man kind of like not look soft. I hate to say that. But if i'm already in a position where i may be kissing someone. If they ask that it it does turn me off. I was okay. So this is the thing is i think some people want to be asked. Can i kiss you and some people just want it to happen to me. I want it to just happen if a girl was going to kiss me. I don't want to be like. Can i kiss you because then my answer like sure. Yeah i just wanna like yeah just just go for it like that's me again. I want to be very clear. Here's we're not talking about like me going like. Hey i bought you drinks now. You're gonna faulkner. I'm not saying that. I don't think that what i'm saying. Is that was a lot of signals a lot of signs to make me think i could kiss you. Yeah i feel like a girl. Jogging past you in the park is a little different than that even drinking with all night. Yeah who came back willingly. Who wanted to go to your place who wanted to go in your bedroom. Who netted who got in your bed. Who started kissing you and then consent. The i feel like i felt like listen. I one hundred percent want to respect women. No no rip her boza. Pardon eater alive. No one respect a woman right. I think if it feels like a business transaction then it's going to be a turnoff can't think of any any guy that would like want a girl to say to them. Like may i please. I think that also is definitely like a female. It gets a little bit. Prince programming. A little bit of a little bit of that. I also i think maybe treat me with respect. I do respect you. I just also am feeling this moment. And if i go to like lean into you and your feeling it i'm feeling it then. That's a magical moment if i lean in and you go no no no no thank you. You'd like. oh okay no problem. I'm so sorry. I read that wrong. Maybe it's being princess di but i also see it being very like faux feminist. So that's where i got. I got from her was that she was a little bit of this. Like like like really wanted to be a feminist but but wasn't completely committed. And the reason i say that is because After this scene the next day. I walked her to her car. And i said hey i had a great time with you nice to meet you take care. Good luck never know. We didn't and then i thought for sure that'd be the last time i saw her because i was like come on like why would you. Why would you say that. Why wouldn't you have more conversation for like. Hey listen. I just really would like to discuss that a little bit more before we were to do something and i would have been like no problem. That's tom totally. that's fine. I wasn't trying to put my fucking jam. I dig in you. I was just like touching your body your body in the bed. It's funny she leaves. I'm like well. That's the last time i'll ever hear from her. She calls me like another like five or ten times. She's like. Hey i'm in downtown. I'd love to see you and i'm like no. I'm not gonna do that you you you. You did this weird thing. It's was a weird thing. It made me feel creepy. And i was like i wasn't doing in creepy and you made me feel that way. It's like i just don't think we're on the same page at all that i agree. And then it's like what's the line for consent like for every level of romantic interaction. You know what i mean. How would will be willing to second base of twister. Yeah i mean. I don't know and so i started thinking. Was i wronged. I mean. I don't think that i didn't last long. It's weird to me if you're already in the position of that type of intimacy you don't need to ask for permission again ill but i can just picture like a guy like me. I can't see how a surprising one has the next. I totally see that. I don't think. I don't think i've ever said can i kiss you unless it was some weird thing i've had women say. Are you gonna kiss me. That was a turn off to me too because it was like okay like come on because i kind of feel it. Could someone strap it on their boots and being like. I'm in charge. Now you're gonna fuck and kiss me. what and i'm just like. Can we just make this a little less like aggressive. Been guilty of that of all hunter girl doing. I drove my jeep. Passed guy wants and it going to blow you what. Oh my god. Because i feel like sometimes when you're in that initial stages you can only get to a certain point before you go crazy and it's like i hit my blowing point not attendant but yeah i definitely understand the feeling of the to me if you're wondering if a guy hasn't made the move yet it's like it's never going to work out or it's or for this situation it's not good to like that's one thing i wish i learned is to like not be their pursuer in okay to pursue just think like you know not everyone has their own opinion on what is a turn on. What's a turn off for me. Like i like someone who is sensual and subtle in some ways and then i also like someone who's a little bit forward certain times so it's like then it's like. I know a little fickle but like had you ever see that movie the wolf of wall street. There's that scene where he's like so we're going to be friends and she's like we're not going to be like she's a straight up is like yeah. We're not going to be friends and it's like oh that's really fucking hot but it's easier when you look like margot robbie. Yeah that's true that's true. I mean he's leo so it's like yeah leo switches so quick..

"Newborn. I've got a question for you. Have you ever had a one night stand. And how did you meet the person at a bar Yes let me think. I've had several okay several nightstands. Yeah mostly i one person several nights or several one hundred stance equal. I've had like a week. Of one. Night stands oss okay They have always been in a bar in my early. I to san diego. Okay all right yes. Yeah i was wild. And i first to nice to the people before during and after. Yes so is nice. Yeah what was the weirdest thing that ever happened on your one night stands one guy got gum all over his genitals one guy got gum my gum. All over and then another guy. I had to draw. Just moving on other guy lived on a boat and i had to deliver him to the harbor the next morning. Oh god we how did how did the gum get on his balls. You didn't take the gum out of your mouth for you. Started seconds dick and he ended up like sleeping. I guess okay so so. I had gum in my mouth and i put it on my nightstand but i put it like on anything so it was just like a random piece of gum and i don't know what happened. But it's made its way back into the bed. And then he slept on it and mushed his ball sack of weasels into my government. He woke up the next morning and it was like entangled in his dark auburn of tnt hair. that's why i needs manscaping. Normally we'd put an ad here but we're not going to do so is great if you want to be out of your focus on just the common none of the I had to drive the harbor to the next day. Lived on a boat. Just a whole slew of them. I wanted to tell you the story. Because i thought about it. Someone had asked me that question. And i was like. Oh yeah. I have this one story where i was living downtown. So this in my. I would call my prime years right. Guy fucking god that my downtown prime years didn't match up with yours because i was like there was a bargain to downtown san. Diego jimmy loves and i would just basically walk in and be like yeah. That's exactly downtown. Was like the one one of my. I was one of the guys pulled my pigtails in the middle of the street. So i feel like a bad person but i have to say that like at this time in my life i was not committed to anyone and i was just dating and having a fun time and leaving downtown in a high rise and just like just got a puppy so i had ero and it was just like all this like everything that i was doing was like. I'm about to get fucked. Yeah so I go out with my friend. Actually i go out with my friend. Clarion we're cleric clarence Before and we go out. And we are in the city. And i think that at the time i was actually kind of seeing this girl just like hanging out with this girl who was her just recently got hired as a table service girl. You know one of those goals carries around the three hundred dollar bottles of vodka to the to the table and you whatever probably more than that honestly and she's dressing the scantily clad outfit. Whatever i'm going and i go to the place. It's the opening night of the place and so she'd give a table for free. she's working. she's working chooses. There is like a common in and she is excited to see me. And i'm excited to her but i was at a. It was at a time life. I was like that's somehow okay to me like i was just okay. I'm feeling like yeah. That's great i'll a girl who works in a bar as a table service girl. This is totally seems like. it's realistic. Why not put. I knew was like whatever anyway. I go there while there. I'm you know the girl is busy. So i'm kind of like talking to other people and so i run into this other girl who's pretty and Seems like she's alone. I'm like oh you know we're just talking just chat chat chat And we talked for a little bit. No harm no foul a leave the bar at some point. Because i'm like all right. How long are we going to sit here at the bar in which my the girl that i'm kind of hanging out with is like flirting with all these other people it's like i don't need to be here right so clear and i left and we went to a couple of places and then i think we're getting to that part of the night where it's like all right. Well we've kinda you know we're older than a of these people and we're kind of getting of that place where it's adam really wanna do this anymore. But we're like let's go to the one last place which was Vindicates sarah which is this Around alice in wonderland inspired wine bar. Here in san diego and as we're walking there i see that girl that i met at the bar and she's just out on the street and she's alone i g again what's going on kind of thing. She's like. hey she's like. Oh you guys heading to a bar. I'm like yeah you not with anybody. She's like no. I'm just kind of out on my own. I came down to see my friend because she Is working at that bar as well. And i know it sounds like this is going to go go bad in the way that you think it is. It's not it's not. But i'm like oh if you wanna come with us you know. We're going to go in this place. We can go grab a drink with love that actually so she partners up and i'd insane declare but on very quick. It was like you know what. I think my night is done. And he was like ready to go and so he actually bowed out and left. And i know that was him. You know that was that was that was friends. Speak for like you got this one the letting go get it and so i went downstairs and this bar is nice. And it's in downtown so the prices a little bit higher. You know so but it's like it's a nice place right and so unlike we go up to the bottom like let me drink like okay great..

"My favorite album of all time. I don't think that's too long either. So it's possible to make a long album and not have it be too long and and when that happens when you have that kind of victory that kind of triumph people like me will say. It's the greatest album of all time. And i and i do feel that way somewhat about london calling and physical graffiti. So what happened was the clash followed up london calling a double album with a triple album. you know. It was considered at the time. You know the label was telling him no. Don't do this it's it's commercial suicide etcetera etcetera. And and frankly. I mean it. It did sort of a their reputation. A little bit But it was audacious and it is an amazing amazing out my love this record to death. I think it's really cool but they just so stepped in it. The idea that this could have been a double album so so one of the great parlour games of punk can post punk fans is is playing the game. What would your ideal double album of sandinista be sandinista with an exclamation mark But just to give you a little analysis so so You know. I think i think if this was a double album it would be as good as london calling if not better if i if i could make my perfect double album out of it but just to give you a little bit of a of a way that this album is too long so so when you get to the end of the album. It literally looks like they're running out of steam and they don't know what to do And so so. It's just so graphically obvious when you get to like six that that This this really should have been pared down because they're just like they're smoking a lot of pot and making dub versions of songs jokey songs in sound effects of songs That you go all right you guys you guys really should have made this a double But they insisted they put their foot down. They wanted it to come out. They like this idea of versions of songs and sound collages and doing this sort of multi cultural thing but suicide six has a called silicon sapphire on it which is essentially sound effects. And it's it's like a dub version of washington bullets which is already on the album version partner which played you as junco partner. A dubbed version Career opportunities like a pop guest vocal. Ha ha joke version of a song. That goes back to their debut album. it's almost like a little bit like the great rock and roll. Swindle is a swindle and that's a double album by the sex pistols and there's just a lot of filler weird on there has not even obviously not even really a sex pistols album. Everybody considers them to have one album. That band right But this feels like a great rock and roll swindle song On a clash record and they've got shepherd delight which is an instrumental. That sounds like the stranglers. The men in black Sci-fi has men's fourth hill which is backwards sound effects It's not even really a song. I mean it's a song done backwards. I suppose and then you. It's got some not great songs on it. I don't think junkie slipped kingston advice and street parade are are the greatest songs on this album. But they are. They are proper songs but that's all onside five so again. It's this idea that you get to the end of sandinista and it just starts to droop really bad and it should have been a double album side. two's got one more dub which is a dubbed version of one more time in there right next to each other blah blah and one other point. I wanted to make before we move on in this idea. You know kevin. Kevin brought up fleetwood mac. Tusk and tusk is an interesting one because i think if that wasn't a double album we'd have a lot less To talk heatedly about fleetwood mac about. I think it's cool that they did that record. I mean i think if you took all the commercial songs the expected songs and put it out. I think you'd start to see the demise of the excitement for the band fleetwood mac so i just thought it was. It was a cool idea to do this. This weird sort of You know tribal scrappy album mixed with commercial songs. Weird album cover Weird title. I think it just gives gives the fleetwood mac story. Probably one of the most interesting things about the fleetwood mac story to talk about that they put out this double album So yeah i thought it was cool so so there's a. There's a question marquis kind of double album for you. But this is all about double album. So let's move on all right so let's go to our number. Two selection. take listen to this This is something like say your little more accustomed to hearing on history and five songs with burning flame.

All right. so this episode episode seventy five at some sort of a milestone. i don't know is going to be called this albums. too long This is a debate that a lot of people have with different records for a lot of different reasons. So i thought it would make Kind of an interesting episode so we obviously as always we have Five ways to look at This topic and And i thought these came out to sort of five different ways with one a little bit overlapping. because it's one that has been talked about a little bit and it's abandoned always comes up when we when we have this discussion. That's the band. Acdc we'll get to that That's going to be a number v one but number five But since they just put out a power up there has been some debate about. acdc In this respect and And and will address that. Obviously it's not the power up album. We're going to talk about black ice but but we'll we'll get there in a minute. But yes so this episode. You know i kind of had it formulating in my mind and a a faithful listener. Kevin latham i. I guess i spill the beans when i was thinking him for his kofi donation that You know that i was gonna. I was thinking of doing this. And he helpfully came up with the few. That really got my mind thinking okay. There's another way of looking at this. And here's another way. So kudos to kevin for coming up with a couple of these choices actually And ways of looking at these and then giving me some other examples but we will get to that one. I was going to do. I guess let's get started with this Let's play this first of all and and let's talk about this. But it's one that i knew i was going to do in kevin come up Kevin came up with as well Take a listen. "To fully cook all the way and be like nice and Golden Brown. And so you WanNa make sure you have butter all up beneath the scandal. Keep it moist along with salt and pepper at a minimum some other sorts of poultry seasonings in their good whatever your flavoring like Rosemary Rosemary. Times age like those are very traditional and meal. Yeah so if you guys don't know. Richard is Cuban and a and he makes his Turkey he actually. It's the cutest thing on the fucking plan at when Richard facetime says mom while he's basing his Turkey the it'll make sure he's doing it right. It's precious and so But he does it with kind of this more like Hispanic Cuba it's Mojo I wanna say it's this Mojo. It's like a yellow bottle that's called Mojo. I think it is. I think so and like there's like I think a bird on the bottom of this special shipping order offense on I don't know yeah I I thought he like Or a Hispanic or Mexican chopping moving around but yeah you make sure it's all under the skin again same deal make sure there's like a nice little pool of up up keeps things nice and juicy and Yummy works out and then the one then I'll deal be smoked. Yeah Jesse Smoking Turkey because we have smoker and he hasn't used it I think since the one time he used a and then he never used it again like a dozen times removed. It's almost any year massively. I at least February. But it's GonNa be really yummy. I'll I just have to put a little bit of butter in there and stuff like that nice drip pan and stuff. It's harder to get the things underneath the skin. You need like a more dry the kind of rub but the yeah seasoning. Really Harry Tunnel something along the lines of bream moisture. Back back into the does K.. Very moist stays very still. Yeah but it's just hard to get like the butter won't stick because the way the Turkey is going to have to be in there too. It's going to be vertical horizontal smoker. which is how they do Fried Turkey which is really good. But it's very dangerous or don't do it if you are new to cooking Turkey like at all whatsoever the reason it's dangerous if you are interested in doing it the reason it's dangerous because it's not fully dog. Yeah it takes like a couple of days to decide. You'll have to defy your Turkey like a couple of days before there's no going out and like like defying at the morning of right. There's no don't do it in the microwave or something stupid don't i. I don't know if you even could probably could if there's a small enough bird right other things like two pounds per person is typically the go-to weight right so if you got nine people who want to eighteen pound Turkey right ten people twenty pound Turkey and I'll say like what we're GonNa do is we're going to have at least six people right. Seven eight nine ten. Yeah so we have ten people who probably due to twenty ounce twenty pound birds. 'cause then you have two pounds for people too much food good for people but it's very important to have leftover Turkey. Say Two pounds for people which I think is a lot for people to eat even like the night of but maybe right you you eat that much. Typically the two pound rules you have one pound that night and then imagine you take home for every person but now we're GONNA have two to three pounds. You can take home if you the pound Turkey. That's perfect though for everybody to take home a lot right so that takes over the Turkey. Turkey's done turkeys done. who takes care of the sides? That's me I do sides and desserts. So it's Kinda like my state bowl. I could probably cook a Turkey. I've cooked a Turkey in the past and I've done it perfectly. Well maybe not perfectly but I did it really well and I could probably I could cook a ham like it's nobody's business. Yeah but Jesse doesn't like him and so But I have a good recipe for ham if you want it ever but I take care of sides and so that includes like dressing and gravy or stuffing so the difference between dressing and stuffing is dressing is kind of like a casserole role while stuffing is like you actually put it in the bird to get some of the lake which I don't think fits with either Turkey. Thanks methods terrible like stuffing and a lot of people don't like stuffing. Yeah Yeah Yeah sometimes it's too mushy gets on too much of the flavor aver right. I don't think you ever make enough either like it's so much easier when you make a big casserole kind of like dress it and then you you can layer it and get the textures you want the flavors you want. Yeah exactly A big one is like cornbread dressing. At which has like that really delicious like corn bread flavor her. But it's still like really moist and you add like all these extra ingredients to it dressing general issues one of my favorite things and then I'm going to call my grandmother this year to get her recipe and so I think that's another thing that like people should definitely take advantage of like ask your grandmother. Ask your mother if like there was something something you really love and you want to continue that recipe. That that's another thing that I love about Thanksgiving is a lot of it is passing dow like like traditions of cooking. 'cause my grandmother southern and so on and now I'm in the Pacific northwest and people don't know how to house Hausch. Traditional southern cooking is done. I'll say I will stand by that company but like if you're just making stuff from recipes that you saw online like you can totally do that but when it comes from something that you enjoyed as a child I think it just makes it all the more special and so that goes back to one of my other favorite. Appetizers and side dishes is deviled eggs six. I make really good deviled eggs because I've been making them since I was seven. It was my responsibility to wake up. Hella early every Thanksgiving having to do the eggs because you have to hard. Boil them and you have to assemble the devil bag. You have to let it cool completely. A lot of responsibility that they put on a seven year old it was probably also the easiest thing and the thing that nobody wanted to do right right but a Migraine Paerson. Everybody even to this day they will like message me early like early the morning of Thanksgiving and say hey. Weren't you here making deviled. Eggs like my double X.. Ally and I would. I cater my deviled eggs to like people and if they lake olives or relish and it's really easy to get really good at making deviled eggs pretty healthy for you so very low carb car and so I'm going to make deviled eggs I'm GonNa make dressing and Giblet gravy also planning. I'm making I'm thinking I'm GonNa make cornbread and thinking about it. 'cause ginny is making a sweet potato rolls okay. So she's making Matt. Ah I'm like maybe I can make like a mic like a cornbread like taking like nuts on it. That are kind of arranged ancient. Like a really cool interesting pattern would be really really delicious so thinking about making corn bread. I gotta make deviled eggs. I have like this really long list of like all the things I wanNA make. Do you remember all of them. I think are maybe GonNa Make Green Bean casserole year making mashed potatoes yeah. I like to make mashed potatoes because they don't trust what other people do with them. It takes a lot of Kim and practice to make good creamy or you can take a shortcut input mayonnaise. It's delicious scenes like every as it right. No that's what it is. You can't sit there. Yeah cocaine and was good. Yeah but I can't even better no. It could not have been better like the way you improve like the way you get more of the hardy earthy flavor and then that like thick fatty rich cream flavor. It's just my slowly adding the cream mixing it up butter cream butter cream mixed it to the right level. You just put me on ice deviled legs have managed in it too. So I mean you're getting mayonnaise time with mayonnaise. I'm saying I don't like it's not. It's not potatoes. It's cream. My Grandmother Mother always use mayonnaise and that is how I make mashed potatoes till this day to day. Cream and butter gets you better better texture flavor. A UH and stuff like that but I only make mashed potatoes like that on Thanksgiving really the time. I just don't put into it. Yeah Yeah I think another anything that I was thinking about making this year was a Mac and cheese. That one's a big. That's a good one. Yeah I haven't made from scratch right. Yeah which is relatively easy elmo. Macaroni pretty easy. Yeah you should. Also she's cream make a room makes it really Nice Jason Saucy Kinda thick. So you don't have like really like liquid cheese sauce make your own bread crumbs to go on top of it would be really good Ritz crackers. Make a good alternative jobs. Say just by breadcrumbs. I think we tried Megan breadcrumbs lash last time and they got like the overweight. We didn't make it somebody else made. We made it like three or four years ago. We brought it over to the house and semantics. Yeah overcooked. Yeah yeah yeah well so might make Mac and cheese another thing that I love to make our deserts. Everybody knows I love to bake. It's like meeting and and I probably have a better grasp on what I'm GonNa do for my deserts this year. 'cause I'M GONNA Pie. I always almost always make a pie. I last year I did a peach pear Carmen high card a month cardamom pie and it was really delicious. That was like one of the first pies I really made and now I'm at. I'm so much further with my baking that I know how to make the crust not soggy and things like like that so I think I'm GonNa make a fruit pie. Don't make a fruit pie then. Either I'M GONNA make up pecan Pie and get that to where it needs to be. That's another recipe. Yeah my ass. My grandmother four or a custard pie which I know you'll be really into and so either combination of Gin Pie. Shell okay. I haven't gotten to know I haven't gotten to that but we will get to that good. I'm making it and it's got every I making you shit so either a combination of two of those three. So are there pecan Pie a custard or maybe I could do like a fruit and custard like a fruit custard pie because that that that could be a thing. So that's one of the things I'm GonNa make. I'm also going to make Pumpkin hand pies. That is already on my list I'm making Pumpkin pies. Have A pumpkin filling. It'll be like a pumpkin pop tart a pumpkin poplar. Yeah I'm GonNa say right now I just want the most the basic classic later. If you don't think that my Pumpkin is for you you fucking rude ass okay. I'M GONNA make I'M GONNA go get like one of those pumpkin shapes and like make them in the shape of the Alvis acute that and and then those are my specific desserts. I might make a cake I did find a cake that had like a bourbon. Urban kind of sauce to it and I kind of want to do that. Like Bourbon is a good flavor for Thanksgiving. It's warm and sweet but on overly sweet it. It's going to be a good flavored kind of harness for sure..

"Like you know the whole world discuss quiet as soon as you put a guide it it's pretty breeze and you can still like I think the best part so our mind at work while I tried an awful noise cancellation yeah and so you can turn it off so that you can hear somebody right and you transparency mode and actually here like really well all right here so well it's like your music or whatever is still playing but the voices amplified so that right there's three modes there's noise cancellation there's off off which is just like you know normal yeah and then the transparency mode which uses the microphone and focuses on voices and like picks picks them up around you it's probably like proximity is like really important for that so maybe at like new jobs. Somebody's like a couple of cubicles over the you'll hear them. Yeah I've done at the airport or whatever so. The Galaxy Buds have had this for a while. Right air positives kind of really catching up. And that's the other thing about this is I'm just catching up. Like a brand new like way out there thing but anyway so that the galaxy buds have. I could walk through the airport with it on and like literally here. People people like fifty yards away. Having conversations is crazy but suba but I like so one thing about me is so now we're going to be. I'm going to be working like more cubicle Lake area even though my spaces like separate they're still a ton of people talking and like an open in space. And so that when I need to like focus and write something or read over something and edit something it's GonNa be really nice to have those like noise canceling. Oh Yeah Yeah it's GonNa be nice for sure but the other part of them is. They are all super sold out. I ordered mine the day they were released like I literally bought them and apples Like Hey if you pay twelve dollars extra we can get you shipping within the next four hours hours or you gotta wait a month and I was like okay. Twelve dollars extra then got it within four hours And then I ordered. Here's here's the next day and yeah it's they're not getting here for another thirty days almost so so you. They're hot item. But yeah they're super cool. Cool sideways case wireless charging and I'd like I'm down for it but we're off cycle for sure. I wish we had ban air pods to people because we could probably wait a year and get airports three. You're either a like four or four s Right or five or five s iphone user. Right because you re either on one upgrade cycle or another. We're on the like the dumb upgrade cycle dummy thick now the we're on like the four and five upgrade cycle. We don't even get the like speed boost extra stuff you know. So it's okay. We want to be on the cycle. But we're not right now but you said get them though if you're on gen ones and you're out there and your battery suffering suffering get them if you don't have air pas at all and you want you have an apple device on them get them if you're on jetties air pods. See if you can wait a year having we'll be better next year that's new. Airports are super super cool. Yeah Oh also on top of that we got like credible looks at the Motorola flip phone. We're supposed to come out. It'd be something else i WanNa talk about. But if you're GONNA go back and forth it's up to you know you talk about okay cool. So Motorola Razor come back back to the marketplace right the razor V. V. Three like probably the most popular phone of all time right back in the day so Motorola's trying to capture that craze make a new one foldable displays blah blah blah. It's super cool. I suggest everybody to phone arena dot com when I use and just look for it's super dope and just buy one just to buy one because it's so cool that's about it if let's raise her by it just because it's cool though. Yes okay fine. Yeah for that. I mean it's GonNa be. It's like a piece of history right like because like the galaxy fold. Men have been the first real foldable phone. But it wasn't like the most I well done. Even if the early versions right the Motorola Razor flip phone touchscreen foldable display everything here is going to be a whole nother beast especially when you can have it side by side with like. Here's what it looked like in the early two thousands buttons and all. Here's it it looks like now. That's pretty cool. So those are my thoughts on a flip phone on a phone MHM come back to this day for phone now I just like I also like the versatile real estate aside kick kick. I think we should have sidekicks. I think that should make a comeback. I do wish that we had something with like aside sliding keyboard we're watching we're watching Gilmore. Oh hard girls I think we were watching Gilmore girls the last time we actually recorded a couple of so yeah. We're so close to the but she now has a site or rory now house has has a sidekick and I'm like fuck I remember when every lake character on the CW that had like a tiny bit of money. All had sidekicks. I always ask coveted them. Wanted when there was like a huge rise in like the windows phone things with the lake side sliding yeah the side. Yeah Laura Gomer has a Sony Ericsson. Wait I got in the tenth grade preschools side sliding keyboard it has a top citing top sliding yeah. I don't think she has that one quite I think she has a little bar phone. Okay she did I loved. I loved my Sony Ericsson Fence. Yeah they're good but yeah but I think we should I would. I would love to see as a phone case that just had to keep built into it. Yeah I feel like it would have to be done in such a way. That like focuses phone cases are just getting shittier and Shittier and it would have to be done in search like it would cost one hundred dollars I feel yeah. That doesn't. That's not that bad like little leather case from Apple's like sixty bucks right that's true. Okay so make it more. I think the thing I have seen those cases or I saw saw those cases way back in the day with like the iphone Four. I remember there being case you could get like that or something right right. They just don't do it anymore. You know and it's like there'd be the perfect accessory. I'd love for apple to make one. That's all official in Nice. You know and that's all I need. Yeah but move onto the next one so the next thing was at that I have on my list is the new witcher trailer is so fucking cool right. I feel like there was a lot of times in the past where I've been like. Oh man this might not be good. But I'm getting my hopes up that this is going to be the super fucking guide I like super pumped about it. Well here's the thing is like you know. I think historically shows like this are pretty bad like they don't do a great job translating books to movies but they did. At the witch's. They translated the books to a video game really well. Yeah so yeah biggest playoff that. I think that's fine. We'll do a great job. Yeah no I totally agree with you but in this trailer we got some like Garol. Indiana Jennifer Their first encounter together. You see a lot of series Background which is Kinda cool and like getting not 'cause I don't I don't remember if like 'cause we never actually played through the first two. We played through third because of right like the hype. Remember serious necessarily in the Games and I've only read one of the books and I thought it was kind of cheesy but I ah I definitely have to go back and start reading it again. But Yeah so Justice E. Summit Series backstory which they talk about in the third witcher is really cool to. You're getting a lot of those characters that they bring up in the first couple of games and in the book that I don't necessarily assists -arily no which is also really cool for me because now it's GonNa come to me in a form where it's easily digestible. I'll have to play like six. It's GonNa be a different story to where it's like. You know not directly relatable to either one right they are going to be similar. Yeah but it seems like some of the Interactions between characters. They're going to be almost exactly the same. Like girl in. Yeah first first. Meeting is specifically not siding so that was cool. We got to see Henry cavill in the famous bath tub which is cool off and on. I think it's on Amazon. Or you can get on target or whatever they have a statue now of girl in the tub and it's like a really big kind of nicely done statue and I wanted for Christmas. Yeah Yeah give me that key thinks I want that and I want one of my. DC debnam chills. That's on the list but so yeah so. We got to see him and bathtub. So that was nice. You know give the fans what they want want and then we also got a live release date finally for this gay or show. TV show. No I'm trying to make it painful. Oh Wow that's weird okay. Well Oh and you're trying to stretch it okay. Well so we have released Lee state finally with this new trailer December twentieth or Nice. It's a Christmas Miracle Yep so speaking of which we have some other things that they're coming out soon and most notably Disney plus coming up tomorrow. Oh is it coming out Mara yes tomorrow. Oh that's so interesting thought about it. I do have problems like you know I was looking up all these dates. Yes I like thrown out there. 'CAUSE also just another one out there with morty thirty season for Blah Blah Blah weeks November twentieth. So let's coming out. That's when we could talk about more but we've talked about it already. I think in the last upset. It's like it's coming out it's great it's just wait for it to come out. They've killed all sorts of buzz and hype with their. You know it's kind of like long hiatus yeah. I don't feel as excited about it right but I do definitely feel excited about Disney plus. Yeah I said we have to figure out we're going to do there and tomorrow's the day right we'll probably get it but an issue that I'm having now is like one of the Disney execs. I I believe said that M. C. shows on Disney plus our Canon and in the Mt. You time line and so if you don't watch those shows it was here's my not gonna get all the movies like what are they going to do right. No I'm like if it's still a new movies. Well it's like they're trying signed to take the hype that they've gotten from the films in like force people to get their streaming service which is smart but it's also like as very obvious what they're doing anyway and that's GonNa turn people off and I think people are just not going to like what is it like. I don't need to understand the nuances between captain. Marvel one in Captain Marvel to you already saw like okay. I like Wanda Vision. I love the scarlet witch. I Love Vision. We saw probably not wash. Show is just not what I meant to like. I'm not going to dedicate a lot of my life to that a- and it's like why not doing anything important anymore yeah and like here's the thing the movies that you're coming out with don't master comics exactly verbatim step by step like it's not completely can into the comics. So why are you making the TV shows that now people people have to go out and pay extra for why are those now cannon and that timeline that their cannon but they're just not important yeah is that they said like you're not going to be able to get some things in the film probably some things in upcoming films all they could get and then I said what upcoming movies are good. We okay about the upcoming movies. We saw the end. I want Dr Shane and stuff coming out with another like. I'll watch all those movies but I'm telling you we're we're over the hill right so it's like who cares if I miss one upset that Tony Stark his dad and he's like I want nothing to do with any of this war is going to be crony. Tony Stark was the rise of the whole thing. Mr Chats in America we're done with both of those two characters yeah..
