So if I was the pacers, that's what I would look to do, acquire a really good guard who can pressure the basket at a high level and look to improve that way. I'm not saying it'll be this guy, but like someone in the vein of a jaylen sags like someone who fits their timeline that is just like a super downhill creator who defends at a high level on the ball particularly and is just really aggressive is what I would look for. Again, it won't be jail in socks because Orlando's control. But maybe that's also without the trade, say the product thing doesn't work. Somebody else kind of having the draft and J 90 you have like that fourth 5th ish type pick. That's a possibility too. Not a long commute for him to go to Purdue down to Indiana to play for the pacers. I'm not trying to get too far down the line, but that was probably some of the possibilities they thought about. And getting younger and looking at the freshman class and what's just stash and what these guys develop over time, we're not going to win this year, but build around tyrese halbert and built around maybe crystal Arte and the other pieces they already have. Yeah, if I was them, I would pretty aggressively pursue Jade and ivy in this year's draft. I think that's the exact guy that they need to make this work. But we'll see. No, I think that the pacers are off to a very strong start in their rebuild. They have a lot of really smart guys that are really scalable players, which will allow them to hopefully get the star here moving forward. It's almost like a raptors in rebuild, where they got the guys that fit around the star in now the raptors try and find the star and it might be Scotty Barnes. It might be this version of Pascal siakam that's been incredible since he has returned from his year and a half where he wasn't awesome. But by keeping OG and Adobe and I mean, Fred van vleet has turned into something different, but he was a guy that had a really high floor like some of the guys we're talking about like Chris duarte and tyrese Halliburton, right? But by keeping some of the guys that they kept around, Gary Trent junior signing him to his extension. They've set themselves up really well to have the pieces in place that once they get the star developed the star, they're going to be able to make a leap up the east and we're seeing that literally right now with what's going on. So, okay. Let's go to the next deal. The New Orleans pelicans acquire CJ McCollum Larry Nance junior and Tony Snell from the Portland Trail Blazers for Josh hart, Tomas Saturn ski. The four guards thing, I mean, there are lineups where you're like, man, this is like it's like ball plus Kobe white who's back plus AO, Io's rather IO to sue me. Who I like IO. He gets around screens, he's a competitor on the defense. He gets skinny he gets around screens. He's not afraid to take shots. I like him. And Caruso or balls like man, they're really playing four guards. When you look at, like, at least they're playing for two guards, like four legit like Kobe white is 6 5. Caruso is 6 5 or something like that. As well, right? Yeah, these guys are big Derozan and Levine can play three and have played a lot of three, like they're at least, there isn't like Lonzo, I think is 6 6. These are big guards. They have size, they're good rebounders. If you're gonna play a lot of guards, these are the kind of guards you wanna play to survive on defense the other thing is you mentioned juggling the matchups. It's a little dumb thing, but as soon as Randall went out of the game and top and went in the game, they shifted assignments so Derozan was on OB topping and the guards Caruso and ball could then go defend the guys they actually should be defending Derek rose or Kemba Walker ellick works. The dangerous guys. And to me, I think this is, you know, when Billy Donovan was coaching in Oklahoma City, the first couple years were all Russ and first rest in KD, then restaurants Russ, and everyone was like, I don't know what Billy Donovan stands for as a coach. And then they had the one year with Shay and CP three where he leaned into that three guard lineup with Dennis Schroeder. And now he's playing this style with the bulls and just getting these little decisions right in every game. And I think what Billy Donovan stands for as a coach is you have some coaches who are dogmatic and you gotta fit their style or not. He will adapt to his personnel, think outside the box ways that fit his personnel with the one exception is his team tend to be good on defense and fiercely competitive. If you don't do those things, you might not play. I think he's emerging as a really quality NBA coach. I love Donna. It's funny when you talk to him. It's a real, it's a procedural talk. What he'll say is, okay, here's the challenge, right? Like Williams is our whatever we have size, and then he kind of diagnoses potential solutions and then he offers the best one, right? And I made note of this in conversations. It's just he's a thinker. And again, like he pushes, he's and he loves pushing buttons. On personalities, and he loves having to make the lesser of challenging. Decisions. And I think he's doing a great job. Demar has been just off the charts and including his passing which has taken a leap incrementally almost every year. This is the best ever been in Lonzo just always doing fun stuff, set in flare screens, doing all this fun stuff. Big picture, they're interesting and actually make for an interesting comparison with the kings. You know, they reached this point where they make the Jimmy Butler trade. Which is a massive organizational pivot. We don't think we can win with butler plus mirror titch, plus all our picks plus cap space. You know, and then they do that and they're non butler rebuild kind of fails. Like they're not really going anywhere. They clearly didn't have a lot of faith in one del cardo junior or Lowry market. And Chris Dunn watched out, go back even further, Denzel Valentine, Tony Snell, the Doug McDermott trade. Like they just after Jimmy Butler they didn't get a lot out of the draft and the return from that trade ended up really just being Levine. And you reach this point as a mediocre to bad team who's already torn down once where you have a player like Levine is contract is coming up and you have a choice. So do we tear down again? Are fans going to tolerate that? We tear down again, or do we try to get better and hit lightning in a bottle where we trade for the right guys, we sign the right guy and everything measures together and we get good. Maybe we don't win a championship. Maybe we would even make a Conference Finals, but we get good and exciting and there's honor in that. And oh, by the way, we didn't mortgage the entire future to do it. And that's what they shot for. That's the decision they made. So we believe Zach lavine's an all star. We believe it's legit. We're gonna try to build around him. Yeah, they gave up fad, young and a pick for Derozan side and more money than that would have paid him, guess what? He's playing great. Lonzo, home run deal, right? Voc two first and Wendell Carter junior, that's the one that I thought was too steep at the time. We'll see, but they've built a good team the Caruso signing was a great signing and there's honor and being good and they're good and they're exciting. And that's the kind of decision that I bring up the kings because we're on tear down I mean, I don't know they've never really had anything to tear down. They've never really built anything. There's just sort of been a continuous fire burning all the time that they can't put out. But they're gonna face the same thing of like, do we go backwards again? Do we trade Fox for picks? Are fans gonna tolerate that? And they're gonna have to do the same thing. The bulls did, which was find a way to lift this team from 35 wins and say we can get better instead of getting worse. It's not easy to do. No, I think the hardest thing in the league is getting from, oh, we're a promising 34 win team. It's fun to watch and now start starting to win home games to very respectable. Like that 35 to 45 is I think one of the toughest jumps in the league. Speaking of which, let's end by talking about the Washington Wizards who lost at home to the Charlotte hornets. Their second straight loss to the horns east is just, I think there's 11 teams in the east right now who are 500 or better. This is a lot of fun, just so you don't know night tonight who's going to be who the whiz are 11 and 6, third in the east, 19th on offense, fourth on defense, fourth on defense. Tenth in net rating. They have not had Rui hachimura, the whole season, will his reintroduction soon help or hurt their team? We'll talk about that. They have not had Thomas Bryant. They've been missing Davis for tans lately. He's coming back soon. Neither didn't we nor be able have played lights out for the season and yet here they are 11 and 6. You still have a matisse you still have a maximum so that type of deal is more to me like you have to make a deal that will allow you to make another deal in the future. Because zillow doesn't put the team over the top is essentially your side. I think that deal makes the team better in the playoffs. But i don't think that is putting us with the boxer rats now but it's more so that thing given the conversations and the new information that have has benz stock in trade equity decrease that all for you maybe even a little. "We can move to the portland. Trailblazers the blazers last year. Finish forty two thirty and pretty close to their differential differential of a forty six point. Eight win team roster is somewhat similar to last year. Remember they got. they swapped. Norman powell for got norm powell exchange for gary Way through the season they traded dirksen junior and some picks for For larry nance junior. Which i think is going to be a big help in there is still the uncertainty swirling around damian lillard but for me i'd be the basic here is that last year the blazers had the differential a forty six point win team when they had the second worst defense in the league including horrendous bench defense and not every part of that is fixed but the cantor mellow minutes oregon. And while that could lead to some reduction in their offensive efficacy. I think there's more ground to gain improving defense than there is ground to lose weakening on offense. Yeah i haven't totally finished. I won't do it until the very start of the season. We go through. All the team previews but i to me. This is a team that went damian. Lillard has been healthy has looked by guitar. Five offense and yet the bench offense may not be quite as good. But i think they're going to be firmly in that mix with some of the other top offenses You i don't think they made enough changes. Yeah they brought it up the nate one stat on that in the last eight years portland has had a top seven offense six times and i believe at least one of the two years. The didn't lillard missed significant time. So forty three and a half. I mean it seems like they're iran this range over year It seems like i always end up going the over on portland. I'm kind of leaning that way again. This year i was seduced a year ago by some of the defensive changes that they made those obviously did didn't work although worth noting that when they had merkich and covington out there they actually defended just fine. It was just the bench. That was terrible now though. I think Their bench defensive should be relatively adequate. Cody zeller i think is an underrated pickup. He's probably above average defensive center for us a backup getting nance junior in there as well Nor impala the three. You know they're one through three are still pretty miserable. As far as the starters but having nance's a sub i think is good. Now nansen covington merkich like those guys could miss time. And that's maybe where things kind of fall apart anthony. Anthony simon still really sucks on defense otis. Ben michael moore who they brought in. Tony snell is pretty blah there. He's probably gonna get two minutes as a backup so you know. I don't think they're going to be world beaters. But could they get into like the high teens. Low twenty s. I think that's realistic. And i think they're to be top five on up so that to me is going to get them to more than forty three and a half wins. I'm not. I'm not going towards the stratosphere with these guys and i also worry that lillard just can't continue to play quite this level you know we've said that the last two years leslie because he keeps getting better every year in the near like a wait a minute like he asked his targeting worse at some point but Shooting does age pretty well. Cj looked really bad in the playoffs. I thought he never really looked in great shape after coming back from that foot. A what kind of year he has. I think is going to be really important. But cj after that start healing played at four forty seven games last year and nurture only played thirty seven right the the wrist issue so I think though that because of the way they went out to denver in the playoffs and because of the negative with lillard and maybe thought that he could again ask for trade. Obviously if that happens then they're going to go under but they'll go under whatever the fuck their line is if he they would have already been going under his my kinda thought on it like i don't think i don't think the blazers are going to trade damian lillard if they're over five hundred and they're competing in the west like they might in the offseason but i don't think they would during the year. Well i mean i. It's really what's matter whether he asked for a traitor. And i mean they're five games over and they're just not happening for them. 'cause that's a thought on this right is that you're really gonna like what's going to be good enough for damian lillard at this point in time. Is it going to be good enough. Like i mean. Unless if they're not on peace for homecourt advantage then maybe he does ask for the trade and then so i. I'm not sure about that. Actually danny that you wouldn't ask for the trade unless it looked like they were going under anyway because i think finally his standards are a little bit higher. You know this just looks like yet another one of these same years that they've been having all these times then maybe it's a little different so so that is a risk here like this isn't going to be one of my best butts to go over but i think i don't wanna price in like him getting traded. I don't think that's a good way to do it. You just gotta try to make the decision based on who's of available in what you think that group is going to do so. I think that you know. I mean it's one thing if we're talking about philly where ben simmons like. I'm not even going to be in camp. But here i think i will go over. I'm going over as well. I think i'm a little more confident in it than you. But i'm also not sure i'm gonna put it one of my best bats. We'll see you all shake all that out when we actually get there. They went fifty one in twenty one day at the differential over an eighty two game season. A fifty six win team and they are gonna be without dario charge for the year. But they didn't have any what i would call high end departures. They lost a couple of smaller guys. brought javale mcgee peyton landry shamet in a trade and vegas is negative on negative on where they're going to go because drops all the way to fifty point five wins. "Slash review series breaking down the Atlanta Hawks and the Dallas Mavericks to move the moves that they've made during the off season. What we think it's going to mean for them during this season, we're going to answer a bunch of questions as we go along the first and foremost, Keith Smith and I obviously we were on the same page because we both decided to wear blue shirts for today's show. I think that's a good omen Keith. Blue polo. What's wrong with the blue T-shirt, but I threw on the polo. I wanted to look good for you today. I felt that was a little sloppy. Last time. So I wanted to look good for you. Well, no kidding blue was always my first date shirt. In fact, I wore a blue shirt, my first date with my wife, so I always felt like a blue shirt had to be in some way a lucky color or something like that. So I think that that means this is going to be an absolutely great show today. Well, it was going to be anyway, but it certainly doesn't hurt at all. Let's break down what they did during this past off season, what it's going to mean for them during the season and everything else in between. Perfect. So we'll do guys is if you watch the other video where we did this with the Chicago Bulls and Portland trailblazers. We're going to go through who they added who they lost, who they retained, if there were other changes and transactions that happened with the franchise and we're going to ask a whole bunch of questions to each other and get into it. So starting out with the Atlanta Hawks, players added, relatively quiet off season, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. They added in Sharif Cooper on a two way contract. Gorgie Jiang came in. Jalen Johnson was drafted and then delon Wright. Point guard picked up via trade where they sent two guys who were gone now, Christopher and Bruno Fernando went to the Boston self interest in Thompson to the Sacramento Kings in the hawks, get delonge right. So flipping over to the guys that they lost. They already mentioned Dunham Fernando, Brandon Goodwin remains unsigned, Nathan knight signed a two way with the Minnesota Timberwolves. So he in effect is replaced by Sharif Cooper and then Tony Snell signed a one year minimum contract with the Portland trailblazers. So 5 guys out, four guys in. And then they did pretty good work of retaining some of their own free agents. We won't run through all the names that they retained here because you can read them and see them yourself. But the guys they resigned, John Collins was resigned. That was the big one. Obviously, that was the major reasoning, but Solomon hill a key role player for them, especially when they had injuries to guys at the forward line like Deandre hunter, then Lou Williams was resigned, a little bit of backcourt, depth there, another score. It then Skylar maze was brought back on another two way contract. So hawks roster, pretty well finished. They've got one open spot if they wave their camp in white guys and in that..

"Really improved his shooter over the last few years to the point where I feel pretty good about him knocking down 35% of his spot threes. So this is a deal that makes a lot of sense for the Portland trailblazers. I actually think that it doesn't totally reshape their team, but it fills multiple holes in a way that the off season prior to this acquisition just did not. I would be terrified if I was the Portland trailblazers prior to this Larry dance deal of going into a season with just use of nurkic and Cody zeller as my bigs. And Larry Nance is not an enormous big man by any stretch. And I think that if one of Yusuf nurkic or Cody zeller gets hurt, the blazers are probably gonna have to sign a true center in order to counteract that. The problem for Portland here is that that true center is something that is important in their scheme. So to have only gone into this off season prior to this deal having Cody zeller and Yusuf nurkic on the roster. I think was kind of a strange move given their injury histories. it, on the wing, they really only went out and got Tony Snell, and I know that Tony Snell had a great year last season shooting the ball. I think he went 50 50 like 95 or something like that from the free throw line because of limited attempts. But he's a very limited player. He's a decent three and D guy. He probably will be able to be their 8th man, but this is a team that even with Larry Nance, I think is still ripe for a shake up in some regard. The team is now given Norman Powell this 5 year $90 million deal in addition to the enormous deals given out the Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum. And I don't know that we know if those three can play together on a playoff court, quite yet. While Norman Powell is extremely long and has a 7 foot wingspan and his strong for his size, Damian Lillard and CJ McCollum and Norman Powell across the front line or across the backcourt seems like a way for teams to get their bigger shot making wings in the playoffs matched up on to smaller players that they can take advantage of. Now, what acquiring Larry Nance does is it allows you to counteract that by taking one of Lillard McCollum, Powell off the court and in this case it would probably be Powell. It also counteracts for potential injuries, which CJ McCollum only played about 50 games last year. So I think that being able to play a more traditional lineup because you have Larry Nance now that can play the four. Is specifically helpful..

That he leaves portland to say that daimler loses his brilliance in his greatness due to location is to diminish what dame lillard is a cold killer on that would court dame lillard is and when i think about this i think about another guy a few guys. That really came mind that i was like you know what they were loyal to their team. They was loyal to the soil. Stayed there and kept balling. I'm not going nowhere. I'm gonna get my game on. If he comes back and visits home they will still be daimler fans you know what a real fan would say about dame lillard if he went to somewhere else now. The one point that you make is good. Where does he go. I thought the seventy sixers situation could be a good one for daimler. Where does he go. That's a great question. But if he goes and he goes to get a championship. Those fans should be chairing and rooting him on. Because you couldn't put it together. Hey takes them to the to the to the playoffs every year. "And i obviously i have big problems with simmons and you don't lot of his value comes from pushing the ball up and you know maybe he can then kind of find lillard. Lillard can play more off the ball in the steph curry mode. He'd on powell and transition would fit together. Well yeah no. I think that's right like and giving giving these guys some pace some easier offense. They get better defensively. They might end up taking a step back offensively but you still have lillard And simmons at least can make a playoff a short roll. If you're he's gonna screen for For dame and they wanna double team like that dame simmons pick and roll now maybe they teams would just try and switch that And then you nurkic is going to set the screen for dame whereas ben simmons standing that obviously becomes a little bit more difficult but well. Where's it only matters if you're actually getting somebody towards the basket if you're not getting something towards the basket then might actually be. Okay yeah and You know the getting better defensively. As i've said. I think ben simmons is a pre overrated defensive. Liberties still has a one of the best perimeter defenders that there is so that helps you to be sure. It's certainly better than anyone. They've had in their recently. So i think. I probably would do that if i were portland and i wouldn't philly but that's because i don't think cj. I think they would always be a better team. But i don't. I think that sets the bar too low for me. Personally i think both teams i. It's interesting. I think both portland and philly. Just have a ton of risked with simmons and with cj riley. Both of those guys could really decline. And i dunno billy if they then had that first rounder. That can do something with also as we've been saving the philly one because we actually have to do a lot of work on this on this potential servants trades though as we go through some of the other teams they might trade with where we're getting some of that done so using the mini mid level are you. What is your priority. There is it another guard. is it I'd love to get a wing if you could. But the problem is there really. Aren't that many mini mid level. Like three so that you can sometimes have pal at the to and everything and then just be a nice thing. And maybe necessarily little steps into that role. But i don't have anybody especially if otto porter were occurred as much but if you were hurt that much then you wouldn't be able to get him for the middle mini mid level. I love paul millsap with this group. You know and think about that for the main mid level will see i. He's the guy who i really have. No idea what his situation is going to be like in terms of teams that are interested in but it would. It would be good for these guys to have the the possibility of playing a little bit smaller on the second unit and having a little more versatility. Yeah i mean jeff greener. Pj tucker could also do. Some of that tucker. I think we'll have offers. That are superior. He shouldn't or whatever especially because they have been is not guaranteed that he would start or close games for portland so and it's not like portland is a tier one championship contender. Like pg tiger. Damn well better. Better have superior yeah. "Bucks and Hawks start the NBA Eastern Conference finals tomorrow night at five survey game again, you right here on WTMJ, the Bucks and Hawks. When you think of great NBA rivalries that really doesn't make the list in the same breath of like, say, you know, Lakers Celtics riven Bulls Pistons, but they do have, uh, history. The two teams. In fact, there is some Milwaukee in the Hawks. Um, of course, we know the current stuff there's coach but who left Atlanta to come to Milwaukee thinking the Hawks were going to be part of a big rebuild? Well, that didn't take all that long did it And now look who's getting bigger in the Bucks windshield? Yeah, It's pretty crazy. How quickly they've turned things around and to be fairly hawks did go through a rebuild. It was just very expedited, and they just took out another team that went through a pretty prominent rebuilding the Philadelphia 76 years. They dubbed it the process, and now it looks like they're going to be processing once again, blowing it up and starting it over again. Our friend Dennis Crosby from Spectrum News, one, also part of the box and Packers, radio networks, points out the other obvious roster ties. Bogdan Bogdanovic, who was supposed to be a buck that trade fell through and word got up but lost the draft. Pick for tampering and Bogdanovich ends up with, Of course, Atlanta Although he's got a bum knee, I guess he may not play. He's kind of questionable about it. Yes, so he's a little dinged up and everybody is at this point. I totally forget about the most obvious connection between these two communities. Are these two teams at least and that is the fact that the Atlanta Hawks ruins the Milwaukee Hawks. They started out in the old days of the various leagues that were professional in the fifties in late forties, including Sheboygan, which had a team in the what would become the NBA for a few seasons. They were the Tri City Blackhawks. The Hawks were based in Moline, Rock Island, Illinois, and Davenport, Iowa, and they all grew. The Tri cities came to Milwaukee, where there was a brand new arena, waiting the one downtown that we go to now for Admirals games, and they were awful. They were bad teams until they drafted Bob 1954. Then they got good after they moved to ST Louis. So that was our like in the NBA, But yeah, And then the bucks came along in 1968. Well, there you go. "In the series against what is it ostensibly the best defense in the NBA, in my opinion. So great point, I I just kind of look at it and I thought, okay, this is going to be fun with tray. I think he's going to kill it, but at the same token, like Bogdan bogdanovic goes down and was not very effective in the series. Like I thought that was actually a critical part of any upset in Atlanta would pool. I thought that he would need to play really well. They got some performances from em early in the series, but by the end of the series is he was just acting up too much to where he couldn't play the under Hunter's out like wage earner. And this is like Don right now, for the playoffs, those are two guys plus, obviously camera. She was in an enormous part of this rebuild with the pic that they took in addition to Trey young in the Luka doncic trade, that's three guys that they're not really getting anything out of that are huge pieces of this team and I think it's a credit to the way that Travis schlenk Built the roster that yeah, they miss those guys but it's not a death knell for them because Kevin huerter has been great, click Appel has been pretty good and he at least dealt with the fact that you're well presented him and force him into those like mid-range shots. I think John, spectacular in Johnston. Yeah, I mean, it's made himself a lot of money off, I think. Yeah and and the Neo hit just enough shots in, Gallinari was really good in specific matchups. That's the thing that I think Nate McMillan has done really well. He is targeting, specific, matchups that, okay, we have a lot of guys that can go out and get Buckets. If Seth Curry is sitting on Kevin huerter, we're going to just attack with Kevin huerter. If Faith Hill is sitting on fanello. Gallinari. Yeah, you damn. Well better believe that we're going to attack with Danilo Gallinari and the reason that they can do that is because they have so much spacing on the court because John Collins is at least dog. Reasonable three point shooter, you know obviously Kevin huerter, Trae young, you know even like when Tony Snell comes in Tony Snell, obviously hit.

"They were outscored by five in seven minutes there. But that wasn't that wasn't the margin in the same way that it was before and part of that was. I thought not perfect minutes. But i thought hooligan helped helped out and the staggering of embiid shifting. His minutes around created some truly weird offensive collections for the sixers and there were points when they got a couple stops that they were able to get offense and transition but simmons and howard being out there together and ivy. There was one time where tobias harris tried to do a drive and he actually got a little bit of separation but then he couldn't get anywhere because we're already four guys standing in the paint. Yeah it was definitely difficult. Be neither team. Could hit anything from in the fact honestly. The hawks probably should have won the series by more in the end. Like i felt like they should have one game six They should have won game. Four by more And like they shot the three ball terribly in the series for what's essentially a good three point shooting team and bogdonovich was basically a shell by the end. Obviously they didn't even have one hundred begin with embiid. I mean. I think we can kinda shift to just it will. Obviously we got plenty of time before wednesday to talk about hawks. Box by the way your Championship favourite milwaukee bucks by the way even more so now maybe than they were after last night or the. I certainly think that the sons would give them a very good story and could win that but embiid the injury. I think definitely hurt. You know we didn't get to see him. Go against a real defense in this blouse. The hawks found ways and capella. It got better as the series went along. But you can say it was the injury which obviously is part of the whole calculation with joel embiid as well as you try to think about how good he is and you know this game. He was thirty one points. Eleven twenty one seven to ten from the foul line but he had a turnovers and so he wasn't really able whether it's the injury or just the nature of being a senator and having to play as many minutes as he has to and wearing down or maybe not being still in the greatest condition of that he ultimately didn't do enough in this series and yes he wasn't the worst culprit. He wasn't playing that far below norms. But for this sixers team to be a championship contender. He had to play like the best player in basketball. Like he. kinda dead during the regular season and unimpeded unambiguously the best part in the series and embiid was that but then the other times that he was not and for embiid like there there were significant moments in this game where he is his room. Deterrence was was a real thing and that atlano work taking. They weren't taking their shots spook them. Sometimes even when embiid was not there but then there were at the beginning of the third quarter trae was able to generate. Looks not for himself but by getting and this isn't entirely mb tall some of it is the separation that trae young was getting but he was able to draw 'em being away a little bit and then they were able to get baskets at In for example in the third quarter six of seven for atlanta they're inequality where they couldn't make three. They were over four from long distance. And so i'm not saying like is the reason that that all that stuff happened but he wasn't able to prevent it. The hawks figured out a couple of little tricks that it's you you exploited and that's also something we've talked about in terms of the limitations of a rim protector of central defense and so embiid had his dominant moments. And in this game. I you know he there were there. Were points where it's like. Oh they don't really have much stop in my thought it especially in the very early going and beads offense which really good and he was getting all the shots on cappella but overall in the second half and got fouled a few times but three shots in the paint six midrangers four threes and he shot well on those. But you could see that. He wasn't that that's what he wanted. And that's what you would ever going crazy on the live. Show where like capello's conceded a couple of the shots and then when gala nari nari did concede it but then embiid didn't take it. Get the steel that changes the game and gallo probably needs to get some more credible. I thought his first quarter. Or maybe like you know probably. Has i five six minutes. That he was in was just atrocious. Defensively at a bunch of places. We didn't know who he had. He was not closing out on guys away. Needed to use getting blown by. Add a couple of just atrocious. Mrs on jumpers early but then after that he hit six of eleven three of seven from three he was able to get just enough ice work on george hill to just give them a couple of points. It wasn't it wasn't like oh man that we're going to run the offense through him all the time but just with trae out of the game just to get a couple of buckets there. I mean in a game where. Every bucket counted also nate mcmillan. I thought coached a pretty good game. This time he learned. I think from leaving trae young on the bench too long in the fourth quarter game six went back to him after affiliate went on a run for you know really i think it was only a minute and a half or so that trait rusted. He played forty three minutes. Which is probably the most he realistically could have. Played a in this game seven. So i thought he managed he managed mcdonagh bitch wall. Got him just a couple of minutes. They needed someone to just eat. Those innings played a little defense tobias harris to start the game. But also you know didn't fall in love with them. Went with gallo at the three. Just going to gallo at the three at all in this series rather than solomon hill or tony snell. Both of whom didn't play while. Obviously but you know he got to that really by game three. That was the way he went to play. Gallo three and against this particular team. That was able to work out. So i thought i don't. I wouldn't say that. Like doc rivers coached a bad series in this game. You know people talk pointed to some collapses like game five south but That he should have done more. But i think it's again if you had to put it on the coach or the limitations of the roster. I i'm putting it on the limitations of the roster i well. That's a good transition into ben simmons and we could start with the staff that tom average show tweeted out. That ben simmons took three field goals in the attempts in the fourth quarter of this entire series and that was to in game one which he made and one in game three no shots from the field in four five six seven. And i thought what are the most telling moments of this entire hall man. This was atrocious. Was when simmons got it was with gallinari. Gallon goes for what you. And i had a little bit different theories on it but i thought it was galadari. Basically saying okay. I'm going to swipe for the steel. And if i don't get steel i'm going to and i don't care instead. Neither of those happens. Simmons has a wide open dunks. Closest guy to him is trae. Young and simmons doesn't go up for the dunk doesn't try anything. He just dumps it off to takaiser. I wanna say was actually write. It wasn't able that's true. It's not even it's like a great i mean the esa. He's got it. He been position at dunkin. Who's right in the remedy certainly could have just laid it in and he sees trae coming over. Who's just going to go for a stripper. something probably would have just fouled him but he was terrified. So i don't expect i don't expect them to make noise with their cap space whether that includes winslow or not you'll probably glossed over nick batum a little bit too much in his situation because he signed for the minimum with the clippers. The most they'll be able to pay him is pretty likely the taxpayer mid level assuming that comes back yet because non burg rights are basically useless. Unless he's willing to sign for close to the minimum a little stronger case because his minimum is so high but not very much. Yeah and actually probably got assume serge. "Not a big salary. It is only four point 1 million because of that that makes them hard to trade really hard. You can't take back Tim Hardaway Jr. The the Hawks don't have a big exception. Now with the Hawks do have is they've got Tony Snell's twelve point two million dollar expiring that could kind of work as a, you know, human trade exception wage. That they could send back and in in you know attach it to Collins, but I see a lot of John Collins and stuff there Hawks can't take back a big salary just for John Collins. Now off. The other thing is I I don't hate Collins to the Mavericks Collins porzingis looka-here pretty shy D actively I'm being able to stop anybody but offensive League. Good luck.
