PMS 2.0 021 - From Offensive Line To Tony Robbins
On today's show, Pat sits down with the guys for a couple of conversations covering everything going on in the world. Digs and Zito join the show to discuss Zito's weekend in Chicago and his blogging efforts, and Digs gives his takeaways from week 10 of the NFL, including a couple of awards he'd like to give out, and he and Pat discuss their rough weekends gambling. Todd and Connor pop in later for an incredible conversation covering whether or not Duke is going to get beat this year, what happened in the Patriots/Titans game, and the guys do a deep dive into Tony Robbins after Pat spent the weekend watching a documentary detailing one of his seminars. Also calling into the show is injured Center for the Arizona Cardinals and former Penn State standout, AQ Shipley. They chat about Quenton Nelson's block, AQ's time at Penn State, Zach Smith and Tom Herman's beef, and the feeling inside Arizona's locker room (32:23-52:50). It's a good one. Come and laugh with us. Cheers.

"Isn't that the same squirrel?"
Previously on the Tony Kornheiser show. We ought to be a Notre Dame bar. I'm labor. Should we Chris big side for Chris? But you don't. You don't have you don't have a dog in this fight. Mr Tony? Yes. We'll get to that in a second win Georgetown Georgetown. Twenty-three. Fordham eleven? Okay. Okay. You're not going to play Notre Dame, aren't we? This is General George Washington, and you're listening to the Tony Kornheiser. So I did tell us last night to go out and get a Notre Dame flag. There's no Dame as national school, and people will come to a bar to watch Notre Dame if they feel they Notre Dame friendly environment, and people hate Notre Dame will come as well and cheer against because Notre Dame is polarizing. I was a fan of Notre Dame with going up on Long Island did not have any college football, New York metro area didn't really have any closest big-time team with Syracuse. Right. So you're not name thing. Good mechanism? No, not really good in football. That's the voice of David. All here lives. Clark's voice. Michael Kornheiser is back from his mini vacation on Columbus Day weekend. The great Bill Isaacson is sitting with us and Nigel will run the board and do the news. We're at chatter, which is at the corner was kansin northwest and Jennifer streets, northwest. We are newly decorated in front beautifully. So with a Halloween motif that last night, Nancy beub came over and just brought a stager and the stager God knows what this cost and the stage you put all of these beautiful things outside. Then our lights weren't working. The restaurant must be doing really well. I hope that's true. Our lights weren't working so Alan byu, a went out and and got some extension cords. Nancy. One of the little who is here yesterday from Iowa with the Drake shirt was came to the bar last night and was put to work outside, put to work doing electrical work hours, including accompanying Nancy to rod. Orden's down the street in order to get extension cords and plugs and stuff like that. And he's back here today, and I said, just run run for the hills if Nancy shows up because then you're going to end up in Georgetown cleaning houses that she's trying to get a little something for the effort. I don't think he did. I wish he did. I'm sorry about that. So let me thank Jimmy Crillon data, Columbia members last night for showing up for the Redskins game. Let me thank Amtrak, Nick, Nick Genevieve's. She was here last night, which I appreciate very much and let us get to the game and the Redskins had Monday night football last night in New Orleans. Okay. New Orleans is projected to be a better team, but the Redskins started out at two and one and we're on top and are in fact still on top of the terrible, terrible NFC east yesterday five, six, seven people would stop me. This occasionally happens on the way into various works and they'll go skins tonight and go ahead. No, and I would say, and this happened at the bar. You like the skin tonight. And I said, look, if they were to win this game, which means they would have beaten Green Bay and the warlords. Yeah. Then you could fairly say that they had a chance to win their division to make the playoffs because that would be relatively impressive wins. Even though Green Bay has fallen a little bit, but relatively impressive wins. And they said, well, what do you think is that? I honestly don't think so. I mean at the risk of driving you from the bar at chatter, I don't think the Redskins are going to win. If I were to ask you an Alex Smith is a good quarterback. If I were to ask you which quarterback between Alex Smith and ju- breeze, do you think went twenty six for twenty nine. Let me repeat that. You miss three twenty six for twenty. Nine with three touchdowns and three hundred sixty three yards. David, would you say Alex Smith more drew Brees jeopardy music tune? I'm gonna go down. Agrees Liz, yeah. Well, the answer is drew Brees and and this was this was what we call in the bedding world a boat race. They put this game on TV. They put this on the schedule with the calculation that what Jubran has done over twelve to fifteen years in the league indicated by the time he was going to break Peyton Manning's record that game five, Matt home might be a good spot to start her. They did something when he broke the record at the end of the tortilla first half the first half of a sideline pass to somebody who's never somebody named smack was. And remarkably wide open for football went down the field. And so he breaks the record any breaks it with a touchdown, and the family had been brought out five minutes before the life, the four children breeze. What ended the guy in white gloves gonna take the take the ball to canton, hit guy, this whole seven and kept Kevin Hart from the. This whole ceremony was said and the kisses, the family, and he waves to the crowd and all of this. And I'm going to tell you this this too. Yeah. Yeah, because they had missed an extra point. All of that, celebrating if this was baseball, the next banner New Orleans is getting hit in the hat and the head because this was maybe two, this one, you covered the Redskins. This was an unbelievably shameful dismissal of the. Was it not the other team ES? It was, but that is hardly the reason the Redskins. But it was only throw them off their game plan perfectly executed efforts. What you know what I mean? I mean, I, it was a departure day were like every like Clements hits the next three. Batters wasn't just it wasn't the saints. It was the now it was like, and he's going to break the record probably in the next series. There's there was there was such a dismissal of of Washington have anything to do any resistance whatsoever. It would have been in the first half home. I got the family this earlier. Every time they show Jay Gruden. It was in despair just standing. They had such a tight shot. Nobody was ever around him and he looked like this lonely loser. Titi ninety looked like a lonely loser, and everything was set up for that to happen. I've look New Orleans is significantly better than the rents can bench, Josh pay, Josh Norman, five hundred million dollars benched him not significantly better, which is the problem because they looked like they were significantly better last night which speaks to the Nepta tude. Of the Redskins. I mean, Josh Norman hasn't had an interception since two thousand sixteen December two thousand because he's had about him penalties since he's had a lot of money since then a so late in the first half the Redskins go go down the field, they how did they acquire? The ball was fumble or something in the first half when Alex Smith walked in Alex Saito baton just said he'd give us. You're gonna turn over. Yes, I thought it was. It was a completed pass fumble if I'm statement. That's right. The Redskins Alex Smith calls a quarterback draw. Yeah, goodbye goes right in on touch. It's twenty six, thirteen. And you say to yourself? Well, maybe not. Maybe they're back in holding the first time. The saints got the ball in the third quarter, March right down. Got it. Got it. On an interception, a bad interception went four yards and they went in and the game is over and they end up what's the final forty? Three nineteen am not kidding. They could've scored sixty easily if they wanted to forty three nineteen and it's it's just they're still in first place in their division. But now when you're when you're looking at them today, you and that is awful. The giants are awful when you how boys are awful, something bad has happened to Philadelphia. They're not all bad is they'll be better. I like their chances of getting together. Yeah, just being defending champs and getting everybody's best shot and you know that happens, what did you? What would you take away from this Redskin perform? It was, you know? Unfortunately, it was the same thing that I've seen from this team the last ten years, which is. They win one game. They think they're cockatoo walk and they just start backing you Strutton that send they get their doors blown off in the next gay. So I mean, not. I'm sorry not to mention that. I mean a so much of this was predictable Datsun has not shown up since he was picked. There was no reason to think this was the year. He's going to blossom their off-season was atrocious, you know, they, they're really paying the price for trading way KENDALL fuller. There's there's no Cornerbacks at all. Maybe he would have been option. So and they did nothing at left guard. They had to lineman at a position last night to compensate for Lavelle being out. Those they didn't address any of that in the offseason. It was a terrible season. And then then what David said is true, they get so full of themselves after can you if you're the coaching staff, how can you even allow that to happen seen this happen? This part of the issue, you know, coaching staff. So I've been in that building when this was predictable. The first game back from Katrina was a Monday night game thousand six. I was there tone set a low to you. They played it lands. You'll forgive me if I didn't remember that. They played Atlanta and that was like forty, two, ten like forty two, no member who blocked the punt Steve Gleevec fleece in who has or has list. Okay, right, right. So that and that was that's just about the loudest place we've ever been was incredible, and it was uplifting for the city and the country on some level that they went back into that dump. And that building is a dump. They went back into that and they showed so well and drew Brees who wanted to play there. That was his first year. There had been cut by San Diego in effect. They had Philip rivers. He had a bad, a bad shoulder. He thought he would sign with Miami. Nick Sabin ultimately was a coach, Nick Sabin didn't take them Sean Payton. And this is this is this is a Bellichik Brady combination not ask successful, but next varies next and do Jubran has been there forever has embraced the city. And all of that is a hall of fame player without any question. They set this game up for drew Brees and he he's equal to it. And by the way, I think this should be pointed out. He's like five eleven? Yeah. Yeah. He's not six feet tall that that night the two quarterbacks, Michael Vick and Jubran smallest combat possible history of the NFL since Eddie lebaron. So now you're Baker Mayfield and you can say to yourself what you can do it. I mean, 'cause drew Brees. And that building last night probably is the same. It was saying decibel and raucous. And once again. It was just it was the other dismissal of them on every level by everybody associated with that game as if they were literally, if they will Washington. I was thinking setup situation for red Klotz in the Washington generals. Anything man. That's exactly right. So you just get punked on national TV again and arena, given the arena given going up against in Brees. How can you allow your defense to get drives stopping plays that just are allowed to continue with penalties three times in row that lead to touchdown. Right, right. And the announcer said, you can't take that penalty. You can't take that melting and they do it all the time. And that's coaching? Yes. Where else do you look? I think so. Again keeps happening. There's only one constant players journey in and out over the last five years. It's only one constant. So Carrigan got the Big Mac, ten, and then character feet from a Monica's shoves a guy when the plays over and knocks over. So when you think now that the next time you see any of us and he said, well, we think skins gun when they're going to fail. That's what they're going to do, what they do, they'll win one next week guarantee it, but they don't double down. How many nights you why this? Well, I mean for forever ago, all four of Gruden the last four up till the, there's there's this glimmer of hope. And then the next week, they'll the wagons and play great against Carolina, maybe when the game, but this is the same show over and over, you know? And I have to say, it's also you're seeing if you look for it, the absence of Sean McVeigh. You know when when the offense was precise in Ren? Well, you know it was pretty good. Doing anything for kids. And I'm sorry, I do think Kirk cousins mass, a lot of problems in the offense and and now he's gone to a some people got healthy last night. Chuck Todd, got healthy. He finished three, three and one this week. He's eighteen fifteen and two. So he's plus three. The monkey took gas one one and two. The monkey is six. Say the monkey take the Redskins monkey took the Redskins. James Carville went to and one that's good. James Carville won the Texas Oklahoma game, which really surprised. I really surprised me on that, but he got beat by UCLA's to and one of these five, six one and Jeff mop was three and two was not involved in this game, Jeff. Mons thirteen nine and one he's plus four for so there. There are two people. You can bet with camp up with the semi-in and win, but now currently that would lie six eight from a monkey. Monkey I will be chasing lockenfora of CBS talked about the NFL when we return. I'm Tony Kornheiser. This is the Tony Kornheiser show. This is a new, read a Michael screens. She is based out of a. and his currently producing well, mate and produce pop tracks. Variety of different producers and artists don't let the production value these songs full you. She can flat out sing with the best of them after two years of listening to the show. I finally thought it was time to share Morgan's music with a podcast has become a staple of my daily life. Morgan is not little yet and to the honest, it was very, very hard to explain how a local, not national DC area sports podcast, speech, you know, host days. Days could ever help or get some exposure, but maybe we can change them on. You can get a music on all major platforms and be on the lookout for shows in the LA area. Again, Morgan Saint chain, the talent level. As we say, all this is beyond us. It's just simply beyond us, Jason lockenfora CBS sports joins us now. And before we get into football house, the dog house the dog hanging in there tone. He's he's on lots of doggy opioids right now. So that's that's happened. He's got a lot of painkillers stuff going on. But yeah, he we found out he had a really bad tear in his right hind ACO. And then I guess compensating for that he has a more recent tear in his left hind SEAL. So. Did you get online. Don't want anything for Christmas. I know that Marty told my wife like I, I will be paying for two doggy surgeries, so please don't even get me socks underwear this year. I'm good. Oh base, but save every penny for the cop ratio fund. So yes. So you've got that you've got a surge in and you, you know? Oh yeah, I gotta have the couldn't. I mean it's like a, it's like a regular thing like I had. I've got a meet with the orthopedic surgeon in two weeks, and then we come up with a plan and which one we're going to do. I and I guess they put tiny little plates in there. These. I mean, I, I don't know, it's it's it's a whole new world for me tone. But yeah, I think we'll have a pretty low key winter around here. Me and the doggie. So I have. I have explain this to people before, but not necessarily publicly, Keith Olbermann is a dog person as well. Yeah, there are dog person or you want, or you're not Keith Olbermann. It's a dog person. He has these tiny little bitty dogs like, you know, eight, nine pound dogs and the names of which scares me tease multi multi stocks. And one of them had a heart problem and Keith at the heart is so tiny in these dogs. Yeah, and keep. You know, it's is there for the surgery and recuperation and all of that. And you know, Keith, go walks dogs in central park. These tiny little dogs, and this is something if you are a dog person, you have tremendous empathy and sympathy for people who are in this plight. So we love that dog who we only know through barking, but we love that dog and so we hope everything works out. We appreciate your support and a rescue. He's a, he's a tough little cookie. I mean, he's obviously it's been bothering him for a while. We didn't really know until it affected his gate, but he never will. You know he wasn't crying or yelping or anything. He's a, yeah, he's he's a little guy. He's he's my work from home. It's really me and him here. You know what I mean? We've got all over teams taking this phone call that phone call. So yeah, anyway, enough about copper, but thank you very much and we appreciate the love and support. Okay. To plays over the weekend. Jason Garrett in overtime. Punts McVeigh late in the. Game goes for fourth and one tells us quarterback. You've seen Tom Brady make this play, make the same plant that one works. The other doesn't. The different situations overtime, tie game. The Rams are ahead and trying to run out the clock and the Rams are undefeated, and the Cowboys aren't very good, but can you? You know, I'm sure that those plays when you're watching these games, you write them down and they are something to talk about. So talk about them. Well, it's very odd to me because Jerry Jones would have you believe that Dallas in LA is the same offense. Right? The outcomes and the schematics and the strategy would be the same. Alas, I, I mean, I just think it it. It really crystallizes the difference between the mindset, the mentality just sort of the the ethos of some coaches versus their predecessors. And I think Jason Garrett played in an era where you know the the eighties nineties NFC east, you guys know what that was all about, and you know, Joe Gibbs above all else was risk averse. You know what I mean? And I think that whole division, especially when LT became the game record, he was it was all about risk aversion. And you know, let's just play to win by one or two or three or whatever, and and just don't bleep it up. And there's a very different generation of of coach and. And and play caller who I think's Sean McVay Cal Shanahan you know, Adam gays to a certain degree, although he doesn't have he picked the wrong quarterback to hitch his wagon to, but you know, these guys are much more cutthroat. Go for it. You know, when the opportunities present when the number say you should do this and you think you are smarter than the guy on the sideline for the most part, then you do it. And I, I mean, I just think it Jason Garrett is there because he's the path of least resistance for Jerry Jones to run every single morsel of that organization. Yes. And so that's why whenever people have been asking for three years, but Jason GARRETT'S job security, I'm like, I don't like we're, we're in an all like a parallel universe in the real NFL. He's gone years ago, but in the Jerry Jones NFL Jerry can emasculate him to the press after the game. Jerry can say how dummy is even though he's really just trying to do with Jerry wants, and then Jerry will probably keep him around because he doesn't want to. It heads with a Parcells. He doesn't wanna go spend ten million dollars on a John Harbaugh. I'm gonna Jim Harbaugh just to fight him every Sunday night and Monday morning he he wants a guy who's going to be sort of his company man and loyal to a fault. And that's casing Garrett. I could not agree more with that. And I mean, that is the Jerry Jones model is what is now the baseball model with general managers and managers clients, you know, that's how it works. You want your manager to just do exactly what you say. You're calling the shots, and that's what happens if the baseball revolution is numbers revolution, and I think the people who were sticking to the Jerry Jones model. You know what I mean? School. You're right. Wolf. All school guy who thinks he's got it all figured out. So I don't know. The look at the numbers. I don't need higher budget kids from Stanford. Tell me what to do or to change my place sheet or when I go to. And when I don't because I know how the games played. No, you're right about that. No, that's a great now. I'll move onto a team. I at the obvious question when you watch the Redskins and the Cowboys in the giants now terrible, they. Don't have to Philadelphia is they're serious trouble there or or or not. I think they're serious trouble, but to your point, you're grading them on a curve to get in the playoffs. They only have to be better than those three to mokes. At the right, you know, I mean, you have to evaluate their tire fire versus the weekly Odal Beckham saga or the eagles who. I mean, you know, yeah, they can't run the ball right now. They can't stop the pass. It got some issues, but they also have an owner who's fully committed. They have a general manager who has proven to be in that Sean McVeigh cutthroat go for it. I'd rather be wrong trying to be right than just sitting on my hands and they're not done. And there's three weeks plus before the trade deadline or what's today? Tuesday, I guess maybe three weeks from today. There's people like Levy on bell who they've been sniffing around on for a while. I don't think they're just going to say, oh, well, it's not our year. You know too bad. What was j. he's down now. We had to rely on Wendell Smallwood down twenty two, three r feature back against the Vikings. I guess that's just how the fates have aligned for us. Now they're going to go out and shake it up and you saw what he did last year. It was really. That Jay Johnny trade that that kind of got them energized and got them going in the different direction. So I would say, let's talk about the eagles around thanksgiving when some of their I expected to make multiple moves. Do they all work? I don't know, but let they're kind of like the patriots to me, let let's see where they are in the second half because they just have to tread water through this. I don't see anybody else in that division making power not after last night. No, you certainly don't. After last night, you mentioned a bunch of guys who were who gained fame in recent years as go for it, offensive coordinators. One of the ones you mentioned caused Shanahan. He went to San Francisco. The thing that he left behind that was in the Super Bowl two years ago, the Atlanta Falcons look, they look John, they done and they've got running backs and they've got Julio Jones. What what is going on there. I mean, I start with injuries, which. I mean, whatever you want to Termine and excuse the caveat it's real for them and they, they, they lost a lot of speed on their defense and a lot of impact on the defense through injury that when you pay as much money to some guys as they do, you're not you're depth will be compromised, and their brain power has been compromised in recent years. And I think you start right there with Cal Santa head. I mean, this was another game or Julio Jones doesn't get a catch until garbage time. They're down by three or four scores. By the time he gets the ball in his hands. That's not all Steve Sarkisian by, it's not know Steve Sarkisian either. And now they've got offense of line problems, Matt Ryan with a super clean pocket can function at a high level, Matt Ryan under duress. You know, no point. Oh, so I think they're in trouble. They play five of five of their first seven or at home than they have the by week eight. The best case for them is they stumble into that three and four, and I don't know that they beat the bucks or giants at home. I think they may lose one of those games because because they'll Becca might catch ten balls for two hundred and fifty yards on them, you know, and who's starting Mike Evans right now and where's the pass rush they they've got significant issues and I think that owners gonna come in there at the by week and say to that head coach, okay. Pick a coordinator fire, or you can fire them both whatever you're going to run the defense because that's what I brought you here to do. And this this outfit butter look better in the second half of the season in the first half, or I don't care who got extensions around here. You know, I got the stadium built. I'm hosting the Super Bowl. I bit my tongue when we blew that Super Bowl. I bit my tongue last year. I'm paying this quarterback thirty million dollars a year now, and this is what you're giving me not good enough. Yeah, I think Dan Quinn is, you know, on the list of people who may be saying goodbye because he's a defensive oriented guy in a league now that's all about offense. Right? I mean, one thing, if you're that guy and you've got your couch Shanahan, you've got here. We'll see what Nagy becomes in Chicago, but he's he's, you know, a guy who's got that Andy Reid sort of touch of brilliance, if you've got that guy, that's great. But when you lose that guy and then he takes his three top lieutenants with him, and then you bring in dude from the street to try to run that often. And at the same time you're defense start slipping. And again, injuries are a large part of it, but I'm sorry, that's the league then. Yeah, you quickly find yourself in trouble. I mean, they could go into the by last place in that division. I mean that that's not who they thought they were. All right. Drew Brees had the record last night, had it in the first half brought his entire family, and he could have brought your entire family in mind out there celebrate knowing that. Again, as we said earlier on the show, it's not baseball. So you're not gonna get drilled in the head right ridiculous celebration. But how good historically has drew Brees. I mean, he's he's way up there. I mean, you can. You can quantify part of it by saying what he played in this era of, you know, more prolific passing attempts than we've ever seen in history and you can try to tamp it down with some of those metrics. But the bottom line is even by those standards, he's rising foreign above and. I think he gets taken for granted a little bit because he doesn't look. You know what I mean? He just, he just doesn't look the part. And I think that's in the back of a lot of people's minds just sorta resonates in the same way. I don't think Russell Wilson will truly be appreciated by certain group of people just because the way he does, it doesn't look like the way they saw it growing up or the way they envision it to be. But I mean. I'm Barbara at I, I really do and you. You can trace through his career. You know, you've got it sort of generational player when you can go back to pivot points in his career, and it affects multiple franchises organizations in schools. Like I mean, if sandiego just picks him and doesn't do the whole Eli for Philip rivers thing does that, you know if they stick with him, does that what does that do for them is that team still keeps don't San Diego. You know if they've got drew Brees and ladainian Tomlinson together, you know, in their peak for five more years, like do they win a couple of Super Bowls and get a stadium Bill if Miami signed him and not call peppered the Sabin ever go back to college football, the Alabama dynasty ever happened. And then if he doesn't end up in New Orleans with Sean Payton, post Katrina and what he meant to that franchise, I'm not going to overstate what it meant to the city, but what people forget Benson was quietly shopping all over the place. Tony, Tony, Tony, Blair. Where is there an someplace in California? That would make sense like they were on anything but stable footing and now you know, they're in the Super Bowl rotation. They're still hosting every few years and they're competing more often than not. I mean, that's it's not all drew Brees, but like that's not everybody's career arc and not that many people have the ability to sort of have that kind of reach and that sort of ripple effect and he didn't make all the decisions are made form. I mean, it's not like he had ten teams chasing him when he went to Miami, he was considered a medical reject hundred percent hundred sent. I remember that. Well, Jason, I don't want you to disturb the dog. I want you to plug your podcast, but I don't want to disturb. I'm actually upstairs and he can't go up the steps. Okay. And so I think we're all right tone. It's a somber time around here. Man with the EM show. We got wounded doll, OJ goddess skippered ain't got a GM. Got nothing. And are we selling anything today? Yes. So we still have the promo code TK fall, Johnny elder friends at Johnny. Oh, and remember fall is all about layering. So we are telling you take a look at that time ho two way vest. As you get ready for tailgate, sees in firepit season, go into games, taking long walks through the the orchard. Through the orchard. Pumpkin or a child. Did you take long walks through the orchard with, but that's fine. Sort of I'm trying to create memories for my own son as to sit on the on the front steps, carving pumpkins together in our two way Tahoe vests, wine, tyrant. His wearing her Tilly long sleeved polo shirts, joining stuff is wonderful task and we are happy to help them sell their stuff than we are happy to wear this stuff as well. Nigel is going to do the news now. Yes, indeed, Mr Tony, we'll start off with the association excited about that season starts. And what about eight or nine days from today? There you go. We'll bonds excited. Every single break in the PTI show was, oh, boy. Can't wait for this. This game in November is going to be Greg stop. Let's and buddy on the Phoenix Suns who thinks you're going to be on the team that she take one step forward. General manager, Ryan mcdonagh not so fat. You not sure why don't we talk after class. Who have any opinion as to why they would do this on our season. Robert Service on seem. It's just that simple. This is showing mcdonagh's brother. Who had a good draft. Well, look, Andrea eight Mikhail britches. Well, yeah. I mean, he's the number one pick. It's hard to mess up in the morning pick but really hard. I know. I know. Local too. Yeah. Yeah, I know too. So. You could affiars him a year ago two years ago because the record has been very inconsistent and spotty for Ryan mcdonagh. They had two top ten picks, and they took marquees Chris and Dragen bender neither one of whom has had a sniffer being good in this league. They, they traded inexplicably for Isaiah Thomas when they already had two point guards and then inexplicably traded Thomas, the Boston and one of, but no point guards. So it's been very weird. But as you said, they had a very good off-season eight and gives you some hope. They engineered nice trade to get the bridges on over. Yeah, they signed Trevor Reza who's good, solid player. Good, good locker room guys. So you think, okay to have him here in Washington. He was excellent to bad. He's he somehow left for some reason. You could say, hey, they've got the skeleton of something, maybe turn this thing around a little bit. And then a week before the season starts. Very far, the GM. Very odd, just weird. Yeah, this is going to be surprised that there's more to that story. I'm not surprised by speaking being fired, Mike stoops no longer the defensive coordinator for Oklahoma. This coming on the heels of the Sooners loss to Texas forty eight, forty five and allowing five hundred one yards to the longhorns. So a team that lost to the university of Maryland. That's right. That's right. Everything is always couched in Texas, which laws, right. Okay. So we'll say is gets on PTI and says, I don't understand why they would fire this guy. This is college. You don't fire midseason college and I go, it's not college. There's a professor this, the university of Oklahoma is a professional football team in the way that Ohio State don't give me college. And I said to him, they stink right there. Rank ninety six in defense across the. Country. Now you can't. You have hopes of going in there. So championship cannot be ranked ninety six. They allowed army and Baylor to possess the ball for a longer period of time than they didn't. So don't, you know, and we'll was like, how could you look to me? And he said, so you're affirming that they ought to be able to fire a college coach to the year, and I went, yeah. Yeah. The notion that that's college. Do you think the university of Kentucky basketball team you think that's college? You didn't do us college stop in. You tell roll up stoops's and teaching like advanced chemistry, stop it. So they now that got rid of all of the stoops. Yes. Stupid. Yes. By the way, just to tack onto some of those defensive numbers, they finished last the last season finished eightieth in the country in two thousand sixteen eighty. Second thousand seven and yards per play. Allow you are you have pretensions to play in the championship. You can't be worse than thirty. You just cannot be. You can't be if you're number one in offense and that guy Cuyler Maury, Baker Mayfield, sir. If you're number one in offense, you still have to be in the top thirty in defense, too. Yeah. Lose and they lost team that lost to Maryland. You mentioned Maryland. They played and lost to Michigan at Michigan. This past weekend, there was a booster, the former president of the terrapin club by the name of Rick Jacklick who was scheduled to travel with the team. But when some of the players saw his name on the teams travel itinerary, they went to the department and said, can you please keep him off the flight? This is because Jacqueline head come out and very vocally supported DJ Duggan. And by the way is right? Yes, sure. But he appeared to say in his comments that McNair Jordan joining the young football player who passed away during the practices last spring with somewhat to blame because he hadn't properly hydrate. Okay. So that's the wrong thing to say. Yes. When you have the college presidents saying, we are morally unfit weekly responsible for everything that happened. You don't say that, so they kicked him off the plane? Yes. Okay. More seats for someone else, right? Yes. Editor realize you normally don't like to. I'm just glad that the students saw him and said, no, not. This guy can't say that about full and teammate stay off. I just thought it was not a great moment for Ryan lucky he is going to be going to rehab. This comes on the heels of a couple of instance last week, and I'm reading this from a website. You might be familiar with called TMZ if you're on. On they get it right most of the time time on? No, it's not. No. Thank you. And if you see your name on teams, e. Usually usually is a sixty minutes of today. So last night in Florida, he crashes into another car, and of course TMZ got the nine one one call when she tells the operator. I rear ended the people in front of me. This comes on the heels just hours after an incident in his hotel at Newport Beach, California on Thursday morning when he tried to kick down his hotel room door and he'd drunken rage knocked his lawyer, released a statement of the time revealing that the troubled swimmer has been battling alcohol addition for many years and his entering treatment, unfortunately become a destructive pattern for him. He's lucky as knowledge that he needs professional systems to overcome his problem, and we'll be getting help immediately. This is the great Ryan knows that conquering disease now is a must for him to void making future decisions to be the best husband and father it can be. And if he wants to achieve his goal to return to dominance in the pool and his fifth Olympics and Tokyo in two thousand twenty well, I would I would take issue with dominance. I would say that Michael Phelps dominant, but he was certainly a great swimmer. Liz, you've been in a lot of Olympics. You are familiar with this guy's Hoover. I when I saw this on the today programme and I thought to myself, you need to be very careful about seeking fame in the way that some people seek fame and cameras and Atalay Shen and being followed everywhere you go because it will turn on you. I mean, it does. It turns and he that was his choice. I mean, what was that show? What would Ryan luck de? He likes to fallen picture. Reality show. So he's been all gung ho for every shred of the spotlight. And maybe that's sort of misplace frustration over the rivalry with Phelps. He, you know his bad fortune to swim in that same era, but he clearly wanted the fame and the education and the the buckle and disgrace that followed the swimming competition in Rio. Yeah, at the gas station where he had younger swimmers with them, they had been out Trish drink and then fabricated this wildly preposterous tale. I mean, it was an international incident, so I don't. I don't think it comes as a shock that he has acohol. We wish him great dealing with that. You know, since then he had gotten married had had a child and. Sort of positioned himself as a family man now, and you know, I, it's a, it's a brutal addiction disease, and I feel for him, but it's a sad tale. I hope I hope that it works for him. More from the the Ryder Cup, of course, the US not able to beat the Europeans. Was it last week? The two weekends ago in France, in one of reports came out of that was the Dustin Johnson and Brooks KEPCO had to be separated at a party after the tournament ended on September. Thirtieth denied vigorously by Brooks kept oh yes. However, captain Jim for furic confirmed it yesterday said it wasn't quite as enemies imports made it sound, whatever altercation started a what happened. It was very brief. It was very short. Nine of not one of them really took anything out of it. Like brothers, brothers may all you brothers might get into it, but there is close. They've ever been and it really had no effect on either one of them. Did you have any sense of that? Did you believe not? Which report did you believe? I don't care. This team rider gift that keeps on giving more stories to come out more more. Patrick, read drama, get get more interviews from the wise. This is fantastic. It is when wives way in. Of course it's always it's always wonderful. Patrick reads wife, wait in an attack Jordan speed, and this is what's I don't know what's worse when the mothers way in which is always terrible or when the wags way in and you just go, you can't. This is not good. You just say this, you better have packed lunch. If you're gonna go off to kept collect right. Johnson is very large KEPCO. Yeah, Bill I would. I would see that fight before I'd watch tiger filled day after thanksgiving. Oh. Yeah. Oh yeah. What else? And I bet the under on that. I have one story for you. I know before you go to English side and maybe even after England side, I know there's things you, what will you do with your days? Well, this is an activity that might occupy your time. It's going on right now in New York organizers of a two week count of squirrels. That's right. The first ever squirrel census how central, how are they going to know that they didn't count that one? Just a few minutes ago that would. Snowflakes, they're not all different world. One identifying Mark can't be that hard. I think they talked to them and wrap them to count them. It doesn't say they just they walk around with the sheet and paper. One. Terry, we counted him already the central park counters tracking squirrels activities such as running and foraging coat color and sounds they make and they really just want to get as much of an accurate count. The eight hundred forty acre park that started last Saturday. We're going for two weeks, hundreds of thousands, I guess. Yes, I would have hundreds of thousands. Make. Yeah, I was going to go three million cut it. I cut it that central park goes off. It is big. Yes, so go that Bargo blocks. So what do you think like ten, ten thousand? Oh, you think there's much more than that. How many trees. I five digits would be my top. You wouldn't go more than five thousand. I'm not even sure about ten thousand. I don't know because I think you say, screw referrals. The whole look, they paint ball and like you, can you give them a little hundreds of thousands. For their promiscuity really just in global fluency. My backyard. There's a lot of is that something that you would want to do with your time in the ball and discounts coil Dingle side now? I don't think so. No. No, I'll keep looking. No, but if the paint polls involve them, I wanna painful. The people counting. I mean before I say that that sounds like a ridiculous waste of time. There may be some reasonable scientific very behind it that there may be population control of squirrels on some. I just don't know. Well, the guy who's leading the senses, a book by the name of Jamie Allen did similar census in Atlanta's Inman park in two thousand twelve and sixteen, and it helped to form a paper on the spread of the westbound West Nile virus. I guess that was the inspiration quarrels, yes, bread, the West Nile virus maybe in other not that was mosquitoes at, okay, that's news that is news on the news. We'll have old guy radio. ZipRecruiter the smartest way to hire. You're listening to the Tony Kornheiser show. Guy, radio for the day is Jackson Browne on the occasion of seventieth birthday doctor. My eyes was the first big hit. I think he ever had. Yes, I'm a big fan of Jackson Browne like often, I would I in when I walk into my house if nobody's there and there's no noise at all. I would go Lexa play Jackson breath and they almost always open with the load out. But Liz, you were a big Jackson Browne. Chunga person not as much anymore. I have great admiration for him, but I don't usually go in my house and say, hit me, Jack realized said that he's going with Jackson Browne. When is that Bill? Later this month later this month. Steve Earle as well. Yeah. So we have a nice crowd here today. And I noticed two women wearing uniforms. And I said, what is this? And your name is a net and tell us what you're what you've got on and what you doing. My sister has a festival in our family farm, it's called summers farm, and this year the corn mazes dedicated to Washington nationals. So I wanted to bring it here. You could see it. It's actually fantastic every year we do some type of maze, and then the proceeds are part of the proceeds from the festival is actually going to the dream foundation for the Washington. Okay. Oh, it's a thirteen acre corn maize. I brought a picture of it. It's fantastic. So no, I've never done that because I don't really want to be lost for the rest of time knowing no one, especially my children will come to find me. So. Does anybody ever get truly lost? I mean, how does it work when you wandering around these giant corn stalks. Right. Really, yes. And people do get lost. One of my friends yesterday was actually in the festival into corn maize while I was at the office and she said, how do I get out? And I said, she texted you when she was in the middle of corn maize. And I said, well, I think you just have to keep walking. You'll figure it out one way. Yeah, never lost anyone and had anyone gone forever now. Now we have not. However, the squirrels. Yes. This is open to the general public. Tell us where the farmers. Okay. So it's in Frederick Maryland and summers foreign dot com. It's actually a huge festival. They have, hey, rides out to the pumpkin patch and all kinds of activities for little kids. It's really super flying is at that age where my wants to build these great memories like when I used to take them to the apple orchard. Yeah, that happened all the time. So maybe Michael and listen Buzi could come out there and wander through and take home a small pumpkin. You selling pumpkins pumpkins. They have apple cider doughnuts. Amazing doesn't bring it back. No, we'd love you to come. Join me. I'm a huge fan. I watch all the time. So I'm actually here just because I wanted to be a part of the show, and it's like, well, actually have a reason to say, hi, thank you for joining Jack Jack Nicolson of show up with Denny Torrance, the maze. I think he's coming. Upcoming events. We are here Wednesday and Thursday. We are not here Friday on Thursday. My dear friend, Mitch Albom will be in. He's in Baltimore. Now he has a new book called the next person you meet in heaven and and Mitch tomorrow night on Wednesday night at Taliban university in Stevens hall. He's going to be giving a talk. He's going to do a book signing. It's open to the public. He asked me if I would mention it. If you're in the house tau scenario, the Baltimore area go see, Mitch, his talks are great. He's he's a dear friend and he and my friend, Michael Kerr, the most charitable philanthropic people that I have ever met in my life Mitchell be in here on Thursday. I told him, I, I've got the trainer, so I'm scooting as soon as this thing is over, but he will. He'll talk about the book mitch's a sports writer for forty years so we can do the actual show. It's not like we don't have to cater to Mitch Albom. That's going to be great. We have not done any of the baseball and I saved it for now three. Games were on last night. Only one series got in is going on Boston and the Yankees that's going to be ending soon. It my, I mean, but I think the Yankees can come back and win one at home if they can. All agree. On the start time Luis Severino goes to the bullpen minute. Start the pitching coach says, basically do Benny ideal time when the star the seven forty on. So the Boston got sixteen, I mean it was ten, nothing in the fourth Severino went out. Lance Lynn came in, got drilled and they were. They were just they were done. They're Boston's ahead to nothing, but Boston was had one, nothing and New York caught up. So that's the one, the one series where I don't count the losing team out. Is that serious? Right? I think it will go. I don't know who's going to win, but I think that that could go five. I do expect to win four two or closed out last night, Houston Astros who. They're pitching rotation is such that you, you have to be crazy to think anyone's better than them. It's it's not. You're right. They're pitching rotation is spectacular, and that's bad enough. But Tony, aching rake, oh goodness. There's no wake link anywhere in that line of their time. Some of our tiny little. Relentless, I'll two-day and Redman large get an off against these guys. They just stop it. They're really, really good. Bregman was last night is upset and justifiably upset. That is a series that when you're planning this is this is entertainment. This is a television show. When you're the same thing happens in the NBA went Toronto plays. They're on NBA TV at three in the afternoon. 'cause they don't rate. It's as simple as that Houston, Cleveland is the least of the four series at that point in terms of marketing. All right. So there in the afternoon on some godforsaken channel, probably they run turn us, okay, so there, but they're on in the afternoon and bregman said, hey, hey, Michael Jordan place in prime time. How about put us on when people can see us and they'd beat Cleveland's Clinton's, no worse than the fourth best team. Good. Yeah. Good. They made them RIC so silly, good and Houston beat them and Houston is relentless. The top of their rotation is ver- Lander coal and kaikal come on, you know, and they have relieved. Will they get starters coming out at a pin? It's just really tough there really good. And now I've saved the best for last because the dodgers the dodgers beat Atlanta. The dodgers were down. I think one, nothing in to one or something like that. The dodgers scored all the late runs. No, I'm sorry. The Indians were up one. Nothing to one, yeah. And then and then nuisance go to elite runs the dodgers beat Atlanta. They scored the last five runs, Manny Machado. Y'all reruns shot. Manny. Machado is the greatest rental since they just gave you an Escalade when you wanted to Parola, Manny. Machado will not be with the dodgers next year. There's no chance course eager is an all star shortstop. He, he's shortstop, Manny. Machado. Could go somewhere with the ring could end up with a ring. The dodgers the dodgers are good, and they played the brewers. And Bill is seen as a fan of the brewers and the brewers have the brewers have real talent. Do the brewers have real talent. The brewers have three guys in the middle of the lineup, Bryan and Kane, and yelich very difficult outs. And if the brewers, if the brewers hand the ball with a lead to Josh hater that game's over right, that Josh hater is that good? The dodgers they're closer kenley Jansen. If you hand the ball to him two years ago, the game was over. His this year, two games not necessarily old. You see who get who got the w last night, Ryan hats, Ryan Madson, bases-loaded bottom. Then incomes in the one out now have to watch GIO Gonzalez and Ryan meshes in the National League, right and Sanday Leone for the Red Sox us catch few. He didn't leave under the circumstances. The last time you saw Matt's and he was giving up the grand slam. All is still trying still going to these very interesting series. Whoever wins Boston and the Yankees will be the more glamorous team than us. I think Houston's the better to Houston one. This is my champs. People get lost in how great the Red Sox were this year and they are great, but David price cannot start in the post season, and this is not a new thing. This is happened for a while, so you get lost in the amount of wins. Houston won more games this year than last year. And they're the defending champions. I get angry when will picks Houston because he just picks them because they're not in the I ninety five Carter, but Houston is a great team on the other side, nobody thinks the National League is as good as the American League, but much like happens occasionally in the NBA the team that comes out of the east and they don't. They haven't won lately while once. But the team that comes out of the east hasn't had the fratricidal wars, you know, to get to the finals, I suppose. So they have a chance. So either. The brewers and the dodgers. I think the dodgers a little bit better than Bruce. I think both those teams are good, but I don't think there is good as not as good as Houston, Houston, I think Houston's religions really. So that is our, that is our baseball wrap up. I wanted to talk to Liz Liz wrote a story the other day about something never occurred to me not for a second. When you talk about sports betting in my mind, I think about football and I think about baseball. 'cause the game slow down for you. You can make bets in the middle hockey. I can't even imagine betting. It's too fast. Basketball, I think is a little bit too fast pet, the fastest sport of the mall auto racing. I never never occurred to me. You could bet on that except winners, but you're saying there's a lot of different pets and it's already active in Delaware Dover downs. And this had to do with the supreme court ruling in may that basically said it's up to states if you want to have full-scale, Delaware heading down aware with poise, the first the first state for nothing? Yes, the race they had their Sunday was the first where a fan. Could actually on his way to his seat or Hersi save. I'm gonna pick Jimmy Johnson win, and they had a little mobile kiosk outside where you could play your five dollar minimum all cash and all. Yeah, so there was a stray over say, we'll pay you Thursday, no housing crunch. Maybe everybody knows, but you so. So you could bet your favorite driver to win, but they have in in rice. But yeah, but and then like this second level, you could bet like Tony versus David who among these two in a forty car field, just these two guys who's going to do better, I'm just kind of, yeah. Unless he gets Rhett by my team. They started recently. Maybe you're to go dividing races up into thirds, which is, I think, totally ridiculous. So there these stages, so you can bet bet on who's going to finish each stage. But then the prop bets, which are the fun bets. And I hope they'll be more there should be more. They should get more creative, but it's like how many cars will finish on the lead lap or what's the the number of the. They had car number bet. Yep, the stuff like that. So. It seemed pretty popular. I mean, the line was really long to place the best. I, it's out of casino. I mean, Dover Down's is gin with so people yet. People are used to just never occurred to me. That would be the last sport I would think of in terms of Betty. You know how betting in Europe is is pro. Yeah, I think you can bet on Formula one racing and have for a long time. Yes. But you can bet on banning Mariners. Say guess the amount of cars that will actually finish who's in the I read, I fun. I mean, because well, if you, if you try to bet a winner, it's not like a Super Bowl, bet. You know, it's not one of those sports with. As we say, the fifty fifty proposition. It's a one in forty chance you're gonna right? I mean, if you're an abject more on one in forty, if you're somewhat smart, you know there's probably ten cars that haven't, but it's still wanted to him. Exactly. Is that NASCAR has taken a hit in recent years, they lose the fan base things all the sort of dilettantes who dropped by told you how cool it was. And then said, really, what am I doing? Yes. The fans at the moment is this a salvation for that? That's that's the desperate hope in a marketing sense that not that people are going to flock to NASCAR just to wager, but it gives you another reason to be invested. I mean, when Dale Earnhardt Jeff, Gordon Tony Stewart that the the drivers that people love when they all retire at three, your span that's brutal hit for the sport. So nobody really gets invested in Ford's or Chevy's. It's always been personality driven and they're really starving personalities, not under their Gregor before these. The port is saying, there's no interesting people in the field, but they're not known. You know, they don't have that persona that you either hate. Or live to cheer against or live to cheer, they don't. They don't have that right now. It's a bad time to market the sport and the quality of the race thing. You can Jim God in the sense that this was a boost it. It was a boost. But again, I mean, people come to, I didn't find anybody who said that is exactly why we bought a ticket. Everybody I spoke to said, we were coming anyway. We've for this is like something fun. This is something extra so. But if if your fan base is a roading before your eyes, anything that keeps them engaged is a good thing. And what nascar's hoping is that this becomes cool with millennials. They're really thinking about the cell phone online bedding, you know, you can, oh, I'm going to vote for like a red car is going to win this race or something odd, or a guy from Ohio is going to win this race or just just for fun, low cost investment that makes you just like when you play fantasy or have a in a pool or March madness pool, it's everything becomes more exciting. Even the little games you didn't care about wouldn't care about otherwise. So that's where NASCAR is. I don't think it's going to move the needle appreciably, but they need to consider everything thing. Because because I it was just not anything I ever I ever thought. Maybe this is because portmanteau is a French word portmanteau from porter to carry and Manto meaning cloak. "No photos please"
Previously on the Tony Kornheiser show. Commonly called Fisher Naci financial or as I sometimes referred to him financially. He wasn't number one seed coming out of the first name Bill also known as Leonardo bone achie- Leonardo of PISA or Leonardo Bigalow. Traveler, Pizano many people very good at math. Everybody knows that. I guess okay. Boy. Let's it six seven three fifteen. Get. That program. The Tony Kornheiser show is on. Now. We're live at chatter. I will explain why my voice sounds bad. Why I sound bad in the second where at the corner of Wisconsin avenue northwest, Jennifer suites, north west. We're going to do the show today. Monday Tuesday Wednesday Thursday Friday show, I wanna thank everybody who came into Chattanooga crowd. Yeah. Holiday crowd. Want to thank everybody who made the weekend. Very successful had the Valentine's Day specials, and all of that very very nice. Appreciate that. Let me explain my circumstance at my voice sounds bad. It sounds bad to me over the weekend. I had rather scary thing happen. I was here on Friday night, actually, Carol, and I were here, and we're getting up to go at about eight fifteen or eight twenty and I noticed my nose started to believe now. Now that was the third time in four five days that my nose started to bleed the left side each time and gushing blood honest to God gushing blood. I have no idea. Why this has happened the explanations basically from doctors are it's very dry in your house. It's very dry in the winter, the capillaries and blood vessels in your nose, especially constrict, and they bleed. Okay. Great. But I'm swallowing blood here to such a degree that we went to the emergency room and Sibley at about eight thirty at night and stayed there till about one in the morning, and that's only because not elective. No. That's no it's only because it's an emergency. Yeah. You never know when a guy is going to come in with a pickaxe in his head. And you know, I'm not you you go to an emergency room. And I do understand this. I understand that people without means use emergency rooms as their doctors. I understand that. I have no I make no. No argument against them or anybody else emergency room. But you know, you take a number and you wait. And it's according to who's in the worst possible share. I don't mean to make light of it. But in lieu of the he's going to did you consider maybe putting visit off a month because it was such an emergency. You could've done this say. Flavors as wall. It was a Trump joke. I had to take. No, I'm bleeding. It was a now emergency is your point. Right. It's yes, I'm bleeding and swallowing a lot of blood, and I don't feel badly. I mean, I don't have any pains, I'm not having a heart attack. I, you know, I just I'm bleeding to death here. And it's the third time in four or five nights. And I get in there. And I'm seeing eventually, and they they bring you in right away. But then you have to wait give you something to at least, they tell you. They tell you how to try and stop. Yeah. And all of that. Actually, that's interesting because I thought it was elevated. I thought you throw your head back when you head back swallow too much blood keep at forward, you actually put chin down just to drain drain. So. Yeah. So in any case, I got see a doctor and his doctor's name Carol do have this right of Dr Adam Ryan. Dr Adam gray, who coincidentally this is so bizarre lives in the house next door to my daughter knows my daughter and talks about how his dog barks at her dogs and her dogs bark at his dogs, and he's very very young. He's in his first year of being an actual, doctor beyond residency, very nice, and one thing leads to another, and it does not stop in any sort of relatively quick time and an emergency room. Doctor comes in a guy who specialty is emergency room medicine, that's different from general doctor, and he does something that was I'm sure very helpful. But very bizarre to me. He put something up my nose that was a balloon he inflated the balloon to create pressure to stop the bleeding. Okay. When he inserted that he said what he was going to do. But I was utterly unprepared. For. Feeling of it or what was going on? And I got sweaty and disoriented and and sat up straight and actually thought I was going to pass out and thirty seconds later. I was okay. Although my blood pressure spiked to a ridiculous Hoshyar. But they what both doctor said to me is that is not uncommon at all you're not prepared for this that is your body reacting. And it'll be good. And it was it was so then I went home and then the next day. And now, it's you know, you lay down, and you you can only sleep on your back. You can't you don't wanna risk turning over. I normally sleep as I've said many times, I sleep facing the outside on my right hand side facing the outside. I always as you look at a bed. I always go as you look down on the bed on the left hand side, and I face outward. I could not do that. And I got the dog, and I would make bad bedfellows. Because you do the right? So the next day. I went to see another doctor the doctor who was on call doctor, Tom Winkler. I went to his office and Chevy Chase. And he quarter Roy's a couple of things. He was not sure that he got the act of blood vessels. And he put and people who are watching now news channel eight or here at the restaurant a packing into the left side of my nose of Vassil, lean treated gauze. It is it's seventy feet long tape were. Yeah. And it falls out, and you can push it back in not painful or you can cut the edge and then push the rest back in. And that's where we stand. Now. He does not want to take it out today. Well, I have a television show radio podcast. It's different. Nobody cares. What you look like I have a television show, and this thing which makes me sort of like Ringling Brothers. You know, that I'm gonna pull geese out of my I would watch that. Well, this is what ride home said I talked to ride home. And he said can we make fun of it? I said sure that each said good feet. Do you think it'll fall out during and I said, yeah, fifty. It fall out during so I'm going to do the show gets. I believe it will be a disaster. I believe they will have greater sense. And they will say no, you can't do the show and we'll get a substitute. But I'm going to try to do the show then tomorrow substitute on the fly in a couple. Yeah, we can do that. There's people laying around is it getting number a monkey could do it's on speaking available. It's not hard course your trust. This is not a hard. I've done it long enough to know is hard to do. So tomorrow, Dr Winkler will take the gauze out. And I don't know. The frightening thing is how does it happen? Why is it happening? Will it happened? Again. I have trip scheduled. I have things that I wanna do. I'm not going to go. If this is if this is repetitive. I'm not leaving the grid. There is zero chance I'm leaving the grid. Because this is this is it's not that. It's a bloody nose is not it's painful, but it's not really painful. It's just terrifying. You don't know, what's. Do you have any of your children children's you sleep with the humidifier? We have a humidifier in the room. I bought humidifier some years ago a small humidifier bought at brookeville pharmacy. It's been on non stop for three days. Yes. That's that. That is that is number one in their list of what to do have a mid. I think would have been there selene vacillating. Yup. Walker didn't get nosebleeds. But he would definitely have congestion there. And you'd see a little bit of blood in. What would come out on his on his seats in the morning? I think it's because you're your bedroom essentially turns into a desert like condition when he's been blasting all day unit as well that hot outside. So. Did find fault with a person that I live with? And I said we cannot we cannot have it at at seventy four like you like it. I'm sorry. This is literally killing me. Now. I do I keep the house at a solid sixty four. Six. My wife complains. But I do like it. But I sleep on top of the bed. Even get you. I just get you very very dry right now. And I would say you're not sick. But I honestly was given my voice should have executed me rather than let me be on the show on right heard. But I do think there's a lot of that going around and do think it's driving make San dry having nosebleeds. Good. Suffered nosebleeds as a child. I have not as an adult had to say this. It's. Debilitating. The isn't that I were. But what you say like, you're not leaving. I get scared. It's a shelter in place type of you know, you're not doing anything on the bright side. We went ten minutes, and we haven't heard about the rip. So that's good. Right. Ribs, gone now the rim. No longer have some medicine. That's that might have the side effect of drying out. Well, one of. A lot of blow one that they tell you just on the right? Just destroyed cannot I used to take until this baby aspirin everyday. Can I ask one Putin technical question? Now, we're not doing stone not gonna do. We're not gonna do Stonehenge them. No. No. So so even right now as I sit here, I think, well, what if this you know, what if this happens again? So I don't I don't really know. What to do? I want to thank the people at Sibley. I don't I don't mean to paint that in a negative light. Because God knows they took care of me. But you do when you go to an emergency. But it's not a gunshot. You're going to sit and wait for a while. But you're gonna sit in white did not that would be hey during there was no care. It's at Sibley. So it's fifty fifty. Buco something did they express concern or do? They just say, no stri. Yes. There was as I as I would say what causes this. No, one said anything. Let's good. This. In fact, the emergency room doctor said, I was the third person that day was being treated for this. Same thing. Now age is a factor. Yeah. Age is a factor. I mean, I know as a fellow hypochondriac that would make me feel better if they weren't where it's still scary. And I go near a hospital ever for that religion is in the hospital. I don't if I if I'm bleeding does that make me a hypochondriac makes. No, no, it doesn't. But but if the doctor say, this is something we're seeing would make. Dramatic number of fan. Dr Winkler did not think anything that's our whole. However. Four or five day agree in the same spot you go. Whoa. What is what's going on here? So that is part of our phone call from Saturday. Please do so we were down with my in laws enjoying a long weekend. And I called the house repeatedly Friday, easy your fail whose Liz birthday just wanted to catch catch up with my parents. So I finally get a hold of dad and his voice if you think he sounds subdued right now, which is subdued for you dude for me Saturday nid day afternoon, Mike, we're getting the Jeep fixed. So you enlists can take the body. Yeah. Overstatement? Michael. I just want you to know you've been a good son at the end first of all there's people for that. I don't think that would be your results ability. But is good though to get the Jeep Vicks. Doug. I don't wanna laugh four by four nice too. I mean, it's a little would you put it on top like on the roof for Iraq depends on the weather. I guess nine till just spilled my copy again, let's get out of here. We will have wilpon when we return tell we'll on a little bit about this. We'll was briefly at the all star weekend in left, and I don't think getaway fast enough. Let me just say that we will. We will among ourselves get to all those sports things in news. The all star game last night thrilling, I'm just it is it's not that. It's unwatchable. It's you look at it, and you go what what are we watching? What? Yeah. What are we watching? There's that fantastic. Play when curry bounces the ball and onto compo- dunks the ball, but all it was was threes. And you're watching great athleticism. It's the Pro Bowl we watch them. I it's more found it way more watchable than the pro the athlete is more blatant. I had no problem turning it off with a few minutes left in the first half and saying that's it. I'm not I'm not gonna I to me when you see Chris Middleton, and Dirk Nowitzki stand out there and hit three threes in a row each them. You say they're great. They're great. What what am I watching? What am I watching? All right. So we'll bond when we return, I'm Tony Kornheiser. You're listening to the Tony Kornheiser show. How y'all keep it real with a bit of an old school vibe? I dig that. I'm a singer songwriter music producer from LA. Don't hold it against me, my family's from Brooklyn. I wrote this song with sports teams in mind. I'd like to see if you think it's a fifth year show it's called on finished business, and it's about coming back stronger after going through a growth process, it's gritty alternative rock. Anthony get pumped up. Thank you for listening. Jamie alon- along for a long day. We're not exactly sure he plays in Michael wilbon, we'll von spent some time over the weekend in Charlotte and some time in Chicago. And he he texted me yesterday that he was at a lacrosse game that northwestern women who have been the most time lacrosse national champions were playing Duke, Duke, a very good lacrosse school and my first and they're playing indoors Michael unite beautiful thing we saw the beautiful indoor facility at northwestern by the lake. My first two questions were a can you play indoors is illegal game. And be it's so early. It's early February can their season actually be starting. Do you wanna take those one at a time? Because those were my first questions. Sure, Tony first of all seven time national champion. They're great northwestern's grade. So that's that's one good into your. I'm pretty sure Duke won fairly recently as well. But yes, you the Stephen always started this early we were thankful and northwestern yesterday as I as I hit the O'hare in the snow. We were happy that we have to even the fans have to clear the snow from the lacrosse field in order to watch this game. It was inside the building that you love mostly because of the black dots that keep the birds from flying into the glass and killing themselves. We were in that building yesterday. Bill does it was thrilling thrilling one point down. You know, one goal wind down by two a minute eighteen left and two goals. More av wants to know about this people who care about the cross because they are the two two teams. They win the national championship undefeated yesterday. But yet the seasons the season starts early Tony and yes, you can play indoors. Now as long as the field is the same as it would be outdoors. Okay. And and tell everybody what happened after you won with the coach, I got big no hitter. Kelli. Kelli, Hiller, not great and. Who can stay? They've won a national championship in any sport seven times. But UCLA Ken. Yeah. John wooden is is it a long list? No. You know, what it's like Stanford swimming. It's like where to Dan Gable? Go to school is arrested Iowa. Yeah. You know, and North Carolina women's soccer. Yeah. It's it's not a long list, or it's noon constable like you can you can figure out that's probably ten, you know, but there's not more than ten not more. Just to clarify for you on do Duke has not won a championship. Never been to the championship game either. Okay. Duke men have doubt. Now. More importantly to me these small little part of the text was the polar ice plunge. What is that? What happened every year in Chicago? There is in Lake Michigan. Right. Brennan leisure dry, right? Along leash. You're not far from where my party is here there the polar ice plunge on some death defying day of, you know, fifteen twenty degrees or lower people go out, and maybe they have a wet suit on and maybe they don't and they dive into Lake Michigan who raise money Razi nuts. They raise money for the dot wheels. Twenty two degrees. And the wind really wasn't bad yesterday. I walked around campus a little bit twenty two degrees. And it was the polar ice plunge right outside. The the the field house the new Fieldhouse referred to. Now, I saw the ten. And I was walking in. I just said, oh, no. These people are not doing the polar ice brunch. Mike is this open to the general public or is it just students? It's every. University every. As a matter of fact, I didn't know it moved up that far north from where normally oh, okay. It's it's it's further downtown towards downtown usually used to be used to be now with this this whole thing we've got up on the, you know, up on the north end of of our campus. I guess it's moved up there now. But I just went out there to say the people excuse me. What exactly are you doing? Yeah. Plane they will do in the polar wind or no wind. You can't get to that. How quickly enough? Let's just get out rings. Okay. So you went you did not stay for the all star game in Charlotte. But you went to the all star game. You had you had a public appearance. An interview with Michael Jordan. I'd like you to talk about. And also, I got a text from wilbon while I was probably in the hospital saying that that you had dinner with Pat Riley, and that to me I gave a list of people that the most important people. The NBA is not as old as football. It is certainly not as old as baseball the NBA, basically started in the mid nineteen forties. If you made a list of the most important people in the history of the NBA on that list would be Bill Russell and read our back and wouldn't necessarily have wheelchair. Michael, Jordan, certainly. Jerry, West certainly, Pat Riley, Phil Jackson, certainly these are, you know, I don't even know that. It would have Magic Johnson. I'm not sure. Well, but it would Larry Bird together. I don't know reinvented bath. Yes. Okay. So you're right about that. But I even said you may be bird maybe magic, maybe LeBron. But without question, Pat Riley. What was that like, and what was the Jordan thing? Like well, Thursday nights. I go to also weekend. Love it Bill. Not for the game is not for Sunday. It's worth Thursday and Friday, and sort of social and cultural to rounding the NBA do not surround the other sport. I've been all of, you know, weekends of this and that and and it's different and the dinner for doing Wade dinner for Wayne rate, sir, retiring roast if you will. And it was it was a who's who are basketball and impact rally was and I got a chance to talk to to to. Patten listen to Pat, he he gave about I don't know twenty minute toasted Wayne way, and it was just nominee. I listen to Riley, forty five minutes, you who care about basketball is in the Riley. It's not just have Riley as a coach it's not just Pedroza GM, Pat Riley played in the most important most significant college basketball game of all of all time. So that's Tony loss, but he is still suppose societas with it. Yes. And and Tim Hardaway who obviously was early teammates, Wayne, wait, I mean, Tim Hardaway to teases Riley, Tim Hardaway with to you. Western yes. And they have all these guys they're in one room. Toasting? Wade was just it was unbelievable. But Riley in a lot of ways as the headliner for me and his Dwayne Wade's the way know teammate, family members, mom and father, and they were there and his children, and it was a it was a sort of extraordinary dinner. And you know, there's a lot of dinners a lot of roast in sports. And I I'm reluctant to car any of them extraordinarily thought this one was that's in the next thing. Tony I sat for about. It was supposed to be thirty minutes. I think he went to forty minutes for Q and with Michael Jordan. And we, you know, if the Mary you can't get into because he's gonna be fine. One of the things I started off with my own little hot take was I hate this. I hate these tampering rules tamp down they muzzle. The ability for Michael Jordan, owner of. Charlotte branch is Magic Johnson president of the Lakers franchise and Larry Bird, Billiton salt. The no longer president with the Pacers. Transact? Those guys can't say anything without being fine. Was cited for tampering and I hate did. They are. Living icon, ick figures a basketball. Yes, Russell is to Russell's not going to engage in his eighties. Now, like those three I wanna know what Russ with bird magic and Jordan have to say about everything, and you can't really hear what they have to say about anything because their muzzle. They're they're handcuffed by the rules and say now if you mentioned LeBron James his name, and he's a free agent two years, all you tempered. And I think this is I think it's the. I think it's completely unnecessary show. But nonetheless, I did craft the whole lot of questions to ask Michael about big issues. Big overarching issues in the culture of basketball. He was just expansive in great like one of them. Tony was he we live in a world of one and done when you famously cried when you had to leave North Carolina after three years and Dean Smith and you love practice. You. You were you were the anti Alan Iverson when it came to practice. Nobody love practice more than Jordan. What do you think you would be like if you were limited to one year of college basketball, and he was great talking about all those sorts of things technology, and how it has changed thing in his sport analytic all the big issues, and I asked him again to sort of go back to an issue. I asked him about ten years ago, which we talk about all the time with the goat the greatest of all time and unlike LeBron who was pronounced himself. The greatest of all time, Jordan, not only won't do that. He says it's the plea insane to do that. Because he never played against Russell and Chamberlain and west Baylor in my in, and even Jillian and he said, he's not going to ever say that he's the greatest of all time, and he cringes when other people do it. I I mean, I I don't think he's the greatest. I mean for me, as you know, it's Magic Johnson. But I I think that here's what I would say you can never say that anybody definitively was better than Michael Jordan. Did you? That's crazy. I can't say that. And you told me last night that you found him and not just you. But others found him more expansive than usual. Michael Jordan has over the years. He's hooded himself very much. I mean, he made he may be great fun to be with on a golf course. But his public appearances he tries very hard not to say anything. So who people told you that you are good because you got stuff out of him. Right. I still getting messages from. Hundreds of people were there saying that. And I I mean I see differently. Look, I I've been I'm out of the business of covering Michael Jordan, we've been friends for twenty years now. And I do have these conversations with them doing, right? His public public airing. Our team manages that. Nobody comes in. You can't say this is what he might any number time. And you've been on these conversations to Jordan says I can't believe that Charles can get away with saying that if I said that I would get crushed you. And I am sitting in who cares criticizes you now the hell you can do what you wanna do. But that's not who he is he tears because in his heart of hearts, he's a businessman. Yeah. And so a Charles Barkley in his heart of hearts is an entertainer in a politician. Michael Jordan, his heart of hearts businessman in. That's that's why he cares, and they are different people their different people. Sean Charles Barkley is. Everybody's. Pal and can say anything provocateur. He's fantastic. I I've I've always felt and you you tell me I'm wrong. I've always felt that in there as they get older that Jordan has a jealousy of Barclay because darkly this no none zero. I mean, it just did we they're not acting different. They are different different people are and so no Michael is much more candid about how much he misses the game. How he'd like to put on shoes right now and go out and play tonight. Charlie magic don't say that Tony. They don't they don't they don't think it and trust me. I spend time with those two as well. And I realize telling God's truth is they feel it. They do not feel that way. They miss it. Of course, they've become rod are- in the competition. But they do not daydream of putting sneakers on all the time going out with and somebody's but Jordan dud, and he talked about that in our session too. And so, you know, they're fundamentally. I think that's part of the appeal, but might go, and I feel I mean, I'm I'm thankful that he said, you know, look, come and do this. I need you to do this. I'm gonna talk about these things, and I was very grateful, and I enjoyed it. I never know in real time. What people's reactions are sitting in the dark on stage and people have the reactions they have. But I got so many comments from people in person, that's grand and the attacks and other people over the last three days, even if I after I left sound about how happy they were to hear him because his public utterances are not as frequent and Johnson Jerry out that amount one of the reasons, by the way, I'll get out on this one of the reasons why Michael Jordan, it it's the same thing. I said about Pat Riley, one of the reasons Michael Jordan is so important the basketball is not his playing it said he's the first former player to own a team. This is right. If. Conductor all help you. This is from Glenn winters in Newport, News Virginia who ride simul little listen to the pod. While walking my dog joy, the wonder vehicle since she can't escape hearing it I guess that makes our little two or possibly just a small. I've three degrees in piano and used to concert ties teach arthritis in both hands, but the Khyber on that. So now, I work for regional opera company where I conduct an adult education programme run the state of Regina. I also write short Apas geared towards children families that have been staged toured by my company and others. Good news from Mr Tony. They're all in English tach is sorts a short solo from opera based on Grimm's fairytale called doctor. No at all about a doofus who decides doctor despite no medical training or knowledge whatsoever. Solo is somebody's first page. All the sick lady in it. She describes a catastrophic Lindy of horrible terrible symptoms. If you get a smile out of it, which I am please consider making me the official operatic composer, the Tony Kornheiser show done. Easy Dracula's lament have you seen? That's what I was just have you seen forgetting Sarah Marshall, many years ago. Great great Jason. What's his Greg? Great opera puppet. Opera singer of that. Okay. So if people like Glenn winters, and this is off the beaten path for us, which is just wonderful. And it's opera if people like when winter's want to send in their original music, Michael played on the show. How do they do share music with the show by emailing it to jingles at twenty nine show dot com? Alrighty, let's do news. And let's have everybody joined in 'cause I'm fading. Yes. Mr Tony Jeep. We will start off with Gulf JD homes is your winner at the Genesis open assurance still not putting out. I watched so much of this much delay. Right. Well, yes, they had to finish the tournament Sunday. So that both Saturday and Sunday, they played ten twelve fourteen hours worth of golf team off at six. Forty five morning finish the third now. Yeah. Six forty five in the morning. That means guys we're getting wakeup calls at four o'clock in the morning. I'm is in the low forty. So if you had if you had said to me at any given time Justin Thomas has a four shot lead. I'd say that's in the Bank. That's in the Bank. This kid's a great player. He couldn't putt. It all particularly on the back nine j b Holmes tried to give it away with three putt literally from five feet on eleven or twelve three pun. And that got says four, but yeah, he had a four by one. I mean, the the final at least two of them were over par. Justin Thomas was plus four Adam Scott had to be plus two or three j b Holmes was maybe even or something like that. It was I never would have thought Justin Thomas would do this. Because I think he's a really really solid player. Not even after he shanked two second shot in the third round nine. There are some things that you see more of Adam Scott five over. Yeah. Was there, and it was a lot of a lot of it was putting very very bad putting Rivi era. I was all. Repaired to to tell everybody how Rivi era always yields a great champion of very well known person. And I was going to talk about how so far this year Rickie Fowler, one in Phoenix, which I don't think is as big a deal is winning Riviera or winning pebble or something like that Phil one and here Justin Thomas was going to win at Riviera. But indeed anti-growth by the way Tigers back nine he was like four over on the back yesterday. Let's just joined his eighty one eighty one four or five shots together. The short par four bunks Morton's. That's the highest hikers third. He's ever had his. Makes up for anything else that he did this. We have starkly he has struggled at this course. And now now that his name is associated with it. It is great that he is trying to turn that the career round where he did have is debut when he was Amador back in ninety two. I think but yes, you're correct. The course has a great tradition going back to Ben Hogan. Yeah. And the putting green you can't really see this from TV. But the the eighteenth green is about forty fifty sixty feet on a steep Yukon on a steep slope off of the teeth. And there is the statue for HOGAN there. It's it was a remarkable. I don't even want to call the choke on Jordan, speak tant, plus ten on around plus ten. I am an issue. JB homes needs to play faster. It's bad for the game. He plays very slowly. And he has the personality of you know, of paint. Which is great for the Doron play. That is to racing. All this. Did anybody watch this rubbing? I did I watch it. No. Did. I see it. Yes. Same. Yeah. Denny hamlin. Okay. We'll all day and all night long. Things starts at about one or two a class. And I know that it's usually a four hour deal. So in my mind, I would check back every once in a while to see where they were and as long as they weren't in the last twenty five laps. Okay. I saw one crash two crashes or something like that. In and last twenty five laps. They had two very big crashes. One of which involved eighteen cars, and I if you haven't seen this if you didn't watch it live, you're not going to be able to relate to what I said, they have cameras in every car they because you gotta fill time 'cause they're clear on the track. This is going to take thirty to forty five minutes to clear the track to resume the race. They showed you footage from every car of the crash. It was it was like watching a superhero movie if the the camera work was so unbelievable this sparks that were flying all over the place. Spark thing was going into one hundred ninety two hundred miles an hour separated. Literally by one foot terrifying. It's it's you think I- seventies bad. I mean, it's everybody walked away which is remarkable by the end when actually because one of those cars and forgive me. I'm I'm very NASCAR ignorant. But one of those cars was actually. Under. Yeah. Another one as they were dragging on look like it would've just been an inferno in there. For some reason. I don't know why. Because we never talked about at home. Oh, my younger kid checked a NASCAR racing book out of the library. So he was reading me all the stuff, and I realize Dillard, so I knew Diller Earnhardt senior, obviously died in two thousand and one at Daytona. Yeah. Have woods his death. It occasioned a overhauling of the safety procedure one thing in particular. I think the Hans which straps driver and straps, his near next silver that has a huge. I mean in charge new. Would assume. Well, everyone walking away is amazing. They do this amazing thing where they build the cars. So the cars don't go up into the airline. They used to. Technology in NASCAR is absolutely remarkable. But when when they finally restarted on the last two laps, I I watched. So that I would be converse that any Hamlin one. But I wasn't under caution or whatever now was was. Okay. I don't know. It doesn't do it. For me. The Joe Gibbs teams. That's. One-two-three? What that what means means? They want Joe Gibbs racing on for a second item. So let's let's move on to the all star game. Yeah. Yes. The NBA all saw. Okay. So everybody watched a little bit. And I've seen tire thing. Okay. I stopped about halfway through the second period. I stopped his 'cause ninety seventy five fifty at the fifty points in the first quarter by one of the teams fifty three who the teams are. I was a head by a lot at halftime. And I don't know who's on any team. It doesn't. None of it matters. I watch it until I just say, you know, what there's nothing more to be learned in my life. From this the greatest they're the greatest athletes the basketball players, they're the greatest athletes, but it's all threes and dunks, and I'm not gonna complain about the lack of it's fine. I don't care, but like watching a wizards nothing for me. Gary, and I've talked about this before. But I do think when you have when you have younger kids, my kids are so into it. They love the dunks. I mean, Janas Hedda Janas had ten dunks through. He was nine of nine at one point with eight dunks. They let the alleyoop say love staff, dribbling it all over the place. You know, I mean, they like it. It's a carnival. They would watch that ten times over if I said, hey, the wizards are playing anywhere other than the warriors. They would watch the all star game, and certainly an exhibition to your point. But but it's I sat and watched the entire thing. I wouldn't watch three plays of the pro I wouldn't make that comparison because for the NBA thing the athleticism there talent is completely on full display. It'd be like the NFL game. If every play was I was an awesome Beckham one handed out catch type thing. And and I actually thought it was it was hard for me because I'm getting old. It was easy for my kid. But it was hard to sort of. Remember who was who? Because. There's no there's no conference affiliation. Now. So it was cool to see Steph and Klay Thompson, go one on one against other things like that that you wouldn't otherwise see, and they of course, had a Mike up. So I actually enjoyed it more than I thought I would I did not watch. This. The first time for me to not watch one minute of the Saturday stuff shooting contests. They gotta get rid of get rid of the contest or do something else that the three point contest. I think she'd go last, you know, I mean when we were I was trying to again, explain to my children that back in the day. Dominique wilkins. Michael Jordan, did it and now insanity DR Diablo and some dude who had Larry Johnson jersey on place or Charlotte. I watched the NBA, and I was like, I don't know these. I mean, they're four people because no one's willing to do it anymore. The last memorable. One was Dwight Howard the superman with the superman style. What are they just all they do is try to jump over Griffin? Onto the white Howard lake Griffin jumped over. Yalo John Dover shack. He also had the superman thing what about the shooting. Contest was that any good. It was good in that staff made it to the final round which wanted to see. And then the guy from Virginia beat him Joe Harris from Brooklyn, which is very odd. But they want. I mean, I think they wanted Steph against Seth and Steph didn't do terribly. Well, no couldn't still more. I think the skills competition and three point are more interesting than skills. Dish was interesting because Tatum one Jason Tatum one by making thirty. And I certainly didn't see the celebrity game. The Kevin Hart game. I assume twenty. That you did you play very that's fine. If it's both interesting, and I don't this. This begins the worst week in sports because the NBA's often till Friday. Yeah. So on the PTI so by Wednesday, we're going to be talking about hockey. Well, maybe maybe. Mandate or something to talk about. Now. How tall is Cuyler Murray. Really do a half hour on hand block on that. Absolutely disastrous. Mr Tony to politics. Great transition there. Thank you. Yes. That's online that there is going on with Andrew McCabe. Let's get to this. This is here interview on sixty I read so I read some of the stories that exempted from. Yeah. He's he was the former acting director of the FBI and Trump couldn't was it. Right after Komi. I lose track Comey. Yeah. He was very critical of Trump and and talked about and wins on Shanahan and then McCabe, right? He talked about that that the rod Rosenstein thing was true that there is some notion that under the twenty fifth amendment Trump to be node because they thought he was not necessarily competent to do this. The other however Batty is to Trump. He's far worse to Jeff Sessions. Who was the attorney general and Trump is now terrible. Jeff Sessions trunk always was Trump. Call them, quote, unquote, another beauty. Yes. More. Now twitter. The White House is saying that McCabe has no credibility whatsoever. That's for no collusion. That's for everybody to decide. But what what do you? How big a story is this because it has to be told in the context that the guy's writing and selling a book ignore that. Four people who believe Trump is deeply incompetent flawed. Cross cross purpose compromise. The book will be confirmation right for people who don't Andrew McCabe is leaking liar. Peter Struck and his lover Lisa page. I don't know how that's related, but I just you know, he he just put that in there. I mean, the session stuff is brutal really is. I just read one part the FBI was better off. When quote, you only hired Irishman session said in one diatribe beers workforce. Quote, they were drunks, but they could be trusted. Not like all those new people with nose rings and tattoos. Who knows what they're doing? I mean, he's directly grueling sessions. They're just the guy was a Senator from Alabama since nineteen Ninety-six prior to being the top law enforcement official in the country, by the way confirmed by the Senate. So let's let's let's not just lay it on sessions. I mean, he this guy was confirmed easily. I guess I was interested in this. I wish we had Bill is in here because it's very hard to defame public figure. Yes. Yes. I mean, he's directly quoting sessions is basically saying that Seth ans is is a Mara is not just a more racist. Right. A bigot. Yeah. So I like the story being reported from the book where McCabe who's wife and Chris opne film capture, but his wife was running wife, she meant for his ran for a state legislative job as a desk and Terry McAuliffe super Pac at he was the governor time gave her money as he gave to every democratic candidate running for the state legislature and she lost. And the next day. I don't know if it was in the Oval Office or somewhere else came came across Trump in passing Madison feel to be a loser. Spooning, isn't it? Get outta here. We'll have old guy when we return. That's Michael will talk about his experiences, and we will get to the Jesse smell at story. Clearly when we return, I'm Tony Kornheiser. You're listening to the Tony Kornheiser show. Guy radio for the day of the Buckingham with to grab why we're doing this. Because on this date in nineteen sixty seven this song hit number one. So that's fifty two years ago. Yeah. Right. I number one. They were from the Buckingham that we're from Ohio Chicago, Chicago after Lizzie Buckingham. Nope. Don't think they might predate. Yes predator. Also had a very good song called Susan. Had three top ten hits. I'm not sure what the other one was. Yes. This very pop. Tune very happy with it was. For some reason, it is stuck in my head that people in the Buckingham also either before or after a group called McCoy's that didn't hang on Sluki. Is there anything to that? I don't know. I'm just I will I on to check on research. Yes. All right. Let me let me start this. This thing as gauze falls out of my nose, which is fantastic channel. I don't have to look at it. You do. Microphone when Michael finally called me when when we were able to make a connection on Saturday. I told him at great length about all of these travails about everything that had happened to me about my fears about it, and this that and the other thing, and I spoke probably for ten full minutes. Ten full minutes, Michael and Liz and the baby boy Buzi or in South Carolina, a monologue. And Michael was Naski me questions. And Michael was a great son. Because Michael is a great son. Thanks that. He let me go on and on and on and on. And then he said, by the way, I have something to done. I've something to tell you. So I actually need to reset this with. Story from June. If you remember my mother-in-law Mony Hardwick ace long. At Oldfield golf club down in South Carolina. And while I was happy for her. I was burning on the inside. I didn't think that she deserved this. I was questioning how the ball actually tracked into the whole. It was rattling across the green doing flight path now. Yeah. Cursing golf coefficient of restitution wise vulne bouncing back into into a penalty area. So Chan's always a very gracious hosts and arranges for us to plane various games, they have they call it men's day, but it's a members day. So there's about for this one on Saturday three threesomes. It was a it was taking too net balls out of the three and they're about five or six groups all very nice guys that I've that I've played with for a number of years. We start on the second which is a long par for. I'm furious I- three-putt for a five and we merely come to number three. It's playing as short par-three one twenty five into the wind. I pay up alleged a knock it in the. The whole borough. I had my first hole in one. In the old field men's day on my second hole, and did you jar it or did it bound landed it landed four inches away and the breeze helped because if you remember I was like, well, if I ever have when I need to land, it really close spin it in the breeze held it online, and it it one hopped in and just settled in the Cup. And I I didn't know if it'd just went to the, you know, back edge. And maybe I couldn't see it any never wanna be that guy that's walking up to a blind shot. You know, maybe it's over the green. Maybe it's an affront bunker. Always like, hey, maybe you should check the bottom of the Cup and the always lean in and there's nothing there. Yards over. No, no. I saw go in. But it's you are you are just beaten down in golf any never want to assume that so I saw go in. But immediately, I'm like, no, it's gotta be hiding mine. The flagstick. I don't know what to do. I'm playing with my father-in-law, I'm playing with with another gentleman. But I'm not with like a young crowd. I'm not in a loud group. So I just I sit there dumbfounded. I don't say anything. And I what it Lee go back four footer in my mind, and I'm angrier than ever that. I let that that. I let that putt for par go because I know this is a card you save. And we get to I text. Listen, I think I had a hole in one and you get the phone out because you wanna get a you wanna get picture with the flag. And I'm and I'm criticizing my mind. My father who doesn't know how to go horizontal versus. Oh, yeah. Flashes on. Yeah. No. So I that you can't just enjoy this. I I wanted to leave I want it. We get to the third tea, and I say, I don't wanna be here anymore. I know I have to finish the round to put on a card. Gotta finish it in on immediately. I get we're now on a par five. I have I've another five hundred for park because I'm not focusing. And I know everything I gotta stay present. But all I wanted to do was go back and celebrate. There's a great I found there to be a great beauty. And the fact that I had my first hole in one. And I'm saying I because I actually now think I will have a number of these allow on the whole where Ramon had one in the same past year. But I was pretty bummed that my dad wasn't there. I played my first round of golf with you at the local Muny, Rock Creek, golf course. And Columbia's my home course, I will always have a sauce spot for Philly. Cricket because it's where I had so many college memories Oldfield is my second home. I play there around the holidays every year. So I'm happy that it was. Of course, it meant something to me. But the only person that was missing as we as we drove up to the green is my dad. Well, but I'm I'm so happy that you got a hole in one. I have in my life in in two groups where someone had a hole in one. It's thrilling has to be. You are almost you're not as thrilled as the guy who got it. But we're all thrilled. It's fan. Have you ever? I have not haven't had guy in a group in front of me made it while we are waiting. It's I also played. With a guy who missed it. But I mean by a half an inch. Like, we waited to see if it potentially would roll in stuff on the ground. Not exactly I think, it's really cool. Sometimes when I can't find my ball, you think which is a lot. No, I just drop it in the company. Look winter rules go here finish up. I ended up shooting to under and was. I was on the back nine I was in what they are now called penalty areas on both par fives because we're playing we're playing a handicapped men's day where you're trying to make as many birdies as possible I made forty five dollars on the day. But I say par with two very good ups and downs. And I actually had a twelve footer for bogey because again, you're saving the card. I did not want any sixes right on that car. Didn't wanna go speak. Yeah. You get local will that did the club. Give you the flag from three. No, they did not give me they should give you the flag. I'm happy. I have a scorecard. I have the golf ball which I immediately put away in Walker. Founded was aided. No, they did not hear you did your. Thanks. So this is Eric. Remember, the US J commercial where the little kid has a hole in one. It's dusk he'll bind. And then there's a, you know, a main ground grounds. Brown's guy is driving by and they clink soda any longer on me. Great some little nervous because I don't know what the protocol is. I don't know if they have one insurance the bars closed they're doing renovations. So we get we get to quietly sneak back to the house. So it ended up being the hook very so zero afternoon exclaiming over twenty years. Tommy what a club does is. They will laminate the card for you. They'll put it in a plaque for you. Do they do anything like that? They're I mean, you're not a member. They might do it. Right. I'm not a member. I think if you are a member they'll give you pro shop credit now, I know that Chan for Monis did a very nice little shadow box forward with with the photo from the day that. Yeah. I mean, you're come on. He's. Your father in law. I'm very experiential. Then I'm happy with the memory. And I'm almost more. I'm happier that I just had this out of body experience where I was just in disbelief, and I was not great. I was not running around shouting. Which is not really my personnel. I've come close I've come within two to three feet once or twice. But never where I thought it was go in right writing like that. So anyway, that's the ground. Hitting the ground get another unlike me, and this is the difference between Michael and myself if Michael were hurt and had a broken leg or something like that. I say, yeah. Listen to that. But I. One one. Hi cole. Very gracious. The fact that we've been calling you Friday night. No answer, we called your cell phone, mom, cell phone, mom answers, but hangs up immediately. And then she started just three dots and stops. And when you get that starting start. Oh, you know, something wrong. We were the you were at the hospital and at the hospital. Okay. So I've saved time for this. And I'm glad Christmas here along that everybody here. But the Jesse smollet story. About three or four weeks ago. Jesse smollet who is an actor on the show empire, which I've never seen. But as apparently hit shell quite well, yes, Maine is part of a family of actors his sister. There's yeah. Made a claim of that. He was a terrible hate crime had been committed upon his body. It was about two in the morning. He was at a subway in Chicago, not not the not the train subway. And what he said was two guys attacked him. They screamed this MAG country for make America great again. And they threw bleach on him and put a new surround his neck and beat him up. Yeah. Anyone to the hospital as this was investigated? And there was of course, a rush a reasonable rush to say, this is horrific because it is it is horrific if it happened it is horrific. But there was also the notion that will are we sure that this happened because there was no footage of him in his apartment that was. In other words, it lacked other than his very compelling testimony himself it lacked corroboration it lacked detail it lacked video evidence there was that famous picture of these two fellows bundled up, and they became immediately people of interest to this Kaga police force as time went on what it has devolved. They found these two people. They are brothers. They are Jillian. Yes. Right. I mean, so you your first reactions, well, they would have sent this maga- country, and they would have attacked this guy for being black and being homosexual. They would have done that. I mean, I think it's fair to say what that doesn't got odd. That's acted as extras on the show. Yes, they've been on the show now been leaks. There have been leaks not confirmed. There have been leaks that the notion is that they bought the news in a local hardware store, and and that Jesse smell at orchestrated this that is essentially the league Jesse smell that has orchestrated this. He says that's ridiculous. That's awful. That makes everything worse. My feeling is either way. This is terrible. Either way. This is terrible. What are your thoughts on this? Because you have to talk about this. I mean, so where we are is that just he's has still not spoken to the police. Since I believe Friday police spokesman said we need to speak to him. Now. These guys have essentially said, here's a situation. This is what we did at his past. He said nothing his camp not him continue to say he was victim of a hate crime. What is difficult on the phone with his manager on his manager said I was on the phone with them. But I mean, you never know what that what is difficult is you have people like, well, basically every democrat running for president Cory Booker, comma, Harris, Kirstin gillibrand have all put out statements in the immediate aftermath of this essentially saying this sort of thing has no place in this country, which Donald Trump has fostered this environment. Because there was this make America great again. Sort of that was a piece of this story. Right. So the issue is what do they say? Now Cory booker's asked about it yesterday. He essentially said, well, let's wait and see what happened. Right. But you know, I mean, it's a very tough situation. He was on. Jesse small was interviewed on one of the morning shows the today show or good Morning, America. You know, and it was a very at the time very sympathetic interview. Although I would note as Tony pointed out, there's lots of reason there were a lot of reason to suspect who knows what's happening now because there wasn't any corroboration. There wasn't any. It was the lack of the video. I think that right. And there was there was no one saying this is a thing other than him. And so the ball is in his court. Now, he has to say I would presume has to say something given the profile of. This story. It's never know. I will say it is given conservatives particularly on Twitter people who support Donald Trump more ammunition, though. I would say I think it's somewhat unwarranted. The idea that we wouldn't report on something like this. Yes, we reported on it. Yes. We reported on some of the skepticism is out there, but more ammunition to say see the media is just looking to blame us for everything. So to your point it's horrible either way. What is already know? Or now. I mean, it's one hundred percent is reportedly hired a crisis manager from guests Chicago based and that in conjunction with his. Apparent unwillingness or maybe I missed lasting that. Well, he didn't want to turn over his phone records is a lot of stuff phone, and it was a lot of stuff any and the police have said since Friday, they wanna speak, right. And it's not done. It would suggest he's a better actor a director. Now, let me say, so it's it's it's a very. It's bad either way either way bad for everyone and all around it's because those sorts of things those sorts of incidents happen, right? And they with frequency with greater frequency now than they've had in years. Yeah. This was all made up it's detract, and he is himself very political. Yes. He is. He's been out front on a lot of things. And in the wake of it was very high profile say this is what happened. This is why it happened. So if if it was a fraud all along. I mean, look there's there's a lot of democratic candidates who will have to come up with a better. I sent you Cory Booker. Yeah. Yeah. Answer yesterday. And it was essentially like, well, let's wait and see till all the facts come out. Critics would say well, you didn't do that. Always reminds me of when oh knots manager. That's recent NATs manager that William William. No, no, no, no, no. After him. I'm blanking. Jim Riggleman soon. Refer to know he was dusty dusty Baker. When dusty Baker was managing the cubs. And and Sammy Sosa hit a home run with a corked bat and dusty was asked after the game. Well, let's wait till all the evidence is in and all the evidence. Literally court. We'll take a break. My nose is falling apart. I apologized every can and everybody else. So we will take a break. We will do Email jingles when we return normally I would take pictures, but I'm frightful. So I will just say a lotta people hunch because I can't Dom grant me this one of vanity of not having strings falling out of my nose in a picture. Yeah. All right. I'm Tony Kornheiser. You're listening to the Tony Kornheiser show. All right. Now, I'm gonna sick. So now, I'm going sing song. It's allowed djing real important. But I've got no experience draw. Regale you with some lyrics powder. One of the stored without the stand. History would go rather poorly. Now K Jake and Sekouba sing something funny. Cast. It's the cold. Now, saying about diary, assuming the words and the from your mother sheen if I sing it will get funded by unaware as Zan see. Do they pay gene could LA? Previously on that. Tony Kornheiser show. I played against Darryl green, and Darryl was probably in his mid thirties at the time and was still a world class athlete. And I always felt really good. I like I could shake derelict. The line scrimmage this island played against him. One time. I'd get like five yards downfield. Where's where's beat me to my route? What I was doing. We see Daryl. Oh, dear. He won't remember me because I was probably the worst receiver ever played against. The Tony Kornheiser show is on now chatter worth corner. Do the news that was the voice of Tommy Waddell. I've just I'm gonna clear a bunch of business before we move on. And then we get to the NFL that podcast on Friday was really good Waddell, who I hope would be good exceeded everything that I hope for and his relationship with will is great. So that was that was a thank you listing on that was really good. I love him. I love him him breaking down the guys that he played against his recollections of who who he wanted to be who couldn't beat. That was a great question. I really I really liked him. We are here to on Tuesday Wednesday evening at six in a feeble attempt to build a crowd to to get people to buy food and drink. Yes, we will do podcast Wednesday night. Nothing thursday. The restaurant is closed Thursday on Friday. We will do a regular podcast in the morning. Steve sands will be on Friday right now the restaurants closed, but you said. Yes, you can sleep. Okay. Good. That's okay. But the is and by the way and Tories podcast tonight. That's right. That is a successful podcast. Tories book podcast is already come check around Jerry chatter on books. Yes. Five thirty. Gary's coaches show on tonight. Yes. That's that should be at seven o'clock. Well, they should they should try. Right. Let's get to. Let's get to the NFL. I wasted enough time. I, you know, I don't know the lead story clearly in Washington DC is going to be Alex Smith. But I don't know that I would make that the lead story on any national broadcast. I would think they had those great endings Carolina, their coaches imbecile, you you know, what it is one thing to go for to Canada. Yeah. Absolutely. And if you beat Ohio State, you may get that job for the for the next five years, but as a pro coach, what are you doing? No you go into overtime. You'll have got a better team. Carolina, detroit. No, you don't go for two. Ron rivera. That's stupid hanging on him on Cam. He just missed the guy. I understand. But the guy was wide open as as with the Maryland Newton the blame. But I don't make that call. I go for the tiger over the pros. I say shit in my house on Saturday. I'm sure at some point or maybe we won't talk about the Maryland game. But to me it comes down to this. If you had told anyone on Maryland staff or team before the game, they'd be that. It's. Play from three yards to beat them. Would you take it? Yes. Would you take over time? You say I'd take the play. But carolina. What are you doing? What are you doing riverboat? Ron you're a moron. I mean that decision could literally cost them playoff spot. Yes. But in camrose if Cam makes the throat. You're the better team. The game goes the better. Oakland the Broncos and the Cowboys last second walk off field goal citing bears. Have very interesting game. Cowboys giants when all of these things are out there. But but Steelers even Ben Rothlisberger ridiculous. That was ridiculous. There's only two guys that can make that play because there's only two guys six five and up quarterback. So there's they make that play. But if I'm forced to lead with something the New Orleans Saints. They have now is this nine in a row. They and the only game they lost was one of those early fits seven years pay almost left in my Browns. That's right almost love to my. But what do you think? Now. Now, I never ever had any faith in their defense. And I still don't but who but do do Brees is. And there have been great performances here. He's the unanimous MVP absolute this year, this point homes might take some votes, but he's completing he's completing almost eighty percent of his passes. Mahomes, isn't almost forty years old doing it says much as we rave about Brady doing it at at his age with with with Brees being this accurate. It's never seen this. He was putting balls in emplacing on the along the sideline that you're like, there's no way in hell. This can be the this that had to be. But he did it again does it over again that does it every week. And he's by the way, and I maybe this shouldn't matter, but he's five eleven okay. He's not huge, man. You stand next to him. He looks like a regular adult. I if you put him in a jacket and tie. He got to school doing your taxes. He's and that team right now, and Sean Payton, Sean Payton, his I believe by my colleague, Michael wilbon, I believe he's maligned by wilbon, I'm willin likes Sean Payton, but Sean Payton with drew Brees. That's Brady and Belgium in Belgium. They'll check wall and Montana are the greatest ever. But this is the. Next one this if one one Super Bowl, and that's not a lot of Super Bowls. But when they got to that franchise that franchise had never won even a playoff game early got to the playoffs. And he got he got bounce for a whole year on Payton on that. Greg Williams, bountygate thing I mean, he's he's sort of an easy Guyanese arrogant guy, but their relationship on offense. Like, you if okay let me put it on the same page if Sean Payton goes for two, I don't say you don't have that. You'll have an argument with them on. Then you know, what I mean because he's that good. And they they tonight's game. Say great game. Those aren't those seem to be by a substantial margin the three the chances that tonight's game lives up to the hype hard to me. I was gonna say hi like I tonight ends up twenty four thirteen game. Tonight's going to be crazy. There's there's another takeaway from that. Saints game equals. Daunte eagles down there. They would definitely appear to have real problems. But they are not done because the Reagan's twice. I mean, they have a lot of winnable games in their division. But that looks for real broke. I mean, then how do we how do we sort of explain that? There was last year when that Super Bowl was over. I said on whatever era was on boy Doug Peterson looks like a guy who gets it on offense. And then he really looks like he's I don't know if he's Sean McVay, but he looks like he's in that category. They are no good. They are not an old team. You think should have stuck with foale's? I mean wince has been bad. But once it's been pretty would you foles? No, no. That's that's my question. Not not foes, but sproles they do miss guy that guy they missed. That's their problem defense. They see van scored Tony. What would you have? I mean, we'll we'll get to the the betting records of our predictive analysts later. But had I told you the saints. We're gonna score forty eight. What would you have put on an over under a fifty six and a half for that game? Imagine heavenly having the over the valleys would would score seven point something something appears to be sure and almost unfixable this year. Would you put foles in a game yesterday? I might have done that. But I don't put your you. Can't the other team scored forty eight point. Right. It doesn't matter who you put in there. They're not going to equal that. But if you're Super Bowl defending champ, you gotta do better than seven. Yes. Yes. All of that is too. But I think that the problem how can you pull up their their points against how bad is there again early on the year? Yeah. Is it like over? Twenty-five or up. There are numbers which you can't compete. Right. You can't. And by the way, they will still have the Rams coming to one in. How many ten games? That's not great now. That's not great by any stretch of the imagination comparison. The giants points against two hundred sixty three giant stink the giants. Terrible team. What are what are? Everyone's what's points against the Rams, what's because they they let up a lot. And what's? Two hundred milligrams have played one last game. You know? So I don't know. I don't know. What's wrong there? I think probably the people in Philadelphia, okay with it because they hadn't one sort of like the cubs. They hadn't won in so long that if you if you know good the next year fine. But if you know good two years in Roane, Philadelphia. The play over the jail at the stadium. Yeah. Yeah. That's that's exactly what it was there. Any other game that you saw that you want than anybody wanted to. I might point out. I mean, it's an under the radar type thing, but the colts have now one of bunch and a row Andrew luck for three touchdown. How many games in a rosy throwing for three touchdowns? And he's going down feeling. He's going right. Looks like he's okay. Yeah. And when he was the overall number one pick you said, I'm set for ten years with this guy on. Yeah. Looks pretty maybe predictably letdown after what they did last week. But Tennessee just sensually dismantling New England came here. And he's good Mary is good. What speaking of quarterbacks getting hurt? I was watching a bit of the Baltimore game for Baltimore. Cincinnati. Lamar jackson. They ran him twenty seven times. Yeah. How can you do that? In the in the pros with a quarterback. How can a quarterback get the last guy that? Griffin. What I'm not sure he ever did that. I mean that may have been a record for how many carrying a quarterback that was that was basically playing like a wishbone. Okay. I'll get out of the segment by saying this because that's very interesting. I've paid attention to what was said by the Baltimore team mates about Joe flacco. They're never ever going to say a bad word about Joe flacco because he won them Super Bowl. And he was the MVP. And it's not like they're saying, well, we got to see more Lamar Jackson. They're saying when flacco gets back flacco the quarterback. But mar Jackson's the next quarterback. Yeah. If not this year then next year he's the next quarterback. We will take a break. We'll bomb will join us Kogyo. That's when we return, I'm Tony Kornheiser. You're listening to the Tony Kornheiser show. Guitarist grams dad, the father of the year, Mr Chris white, in fact, Chris sneaky tall, and this is from paulie coconuts for Morgan woes asked me to tell Renee that they're playing Winchester, they're playing Saturday night. He writes, if you're sick of your family after thanksgiving if your team lost the big Turkey game if you are broke after black Friday, go on route seven west put the pedal down fifty seven miles and come see the window panes on Saturday night at one forty seven north one forty-seven north Loudon street in the heart. A lovely old town Winchester, no cover free, show them. No pain free. I'll probably be watching. I don't know how to order it. But I would order fill in tiger. But I don't actually know how to do that. Anyway, Michael wilbon joins us now. And I need to Michaels on his way back. He had a great weekend. Northwestern won the. Bears one on Sunday night. And today is what Mr. wilbon today is what I think the anniversary of my birth. It is. Bertha northwestern one skip all on Friday. I'm getting too, okay? Down the happy birthday to mayor mccheese as I heard him being. That's exactly right. So you Tony you hit me. Great great weekend. In terms of your teams. I'll start with north western there to number thirty in the in one of the polls. I think the people really, yes. Very good to hear how about I've never seen my coach and very rarely ever. See any coach, you know, just north western we we'd already won thirteen of fourteen big ten games. We'd won seven consecutive big pink games on the road. And yet we were underdogs by three and a half points. Twenty normally pay attention right with three and a half point underdogs at Minnesota. Not a good team after the game happens. Gerald went off. Really, did you really wanna you wanna make us underdogs at Minnesota of year? These people after the wanna make us the underdog. It was like, whoa. Whoa. Of course. We I understand his. I guess frustration. I thought coaches love it when they have this stuff to work with and he probably used it to his advantage. Yes. All week. But yes, we'd already clinched a big ten west title and Minnesota hit crunch like four and seven and we'd go up there underdog, and we pretty much took them where you're gonna be underdogs when you play either Michigan day. We still we're gonna be massive met. We will be double digit underdogs in a conference title game having won fourteen of. Yes. Teen conference game pay. Maybe not. If you get the Ohio State that played Maryland this weekend. Wow. Or or the your house to play the Purdue go people telling me, I should be rooting to get oral state. I'm I don't know how to feel. Feel why wouldn't route to get that. If I were you because you have a revenge factor with Michigan. You were up seventeen nothing. You know that site Danny green. We are who we thought they were we let him off the hook. I think if I were you crown might want Michigan. What about you? That's what I've been. I've been operating under. Yeah. We won the west division title and gotten a big championship eight December one in Indianapolis. But those who care I've been saying I want Michigan. I want him back as knowledge we gotta go to an arbiter to do it. That's what I think I think the crowd, actually. So I think in Michigan fifty percent of the people at our home game. We'll be were being twenty enough. I think it'll be more like fifty fifty because this this novel thing for us. It'll be like a tiny the Rose Bowl twenty three years ago. We had sixty five thousand of the ninety thousand against u s. In the Rose Bowl at big it might have affect. So I will say this without prompting on Saturday. I'm sorry on Friday, Mike, and I did the show from northwestern on the court, and then we did the Binghamton northwestern game and Mike drove us out to north western northwestern is gorgeous. It is gorgeous that school that town and they have built they have built this indoor football facility. Indoor indoor Philly, including football. Yeah. But it's big enough to have football. And there is an I don't know. What is the exact mileage from downtown Chicago, northwestern, how many miles is that I'm going to guess. Faye? Eleven. Okay. No, no, no. One. Let's say let's say let's say thirteen fourteen there is a spot. There is a spot where you walk outside. This is sort of an athletic eating facility, you can walk outside or even stay inside. Because it's cold a lot there. You can see the skyline of Chicago. And if you are an athlete use you ask where can I sign the paper right now. Don't you think it's? The three hundred and fifty million dollar still the that yet. It does have a indoor practice field with Sony gets walk on. Practice field. We don't have that. Hinton? Lassus? We have no roots. It's all glad it's all glass, and it's on the lake, and I I know I get angry a Lloyd with the dear people of my adopted home region. When like my dear never waters who wanted to me. What do you mean? Chicago has a beach late. Like, I said well on a plane and let another east coast person complete the ignorant doesn't understand if not like lake Minna Tonka. Oh, look there's Detroit. You may as will be on the ocean. In terms of where that building is. And with Onis describing Tony have you talked about the birds? No, this is let me go to this. I looked at the glass the sort of all panoramic glass, and there are little black dots. All over. All over the glass. And I said what does those there in? This building is in a micro, Tori bird pattern. This is to discourage the birds from killing themselves. Right right by to fly right into the way. Remember, it's a fifty hall glass wall along the lake right? And so yes, and we've only had a few bird, but they people signed to every morning wasn't around the building. And if they're dead bird car picture of it here on his phone. That's gorgeous. You're talking about s-. Waesche in where we had all kinds of environmental get that building instruct and live. You gotta do you gotta do. And it is a stimulus of Minnesota with that stadium's glass half that that that biking ships stadium. Like, I'm told out knows. I dare. This. Eighteen twenty a day flying. This thing is certain certain times the black dots. You dopes this? I don't know one of works, but it works. It's let me by the way. Did we'll go full but Bloomberg to get that place built. How big was gonna check you destroy onto Bloomberg just went one point seven billion or minus minus was called sweat equity. In-kind when that helmet is on the bed every day and other things trust. I gotta do a little something. But listen, they're people like the dodgers owner, Mark Walter who's an alum that the donation Pat Ryan my God who spun at the university. It's like nobody else tremend- written check or I mean, in some cases one hundred million dollars. I mean, you don't get to we the Steelers. Down in Vinnie college, America's so there are people writing checks. I ain't one of a write anything like that. I wish I could. I can't. And thank God is to let me in the door. So let me let me bring this up because yesterday, I get a phone call at home. Now, I get back from this airplane flight. And as always happens with me, I take drugs to get to the airplane flight, and then I override them because of my own nervousness. There's not there's not enough drugs. I can take to knock me out on a plane. I get home. It's about two o'clock. I I have something to have eaten in a while. Because I don't eat before I fly. I go up stairs got the television on. And the next thing. I know the phone is ringing. I pay us out. I was tired and I get a phone call. And it's wilpon. He goes did you see what happened? And I didn't know what had happened. It didn't even know what day I know anything about it and tell tell everybody would you it said to me from the routing not the routing into so much, but the historic inch. Of the Washington Redskins. Well, it was horrific to me like anybody else. Eight don't have to know Alex Smith, but I do. And I just I stick cheese. He's one of the few football players. I now know personally, I don't cover as much anymore. It's just a prince of a man is just eight I would kiddies in his thirties. Now, I love his family. Sister sister, Tony work for the Obama. I don't. It just all to the earth people and see him stuff that injury. And so I remember I remember I remember Joe guys been suffering that injury on my birthday. And so there's a connection to me for that Gary Pomerantz that I of course, young pups at the Washington Post the time we had to go to the hospital to sort of try to interview Joe. That night, and of course, chill the next day was like welcoming only fires could be sure. And so. Engine for the different. It happened. My career's always connected to it. Because I was like, you know, a few years in five years, and I've always, you know, I'm probably one of the few people that Joe could he knew I was there with talk to about it about the particulars even years later eight talking about it. And so to see it happen. I'm like, oh my God. I think this is thirty three years thirty three years to the day. Shortage. Went straight to Google and found out. It was not the nineteenth. So not on the anniversary of the birth date. People like Larry King Ahmad Rashad Meg Ryan and me. But the day before and it just Tony you don't know what happened. I mean. This is totally sleep. I didn't know, you know. You know, I've now seen times we we sort of new, and we didn't know because he had to play out. But we thought we knew at the time, and we were accurate, unfortunately that Jones is recruit recruit five minutes. Career would be over. What you remember? Here's the thing. You remember most Lawrence Taylor? Putting his head up to his helmet. His hang around. Yes. His hands to his helmet. Get out get out get out here and Lawrence Taylor, knowing he might killed this guy the bone is sticking to his legs ended his career. And so, you know, so when this happened yesterday, Tony it's amazing with thirty three years. We'll do. I Matthew had flown back to Washington early is with with Cheryl, and the first thing Matthew says is I told them about Joe seismic, and I made him look it up and you too. And he says sort of instinctively at ten years old was dead, medical technology so much better. Now, remember Paul George had the same injuries. When I ain't back in a year. It if Rindt of like, you know, a third of a century. Yes, it is. So this doesn't have to be a career killer for Alex Smith in the way. It was joke side, by the way. When when I got off the phone with you at that point in time. It's the second games are on by them. And I don't have to watch all the second games. I flipped over to the local Comcast station where they had those men was in a sit around flies men looks great. Yes. And he was talking about it. He was talking about his injury talking about what happened to him being hopeful about Alex Smith saying that he doesn't really like to remember that. There's two aniversary is in his life. One is his marriage to Robin, which he likes to remember. And this which he doesn't like to remember. But I I think if you're a certain age, and you're not Matthew the first thing, you think of is we've seen the end of this guy 'cause we joke that I had a hope of generation I'm like three removed from where Paul George was point of reference for him. And he's right. Wasn't that kid for Louisville? Yeah. Same thing where? All the time. Now seems and so I've had you know, my doctor guru, Dr dear friend, Jason Daniels. Amazon who says emergency medicine who treat like injuries like this when police or firemen have jump off a building and save somebody's life and they suffered that effect injury. And now because I was doing Gordon Hayward got her. I was at courtside Gordon Hayward. He called me immediately. Dr Jason Daniels and said, this is not what it was Joe five, you know, she may come back in the same year. So, you know, I I have that any also told me like any other doctors have plenty Tony this is now thought to be a hate to say this word preferred injury relative to torn knee, ligaments, because there's no. Much work. ACL MC L double whammy that people come back from all the time. It's a worst injury now than the injury to Alex Smith suffer yesterday. So I'm hopeful hopefully away, I was not just. This is by young woman named Brooklyn steel, and we get this particular Email from Tim headaches in Delray Beach, Florida, which I know well attached to regional singles performed by Brooklyn steal a talented up and coming singer songwriter, recently, moved to mash to pursue her career and country music. More importantly, she is the sister to whom I'm related by marriage. It would bring me great joy if you play music on the pod as this would leave my in laws, no choice. But to listen to a ball out about the workings of a one hundred twenty two threat and the power supply to elected teeth, neither likely us to bid on a be star Nashville name Brooklyn. Yes. Well, it's worked well for Brooklyn. It has. Yes. If you like the music both of these songs can be found on I tunes or Spotify or website, WWW dot Brooklyn steel with an ESPN dot com. This is very good musician. Michael if people like Brooklyn, he'll want to get their music on the air and be. Played in its entirety at the end of the podcast. How do they do? So sentece music by emailing to jingles at Tony Kornheiser, show dot com. So I got an accounting of how much money we've been making over the years with various things that we do. We got a boost up that store of ours. A little bit tell people how they can get a big time hat with a pom pom pom pom hat available now shop twenty coins of show dot com. All right holidays are just around the corner. You have news before we get to news. I just wanna because we've come out of the wilbon segment I just want to go through this thing with the Washington Redskins. I'm not going to spend a lot of time that with it later in the show. So I just wanna do it. Now, I am one of those people who always liked cope McCoy. I liked him better than Kirk cousins. I'm in total minority on that. And I understand it one thing I can tell you what everybody's afraid about playing Dallas Dallas Cole McCoy won a million games in the state of Texas. Now, he was a quarterback for the university of Texas. I think. He may have won more games as a starting quarterback in college than anyone ever. Or if not he's real close, and he is real close. I'm not saying there's not a drop off in. But I'm saying that Coleman Cole McCoy is. I think better than you think I and his signature performance was victim Monday Monday night in Dallas. And let me say just from watching that game. Clearly, he knows this offense inside out. I mean the ball was actually coming out quickly. I thought we him there. Now. Now, he might not have the the skills might not have the playing expense might not have a strong arm. What have you, but he's going to be prepared? I like he's gonna be lost in the offense. News in his mind. He's a starting. Yes, texas. I no question about that fans there. Oh, yeah. I mean, he's the guy hill fans there early eight point favorite or something. Now. Definitely connect to now. Big Jake, big Jordan here. Let which just saying expect a big game from Jordan Reed somebody who is not in sync with Alex Smith this entire sees. And got the immediate touchdown from your boy. The next two games for the Washington Redskins are their season. They are at Dallas at Philadelphia. They're two games up on Philly. They are one game up on Dallas. If they get out of that six, I think they're done. But if they get out of that seven five that division that's going to be nine and seven division as winner. Yes. Yes. You know and Dallas and the giants continue to win this two in a row for both of them. Both bad teams have the Washington Redskins play Dallas at all this year. Didn't they beat them? Yes. So you know, yes, they let Dell's back in and got lucky on a misfield goal. Okay. But they won the yes. You play to win the game the entire season for the Washington Redskins. If somebody wants to refute this to me on the next two games both acts. Oh, yeah. They're both winnable. Well, yes, make us village. Philly does not look, I don't I don't think there should be despair over Colt McCoy, but I in somebody who's been a fan. Josh Norman should be happy because they're on the road for thanksgiving. So go ahead and do all the news before I get to the news. A didn't you mentioned the Brooklyn has a show tonight book? Yes. Tonight Nashville in Nashville at a place called frisky frogs, which I know was almost the name of this established. Yes, I chance what we thought about it on demon Brune street in Nashville Nashville. Okay. Sounds like a French music. Hey, you go. To other NFL. Some other NFL schools. We briefly mentioned the colts and big win of titan of titan history. Looks back. Yes. Yeah. We talked about the the Cowboys scraping by win of the falcons. Did you say thing about the giants bidding Tampa Bay they want to beat Tampa one? I mean, they were bad team. But does that thing he gets the start again? Does it not seem like five times this year? Tampa has started either fits magic to Winston comes out there a million interceptions. Bring in the other guy friends of all the way back, and then they lose their terrible another you know, what that coach has to go. Yeah. Another terrible game ended up being thrilling was the raiders in the cardinals the raiders get their second win of the season with the walk off. Yes, it's a look of. And did you say about the Broncos beating the chargers? So walk off. It's the same thing. Stop. Okay. The game. That would be enough. Tonight's game. We want to sit this one. The rams. Yes, again that has been in. This is the one it's not in Mexico City where would have been on at the same time. Anyway, it's in Los Angeles. And it's these are teams you wanna see along with the saints along with the patriots. I mean, there's four or five teams that seem to have separated themselves completely. I will get back on this Kirk cousins thing they brought him in. They let go every quarterback. They had Bridgewater brand overed. Sit get out. We're rolling with this guy. And honestly, the I felt then and feel now that the pressure on Kirk cousins is as great or greater than the pressure on anyone person in the league. He's not been great this. We've seen this guy. We've seen him. He had a pick six yesterday. He had a very he had a pick in the first half where you go into three point zero one of them is the correct answer. So he has not and he knows that all the pressures on him. He's been not nearly as good with a team. That is good as right as you kind of wasted. And but their defense was supposed to be a lot. Their defense. But suppose would carry defense has been so the best. To college football the game. That was the most thrilling game the weekend, certainly for those of us interest in it. How state that was that was in some right to go for two they hit. So. I was open just missed just missed. I mean, he was on with Cam Newton. Yeah. Yeah. Almost the same. Exact you say gets a job if he wins. I almost thought he secured the job in the loss. I mean just to have them. I mean, I guess done work that way. No. I don't think he will get the Maryland job. I think if he'll get up somewhere. That game though, he would have gotten the Maryland, Ohio. He he's done a very good job with this team. He has got they actually have played for him. Well, they played for each other. And they played for Jordan, Jordan, liquors will. But my gosh, they put up how many points against the team in the country. The prior. By the way, Ohio State drops in the polls not in not in the college playoff ranking poll, but UCF went ahead of them. Got Sean at ten. Yeah. And Ohio State for the team lost only of of all the one loss teams also still set up. So that if Georgia beat Alabama they could potentially both be in the playoffs with Notre Dame and Clemson than Michigan is odd. Man, if they were to beat Ohio State. Yes, that is that's on the table. Now. That's on the tape. If state even stayed wins, the big ten championship. If ain't kidding. I don't see how they shouldn't station. And I'm gonna guy I still think they shouldn't get in. So the the other thing is Notre Dame Notre Dame. Now, there's Notre Dame will play USC US's only won three games. Should will Notre Dame suffocated serum gas six three now early? Syracuse did but lost on g but they suffocate Notre Dame in book is very offense here time. Brian. It was wonderful. Get used to. Never wear them. You know, it's for Yankee Stadium. But I know. But I know. We had a great crowd here. Maureen successfully got the Notre Dame club of Washington DC to watch the game here. They expected me to be here. I had stayed in Chicago traumas, the Notre Dame club that the next time. You're here. I'm here. They come back for. See on the playoff. This issue of wish Notre Dame volun- eating establishment of chatter, and there's one other small thing in college football, Kansas. Which is you know, that's Kansas. The land of the lost toys. I mean, you know. Markman Gino pretty well there. They did a Ryan played like four hundred pounds or something. Like that. Les miles is going there now on the cautionary tale is the Charlie weis who'd had success in college, though, not at Notre Dame went there, and bombed but less miles one choice. Never won a national championship. Less miles won a national championship at LSU, less miles has the pedigree. He played for Boesch mbacke Lor at Michigan, less miles. It was run outta LSU will literally make a lot of sense to me if anybody and Kansas, by the way, resurrection of Kansas is five victories. If you have five victories, great shitless miles can recruit. I what I can recruit the challenge air is getting those getting to your point. Tony you you go bowl game at Kansas building the statue. Yeah. That's right. And you only have to win six in order to do that. But did you see the score in the citadel Alabama game? Yes. Tied at ten and old at half unbelievable in the finals. Have handed. Yes. Yes, he did final. Skip other finished with three hundred forty yards and three touchdowns hurt. His knee at all didn't visit twenty to play them. I waited for George. I don't know that I play the way I believe that ten ten at half citadel did not attempt to single pass. But Alabama couldn't handle the option, right? Yeah. What are they doing like at arm? The second half that school in forty seven in the second half. So teen, then they didn't you can't recall the line was what fifty four was with. Oh that was like fifty. I know they're like twenty five or something gets all Alabama. Closely at the at the numbers this year, other than LSU, Alabama hasn't covered all the time lines have been so high right? And they have not covered all the time. Yeah. So I wouldn't have played to. All right. We good on that show. The spread was in the the wizards game. But they fell one nineteen one nine now five hundred thirty four and nine eleven if they go four nine. Better nece is nine and twenty. They are that was a home game against Portland. Now, they hit going to Portland and beat Portland before they had done that. But they put his good. Good. I saw where someone had tweeted John wall is playing all star defense. And by that. I mean, the defense you would see in an all star game. On him. And it should go to fall on Scott Brooks. Yeah. To Scott booked now last night Scott Brooks played his subs. You know, you can say. It's unacceptable and change nothing. Dwight Howard actually, put up some decent numbers had heard his candidate the gluteal saw. Soreness is it's I don't wanna play here anymore. I may have made him. Minutes. It was enough for me. Thank you, by the way. The Lakers win fifty one points. Lebron James then nine. Yeah. Miami's very good. But nine seven for the leg was what was the number that you said the season if and I got laughed at how you feeling predictions on feel better about it than I felt about it when they were in four. I nailed the other. I said Cleveland would not win twenty five and would fire their coach they fired. I got I got that one their their their disaster. What that tells you and Miami has if not been a disaster. They haven't been very good. This has to are you people so dumb that. You don't understand how great LeBron James when he believes what? The impact of him. He makes everybody better. He takes ten like average people and because he's on the court. They're open. Yes. And Cleveland's a great example fines, and then he finds them. He thinks that roster essentially stayed the same and he walks away. And there are dumpster fire. That's exactly why. All right. We will get out here guy radio when we return I'll tell you all about my trip to Chicago when we return, I am Tony Kornheiser. This is the Tony Kornheiser show. This is the tail end of a song by Smith was little by this this note little hot nights. Great. What's her name? Her name is on only by cheryl's. Right. Gayle mccormick. And the Beatles covered it. Yeah. I never heard anybody anything else that Gayle McCormick has ever done. But that's good enough. That is good enough. They were they were this band that was in Los Angeles. Yes. Smith doing very, much and del Shannon. Saw them in a nightclub and said, hey, you guys have got something brought them in the studio and arranged this along this forty five years that was I think it was nineteen. I don't have the stone. I think it was nineteen seventy okay. Almost fifty years ago. I am so old sixty nine almost fifty years ago. So I need to talk to you about about the Binghamton northwestern game in the great fun. I had doing that. But also I had something happened to me yesterday. That has never happened before. I don't know. Why it happened? I'm willing to believe that it was totally random. I'm not an and the moral. The story is I've got to get TSA approved because I don't want this to happen again. Okay. I've gotta get TSA approved. And I'm not, and I went through the airport in O'Hare, and I had to take off my shoes and take off my belt and take off my code, are you I assume you are TSA approved my wife is and I fly with her. So I get I have done Michael you are TSA approved. Yes of. I know you only fly twice a year. I don't fly we need to take care of this immediately. It's actually worth it. It's about eighty bucks last for five years. I think. So I go I have to go through the line. I have to take everything out of my pockets. I have to take off my belt after take off my coat after take off my shoes. This does not particularly bother me. This is what I I have stuff in my hands. And I go I go through the Magna Mamata. Didn't you just tell him? I got a friend who wants to. We're first class. We don't have to do this that move. I'm okay. And then I get stopped I stopped and I get patted down in a way that is. Well. Whoa. Like, I get patted down in a way that when it was over. I wanted to say was that good for you. Stuck his hand down my pants inside. Side the pants inside. Sure. The song. He has the gloves on still he says this is what I'm going to do. And he looked at me as you blow it in your ear, tone only land Stevenson situation. And I just said, you know, not yourself out. I mean, I the last thing I'm gonna do with saying. No, right. I'm jay. Got his hand. Also in a position that he doesn't know that is very possible on being recorded. Yes. Very possible as I walk through this line. Now, I don't know if this is on YouTube or not yet. I don't know if it ever will be. But I was out there. This was a Pat down. Now Rene who I was traveling with Rene said, I just think it was random. I just it was random even he even put stuff in my hands. If there was bomb residue and I'm thinking to myself, that's more normal. What that's more than pants. Yeah. I just won't. So he was checking out the corn cornhole behind. It was behind. It was like what are we doing? And I did it. Because again, I'm not going to make a fuss that's the wrong, and you know, you need security, I'm in favor of purity security good thing. Hopefully, that's the most invasive thing I've heard I've heard stories about that now. But. Like put on the outside. So what patiently in near sensitive areas? You'll get the pet down with the back of the hand. Watching my eyes close. But that's okay. Do this this, okay? Now. I think that this is I think this is a much more difficult thing for women than for men. Even though women are patted down by women or however, it works certainly in my house. This became traumatic is now. Pat downs are same set. And that's fine. But I was well, I mean, it's more than a pet down. If it's inside the pace that's a little bit. So I was I had stuff was fine. Like, I I'm not I'm not I'm telling the story. I think is when the guy. There's bin Laden. Yeah. So anyway, but yes, you should get TSA approved, Michael. Yes. DO hair security line is the worst security line in the news. It's out the door can be pretty bad to Sunday. Yeah. Felt like very long. No, I know it wasn't particularly long. I'm surprised because whenever I flown a few somebody meets you at the curb. Fry door at to give my luggage taken care of. But I had to go through the same security everybody else, although we got to the sort of not the front of the line, but we got to a place where when we got on the line. It was then only about twenty people ahead of us. But I had had the better experience going out to Chicago of the TSA approved. And so that was by the way, how happy where you to have gone when you did Wednesday night give it you know, it was Messier there's two and listen good. That was Jeanie Valentino of United genie Valentino of United sent me a text on Wednesday or maybe even Tuesday and she used the word challenging Tuesday because Wednesday morning, you said she said that that the weather on Thursday would be challenging which meant. And all of that all of that was fun. So so the highlight for me of the weekend the highlight for me was the Binghamton northwestern basketball game that Mike and I did color on. Now, we were out there. The guy who did play by play who was in-studio with us the week before will Fleming and the northwestern guy the Binghamton Binghamton. No, he's he's ESPN Pawtucket. Red Sox the PawSox with Josh Mauer, the original internet PTI, he's from this areas from northern Virginia. He's sick seventies of big kid and really likeable real. We I think Mike, and I had the most wonderful time with him. That's great. Let me say his Mike win out at one point for about five minutes. It was like amateur hour because now it's me and will. We're not doing any does do. Anyway, I don't know the names of the plane. And we don't need to suck up to him. I mean, I doubt you will work with him again. No. Job. Just traffic copping just getting out of the way. Yes. He did a tremendous lead us talk. So at the beginning of the game will bond we'll on his giving scouting report. Real color guy is detected like a real color. I don't even know you. Wait. So he obviously he did some homework before the shooting around texts him all the time. What they've got in what they're going to do. He went to shoot around and took notes. I didn't know there was shoot around, and I wouldn't have gone invite him. I know we got a guard named Sam Sessoms and everybody says is pretty good. It's pretty good. The real he was pushed outside awake civility that. You took the Larry King approach. Yes. I I I know nothing. I'm not doing any research mug. Go. No, anybody gonna read. No, no, no, no, no. I did talk to Tommy Dempsey for about ten minutes on the phone a couple of days before. So I knew the names of some of our player. That's good. And. Seila toil. I you know, what I sold badly guy. I forgot to do. He passes to the. So I got from Seila toil. I got the words to our fight song. And in the second half. I quoted our fight song. That's cool. Yeah. Which I don't know the tune to and which has been written in recent years because it talks about the Bearcats when I went to school. We were not the Bearcats Leon went to with the Bob cats. We were the colonials you crush that process done here. All of that. And I would just say things like, yeah. We're here for the guarantee down like eleven have to say we were nine nothing thirty in the first half. We played them even second half. Scene to at the end or something there were multiple times during that game. Or I thought I have to be one of dozens of people watch as a gay. Nothing. Has lords talented people. And in fact, acted that. I would say we're not condemning still like they are not because they're not condemning school. But at one point in the second half, I did have. I went out back in and raked the the forest floor in my backyard just help prevent to like, Michael you didn't. While you watch the game lead time was at the game. But I stayed in a in one of the pre-game sweet. So I could see it on TV. I was terrified. That's very different skill set to do a live game with you know, with somebody very well. But also with will who just met. So I watched the please make fun of me every chance I watched. A lot. Microphone which arts, but I was trying to get out of that Jim as quickly as possible. I was hoping that we'd have just a running clock in the second half. We did. Well in the second Email once they rest, everyone old once they played kids who are not even on the team at the open will bunches hijacked. The open goes pardon the interruption and starts talking and we'll find it looks at me. And I go this is live. We don't do live. I'd say I tried to be funny. Did you enjoy? Do it again. I would do that again. But somebody somebody wrote me a note, maybe somebody in this room. I don't know maybe it was Nigel. But somebody wrote me note saying you ought to do the Redskins in the bears. And you know, that's a real game with real the game. Oh, fun. This. This was funded. It's yes, I, you know, I love you guys personally a no use. So I was watching the game. Tony the game was watching. Nineteen two guys were taking threes. And I don't wanna say they clanged they hit nothing. Missed the backboard and the rim. They weren't short. They were role now on the son of finding bed guys mentioned in the pre game twenty one or twenty four it's the spread. And you said I think it should be. Twenty four and for a long time, you were sort of right on the number. Then your guys, you know, northbound's beanies pulled the Carville I made up the spread it covered thirty seven and a half. Well, considering put us the every once in a while they would put us on television. And we would like our faces were on the one that was unfortunate. You know, the thing I was most proud of I had a half hour on PTI. And I had however long that game was and throughout all of it. I wore sweatshirt. Him and to clearly see said Binghamton university. And most people don't know where Binghamton, you know. They've never heard of things you still remember the the worst of the fight song. No. I'd written at the vans with Gobi you which is Boston University. We will we will fight and be strong summit garbage. I was school go that was it was that fun. I did some purple they use it. They use their purpose of cool color, and they union they really do. And the, you know, honestly, that's how gorgeous is that school. You went to a gorgeous school. How gorgeous is that it's beautiful and actually wilbon made a great point if this sounds so small, but if you ever have the chance to take a guided tour from downtown Chicago up lake shore drive through just all of these landmarks will buns life the hospital where he was America where proposed where you know, where his mom would try getting apartment, and when we get this chance, I realize I realized that chance you get to Evanston houses are gorgeous. And you get to campus, and it and it mirrors the city in that each building is allowed to reflect the time in which it was billed which is pretty rare for a campus that he tries to go put pin everything down to that gothic revival architecture or it stuck with those mid nineteen. Sixties buildings the libraries that we can all see. So you have this this beautiful tapestry of different architectural periods. It's really nice. It's really nice. So we're in the car. It's Michael it's me. It's jackie. It's will wilpon and Julia, yes. And will pass the beach the beach to your right as you going north the Lake Michigan beach. That's where I propose to my wife. And so, of course, I said you first wife to be funny shero. Don't be funny. Anyway, it was it was it was actually great fun. I don't like traveling really don't like traveling. But I felt very good about it and wilpon had a birthday party dinner on Saturday night. That was just great just Grady at about twenty five people there and his mom was there too. It was really like, Cheryl and dawn did a great job party together for him for you sat next to a woman Tammy. And and her story was tremendous. She was she was born not born and raised raised in Minneapolis. Her dad was the first black pilot ever for north west which northwest used to be that was the hub was Minneapolis. She ends up. She goes to Stanford and Harvard Medical School. On a podcast though. She does not have a patchy. But I said at the end do my eyes. Let's get out of here. We will have a jingle and any male when we return, I'm Tony Kornheiser. You're listening to the Tony Kornheiser show. Really? Rick zoa. You got gains. Name to sit her man with the puck. I had a David Aldridge a moment when Tom Waddell was on the show. I shouted. I know that my mom does the person whom I'm related by birth works at the ABC building in downtown Chicago where yes PM one thousand broadcast from a studio the faces out onto State Street. Whenever my mom goes outside a little break. Tom always waves to her and talks to whenever they share an elevator at one hundred ninety north state St. Thomas, basically, a family friend, even if he doesn't. No it from Andy McBride it cracked me up dismissive TK was about how unreasonable it would be for Notre Dame schedule. Binghamton Notre Dame would never they won't know apparently never redefined as the eighteenth of December in two thousand eighteen because they did schedule. So I was wrong Harvey talked about that.
