Why The 16th Hole at Waste Management Is The Craziest Hole in Golf

"Dude, forget Google. The guys in the 16th hole at the Waste Management are the best Googlers in the entire history of the world. I stepped up there and they pulled they started chanting sister Elizabeth. Sister, Elizabeth. And they had a look over and they have a picture of my sister while she was a cheerleader. LSU. Like front row. I'm like, how the fuck am I supposed to hit this 6 iron on the green from a 190 yards on staring at a picture of my sister and a cheerleading uniform at LG. Like, I don't know how they find this shit. How they find pictures of your sisters and your siblings and your ex-girlfriends and dead cousins, I don't know, but they do. And they're better than Google. So yeah. Something like that, yeah, you've got all the information at your fingertips now. Well, yeah, for all those, for people at home listening, those guys have blueprints of every single player that's about to approach these 6 to 18. And they find the most obscure facts about every player. It's not just now with me, it was like, you know, near these labs, titties, like it was something like that. That's not factual. That's factual. You're like, yeah, this factual. Sorry. Today's show ends up with the why. I was like, come on, boys. I thought you'd get a little bit more creative. That's not great. But they're incredible. And just that event,

How Experience in a Sport Can Help You Be a Better Broadcaster for It

"But nowadays, I would much rather watch a smiley Kaufman call the PGA Championship. Wow, what a job he did. I mean, friend of the pod, obviously I've known him forever, but man, all biased aside, smiley Kaufman did a great job calling golf. You know why? Because he has experience in the arena. Dude's one on the PGA Tour, played high level golf his whole life. Same thing with nitties. He's displayed the PGA Tour. Obviously, the learning curve is a lot smaller when you have that kind of experience and you step in front of the camera. It's just not going to take you as long to figure out what to do because all of the golf. That's the easy part. The hard part is probably correct me if I'm wrong, it is because I've never called golf. But you have an earpiece in your ear to producers telling you what your timing is. There's a commercial, all of that, you've got a time all that up, that's the hardest part, according to smiley, is that right? Yeah, the traffic. The most difficult part is being able to talk over someone. So just pretend someone's yelling in your face, right? And you've got to keep talking through that, but also listen to what they're saying because that's what's going to be coming up next.

Tony Romo's Sound Broadcasting Advice to James Nitties

"Actually, that's the one thing I wanted to ask him, and I was talking about misses before I play with him. I was like, to get football, I don't want to ask him about fanboys stuff. I want to actually ask him about what he did when he got into broadcasting because he said it. He's kind of the style that I would like to be, where he's real and he shows emotion and it's not kind of automated and monotone and you know, I'm sure there's a lot of broadcasters that kind of get into the space and just settle in like everyone else. And I was like, dude, I was like, I took me about 8 holes. I didn't really, you know, I was kind of playing it low key, I didn't want it to distract him too much, but it was doing that himself. But I was like, hey man, did you get any professional help before, you know, you went into broadcasting because it's like you sitting next to the goat, you know, Nance, and he went on for about ten minutes, and the first time I didn't really get anything out of it because he is so excited about all the ins and outs and you said it like he's analytical about everything. And the way he described it, I was like, all right, okay. All right, and you know, in between, we're trying to hit 40 footers for birdie and we're trying to read putts in that and I'm like, he's like fully will pull you aside and talk to you through your face, which is what I loved about Romo. Whenever you had a conversation with him, he would really talk to you. He wasn't just like saying stuff that people want to hear. He really liked getting to it. And then I re visited and asked him the second day and the greatest advice he gave me. He's like, if you're sitting at the dinner table with a bunch of people. And you're explaining a story that happened to you that day, you want to get them engaged. Do you really want to have a little bit of emotion? You want to be too loud. You don't want to shout. But you want to describe it like you're trying to keep everyone fixed on you at the dinner table for your story and show give it a little bit of it's hard to explain about what he was saying where, you know, you don't want to be too loud and emotional and do the kind of deal that everyone gets a little overexcited and be a play by play, guy, but you also want to be engaging enough to where everyone's going to entertain. So yeah, I took that and I was like, sweet. That makes total sense. Because I feel like golf these days, the most the broadcast and I'm a rookie, you know? Like I'm getting it, but I want to have a little bit more high energy. I want to be a little different. I don't want to be just, you know, the typical broadcaster.

"To get the same distance. Laughing my ass off. It was one of those days where you see it happening and you're just like, I'm glad I was there to witness that situation of what was going on because holy shit. Holy shit, that was freaking that was incredible. But it was, it was fun. I mean, it was fun and shit and he did media. It immediate formed 20 minutes after every time a dude. He was so pissed. I was with Mark walker who plays champion store stuff. He went with walker to willowbrook where we practiced after the first day, but with my buddy, had dinner, whatever. And he was pissed because walker wanted to go with 6 o'clock. I mean, he wanted to stay there till freaking 9 o'clock at night and just beat balls on the range after playing no joke as nitty mentioned earlier he's mentioned earlier, four events played four events in the last two weeks, like the guy just can't get enough of golf. It's awesome. It's fun to watch. Yeah, we had a great time. It was awesome. Did you ask him anything about? Because you're doing, you're doing announcing now. You're announcing for PGA Tour live, which is cool. It's fun. It's fun to listen to. You got some good perspective. Obviously, because you played on tour, so you know, you know what the hell you're talking about? And your Tony Romo's probably top 5, in my opinion. Of sports announcers right now, just because you mentioned earlier, economic predict what's going to happen before it happens, right? Because he's been there. He knows the snap count. He knows the plays the cowboys run, especially if he's watching the cowboys. I mean, he can almost tell you exactly the play that's about to happen. But did you get any sort of advice or perspective from him on calling golf? Did you ask him about how he calls football to use when you go back to call golf? I don't know that when you're going next, but whenever you do go next, did Romo give you any tips? What's

James Nitties on the Golfing Pep Talk Tony Romo Needs

"He a better golfer than you thought that Tony Romo was going to be in the second round? You know what? In the first round, he was way worse than I thought he was going to be. In the first day, like I was like, this is going to get pretty scary. And then the second round, he totally flipped it. He was white. He was better than I thought he was going to be the first day. So yeah, he's got pretty good fundamentals like, as I said, he hits some big boy shots, but he needs someone close to him that'll sit him down and be like, and I would have said it to him and just be like, Mike, you're going to get a name for yourself. If you want to play high level competitive golf, you're going to quickly get a name for yourself where no one's going to want to play with you because you're like super slow and he has no, he just has no clue of where he's at. Super nice guy wants to be quick, even the comment where he was like, hey boy, sorry, you know, I know we're on the clock, but I'll take all the penalty shots and just put them on my score. I'm like, the champion doesn't really work like that.

Don't Bet Against Tony Romo's Hustle

"He's actually got a hustle. I heard he's pretty good one handed like he can he, I think he's hustled a couple pros. If you're giving him a shot of hole, he plays one handed and I think he's, I think he can shoot like three or four over, just with one arm, like not in tournament conditions, but yeah, it's like, if you were to think that, I'll be like, yeah, no worries, but I've had a fair few people say, don't blame like, don't give him a shot a hole. Or when he plays with one hand. So that makes sense. My book, he always said, never accept a bet that another guy proposes. It's just bad. It's just you're in for your infer, you're in for a lot of trouble. If you accept a weird, a weird prop bet that some other guy is like, hey, I bet you I will put on my head and shoot under par today. You're like, whatever you want. Well, the guy shoots like 69 because he's was part of cirque du Soleil or something and you can see perfectly fine putting on his head. So I mean, that shit happens all the time, it seems like.

"I mean, he just, he just fucking scold one, right? I mean, we're in Tyler, Texas. Trees are a hundred feet tall in places. He dotted a tree, and now we can't find the thing. So nitties and I know joke after flair and went into the water, taking drops, hitting three Woods. Like wherever the hell we were, we still hadn't even putted for our hit our chip shots for par for whatever the hell we were doing. So by the time he got to the hole, I don't even know what he made. I think he was the only guy with a par putt, right? He got a drop, and then he found his, we found his ball miraculously after 9 minutes, and then he had a park hut. So it was a situation. Like I swear to God, if I had a nightmare, I would have thought I'd never would have got off that hole before. I mean, it was insane. And that was just, that was just the first goal. Yeah, every 5s. Three 5s on the card. Three 5s on the card. Two, two walls that were deleted in the piss and three 5s. Hey, welcome to our featured pairing. Everyone's going to make bogey and act like a shithead on the first hole. Everyone leaves. Yeah, there's nothing to see here. Everyone sucks. We also had on the first day like before we even teed off. We had this, you know, you're bringing the crowd that was coming out, you've got old mate who's 75, 80 years old, 17 like Brett Favre, leg braces, and elbow braces on. He's sitting there spread eagle pretty much in front of us taking photos with a camera. I don't know, it was maybe one of those gnocchis for about 60 years ago. And you can just hear this scene clicking away. Like he's just taking 4000 photos right of Tony Romo and before that, he's like, you know, he's Tony Romo playing in this golf tournament this week. And I was like, here we go. We're off to a good start. We've got people that have never been to a golf course before. And so yeah, the first hole very eventful. Just really set the tone for whatever first round of is going to be.

"I've been hearing stories of this dude's just doing callous dynamics on the first green and he's got the stretchy bands on his golf cart and I mean, if he wasn't Tony Romo, you're just, you're calling the rules official in this guy right away, right? Yeah, and rules officials were called because there was no choice. There is no choice at all. Like, we start this thing off, so like obviously me and you know, whatever. We're writing together, which we figured because Romo and it was good because, you know, we're hitting it in similar spots and like we knew what we were doing, marking the ball, whatever. In fact, very similar we both fucking flared one into a Lake to start the round. So we were right. We were hitting in very simple. Is this good for both of us? Yeah, yeah. We were in very similar. I dropped it like two yards ahead. He goes, may you're probably at least two yards ahead of it. Still two 70 out on a par four, like not ideal. But we get there, and I can't remember who was first to hit. I think mitts hit it first, and it was way right. And I hit it infinity right. And Romo hits it. At least as far left as we hit it right to start this thing. And so now we got guys like all over the place. Well, they call each of us to the two to the T, whatever. We do our bullshit, practice swing hit, whatever we do. Flare went out there. They call him, and he's still like, he's on the cart path when they call him to hit. Like, usually all three guys are standing on the T when you're like ready to roll, right? He's on the car path, and he's got, I don't know, it was probably the tightest, the tightest band, whatever it, whatever the tightest band was, the black level. I know there are different colors, but the one where you can barely move your legs apart and he's doing like these hard freaking squats slash kegels slash, I don't know what you call them, but he's going up and down the cart path in a line before he even starts. So no practice doing any rips it off. You know how those things are a pain in the ass to get off anyway, like imagine wearing a golf shoes, like rips it off, then he gets to the first tee and hits it 50 miles left. Well, it was one of those holes, ninny, did you ever think we were going to finish that hole? No, I was like, has there ever been a group that's been put on the clock before they've completed one hole? We was standing up on the grain for at least at least 15 minutes and golf club time. That's so long. And he still had what? He stood and he was and JJ's pacing around. He's like, damn, this is a Connie show already. Oh, my relax mates all right. We're just getting started.

And but we didn't know if he was going to send some meteor over our heads while we were in the middle of the grain. Anyway, so then he finally drives down the fairway after all of this. He's like, hey boys, I'm going to hit now and then drives back over to his ball again. And now we're waiting for him to hit up up and bloody hit it a hundred yards short of the green, then we tip up, we're like this is crazy. So then we chip up, he finally hits it on the green, and now we're all on the grade, probably whatever. I think that teton was 8 24. It's probably like 9 a.m. by now. And then we'll somehow I made my part in JJ made his for a good bogey on the tent and yeah, so that was he too part of it and that was fun.

Chargers' Derwin James, Joey Bosa Have 'Warrior' Performances Against Chiefs

"Some of the things that happened while we were watching this game and I remember seeing this, it was like, I think this was before the half. They show Derwin James running to the locker room and it was like, well, wait a minute. The defense is still out there. Yeah, yeah. Durham, where are you going? I didn't see this. I didn't know he disappeared. I didn't see it. Oh yeah, scared me. The telecast, they put it, it was like they highlighted it and then Tony Romo was like, oh yeah, and derwent headed back to the locker room. He was like, he was full spray. He's like, let's get this x-ray done and get out of here. Well, yeah, whatever it was. I mean, at the time, we didn't know. He wasn't limping. He wasn't carted off. It was like he was just going. So it was like, weird, like the defense is out there. What's going on? Come to find out after Fernando Ramirez talked to Joey Bosa, apparently Joey Bosa said that Derwin James, his shoulder dislocated. And so he ran to the locker room to get his shoulder popped back in, and it made it just seemed like nothing because he was pretty much back out there like immediately. So the Brandon still he said that both of those guys Joey Bosa, who was obviously playing injured, we knew that it would be might not have played on Sunday, but he did play through the pain, played amazingly as did Derwin James. Staley called them both warriors and understandably

Do it saturday within her family could may get a watts and net. How the week. Where the jets. Play the falcons in london at nine thirty. So i said okay. I'll wash the jets falcons at nine thirty. You want to schedule it for one between one and four then i get separate giants cowboys for three. Three things one. I wish you would have dropped this bomb sooner because we we could spend a whole segment on this next week to sorry. We'll talk we have to talk about this off the air and then three take my rsvp card. Just check the. Nobody's and save the stamp. Don't even invite all you could actually come. Just hang out and watch the football downstairs from between i'm torn between the jets and the giants here. I'm gonna go jets plus five on the road in carolina. Everybody's making such a big deal of sam darnold as if we're gonna see some kind of new quarterback sam darnold stinks. I know it wasn't all his fault. He's horrible and i think jets going to better and i think you're gonna see a much better effort. Not that they're gonna win the game outright. Although i wouldn't be shocked if they do. But i like their offense. Suggest will be much better offensively this year than they will be defensively and i think the idea of all seem old jets going to get embarrassed by robbie anderson in sam darnold. I don't think that's going to happen. I think the run the football behind their big offensive line wilson. Be able to make some plays i love. Eli more jets will score points. They will at least cover the five on the road in carola so dallas. Plus eight falcons minus three jets. Plus so i also have the jets plus five you offense you think the offense is going to be better. I think the defense will be better under robert saleh like you. I don't think. Sam darnold is a good quarterback. I think matt rule has a lot of issues players coming out. We never practice. We never practiced two point conversions. I think we never practiced two minute drill. Which is bizarre..

I don't think dallas is getting there the niners with jimmy g. I can't trust them. I don't think washington's ready to make that leap seattle's got major issues on defense. Some going green bay tampa bay and then in the afc title game. I'm gonna go chiefs. Brown's interest acre on cleveland. That i can't. I mean they're good books. You think. i think you get beckham. Back is going to be a huge help for them their defense myles garrett toys for. I like the coach. I love baker. I think baker winner. So i like cleveland. Casey and then in the super bowl. I'm going with the repeat of k. c. tampa bay. I think casey then gets it this year. Okay i think it's i think they're loaded. I think they're really loaded. I think losing will be a motivating factor for them for this year. Now we'll do this every week week. One picks now. I'm gonna say this right off the bat. I don't like doing this on a wednesday. Because i changed mine. Yeah i mean. I like to make my pick sunday at about eleven. Am oh i was just saying last night on my radio. Show in the overnight. Hey i don't know if i want to give pigs. "I love drafting harris. Running back i think rothlisburger. They said he's in great shape finally trimmed down so that i cannot understand how you just need. Nine wins from the steelers. Who now their schedule here. They have home games. The steelers against the raiders bengals broncos. Seahawks is tough bears. Lions one two three four five six. They should go five and one and those games and then they're road games at cincinnati at minnesota and they have a homey that is not a brutal schedule at all to get nine wins. I i to me. That's my biggest locked by far so my three overs of the bucks over twelve packers over ten steelers and a half. What are the solid cada overs. So i'm with you on the packers. I mean at that to me is a walk in the only question i would have and we didn't go over the vegas what it might as one eighty whatever so to make up for that if you ever lose the package that's kind of two for one so that's where it could be shaky but there's no chance i mean not. Even rodgers gets hurt with the extra game in that division. They should be able to win close to ten game. So i'm taking the packers over and let me just give the listeners advice. If me and sal like it better go ahead. What's next to go the other way. i'm gonna go with the giants over. I guess nationally. They're not getting any. And i'm not a giants fan by any stretch but i do love the coach joe judge. They won't six games last year and they weren't good and all they added number the number seven. I haven't at seven yeah seven. Yeah no did you said there's an extra game here so how. How will the giants who won six last year in a bed for them. They're year to under joe. Judge make-or-break year for the quarterback. And i don't even loved the quarterback but they add golladay they get barclay back healthy. Their defense was good last year. The division stinks. I would be shocked and it would be a major disappointment if they don't win at least nine ten game so i'm gonna go over the john seven as well. I have two more overs. One the colts.

"You're upset sometimes. You're in a bad mood if your team loses and you know this whole thing that came up with was great. Because it's like they're like let's have the three cs. Tony houches coolers in corona and just now through the ups and downs just embrace at and have a good time on the beach like actually a good point. You know you're gonna win something a little bit and show your time. It's a great thing to feel winning and losing either so the imagine the ups and downs of the nfl season. And now we get seventeen games. How do you feel about the extra game. I mean it's an extra day in terms of i about players is what the players are getting an extra game. A lot of people thought when they added the extra game they might add a second by week. Doesn't look like they've done that. Obviously in terms of players the physical miss even mentally at getting an extra game. I mean players seem like they're so worn out by the end of the season. What does this do now. Well same thing. I always relate to what was the difference for fourteen to sixteen right is remember. They did that and that was better. It's always perfect. Whatever it is. It's always perfect right but the reality is it's gonna make more money for the interest is just. That's how i think about it in some ways. It's obviously the players are printing buys online. But i haven't looked at the data on it i will. You know this week is gone through. Because that's discussions gonna come up so you did a good job of making me realize go look up a little bit more detail on this. But i think that more. Football's got to be a good thing in some ways for viewers and fans right. It's always about their safety though. And i think the nfl has done a good job. Trying to protect player safety. It's only getting better every year every five or ten years so i got an imagination. Do still try to make sure that's going to happen and we'll see how it plays out. You know i'm a fan of more football like anybody else. Yeah i mean it's about money then players safety but you can't say that i can say that Yeah couple of broadcasting things. I'm we'll we'll talk a little bit more about corona. I'm just curious because now you've done it for four years and obviously when you first started the predictions were big thing with you. I loved it. I was and i was shocked at some people. Didn't like it some people like it's like a spoiler. This isn't a movie hours. It's still has to happen for toni to be right. And obviously what you did in that. That patriots chief game was completely wild. But you've gone the predictions down. Not going to ask you about that. Because i'm gonna throw. Cbs under the bus. And who asked you to do that. But i'm just curious. What is your in terms of like listening to outside advice from people. Do you take outside advice. Do you think like listen. I've got this. I've been doing this for four years. I know what i'm doing or do you try to listen to. Maybe what some people considered experts or higher ups are executives. Tell you That's a good question. I think the biggest thing for me is. I don't think like i don't want to say i have perfectionist. You know may. But i do think that i really i can't fail. It would like destroy me to fail so it's like if i was failing i will like not sleeper. I can't breathe until i get the saul in some ways because just something that you know largest instilled in your whether it's gonna baths plenty of both sides of that right but I.

"Like learning like trying to prove i like trying to figure out how to be really good something. Whatever i decide to put my effort time to into. I want to be great at that in this specific field. I spent so much time. Jimmy before i ever day talked about one o'clock i did so many practice games on my own and that was the thing i give. Cvs credit we've been together plaza. We're going through because you get hired you do on saying they see when you're out there go ahead and we had this almost boot camp training camp deal and i was like i. I'm not going out there randomly guessing. I wanna feel how this is going to go a thousand reps kinda thing right but you can't do that because it's like you need a live game you needed everything and i'll give cbs credit. Sean and david you know got together and they came up with a plan gymnast. Jim rakoff came down. We did all these practice games and it was. I mean i sounded like fairs viewers day off right. The teacher buehler buehler. I watched myself. It was so boring jimmy unit. Like this guy needs to stop doing this right house. So that was the start would be listening. Myself thousand weakness suit so what made a change though. How did you go from. Bueller to the tony romo. We know as a lot of energy during the games. I think it was just trial and error and just trying to gain are staying. I would want here. So when i listened to i was like. Oh my gosh. I am the worst announcer ever. I am so boring. i literally dying. I can't even Yourself that was like off disgusting. And then i started to just say okay do what. I'm doing anything else. Let's mimic right since like trying to throw a football when you're young. Try and copy. John elway joe montana. Brett farve. debra. Now you know steve. Whoever you go through the whole process you try and mimic. Only find something that works. I would try. I tried being jon. Gruden john madden. I tried being phil. Since i tried. "One wants to see that so all anyone can imagine at this. Point is ben simmons choking on a national stage on a world stage and missing a bunny the idea that he thinks he has the leverage to sit back. And say i'm not playing for you anymore is just. It's the kind of football i wish i had. I just want to say. I'd love to see tristan thompson on the bachelor. Almost want to throw that out there. It'd be entertaining and so by the way. These ben simmons on the words. It would be very entertaining. The question was does this make sense for golden state and while it is a little tricky having next to drain on who shoots like. He's wearing a backpack west. Ben simmons is just wearing the backup backpack I think they could make it work. The problem is the sixers side of things. Or what the sixers. Hypothetically get from golden state which would not be king's ransom. They asked for. It would probably be some young players and draft picks and the sixers. Don't need young players and draft picks. They need to win now. And i think that's why this is so complicated. Why it's hard to come up with a trade that works for the sixers with any team. Because you've got a team in philadelphia that wants to win now trying to trade a superstar. There's a reason why that doesn't happen very often. Typically win teams are trying to trade stars. It's because they suck and they know they suck but the sixers do not suck and so they wouldn't make sense for them to trade ben simmons for something. They need in the future when they're trying to win in the president. That's why i think this is gonna drag out for a really long time because it's really hard to come up with a trade that makes sense for them between golden state or any team. Is tony romo. Crazy to compare zach wilson to patrick mahomes zach. Wilson is the jets quarterback that everybody is suddenly rushing to say is going to be one of the great quarterbacks tony romo invoked patrick. Mahomes dan marino. I feel like chris. Collins worth has said that he's going to be incredible. Everybody is saying that this guy based on his preseason is going to be one of the greats which wo that would be awesome so cool. Here's the a couple weeks ago. I feel like right. Robert solid head. Coach came out and said have. Some patients is guy needs some time to adjust. Don't get your hopes up. Essentially in different words. And i feel like there must have been a reason that he said that. Even if it's just knowing that the kid doesn't handle pressure well potentially and he wants to mitigate that by being like. Don't put all your eggs in this basket. He's gonna look really good. But if you feels too much pressure on his shoulders he may crumble. I don't know. I'm not saying that's what's happening but there's gotta be a reason that a smart head coach. I know it's his first year but like robert solid. He's very smart. he's got a good football mine. I feel he interacts. Well with his players would come out and say something like that. And then zach. Wilson would come out and be very good. And here's why i'm worried and i do want to. I'm not saying mother theresa. But i want a little bit of credit for this year. I feel bad for jets fans. I feel really bad that we're getting so highway up on a guy they're gonna put their eggs in this basket and then potentially if it doesn't work out it's gonna be awful for them. You don't understand. How mean patriots. Fans of ben to the jets over the last year this. They're seeing this as their moment that they can do this. And i feel like they're going to get their hopes up so much on this guy. And i just it's too much pressure okay. I'm very sensitive to it. And i just want to remind you that solace said chill out so everybody should chill out on both sides. So the romo quote gave me a little bit of deja vu. And i realized it was because three years ago two thousand eighteen romo on the same like media call said about another jets quarterback. He's got the great thing that all the great ones have. And that was of course sam darnold and i say this not to cachet tony romo because i also thought sam darnold would be really good and many so will be but he walked into a terrible situation in new york which we saw. And i think it's a reminder that arm talent is one thing but circumstances matter a great deal and we probably shouldn't overreact to the preseason until we see that armed talent. In those circumstances facing regular season defenses. And i was really thrilled. By what. Zach wilson did in the preseason. I thought he looked incredible. He also did it against backup so again. This is not to say. I don't think that wilson is going to next. Dan marino is just to say. Let's pump the brakes a little bit until week one. Yeah i don't think this is the worst prediction of the tony. Romo's ever made in a career of making predictions at least in his former life. I would say that. Probably his prediction that the packers and jaguars we're going to go to the super bowl. In a year that they won eleven games combined was probably the worst addiction. I so it's not that bad. This is what we do. You guys like this kind of stuff. Used to fire me up. When i didn't work in sports right but this is what we do. This is the hot take time. What twelve days away and days away from the season started. You're going to start hearing these kinds of things. And we are very quick to sort of a scribe. We need cops people. Love cops comparisons. Because let's be real your average fans not doing the groundwork that is doing. They're not breaking down tape. They're not looking at the scout analysis. So people like comparisons and when you hear someone say patrick mahomes you think. Someone that's got mobility that can extend plays. Who's got a canon of an arm those kinds of things. Right and zach wilson for all intents and purposes has all of those. He is obviously going to take his lumps. He is a rookie and he isn't the jet. I would just like to say this though anytime someone in a prep call starts talking about the afc and all of the great talent that is in it like tony. Romo did where he shouted out the patriots. Mack jones and how they're a real contender and the dolphins are going to be legit to and then of course described new york jets quarterback zach wilson as.

"Speaking of guys smelling like avocados and feeling good. That'd be mack jones now. The starting quarterback of the new england patriots gets the job cam newton no longer part of this organization. Bill belichick got to touch with in a gangster when he made this move on tuesday and was instant milk hyper junior when he had a chance to talk about. How intriguing quarterback now are in the afc shaw because all these dudes are on the twenty six years of age. Mack jones a rookie with the new england patriots. To on the second year with miami. You have josh allen. The buffalo bills and he's close to being an elite quarterback and zach wilson the rookie of the new york jets. You look at this division now. Maybe you looked at the move that he was able to make to say. Well i gotta get ahead of the curve. Because all these quarterbacks in this division are younger than the guy. I thought about was going to be the starting quarterback when it comes to cam newton you know all every every half years you go to a division in that division has young quarterbacks that you think are going to be there in the long haul right you'd think about jim. Kelly's dan marino's when they were in the afc ease way back then or you'd think about as most recent cam newton that matt ryan's in drew breezes that was sitting in the nfc south. Now you take a look at this division and from top to bottom. You got some talent. I don't know where to we'll finish up at. But if let's say for instance to swap out for some reason for the shine watson. That division gets stacked at the quarterback because of josh allen. Starting at all then. You gotta zack. Wilson who a lot of people would fact tony romo a good friend of mine in next make thinks zach. Wilson will be a top five quarterback three to five quarterback in this league in a very short time. So you look zach wilson. Then you moved amac jones obviously in his situation. The new england patriots. So the quarterback spot is there to stay for the long haul in the afc. Now how many championships can they get out of that. We watched that division be dominated and owned by bill. Belichick and tom brady for a long time. Now it's opened up for others. You see pretty. I love narratives fans love narratives to follow so wanna narratives i saw yesterday was the alabama quarterbacks right. I'll to a tunnel below mack jones. Both starters in the afc east. Who's going to pan out to be better. Jalen hurts obviously playing for the philadelphia eagles. I still considering to be oklahoma guy. But that's a narrative that you follow josh allen. Second in the mvp voting emmanuel sanders. Stefan digs that resources. That he has. Are they right there in the same class with the kansas city chiefs. That's a conversation. i believe. They are close enough. They are right there. there are an upper tier. And then you get to. You know the way this division just pans out in general everything about this league. Even with zach wilson. I mean tony romo tedious alluded to it. People saw when you see. Patrick mahomes his name in the same paragraph as zack wilson. That comes from tony romo. That's a narrative. I'm gonna follow now. I'm paying attention to it. So up and comers this league is going to be one of the most exciting divisions there is in the national football league. Here's the now that is completely one hundred percent and you guys know this and everybody knows now the nfl's a second by second league. It's no longer year to year. It's no longer week the week. So more than ever. Before when you got the biggest baddest boy in jungle. That's patrick mahomes. Everybody is going to be compared to him. They compare tom brady at times. The patrick mahomes because he is here right now doesn't make you're right though for it. I didn't say making right. i hear you. it doesn't make but it is what it is from the standpoint up if you are going to push agenda when it comes out of your quarterback your team you're gonna compare that somebody great. You don't compare people to nobody's that never works in the national football league. So i get it with the whole thing with zach wilson but tony romo keesa what he had to say about zack. Here's the deal. it comes down to. Who's going to be the best vision and right now. Many people on that narrative that mac jones makes the pages a lot closer to the candy chiefs. He takes the patriots new england. I'm not saying. I'm not saying it's too king said i know but it's just it it. They need to just just let him just one game. At a time. I get it one game at a time. I think you know. Freddie and j the knowing the patriots looked like the new england patriots of the early years of tom brady will they will dink and dunk play. Defense run the ball with to tidy and and trying to get out the game with a w that's what they're gonna look like. They're not gonna look like the patriots of six years ago seven years ago. It's not going to happen then that they're not gonna do that with that young quarterback they're gonna protect him and make sure that he's not harassed on a constant basis. All i'm going to say is what if i'm not saying it's going to happen. You're not gonna play the game or you. Why not at a game. That's that's my role here. I understand. I am the band holiday weekend..

"Sports radio studios rob just for a couple minutes quickly The houston texans. There's reports that they. They still want to shine watson to be their starting quarterback not just in the future but this season he hasn't been put on the commissioner's exempt list yet. Rob i get now. I understand the hesitancy in going. All in with the sean and feeling like any moment he could be taken away from you right because he could be. I don't think the whole the plug at any minute because the legal stuff they're not going to karachi correct correctness right after the season so he'll be available at least legally rob for the whole season. The question is what will the league do. And so i get the hesitancy in going with him. If that's the case. But i'm look. Where are they going anyway. This year right where they go without any show. I would try. I'm trying to smooth things over with him to you. Have a new coach right. You got to have a new system. Obviously and so. I put him in there. I'd be looking for him to play man. I really would but some amazing where he where he is. Chris from where he went with them. Do you know what i'm like. Go on a fantastic right and and other years. They had great years and they made the playoffs initially donated win. You know you'll you'll appreciate this. And i'm not saying he's guilty. I don't know what he is. All right we'll find. that out. body knows right right just all not but similar and this guy even there was no court case or anything. You don't remember me. Remember puckett had his great reputation yep and he got caught in like this some woman in the past right. Yeah yeah and he came out after his career and people were stunned but deshaun watson had an impeccable reputation and maybe still is legit. I mean again. I find out. Hopefully what the truth is but it's obviously being challenged and tested. That's for darn sure. Yeah because people gonna look at you. Chris and to list more clarity but right now. It's it's kind of foggy and you gotta be like well. I don't know you know. Just an especially the. I think what really hurts him. Just a numbers just so many. You know what a main chris like you could believe two or three or making up a story. Can't you right yes. There's no doubt. I mean just to third odi thirds who are women. I just to thirty it thirty thirties. It's just it's just too many people that many people lying a few more rob that haven't joined in the civil or criminal cases and they're just the talk about it right so that's that's a couple more. That's what i'm saying. Yes that's the part that that doesn't look good for him because it's just too many. Yeah it really is a at least thus far. It looks like it could be a real fall from grace but we'll see but let me ask you. What if the texans. If i'm the texans and he's healthy rob right now. Unprepared him to be quarterback. That's what i'm doing..

"I think that that's where at the tony. Tony romo conversation is i just. I don't see him as a hall of famer. And i think to put a in would be stretch. I'm with you. I don't view him as a hall of famer. Either i understand. He put up some numbers. There's no doubt about it. I don't think this is a my view. I don't think this is a result of him. Being in the media now and being very highly regarded in that aspect. I just think you know. I thought when he played. I thought he was a little bit overrated. He was good. He was very good at points. But i felt like because he was the quarterback of the cowboys. He got a lot more love and a lot more attention that he would have elsewhere and that goes with the territory. I mean that same thing. He gets more attention and love than he probably would elsewhere. And you know when you do well is magnified. It's almost rob is almost like being in new york. You know what. I mean like when you're in dallas and you're the quarterback everything is magnified really almost any position but just playing for that team because it's such a national team but i think look a lot of people will say well. He is the all time leader for the cowboys in yards and touchdowns and of course the cowboys had the great roger staubach and the great troy aikman and he threw for more yards and touchdowns in both of them. Here's the thing and i know. He ranks fairly highs. Thirty fourth all time in yards twenty fourth all time in touchdowns but rob you know this. You can't compare the stats of the quarterbacks today games it's a totally quarterbacks and receivers back then you just can't number one. They didn't throw nearly as much but beyond and some people today might say well. That's because they didn't throw it as well and all that you know rob. The completion percentages. Were far. lower back. Then you know dues were fifty percent above now. Obviously they're not in the mid to high six these nowadays. But here's the thing. Quarterbacks protect it back in the day by the rules the way they are now. Quarterbacks rob used to get teed off on and so did receivers right i. It was a whole hill such thing as defenseless receiver. It was so it was different. It was not jest that teams throw more today. It was also the rules. Were so much different. And they weren't in favor of the quarterback and the receivers like they are today. So that's a big chunk of his. So don't tell me he's not nearly as good as roger staubach or troy aikman was and what are they have that he doesn't have super bowl. Yes a lo- in video games. They've won big games. I mean this when you talk about hall of fame you wanna put him in dallas cowboys hall of fame chris. I ain't gonna fight over that. If you want to do that and i mean yeah you put him up there but you know what i'm saying like usually people in the cowboys. All the fame route one. No banter quarters ice ry. That's what they were. Great team back in the seventies eighties. And you know it's been the last twenty some odd twenty five years that they turned into not being winners. But i i just i think you've gotta be real careful just putting people in on on empty numbers like people say matthew stafford going to go into the pro football simpler rob. No yup is very similar. His numbers probably or even better than romo off the top of my head..

"That i did even throw a touchdown in that game. I don't even know. But he was shell of himself at that at that point so i'm not. He's a great player. I get it. He won all the mvp's and all the other stuff. And obviously of i five and family. Yeah but i don't. I just i don't look at the game and go. Oh yeah peyton. Manning was the reason that happened. that changed everything. He was just joint stuff out left. And right i mean i. I wasn't seeing that before. Peyton manning yeah. I just now doing this doing it. All over the place. I'm just saying i don't hang on to that. i just hang onto. He was a prolific. Throw a passer and you know and did a lot of great things in one a lot of games or whatever and he and he got his two super bowl so and he was a super bowl with two different teams. I do agree with belichick. That he's the i mean. He's played aaron rodgers. Well because but because he beat ballot check. He has a winning record. You know what. I mean so yeah i would see where bella check would give him his ultimate respect. Well rob of course. It's always on to the next thing in our society and right after you know. I mean the buster still warm or cold or whatever you would call it. People started talking about next year's class and up for next year's class is the media darling the broadcasting sensation. Tony romo and people think people are debating whether or not he is indeed a hall of famer. What's your take on that. I don't think he's a hall of famer. And not even close. And i think this is all smoke and mirrors. This is what happens when you do television. And you become more popular now than when he was a player and that's really popular now but he's probably more popular now and now people are going to look at his career differently. They didn't even wanna playoff game when he was there. I did. they win one two. Oh okay. I don't remember him missing a mishandling extra point that caused them. Yeah i remember that one of the first memories people have. Yeah i mean. That's what i remember. You're right that you know. That's a big faux pas. And i'm not saying he didn't put up some numbers but at hall of fame. You gotta be the best of the best to me not just because you played for the cowboys and you had some success. Those aren't onto cowboys. I remember as as the most successful even though he had decent stats or whatever. But that's not. I don't see him as a hall of fame. I think what happens. Is you see it in baseball. A lot. lot of guys go to the broadcast booth and become very fan favorites and somehow get in through the back door. You know baseball hall of fame. A lot of phil rizzuto old yankee announcer. He had a career but he played a great team. Chris that one ten world series so thorough. God in you know he didn't really get in on his own merit..

"And the graham and as i said earlier rob last weekend of course was hall of fame. Week of the pittsburgh steelers in a dallas cowboys kicked it off of course with a an absolutely hard on the is football game. I was wondering if you were going to like sugar coated. It was to watch football but my goodness gracious. Yeah it was bad. And then of course the hall of fame inductions and bill belichick the headliner. Of course. A great class was peyton manning. And he said this about manning. Bill belichick did over the weekend. He is definitely the best quarterback. I've coached against there've been quarterbacks who called their own place but it was nowhere near the same way he did. He basically call every play by adjusting and or changing the play once he saw what the defense was doing. He excelled at using the cadence and recognizing blitzes and more the any one single office player. He forced us to change and adapt defensive game. Plans and manning was three and one against the patriots underbelly check. Afc title games rob so that probably has a lot to do with why he Said that about peyton manning. Barat i agree i when i when i think about peyton manning. His greatness obviously won two super bowls. But i feel like he changed the game rob from the quarterback position because i mean he he would call the game. At the line of scrimmage and now that's commonplace but before him it wasn't you know you went up there and you ran the plate for the most part you might audible you audible of us to audible notice hunting. But not what he's done. I mean he would go up there a razor. We almost towards the end. It was like every play. He's calling at the line of scrimmage. Audibles weren't happening all the time like that. He was basically calling the game. From the line of scrimmage and now at various levels you see quarterbacks doing that so that. That's really what i think about. You know when. I think about peyton. Manning is how in my view he changed the game. Like that yeah. I don't look in them now. Where i just looked at him as a guy who put up a ton of points and yards and all that regular season of struggled in the postseason for whatever reason really one one super bowl against a week bears team. Yeah and then the other one got got a great defense..

Super Bowl LV: How Tom Bradys Bucs Upset The Chiefs

"Bill. It is eleven twenty nine pm eastern and we made it. We have arrived at our final late sunday night session of the nfl season. I think you're showing the appropriate level of enthusiasm. Just watch ill. Barnwell has been our. Nfl oracle through low. These many football weeks you can catch wisdom on the bill. Barnwell show podcast and his monday column on. Espn plus bill. I know i'm washed. I knew that coming in. But tonight i also discovered that i'm like had to close my eyes because the weekend halftime show is making me wash so on top of these horrific super bowl. We ended up getting an. I'm also just the opposite of tom brady. In every sort of genetic sense it turns out. There were so many songs i've heard in uber's or biggest when i was like. Oh that's who does that song. That sucks i. i'm. I'm okay with that songs now. I really learned a lot during the halftime show. Not sure i learned so much during the actual game l. If i mean it just in thinking about what are most notable takeaway or the the moment remember from the super bowl will be years from now it comes down to maybe mccall hardman lining up full yard offsides on a field goal. Try tony romo. Getting very excited about a streaker. In the fourth quarter of lot where he was trying to will the game to be competitive was a a complete and utter dominant victory by the buccaneers and was an upset but the thoroughness of the whole thing and the repetitive nature. What happened from series and series for possession possession. Really just sort of by the end of the game. Everyone knew what the story was because it was really office so it did feel a times bill like we were getting. Tom brady playing his hits. But before we pay our respects at the altar of brady and all of his non washington is. I want to ask how exactly kansas city. Patrick mahomes looked this helpless. Because that's what was shocking to me too twenty seventeen before mahomes was a starter in the league to find a game where the chiefs had been. Shut out of the end zone entirely before tonight. So how did the buccaneers. How defensive coordinator. Todd bowles stopped. One of the most unstoppable offenses. We ever seen it. Was you know sort of a game. Plan out of the nineteen sixties. Winning at the line of scrimmage and dominating upfront and you know. I don't want to exaggerate. Wanted to subscribe to recency bias. But i have to admit i'm not sure i've ever seen an offensive line. Get beaten badly over the course of an entire game as the chiefs were by the buccaneers on sunday. Night me last year in the super bowl we saw nick bosa and the forty niners really dominate the chiefs from most of the first three quarters were on pace to win that game but fourth quarter. Nick bosa got tired. And patrick mahomes turn things around very quickly. The chiefs launched forward scored a bunch of touchdowns and won the super bowl. And this time around. We were sort of waiting for that moment right and it never happens. The buccaneers pressure mahomes on virtually every single meaningful past play. This game often

Cowboys' Prescott doesn't get deal to replace franchise tag

"Not Deal for. Prescott and the cowboys could not agree to terms on a deal that would have the quarterback between thirty three and thirty five million dollars annually with a hundred and ten million of that guaranteed. So Daf will now play this season on the thirty one point four million dollar franchise tag. He will once again on himself this season if there were reports that the two sides were close, they clearly were not close enough. WHO's more likely to regret? Not Getting a deal done deaf Prescott or the Dallas Cowboys. I'm going to say. Despite the fact that I believe is going to end up the highest paid player than Patrick Mahomes in NFL, history I Dak is going to get the money that he ultimately wanted I think he's going to be franchise tag this year franchise tag next year and then hit open free agency. But here for deck that in the in the pursuit of that money, he's going to become an athlete that I. Don't think any athlete wants to be which is your name is not your name anymore? It's not Dak. Prescott is having a Joe Johnson Joe. Johnson stopped being Joe Johnson. He started being Joe Contract because no matter how good he was, he was never going to be able to live up to that contract. And I think Jack is setting himself up to be a little bit richer than he otherwise would be. Be a guy who can never live up to that contract, and the reason I think Dallas is not gonNA regret this, even if they back on the quarterback treadmill is because the the worst thing you can have in this league. Wild does not have a quarterback. The worst thing you can have is a vastly overpaid quarterback. If you don't have a quarterback and find a new one, you can go try to find one if you have a vastly overpaid quarterback. You're just stuck and so I think Jack is going to get what he thinks he wants in this the most money in. Have ever gotten aside from Mahomes I. Think he will end up regretting it because you have a great organization, you have great skill, position guys, and if he would've just signed for Carson, Wentz plus ten percent, no one would've held it against him, and instead this contract and the negotiations around at wild. You're going to be the narrative surrounding him for years to come. See I disagree. You think that it's it's. I think the worst thing to have is a mediocre quarterback. Any shot at the super. Bowl and I'm GONNA throw to a clip of Darren Woodson in a second, but I think in our minds if it's been glossed over that, it was troy and then Tony, but there was a the drew bledsoe Weirdo error there that they were in a bad spot. If we can take a listen a Darren Woodson please hubs. In, the world when you have quarterback purgatory. Where you can. You're not good at that position. That position is holding you back from winning games, and there was a time before Tony Romo era. Where there were four years, we went five and eleven. In a week, totally struggled at that one position in in today's game that one position is means a ton means wins and losses gotta get you over the Hump in when you don't have that Clare in that position. It's a huge struggle. I'm. So. Bryan. I think this eventually gets done I. Don't know if he gets franchise again. I think that we just moved the goalposts and a long-term deals going to get done. They like each other. Dak wanted for the cowboys wanted five I. Don't think the answer is. Let's get divorced just because we can't agree. I think this eventually get works gets worked out and I. Don't think anyone has any regrets long-term. The cowboys ended up regretted. Just a bit because I think that goes out and has a very good year. This season with Mike McCarthy Mike McCarthy comes back in after winning a playoff game or two, and says we need to have Dak back now. The cowboys have to pay him that long term contract, which is going to be a little bit more than they would have had to pay him this year. Here's the question that I've always had. If if the cowboys don't love, why would they ever want to sign him to a five year deal versus the forty deal if you don't love them then? On to a four year deal, you can get rid of him quicker. Why would you want WanNa longer contract if you don't love him, and you don't know exactly what he is for your football team to me I think they know who back is they just don't WanNa, pay him because they see him as a fourth round pick. A guy that has played well in this career hasn't quite got over the Hump. I don't think they want to pay him if I'm back Prescott I, feel like I'm in a great position to meet the floor. The absolute four is thirty three to thirty five million dollar contract that you can get from some other team after the season. If things don't work out for you here in Dallas, I think a team like Jacksonville. Teams that would need a quarterback was still need a quarterback next year and would be that open market possibly if he doesn't give franchise in the floor to his contract would be that deal that he turned down this season from the cowboys.

How Tyson Fury Defeated Deontay Wilder In the Ring and Outside of It

"Talking a little bit about this story that we got into in one of our episodes last week Where British box Tyson fury mistaken on American deontay wilder and we all know the from the last episode wilder claimed that he lost the fight because he had put on this big heavy suit of armor to hype the fight and his walk into the ring he had to wear this and it was a forty pound cost. You Mia no one bought it. Let's just say that. But he's sitting in heavy legs as a result. Basically a guy didn't want to give credit to his opponent. Yeah it'd be. It'd be a little different. It'd be a little different Steve. If it was a figure skater. Who said that to wear forty pounds thing or a gymnast fucking heavyweight boxer? You know carry four hundred pounds anyway. That's initially stupid. Go ahead yeah. So fury on the other hand Well his preparations for the fight. We're kind of interesting he. He actually boldly predicted he'd knocked wilder at within the first two rounds and he was right he did but he also revealed that his preparation for the fight is bizarre side. He wanted to keep his testosterone just absolutely pumping so we did a lot of things you didn't before he eight five six meals a day. He drank seven leaders of water. Is Homefield Advantage Dead?

"WANNA start here eight and I think this allows us to get in week fifteen you mailed me some stats last week And now we saw again today. Road teams were nine and six against the spread. The road teams won all nine of those games outright for the season road teams against the spread. One twenty five ninety three three and five there thirty two games over five hundred while home favorites Through fifteen weeks or fifty seven eighty one in five twenty four games. That's amazing right there. And we have had over and over again these double digit losses. We just had it today again with San Francisco cousin. Sal I ask you this homefield advantage dead. It might be there might be. I think you said you said it in basketball you were saying was dead. It's funny yesterday on text exchange. But yeah if you're looking through your pools and you have to pick sixteen games a week if there are no bison. You're going six and ten every week it's because you're taking home favorites. I know I know it's hard hard. I know when the better team is laying six at home. It's hard to not circle the left side but stay away. It's very bizarre an extremely bizarre week. The raiders was ending that Falcons ending the Vikings first half cost people money the way that ended obviously the Redskins Eagles. That might have been the worst ending if you had if you had the redskins the plus points Or if you're going against Cooper cop in your honesty semi funky you hold. That thought we were talking about that. I think what's interesting to me. I I remember I wrote about this at the end of last decade ironic. I think Oh eight zero nine I wrote about this trend with with the NFL where it didn't see my homefield matter the way it did and then we had settled into this eight nine year run. We're homefield still mattered. But not like a date when we were growing up where it was like. If you went into somebody else's house also really hard to win and then you get to this year and I think we're seeing it with basketball to serves texting boat this weekend. I think there's three reasons I think the first reason is the secondary market. And the fact that you just don't have stadiums anymore words just completely fans for the home team yet so it it always seems to be more splintered than it used to be. The tickets have gotten way more expensive so I think that's that's Priced out some of the crazies. You know like some of the friends wrens. You had grown up some of the friends that I had back in Boston. It's just harder for them to for tickets and then I think the third thing. There's been so much talk about civility ability at games and you know fan behaviors. Just been a huge spotlight on how people behave and what they're allowed to do and yell. Oh and all that stuff and the crowds just seem Tamer and we saw today with the raiders. Blew a game late to Jacksonville Euro and this was the last I Oklahoma Game. It was on those on that. They're not gonNA lose their last home game and frigging g Menchu when right down the field out and then we saw it again today with Buffalo. It's like Ow Josh. Challenge when push comes to Shove Jiaxuan is not GonNa be able to get points in Pittsburgh. The crowd will take him out of it their defense no Josh Allen right down and scored. I don't know who has the great home field advantage anymore. So we'll Josh Allen didn't have a great game no thirteen completions. That was just an. I'm sorry I Pittsburgh Burke might still make the playoffs and I pray that they do because I have. They're the only team I could see betting against in that first round like I have a feeling on any other first round match unless Pittsburgh goes to Kansas City. I mean they've they've got in the last five games in which the supposedly hot they scored fifteen points a game. It's just Mike. Tomlin did as much much as he could. He can't do what you can do for this offense. You can't fake punt from his own twenty eight every week. I'm sorry but I think you're right. I think it's all the things you said. I also I think. Road teams coaches management has figured out the exact amount of time a team should spend in the opposing city. You know it's easier to travel now all that kind of stuff so there's not that much The jet lag isn't as big a concern. But you're right. We used to see division winners at seven and one eight eight. No now aside unless you like the packers this cowboys eagles four and three Kansas City foreign three at home like even the really good teams. You know Houston only five and two at home. Buffalo's GonNa make the playoffs only four and three at home i. I don't know what the reason is but trust us. These home teams are not. They're not better than they were five ten years ago. Yeah and I think that Tennessee Games are good example right. Yep didn't really seem like it mattered. Where that game was played and I don't think it's GonNa Matter Week? Seventeen either right now. The crowd was was good. They were into it but it wasn't like wasn't like the Shawn Watson was going to be affected by the crowd. We left out another reason that I think matters maybe Charles back to our childhoods. But you know the headsets the head facing the helmets and the and the QB being able to hear the offensive coordinator being able to move faster and the the even somebody like trubisky you know they were in that game that I know the packers won by eight. And if he didn't see the game you just assume The packers they were up double digit second half but the bears were lingering in that game and there were a couple of moments era when it seemed like they had a chance maybe to force overtime and I didn't think h Bisky who I don't think is good then look scared but he. He certainly wasn't rattled by playing in Lambo. So I stopped when when you know the we've been doing million dollar pegs you and I have been. We've been betting all season. I've really stopped looking at home field. They're very very few times. Do I say to myself. Oh my God that teams home. I really really love having the home team here even even tonight I bet on Buffalo. Hello at Pittsburgh. And as you said Josh Allen wasn't great but they were still able to move the ball and they needed to and their defense certainly traveled. It didn't seem to matter to them where they were playing. And I just think we throw homefield out. I don't know where it really matters anymore. Well if we go into the playoffs saying I just can't see so and so winning at ax EXC. There's not that many of those anymore right right. Then probably win their game at home and you know the niners or or or award seahawks over wax or they'll have a by but you know those some of those row teams near Green Bay will probably win at home but you can't say unless it's dot co dot com is going to Kansas City. I can't really say Buffalo. There's no way they're winning in Houston right or anything like that especially when you get to the one to three seeds when they match up so do you think is Seattle place that you feel like homefield battered team in the playoffs That's probably top three but not as much Chisato did eight years ago when Tony Romo had to go there or something like that. I don't think it's slow because think about what are they foreign to Yeah about about their last couple of games whether seven and one on the road I mean it is scary arose team right there. Last couple of games Minnesota went in there and put thirty autumn atom. Yep and then the game before that James Put thirty four on them in that game went to overtime I don't know I I wanted to start. The season isn't yeah. It's not the

Dallas Cowboys: what you might not know about Jason Witten

"Catches for Jason Witten next season with the Cowboys years coming back. Yes. I heard that. So in his last fourteen seasons with the Cowboys. He never have fewer than sixty three catches never even when Tony Romo left and Dak Prescott was there who supposedly didn't throw him. He had sixty nine and sixty three catches older gonna throw to Amari Cooper will through the desert Prien Witten still made these catches. So the only way you can go under to me if you think he's going to get hurt. But in those last fourteen seasons, he missed two games two games in fourteen seasons. So I'm going over. I'm going to go under. You're just dismissing Dak Prescott corvette sixty nine sixty three talking about a guy. All right. So the last time he played with six catches, right? It's funny last season fifty playlists I get it you come walk right back and everything on the tight end tight is about twenty as they got a running back. They got to have that one. You know that when he was there. What do you thinking? How many are you thinking less than that? And I'm worried about him. I think when a guy does miss that much time. I think that's an injury start to crop up a little bit.

Oscar nominations 2019 predictions: From A Star is Born to Roma

"Eight. I saw green book most recently, which I thought was great that may end up being my pick to to win the best picture. You've seen all best picture movies except for Roma. So you've got Black Panther black klansman bohemian rhapsody, by the way, Adam Lambert and Queen are going to perform Sunday, that'd be cool. That'll be really lady Gaga, Bradley Cooper performing. Which will also be cool. You really cool the favorite green book Romo rumour, aroma. Tony Romo model a star is born and vice. And who you picking unpicking green book to win because I think it made you feel the best and it was well done a period piece based on a true story, Rome. I think is getting a lot of a lot of buzz too. But maybe the director Affonso who also I think one best picture for gravity in our best director in two thousand thirteen for gravity Black Panther, which I know dragon scene for sure is definitely the best of all the marvel movies ever made. And it's interesting because it was such a big deal about their cast being all black the director and writer Ryan Kugler African American and so I'm surprised that he wasn't nominated for best director as well, Spike, Lee. This is his fifth nomination for best director. He's never one. But I'm picking green book to win that wouldn't be surprised if Roma does I loved bohemian rhapsody. But you remember when it came out, and we talked about they took some liberties with the story joke that Freddie Mercury doesn't die of aids in the movie because I remember making that joke. They changed a bunch of stuff around in that movie. Why did you read the bio and Freddie Mercury? I talked to friends that have seen it the no a lot more about Queen and the timetable with how the movie plays out and how he got in the band and stuff, but it's an entertaining movie. What's the best movie you've seen this year because I'm picking green book to win? I haven't seen any of them, by the way. So I got nothing. Oh. Yeah. Set a best picture you haven't seen Black Panther either. No. But are you a superhero movie guy? No, not at all. No. I I haven't seen any of those. I'm gonna say that I I like bohemian rhapsody a lot and I'm not a huge Queen fan. But I really liked it. But I'm gonna go with the stars four stars born it was it was really really I think the biggest reason reasonable win. Cathy, is that it's already been this is the fourth. They've done this story. I know that they've tweaked it. I didn't lady Gaga is gonna pull the upset for best actress, I hope so I you know, it really really made me like lady Gaga put her in a total different category fro. Yes. She's fantastic. A great singer. But you know, I I like her music, but I never put her like on this pedestal you've tried to act not try you weren't actor try. That's a bit of a stretch. But yeah, but the point is imagine the first real you ever play you get nominated for an Oscar, and I get that she's playing a struggling musician, and she can easily identify with that and go back to what it took to get discovered and all of that. And and you know, toiling in nothing jobs hoping for that break, but to execute that onscreen, and she was she was the best part of the movie by far Bradley Cooper is really good. But I hope she wins. Even though Glenn Close, it's seven nation. She's never one. So she could be a lifetime achievement kind of winner. If you will she's phenomenally talented, she s I don't know. But I liked Ramey. Malik as I think he's going to go. I mean, he did a great impersonation. So let's go actor in a leading role, you got Christian bale? Vice Bradley Cooper, a star is born Willem Defoe at eternity gate. Remmy Romney Malik bohemian rhapsody Vigo Mortenson green book, jussie smollet for the Chicago hope. Very funny. Avi next next year. He'll get one for that bright. Yeah. Like when Golden Globes. Yeah. So that it plus you're combining acting and singing did he really singing. Oh, okay. So we he was acting like a cigarette. Huber really saying. Yeah, he did having Adam Lambert seeing at the goal K, so okay. And at the Oscars, maybe Bradley Cooper, then because he's singing and acting and this is any directed it. This is Bradley Cooper's forced nomination as an actor, and he's never won Christian bale. One once Willem Dafoe. This is his fifth nomination. He's never won. And I don't I know Vigo Mortenson hasn't won. And certainly Rami Malik first nomination. Still picking me Malik to win. I thought he was great. Actress in a leading role you have low LIZA appereciation from Roma. You have Glenn Close. Everybody knows here from the wife Livia Coleman from the favorite lady. Gaga stars born Melissa McCarthy, can you ever forgive him in a more serious turn not a not a comedic role. She's awesome. The best lady Gaga for that. I think it's upset Glenn Close as the heavy favorite. But I'm I'm pulling a lady Gaga upset as my pick feel like Glenn Close because she's been around. So long performance is great. And then maybe it's like her turn kind of thing. Maybe and, but they did it lady Gaga's gonna keep acting and have another shot seems far-fetched at this point. Right. So is leader thirty. So, but how come Bradley Cooper, gene, get a directing because he did for American sniper? So that's about those are the biggies right there. Yeah. Supporting actor and actress, Marcia Lee who is in green book, I bet you. He wins a second. You don't want to talk about making hairstyling best animated feature. Incredible to come on. I don't know about best editing. The spider verse hairstyling best song song about best picture. Or did. We did that already songs. Best. The song. Okay. What are your choices? I don't see all the stars Black Panther. I'll fight RV g the place where lost things go. Mary. Poppins returns. Shallow. A star is born when a cowboy change Spurs for wings, the ballot BUSTER Scruggs, and that's different from original score original scores of music throughout the movie right songs. Super Bowl 2019: Pregame coverage before Patriots vs. Rams

"The game, of course, is a big part of it. But also there are other sort of story lines beyond the the Rams and the patriots in a couple of them. There are interesting to me is I want to start Myron with with with gronk. He's kind of had a resurgence a little bit here in the playoffs starting to see a little bit of the gronk of bold wrestlemainia is the first Sunday in April. I'm of the belief that I'm going to see grog make his debut in the WWE it wrestlemainia and then his time in football. Is over. After today. Do you agree with that? And do you think that whatever happened today win or lose could have any effect either way? Well, I think that makes a lot of sense excuse me, especially because you're talking about a guy who can probably get millions of dollars on a pretty limited. Wrestling scheduled Cadillac around. Arousing Brock Leser, like it's not like the old days where he's going to have to wrestle three hundred days out of the year. This guy's going to get paid to show up on special events and make millions. He's talked so much about how much money he saved throughout his career. He's talked about not wanting to play too long. I don't know if today affects anything because he's a first ballot hall of Famer whether he wins or loses today, he's got a bunch of money in the Bank. And I think he could be the next rock in. In. I think he could be that. He's got a personality. You're not a wrestling guy. He's not the rock rock. Am wrestling. He could be that. Well, rock started out as what rocky my via. He was fighting from the family name. And then he emerged as his own way. I can't broadcast that personality in the WWE. We'll promote him. I think he could become a superstar who eventually goes in the movies and forgets football. All right. I I'm not going to argue with the wrestling part of it. But because you're wrong. But Dan, do you think this is it for I? Yeah, I do. But I do believe that tonight's result swings that okay? I can see if they lose tonight especially in close ballgame Brady convincing gronk for another year. Come back for another year. Don't forget is AO win the first round tackled. It's not part of this team. He'll be back. Like, we give me one more run. Gronk I can see that happening. Now, if they win I do believe that he calls it a career as he rightfully shit. Don't take don't. Remember, the comments he made this last week of him talking about the wear and tear, and how much it weighs on you. Mentally, and how hard it is to get hurt and have to practice, and how difficult it that difficult of a thing that is now to say that he's the next rock is absolutely outrageous. Like the row how first of all the rock is the rock was a guy that went into wrestling because that was the the the means to an end that was the vehicle. News and his family had been. He was going to you second of all the rock is incredibly business savvy and Hollywood savvy works like a dog like this is a guy. When it comes to football. Yes. When it comes to training for football. Yes. But he doesn't. I mean, the rock literally works like a dog. I need more talking about the rotten. Now. I saw the rock when he was in survivor series as rocky my via no one knew he wasn't good. And he was trying to figure out who he would be gronk could come in in the social media air, which rocketed the rock didn't come in in the social media era. All I'm saying is gronk could be a superstar in wrestling. Well, let me add gronk is only he's only twenty nine it feels like he's been around forever damnit. He's only twenty nine now he's taking a lot of hits bodies like a forty year old guy. But I guess what I'm saying is listen to countdown to kickoff on ESPN radio you've been through this process and Myron, and I haven't the process to decide you know, what that's it. Right. That's a hard process for every athlete. No matter the level, whether you're elite or not is it in part of it. I think is do I have something to go. Do do you think? I mean, we we talk about wrestling and a lot of people may roll their eyes. But it is something I know he can do if he wants whether it can be great or not he can do it is that talked to me about the process of saying I'm walking away. And and how how how players go through that mindset. Yeah. I mean for for me, you know, it was a great majority of it was I don't love the crap anymore. Doesn't it feel like he doesn't either? Yeah. I mean, that's that's no you're not gonna pay. Now granted if someone was going to pay me five million dollars. I would have dealt with it again, if someone's gonna pay gronk ten or twelve million dollars, maybe, but you get you deal with the crap. Like, so many people doing their job you do with that crap. Because you still love it. You love all the things that competition the locker room, the fellas the drive to be great the work, you love all that. And then once you don't love the dealing with the crap anymore that stuff doesn't matter anymore. It's not worth it anymore. And that's when you start facing the question of do I wanna do this anymore? And it makes it completely now. When I went through my transition, I wasn't for sure. Like, I was like all right. I want to get into analysts in broadcasting get into TV TV. And I was like I'm just gonna go rather than sitter sitting around. And wait. So I knew that there was at least the opportunity there for me. Gronk scan have way more. More than I had presented to him. But if you get to that point where you're done loving, the crap that you have to deal with and there are avenues for you to go. It makes it such an easier decision in move for you to go. You know what I'm done? Here's the next Chad having those options, I do think is is huge. You will have a lot of options. And you didn't know when you quit you're going to get to do a show with Matt Jones in my. But then sometimes I have earlier if I did exactly the Lord's blessing. There you are. So let's talk about the next to the players on the field. Maybe the person that has the most sort of its state today. Myron is your guy Tony Romo? I mean. I'm not sure an announcer has gotten this level of praise maybe ever like universal praise of people going Stephen Smith said is the best performance he'd ever seen from an announcer. And so the thing is that's awesome. Except you've got one more game. And I always of the opinion the most important two days in your life or the first in the last at a job. Well, the last impression he's gonna get from us is this game. Is there pressure on him to recreate the magic from two weeks ago? I think there's a ton of pressure on him to do that. And I think the problem is announcers like him who get this early praise. How many of them go down as being folks? And a lot of people don't like, you know, it's unfortunate because you start out liking guys like Tony Romo. He deserves all of this praise, but because you expect now people expect him to be some profit every game the minute. He shows any sort of flora weakness people are gonna jump onto that and start to criticize him. But I think he's facing more pressure than any announcer at a Super Bowl or any analysts had a Super Bowl that I can remember because people think he's like something we haven't seen before. And now he's going to have to deal with that pressure. Incomes care like most of the time. I'll be honest with you, Dan. I don't even know who the announcers are until I realized what network game is on. But with Romo I mean, there are prop bets on how many he's gonna call. Like, this is he is not the biggest story the game is. But you know, he's the second third or fourth. Biggest story. I think a big part of it too is like people are having a ton of fun listening to him. Torino because not only is he very good at what he does in. I've said this as a broadcaster networks you better have quarterbacks on there. Because you you've gotta be able to get people to understand the game different levels that communicated to all kinds of people. But it's the fact of he continuously telling educating people on the wise in house put it's fun. Like, you're having fun. Like John Madden was the last announcer. Who seemed like he was having as much fun as Romo, and it's it's okay. For him to talk over Jim Nance for a second. Because if you were sitting at a bar with your friends are in the living room having a beer with your friends. You talk over your buddy here in this moment. So it's not like this. You know in cookie cutter ish. Oh, we don't do that. Because it's television. But what happens if I'm saying is really good. Then I'm gonna do it. You know? And I think that there is that appreciation for for from people going like this is really good. And he's telling me stuff, that's really. Good. But also like the fact that there's really nobody else on TV sounding like him in ways. Like that like talking over Jim Nance, Jayme lake. It just seems like he's having a blast doing it. There are very few announcers who make the crossover into a personality that they matter Madden did mired. I'd say Barkley has vital. Did like there are many. And I think romo's headed groups, Dan Orlovsky will continue to be on. Would you agree with that? Yes. I think he is definitely in that group of guys where you go. You're now going to watch games because romo's attached to it doesn't matter the game because he's gonna make any game more interesting. Just because of who he is become he's become a part of the game now, and that's a good thing. Because like damn fed people. Like, I think I honestly think there are very few announcers that them just being there matters. I think John Madden. Did I think dick Vitale did Bill Walton? I think dick Vitale did. And I think I think Tony Romo is is sort of becoming like that who's going to win the game. After all this talk who actually is going to

All the important questions as Tiger Woods and Phil Mickelson go head to head in The Match

"He had a dinner with Tony Romo. And that was Tigers. Pro-am partnered Pebble Beach back in two thousand twelve and he went to dinner with Tony Romo just to bother. Tiger woods. So Phil said that you know, Tigers partner was Tony Romo and that night before the final round Saturday was big dinner. The Jim Nance put on I got seated next to Tony. We had a great night had a lot of fun. But I knew it would bother tiger that I had dinner with his partner. Tony knew this would also bother him. So he said, it was caddy do not mention that we had dinner last. Knight. Phil don't bring up the dinner. We're on the I t I IT off tiger tees off. I wait before I walk off because I want to distance myself between me and Tony. So I could say it loud enough. So as we're walking off the first TI yell out. Hey, Tony, Tony that was so much fun. Last night. I loved the dinner that was the greatest and tiger looks at him and said, you know, giving that look like that was a big deal Mickelson called her a moment that he laughs with tiger about now. But at the time, it was pretty intense. Mickelson ended up winning. But isn't that what we're all hoping for this weekend at the matches that one of them goes a little real in jab like UFA, like when I want a guy puts one in the weeds and just has a little Ouch. Just enough to. Okay, now, it's real, and it's a real competition because that's what ever wants. I hope we have some of that. Because tiger never let you in. It's rare when he let you in. But if he does then I'd love to hear the sense of humor, see the sense of humor or just to see a subtle dig their or the gamesmanship that goes on in what you would think they would be really wanting to say like if you had thought bubbles this time. You don't have thought bubbles. You just actually had their thoughts. That's what would be great Friday after thanksgiving.
