"This team. Still the two tackles. yeah and unfortunately. I don't know how much we really know. I mean. I think john williams and dylan oh quin have have separated themselves as the two best guys john williams williams the redshirt freshman at at left tackle. Dylan oh quinn. The redshirt sophomore. At right tackle they kind of you know separated themselves sometimes. It's so hard to tell how good they are. Though 'cause they're trying to block maget and me van every day and that is not an easy task so they're getting there I think both will be solid for this team. I don't think you're going to get you know. Nfl third rounder level. Play at left tackle like he did last year. But if you can get a guy that that steps in and is competent and gives you kind of an all conference level performance. I think you're you're in pretty good shape. I we'll do it again soon. Thank you as always tomorrow now. I'm just kidding. We'll see what we come up with three times tomorrow. You can do tony three times me three times. "We've a lot of guests in over the last week or so today. Just tony pike from paul brown stadium. Twenty till every hour three forty four forty five forty that leaves plenty of room for me more importantly it leaves plenty of room for you. The bullpen did not blow last night's reds game. It didn't but there is an issue. We'll get to that coming up in just about fifteen minutes and a fair question about nixon's zell as well. Plus tony from pbs. And we are going to search for the next great baseball movie Let's start with this though. Jessie bates and the bengals are apparently not going to get a contract. Extension done dot dot dot at this.

"Final final two. Months are extraordinarily encouraging. Yes because of the results but also because of the makeup of the club authoring that result at malaga is how you can hit me up on twitter. Your phone calls are ahead. Meanwhile joe borough bounce back on the field this weekend. I was more impressed by what he said off the field on saturday. You'll hear it. And i tell you what it means for week one next on. Espn fifteen thirty. Cincinnati sports station. You'll hear what. Joe burrows said this weekend. Not that you'd probably have already but thoughts of was job had to this weekend. He responded on the field coming up in just a couple of minutes. Tony pike one more time with the latest on the bengals. We'll talk about the depth chart came out today. Jackson carmen listed third on the job. Chart that i just called the jeb chart jumped on the depth chart listed at the third string right guard behind michael jordan and xavier feel. Oh pike's reaction to that coming up at five forty five. I i believe mikey last week. You said stick a fork in the reds. Should we take to fork out. We leave the fork n. okay Prior to that I'm well i'm good. What's up. good. You watch the hall of fame induction. Last night. I watched all of last night and most of saturday's and i thought the speeches particularly peyton manning's and a and calvin johnson's were particularly poignant. I agree and i also like the rather obscure figure in the whole process. Mr alec banica the offer guard from sealers. Who looked fantastic. I didn't even know it was the same guy now. He his speech was the last of the night last night. And i i don't want to. I want i had it on. And i watched and i certainly believe that. He is deserving into the hall of fame. I'm just not as interested in him. As i was some of the other guys but yes he looked good and delivered a nice speech. I know a lot of people like woodson speech. But every time i think woodson i think riley i get this off so we're on the same. Charles woodson is deserving but so is ken riley absolutely When when i come back into town september i extend an invitation to you to join me for around the gulf. Coldstream country club anderson. Wow how about that. Now you're gonna take us to play golf. I think it'd be fun. I i never mentioned. I'd love to meet you. And i'll it's my treat and i actually think it'd be fun. You know if we can work it out with your schedule his schedule and all that. But i i wanted to just put a bug in about well tony tony schedules about to get really busy here for a lot of reasons. So you know we'll have to work around him but yeah that would be that would be and by. Then maybe mike. You'll want to take the fork. Out of the reds. I this my whole count. I love the risk. But you know i moved away in one thousand nine hundred eighty s or got back on. I started listening to insulate. And i fell in love with the dog. I didn't even need to it. Just kinda happened. I get it. I get it and then i went to dodger stadium and then in the back of my mind. I'm thinking my god joe morgan. Johnny bench cut slipped my throat for for rooting for the dodgers. Fernando valance way was working year with magic johnson era. I just became enamored sports. It was hard not to. That's that's all well and good but i'm just. I'm hoping by the time you come back in town. You're willing to take the fork out of the reds. Which on thursday of last week you wanted to stick in them and just you know but right him off for the rest of the year. But i yeah i know. No one wants support to come out more than me. But here's what. Let me play. Devil's advocate please. If you won't sure yes okay. So it's nothing you don't already know for the listeners. But we're playing in the worst division in baseball for playing the weakest competition baseball for the majority of our wins. And that's great because that helps us gain ground on sandiego and milwaukee. Whoever but what worries. And i've i've said this before is when i don't i don't believe first of all. This is the worst division in baseball. What if the american league central because but the white sox made the a world sears team another the white sox are really good but the white sox have also the minnesota twins have been the biggest disappointment in the sport. this year. the kansas city royals were never going to be very good. The detroit tigers actually overachieved relative to some of the preseason expectations only five or six games under five hundred chicago. White sox have done a really good job this year beating up bad teams. We're not discrediting them. And the main the houston houston astros have taken advantage of the texas rangers and just beating the hell out of them this year. Nobody's discrediting the houston. Astros them by the way the national league east is also awful because you have three teams that are right now. Barely above five hundred. The mets have gone into total free. The phillies have played great. Since july first and they've won eight straight games. the atlanta braves still managed to remain somewhat relevant due to injuries. That division is not very good that divisions not very good. and you're going to have a bunch of teams at the top that are going to have their way with the nationals. And the miami marlins and in the in the national league west to colorado rockies blatantly aren't trying and the arizona diamondbacks worse than the pittsburgh pirates. Nobody's discrediting san francisco l. A. or the padres for beating up on bad teams in that division. So why should we do that with the reds. You do have a point but now checking up. That's true to point but still the top three teams. Indiana west are are inex- just extremely tough and clean each other tough and disregard the you can almost disregard the last two teams out of both all these new divisions you're talking about but i'll be really interested to see how the reds do when they 'cause i'm looking at team defense. I'm looking at these different things stolen bases and all these things that may or may not make a difference when it comes down to a big game and i'm looking at this phillies Braids lineup on the road for the reds And i we keep saying it seems like in perpetuity. We keep saying this next series is the most important been saying that. Since may i guess or something but but but these two series coming up on the road against two decent pretty decent teams teams that are probably equally close with the reds in in in some ways. And we'll see how they do. And i hope that phillies team. They play this weekend. Offensively has been unbelievable over the last five or six weeks from the year that bryce harper is having very very quietly up and down that lineup from the impact of jeans on that team. This year reese. Hoskins is having a very good season. Jt real muto's having a very good. I mean they. They got that that is offensively. That team has been very very good recently. So but the i look we get it. They played well against a couple of bad teams. But that's what you're supposed to do and then it lessens the the need to absolutely clean up against the better teams on your schedule. And the good news is the reds do have more teams on their schedule. Who are bad compared to the ones that are at least pretty decent. Yeah thank god the only and so and so. Maybe we got a shot at the playoffs. Maybe we do what. What what i keep looking at and i keep checking the team pitching shots every day and it's just the same. It's just a dodgers the padres the giants the dodgers the padres the giants and dodgers and milwaukee in that mix and. I just think that in a one game playoff. I mean 'cause you look at the dodgers. Jesus christ clayton kershaw match sure Walker bueller and and who else am i And david price. You mentioned clayton kershaw. Who's not gonna pitch until september now so and let's let's face it the team that they would be the reds. If they were to play the los angeles dodgers would be significant underdogs. But give me that.

"Moves dacas and whatever. Your shortstop is an india is a part time player. But he playing tonight against against the indians. The bengals are not practicing today. But that doesn't mean we don't do live training camp reports tony pike alaska for his thoughts on the depth chart. We'll talk a little bit later. On about joe borough and the things he said over the weekend coming up at four forty but first depth chart issues and what might lie ahead for the bengals this week as they get set for the buccaneers on saturday. Night coming up next on. Espn fifteen thirty. Cincinnati sports station. This is the training camp report brought to you by kimba credit union on. Espn fifteen thirty bengals. Not working out this afternoon. They're back at it tomorrow. They will play the tampa. Bay buccaneers in tampa on saturday. Night game you'll hear live on. Espn fifteen thirty nonetheless. We do have live training camp reports tony. Pike single our every day this week including right. now let's Let's start with the depth chart. Today's act taylor's first. Depth chart of the pre season came out a lot of focus on the offensive line. What stood out to you jackson. Carmen that starts string right now. What the the guard position and the guy ahead of him. Dion smith Being more he's at this is a situation. We've kind of talked about training camp. No of jackson carmen started with the threes and all of a sudden jackson. Carmen is With the ones last week and now the first depth chart comes out and he's threes again. So i feel like they gave him a very fair chance last week and whether they didn't like what they see they saw more the anti smith that to me is interesting going forward because it was a second round draft. Pick a second round draft. Pick on a guy that guy's expected to be a main player on your roster and if we're drafting jackson carmen third-string guy. You have to wonder. Okay what went wrong and that process because if you remember that was the draft picks that the bengals it home and all that this guy we got the guy that we wanted the guy we circle. Well i first depth chart out. He's sitting at third string. You have to wonder what that looks like. It does make me feel perhaps a little bit better though about michael jordan you would. You would certainly think so. I mean michael jordan last year Was a struggle all season and he owned that and he talked about that throughout the off season. Especially about the joe borough injury that he wanted to atone for that that he wanted to be better in to this point. Michael jordan has earned himself a spot as a starting offense lineman for this bengals team Whether you want to take that as the death that guard you wanna take that. What michael jordan has done to improve itself. That to me is statement to michael. Jordan has improved in a way that you would hope that guy improves. Let's face it a young player that was thrust into a position where he didn't succeed. I at his first opportunity. Lotta guys can go south from that and to this point michael jordan has has come back a better player. So there's what's michael jordan has done. There's also a jackson. Carmen hasn't done. This is a pretty definitive statement from zack. Taylor about how they feel about the way he's performed. You've been at nearly every training camp practice. What have you seen from jackson carmen. Oh this is a guy that that i thought looked out of shape coming into camp. And that's my assessment. That's what i thought. But when you sell him out there with the threes to start that kind of resonated because frank pollack has been a guy in the past that his throne rookies in there from the get go to start and again jackson. Carmen was drafted to start on this offensive line and seen him with the threes on on day. One was a little shocking. But then it's like okay. All last week he got reps with the one. So you're thinking okay. I don't know how the grading process goes but they've thrown jackson karma back in there and now to see this today when we are now game league right. This is preseason game number one. This saturday see jackson carmen with the threes. I think sends a message that he is not where this team projected him to be or working needs to be at this point of the training camp season. The bengals look. They made a pretty. I don't want to say controversial but they did something that a lot of people took was pretty bold decision right. They took march as over nasal. I believe there are. nfl teams. That would have said well. Look we drafted this guy to play on the offensive line and we slid back to do it and we didn't take the guy that a lot of people said we should take and so what we're going to do shoehorn men and even if they're not ready we're gonna put them at the top of the depth chart because we don't we're not going to like how it looks if we don't take a soul and instead the guy we do take is a three at least in the first deb charter here. I'll at least give them a measure of credit for not doing that. Well it picks the credibility up in a big way and it says that what we thought about winning is important early. there's no more developmental stages for this bengals team. This is again. We've talked about it before. Six out of the eight games on paper should be winnable or could be winnable so you don't have the time now to sit. Okay we're gonna. We're gonna throw jackson carmen out there. We're gonna take our lumps and see what happens. They took him with the second round pick. They spoke highly of him after taking him. And i talked comes out and he started. I think that speaks volumes of the urgency. That this bengals team especially on the offensive side of the ball has taken through this point or training in the middle there at that position by the way this is the most i've ever talked about the the deb charter guard but in the middle there is xavier. Sue a fellow who's gonna make out three point one three point two million bucks this year. He is not listed as a starter. I kind of find it hard to believe from a financial standpoint. If he being backed up did they're going to keep him around at the kind of money he's supposed to make. I don't know that you can at this point. You obviously have jackson carmen there. They liked enough of what they saw in clinton spain to bring him back on a one year deal. They've drafted jackson carmen to slide him over to guard. Xavier suicide fellow kind of feels like the odd man out at this point and again. He's a guy early on in camp was given. I t wraps it's not like you came into camp and you just buried on buried him on the depth chart and now you're going to move on from now. They they had him with the wants and fellow in the one on one sessions did not do enough to inspire enough confidence to say okay. He's our guy going forward so now he's back buried on the depth chart and and like you said no. You wonder with the money that he's required how he fits into this going forward. We'll talk about the the weekend. That joe borough had both on the field and at the podium coming up at four forty looking forward to atone. Thanks so much smoke tony. Pike not from paul brown stadium. Today this has been the training camp report on fifteen thirty. The official home. The being to you and say the tony. Pike is standing there. Paul brown stadium. Even though the bengals are practice i could do that. I i'm not he. He did the the show today since he three sixty from the jordan coordinate golf classic so and which was a really good show and maybe tony snaking and nine holes. I have no idea. But he's not a paul brown stadium. He will be there tomorrow with live. Observations as the bengals go through The first practice of game wig. That is from three to five tomorrow tony. We'll have updates on pbs at three forty four forty five forty bengals and buccaneers. On a saturday night. You will hear the game live on the official home of the bengals. Espn fifteen thirty first of three preseason games and the really gonna kinda come quick right. You have a game on saturday. Then one a week from friday and the third preseason game will be on The twenty ninth sunday afternoons. Last time the bengals had a sunday afternoon home. Preseason game they had one on the road. I wanna say against washington. Maybe two thousand seventeen home. Preseason game on a sunday afternoon. Rarity saturday night's game kicks off at seven thirty. Our pregame coverage starts at three pm. Meanwhile tony pike will be paul brown stadium. Tomorrow i went to camp higher ground today. Thought does ritter had a really good day. There's something about that atmosphere and environment. That i love had a chance to spend a few minutes. Talking with luke fickle. We'll have that for you. Coming up at four zero five a lot. More on the reds. We gotta spend more.

"On. Espn fifteen thirty. Cincinnati sport station paul brown stadium and just about what six seven minutes Tony pike training camp rolls on. Let's see a couple of things. Sports updates and service of kelsey chevrolet homa lifetime powertrain protection and guaranteed credit approval. Found their family to yours for life. Kelsey shop dot com reds are off tonight twins here tomorrow. I two six game homestand. Cincinnati will take on to play to against minnesota and then four count them four with the pittsburgh pirates by the pirates hooking up with the milwaukee brewers. I just saw this in that. I i clicked on the tweet and my computer did stuff that it shouldn't do josh hater. The all star closer for the milwaukee brewers apparently going on essentially the covert list. So he'll be unavailable for them now. That's not something that i would say is good. It would perhaps put the brewers at a slight disadvantage until you realize they're playing a pirates team that is going to be lucky to even be in the game in the ninth inning so nonetheless take that and do what you want with joey votto national league player of the week. It is the sixth career and player of the week award. He most recently one in two thousand eighteen second reds winner this year. George springer if you care name the american league player of the week. Oh but we're not no no see that's your thing that's pretty good. That's not bad. That's a hell of an honor. I guess what he's also been in the national league player the month first time in his career. Jonathan indian named the national league rookie of the month first time in his career. As well about that about that. The bengals today got some good news. Defensive end camp samples passed his physical. He has been cleared to practice. He'd been placed on the publicist when camp began by the way the clemson is now shooting down this rumor that they've reached out to the which was reported by a guy that i know pretty well named mark ryan who has worked in sports talk radio a number of different cities most recent fact. He's he's in south carolina right now. he Put on twitter today that he is heard that clemson and florida state of both reached out to the sec. About potential How true that is. I do not know but nonetheless clemson and say that's effectively hogwash. A couple of olympic highlights. Oh on top of that in the nfl carson wentz carson wentz his having foot surgery right now so the colts could be scrambling to replace him. They say is gonna miss five twelve weeks chances. Are you know if you care. Us women's national soccer team loss to canada. One zip play thursday for the bronze against australia. The us baseball team lost in japan. Seven six blowing a lead. Lots of reds bullpen jokes blowing a lead. They fall seven six. They obviously still can win a gold medal. They now moved to the loser's bracket and tonight the us men's olympic basketball team will take on spain. That game will start right around. Twelve forty Win that game advances to the to the semi. I watch more olympics. This weekend than i thought i would do. Greg invite tonight. We know what time that is ten thirty tonight. all right. find out for me what outlet. That's on because they're on. Nbc usa the olympic channel nbc sports network. And if you subscribe to peacock you can watch them on on peacock. So there you go. Best of luck to him Your phone calls are head more on giovanna more on this recent run the reds have gone on thirty four and twenty to the rest of the way to to get to ninety wins but first we gotta go back to paul brown stadium. And i'm gonna stay on time today. Tony pike joins us from bengals training camp next. This is the training camp report brought to you by papa. John's cincinnati on espn fifteen. Thirty man. tony. Pike is at paul brown stadium. Bengals conducting another training camp practice. Today tony has been there all afternoon. How you doing. What's going on now. Well you tell me is practiced wound down for their. They done yet. What's going on with field goal. Extra points here but I can. I can honestly say one of the top three worst offensive practices. I've seen since during these camp reports. Now that goes back to two thousand seventeen or eighteen. So that's why was it so bad. Just offense could do absolutely nothing from a production standpoint out. All today joe borough was picked off by germain pratt and the last Group of eleven on eleven. He should have been picked off to other times. There were multiple stock. That again are making what you want out of them. When there's no pads on out here but From a standpoint of zero zero lanes for running backs to run through joe borough with one of his worst practices since we've seen him in the cincinnati bengals uniform and you add all those things together with a couple of snaps that were on the ground Jomar chase fumbled after. He caught a pass Jock was patrick. Fumbled after catching a pass. It was just floppy and bad football around from an offense that's supposed to be explosive this season and now you're getting into week number two of camp. You want some of those things to start clearing up a little bit now. I mean there's some are going to hear that ago uh-huh time to panic. The offense is going to be very good. this is bad. i. I'm a glass half full type person so i'm hearing you talk and i'm going. Yeah the defense is gonna be darned. Well look this is a day. Trae wayne didn't practice and without the pads the rules that are in place by the nfl. Don't let you come up and play bump and run. They don't let you get real physical until you get full pads on and for the most part with no trae wayne's eli apple. I thought flashed as one of the better performers from today. Dhamar chase could not get away from eli apple to. Nobody had multiple good plays on the defensive side of the ball secondary. I thought flashed in same hubbard the backfield costume havoc the The defense looked fast today and it was a struggle for for branka receivers to to get any separation on a day that the style of practice should favor them being able to get open. But now the most important part though. What about the kitchen competition. Well you know. This has been a huge competition. All year Mcpherson i think has the edge But this was this was made up to be some kind of kicking is. They're going to be a battle. We can't have another. Jake elliott situation. You drafted the guy in the fifth round. The only reason awesome cyber should be kicking to rest mcpherson's lack so you're calling it right now. You're not gonna lawless fester. We're not going to get to cut down day. We're not going to have some sort of like simmering you know just a nervous tension in the air as cut down day looms. We're just we're going to call it now. It should be mcpherson and cyber should go home. I'm making it official. Did you go into the tent. And grabs him snares outside of the offense performance today that was probably the second most disappointing thing the security around here. Even though there was no one in the family tent from the time we got off our last call until now bill was not able to get in there and even snag a drink or a bag of doritos is just it. It's a new world down here. Well the restrictions the wrist bands. It is not the best day of because you have to wear a wristband that the wristbands the hard part. "Books are sold fascinating story of a great female tennis player who was then recruited and served as an espionage agent during world war two with a lot of maybes and what happened to her incredible life story in there What a detective excel fascinating story. I was really good to be able to tell it and yes you can get in paperback starting next week. All right and follow rob on twitter at rob wine w. e. n. I hope to do it during the season man. Thank you as always anytime. Oh you know that. Football outsiders annual almanac available now Football outsiders dot com. We are way late. We will go to paul brown stadium. Tony pike from training camp joins us next. This is the training camp report brought to you by kimba credit union on. Espn fifteen thirty tony. Pike joins us once an hour from paul brown stadium. Even on days. Banks aren't practicing. They are practicing right now. Tony is there what's going on. Well i guess we're gonna call this practice. Today we're gonna use that word loosely. We are on period seven of eleven seven of eleven periods today and we were just now getting to the first team sessions of the day. The offense has been on. One field of defense has been on another for the previous fixed periods throughout the day. I can't say tyler boy just made a nice Nice diving catch over the middle of the The first team period other than that a lot of individual work and flight walked through going on today. Which shouldn't be a surprise. Considering yesterday's activities of the first few days are basically pre training camp practices right. So we're sort of ramping up into into the weekend into early next week. Which is interesting because the one major thing that you can focus on with this team. It'd be one on one battles right offensive line defensive line wide receiver db were yet to see any of those through a practice and a half. I'm assuming we won't see any today. Maybe when they start to put the shoulder pads on but from a position battle standpoint. That's kind of what would say now. You would think for the first two days of training camp that we haven't seen is. Has anybody come. Close to even breathing.

"I don't want to be told sorry we can't do anything. I want to see the reds front office and ownership take the team in a specific direction but the impatience of the fan base is a factor here if the reds were able to cash equity based on a lot of recent success. Would you be as emphatic that this team needs to make a move at the deadline as i believe most reds fans are my phone numbers. Five one three seven four nine fifteen thirty brennaman and jones on baseball's coming up at eight minutes but first a look at camp battles on defense with our guy. Tony pike next. This is the training camp reports. Brought to you by papa. John cincinnati on espn fifteen thirty. Could hammer some papa. John's right now. Brian and john's on baseball here. In just a second but first tony pike. This here training camp starts tomorrow. I ask you about Camp battles on the offensive side of the ball. Just just give me one that you're going to be paying attention to on defense well. I think it's very simple to different positions that were addressed heavily by this team. Be free agency or the draft the defensive line which couldn't get after the passer last year. Josefa cy was drafted and has received great reviews great minicamp grow. Ta's how much does he get behind trey hendrickson. And of course. Sam hubbard who just signed a four year deal. Can they get after the passer and can they stop the pass..

Actually i won't be here tomorrow because i haven't taken enough days off one more for me. I another thing which to me is just sort of a secondary issue. The main issue is red's blue a game that they should have one and needed to win and didn't because the bad relief pitching has shrunk in the margin for error. Where now they've got to get big hits every single time to get guys on base and they've got to get a good start every game. Neither of those things happened last night but okay. Let's do the heavier bias thing Driver problems what he did. No no no not really no no. I don't have no issue with what he did. I i will stay consistent with how i've always felt about such things. I have no issue with guys screaming at each other talking trash to each other showing each other up. I have no issue with these guys yelling. Vile things at one another like it or not. I think some of these things are a byproduct of a very heated sporting event in a very heated environment problem at all. I don't think you're by a slam down as bad. He didn't hit anybody he didn't throw it at anybody. This wasn't going out there which is a really cool..

"I'm with you to me. That really is one of the more position but one of the more interesting position groups on the entire team. It starts with joe. We know he's going to make the team we know he's going to be at the top of the depth chart. There's lots of questions about how productive he's going to be once. The season starts but how the dominos fall behind him is is really going to be compelling to watch do you do. We know what p rhines ceiling is at this point. Is chris evans. A higher ceiling guy is trivial williams at the end of camp the odd man looking out and then there's puka williams the undrafted running back who's received rave reviews although he starting camp on the the illness list he's received rave reviews the guy that can help on special teams right away and be a difference maker so i think those those running back position slots that have not been filled. We don't know the depth yet behind. Joe mixing is going to be very interesting things. Play out i'm a. I'm a little surprised tony that you didn't bring up the battle for the other quarterback who's not joe borough or brandon allen. You gave me nothing on kyle shurmur or eric dungeon. I'm really gonna wait until i can get down into the nuts and bolts of camp to see those guys in person before i give my evaluations. This had been the training camp report on. Espn the official home of the bengals. Thank you tony. Back with more coming up at four forty tony pike is. Just come tony pike tony. Pike will paul brown stadium every day of bengals training camp. "Camp report brought to you by kimba credit union on espn. Just i just wanna make sure that everybody is aware of what's happening here. Training camp hasn't started and yet we're doing training camp reports. That's how excited we are for the season. That's how committed we are to Comprehensive and thorough coverage of bengals training. Camp tony pike will be bengals training camp every day when an actually begins. But it hasn't so he's he's here with me to talk once per hour about the bengals. This is not an insignificant day. We'll talk about sam hubbard in a little bit. He gets his contract extension but the big news of the day. Very very welcome news. Zack taylor says joe borough was cleared for everything and i think this story would have been bigger. Had we not seen what we saw from. Joe borough and not as right. It was making passes on the run. He was participating in awe practice. He was out there. So i think when you saw that it was like okay. Barring a major setback in the upcoming weeks joe boroughs going to be ready. But to hear the no restriction comment around. Joe borough zack. Taylor have been goes far. Saying we're not gonna to overprotect him certainly makes you think that when things get underway wednesday. You're going to see a lot from joe borough in regards to one on ones seven on sevens team. Run all of that stuff that you would expect. You're starting quarterback to be from day one for this team. What would you do with the preseason games. The first one is august the fourteenth. There's only three this year. Would you play. Joe borough at all during preseason. Would you hold them out. No matter what or would you let him choose. I would let him choose from mentality standpoint. Because let's not get twisted. There won't be a camp that i'm calling you reporting you from this this year. Insane man joe borough just took a hit and so if so number the line in a.

"This is espn fifteen thirty. Thank you for listening hope. You're having a marvelous tuesday Work cited reds are back home tonight. I three against the brewers. Dare i say a big series in june We have today. cincinnati internet villain. It's espn's buster. Only he has emerged as today's cincinnati internet villain. Everybody gets their turn. Everybody gets their term. And i think to a degree. We reached a little bit of a new low yesterday. But i paul dana junior is here. He covers the bengals for the athletic he was had. Ot as day one of the last week of ota's today that's correct Paul brown stadium. He podcast with j. Morrison here that podcast growl and j drew the short straw and had to do the story about kicking battle. That's on camp. I guess nonetheless you could follow paul on twitter. I paul dana. Junior read his work in the athletic. What is going on. I saw evan. Mcpherson missed two field goals today. Is there a reason to be concerned. Will know people want to update on the kicking rattles very intense. So many out of how many tries. I don't know how many there actually worked total. Yeah but how far one one was. No one was pretty ugly then. The other one just barely missed. I know raking what about. I don't think they were doing anything. They are just doing around a field goals at the end they do. A little round field goes to the beach. Practice field goal kickoffs. I think they might have just been firing those out of the jugs machine. I don't know that they were gonna have a guy totally ill-prepared to kick off what. I'm sure they're doing them and feel great. Great nice pick. I wait okay. We're told draining camp. Oh every single day every every every day can i just call in with with like field goal. Updates in fact that's what we're gonna do. "Carl Lawson with the fourth round pick in an effort to replace his production, they take eggs, guys and round 34 and seven Yeah, and the Bangles. Um, certainly not not the team that always burns it up in free agency. That's more like New England. New England drafts and it's they just go out how well that will get him in free agency. The Bangles the opposite of that, for for a whole bunch of reasons. On D I think out of that to Cameron sample from two lane. He's just like the guy was like, Well, you know, he's a project. We'll see how it pans out. And which is kind of weird around four, right? I mean, that's the vibe I got was like, Well, maybe a year, Maybe two will see. Um we can work with this guy and get more needs to be. Yeah. Look, we've we've We've seen the Bangles address the edge with project guys in early around Margus Hunt. And with markets and Cincinnati. It never really worked out. If you're going to take a project I on the edge, I'd thought whether do it with the 111th pick. Then, you know, picking early in round two, which is what they did with what they did with Marcus Hunt. Yeah, There's look, you're talking about a 62 kids you're talking about. Who got a lot of FTS level of attention and then ended up getting a gig at an FBI school into lane. First team All 80 80 guys 7.5 sacks. He got better every single year. Big back. Um, they don't talk about his explosiveness. They don't talk about his speed. But the production and in a truncated season was there and again. Um, you know, in the middle rounds, you're not always looking for guys who are gonna make an instant impact. But there is a lot of upside and again. It's certainly addresses a position of me. But I think you also look at it is. Hey, You know what? We had some capital Bern here Because, remember the second round they traded down with the England They got Jackson Carmen who They're going to get any way eight picks before that. They get a couple of extra fourth rounders. So you come in and you get all right. We'll get him. But we know just a few pics later. Like what? 10 picks late. 11 picks later. You know how much of a different sort of be the 10th 11 picks in the fourth round. So, uh, s so you know, they're coming to get what? Tyler Shevlin on. Ls you This guy is a He's a beast, right? This is basically a bowling ball with legs. 350 something pounds right over £350 monkey, broad shoulders, wide hip sickness all over the place. Couple of things. Number one. This was regarded as a very shallow class. Some interior defensive lineman number two people talk about lack of discipline and his conditioning being a little bit of an issue. Um, one NFL scouts said quote he could be Vince will fork. If he was motivated to be so, All right. You know you're you're you're question Mark type guys typically fall to Saturday. He doesn't have a ton of experience mentioned. He opted out. Last year. He was only a one year starter, but Um, the size is what you're looking for first, and you talked about it. This is a guy teach that wound close to £390. So conditioning can be a little bit of an issue. But you cannot quarrel with the size and you know again. What I wonder is in a different year with the deeper class of interior defensive lineman. Where is he? Where is Tyler Sheldon? But You're certainly attracted by the socks, right? Well, don't just just don't eat yourself out of the NFL like Tony Pike did that's all. Don't eat yourself out of the NFL like Tony piped it, Thomas Shoveling. Just calm down. Hit the gym, Father coaches, Father nutritionist, Do what you need to do and let it take care of itself because you can't teach £350 Man mountains. Um, also so the third pick in the fourth round Deante Smith. I don't know much about this guy, uh, seems like another project for Frank Polich. Yeah, suffered an injury after just one game this past season at CCU, but it had a lot of experience started. Every game in 2019 started every game the previous year, handle the left tackle spot, and they want a pro style stock on offense. Um, where the thing is, they had that issue you three different offensive line coaches during his five years and still Developed at a pretty nice base, and he was great at the Senior Bowl after missing basically his entire year. He's a former high school wrestler, and he credits he credits being a high school wrestler with really allowing him to unlock your skills. You know, again Project has to sharpen his technique, but a lot of upside 5 £305 good, multiple fame. Um and, you know, look They needed offense, The Rheiman they took two with their first with their first six picks, and and a guy here with a lot of experience, Frankly, maybe not as good as finacial, but more experiences a starter in college football and an honorable mention All Conference guy in 2019 0 is here from ESPN. 15 30 here in the afternoon. Three o'clock through a six today. And I were talking about the Bengals draft. Obviously here to. In retrospect, it was a pretty good one. Bye bye. All measurements all metrics, and most analysts agree. The Bengals did pretty good this year. I think it's interesting that in the fifth round, they take the only kicker that that went. And that has happened. MacPherson out of Florida who has a monster legged monster accuracy. He's Mr all sec. I think a record for career field goal percentage. I think, as we set the record for the SEC On dicks over 50 yards. You know, it's always interesting to me about how kick Well, you know, kickers are a dime a dozen get to skill players in there, too, But, yeah, I don't know. There's just there's also the gamble to write is mentally. It's a more of a mental game. And look at Randy Bullock, right. It thinks are today wobbling in your head a little bit. You got problems, not the physical aspect. It's the mental aspect and rising to the pressure because it's all on you at that moment, but man You get a kicker like well, like Pittsburgh has, like Baltimore has. It's a whole different. It's literally a whole different game because you're talking about three points. And if you don't move the football well, like the Bengals haven't recently. Now a kicker becomes even more important. Get some points on the board. It's very important. You mentioned Baltimore with Justin Tucker. It's such a great weapon to have. When you have a guy who can take possessions that for other teams would end in the punch, and they could end with You getting three points and let's be honest here. If the Bengals were gonna have a winning season, and that's the goal, they're gonna have to win games decided by clothes money, which is not something they've done well. Uh, under Zach Taylor. And, you know? Yeah. They replaced Randy Bullock with Austin Cyber. It always felt like Excuse me..

Randy Bullock Justin Tucker Zach Taylor Thomas Shoveling Tyler Shevlin Frank Polich Tony Pike Carl Lawson Tyler Sheldon Tony Deante Smith Pittsburgh 2019 10 picks Margus Hunt Baltimore Marcus Hunt MacPherson eight picks Last year

"We're not discouraged. But instead feel motivated and confident next year will reap the benefits of the work that has been done to date. Must capitalize on the opportunity. Mike Brown. Now you could look this ago. Okay to see just serve another year. That's completely up to Mr Brown. You look the Cleveland Browns and the Freddie Kitchens experiment. It looks like it looks like they had the right players. With wrong head coach and Freddie Kitchens put a new guy in their in their playoff team. So there's a fine line there between playoffs, not playoffs, right, although when you only went for games your your way on the outside looking in for a long time there, So the Bengals do what they do. And they move it glacial speech. They're not going to take a cue from the rest of the league. The pressure that exists in New York for the Jets does not exist in Cincinnati, Ohio, because largely, I think the Cincinnati, Ohio sports media sports journalists Pretty easy bunch. You know, No one compares to two New York Boston Philly that those air tough, tough places for a head coach for a player. Cincinnati, Ohio, Not so much not so much you do get a pass here. There's no doubt about it. So we'll see. What if it is an aberration? If it's injuries, which a lot of team have, I mean, Hell, look at the Pittsburgh Steelers. And yet they found almost so if they're in the playoffs, obviously, but Not a good playoff team, but still in And a lot of teams have faced diversity. Unlike so it's not exclusive, saying we had some injuries. Yeah, well, A lot of teams have had injuries. Alex Smith returned Finally, after he shouldn't even be a walking. Lot of people said he shouldn't have a leg he played last night for the Washington football team. Look pretty good, right? Alex Smith. The leg that miraculously through faith, perseverance, and certainly, science allows them not only to walk again but playing the National Football League. Somehow they find a way to do it without their quarterback. Anyway, We'll talk about this with Tony Pike coming up it at 10 06 this morning on the Scots alone show and what the future looks like the Bangles and, of course, the bear cats. Um, not not looking good at all The Peach Bowl. Well, look good for three quarters. Let's put it that way. So that's on the way at the tennis six today on 700 wlw back to a little bit with the tip was talking about in three things this morning is gonna have her back and I love when we go head to head on stuff to the Greta tune Berg thing. Where Jesus I know I get it. She's she loves gratitude, Berg and what she is, and that is telling people what she thinks. And I have no problem with that, because I'm an opinion is, too And you know the idea that somehow I would like her because she's a kid or that she's a female. I mean, that's just stupid. I really haven't. I guess my opinion of her is It seems like she's being used and manipulated at a young age, and she also seems to not see that it's a very complex issue. Just well, you know, when you get up and tell people basically stf, you In front of the U. N and say, you know, you're scaring the next generation of kids. I'd say You know what kid kids have always gotten the short end of the stick? We don't run the world based on we'd like to think we do. But we don't base run the world. We don't run countries and the like, and economies based on the Children. We'd like to talk about post about the Children. What about future generations? We've gotta do something very kids. Guess what It sounds good, but we really don't do things based on the best interest rate kids. How's their educational system? Not very good. Is that in the best interest of kids? No. It's in the best interest of everything from bureaucrats to teachers, unions to lobby groups and everything else. Not really In the best interest of our Children. All the stuff we do is now it's the best dancers with me and you because we're the ones who pay the taxes and we're paying the freight. We're the ones who go vote so kids really don't have to say we like to think the kids are more evolved and they were. Ah, 100 or 200 years ago. Yeah, a lot of ways. Sure, you know, childhood labor and labor laws, education. All those things we don't have as many kids anymore and send And so we have fewer kids, and therefore we trying to tend to treat him like snowflakes. Right? His precious cargo back in the days. Yeah, well, my wife spent out 20 kids. Yeah, we lost a couple of long way. All that happens. Now you have 12 kids. Oh, my God. Your world sent around every every moment. Every time they go to the bathroom on there When you take a picture and post it on the refrigerator. It's just the way it is. Things have changed. Some say for the better, most people say for the better. I think so, too. Some people say that the way it used to be, and it's never gonna be the way it used to be. My point is this That, Okay, Kids have a have a voice now And here is gratitude. Berg talking about the environment Great. But the big picture, though, is it's not the world's and build on the future generations build on the here and now. And I don't think she had her age recognizes that that she wants all these things to go away so we can save the planet, which is also debatable thing are we certainly facing in a environmental crisis. There's no question about it. There's no doubt about it now. You may think that that's not the case. But it is. These things do move it glacial speeds and yes, that you wanna talk about the global warming and everything else. Sure. Okay, that that's a valid consideration. But how do you undo world economies?.
