"While we're on the eve of Memorial Day, and there's so much taking place even after this pandemic. Others, actually, uh, spend some time with family. Going to picnics. Some even watch movies where the movies that I remember watching it. The kid of was the movie Ferris Bueller is day off. And in Federer's Bueller's Day off, he talks about a pro man, the sausage king of Detroit. And, uh, one of things that He mentions this ever mention a promo and the sausage King of Detroit and Chicago, actually, and now we have a pleasure of having our very own sausage King of Detroit, Tony Peters, and the reason why I brought Tony Peters on is because of the fact that we're seeing tremendous costs. Meat prices and sausage prices in pork prices and in chicken prices. And especially as we go into the oil day weekend, and people have those barbecues and time with family, they'd like to know that their dollars still Has some value and one of the things that we're starting to see If you look at the debt clock today were a $20 trillion in spending. And the U. S. GDP is little 22.2 drunk guys, So we sing inflation or we think supply chain problems or what are we seeing? So I reached out to Tony Peters, the owner of Detroit Sausage, and he's on with us this morning, Tony. Why are we seeing such tremendous problems their supply chain with meat, chicken and pork. Well, Rocky, I'll tell you Nice to talk to you, by the way. Um, there's a lot of factors involved. You know, it's not just one single thing. Obviously, the pandemic being the lead problem, um, the inability to hire and keep employees. Is going to be the main problem in the end. But if you want to take a single product out there and talk about it for a second will talk about chicken. Now, Chicken America's definitely running low on chicken. Most restaurants are having a hard time getting any chicken wings if they can even get them on, but also all other cuts of chicken chicken tenders. The biggest drive in chicken, believe it or not has been the chicken war between Popeye's and Chick fil A. And now McDonald's and KFC have entered this what they call the industry's calling the Chicken War and the chicken sandwich during the cove. It You know, it's easy to go buy it. Zee carry out food. Anybody can make it. You know it Z quick, It's easy and taste good. That's healthy. Pretty much healthy. Um, so this war has started and it's brought down are you know the demand gone up? Well now production is going down. You've got Golden pandemic. You know that hit all the essential places because there's a lot of workers and they're working close together. I mean, there's nothing you could do about it. And then you've got this thing. Chicken. We're going out. So you know, I you were also specializing in sausage and pork. Are we seeing the same type of problems in the sausage in pork industry? Exact same thing. You know, I mean sausage. What do you cook? When you go home Rock the normal American, You know, they make they make hot dogs. You know, they've been staying home during the pandemic, and there's a big run on hot dogs. Um, sausages, Italian sausage. It's easy to cook. You know, it's a quick meal. Um, and that's the same thing you know, and the biggest problem is no employees. We can't get any employees. And so there's a it. It's strictly and I apologize. I was having some difficulties earlier at the beginning of the show with my hearing, but I hope you don't mind. I'm gonna relay the question is is so Is it just the employee shortage or is it also inflationary probe pressures and potentially a supply chain problem? Yes. The other practice include increased competition. Volatile feed prices, and one of the biggest causes for for chicken was a severe winter, which swept through the south in February, and it stopped the work of whatever chicken processing we had going. And then you take enough the hogs. If you're talking to talk about pork, it's uh you know, we had a lot of people don't know this, but there's a there's a severe swine flu in the hogs that hit us and like March March in April, and that that you know doesn't hurt humans at all. But it devastated the, uh the hogs causing causing vetted, You know, T come to really bring the prices up high. So I can tell you interesting story. My my wife and I went to Costco one Saturday and we were walking through the aisles, buying food and we came across this package of Hebrew national hot dogs that were kind of looked like it was thrown together in and packaged up super quick and thrown into the freezer there, and we bought him. They were fantastic because I remember Hebrew national at the Ballpark. Uh, I like your stadium. He at Comerica Park and and Are they sending them to the big box stores because it's easier to sell through the big box stores because they're losing. When the shutdowns were affecting the restaurants, they were basically losing that business. That's a great question, Rocky. That's exactly what happened. Even with us at Detroit sausage, we do not do retail. Unfortunately, food service we packaged for for some supermarkets during that time. I mean, we couldn't do a lot because we're not set up for that. But that's exactly what everybody that was food service based had to do to survive. And and also the retailer. They needed product. They could only buy so much product and s O. A lot of that happened. What you saw. I saw exactly what you're talking about. It was kind of haphazardly looking package, right? Yeah, Absolutely. It wasn't a professional package at all. Yeah, I thought that way were debating if we should buy it or not all that stuff. Excuse me is gonna be, you know, fine because we're all USDA inspected. There's so much inspection in our industry. You don't ever have to worry about that, Um Now you know, the covert hit us hit the meat industry in the poultry industry hard because you had to go to work if we didn't go to work If we didn't fill our plants the country couldn't eat. You know, and it's inherently close together. Working people are you know on the chicken line there right next to each other. So you know that that took it. It definitely took its toll, You know? And now You know this summer, It's going to be harder to get Pork sausages, You know, because the restaurants are all re opening, and then people are going to stay home. They're gonna have gatherings and barbecues. And you know that Z. You know, that's the thing that you cook..

We're giving you a chance to say thanks and sound off a little bit way like here in yours as well. And the number for that. What if you just want to go? Go to Arizona. Go tto go to South Dakota. So we'll talk to a Peter Greenberg about that. That's coming up in just about 10 minutes here on W G. Click the Daily Web poll question. We asked you at the start of the show. Are you be the White Sox After that deal? Why should the socks have still Higher, Tony LaRussa and what's the number you're getting on that, Mrs Garris. It isthe 60. Some percent 66% say no. And a third of you say yes. If that's the only consideration. I say yes, if a person could do a job and they've had a do I I think you should still be able to do your job. That's why I'm coming at it from its. It's not a typical job. You know you're a role model. You need to be Respected in the community and respectful It's his second D Y that that I guess he's had. That was about to say that we know of, but I believe that's his second d u I and you know, after the first one, he said, I've learned my lesson. It won't happen again. It has It was 13 years ago. I don't know if that You know, sort of mitigates that pledge, like a lot of us have made promises and done our best to keep them up. But we aren't perfect. I don't know if that I don't know if Tony LaRussa is an alcoholic or has just had an alcohol problem at times. My understanding is that if you want to sort of mitigate the personal damage to yourself, you should when pulled over, not take the Breathalyzer test. And I know a lot of you hate to hear that. If that's true, because it sounds like okay, Here's what to do when you're driving drunk as though you're making a plan. And you should make a plan to not drive drunk. I know that I know that. I know that. But I think the attorneys out there would tell you not to take that test that would that would make the damage to you down the road, not as bad. And you know, we'll be under the White Sox. You're hiring a baseball manager, and they know who Tony lorises they know about his past transgressions. And I think that the biggest mistake the White Sox made was not saying something. Beforehand, right? Before when they hot when they announced his higher Why didn't they say something about it? Then? It would have, you know, maybe dampened the enthusiasm. A new era array. We've got a new manager. We've got one of the most exciting teams. The baseball Team can feel them Baseball coming up next season Boil boil, boy. Oh, by the way, you know you don't wanna you don't wanna have that share the stage. But Here we are. It looks like Um, I don't know if you were hiding. It is the right word. But wouldn't it have been better if you'd got in front of it somehow? Maybe announced as you are considering him. We understand the blemishes and the positives of all of these candidates. You could have maybe floated that out there before it actually happened. I'm not a PR guy. But this is a PR problem for the White Sox. Now it's It's embarrassing. Now look. This may be the last take away just about the baseball team. And that is if Tony wins all's forgiven us for gotten right. If the if the team wins, If they have the kind of season that team ought to be able to have Then this is just a footnote and better to bury it the November before, rather than the the April love. Let's just get this thing out of the way, And obviously they've done that. Okay, It's 11 14 So travel. Let's talk to the host of Ion travel. Peter Greenberg, you hear him? Saturdays? "It was a lot uglier than I'd like it to be, and I told the team afterwards. Just, you know, disappointed more than just the penalties that we had just some stuff that you know, you don't expect to happen at all. You don't expect a lot of this stuff to happen at all. But it does. And guess what? The fallout doesn't happen on a Sunday morning without the great work of my producer, Tony Piano, Anthony, I'm saying Tony, because that's a find him on Twitter. Anthony Piano. He's a rock star. Thank you, Anthony. Oh, you're fine Work again and by the way, If your team didn't appear in the fallout. You don't get you don't get to hear from your team and your highlights and everything. Don't don't complain to me. Don't complain to Tony Peter. No complain to your athletic director and your coach, that your players aren't good enough. Motivate them. Say the gone Lee. The good teams make the fallout on the John Kincaid's show on CBS Sports Radio. I appreciate you being a part of that. It's so much fun. And Anthony does spectacular work with that. Every single week. I'm loving that we're gonna get a chance to talk to a J. Hawk coming up. He is from the Hawk cast if you hadn't heard that it's fun. He's very He's very visceral. I just I just wondered, Does he does he just go out like it may be in the backyard and tackle trees or something from serious except NFL radio. We'll talk to a J Hawk and I'm going to ask him about it. What one week in the NFL means. Do we guys like me in the media and fans do we just tend to overreact? "Game? So I'm glad I playing it for free don't pay for it if you don't have to but Yeah, it's it's been fun. So that's been good. Obviously everybody knows about my love for the last of us which is continued and patron to our. With Tony Battle to our PATRIAE on episode, discussing our love of the last of us and the last part to with our good friend Tony and Yeah. So that's been great and lake because of the last of US started like I started streaming video game playing. Your sure I'm twitter now and it's very sporadic because obviously now back to work and will be for at least the next few weeks. So no twitching but it was I I have to say it is like weirdly fun to like stream video games and not just like soon them but I would watch people play like certain video games as well. on twitch, and and yeah. So to like the five people that tune into my twitter streams which are Steph Tony Peter Ben and Karston, I think and helped me beat uncharted to much love to you Being like, Hey, coach up on that thing that thing is what unlocks the switch or whatever? Yeah. It's weirdly fun because like as I'm playing people are typing in comments like I can see the comments as I'm playing I'm just like talking and responding to them, and it was really fun and everybody really helped me get through that game which I didn't really love but I enjoyed it because of the communal team nature of getting through it. So I think I went through in played like a ten hour session of it. And pretty much finished the game one sitting. So after after the USO Ben and Rome and Roland Garros depending on everything I'll get back to it and I'm going to do uncharted four, which I need to I need to play, which is slick one the sequel to the game that I just finished, and also the whole reason I started twitching before is because my best friend staff I. Got Her really into the game despite the bye plot like she's never seen it. Never Latoya yeah and she's never played. She'll never play it but she's like just as obsessed with it as I am just because of the plot of the story. So because of Kovic couldn't come over couldn't watch me play the game. So I was like, oh. Why don't I just stream it and you can watch me play it because that you know and so that's how I started doing it. So yes. So that's been really fun. So. I'll get back to I'm still trying to she still wants to watch me finish a playthrough of the last of us. So I have about I'd like fits of it left to do. So I will resume that once it's all over I did some twitching too early in quarantine? Yes. You did tennis elbow and it was fun like it was probably never more than I don't know ten fifteen people mostly but just me playing. The best tennis video game out there and talking sometimes people just watching your commentating. We're really genuinely like watching with only comment Mike interesting points. It wasn't a constant chatter. It was like a more like that was a terrible volley dismissed and I was like I know thank you for speaking for the first time in thirty minutes to tell me I was but it was it was the most notable shot and last thirty minutes because it was really bad miss. Yeah I mean my my streams cool and enjoyable and maybe would be enjoyable for other people only because it almost ends up being kind of this lake hybrid podcast thing right because like or interactivity because. People just kind of ask you whatever. And it's up to the end. So like random conversations, kind of just start, it's not even just about the game it'll just be like and you'll see this on if you stream other teachers like a lot of the really popular ones are ones were playing the game but they're just kind of having a conversation with people you know while they're playing the game. That's. Unrelated, to the game, they're playing which can get get people in trouble. That's why streamers get in trouble with like they go down to politics, robin bowls and things like that. But yeah, anyways that's it's been fine and it was a very unexpected thing. I didn't think that I would ever become a twitter and yet here I am I think it's Panda Express P.. D. A.. X.. P. R. S., twelve. I think is that my handle we'll put a Lincoln in this Gershon. Yeah. I'm sorry if that's not the handle, that's my. That's my handle somewhere but. anyways enough and the new album. Yes. I'm GONNA I was going play it out with some. Hi, Dorrie. Yes. Hi Thomas. Great. The high album is great I I was watching a ton of movies and stuff early on my serve rent rate will just be for. e-books at libraries which are phenomenal resource for at least I think much every library in the US I think has some sort of most of the good ones at least hopefully have book resources at a kindle GonNa Wane. Let's flex your popular books in somebody they show up and you can put your kindle on airplane mode to keep the books longer than there are a lot of time. So I think they still go people you know give them back if you're a little slow. Just trying to get more into reading books in slowing down, watching less and less TV, screen stuff in this phase of quarantine. But I will also especially also now that on my screen time is back on sportscenter came back whether it's tennis are. and Shell it's happening the one show that wanted China which I love watching recently was berry buried was great. Really Liked Berry. is wonderful in it, and the whole show is just really great and the character of Hank particularly is amazing and I was shocked to find out the actor who plays him is American because I just feel like I was like sure he was some British guy or semester like we just don't get any good American actress anymore but this Guy American and I was into it so. Could work for berries on Hbo River Hbo. Things you get corden are you excited for? What are your thoughts on was having the Milan movie? Yeah. I'm down I'm down with it I. Mean You know Thirty Bucks I I think the only take on the whole Mulan things if people don't know that live action lawn film, which was really be going to be one of the big tent pole theater movies of this year especially, internationally is going direct in the states to Disney plus so for thirty bucks,.

"Euro, I think is what's been established in the NFC. You is that we're really leaning into that. He's a little genius to and then Tony has the resources of all of the start from what he created the suit for him. So it's a fun balance. But honestly as I go through it. I get pages. I the morning of so I'm like, okay. So what's going on here? And I kind of piece it together. And then I look in the in the makeup trailer of all the headshots in the names of all the characters, and I put together what I think the movies about. But I guess with you. That's I don't know I don't know anything. anything anything to kind of touch on how Tony happy's relationship has changed. Tony thought if it's moving. That's I you know, the Tony Amonte loan out a lot like with win. It was on loan out. So so part of the star the star. Family of companies. And and and and, you know, this is this is a lot of a lot of time has passed since the last one so lots implied. Relationship in Peter King. Well, they they were through a lot together. You know? And I think that his relationship with Tony Peters with Tony and happy always been very loyal to Tony going going back for the books to and it's something that was, you know, remember, I started playing this because I just wanted to give myself a cameo is basically an extra in the first one, and what's really super strange for me is that it's how all of this has has evolved into something. So. I should put it every every little threat plays out into other things. So my neighbor was Clark, Greg. I asked him to play a shield agent. Just Paul bet knee. I actually worked with on Wimbledon. We shot at Shepperton. And I asked him to do the voice you never even saw the first movie, and then he turned into the vision and Cochran turn into agents of shield. And so it's a little surreal for me to be honest with you, how all these little things that were just Nick theory doing a post credit team as the Easter egg for the fans turned into the foundation for the whole vendors MC thing. So it's it's it's nothing. Nothing's wasted. So every little detail the fans, really know anytime, we lean into it and trying to reinforce that. It seems to help bring a little more humanity. That's too too. So happy not a traditional chaperone. What is he doing? Well, now, I kind of because with the kids so. I am. I wasn't kidding. I'm kind of turning. I was just joking. I was like am. I I've kinda Hagrid here. And they're like, yeah. You can kind of in the real figuring who they would be from Harry Potter, maybe because here. Surrounded by. Because they serve us. That's what we get for. He could butter beer for lunch. The seller just to protect Peter or see on. No, there's he's he sort of backed by extension. All these kids are in my charge because just by association with peer they're drawn into a world. That's a lot more dangerous than high school. I experienced that these kids should be going through, and it's cool for me. 'cause the school's kind of based on the high school. I went to Bronx science. So I'm very I'm throwing out geeky lines to them acting too cool for my character. Like, that's actually not a spirits of Halberg like the wild like knowing what every weapon, and there is I I remember from dozen the dragons day, so so it's it's it's it's kind of fun out from queens. Also, so like in captain America, and they showed like queens when they cut to queens. And that was the big Tyron, I my heart jumped. He's from queens. You don't really get that top billing usually a punchline. Sandbox directly. I mean nowadays who knows with all the different platforms, and the streaming service that you know, I I'm sort of getting a I'm part of the the new Disney streaming service and all of these new technologies are new platforms emerging, and and and all sorts of really cool..

"He's discerning at all. He's talking about self absorbed. He's a great player. Okay. The New England Patriots more hated the Yankees more heinous. We could go on and on England's more hated at least a mile and your house got some others. This is an amazingly NBA Centric view of the word of the NBA center. Boogie Centric, don't put it on younger. One is is the patriots. Yeah. Number two. I think calbos even though a lot of I think Yankees Red Sox. I got Duke. Right. I don't about anybody hates Golden State because they win because they play the board. Dick and watch. I I think their peer group there's some hey to raid going on because they gave them. Yeah. And they don't particularly like them individually, but you know, what people in the world like them when they NBA arena or they're looking to asthma. They plopped down the credit card, and they give. One of those four jerseys. Let me tell you who's hated more than a Golden State Warriors individually boogie. He's been hated. And he's okay. James war that Golden State Warriors eastern. Great great. That's right. This is crazy opinion. It's crazy. You know? It's not my I don't share it as long as talking about guys that don't seem to Cernan at all. Let's go to Marcus Peters. Your boy Rams cornerback who got into a nice little beat the Sean Payton during the regular season Peyton publicly talked about how he wanted. Michael Thomas stuff feast on Peters and Peter shop that quote, keep talking. We'll have a nice little bowl of Gumbo. Close. Quote. Peter's followed up this week with more Gumbel talk. But deleted that Tony Peters. Gutless Lee now blames everything on the media, but you're not buying. He's given up this grudge against painting the saints. Are you people don't give up grudges trust me? I know you have known me for forty years, and you know, the people I hated that. I know thirty five grudges you have kept these you want to keep these Rudge's. No, you don't the most significant thing in. All of this to me is that the Rams are not putting Peters on Michael, Tom. Well, putting the came to leave on my play that I so okay because they don't want feast time. So that that to me is significant you can't drop the grudge. You have to hate took a coach who talks smack to you. If you're a player in your prime. You have to coach I don't care if the coaches only. It only. Took him down him down. And if you're Peters you have to want to either lay Michael Thomas out at some point during that, I'll tell you you're not gonna get the chance to the sideline situation as they say. I'm just interested to see if anybody if the if the Rams can't come up with a structure a scheme and the personnel employed in that to slow down Michael Thomas because that's the key to this game. So this is an interesting point to me because we would have said at the beginning of the year in the middle of the year that saints we're unstoppable offense and their last six games. They got ten twenty eight twelve thirty one fourteen and twenty that's only nineteen the deep. That's only is nineteen again. The Rams score a lot more than that. And the Rams don't scored like they used to score, you know. So Tom duty of Sports Illustrated is reporting that the Philadelphia Phillies have enough money to sign both top tier free agents, Manny Machado and Bryce Harper. But and this is a big, but but they only want to sign one because they've got their eyes on. Town hero, Mike trout in two years. Will do you like this strategy? No. I mean, two years is such a long time. We now hear things like a team was championship. They're going to win six of the next. No, no. Rams-Saints: Marcus Peters vs. Sean Payton 'gumbo' beef history

"As long as talking about guys that don't seem to Cernan at all. I'm just interested to see if anybody if the if the Rams can't come up with a structure a scheme and the personnel employed in that to slow down Michael Thomas because that's the key to this
