"Both of us didn't want to vote for Westbrook. I think the red vote and you kind of, you decided to be in neither camp and you went to this other side. I'm offended by that. I'm offended by that. You were like, here's my statistical argument for Kauai. No, here's my, the guy is a freaking monster on both ends of the floor. I just thought he was the MVP. Sue me. I was just mad we weren't aligned. I do have the shirt though. I still have this shirt. My son stole the shirt for me. He worked to school a couple of weeks ago because my son can now wear all my clothes. You'll get to that point when your daughter gets older, where she's just starting to just steal shirts from you. All right, on the curry, LeBron note that brings us full circle to the draymond news of the day, which we are still. Do we have any gods? Anything else happened? No, nothing yet that I see on my phone other than some holy crap text. We should mention fantasy just texted this to me. So the words in Celtics make the finals. And the Celtics are like, hey, they didn't win this year. But they have this incredible runway now. Holy Tatum and this team's all set. Everyone's under these great contracts. They have an incredible coach. This team set. This is a main team for the next 5 years. So you have that. Then you have the warriors like, wow, not only they win the title. But they have all these young guys. Two. Yeah, they have this chance now. This is like their Tony Parker Kawhi class potentially where you have that first wave of the Dunkin Manu, and then now you have this new group and curry is Duncan and let's see where that goes. Who are the two most dysfunctional teams of the off season other than the that's the words that the Celtics. When it goes out there. Wow, but that's a given. I mean, Bill Simmons. And by the way, you mentioned that NBA 75 most at stake thing. It's weird that I feel like I've just given up on Davis. Let's end on that. I've just given up on them. And it's probably wrong 'cause he's really talented and we talked on the Tuesday pod about how could 2018 Davis be back. Oh my God. And then I saw he missed those two games. And I'm like, what am I doing? Why did I fall for this again? This guy can't stand the court. He's just back. Has made me question my we're heading for an Anthony Davis vengeance campaign. I'm a little worried now. Yeah, can you get through two preseason games, Anthony? All right. Great to see you. I had a lot of fun doing our two pods. Always fun. You can listen to the Bill Simmons podcast on Spotify or wherever you get your podcasts. I don't think I need to tell anybody that. It's always good to see you. I will see you opening week. Clippers Lakers in LA, who the hell knows what will happen. That's two weeks from now. Anything could happen between now and then I'll see you at the game. Yeah, looking forward to it. Thanks.

"He's like, I got it. Don't leave. It was so fun. I said, I was like, Coke, shut up, man. Let me get them. Crazy thing is he left me, but in the same spot I had missed the previous season when I was with the Legos in San Antonio. I got the same shot. And in my mind, it's redemption time, right? Yeah. I'd rather the same damn results. I missed the shot and cooled without yelled at car. I told you not to leave rob you lucked out this time. Is it really a feeling? 'cause I'm a firm believer in like, you know, the most clutch players in the NBA also happen to be the best players because they're gonna shoot, they're gonna get more opportunities at the end of game and shoot to their percentages over the course of a big enough saddle. But you kind of buck that trend because you hit so many big time shots. You know, it's weird that you brought that up because I tell people all the time. I don't think you understand how hard it was for me to do that because in doing the course of a game, you know, it depends. You know, when you're not the star, you might get three, 5, ten shots a game. You know, but you're not gonna get more than 12 shots a game if you're not just throwing a team. The teams I play for, unless I was the set for my first couple of years in Houston. And you have to be on point, man. But you know, luckily, I was on point a lot of those times I had got a couple shots, got a little rhythm. And for me, I always blank out. And what I mean, it just goes back to your fundamentals. It goes back to the mechanics. It goes back to those millions and millions of hours spent on a playground in a gym, you know, doing all those shots. And for me, every time I got the shot, it was like picture. It's like, do this, do that. This shot, you know? And for me, I never really thought about it. I never cared if I got the shot. I always wanted a shot, but I was like, you know what? If it comes to me, it's coming to me, you know? It's a term I always like to say, the basketball guys would lead you to where you need to be. Hey, we listened to a Robert Oreo on showtime with coop rob a couple of more questions for you serve. Again, I want to thank you for being on the day. You know what? You played on so many spectacular teams, but the one team I really see that I kind of identify you with is that great spurs team, Tony Parker, Tim Duncan, ginobili, tell us one thing that we don't know about Tony Parker. But you can say, you know what Tony, great teammate. He was one of the fastest guys I've ever played with. Think about this for a couple of years. I think three maybe four years. I don't remember. He led the league in points in the paint. You know, and you know how hard that is. And so I'm always trying to get my son Christian to try to emulate him. And as we were asked to do, gotta be like Tony park, getting here to learn how to shoot jumpers, little floaters, get that soft touch around the best because that's so important to me. You know, nowadays, the game is built on the three, but Tony was a great teammate. I am the one who actually introduced him to Eva Longoria. Oh, okay. All right. Because I knew I knew Eva from when I played in LA. So when she came, you know, it was all the big to do because Desperate Housewives and other kinds of stuff. So she came in the locker room. She came to me because she knew me from the Lake because we were talking. And then I introduced her to Tony and next thing that goes. And she asked to meet him? Yeah. He asked you to meet him? Yeah. And why do you think she's the locker room? And when she came along, everybody's like, what the hell this woman doing in locker room and pop was kind of like heated about it, man. He was like, what is she doing? You know, pot was very protective of his players. And I created for he doesn't want his players to get no bad press, no, you know, nothing to distract you. So this was the Eva thing and it was like, so, you know, Tony needs to, I don't know if you want to create to me if we introduced him to you because they divorced, but I don't know about that, but I'm the one that introduced him to either. What was your, what was your favorite championship? I think for me 95 with the rockets was my favorite championship just for the fact that we had to overcome so much no home court advantage the Utah in Utah and game 5 and they. The 7 seed? It was a 66 big seat. They tried in Utah they tried to hold a clock and they got an extra ten seconds to get a shout out. We still won that game. Went on to play the Phoenix sounds. We went down three one in that series. Three one. Y'all came back? Yeah. AC green was talking trash. Can you believe that? He was talking to him. And then we won that series and then we went on to play San Antonio and everybody talks about that series with dream and David Robinson Dave Robinson got MVP. And then we went on the sweet Shaq and penny in the finals. And so that run was so spectacular for us because we went small ball. They moved me from the from the small forward to the powerful, which I was pissed about because man, you know, Charles, you played against Charles, with that big old button, the elbows and you'd be hurting at the end of the game. So we went small ball, it kind of worked out into our favors and for me, I think it kind of put me in a box. And what I mean by that is all of a sudden, I became this spot up for God. And that's when that's not who I was. You know, I was slasher. I was a poster guy. I did love everything in the game, but for me, you know, I've always been a team first guy. If that's what the coach want, that's what I'm gonna do. And all of a sudden, I became his post up guy and I went from having plays run for me my first four years in the NBA to like, it's got that spot up. If you open shoot it, you know, and it makes a big difference in the players game. You get a play ran for you. And I remember playing with elden Campbell. Elden camel is the one guy I always like, yo, we gotta run a play for Elliot because if you run a play for a guy, he becomes engaged and elden, you give him one to play, then he scored, oh, you gonna get an all star type of player that night. So that's what I tell guys, even when I was coaching my AAU team, I ran place for everybody on the floor. Even though some kids were reluctant to shoot, I said, no, I need that confidence for later on in case you have this moment where we need you. So you need to run place for everybody that's some point. Hey, rob, you know, he said something interesting. AC green talking trash. What's he gonna say? The lord is gonna get you for not going to church. What kind of trash can he? The lord will smite you. Because he was talking trash because he previous year, they were up two zero on us, and we came back to beat them, but then became what could he say? He's never going to happen again. We have three one. That happened last year was a fluke, you know, we're the best team. We gonna beat them and next day no, they took us into a tuck machine. See, AC green saying fluke, that's too close to fuck. So. Anyway, we listen to Robert Roy Robert a couple more questions for you, man. Are your thoughts on the Lakers this year? And in the future. You know, having to watch the Lakers, you know, over and over. This is the first time when you see a team, you feel bad for them. And what I mean by that is they just had bad look, you know, all the 80 injuries and everybody always talk about what he saw. First of all, you got to get pushed on your string himself. Happened to me. You trying to throw all these lives to this guy with a lot of traffic around, he'd come down onto someone in his foot, you know, do you have to protect him from himself sometime. And for me, they always want to throw 80 laughs. And that's something that I would never do unless it's a fast break but in the paint with a lot of traffic. I'm not doing it. You know, it with LeBron, LeBron was fantastic this year. I just think it put Vogel in a bad situation, man, because he didn't have the big three never played together. They kept changing the team. As a coach, man, I didn't know I was like, I had to say this coupe. I won a championship next year. I got a different deal. I'll be pissed, man. Because you are not take away from my team, add to my team. Yeah. And I just feel like,.

"Another resurgence. And they win just one more title in 14, right? Where it's like, oh, excuse me, we're here. After going to the final twice. Do the spurs are defined by that one guy, but they are defined that run as defined by one Tim Duncan, just to ever present guy. And I always talk to Steve Kerr about this and he always compares Steph to Tim Duncan like guy. This is the guy, the rare guy that you build around for, you know, 15, 16 years. Based on what I've seen, I think there's some seeds of that with the warriors. With staff being the catalyst, obviously you have Klay Thompson, draymond, then you guys, you got your other guys you got the little homies come inga and Jordan Poole. Moody, I don't know how long he's gonna be on the team, but I don't know. But I just do see something like this bubbling, right? Do you, am I the only one? Am I crazy? I hadn't really looked at it like that, but I don't know that you're crazy. I mean, you know, let's start with Steph and KD. I mean, Katie, Timmy D, two very, very stable people. Two very low key for the most part. You know, Steph's got more shit to him than Timmy that he did, but still I don't think you would you would have him in like the upper Echelon of NBA stars out there getting into shit, having, you know, we've got his commercials and stuff. But I'm really solid dude. Even though we're stability. Argument you got going. Maybe not the fame argument with the stability arguments there. Stability. Yeah, but so what I'm saying? Yeah, 'cause you can't compare them in terms of fame. And I think Steph is way more marketable, right? Has his fingers in way more of that. But as a personality as a person, I think stable people and that's really important. And what's going to be interesting to watch Golden State do because they are kind of tracking and you can draw some comparisons, but they have to continue to hit. The spurs hit with picks, right? I mean, I love comming. We need to see what James wiseman does. Their spurs would hit in terms of bringing in late round second round picks or even free agents. Their player development system was crazy good. Golden states is too. So there are some real parallels there as well. You know, and then the spurs were able to keep that staff together for a long time, Logan. Left eventually and stuff, but dispersed had real continuity on their bench and it allowed them to keep consistent culture in their building for so long. And those are, you know, that remains to be seen. Golden states had a really good run, but you know, people are looking to kind of, you know, you're Jaron's leave and pieces that may not be big, sexy names, but it will be interesting to see how their departure and if it continues to happen, you know, how that affects the overall product and the overall organization. Yeah, I mean, you brought up a good wise man. We've always talked about this show. He's the key to all of this, you know? I mean, I honestly believe that, but to your point about hitting on the guys, I think one lesson that they learned during the flash, I don't know if we can call it flash in Japan, but like the highest of high that they've ever been. They're absolute peak, 1617. And then, you know, 1718 and I think those are like the absolute peak of what the warriors were, right? I think the biggest thing that they learned was this isn't sustainable without player development because if you look at their track record during those runs, they didn't draft. Maybe they drafted well, but they didn't develop well at all. You know, I think about Jordan bell's little world, I think about the Patrick McCall's of the world. Kevon Looney was one of the lone ones of that, but kevon Looney was like baby just the one out of that whole group, right? And he's a rotation player. And right now though, I think that they pool and wiseman can just send wiseman's out for a year like it's done. That's not happening. But next year, we're really going to see how good this team is and can be, right? Well, they can just keep those top 6 guys. And this, I think this is the test to see if there are, you know, the warriors flashing a panda this is the last remnants of that, or if they are going to be sustained, sustained success and maybe get like one or two more titles out of this. Yeah, his maturation and development into what you would hope the pick warranted is going to be paramount in it. If you remember the spurs, it was Tim Duncan. And then it was Tim Duncan and Tony Parker, but Tony Parker was kind of the lead for a couple of years. Tim was still great, but Tony was Tony was Tony. He was doing Tony things. And then it was, you know, Tim Duncan Tony Parker and Manu ginobili featuring mostly Tony and Manu. Can you dig what I'm saying? Every year as Tim gets older, where lightening the load until it finally got to be certainly Tim Duncan, yes, Tony Parker. Yes, Manu, but now we're featuring Kauai, right? So Kauai is the guy. So why was a rotation player one time? Once upon a time, man. I don't think he was a rotation player. And they developed and they kept that skill development and, you know, but that's what you need for that sustained excuse me success that passing of the torch so to speak. It's what's been so disappointing for me watching the Lakers. I can't speak for Laker fans. No, they don't have any of that. But the passing of that torch is what you were that was the thing you had to get right with the AD trade, right? The rest of that, yes, there are shit show, but you had to get that passed into the torch right. And it looks like they fucked that up..

"I mean, it's always, I don't care who you are. This is genderless. You walk into a film room with Greg Popovich. And Tony Parker, and you're going to sit up there and give them a scouting report. They've been doing this for 20 plus years. Like, you know, so I think there was a real for me, basketball's basketball I could sit there and tell you how to break down a pick and roll, but for me, it was really learning the league, learning our guys and really getting knowledgeable about what coaches do what, this coach likes this kind of style or this player. And you know, as a WNBA player, obviously, I watched the NBA. But, you know, I didn't know who number 12, 13, 14 was. On the bench in what they did in their strength. So to me, it was a whirlwind of vocabulary terminology. Because that's not, again, that's a genderless thing that has to do with this team might call it this and this team calls it this and just learning the lingo. So that first year, I felt like my head was just spinning with names constantly and it was like, oh, you're an idiot. You can't remember. Well, it's because I've just had an influx of 200 names of players and coaches that I had had no interaction with. And so trying to learn that my first year and like I said, I don't care who you are. The last few years and i get what people are saying. If that was the case i wouldn't have played seventy eight games that year. I just waited to the end of the season and try to play in the playoffs. Third player since dirk nowitzki when delayed the dallas to the championship at twenty eleven quite leonard. Twenty nineteen those are the only two players think about in terms of before young to without either the franchise building a quote unquote super team or drafting. A quota will super team or through trades and free agency. The second best player on the team is a top ten top fifteen player in the league. The third player on that group is the perennial all-star if you think about the annals of nba history about the champions for the most part. I mean you have the boston. Celtics with a major star magic johnson superstar kareem abdul-jabbar time in all star and james worthy. You think about the boston. Celtics of major starring larry bird superstar in kevin mchale and all star in robert parish. You think about the san antonio spurs are made to start with. Tim duncan a superstar with manager. "Then much rob of the goodwill that chris paul is our is going to be for not so. You're going to take your flowers back that you've been throwing them not gonna take. The flowers. were deserve that level. Okay what i'm saying. If he i've been saying all these playoffs if he wins his championship he's number five. He's number five on the altar. I point guard and if he loses if they lose his he's not i mean you can't lose to atlanta even with trae because their best player is your position and he's a kid right right is third here. You got a school that young. So now he's going to get his points and all that but you. You better win. I'll even care what. Chris numbers are up. You gotta win. It's about winning. Knocked out about it. I don't know i guess. Sounds like is pretty harsh. That under any circumstances. But i get it at thirty six years old chris sixteen years in the league. It ain't like oh yeah we'll be back next year for sure or obt the same path schumer. That's like that they made it. That's what i get it. This might be his only shot at it and then when you look at the field that's left what that's the thing. That's what is defeat the field. If this was brooklyn was still alive. And they had three months chris. You wouldn't feel that way right. It will be like no. We can't win. get right absolutely absolutely. And as i said if milwaukee's healthy. Then if you lose to milwaukee with john is there's no shame in but if they lose to milwaukee without yannis to atlanta period then it hurts the legacy rob all of the you see skip skip bayless which this is i mean skiffs has some some crazy stuff in my opinion but i don't think i think he didn't have chris paul in his top fifteen all time point. If i remember correctly. Tony parker ahead of him and all of that. You know he's a spurs guy. That's a hometown pick right there. I right but i get an only parker or won a couple. He's a great year. And i'll tell you what. Tony parker may rob. He may get short shrift because he was on that great team right and the but he but what is. The numbers probably weren't as good as they could have been what he was a finals. Mvp once wasn't yup yup lebron right. I'll say seven. Yeah he was a finals. Mvp and he's a certain hall of famer doubt the second round. Pick right when the in the second round he was late. I my new was second round..

"Well, let's take you honest. You know, Janice had to win two and VPs. I don't. I don't see that Janice. Get as much love as a k d or as of Russell Westbrook or a James Harden, or he who shall not be named. I don't think the honest gets as much love from his peers as you might expect. And if he does now, it's only because he's won multiple M v P I think Manu Ginobili in some part in Tony Parker. Went through this now They were never the level of player and that's why it's tough to Manu Ginobili was not the level of player that Nicole Yokich is or Janice's Ruka, dance your chest. I think you're honest, Luca. Nicole. Yo, kids, you notice that those guys are quick to praise each other. Because, while I agree with Paul Klee's point overall I do think in their little circle. Remember Yanis raving. About Yokich at the All Star Game. They have an unbelievable amount of respect for each other. It's a two way street. Luca is the same way with Yokich and Johannes. I think this is An American versus Non American. Saying more than anything else. I think that's number one on the list, and I think number two on the list is what Aaron pointed out that Nicole Yokich is does not play an appealing brand of basketball and basketball players themselves are still fans of the game. They still like to watch. And I'm sure they don't watch many Nuggets game. I would say those are the two per Bailey read. Why maybe Nicole Yokich? Uh, doesn't Get the love. Uh um. From the seven or nine as a lifelong Cleveland fan. I'll always love the who shall not be named for bringing a championship home, but I can't wait for him to retire. I think the league will be better. For it. Yeah, And we've seen this. We have evidence. Based on ratings. Saying that the appetite from the general sports and basketball fan is enough. Of that guy in L. A I'm not saying that they want him completely out of the way. But we have seen him at the top of this game and be this black. Hold this vortex just All the conversation in the league around him. And we're seeing that the the NBA playoffs without him. Are some of the highest rated ever. And I think that tells you a lot. About the appetite to move. Just again. He doesn't have to be out of the way. Just his time to rule the league needs to be over. He can stick around and he could be a villain, and he can You know, he's still a box office draw. You know, I'm not saying he needs to retire. I'm just saying we need the NBA will be better off. Moving forward without him dominating the league. And this late in the playoffs. They're being teams like Milwaukee and Atlanta, and even the Clippers and the Phoenix sign. 5229872. There are some thoughts on Montreal in Tampa. I want to get to here in a little bit. So if you text about the hockey game, hey, type as you can. I will get to those in a little bit. And some other theories about why Nicole Yokich isn't embraced as much by his NBA superstar brethren. But I want to get to my next guest on time because the big news of the day is And I l baby. Name, image and whiteness. If your college athlete you can profit off of those three things, the floodgates are supposedly opened. Has there been a flood of college athletes cashing in? Yeah that's how it works in sports. Everyone accepts to god's who says he's still not wrong. I dan he did it against reggie jackson like okay great. He did it against the guys who were out. There did against lebron in the first round. Why why are we holding this against him that this is the same bullshit that we've seen like we saw with chelsea when they would they were talking about their their opponents making into the final. He went through lebron james just because he didn't go throw him in the western conference. Final doesn't make it less impressive. all i'm saying is if you wanna be included. I have no doubt. I have no questions about the greatness of chris paul. It is obvious to anyone who watches basketball. That chris. paul is one of the great point guards ever play. But if you want to be in my top five or my top ten you have to be a point. Guard that wednesday championship. So he is four games away from doing that. It's pretty easy steph. Curry he's in my top ten. Tony parker has a better career. That chris ball. He has a you fall. Would you rather have tony parker's career or your own wolf l. tate. Those three or four rings dan day. Strong stu gods. I learned top ten right my top that you do with your top ten what you will. I'll do with my top ten when i will. It's fine. i'm just not gonna let you slip away. What i've said is when stephen a smith or michael bomb would call them one of the top five point guards of all time. I said he never even made it to an nba final. And now what. I'm telling you is. He has to win once he makes it to the nba finals. So he is there and he is four games away against maybe trae young maybe jaanus. We don't know but he's four games away and so if he does that i will put him probably somewhere my top ten. I'm thinking of slotting him in around eight. That's that's where. I have them right now. What about the specifics of last night in an elimination game on the road and elimination game for only the clippers but on the road. He had one of the best offensive performances. We have seen this postseason and took away from us. Also stu gods. You can do some of the paul george bashing today but we said that this series was your specific delight because you would have the ability to win either way. You did not win last night. No Because paul george has been great. It's hard to criticize paul. He was fine. He was just okay last night. He wasn't terribly efficient. He but i mean this is hard. He's played so many minutes and to come off of the game he just had to do it again. Forty eight hours later as difficult ass. He leaves the nba in minutes. Played in the postseason. He's a hundred minutes ahead of the guy's gonna hide which is devon booker. Which is so. I can't really criticize paul. George dan he got this team to the two games in the nba finals. Without kawhi leonard. But i'm not talking about paul george here. I'm talking about the specifics of it hasn't been booker. This series booker has not been healthy or right. He's been fiddling and struggling with his mask and last night. It was paul. It's the oldest. It's the only result where you lose. I thought that that series was perfect for you right. I thought it was ideal for you. The only scenario where your opinion loses is is chris. Paul summons a game where the kind of game that was necessary. Which is they're not getting the efficient scoring. They usually get from booker here. It comes from chris paul. Yeah it's hard to criticize and sixteen to twenty four seven of eight from three forty one point. Three steals eight assists four rebounds. How can i criticize that today. All i can say is due to the nba finals. But it's not about criticizing it. It's i think people want me to apologize for celebrating celebrating in. Yeah it's amazing. What what billy said is absolutely right. Chris paul was a player two years ago that we point to and say i don't want i don't want that guy. It's kind of under reported how bad his knees have been for fifteen years. Think of when you think of chris paul. You probably think of in clippers jersey. But he's played for the hornets. The clippers the thunder the rockets and now the sun's it's an odd career trajectory for one of the greats of all time at that position and this late in his career after he was jettisoned. Okay see and nobody wanted to come up with a trade package for him. He he's gonna hit an open market and command a donald. He wanted that contract. I it's an incredible. It's an incredible achievement for him to get here any did go through lebron. You cannot take that away from him. You're right mike but you want me to celebrate a guy making an nba. Finals should have made at least five throughout his career. That's what you want me to celebrate that today. I mean celebrate what a lot of guys have made the nba. Did we celebrate. John stockton when he finally made it to an nba final. I don't recall. Yes yes we do what we do. There was a celebration of his greatness. John stockton he's regarded as one of the best point. Guards effort celebrated. Gary payton as well. Which wait your top. Ten must be terrible. Why just thinking about it the greats at the position. I'd rather have the point guards that never wanna chain. Let's get. Let's get that list right now. Get the fanfare ready and we will get a top ten list from stugatz in moments. I want to hear this off the top of his head. I'm sure he's got memory. I'm gonna need a minute here. I gotta find it somewhere. My okay you go ahead and find it. I think you might think. I might have seen it the other day in your sock and one of your tubes. I thought that's where it was. I have no idea where it is. Just give me a minute to this is going to be credible way. "The young core that they had at the time that he became a free agent. Nope. Didn't want to come here. I think a great example to point out is San Antonio. Think about the Spurs. For years. They were, the model of stability still are to an extent. Like they would have kept quiet Co I wanted to stay. They've had the same coach the same front office. The same stars they had, and I'm talking about the Duncan era spurs. They had the same coach. Same for an office. Same stars, all of which were Could not have been respected more. Guys love Gregg Popovich. They recognize San Antonio is a smart organization. They respect Tim Duncan. And oh, by the way, they won championships, something that the Nuggets don't have. But nobody wanted to go there. They drafted quiet. They drafted Tony Parker. They drafted Tim Duncan. They drafted Manu Ginobili. Drafted David Robinson. They traded for a lot of the Role players that helped them win championships and go out and sign any marquee free agents. They got to Marta Rosen in exchange. For quite Leonard. Nobody wanted to go to San Antonio. And there was a time where if you wanted to win, that's where you would go. That would be the first place that you would look at his San Antonio. Nobody wanted to go there. They built up nearly a perfect organization. Except they were located in San Antonio, Texas. And that's the way I look at it with the Denver Nuggets. Yes, they don't have championships. But Brooklyn doesn't have any championships. I still wanted to go to Brooklyn. Miami before LeBron got there. How many championships to the Miami Heat win. I mean, they've won. But you can't tell me that the reason why LeBron James went to Miami was because They've had this long lineage of Championship basketball. No, they haven't LeBron went to L. A. Yes there the Lakers. But when's the last time they won anything before he got there? So the fact that the Nuggets haven't won a championship. I don't think is really a reason why guys Reluctant to go to Denver. The only thing the nuggets have going against them is that they are located in flyover country. They have the best player in the league. Who's as unselfish as it gets. There's good young talent. On that roster. Jamal Murray, Michael Porter. They have a well respected head coach and Michael Malone. They're stable. They have some of the smartest people in basketball that have worked for them. Why does the name but I want to come here? Why they have to go out and trade for Aaron Goren. Why can't they just sign somebody? You know, they use this. We don't skip steps, and I do believe that they believe it. But as far as the step of landing a marquee free agent, they know that it's part. It's a legitimate step. In today's NBA to go and sign a big time free agent. But they use we don't skip steps as a shield against the reality of they can attract a free agent, and that's not on them. They've done everything they can. Geography is what is against this Nuggets team. It was against those San Antonio teams. And that's what's frustrating if your Nuggets fan We say sometimes that they're reluctant. They're not reluctant. They're not. They're not reluctant to sign a free agent. Now, will they be? Little bit discerning when deciding between free agents. Sure. I think they do. Look at how these guys will be a fit in their culture. How many of these free agents who have come about over the last Let's say two or three years. Are bad culture guys. Is Paul George, a bad culture guy. Don't agree with him. Wanting out to go to L. A But I don't hear that. He's Bad influence on the Clippers roster. Knock on him is that he's not a big time player, which he tried to disprove the other night, and we'll try to disprove once again tonight as the Clippers look to close out the Jazz How could you not want to play for Denver or Utah? Or San Antonio. Because of where they're located. And that is out of Tim Connelly's control. That is how the cranky is control. As our Nicole Yokich is control. I've done everything else. Now. I mean, Mentioned that they pay guys. Before they have to, and Jamal Murray is the latest example of that. Gary Harris is another example. Nicole Yokich is Jamal Murray was the big one right because While Gary Harris extension kind of turned some heads. Jamal Murray's was on the heels of a terrible performance in Game seven against the Blazers, and they still without hesitation. Gave him That extension, the max extension that they could The next guy who they're going to try to do that for is Michael Porter Jr. Who even though he's only two years into playing in the NBA is three years since getting drafted, which means after this coming season. He will be a restricted free agent. Again, a situation where the Nuggets don't have to offer an image extension. They could let this season play out, and they could just simply match any offer. That anyone were to present to Michael Porter Jr. But you better believe in Tim Connolly. Said as much today. The modus operandi of the Denver Nuggets is going to remain in place for Michael Porter Jr. Also down with with Michael's representation, um are I'm always when we can, which we try to lock eyes up and reward them for what they've done, and we've had a lot of luck. Um and getting things done earlier rather than later, and I think it's To help with our culture, and I think these guys are colleagues. They're not assets and the more proactive we can be with trying to build a sustainable roster. The better I would say, because of Porter's talent that is already showing His second year playing in the league and now that he has shown even though he had some back issues against the sons, they weren't enough to keep them out of the lineup. Now that he's proven that he can be healthy. I think he might be more attractive than Jamal Murray was when the Nuggets locked him up. Maybe even when Nicole Yokich was locked up to be quite honest..

Tim Duncan Tony Parker David Robinson Gregg Popovich Tim Connelly Tim Connolly Jamal Murray Michael Malone Marta Rosen Aaron Goren Gary Harris Michael Porter Paul George LeBron Manu Ginobili Nicole Yokich Miami Heat Denver Nuggets Michael Leonard

"In a town that suited his personality. Had he played on a bigger stage. Had he played in New York, and he played in L. A. We would remember Tim Duncan differently. I truly believe that if he's winning titles, there would be a statue at Staples. If he was winning a title titles in New York. There'll be a statue. He's in San Antonio. Tim couldn't care less about how he's honored or have a statue there. Yeah point. It's also so so weird how he ended up in San Antonio. The 95 96 Spurs with David Robinson and Popovich before Duncan got there were 59 23 their first in the Midwestern division. They're great. Back injury to Tim Duncan. They finished sixth in the next season. There 20 and 62 they get deep in the playoffs. Lottery. They get Tim Duncan, first year a Tim Duncan the right back on top 2056 games. Well, I think that it might have been encouraged for David Robinson to not play those final games of the regular season when he came back with his back injury, and then they win the lottery. That's when Rick Pitino thought, Hey, I'm coaching the Celtics, and we're getting Tim Duncan and I am set for the next decade or so. And it didn't happen. Obviously, yes, McLovin. Wonder, though, with his style play, I mean, it was boring. Let's face it is his greatest moments for 12 ft Bank shots. He just was not a highlight player. You're right. So with how that but if he was in l A with the L A nous have overwhelmed that and he'd be Ah, bigger name. I'm not sure what you sow. So low keyed, but he couldn't have been anybody but himself. I don't think where he went. I don't think all San Antonio made him that. That's hooey. If you're around him, he is chill. Is Melo. He steps on the floor. Avery Johnson and Vinny Del Negro would tell me. Don't let him fool you like he. He has a temper. He's competitive. And he's got five titles. Uh, he was an all star. What 15 times. I'm guessing Offensively, but 1st 2nd 3rd team all defense. How many times 1st 2nd team. 13 regular MBA, You know, regular season All Star It's just we don't he wasn't exciting. And I had a conversation with his former teammate a couple of weeks ago. Matt Bonner. And he said, Look, Tim's won the five greatest players of all time. Now, you know he's obviously territorial here and you start to look at it. And and you could make a case. Tim Duncan is one of the top five players of all time. It's just there's no moment where you go. Wow. Did you see what Duncan did? It's one of those where you look in the box score afterwards and you go. Get 25 15, you know, five blocks Forces. No. We played with great players. Nobody knew Tony Parker was a great player. Nobody knew man who was a great player. We knew David Robinson Woz. We didn't know how good Gregg Popovich was, is a coach. Just kind of came together, but it helps when your star player falls in line with what the coach wants everybody to do. And he would yell it, Tim. Yes, McLovin. I have you know the all time ESPN list. It was a big deal two years ago. Uh, Tim is eight on their right ahead. A Larry Bird it right. Uh, I'm sorry, Labored seven and Kobe's nine, So he's sandwiched in eight, which is not far off the top five, but he's got five titles. He has three MVPs. In the finals. He's got two MVPs during the regular season. 15 time All Star. 10 time first team. Eight times first team all defense. Seven times second team all defense, so 15 years he was first or second all defense. He was rookie of the year. I mean, that's a decorated resume there. But who could you possibly knock out the top five? These really Russell Chamberlain, Magic Bird? Jordan. Kind of. Well, you have Russell and Chamberlain, and that's a different era. Because You know, I get into this argument, and I hate doing it. Um Bill Russell's the most decorated Does that make him the You know, one of the top five players, uh, you know, will want a title. Got a ton of scoring. I mean, he's got You know, you almost have to take. You almost have to start this in the seventies or maybe the eighties. Just to be fair to those players because Oscar Oscar's in there as well. It was just a different game. But I think that's where you talk about generational. Is Tim Duncan there with Michael Jordan. And the answer is yes, he is. Mean his resume is every bit he won five titles, You know, three times the M V p In the finals. Where do you find fault? Just because he didn't give you a highlight. That's really it. If Tim Duncan had a couple of Vince Carter highlights Tracy McGrady highlights Took down a backboard one time. Garnett. Garnett was in your face. He was there like you knew Garnett was on the floor. Tim what you could tune in and go Who's the best player on the floor? And it might take a little while before you realize that it was Tim Duncan. Ginobili was far more exciting. Parker was far more exciting. The admiral was.

Kawhi Leonard’s potential split from Spurs could be story of summer

"Oh players you know domestically from college how that's gone up that was up by about forty forty forty more individuals or fifty more individuals and again just tying what i talked about with one hundred one hundred thirty seven college players last year one eighty one this so that's a fifty fifty eight so there's no reason to just flush so many again think about it unlike here where there are going to be two hundred and fifty six draft choices for thirty two teams right the nba sixty sixty two rounds what do you do with all these kids that don't go and they can't all go to the g league so you're sending all of them overseas why not keep all these kids and domestic or back to college and back college basketball so different from the nfl it's not even a totally different ball wax it's so different than twenty years ago when we were big time college hoops fans we knew the kids some other nba news spurs eliminated last night could be the final game for manage tony parker who knows what their future is right there teammate kawhi leonard also the center of so much controversy this season well according to espn and all hands on deck summer meeting with co co leonard is on the high priority list for the sport for the spurs according to danny green quoted after the game everyone asks the question but he's still here he's still in and he's still a part of this team until things change so his teammates certainly consider him still a part of this moore's whether kuwa himself considered himself still a part of the spurs the only played nine games this year with that quad yes he continues his rehab in new york city popovich as expected to be a major part the weed in this we'll find out that he hasn't lost his chops either man.

Sifting Through All the Kawhi Leonard Theories

"Into the playoffs and the players were essentially reaching out to leonard to say we wanna help you we want to be here for you and the message they got back essentially was i've got good reason for not playing it's going to be difficult for him to return and think that even if he does play they're going to get that could really help him advance in the postseason i guess that's it i mean this is layer there's no doubt about it one of the things that the players see and this is something you always you see in the locker room and somebody gets hurt they rehab and then they come back and usually for every injury there those occasional different type of injuries where the timing can be an issue on when you come back but for the most part there is and players understand this and the comparisons at some players will see here is that tony parker had thighinjury that was considered more severe than kawhi leonard and tony parker is back playing tony parker used the san antonio spur medical staff to come back leonard went outside which again you have every right to be part of the cba you can go get a second opinion you can go away from a team doctor and kawhi leonard did that because leonard who again the injury wasn't deemed as bad as tony parker's is still not back basically says he's not coming back and has his reasons for it so there is that layer of players wondering you know and they know them obviously better quiet way better than we do so i have no idea if there's you know accusing are you are you ready to come back but you just don't want took us we're not really going anywhere he has twenty one million dollars left on his deal at next year and then you can opt out after that we don't know the situation and what makes it a head scratcher is he's just considered one of the good guys an an an a good guy who doesn't say anything a silent silent good guy so this is really wild but he seems pretty adamant and i'm not gonna lie i i've been part of many team meetings in my career both in college and in the nfl and some can be helpful some can be a wasted whatever let's go to hear your voice rarely do i do i hear of one where.
