"Tony w i look for this to be a scoring game. I think. I think they're gonna make lamar jackson look like they've done so far in his career but i look for the ravens to do what they sometimes do and that's winning heinz field. I'm looking for a three another field goal game and i that make them in my mind. Seven five right so you have them itself in five. I guess i'm still at eight and four war. What are you going with. My man shannon white. that's one of them games. That could go either way. I just believe that being the homefield advantage with the schedule coming up after that I think the stores have the defense to slow down that running game. And i still don't believe that jackson's gonna prove that much passer so i won't take the steelers winning at home. Alrighty there you go so the next game is not much time to prepare lots of purple in a couple of days stretch so on december fifth. They play the ravens on december ninth. They traveled to minnesota on a short week to take on the vikings fellas. Your thoughts on this. Let's start with tony at the thursday night game right yes It's gonna be awfully tough. It's gonna be awfully tough. But i get the feeling the vikings and they had a rough year last right so they replay there before. I'm gonna give the steelers kind of a mini upset. I'm actually going to go in the other direction. And i'm going to say that the minnesota vikings are the team that on a short week. They're going to be tough to beat there. There are a lot like the steelers. I kind of feel that these are two teams that are kind of equal in what they've been doing the last couple of years. They have the opportunity to win every single week. And then they have the opportunity to To lay an egg and we can see that i. I can see the vikings doing it at home and it looks like we lost tony. We lost shannon there. I would not be surprised if he said that the the vikings would win. But we'll ask them. Excuse me that the steelers would win but will ask him when he comes back in there he is there. He is so shannon. I know. I know the i thought you went to check on the ribs. Cnn did a lost you so vikings and steelers on thursday night football right after they play the ravens. A winner loss for the steelers. I say definitely a win They they can slow down cook and other though because he he's not gonna like their pressure side still win alrighty so i actually went in the opposite directions i i actually called it a loss so the very so. They've got ten days to prepare for the titans tennessee. Titans coming into pittsburgh The i don't know whether they're going to play this game because the titans might have might test positive for great the seventeenth time in the season. That's very possible like they've got like a they need a exterminator there or whatever were they need a better cleaning press. I don't know what's going on there but anyways with that being said titans come to town man steelers. Stop the run well. But i've a feeling that derrick henry could run wild on this team and tama hill has some guys to throw to now too. So let's go ahead and start with shannon white. I think that the steelers will have advantage at home. They beat tennessee last year on the road and i think that they can the have an advantage the hoverer though still be at full strength with have bushier and shabbir inside and were they give You know try to slow that running game So i actually think that the stores could win that game. Alrighty tony nephew harder hitting games of the year for the physical teams. I look for the steelers to win this game. Like a twenty four. Seventeen something like that. All righty and i'm going to say that the steelers win as well to go to nine and five on the season. Let's wrap up the season with the next three games and they are all going to be tuffey's. Let's go first with the kansas city chiefs the day after christmas. It's boxing day nationally televised game or might be able to. This might be a game that gets moved. Who knows but the steelers going to get knocked out on boxing day. I'm going to say yes. They'll lose this game and go to nine and six tony def. Yeah that's going to be a difficult game for them to win I don't think they match up. Well with mahomes lease ended in a few years ago when they played them so to say. I'm going to say it's going to be difficult. Maybe maybe inaugural loss for them shannon white. I think they may end up meeting in the playoffs. But i think the chiefs will handle business in kansas city They've just got so many weapons. And you know the stores was gonna have excellent defense. I think that the kansas city will be able to influence on board to win that. So yeah. I think they take a loss in kansas city. All right and once again. I already said that they would take a loss as well. So we move on to two thousand twenty two on january third for week sixteen boy. How crazy does that sound week. Sixteen january third. But.

Twenty four to sixteen come from behind victory over the eagles at lincoln financial field in philadelphia and i thought it was a pretty entertaining game really. I mean as far as preseason games go. I really enjoyed myself watching it. I watched it when i was out with friends after running in the rain. Pretty scary night on thursday night As far as thunderstorms are concerned. But i watched it also can wet and it was nice to see The steelers in action for the second thursday in a row. And i'll start off with the quarterbacks backup quarterback The to that people are constantly arguing over on social media on talk shows and that's the performances of mason rudolph who started in played most of the first-half in dwayne haskins. Who played the rest of the first half in. I guess into the fourth quarter. If i remember my thailand correctly and i mean not not to sound wishy washy not to sound like implying it right down the middle. Because i'm i don't do that. I always tell you how i feel. And i gotta tell you and what do i care you know. Why would i hide my opinion on this. I thought they both looked okay. Good i mean not just okay but really good and when i say both talking about dwayne haskins even mason rudolph look pretty good. I know if you don't if you've already made up your mind about about mason rudolph you're you're going to say this guy is crazy. Maybe i am but he completed. What eight of nine passes for seventy seven yards He had some bad luck minna camps penalties maybe could have kept some drives going.

"Obviously we had there was no hayward there was no lulu. There is a no to it and he was asked about the death. He said they he feels that they have some quality young players on that defensive front and he named one in particular that is seventh round. Pick from the twenty twenty nfl. Draft out of nebraska. Carlos davis he said davis has been getting as he put it quote varsity reps and he's been taking advantage of those he brought up the turnover. That happened the interception. It was davis pressure. That equated to the hurried throw or the misfired. Throw which equated to the interception so kudos to carlos davis you get called out by my talent for the right reason. You're doing something right. He was then asked by about trae. Turner trade turner was acquired. A fill in that right guard spot where david decastro was when he was released he and he talked glowingly about turner's communication. He is the ultimate communicator. He's doing things that as tomlin put it. He does not necessarily have to do. And it's a situation where he's helping younger players like kendrick. Green the center The kendra green internal will be talking at length after practices to talk about what went right. What went wrong. What they what they could have done differently. Just communicating so good news there from mike tomlin regarding trae turner najji harris. Who played in the first game. I did well. Didn't play a ton of plays but did get his feet wet so to speak was asked if since he played and played well and it seemed like he was getting acclimated to the professional game. Rather quickly woody scale back najji harris's workload in the answer was a swift. No he's not going to be scaling that back. I wouldn't be shocked if anything he is adding to the workload as the preseason progresses to get him ready if he takes his foot off the gas at won't be until the last preseason game he was asked about kendrick green in how he's doing and kendra green the asked basically should we read into the fact that he started the week one game it looks. I'm not sorry not the week when the first preseason game. He's going to probably start on thursday. Should we read into it. Tomlin smiled and said i would. Now you can take that with a grain of salt. He went on to talk about how kendrick greens doing a tremendous job that his work ethic that his ability to understand to grasp concepts is varsity level. I feel like the maybe this is just my interpretation but the way that tomlin answered that question and spoke about kendrick green makes me feel that this job is done. Meaning it's his job to lose now. If kendra green goes out there and in the snaps are flying all over the field. He's missing assignments he doesn't understand what's going on. He's missing coverages. That can change. But as of right now in my opinion this is kendra greens job to lose whether he wins it or not is up to him. So that's going to be something to watch for sure. "Too old for this gins There you go. But now i it was. I cannot wait to hear him. Say i loved him talking about carlin high. I loved talking to about crafting. And of course tony nephew. Ma boy is from there Steeler nation says cowards. A great guy. He's a guy you like automatically and he was It was one of those things that when you came in your like. Who's this guy with a great mustache. That's it he's youngest thirty four. I remember as. I think i was twenty. And he's like thirty four. I'm like wow who is a scott and he comes in and he was the opposite of chuck knoll man he he comes in and he's got the spirit he's in your face. Kevin greene who he brought up during a speech. Thank you for bringing that In kevin's wife tara was there in. He brought up. Kevin and kevin would talk about how he would like. You always knew you're going to get sprayed by him when he talked. And i think kevin was pretty close to the same age. Bill cowher was when when he arrived in. Pittsburgh is capitalism draft. Pick in a draft. Pick an eighty five so he's probably about two years younger when he played for our two or three years younger. So you know that. But bill cower i love him i love that. He talked about his family. I love that. He talked about if he goes too long. The musical become come on. But he's married to a musician and he's used to talk over music. And they showed veronica cower there his his second wife and then he talked about his family but he talked extensively about his late wife. Kay and called him his wife called her his wife and that was important to me and it was great to see how much veronica in the crowd was acknowledging bill acknowledging his his late wife the who we got to know so much in pittsburgh because when she passed away at hurt so bad because she was very much steeler to they always talk to k- cower in the at those games and she was such a class act so he talked about. His parents talked about k. Talked about his loving family and it was just. It was great and he talked about. Dan really talk about. Nc state to Talked about a lot of things and you listen to that speech in you. This is the whole crux of all three of these guys. You've listened to those three speeches and you actually. I've said this to myself. Watch those speeches. I said thank goodness that. I'm a pittsburgh steelers fan because you feel as a pittsburgh steelers fan watching those speeches like that. You're great football fan. Not the you're great football fan but the you are there. Supporting one of the premier franchises in the league. That has something in the rooney family in bill. Cower talked about this like paulo. Doc about this in so did donnie. Shell talked about the culture of the organization and how it was about family and doing the right thing in that. Was it in. You feel like you almost feel a little bit conceit. when you're pittsburgh steelers fan and the reason you feel some conceit because i kind of feel bad for cincinnati bengals fans because they don't have the culture and you see this history and you listen to these guys what it meant to be a pittsburgh steeler. Now you're in the hall of fame but what it meant to go into that building to be a part of that organization that kind of rubs off on the famous. That's how i feel being a fan of the organization that has those kind of individuals because those three men that got in yesterday in that fourth man. That is getting in today. Allen fanta are four quality human beings and you feel like you're rooting for quality people that work for quality family. That's why you feel that. Little bit of a steeler conceit. You know what. There's nothing wrong with that. Steeler conceit hashtag steeler conceit. It's okay. I know there's part of us that Feel like oh we should win. Every year i get that too. They probably felt like that to that team. Probably felt like they should win. Every year they had the players to do so but one of thirty two every year. The percentages that's tough percentage but it just doesn't hang up it. It's the fact that the two best organizations in super bowl history have won six out of fifty five. That's pretty remarkable. But now you take the steelers and the patriots and he put them together and you say twelve out of fifty five. That's two franchises. Yeah you're in the league of franchises but when you watch those speeches man there was a sense of pride. I kind of felt like us a steeler fans. We were getting into big watching those guys in. Look at all the years. We rooted for donnie. Shell if you're live back then i did i. I was alive. When donnie shells ricky. I wasn't paying attention to you. But i remember donnie shell. When he retired. I remember him from all of the eighties. Late in the seventies. i gotta say this. Christopher eleven i had a security guard run up and shake my hand atlanta airport because he saw my steelers logo was so proud to be from pittsburgh. I had tommy. Maddox make a beeline for me. I was wearing a suit. But i just said hey. We're glad you're in pittsburgh. That's all i said he. He made a beeline over me. I didn't ask for an autograph. I just got a handshake from and that was after his two thousand two season and you know the the players appreciate the fans. The fans revere the players it is a great family. So whether you're a part of the steeler player family. The stewart coaching family. The fan family all of steeler nation. I mean the feel like they're united together. I walked into I walked into a business meeting the other day and one that i wasn't a part of but they asked me the one guy that was there. Sixteen to three in the annual hall of fame game again that was supposed to take place in twenty twenty but had to be put on hold as all preceding once last year due to the pandemic but it was nice to see some football last night and for a packed crowd. The preseason opener the lifter and my opinion on the game was that was your typical. Preseason game i didn't really blow me away As far as the performances. But these games. Charlie purdue i kind of joked on twitter on thursday towards the end of the game that they were making a fictional priests fictional Preseason game for some movie or tv show. The final score will be sixteen three because that would be true to life. Because that's what these scores almost always are pretty sure that i should have researched this but i i have a pretty decent memory. The last time pittsburgh played in any hall of fame game back in twenty fifteen again. That sean His career ended by twenty. Seo by the way. I think that game was fourteen to three. I'm not mistaken so you know. Preseason is is rarely rarely pretty and you really get. you know. An last night's game thursday night's game was no indicate. No exception and it was you had to play was kind of sloppy but it wasn't sloppy in terms of penalties just mainly in terms of performance. And it's understandable. You had very few starters. On both sides the ball in the game for either team and yet players obviously sh- shuttling in and out all for quarter. So it's hard to really get rhythm and cohesion and anything in as you know there's no game plan on on offense or defense is in most preseason games except for maybe the dress rehearsal and even that there really isn't a whole heck of a lot anymore so You know you have to basically watch performances and base things off of that as much as you can. Even then you have to take a lot of that stuff with a grain of salt. But i was. I was pleased with seventy individual performances. And you know not so pleased with others but again it's it's not something. I'm gonna pay a final decision on about any of these guys. It's too early. You know. And i thought nashi harris looked pretty good in his In his debut is professional. Football debut seven carries for twenty two yards not not really productive. But iran tuffy ran hard. Moved the pile out watching a game and showing some friends one famous now famous run did he had. I guess maybe it was his first carrier second carrier. It was the first hour carry. I think it was from six yards and he and he pushed a pile and that was a pretty cool to see because that was one thing they were missing. Last year is is the the ability to do such things on running plays. It seemed like they were. They were more passing than they were aggressive on. Running plays in twenty twenty and that was a big part of why they're offense kinda faltered down the stretch in it became more mostly a short passing offense by the end of last year. So it was nice to see. And i'm not gonna lie. When a cannon dodgy. I was looking forward to his debut for months. I couldn't wait to see this guy in action. I don't know what happens. The closer we got to the game. We got the thursday nights kickoff. The more hesitant. I got for him even play even though you know obviously i'm not i'm not paying his salary or anything but as a fan. I didn't want to see them get hurt. Because i think he's. i'm not the first person. Say this but i think he might be the most important draft pick for their offense at least in terms of offense since maybe markey's pouty came along in twenty ten. I think he's really that important. He could be that important for them this year. And he's i think he's head and shoulders above any rennie bags. They have and i think they have big plans for him. As far as being a three dau running back mostly In their offense. So i think he he has They have big plans for him. So i was kinda hesitant. But he's a rookie. And you can't let a rookie set out for four preseason games or three or whatever you know you play from moving forward so he has to get action Yes get touches. He has to get a feel for for what. It's like to play in a professional setting as mike tomlin said in the press conference prior to thursday's game so if let's get some work in and again it wasn't anything you know that you're going to remember ever..

"And welcome back steeler fans. Welcome back to part two of this episode of the steelers hangover. I am tony nephew. And he is shannon white and he in the sky is bad signal. Bad singer with brian davis. He's not with us tonight but he'll be back next week in the meantime Shannon i were having some great football talk but the live chat leash. It's her birthday today. And he says ramon foster most enraged dealer of the last decade. I tend to agree with that. What do you think shannon can't argue that he's definitely up their own he is. I mean like. I said what a great value. Yeah established order all emirs reliable and just a a a great teammate. And and you know citizen as well so he he checks all the boxes and those guys were just really easy to root for absolutely the one the one regret. I'm sure he has to regret more than we do that. He never got to a super bowl. I would love to see him at media day at a super bowl. I think he said it's such a great personality. I think he's going to go on eventually. See retired yes. So i think he he might. He's working in media right now. I think he's going to go on to bigger and better things in nba. Really maybe even locally maybe on steelers broadcast. And it'd be a president. I could see him someday. alongside maybe bob pompey anti for preseason games or maybe even you know the regular season games and radio network who knows but yeah i really think he's going to be a fixture and local pittsburgh sports media for many years to come about them x. Landman know guys like touch and ask woefully and they really know their stuff. They have the personality to go with it and they become fixtures and of course they're rich they're gonna retire with especially with touches healthy. She's and i'm like you. I can see foster because he's very very good. I should've and i could see him sliding in there. Because he he loves the steelers and yeah and you could tell you know. You can't fake that. And so i think we all can enjoy that. And appreciate his left for the the franchise you know. They give him a shot. They give him a chance and You know he earned it You know he appreciates that and hitting his legacy is such that legacy matters. Yeah he'll always be alleged around here. So i really am looking forward to see what he has in store for his post football career. Let's move on to our second topic and that's more more nostalgia stuff and more fun stuff. I think that's the title of tonight show which still have the top schedule on paper heading into twenty twenty one although that doesn't always work out that way but on paper it's a really tough schedule and if the steelers are going to have a great season and we're all hoping that they do make it back to the postseason maybe when when division again but certainly have a go further than they did. Last year are going to have some memorable games along the way. So there's certainly a lot of candidates on here unless so i'll start with you shannon If you had to pick one game to start that could really. When they gained it could really proved to be a memorable either. Victory for them or Just a memorable night or day along along the way to victory. Which which one would be. I i you would pick. I guess i'm just anxious For the first game against the bills because the by the time they played the bills last season they would already starting to everybody then figured out that short passing game. Everybody knew they couldn't run the ball. And then you know they. They didn't have bud depre- right had Slim's other injuries on the inside linebacker position and i don't think that they give their a true showing of what they were capable right and i am. Buffalo's established themselves. They're the real. Do right what they're going to be a contender in afc and have to open their opened the season in buffalo he will learn a little bit about How commanded our the stiller's to run in the football. And that's why i was so surprised to see him become so active suddenly within the last few weeks because i haven't fallen them for like a couple of years and i forgot that was even following him because he never really tweet much of anything. Let's say like you know twitter as associate say like thirty seconds thirty seven seconds ago this tweet and it already have like seven re tweets nine comments twenty eight likes so i mean you know he has his own the palm of his hand and he's making all these these tweeting all this stuff and he's just trying to get a reaction out of us that's what he's trying to do so he has all these middle aged people like me.
