And I think that's something that you you can't take for granted. That's chemistry that's getting punched in the mouth and punched in the face and still going and going through all of that, and the Browns there early, early, early early. Oh, early. In the process of that, but because of the team and its history, and it's not because they're from Cleveland. It's not because the name of the Browns if you think about the franchise and its history His instability there, and for the first time, it looks like there might be stability. And so that's why to look at the Browns. It's easy to kind of teeter and go. Oh, If this doesn't work out If they get punched in the mouth and punched in the face. Are they gonna start punching each other? Not literally but figuratively. Are they going to start beefing? Of the expectations going to, you know, kind of knocked them out. Former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen is calling legendary coach Phil Jackson a racist. 1994 playoff series against the Knicks. Jackson famously called the last shot for Tony Ku coach instead of pit them. Pippa now says it was a racial move to boost crew coach. He also says that when Jackson coached the Lakers, he tries to expose Kobe Bryant by belittling them. Yeah, play the William Barr soundbite. It's BS. Really. "He did the GQ article. And the GQ article has now raised some feathers because he took the shot at Kevin Durant saying, Kevin Durant's not LeBron James. I talked about that. Last week, actually, where he's right in. LeBron James is one of one or one of two or one of three of the greatest basketball players ever, and Kevin Durant wonderful, sensational, but does not have the same. Credentials. The same resumes LeBron James, Okay. Well. Scotty also believes that in 1994, as documented in the last dance When he did not get the call for the final shot in the Eastern Conference playoffs against the Knicks and Tony Tony KU coach dead. Of course he was unhappy. This is the infamous moment where Scottie Pippen refuses to go back in Everybody is horrified at him angry with him. He then has to tearfully apologize as the Bulls had lost that game to the locker room afterwards. And this is kind of one of those seminal moments of Scotty's career and of the Bulls dynasty. He did not go and refused to go into the last seconds of the game because the play was not called for him in the GQ article, he says that he believes it was racially motivated. Dan presses him on this and Scotty will not back down and Scotty is in a really bizarre defensive mode about all of this. And Look, That part is, uh, it's a slippery It's a slippery slope to go down because do you or I know whether Phil Jackson's racist. Of course not. Do we have the interpersonal relationships or incidents that Scotty has Years, having played with Phil Jackson. Of course not. So Scotty saw things we are never privy to. Scotty heard things we're not privy to. Scotty had a relationship with a superior that we do not have. So I can't summarily dismiss somebody's experiences with somebody that I've never had with that person and have only witnessed from afar. My instinct is not that Phil Jackson's racist because Phil Jackson has coached a lot of players that were not white, and this is the first time I've ever heard this and he's coached a lot of great players who are not white and has given them a lot of accolades. And a lot of support and a lot of trust and a lot of control, and we've never heard this before. So the Michael Jordans and the shacks and the Kobe's and the scores of other African American players that have played for Phil Jackson have never said this. Only Scotty has said this so I'm not here to say Scott has experience was not right because I didn't have that experience. But my instinct is that this is out of bounds because nobody else has ever said this about Phil Jackson. Correct. I have not heard this. If it has been said brought to my Bring this to my attention. I have not heard this. It is certainly not his reputation. But this is what's interesting. That's going to be talked about a lot today. And what do you do? Trash, Scotty, because Phil is not a racist. I mean, there's only so far you can go with that part of this conversation. I found this more interesting. Dan brought up this point. I thought it was a very good point by Dan That In the NBA finals. They ran a play for Steve Kerr to take the final shot. Steve Kerr nailed it and Michael Jordan didn't think it was racist. So To me the most. The most interesting part of Scotty yesterday with Dan Patrick was that he pulled back the curtain, at least from his perspective of Michael Did this routinely That the way the cameras worked, and the way the media worked in the way the director worked. Uh, it's one of the I mean, there are so many great things about the Pippen story. The way he evolved into a one of the top players in NBA history. It's one of the greatest trades in Chicago sports history. It's a draft day trade where Jerry Krause knew about him, That's everyone. Gives crossed the credit. He drafted olden pollen ease and with the intention that Seattle wanted him and Seattle was going to draft Scottie Pippen, and they made that deal. And they switch hats. There's a legendary picture where they're sitting together. And who knew no one knew. You know, Michael, Here's Michael and Michael doesn't have enough help, and he's got a team of full of Guys who were doing drugs in 1984 85. Like he was doing that in in in international play when he was 7 16 17 years old. It may have been aside from his vision and his height. "Live from Tokyo on NBC came in this morning. And I wondered what I was going to get out of Scottie Pippen and I've known Scotty. I was, You know their for their championship runs, but I didn't really know him because At the time it was Phil and it was Dennis Rodman. And, of course, Michael. And Scotty. You might have him on occasionally after a game on SportsCenter, but maybe once or twice through that 66 years when they won titles. And I worked with him as well on ABC when we did NBA coverage with Mark Jackson, but I didn't once again. I didn't really know Scotty. And when he had these comments, I thought, okay. There are a couple of things that stood out if he wants to be critical of Kevin Durant and Kevin Durant style with LeBron make them better. Different. Kevin Durant's not a team player. Okay, That's just his opinion. I mean, he's earned that right, Uh, one of great players of all time. He wants to be critical. You bring in LeBron James, and then it's going to be a bigger story than what it really is. To me. It just stood out What happened in 1994? With 1.8 seconds to go in a playoff game with the Knicks. And Can I understand from a basketball perspective? You're the star player. Michael Jordan is not there. It's my moment here. I got the opportunity to be the go to guy. And then Phil Jackson. Gave Tony Ku coach the opportunity to hit the game winning shot which, by the way he did And he said it was a racial move to give him a rise. I just I wanted to have him on just to see if he wanted to clarify. He doubled down on that. And there was no hesitation and, you know, I didn't know that had gotten to that point with he and Phil Jackson that he he's sitting, you know, citing when Phil left The Lakers and wrote a book and then had things to say about Kobe sold him out and then went back. And, you know, I just thought he was disloyal now, but to say it was a racial move. That you're going to Get the white guy the ball. And in that moment, I It felt like Scotty was confusing The two that Hey, this is my moment. But you're not giving me that moment. But Tony Ku coach, the White guy gets to take the shot. That's where I thought OK, so we know what he's talking about. Does he know he's calling Phil Jackson Racist? And he didn't back off at all. The fact that Phil didn't design the play that Steve Kerr hit the game winning shot against Utah in the NBA Finals. That was Michael playing to the cameras to make it seem like he was the one who was designing that play. Uh, You know, the Jordan wanting to play baseball, a selfish moved by him. Said. That's who Michael Jordan was. Um And the fact that they knew there was a documentary going on in that last season, and Jordan playing to the camera. You know, as much as Scotty says, You know, I've moved on. He hasn't. There's an awful lot there to unpack, you know? See, It's fairly incredible foresight, though, By Michael Jordan, too. Play to the camera in that moment and then wait 20 years to reveal it. Well, I think Michael didn't know he had the rights to the documentary. Or did he know Paul Michael Jordan agreed with NBA films to do a documentary that season, but he had total power control of when it's going to be released and held it for decades until the 30 for 30 crew got him to do it. Mhm. Yeah. You know the criticism of Kevin Durant. You know, it's like, Okay, So what? But you know to be there in that moment when he got traded on draft night. It's just wild because we're thinking nobody knew much about Scottie Pippen. I knew more about old an Impala knees from college and then there they are, there were interviewing them.
