They might look. Car was wound up last night. Yes, he was stories about Tony KU coach going to the bathroom, trying to keep it clean. That's a funny story. It's a great story. Carm tells it so well and He was on fire last night and for like, Wanna let Sylvia were Kyle Fuller Guys. Yes, Karma's like, stop, not elite, he said. I understand that on the radio, but not in front of us. Everybody at the restaurant, though people looking over, peering over their secret service or security detail could cover Danny. I don't understand. Like there's people just looking at our table just like what's going on over there, You know, that's what I love about Karma, like the smallest thing could get him excited. And then with the biggest thing, he'll stay calm. You know, like something tragic could happen. Not tragic. You know, something crazy would happen comes like, well, it's okay. We'll see. How is it? Then? All of a sudden, he orders blue cheese dressing, and they give them ranch and he goes 0 to 60. Yes. Yeah, I don't. Yeah, like I do. There's a sound bite somewhere in the system of someone trying to attack our window. It's like throwing something at the window and comments like Hey, look at this guy. He's in front of our window. Thrones them. What sort? What's with this guy? I'm with you. I'm with you. But then if he misses his pen, Matthew loses his pen. He just goes bananas or Danny place that mentions the word Radiohead. He goes insane. Yeah, Let's not do that. Let's not do that. He doesn't like that. But, yeah, great time had by all but then you know someone happen to come over and just push Karm, who gets the lamp Shade Award for last evening's festivities. I was drinking by myself on the back patio outside. Pretty awesome. It was awesome. Yeah, at a great time, And then I got to meet the governor. Yes, you did. I had the question of about something. The governor. You did something that really bothered me. Yeah, I don't think you should have confronted him. He was very nice about it. Well, he had to be because he didn't know who you are. I mean, you introduced yourself, but you could be any maniac. But when I introduced myself, what did he say? Oh, my God. I'm a fan of you guys in the morning. Take that. Yes, I need your vote. You right away? Yes. He saw you didn't see his Derek Kaplan saw you as a vote. He obviously doesn't listen all the time when I go. Thanks a lot, Pritzker. But I told them why I say that. Yeah. He's like, Let me explain to you Yeah, And he gave an explanation. He did. Yeah. It was good to see him there. Everybody else That man didn't expect him to see See him there, but he was there with a guy to Ravens jersey. You had originally, uh No, I was nine and eight. That was my official. You could check the sheet. I think I Danny still has it nine and eight. And you were 89. Right? That's correct. I was nine and eight that's still either one of those are still good enough for the playoffs. I just don't know again. The schedule is tough. That's why I had an 89 and again as we mentioned yesterday, very odd quirk in the schedule where the Bears are home Road home Road at home writing like They don't have two consecutive home games are two consecutive road games. On the schedule. Correct. Every other game is only road. I don't know how that happened. I don't ever remember a time The Bears went through that as a scandal schedule. Don't remember that mats, not speaking today. I would love if Matt walked to the podium tomorrow when he's speaking a It's not like it For today. Special coaches speaking right now. I just like to announce Justin Fields is the start. Going forward. That's it. I want to ask you about the pressure ratio is one thing about what we're talking about freaking out as bears fans because of how poorly the Bears played. I'd like to talk to. You also cap about the pressure that Maggie has, or does he have pressure at all? I don't know the answer that question, right. Everyone's like he's on the hot seat. Well, if he's already been privately told, here's an extension, just don't we're not going to advertise this right now. You know the fan base. They're not happy. That's it. "To organize and and and come together as a team. I mean, that's that's judging everything on paper like we see the chemistry that the Chiefs have We see it all. They've won. They've lost through it all. They've been competitive. One of the best teams have not the best team over the past several seasons. You know, going to an a F C championship game, then going to the Super Bowl in winning, then going to the Super Bowl and losing its like, okay, one of the Chiefs going to fall off or when are they going to win the Super Bowl next? And I think that's something that you you can't take for granted. That's chemistry that's getting punched in the mouth and punched in the face and still going and going through all of that, and the Browns there early, early, early early. Oh, early. In the process of that, but because of the team and its history, and it's not because they're from Cleveland. It's not because the name of the Browns if you think about the franchise and its history His instability there, and for the first time, it looks like there might be stability. And so that's why to look at the Browns. It's easy to kind of teeter and go. Oh, If this doesn't work out If they get punched in the mouth and punched in the face. Are they gonna start punching each other? Not literally but figuratively. Are they going to start beefing? Of the expectations going to, you know, kind of knocked them out. Are they going to be smelling themselves too much of the Browns beat the Chiefs on Sunday, which is possible. Are the Browns going? Think data new thing on the block. They're going to have to come back to Earth. That's why all of this is fun. Fun to figure out Fun to see. Fun to see how it all plays out. I just don't think the Browns ain't sneaking up on anybody. You know, Matt, I ask you that as well. Since we talked about surprises in the NFL this season is their team that you think might kind of sneak up on, folks. Yeah, I'm real happy about the fact that it's actually I mean, this is one of those we were talking earlier about. People need to come in and put their biases aside. I'm coming in straight and hot and let you know I am a Washington football team fan. But I think that they have a really good chance to surprise mainly due to the fact that the defense is so electric. I have been struggling to follow that team since all of their off the field issues. But last year's defense with Chase Young and Montez sweat was so electric I couldn't help but watch and now we have a quarterback, which I mean, he's fits. Magic ORF. It's tragic, but He can get it done, and we have this very if the if the team Is good with their cohesion and they're able to play to their capability. I think that they could be a real sleeper. Not even in the division. But ultimately, the whole NFC. You saying, I think I mean, I think that they are potentially a playoff team. I do maintain that the NFC Kurt NFC East curse. Israel, So they're kind of not likely because of that, but I think that there is a likelihood they're going to make playoffs and I think they can. I think this year they can win. Hmm. One playoff game. Maybe. Okay, let's see if You know, Washington can pick up where they left off. Last year we saw Hi, Nikki out there. We saw losing team with a losing record in the playoffs. And, yeah, I think I think Washington will do better. Than what they did last year. And you know, before I get out of here and in half to roll out, there's a couple things I have to mention. First of all, if you did not know The big 12. They suck in everybody up, Okay? BYU, Cincinnati, Houston, Central Florida They will all be making their way to the big 12. It's going to take a couple of years. This is no surprise. We talked about this last Next thing you know, we got the A C C or Excuse me the A C. They're gonna be out here just trying to snatch up their own school so This is just like one big. I need this. This is one big land grab in college football and it's going to continue. This is not going to be any slowdown. In other news tomorrow. How about this? We're going to have another basketball Hall of Fame induction ceremony. Why? I know a few months ago we saw Kevin Garnett. We saw some Duncan going into the Hall of Fame. That was last year's class. They had to wait. Tomorrow. You got Chris Bosh, Paul Pierce, Ben Wallace. Chris Webber, J Right. Rick Adelman, Val Ackerman, Yolanda Griffin, Lauren Jackson. Tony Ku coach, Uh, you know, as a international committee personnel all going into the basketball Hall of Fame, so congratulations to them and someone who is going into the The back guy. Basketball Hall of someone who's going into the The Villain Hall of Fame is no one other than Trey Young of the Atlanta Hawks. Why This is supposed to be the off season, right? It is. The W W E Was in Madison Square Garden tonight. And I just saw this all over the Internet all over my timeline. That tray Young showed up in Madison Square Garden. To play the villain role. Yes, Trae Young was at a professional wrestling event. The W W E. He was out there hanging out with the bad guys, and he was egging on the fans in New York City. In Madison Square Garden. I say kudos to trade young. I think it's cool is how that he's embracing the villain role, and I think it's just it adds so much juice and entertainment value. Even if the W W E is purely entertainment. Betray Young has a great sense of humor. I know Nick fans may hate his guts, but I think it's a cool last thing of what he's doing. Listen, folks, I hope you have a wonderful weekend. Thank you to producer Matt Essick, making sure that everything runs smooth. Enjoy the college football enjoy the football on Sunday. A man is going to be so much going on that we can talk about on Monday, and I cannot wait. Be safe.

"And Phil Jackson, by the way, will be 76 in September. Um Even two weeks from now, will anyone Care believe Think it has anyone's opinion of Phil Jackson changed. Because Scottie Pippen said that I guess it's possible. But more likely the opinions formed on Phil Jackson. Were formed a long time ago. And aren't likely to have changed. Because of this revelation from Scottie Pippen. More likely he's trying to sell books, get some excitement going at his name in the paper. Get a buzz circulated. And to be fair. That's why Conseco wasn't believed at the beginning is because they thought it was marketing. Right now We look at everything with the John dust I and believe it is related to marketing. He's just trying to make money. Oh, he's just playing an angle. Oh, he's just trying to get Whatever. You know he's trying to get publicity. As long as you spell my name, right? I don't care what you say that kind of thing. So I get That that sentiment is out there and that people Uh, Are Skeptical when a player Former player, especially Comes out after the fact when he has a book coming out. And says things that are controversial. There's no way to know whether that is a legitimate sentiment. And he is being honest with you. Or whether he is just trying to sell a book. And he needs juicy stories. To create the buzz. And there never will be a way. You know, it's not. It's not like a problem that can be solved. It's it's never going to be Uh, There's never going to be a solution to keeping somebody from trying to be sensationalistic in order to sell something. And so we all form our own opinions and take it with a grain of salt, or we take it to heart. Or somewhere down the scale. Between the two Because there is no way to know Was it interesting, I guess. I guess. I'm a little personally. Cooked. The whole Chicago Bulls 19 nineties. Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen. Like, Leave it alone for me. I've had enough. I got to push myself away from the table. No matter how good the food is, if you're full, your fault. That's where I am on. The 90 Bulls. Don't need to hear another thing about Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, Phil Jackson. Tony Ku coach Steve Kerr, et cetera. The list goes on. I don't need air. I'm full. I'm pushed away from the table there. But I get it that it still sells, you know. And I get it that I'm not mainstream. And if you look if you look at the Jordan brand America does not agree with me. America is very much in the Jordan camp. Still credit to him credit to his greatness credit, too. Timing. Uh, Exciting time for the NBA. And Personality and I think the singular nous to when you think about it now, LeBron is LeBron But there are a lot of good players that we celebrate in this league. And more so than there were. There were a lot of good players then too, but we celebrate them more now. So maybe that singular image of Jordan representing that entire decade and the age of those people now who are maybe Between nine and 19, then. And are now you know. 29 to 50.

"Shot that he drew up for Tony Ku coach. As a racial move. When guys are promoting books, remember what happened and it turned out a lot of it. Was a little more true. But remember Jose Canseco and all the Negative stuff. He threw out about baseball and steroids and all that and and Uh, Hypodermic needles, etcetera, and a lot of it turned out to be true and he was really mocked and scoffed. By a lot of people when He revealed a lot of stuff that it was only to sell books. And Pippen, of course. Has a book coming out and has a documentary coming out. And, uh, When Dad Patrick Uh, Yeah. Called him out, basically said By saying it was a racial move Your calling Phil Jackson a racist. Dan said. Pippen responded by saying, I don't have a problem with that. So The interesting thing in that regard. Is that we are all At the mercy of these guys again what we talked about earlier. Uh, does he believe that? Or is he trying to sell books and get his name so that people like me who are working today and saw the comments are going to talk about it the next day. Is that his goal is that all he wanted? Because what are the consequences? Really? Of Scottie Pippen, calling Phil Jackson at this point in his life. Racist. What are the consequences? Well, what happens there? "Of sort this out when he says it that that in his mind, he views it as a racial move to give Tony KU coach the opportunity hit that game winning shot. I think the bulls were down two games to none. Don't think this was a moment where you say, you know what? Let me give it to Tony coaches, White. Phil's trying to win I got. That's just my interpretation of it. Scotty says. Well, you weren't in the locker room. He's right. I wasn't you were looking at this from the far he's right about that. To say that Phil didn't design the play for Steve Kerr and use Jordan as a decoy. Go back because Michael was playing to the cameras he was about the documentary was doing I just can't imagine that he's going. Hey, um, I'm going to design a play. And Mike is going to called it. Mike is going to be the one that designs the play for the cameras for the documentary that we didn't even know it would ever air As Mike had control over the documentary and who knew that it was going to surface and he was going to do a 10 part series. But in Scotty's mind, and that's the important part of trying to understand this. I can look at this from a logical perspective from somebody who was there with the Chicago Bulls, but not in the inner circle with the Chicago Bulls. And say logically, that doesn't make sense that he's going to pick Tony KU coach because he's white. He picked Tony Ku coach because he was the right person to take the shot. Not the white person, the right person. And he ended up hitting the shot. And Scotty didn't even celebrate. It was a selfish move on Scotty's part. Just like Scotty said. Former Chicago Bulls star Scottie Pippen is calling legendary coach Phil Jackson a racist. 1994 playoff series against the Knicks. Jackson famously called the last shot for Tony Ku coach instead of pit them. Pippa now says it was a racial move to boost crew coach. He also says that when Jackson coached the Lakers, he tries to expose Kobe Bryant by belittling them. Yeah, play the William Barr soundbite. It's BS. Really. Pippen sat on his ass because they didn't. They didn't ask him to take the final shot. They asked who coach to take, which he made it. He made the shot by the way to win the game. Uh And now Pippen's going to say they didn't choose me because I'm black and he's white. What a bunch of nonsense. Mhm. That's what I think, too. That's what I think. Yeah, but I thought that's what I think we've done. I think that to know even though you didn't ask Korea, I didn't ask. Absolutely 100%. All right. Thanks. Yul Brenner Appreciate it, though. "He did the GQ article. And the GQ article has now raised some feathers because he took the shot at Kevin Durant saying, Kevin Durant's not LeBron James. I talked about that. Last week, actually, where he's right in. LeBron James is one of one or one of two or one of three of the greatest basketball players ever, and Kevin Durant wonderful, sensational, but does not have the same. Credentials. The same resumes LeBron James, Okay. Well. Scotty also believes that in 1994, as documented in the last dance When he did not get the call for the final shot in the Eastern Conference playoffs against the Knicks and Tony Tony KU coach dead. Of course he was unhappy. This is the infamous moment where Scottie Pippen refuses to go back in Everybody is horrified at him angry with him. He then has to tearfully apologize as the Bulls had lost that game to the locker room afterwards. And this is kind of one of those seminal moments of Scotty's career and of the Bulls dynasty. He did not go and refused to go into the last seconds of the game because the play was not called for him in the GQ article, he says that he believes it was racially motivated. Dan presses him on this and Scotty will not back down and Scotty is in a really bizarre defensive mode about all of this. And Look, That part is, uh, it's a slippery It's a slippery slope to go down because do you or I know whether Phil Jackson's racist. Of course not. Do we have the interpersonal relationships or incidents that Scotty has Years, having played with Phil Jackson. Of course not. So Scotty saw things we are never privy to. Scotty heard things we're not privy to. Scotty had a relationship with a superior that we do not have. So I can't summarily dismiss somebody's experiences with somebody that I've never had with that person and have only witnessed from afar. My instinct is not that Phil Jackson's racist because Phil Jackson has coached a lot of players that were not white, and this is the first time I've ever heard this and he's coached a lot of great players who are not white and has given them a lot of accolades. And a lot of support and a lot of trust and a lot of control, and we've never heard this before. So the Michael Jordans and the shacks and the Kobe's and the scores of other African American players that have played for Phil Jackson have never said this. Only Scotty has said this so I'm not here to say Scott has experience was not right because I didn't have that experience. But my instinct is that this is out of bounds because nobody else has ever said this about Phil Jackson. Correct. I have not heard this. If it has been said brought to my Bring this to my attention. I have not heard this. It is certainly not his reputation. But this is what's interesting. That's going to be talked about a lot today. And what do you do? Trash, Scotty, because Phil is not a racist. I mean, there's only so far you can go with that part of this conversation. I found this more interesting. Dan brought up this point. I thought it was a very good point by Dan That In the NBA finals. They ran a play for Steve Kerr to take the final shot. Steve Kerr nailed it and Michael Jordan didn't think it was racist. Scotty so well, how do you know that? He said. Well, Michael is said That you know if I'm not open, I'm going to pass to you. This is your shot. Europan, Steve. Here was Scottie Pippen's response to that follow up. I thought in the huddle, Mike says. I'm going to throw you the ball. You'll be open and that the felon that and Phil had nothing to do with that, and You don't want to get this show started because it'll take us a long time. You know, All those cameras are sitting in that heart of who they was working for. The NBA. You know who Michael was speaking to when he said that right? That was that was plan. I was speaking to the to the camera that wasn't Speaking out of what we're going to have to do what the player is gonna be that was speaking to the camera. Head. John had John Stockton not came down. Trust me. But that was building his own documentary because he knew he was controlling the cameras. You understand English? Yeah. Okay, so all those cameras that was working We're working, basically for Michael Jordan. Not, but it's goggle bulls, but they were doing the come fly with me. The air Jordan videos. That's what it was it That was not naturally spoken. Okay, that was rehearsed. I found this interesting because of my experience watching the last dance. Remember how many times I said this is It's good television. But it's a falsified narrative Well. Should say falsified its one narrative. It's a specific narrative. And that's that was the part that that left me wanting more and left me critical of it. Was that it was basically a 10 part Legacy piece to burnish. Michael Jordan is the greatest player of all time. That's what it was. It was. It was Michael's vanity Project. They needed. The yes from Michael to build the last dance, and they did it wonderfully. And they did it without most people realizing this is only one side of the story meant to make Michael look like the God and everybody else look like peons next to that. But here is Scotty clearly kind of burned about all of that. Saying that they're working for Michael. There were all of this stuff was working in tandem with building Michael's legacy. So To me the most. The most interesting part of Scotty yesterday with Dan Patrick was that he pulled back the curtain, at least from his perspective of Michael Did this routinely That the way the cameras worked, and the way the media worked in the way the director worked. He was going to make sure it all looked the way he wanted it to look. And that's where we get the flu game where some people will argue he wasn't sick from Bad pizza poise into pizza in Utah, he was sick from being hungover. After you know, staying up all night and drinking. And that that certainly isn't as heroic as the flu game. And so.

"50. When we last left Scottie Pippen, Scottie Pippen in a wide ranging interview with gentlemen's quarterly Said a lot of stuff while uh, sipping on and pimping his very own brand bourbon. Other thing. They got the headlines and the interest of Kevin Durant is when Scottie Pippen said that Kevin Durant did not know how to play team basketball. Hell in comparison to what he said on today's Dan Patrick show. Dropping bombs. Kevin Durant, that was tame stuff. Bam, Scottie Pippen. The floor is all yours, bro. Because we are backing away from this. Help me understand the GQ article where you talked about the 1994 playoff game when You refused to go back in the game and fill set up the play for Tony Ku coach. Well, I mean, it's not much to be said if you go back and look at one Scottie Pippen in at the Bulls, and when Tony Ku coach notables and who deserved the last shot of the game. No, no, no, I understand that, Scotty, I'm just going by what you said. You said you need to read between the fine lines. And then you go on to say it was a racial move to give him Tony KU coach arrive. So I mean, if you knew that Scottie Pippen have been with the Bulls from 87 bellowed through the Pistons. And every other team. That we had to get to those three championships when you give Scotty Pippen one opportunity to get a last second shot without Michael Jordan, like one year without Michael Jordan. But if you talk to Phil about this because it by saying a racial move, then you're you're calling fill a racist. I don't got a problem with that. Do you think Phil was or is Oh, yeah. Yeah. Whoa, man, weren't you? Whoa! Wow. What? My man is tripping Scotty trip in hell. Whoa! Oh, whoa. But you want to know what's Wilder that basically said that Phil Jackson is a racist, and that's why he would give you the ball. Even though I'm remembering correctly, there was a while ago. I believe Scottie Pippen miss two consecutive shots before that, that time out, and before that play that Phil Jackson designed to give the ball to Tony Ku coach could be wrong. I don't think that I am but you know it was wild. What He just said that that was wild. He also said that the reason Michael Jordan passed the ball to Steve Kerr was because he knew the cameras were on him. He did it for the show, Michael Jeffrey Jordan, somebody who has more confidence in himself that any person does in himself on the planet. Gave the ball to Steve Kerr because he thought he would make great theater. Go home. Scottie Pippen, you drunk? Wait, seriously. Sure, That whole thing was about that whole conversation with Kerr. Was all about a documentary according to Corner Scarry. I mean, talk about I mean, we've always said Jordan's cool in the moment. But if high If he's thinking documentary at that point, then he's far cooler than anything in the last dance 30 years ago. The pressure, my man, four dimensional chess is played. Yeah, I had one of those Infinity stones travel back and forth like he knew it was coming, and they know Larry Levitt disagree with you. Scottie Pippen does not need to stop. Please keep going. Eventually he's going to get to the Illuminati and the Bilderberg group. And he's going to get to why there's a pyramid with an eye on it on the back of our money because he's going full, crazy ass conspiracy theorist and I love it. Damn he just straight out. He was saying, feels a racist. Any problem with that? Oh, he's and then don't just second, then bad. You say it was the stuff that he said was so crazy. We didn't even mentioned he dropped Three third person, Scottie Pippen's in there. Do that, three of them Damn three of them, And that wasn't even like that. That's that's like on Page seven. Honey, that doesn't even like who cares? Dang this dude fan. It's wee while and man he is violent. He is out in the streets without the shirt. And he is just shooting guns in the air. Like Yosemite. Sam. What yourself? What's he selling all sorts of crazy? I'm not drinking that bourbon. If it makes you talk, all spicy like that get divorced behind that stuff. I mean, he signed a bad contract. And is this is this just He's chasing money on the back end here because I mean, my goodness, I don't know, man. That's him. Just flat out embarrassing. I mean, I don't want to go to any more bulls reunion like like I'm done. You're racist. And you did it for the show. Like the two most popular guys in Chicago. He just kneecap both of them. Man. I get that Phil Jackson has had some problematic stuff, but to say that he gave the shot to Tony Ku coach because he's racist. That's to wild this blank. I've ever heard. Who's advising him. Aubrey half? Yeah, Come on. Don't mention it Tuesday. Come on, do I've been seriously let's just keep it all focused on Scottie Pippen, because yo, my man I just got here. This summer, making it hot arts. Wow. Dad is like Scotty, you weren't that great of a shooter. Bano, You're Jordan. Damn! Oh my God, A guy who was all about winning and how many rings as Phil Jackson have 10 11 10 11 like that will have a player and coach. I believe as I had 11 as a coach. And Phil Jackson allowed his According to Scottie Pippen, races, beliefs to to color his Bam, his coach should never addressed that ever. He should just never dreamed..

"Get as passionate as a get about it. And and the reason I do is because I love Scottie Pippen. I love Scottie Pippen. And it's one of the great success stories in Chicago sports history. This is a kid who wasn't even on a scholarship when he went to Central Arkansas. The story is legendary. When is the equipment guy here and then? And then? All of a sudden he has this gross spur and it's an N the high school. Any blossoms, 267 and you know the legendary draft. They trade? Uh, it's one of the I mean, there are so many great things about the Pippen story. The way he evolved into a one of the top players in NBA history. It's one of the greatest trades in Chicago sports history. It's a draft day trade where Jerry Krause knew about him, That's everyone. Gives crossed the credit. He drafted olden pollen ease and with the intention that Seattle wanted him and Seattle was going to draft Scottie Pippen, and they made that deal. And they switch hats. There's a legendary picture where they're sitting together. And who knew no one knew. You know, Michael, Here's Michael and Michael doesn't have enough help, and he's got a team of full of Guys who were doing drugs in 1984 85. Crouse's flipping that team, and he drafts Scottie Pippen and Horace Grant in the same draft. It's It's one of the greatest drafts in Chicago sports history. It's one of the greatest trades in Chicago sports history. Scottie Pippen is Top five player in Chicago sports history. He's one of the greatest winners in Chicago sports history. There's so much to love about Scotty and I talked black and black sin for Waddle Today. I talked on Friday and that he's not just an all time great. He's this revolutionary player where he played the 2020 game 2021 game. In 1990 You know that this point forward and and a guy who can guard anybody like LeBron can now like LeBron When the game's on the line, LeBron is going to guard the rose You know LeBron can guard Biggs LeBron can guard Smalls. Scottie Pippen could do it all offensively different than the ways and every guy today in some way, shape or form plays the way that Scotty revolutionized the game. Absolutely I seven time. All Star seven time all NBA player, 10 time all defensive player in the league. He was six time champion like you said, And he revolutionized the way you could use a perimeter wing. You know, you see Paul George, do what he does. Today. You see what I Leonard has done in his career and Scotty. Is that type of player. He just didn't really the way the game was played was not necessarily to utilize the skill set of a player like Scottie Pippen in that moment, like they are now and he really is the perfect three Indy type of player that every NBA teams looking at To try and find and to be your star heading into the future. So, yes, Skyping on the basketball court, You know, it's funny as a kid that grew up in the nineties like Yeah, Ask a kid who's your favorite player and every kid, says Michael Jordan. Like everyone did, But like I always felt like I had to overcompensate for my appreciation for Skyping because no one would ever point out like the reason they're winning the six titles. Yeah, they have the greatest player ever. But it's because of the partnership between MJ and Scotty's to why they were so great why they beat the Lakers why they were able to go on the runs that they were in the early nineties and like To me. Pippen has always been that player that Yeah, he should be in the conversation with top 50 players all time. Yes, He should be one of the all time greats players ever and then you get people who are those stats guys, and they just go to basketball reference com and say yes, but Scotty only averaged 16 points per game for his career. It's like that's not the whole story. The thing the stats were not the whole story was Scotty because Scotty Not only did he once lead the league in steals his defensive abilities were incredible, and then also his passing ability. He set up teammates, including Michael, including Tony Ku coach. He was a great passer and really that point forward like you said, like LeBron running the show as a forward, bringing the ball up. It was revolutionary, so this doesn't come from a place where I never liked. I love Scottie Pippen, still as a Chicago sports fan, I always tell the story, though. My Family. Luckily was in both season ticket holder before Michael was in town. So I went to games before the Bulls were even good. And just to see this guy go from an unknown n A. I a player out of central Arkansas. Into becoming this revolutionary player. I loved living through it. And on Friday we talked about what he said to GQ and he said, and I didn't love Lot of the things that, he said. And if you want to argue about Kate, the KD take I get it. It's like being in the barbershop, where someone could have a different point of view. I don't agree with what Scotty said, because I think KD did everything possible. Help that team win. But when I was most passionate about was the 1.8 2nd conversation again and that Scotty still doesn't You know, he has so much bitterness over that. And then, for the first time, I had heard him reference that he believed there was a racial motivation behind it. And N G, Kiwi said, because Tony Ku coach was the new white player. That Phil gave the play to Tony. And and.

"There's there's evidence, and there's true, um, you know, hate vitriol coming from experiences, then that's that. I'm all ears, but I need a little more than that. Then he wrote a book about Kobe Bryant. Therefore make some racist and I'm also going to need a lot more. Thanks. I've already got this on social media. Well, remember when he used the word posse years ago? Yeah, And when he was with the Knicks to me, that was more an age gap. That was just him sounding very old and racist, but others you are different. Yeah, I'm a little disappointed. Actually, I'm quite disappointed in Scottie Pippen right there. Yeah. I mean, go ahead. Quite. I need more than that. That's that's just not fair to any man or woman. You got to give me more Yeah, without anything else, anything. Other instances where we can look at and and maybe agree, it's really hard to hear it. Scotty has to say. Because now it makes us reevaluate Phil Jackson. And that's not fair to Phil Jackson. As you were saying, bt And I think Dan Patrick was trying to Duke was trying to get to the bottom of it. But the but you know, Scotty, shut him down with the You're looking at it from afar. I'm looking. I've been in the locker room. There's nothing you can do to combat that. As a journalist. There's nothing you can say. Right? Or even as a curious individual. What can you say I was I was next to him. So I know this. You're looking at it from afar. You don't know this Well, but what? What dance and maybe Dan did. So what Dan should have said I respect that. But give us an example. Scotty. Yeah, we're listening, but I think clearly Scotty was getting frustrated by the line of questioning. Well, then why did you bring it up? I don't know what I mean. He was the one who brought it up in the article. He brought it up in the article about the racial racial tones behind the move. Yeah, and, uh, I don't go on the show. It's a It's a little bit of a leap. Just just, you know, hit back slightly at Dan Patrick. It's a little bit of a leap. For him to now, making incendiary by saying if he made a racial decision, then what? You're calling him. You're calling him a racist, right? And and to your point with Scotty not being intelligent enough to like. Just cut that off, like, stop that. Yeah, it just It's still bald. And then once it snowballed, there was nowhere else for him to go. Then I know you don't know. Stop. Stop talking about this type of you know what I mean? So Um, I don't know. I mean, if someone makes a racial decision does that make them a racist? I don't know. And again, I don't even know if calling Tony coaches number is a racial decision. And if it is I'd love to know why I love to know how that's viewed as a racial racial. That's the word he used driven by race. I'm not even sure you use the word racial properly. But I get get the implication that he's been what he's basically saying is that If you could. Let's just dumb it down. He's basically saying he gave the white guy that shot over the black guy, and that's basically what that's the only thing you can deduce from somebody who's claiming that there was a racial component behind that decision. Yet when if you actually go go back, and first of all, Yeah. Scott is real. No, I don't. I don't know if he's truly wrong about Phil being a racist. That's why I want examples. And then if he is, then he is Yeah, but you got what? You got it, But you got to go back to the like The ultimate point. The point was this decision. About the shot? Yes, which is called racial. Why is it racial? Well, I'm going to refute that now, and I remember when the whole posse thing first came up, and we talked about Phil as possibly You know, being wrapped up in some some racial whatever I stereotypes. Yeah. Stereotype War war. What? Whatever. I remember saying that I'll say it again. Now for those who missed it. You have to really realize the difference between Tony Ku coach and Scottie Pippen. This one aspect of their Scotty was more explosive for better defender, Um, stronger or no doubt. One thing told me it was better passer. And the other thing that Tony did very well, and he hit a few game winning shots this year without Jordan. Aside from the shot against the Knicks, he was very adept at catching the ball. And I think there was about 1.7 or 1.8 in the game. When when, when he took the shot When Scotty elected to stay on the bench, and it was basically a catching off one FT. Shoot. There was no time to like, Come off, curl catch it square up book. And that was not Scottie Pippen. Skill set. Tony Ku coach is a matter of fact, actually did that even better than Jordan. Like he was doing that in in in international play when he was 7 16 17 years old. It may have been aside from his vision and his height. At that point, that combination, his greatest basketball asset, so Phil instinctually and I maybe I think it was 1.71 Point eight. Maybe if Mikey confirm. I know it was inside of two seconds, which means you've got to inbound it and you've got to let it go. And Tony Ku coach just flat out was better at doing that than Scottie Pippen. Yeah, so it wasn't all right. It was. There was no Racial motivation. It was let me get the guy who's going to be able to plant the foot in the ground quick and bang it in the air, and he drilled it because you did it a few times that year, agreed. I'd love that. I'd love to have here the perspective of someone else who was in that huddle and need to because that's the only way we're going to get to the bottom of it. I mean, we're not going to. We're not going to figure it out right now. BT we can speculate all around it as many as long weeks speculated around for two hours, we're not going to get to the bottom of it. Someone who was in the huddle, needs to comment on this and and again. As we said at the beginning, that's unfair to that person, right? Whoever whoever is going to be asked to comment on this and put them in a position to either confirm or deny this and because no matter what happens, somebody's looking bad. Yep. Meaning? Okay, So if you if you refute what Scotty said, you go against your teammate, But if you obviously coastline what Scotty said you were label somebody you basically co signed. Somebody erases. That's right. I mean, I know that you would agree the way you and I live. I mean, I have no problem, you know, putting a friendship on on the fridge for a little bit. If I've got to defend somebody's character that is wildly off base..

"Live from Tokyo on NBC came in this morning. And I wondered what I was going to get out of Scottie Pippen and I've known Scotty. I was, You know their for their championship runs, but I didn't really know him because At the time it was Phil and it was Dennis Rodman. And, of course, Michael. And Scotty. You might have him on occasionally after a game on SportsCenter, but maybe once or twice through that 66 years when they won titles. And I worked with him as well on ABC when we did NBA coverage with Mark Jackson, but I didn't once again. I didn't really know Scotty. And when he had these comments, I thought, okay. There are a couple of things that stood out if he wants to be critical of Kevin Durant and Kevin Durant style with LeBron make them better. Different. Kevin Durant's not a team player. Okay, That's just his opinion. I mean, he's earned that right, Uh, one of great players of all time. He wants to be critical. You bring in LeBron James, and then it's going to be a bigger story than what it really is. To me. It just stood out What happened in 1994? With 1.8 seconds to go in a playoff game with the Knicks. And Can I understand from a basketball perspective? You're the star player. Michael Jordan is not there. It's my moment here. I got the opportunity to be the go to guy. And then Phil Jackson. Gave Tony Ku coach the opportunity to hit the game winning shot which, by the way he did And he said it was a racial move to give him a rise. I just I wanted to have him on just to see if he wanted to clarify. He doubled down on that. And there was no hesitation and, you know, I didn't know that had gotten to that point with he and Phil Jackson that he he's sitting, you know, citing when Phil left The Lakers and wrote a book and then had things to say about Kobe sold him out and then went back. And, you know, I just thought he was disloyal now, but to say it was a racial move. That you're going to Get the white guy the ball. And in that moment, I It felt like Scotty was confusing The two that Hey, this is my moment. But you're not giving me that moment. But Tony Ku coach, the White guy gets to take the shot. That's where I thought OK, so we know what he's talking about. Does he know he's calling Phil Jackson Racist? And he didn't back off at all. The fact that Phil didn't design the play that Steve Kerr hit the game winning shot against Utah in the NBA Finals. That was Michael playing to the cameras to make it seem like he was the one who was designing that play. Uh, You know, the Jordan wanting to play baseball, a selfish moved by him. Said. That's who Michael Jordan was. Um And the fact that they knew there was a documentary going on in that last season, and Jordan playing to the camera. You know, as much as Scotty says, You know, I've moved on. He hasn't. There's an awful lot there to unpack, you know? See, It's fairly incredible foresight, though, By Michael Jordan, too. Play to the camera in that moment and then wait 20 years to reveal it. Well, I think Michael didn't know he had the rights to the documentary. Or did he know Paul Michael Jordan agreed with NBA films to do a documentary that season, but he had total power control of when it's going to be released and held it for decades until the 30 for 30 crew got him to do it. Mhm. Yeah. You know the criticism of Kevin Durant. You know, it's like, Okay, So what? But you know to be there in that moment when he got traded on draft night. It's just wild because we're thinking nobody knew much about Scottie Pippen. I knew more about old an Impala knees from college and then there they are, there were interviewing them. And then they swapped hats they gave them. You know those starter hats or whatever it is. It's Seattle SuperSonics and then Scott. He's got that hat on an old and policies that the Bulls hat on, and then they switched him. Remember being there going? Wow, That's odd. Now. I don't know at the time that one of these guys is going to be one of the 50 greatest players of all time. If you would have said, who's going to be I said, Well, probably older and Polynesia. I don't know about That much about Scottie Pippen? Yeah, pulling the last thing we ask Scotty 15 minutes ago. You said, uh Hey, you that was pretty talented. Uh, Sonics team. You could have faced Michael Jordan in the finals. And Scott, he said quote. I don't know if he would have made it that far. And he did eyebrows towards you. And they said, you know what I mean. Man. Oh, man. Mm. Okay, well, the city of Chicago sports radio. You're welcome. There you go. Enjoy Sylvian, Watteau enjoy. No chop that up. Yeah, I'm McLovin. Don't forget l A Where that Kobe Phil Jackson stuff too. If l A wants jump in. Yeah. Scotty provided several cities. Yeah. He's got a lot to say. That's one of those, if you if you've got a chance to sit down And he might not know everything he's saying. But It feels like there's a lot to unpack there. That he he's still harbors some grudges. There feels like big time Paul. It does feel like he's aware he's not Michael Jordan, but he's aware that Michael Jordan's not Michael Jordan without him. Right. You know, I'm saying like he was part of all six. Not three. Like Horace Grant. Not three, like others. Yeah, And you know, the thing is, is Scotty. Scotty was going to the NBA Finals. If not for a phantom call. You know, he he would have taken them to the NBA Finals without Mike. That's pretty big. Look, I understand where he fought so hard to be somebody. Um, and he was always going to be Robin to Batman or Plan B to plan a And he finally gets his call like they're going to throw me. I'm going to get the last shot. Now he earned the shot. But he wasn't the best option for the shot because Tony Ku coach was a better shooter yet 1.8 seconds to go Where Tony got it turned shot made it It's certainly It's certainly helps the story that it hurts Pippen that KU coach made the shot. Because just imagine if Tony coach doesn't make that shot. The papers. The next day would be like, what is Phil thinking? Why are you going to Tony Ku Coach? A relatively young player. Um he gets to take the shot in that moment. It was wild, though. I remember Bill Cartwright is sitting next to Scotty. He's imploring him, like Get back. What are you doing? This is like career suicide. And and this is this is happening in real time. Scotty just.

"His vacation. You see his, uh, his instagram. Oh, my God. Didn't see that. I saw the picture. Yeah. Pictures on his instagram. Yeah, he's already living that good life, man. Why is he doing curls, though? Like he's out there with, like, just on. He was on the boat. Just the boat. I say boat like it was. You know, boat? Yeah. Yeah, Okay. He was a young how big Magic got this year. Excuse me. Oh, I'm gonna have big yacht. I don't know. I'm just thinking, you know, probably. I just know, relatable conversation ever. Well, it's just I just know that one of the photos, One of the videos was here. He had the yacht with the gym. Got two dumbbells. Just just hanging out some curls on the day. He got the barb. Enormous yacht. No, I just was thinking all Allah I hear you and I just was like, Oh, this is nice. Believe he was on the aft deck. No, he do it. Do it, though. You know 25. Put Ray boat risk Sunray. Whatever. At the beginning of May, it was like this is amazing. He getting, but he probably was on the bottom 2 83 something he on super yacht. Yeah, For sure. You understand. He was doing what he was doing Curls just saying it. Just randomly doing curls like in the middle in the middle of the publication is your audio. It's up, saying it was. That's how you work so magic. It was great to see big smile on his face. But you heard him talking about the nets and what they should be doing going forward and How they can build. Continue to build around that Big three with Kevin Durant. How Kevin Ray almost single handedly really got the Nets to the conference finals. I mean, again, as we say, just the tow away. From winning that game at the buzzer in regulation. But not everybody was impressed that gave him the shot if I was the rift You have just said no account. Well, yeah, but the review show this big old toe was on the line. Not everybody was impressed with Kevin Durant. So there's a story in G Q. Featuring Scottie Pippen, the the T Baby, So Scottie Pippen. Had this to say about Kevin Durant quote he needs to learn how to utilize his teams. He has to learn how to set up his teammates. To be better. That's it as great as he is. There's a guess a cap to his talent. He could have easily made that three killed him in regulation, and we wouldn't have been talking about this. I knew going into overtime. He wasn't going to wasn't going to make it. He was taking all the shots. You don't play the whole game, bro. And they've got guys physically wearing you down. You're going to lose. More from Scotty, he said. Katie can score better than LeBron. Probably always have been able to Has he surpassed LeBron? No. He tried to beat the Milwaukee Bucks instead of utilizing his team. You see what I'm saying? LeBron James would have figured out how to beat them, and he wouldn't have been exhausted and he may not have taken the last shot. LeBron KD and KD and LeBron KD is a shooter a score. But it doesn't have What LeBron has So that's out there for the world to read. That means of course, that Kevin Durant saw it, too. And as we've learned about Kevin Durant Very closely here. You say something about Cady? He might respond. So he did, of course with a clap back on Twitter that said this This guy Scott. Scott Scott also wanted to enjoy his summer so he chose to rehab during the season. And then he goes at Scottie Pippen. They followed Phil, not you. He also said, didn't the great Scottie Pippen refused to go into the game for the last second shot because he was in his feelings. His coach drew up a play. For a better shooter. That's the reference to When Tony Ku coach was given the last shot in the second round of the 94 playoffs, and Ku coach actually made the shot they won. They later lost the series and that ended their championship run without Michael Jordan. Still, that's a famous story about how he just sat at the end of the bench, and they played without doubted because he wasn't happy that he wasn't getting the shot. So Question is this Is Scottie Pippen Wrong about Katie? Yeah, He's wrong for sure. But I also Understand what he was trying to say. I think which is he was really trying to Bend around criticizing Michael Jordan. Because what he's saying is if you read the entire story, guys like Charles Barkley, Didn't have a whole lot around him. And couldn't win at Barclay been on the team. He would be able to win, and he kind of went into the Golden State situation where Katie had those guys so he was able to win, and when Katie was on the floor by itself. He wasn't able to win. So if you really dive into it and you look at it, what he's saying is Michael Jordan didn't do nothing till he got me. And us around him. That's why he kept using the word team. Team team team team because, Michael obviously Michael Jordan, the hell what you mean. I had a knee sleeve on as a kid, and nothing was wrong with my knee because of Michael Jordan, right? I mean, you know, I tried to chew my gum like Michael Jordan walked like Mike. You know, I had the whole thing everybody was Mike and so biscotti is trying to say. Without being so critical of Michael Jordan in it sounded like a true hater, because, obviously, if you say something about Mike you it ain't the same as saying something about Kevin Durant. Kevin Durant is low hanging fruit. Compared to Michael Jordan when it comes to Scottie Pippen, So that's the way I looked at it because he kept saying to himself to us. Team team team. Basically Kevin.

"Out for the year with a hamstring tear. A Drew, who listens to the shell responded to by Scottie Pippen thought which I just say the guys who live in glass houses, he wrote this book. And I think he's still writing it. It's called unguarded. I believe it's coming out November. I can't. I can't wait to read it. It's gonna love it. But, he said, spoken like a true Jordan Fanboy to soften the blow in Scotty's book reveals the truth about Jordan. And what kind of a teammate he really was. And this is less about Michael. Because I'm I believe that if you really watched closely the last dance, I think The last dance revealed that Michael was a jerk. Michael was a bully. That even though it was his production, we kind of knew that. Yeah, we will. And for those who didn't I think it's sort of highlighted it. Yes, but like nothing new there. I I just think that that Scottie Pippen you tell me And again, I preface it all by saying I love Scotty. He's one of my favorite all time players, but his warts are big and his wards are real. You give me a bigger Chicago sports offense than sitting out the last 1.8 seconds of a playoff game. Because you didn't get your play drawn up. Give me one like people crushed Sammy for leaving a game early in 2004. The Cubs were out of it. It was the last game of the year and he left. Scottie Pippen set out 1.8 seconds because Phil drew up a play for Tony Ku coach. Pretty egregious sports. Really give me give me like a bigger give me any bigger. Chicago sports offense. Yeah, I can't find one. I don't think you top of my head, and so I like he's going to point fingers at other people. I don't think he can win that battle. I just don't I really don't. Um all right before we get to Benetti, Chris, let's play. You're on censorship that you put together describe what we do here. Well, Yeah. So what I've done in the past. So have you guys ever watched Jimmy Kimmel? Yes. Come on. You know, Jimmy Kimmel has a segment called unnecessary censorship. Right? They take clips of press conferences, Presidents. We had a good one about capping his salmon. Right. Speaking of a bit like back in March. Here's a good one actually doing salmon tonight. With a hard pass. Uh, you haven't had my salmon with cream sauce. Yeah, that's it Worse now, it's delicious, man. What do you make? How do you make a cream sauce? And don't say I I do. I take fresh peel it. I put the pieces of the orange Into a sauce that has some cream in it and has a little bit of bad to just want a little bit thicker. Put in a few pieces of orange and then I squeezed Get the juice in there. Let it cook up. Let the orange steep into the substance, the sauce and then I drizzle it over the top of the and then I make broccoli in the oven. When it's just about done. I Sprinkle but let that bacon and melt. Oh, what a dinner, man. Yeah, you know, good fun, right? Yeah. Cat, unnecessary censorship. So this morning I was listening The cap and Jay Hood our morning show 7 to 10 every weekday morning, Right here on ESPN 1000. And here's some unnecessary censorship on cap and Jay Hood back in your day cap or when I was a kid, I'm watching and I'm seeing the not white But there was something on it. Where, like, Okay, well, there's enough, but on this thing where I could be able to have control and and that's the difference, because when you get a fresh, you get the To start It's slick. Yes, you've got to use some spit and you've got to kind of rub it up so it doesn't slip out of your hand. Not supposed to be that you get from the store is not supposed to be that simple. It's supposed to be rubbed up. All the highlights all the I remember getting what it's like this. Not even like the one I play with at home because of one I won't play with at home is from the store or, like Pearl White. Oh, that's that's fantastic. Oh, these like I don't know what they were rubbing up. Oh, no, the spit and everything. What were they talking about? Yeah, I don't know. It's not the same as the one I have at home, guys. That's good. That's really good and and speak down. That is unnecessary censorship. We are uncensored on crosstalk unhinged if you have not checked out the ESPN Chicago APP for the latest edition. Carmen and you're gonna Waddle and Sylvia crosstalk. It's back. It is uncensored. It is uncaught. It is commercial free, and it's exclusively available on the ESPN Chicago app. So make sure you go there and you download the app. If you haven't done it yet, and you listen to The crosstalk unhinged. People love it, and we will lot of conversation about, didn't we? We touched on attending sporting events the etiquette with regard To leaving when this is the right time to that's where I first brought it up, and the Merkin range ball discussion is on there and and some sports in their, uh more some more dinners, conversation. I believe away just so everybody knows. Merkin has returned the range balls that were left in his bag to the range today. Meaning he went to the range and actually was hitting the balls that he'd taken from the range previously, so he gave them back by hitting to a different range, though no? Yes, or was it the same range? Is he like my guess is it's the same range it looked like he had some yellow balls and some white balls. And he dropped them off at at a rain. Yeah, I think he was trying to actually show everybody that his process is actually not that bad. Okay? Yeah, I don't believe it. Because what did he bring an extra bottle to replace the one that he hit into the water that I don't know. I'm not sure about that. All right. So let me play this from Benetti and then Len KASPER is going to join us at 5 30. This was yesterday. I'm and and like you said Waddle. Grand doll is sliding home. Yes. Where was he Tagged? You know they called him out. He looks safe. But can you can tell, really say he was saying there was talk that maybe the tag was made to his back foot? I didn't Tony was having none of that he was and I wasn't either. I just didn't know I couldn't tell whether or not his front foot ever. Actually touched the plate or it was hovering above the plate. That was my question. So at the end, man thinking probably not going to overturn this because it's inconclusive. Right? So, um They then rule against what the broadcast thinks is going to happen. They think it's going to be reversed Grand all scores big game at this point important time in this game, But Benetti is point isn't necessarily that They called him out. But he wants an explanation. Take a listen to some things from NBC Sports Chicago. This is one of those. There are enough angles.
