"Now, your host, director of the MVA. So neta Adams. Welcome back to the veterans perspective. Joining us is our next guest is Tony Kennedy. Tony is a regional veteran navigator who works for Southwest Michigan behavioral health and is part of the veteran navigator program through the State Department of Health and Human Services. She previously worked for the U.S. health of representatives as a veteran advocate. She also volunteers in her community as an advocate for sexual assault and domestic violence since fits on the call in the new county board of veterans. Thank you and welcome to the show, Tony. Thank you for having me director. Yeah, it's great to have some representation from Southwest Michigan on the show and it's great to have you on. I know we spent some of Veterans Day together and just a great conversation so I want to say thank you for inviting me out and allowing me to speak to your people and vine with them as well. So I wanted to just talk to you a little bit. First of all, how long have you been in this position of veteran navigator? What have you been doing there? So I haven't been in a position very long. The gentleman that was in this space retired in May and since he understood that what I was doing in the congressional office was similar. And he asked me if I would consider this position and so honestly I've been doing it for over 5 years. But in this particular with Southwest Michigan, be able health just since May. Okay. And so what is it exactly that veteran navigator does? So I'm glad you asked that question. Veteran navigator, what they try to do is once they get a referral from veterans, whether the referral comes from MVA or from the community community mental health, et cetera. What we try to do is connect resources for that veteran and their family. And the family is really important because sometimes the veteran is in a space that is difficult because he can't get help for either the child or the spouse be it employment, et cetera. So veteran navigator will look into their resources and try to help the veteran with anything that he or she would need in order to move forward. Move forward in their Stock.. To help them. Yeah. Yeah, they're dirty for sure. And so you all work with veterans that are dealing with issues like mental health, substance abuse, housing, and other issues. And so are your only the only way that someone can get to you is through maybe a referral or how can there are other ways that they can reach a veteran navigator force assistance? So they can reach a veteran navigator with referrals are good. Because what we want is that the community be aware that we are available for them and serve as their legs and free them up so they can help someone else. So referrals are good, but anyone can pick up the phone and call me anytime. That's how I work and fit some emergency, then I'll call back after hours. If it's something that I feel that can wait till the next day, they have my undivided attention either way. And I have that phone number if you would like me to give that phone number, but there are many veteran navigators. I am regional. So I cover 8 counties of southwest Michigan and some of those counties are very burying brands, cast counties, Calhoun county, Kalamazoo county, saint Joe county, and Van Buren county. Wow, so you're pretty busy. I am quite busy. That's a good thing. That means a monthly enjoying my job and helping veterans because they need it. Absolutely. Absolutely. Well, one of the things I know that you all are working on in collaboration with MBA is a food for vets initiative. And so, you know, for those of you who may remember during COVID, one of the things that was really important to me in the agency was that veterans had access to food. Because we know that pastries were over food pantries were overflowing with people coming in during COVID and we wanted to make sure veterans were going. They had food. So we had these, we worked with the trust fund and had food vouchers. Our food cards that were straight from the grocery store that we give to veterans that needed it. And so through that, we wanted to make sure that we were continuing to use that and we had this food for vets initiative that we've partnered with you on. Can you talk a little bit about that and what you all have been doing there? So I say that I've been blessed with the opportunity that MVA asked me, Erica, Uber, and lindell home in Ellen Dow asked, well, I kind of always trying to draw people into southwest Michigan. And so I was really blessed that they asked me if I would partner with them. And help them select some counties. That I cover to be able to do a holiday food basket giveaway. And so we selected for counties and I. partnered up with hunting and SpartanNash and they ordered the food. We gave out a 150 baskets just to talk about yesterday. We had an initiative in building county. We gave away a 150 food baskets. The only thing the only requirement was that they had to prove that they were veteran or a family member of a veteran. The battle peak VA also showed up the veteran service office showed up that community mental health showed up. We had volunteers

"We pay mornings at 6 is pop serap time. It also may be breakfast time or yoga time, but definitely listening time. All right, America, welcome back. It's rich Valdez were armed with Tony kennett from the daily signal, and he's written a brilliant piece. On how Indiana schools were complicit with their staff to hide a gender, what they call a gender support plan, which is really nothing more than they're covering up the transition of these children from their parents. Absolute insanity. So I want to continue down that Fred, but Tony Kenneth, if you will. I want you to listen to this clip of audio because I think it doesn't go hand in hand, but it definitely goes hand in glove with what's going on. Listen to this. As an educator, I am constantly worried if I am part of the problem. What do I mean by that? Well, public education is an institution that upholds lots of problematic systems in our society like white supremacy and misogyny and colonization, et cetera. In my role as an educator, I try to undermine that BS in my classroom as much as I possibly can. I teach high school English and the white supremacy runs deep. What do I mean by that? Well, let's look at how we write essays. Start with an introduction that includes a thesis. Always say your sources. Use transition words like, however, and therefore. These are all made up rules. They're arbitrary. They were created by westerners and power. In linguistic justice, April baker bell calls this the language of respectability or the language of power. She got me thinking, what if I started in my school year with a unit honoring how we talk rather than teaching students how to write properly? So this is the start of my series. I'm teaching linguistics in high school. Oh, my goodness. Oh my goodness. Again, I don't want to go too off base here, but this is insanity. Tony Kennedy is it racist in your opinion. Or are you a white supremacist if you follow the rules of an essay? No, first of all, feces were originally created by Hebrew and Jewish culture. The Japanese were the ones who actually came up with in text citation when they wrote their first book about themselves losing language from the Chinese. So it's completely factually incorrect, but also it's always the English teachers as a former administrator. It was always the English teachers that would come in crying about some brand new social justice nonsense that they read on social media. Every time yeah, you know, it's funny. I hear this stuff. And again, I laugh at it, you know, courtesy to the libs of TikTok. They put some great stuff out there. But these are real teachers that are really like making it their life's mission to go in here and tear stuff up and buy stuff. I mean, your kids, this is the problem. Now, if you leave me to it, I'll sit here and talk about the Marxist roots of all of these teacher colleges. But you as an administrator and you as an investigative columnist, writing for the daily signal on these types of topics, education, predominantly. I guess you got your finger on the pulse. Where do you feel this is going? Well, I think there are two ways to look at it. It's where it's going in the administrative section. And then it's where it's going with a lot of your average teachers for long time. We wanted to teach. Where it's going for the administrative side masters and doctoral degrees of which I've wasted too much money on and getting my own master's degrees. It's heading towards what you actually alluded to that Marxist roots that Pablo Ferrer in idea that everything is built on Christian and therefore we need to tear down capitalism. We need to tear down the country, tear down all of the things the United States hold dear in the name of equity and justice and peace and all these other buzzwords that's really just overthrowing capitalism. But what they have miscalculated in is all of the people along the way who just want to teach just want to work and then go home and spend time with their families who don't have time for this garbage. And that's why in the story that I wrote for the daily signal, it was actually the counselor who was forced to send the email to parents or excuse me not to parents, but the teachers that spoke out to us was the teacher who resigned in protest. It's all of these teachers leaving the public education system to teach in micro schools or private and Christian or Jewish schools or what we've seen in Dearborn, Michigan, a lot of the teachers in institutions and the modern groups up there that are saying, we don't want any of this LGBTQ curriculum. And so they're leaving and starting their own schools. Your common average everyday American is rejecting the stealth because they are seeing what it does to their children. They're seeing what it does to students that they teach and a lot of them are rejecting it outright. Yeah, and I mean, again, on a moral and social front, there's problems, but on an academic level, when you're saying, let's talk about how we speak and forget about how we write. I mean, I used to have a job years ago where I had to hire people, and there were people that were submitting resumes. And I don't think they were lying. I just felt like the quality of education and some of the universities that came from was so low that they just didn't write very well. And I'm thinking these are people with a graduate degree that can't write well. So when I hear something like this, I'm thinking, oh my goodness, imagine just telling someone, no, no, no, you say what you want and you write however you like. That's okay. Like, how do you do that? How do you get a job? And this is very scary to me. Very scary. Tony? It bothers me because when you actually take a look at the finances behind it, you see Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C.. These are schools that are spending in some cases over $30,000 a year per student, yet 80% of the kids can't read on grade level. And for black and Hispanic students, that number is even lower. And that's what these schools are supposedly focusing on in there. They're social justice marketing. If they can't even get the kids to read on grade level, where do English teachers like the one from the clips that you played get off telling everyone that they need to dismantle the system. Dismantle the system, you can't even get kids to read on grade level in the current system. What gives you the right to go off theorize in some grand space when you can't even get your get your students to read see spot run? Yeah, 100% right. Folks, we are on with Tony kennett from the daily signal. And we're going to get to your calls and more straight ahead, so don't go anywhere, 8 6 6 5 O 5 46 26. I'm Richard. This will the lack of a red wave during the midterms lead to

"All right, America, welcome back. It's rich found S average valdes on all of the social media feel free to chime in that way, or give us a call 8 6 6 5 O 5 46 26 always looking forward to speaking with you guys. And our guest is Tony Kennedy he's an investigative columnist at the daily signal, and I wanted to talk with Tony because there's all these headlines. Just 6 hours ago, W T KR. After school Satan club application was withdrawn by Chesapeake superintendent. This seems to be the big, big story, not the least of which is that they're pushing these Satan clubs and then they're pulling them back, but then there's all this gender propaganda I'm going to say. And you've also got parents that are being left in the dark with so much of what's going on. So I want to talk about what's happening with kids and in schools. Tony, welcome to the program, sir. Thank you very much for having me on, rich. My pleasure. So let's dig in here. First, let me get your reaction to this Satan club stuff. What's your thought on that? Is groaning aggressively a reaction at this point? I mean, it's so exhausting to hear that at this point, it's just performative theater gone wild. It's pathetic. I think, again, and I might live in a bubble. But I don't think there's a demand for this. And so I feel like this is strictly somebody saying, hey, look, well, if you can do it, we can do it too. But I feel like it hasn't been successful, but it's only a matter of time before it is. Do you think I'm wrong? No, I don't think you're wrong at all. I see a lot of lonely, sad, depressive individuals who have graduated from these teacher programs, and they really want to stick it to those conservative Christians. The villains and all of the 1980s movies out there. So what they're going to do is they're going to create all these counter culture clubs even though they're the dominant culture to try to stick it to the man. And all they're doing is really this preening posturing nonsense that kids by and large really aren't even interested in. Yeah, now I know you have a background in education and as a writer. So it makes sense that you're writing about this stuff and you have a new piece in the daily signal. That is titled. What else are they going to lie about? Indiana school compels staff to hide gender support plans from parents. Now, these types of headlines, they always get me because I'm a dad, and I have two kids, and I think to myself, if I was in a situation where they were hiding the fact that they have this closet program and kids go to school and they get to play dress up or be gender dysphoric or whatever the terminology is while they're in school and then come back and then it's like back to normal so that you can hide it from your parents. This I get incensed when I hear these things because I think you're teaching a value of hiding things and lying in essence to your parents. And when your teachers do it, someone they trust, it kind of normalizes lying to your parents, which for most kids comes pretty naturally anyway. So I don't think this is a good thing to encourage. Where do you see this going? Do you think this is going to stop? Do you think parents are going to rise up and put an end to it? Do we ultimately lose? What's your sense here? I hope and pray that parents rise up against it. It's something that although I grew up in a Christian household and I grew up in church and I understood that dishonesty is wrong. I know very bold statement. The older I grew and as I actually now have a child of my own, it makes my blood boil to think that a school district would have the gall to hide things intentionally to order their counselors and teachers to hide things from parents. It makes you sick. It made us teacher actually physically sick in that story. She resigned in protest. I don't think that these kind of behaviors are going to stop until we take this kind of power away from public schools. There is no superintendent who should be making decisions as to what a parent does and does not get to be aware of regarding their child. That is a sick and disgusting thought. Yeah, you know, I think you made a good statement right now. And you said it won't stop until we don't, until we take away this power. And I think that's a good way to approach it, because my initial gut reaction to this has always been, we've got to get our kids out of there. You can't send your kids. The government has to get out of education. And obviously, there may be right in my mind, but they're incredibly difficult to materialize. So what do you think the actual steps are to get back to normal? Well, the first thing that I think is the most important is cataloging each and every instance of something that has gone wrong in a public school because oftentimes conservatives especially in legislation will see something break in the news will be mad about it for two weeks and then we'll forget about it. We don't save it. And so by the time it's the legislative session rolls around, your state representative who has two staffers that are college interns that use Google for research. They'll ask you, we'll give us the examples of all of these things that are happening. And we won't have them. So at least in Indiana, in the state that I live in and out of my writing from, I have been working with a lot of parent groups to catalog all of this so that we can build tailor made policies to restrict schools from in this case, hiding things from parents or pushing aggressively racist curriculum or whatever the progressive thing of the day is that we're fighting. All right, folks. I just want to reiterate here. We are on with Tony kennett and he's investigative columnist with daily signal and we're referencing his piece, what else are they willing to lie about Indiana school compels staff to hide gender support plans from parents. And this to me is a big deal. Again, I underscore how much this stuff bothers me because I feel like it's the ultimate betrayal of trust. What else somebody says, hey, on a burn your house down, as long as you don't die in it, you can get another house. You can't get another kid. And when somebody hurts your kid, which you can't even put a price tag on, you know, you can't ensure your kid. I mean, and

"Four designed to move you forward so guys over the weekend. We had two additions to the roster. We've had other additions with the two more notable ones coming this weekend defensive back chris johnson and then titan jake houseman who is obviously the more notable signing i would say because of the injury to lee levin toilolo. He was waived by the detroit. Lions and we spoke after levine. Toilolo tore his achilles mentioning the fact that if there is an in a situation where somebody wave somebody somebody that. Maybe they have their ion. They're probably going to go out and bring them in or claim them to get them into the competition. Get them into the rotation to see if they can just add some back and competition for some of the later guys in the depth chart so here it is. This is jake. housman who's coming in reportedly is supposed to be a pretty good blocker. Yeah i'm actually kind of low key excited about the housman signing just because of the blocking aspect. Obviously we know what happened to being toy low. And that's really a devastating injury especially at that part of his career and toilolo. I felt like he was on the ground far too often last year for somebody who's kind of built as a blocker but he also had special teams value at the play like thirty eight percent of the special teams reps played about twenty seven twenty eight percent of the offensive reps. Because we know how much jason garrett has proclivity run twelve thirteen personnel packages. Which i feel like have merit but now that you add various. Tony kennedy golladay john ross. Hopefully we see a little bit more leban- personnel but the fact that he does like to run those multiple tight end packages. Leads us to police. He may carry four tights. I mean they love using caitlyn smith as at sniffer that f. back h. Back whatever you wanna call him. And then they have. Kyle rudolph evan ingram but i think housman somebody who can add value as blockers definitely somebody that if he really shows up in this camp could possibly be a sneaky person to make this roster but like we said before a lot of these guys. I mean there's a lot of depth. Here's a lot of secondary pieces. Team is gonna wanna carry a lot of players that the giants are going to be interested in so there's going to be some tough cuts now. Is kid housman. He's somebody who had he wasn't overly productive at all in college as a receiver. But he was that blocker. And that's very very important but this is also a young player so has a little bit of an uphill climb but you know the fact that he can block is going to help his chances to at least make this roster. I don't know how far along rice and john is with blocking because he was converted wide receiver assignment greater graphic kid last year and he's also thinks still in the code listed from not mistaken right. Now i think i would kind of look at houseman is a guy who's got an outside chance to make the roster he from what i remember from his tape yet this. We talked about this when we were building our big board. This tight end class wasn't great but houseman. He was a good solid blocker. And that's something that the giants do need is from the tight end position especially if they want to run the ball as much as i think we all think they want to run the ball. Sometimes it's the tight end and wide receiving blocks that make the difference between an okay. Run a good run at a great run so having that extra guys especially if they run a lot of those thirteen personnel packages who can be a basically a six six or seven th alignment and maybe sprinting. A block at the second level. That gets the running back whichever wanted happens to be into space. Where all they have to worry about is making a safety miss or running through an arm tackle and then they're off to the races yet. That is important but again it's also the numbers game. And i don't think they're not going to go into the season with fullback so i could see them. Especially if rudolph is able to get off the pup list where they go with just three tight ends out. Everything room count rudolph cadence smith and then elijah penny as their fullback. And then maybe keep houseman on the practice squad where they can call him up if they need him. I think that's probably the more likely scenario right there. Put him on the practice squad. And i'm glad you brought up the fullback because the giants love having a full back they they will put out to running back. Set sometimes fullback not frequently. But it does happen. Also signed calling via from the from the texans who could compete with elijah penny who they love for a roster spot and then i also think possibly one of those two maybe more so gillespie than pani. Although we saw penny execute is role in twenty twenty they could possibly be the sniffer. The tracer whatever you wanna call it on those g. h. g. f. counter plays where the backside guard polls that kick out the man. On the line of scrimmage and then they bring the the tight end the age back wherever you want to call him through the whole to locate the next dangerous man. That's up smith that a lot last year. But maybe they'll look at gillespie as somebody who has done that in the past and see if he can outperform smith although i feel like smith did excellently in that role last year. And it seems like there's a number of different variations that we could have with this this roster alignment but i think the one way to just wrap up the houseman. Signing is that they lose toilolo. Who essentially is there to be a big bonnie adblocker. He was a massive tight end. He's now not going to be available for the season and what they go and do to replace him springing in a different big quality blocking tight end. So that's what housman is going to provide. There are different possibilities for how he works his way into the lineup. I like the thought that you throughout their chris that he could potentially stick around on the practice squad and be a sub in guy if they never need him but now a little added competition at tight end. Hopefully there are no other major injuries. So the giants don't have to go out and seek any other waiver claims and they can continue to roll with the guys that they have on their roster. That's going to be at for today's episode for training camp update. We're going to be coming at you soon. At the end of the week with a preview of the giants first preseason game that is going to be against the new york jets. Saturday august fourteenth Seven thirty eastern.

"Yvo Twenty twenty has been canceled due to various sexual abuse allegations. Yvo Is the biggest annual fighting game tournament in the world, and even with the covid nineteen issues plaguing everyone on the planet. The tournament was soldiering on with plans to make it fully online. Earlier this week, however that all fell apart, and in order to learn more about it, I called on Imran Khan to explain everything Imron. Come into the gaming ride home show again for having me Yvo was canceled. And I just want you to give me the full story. What happened? Why was it canceled? Everything start from the beginning, so ego is the biggest fighting tournament in America Kinda the biggest in the world. There's like some discussion about that at this point, but ego is basically where fighting games have been aspiring to for the last twenty thirty years and listening started in the ninety S. This year, obviously because of covid kit have their usual Mandalay Bay Las Vegas big gathering of fighting game players. So this year they ended up canceling I place. Eve Online Eve online was a different thing where the. Mainly, got games together with like Netco like mortal Kombat eleven and them fighting her indie game that was originally based on my little pony, but basically it was A. It has to evolve brand that could stay around despite not being the big mass gathering tournament that they expect over the last couple of weeks. There's been a bigger. industry-wide movement to out sexual predators in gaming and the gaming industry, and some companies have been hit harder than that are with that bubis off for example, but for the most part it's. It's not a huge thing within the FTC. Because the FTC's always kind of had a reputation of like. Being a bit more open with their sexual harassment and it's always like. It's never been to a level of. A mass critical mass. Joey quilter this past week yesterday in for yesterday in fact was outed by a player. Named He's just does mikey. He goes online and is after the tag is crack. Peron but George Taylor. Who is the head of the current? President Vivo who founded it with Tommy Tony Kanaan. was outed for experiences when he was. Close, to twenty, where they were southern golf land, which is an amusement park in l. a.. That mikey accused him of basically. Paying money to young kids to take their shirts. Germany polls mikey related experience where he said quarter. Paid him twenty dollars to see his genitals inside a restroom and bought him pornography so. It's IT'S A. It's a larger thing that when you look at it from the perspective of not a child who just thinks they're having fun. It's real creepy, but what is conditions came out. Other people's Front, also coming out of the woodwork, saying like more finding old chaser people were talking about doing these things, but not naming names, and now that it's out. The floodgates are broken out. Yvonne immediately went. No, WE'RE GONNA put on administrative leave and check this out, so I mentioned Tom. Tony Kennedy before their more famous like they are obviously co-founders of ego, but there are more famous right now for being developers of Product L. at riot games so. They had to step in for this and go okay. We're looking at this right now. We're investigating and seeing what happens. It did not take very long before nether realm. I believe the first one like say. Are Involved with ego involvement in that sense means we don't WanNA game there. We're not going to earn any money towards prize pools. We're not doing any advertising which is fairly big deal. Arguably moral combat was like the lead game for that tournament. Right for the online tournament. Yes, Merle come at usually has a hard time with like the in person tournament. Fighting community hasn't really take to that game too well, but as an online net code game like for example, smash brothers was canceled for Eve online because the net code. Isn't that good, so this is more time to shine. The actual like really arguably was streetfighter as it is every year. This year. Are Not meeting her, but a little bit. After another canceled COP CANCELED IN ONCE CAPCOM cancels gets away from ego. Then that's that's the ballgame lets. Everything goes away soon after main sex developers of them biting heard who this is their big chance to become A. Kind of a household name and if I didn't need community, they cancelled. Bay Namco canceled and ran into that ego are the canons came out with a message from as ego saying? Hey, we were cutting for joy color. He is not president anymore. In the future, he will have zero involvement with the organization this not he's going to not be on. He's going to be on the board, or he'll be the FCC or he'll still kind of tournaments. They're cutting it off completely. Shortly after that they also that announced, we can't under these circumstances and this change in organization also do evil online in a couple of weeks in August. A month or in August? I. Know that screws over a lot of people, but. It seems like honestly the best. Call right now of. You'RE GONNA have to go through with work. That joy has done or you're going to have to. Try It's from scratch. Cobble together in event that takes at least a year to actually set up and try to get together in a couple of weeks. Yeah, I mean they just they basically. Got Rid of the boss in the most public way, possible right I mean it's it's you can't just like recover from that in a matter of weeks. Really Yeah, it's. It is one of those things of a lot of this is. Probably high time for the funding community insert reckoning with a lot of these things, because it's an issue for a number of years, it was I. I don't know if you recall but a about eight years ago, there was a street fight across capcom across Tekken. Show online, and it ended up ending as a result of some sexual harassment claims, and those a big divide in the community about like whether sexual harassment was a just a part of the culture or not and.
