Another MLB Mother's Day action, the mets and national splitted double header, single game victories for the NL's cardinals, brewers, Diamondbacks, rockies, Marlins and pirates, and the ailes Astros, rangers, twins, tigers, guardians, and rays who beat the Yankees for the fourth time in 7 games over the last ten days for manager Kevin cash. I'm exciting ball games here. For 7, it seems like any team could win any of one of the ball games. Happy that we came up on top today. "While you're looking that up, I'll go on to Tony Gosselin for 45 bucks and Carlos Correa is valued at 14. So one of the things that definitely came up as I was talking with wells, he really wanted Carlos Correa offices roster. He definitely accomplished that. I think it's interesting that it went to raw because rob is ros trying to offload a lot of product right now. So it was another, it's another player for rob probably to offload it because I can't see him keeping Carlos Correa unless he sells Lindor and a couple other pieces. So I'm kind of curious to see if rob gets stuck with Correa. Gosselin, let's just kind of look at it from Gosselin for 45 bucks. I was a little surprised, but if you give Tony Gosselin another 30 innings at the same rate, that is performing at. I can kind of get on board with the 45. I thought it was a slight overpayment. I don't think he's going to go 16 in one, though. But I do actually think that he is room for improvement in a strikeout rate. So. It's kind of an overpayment, but like when we look back a year from now I can see where people are like, yeah, that makes sense because Tony Gosselin is not particularly old and I've always liked Tony Gosselin. This really just been a matter of health for him. So, you know, an overpayment and someone who really wanted to get Carlos Correa of the roster for whatever reason and I'm not a big Carlos Correa guy myself in fantasy. But I thought it was a great deal for rob. Yeah, Carlos Correa for music guy. I would draft, but I wouldn't trade for. Right. You know, it kind of got you expect to see on draft day and I like them. You never quite going to get, but, you know, on the, if you're drafting at that position, I feel like you're going to get value, but the health thing is definitely something to consider. I agree, over payment, I think you're paying for last year's version of Godzilla and like you said, he's not going to go 16 and one again. I've liked him in the past. He would same thing. "They have Tony consul in who's been very good. Kershaw has returned and Andrew heaney is about to be back too. But it is a bit concerning from a depth perspective out and of course her yes has a good ERA, but subpar peripherals has been quite Homer prone. She had that great season last year, but he has not sort of that so far. His most recent outing this weekend, I guess he threw on Sunday right. Today's Monday. And he gave up, he only gave up two runs. You have two solo shots, then he struck out ten, so it was like, it felt like a very 2022 Julio area's performance where it's like, this isn't bad, but it's not what you may be need if the other guys behind you are either injured or presumably going to run up against innings limits at some point because I imagine that the Dodgers would prefer to have Tony Gosselin in October and he will be pitching well past what he has thrown from an innings perspective, given the last couple of years. So it feels somewhat precarious. Yeah, I did see some people suggesting that maybe the playoff stream from last year when the Dodgers were using guys and relief starters and that was kind of criticized at the time and now RES is less effective and Bueller is hurt and Max Scherzer is hurt though he is no longer a Dodger. Right. And it's not an arm injury, but still, I don't know how much to make of that. There is extra mileage that gets put on pitcher's arms when they are on a team like the dashers that makes the playoffs and makes a lot of deep playoff runs every year. So that's something, I don't know whether we can point to those questionable or eyebrow raising instances of bringing guys out of the pen, which is, I guess, somewhat suspect just because of the results that we've seen like in theory and principle, I think it's seems like it would be a good idea, but it doesn't always seem to work out. I don't think it says much of a disaster as some people make it out to be either, but it seemed people drawing that connection. Don't know whether there's any real link there or not. I don't know. I guess I get it a little bit. I would be more inclined to think that it is just a general continued use thing rather than a particular usage thing. Especially with arius, he had prior experience sort of bopping back and forth between roles. So it's not like that was a new thing for him. I know the results weren't particularly Sterling, but I don't know. I would imagine additional mileage on the arm, sure, that I can see being something where you'd have knock on effects over time, but I don't know that I buy the using them sometimes out of a bullpen specifically. I mean, I guess they may be through more innings, but they also weren't very good, so sometimes they got pulled. Yeah, right. And we talked a little bit about Atlanta. Yeah, so Conan, when he was writing, that was still active and he wrote after tonight's win I went to the standings as I wasn't sure how many wins they had rattled off. I come to find they are at 9 in a row to my surprise that's not even the best streak as the graves hit ten. They're up to 11. Now I then see the Marlins won their 5th straight, the nets are at two in a row and the mets yet to play at the time of this email one last night to rebound from Alaska previous Nate added up this is 27 straight wins for the entire NL east. Wow. Now I'm not one who goes to the standings more than once a week, so I'm not sure how common this is, but it struck me as quite good. At first I thought this is good, but not great, but even since we've gone to 6 divisions, there probably aren't that many days that go by where at least two teams in the division don't play, so the fact that all teams have one, their last game probably doesn't happen all that often, maybe a few times a year, and then to have three teams at 5 or more seemed a little special, so in the current division construct, what is the most consecutive games one where all teams had won their last game and I think we mentioned late last week that the NL central had lost a bunch of games in a row. So frequent step bus consultant Ryan Nelson, I won't make this into a full stat blast because it's kind of a quick answer, but Ryan researched this looked into the numbers and he found that at least at the end of a day at the end of play on any given day, the record, it's actually a tie for 23 wins in a row for a division. So this is going back to 1969 the start of the divisional era and it was entering this year I think a three way tie. So it happened may 5th, 1970 in the NL west, July 17th, 1982 in the AL east, and June 27th, 2008 in the AL central, all of those cases there had been 23 consecutive wins now for losses, the record is 25. In the AL west on July 17th, 1982, which weirdly is the same date as the corresponding AL east win streak that I just mentioned. Actually, I guess it wouldn't be that weird maybe because when division was winning constantly in one division was losing constantly. So that was the record for losses within a division 25 in a row. So as for this year, our listener Conan was correct, I think, that it was 27 in a row for the NL east. Now, Ryan couldn't crunch the numbers looking like within one day's games, like to see if a team had lost that day before another team won within the same division like looking at start time or end time or something he couldn't quite do that. But just looking at the end of the day, it does appear that this year's NL east has tied that again. So at the end of the day on June 10th, the NL east collectively had won 23 in a row so they tied the record, but then the mets last and that ended the NL east streak. But still, pretty impressive that this tide. So everyone in the NL east was winning and it's not that the mets have been bad..

It's fascinating to me that were at this point and given the amount of starting pitching depth that we thought the dodgers had at the beginning of the year. You look at what happened monday. You think to yourself man. This dodgers seem really needs starting pitching and it's just amazing that were here. You talked about tony. Gosselin clayton kershaw. Who is hurt. It's julio reas who has had a great year but he is blown past his previous career high in innings. You gotta some point. You're going to have to monitor. It's david price was spent the whole year in the bullpen. Who is just now being stretched out. Obviously we know what's going on with. Trevor bauer this is the dodgers team. That desperately needs starting pitching. But as i've been hearing leading up to the trade deadline allowed teams. Want starting pitching this month starting pitcher. He's going to be especially difficult to come by this year from what i've heard. The giants focused leading the trade deadline. Probably is going be bullpen. Help and i think as we get closer the deadline a lot of that will be available. You touched on. Trevor bauer situation. He's got that hearing later in the week. There's no point in getting the weeds of the back and forth on the charges in terms of the dodgers situation. Think the question going forward is Will the dodgers continue to You know stand behind. Trevor bauer and the fact that they hold their bauer merchandise to me was a strong clue that they are preparing for the possibility of not having it for the rest of the year and that would involve a whole lot of stuff Which again we. We can't really get into the weeds on without requiring a three hour podcasts. But generally speaking. What's the sense in the dodgers organization that you have about our whether or not he's going to be part of the team moving forward but so this is a really difficult situation when you look at all the allegations that have come to light. There's a reason why that administrative leave was extended to where it was. He doesn't obviously have testified on behalf but he will be there. And i think that will be a big part of what happens. Moving forward particularly with the criminal investigation. Everybody i speak to in baseball around the dodgers specifically with the dodgers but around that team the thought from everybody is that it's hard to picture him pitching and putting on that uniform again regardless of what plays out here We'll see though you gotta let the legal process play out. "So you could argue this is in some ways this spring training. Remember he was coming into spring training. Off the shoulder surgery, so he didn't get much action in spring training because he didn't even get into the lineup until spring training was almost over. Then, you know four games into the season as a broken legs. Now he's back on the injured list. Comes back, You know, then he has his latest step back now he's just come back. And as you mentioned starting to hit a group, so you know, dive. You're certainly hoping that once he gets this round of extended playing time that he'll More closely resemble the player that was the most valuable one in the National League two years ago. This Dodgers team is probably in one of the more contested races anywhere, and you know the Padres the Giants. Uh, when it's all said, and done with all shakes out the, uh do the Padres have the staying power does because for the while the Giants look like they just they were going to hit and hit and hit in pitch and pitch and pitch, And then the Dodgers made them look kind of foolish year in their recent series. Uh, is this one going to go to the and or is there going to be a horse that ultimately just runs away down the stretch? We're only at the All Star break. Yeah. I mean, it's a little bit hard to tell because we sort of assume from spring training that this would be a two way race with the Dodgers and Padres, and nobody really projected the Giants being a part of it. But Giants has certainly had, you know enough chances to fall out of it and You know you pick up the standings today, and they're still in first place. And you know what's the Probably the best division in baseball in terms of the top heaviness of the, you know. Leading the division. The divers have always been about depth. They have not been about one or two or three players. And indeed they've showed that this year as you mentioned, you know, Bellinger has been hurt for awhile. Seeger has been hurt for a while. Um, Dustin May he was supposed to be one of their top starting pitchers is out for the year after surgery. At one point early this year, they had what seemed like half the bullpen on the injured list. They're still there. You know there. Right behind the Giants in the standings, and not far So, uh, if that plays out the way it has over the past eight years when the Dodgers have won the division every year, you know be hard to bet against him at this point. Yeah, it would. It would. They are fun to watch. I'll tell you that much. It's weird. I don't know if this is just me. But you know, I go to go to games from time to time, especially when when my cubs are in town like I said, but The pitching has been so good and you know the checks for foreign substances and all those things, but Is it just me or is this the games I went to, But games are hitters are either hitting home runs or or not at all, like like it's it's.
