Saints do not sign Antonio Brown following workout
"The Tonio Brown posted earlier this morning that he was He posted a picture and then he took it down of his. His waiver. Waiver is signed sheet of for a waiver workout with the New Orleans saints the NFL announced when Brown was released earlier this season after playing. Just one game for the New England Patriots that it would consider putting him on paid leave a placement on the commissioner's exempt list if he was signed by another team the lease Ben Investigating allegations made by two women against Brown of Rape Sexual Assault and sending threatening text. Messages Brown has denied the accusations and has filed a counterclaim against one of the women. So what we don't know is what the New Orleans saints are indeed doing are they. Did they workout workout Antonio Brown among many others did they work out Antonio Brown with a concept of saying if it went will would you consider signing him now. How or is this a future investigation? Something to look at when they're off season begins whenever that is. Does it matter John in the locker room today. Today from the New Orleans Saints Does the reason he was in for a workout an interview matter and does it play in the locker room. Is it a conversation piece.
Did the Raiders contact Antonio Brown's agent before Brown apologized?
"Something i wanted to get to the bottom of was did the raiders in fact contact. Rosenhaus awesome tonio brown's agent. I've seen this kind of float around but i'm not sure that this is what happens i wanted to see if either of you know <hes> if he was contacted before we're antonio brown's apology on friday and told that the guaranteed money and his contract would be voided as it was at that point so at that point basically antonio only lebron's going in apologizing knowing that the thirty million is a hit is that something that we know was already told to him before the apology or i don't i think to <hes> the bottom line on that is that they didn't have to i mean he knows as well as anybody once they imposed that discipline. They have the right to go after it so i mean i think he's smart enough to know without having that conversation that that was what they were angling for. It was clear we talked about <hes> when we first saw these letters on wednesday basically all those letters. There's are is is a legal paper trail down the road to say here's what happened. We had we had these issues. We had to find him. This is what went on that's all. Those letters are for <hes> so i think rosenhaus kind of knew he probably explai- tube and there i'm positive on some level even though no it's illegal according to the rules of the n._f._l. Under the c._b._a. I'm positive that rosenhaus was talking to other teams and saying if this happens if the contract is voided if for run out what is the market and i'm sure he knew what it was and so like. Did he know those things. I don't. I'm sure he did was explicitly laid out by the raiders. I'm i'm not sure about how that worked but <hes> i'm sure he knew exactly what the situation was yeah so in other words. He knew the patriots were looking at him and that he could play there. Air instead of explicitly said i'm sure he knew what the market was. When you think of maybe this is like a wild theory and so. I got on tin foil hat. You're so picture that all of us but if <hes> excuse me antonio brown got to the raiders he was happy happy for a little while then started practicing with these guys right maybe gets the training camp and he's like what they're not going to be very good and then he's just decides besides you know what bleep this. I'm just going to act ugly. I'm gonna throw crap all over the walls until i'm just going to keep doing it. Even though you tell me to stop even though you tell me you know i'm gonna find you find me on posting on instagram like i'm going to now make it even bigger mess and then he knows that he enforce himself out because he knows that there's maybe a winner. That will be there for him. I think that it's not out of their own with possibility as i now take my tinfoil hat off and put my reporter reporter hat right back on that. This is something that could have happened because when it's five hours after somebody releases you that you are with defending super bowl champions. There's maybe somebody should look into that right. I mean i think i went once the further with my tin foil will happen i tweeted and it was more of a joke but <hes> as as everything in my life does it relates to seinfeld but there was there was an episode of seinfeld where the mets wanted to hire george costanza away from the yankees and they couldn't just hire him because it would be tampering and they wouldn't be able to go hire them away from team so they told him to do everything he could to get fired from the yankees. He started dragging the world series trophy around he was wearing babe ruth pants from the yankee museum. <hes> everything do get fired so that the mets would be able to hire him like in my mind. Bella check like a go create chaos out there. We need to bring you in. That's the only way we can get you and that's again a complete and total conspiracy. Uh but i like to think that it's true. Let's talk about some of the possible reaction and we can expect here from the raiders because i wanna in a hypothesize what derek carr might say about antonio brown's tweet of bumper cars meaning. He and his brother david had been doing some conversation about antonio brown. That's what i interpreted that tweet demean. I can't imagine it would mean anything else so cars generally very nice well-spoken guy in front of the media very even temperament. Do we expect any crazy reaction from him. Certainly not i mean he's a quarterback right and quarterbacks are always is going to be measured in what they say. Now i do sort of wish that we have been hearing directly from derek carr instead of through really an intermediary as his brother on n._f._l. Network right. I think especially because derek carr was in the locker room today and we were told as he came back in that he was not going to be talking and and that's fine. He certainly has that right and he's a quarterback. He speaks one time a week but i just think it would have been nice to hear directly from derek carr car <hes> since you know he had been nothing but supportive i totally respect dirk are not talking but i think that you know it just it just would have been nice to hear from the quarterback in that particular situation and he doesn't have to but he could've essentially descending out press releases. I mean through his approach. That's what he's doing in. They're not it's not it's not like they're being secretive about it. I think that's that's the one thing i'll say about this is like if it was just some secret that if it was some random person in the media and derek carr was feeding things to get it out there and not talking to the media locally but hey i'm gonna feed this to whoever you you know whatever national reporter and it's coming out saying oh source close to the team said like that would be a little bit different to me than in this case. It's basically his brother going on tv serving mrs mouthpiece and saying explicitly. I talked to derrick this morning. Here is what he said. I think they're being pretty open about it. It just it clearly rubbed antonio radio brown the wrong way and you know we saw the other day he unfolded the raiders and derek carr on instagram and then reformed the raiders but not car like that was pretty telling of where they are have a check dam sure he unveiled the raiders as well now he did. Yes yeah <hes> but you know. I think that was incredibly telling that when he did follow the raiders he did not re follow derek carr. You know i it was pretty clear that that relationship was was heading in the wrong way. Even though derek carr continued to say how close they were and how they've played well after field and here's the other thing it listen it's part of the job we understand but how many times jon gruden was asked how many times micmac was asked just how many times derek carr was asked about the distractions in about everything that's going on and how many times they basically said. You're inventing this you guys the media are inventing the story story. No no weren't by the way to the same thing to the readers out there to the fans out there like these things are not invented. There's a reason isn't that story. Lines are storylines. This was something that was going on and it was bubbling over all the time and it was distracting the team. It was bothering the team. It certainly had been an issue for a while and now it just has has reached that point where they couldn't deal with it anymore but i think it would absolutely not be surprising if it was something that tonio earlier brown was like i need to do this i need to get out and this is my way out and the other thing is it wasn't blown out of proportion either. That's the that's the phrase that like gets on my nerves a little bit. <hes> men like all these things you're saying. They were blown out of proportion. It's blown out of proportion. He's just a wide receivers blown out of proportion. Friggin von miller said that on on a conference call the other day no. It's not blown out of proportion when you're yelling at g._m. In practice right you're posting your fines on instagram. When you ask on instagram to be released win. You recorded your ahead coach with a stencil your head coach with the conversation. Put it on a two minute youtube video in a two party consent state. I don't really think any of these things are being blown out of proportion so i love what jonathan abram had to say on twitter and he put this out just about a little over an hour ago he says in today's world the worst drug there is called attention
AB reacts to fines from Raiders, has new helmet
"Antonio brown today posted on social media a letter that Mike may operators general manager and sent him finding him for practices and walk there's that he had messed and Antonio brown says now my teams against me on an Instagram store they don't need to go there look you miss walk throughs and you miss things that in your contract so you have to be there for else you will receive fines and Sir you will receive fines for but fifty three million dollars out of thirty million doesn't seem like it's too much of a loss and that just popped up about three o'clock Xena football they make football helmets tweeted out zenith is excited to announce Antonio brown is chosen to. shadow this season of core of it advertisement faster again Tonio brown and their new
The Antonio Brown helmet saga: Is the Raiders' ultimatum for real?
"Tonio brown. Here's the reason why he's part of the conversation is the saga continues to drag rag on after it finally appeared found a helmet that would fit n._f._l. Regulations that helmet also failed n._f._l. Testing and so- antonio brown left training camp again and with the raiders which clearly seems to have tested the patience of their general manager. Mike may off so here's the bottom line. He's upset about the helmet issue. We have supported that. We appreciate that okay but we've at this point. We've pretty much exhausted all avenues news of relief so from our perspective. It's time for him to be all-in. We're all out okay so we're hoping he's back soon soon. We got eighty nine guys busting their tails. We are really excited about where this franchise is going and we hope he's going to be a big part of it. Starting week one against denver and story no question again. He did not take any questions that was not a scheduled news. Conference just came over to the reporters reporters and volunteered all of that and you take a look at what has been an eventful training camp to say the very least for antonio brown has the frostbite on the feet caused by the cryotherapy machine chain then the arbitrator ruling against him now again he has left camp over anger for being denied the use of his helmet and we're very pleased to have antonio brown's agent drew rosenhaus house live with us here on get up this morning drew. Thank you for doing this and i will ask you as directly as i can specifically. Why is antonio brown not in camp with the raiders right now well first of all mike do think he's going to be back soon and we're looking into any and all options right now
Antonio Brown's grievance to wear old helmet denied by arbitrator, says he'll rejoin Raiders
"The NFL has issued its ruling on and Tonio brown's helmet Cameron grace tells more open raiders receiver Antonio brown losses grievance of the NFL over his use of an old helmet it is no longer certified as safe to use for practice or play the arbitrator issued the ruling after hearing with brown representatives from the league and the players union afterwards brown tweeted quote while I disagree with the arbitrator's decision I'm working on getting back to full health is looking for to rejoining my teammates on the field he added quote I'm excited about this season appreciate all the concerns about my feet referring to injuries are reportedly came from frostbite suffered while getting cryotherapy treatment in
Tonio Brown, Raiders And June Ramsey discussed on CBS Sports Radio
"So it Tonio brown here right the raiders training camp in a hot air balloon this was after June Ramsey showed up in an armored truck how do you feel about the entrances do you like them or is it getting to be too much the hot air balloon doesn't bother me so much other than like people could easily say I I turn around there's a guy full hotter given if that if anybody else it web I prior to love this it's it's cool and it within thirty round it's fine to it that that's actually clever and creative I
Antonio Brown A 'No Show' For Start of Oakland Raiders OTAs
"Let's get the raiders in. Okay. They traded Fran. Tonio Brown, meet him the highest paid tackle ever. And then moved him to the second most important tackled as Asian whereas the Steelers moved the noise out of the building bayside and put the noise Antonio Brown in the building. They even made noise at the draft. They sent scouts home in the NFL noise meter.
"tonio browns" Discussed on Skip and Shannon: Undisputed
"CorP app today to catch a ride or give a ride to work her home ride together. With ways carpool Tonio Brown is arguably the best receiver in the NFL, but his reputation is taking a big hit to AB is a writer now, but he's been calling out former Steeler teammates, including juju Smith Schuster on his way out the door. Here's what former head coach Jack del Rio said about A B, I love the talent. But in Tokyo Brown has clearly shown that he's going to be a pain in the ass. He's a very talented guy. And I would love to have him. I would I would work with him. No problem. If players have talent, you tend to tolerate it a little bit unless it becomes disruptive to your team. If he continues doing the things he's been doing just like he upset the Steelers. He's going to upset the next team. He is on f s one NFL analyst John Merriman. Joining us today. So you shaking your head during that some heavy words from Jack del Rio will ABA problem in Oakland. Absolutely. You know, he was right about that. He was also right that they're going to tolerate it as long as he keep produced on the field. That's never going to be issue to me and Tonio Brown thinks he's done lately. I can tell you which one is is the absolute worst for me is not going to juju over social media is not even throwing a ball at been rosins burger the worst thing he's done. So far was go live on live stream with his coaching locker room. Agreed. Because it's it's a reason why the media isn't allowed in fifteen minutes when guys get back in a locked room because the coaches and the players say and do things that the media isn't allowed to here. So when you do that to me that's the alternate cardinal sand. So anything worse net. Really don't get worse. The Oakland Raiders already knew what they were getting they understand that Antonio Brown. If he's if he stays wanted a top three wide receivers in the National Football League. I don't care what he does as long as he doesn't do anything off to feel to get arrested. Get in trouble do something. It's going to take him away from him playing football. They're going to tolerate any and everything. So he's right. I don't care what he does coaches. And even if he's up to the team teammates, don't like Figo out there. And he's he's toppy wide receiver. Anybody gonna deal with it? Because you know, what there's been more players in the National Football League. Who's done worse things? This still got another opportunity to play football. Would you be going going to be a problem? Hilly already a problem. He tweeted he got he got his money. He's happy. He the way from being he the way from juju. He the way from a coach Tomlin and his teammates that he feel stabbed him in the back by voting juju MVP either way from bed. But was he wants to turn around and talk about his time there and tweeted and take the tweeted juju? Yeah. Here's the problem in jacket that blue right? I know Jag. Very well. Play to give Jack thing is even though you say he's talked to receiver Helis top three last year. And guess what? Pittsburgh tired of it. Is there another enough? We don't get a hundred another hundred catch season another twelve hundred yards. Fifteen touchdown. For third and a field owed L Winfield whip for one in the third in daily had kind of sees this kid, but you see. They say Mike Tomlin famous quotes will tolerate you until we can replace it. I don't know if they replaced him, but they could no longer tolerate his behavior..

"Because I'll tell you this in Tonio Brown was not anything like what he was this year. I mean, he has we have seen a personality GM to call. Kevin Kolb wa Kobe. I know, but I don't agree with how. I just feel but like he's always all there's no drama. Like we disagree with the idea that the trauma. It's like, okay. But everyone watching the Steelers from the outside feels the drama was the evil ingredient that separated star power from this rock, and you know, it's so funny about that. Because I was listening back to so Mike Tomlin when he comes to the owners meetings. Does this little session with just local reporters, and I have been invited to that the last two years which? No, it was sort of. It's not even a humble brag. It's just I'm lucky, and I am on tender hooks. It doesn't get taken away. Because of whatever we may happen to say in this podcast. But last year, you know, it's sort of a free flowing. He's a little more relaxed. We talked for about twenty twenty five minutes, whatever, and it's a very small group, and we sit around and table. So last year, I said to him at the end of the session. I said, well, you know next year. I'd appreciate a little less drama. I'm not sure I can take it. And he said back to me. I'm not worried about you. But I foresaw this coming I mean a year ago, and I actively said at that time last year less drama would be good this year. We only saw more drama. But now this year, he was the key dramamine more DD on television. I suppose, but you know, what here's a truth. More stern phone calls to husband. I'm about to go on. Stop calling me on multiple devices guys. This is such a professionally speaking it's great for us when there are things to talk about. And when people are fascinated by whatever it is you are talking about. But I'll tell you very very honestly when I got it when I fell in love with this game. When I fell in love with journalism when I got into this. It wasn't stories like this that got me going, and while sure in some ways, this is nice for my career that people are fascinated by what I'm talking about. It's not any fun to talk about this who wants to talk about guys who. The only. Just. Didi and west. Jealous. No. I just like I I can see where it's going. We talked about how the players felt about Ben Rothlisberger. How did the players feel about lady on bell and Tonio Brown by the end of the year? I don't you know at no point has anyone thought that lady on Ballard? Antonio Brown is a bad teammate or a bad guy to play with or not a hard worker or not to say that. That's what they think of Ben this these are two separate questions, but there's never been any negative thought. I think that what happened at the end with Antonio just became a little bit too ridiculous. And I think the team itself. Ross too tight with with the appetite for any of this. I mean, you heard Jesse James go to Detroit and he played for his hometown team. The Steelers it was a dream and he got to Detroit. And he said, you know, what it was just time to get away from the drama, and you have Ramon foster who's wanted. Players way more money than the Steelers would have ever had. Well and had plans to use him in a variety of ways that are greater than the way. The Steelers used him. Sure, there are multiple reasons. But he still said that you know, it's the same thing that I would say to you that. Being around all of that. We can week out the constant, it's exhausting. It's tiring. And there's not that lift of. There's an energy any reporter who regularly spends time in a locker room and tells you that he or she doesn't care if the team wins or loses is full of it. Because of winning locker room is always a better place to be people are in a better mood. They're more gregarious. They have more time for you. The question asking is not so owner since always better to be around a happy team..

And so the question becomes do the ends justify the means does the money justify Tonio Brown's behavior. I am Being honest. And I. I gotta tell you something and it's not easy for me to admit this. But I just. If somebody I'm just setting people up here in case, I got a question about it either on Twitter or someone called in and asked. Would you do this? If I told you you could make thirty million dollars, but you had to abruptly quit your company. When they were. They needed you the most you had a deadline to hit or it was the busiest time of year, you're a CPA and it's April fourteenth, and you quit. And then you spend the next month bashing that company and taking no responsibility for your actions. But I tell you if you do that. You're gonna make. Antonio brown. Make made thirty million dollars doing it this way, maybe the equivalent for you is in your life. It's got a net. You have a half a million or you're going to make three hundred grand. You might think it's worth it. Yeah. You might have one sleepless night. I can't believe I'm doing it this way. But. If money is.

Steelers to trade Antonio Brown to Raiders: Who won, who lost?
"Talking Antonio Brown just tweeted, hashtag raider nation and a picture of him in an Oakland uniform. So he's reportedly according to profootballtalk getting a new deal as part of a trade to the Oakland Raiders. Antonio Brown's three year whole quote will increase from about thirty nine million to fifty million dollars over three years per the pro football talk source know, how much is it. How much was fifty point one to five million years with Oakland? Antonio Brown says he's going to the raiders. Wow. Thank you to Sager. What's your first thoughts? When you hear something like that Torres. And we'll talk the tours when he comes back whatever he's doing that. I know I said did I break that news because I I asked Howard. And he you know, he he jumped right to the raiders I feel like I kind of put the wheels in more. You're taking credit for Howard's picking the raiders. Yeah. I mean, I just you know, nobody was talking about Antonio Brown all week. And I brought it up in ten minutes later. He gets traded. I'm I mean, I'm not saying I'm just saying you know, what I mean? I it does make you wonder that they were a little bit desperate because you know, obviously one more year in Oakland than making a big splash in Las Vegas to. They dropped the ball. I believe on the Khalil Mack thing. They wanted to get relevant and three does that mean that they're going to keep Derek Carr for now for another years? I what's going to happen there Torres see, and this is what I am actually genuinely confused about by the way. I didn't. I didn't like you shooting me down that I kinda shot. You're right. He did you just ignored it. It's okay. So I am a little confused about this though, Arne because what the raiders they trade Khalil Mack. They trade Amari Cooper. We hear that. Derek Carr might be on the trade block. And now they bring in Tony Brown. I I am Tonio Browns. Maybe the most gifted wide receiver in the league. But it just feels like I don't think the raiders what are they doing? Like are they rebuilding? Are. They not rebuilding Zaveri, bazaar, whatever thirteen months since Jon Gruden took over. I think it's a great move for the raiders. Okay. Was that one? They needed a splash like this to they needed some offensive weapons three. They needed something to help Derek Carr. And he's just not getting the help out there. He's he's just trying to do it all by himself. And he's a pretty good quarterback. That's not getting enough help. So. Yeah. Half the go ahead. Yeah. Had to do something. This is once they got rid of Amari Cooper. He didn't have enough. If weapons to get to now, he's got one of the best wide receivers. And all the game. I I think raider fans are going to love this. I think they're going to love it. But why do you tear down the team with the guys that you have just to bring in new young guys? You know?

"And Tonio Brown. I'm seeing a lot of different names. I theorized yesterday. Carolina could be interesting. They've got their lebian bell and Christian McCaffrey. They've got a defensive coach what they don't have with Cam who's not a great precision thrower. But he does throw a great deep ball is get them a big time home run threat. Do you think there's a place and it could happen? Very quickly. We're in Tonio Brown lands. I wanna make your podcast, which which is on overnight or whatever. And I'm worried that we're going to say something now, and he's going to be traded in the next two minutes. I'm going to try to give us a vague enough answer. So we can live online, Colin. I would say this don't just believe all the teams that are not how this works. There's going to be a surprise team. I love the Carolina fit. I actually think that's a really good one out of the conference another team. I would give you the New Orleans Saints. And you might be saying, oh, come on the saints have no money to spend. They've got all these guys. They've gotta take care. Mike thomas. There are ways to make it work. And if you think about what would Sean Payton has been about the last few years, it's making a splash going and getting the guy trading a first round pick for next year to get Marcus Davenport signing Dez Bryant, he denied it at the combine because his name was linked to it a little bit Sean say that we're not I wouldn't be shocked at the. The saints are making some phone calls right now. The question is can they get into Neo Brown for a second or third round pick? They don't have a first round pick.

"Agent, drew Rosenhaus. And a lot of an Tonio Brown's erotic behavior. And. Kind of. Narcissistic? Put myself I above my teammates. It's about the individual and not the team a lot of those same qualities in the same. The same same strategies. The same way that the player tries to alienate himself to get new contract. ABC's resume here in ABC's record the last month or so looks a lot like something Terrel Owens would do. He's buddies with Owens. He's friends with Chad Johnson. He's talked to Jerry Rice FaceTime. Friends with flexible Bruce, another Super Bowl winning wide receiver. Somebody who is not in this corner. Larry FitzGerald, speaking at the MIT analytics sports analytics conference. Fitzgerald said, quote, I love AB mister big chest is a good friend of mine. But I don't think he's going about it the right way to be able to play with an all time quarterback like he's able to play with. I don't think he understands how good he has it. It can be tough out there. Larry FitzGerald is caught a pass from nineteen different quarterbacks. Antonio Brown is called a touchdown pass from a grand total of one quarterback. Ben roethlisberger. If the Steelers offered Antonio Brown a new deal right now. He wouldn't have a problem with Ben Rothlisberger anymore. Brown's motivated to get more money in it. Sure seems like he's willing to do anything to get. But I don't know which team is going to be a dumb enough to give up a lot in the trade forum and be once they get them. Silly enough to dole out a big contract extension. ABC's what Odell Beckham junior got sixty five million dollars guaranteed. Brandin cooks after the trade from New England to LA twenty million guaranteed. He's gonna watch what Amari Cooper gets from the Cowboys. And he's probably thinking, I'm thirty one years old. I'm not going to have a chance to get another contract. I've got to do something about it right now. Want to get your thoughts at eight five five two one two four CBS which you wanna Tonio Brown on your team? That's eight five five two one two four two two seven. Let's talk to Mike in Indiana. He's on CBS sports radio. Hi, mike. Hey, how you doing? Hey, Ben, the fighting Irish lifelong Steeler fan. Okay. I I'm glad it's finally someone degrees. It's being about the ravens quarterback. He can't pass his way out of a wet paper sack. Run up all day long. Coverage breaks down. All right, anyway, I think the Steelers get with the maros trae for Odell straight up. They're both divas giants stuff for your hotel. Maybe they can parlay Antonio Brown in picks that they need. All right. Mike may make that trade in your fantasy league. Next fall. That's not happening. Why when you're a team that has already been labeled the Kardashians. Steelers have by their own players guys like juju Smith Schuster Jesse James T J watt. Cam Hayward, Al Villanova. Those guys have said we need to cut out the drama. Why would you trade one? Melodrama for another. Makes no sense. But I really do. Appreciate listening. Here's Jason Alabama. He's on CBS sports radio. Jason. Hey, how are you? Hey, man. If you if you draft collar Murray Hurst overall didn't want would you not want to try for Antonio Brown. When you've got collar Murray who verbally agreed to a contract with Oakland A's. Agent came out and said he will baseball. Yup. And then he backed out of that go to ball. So if you would draft collar Murray, why would you not take the drama within Tonio Brown is because at the end of the day to me. I don't want either one of them because neither one of them are trustworthy. Has Kyle Murray. This is Carla Murray quit on his team before like in season has he busy caused a locker room stir has he has he abandoned his team when their season was on the line. Did he did he blow off the college football playoff game against Alabama because he wanted to get ready for the NFL draft. No. But what's not to say that he sits for two years wherever he goes. And then he decide oh, well, I'm not going to he's not gonna he's not gonna sit. He's not going to sit for two years. If he doesn't have the career that he thinks he's going to have. And he goes, well, I'll just go play baseball. And I'll just you think. Hold on. I agree with if if he's bad I think he'll go try baseball. If he's the number one pick in the draft. He's not waiting two years to play. He's playing right away. Right. L situation. First overall, pick you want him to come in and sit, but that's not how today's world works. Exactly. You know, I'm a panther fan. There's no way I would want collar Murray. Okay. I get that man. And I don't. I've made that point that I think Murray should get criticized for breaking his contract with the as. Tonio brown. To me. We've got that just one isolated incident. We've got example after example of him asking for and receiving preferential treatment taking advantage of it. Not acting like a team player. Facebook live after a playoff win. Tirades on the bench skipping meeting. Skipping practice flipping out undependable. For the biggest game of the year doesn't show up. And now he wants a team to lavish him with a new contract. He's making threats is in a position. He's not so invaluable, and so awesome. He doesn't play an important position. Antonio Brown isn't a franchise quarterback. He's not Aaron Rodgers. He's not even Aaron Donald. Why would you want to give up a lot for a guy and they'd have to give him a big contract just to make them happy before he even.
Ben Roethlisberger is 'clearly a part of the problem'
"Next. Next team president art Rooney. The second said Wednesday that talks have started between the Steelers and Ben Rothlisberger on a contract extension. Big Ben who turns thirty seven in March has one year remaining on his current deal. And let's keep in mind. There's been a lot of drama and Pittsburgh fellas and Tonio Brown apparently wants out lay beyond bells that out the entire season. Not to mention that Big Ben has been going back and forth on retirement these past couple of seasons. Tedy Bruschi still here with us joining us from the Pro Bowl and Orlando I teddy. There you are. We got you got you and all your friends in the background is big and more of a problem or a solution because this franchise feels like a mess right now. Because both he's he's definitely a part of the problem because they no other men in which he's handled things. I mean, again, you know, you you've got numerous players. You've got numerous NFL aficionados that have religiously called out Big Ben for saying things in throwing people under the bubble in the fashion of the quarterbacks. Don't this is not me talking. This is basically reporting what they've said as max is done as many others. If you watch Big Ben you talking about juju Smith Schuster. We should have thrown the ball of him every time you say something like that. You've got to know you've been around Antonio Brown long enough to know, how those kind of things would affect him along with various other things in other positions that he has taken that. We don't have time to get into in the end when it comes down to is that has made him a part of the problem because Big Ben is live by different set of rules. He's a bit flagrant with it. And I don't give a. AM who you are anytime you receive preferential treatment that you are you are playing by different set of rules as everybody else you are going to rub people the wrong way, especially when you consider the individual who abuses, the privilege. That's the bottom line. Having said all of that. When you look at Big, Ben he's also a part of the solution because nobody's perfect everybody makes mistakes. And if you're willing to man up in knowledge that you could have done better in certain respects. I think that would go a long way, I think the thing that the Tonio Browns of the world and others that are incredibly frustrating is not that big been mixed the mistakes, they made is that he doesn't necessarily he isn't necessarily deemed as an individual that learns from apologized showed the pope level of contrition and move forward without making sure not to repeat those mistakes again throughout the years. You've seen a pattern of behavior that has been consistent with him in that he has gotten away with it. If you listened to those NFL players Antonio Brown is one of those NFL player. Here's somebody that has said that. And as a result, you a big band you want to alleviate this situation you speak up. You recognize us where you're at fault. And I think if he did that that would go along way. So he's both a problem and a problem solver in all of this because he's right in the middle of everything as the stock quarterback of the team who obviously has is outspoken, Saddam. Well, we agree and disagree because I think he is part of the problem the solution. But for very different reasons part of the problem because Ben Rothlisberger is like a rich man's Eli manning. He is too good for your team. Just to stink almost no matter. What's going on? Right. You're good. A win some games. Maybe make the usually make the playoffs. So how do you get his successor? There's no succession, I just talked about how you know, unless you're Bill Belichick level. And it's not so easy to find a quarterback when you're not drafting up high. You know, it's more of a crap shoot. They don't have the person there that they feel can take the reins of the team if they're truly grooming. It doesn't seem to me on the other end. Therefore at the moment. He reads a lot of power because when you don't have that. But you do have a talented team. And you have a quarterback who's shown he can still play at a very high level, and we're in an era. That's right teddy in an era where older quarterbacks are clearly protected in ways. They've never been you look the level. Tom Brady is still playing at forty one. Drew Brees at forty then rothlisburger at thirty seven that that they realize, oh, wait a minute as beat up as he's been as much as he talked about retirement. He's still maybe has some years of football left in him. We don't have as backup. So he wields probably too much influence and he seems to at times publicly throw players under teammates under the bus. He's a problem because he's too good to get that next quarterback with the draft pick. He's your solution to the extent that you're good because he's a really good quarterback. And if you ain't got that, you ain't got anything. I'm with both you here because Big Ben has been a problem, and he can be a part of the solution. But this is what's happening here as you're talking about max. The quarterbacks in this league getting older and older and still being able to play past forty. What's happening is a generational gap. A generational gap between the quarterback and all of the younger skilled players and all of the younger players on defense that are ended up being a part of this team and the ability to relate. So they're almost these kids are coming in plan. I mean rothlisburger will have players coming in make sure that have had his poster on the wall or something like that that group as fans, and so how does that quarterback that aging quarterback you mentioned breeze Brady and rothlisburger? How was he able to relate to them and make them feel like still an equal? And as one of his teammates, this is where Ben Rothlisberger has failed has he failed. Also and other aspects where Stephen as talking about what he's calling out teammates where he's got no business when he should have when he's the one making bad plays. Also. Yes, I agree with that. But he needs to learn to start to relate to these younger generation of players because he will continue to get older, and that gap is. Real and you'll see players life Brees. How he still it seems like medicine Brady and breathes? They're old. Okay. How do they still have these close bonds with these young players that come into their teams and their teammates talking about them like they're best? How does that happen? There's something. Character wise that breeze and Brady has right now that Rothlisberger is lacking. I need your help with something here. Because here's what you lost. You talked about him relating to the other players, and I don't disagree with that teddy. The problem is it eight the younger players complaining about him and Tonio Brown is thirty years old. He's been big big Big Ben Rothlisberger his teammate for almost the past decade. And so this is I'm not saying that, you know, the he's thirty seven thirty thirty seven like Big Ben is, but he ain't twenty eight twenty one like did you Smith Schuster? The man is thirty the last six seasons. He's had a minimum of one hundred one receptors a minimum of twelve hundred and eighty seven. Yard. He's produced. Poor Big Ben he's been a primary target for Big, Ben. And yet that's where the problem seems to lie at this particular moment in time. So how do you explain that? And I'll put it up put it simply then because I agree with you there. It's a feeling that I've had with the quarterback that I played with and a lot of the saints and a lot of these older players on these teams that are mentioning they have the overwhelming thought in their mind that my quarterbacks got my back. No matter what that's what I think's not there in Pittsburgh. It seemed like it seems like if something happens the quarterback isn't there to either bail you out off the field the Bill you out on? That's what it is. I don't know if they feel the same way some of these saints and other players that this quarterback. He's got my
Art Rooney II: Steelers considering Antonio Brown trade
"Steelers, president art, Rooney the second speaking of sealers made some very limiting comments about intoning Brown his future. There is murky implied. He will be gone next season, but he gave a little wiggle room. He was asked to be season coming back, and he said as we sit here today, it's hard and vision that, but there's no sense on closing the door on anything today. We don't have to make those decisions right now. Whether the situation can be reconciled and having back on next year, we're not closing the door on anything there. Then Antonio Brown posted this photo on his social pages after that with the caption good business hashtag. I don't know that means, but. Solid sold ownership for sure I I don't think feelers to make a decision on Tonio Brown right now either. I think let the let the season kinda similar let everyone's emotions calmed down a little bit get everybody in a room have a conversation and see if you guys can all get on the same page. I don't think that's going to happen. But it's possible.

"Story for dot com. Kind of detailing that this has been building from the beginning of training camp to several absences through. Throughout the year. Do you have any idea how much of a true locker room problem? He's been or is it merely that it it manifests itself occasionally with these absences. Yes. It's really the ladder for years. You know, the on Tonio Brown. I thought the several current and ex players and teammates about this is in an affable guy. They love to hang out with them. He's a tireless worker when he is working on the field and produces it at all for level. But when it comes to, you know, be on time or even presidents of meetings. You know, the occasional flare up on the sideline just those things have sort of boiled under the surface for years, and they kinda went unchecked. And then as one Claire told me like this is never a problem when we were winning. But now it's in the media, so people are digesting really the full scope of the Tonio Brown experience here in Pittsburgh. And so I it's you know, you which is what you get with him. I think on that level. And you know, you get maybe not be the perfect example for young players as far as meetings and things got Jeremy the tipping point appear to be Antonio Brown's. Disinterest in running an extra hot route in practice. But it's hard for me to buy that. There was not a lot of steam that led to that boiling point. But how did we get to this juncture where we find ourselves envisioning a scenario wherein Tonio Brown is not a Pittsburgh Steeler. I know which is which is credited shield. I mean, we can piece together some theories and some events that part of the problem isn't Brown is going about talking anybody's. Nobody really got a full explanation as to widest really occurred. But I know Brown wasn't happy with brothers pervious criticism. And we've twelve of his route and Denver led to an interception that he could run a more flat route, you know, he tried to take it in stride and be a good team. But he wasn't thrilled. Certainly about that. You know, really coach. My Tomlin has tried to check them a little bit more impress them a little bit on certain issues, including deciding to not play them. And I think that set him off maybe in the past. He would have actually played them. You know, there was an instance where? And training camp Brown head kind of like a a group of people employs whether it's like a social media folks are trainers, and they were all on the field. And then, of course, Brown left for a couple of days came back. They weren't there. So that could have been a clash with he and Tomlin. So I think it's a lot of little instances oiling of. And here's one I did hear from from a team source that would you Smith Schuster getting all this claim and and winning the team MVP award. Did Brown just say, okay, see what you can do without me. I'm gonna you know disappear for a little bit. And let's see how it looks when I'm not drawing double team's leaving bell action. They're very sounds very similar. We're talking to SPN's Jeremy Fowler on the shell Pennzoil performance line at sarahspain and field Yates, this is reminding me because I'm close to this story of Jimmy Butler. A guy who was picked fairly low became a max player and seemed change very drastically. And according to reporters in the bulls locker room, and then if. Of course, everything that went down with the T wolves doesn't seem to be the guy that he was when he came into the league. And maybe it's more difficult to have that kind of success versus being the superstar your entire life and easing your way into it. How much does it seem to you? Or to the team like he's changed with the money in the fame because that's certainly seems to be some of the accusations coming from the likes of Ryan Clark and others that know the team. Sarah. That's clearly an interesting theory that that could be play it's hard to quantify exactly when someone gets changed or win their their personality and mood changes in the locker room. I will say the dishes specifically was very different. And he was on the second year of his extension. They put four year sixty million on his original contract. And he's been kind of divisive with the media all year..

"First of all Tokyo Brown. Obviously the behavior is unacceptable, but it's been going on for a while. Ben Rothlisberger calling out his teammates publicly. That's not normal quarterback behavior. Levy on bell front office mismanaged that Mike Tomlin clearly can't keep it all under control of the thirty for thirty. You're going to be doing on this. But simply are the Steelers going to have to trade in Tonio Brown. I sure hope not because of the way contractors structure and the amount of dead money that would hit their tap would put them in a lot of trouble and really jeopardize Benz window in terms of competitive Huge. edge. Good quit on the team. And is made a talked about twenty one point one million dollars. If they trade him or releasing dead cap money. This is a team in turmoil. It has been since the beginning of during the off season with bell, and it's gone on all season long. What proud franchise is at the bottom of the league. Now in terms of the way it deals with its people here. I mean, you can say he argued quit on his team. But you could argue his fifteen touchdowns if not even an argument where Pittsburgh Steelers record, and he did his part if he's angry with the head coach and the quarterback being to aligned or what have you then I I find with that. Because look he's producing for you the problem. If you're the Pittsburgh is what do you do? Now. Do you hit your wagon to you've got Levy on bell tweeting where we go in next together? Big, bro. Like, this is a mess, and you have to figure out whether you want wanna hit your wagon to to Ben Rothlisberger the older or the quarterback Tonio Brown was thirty and might not be as prime for much longer or running back to you already have to mend fences with the coach of the team. Mike Tomlin today Clinton coaches you hear from it. I heard a guy who's lost control of this program going on I g lie talk about you behind your back. Naps in issue. But that's what overall I blame this on the GM. You do what you were dealing with from the roster standpoint. There's some people that believe they've been is actually the one that has to go in this scenario, and they've got to figure that out because you can't get rid of baby. He's the best player on the team. But the money is so messed up that's on the GM all the cards and shaking out at the wrong time for this team. Never mind going on. I g live talk about you behind your back. Not an issue. The ruling families familiar with. That's something we're dealing with an all, right. We'll move to James harden, four straight games of forty points and forty per over his last ten games also living at the free throw line at twenty seven free. Throws Monday night. You could say he's the best in the league getting to the lie. The best league getting you to Fallon. You could also say that with him was the foul on that. Would what are you buying out of hardens run at the rockets run and ended up fouth call right there too. That he's the best league. Never big call for traveling even though he does. Weeks ago when they were in fourteenth place. I would put them THAAD so dantonio in heart, and I think got together and said you just got to take over the game. After de shoes we've had and he's done it. He's on the best run since Jordan in one thousand nine hundred eighty six and prior to that Logan in nine hundred seventy six he's having a Grogan in nineteen seventy six I need to know more about this the Logan run. Okay. All right. I've walked right into that. I would have said Coby also on the last fifteen years. Goodyear, is that by you. Terms of the rockets, they will be fine. Now, that's what this is telling you. They put the ball and James harden hands don't worry about the end of the season. They'll have a one through four c but in terms of what James harden is doing man. This guy's the best score in the league that features Steph curry and Kevin Durant like this. And it's probably not even close. It doesn't matter..

"Bad guy. Yes. Ac- see petulant. Yes. See narcissistic is yourself selfish. Yes. He's all those things but his teammates for the most part like him. So you could just see in his body language. His his facial mannerisms that whatever it is. There's a lot bothering this guy this year. You know, you saw him earlier this year. Say different things on social media. Threaten one writer was violence. Call call another one to Pittsburgh writer a racist. Just completely out of the blue skipper not show up on a Monday following a game. Because he was upset. He didn't get a lot of passes the day before they reprimanded him for that. They read them to ride at and I remember the time somebody saying, you think that'll change them. And I go no because it doesn't mean anything Antonio Brown. What are you going to do fine? The guy because he makes millions professional athletes finds don't work with those guys. The only way you get their attention by sitting them down and not playing them. And so I I don't I don't know how you fix it short of at least doing what they did here. But you know, you can't I I don't think sugar coating it with Antonio Brown and trying to shield what's really going on. And and and and you know, misrepresenting a try. To cover up for his behavior is is the right way to handle it. But that's my opinion. And apparently some players feel the same way Jerry dulack because our guest of the Pittsburgh post gazette. You can read his story on the Steelers in Antonio Brown right now, he's on Twitter at Gerry dulack. He's joining us on the shell Pennzoil performance line. Jerry, in your opinion is in Tonio Brown on the Steelers next year. Yeah. I I do believe that you know, they understand what he means that it's football team. And what type of player he is? You know? So yeah, I do believe that I don't know. It is by itself. I mean, you know, could be caused for somebody who say okay that in itself is enough to it's basically insubordination I'm not gonna practice, you know, and and and the effect it would have on on the team. So I get that. I think it's a it's the it's the compilation of things with within Tonio Brown. And you just wonder Wayne is the final straw. And but despite all that I don't think this is the final straw with them if I guess because you asked me I would say, yeah, she'll be back with the team next year. But you know, there comes a point where. You know, he feels a, you know, several player said this to me it's like he feels unappreciated. Well, I don't know how you can feel unappreciated. When you've been to however, many crow balls, you can all pro how many times you're on? You're on the cover of madness year. You do commercials as much as any player in the NFL. I don't I don't see where and Tonio Brown is under appreciate, but that's the way he feels. So if in fact, he feels that way, then you know, I mean who knows what makes the guy think or tick at that point in time. You know, did he feel slighted that he wasn't a team MVP? Yeah. I'm sure he did. But I don't think this is what that's about. I think that that probably just adds to whatever he was already feeling. I just think that's, you know, that's, you know, that's basically another deckchair on the Queen Mary with within Tonio Brown. But I do I do think he will be back. But how you fix the problem? I'm just not sure at this point. Jerry with all this stuff going on. And how does it reflect on Mike Tomlin as a head coach? Well, you know, that's a good question. Because I think that's that's the big point here. And I think you know. Forget for a minute. What the people outside, and this is where for example. I think Mike Tomlin would and I don't think he cares about this. But I think he would win a few more fans who quote who were against him by coming out and saying we're not planning Antonio Brown because you know, everybody, they you know, there's this perception out there that. You know with all this drama with his team over the last two years that Mike palm and doesn't have controlled locker room. And I'm here to tell you that's ridiculous. But it would certainly help in these instances instead of trying to cover up what's going on with Antonio Brown. Do what he did with for Charlotte mendenhall couple years ago. Do what he did. I believe with Eli Rogers last year say look, well, I decided to sit them down because they weren't ready to play. And while he kind of walked and talked around that point the other day when they asked him why didn't play said he made the decision on several guys who weren't ready to play pass it off because of an injury intimating. It was because of his knee injury, which there was no knee injuries. And if he would have just come out and said, you know, we decided to sit him down because he you know, he didn't practice. He want to practice, and he wasn't ready to play at least at least, you know, has some transparency about the whole thing. But internally I think is the bigger problem because you know, if you recall how how long ago, I don't remember when James Harrison if you said it last year after he left. Or if you said it earlier this year, but we talked about Mike Tomlin playing favorites and lock them, boys. Yeah. She does. And James Harrison said that he sees that. And one of the biggest biggest perpetrators of that is in Tonio Brown who the players see what he gets away with. And that's where I think it hurts might Tom. I think it hurts. The more inside his locker room than it does in the court of public opinion. Yeah. Interesting stuff, Jerry dulack, Pittsburgh post gazette, Jerry, appreciate the time. Very much. Thank you. Well, fellas you're welcome. Happy new year to you YouTube YouTube is well boy a lot going on inside that Steelers locker room in some really good insight from Jerry there straight ahead. "Go to Oakland and lose yesterday. Unbelievable. Twenty four to twenty one Chris Boswell missed an extra point. But the story of this game for a while was Ben Rothlisberger getting hurts volume. He stayed out until they started to lose. And then he goes back in. Yeah. We'll ribbon DRAM in the fact that he was back on the sidelines. Sounds like he was cleared to come in. Mike Tomlin said later that. It was the game flow that the game at the time did not allow for him to return. You know, what our interpreted the bottom line? He went into the locker room to get X. Rayed checked out comes back. He's okay. Yeah. Not a great game for an Tonio Brown. Five for thirty five. Jersey was unbelievable though. Eight thirty three touchdowns thirty three points for juju. But the real story was how would this backfield shake out yesterday? Jalen Samuels, Stephen really, the answer was an overwhelming. Jalen Samuels is the guy Stephen really found the end zone, but he had five carries for four yards. One. Touchdown. Jalen Samuels, by the way, seven catches on seven targets of sixteen point two. If James Connor MRs next week and Adam Schefter reported it's possible play. But we'll find out later on. Then you have to figure. Jalen Sanyo's is an Rb to again this weekend's the
Steelers score 3 touchdowns in 24 seconds
"Steeler nation does out. And so was the over in play last night. We'll watch the beginning of this game. We had three touchdowns in twenty four seconds three touchdowns in a span of twenty four seconds. The panthers. I touched down to the game. Followed up by juju. Smith Schuster seventy five yard touchdown one. Dr one play for the Pittsburgh Steelers. Followed up by Cam Newton pick six to put the Steelers up fourteen seven. The Steelers also scored two touchdowns as ban of twenty four seconds later in the game seven touchdowns by seven different players for the Pittsburgh Steelers. And it was that kind of night. It was the start of the game that was really emblematic of both teams. And you thought we would get the strength of both teams to begin with the Panthers opened up their opening drive spread out. Lots of Christian McCaffrey breaking off big runs. The Steelers defense looked noticeably frustrated as they're getting some of these read option looks, but they can't seem to defend in Carolina goes down scores with relative ease. And we thought all right. We're gonna have a ball game. The Steelers on the other side come back instant offense. Exactly who this team is that seventy five yard touchdown pass to juju. Smith Schuster long touchdown passes to end Tonio Brown later in that game. These are all things that are expected in this Pittsburgh offense

"Ago. I think he liked it up today in Atlanta missing Dion John kneel at safety data's hurt them defensively offensively. They get devante Freeman back, which is going to be a big thing for them not only in running game. But also in catching the ball out of the backfield. He creates a matchup problem, but you still ashamed though, they only have one way with all this talent on offense. You have Jones's the new and now ridley's come in with six touchdown rookie. I mean, really may have all that talent on the other side of the ball of your Pittsburgh on your Ben. And you've got an Tonio Brown is are we talking about? I'm not catching the ball enough. If Matt Ryan is making great connection with his receivers Tonio Brown's gonna be looking at Ben like it's competitive here. I need to do what they're doing. Throw me the ball. Before we move on. We'll talk about the big game in the AFC. You got Jacksonville with the number one defense against Kansas City. Who's got the number one scoring offense led by Patrick Mahomes today. Yeah. This offense is dynamic led by Patrick homes. This defense athleticism speed talented every level. This is by far. I think is greatest challenge to date Mahomes and interesting guy, and it's early in his second year is not a gimmick. He's not a guy that defenses is going to be able to figure out. He's there for the long haul. He's the real deal. I think he's a combination of far Rogers, and you see some Russell Wilson's. Hey. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. You don't want me up there in a while. But yeah, yeah. I think he's been he's great. He's going to be great for a long time. You look like you're waiting to say some was it Patrick Holmes related to Patrick Mahomes. My home. Okay. Mom, folks, we're five and these guys are getting punchy up here with one another apparently. But also players who got four game suspension to start the season back on the field. So Jake laser J Carey all just get along. Hey, jay. We've I talked about this in our freedom show on Thursday night football. Some of the names that are coming back this week. Look the same. They get Mark Ingram backing suspension. Sean Payton told me this morning. He's back to his normal workload. He's going to be the starter. And the allows them to take some of the load off of Alvin Kamara David Irving the Cowboys were hoping to have him back. He's still dealing with some personal issues. So he's still not back with the team volunteers perfect. Marvin Lewis told me last night he's gonna play he's gonna start. But they're gonna put him on somewhat of a pitch count Jimmy Smith. He returns to the rich get richer for the Baltimore Ravens. He'll be part of a rotation Cora legion. He returns to the charges. They need him because the injury to both and everybody thought Thomas Davis was coming back. He's been suspended for games. The NFL changed the rule from four weeks to four games. Carolina panthers. Had by one more week until Thomas Davis returns to the Panthers. All right. We'll hear more from Jay later, plus charissa Thompson was it down with Russell Wilson. Our before we go to break. "Tonio Browns in trouble. Mike Tomlin the head coach of the Steelers sitting him down and disciplining Antonio Brown for not showing up for work on Monday. I don't love. The fact Chris Simms that Mike Tomlin said he wasn't here for the the meeting on Monday. Look, I don't care whether to meeting a practice a game. You don't show up for work. You don't show up for work. Don't suddenly undermine the importance of the absence by saying, oh, he he missed a meeting. He didn't show up for work. He got out of bed and said, I'm not going to work, and that's a big deal. If you're being paid seventeen million a year or far less than that. If you're part of a football team, and you're all in you show up for work, and I don't like that very subtle, but unmistakable attempt to downplay it by just calling it a meeting. Am. I am I over doing it here. No agree. No. I think you're I mean, you're might be overdoing it a little bit. But I do think then who asked you know, I do think that he is trying to let you know that it wasn't the most important day of the week. Right. That kind of comment I. I agree with you that he tried to slide that in there just to show. It's not going to ruin our week here that he missed it. But regardless I think the other point you make about Antonio Brown ver you you're one of the leaders of the team. I mean, people do look at you. And what we talk about. Anytime any player is paid big time money by an organization, they're paying you big money not only to perform in the field. But to be that guy that sets a great example for the rest of the football team. Now Tonio Brown goes out there and practises hard and does all that. But the rest of his antics are not good leadership. And it is it does become a distraction and you're seeing if you're watching on TV him Yana coaches on the sideline and everything like that. You know, it's part of the renegade nature that makes the Steelers good. But yet makes them frustrating and seems like they have lack of detail at times. I stole a point that you made earlier this week in an item that I posted yesterday. A pro football talk dot com. The idea that if Odell Beckham junior had done over the last couple of weeks the things that Antonio Brown. Did we'd all be losing our minds and Antonio Brown has gotten a pass through the various things he's done relative to an OB J, the filming of the Facebook live session from the locker room after a playoff game. But but recently, it just feels different feels like something is bothering him. And I hope that yesterday during this extended conversation that Mike Tomlin had with Antonio Brown Tomlin said to him 'Antonio. What's your problem because it sounds like every day? It's something else. What is the core problem that is eating away at you and causing you to act out this way, what's the issue? What's the problem that we can fix? We got to know what the problem is before we can begin to fix it. What do you think his problem? Yeah. Yeah. I don't know. But I will I will agree with you that it does seem more than usual. He has an anger look about him lately. And I know I'm not here as like a psychologist or anything. But I mean God for that. Thank God for that too. But damn I do watch a lot of football and been around a lot of football players. And he just does seem consistently agitated and angry, and whether it's threatening the ESPN I mean, some of the the writers on Twitter, whatever it may be. It's like he's taking it home with them. And he's never getting a break from any of this. So that's where I just I don't know what his deal is. He's obviously frustrated maybe that he's not getting the football enough. I don't think he can sit there and necessarily be mad. I mean, they're trying to get him the football. This is what happens when you're a star of a football team defenses pay attention to you. They roll the safety your way juju Smith juju. Smith Schuster gets to bear the fruits of that. Because of that, you know, and you have to deal with that at some of the good and the bad, but it's just not a good look. And I. I mean, I don't know am I crazy to say that I think this'll be Antonio Brown's last year in Pittsburgh. I think it's come to that point. Yeah. Wow. I do how I would be shocked if he was back next year. I just I wonder how much of it is as basic and simple as Antonio Brown. Not getting the kind of numbers that will get him praise from the fantasy football crowd on social media because he's very attuned to social media and very sensitive to social media. And could it just be that simple that he's not thinking about winning? He's thinking about his numbers. And if I don't have good numbers, I'm going to hear it and see it on my Twitter feed. And I don't want to deal with that tonight. Well, I I think social media will drive anybody crazy. I mean, I don't know. I feel like I'm crazy after I just sit there and look at the phone for like thirty forty minutes on my ipad, my iphone, commu-, computer, whatever it is. And I mean, I do think they're finding out that there's, you know issues with it can be addicting, and and other issues that go along with it. And I I have thought about that. I mean, why is he responding to guys on Twitter about you would be nothing. If you didn't have Big Ben is your quarter who. Who gives a damn? I mean, that's what I get that guy that guy. For the Steelers. So I think it struck a chord with him more than if it was just some other random fan, but he's still Antonio Brown. And I just sit him I picture him sitting there on his couch or his locker room, you know, chair and he's going through his Twitter and just going like comments comments comments like how can that not drive? You crazy Twitter's full of hate. That's what is for the most part. That's why I try to stay off it 'cause I'm a jersey meathead, and I'd have a hard time not responding and saying really mean and dumping, please. Please start going on Twitter. More often. If you I mean, you would see all the mean and dumb things I say about you all the time on Twitter. So maybe you shouldn't check it out. How about this? I got an idea. I got an idea the Steelers should trade Antonio Brown to the raiders for Khalil Mack. You're funny. But you know, what if you are going to trade him maybe all of this dysfunction? That's happening in Pittsburgh right now is on the offensive side of the ball. It is great cover for the fact that the defense is horrible. Yeah. No one is talking about how bad the defense is because we're caught up in Lebanon Belen Antonio Brown. It has this taken away some of certainly distracted with some of the issues on the football field. And we're going to see what this defense is made of this week. Now, again, I will I will say this week one the defense played well, but week two is an absolute disaster and week one was an LeBron's Chris was the Browns won one game since Christmas Eve of two thousand sixteen I know that Mike, but there's more I wasn't the defenses fall in that game. I could sit there and go, you know, hey, it was sloppy weather and they had a few bad breaks. And then they did make a few bad turnovers. Whether it was one of Ben's three interceptions or James Connors fumble that was returned to the one yard line. But I'm not going to sit there and go. Defense was hot garbage and week one. When Cleveland had three hundred twenty seven total yards in five quarters of football and was five for eighteen on third downs. But last week was hot garbage. But I do think let's not forget our man, Patrick, Mahomes and tyreek hill and that group. They're they're gonna make a lot of defenses look real crappy this year, and they unfortunately got to play them week to where you haven't been able to accumulate the knowledge and the breakdowns yet of how they run their offense. And it kinda hit them like a Mack truck. So I'm not totally giving up on this d yet at certainly not as good as I thought this week will certainly be a huge test and back to an Tonio Brown. I mean, if he would be traded. We're getting into the final years of Ben Rothlisberger career based upon what rothlisburger had to say yesterday about Antonio Brown. He would not be happy about a trade guy that he thinks is one of the best receivers in the NFL. Here's here's specifically Rothlisberger had to say. He was the best in the world. And you're the best in the world. You want to help you wanna win football games and role though because we're not winning right now. ABC's very passionate football player. I think we all know that the fans know that. And that's what makes them special is is his passion for this game and the passionate be great. And so we're not gonna wanna take that away from him. Boy, that's rare to see that kind of attitude from Ben Rothlisberger, very magnanimous. Yeah. Right. Very very very supportive of his teammate. No blame being cast on anyone that he was not injured in the process of making Netscape. And I mean that that's what that's impressive moment from him. No. I it is. I mean, he he said all the right things right there. And supported his teammate who we noses obviously going through a little bit of a rough patch here also come on. Let's put ourselves into Big Ben shoes, he's at the end of his career. And he knows that this is still one of the best receivers and football. And he certainly doesn't want him to go out the door in Ben's last two or three years is a football player. And then okay, we have to go through some sort of rebuilding process at the wide receiver position, or whatever it may be. So I think that's why you're going to hear him continue to stick up for Antonio Brown because he doesn't want to have to deal with, you know, who might be here next year, or you know, I'm losing a guy that dictates so dictate so much of what a defense does because he's a special player at makes my job easier to throw the ball around the field to other guys. Well, they still have juju Smith Schuster proven over the years that they have a knack for great receivers in the draft. And I think one of the reasons they've been able to do that is because they have been rothlisburger. And I do think that he doesn't get enough credit for our good the passing game has been. It's just been. Hey, they have this great receiver. Hey, they have that great receiver. Hey, Santona homes made that great catch the Super Bowl. Well, Ben Rothlisberger through a hell of a ball in the Super Bowl to allow homeless to make that catch and homes ends up being the MVP not Rothlisberger. So I think that for as long as he's around they'll be fine. And hey, if all else fails they can pick up Josh Gordon after the patriots inevitably. Well, well, they'll do next year. I mean, I think what you're saying to. I mean, they do have a knack for the wide receiver position. They really do. They're unbelievable. And to further your point. Yeah. I mean, let's think of Mike Wallace. What does he done since he left Pittsburgh? Oh, nothing. Right. What did send Tonio homes do something when he left Pittsburgh? Oh, nothing. That's right. So there's one floor. There's one flaw in your argument, though. Emmanuel Sanders has been pretty good. He has been very good. There's no doubt about that. He has been a phenomenal football player, and he's still the best receiver on the Denver Broncos. But I do think that Big Ben gets overlooked a lot because people don't like Big Ben some because of his some of his early years, you know, mishaps and him mistreating women, and I think a lot of people ever since that point just think he's a jerk and I can't root for him. And hey, maybe he is a jerk. I'm not going to deny that. But damn he can throw a football and damn he can make any offense work and damn he can win games by himself, especially when he was in the prime of his career..
